From this weekends challenge

I used the Cricut Design Studio to make the sun. It was a circle and 11 triangles. They were skewed and overlapped to form a “sun” looking element.

Challenge Complete

Thanks Janita for your version of the challenge from August 16th. This looks great. I just love the way you did your lettering with the Cricut!

Remember the challenge?

Cricut Class Day

Did I show this already? I forget if I am Arthur or Martha somedays. My head is a bit fuzzy today.. we went out last night (with big people) and had a wonderful time with some friends for a special lady’s surprise 40th. She sure was surprised.

Anyhow, this is the layout we did at the Cricut Day. Love that glitter paper, but please don’t cut glitter paper with your Cricut, your blade will hate you for it. We used fancy edged scissors (you know, the ones you’ve had since you first got into papercraft and rarely use) to cut the glitter paper. Ok, so I just realised now that you can’t see on this photo, but the background is KCo glittered. So sweet. The rest is Bazzil. some of the ribbons have had the threads pulled to scrunch them up and I’ve added chalk to the edges of the larger flowers.

Better late than never. Here’s that layout we saw at the Cricut Day where I used Alpahlicious letters and loaded it up with flowers, gems and white gel pen. Journaling was done in pen, almost hidded amongst the lightly patterned background and the swirl was hand drawn.

Big Week

Goodness me I didn’t realise how full I had loaded my schedule for this week. Some days I had 3 classes a day! It’s no wonder I feel whacked. Whacked but happy. I love teaching my classes, and since returning from Sydney I feel glad to have made the decision be in the workshop as much as I can. So, I am feeling sort of like you do when you come home from a hectic holiday, very tired and needing a break, but happy. Know what I mean? Thank the Lord I don’t have 10 classes next week to plan for.

Today we had our Cricut Club Workshop, creating a lovely glittery girly page and learning to love our Cricuts just that much more.  We had a play with the Expression Machine too – the Cricuts’ Big Brother is in town! Man, that thing is tempting! Mmm… can I justify having two? One for home, one for work… I love how it does 12×12 and had a great time cutting scallop edge card with a press of the button. I made signs for the workshop yesterday with it and they are hanging on the door. Narelle also let me borrow her Walk in My Garden cartridge – thanks Narelle – and we cut some cutest little caterpillar dudes and a turtle. I brought them home with me (they might get lonely at the shop) and maybe I can make a cutesy display with them. There is a demo of the new Expression Cricut on Tuesday afternoon from 2 till 2.30

Here’s a few shots of the Cricut Workshop, the  girls had a lovely time and created a the “Beauty” page. Janita has photographed hers already, go to her blog to have a look. Stopping only momentarily for morning tea, chocolates, Tim Tams, Savoury Scone and Rachels’ son Brandon made us awesome Carrot Cake – thanks Brandon you’re a legend.

Janita… (just realised what a great colour shirt this is for our Cricut Day) After class there was time to copy my swirly layout that everyone seems to like so much. I have promised to photograph it, and will keep that promise but need to wait for daylight and an empty memory card.

Till then.. goodnight.

Layout Share – Challenge

Janita has been busy. Thanks so much for sending this in Janita, it’s great to have more layouts to show here. The flourishes in this challenge I found particularly challenging, I did mine by hand, but Janita has gone that step further and used the cuttlebug to cut a flourish corner… nice thinking !

Is that really you? I never had a deb ball, or any kind of ball for that matter, I would have loved that. All dressed up and beautiful. Great journaling too, (even though i have reduced it and you can’t read it here), it has all the names! That’ll be a great one to look back on.

Layout Share – Celebrate

I had a play with the Coredinations Cardstock today, oh what fun! I started with one colour and couldn’t stop myself (hold me back) and went for another as well. Loved the look, and it’s easy! You know me – I love “easy”.

This is the “black magic” range (well 2 colours anyway) Can’t wait to have a play with some of the others.

I used 2 pieces of card for this layout, tearing a hole in the top layer to expose the blue core colour, and rolling back the edges for the photo to show through (like a frame). The outer edge of the blue was worn away with an Edge Distresser and rolled to show the blue

The “C” was a large Chip Chatter letter I have had for ages, and the rest of the letters were cut from coredinations with the Cricut – “Opposites Attract” – (P.C.- you better come get this cartridge of yours back off me before I never let you have it back… I love it! ) Once the letters were cut from the black card I used my sanding set (the oh so lovely one by basic Grey to get into all the details) to expose the green core. Love the look.

Happy Birthday Dad! xxx

Layout Share – have you been good?

I am enjoying challenges lately and seem to be able to scrap so much quicker! Here’ s a completed challenge. Maybe you could challenge yourself too?

The challenge was:

Christmas theme 12 x 12
Red Flowers
Chipboard
2 photos

layout-have-you-been-good.jpg

I used Crate papers and die cut borders, ink, 7 Gypsies metal tag with white gel pen on it and brads, Imaginince flowers, black card cricut cut for title, Maya Road chipboard letters for title, I coloured them in with the thick end of my black zig pen because I was too lazy to get my paint out. I drew the template onto chipboard for the swirl and have used it a few times now for different layouts. I think I might use it with our next Cricut day… ooh that gets me a thinkin again.
