MG Masterson, read it again. Safety high and safety low are different from crime high and crime low.

Beware of Police…absolutely corrupt, dangerous and real scary….totally linked to crime cartels…Guadalajara is a ‘no go’ area….lived there 6 months…from U.K. Either don’t go to Mexico, or leave as soon as possible while you’re still able to…

I grew up in this city, and I can tell that crime is consuming this beautiful metropolis. People from Guadalajara used to be known for their kindness, hospitality and warmth. But it's not like that anymore. I now live in one of the safest cities in the U.S. and I can tell what a safe city is. I enjoy late night walks, but every time I'm in Guadalajara, I'm usually home by 7-8 pm. Also, don't be in downtown nor the ghetto neighborhoods alone or really late because you might get mugged or even killed.

I got mugged of my phone in a very good area around the corner from the hotel velvety plaza. In a twist I just searched and it was the corner of av de la Paz (peace!) and Calle franscisco Javier gamboa. I made eye contact with the dude a minute before as I searched for a non existent restaurant. Holding my iPhone 10 uo testing on a traffic island. Stupid

I was mugged at knife-point on Av Miguel near Av Chapultepec on Nov 24 at around 10 pm. The street wasn't busy at the time, and a car drove up, someone got out, and then grabbed my phone from my pant's front pockets. They didn't check my back pocket for wallets though. All this to say: yeah, walking at night alone is a bad idea.

The country’s second-largest city has a level of safety that you don’t get in Mexico City while still offering the big city life that you may crave.
