La Panthere by Cartier is a Chypre Floral fragrance for women. La Panthere was launched in 2014. The nose behind this fragrance is Mathilde Laurent. Top notes are Dried Fruits, Rhubarb, Big Strawberry, Anise and Bergamot; middle notes are Gardenia, Rose, Ylang-Ylang, Pear and Orange Blossom; base notes are Oakmoss, Musk, Patchouli and Leather.

La Panthère is the new fragrance for women from Cartier, launching in March of 2014. It draws inspiration from the heritage of the house: panther as a symbol of the brand and Panthère perfume from 1986. La Panthère was also the nickname of Cartier’s lover and muse Jeanne Toussaint. The new perfume is a symbol of freedom for 2014; it represents a woman who is independent, graceful and rebellious.

The fragrance is sensual and bold floral - chypre. It is created by perfumer Mathilde Laurent from central notes of gardenia and animalistic musk. The top of the composition exudes greenish - fruity mixture in the form of molecule styrallyl acetates, containing nuances of rhubarb, strawberries, dried fruit, apple and apricot. The heart is dominated by gardenia, selected as the main flower to avoid excessive oriental character and also as not so common ingredient amongst modern perfumes. Ketone musk and oak moss provide irrefutable chypre character.

The simple luxurious bottle of golden colors shows stylized face of panther, which gives the entire design a special signature and character. The face of the campaign is a model Erin Wasson, known for his cat-like facial features and boho style. The fragrance is available as 30, 50 and 75 ml Eau de Parfum.

Impactful groundbreaking scent with quite a noticeable patchouli (which I love) Smells strong, elegant and long lasting.

asimpleperfumelover

This is so well blended and has an aristocratic air about it, too bad that on my skin the musk turns so dusty I'd swear there are aldehydes in it. Nice elegant scent but I'll stick to my Rumeur.

Saveria

Pleasantly surprised by this Panthère. It is different from the others.

At first spray, I found a "vintage but not too much" effect, quite pleasant, just enough to give it a chic effect.

To my nose, it's the gardenia which wins the competition, accompanied by a lovely fruity smell (mainly strawberry). The rose is there too, but a little less strong than its friend. The whole thing is not too sweet at all, it is perfectly balanced. It's lovely and above all very elegant. With such a name and such a smell, my imagination runs wild and I imagine a very chic woman, very confident and completely at ease with her sensuality; a panther, absolutely.

In short, it's beautiful, it's chic, it's different from what we can usually find nowadays; I like it!

Alenmarie

El mejor almizcle de la perfumería de diseñador! Con ese toque de cuero, polvoriento que me hace acordar de maquillaje. No es para niñas, no es postrecito, es un para aquella mujer dueña de si, así me siento cuando lo uso.

This review has been long put off in a protracted attempt to convince myself to love it, sampling sporadically over years...I feel connected to big cats & was motivated to find reason to own a panther shaped bottle, but alas she is not for me. It reminds me strongly of vintage Avon perfumes whose decorative bottles I used to collect, or the vague aldehydic aura present in seemingly all magazine fragrance strips...old-fashioned despite the clean, modern visuals; a vague & unnatural "drugstore-ade". I do not sense gardenia, nor anything else in particular, though the impression is undefinably fruity, apricot perhaps, dry instead of juicy. One of those "Perfume" perfumes, like Mon Paris, almost hairspray-esque.

That said, La Panthère is not unpleasant, moreso disappointing in its incongruity with the image of a powerful black carnivorous cat — better fit for a fluffy white pet called Princess. If I were queen I'd rename this to "Le Chat Domestique" and call it a day.

Who knew a fragrance could have the perfect blend of both fruitiness and boldness?

This is mature and classy, yet bright and playful at the same time. Blended with elegance, the notes work together in perfect harmony. I'm getting some oriental vibes, but definitely has an emphasis on those yummy fruit notes. Definitely a great addition to my collection!

HUGE AND BEAUTIFUL! This was a blind buy as I was floundering around after so many of my favourite perfumes had been culled and I just happened read a review of this in The Times. The reviewer was Sarah Vine, former wife of the politician Michael Gove. Anyway, in her review she said it was one of the only perfumes that London Taxi drivers commented on (all positive of course, all along the lines of "you smell gorgeous sweetheart"). I don't know why but I decided there and then to buy it. Maybe I was thinking if you can evoke a friendly word from a cab driver in London you can do anything. I always got compliments whenever I wore it. It's floral but not sickly, it somehow has a sharpness to it but not in a Giorgio Beverly Hills way. Not at all childlike which fruity perfumes can sometimes be. It has enormous sillage and longevity. Really suited me and to this day remains on my favourite list. Maybe one day in years to come I'll give it another spin around the block. For now I have too many on my to do list...

ingrid.superstar

I used to like this, I think because I instantly recognized a sort of far-fetched resemblance to the chilly, edgy gardenia in Narciso edp (it used to show up in the “This perfume reminds me of…” section, but has clearly been downvoted out of existence), but something in me changed. La Panthere begins with a flash of round, tart, buttery floral effects that very quickly veer into the chemical territory of acetone – sharp, fruity, astringent, and stridently retro. (I suppose it’s purposeful – that ketone musk which borders the scent of acetone.) I love perfumes that are literally or referentially retro, so the scent of the past isn’t the issue, exactly – it’s the combination of that pickled strawberry sourness with a high-frequency oakmoss that is spoiling my enjoyment. It hits me like olfactory neon. I wish I could regain whatever sense of delicacy this originally had for me; I’d happily try the flankers still to see what else La Panthere is about.

I try hard to ignore marketing to the extent that this is even possible for a modern person, – it gets in the way of olfactory impressions! – BUT I am only human, and I admit I would have been thrilled if something about this fragrance had smelled conceptually more feline: more musky, animalic, leathery, or lived-in.

I take no pleasure in writing negative reviews; I post them only if I feel there is some other useful insight therein. Despite the subjective nature of conveying sensory impressions, I tend to find emotional outbursts of a positive or negative nature on this site completely un-useful if they are not grounded in any descriptive analysis against which I could measure my own impressions. Personally, I would not downvote a review just because this person smells nutmeg and I smell dryer sheets. Even if I think someone is dead wrong according to my own impressions, even their distance from my own experience helps me in some small way to confirm the verity of my own. I think all carefully thought-out reviews that are striving towards discovering the truth about a scent or about oneself deserve representation on this site. But “loved it” or “hated it” are equally frivolous and useless. Tell me why you feel that way, and I will listen!

So all of this is to say that I don’t disagree with the democratic nature of upvoting or downvoting reviews per se – but it’s worth pointing out that we are probably all voting for different reasons — not just due to different sensory qualia — and many are using agreement/disagreement with their own literal sense impression as the measure. I, however, use my judgment of the care and analysis that person took in forming their impression. I love perfume, but I’m here for the insights. B)

ljsmith

Surprisingly modern fruity chypre. I feel like it’s rare to find a scent that is this fruity while also being mature and serious. I wonder if it is because of the dried fruits that it is sweet and fruity but doesn’t feel frivolous or juvenile? Great for the office, very grown up and professional but not fussy or matronly.

Miss boudoir

They changed the box...it's white instead of gold... Can someone who wears this perfume tell me if they have reformulated it? Cheers and happy New Year 🎊

wealthiacupbearer

I tried a sample today and was struck by how familiar it seemed. After living with it for several hours, I remembered why. It strongly reminded me of 1970s Avon fragrances. No thank you! I thought Cartier would have reached for higher than that.

kallico

Modern and classic. It stayed on my sweater for days.

Strelka

I love the smell but not for me to wear. A totally classy Cartier scent. Smells sophisticated and elegant. Also a little bit retro imo but that's the essence of Cartier.

9112Basbous

get this if you want to smell classy & unique...totally feminine without being sweet

rose4franc

This smells straight up like rhubarb. Funny that a luxury brand considered rhubarb as an expensive top note. It's older, I know, but there is no way to detect any flower in this whatsoever. Maybe strawberry follows in the dry down. Musky, fermented scent can be overpowering. Definitely unisex. Has a POW to it that kinda wreaks in a bad way. Too much going on.

RuthBeton

In case you want an unbiased - real time review - brought out my strictly autumn/winter scents last night. Sprayed small, light whiffs of several on different parts of my two hands, arms to remind me of how much I missed each one. I cleaned the kitchen, washed dishes without gloves, prepared for bed, including washing my face and brushing my teeth.

It is now 12.02 PM the next day in the afternoon and, when I put the back of my left hand up to my nose, I can still clearly smell Cartier la Pathere. Only one other fragrance faintly remained and it was on my upper arm.

Someone reviewed directing us to "only spray once - it will stay forever on your scarves." It is true! If you spray it on and can not smell it shortly, well, I can guarantee everyone else can. Not everyone will like the actually scent - I do - but, in my opinion, it is not a blind buy. I think it is fabulous! For some reason I am not concerned about it smelling old lady - it has some of those vibes but manages to be graciously fresh and not stuffy.

spaceybailey

It's a panther, running WILD.. Full speed at midnight, through fields of roses, orange blossoms and gardenias. It suddenly slows down.. To bathe in a lake of milk, cinnamon, marshmallows, glazed pears & strawberries. With a full moon shining brighter than ever. Focusing on nothing else but you. It's ethereal. Nothing else matters. JUST YOU. You have the spotlight, you are the center of attention. You are LA PANTHERE.

The dry down is a creamy, what once was, a MAJESTIC wild run. This perfume is, a PANTHER. Not for the frail and typical. Nor for the faint of heart. It's a beautiful BEAST… A boost of confidence. Then again, it may just define you. Very feminine in my opinion. It's enigmatic, desirable, luxurious & powerful. Lasts all day til midnight and longer. During the day you smell more of those sweet fruit notes and gardenia. Best if worn at night. TRUST ME. You actually experience that midnight run. I love it by itself but also enjoy layering it with a sweeter perfume. Amazing during cold weather. Highly recommend to be worn at night.

P.S. No, you won't turn into a Panther. BISOUS

Showard3

I’m confused by this one y’all. Judging by the notes I thought I’d love this, but all I smell is nail polish remover and paint mixed with that smell like I’ve been outside. I smell none of the notes listed except maybe rhubarb, it’s really sharp. I feel like I’m missing something, advice on how to make this frag work is welcome :)

Edit:
I went to the store and tried the tester, smells like the one I have at home, so it’s not my bottle. I smelled this on a woman sitting behind me at a restaurant days later, projection is great but unfortunately it was unpleasant on her too :(

Sillykn

Dark sweet but not to heavy. Just a really well done complex perfume. Don't know if i'll ever buy a full sized bottle but happily working my way through an 8ml decant.

mshimoz

All reviews are saying this is a BEAST, and that it's bold etc.. Sooooo I went and ordered it, and I used like 30 ml of the bottle, AND I DON'T SEE ANYTHING FROM THE ABOVE! DID I BUY A FAKE ONE OR WHAT! THAT CAN'T BE THE SAME PERFUME YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT GUYS! I'M LOSING MY MIND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Vyxn

On my skin, a very linear gardenia with a touch of fruitiness. I didn't mind it- I wouldn't buy a bottle, but I found it inoffensive and feminine- but my mother said it was a horribly synthetic floral to her nose.

angiemats133

Not for me but if you are a bold strong woman with big attitude and you want to stand out even if somebody finds you too much, girl that's you

gemeljoseph

Gives me rich bitch, old OLD money vibes. Like I BEEN had money in the family for generationsssss vibes. First Lady of the United States but I can hold my own next to my husband vibes. This is what I imagine Michelle Obama to smell like, lol. First got this as a free sample but then I had to purchase. Can’t wait to wear to work this fall with my best fitting business suit!

Update now that it’s fall and I’ve worn this: previous comments still stand but I wanted to add that the longevity is superb! Lasts my full work day and into the evening. It is a very mature but beautiful scent. I’m a 30 year old woman and I like it. However, if you are more into younger, bubblegummy or fresher scents I’d suggest sampling before buying.

Julie Davis

To me this is sparkling gorgeousness !!

Spicy

This is exactly how I imagine pantheres and their fur smell like. Also, I have both The Panthere and Diane and there's only a very tiny similarity, more like same group perfumes.

Kotikina

Strawberries, champagne-like soft chypre, gardenia, and bit of animalic musk. Not as animalic as the Soir version (a bit too much for my liking). Yes, it is on a mature side, so if you are one of those people to whom everything that doesn't smell like fruity mess is 'grandmother's perfume', it is definitely not for you.

This is very chic and elegant. I would say it suits many ocassions, it doesn't really give me 'boss lady' vibes, it is too relaxed for this. It is a French madame enjoying a glass of champagne and eating strawberries, she is wearing something very elegant and put together, and she couldn't care less about office and work in general, at least at the moment. You don't want to mess up with her, because soft kitten (strawberry) can change into, well, a panther (chypre, leather and those animalistic notes)

I believe this could be worn during the day and as a special occasion fragrance, yet if I was to choose just one season for it, I would say summer ( but not too hot), it shines when it is warm and maybe a bit windy outside.

Rozalina

“Boss lady,” “safe for the office,” “icy rich bitch” …..I dunno guys, I just find this perfume to be YUMMY 😋 perfect for those of us who have tired of the straightforward gourmand and sweet perfumes but still want something delectable. La Panthere is a fabulous modern chypre that I find relatively mass-appealing. I love a good earthy fragrance but something like Knowing by Estée Lauder is too bitter for me, for example. I typically avoid leather but here it just adds a lightly animalic oomph to the base, not obvious unless you look for it. This is well-blended, fresh, expensive-smelling (most of what I’ve tried from Mathilde Laurent has impressed me), and quite sexy. Sure, I guess we can call La Panthere an “office fragrance” but only if you’re into seducing your coworkers.

Also- the first 3-4 times I tried my sample it smelled like nail polish remover and I was very, very confused. I set it aside for a few months and now it smells beautiful. Just a reminder to give all fragrances a chance to settle into their true forms, even your samples!

Farangismua

The mixture is too much, but sometimes too much is what some people like. Smells rich though for sure.

MadameMerola

What’s not to love about this perfume? I have this one with the gold top. It is of the most interesting scent I have encountered. When I spray this, I am hit with a blend of different notes simultaneously. I get some fruity notes, I also get some earthy, woody notes. I get some sweetness that reminds me of amber and praline.

I got this as a birthday gift for myself and it arrived this morning. It’s early days but from a blind buy based on what I read from this platform, I am extremely happy I trusted my gut and went for this. I am grinning with joy that I got this at a highly discounted price. Two hours plus already of wearing it and it is dominating Amouage Journey for women on my other wrist big time.

If you think Cartier perfumes are outdated and for old ladies, you are wrong. I am 45 and this is the kind of perfume I would wear to my speaking engagements because I know it will make a remarkable impression. Most times I have to layer my perfumes to give them more depth and mystique. With this scent, I don’t need to bother because no one will ever guess correctly what I am wearing and that is just fantastic to me.

If you like smelling unique, flamboyant, powerful and wealthy, get this perfume. I know it might not work on everyone else’s skin as beautifully as it is performing on mine, but I pray it does for you.

croissant_pari

La Panthère by Cartier is magic in a bottle. Effortlessly feminine, classy, chic and dare I say womanly. Never knew I needed it, rejecting the majority of ''girly'' perfumes I had the chance to experience. Despite the note breakdown, which is intriguingly interesting with the strawberry, ylang-ylang, oakmoss and leather, my humble nose hadn't seen the note list would have guessed ''Floral fragrance... Definitely peonies and roses... Yes, white flowers as well, a bit musky'', and move on to try something else and while contemplating if I like it enough or not it had put a spell on me. This perfume is wittily crafted. Magnetic. The secret is in the air, the sillage is magically soft, alluring, mesmerizing, ethereal; I even surprise myself when I wear it and suddenly noticing it radiating off of me. ''Is this me? Wait... What?''

sandybony15

Tastes are personal. But gosh, I just do not understand the success of this fragrance!!!!. I blind bought it and it has been sitting here unused in my cupboard for almost a year. Impossible to resell it as here in France, second hand bottles of that fragrance are flooding the market.

Why the need for a modern Chypre when there are some amazing Chypre fragrances that are timeless (eg Guerlain iconic range)?

Two people summarized perfectly what I think about this perfume : "screechy floral" / Dynasty (think big hair and shoulder pads).

I usually love Cartier creations and I think they are very often underrated. But this one is definitely not for me

zind

Whoa, the life of this! Panthere is a persistent motherf....!

I won't comment much about the scent, because it's lovely but in the end it's not my cup of tea. I have to say though, that I am amazed by how it sticks and holds on for dear life. I applied 3 sprays for testing last evening after a shower and at work -over 14 hours later- I kept getting whiffs of it. I smelled it more than the perfume I applied this morning. And 24 hours after applying I now smell it on the bathrobe I wore last night. Talk about great performance!!

fvnaticbychoice

got a set of samples and everyone I’ve come into contact with today complimented me! def on the hunt for an affordable, full sized bottle.

MonicaCloud

The leather and moss give it a fierce edge that the powdery gardenia rounds out so gently. The anise and ylang-ylang give it a serious character that the green strawberry note balances out. A concoction of polar opposites that merge smoothly into something unique and breathtaking.

cats_eye

This reminds me of expensive French milled soap plus oakmoss, sandalwood and patchouli. It's not stuffy but sort of friendly. I smell no fruitiness.

Victoria121

Omg!!!!! i love how you described this perfume @minasou.
Now, i want to get it cos you did justice to painting a picture of the scent. I hope i come across your comments on other perfumes im looking to get xx

Cadera97

As a big chypre enthusiast, this is the fluffiest and most elegant chypre I own. I agree with those who say this fits formal events. I'll be saving this one for those very special occasions. It doesn't remind me of Natura's Essencial Elixir at the least. Elixir is very fruity and sweet, as most Brazilian fragrances are, and the patchouli was toned down to nothing.

LanaDelSlay

It says fruity but honestly it's just the strawberry then the rest is very mature, has a Eau du soir Sisley vibe. If you've smelled it then u will understand how mature it smells, very dark & serious/classy

Minasou

Leather. Smoke. Oakmoss. But make it feminine.

This belongs on a woman in her 40s or 50s. An earthy, dark green blouse. She owns some jeans and brown boots but prefers wearing leather pants. Wears a calf-length leather skirt, to the office. Hell, she owns the office. If she's not giving you a quick, mustering glance in the elevator, she ignores you by staring straight ahead. Files held before her chest like a weapon. In her mind, she's already driving her motorcycle on the weekend, and taking her dog for a walk after work. She likes to let him off the leash in the forest - he's well-trained. You wonder: how does her hair get so big? She must be teasing it a little. Maybe a blow-dryer brush. She steps out of the elevator, struts down the corridor, past the glass door... and here she is in her territory, commanding the room without effort, demanding silent obedience. You wonder about her lives and her loves, but at the end of the day, you like working for her, because if there's one thing she's not - it's a fake.

Sbl

This is my go to scent when I feel like I need to take on the world. Powerful and aggressive, yet clearly feminine and delicate. I don't even know how to describe it, as it doesn't smell like anything else. I receive a lot of compliments, solely from women, who want to know what I am wearing.
Out of the bottle, the scent is overpowering and is reminiscent of being stuck in an elevator with an old lady during the 80s, but a few moments later, the florals and moss develop. I don't get one iota of the fruity on my skin, which I personally find great. It is an elegant scent, refined and highly feminine with a touch of a dangerous undertone. Love it! Has been a staple since it was first launched.

Awater01

I thought I would try something new for my birthday and I'm a little disappointed in this blind buy. Cartier fragrances are fairly rare were I'm from so I was hoping for something special but this just smells like Narciso (white cube) to me. In fact, I have Narciso on one wrist and Le Panthere on the other and Narciso is stronger and nicer in my opinion. I don't get any of the fruity notes listed at all, just a nice woody musk. Ironically, Narciso is slightly more fruity to me and it doesn't even have fruit notes listed. I would love to find, strawberry, rhubarb and dried fruits here, but I just get musk, which I feel was done better by Narciso.

Ambrenuit

A noble fragrance for a queen. It has something retro and something modern in it. This is what a real lady smells like, elegant, confident. Somebody described it perfectly: It reminds me of the elegance of the 90s, when women didn't have duck lips and plastic hips. This is perfume for a lady sitting with a glass of vintage wine on a dark green velvet couch by the fireplace in the hall of the castle she inherited.

rainydays

I thought this would be much louder from prior descriptions. This is a musk-dominant, mildly sweet, mildly spicy floral chypre. I'll add to the chorus that this is reminiscent of decades past, but it still holds up today. The oakmoss is grounding, a bit earthy, and keeps it from becoming too sweet. I can see this being worn by a professional, confident individual who doesn't want anything TOO heady.

Sanrio

Very iiinteresting.

The opening gives a bit of a carrot vibe which I usually get with orris/iris, so that's unique. The dried fruit is unsweetened and mostly apricot/peach. Unfortunately, in a couple hours the dry down comes along and starts melding into this peculiar desitin ointment type scent mixed with the oak moss. It's odd but not really unpleasant.

Overall this is less overtly white floral than I expected, but still a very unique but wearable modern designer perfume.

Madyana

Pantheres, this also, has that sexy dirty musk, which may be a horror for those who prefer contemporary fragrances. However, this Panther is still very young, a cat beast that has only brought down its first prey. But for the nails, anyway...

Dlittlegarden

Successful blind buy from Marshall's! I absolutely love this scent. It is everything I've been hoping to find in niche and 90s vintage perfumes, but not quite found. It's a modern chypre, long lasting, elegant, unusual, and feminine. Opened the box and sprayed last night before bed, and woke up several times to it's lovely, soothing presence. This one contains multitudes - both creamy but also dry; skin scent but also projects.

PeacefulSunshine

Wow. This is a complex perfume! I can somehow make out discrete notes yet it still all feels perfectly blended into one overall scent.

This feels calming and natural to me. I'm not good at detecting specific accords but something about this resonates deeply within my soul that all my stresses fall off my shoulders.

There is just a tad bit too much sweetness in the beginning for me, but a lot of the sweet top notes dissipate quickly and becomes creamier and more earthy. I have never smelled the Narciso Rodriguez white cube that a few people have mentioned this smells like. But I have smelled NR For Her in both EDT and EDP and I can totally see the similarities, especially with the EDP which I prefer because it's softer like this.

A friendly wood elf would wear this in my mind. (I know many people have written about how they see a boss lady wearing this, but I don't see that at all. Maybe we all interpret this as a powerful, inspirational being wearing La Panthère... and to me there is nothing more powerful, noble, and refined than an elf.)

This is a wonderful mix of peaceful yet strong feminine confidence in a bottle. It's just a touch too sweet still for me purchasing a full bottle, but if someone gifted this to me I would absolutely wear it. 8/10

puremugetto

Anise is strong with this one.
Stands alone with its different DNA.
I think what 90s offered with dune, it is the 2000s answer to it.

Lorela

This perfume is like a chameleon... If you wear leggings it becomes a gym perfume, if you wear a coat it becomes classy, if you wear a decolite it becomes a sensual perfume. You have to try it to prove its magic. it's gorgeous for dry skin especially. It's airy and bold at the same time. When I smell it I imagine a WOMAN in her thirties with beautiful long hair and the nicest breast...with great posture and slow talking with a clear voice. I love this perfume !!!

Eugenia Olesen

Gorgeous perfume, beautiful fruity chypre. Fans of the chypre niche will surely appreciate... The most beautiful perfume, high-status, expensive-sounding, it makes you want to keep your posture straight and look down on the world. One of my favorites

2lipsinHolland

Add me to the list of adoring fans here. Sophisticated, sexy, warm, a bit soapy. This is a modern masterpiece.

lyra.meurer

La Panthère: such a delight that I hoarded my sample for as long as possible, buried my face in the clothes with any lingering waft of the stuff. Smells like a 70s or 80s chypre, but fresh and modernized at the same time. I am struggling to capture it with words, but I'll do my best.

First comes the rich, fruity top, which I think accounts a lot for how old school La Panthère feels: the "dried fruit" note is heady and full, playing alongside what read as apricot to me. Nothing like the astringent, biting tropical fruit notes one so readily finds in the perfumes of the last few decades. Creamy, sweet gardenia balances the dried fruit top from the start, and remains as the fruit notes gradually fade (it takes a while!), giving way to a prominently powdery and musky base. La Panthère is an appropriate name, capturing the grace and power at play here: a sort of slinky, sultry captivation.

I bet if I had a full bottle of this, I could become a real menace with it. But, as it is, carefully rationing my sample, I was able to get a moderate sillage from it for up to 6 hours at a time. I marked it as being suitable for fall but I could see it transitioning well into spring, what with that decadent gardenia.

Fenissa

This is a beautiful, contemporary floral Chypre well deserving of its masterpiece status.
It does not smell dated or old like some Chypre's can lean towards.

When I first blind bought this a couple of years ago, I got it merely for the dried fruits. I was expecting something dense and rich, somewhat edible and lush, but it is none of those things. I was taken aback by that, but I was not disappointed. Sure it didn't smell how I expected it to smell, but it was a pleasant surprise nonetheless.

The opening is sharp and very 'perfumey', but in an expensive perfume way which is very classy.
The real beauty however, is in the dry down. Creamy magnolia which is a little bit soapy but is tempered by the depth of its oakmoss and patchouli notes.
Definitely a 'journey' perfume rather than something that stays the same for an entire wear. La Panthere morphs over the hours, depending on time of day, season or weather.
Longevity is great, I get well over 8 hours out of two sprays. Silage is moderate.
Contrary to it being marketed as feminine, I believe a man could easily wear this scent.

JamieSmells

I had a bottle of this perfume years ago and haven’t bothered getting a new one. That however does not mean it’s because I didn’t enjoy it, quite the contrary. I agree it’s a fancy powdery scent, kind of reminds me of Narcisso Rodríguez Poudree.

Abbytabbies

On a test card, this perfume is a gardenia bomb from spray to dry down, but on my skin the patchouli really opens up. This is great for about 20 minutes but after that point it falls flat. I was able to fix this by adding a bit of Tom Ford Rose Prick on top of the Cartier, the sweet-yet-spicy rose is really what this perfume needs, but if TFRP was otherwise unavailable, I think La Panthère would still have value as a basic daily perfume, but it’s not nearly sexy enough for special occasions in my opinion.

xenanora

Wow!
Are we smelling the same perfume? Those bad reviews caught me off guard.
Nevertheless, I'm here to tell you that this is brilliant, breath-taking. Panthere has tartness which I adore while most people find it weird or disgusting. Do not let other reviews mislead you, if you love sweet chypres you are in the right place.
To me Panthere is young, juicy, voluptous and remarkable.
I have 2015 and 2022 versions, both are amazing. Panthere is still worth buying and I am wearing it today.
To me this is not animalic, even gardenia is not carrying animalic sides.
Symphony of notes, this is my youthful, energizing chypre!

JoyDivision

Somewhere in Adjaria I followed a girl inside a cave just to ask her what she was wearing. Needless to say, the whole cave smelled like Panthere instead of mold and rocks. I came out of the cave victoriously shouting: It's Cartier! At the duty-free I bought it and wore it on the plane. Unfortunately, I understood what a big mistake I had made because people next to me were coughing and one even went as far as asking the annoyed flight assistant to tell me to go and wash it off.
It's an old type perfume, extremely strong and animalic. It reminds me of Montana's perfumes in the 80's and it's silage is huge while the longevity is eternal. It wears you and not the other way round. I guess I could see Morticia Adams wearing something like that. I gave it to my mother who was deligted to wear it all year round.

whiskywisteria

Sprayed about 8 hours ago.. At times it reminded me strongly of Granny, or an old school 'whisky' scent and at best it had Chanel no 5 vibes.. It totally wore me and not other way around.. I'll go for round 2 soon to see if I can find traces of this masterpiece I've read so much about.. .

chapoopee

This went so stanky on me. None of the fruits, no flowers, just immediately nasty. My guess is something to do with that animalic accord but I couldn't keep it on long enough to say for sure. Headache inducing and lasted through multiple scrubs- ended up spraying Idole over it so I could recover a bit.

SSBurn

Smells like someones breath and mothballs. Think your aunts old clothes in her closet that still have a hint of generic perfume on them.

Feadedía

This is a fragrance that smells expensive and cheap at the same time. I imagine a corporate sales executive with shark instincts, an insatiable desire to be admired, and a predictable love for luxury brands - no discernible traces of taste and class can be detected - just like this unfortunate scent.

Prettyinpink4319

I tried a sample of this perfume - at first, it felt a bit overpowering, and even within 30 minutes I felt self conscious about the strong gardenia - it gave a bit of an older lady vibe. After the dry down, I loved it. I may reserve this perfume for my 40s!

Heliga

My very first impression of this fragrance still stands going on a year later:
I'm so surprised that I really liked this, I thought it would have to grow on me. The first minute it smells a lot like the musc in Narciso Rodriguez for her edt and maybe a little hint of chanel no5, after that it keeps some muskiness but becomes its own thing (a hint of sweetness?). The glass of the bottle is just as beautiful as I had expected, but the sprayer feels a bit cheaper than the rest of the bottle. This really does smell like I would imagine a panther could smell like, animalic and just a little bit floral. Lasting power is okay, I get wafts of it as I move around so projection is good but without being overwhelming.

This feels really timeless. I have a backup bottle because I got it for an excellent price and with two bottles I got free shipping. I figured I would sell the second bottle but I feel like I could keep it around even if it will take me a decade to finish this bottle.

BougieGirlShops

Good fragrance for someone looking for a sweet and warm evening scent without a lot of woody-ness. Also the bottle design is what the young kids would call fire!

First whiff, it's definitely sweet. Not saccarine sweet, but still pretty sweet for fruit notes and I would say closer to candied fruits than dried fruits because there's a juiciness to it. I also get a clear scent of the pear, gardenia and rose but the woodier notes don't come in until dry down. I get a hint of tartness from the rhubarb, but no hint of spiciness from the anise or ylang ylang.

As it begins to dry down and warms to the skin, the patchouli begins to peek out and the musk adds a layer of powdery-ness to soften the fruit notes. For me, of all the florals it's definitely a gardenia-centric fragrance with just a hint of rose to add depth.

I am surprised oak moss is listed, I am not getting any of it's signature damp forrest floor smell. I find most of the woodier base notes indescernible, rather it lends a darker wamthness overall. I think I would like this a lot more if the wood notes were a bit more pronounced and a punchier oak moss. This is a modern chypres for those too young to have experienced the OG beast modes and would be turned away from the tuberose and aldehydes.

I am going to have to test drive this scent a bit more. It's definitely much sweeter than I prefer my fragrances to be, but it's not something I would dismiss altogether. For me it would be an evening out over the holidays in an intemate setting with friends over drinks in a trendy bar type of scent.

I agree with another reviewer who said it's velvety. If this scent was a fabric, it would be dark green jewel toned velvet.

I imagine Madame X, the subject of John Singer Sargent's famous painting to smell like this. It's art deco, voluptuous and provoking.

Fragaddict123

A fragrance marketed to women and rightfully so
It is definitely more suitable for the ladies
Though I don’t shy away from ladies scents
So I tried it and felt that it was ok
Going back to my memory when I tried the parfume version it was a lot better
It comes close to a chypre not completely definitely missing the labdanum
the verdict is that it’s not good enough to be added to my collection I felt it was mediocre at best

freshsniffs

Smells like sexy play-oh or being at the mall. I sort of like it...but the play doh notes..

rhaineclayton

I'm sad that I don't get any of the dried fruit, strawberry or rhubarb from this. I'm not even detecting the gardenia, ylang ylang and rose, just non-descript floral.
Instead, it jumps very quickly to the musky dry down. And by musky I mean MUSKY. I'm sure that's what's really killing this for me.
I used to have Trussardi My Name, which was lovely, until I mistakenly wore it on a hot day and it almost suffocated me. That's the same effect I'm getting from this, even on a cold night. Musk is the only common note they have. I'll probably end up selling this on (yup, it was a blind buy). Shame, because the 25ml bottle is adorable.

Lucille29

I’m surprised I adore this one so much. The notes aren’t usually what I’d gravitate towards. Moss, leather and dried fruits aren’t my usual picks. The strawberry, florals and musk drew me in. I smelt it from my friends collection and loved it. Bought the small 25ml bottle. I’ve been wearing it non stop. I crave it. It’s a fruity sexy classy scent all in one. Very unique, sweeter than I was expecting but by no means gourmand. I pick up the strawberry a fair bit. I feel it has old money vibes but the wearer is modern, put together in a natural way (like coco mad in 2022 without the patch bomb) if that makes any sense. Worth a test, even if this genre isn’t usually your thing. P.S I own the largest bottle and omg what a stunning heavy bottle! ❤️

Penhaligoons

I cant put into words the way I feel about this perfume. It's true when they say smell is probably the most powerful sense, in the way that I felt like I was thrown back in time to a place I've never been but felt so terribly nostalgic for.
This is so effortlessly classy and modern, I am not sure why we don't see these "influencers" talking about the house of Cartier. Really makes you think about how much they're getting paid to say what they do and being hush hush about it.
Cartier is a hidden gem (at least as far as I know) in the fragrance community. This one in particular is a masterclass of fine perfume making.
It is floral, yet woody and aromatic and it develops on the skin almost immediately. Sillage and staying power are both great, last up to 8 hours at least on the skin, and SUCH a compliment magnet. I can't say I won't buy at least a dozen bottles if they ever happen to discontinue this one.

strongerwithglue

It was all a lie. I hardly smell any fruit, I do smell the florals and the base notes. I do not like it.

abbieclark67

Such a delicious chypre with chameleonic behavior. I adore this material. Retro-styled modernization. Dried Fruits, Rhubarb, Big Strawberry, Anise, and Bergamot make up the scent's opening notes; Gardenia, Rose, Ylang-Ylang, Orange Blossom, and Pear make up its middle notes; and Oakmoss, Musk, Leather, and Patchouli make up its base notes. This scent is incredibly sophisticated and elegant, managing to be both contemporary and have an unmistakably classic feel about it. Despite the fruity aroma in the introduction, it is thick and deep. It almost has an oriental feel. Excellent performer and genuine compliment-getter.

stacia79

Honestly I might not be nearly sophisticated enough to pull off wearing this. It’s a modern chypre that could easily compete with old school chypres. The rhubarb, gardenia and oak moss are a thrilling combination. Smells like money. It doesn’t smell like a 21st century perfume. This is voluptuous. The velvet cushion of floral chypres.

emmayoung537

La Panthere is such a complete package in itself- it's so classy, clean and comforting. To me, this is one of the best fragrances that I chose to wear many days above others. This is actually a fruity chypre fragrance that is easy going, smells intelligent and suits really well. There is elegance yet sophistication in it that is modern with a classic touch. This fragrance has something so beautiful, deep, rich and lively in it that makes it kind of oriental and at the same time, the oakmoss and patchouli keep it grounded making it a perfect go for all ages.

jassimbakard

Nice Scent from Cartier,
I love to smell this on a woman

msamber86

Overall, this reminds me of a fancy shampoo. It’s a clean and fresh fruity floral scent that is blended well and made with good ingredients. I particularly like the rhubarb. But this one is not for me.

Zae

Just got it now, and yes... it's sensual yet delicate...

Enrium

I recently reviewed La Panthère Le Parfum, meaning to smell the original again for comparison. I had forgotten how good this is. It is a beautifully composed, fruity modern chypre, whereas Le Parfum is a more polarising scent - a simpler, stronger, 1980s-style, apricot-heavy chypre. They clearly share the same DNA, however. Some of the individual notes don't appeal to me on paper (looking at you, rhubarb, strawberry and dried fruits!), but they make for a sublime combination. The fruity notes are realistic and perfectly balanced - adding just the right amount of sweetness. There is a tartness to the opening that mellows beautifully as it develops.

LP opens with tart bergamot and rhubarb, which are shortly joined by freshly sweet strawberry and aromatic dried fruits. I'm not a fruity scent lover, but this opening is excellent and unusual - a far cry from the synthetic, syrupy fruit cocktail that seems to permeate current sweet scents. The floral notes creep in after a little while, forming a rich, sweet bouquet. The white florals are lush and sweet, while powdery rose rounds it out. The juicy, sweet pear note keeps things fruity before the drydown.

The drydown is beautiful - mossy, chypre goodness. It is one of the nicest modern chypre drydowns I have smelled, featuring a delicious, old-fashioned oakmoss note (I'm unsure of its status, being restricted, but it smells real), along with the perfect amount of earthy patchouli. It becomes animalic is it fades, mossy until the end. Sillage and longevity are both decent. It smells feminine to my nose, and is best worn during autumn/winter.

Beautiful from initial spray to final fade, this scent is distinctive yet wearable, featuring many points of interest. Cohesive yet complex, Mathilde Laurent really can do no wrong. I really enjoyed Le Parfum, but this EDP is my preference. I need a full bottle. 4.5/5.

coffeefifofum

I am not much of a fan of chypres, but if they all smelled like this I'd be an addict. The notes and accords really don't convey it on this one. You have to go to the marketing copy.

(Edited heavily but the whole thing is further up the page) "Launching in March of 2014. La Panthère was the nickname of Cartier’s lover and muse Jeanne Toussaint... freedom, independent, graceful and rebellious. The fragrance is sensual and bold. central notes of gardenia and animalistic musk avoid excessive oriental character and also as not so common ingredient amongst modern perfumes. Ketone musk and oak moss provide irrefutable chypre character. simple, luxurious"

This is sexy, inspired by a lover, animalic. Unusual and maybe not easily approachable for everyone, but also not gimmicky or off-putting. Powerful projection but in a way that's drawing others in rather than reaching out to them. "Mature"? Think panther not kitten. Good longevity.

GinCatsBooks

This is an excellent example of a modern chypre which is so easily wearable and timeless.
I've wanted La Panthere for a while, I always stole spritzes from testers in shops whenever I passed it and I always stashed blotters I'd sprized with it because I just cant get enough of the elegance it exudes.

The bottle is simply stunning; its thick, heavy glass construction feels solid and satisfying, the integrated atomiser produces an excellent mist and the many facets within the bottle make it look like a panther, as a cat lover, I REALLY love this bottle!
But, it isnt just about the bottle, its what it contains thats important and as usual, Mathilde Laurent has done an excellent job. The opening is a huge, loud burst of various fruits, except its not sweet, its rather sour and feels very "real" with rhubarb being the most noticable note in the opening, the sour snap begins to settle after about 10 minutes and a warm, lush gardenia and orange blossom combo starts to emerge. I can just about smell some ylang ylang tempering the edges of the white florals before it morphs into a sumptuous, alluring musk. I have to agree with people however that have pointed out that it reminds them of Narciso (white cube), except La Panthere is less woody and feels more rounded, I actually dare say (as a huge NR fan) its better than Narciso to my nose, its less peircing and more soft, the gardenia-musk then settles to become a soft, almost skin-musk scent on my skin.

The longevity is excellent, I'm at the 6hr mark but, La Panthere is still present and noticable, the silage is also excellent, its quite strong after initally applying but quickly softens and become more aura-like, its sexy, alluring but I also don't find it hard to wear or feel like I'm too young for it (I'm 24 for reference), I'm currently wearing it with jeans and a t-shirt and I don't feel like its too much or out of place, its like it enhances how I naturally smell; your skin but better.
It could work well in a professional setting, but I would use caution if you work in a very enclosed environment due to how polarizing and strong this is. I picture someone like Dr Suzannah Lipscombe wearing this or a really knowledgable, confident museum or art gallery curator.
Its excellent to wear smart-casually or for more formal occasions as well as for nights out. Personally, because I love how La Panthere makes me feel, I couldn't just save it for special occasions, its so damn amazing and it makes even running to the supermarket feel like a glamourous experience.
For sure repurchase worthy!

PerfumedParrot

I finally got to try this after years of wanting to and always bypassing it.
On me I get rhubarb, dried fruits and strawberries on a base of hazy moss and musk.
It’s nice, but it’s not me, as it’s very mainstream womanly and I’m more of a weirdo tomboy.

Nichole FZA

I was given a 9ml travel size bottle, it sat on my office drawer for almost 3 years and I decided to try this today, not a full wearing since I had already sprayed other perfume before leaving home this morning. I spritzed this on my hand. I regretted it right away, it smelled very synthetic that I wanted to scrub it but I was too lazy to go to office bathroom lol...

After lunch time and 5 hand washes later, my God this has turned into a gorgeous scent, I got fruity smell but not juvenile, which is amazing and now I can't stop sniffing my hand and I'm worried I'll get caught by a co-worker and people may think I'm crazy.

I'm actually considering to get a full bottle of this but still, I can't stand the opening hmm...

Singerstylistlovesscents

Love this. Similar to Chanels’ Coco EDT. Not Coco Mad please!!! Coco to me is a day gone well! Panthere has the same feeling! Confident and Savy! Anyways, feel classy and put together in this Chypre. Unisex friendly. Agree with the 80’s or 90’s vibe comments yet amongst all the fruity/patchouli fragrances out there clouding the room, you’ll smell modern and interesting! Be ready to tell inquisitors what your wearing!

Colchiques

When I’m in a confident bad bitch mood it’s perfect. It’s mature, it’s animalic, I want to be dominated by myself when I wear it 😂

Redhedgurl

You want to smell like boss bad bih money, you say? Well step right up, Panthere has you covered. I looooove this stuff. It takes a minute to develop, but that fruity gardenia, musk undertone glory emerges and I just want to strut into the boardroom and tell them that they're all fired! It's a yes for me.

iremkaraoglu

ah my dear panthere..
i love you so much that you don't know. ı've never told a scent this is my scent in my life.
How can a fragrance be noble , attractive, tame at the same time ?
its full of interesting things.

chakukan

so feminine and girly but sophisticated, love it!

I am growing tired of Cartier's shenanigans. I have a whole bunch of Cartier perfumes, there are countless many between hubby and myself, but this La Panthere crap is killing me. I wore the original Panthere way back then, I was probably only 13 when I first sprayed the original on myself. Out of sheer loyalty, I keep sticking with Cartier, since Must is one of my favorites and I have many versions of it too. So on top of having a few versions of the original Panthere de Cartier, I now have quite a few versions of La Panthere as well. And I am not saying I don't like it. Not at all. What I am saying is that all my versions smell pretty much the same. Let's see...all modern-day La Panthere fumes I have:
La Panthere
La Panthere Legere
La Panthere Edition Soir
La Panthere Extrait
They all smell 99% the same, with maybe a small exception of the Extrait which is a tad sexier and animalic, that one I can differentiate from the rest.
So for those who own any of these La Panthere I listed and are considering trying more flankers, I say don't bother. They all smell the same. If you want something way dirtier, daring, and sexier, go for the Extrait.

perfumehuntern19

It's such a light yet heavy fragrance. To me it screams rich, serious and mature, something that Miranda from the Devil wears Prada would wear. It's not overpowering but it's there. I don't think it's a safe blind buy. You will either love it or gift it to your mom. I think it's mostly appropriate for a lady in her 40's to 50's.

LyubaG

Its a very nice fragrance smells amazing

Adam's Oud

What a hard core beast it is.
Very sensual, powdery with unusually natural smelling beautiful Gardenia note.
I want to have it. Spray heavy Indian oud and this on top. Surely it will make it more masculine.
Even in its pure form I would wear this happily.
Beautiful apricot nicely blended with osmantus. Those 2 have much in common so one can't go wrong with that. Then creamy, narcotic, truly regal Gardenia accord appear. Absolutely stunning.
All these glory resides on a marvelous ol school base of dark patchouli, slightly animalic musk and a touch of regal moss.
Highly recommend! To my nose much better then edt which turns in to a very powdery soapy aroma quite fast. Was surprised as sometimes such a heavy scents opens up nicer in a lower concentration. Not this time in my opinion.
(Confused by the different name and concentrations:)

Splenodour

I hate her. I love her. I respect her. I'm intimidated by her. We do not meet in public, we meet in secret. And when we meet, I obey.

Vetsukuboshi

That's definitely not for me. I had to wash it off because it made me dizzy and feel like throwing up.

taryn renee

All I get, from beginning spray to 2 hours in when I finally gave in to scrub it off, is diaper. At first it was a fresh diaper, but it didn't remain that way. But at least a faint veneer of mint hovers on the whole thing. In the juice's defense, it didn't smell this way on paper. Just on me.

jrobins901

I purchased this one recently from the Australian website Feeling Sexy. I love the website, but this perfume was a big disappointment. It's not that I think it doesn't smell good, but it seems to have absolutely no projection, or longevity on me. I'm puzzled and sad.

LaChinoiserie

I kept hearing about La Panthère from women in the beauty/perfume industry whose opinions I truly trust, as they have tried nearly everything out there and have excellent taste. They all described it as a classy modern chypre; a very beautiful, self-assured lady. Which definitely sounds like the woman I want to be.

I didn’t dare to blind-buy it for months because reading the notes I thought I wouldn’t like it! I usually stay away from sweet and fruity.

After hearing about it for the 100th time from trusted sources I thought - okay this really cannot go wrong. And I am so glad I bought it!!! This is a very attractive, sophisticated, gorgeous woman wafting by. Great hair (I’m picturing like Kate Middleton and Amal Clooney’s sleek bouncy blowouts), satin button-up blouse, worldly, and happy! Honestly I often favour fragrances that are a bit more moody or vampy or nostalgic. But this one, on the other hand, makes me smile and makes me feel energetic. Most notably it makes me feel beautiful.

Don’t know how I went this long without buying it! I truly feel like the price is way too low for what it smells like and not to mention the bottle which is a display piece in itself! Wow!

I really don’t think it smells as retro or as complex as other comments suggest. I can’t imagine anyone finding it anything other than beautiful. It’s a love ♡

Advaitaforever

The opening is a beautiful, refined, and well-behaved gardenia alluding to a bright early spring morning with a beaming, white sun and a refreshing blue sky. I'm also picturing the scent trail of a porcelain lady in a tailored black minidress with stilettos, blonde page boy hair, and dark cherry lipstick walking at pace through a luxurious mall early in the morning, sparkling and brimming with anticipation. It's very feminine and the strawberry features beautifully as fresh, watery accord. I'm relieved the perfume isn't too sweet. Finally, there is a biting oakmoss that lends maturity and depth, preventing the fragrance from becoming forgettable.

The issue is the performance is far too soft that the scent becomes a skin scent after 5 minutes.

Cessarine

Strong pear drops on first spray, quite fruity then settles into a quite pleasant rhubarby, bit mossy. Smelling it on fabric reminds me of the Agent Provocateur in the pink bottle but after a few hours I smell my skin and it’s reminiscent of stale hairspray, a bit acrid. Wanted to love this but it’s a bit meh 😑 on me

ScentedPlaza

Just tested it in the store - Champagne + Old money vibe Fougere. Serious, mature, with a huge character, but bright & pleased with life. "Don't mess with me" vibe. Not a blind buy, just saying.

Magnoliajo

I've had a love-hate relationship with this one but I've decided that I love it and now own a full bottle. When I first encountered this I considered it a little too mature but truthfully I just wasn't sophisticated enough at the time to appreciate it for what it is. It's a perfumey Apple, Rose-tinged, musky fragrance. Apple isn't listed but I can smell a musky green Apple in there unless it's the Rhubarb? This isn't a clean crisp smell despite the apple. It's a powdery (Gardenia?) musky smell with fruit mixed in there. It is definitely a classy and sophisticated fragrance that deserves the wearer to match that description. It lasts very well on the skin and projects a decent distance too which so it should for the price!

Peaches77

Really not what I expected. Ended up giving it to my sister.

bolla2909

This smells like a perfume. Literally, the image of perfume pops up in my head when I smell this. That might sound confusing because it IS a perfume, but that's the best description of it. I'm talking back in the day when perfumes didn't resemble food or candy or drinks, but they were always easily recognisable as perfumes. This is not to my taste at all, but that's irrelevant when writing a review. I'm here to give you decent description of what it smells and feels like. Like most fragrances that I've come across that smell like a perfume, I have a hard time separating the notes, it sort of smells like a big ball of all kinds of things. At best I can describe it as smelling like some patchouli with thicker florals and fruits. Perhaps a teeny bit of skank in there as well? I'm not even sure. This might sound like I'm hating this fragrance or saying it's bad. I most certainly am not. There is a big group of people out there who love these types of fragrances and wear them well.

I'd like to give you a visual.

Think of a lady who wears gold. Her hair is either shoulder length or up in a chignon. She has long red nails. She pays attention to detail with her looks. She wears lipstick. Her lips are getting a bit thinner as she ages and she has some lines around her mouth. She may have smoked when younger. Maybe she still does. But she never smells like cigarettes. She often wears fitted skirts and blouses but she looks far from dated. She's classic, not frumpy or old. Her makeup is immaculate. You will never catch her not looking her best. She's straightforward and may come off as harsh. She won't be fooled by anyone. Not men, not women. She always smells like a perfume. People notice her and remember her. There are some men in their late 50s or early 60s that are looking for wife number 2 after recently getting divorced who have no interest in younger women, that are eyeing her up. She will make them look good when they need to impress. She is classic elegance all the way.

Or, it might suit whoever likes this. I may be pigeonholing the wearer a tad (do I need to insert sarcasm here?) in my description, but hey, this is what I see when I smell it.
I don't resemble this woman one little bit but I've come across her regularly throughout my life. She always smells like this.

Longevity is excellent and it seems to project nicely as well, but I only have a small spray sample so it's hard to say for sure when that's all I've tried. Smaller sprays = smaller projection.

If you get what I'm trying to say here about La Panthère, and you like that image, I'm telling you, this is a no brainer for you to try.

Phresh Man

The smells like a gorgeous principal at a high school!!! She's a principal by day and model by night!
This smells expensive, mature and elegant! This isn't for little girls at all... this is for boss chics!

HibiscusLola

I am very surprised to discover that nobody is resembling this to Agent Provocateur by Agent Provocateur.
They smell so similar! I also reminds me about the Narciso Rodriguez edp.
Rose and patchouli combo, sensual and a bit strong.

Yes Malena

For me this is gardenia, oakmoss, a deliciously tiny hint of animalic sweetness--all that accompanied at all times by a fresh, green rose and an indeterminate lovely fruitiness that is NOT peach, thank gods. I do not get leather, but I love what I am getting. It is average lasting power. I would treasure a full bottle of this. I fear I wouldn't have much opportunity to wear it, because it's so expressive, but who cares? I do get musk, but on me this does not show powderiness. Not completely unlike Rose of No Man's Land by Byredo, but I like this so much better because of the oakmoss. It is only the rose that is a similar rose in both.

Perpetual Collector

I struggle with mychinarose's review below. I originally scrolled past it, but it was eating on me, so I came back to comment. NR fumes are quite polarizing and not everyone's cup of tea. Neither is Panthere, regardless of which version we are talking about.
I have started wearing the original Panthere in 1989, when i was just a kid. When I started collecting fragrances I bought my own vintage Panthere with gold cap, and today I have quite a few versions of it, both vintage and new formulations. I also collect Narciso Rodriguez perfumes, and I have to say that these two, no matter which bottle is in question, have nothing in common. Aside from the white cube EDP and white bottle oil, all Narciso perfumes are quite sharp, simple and astringent, due to mix of musk and rose. Panthere is heavy and complicated, animalic, floral, fruity, sweet, full-bodied, full femme, in your face type of perfume.
Coming back to the white NR cube, which is the complete opposite of sharp and astringent, we get pure musk with slight nuances of light florals - your skin but better type of fragrance, which once again, has nothing to do with neither old formulation Panthere, nor the new, current version. For the record, white cube is my holly grail perfume and if i had to pick only one single bottle to keep from my entire collection, it would be that one.
I would be so sad if someone who dislikes NR creations missed on Panthere, thinking they are similar in any way, because they most certainly are not. Also, the old version and the new are quite different as well, where the current formulation is much more wearable in 2021, but still very feminine, if I might say so!

mychinarose

After an initial mixed opening, this dried down to a very similar musk to the Narciso Rodriguez Narciso fragrance (white bottle). It's maybe slightly more floral and just a touch fruity. I appreciate all of the different notes that combine to take you on a fragrance journey instead of just a linear experience. I have a manufacturer sample of this, but since I already own Narciso I don't need it. Still if you like NR fragrances I think you'll like this one.

We seek a precious cat of the jungle, delicate of footstep among the flowers that powder its skin. It has its growl, a strange moment of topnotes that wiped out my head for a moment, a curious olfactory blank buzzing in my nostrils. The panther is elusive, confusing, but once you see it... Yes, then its shape becomes more clear, classic white florals very elegantly done, almost sheer in softness without dissolving into bland soapdom. Doesn't disappear in a hurry either. I see other reviewers write that they would keep it for special occasions, but this I could wear every day, to the office or at home, daytime, evening... I just don't quite get the opener. So I think it is time for a tester to try over a few days at home, because this is a rare and exquisite beast.

Atomikbomb_

It's been over a year since trying this first, and I've now spent 3 days in it (a sample goes far with this one).

I remember thinking the opening of this was too much...I don't now. It's a blast of fruitiness and crisp florals. It's a lot, but I kind of enjoy it 😆 Many people might not like it until 5 minutes later though when it dries a bit.

It smells like a modern, well-sung version of a Fleetwood Mac song - dated, but intentional, with a modern style. The oakmoss and gardenia are beautiful together, and smell both earthy and clean. This perfume is expertly balanced, but fun enough and never gets too "rich".

It has great longevity, but modest sillage (I didn't say none, but it's present while being polite). The musk is very pleasant to me.

Cats carry themselves well, and this makes me stand a little taller too. I think it's quite wearable, but has a ton of character.

Cartier La Panthere is a very pretty scent that, to my nose, at least, is as if Lalique de Lalique + Jacomo For Her had a baby. It has the fruitiness of Lalique (they share a pear note, but strawberry is definitely present in the top notes of La Panthere) and the almost animalic quality of Jacomo For Her (but the only notes they share, according to the notes list, is rose and patchouli -- frankly, I don't smell patchouli particularly in either of them, and I get absolutely NO oakmoss from La Panthere, either.) My main problem with La Panthere -- the EDT, at least -- is that it has almost no staying power on me; after about an hour, I can barely smell it on my skin. Lalique and Jacomo, on the other hand, have decent longevity (around 4-5 hours), notable especially because they're quite inexpensive, yet the much pricier La Panthere fails in this department. If you like La Panthere, but don't like the price or longevity, both Lalique de Lalique and Jacomo For Her are wonderful choices that are in the same genre, in my opinion.

perfumeshewrote

La Panthère opens like a mix dried fruit liqueur. Alcoholic, sticky, sweet, with a touch of licorice and with rhubarb, anise and strawberry candy.

If the scent stopped there and never evolved, I wouldn't like it that much, I have a complicated history with strawberry. Fortunately, over time, the strawberry becomes lighter and lighter, until it disappears.

A green gardenia softened slightly by rose and ylang-ylang. Both rose and ylang-ylang are almost imperceptible. Oakmoss immediately becomes the king of this composition, bitter, slightly balsamic and immediately after comes the musk which fortunately does not bother me or give me an headache. This perfume is strong but elegant.

This perfume, for me, is not an everyday perfume. It is a special perfume, to be worn on an important occasion.

Magenta78

Obliterated the sense of sorrow I felt. I no longer mourn Gucci Accenti, No 3...to name just a few gems having been either discontinued or reformulated.
The solid foundation is what matters. The base is of the highest quality. Impeccably done. Not just the oakmoss, the whole chord downstairs is spectacular.
The best perfume for women. Don't say I didn't tell you :-)

dizedd

It smells like an actual panther tackled you.

I like strong scents, I loved the bottle, I actually collect big cat items. My house looks like it's safari themed, completely by accident. This stuff is bad. I disliked it on opening, left it on and thought it would get better- throughout the 4 hours I wore it it did change a bit, but never for the better. Too animalic for me.

bashe

This is an absolute and unique masterpiece. As already said many times: expensive and sophisticated. Not safe as blind buy though. But very very high class.
You will be recognized and well remembered.

Smonalisa

La Panthere is what Narciso Rodriguez white cube was trying to do but missed. They got it just right here, the woodiness, musk, animalistic notes well rounded with the right sweetness and powder. Has an old world perfume vibe but yet modern. Boss Lady for sure.

Mona708

I love it! It’s a stronger version of La Panthere Legere- specifically, it’s more animalic and musky with stronger powdery and floral notes as well. I can see it being too much during the height of the summer, though. It’s a wonderful blend of primal and sophisticated.

Reemispowder

Very strong, expensive and sophisticated. Excellent performance and longevity. It’s not for me though, I wouldn’t wear this daily cause i prefer lighter, calmer and clean powdery perfumes. I would wear it on special occasions like weddings and date night for sure!

Darkstar _ Destroyer

Blind bought this for my wife. Absolutely love it on her! Smells luxurious and opulent. This is the scent I would imagine Marilyn Monroe rocking. So feminine and still a strong projector. Good stuff!

Loree

Oh, Lord. Where do I begin. I received a sample of this and never in my life I was so repulsed by a smell. I felt like it burnt my nose, scratched my throat, made me throw up. Jesus Christ, what is this. Before searching on fragrantica I thought it was launched 50 years ago, not in 2014. And let's be clear, I am 40 years old, not 25. Made me search for similar perfumes, just to know and to avoid them.

Addielee

Beautiful!!!! Love Love love!!! It's so unique and kind of retro in a way. It seems insanely expensive in my opinion but at the same time I feel old Hollywood fabulous when I wear it. One of a kind in a really beautiful way 10/10

elegantshnozzie

I was really looking forward to smelling a nouveau chypre, especially since recently Eau du Soir has become one of my absolute favorites. Unfortunately, the combination of gardenia and leather in La Panthere smells painfully fecal. Not a warm animalic fecal but a cold off-putting fecal. Almost like bad breath in the winter... That's the tricky thing about gardenia-- it can be bright and summery or heavy and stinky. Grossin' myself out writing this!!!

Stassa

The first time I sampled this on my wrist, maybe 15 minutes after the initial spray, I felt as if a panther had ran me over and left its scent on me. I don't know if the title "La Panthere" influenced my thoughts, but it's honestly how I felt. Over the next couple of hours I kept sniffing my wrist, and I still smelled the panther together with maybe cassis to put it nicely? Or maybe cat piss? That might be more accurate, lol. That's when I decided to buy it. I'm owned by 3 cats, who I find to be the most majestic creatures in the universe, so a fragrance that gives me cat piss vibes, is a definite YES for me, as it brings me closer to my fluffy goddesses.

After I bought this fragrance and started wearing it almost daily, the initial thrill of its animalistic essence became somewhat a routine, so I started to detect more notes. I can now say that after a few hours, it dries down to the cleanest musk I have ever worn. It's a mature fragrance, but not age-wise mature. It's more of a personality-mature fragrance. It also goes without saying that this would compliment any modern cat person in the world.

I would definitely buy this over and over again. I do wonder if it relates somehow to the original "Panther" from the 80s, which I have not had the opportunity to sample...

cranky137

It's classy and for those women that are "perfume trained" on a classical Chanel N5 generation. Definitely for older women (I am 35 and I find myself too young for this particular scent). Nothing too extraordinary, but a good alternative to the classical vintage Chanel/Guerlain/Estee Lauder fans.

I am glad I could finish my sa,ple, but I prefer modern perfumery :)

GabrielleeeeeW

Elegant and classy but also a bit bossy. It's along the same vein as Chloe Nomade (they both share the prominent oakmoss note but not too similar) but while Nomade is a bit more casual this one feels elevated. It's not fruity in a traditional sense but I do get the dried fruits and it's not too sweet. Performance is great, it's a strong scent which projects well and is long lasting. It's pretty unique and it's an interesting and very likeable perfume overall. I'm impressed.

natachef

My grandmother used to hold a weekly card game in the eighties for a group of very elegant ladies. They wore real furs and pearl necklaces. This could be their collective scent.

chinna

Is just like Narciso Rodriguez for Her

oxanagiel

Personally, this fragrance is not for me. It's a heavier powdery floral with musk that reminds me of what women in the 90's would wear in an office. An old school fragrance that has been produced before, nothing special in my opinion. The lasting power on this is really good on my skin, I tried scrubbing it off and I still smelled it. However, people seem to really like it so definitely try it out!

jadepo21

Such a rich, elegant, and truly timeless perfume. Not for all seasons nor for all body chemistries, but for cold-weather elegance and seduction, this truly lives up to the name and bottle - there is something cat-like in it. Slinky and sexy, mysterious and aloof. It's far less fruity than the notes might have you believe, and the musk is somehow not masculine or overpowering. It's really quite sophisticated for the price point. Could hold its own with much higher-end labels.

Nooshin (Atghia)

Cartier La Panthère and its flankers re-assign the codes of traditional chypres while giving them a highly contemporary feel. A green and crunchy pear introduces a naturalistic floral bouquet. Home to a white gardenia that gradually takes on colour as it comes into contact with a rose. The chypre intensifies, without every tipping over into darkness, procuring a classical aura without any overlay dramatic effects. The silky, velvety musks add an abstract dimension. Creating a noble, haughty sillage which is extraordinary on every level.

StillJuliaGayle

Wow! Handle with care, this is an old-school, Hollywood Diva for special occasions only fragrance! The dried fruits, rhubarb, rose and leather are the most prominent with patchouli, musk and anise revealing themselves as your skin warms to the fragrance. It has a Venus in Furs sensuousness to it that most modern scents do not have. Spritz and feel like you are at a winter ball, Jean Harlow in "Bombshell" or Laura in "Dr Zhivago". This can be very overpowering with the wrong body chemistry but with the right one, it is lush and fierce. It really should be used only on winter evenings, preferably in front of a roaring fire, on a bearskin rug with Omar Shariff!

Suejoybbq

I long anticipated sampling this fragrance, but I’m sadly a little disappointed. I read a review that this is like a boss lady at work, but I think it smells more like an intern who’s trying hard to be liked. It reminds me of CH VIP 212 Rosé, how it goes really soapy. I appreciate the oakmoss and rose, as well as the surprising fruitiness, but if I want to smell like soap, I wouldn’t waste money on perfume. I got a nice whiff of strawberry- I feel like strawberry is a childish smell. While I enjoy it, I would pay Bath and bodyworks price for strawberry smell, not Cartier price. I think this fragrance is ok, but somehow I was expecting - more. I prefer the oakmoss in Chloe Nomade, and I love Cartier’s Baiser Vole. I may finish my Scentbox sample because the smell is ok, its nice, but sadly, not FBW for me.

Lee SteL

I lived on tropical country
Which this kind of perfume will hv great projection and longevity
But its not my style

I bought it because i smell it in mall with super cold Air condioner
It become smoother on my nose in cold weather

But for me it has luxury scent, classic, and elegant
And i love the bottle (Lol)

Repurchase?
Maybe No

Diana1983

I usually only buy high end perfumes but Panthere can easily compete. If you want to smell like an elegant rich woman buy it, its a classic. Its not dowdy or dated like Chanel No.5 but still has that sophistication and robustness. The silage is great, the price is affordable and you'll be walking around feeling like the bees knees!

IMadeleine

This is a classic! I received a sample today along with my beautiful Chanel Coco and in my opinion it has the same classic vintage, mature, elegant vibe. I really like it and i am gonna add it to my collection soon. Although i am only 26 y'o, i feel confident smelling La Panthere.

carollyncheeyen

The opening didn't smell of strawberries, it smelled a bit like gum, mixed with a bit of super glue kind of smell. Probably the dried fruit note mixed with rhubarb effect. I was expecting strawberries.
I didn't catch star anise. Do not enjoy the opening that well.

Then comes the florals. It blends with the slightly diminished fruits scent, and the super glue scent goes away. It is much better. The dry down is good.

The description is rather accurate. It is a fruity sweet plus white floral scent.

Suits winter fall or evening events.

Very feminine.

Can be cloying especially the opening. Projects well and lasts well.

*I later tried it in an air-conditioned cool room, the opening super glue fruity scent was very brief, transformed into gardenia-moss very promptly. And that is all good to me. :)
I can also identify the rhubarb note at the background. I have Le'Imperatrice, thus I learned common note in both which is the rhubarb note.

So there you have it, careful if you plan to use it in warm weather. Fortunately the heart and dry down is very good regardless of warm or cool conditions haha.

Keonaaa

Very similar to Gucci Guilty Absolute Pour Femme!

Таня_х

Elegant, slightly animalic, musky gardenia. This is a very beautiful scent, it's a classy and non-mainstream one, with a very good performance and suitable for all seasons and maybe occasions, as long as you dress in a more elegant way. Signature worthy.
To me this scent isn't really fruity, but there is a slight lipstick-y vibe to it, which I personally like. Also, I'm in my twenties and I wouldn't call this scent overly mature or "dated". It's just classy and elegant, and it's simply not what most women are used to any longer, considering the sweet sugary scents that dominate the market nowadays, unfortunately.
Cartier is an amazing brand, the whole presentation and performance of their fragrances screams "quality" and the price is really worth it, something I can't really say for many other "reputable" brands.

PS: Can't wait to get my hands on the Edition Soir, seems to be even more musky and animalic than the original La Panthere.

uno

Mathidle Laurent can creates whole plants scent.... for example, when she create flower's scent, the scent contains flowers, stems, leaves, pollen and calyx, roots with soil, and all raw. This style gives perfume lively complexity and elegance.

La Panther starts with Rhubarb and some fruits, but it's not fruity sweet but sour.Because fruits are raw and fresh, having stems and leaves.
After top notes gone, flowers begin to bloom.Flowers are also not such sweet. Smells like raw flowers and bit of mineral. does this scent means 'chypre'?.
La Panther is first enjoyable chypre for me, though other chypre fragrances tend to be overpowering.

first time I smell Le Panther, I thought it car pee.But yesterday I wore and noticed how this perfume is.
I don't know why I caught cat pee smell. I guess, it depends on physical condition.
-------------------------------------
I don't know why I smell cat pee.
I think I need another try.

Stephaniejo

This sadly is a no for me. On my skin and to my nose it's soooooo vintage, and not in a good way. I'm certain on the right person it's amazing. But not for me. I had wanted to try for a while and nearly bought blind, very glad I didn't. I think it's a definite try before you buy!

Mamaterer

classy, elegant, bougee in a bottle. i dont get the fruitiness. all i get is earthy, petrichor, forest breeze smell, with added sweetness to it, but just a bit to make the fragrance enjoyable. the fragrance is not yummy, not gourmandy, and certainly not sensual to me, but there is something about this perfume that makes me addicted. this is one of the perfume that makes you sniff deeply into the smell. absolutely well made. very good to use when you are having a relaxing session and also during formal event. absolitely will repirchase for the beautiful bottle and smell. the sillage and longetivity is moderate i dont get powerhouse performance on this.

frusia

If you look up photos of Jeanne Toussaint you'll have an idea of what La Panthere smells like. It's attractive and strong, independent, full of personality, interesting.

I really like the way La Panthere has been made - it has a strong retro vibe, but it is modern. Great scent.

Diari

In this original La Panthere the peachy dried fruit accord similar to the extreme drydown of Chanel's Coco EDP in La Panthere Legere is trumped by a velvety creaminess I couldn't quite discern. It's lovely nonetheless: Bright, prim and proper.

Migalex

It is quite a nice fragrance, a true chypre, but I must be anosmic to it, because, apart from the first 20 minutes or so, I can only smell it extremely faintly. It is a pity.

Despair

This is a stunning scent. And I mean absolutely gorgeous.

A deliciously creamy white floral with some sweet-ish fruit, and the oakmoss and leather really give it some structure and edge. Extremely classy and a total confidence boost. A few other comments mentioned that this is for such a well established, successful lady that they almost feel like they can't pull this off. I refuse to think so, and instead this is something I will wear when I feel the need to fake it till I make it, as they say.

(Longevity and projection are both fantastic as well.)

d_silent_one

This is truly one of the best perfumes I have. This is pure elegance, distinction, finesse. It has a crazy lasting power and has tremendous sillage. One day my mom had it on and when I kissed her, that was it, it stayed on me for the rest of the day. I was smelling like her, like the way it smells on her skin with her chemistry. It's crazy.

This is the representation of a well established woman. She built her own empire from the ground up. She made herself into the greatness that she is now: she is money. She dresses in skirt suits and wears her hair up. She has the right makeup on. Everybody has to say hello to her and shake hands with her respectfully because she is the CEO of her company.

diana2015

Undoubtedly, this is a masterpiece, a modern classic standing apart in a world and a time of sweetchoulis. There's nothing else like it, and I believe that once you've smelled it, you'll never forget it. There's a play of light from the creamy white flowers and the sour sweetness of the fruit in it, along with a dark, almost eerie undertone coming from the oakmoss, like a carnal breath of rain-soaked earth mixed with sunshine.

The strawberry and pear give this perfume a playful twist, but it's toned down by the tartness of the rhubarb and the sharpness of the white flower-musk-oakmoss combo.
I agree that this has a vintage air to it, elegant from the white leather and at the same time sober and opulent from the flowers.

It doesn't necessarily make me think of a panther, either lazy or in stalking mode, and I once heard someone saying that this perfume was created to complement the famous Cartier panther brooches. Anyway, I imagine this worn by a wealthy woman dressed in satin and adorned with diamonds. Or it could be worn even while alone at home, in the nude or with a soft robe on.

I only had a sample of this a while ago and never bought a fb because, unfortunately, every time I wore it I ended up with a headache, probably from the strong dose of oakmoss in it. But now I plan to revisit La Panthere, maybe buy another sample or the Soir edition. I find myself missing it whenever I catch a whiff of it from someone passing by.

Edit 3/28/2022:

I just bought a 75 ml bottle of this marvelous elixir after testing it again. They must have reformulated it because now I find it fruitier and less earthy. In any case, the oakmoss in the current formulation doesn't bother me at all! A like turned to love, and a new favorite!❤️🐆

Chulula

I am ashamed to admit, but i have finished off the sample bottle at one of perfume shops in my town... they didn't have the actual perfume anymore, but may go on a searching trip to get myself a bottle for next winter.
It's a creamy classic. Powerful in a way that is settled an "not in your face"
It will work great at the opera, movie premier or if you want to be ab bad ass at a client meeting. Not for camping or a zoo trip :-)

bintTapputi

Kind of a mature, well established, classy lady vibe. It's very elegant, pretty strong and I think you have to be the right kind of person to pull it off. Has a high end storefront kind of thing going on, where you feel like they spay this on $200 silk shirts. It's not for me, but it not bad. 6/10

Ninaleen

If La Panthere were a person, he or she would be pleasantly complex and utterly unforgettable.

There is a TON of rhubarb that then gives way to a big floral. The note is supposed to be gardenia but all I could smell was rose, however that’s probably due to the fact I was wearing a rose fragrance on my clothes when I tried this one and it probably threw me off. Anyway, it was big on the flowers but certainly not dainty. More like a big, big flower as opposed to a shy, delicate one. My only gripe is the dry down. It has a sour sharpness to it that I found very jarring.

Having said that, I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I’ve only smelled it once when I tried it on at the makeup counter, but even the following day I could swear I was still getting whiffs of it. That was impossible because a full 24 hours had gone by. I just couldn’t get the scent out of my head, especially the rhubarb.

I ended up ordering it online and I’m waiting for it to arrive. :) Can’t wait to wear this out and about.

bug.juice.184

This is a delicate and modern, creamy floral actually. I don't get a fruty thing. Not bad, little flat for me, and certainly wonderful for a people that are into florals. There is something not likeable for me, but that's personal. Overall, this perfume is simple and elegant, mature, I can understand how can some people adore it. I layered it with a tiny tiny bit of sandalwood, bergamot, frangipani and oakmoss essential oils mix, and it's in another quantic dimension now. The creamy effect stays but this move gave it much more debt and make it uber sexy and mysterious.

Edit: Experiment - I layered Angel by Mugler edp with La Panthere edp, and it is so lovely, strawberries are now getting on the surface and chocolate, and pathouli lift the composition up. They melted so smoothly, I am so surprised.

anngelica

In my opinion, this is a creation representing the brand-new age of olfactory molecules: bland, bloomy, chemical.

The bottle is really beautiful, but the content... The first splash is nice. But further it has absolutely nothing animalistic and rather gives you the sugar floss feeling of the funfair cat. In my perception of things, gold should definitely smell deeper and richer than this.

It seems that back in 2011, the things were much better on the non-niche perfumes market: the lush lily of Baiser Vole by Cartier is, on the contrary, a stunning creation.

Today I tested this perfume at the store and I get what most people here say about it. So much so, that I feel it is not for me. This is not just a smell-good perfume. It's got upper-class written all over it. It requires upper-class clothes, house, car..... but most of all attitude. This is the kind of perfume that if you are not wearing the proper clothes, you will feel it. And yet....The smell of it is somehow familiar, as if I have smelt it before. It's not the first time I have this happening to me with new perfumes. Sometimes I have the feeling that "There's nothing new under the sun of perfumery", Summing it up, it's good.

MnM

So many great reviews...notes seemed perfect... I bit and purchased it. I received it and sprayed, and I gagged. Ugh it reminds me of a pomade my brother used to use when he was very young. I gave it some time, same thing, it made me gag and couldn't wait to wash it off :( yuck yuck

Funny thing, my hubby loves it.

Gorgeous Bottle!!!!

Returning this puppy.

lidyago summed it up beautifully in a past review: La Panthère really does smell like gold. For me, this is the perfect modern take on the classic chypre structure. It is gilded, glitzy, and glamorous. The traditional bones are there: sharp oakmoss, bright bergamot, and leafy patchouli.

The magic here lies in the rich set of olfactory accoutrements, many of which might seem excessive and discordant, yet which come together to produce an astonishingly rich and evocative perfume. The creamy gardenia and neutral musk furnish the decadent almost-but-never-quite animalic flesh of the perfume, while the dried fruits, rose, leather, and ylang provide a syrupy (but not sweet), narcotic undercurrent that bathes the other notes in unctuous elegance. The final touches—the strawberry-rhubarb acidity, along with the sweet orange blossom, juicy pear, and cool anise—throw a bright, almost sour gossamer veil over the whole thing, creating depth and contrasting with the sumptuousness of the heavier notes.

One would think La Panthère might risk becoming crowded and cacophonous with so many assertive accords, but this is a fine dinner party we're attending, not a football afterparty! The different personalities are simultaneously subsumed into and highlighted by one another, thanks to the chemistry of the blend. This is indeed a masterful, very formal scent—it really does smell like money. Something about it recalls Chanel's Coco, but less dated and smoother. Better with cooler weather and evening wear. And the bottle is heavy, ornate, and a bit excessive, just like the juice inside!

Bluebirdpsyche

Damn, this smells good. I just put on a shirt from yesterday, that I had on while wearing this and, like another reviewer said, “this smells like gold”. Tho I must admit, I’m not entirely comfortable wearing this perfume, maybe because it feels more like La Panthere is wearing me, more then I’m wearing her.

There is a slight metallic smell that I get, that smells of blood to me. Gives me the impression of a recently fed huntress. I would like to think that I myself am the huntress, but usually I feel like it’s me, who’s just been the hunted....

This is a compliment getter for sure. I turn heads when wearing this one.

Longevity is A+. I’ve taken a shower after wearing this all day, and I could still smell it on my skin. Lasts for weeks on clothes. All in all this is an elegant sophisticated classy fragrance, and shes beautiful! —I’m just a little scared of her 😹

éciboszi

It has a mysterious elegant classic scent.
Glass is a masterpiece like hidden nectar.

It can be a kitten if you carry it, but it can also be a wildcat.

letamercy

My go-to "Girl Boss" perfume. This just oozes sophisticated authority, if such a thing exists.

Oakmomss, gardenia, musk, patchouli are what my skin picks up consistently, and they work so well together! Creamy, smooth, animalic. Every time I put on La Panthere, I feel the need to polish up my look.

Slightly sweet at the start from the strawberry and rhubarb (mostly rhubarb), then this beautiful, smooth leather comes out as the fragrance dries down and joins the Oakmoss, gardenia, musk, patchouli orchestra.
I can feel some bit of ylang ylang smoothing the development, but it's very subtle.

I hope to always have bottle of this beauty in my collection, or a similar flanker (maybe Legere).

Perfumedsecrets

Earlier today I sprayed on Narciso Rodriguez edt, but after an hour that wasn't enough for me. I then sprayed La Panthere, and that did the trick. Both compliment each other. With La Panthere I never get the fruits, mostly oak moss and musk. Refined and elegant. It's a modern take on a classic.

Ray Lidya

This smells like gold

maci2222

I'm surprised I like this, though I have been dying to try it for a long time. It has a lot of interesting things going on and I have never smelled anything like this. The opening is a bit harsh, I was getting some kind of big fruit, for a second I was thinking licorice or musk but then it might be rhubarb? It moves quickly into some gardenia I think it must be (having never had a gardenia scent) and then it adds some flowers. I feel like I slowly go nose blind to it over 15 minutes or so, I have no idea why but it is frustrating since I like the smell. While it has fruit it is not a gourmand at all. It is very ladylike and classy. Someone mentioned Narciso, which this is not reminding me of in the least.

jung_yunho26

If you've watched how Mathilde Laurent conceptualized this one, then you'd be astounded with how she visualized a gardenia flower to be.

This isn't creamy but quite dry and sour with a certain amount of sweetness. Beautifully, the leather and strawberry just rounds out the composition and not turns it into another La Vie est Belle.

Also quite a chypre with a handy bag of oakmoss but the overall feel is sophisticated and extremely femme.

Mme Laurent said that it was like a panther awaiting for prey to come upon it. Not the ferocious side, but of the splendor of a svelte predator. This is beautiful.

churinl

A departure from the big, creamy gardenia/tuberose notes I love, and a delightful one!! I do find it innovative in the way it bridges the divide between modern and retro fragrances, and makes the chypre structure relevant again. Many have already commented on this, so I will put it this way. I own many gardenia and white floral fragrances. I also own many older, vintage chypres. I do not have anything quite like this in my collection. I appreciate it, and like it very much! I agree it makes a great daytime scent, but I would wear this in the evening to a business-type function. Bonus points for the cool bottle!

aabut

This smells like a 90’s lady. I don’t mean it the bad way, i mean it is classy, comforting, clean. It smells like a lady who doesn’t have giant lips, unnatural hips. It smells like the world before the kardashians.

evapap181977

this is a very classy and well blended scent.despite the reformulation it s pretty much the same scent i smelled on my mother s best friend.maybe a bit lighter but this is not a problem.it screams woman with personality...not very easy to pull off .smells luxury, the projection and longevity are strong a scent for special occasions

Amascent

Elegant, classic, beautiful day fragrance. Slight spice, a little animalistic, and very makeup countery. Just soft and refined.

chimidoro

This is going to be a really short review.
I love La Panthere, it is one of my favorite fragrances.
But I honestly wish it wasn't quite so fruity.
Once I begin to smell the apple in this, I am put right off the scent. If I do not smell the apple I am still aware of the fruit, but find the musk and gardenia heavenly. The fruit carries the notes well in this case.
Really glorious, very sensual and smooth. Lasts all day on my skin, leaving a faint whisper toward the end of said day. I always bury my face in this one, except when I can smell that darn apple. Hate that apple note.

Czarcasm

I got a tester of La Panthere to see if I like it enough to purchase a full bottle. La Panthere reminds me of another perfume I used to own, Chloé Nomade. I can definitely smell some similarities between these two, especially in the first hour of wearing. Upon first spraying you get a blast of fruit, I can smell the strawberries and dried fruits best.

After the first hour La Panthere becomes more of a skin scent on me, moreso than Nomade ever was. The gardenia takes center stage and overpowers the other notes. Overall I would say La Panthere smells a bit spicy and sour. The drydown is a mix of musk and oakmoss. I don't love it or hate it. It's just kind of 'meh' to me.

La Panthere does last for a long time, it easily sticks around for over 12 hours on my skin. Sillage wise I'd say it performs good as well. Not a skin scent but not too overpowering either.

La Panthere is an okay fragrance. It's not horrible but it doesn't do much for me either. I don't think I'll even purchase a full bottle of this. I like Chloé Nomade better as it's a little more feminine and not as sour smelling.

sibaraa

A classic and elegant white floral. Not heady at all. You will fall in love upon first spray.

MadeiraD

This used to be one of my favorites, but either my bottles have gone WAY off very quickly or my nose has changed. I'm heart broken.

Elsee

Received a sample of this and it reminded me of Juliette Has Gun - Lady Vengeance. Anyone else think so?

Either way -- both amazing perfumes!!

batgirl.27

To me, this fragrance is the epitome of retro glamour, but with a sexy modern twist. It is really quite unlike most of the newer fragrances on the market - it's definitely fruity on the first blush, but the oakmoss and gardenia at the heart really set it apart from the usual vanilla backed fruities.

It's not really a fragrance where the individual notes are discernible - but they all blend together perfectly to smell "grown-up", expensive and sophisticated. I find it best for winter time and warming up cold skin. It really isn't "too much" though, as some vintage/retro leaning scents can be - the fruit notes keep it modern enough and it won't enter the room before you do.

The bottle is glorious but could double very well as a paper-weight/murder weapon - it weighs a ton and doesn't lend itself to be carried around in a handbag! Definitely one for the dressing table.

binthadifa

Tried a sample and yes, it's different. Men can wear this, too, in my opinion. I never thought this would work on me, but I really enjoyed it. It smells expensive, too. You won't forget this scent easily. It's a surprise in a good way.

Nicki6089

This is definitely different and nothing in my collection smells like this idk how I feel about it yet

So good and unique! If you‘re not into old school/vintage perfumes, don‘t be afraid. I‘m not and I really like this. Yes, it has a retro edge due to the oakmoss and the chypre structure, and it‘s not a super girly and on-trend kind of scent. But La Panthere has a modern twist, too, and there is no trace of that musty-dusty thing you might sometimes get from older fragrances. I would even say this is quite an innovative perfume because the combination of notes is so unusual.

I agree with everyone who mentioned similarities to the creamy musk and gardenia in Narciso EDP (white cube), and I also get a hint of the dirtier musk in the NR for her line (oblong bottles). I usually strongly dislike the latter, but in this case the blend works on my skin. It doesn‘t cross the line from sexy to sweaty. It’s just not a fresh laundry musk.
Patchouli is obviously here to support the oakmoss. I get a small hint of rose, too. And the fruity notes are just divine. The rhubarb is tart and fresh, the dried fruits are warm and enveloping, and the strawberry is really special. What a genius idea to blend strawberries, the epitome of sweet youthful fruitiness, into a more grown-up musky floral chypre! It‘s almost like a perfumey, glamorous, non-gourmand milk shake in a way.
The drydown smells like an expensive face cream and dried apricots, which sounds weird, but really works. It‘s creamy and polished, but with hints of sharpness.

I couldn‘t imagine wearing La Panthere as an everyday scent myself, but someone else could certainly do so. Just be careful on the trigger, this projects quite strongly and is also long-lasting.

Sherine777

This is sooo good!

It resembles Narciso the white cube, as they both are Gardenia/Musk but when compared side by side this is more chypre, while Narciso is more creamy.

It has this glamorous retro feeling, without being outdated, Viviana21 is quite right.

Those white florals are creeping on me again :)

And this one is done superbly, it's strong and makes its presence known, but not overwhelming.

Viviana21

This is one of my top 5. After trying it in a department store, I went and purchased it a few days after because I kept on thinking about it. Even if you sample multiple perfumes at the same time (like myself), guaranteed this will be one that stands out. Classy, elegant, mature, but not in a granny way, but in a sophisticated, self-made, business woman way. I agree with the review below mentioning this is a fusion between retro and modern perfumery. On my skin it lasts more than 8h.

I wish I could wear this more often, but I am afraid it is not for everyday grocery shopping or office use (unless you're the boss, then you can wear anything), but only for special events.

colorfulmess

A musk forward scent that is earthy, sweet, rubbery. Slight echo of white florals, but mostly sweet musk. Pretty close to Narciso in the white bottle.

drawingmaniac35

For some reason, I have been avoiding this for a while now. I recently tested it on my wrist and forgot completely about it. Turns out the small leather bracelet I wear caught it and throughout the entire day I kept wondering where that beautiful smell is coming from. It smells so elegant, classy and kind of sexy to be honest. The longevity and sillage are to die for and I have already ordered a small bottle of La Panthere.

thecoffeeslayer

The first spray and dry down was sickly fruity sweet, rhubarb, and oakmoss. The sweetness gets less sickly, and more sweet/tart rhubarb as it dries down.
The gardenia note in this is lovely. I cannot stress that enough. Regrettably, the musk & oakmoss both turned into sweaty sour terror on me. But, the gardenia was so lovely through it all.

Sadly, I developed a migraine when wearing this. There's something about this that brings out my migraines, like a lot of the fragrances of the 80s and early 90s did/do.

This has staying power. I took a shower, then tried to wash this off with both dish soap & LAVA soap. It remained. If you need a fragrance to last through swimming, this is it.

Rose du soir

This is the modern chypre. Comparatively much softer than the 80s kind. Gardenia and musk are the main notes together with oakmoss, and the result is graceful and feminine. This panther is a tame one, inviting, with such a beautiful soft fur. But it still has the presence of a panther, not the kind of animal to be messed with. And not a fragrance to overspray, or it will bite.
La Panthère has certainly inspired a few fragrances. It's pretty similar to Narciso Rodriguez Narciso (the white cube one). Its rhubarb and fruity floral notes are found in Mugler Aura, although these two are very different. And Chloé Nomade is a much sweeter, more youthful version of this floral fruity chypre. If I could compare them, I'd say Nomade is a tomboyish girl, original and outdoorsy. And La Panthère is her elegant businesswoman mother. Warm and feminine, she has natural authority both at home and in the office. She's the boss !

1guy1dog3cats

La Panthère is a fusion of retro and modern perfumery, a strong “like” bordering on “love.” At its center is a pillar of oakmoss, a staple of many vintage scents. Surrounding that, a gardenia that’s been refracted through a haze of dried fruit. I haven’t typically enjoyed gardenia in perfume, but here, it takes on a musky, animalic quality—flora becomes fauna. Like a panther, it’s smooth and slinky, with all the assertiveness of an apex predator. Suitable for boardrooms and bedrooms. And that bottle! *It’s to-die-for.* (Maybe literally—it’s a heavy block of glass/weapon!)

Tee_23

I love cartiere. I’ve been wearing this perfume for almos 3 years during my college and i loved it. You can feel really Parisieen while wearing this fragrance. Longevity is strong! You should definitely try once during you 20s.

nehash_1

La Panthere smells nothing like any of the perfumes I own. It is one of those 'hunger inducing' yummy perfumes that grow on you. Not sure how to describe the dry down - it makes you smell fresh, like you just got out of a luxurious bath. I get a clean soapy flowery smell which lasts quite a long time on me. The sillage is moderate though, it is the kind of perfume that sits closer to the skin. It makes you feel luxurious and is a very unique modern scent. And yes, I absolutely adore that bottle with the panther peeping through it.

giri-boni

I really wish I could understand why I, a fan of ANIMALE, Aromatics Elixir, Soir de Lune and other classic chypres cannot stand this one. It is beautiful, but maybe for me oakmoss is DRY while gardenia is CREAMY and this blend just didnt work.

Nancy83

I like to go outside my comfort zone from time to time, but this time it was a miss. I got many samples of the original EDP and Édition Soir and even if I was expecting it was not my style, it really didn't work for me and actually make me feel sick.

I didn't dislike the first minutes, an earthy fruity floral chypre smell, not friendly but still in common ground, but then as it goes on it gets heavier and heavier, more and more floral leathery chypre and it made me dizzy. When I smelled my skin it smelled ok, but the cloud it emanated around me was just too much, I don't know if this is my skin chemistry. It softened after 6-8 hours and I could smells more the notes. The day after I could still sniff it throughout the day even if I've tried to wash it off.

I can get why some people like, it has a very vintage feel to it, it smells sophisticated, bold, I got compliments, but it's just not for me, it didn't make me feel well so this is a deal breaker.

I have a lot of Cartier samples and they are hit and miss with me, if I have to buy one it would be Must De Cartier Gold, an earthy vanilla scent. I won't try La Panthère Édition Soir, it seems too similar on paper and I don't want to take a chance, my experience with the EDP was bad.

I wouldn't recommend to blind buy this perfume, try it on skin first.

Nuitdenoel

I could not smell the edt at all, so I tried the edp. I love gardenia, which is the top note for me, and it is beautifully well done. It dries down to a clean (oakmoss) soapy (in a good way, think Ivory scent) with white florals. The gardenia edge remains throughout, on my skin. I am not smelling any fruits. This is not sweet nor bitter in my skin, just clean, polished, classical.

Jmalone84

This smells fresh, peppery and woodsy to me? Not sweet? It's really quite refreshing and am considering purchasing...

stephdray

La Panthere pulls off a MIRACLE by reproducing an authentic-smelling chypre using only modern ingredients not banned by IFRA. It's powerful, and retro, evoking a strong memory of flipping through old fashion magazines and getting whiffs of those perfume strips.

Unfortunately, it doesn't recall any one old school chypre to mind, but all of them. @DulciusExAsperis, a reviewer before me, describes it as the melange of "a fancy ladies' coatroom at a nice restaurant - the mixed scent of all the perfumes wafting from the coats as they warm up from the cold winter air."

And that seems right on the nose.

It becomes more noxious over time. It also veers slightly towards the masculine for me. I deeply appreciate the artistry of this scent, but its not for me.

taureanrage69

La Panthere is my favorite new chypre of the past 5 or so years and is turning me into a fan of Cartier and Mathilde Laurent. I started out with a sample of La Panthere, having never heard of it before and not knowing a thing about it. It got my attention immediately in a good way so I looked it up and realized it has oakmoss, which I enjoy from so many of my vintage perfumes, different in a modern perfume but still very close to what I smelled in my vintage favorites. I also enjoy the leather in this one, while in several other perfumes it can turn me off. Gardenia is prominent in the pyramid and unique/pleasant in this perfume. I love how this has a vintage type of style but doesn't seem too mature or dated. It lasts a moderate to long time and sillage is noticeable without being beastly. Highly recommended if you enjoy floral chypres.

lmwimsatt

Wow I used to have this and it smells much better than I remember! I coundbt even believe it was the same perfume

efox

I am obsessed with this one. It has been my favourite out of all the La Panthere line. On me it is musky and spicy and a little woodsy. Wearable for any occasion, day, night, office, any season… Totally worth as a signature scent. Absolute classic, you will not smell like another 90 females around you, always gets compliments. It is also a good starter if you are trying to get into classics but are somewhat intimidated by them. My only - but massive - issue is with the projection and longevity. On me, it has no staying power and I have to shower myself with it. I have tried all the Pantheres in the line (they were all from different reputable stores) and I also use the body lotion. Can anyone recommend a dupe or as close as possible alternative?

woodlandwalk

The first 'proper' perfume, I wore in my late teens was Magie Noire by Lancome, and I'll reveal my age now by saying that was back in the 80s!

Anyway, the oakmoss in this is very Magie Noire-esque, which put me off a bit at first since I don't want to go backwards in perfume tastes. But! It develops into a smooth, smooth, creamy floral, once the fruitines has toned down. The oakmoss has a low-key crackling glow and it does its oakmoss thing of making this feel sophisticated - a dress-up lady-like perfume.

The florals are waxy, a little bit 'doll's head plasticy' perhaps? in a nice way.

Of the fruits mentioned I'm noticing rhubarb for its tartness, and in its tart smoothness this reminds me a little of Loewe's 'Aura', though oakmoss takes it in a totally different direction.

Panthere is absolutely a modern chypre for sure with its oakmossy fruity/creamy take on the style, but what's refreshing here is that the chypre isn't patchouli, which I'm heartily sick of.

I didn't think this perfume would grow on me but it has, it's one of those where you forget about it then notice a lovely aroma wafting around and realise it's yourself.

And it's by Mathilde Laurent who created the beautiful Baiser Vole. This is obviously a very different style, but it's not particularly feral. Having said that though, I'd say this is a perfume of the night - for an elegant little black dress.

If you feel nostalgic for those darkly glamorous mysterious perfumes of the 80's, but updated, this should please you. It'll please younger people too with the tart fruity/creaminess.

Sillage - medium, longevity a good 5 hours plus, and it gets nicer and nicer into dry-down - always a mark of decent quality perfume. Big like!

ntabassum92

It's so interesting how tastes can change from one extreme to another. I hated this fragrance so much the first time I tried it that I sold my sample off - I couldn't stand to even test this more than one time. I recently received a free sample of this again (about 4 years later) and have been scared to try it, knowing I didn't like it. I don't understand how this is possible, but I love it now.

This is a beautiful modern musky chypre. It has those delicious tart juicy fruits in the top, but the star for me is the musky gardenia. It really reminds me of the gardenia in Narciso - just by how musky and almost sour it is. This perfume is not very sweet, which is such an interesting change from other modern perfumes - I feel like every perfume we have, whether fresh, floral, aquatic (and of course gourmand) is hit with an overdose of sweetness (which I confess I usually enjoy) kind of like our overly sweet desserts. What sweetness does come out of this perfume emerges slowly, like a panther ;) It's a sweet grass smell that creeps over the shining, sparkling gardenias. The perfume smells by turns both natural and unnatural - the tartness draws you back and keeps reminding you that this is perfume, not just a lazy summer day lounging on a grassy expanse.

I've smelled this in the air around two other women - and this perfume just smells so different. You can recognize that it's perfume, but it feels both old and new - old world because of the characteristic sparkling perfume smell (the tartness) but also bracingly modern (the musk.) I highly respect this one :)

Haha, I found my original review :p -> It's okay...it reminds me a lot of Nebras by Al-Rehab, just more sour. I don't really like the fruity tones in this type of fragrance, they make me feel a bit nauseous. It's not a bad fragrance, as it dries down it gets more tolerable. I wish I got more gardenia, instead I get a ton of rhubarb, sour dried fruit, and strawberry mixed with oakmoss. As I said, the oakmoss helps it smell nicer as it wears down, but it's still a meh for me...

elmccullar

This perfume is very far from what I typically gravitate towards (I'm mostly a floral/fruity/sweet girl), but it’s so incredibly beautiful!!! What a surprise! The opening is a bit harsh, but after a few minutes, it turns into the smoothest, most beautiful, slightly powdery, slightly fruity, elegant masterpiece. I can’t get enough! There is an old school vibe to it, but it feels modern at the same time... if that makes any sense. Very classy, elegant, lady-in-a-business suit type scent. Love it!

redskyatnight

My first encounter with the La Panthere line was with Legere, and it stood out cleanly from among other modern offerings as a fine creation. Now I have tried the original, and it is simply deeper and more rounded out (Legere is more creamy florals). If oakmoss scares you, this is a tame introduction. It's been almost sterilized, whether that is a good or bad thing depends on the nose. It's still austere but not scary or gag-inducing as oakmoss can be to people who are not used to it. Since I have a hard time with the note, Bottega Veneta being the only other way I can enjoy oakmoss, I'm very surprised I enjoy this. It's a new classic for sure. The strawberry is very light, not of the sticky syrupy fresh variety, but tempered by the rhubarb and blended with other dried fruits to give a soft feminine touch. The florals are not overwhelming. In fact, I took so long to try this because gardenia typically gives me a headache. Here it does not. The leather and patchouli rest in the background to lend a pensive mood to the perfume. It is indeed a tiny bit animalic but softly so, like a panther not on the prowl but resting in a tree. The bottle is exceedingly beautiful and sturdy. All around La Panthere is such a work of fine art.

pamelalasalle110

First off, I am on a never ending search for a leathery, rosey, patch or incense based fragrance. I have dozens. This one is nice, but still not what I was looking for. I take that back, it's really nice and the musky, mossy dry down lasts long. I sniffed away for at least a half hour before I could really find the leather note. Patchouli and Musk play the main roles in this perfume, that and the hard to find Gardenia, they blend perfectly. This in itself is a feat that was mastered. I usually find musks to musky and patchouli... well you know the smell of someone who hasn't bathed, except for the patch field they rolled around in, LOL. I loose the fruity notes after the first hour or so, which doesn't bother me at all, What I am struggling with is the rosey note, where is it??? Perhaps combining the Gardenia with it lends a hand in taming the sometimes medicinal and overwhelming scented flower. I also ordered the Legree in a largest size, I hope the leather and rose will be more prominent, but if not, I'm sure I'll enjoy it too. I absolutely adore the HEFT and beauty of this bottle as well. Le Panthere definitely has a friendly elegance that can be worn anytime of day or year, especially for all of you musk lovers. This is dreamy. If anyone can recommend what I'm looking for in a fragrance, I'm open to suggestions. I feel I've tried everything, LOL.
Under 80 USD please.
-----5 mins later----- I Just purchased the Soir edition.

addiehominem

Woah, like other commenters here, this isn't what I was expecting, in a good way. The opening for me was a blast of skanky oakmoss that made me wince, but it almost immediately took a 180 to something fruity, floral, and smooth.

I was trying to guess what the notes were before checking and thought it had a white floral in it, but I wouldn't have guessed gardenia because the floral aspect isn't indolic or heavy at all, just sweet and fresh and smooth. The fruits dominate on my skin and they are definitively red and juicy.

I'm pretty particular about retro-style scents these days, but this one is a winner. I think if you're afraid of that category of perfumes but are curious about it, you should smell this one. That said, it's a mature fragrance, and I agree with the reviewer that mentioned it being most appropriate on the over 35 crowd.

EDIT: Unfortunately I can't get over all the oakmoss present in this fragrance. It's not BAM in-your-face, but it lingers enough to sort of "spoil" the rest of the loveliness happening. I like this fragrance a lot, but wouldn't purchase a full bottle.

eamaccready

A beautifully blended mix of old and new. It's a bit retro with the gardenia, oakmoss, and musky base, but has that synthetic fruits/rhubarb note that blends with it making it seem very modern too, but not a standard fruitchouli. I just have to mention the blending again because this could have been so bad. Gardenia (and really most white florals)can go weird on me, as well as fruity notes and musk, but this works great. Fairly well behaved, despite the name, but not boring either. Very nice on rainy spring or fall days, IMO.

andili

I assumed the worst for this perfume only to be pleasantly surprised. Things that scared me away: Oakmoss, fruity and sweet; people mentioning it smells old school/vintage. My thoughts were, this probably smell like those Aldehyde powerhouse perfumes like Arome Elixir, Chanel No5 - Boucheron, Arpege by Lanvin.
Fast forward to this year, I swapped out Boucheron and received a sample of La Panthere (in addition to the swap and many other samples). I was bracing myself for overpowering animalic smell, you know - like a sweaty civet, I mean it is called La Panthere after all, right? First spray, I'm in disbelief, it smells AMAZING! My kind of old school :). It is pretty strong but the soft powdery-ness tones it down, and in this case the oakmoss works. I have come across it at Costco many times, guess it is time for me to buy the full bottle.

Jacquis

This is a beautiful floral chypre fragrance however, it is VERY strong. You might want to be very light on the trigger. It sticks to my skin, my nose, my tongue, my throat like no other. The performance is monstrous and others will smell you coming and going. YOU will smell you coming and going. I'm not sure if the compliments I receive are just "fact finding" to make sure they never buy this perfume because this is a statement fragrance. You will get compliments and draw conversation.

La Panthere is an appropriate name or even, "La Cougar", because it can eat you alive! I respect that such a modern fragrance can still command this power. I would not wear this in a closed room. It needs ventilation. Strictly for outdoors, probably evenings on the town or on a patio. Not work safe! Though I love and respect it, it can be headache inducing. Appropriate for any season. This panther will cut through heat, cold and glass. I would recommend this fragrance for a strong, bold and dominant person because La Panthere will flog you.

rjbfair

I have received so many compliments when I wear this perfume. It is my favorite fragrance right now. I like to layer it with the lotion first and then the spray. Luscious!!
