Tilda Swinton Like This by Etat Libre d'Orange is a Floral fragrance for women. Tilda Swinton Like This was launched in 2010. The nose behind this fragrance is Mathilde Bijaoui.

Etat Libre d’Orange launches a new fragrance in March 2010, second celebrity perfume in a row, this time inspired by the English actress Tilda Swinton. Her favorite scent is the scent of home, so she wanted a fragrance that will be a magical potion with that kind of smell. Mathilde Bijaoui created for her a composition of yellow tangerine, ginger, pumpkin, immortelle, Moroccan neroli, Grass rose, vetiver, heliotrope and musk.

It is available as 50 ml EDP.

"I have always located my favourite fragrances at the doorways of kitchens, in the heart of a greenhouse, at the bottom of a garden. Scent means place to me : place and state of mind - even state of grace. Certainly state of ease. My favourite smells are the smells of home, the experience of the reliable recognisable after the exotic adventure: the regular - natural - turn of the seasons, simplicity and softness after the duck and dive of definition in the wide, wide world.

When Mathilde Bijaoui first asked me what my own favourite scent in a bottle might contain, I described a magic potion that I could carry with me wherever I went that would hold for me the fragrance - the spirit - of home. The warm ginger of new baking on a wood table, the immortelle of a fresh spring afternoon, the lazy sunshine of my grandfather's summer greenhouse, woodsmoke and the whisky peat of the Scottish Highlands after rain. I told her about a bottle of spirit, something very simple, to me : something almost indescribable, so personal it should be. The miracle is that Mathilde made it.

The great Sufi poet Rumi wrote :
If anyone wants to know what "spirit" is,

or what "God’s fragrance" means,

lean your head toward him or her.

Keep your face there close.
Like this.

This is possibly my favourite poem of all time.

It restores me like the smoke/rain/gingerbread/ greenhouse my scent-sense is fed by. It is a poem about simplicity, about human-scaled miracles. About trust. About home.

In my fantasy there is a lost chapter of Alice in Wonderland - after the drink saying Drink Me, after the cake pleading Eat Me - where the adventuring, alien, Alice, way down the rabbit hole, far from the familiar and maybe somewhat homesick - comes upon a modest glass with a ginger stem reaching down into a pale golden scent that humbly suggests : Like This…"

Very pleasant warm flowery scent that's a little bit of everything. It definitely isn't a pumpkin spice latte candle or anything like that, but it was enjoyable, mild, and different. Worth checking out, just to see!

astralmonad870

The pumpkin and ginger top notes are definitely quite spicy, but it dries down to reveal the cozy heliotrope and vanilla base underneath that is gourmand. Some gentleness from the neroli and rose although very faint.

Edit: do you know what this reminds me exactly of? Thai red curry!

I got this in a sample set, the one you curate yourself, and I was attracted to it because I like Tilda Swinton. It smells sort of familiar. My mom said it reminds her of the sorts of perfumes people wore in the 90s. Loud, adult, but at the same time well-blended and strong. With that being said, I don't think it's my vibe.

I ordered this sample from ELDO for the month of november for my perfume subscription. I love this brand with its unique names. This one is great for those days when the weather is cold and you need something warm and cozy. The longevity of this fragrance is moderate. It doesn't project as much as I would like it to do. But for me this one is full bottle worthy.

Etat Libre d'Orange, immune to the silicon charm of the film industry, chooses as the creative spark of its creation an out of the ordinary actress, interpreter of that wonderful Orlando in 1992. The composition of Like This, born from the mystical verses of Rumi, Persian writer of 1244. A radical fragrance that calms the burning fire under his white skin. The pursuit of happiness begins with your dreams. They can take you in many directions. You can look for a place, a place that seems to answer your questions. Speak a different language. Eat different foods. Smell exotic scents. Are you happy now? You can also look for a connection, a person who seems right for you. Someone who completes you, who covers you, who satisfies you. Are you happy now? Maybe you are. Or maybe not. Perhaps you will find yourself with other questions, other needs. And happiness is fleeting. Then go back. Return home. Where you know the language, the food, the smells. At home. Where you can be complete on your own. At home. Where you can rest and make new dreams. And how does it feel to discover that happiness was there all along? Created by the nose Mathilde Bijaoui, it presents notes of yellow mandarin, ginger, helichrysum, nereli, Grasse rose, vetiver, heliotrope and musk as well as the Potiron Jungle Essence, a pumpkin-scented molecule obtained through an extraction process patented by Mane which allows the extraction cold the fragrant principles directly on the cultivation site, respecting the olfactory integrity of the plants. A little jewel to own and show off on cool autumn days, too bad it's so kind and polite, I would have preferred it to be more intense and long-lived

vipariously

A few minutes of ginger which leaves behind sweet warm spice. Cozy scent.

Poor projection though (not necessarily a bad thing, just fyi).

I have very mixed feelings about this one. True to ELDO fashion, the opening is beautiful, amazing and intoxicating. This is a spicy, sweet, musky experience, to be sure.

My biggest mistake was looking up the note pyramid for this, because now all I can make out that real, musky, dirty smell of pumpkin, mixed with an old lady musk that smells an awful lot like ambroxan, and although the pyramid doesn’t explicitly state it, it most definitely has some even if its the tiniest amount. The rose and heliotrope are very much there and present, but they’re overshadowed by the beast that is that pumpkin which I’m struggled to get past.

If the opening lasted through the whole experience, this would be a must for me, but that musky pumpkin grandma dry down is too hard for me to get past.

Chloerose666

Ok I'm not going to lie, by this stage in my journey though the ELdO discovery kit (x20) I was getting a bit dubious that I would enjoy any of them, they're all a bit too synthetic and strong with something odd to my nose going on in there so I tried this (one spray) on one wrist and another one (sous le pont) on the other to get the testing over and done with, which was quite a fun idea as I got to compare them directly.

This started out truly yummy. The opening blast and subsequent hour was a gorgeously well blended mandarin and pumpkin to me. I didn't get any hints of anything weird or funky it just smelled amazing and I was super excited this was a winner, as it dried down it went through a gorgeous creamy heliotrope infused phase which I also loved, before promptly settling into a very 'old lady' vibe floral. This was disappointing because it was not the vibe I got from the opening or even the start of the dry down and it just changed the fragrance into something else. Not awful and definitely not a 'hate' because it doesn't smell screechy, synthetic or bad to me just turned into something a little disappointing. Longevity was ok and sillage was pretty close to skin for me.

More floral than spicy. It’s perfectly pleasant but it’s just kind of nothing. Safe blind buy in my opinion but I don’t mean that as a compliment

koxayous

literally smells like Maggi chicken bullion powder

Like This is unique and interesting. I definitely haven't smelled anything like this before. The closest thing that came to mind was pumpkin pie. It would be nice but unfortunately the strong dominant pumpkin note is what I dislike about this fragrance the most. I still wore it all day and it's a good quality perfume but it's not suitable for those who find pumpkin smell a little off-putting. This note is the only piece of the composition holding me back from liking it.

periwinklestar

got this in the discovery kit and it’s one of my favorite from the collection, I may have to purchase a full bottle. It’s so incredibly warm and comforting, it made me realize how much I love subtle clean spice notes. The opening is clean soapy, warm spice and fresh pumpkin. As it dries down and sits it still smells so clean and warm. The floral notes aren’t too overwhelming or overpowering it all. Like others have said it smells like a hug, like hugging someone you love. When it’s dry the smell reminds me of sunscreen on clean skin or after sitting out in the sun all day.

femalevampire

Initially, Like This feels like I put on someone else's sweater. The sweater is nice and soft, and it belongs to someone who is caring and warm and just shampooed their hair. But as I wear it, I realize the person doesn't exist. The perfume smells like a place (both a shower and a kitchen after baking ginger cookies), like a review below mentions. A few hours later I wonder if even I really exist. Maybe this nice and soft sweater is just wandering the streets on its own.

deja1sabel

wanted to love this one so much more but it just fell flat for me. the pumpkin note is a nice vegetal one that I enjoyed but it’s short lived, only being noticeable in the opening. you get a fresh gingery tangerine note too, but that quickly subsides for a very dry and overtly floral aroma. it’s just way too floral for my liking with a dry musk in the background and dries down to a very floral skin scent. would’ve loved if it was more vegetal vs floral!

Gematria

Don't be fooled by Fragrantica's plump, shiny, neon orange pumpkin image. This is more of a savory heirloom gourd, knobbly and mottled with age. 'Like This' is at once sticky and astringent, with wafts of immortelle, turmeric, powdered ginger, and boiled wool. Eventually dries down to molasses, raisins, sultanas, and dust.

webblt

thought this would have a ginger/citrus smell that mellowed out into pumpkin... was shocked to find a grape medicine note! not a lot of ginger. the citrus is there but overpowered by a weird rotten pumpkin/grape scent. sad :( not totally terrible, the opening is a bit chemically and it dries into a subtle floral, but the grape comes out the more it sits on you. grape x powder = old lady.... not really a tilda vibe!

cheerfullgreen

The first time I tried this I got up immediately and ordered a full bottle like I was under a spell. It's so evocative and non-linear. It opens like a cottage door with a blast of dried flowers and honey at the threshold, then settles into the kitchen for baked squash and ginger tea until the golden hour comes, sparkling with citrus and heliotrope, when it opens a window into soft green garden musk that lingers subtly on the skin for hours.

midsommarhäxa

Caramel-y, immortelle bomb at the opening- gourmand with a touch of pumpkin, a touch of ginger. I get a touch of urine too- probably a chemical animalic musk. It’s not horrible yet this one is a scrubber for me. Not at all what I would expect Tilda to smell like!

Ebichuunee

Soft and warming perfume, it’s kind of sweet, definitely react well on my skin and I get the creamy-pumpkiny side, settle more soft and musky. Definitely got the ginger, and I love it

morfnou

Nothing old-ladyish on my skin. Beautiful slightly citrusy sweet. Perfect for everyday. Guaranteed blind buy for me. Too bad ELDO perfumes have terrible longevity

TheFinalPurl

Got a bunch of samples from scent split. This and the other Etat Libre d’Orange are absolutely the shining stars of the order. (The other was you or someone like you - great for fellow greenery lovers)

Our lord and savior Tilda Swinton inspired the most delicate, complex and unique fragrance I’ve had the pleasure of trying. REAL pumpkin. The vegetable not the pie. It smells like a woman you’d look up to. Like a hug from a lady you admire. I can’t explain it - I just absolutely love it.

Creamybbybrie

This fragrance is truly a warm spicy, (not overly spicy either) it's very comforting! This smells like walking into someone else's house if that makes sense. This isn't a dirty house, or a clean house. This is a lived in house with a loving family. As you walk in, the comforting air wafts around you. It's warm and slightly humid from the steam of the mother cooking a spiced casserole in the oven. There's a sweet hot pumpkin pie cooling on the huge hardwood family dining table. This fragrance is so cozy, not too gourmand despite the description I gave. It smells like life and family and comfort. Spices and sweetness, a bit of a vegetal floral. It's a nice lady who cares about you, a warm hug from her. It's the kind of smell you'd miss. It's like autumn but not the stereotypical overly sweet gourmand pumpkin spice latte autumn. This is love and home and hugs and motherhood. Cozy and very unique!

OfTheValley

I don't think this fragrance is edible. It is a powdery, melancholic autumnal memory, and evokes exactly Tilda Swinton's look: Ethereal, gingery, elegant, clean. There is some spiciness from the immortelle, but this is and stays a powdery, elegant, measured fragrance.
If you want to try its edible sister by the same perfumer, try Panettone by Milano fragranze.

junimo

Based on the reviews here (even the negative ones) I thought for sure this would be my favorite ELdO. Everything about the description entices me — the cozy mood it is said to evoke, the nostalgia it claims to induce in so many people, the singularity and individual specialness of it…

I personally don’t get any of that (except for the last bit). Maybe it’s a matter of cultural difference, but this doesn’t recall a sweet past memory of blissful nothing, nor does it make me feel like I’m curled up in the cozy nook of a cabin on a bright autumn day. I still like it, but I don’t want to smell like this, per se. It’s a little musty and dusty at the base, but I love the edible-smelling bitterness at the top…

My gripe, I think, is that this smells like a place, not a person. A lot of ELdOs do that, which is fine and fun, but doesn’t entice me to wear them.

aaronmilic

I really like this but to my nose, this doesn't suit me at all and is a very feminine fragrance. It actually reminds me of one of my first kindergarten teachers back in 1978... this combo of cigarettes and perfume. That said, my wife wore it, didn't like it on her and she says on me it's unisex and smells nice and that I should wear it. The scent itself is really beautiful and definitely worth the low price tag. Performs and projects. I doubt I will reach for it often but I'll hang on to it and wear it in cooler weather. To me, real pumpkin smells awful so if there's pumpkin in this I'd be shocked. To me it's hard to describe, best to sample it yourself.

windchime_00

It smells like the memory of a pumpkin chiffon pie baking, while you do laundry. Not super present, but a little bit fluffy. Somehow it is more of an super early spring scent to me rather than fall. 6-12 hours of a very light scent cloud on me.

The mood reminds me of Coffee Break or Princess a little bit. There is something gently gourmand yet uplifting. (Not saying these smell the same or even similar!) It is positive day-time comfort rather than night-time comfort, if that makes sense.

I am going to full bottle it because it is pleasant, inexpensive, and fits a niche, but it isn't my favorite though probably my favorite from ELDO.

Update: This has really grown on me. I ordered a travel size, but as I was waiting on the travel size, I saw a deal on a full bottle, so I got it. It really does fit a niche and I found myself using up the sample. I like to wear woody and aromatic scents to work, but will add this to my day time fall rotation or even cozy before bedtime scent. Changing from a like to a love!

liquideggwhite

reminds me of grandparents but also kind of give me a headache. I don't want to smell like this

Aers Etat Libre d'Orange Advent Calendar

I bought the ELdO discovery set and made it my advent calendar. I'll try to post a review every day in the order the samples are in the set.

Day 9 - Like This

This was very edible and I felt like sitting in an autumn bakery all day long. Well, really, half a day long I have to say. If Like This has one downside, it's that its longevity is pretty limited. I sprayed relatively carefully and only from the sample I have, so the full bottle experience might be different, but still, it felt like it faded quickly.

Like This starts smelling like... a sweet potato roast. The note has often been described as pumpkin, but I was clearly reminded of how sweet potatoes smell when you roast them in an oven. Even fries might be a comparison there. There was this slightly smokey-herbal aroma and a very warm feeling there. It wasn't sweet at all at this point but smelled very delicious from the get-go. It put me into my kitchen, cooking a hearty casserole. I would argue it has autumn vibes even if I didn't associate it as much with pumpkin than with sweet potatoes.

The deliciousness stayed with the perfume through its (limited) lifetime, but it did go through significant phases. Mostly, the smokiness and herbal notes dissipated over time and at that point, the associations went from sweet potato to pumpkin in my nose. There was a certain sweetness now, reminding me of pumpkin pie with some sort of creamy topping. I felt very much that Like This is a gourmand fragrance and also very much enjoyed myself here. The fall vibes got even stronger here. Warm candlelight while it rains outside, baking together, sitting in front of the hot, glowing oven. A very comforting scent. The sweetness was more of an aromatic one than a syrupy one and that was very much appreciated.

When it dried down and towards the end of Like This' lifetime, the sweetness kinda faded and what was left behind was a dry and slightly spicy pumpkin-esque scent that is essentially only detectable if you push your nose to your skin. It's still nice enough here, but lost a lot of its appeal and sadly, this phase came way too early. The interesting bits of this perfume happened in the first four hours and afterward, it was barely detectable. Now as I mentioned before, I've sprayed carefully and only with a tester, so that might differ if you apply a little more, but the early drydown was still a surprise to me.

Overall I think this is a cozy fall scent that goes for one particular vibe and executes that quite well. I'm not sure I would want to wear it myself but if you ever wanted to smell like pumpkin pie or sweet potatoes, this has you covered in a quite enjoyable way. It's cozy, it's warm, it's quite delicious, it's very autumn, it smells like a kitchen after you cooked something delicious in there.

spaceybailey

I really love this. The pumpkin in this is so yummy, definitely a fresh, just carved Pumpkin that you picked up from a Pumpkin patch. But add tangerines, a little bit of whipped cream and a shot of musk. Halloween, FALL vibes. SNOOPY picked out the pumpkin for this perfume, it's the one from "The Perfect Pumpkin" I bet this perfume has maple syrup in it. It could probably be worn all the way up to Christmas. Buddy the ELF would wear this. Perfect for both him & her. It's warm and cozy, fresh and creamy. I don't pick up any rose and I love that about it, it's probably there but lingering in the background. The pumpkin is the star of the show. So beautiful. Not a gourmand but it's very delicious. Layer with YSL Black Opium (Le Parfum) trust me. BISOUS

princessofmissouri

this one… this one is like a mother to me… i’ve found myself wearing it when i am in need of direct comfort. this scent is very domestic but feels so mysterious. it is like this… hermetic kitchen witches and faint memories of womb-like solace coming together to tell you you’re cared for and safe. maybe it’s time to take a bath or a nap.

Shaymin

First off, this reminds me of the smell of a fresh pumpkin after carving, it is not the same scent as a baked pumpkin pie scent or psl. It dries down to a warm and comforting cashmery scent. This is more of a skin scent, it does not have any projection. It is the perfect comforting fall weather into winter scent. It is extremely cosy and comforting.

Anonomouse

Like This transforms. At first, I love this scent. It smells warm and inviting and like home... It starts off warm and cozy. The pumpkin is prominent but not in a super sweet/artificial way and there's a faint hint of gingerbread in the back ground. Then it turns into a powdery clean laundry-esque scent and stays like that for a few hours. After that, it's like strong baby powder and projects like crazy. The last few hours, although it doesn't project at this point, it smells like a dish rag you left out and is slightly mildewy. I'm going to give it some time to see if my opinion changes.

twoski

I certainly get the pumpkin flesh note from this. I expected more "zing" from the ginger but it's only barely noticeable.

Ultimately this isn't spicy enough to evoke that typical fall vibe like Lalique's Fleur Universelle might. To me this is just a less spiced version of Fleur Universelle. A very approachable everyday kind of fragrance that has its own vibe.

Crueltyfreeparfumerie

This was a blind buy for me. It was not what I expected. With the pumpkin I was expecting more of a fall “spicy” warm scent. I actually thought of spring initially smelling it. For me it’s a light floral, perfect for everyday.

dognose

Very comforting, very cozy, very motherly scent. If I close my eyes I can feel myself as a child on a snowy day, my mother washing my hair, the smell of the house, of soup on the stove. This feels like my mother. In the best way, not a cloying way. I do think this is an excellent fragrance for fall and winter. I can smell the pumpkin but it's balanced with some sharper, clean, almost green notes. Still smells lovely at the die down!

However, I'm not sure yet if this scent is me. I don't love super sweet, warm, spicy, fruity scents on myself and my body chemistry. However, I really think it would suit my 50 year old mom. My dad instantly said it smelled good, so I might give it to my mama. There's nothing "old lady" or cloying about it at all, it's just a very wise, feminine "mommy" scent. Maybe when I'm a mother this will feel more "like me"!

rezzmail

Like This is not all that sweet, but it's soft enough to make you think something sweet is coming. It's an atmospheric scent, it feels like a small house with a cat lying in the warm spot on the sofa and there's warm lights and candles everywhere. The smell of pumpkin soup wafts through while the crisp outside air slips from the cracks in the window.

I wasn't even that into this scent when I sampled it a few years back then something just turned within me last month and suddenly it felt like it's time. (How ominous is that?) And it was a lovely choice to take the plunge.

I've been told that I smell like fall and like a comforting home. This on a cold day is just beautiful, and I find it layerable so I would layer it with a maple syrup oil I have.

Flizz

The imortelle, that litterally smells fishy, is just too much for me and destroys an otherwise cozy floral scent that I am able to detect through it. I'm not sure I feel any pumpkin or fruitiness at all. Neither sweetness or caramel that was kind of expected efter reading the reviews. I would not say this is gourmand. Overall interesting, but disapointing.

Enrium

It was this collaboration with Tilda Swinton that initially drew me to Etat Libre d'Orange, so naturally this is my first scent to review from this house. I love this refreshing take on a "celebrity" scent - instead of the cheap, generic sweet scents of the noughties endorsed by myriad celebrities, Like This is an unusual scent from a niche brand inspired by one of the most intriguing and unique actresses of our time. I have found Tilda Swinton entrancing since seeing her play the White Witch in Narnia as a child, and have since done a deep dive into her back catalogue to find that she is a true talent - a chameleon that immerses herself in the characters she plays.

Back to the scent in question: Like This is an unusual if muted pumpkin-forward scent. I cannot think of another perfume that focuses on a pumpkin note, but Like This does it well. As kids, we drew a face on our annual Halloween pumpkin before it was cut it up for soup and roasted pumpkin seeds once November arrived - indeed, the timing of my testing of this scent is fitting. The pumpkin note here initially reminds me of that raw pumpkin, cut into slices for soup, before progressing into pumpkin pie territory as it develops. It is an unusual, muted gourmand that is very comforting and warm - a surprising contrast to the edgy scent I expected. However, reading the brief, it makes sense - a slightly witchy, unusual scent inspired by home.

LT opens with the aforementioned pumpkin note, its slightly vegetal quality enhanced by the herbal immortelle. Ginger follows, enhancing it to perfection with its warm sweet-spiciness, bringing it to the sweeter, pumpkin pie-like territory. There is a soft caramel-like undertone - not sticky or too sweet, but giving it a soft baked goods feel. A nice orange accord rounds it out, adding to the sweetness and complementing the pumpkin note nicely. Heliotrope adds a subtle almond edge that contributes to the gourmand-ness of this scent.

As it dries down, it becomes woody and softly musky, a neat ending to a cosy, comforting scent. Sillage and longevity are moderate. It feels very autumnal, given the softly-spiced pumpkin accord that forms the crux of this scent. It is feminine-leaning, or perhaps unisex. It brings to mind a warm, kind mother figure (or grandmother) baking in an old-fashioned kitchen, somehow Proustian although I have never experienced pumpkin pie being baked.

Domestic bliss with a dash of witchiness, it in fact befits a Tilda Swinton-inspired scent. There is nothing quite Like This. 4/5.

PerfumedParrot

This is just a bit flat in energy. It’s the pasty part of a pumpkin pie after you’ve scraped the majority of the pumpkin off and you’re left with the savoury biscuity base, mixed with laser jet printer ink and the flat sour smell of cork table mats/coasters. It’s a savoury, slightly bitter gourmand scent what’s not sweet, cakey nor buttery.
So there you have it: pumpkin pie pastry, ink and cork - I wasn’t expecting to be writing that combo of words ever in my life. I imagine Tilda Swinton to smell beautifully unique but not so underwhelmingly and randomly obscure.

amnebe

This perfume starts out like a sweeter, more caramel, more floral version of Dusk in Autumn by Alkemia. It has the same pumpkin pie scent notes, but they're so wrapped up in florals that they're easy to miss. It settles down into an aldehydic floral scent. At first, I liked it but didn't think it was really me. Then, I couldn't get enough of it and had to spray more closer to my face so I could immerse myself in the scent.

kiyoshi2207

Such a cozy comforting scent. Pure delight and bliss, especially on rainy or cool days.

Ginger and Pumpkin are the main notes here but they are so well blended together with other notes. Making this very pleasant on the skin and to the nose.

Imagining an Autumn night, you are warming yourself at home, in front a fireplace with a hot cup of coffee or any hot drink of your preference. This is what my feeling for this fragrance. Simply beautiful.

Odor Aeternitatis

This is a very interesting fragrance. It's a celebrity fragrance for Tilda Swinson and is based on her favorite scents to bring back her home and her childhood. This concept would be interesting enough to have a great fragrance.

This fragrance is a complex fragrance with different layers but very nice and totally wearable. The main players here are the pumpkin and ginger which give a warm, cozy, and friendly type of scent. In the second plot, there are floral and tangerine scents. In the background, the fragrance has musk, in the form of a soapy clean type, as well as a bitter powdery scent of heliotrope and vanilla. This fragrance could be named gourmand floral musky. It is both fresh and warm and slightly sweet. Very nice job.

so... I love this perfume. it's fantastic for the fall. it's super conforting. But I am wearing it today on top of a body cream with mint and I smell like star anis... weird

melinda_duffjohnson

The first 15 minutes of this are an intolerable bug spray smell. Once that passes, it actually mellows to something warm, spicy and kind of interesting.

A bit too "perfumey"/white musk quality for my preferences. I don't get the pumpkin note either, and more on the "feminine side" (and I wear plenty such fragrances), for those who care. Otherwise, the notes seem to be there. Five O'Clock Au Gingembre is more to my tastes for this sort of idea.

Cherry_Darling

Starts off a grainy, (sweetly nutty) cozy, autumnal ginger (the kind that is indeed in pumpkin spice lattes, so I guess I can place the pumpkin by association but not distincly.) Dries down to a slightly vegetal herbal ginger, and if I hadn't just had patty pat squash yesterday I may not have been able to make this association, but as I had just eaten it and noticed how it is slightly bitter, I feel that here too. Slightly bitter drydown. I'm usually at odds with immortelle as it's a bit more herbal than I like, here it is not, it's a bit more of that grainy / cozy scent, plus the drydown. I like this, the drydown is less for me though, and in eldo fashion this is not overwhelming more of a fluffy cloud.

** 20x eldo set, 2 x 5 penhaligon sets, floris set, floraiku set all available for swap. Looking for UK based sample swappers happy to swap 20-50 samples at once - especially sets and niches but I have plenty of decanted samples too. Get in touch! **

I have to admit, I couldn't detect the pumpkin note. Instead, the immortelle takes center stage, and it's quite prominent. This fragrance leans on the sweeter side, and the sweetness is reminiscent of smelling malt syrup – rich and sugary. It is cozy but not pumpkin scent.

aweso10

the perfectttttt cozy fall frag- if you've been on the hunt for a unique pumpkin scent, look no further! i know that imortelle doesn't work well on some folks' skin, but for me this is a slightly heady, spiced citrus and ginger bomb. it definitely projects more than i anticipated, and it lasts a solid 7 or 8 hrs on the skin indoors. Like This definitely has a bit of a floral soapy quality, but in a way that's like being wrapped up in a warm blanket. it doesn't lean too opulent or mature, but does have an elegant tone. the pumpkin is subtle and interesting, with just the right amount of lactonic sweetness!

allie-32098

The best “soft immortelle” treatment I’ve encountered, where it’s prominent but the overall impression is not too powerful. I like it much more than Blanche Immortelle, its closest sibling, because if you’re looking for a gentle take on the flower it feels more honest to not make it a soliflore. And there’s plenty of other things going on here! The pumpkin is less strong for me than the ginger, rose, and tangerine. I only have a dauber, would love to try it sprayed. Creative and unique but easy to like, easy to wear, especially good for casual use or as a “comfort scent.”

monamushroom

Like This paints a beautiful picture of an early autumn day. This is the smell of the seasons changing, when summer is ending and you feel a chilly breeze. Even though it is cold and you are wearing a thin jean-jacket it still smells of the last summer flowers and grass. This is a comforting hug, a scent that makes you feel cozy and secure.

This perfume has a sharp citrus-y opening, it smells yellow if that makes sense? It is kind of aldehydic – clean, soapy and musky. Something in this composition smells herbal, fresh, minty and ginger-y. It can also remind me of an expensive home fragrance, those fragrance sticks :-) I don’t pick up on the pumpkin, but I can’t say that I have ever smelled something distinctive from a pumpkin so that may be why.

In the dry-down it turns spicier than I anticipated. It is dry and warm, like dry grass, or like something newly built with wood. The musc is still prominent, but it is colder and blends in with a rose smell, like a fresh rose water spritz.

I love how this plays out, and tells a story on my skin, and the longevity is up to 12 hours on my skin. Definitely worth a full sized bottle for me.

adcpeda

I hated this as soon as I smelled it. It reminded me of a used diaper and it dried down to ginger and some chemical spicy scent reminiscent of a candle, just not a good one. My skin is definitely not meant for this fragrance

JenAvery

Like crawling into a cozy blanket on a cold evening. So hard to explain just warm, cozy a bit sweet, Fall in a bottle. I’ll be purchasing a FB soon. This is one I can spray on before bed and sleep in a bubble of yummy.

Whateverwhocares

Ugly, spicy scent. Nauseating. It’s got a weird, synthetic pumpkin extract thing going on. I smell sugary preservatives. Does achieve some balance as it wears but oof. Why?

Smells like my grandmother’s medicine cabinet.

Objectively, not THAT bad. Subjectively, BAD!

aaronmilic

Great fragrance, love the scent, the bottle, the story, Tilda Swinton... guys, definitely try before you buy. My first full bottle from this house, not sure how often I will wear it though. Will try it again in the fall and maybe I'll change my mind or see if my wife will wear it, she likes Tilda Swinton and unusual scents.

This is strong stuff for the price point, really nice.

Update: I gave this to my wife and she seems to like it.

Briar's Reign

Really pretty pumpkin note. Not all that spicy to me, it's more on the sweet side. I paired this with Musc Ravageur and it was really good! Cozy, warm, and enticing <3

Zethre

This varies a lit depending on the weather. Sometimes it has a metallic note, others it's mostly ginger, others it's soapy ginger. Very strange and interesting.

duthchas

to me this smells quite similar to burberry london; for the price point i would pick "london" over "like this".

Baltabarin

LIKE THIS, a warm spice with a citrusy opening and a herbaceous follow-up, carries a slight acidity, probably coming from the combination of pumpkin and ginger, which can be unsettling but perfectly evokes a comfortable scenario without venturing into the Christmas-like territory.

In this context, the immortelle takes on an almost balsamic character, reminding me, at least personally, of my grandmother's scent and also that of a relaxing spa massage, in short, it's undeniably cuddly.

It's a comforting, clean, and warm fragrance, intimate in its intentions and projection. It feels like a little magic conceived in the dining room of a countryside house, with its familiar scents and sounds. As usual, ELDO excels in creating a detailed and evocative olfactory diorama of a collective memory, which, whether authentic or not, transports us elsewhere.

The only downside, on my skin, is that the projection and longevity are really too scarce.

dylan1760

Decent opening but it turns into jasmine and urine after about an hour on my skin. Reminds me of trying to hide that I wet the bed as a kid by spraying room freshener on it.

JENNKA

Rookie review ahead: I sampled this twice before committing to a 30mL bottle and have no regrets. It does smell a bit different from the decant but I understand this is typical.
The opening notes remind me of a blown-out candle in a jack-o-lantern plus something creamy/lactonic. There's then some ginger which seems to be competing with the floral. I was unsure if the perfume was working for me but it has now dried down to an earthy, pure orange pekoe tea halo. Love, love it.

Charmedbymeghan

This is the type of perfume that is easy to reach for when you don't feel like a strong presence of fragrance, but still want to wear something & smell good. It is a light woody fragrance with spicy, sweet & gourmand touches - but not too much of any one thing. It's not meant to overwhelm... It can be worn anytime of day or year imo. It is special for being so nondescript. It is my kind of "skin scent" even though it isn't really a skin scent. I've been sampling a lot, looking for one of these types of fragrances and this is definitely in the running. It doesn't hurt that it can be bought on the gray market for about $60/3.4 FL OZ either. And I like this scent more than the other $125-$200 fragrances that are also high on the list. This fragrance house has a knack for making these types of scents really well - they have floral versions... more gourmand-leaning, and very spicy ones, etc - that can easily be worn and not overwhelm. Well-blended types of formulations. I currently have 2 on my wish list and still contemplating on a few more. Fat Electrician & The Ghost In The Shell are the 2 I will definitely be getting a full-size bottle of. And this will probably be my 3rd.

This house is worth sampling, if you want niche and different, but also pleasant and easy to reach for... many of them are Unisex too.

Taurien

Very particular, a jewel in my collection that is different to anything I have smelled before.

After a brief start in which the protagonist is a juicy orange, it smells of pumpkin and carrot with lots of ginger and a floral background of immortelle and neroli. The heliotrope and the rose appear to my nose as a slight powdery tint in the composition. I agree with @Emorandeira that this effect is reminiscent of the iris.

On my skin it has a moderate sillage and a very good duration, of more than 12 hours. I was scared that it would not perform well based on what I had read about it but on my skin it behaves so well that it has exceeded my expectations.

I know it's strange to imagine that there are people who might like to smell like vegetable puree with ginger, but there are. It is a scent for personal enjoyment and to be used at appropriate occasions, but I personally love it. More than a delicious scent, I would say that it is a cozy and interesting smell.

The perfumes that I have tried so far from Etat Libre d'Orange have seemed very special to me and this one is no exception.

Smell 7.5/10
Duration 10/10
Sillage 7/10
Quality/price 7/10
Versatility 3/10
Packaging 7.5/10
Would I buy again? Probably

On paper/ first sniff, this is a pretty and muddled sweet citrus/floral frag. I never get any FRESH pumpkin from this, and I want to love it so bad, but when I actually wear it for some reason it dries down to a sweaty metallic sweet mess that makes me nauseous. Almost like a rancid pumpkin, I guess. Gorgeous not on my skin, makes me want to barf on my skin. Not for me unfortunately but it performed well and projected a bit... which was unfortunate since it made me sick lol. Just... bleck.

TBonetheFella

This is the first time I have smelled a perfume that has pumpkin in it, and it does NOT disappoint. The top is ever so slightly sweet, with a beautiful spice. This is such a nostalgic scent for me. It smells like a mix between the candles my mom would put on during fall, and the spices and sugar from the constant baking around the fall holidays. As it dries down the sweetness becomes less and less forward, but it begins to mix with the spices to create this beautifully intoxicating ambrosia. For those like me who also haven't smelled pumpkin accord before, it gives it this earthy, subtle sweetness that is almost nutty in texture. This is definitely unisex if you enjoy sweeter scents. Typically I am not a fan of sweet scents, but with enough confidence and the perfect autumn day: anyone can pull this off and show others how they do it like this. My only complaint with this fragrance would be the fact that it is SO specific to 1.5 seasons that it might not be worth the ~$80-100 something price tag unless you got some disposable income.

Gauxchujang

A subtle masterpiece from the house. It’s so much of an autumn scent it almost chills the air as you smell it. The concept is on point but I would say it shines best when smelled, not worn. Magical in the fall but otherwise it’s so accurate it becomes out of place.

smccmurphy

Was considering a full bottle but Kyrage’a comment may have ruined it for me lol. That aside, a really delicate autumn scent. Sweaters, pumpkin pie, but not cloying. Really pretty.

OxP

Tobacco and citrucy-gingery notes turn it into a fresh day scent for me. I do not get pumpkin and sweetness in it and yes, I know how a pumkin pie smells but this perfume is not about it :).

WoodsyLove

Maybe because of the pumpkin + musk combo, but on my skin this one turned to something rancid reminding me of cat piss. It’s horrendous on my skin.

Krayge

After racking my brains I finally recalled what this scent reminds me of... whatever cleaning product or handwash they use in an EasyJet flight toilet. For real. Crying shame because I actually like the scent but I can't commit to wearing it with that association. 😕

Ground hound

I do not feel any pumpkin- if we are talking about the real pumpkin, and not some candy or other artificial "pumpkin" flavor...and even that- not really.
It starts off as tender citrus, going into sweetness that can be anything from sweet potato to any other root vegetable, then- opens into a very clear and prominent ginger and background musk and rose. Very.Prominent.Ginger.
I`d put citrus and ginger on the first positions in the pyramid.
Tender, elegant but too bland for me.

asiarakk

I like it. Smells like happiness. But I would not wear it.

Scent is delicate, sweet. Not suffocating.
It’s super spicy ginger dominating on my skin with sweetness from tangerine and pumpkin.

I hate pumpkins, but this one doesn’t smell like a raw one. I would never guessed there is pumpkin note.

Very cute girly scent. Not boring, better than basic sweet lux perfumes like Versace or ysl.
Totally feminine in my opinion.

After 20 minutes there just a little bit of ginger on my skin.
Smells nicely sweet. Flowers and sweet tangerine. Reminds me of something I wore in 2013.

After 30-40 minutes : it starts to annoy me. It’s sweet.

snopea

vegetal and lactonic with savory spices. smells like a health food store (in a good way)

KermieFae

This is my first fragrance from the E'tat Libre D'Orange line up, so I'm not familiar with how their blends usually open nor their performance. This review is based upon a blind skin test experience. I was absolutely delighted by the end result.

I reviewed the scent pyramid before showering and applying. I was expecting something a skosh sweeter when considering the scent pyramid. The citrus of the tangerine and the dull sweet of pumpkin had me anticipating a softer touch. So much so, that I applied a Orange Nectar and Cashmere lotion prior to applying the fragrance.

Upon opening, I was immediately forced to reconcile my expectations with reality. On my skin, Like This leans into the vetiver and ginger with unyielding confidence. It pushed the boundaries of my usual fragrance habits by taking me away from a floral gourmand, and exceeded expectations. As the scent nestled into a comfortable dry down, the vetiver, ginger, and musk blend beautifully into a nuanced, "peppery" foundation. This forms a sort of vegetal leaning bed for the pumpkin to lazily, delicately reach its vines outward. The pumpkin note is just shy of being photorealistic. Lacking any sugar or additive, it feels as though you are smelling the exterior of the pumpkin or potentially its rind. This scent does not resort to the safety of an overripe, pulpy pumpkin with a slightly sweet note. Rather, it protests leaning into a gendered scent, and stands firmly in its androgyny.

It is a fantastic scent to test your boundaries as a fragrance enthusiast.

waterydepths

ohhh this is such a nice perfume! if i'm being honest, it isn't something i would normally pick out for myself - if i hadn't gotten the sample in a set, i'd not have thought to try it. but as is becoming a pattern, i am very enchanted by a gourmand scent! it makes me smell like a spiced pumpkin loaf, or a delicious squash curry. sweet and savory and tangy and warm and spicy, this got a compliment from a friend! who knows how much of this is because of the marketing, but it does smell orange and quite happy to me. definitely very strong - i oversprayed it at first and it is a LOUD scent!!! that being said, i felt very twee and charming and content wearing it, which was quite fun!

smellworthy

I don't get as much pumpkin as I was hoping for. Instead I get a lot of the ginger, tangerine, and neroli. Almost smells like orange blossom, surprised that's not listed as a note. If the color orange was a perfume, this would be it. Sweet spiced citrus meets musky florals. Not bad, but not for me, I expected more of a pumpkin pie-like smell

becominglocal

This is super pumpkiny on me, with a ton of ginger, almost like a pumpkin pie. It doesn't last super long on my skin, but it clings to my hair and my clothing pretty well. It is very sweet on me, almost a gourmand.

Kelliees

This smells exactly like old cigarettes to me. I can not believe there's no tobacco in this. As a former smoker, the smell is a nauseating reminder of my previous life.

ashaheibe

Spicy and warm, perfect for autumn but can be worn all year long. I dropped my bottle on a hardwood floor and lost about 90ml worth of this exquisite stuff. Can;t justify dropping another €140 on a new bottle right now but likely will at some point

marchat

Initially I get a warm spicy smell with slight herbal and vegetal touches which is very nice. It smells different than anything I own. After about 5 minutes though, it dries down to smell very similar to Kenzo Amour (but without the powderiness) which I do own. For that reason, I will not be buying a full bottle.

Brittbritt

This just smells like spicy soap on me, like Dr Bronnner's. In the bottle smells one way, on my skin another. Both are just ok, I would not personally choose this.

Skinterpreter

This perfume smells like a sunny autumn day. It´s a little bit sweet and slightly citrusy, but it´s heart is definitely made of herbs and spices. Some of the reviewers compared it to a kitchen´s cabinet and I can only agree with that. It´s exactly that that makes it smell so comforting and welcoming. Interesting, when I bought it in early September I think, it felt kind of soapy, now in November the soapiness is gone and it´s really just warm and herbal, almost bright.
If you love autumn like I do, I strongly recommend getting this perfume. I would say it´s longevity and projection are moderate, but it does last for couple of hours and it´s a really nice, yet unusual scent. But it´s a sunny autumn day´s perfume for sure... as I said, there is certain warmth to it and it feels nostalgic. For a cold rainy day, I would choose something different. :)

maistylz

The scent of this perfume is just exquisite. I can't get enough! It's spicy and warm yet still light, with a hint sweetness that makes me want to keep smelling it on my skin for hours straight

lilyyy.c

I got a small decant of this, and right out of the bottle it smells kind of like sunscreen! Then there's something like a natural herbal bug spray I used to use - which was lemongrass and geranium - but that fades away. (I don't actually like the smell of geraniums but this was a nice note that blended well.) Then there's a waxy vanilla bean tone that I get, like a really good candle. Warm and light - 'Cozy' makes sense as a description for this.

It's interesting how differently different people experience this! I got it because I wanted to try the 'real pumpkin / vegetable' scent but I can't pick up on that. It's not my usual kind of thing but it's very well-done and I'll probably wind up using the whole decant.

Helloneighbor

I’m really confused where people are getting warm pumpkin or ginger scents, unless I was given the wrong sample. On my skin I didn’t get any of that and instead got a really soapy floral that and a Touch of BO. Really strange. I was hoping for a warm ginger pumpkin pie scent but got none of that. Very disappointed.

PetyaN

Today I got the Discovery set of Etat Libre d'Orange, and this was the first mini bottle
I tested. I will review the others too in the upcoming days.
This is a comforting and a cozy scent.
It opened as yummy, spicy homemade cake
with a prominent pumpkin and ginger taste.
Very cozy, very yummy.
A faint floral scent I got from it, too.
Somehow I got a vision and a smell of a brand new carpet?!
Still I am wondering why.
Maybe some synthetics I got too, that's why.
Now, one hour later I still smell it on my wrist.
And it smells exactly the same as Pure musk by Narcisso Rodrigues.
Exactly the same but weaker.
Only weak musk stayed from the whole perfume.
The ginger was the most remarkable difference but it was gone half and hour after spraying.
Sillage and projection are weak. Like, very weak.
This is the second Etat Libre d'Orange perfume
I tried so far (first was Ghost in the shell), and then I was disappointend by the sillage and the projection of it.
But now they are even weaker in Like this.
Yes, I "Like this" and I even would "Love this" but
Etat Libre d'Orange, please - think about how to increase the longevity and projection of your perfumes.
Because they are really nice.
And yes - I know they have another perfumes with a strong sillage but not the most interesting. POV, I guess.
As a whole, mostly because of the weak projection and longevity, I am giving to this 6/10.

moorejay341

This is a beautiful powdery and green scent. It's a combo I didn't know I needed in my life, but sadly the projection isn't there at all. I sprayed it all over my skin and clothes but still don't smell it unless I sniff my wrists. That is a big bummer, because it is such a delicate and beautiful scent. It reminds me of the smell of a new teddy bear or baby doll - which is strange, I know, but it smells like that in the best possible way. It is a very cozy scent.

Vetiverynice

This is such a weird one for me. I really wish I liked it, but I think it’s just too different from what I want out of a perfume like this. The pumpkin note is vegetal and reminds me of the stringy, slimy, raw guts that get scooped out and thrown away. For a pumpkin note, I would have preferred roasted and a little caramelized.

The performance isn’t horrible - it lasted most of a workday on my arms, even though I applied it right after a shower. It doesn’t strike me as particularly masculine or feminine (everyone should wear what they like, anyway, regardless of the intended market of a fragrance) and it also doesn’t really scream daytime or nighttime, either. I wish I understood why so many people seem to like this, but unfortunately, I don’t think there’s any person on whom or situation in which I would enjoy smelling this fragrance.

aleckzandurh

Warm and inviting with a sweet, earthy palette.

I've had this tester for a while now, but I always forget to try it out come September or October. It reads so strongly of the autumn season that it seems out of character to try it out during any other time of the year! But this year, I finally remembered to give it a go. From start to finish, the overall effect of Like This is really warm and cozy. Whether it's the sun on the packaging, or the fact that pumpkin and immortelle are thrown around as key notes, I can’t help but associate this fragrance with warm colors—the yellows and oranges of harvest season veggies and the neutral browns of the hand-woven baskets used to store them.

I can see the connection between this and the old-timey feel of American folklore, worn quilts, and the humble countryside cottages where grandmothers might reside. For me though, the powdery scent really feels like the back-to-school season for a kindergartener in the fall. Classrooms trimmed with fake autumn leaves and lined with poster paper in red and yellow with the names of each student clearly written in black marker, finished with a kind teacher standing by the doorway to welcome you in.

I haven’t decided if I’ll purchase a full bottle, but I think it’s a lovely scent nonetheless.

Kaylovely

If you like this you will love Memories by The Gate!

NataliePee

I didn't end up liking any of the Etat Libre scents that I sampled. There's something food co-op-ish about every scent that I find offputting. Like This is no exception. At first it seems like it could be a beautiful bright vegetal scent, but it quickly dries down to be powdery, musky, musty and elderly. It smells like shopping at the food co-op while someone changes a diaper a few aisles away. I personally do not detect the "sweet, warm, spicy" at all, much more herbal and green than I anticipated. Other people have commented that it smells like "autumn" "pumpkin spice" or "fall candle" and I very much disagree. For me, it's all musky dried herbs, onion skins, kombucha, and decomposition.

Every scent from this house smells like my organic vegan hippie friends whose homes I won't eat at because they glean food from the dumpsters behind grocery stores in the middle of the night.

MadMadCat

It starts with a fresh citrus, bittersweet, and it quickly evolves in a more floral composition. I can't really smell the rose, probably because of the bitterness of the citrus The immortelle is quite predominant, as well as the heliotrope, and with them the scent makes a U-turn and becomes sweet and slightly gourmand. The sweetness of the heliotrope is balanced by the vetiver, which I usually dislike, but in this case it fits. It smells like autumn greens, in a strange way. Very unique. Sadly, as it dries down, the vetiver is the most persistent of the scents, and it ends up smelling like a men's after shave. I find this quite unisex and could be irresistible on a man.

likesleet

sharp and spicy orange blossom but also kind of soft. fall. august september

Jennie2113

It's mid-Autumn as I arrive to my grandparent's small country home. The grass is dry and the air is chilled, but there are still pumpkins and squash growing in the garden. Flowers bloom in pots on the porch. I know when I step inside the cold will melt away. The air will be softly scented with ginger-spiced cakes fresh from the oven, and dinner will be ready soon. I am at home.

Every time I wear this it feels like getting a hug from my grandmother, and I don't want it to end.

ShinningLightOfThunder

It’s cosy and warm, and it has a somewhat dated sense which is actually why it quite draws me to try it out some more

gracem27

At the initial spray it smelled so green, but the dry down is very powdery and smells like freshly picked raw pumpkin and squash, all sorts of fall veggies. It has good longevity, but unfortunately the silage is terrible and you cannot smell it unless you put your nose to your arm after 2 hours.

BigSmeller42

opened up with a visceral powdery scent that reminded me of a thin graceful, mature woman. It immediately settled down into something more chewy and familiar. Another interesting scent from ELDO

Lexdubbss

I really love this perfume. I do wish the dry down wasn’t so powdery. I will be hunting for something similar to this with the ginger/pumpkin/tangerine without the powder aspect that all of this houses fragrances have on my skin. However, I enjoy it enough to get past the powder. This perfume is so long lasting, unsure if others can smell me but I can get it on my skin a whole day which is unusual.

Dmiddy

When I first smelled this in a paper test strip, it quickly turned to urine, like a puppy had piddled in the middle of a rug. I like this more on skin. While it starts off stringent, like an air freshener, it quickly morphs into that warm and earthy pumpkin. I am not sure if I like it, love it, or want to pass. An enigma!

Mishitsu

this unique fragrance is an auspicious take on just the perfect gourmand fragrance. authentic like Tilda, warm, nostalgic, sunny, sweet and I just adore the pumpkin in it. The only problem I have with this fragrance is that it at least on my skin was too feminine for my taste otherwise this would be my new signature fragrance

Lucidkitsch

I am an adamant lover of all things fall, so I was excited to try this perfume since the notes are autumnal and warm. I want to love this, it isn't bad by any means...the scent is actually enjoyable. The issue is I can't get over the fact that this smells like a fall candle isle at TJ Maxx. I think I would wear this for some fall activities like pumpkin carving or a haunted house, but not much else.

bunnyamaretto

love the concept, love the poem it’s named after. unfortunately this fragrance is RANK on my skin. on first spray i get a lot of ginger - dry ground ginger, like i put my head in the spice cabinet. as it develops i start to notice some fresh cut grass and raw pumpkin. in the dry down all i can smell is milk, which i pick up in many eldo fragrances. maybe a touch of dirty armpit.. reminds me of my hippie college days. all that said… it’s not for me

sophiafinley

This isn't one of the perfumes my grandma wears (one of them is viva la juicy, imagine that) but this smells like her house and her hugs. Not saying that this smells old lady-ish, but it feels comforting and nostalgic. To me it is soapy clean, powdery, bright from the pumpkin and tangerine, and a slight hint of spicy gingerbread cookie. Some scents aren't necessarily what I would want to wear but I feel happy smelling it and would maybe enjoy it as a candle.

Comicalcupcake

I really like this. From the notes I expected something geared more toward fall. But I could really see this working in all seasons. It looks like I'm in the minority on that opinion though. I smell pumpkin (actual pumpkin, not nutmeg and clove calling itself pumpkin), immortelle, and vanilla. I am going to love this sample to death and then upgrade to a travel size. Nothing else I own smells like this.

dsgnmind

Opens up as fresh flowers, but quickly turns to caramel popcorn, settling into a slightly trashy and musty burnt almond? Not sure I LIKE where THIS is going. Later on it stays more on the buttery caramel popcorn side but later in the day (3 hrs) it's more of a slight burnt almond thing. There's still something a tiny bit stingy in there, almost like two positives are creating a negative. I test these blind, not knowing the name, notes, etc. In looking at the notes now, I see my burnt almond could be the hay, tobacco elements of the immortelle, but pumpkin? I don't get pumpkin anything, pie, spice, or latte. Some of this brand's fragrance's don't project much and this is one. Sits more intimate, and after three hours, not much is left. After six hours, only a faint memory which really could be a placebo effect that you 'think' you can still smell it. Doesn't lean masculine or feminine to me, just a little stingy. If it's going to be LIKE THIS, I'm likely not going to spend any money on it. Sad face.

onlythesun321

Starts off really strong and spicy (but sweet spicy, and I don't dislike it), but then dries into a sweet, spiced orange-- and after 2 or 3 hours it smells EXACTLY like fresh gingerbread, but by that point it's very faint and you have to put your nose to your wrist to smell it. (To be fair, I only got a sample and the sprayer isn't great, so I could see it doing better on other people.)

Overall very nice, and in my experience more wearable than most other ELDO scents, but relatively weak. However, I think it's good for all seasons-- could even be a signature scent if it works well for you! It's got a little bit of that autumnal pumpkin spice vibe, but the warmth could do well in winter, and the sweet citrusy notes work well in spring and summer.

I probably won't be getting a whole bottle, but if you like the sound of the notes and the diversity of the ways this one can be worn, I'd totally recommend it!

Thatbwoy

During the summer I prefer lighter scents; those that veer toward ephemeral. I think if you were going to describe Tilda Swinton, then 'Ephemeral. would do. I like this, really do, like it quite a bit but cannot see myself wearing it, not because its 'too feminine' _ I would be comfortable wearing that leans toward female, heck I'd wear something 'female'. I don't fear assumptions about my sexuality. No I couldn't wear this because in my head it does fit with any aesthetic (so something shallow)...I have wear a fragrance like a mask at time, and I don't have a 'Mask' that fits this scent. I like it but I cannot wear because it just does not fit an image of myself.

pfft...

Anyway I really like the miasma of notes and how they interact to produce this almost linear but deep scent. It sets on the skin like a sweet mellow fug, I can almost sense its presence, when I wore it to test out. A shame I cannot get 'over myself' as this would work well during the summer and spring later afternoon/early evening sun.

fantomette

This is indescribable so I’ll attempt to describe it like this….pretty soap that’s headache inducing. Really cute though ! The immortelle is very strong in this one and gives it a slight earthy facet. I will update later.

The next day, it’s still pretty strong on my wrist. Now it’s a cinnamon-y crème brûlée scent. Not bad !

I really wanted to like this! Maybe all the reviewers saying it was spicy and cozy were spraying it on? I had a sample vial and all I got was a generic lotion scent, floral, with a cloying neroli and a little ginger. I washed with soap and water a few times and tried removing it with rubbing alcohol, but it remains. It is certainly very strong.

marigoldmarigold

this is such a cute fragrance, it has a slightly bitter opening but when it settles it’s pure heaven especially if you like pumpkin and spice. the strong sillage is what makes it feminine and mature, while it still channels your inner child with the sweet notes combined with ginger.

springside

What a delightful fragrance! It's spicy and warm yet still airy! It's like sitting under a tree on a crisp fall afternoon. I'm a huge fan of this scent, it reminds me of going to my aunt's house after apple picking and picking out pumpkins. There's a distinct pumpkin/vegetal scent but it's very classy and pairs well with the ginger warmth. Something that'd go well with a cashmere sweater and a warm mug of spiced cider.

brokesta911

ELDO Like This (2010) - spiced pumpkin - #mathildebijaoui ‘s creation has a very distinct journey across the life of the perfume. First, it starts off with bright Neroli mixed zesty Ginger and Oranges. Then, the flowers come into play with Rose and powdery Heliotrope. I assumed this was the journey of the perfume and was already assuming a disappointment, then suddenly, the perfume got darker in the dry down. Honey-like Immortelle, stewed Pumpkins and cooking spices were a wonderful surprise and intensifies with White musks. Delightful.

meredithxx

Very spicy. It reminds me of a head shop I spent time in when I was a teenager that sold CDs & incense & such. It literally smells just like that. The warmth is there though, I could see this working well on someone in the fall.

NadiaJozi

This perfume smells like human being to me, it may seems funny, but I really feel it can be a clean person's smell! From the first time I tested it, I had this feeling ... It seems that this perfume is more than a fragrance, and while it is not familiar, it can be very intimate and penetrate the mind! Of course, it does not smell like me, but it can be the smell of a friend or someone I am going to meet ... or the smell of my lover or my soulmate. All in all, it is more than a perfume for me…like a memory or a person I have not experienced yet, but it has always been with me.

venusbruises

This smells like cooked carrots to me. Carrot soup with ginger. I get no florals whatsoever?? I guess I'll have to try this again in the autumn and see if works better but for now this is a no.

A Reflection of the Heart

Gorgeous fall/winter scent. Yes rustic cabin cozy. But also yes elegant and classy. I received it as part of Disovery Kit. It was an amazing gift. I am enjoying all the fragrances, and this one is a special favorite. I am a city mouse who likes to travel out and about... and who lives in the country. So it suits me very well. You may or may not like. Sample first would be my recommendation.

muzzbait

Mostly getting a gourmand citrus with traces of musk lurking way back in the shadows...
It is quite an uplifting scent, and for me, the pumpkin element plays a base-role, so to speak.
It's not the kinda scent I normally go for, but I have enjoyed it.
Definitely worth a try...

Glyph

This would make a good gift for people who typically don't like perfume, because it's so easy on the nose. It blends beautifully with other scents and is no way offensive. You can certainly smell it when you wear it, but it produces neither a strong projection nor a strong sillage. It most smells to me like soft florals and spicy baked goods, like a frangipani tart, with dominant notes of drier flowers (heliotrope and neroli) backed up by spices. I honestly can't smell much of the pumpkin in this, but my guess is that this is because when i think of pumpkin i think of the overspiced concoctions forced on foods and coffees in the colder months. The pumpkin in this i would suppose adds more texture than anything else.

This is so inoffensive it would make a perfect office fragrance for men or for women, although at the same time if you were expecting something that would make other people exclaim in wonder, "Why, you smell just like Tilda Swinton!" you might be disappointed. This works very much against her image, which I always think of as edgy and anti-Establishment, even though she participated in the creation of this. This is just quiet pleasantness instead.

strongerwithglue

It appears that people get a lot of different things from this. Pumpkin is certainly the star for me. It reminds me of the spiced pumpkin filling that goes in a pumpkin pie, backed up by a fairly standard smelling floral profile from the 90s. It’s familiar enough that it’s easy for me to like and unique enough to keep my interest.

artemiss

I wanted this to be a pumpkin latte spicy fall scent, but that wouldn't be accurate. It is pumpkin, but those little sweet candy pumpkins that are close cousins of candy corn, sweet and a little chewy, and then some candied ginger. The drydown has a lightly dry powdery element, I am guessing that is the immortelle and heliotrope. I really do like it, and find it cozy and wearable, but somehow doesn't fit the image I get when I read the notes.

OnTheNose1982

This smells like sunshine to me. Like tilting your head up to catch the rays on your face. I’d have to re-smell to be sure, but it reminds me of Elizabeth Arden’s Sunflower. It has that sense of vague familiarity like you’re being transported somewhere in your past without conjuring up a specific scene.

I get lots of yellow flowers supported by neroli and other white flowers (I get jasmin). When I put my nose right up to my wrist I get the ginger’s warmth. And maybe a hint of dry tobacco? Or sweet grass? Hay? Something like a dry grass or herb. That may also be because this reminds me of Jasmin and Cigarettes also by ELDO, so maybe I’m looking for the tobacco.

While some may think of this as a fall scent because of the pumpkin and ginger notes (I don’t get pumpkin), to me it’s a spring scent. For those of us in colder climates who are willing the warmth and sunshine of spring experienced elsewhere to be here already, this is a scent that brings the sunshine to you even on a grey day like today.

This has great staying power even on my thirsty skin and definitely stays on clothes. Unisex (I stole this from my partner’s collection) but leans feminine. Though I wouldn’t be mad about smelling this on my partner.

KöbiD

This is a lovely perfume for early spring days because it combines spicy warm notes, ginger and tangerine, with floral wafts. At this point, it shortly reminds me of London by Burberry. Honestly, I would be lying if I said that I could distinctly smell the pumpkin accord. It could be that the pumpkin contributes to the warmth that this fragrance exudes right after spraying… Once dried down, the dry and herbaceous smell of the immortelle is most prominent to my nose.

Deelecto

Like This is very close to my heart. Upon discovering the niche world I went to a store with a few great brands and walked out with this one, and for a while my “fragrance shelf” was just this one lonely (lovely) bottle. A few earnest thoughts to try to do it justice:

1. A fragrance that captures your attention the moment you smell it. Unique yet familiar. Beautifully structured and balanced. An instant classic you can’t quite get out of your head.

2. The scent throws down “unisex” as a challenge, with specifically masculine and feminine elements in unstable equilibrium. Someone who is not open-minded to fragrance and holds very defined gender lines for scents will be challenged - men finding it too feminine and women too masculine to wear. There’s a very interesting dialogue here with the presence of Tilda Swinton, who played androgynous roles like Orlando, had a number of roles in Derek Jarman’s films, etc. It can seem a bit crass and diminutive to present this as a “celebrity” perfume, but they have used that concept in a thoughtful and compelling way here.

3. Some scents paint a scene. This one does something much more subtle - it operates on the nostalgic register of a specific memory. Being in a kitchen in autumn, late afternoon light filtering through the window over the sink. A woman wearing a classic perfume is baking a sweet and spiced dessert in the oven. Whose memory is this? Why do I, an interloper, visit it with a tear in my eye?

LuciaBer

Immediately I got a burst of ginger and spice. It almost is like black licorice and very strongly musky. I agree this is very unisex, but leaning towards masculine in my opinion. Definitely a fall and winter fragrance. This would be way too musky for the summer. The sillage is big on this one so spritz sparingly! I don't love a sillage that someone can smell from a mile away so that's why this one doesn't fit the bill for me, but if that's your thing, I'd say go for it. It's earthy and almost gothic in a way. I agree with others that this is not a safe blind buy. The dry down is more powdery, less in your face, but still strong. It becomes sweeter in the dry down. It still reminds me of a biting down on a big piece of ginger though!

Jgreene

This scent reminds me of little kids that just ate something sweet and sticky an hour ago that has since dried on their gross little fingers.

fairycoffins

Earthy, musky pumpkin spice with some floral softness sprinkled in. That’s the best way I can describe this? This is 100% fall, but not a dark/nighttime/Halloween type of fall scent. I don’t detect any tangerine at any phase of this, but the other notes listed definitely make sense. I could see why this has been mostly voted as unisex, but I would not say this is a safe blind buy for anyone. It’s a like for me, not a love. The longevity is above average, though, so that’s nice. :)

jcooley159

This is a strange fragrance that's really hard from me to classify. It's kind of got this smell like a cold fall day and and a warm cabin? Mild curry and baking bread?I kind of get the ginger and grain-y/bread-y/rice-powder-y note, along with the smell of decaying leaves? It tiptoes a weird line between something you could smell out walking in nature and something you might smell walking into a craft store like Michael's. It smells a little more spicy on the test strip than it does on my skin, but either way I don't smell any tangerine, vetiver, or flowers at all, and I'm not a huge fan of the scent in general. Overall, I think it's a very strange, niche fragrance that some people might enjoy, but because it's so *out there* I would definitely recommend not blind buying an entire bottle.

Message me if you'd like my sample!

FuNuFFu

Yeah, this smells like walking into someone's cozy, warm little autumn cottage only to realize you didn't really want to be there in the first place.

spigel

the pumpkin here is a fantasy note. burnt sugar vanilla with spices and some orange blossom. Together they smell pumpkin spice-adjacent, but it’s pretty unconvincing

ntlzhng

A very warm, dry pumpkin scent. To me, it smells like a baked pumpkin infused with some kind of heady musk and immortelle. At first whiff, the scent gives me the vision of an expensive but cozy refurbished cabin in the woods owned by a millionaire recluse. It's spicy and woodsy, but also clean and inoffensive if you don't douse yourself in it. Definitely a unisex, all-occasion scent.

DiscoPolga

Interesting how this develops in so many different ways, at least based on the reviews! I get neroli and ginger in the opening and it's really nice and refreshing. It develops into pumpkin, but I wouldn't call it a pumpkin latte or anything else sweet & spicy. On me it smells really perfume-y, a bit sharp and artificial. It's a shame cause the opening is fantastic.

erika.isme.98

After spraying this on a blotting paper, along with 11 other fragrances separately, this was the only scent I couldn't tell had been sprayed after 30 minutes. It just smelled like paper.

On the initial spray, I can smell it for sure, but not in a good way. Probably just not a fan of how pumpkin and immortelle smell in perfumes. I'm honestly grossed out by it and really dislike it.

My boyfriend thought it was decent but I don't. I'm sorry Tilda Swinton! You're amazing!

hinokiki

Love this!!! If the general pumpkin spice scent/flavor is basic (and I think it is), this is a more refined and slightly eccentric version. Opens spicier for me with strong ginger, dries down and more of the pumpkin comes out (I think it's the pumpkin... it might be the immortelle since i'm not familiar with that note) but so do the florals, and it balances nicely.

cjoudas

I slept on this one for a long time, and I'm glad I did. The first time I sniffed it was in late spring, and I remember being unimpressed - My first impression was not *One Note*, but maybe like 1.5 note. One whole note sharp, spicy, literal ginger, with half a note of lubriderm.
Since it's colder out, I decided to give Like This another chance. While it's still smells predominantly of ginger and soapy, clean lotion, the combination feels very appropriate for winter and late fall, and I've found myself really liking it.
Truly, I don't have the keenest senses in the world, but I can't be the only one who thinks pumpkin is a sham. I've buried my face in a jack-o'-lantern before, but to my nose it's just cool, wet earth with the barest touch of pale melon. I'm not getting any of that here. That much said, my previous view of the complexity of this fragrance has changed. The vetiver adds a nice spicy depth, and is balanced back to cleanliness by the floral notes.
The ELDO sample set is huge, and Like This is not in my top five, but I definitely like it and plan to use out the sample.

APurplePig

I don't know why, but this smells so milky to me. Like a...spicy milk porridge.

GenevaX

The reviews of this run the gamut, so I approached it trepidatiously. To my surprise, this is really beguiling to my nose. There's a beautiful juxtaposition of the bucolic vegetal facets and classic floral perfumery. The pumpkin note is abstract, its waxiness shape-shifting between glossy gourd skin and lipstick. There's a distinct presence of earthiness and spiciness, and yet the powdery florals meld powdered spices into powdered cosmetics. I find it all very clever. It's as though Guerlain collaborated with woodland satyrs on an autumnal fragrance. For me, it's an unexpected love.

TWalkins

This is Thanksgiving day in a bottle. Spicy, warm, a little herbal, a touch of drying vegetation. It's a fragrance that will warm you up on any cold day in late fall and throughout winter. If you want something to remind you of the Holidays, I always recommend Like This, Burberry London, and Noel Au Balcon. 8/10

jerryyanis

'Like This' is a perfect autumn-themed fragrance: Harvest in a bottle. Pumpkin and ginger are the most prominent notes in the opening, almost resembling a Thanksgiving dessert at first. However, the pretty floral notes restrain the scent a bit and keep it from veering into gourmand territory. This reminds me of walking through an orchard or a field of pumpkins during mid-fall, as the air begins to chill and the leaves have changed colors. A very happy experience.

bleukreuz

This smells very similar but ever so slightly weaker Carthusia's Terra Mia minus the coffee note. Very pleasant, I would say unisex but leans feminine as it smells like what my mother used to wear in her younger years. Funnily enough it doesn't remind me of any pumpkin.

takema

I find the opening quite intriguing. It's this interesting slightly waxy vegetal scent, like the outer skin of the pumpkin. That fairly quickly fades away. I personally wish this had lasted longer. The pumpkin with the ginger and tangerine settle into something that smells a bit like pumpkin pie, but it's not particularly sweet or gourmand. The immortelle and/or vetiver give it a dry grassy base that keeps it from veering into PSL territory. I find it does get a bit sweeter and spicier in the deep drydown.

Like This is a unisex fragrance that I find perfect for a crisp fall day. The slightly spicy pumpkin and dried grass just screams autumn. Wonderfully cozy.

I have worn this a few times. The first time I wore my usual 4 sprays and found this fragrance a little underwhelming. It was quite light and didn't really project. I also didn't get a lot of the notes. Since, I have applied eight sprays and it performs how I want it to. I think the sillage is one of the most beautiful parts of this fragrance and it needed a heavier application to really bloom. I find it lasts 8-9 hours on my skin. It projects beautifully for 3-4 hours then becomes a little more intimate fort he rest of the wear. I could easily smell it on my clothes until I washed them.

Etat Libre D'Orange fragrances are a quite reasonably priced niche house, only marginally more expensive than most designer brands, When they show up at discounters, they are often a steal. Like This is a bit unique, but still easy to wear and enjoy.

TrissMerigold

I grown up on a farm in a middle of nowhere. Life was simple and it was tough. I remember hard work on a fields and a dream about leaving that place and going to a big city full of bright lights and classy, elegant people. My dream eventually came truth but it disappointed me painfully. I want to be back to the old cottage, where we all gathered around the fireplace and eat jam sandwiches. Where Mum stored carrots and apples in boxes full of hay. She makes a bouquets from herbs and dried flowers and hangs them around the house...The smell of frost on November morning and smell of the air just before it stars snowing. The smell of wet soil, root vegetables, dried flowers and frozen puddles. I do not know how they did this but all of this is in this fragrance... This fragrance just brings it all. Absolute masterpiece. I miss home and I will be back soon. Love you Mum (Kocham Cie Mamo!). x

*loves_shoes*

I really like this. I only sprayed a tiny amount though. It’s a bit fruity, and without looking at the notes I wouldn’t have said pumpkin, I thought more of a soft subtle glacé cherry kind of smell. And balsamic vinegar, but that is probably the ginger mixing with the other notes. It does smell of fruit pie, with a sugary pastry crust, but I think it’s more of a baked cherry pie than a pumpkin pie, definitely none of your pumpkin spice candle smell here. The longer it’s on the skin the more the ginger and floral notes emerge. It really is nice. The lingering scent on my skin is a sweet tangerine Rose.

Edit: so I bought a 100ml bottle. It really is lovely and quite an unusual floral, with a yummy dry down, so I thought I’d best get the big one as I’m likely to need to overspray it haha.

Edit: now I’ve had this a year I feel I can give a better review. Spray a handful of sprays and the Sillage is amazing. Gingery spice, warm and autumnal, that projects like crazy.

jessr777

It’s fine. Personally, I don’t care for the ginger and pumpkin. It’s a very photorealistic, raw pumpkin. Not like a PSL type sweet pumpkin pie smell. Overall, it’s just blah to me.

u24masonl

This is such a lovely Autumn fragrance. One to wear on the days - and evenings - where you can see your breath in the air and the sky is clear. The pumpkin is delicious without being overwhelming, although don't expect to smell like a pumpkin spiced latte. This scent is sophisticated, well rounded and smells expensive. To my nose it is also a little boozy and a little spicy. It is comforting but cool and classy - far from 'mum baking cookies in her apron'.

Wear this to the office to make an 'I'm the boss' statement, or wear in the evening to a smart cocktail bar.

venussansfurs

I wanted something with a pumpkin note but not too gourmand so this looked interesting. It's pumpkin with a lot of ginger and some orange and musk. Not bad, though I wish it had more of a base because it's a bit thin and linear. Long-lasting and strictly for autumn.

RainbowGirl

I think the fragrance is pretty, but I do not like the smell of the inside of a pumpkin, and nose to skin, that is what jumps out at me. I think it's a beautiful fragrance, with an amazing scent aura, but it's not for me.

brionica1013

Like This is sweet and spicy without being cloying or choking. It's rather linear which is fine by me, and has excellent sillage. It does kind of remind me of home in the autumn, if your home is rural and rustic instead of in the city. It doesn't smell like any other perfume I've come across and yet it's very wearable.

HoneyRum

I like this, the review that said it smells like a pile of bath bombs is spot on, the first time I sprayed it my first thought was “it smells like walking into lush” which for me is positive bc I love that smell. It lasts a really long time (like I can smell it on my skin and clothes over 12 hours later) but on me it basically becomes a skin scent after like 2 hours or so, so as far as performance it has great longevity but really poor sillage on me personally. I’m glad to have this in my collection but if and when I use it up I don’t think I’ll repurchase.

scnofthcrime

My very, very first impression when I smelled this was "oh! This smells like walking into a Lush store!" I'm getting orange, pumpkin, a sweet spiciness that my brain wants to interpret as cinnamon, but maybe it's just immortelle and ginger together. It even has this note that reads as "pile of bath bombs" on me. I love it.

haleyscents

Very unique. It reminds me of sliced pumpkin covered in bourbon barrel aged maple syrup & lots of musky hay + tobacco. Not something I can wear on it's own, personally.

luciferrrsam

I'm a fan of this one! I love the pumpkin note, it smells like when you're carving a pumpkin. like pumpkin guts. I like it, but I can't imagine wearing this in any season other than fall so I probably won't buy a full bottle

MabelSyrup

Ooh! This is a good one. There's something undergirding the sweeter, spicier notes that's a bit dirty, like cigarettes, dead leaves, or even jasmine. This gives it complexity and elevates it from a more traditional, cozy "pumpkin spice" fall fragrance. It's like a walk in the woods on one of those dazzling blue-skied fall days, under sun-dappled orange and golden leaves.

kimberly.b.stone

The stated notes are: Yellow tangerine, ginger, immortelle flower, Moroccan Neroli, Grasse rose, vetyver, heliotrope, musks. I get only the hint of tangerine, as more of an idea than a scent, light ginger, more immortelle, no Neroli, no rose, slightest vetyver, plenty of heliotrope, generous musk. Another note is pumpkin. It is not, thank the Goddess, pumpkin spice. It's like ... a vegetable. A pumpkin without the pie spice is pretty neutral, slightly sweet smelling. In Like This, it's a bit like the pumpkin spaces everything out so each note can speak its own voice.

So much about this fragrance is familiar, but when they're all together something very slightly different comes out. Synchronicity. Sort of appropriate for Rumi. Singular but inseparable.

Different, but very wearable. Autumnal, for sure. Warm, but not a burny sort of warm like too much cinnamon gum. Nostalgic like a hug you love remembering. I don't know if this is 'me' but it could be you, and if it were you, you'd be special and I'd hug you.

alyllauren

This smells really autumnal and cozy while still being offbeat and different. Pretty good sillage without being overwhelming; I could smell it on myself if I concentrated, but it wasn't overpowering or noticeable. A lot of reviews suggesting this is an autumn elementary school classroom or a craft store around Halloween, but I didn't have that experience... This is more like the quirky cousin of a niche perfume line--nothing quite so evocative. On me, it was like a warm, spicy floral. The immortelle and ginger come through the most, with the heliotrope keeping it light and the musk for depth. Got a 5-6 hr weartime from this.

SailorV

A wild mix of contrasting notes that comes out surprisingly nice and wearable. It's like eating a pumpkin spice pie with a novel zesty tangerine glaze under a line of freshly washed clothes on the last sunny but windy day in October. Not that I ever did that, but I imagine it to smell... like this (hah!).
This is a warming and spicy scent that also has very clean and fresh floral notes. Immortelle in spicy scents sometimes smells too savory to my nose, like a curry instead of a perfume. Luckily this doesn't happen here. It's more of a cinnamon-tinged salted caramel scent. The pumpkin also doesn't smell too vegetal, it's more of a fantasy note in my opinion, like a pumpkin infused dessert instead of full-on pumpkin soup.
I was surprised how noticeable the florals and the fluffy white musk are in this, especially in the drydown. Without them Like This would maybe cross the line to a novelty autumn candle scent, but with them it's a unique, balanced perfume. I can imagine that this combination is not for everyone though. I'm not even sure it's for me. Testing was great fun and I find the fragrance good and pleasant, I just don't think it's what I want to smell like. But that's fine. Even though I'm not a big Tilda Swinton fan I would have been disappointed if she put her name on some crowd-pleasing perfectly inoffensive everyday fragrance.
Like This is definitely a unique scent unlike anything else and I think it conveys the idea of a magic potion with the scent of home really well.

KymIndigo

Like This is such a unique and interesting fragrance unlike anything I've smelt before. Immortelle and sweet pumpkin are very strong right from the beginning and I was so unprepared for it. After it settles it includes vetiver, musk, helitrope, a touch of tangerine and maybe nutmeg, but the honeyed-hay and spicy sweet pumpkin definitely has centre stage.

I'm in Australia and we don't get proper "Fall" season like our northern hemisphere counterparts, so I feel like the intended nostalgic Fall vibe is probably lost on me. It's a very specific scent and here in Aus I can't imagine where we'd have an opportunity to wear it, but I can imagine it being very fitting during Fall up in the USA or EU.

ai119

smells like an elementary school classroom during the september october november months :) super cute. longevity is not that good, only lasted about 4 hours

Ruderthanyou

I got a sample of this, probably because I love everything about Tilda Swinton, I guess, and because I was searching for some good Fall fragrance. But this .. I cannot stand it! I sprayed it on my wrist and it just smells like orange peel or something similar, this is pretty much all I get, even after a few hours it'sjust unpleasant to me personally.. Nothing about it does anything good for me, I can't help it. Tried again the next day, and it did not change my mind. So I don't know, maybe i'll just throw those 5ml away, although I rarely do this, if nothing else i spray it inside my closets, wear it at home or something, but this one - i don't even want anything to smell of it. As always, i'm sure it can be nice on somebody else.

TabledThoughts

This is a gentle, slightly warm yet fresh, unassumingly thoughtful fragrance.
Unisex and more than the sum of it's parts.
Well blended.
I know the composition is based on endearing scent memories from actress 'Tilda Swinton's childhood. Not unlike Serge Lutens' creations this perfume has a story to convey and is completely personal.
The notes of gingery pumpkin, or Immortelle or Heliotrope is for none other than the person who inspired this perfume to understand. It is for we perfume lovers to either like or dislike.

I like.
Just Like This.

magnolia_xx

I had great expectations about this fragrance, as I love autumn and the description seemed to summarize all things autumnal, but something went wrong.
I wonder if it’s my nose's fault, as I seem to be anosmic to some of its notes.
As I sprayed it on my arm, I could smell a big blast of fresh ginger and then... nothing. After some time something sweet appeared, a very faint pumpkin pie smell, like my neighbour had just cooked something nice. Unfortunately, to get this I had to keep my nose stuck to my skin. Really odd!
But the final straw that made me give up with Like This was a stale smoke smell in the drydown, that proved to have an incredible longevity, as the next morning it still lingered on my skin.
I am not very lucky with ELDO, as their perfumes never seem to work on me. Not sure why :(

frag-overdose

Like This opens with a soothing and calming notes which I have no idea what they are. I couldn’t say it’s the citrus or the pumpkin or the ginger. Maybe it’s the heliotrope or some other notes.

Yet, the opening blast does remind me of one of my favourite perfumes, Ferre For Men by Gianfranco Ferre.

I love the opening so much and I wish Like This would just have stayed that way but instead it soon smells somewhat spicy, kind like a curry mix, and whatnot.

Well, to me this unusual fragrance is not really my cup of tea though I wish it was. A great scent but maybe Like This just not meant for me, for now.

Will give it a few more tries and be ready for the surprise it brings.

Juspaigeme

Smells like fall in a bottle. Such a comforting vibe. The pumpkin and spices mix beautifully with the creamy florals and citrus. If you’re a lover of all things fall, you need to try like this.

emerson10

To my nose, the heliotrope is the most dominant note in this frag, followed closely by ginger and pumpkin. I don't mind this fragrance at all, in fact, I enjoy it. I just don't know if I'd want to smell like it.

OK: picture your aunt who swaps her decor for each season (i.e., white pumpkins in the fall, nutcrackers at Christmas), and changes the napkins and soap and decor in the guest bathroom accordingly... OK, are you with me? This is the smell of the fancy guest bath liquid hand soap she would put in the bathroom for Fall. It's not smacking you in the face with pumpkin and cinnamon (how gauche!, jk, I'm all about it); but it's a total Fall smell, balanced by some lovely floral notes.

AyyHeyy

You can really detect all of the unique notes and I appreciate that. What I don't love is that the dry down smells like maple syrup, only. Reminiscent of accidentally getting syrup in my hair in elementary school and smelling it all day. I wish it stayed complex like the opening. It has fall vibes, for sure. I'll try my sample again in cooler weather.

amandavolpe

On my skin it smells like pumpkin curry. Very yummy. But not something I would like to smell of.

kindakiller

Totally reminds me of Micheals craft store when they bring out their fall items. This is what the world smelled like when I was a little girl. I wear this when I’m sad because it feels like a big hug. The immortelle, pumpkin and vetyver stand out to me most.

JenPin5

I liked it at first, but then it got too sweet and powdery floral with a hint of pumpkin spice latte. Like Hobby Lobby at thanksgiving.

aczwy

pleasant and feminine leaning but nothing terribly impactful or memorable for me

behemotha

I'm not into that feminine scents; however, this is not a typical one. The opening reminds me of raw carrots and wet roses. There's something that reminds me of an old lipstick, but in a good way. It's powdery though I can't really feel the pumpkin. Don't think that's suitable for warm days; may be a spring scent.

Thai_Florist

The smell of my memory when I hide to eat my mom’s candy, it’s called Fisherman’s Friend (Aniseed Flavor). It smells like that for 100% for me in the top note but when I wearing it in a hot day, it really impress me by the touch of sweet musk and I do love it so so much! I don’t have any connection with a pumpkin pie because it hard to find in Thailand, but I can imagine a warm room at the morning, the golden light hit the window and my mom came to me with something in her hands for me (it could be a pie or Fisherman’s Friend) but I absolutely love this fragrance so much.

silverpotter76

This stuff is superb. On me, it smells like fresh gardens, white flowers, ginger, and sweet musk. I think it might be a wee bit too feminine for some guys, but I adore it. I find it very alluring, and can’t wait to wear it to the bars this Summer honestly 😁 Some people have complained about the longevity and I agree it can fade quickly on the skin. However, I like to put a spritz in my hair, and that lasts until morning if I don’t shower before bed. A highly recommended scent, especially for Spring and Summer.

A nice perfume for fall with the notes of pumpkin, spices, etc. To my opinion, this fragrance is 100% unisex thanks the spices (not sweet), do not blind buy, it is very original.
7/10
In this brand, the ranking: Putain des Palaces (Fall and winter) = She was an anomaly (all seasons) > Like this (for fall) = Yes I do (for spring)

I love that Etat Libre d"Orange's Like This, which was inspired by the unearthly and surreal Tilda Swinton and her idea of a magic potion that smelled like the familiar grace of home. Greenhouses and kitchens and gardens and intriguing notes like yellow mandarin, pumpkin accord, Moroccan neroli, and heliotrope. I don't know if I was influenced by the copy, but: the connection of magic potions and kitchens, along with the initial hit of citrusy-ginger, fizzing and spiced as if glowing in cauldron, summoned for me the transcendent, transgressive art of Leonora Carrington's paintings of kitchens as magically charged spaces, as conjured through her singular and visionary filter. Floral, honeyed tobacco, an earthy spring greenness, and gentle musks bubble and brew alongside those first bright and zingy notes and the end result is a joyous creation that feels both celebratory and sacred.

Pamster

I wanted to love this but it's more of a really strong like because it just doesn't last on my skin. Beautifully balanced spice, citrus and florals. I can totally imagine Tilda Swinton smells Like This.

Daniela_Beatriz

I absolutely have no clue what imortelle supposed to smell like, but I believe is this note I feel is more prominent to my nose, since I don't get (sadly) the pumpkin and feel a sharp floral smell. I do feel very strongly the tobacco, so much that it reminisced ELDO Jasmin et cigarrette (that I love). The lasting power is absurd on my skin, I could smell it even after shower. Impressive, as I believe this one is hardly offensive and could easily be used to work. The sillage was also great, even though it does not fill a room, which I believe is what it supposed to be, very Tilda like. All in all, I like that very very much and was glad I purchased a full bottle - definitely worth it.

Edit: forgot to tell that I can detect a lot of ginger too, especially in the first hour. I believe this is so lovely that it doesn’t fall into any gender estereotipes.

njwooding

Big fan of what they've done here, managing to blend beautiful bright citrus notes with a darker, even slightly animalistic backdrop. It feels very comfortable and welcoming, while still keeping an aura of mystery.

mmxknna05

A warm day in early October. Warm and smoky with a taste of creamy floral. Immortelle has a very distinct earthy greeness like mimosa blossoms without the pollen. Blending Neroli, Ginger, and Pumpkin allow for an enveloping warmth and generosity like your favorite aunt.

elledeelee

Initially the ginger and pumpkin come across as a zingy "breakfast replacement juice" made with lots of carrot. Fizzy orange and citrus juices with a ginger kick and a vegetal undertone could start your day off right. And there's definitely a lot of ginger here! Then as it develops it becomes a sweet, very pretty floral.
Chic and elegant, while still unique, it has an ethereal and ever so slightly smoky quality. Underneath there are caramel biscuits and something dry and earthy. I especially enjoy the immortelle, and the pumpkin note, which I haven't come across in perfumery before.
Zesty, floral, and sparkling, as this develops it moves from breakfast to brunch to early evening, and evokes an image of an effortlessly sophisticated woman getting ready for an event; a wide leg trouser, bare shoulders, personalised jewellery, a slight wave to her hair.

lovesick

autumnal hues of sienna and flax. wilted leaves crunching under loafers. family trips to the mountains, appalachian avidity. drywall and carpet. traveling to grandparents' house and being met with a familiar scent in the air right as you walk in. freshly baked pumpkin bread sits upon the counter top alongside a half-peeled tangerine, on the windowsill sits a bear-shaped bottle of honey. clean blankets and sheets await you in the guest room.

you know the scent of walking into an house that isn't yours, before you've been desensitized to it, perhaps with newly-installed carpet?

CatBlanc

This is SO lovely - it has this compassionate quality - relatable, kind, and something that connects mankind.

It reminded me of the joy of exploring endless perfumes where I worked as a young student. The smell of scent-soaked fingers at the end of a work day.

I smell the hearty white and yellow flowers, flowers blooming organically in nature. I smell the golden sweet sun light and a lot of happiness in this perfume.

Though not highly similar, it reminds me of other fleshy/honeyed florals like LUBIN Epidor and JPG Classique EDT.

Absolutely adorable.

RJB94365

This is an extremely well-blended scent. The notes combine to form a scent memory of a warm soft pretzel.

Red Winter Sunset....

So, I really like this one. I have always been a fan of Etat Libre d'Orange for a long time now. I like the style and presentation. Ironically, I find their perfumes quite wearable (despite some of the controversial names), extremely so, and this one is no exception.

Tilda Swinton - Like This is a great concept. I do like the actress and I find this perfume matches her very well. I always see ginger as a "hot" and "fiery" note and I think this goes well with her red hair and unique personality. This is the second celebrity collaboration fragrance I's tried from this house, the first being Rossy de Palma - Eau de Protection. Again, that was a very wearable fragrance that I liked very much. I also really love the inclusion of the Rumi poem as part of the background & inspiration of the perfume. In some ways this perfume can be enjoyed on the simple, sensory level and also on an intellectual concept level as well.

To me the fragrance opens with a freshness (a freshness which comes as combination of the tangerine and from the ginger). In a way it reminds me almost of a hint of ginger beer/ginger ale in the top notes which can have a fiery background edge to it. I also think that the neroli mixes extremely well with the ginger to make this an almost fresh, spicy-floral fragrance. I then get the rest of the floral notes as a spring/summer bouquet of heliotrope, rose and almost a faint hint of white florals. I do get the immortelle and I find that note so chameleon-like in it's ability to stride the line of sweet and sour/savoury. I think the immortelle mixed with the hint of fiery ginger and cooled by the almost vanillic hint of heliotrope makes for a great ride through this fragrance. The almost burnt-caramel like nature of the immortelle with the ginger and sweet vanillic heliotrope does bring a gourmand hint reminiscent of gingerbread cookies (probably another inspiration from Tilda's childhood kitchen). I think that here Mathilde Bijaoui has been able to make a great balance between the hot-spicy notes and cool-sweet-powdery notes, and it works very well here.

Overall, I see this as very versatile, for the right kind of person. I think this will appeal to those who like their fragrances off-the-beaten-path. I think it has the niche-like aspects of the ginger-immortelle-"pumpkin" note combination. I find that this will appeal to a wide spectrum of "thinkers" for the "intellectual" aspects of the fragrance (the background development/backstory etc.) and I think on another level it will appeal to people who like spring floral fragrances with a hint of something different. I see this being extremely wearable in the changing and cooler seasons, and think that it would work just as well in spring/early summer as during autumn and winter. I would recommend it to those who want a light floral with a different dimension to the many spring/summer florals out there, and to people who want a fragrance to remind them of the autumn season. If you're a "bookish" type or a redhead, I think this would suit perfectly (as it reminds me of Tilda herself). It's also extremely accessible to pretty much anyone with a passion for perfume as well.

Its an ovepowering gourmand on me. Its not an unpleasant smell and not a chemically, artificial smell either but its just way too overbearing on my skin and to my nose for me to be comfortable in. I blind bought it because of the interesting notes, many of which, like the tangerine, are difficult to detect from underneath all that sugar and bakery. I do love heliotrope and the veiled quality it brings, the powderiness but here it all (the pumpkin, the ginger, the florals that sink into the background) becomes a bit of a hot mess, like when you are baking a lovely cake and it has too many by themselves lovely ingredients and its so jammed up and rich its running over the edge of the mould. Big sillage and staying power, definitely not a safe blind purchase. I found a better home for mine.

I had a sample of this when it first came out, around 10 years ago and loved it. I received another sample of it recently, and I don't know if it's the formula or my skin chemistry, but it wasn't quite the same. It started off sweet and papery, almost dusty. As it absorbed into my skin, the herbal and pumpkin notes came out, and I loved them just as before. This time though, there was a bit of something that smelled for all the world like a fresh diaper (fresh as in never used, not fresh as in freshly shat in.) It's not unpleasant, but also not what I want to smell like. Maybe it only likes young skin?!

Jess82

I purchased this because I recently got Givenchy Immortelle Tribal and really loved the immortelle note. This is nothing like Immortelle Tribal. Immortelle Tribal is very sweet buttery and pancake syrupy. Upon first spraying Like This, I smell late 1980s or early 90s coppertone sunscreen. It's nice, though. Then I get a very vegetal scent, like roasted carrots drizzled with honey and herbs. Interesting, but thankfully that is brief and then it morphs into the honey like scent of immortelle flower, with ginger, light spices and still some of the sunscreen note. I think it's the neroli that reminds me of sunscreen. Sometimes it almost has a sweet balsamic note. I really do like it. it is such a lovely and unique scent.

Edit-2/26 My husband just gifted me a full bottle. Good, because I became hooked have gone thru 2 samples already. LOVE THIS. Lasts about 6 hours, low sillage for the last 3. It is better in temps in the 60s and 70s for me.❤
Also good for temps in the low 80's

NDStars

First blast of dusty white floral and soft tangerine. Dries to a sweet musky heliotrope. Lovely and softly pleasant scent, inoffensive; not getting any of the ginger or pumpkin notes just yet. Projection is close to the skin. Decidedly feminine and great for warm weather.

6+ hours later: Mostly gone about the 4th hour in and completely gone by the 6th.

ILikePeeps

I can't really explain what it is I'm smelling, lol. It's not bad though. It's like a semi-fruity, semi-balmy, semi-spicy concoction.

smellysmello

Like This is a bit of autumn in a bottle. I don't consider it to be orange-y, but there is a citrus element that cuts the density of what smells to me like melting brown sugar. The opening is reminiscent of pumpkin and ginger - but fresh, like raw pumpkin and grated ginger root. Then Like This quickly develops into a warm, caramel scent that is a bit dry and infused with Immortelle throughout. It's a distinctive scent that is still accessible and versatile. I get moderate projection and longevity. Like This goes great with big woolly sweaters and is a comforting weirdo of a scent.

Kim Kirk

I picked up floral and citrus scent upon first spray. It died down to a soft floral, I like it but it won't be my forever fragrance.. On to the next sample!!

QueenieIrenie

Based on the pumpkin and ginger notes, I was expecting to smell warm pumpkin spice. Instead, it's more of a raw pumpkin. And while ginger gives warmth, it is also fresh and not overpowering. I also get a lot of neroli as well, which would make this great for late summer/early fall when it is still warm (at least here in SoCal). Projection is on the weaker side, but according to the brand's description, it is supposed to sit close to the skin, and it does exactly that. On my wrist, I get stronger neroli and rose notes, but I also sprayed inside my shirt where I suppose the fragrance "incubated" more and I can pick up more of the pumpkin and ginger. Overall, it's a lovely, comforting scent. It is also unique without venturing into "weird," making this still very wearable. Lately, I've gravitated towards scents that are less generic and mainstream because I don't want to smell like everyone else, so I've been exploring more niche fragrances that are different without being weird or off-putting, so this one resonated with me. This one is one of my favorites from the "almost" complete collection of samples I received. I'm okay with the weaker projection, but I sprayed it on my skin about 2 hours ago and it has faded significantly. I am still considering buying a full bottle though because I love the scent and think it would perform better in warmer weather.

dogmeat

I thought that the pumpkin/ginger combo was going to make this a gourmand-y, baked goods, cozy-type scent. While it may be a little cozy and spicy, Like This is definitely more pumpkin patch than pumpkin pie. This one is pretty unique. I've never smelled anything like this before. The pumpkin is most certainly present, but I get hay, hay, and more hay. So, on my skin, immortelle is the dominant note. It dries down to a powdery musk with a big harvest fest vibe.

Like This is dry and slightly sweet...sometimes herbal, sometimes cosmetic-y, simple but with a lot going on. This is a nice, fall-weather scent...perfect to wear out in the woods celebrating the autumnal equinox.

lukataskas

A beautiful floral scent for autumn. The first blast is a warm pumpkin with ginger, which lasts around 15min on me. I get some other spices as well, but can't name then. However, don't let this initial gingery blast fool you - florals take over quickly. It's still warm and I get whiffs of ginger passing by, but it is a floral scent nevertheless. Definitely not what I would expect from Tilda Swinton, I thought it would be more harsh and unisex, but it's soft, warm, and feminine to my nose. I very rarely like florals, but this one I could wear. Try it if you're more into orientals and so but want something different for a change.

severelain

A surprisingly feminine offering from a famously androgynous actor. And yet... there is a unisex aspect to this. Its Immortelle floral component holds the other notes in its palm. I find it quite unique and it reminds me of the flowers my wife brought down the isle on our wedding day.

Golfgal426

I bought this perfume after watching a review of it on LuckyScent's YouTube channel. I love the name (it's inspired by Rumi's "Like This).

This is one of the only fragrances I'm aware of that actually contains pumpkin as a note, So naturally I felt fall was the perfect time to buy it.

When I first smelled it, I was concerned. It felt aggressively herbal, something I'm not a huge fan of. However, within minutes it starts to dry down to this pretty, creamy, warm, and comforting fragrance. I oftentimes catch myself smelling something really pretty and then realizing it's me. The longevity is pretty good, although I wish it was a little bit better.

The ginger and the pumpkin are really pretty unique and are really doing it for me. Give this one a try. It's not that expensive, and it's really a great fragrance.

Intriguing. That’s the best word I can think of to define this ELDO masterpiece. It truely captures the art of scent. Wearable? Absolutely. But I would caution it’s elevation to unisex. It’s definitely feminine leaning. But wearable by men if you’re comfortable being outside the usual norms. Which if you’re looking up ELDO fragrances is pretty much guaranteed. I love the floral Vetiver combination in this scent, but the pumpkin is just remarkable. Subtle, but very much there. I love the work ELDO do. True art and with no pretentiousness. Accessible and challenging all at once. Etat Libre d’Orange, you should be very proud of yourselves when it comes to Like This. Bravo

I also got interested when Manny, a YouTube fragrance guy was recommending this as his favorite from the house.
Pumpkin note sounded unique and good.
My first impression was, wow. It wasn't a lot of pumpkin, but it was there, and very nice, along with an earthy soft immortelle note. The poetic description here on fragrantica, is well written, and appropriate.

It's sheer and soft, with definitely some aroma chemicals blended really well. They add brightness.

I was allmost ready to pull the trigger on a bottle. Not knowing it was marketed for woman, it started to lean feminine after some minutes. The type of aldehydes along with the heliotrope (more like Iris), gives it a definite feminine lean, but not too much. I can see it being somewhat gender neutral.

So I will pass for that reason of it being too feminine for me.
But I highly recommend this fragrance mostly to women. I respected it a lot, and give it high marks.

It smells like a Diptyque fragrance from their new exclusive collection: Essenses Tiara.

The immortal flower is one of my favourite perfume notes, and ELDO knows how to handle it. In 'Like This,' this note is very similar to the one in 'The Afternoon of a Faun.' However, these perfumes evoke different impressions and sensations. For me, 'The Afternoon of a Faun' smells like the deep forest in the Indian summer. On the other hand, 'Like this' smells like a summer garden someplace in the Meditteranean. On my skin, 'Like This' starts with a vivid, lush citrus note. It's like a bergamot peel, supported by a fresh ginger note. I can smell the citrus + ginger combo for half an hour, and after that, the immortal flower takes the stage, mixing with the ginger note and carrot seed (or pumpkin) note. After two hours, the fragrance metamorphoses again. Heliotrope, rose, and neroli start to dance alongside the immortal flower, and the aroma gets sweeter. The rich heliotrope note adds a luxurious feel to the fragrance. In this phase, the scent is quite feminine. The flower combo lasts the longest on my skin. The last notes that remain on my skin, after 10 hours of wear, are immortal flowers, backed by musk and vetiver. This fragrance is pleasant, joyful, unique, and delightful. I find it long-lasting, and it projects well.

cocofluff

Lovely, cozy blend of pumpkin, immortelle, and ginger on a fluffy almondy base. Simply beautiful. I recommend this one if you're after a cozy, warm fragrance.

It's actually a bit too cozy for me. I enjoy more zingy and refreshing perfumes right now.

This is a well executed concept nonetheless. It's beautiful. -

Pumpkin heaven in grandma's kitchen. That's the impression I got from many reviews and what I looked forward to because I don't have any pumpkin in my collection.

I think those who are smelling the full delicious array of notes must be wearing juice from the bottle with the orange label in an orange box as shown above. My 1oz bottle has a white label and came in a white box. There's a significant price difference between them and I chose the less expensive one. Big mistake.

Right after application I did sniff the promised pumpkin but it was more like dry pumpkin spice mix, and there was indeed a hint of fresh, raw carrot. But, oh my goodness, the overall fragrance was very faint and quite short-lived, disappearing totally within 30 minutes. I was sent a replacement bottle with a different batch code but it proved identically disappointing.

I really wanted to smell the wonderful array of delicious notes and I truly regret not purchasing the bottle with the orange label.

Emorandeira

I think that this is a gorgeous scent. The mix of carrot (which is not listed here but It appears in the ELDO flyer that i have recived at home with a samples purchase), pumpkin and heliotropo makes me think of the smell of a very powdery iris so this perfumes remember me to typical iría perfumes like dama koupa by baruti. It is a bit similar also to Dior homme but softer and a bit more femenine.
The problem that i find in this perfume is the performance. The longevity is moderated, about 5-6 hours on my skin, but the sillage is very soft. If It would have a better performance i would probably buy It :). I find the perfume unisex but i think It would be found better for women than for men. As It is very soft i think is better for daytime but not under too warm weather.

A certain youtube fragrance guy got me interested in this, so I thought I'd give it a try despite it being marketed towards women. It's nice but overwhelmingly floral - I expected more pumpkin and ginger to offset the immortelle and heliotrope. I could only see a mature (even elderly) woman pulling this off I'm afraid, and I don't love it enough to wear just for myself.
It does conjure a somewhat nostalgic feeling for me though, as it reminds me of my granny's house - maybe she used to wear something similar?
It does feel harsh to give this a negative review as it is not meant for a young guy at all.

Unwearable (for me), other wise Like, but not bottle worthy.

(dislike/unwearable/indifferent/like, but not bottle worthy/like, potentially bottle worthy/love, definitely bottle worthy/masterpiece)
