Adrian Newey rules out leaving Red Bull F1 team for Ferrari

Formula 1 design genius Adrian Newey has dismissed speculation that he is seriously weighing up a move to Ferrari, underlining he is committed to Red Bull for now

Ferrari is sorting out a long term recovery plan to get itself back to the front of the grid, and recent comments that it could 'go to market' to sign some big hitters has inevitably led to talk that Newey is one of its main targets.

Some non-committal comments from Newey at the Spanish Grand Prix served to fuel talk of a possible Ferrari switch, but he has made it clear on the eve of the Monaco weekend that his focus is only on Red Bull.

"I remain committed to Red Bull for the foreseeable future," said Newey in a short statement.

Red Bull boss Christian Horner has been unmoved by the speculation linking Newey with Ferrari, and suggested that his technical chief has 'paternal' feelings for his current outfit.

World champion Sebastian Vettel also said in Monaco that he was pretty confident that Newey would not be departing any time soon.

"Obviously I got to know him fairly well the last couple of years," Vettel said. "We have been working very closely together, not just me but the whole team.

"You need to understand that Adrian is one of the key people in the team but there are also a lot of other people who are doing a lot of work, so it is not always fair to only give the credit to Adrian. I am sure he will tell you that when you ask him the same kind of question.

"It [the Ferrari speculation] is a story in the end. How much truth there is, maybe we will find out, maybe we will never find out. I am not too interested in that right now to be honest."
