Le Baiser Du Dragon by Cartier is a Amber Woody fragrance for women. Le Baiser Du Dragon was launched in 2003. The nose behind this fragrance is Alberto Morillas. Top notes are Amaretto, Bitter Almond, Gardenia and Neroli; middle notes are Cedar, Iris, Musk, Jasmine and Rose; base notes are Vetiver, Patchouli, Benzoin, Amber, Cedar, Dark Chocolate and Caramel.

Cartier’s Baiser du Dragon (the Dragon’s Kiss) is a dangerous and powerful scent. Exotic and intense, it will transport you into the world of fairytale dragons, princesses and princes. You can hear the burning of the dragon’s fiery breath while bitter smoke envelopes you and your sense, but then, suddenly, this gentle warmth settles on the skin. Warm, woody notes are perfectly harmonized with bitter almond, floral notes and citruses. Top notes include bitter almond, neroli, orange and gardenia. Cedar and musk are at the perfume’s heart, while the base note is composed of vetiver, patchouli and benzoin resin. It was created by Alberto Morillas in 2003.

I have had a bottle for a few years and thought I was anosmic to it, and I was writing this review to say I want to sell it- I sprayed this on the back of both hands just to test it again as I was writing.
It's been a few minutes, I wasn't loving the opening, and I wasn't getting any of the big smoky spicy booziness that I wanted. Then I lifted my hand to my nose to try it again and said out loud "oh, there it is."

I get it now. The powdery opening isn't my favorite, but it mellows out (and dries out) and starts to give way to a lovely, mature, sexy spiciness. The almond and woodsy notes blend beautifully. It's currently spring and this scent is not working for me at this time of the year but I think I'll really come around to it in the fall. I also want to try it in the summer like some reviewers have mentioned, because this doesn't project very much on me and I can see this being a beautiful skin scent on a hot, dry day.

Looking to sell this gem. First edition 50 ml Eau de Parfum of Le Baiser Du Dragon from Cartier, with the red colour text and silver plate on the cap. Only missing a couple of ml's. Juice is in great condition, yummy as ever and a great performer. Price is 120€. I will split the shipping cost with you. PM me if interested :)

Why I had always thought that it was a freaking heavy fragrance so never even attempted to try it for all these years, and why oh why, have I just decided to try it by decanting only to find out that, 1. it's going straight into "my favourite perfumes EVER" shelf, and 2. it's discontinued.

This is clearly Cinéma's (ANOTHER masterpiece that is discontinued lately) identical twin; while Cinéma is the art historian and a popular lecturer at a prestigious university, Le Baiser Du Dragon is the cybersecurity expert and since she's in a male-dominated field, goes straight for the kill at work but otherwise she's just the sweetest friend you could ever have.

I purchased a 1.7 oz vintage bottle from 2003. (Batch Code 3GBC Ornate carved cap)
It’s a beautiful, elevated, bone dry woody amber fragrance.
It’s interesting because to my nose LBDD develops in reverse.
It seems the base notes are in the opening: I experience bitter dry chocolate and earthy vetiver. It’s a bit powdery after a minute but I don’t detect any almonds or amaretto liquor. There is zero sweetness in the opening.
It does sweeten up as it warms on my skin but it’s a “no sugar added” type of sweetness.
The florals are really downplayed except for the rose- that’s when I start to smell similarities to Dior’s Ambre Nuit.
My skin seems to amplify the amber and rose in LBDD.
When I smelled it next to Ambre Nuit, I can smell just how sweet AN is compared to the unsweetened LBDD.
This fragrance is so well balanced, nuanced and complex that LBDD takes you on an journey.
Don’t look at the notes and think you’re getting a boozy amaretto, chocolate covered caramel candy. I believe those notes are just softening some sharp edges from the drier, woody notes.

LBDD has amazing projection for 3-4 hours then becomes more intimate and when I woke up the next day (I wore it to sleep) it was still on my skin and only then did I smell anything resembling almonds.
I could smell almonds and musk but it’s still not gourmand to my nose.
Definitely unisex ( some women used to fruity florals and gourmands might find this masculine)
I adore woody ambers, balsams and resins so this is beautiful to me.
The bottle is stunning!
I’m definitely going to get my nose on the Parfum.

I wear this when I want to feel elevated, classy and confident. This must really work well with my body chemistry because I get compliments when I wear it. I love this scent from start to finish

ANNAFRYS

One of the prettiest perfumes.
It has energizing components anytime I sniff it its energy booster.
I don't know what ingrediens is responsible but its gives arousal.
My friend told me about it - anytime she sprays her husband is ready ... and she also.
Well I didn't believe her, so I got it and indeed...she was right.

I talk about formula I got 10 years ago in Skokie Bloomingdale.

Alberto Morillas what have you add to the bottle to have a liquid sensual arousal?

Formula is so exotic and original I want a new flanker.

SadieBluesLady

The age of your bottle of this perfume makes a HUGE difference!! Unfortunately Cartier gutted it with reformulation when they brought it back and the newer bottles contain very weak and diluted scent. One way to differentiate between vintage and reformulation is the bottle cap - the new ones are smooth and the old ones are incised.

Kinga_

Based on the notes it seemed dreamy, but it is dry and sour. I suspect it's the neroli and cedar that didn't blend well with almonds and amaretto.

Almonds are only perceptible in drydown.

cgaleb

This has a strong opening but once it dries down, it is quite lovely. I could smell the florals, spices, woodiness, and hints of musk. I did not get great longevity on my skin, only a few hours tops. However, it performed very well on clothes, and could be smelled 8 hours later. This perfume has a special place for me, as a relative newbie to perfume, I came across a sample of this. Le Baiser du Dragon is THE perfume that helped me branch out of the floral fruity aquatics stage when I realized I could enjoy and even like a scent profile as different as this. Now that I’ve had time to learn and for my nose to become more sophisticated, I need to resample this perfume, as I’m sure I would appreciate it much more now than I did at the beginning of my scent journey.

Apotheosis

Gather 'round and prepare to be enchanted by the magnificent aroma that is Le Baiser Du Dragon by Cartier. Let me regale you with tales of its splendour, though I must confess, it may be a tad too sophisticated for the average folk who fail to grasp its intricate allure and sheer magnificence. Alas, it faced a daunting hurdle in its journey to glory—the initial whiff was somewhat unfamiliar and failed to please the senses, which, in today's fast-paced society, is akin to committing a cardinal sin, for instant gratification reigns supreme.

Oh, if only my pockets were lined with abundance, I would seize the opportunity to acquire the exclusive rights to this exceptional fragrance. For in its captivating essence lies a symphony of scents that only the discerning connoisseurs can fully appreciate.

Jacquis

Over a few years, Cartier Le Baiser Du Dragon has turned into my summertime spicy, boozy vetiver. It is so exotic and rich but dry, dry, dry. Perfect for my hot, humid summer days or nights. No other season works as magically for me. Gorgeous and unique.

How I love this mystical liquid. Dragon's spirit that smells like bitter memories, soapy flowers and poison almonds...this has always been mine and now I'm on my last bottle... What a shame Cartier! Without Orto Parisi Seminalis, I wouldn't be able to do this. Don't think the scent is the same. No, but almonds. I can't choose my favorite poison from either. And I love Almonds.

mevans

This checks all the boxes for me. It's a little old school, potent, warm spicy, earthy and sweet. If you're into Shalimar, Opium (not black), those kinds, this will be your jam. Its a classy kind of sexy but definitely sexy! It's got that little bit of masculinity that pushes it that direction with all the spice and wood notes, and it doesn't rely on florals very much. I'm keeping my eye out for a back up bottle since it's discontinued. It's not the cheapest but oh so worth every penny.

Fragaddict123

It is a fragrance that start’s impressive but ends mediocre
The opening is full of creaminess and it pumps around you beautifully
I enjoyed it for around 3 to 4 hours then it became something less interesting
I think the only way I can enjoy this is to use it if I have a small errand then get back home and throw my clothes in the laundry basket
Performance is good

Something is so very magical and enticing about this perfume, I feel very lucky to have gotten a bottle, thinking that it has been discontinued.
Very nutty and almond liquor heavy, but not boozy enough that it leans masculine. It is very oriental and mystical, the way it changes throughout the wear is almost addictive.
Not too sure if it is a safe blind buy, but if you ever have the luck of trying before buying this, take advantage of it. Very beautiful and unique scent.

Таня_х

I forgot how much I love this. I got my bottle some 2-3 years ago and for as crazy as it might seem, I always preferred wearing it in warmer weather. Two sprays on the neck last all day and project just right, without being heavy at all.
I find it to be heavier and stronger in winter and almost airy when it’s warmer…
It might be skin chemistry or it might be my obnoxious persona. Who knows?!
Either way, I’m sure it suits me well.
It’s a seductive, grown up scent. It has that remarkable Cartier quality and that’s no surprise considering it’s also one of Mr Morillas’ creations.
It starts a little bitter, with the amaretto note being the most prominent, and although you can feel the floral notes from the very beginning, they feel greener and not sweet/ jammy.
I can feel a beautiful gardenia note, one of my favorite flowers, but it is not the gardenia you’d find in La Panthere, another masterpiece from the house of Cartier, but rather a laid back gardenia, in a supporting role - mixed beautifully and “rounding” some of the more prominent woody and earthy notes.
After the louder beginning, it soon settles into a slightly boozy, mysterious oriental - you feel woods, almonds, amber and… finally some delicate gourmand touches, specially up close and not so much in the air.
The best thing about it - and also the reason I think it is a grown up scent - the sweetness is really toned down, setting it apart from the banality of nowadays designer offerings.
Extremely unique, sultry scent, well worth its price.
Thank you Alberto Morillas and Cartier for this masterpiece!

JCFranklin81

Got for my girlfriend. Beautiful, brilliant. I thought I sensed some orchid in the middle, too? And perhaps opium. It surely does transport you to a land of fantasy. Sexy, alluring, yet playful... Magical... Like pulling a sword from the stone. I'd like to see (smell) a masculine interpretation/mate to this. Renaissance chic? Royal.

The Great fragrance ever!!! Discontinued unfortunately..I use it for very special occasion cause i cant find it any more. Why do they discontinue pearls like this?? I dont get it !

meama

the actual formulation is really a shame...it was so good

Ferra_Verto

Spicy boozy, the liqueur aspect is so strong but surprisingly not off-putting in the least. Wafts of powder and vetiver cut through, keeping the scent engaging and multi-dimensional.
Perfect for cold weather, this would be so obnoxious in the heat lol.
Intense sillage and very long-lasting, but there's still something very intimate about this scent that makes you want to lean in all the more, even as it's sitting right on top of you.
Wonderful offering.

ioanaszmeu

This perfume surprised me. I try to predict how a perfume smells like by looking at the notes here on fragrantica, but this one is much more floral than I anticipated. Which is a good thing since I like florals a lot. But i was expecting something more gourmand! It has gourmand facets though, especially in the late drydown. But if you're expecting a full blown sweet dessert type of smell, this is not it. It is not excessively sweet either, something which I find refreshing. The market is hypersaturated with sugary sweet concoctions(la belle, si intense, LVEB etc) so this may not be the most trendy perfume out there, but it's quite interesting and unique. Some people might find it dated or mature, but I don't think it is. It's very elegant and luxurious.
Anyway, at first it starts very boozy floral. Think flowers dipped in amaretto. Then it dries down to a dark woody boozy oriental with gourmand touches. Subtle powdery notes. This can definitely be unisex. I imagine an Oscar Wilde type of guy wearing this.
If you enjoy stuff like Jazz Club, Angel's Share, Hypnotic Poison or Alien Essence Absolue, you would probably enjoy this too.

gilliansochoa

I originally bought a .25oz tester and within days purchased the full size- I immediately understood why Le Baiser du Dragon had such a cult following. The opening is filled with confident, tantalizing almond and amaretto notes that just envelop the senses, and the dry down blooms into a dark, mystery-filled floriental. While I definitely pick up on the chocolate and caramel notes as the scent wears on, these notes don't really translate as a gourmand, and instead add to the sweet darkness of this fragrance
This fragrance lasts all day on me, however, my only complaint is that the sillage isn't very strong.
I find this scent to be incredibly seductive and mysterious on me, however, I can see how this may translate as a grandma scent on someone else's skin. This scent does seem a little mature, but on the right skin with the right presence, I think it can be totally stylish and sexy on a young adult. If you can, try to get a tester before you purchase a full size- there are quite a few .25oz bottles circulating alongside the full sized ones.

Very complex, captivating boozy almond-amber-vetiver floriental which opens with a lot almonds and amaretto with green facets, must be the neroli, too. In the middle stage the jasmine, iris and rose round out the composition, giving way to a delicious base of benzoin, amber, dark chocolate and a hint of patchouli. The vetiver keeps it from getting too sweet. It’s unique and of amazing quality, I haven’t encountered anything similar.

It lasts the entire day, with medium sillage, softer towards the end. It retains the french elegance of the house, and isn’t a powerhouse, despite the name.

It’s discontinued, but still circulating. There are two versions which you can recognize by the cap. The original release had silver plating on the cap, the second has a black smooth lacquered cap. Allegedly the first release is the deepest and richest.

I have the first and I love it! Highly recommended.

Mariamaija Amélie

This Dragon's kiss isn't as deep, passionate and thrilling as I clearly remember it to be several years ago, but the essence of this perfume is still unigue and very beautiful despite the weakened state of it. I just don't understand why they do this to these amazing and outstanding gems; this ...castration of something so mysterious, captivating, memorable and impactful. But! I have it in my collection, again, after all these years, and I cherish it and love wearing it. Unique oriental, almondy, earthy, spicy, powdery sweetness.

Sinologist

Cafe amaretto and brandy in a cup with a floral accent on top, placed next to a decadent tray of dark chocolates. Le Baiser Du Dragon by Cartier is one of my top 5 fragrances and my first choice for an autumn scent. It's an elegant and powerful parfum which is equally pleasing from the initial spray through to the dry down phase. The intoxicating scent just lingers and it's so pretty. This fragrance made a recent comeback and is now available again in the fine department stores. I was so happy to purchase another beautiful bottle. My only sadness is that I don't have a bottle with the original Chinese cuttings on the bottle top. I love this scent so much!

Babblecat

Wow, Baiser du Dragon is a complicated beauty. I bought this to console myself after I traded away my bottle of Baiser Vole, which I loved but couldn't keep because it reminded me too much of my ex. I'm still getting to know this dragon--I've never smelled anything like this before. The strong bitter almond was a little confusing to me at first. It softened over the space of a couple of hours, and mellowed into a sweeter almond. I'm also getting a ton of rose, which I wasn't expecting. Rose isn't always great on me, but I really like it in this combination. As it continues to evolve, I'm also getting the vetiver more and more. After reading reviews I thought this would have big projection, but it actually seems pretty intimate. I was kind of worried that this would be too opulent to wear to work, since I don't have many occasions to wear showstoppers. I think this is perfect for work, though, especially once the bitterness fades and the florals and greens start to emerge. This is nowhere near as spicy as I thought it would be, and much softer and prettier. It seems like this is a fragrance that's really different on different bodies. Now that I've had it on for a few hours, I'm excited to see where it goes next. Really a fascinating fragrance.

Update after a few weeks of owning/wearing this masterpiece: this is the only fragrance that has ever actually woken me up in the night with its beauty. I wore it to bed and woke up in the middle of the night just absolutely feeling like I was in heaven. Also, this is the only fragrance I have ever bought a backup bottle of. I noticed that it's not on the Cartier website anymore, and I'm worried that it has been discontinued.

echurch1979

This had amazing impact before I even smelled the first spray of misty cedar and almond nectar that awaited. The bottle is, in a word, stunning! The heavy circular glass is naturally clasped by the hand, like grasping an ancient amulet. Even the spray tube looks absolutely intentional. The first spray is released as a soft mist, encircling you without noticeably wetting the skin. This is also purposeful design, for the perfume itself is enormous and eternal! Be gentle with this dragon, until you can fully expect how strong a kiss it possesses. The notes that seem to dominate the opening are almond, amber, and Benzoin, reminiscent of Amber Gold, and a touch of Exotic Essence. At first, I shrugged slightly. But then it happened. The heart moved in, taking turns with the base notes, and setting forth an amazing, powdery soft dry down. Its simply fantastic! It feels cozy and comforting, without any one chord dominating. Instead, and I know this sounds contradictory, for all its strength, the dry down shows deft restraint and subtlety. It's in this quiet time, floral notes come forth. This is a perfume that not only performs, it evolves and transcends, and reminds me of the nuance changes traveling as a child through the southwest. The desert constantly changing around us, and yet, the feeling like all was connected - the same shifting fragrances, warmed and awakened by the sun.

CCClydes

Had this scent on my “must buy” list for quite awhile. Finally scored a small spray bottle and it arrived today. Based on reviews I thought it would have more “oomph” but despite the lack of power it’s a lovely scent and exactly the notes I’d hoped for. It’s warm and woody with just the right amount of floral to be feminine but I could see the right guy making it work as well. Only complaint is I wish it had more sillage. I’m not disappointed at all. It’s beautiful.

The Wolf

Bought this for my wife but it's not too feminine for a man to wear.
Nice scent. The amaretto is really nice but not overly boozy. Aside from amaretto I get patchouli, vetiver, benzoin, iris and amber/caramel on the drydown. Not much almond unfortunately.

Projection and longevity are good.
I smell more Rose on my wife's skin.
Overall a well composed fragrance.

Scent 6/10

I got my hands on a few samples of the older juice on eBay and it’s very, very interesting. It’s warm, syrupy, almost like a spicy amaretto. Not something I would wear, but the heat and sweet/spiciness is very appealing, especially in the colder months.

ObsessedJoydjay

You might also like Prada Tendre/Prada Amber Femme.
I also have Armani Sensi but they're not that similar with far different characters.

The scent feels unisex and can easily be worn by men.

GabrielleeeeeW

This is a strong, in your face, heavy, confident, powerful fragrance, not for the faint of heart. It's not gourmand in the least as the almond is surrounded by incensey type notes and boozy amaretto. It smells a bit vintage or old school but I like it overall, definitely unisex, but still feminine leaning. A really unique and beautiful fragrance.

Dwallyfritz

A classic feminine fragrance. The opening is white floral, spicy, and green. As it dries, it softens. Powdery iris peeks out behind the white floral while soft sweetness replaces the green spice. Im not getting much wood, which is disappointing since cedar is in the middle and base notes. The amber and chocolate are barely present on my skin- nothing gourmand here for me. A sweet, slightly resinous, floral finish with a powdery green touch that reminds me of French milled soap and something herbal. A clean frag with moderate projection and great sillage. One spray on the back of my wrist lasted all day. Not a casual wear- this one needs a special occasion. Think Chanel type occasion. Overall, I'm happy to have this in my collection since it is so different but just as classy. I was tempted to put this in the "dated" category at first- that powdery iris really hits hard on me- but the longer i wear it, the more I enjoy it.

chinna

How can I start to said this... So many years waiting for this bottle and now I have it in my hand ...And this is not what I was expecting ,a bitter almond master piece, a replacement for HP Dior.
I percieve a lot of white musk, something like menthol, a masculin type of woods , some warming little sweetness . And a reminiscence of Pi Givenchy, a masculine La panther Cartier , or Narciso Rodriguez for Her mixed with Midnight Poison Dior.
That's my first impression. Maybe with time I learn to appreciate this piece, and also I find all that many notes. But now I want my bitter almonds.

kristylynn

Does anybody else smell NR for her in the drydown?

liat

Ten minutes after initial spray, which is sharp and a little offensive, it mellows into a soapy scent. Plain, old fashioned, high end, wonderful soap. Love 🤩

Lizabs68

Lovely and one of the best!

Ladymom59

Discovering this perfume was like a gift, but wearing it is a wonderful thing. It's a privilege. I believe this fragrance came straight from the fantasy world where no one is surprised when a dragon with golden scales and sparkling red eyes appears, dancing majestically in the air followed by thousands of bright and beautiful creatures, never seen before in our world. Simply impressive ... I could not describe the feast of my senses when I use this classic among the classics. And the name, oh my! Can you imagine the power and mystery that a dragon's kiss would have? It is strong, but also very delicate, and at the same time voluptuous and innocent ... it is a pure and perfect controversy that lasts all day. It is a miracle turned into a perfume.

moderndandy_swap

First time I tried it I smelled mostly VERY heavy (almost cloying) amber, amaretto and almond. Today I decided to try it again, and I mostly get gardenia and some subtle green almond, and it is bizarrely similar to Serge Lutens Datura Noir, but with gardenia instead of a tuberose. What happened???

CaliBlonde

I recently purchased a new bottle from Macy’s; not sure if there’s a difference compared to older batches.
When I first spray this it smells like Chanel No 5 (they have a lot of the same notes). After a few moments it transforms into an exotic take on the classic.
I’m transported to a Buddhist temple in the mountains. Or I feel as if I’ve just entered an incense shop: none currently burning, just the smell of many boxes of different scented incense stacked on shelves in a room where many have been burned. If this is a dragon it’s definitely an eastern one coiled in some ancient temple. Spicy/woody. I love it.
Decent performance. I don’t feel it’s super strong or overpowering. Unisex, but leans feminine.

mhdavis

Pleasant but not my style. It smells like an expensive face cream. None of the notes really jump out to me other than the almond and musk. Reminds me a lot of the hand soap in an Italian Airbnb I stayed in a couple of years ago so I appreciate it for evoking those memories. Powdery, almost soapy (not necessarily the smell of soap, just what a soap might be fragranced with) mature, not sweet, nice smelling but not something I’ll likely reach for as a perfume. It’ll probably end up being a room spray for now.

O`Hara

This one is for a huntress. Powerful but sophisticated, it is bitter and very potent. If your skin can pull off the alcohol note in it, go for it. It is indeed like a kiss - from a femme fatale. With no mercy and sweetness.

Definitely a winter scent. Would kill a dragon during summer time.

mimircks

WOW! Pure fantasy vibes. Exotic - as in Far East AND Middle East. I'm currently rewatching VIKINGS, they are on the Silk Road & Le Baiser du Dragon has completely transported me there & I'm here for it! WILD opening of almond-patchouli & AMBER. Oh. My. This is a night out in your (tasteful!) sequins or date-night IN stuff that just FEEDS me. Le Baiser is beyond sensual and solely to ...seduce. WHEW! That's enough of THAT!

Agia77

Smell of pure myrrh for me. Love it.

Madyana

When I got this, I didn’t smell it all at first! The same thing happened with Marc Jacobs Decadence. Apparently I was anosmic to a strong vetiver before I learned to smell it. I don’t know if that’s common, but if you don’t think at this is strong scent will give your nose time!
For me, this has become mayby most fascinating scents I have ever smelled...This is a drug scent. Like a syanid for suicide prone. Mayby you don't like it, but You just need it!

IceAnge1

If you're a sweet scent lover, this is not for you.
I personally love all the notes in the is fragrance, but did not enjoy the scent at all. The first spray is very potent, and after maybe 20 minutes it gets super powdery on my skin. Almost like I just doused myself in straight baby powder. My husband said it smells like baby wipes.
Now I don't mind powdery scents IF it's paired with something sweet. I love Kenzo Flower which to me is a sweet powdery dry down, but this one lacks the sweetness that I love. I don't know, maybe it's the child inside me.
If you don't like sweet scents though, maybe you will love this. =]

Flame Maiden

This was a blind buy for me from recommendations on youtube fragrance content creators. I thought it sounded like I would love it and I DO!!! OMG this may just be the signature scent I have been looking for. Love at first spray. It is straight off the bat, sexy, warm, not too dirty or musky, not heavy floral, just a lovely steady beautiful fragrance. It really is superb. Day/night, warm or cool weather, I can see me wearing this for all occasions. I just can't say enough good things about this. Highly recommend.

tandem_4x4

I bought my bottle from a collector and assume it is pretty early batch. I was wearing it without looking in the notes. I was feeling a hazelnut nuttiness. Now I realize it meant to be a bitter almond. Very beautiful and it is hard to say if anything else smells like this. Woods, vetiver and patchouli add a fantastic frame for the almonds. I am wearing it in the cool windy rainy morning - such a match. It warms you up without being sticky or thick.

Grab it before it will be discontinued - I assume it will, as it is a such deviation from the mainstream scents.

EDIT: my bottle with silver Chinese symbol on the top. And yes, it is complete unisex

bug.juice.184

I have a batch from 2017. This perfume would be a masterpiece for me with white florals removed, and with woodsy and spicy notes enriched, than the composition would be moved to a chypre sphere. There is one especially unpleasent note for me, the smell of decaying white flowers in a vase with a filthy water at the bottom. Pity, some components are really good, but this ruins it.

This is a beautiful scent. I love Cartier. I had a sample first and then bought the biggest bottle I could find. Wow, am I happy to have found this one.

Jacquis

Baiser du Dragon is a spicy, elegant, dry vetiver on my skin. It is gorgeous and unique with no sweetness. I almost sense a borderline chypre. This perfume is perfect in the fall when I can enjoy all the spices without the sweetness of most gourmands. Oxygene gives me the unique summer scent and Baiser du Dragon does the same for the fall.

frusia

I have to review this again, because it's October and it's been raining for quite a while. And also because Cartier has kindly started selling the Dragon's kiss again. Lots of love Cartier!

Think of sitting in front of a fireplace on a cold autumn evening. A hot cup of aromatic chai tea in your hand and you're listening to someone telling a story. He is a good storyteller and his full of fantastic creatures story is about the hidden magic of life.

alphairone

Another fragrance that is easily unisex although marketed to women, Le Baiser Du Dragon is sensuous, luscious, and warm. As the sun entered my window (and I awaited my landlord's installation of proper blinds today) its heat really lent a radiance to the opening, all redolent with the beloved bittersweet digestif Amaretto and white florals. Perfect for an October morning. Other's may gripe about the opening's sharpness, but I find this stimulating in fragrances, go figure.

As the top notes settle, there is a crossfade into the very oriental heart of the scent, rich with cedar, rose, and ultra dark chocolate blended with caramel. The sweetness is tempered so that it in no way veers into gourmand territory. This is full on balsamic oriental.

For some reason, my skin really brings out vetiver early on in any fragrance that has it, and this is no exception. The base is full on vetiver on my skin with patchouli and lingering sweetness extended through a benzoin/amber accord. So nice.

Another winner for autumn comfort. Thumbs up.

DecoElegance

I just purchased this again after not having a bottle for nearly eight years. I had forgotten what it actually smelled like, but I remembered liking it, and I think I know why.

On my skin, it's warm without being sweet. I love dry woody and chypre fragrances. Most days of the week, I just wear Patchouli or Vetiver essential oil. When I branch out from smelling like earth (especially during the fall and winter), I like to go woody oriental... but sometimes these kinds of fragrances can be just a bit too sweet for my tastes.

With this fragrance, I get a distinct sharpness in the beginning. It's green (definitely Vetiver-y) and a little bitter- not sour, just bitter... like cacao powder almost. As others have observed, it's "loud." But not like "takes up the whole room" loud... more like, "I wasn't expecting that" loud.

After a few minutes, it starts to mellow into a hazy, slightly boozy, resinous cloud, behind which a certain sharp, spiciness remains. Every now and again, I definitely get the iris, but I don't really smell too many other flowers... well, maybe neroli if I put my nose right against my skin. Regardless, it's really beautiful.

I can't say that it smells like too many other things I wear or have worn... though I would definitely say that it feels (though certainly doesn't smell) very much like some other fragrances that came out in the early aughts... I keep it next to Mugler Alien and Kenzo Flower Le Parfum.

In terms of sillage, I give it a 5-6/10. For longevity, I would rate it at about 8-9/10 (it lasts but gets closer to the skin as time goes by). I think it's perfect for Fall! May I never allow eight years to go by between bottles again!

I found a full bottle of this at a really good discount price last week and decided to bring it home. Le Baiser du Dragon (The Kiss of the Dragon) is much tamer than the name suggests, but still a delight!

If this is a dragon, it's a cozy, cuddly one that will throw some sass your way from time to time. The almond-hazelnut/amaretto opening is quite strong and boozy, but quickly mellows into a warm, nutty, almost buttery accord that never gets too sweet. The patch and benzoin bring their own warmth and just a touch of background earthiness with a resinous edge (nothing too heavy, though). This could potentially become too syrupy and dense, if it weren't for the reserved vetiver and sharp cedar cutting through and adding a nice spicy-woody facet. There's a touch of indolic white florals at the tail end, but I can't tell which ones; perhaps gardenia?

On the whole, Le Baiser du Dragon is a gorgeous blend, a subdued woody oriental gourmand perfect with a sweater or cardigan in fall and winter, whether you're just curling up with a good book or out for a drink with friends (whenever that day comes again). It's also deliciously unisex. I must also note how surprised I was at the uniqueness and quality of the bottle: the Far East aesthetic is worked into every detail, the glass is heavy and well-balanced, and the cap and sprayer are quite sturdy. Well done, Cartier!

Cartier’s Baiser du Dragon (the Dragon’s Kiss)
Just have a look at these notes :Almond,Amaretto,Rose,Iris,Jasmine,Dark Chocolate,Caramel,Amber,Vetiver,Patchouli,Benzoin !!!  Only a kiss from the dragon would have this scent! This is a kind of a perfume that it is NOT a crowd pleaser. You'd either love it or you hate it. It is not something that you had smelled before but smelling this would rush loads of thoughts and emotions to your body. I giggled the first time I sniffed this perfume🤣 and I was like what the helicopter !! I went back for more and more until my wrist was hanging from my nose and I just wanted to figure out what I am experimenting ! It is warm, rounded, spicy but very dynamic and boozy. To my experience it works much better in cold weather. The colder the better.I cannot tolerate it at normal temperature but see when it's cold outside and you are going to the Christmas market to get a punch,Wearing this- is like wearing fireworks ...you will be walking firework ! completely unisex. Not a safe blind-buy . Very long lasting and above moderare projection.

This has the chocolate and vetiver of Angel Muse with the milky almond of Hypnotic Poison and an added amaretto note. Its not overly sweet. Just right. Its just simply divine. It is definitely unisex so masculine men can enjoy this as well.

bintTapputi

I think this deserves to be appreciated in the winter months, I think it would really shine. I really enjoy it, and will try to get a bottle so I can enjoy it when the weather turns cold. It's very classy and comforting. 7/10

Thanks to JC2109 classification I know my bottle is from 2004 (Batch 4BAB). I’ve been curious about this perfume for a while now, so when I saw a 1 oz bottle on eBay for a decent price I decided to get it.

I love the opening, for me it’s a juicy Amaretto. It disappears pretty fast and becomes makeup-y lipstick-y scent with domination of vetiver and iris. Reminds me of Esprit d’Oscar, but in a bit more pleasant way (I don’t like EdO).

I will have to spend some more time with this fragrance before I decide if I like it or if it would have to go to someone who loves it more...

seamagik

I'm really enjoying wearing this now it's warm. In winter I didn't love it. The chocolate stood out with the benzoin and vetiver in a sort of clashing unenjoyable way to me. I preferred the parfum which has so much complexity and was mindblowing in its changeability with every breath. I felt like I'd wasted my money getting this as well.

Now in the heat it smells so well blended. It's warm and creamy and a little bit spicy. Last summer I really enjoyed wearing Kenzo Jungle in the heat. The spices make it very dry, like being in arid heat even in humidity. I'm getting the same vibe from this. This is less spicy, less loud and softer overall.

I can smell every single ingredient. That's never happened to me before. When I close my eyes and breath in I can pick them all out and that's so fun. On the whole it smells like a woody, spicy amaretto. The cedar and vetiver are prominent to me, and thankfully the chocolate is no longer sticking out. I'm not a fan of chocolate notes. The benzoin acts like a creamy connector to everything. It's bittersweet.

I'm reviewing the older bottle with the silver design on top.

Update: I've had this for a year now and I must say I love it more and more. It's lovely year round, day or night.

MorganaM

Testing a 2007 EDP.

SPECTACULAR!!

Warmer and a bit softer than Hypnotic Poison, but similar all the same. Less stabby and intense than HP (which I still love - the dry-down is worth the price of admission), although it is indeed strong. Eight hours later with moderate application -because I'm not a shy sprayer- and Le Baiser du Dragon still going strong.

It opens with a sweet, rich, boozy bang, and I think this must be where a lot of testers check out. I was sure this would remain a strong gourmand, but the sweetness passes within an hour for me, and the deeper heart notes of patchouli and resins kick in.

Slightly sweet and resinous, VERY rich, woody and the tiniest bit creamy in the late dry-down. In it's final hours, soft jasmine and a deep, resinous woodiness are so very sensual and comforting. There is definitely a Samsara vibe at times, which is probably why I love it so, as if Hypnotic Poison and Samsara had a love child and it grew into it's mature loveliness in the deep forest, soaking in it's rich, woody essence.

I get no vetiver or powdery-ness, or any rose. The jasmine and patchouli are very well-behaved. I must be smelling the chocolate, but it comes across as vanilla or tonka, although they're not listed.

Overall very rich, yet comfortably wearable, and so overwhelmingly sexy. Likely not for the fearful or timid.

Can't wait to continue testing this. I have a 2005 parfum on it's way, and I can't wait to try it as well. I've read that there are interesting differences between the Parfum, EDP, and EDT. I intend to explore them all.

I can see why this may seem "too much" to even those who lean towards liking it, but I would urge anyone interested in trying again to apply it early and wait for that stunning dry-down. It's so worth it-

chinook

Le Baiser Du Dragon reminds me of my grandparents house when I was a kid. It smells like herbal medicines (a lot of musk). I felt an immediate connection as it reminds me of of my childhood. It feels very comforting. It’s warm, balsamic, and so glorious in the humid heat of summer. I don’t particularly like the packaging and marketing concept as it propagates the dragon lady stereotype. But I might buy a bottle since i enjoy the scent. Sillage is about arms length. Longevity is about half a day.

monikaasiya

this is the most seductive scent i've ever smelled-an aphrodisiac
i don't know which note makes it so incredibly stunning but i thing this is the whole orchestra of the ingredients composed with perfection by the greatest Alberto Morillas
it is unisex in my opinion
it transforms a woman into a sexy seductive mysterious lady -and a man into a handsome attractive and also very misterious gentleman
very warm and cassy at the same time
it smells like "something else" something very intriguing and very addictive
i can't stop sniffing at it when i wear it
it is a scent for a strong and self-confident person in my opinion

oudorchid84

Wish I discovered this years ago, I remember spraying a Cartier perfume at a duty free store and loved it, but could not remember which one it was fast forward. Went ahead and got it and all those memories of comfort confidence and sophistication came back when it arrived and I sprayed. This definitely leans as unisex. This is a modern Niche gourmand in my book and it's also a timeless oriental classic. Does not smell dated at all. I get an oily and dry almond note with boozy liquor then vanilla soft powder that keeps transcending into one another, don't laugh but I also get a high end baby oil note, like its been tinctured with benzoin resin. Baiser dragon has been my staple mostly as I reach for it frequently.

petitegourmandisesbisous

Recently I've been very intrigued by older oriental scents, and with that in mind decided to try this one again. The first time I tried this was about a year ago and I have to admit I didn't like it. It smelled very simple and one note-y, very very powdery (which I'm not averse to depending on the sort of powder) and... strange? It doesn't smell of the notes listed which saddens me so much as I was looking forward to the almond and liquor combo that so many seem to love. This time around was no different unfortunately. This one just isn't a go for me. It smells powdery in a real off putting way. Not just that, the powder isn't a typical powder. It's sort of unique. I wonder if I mainly picked up on the Iris and Musk but an unsure. I wish I could smell this sensual scent that everyone else seems to get, but no, instead I have this. Despite being from the 2000s it has a real "old" scent to me in that it seems as if it were made many many years before while simultaneously lacking a vintage quality that say, Shalimar has. Not a safe blind buy at all. The one thing I will compliment it on is longevity as it stuck on my wrist for hours which is usually the place where fragrance tends to fade first for me. Even after washing my wrist 3x the scent lingers which would definitely be a plus for those who are fans. Unfortunately, that person isn't me.

Note: According to JC2109's review, I have the 2013 EDP.

Dunk

I like this as man. ... as sweet as many men’s fragrances are today, I could pull this off easily ...I think 🤔 it’s a classy gourmand to my nose .

roseyessence

It first it felt old lady, too too mature to me, but I have since had a rethought. It is still strong, it is quite bold, not sensuous but sexy. She is bold. She can be unisex. Alluring, tempting and cold are the words I would use. I describe perfumes in feelings. I love her. Reminds me of Serge Lutens Ambre Sultan

Mc1995

Quite unisex, reminds me of Thierry Mugler ‘A*men’ except more powderey, lighter. Also a bit similar to Kenzo Flower except darker less baby powder

Vanillastorm40

Subtle sweetness. I really smell the bitter almond. I love Oriental vanilla has and this is right up my alley. On the list to buy.

ivadim

Многолик и различно разкриващ се аромат, ако 🐉 пожелае да ви целуне:)

indiglo

I must admit the name of this one intrigued me and prompted my interest.
It's multi-faceted and interesting, and a bit unpredictable for me -- well, why would a dragon be predictable? :)
Today I think I pick up some of the booziness of amaretto at opening, once that settles down then powdery almond with bitter wafts (vetiver or maybe the bitter side of the almond), and something a little tart in the background (maybe the amaretto). Not that loud with the amount I applied. I like it, rather fascinating.

4oaks

This is currently on Cartier.com. The bottle is the same as when I initially purchased it in Paris when it was first introduced. The scent is the same as well. It does not have the same longevity however. The original was one that I sprayed twice and it lasted for almost 24 hours. My new bottle lasts about 6 hours, but it still remains a skin scent at 6 hours which my husband loves when he neck nuzzles. I’m very happy to add this to my collection again. If you have not been in to Cartier on Oahu, you are missing out on a one of a kind experience. The customer service is outstanding. Worth the memories and the experience. You are also assured that you are not getting a knock off. Call ahead to let them know you are interested in this, as it is one they do not always carry at every site.

ViouAmara

I don’t like the short harsh opening, but after a few minutes only, let’s start for real.
Bitter almond-amaretto, with a drop of neroli, this is nearly foody but not sugary, very interesting ! Powerful, so no need to bath in it to get the story. A gourmand before the invention of gluttony.
A floral creamy background gives depth and light, so it’s not a sad fragrance. I would like to hug someone smelling that warm way.
With time, the whole thing becomes slowly dark chocolate/patchouli-like, extremely similar to angel mugler. But in a wearable acceptable way.
So not for everyone, but serious consequences could occur, knowing the effect of this kind of scent on the others.

MsLittlejohn

Lovely scent, just not quite right for me. Soooo STONG! After 4hrs or so it gets better, but... Traded it. Very well made parfum, I have to say.

BettinaFox

Identical twin of Rochas Absolu. Not as harsh though.
Patchouli, benzoin, liquor, with almond and some florals in the background. No woodyness here. Creamy, yet a bit harsh, it has a personality for sure.

Still...

Not my cup of tea...

theuntrainednose

New review for the partial (10-20%, probably) bottle I received in a giveaway (thank you scarbo!).

---

I am wearing this on a crisp autumn day. This version is darker, woodier, "thicker" and more bitter than the one is the sample vial I had tried before.

Deep, bitter amaretto, liquor-y, almost like a whisky, but bitter-er, and bitter almonds, and wood. Dark, thick wood scent. And dark, dark, dark chocolate. Bitter and buttery thick. And resins, which bring some sweetness into the mix, but not too much. And the dark, oily, bitter kind of patchouli that reminds you of some chocolate notes.

I really, really, really like this version. Strong. Sexy. Intellectual and carnal and not innocent at all. I am into strong scents so I wore this to work, but I only used 3 sprays with some discretion.

It's amazing! I believe it could be deliciously sexy on a man too... but I really want a full bottle for me now.

Pandarapt

If Kohl eyeliners had a figurative smell and they joined a posse led by the cyanide almonds from Hypnotic Poison, the grand total of their schemes would be Le Baiser du Dragon.

It slips into the skin and almost smells like it´s being narrated by an extinct voice from the past, the forgotten footage from the decadent orientals of the eighties that have very little to do with what was being released at the beginning of the millenia. Smoky narcotic vetiver opiated further by spices ignites inside a silk lantern of smooth chocolate patchouli (reminiscent of Serge Lutens Vetiver Oriental at the middle-end stages) covering the dry bloom of a potpourri rose over the paleness of slightly powdery iris, operatic red and white.

It has a retro somber luxury in its tone and manner that would make it easily fostered by the trapped femme fatale personified by Rita Hayworth in a Welles seedy noir, eating yangzhou candy made with bitter almonds while drinking cognac and pondering, watching the objects around her cast their shivering shadows by a flaming fireplace, a little of charred wood creeping out, half hidden by woody lacqer screens of a coromandel, the tinge of benzoin over cedar.

Many, many notes lead to a polished smooth abstract distortion, funhouse hall of mirrors at times disorienting but remaining surprinsingly coherent in its total form, a dragon playing conjuring tricks just to remain death still with the wearer laying at its shadow.

lindaonlypet

Ohhh! Is very very similar to Kenzo Amour Le Parfum (gold bottle) very sweet fragrance...

Sabretoothkitten

Just been using up a decant from a lovely fragrances friend and decided I needed a full bottle. Found one for $33... I am happy.

DrRosie

Timeless classic! A must have in your collection to be worn on these days when you want to smell different from the norm.

AMMILLER

This scent was not my favorite. Its VERY strong, and reminds me of an Avon perfume. On my skin, it has a harsh amber opening, a sticky, musky floral scent, followed by a powdery sweet vaguely chocolate scent that will not wash off, even with VIGOROUS scrubbing. Think lady at church, way over dressed, wearing this perfume and it wears your nostrils while the pastor drones on and on until your ready to scream. Then the old lady stands up and hugs you. 3 out of 10

Sabretoothkitten

I just got a decent from a fragrance friend and yes, I need this!
It's somewhat reminiscent of Sensi but not as sweet. Love the warm cozy but sexy woodsy/ nutty scent mixed with white florals. I smell florals at first then smoky wood and almond. Light insence and silliness and Benson in the mix.
While many others may find this heavy I don't for some reason. Love the bottle.
I think this one is true to its name but she is a female dragoness.

Pempipot

Very strong, very warm, very vetiver, very patchouli, very boozy.
Very powdery in the drydown.
Extremely heavy.

This is an interesting scent, but definitely not for me. I think it could be a good pick for those into very "sexy" and heavy scents. It's smells quite classic to me, not really original and the patchouly is absolutely overbearing and cover everything including the gourmand note. I have no idea if this is due to the reformulation.
Definitely not for me.

ivadim

Един от моите любимци, купени без тест:) обичам го, всеки път може да бъде различен и все пак същият. Учудва ме как различните нотки се проявяват самостоятелно в различни моменти. Красив траен незадушаващ аромат

pamelalasalle110

Born in the year of The Dragon, I was so excited to receive my bottle yesterday, and it's just as I remembered when it first launched. Exquisite...Hot, sensual, very seductive feeling. This is a Cartier masterpiece, which needs no upgrades nor "special editions". It's like a new take on my mothers favorite original YSL Opium. So spicy, a bit nutty without being too gourmand. I'd actually classify this as an Oriental type fragrance because of it apparent complexity. However you want to classify it, to me, it's the best Cartier has to offer. If anyone has any suggestions on something remotely similar, price tag and all, I'm open to suggestions. I recommend this one highly especially if you have a dangerous, Dragon spirit.
Projection and longevity are enormous as well.

gtabasso

vanilla; musk; patchouli, a little sweet and even fruity in the top but in the dry down the woods give it almost a leather vibe; sometimes, the top is peppery on me; I like this one, unique and enjoyable but not a curl-my-toes love

mohsen95

5/10

evapap181977

extremely chic !for me that s how a gourmand scent should smell.good longevity

Camerynn

Penny Royale - I don't think it was your bottle. I get nothing but straight up baby powder as well.
Not digging it.

clintjr82

Unbelievable, this smells awesome for a woman. After my lady testing the sample for few days, she agrees. Unique and Addictive. I will be buying this.

ellenwalsh

favorite fragrance in my lifetime. but they stopped making the parfum, now just eau. not as intoxicating.

Betsywoolbright

I wouldn't be worried on account of the liquid being dark. Benzoin perfumes often do smell like baby wipes to me also.
Sounds like your bottle is genuine, but just turned.

Penny Royale

I've wanted to try this for the longest time, since I like the fragrance notes and am determined to find a spicy oriental fragrance that I like to wear. I was expecting this fragrance to be very powerful. I asked to sample it once in a department store, and the saleswoman balked and said that they didn't carry the fragrance, but warned me that it was huge, smoky, and intense.

Anyway, I ordered a bottle from a trusted retailer. I think there is something wrong with my bottle. The juice inside seems to have darkened, since it doesn't match any pictures, and there is a scratch on the bottle that may be a small crack in the glass. I sprayed it on my wrists and couldn't smell anything. Put my nose right up to my wrist, got the barest whiff of almond and a powder note, and then it faded again. I sprayed once more on my neck and didn't even smell anything from that spray. I can hardly smell this fragrance. I can't distinguish any notes. If I try really hard to smell something, I can make out the scent of baby wipes. It's bizarre. I have barely a dab from a sample of Alien Musc Mysterieux on the back of one of my hands and it's overpowering LBdD, which I'm wearing on my neck and both wrists. I can only assume there's something really off about the bottle I received. So be careful about where you buy, because so far, this isn't the legendary kiss from a dragon the other reviews make it out to be.

Edit: 15 minutes later and I can now smell it a little better, but it's literally just baby powder with a hint of rose, which still leads me to believe that there's something wrong with my bottle. There's no smoke or cedar or anything.

Alces Alces

Well, this one surprised me. I thought I disliked almond notes based on not liking almonds as a food and past experiences with almond dominant scents: they are usually too sweet, too sticky, too intense. Not Le Baiser du Dragon. Maybe it's because it has amaretto, not straight up almond. The almond opening smells unlike anything else I have ever tried. Smooth, rich, exotic without being spicy. LBdD is that rare thing, an oriental fragrance that does not over rely on spices.

People have already described this pretty well. I dissent from the criticisms of the reformulation - it's wonderful, or so I think not having smelled the original.

One point I am surprised not to see here already is that the VETIVER in this absolutely rules. It's one of my favorite vetiver scents. Once the almond dissipates, you are left with a slightly more feminine version of Encre Noire. The dry down is 90% Encre Noir. Surprisingly easy to wear even by day. Great for autumn.

Bigsly

I have a bottle of the vintage EdP and consider it unisex (for me). In fact, over time, I have come to agree more and more with Luca Turin's colleague, who said it's like Old Spice circa 1970 (if I remember correctly), though I wouldn't go that far. Another of this type is PS Fine Cologne (Paul Sebastian), at least in vintage formulation. Those other two don't have the almond of LBdD, though, but they all have similar texture (at a certain point) and share some dominant notes. LBdD is more gourmand and a bit sweeter. I'd say most would think of it as a "special occasion" fragrance, but that's what they all are to me, because I like a great deal of variety. I don't get many of the comparisons made in other reviews, but it's a strong, complex fragrance, so that's understandable. By comparison, vintage Opium is considerably more floral (other than the powderiness of LBdD, which some might think of as floral). And though the stock has dried up, FUBU Plush for Men has the amaretto, some spice, and powderiness, but also a strong wood note, so it is a more "masculine" scent of this type.

Bubbles1964

My first Cartier perfume, and thanks to Betty_Bounce I know that the bottle I bought off eBay is vintage because the cap has the original pattern on it. Mine is about half full of a 1.7 oz bottle, and the batch code 3DAF means that this is the release year of 2003.

Luckily the composition smells like it's in good shape. This is a complex scent with a lot going on. It starts off boozy, almond dessert like and I'm in front of the fireplace. I pick up smoke and/or frankincense (not listed so maybe it's the patch, benzoin and musk giving me that sensation?). It's a warm scent, and I do pick up the retro 80s - 90s vibe.

Dragon also smells like something from the house of Serge Lutens. This is a bit of an odd and ambitious effort with the mix of notes, and conjures up the work of mixmaster Christopher Sheldrake.

I like it and will probably keep it. But I'll need to give this another test in colder weather, as it's too much for summer. I washed it off at the 3 hour mark and it hadn't turned to a skin scent.

Coloradodivegirl

My mini just arrived! Nice additional to my Cartier mini collection but call me nuts! After about getting knocked on my butt by the first dab, the dry down is almost identical to the dry down of Dior Dune.

tittertat

This was a disappointment to me. I seem to have somewhat anosmia to it. I expected sweet almond macaroon, maybe Sensi + Samsara but all I get is a relatively dry, woodsy and rather masculine scent. It's not bad but not sexy or yummy imo. Just ok. Maybe I just can't smell some of the notes. That's why I love samples...no regret, no comittment.

betty_bounce

I think I like this. It's not quite what I was expecting, which was a big 80s power scent like some reviewers describe. Although enough other reviewers state that it's much tamer than they expected too, so I guess I'm not too surprised. It certainly is almondy. Powdery, a bit spicy. I can't pick up on any chocolate, which I had been looking forward to. It would be delightful with the chocolate dialled up a bit. The patchouli is subtle, or very well blended at least. I didn't think I could smell it the first few wears, but I recognise it today, it's just well camouflaged. Sillage is not too big, not too subtle.

Annoyingly, this review applies the same to both my Nov 2013 bottle (3LAB) and the vintage April 2003 (3DAC) bottle I just bought (both EDP). I have one on each wrist now and can't tell them apart. They smell the same. They are the same colour. The bottles are the same. Strange, as others swear there's a big difference between current and vintage versions. I'm wondering if the "vintage" isn't really that old. To help those trying to determine the age of their bottle - the two differences between them are the lids - the vintage has the oriental pattern on top, while the 2013 one is plain. And the 2013 one has the "period after opening"(PAO) icon - the one with the picture of a little tub with "18 M" in it, to say the perfume is only good for 18 months after opening (if you believe that). The vintage one is missing this. As far as I can tell, the PAO icon came in February 2003 and was legally required from March 2005 (that's a good tip to help date perfumes by the way, as a lot of companies reuse batch codes every 10 years). I've only just worked this out about the PAO, I haven't seen others mention it as a way of dating perfumes, so I don't know how reliable it is. I think it only applies to European Union. Based on this, I guess it's possible my 2013 bottle is actually 2003, I'm just assuming it's the current version as it wasn't sold as vintage.

Anyway, it's a very nice spicy woody nutty situation. It may grow on me more to be a love; it has potential. But it wasn't love at first sniff. I find those often die out as a brief fling though, and it's the slow to grow loves that stick around longer. (Same with men, that's my 2 cents.) Fingers crossed!

sophywt

I have an old Le baiser du dragon miniature, it smells boozy and warm, a nice and soft combination of floral, oriental and spicy notes.

However, it's not easy to find one, I believe that it had been discountiued, at least for some time. Recently, a perfume shop that I frequently visit carries it again. and cartier official website also hass a page for it. so maybe cartier re-launched it quietly. Anyway, I bought one.

The new bottle is same as the old, but the smell, I think, is a little bit different from the old, the openning boozy notes are hardly to tell, so the almond notes. It's more (white) floral, less oriental. Frankly speaking, it's not a bad one, I like this kind of tamed floral oriental scents. but I miss the old one more.

LuckyNLove

This starts fresh and hinting at complexity. It evens out into pure "cedar" on my skin.
I love its initial strangeness but only wear it on days I'm in the mood for the drawn-out, rather thin cedar denouement.
I worked in coastal cedar forests.
This doesn't capture the sweet depth of the wood but it's okay in its own right.

justfloral

Not for me. It reminds me the smell of cyanide!!! (from my school lab). Or some kind of car exhaust (marzipan-saffron like). But it's surely a must-have for almond lovers.

I had a big expectation for this but it is not my type.
I feel i am in an old pub with it - too spicy, too Vetiver and Patchouli. At the beginning is Amaretto and more alcochol.
Not any asweethness, not for me at all.
It reminds me of Kenzo Jungle with its spicy notes, which i don't like too.

After a few days: the more i wear it, the more i like it, especially the beginning!

A bit bitter, a bit spicy (very, very soft), a bit sweet, a bit herbal and very balsamic. Not my cup of tea. A bit too shy for my taste. And a bit dated, to tell the truth. In this category of orient inspired scents, i prefer Opium by YSL. This one is not bad, but it is nothing that i would like to wear.

SailorV

Le Baiser du Dragon starts very warm and heavy, with a herbal, spicy patchouli, vetiver and very bitter dark chocolate. It's thick and sticky. There is a boozy note, but I'm not sure I would have identified it as amaretto, as the start really isn't sweet or almondy at all.
After some time, I get cedar and some very faint florals.
Mainly, it's a bitter oriental that has a fiery touch, indeed, so it's aptly named.
The sweeter notes of almond, caramel and most noticeable, amber, only come out after many hours in the final drydown. There's still a lot of patchouli and spiciness though, this is not a gourmand. It's more of a dual scent of wild herbal bitterness and warm femininity. It's grown-up and multifaceted.
This scent had to grow on me a bit, I liked it more and more after I tried it a few times.

I guess I expected it to be a bit different. I have a carded sample of this and I'm not sure if it's an older or newer version. But because the amaretto and almond aren't as strong as I thought (neither on my skin, nor on a cotton pad), I think it might be the reformulated version. Also, it's a strong scent, but not quite the sillage bomb that some reviewers say it is, so that's another hint.

FatFragHead

So. I wore this today as I have been dying to wear since I saw Sebastian say it makes a good unisex fragrance. I must agree as I have received numerous compliments today during the first 4hrs of wearing, it starts to come closer after that. I don't get that scent cloud at the moment but I am still at my desk at work. I don't get the comparison to Angel at all! This is a nice classy, somewhat powdery (not much) and dry scent. I thought of a dry wine when I first sprayed it. I like it well enough that I think I may buy a backup. I sprayed it liberally today and glad I did. This has heavy sillage/projection for the first 2 hours, moderate at 4, closer after. It is lingering still as I sprayed it on at 8:30 AM it's now 6:30 PM. So, performance is no slouch. I recommend if you want a break from cookie-cutter fragrances of today. This isn't dated and again a timeless, classy scent for everyone. happy Sniffing.

I have both the original formula and the current reformulated version. The current version is missing the boozy amaretto and most of the deep smoke. Though I much prefer the original, the current version is lighter, easier to wear for most people.
This current version is very woody with much stronger vetiver and cedar notes. The floral notes are much more understated, hidden, almost non existent. The dark chocolate and caramel notes are softer, not nearly as rich as in the original.
When I wear this current version, I feel as if I'm wearing a totally different but very likeable woody fragrance that is nothing like the original formula. This current version is much more unisex, dry and airy. It projects strongly for hours and lasts forever until you wash it off.
Warm & comforting, this version is perfect for Fall and Winter days and nights. It's still airy enough to wear in Spring and Summer, too, so it's more versatile. In Spring and Summer, it reminds me of distant smoky campfires burning the cool night breezes. Definitely worth owning both versions.

cocolover56

Heavy patchouli goodness & amaretto. One of my absolute favourite oriental fragrances. Warm, lovely and with hidden gems: the lair of the dragon.

I think it does have a few things in common with Alien Essence Absolue, which is quite classy to me. Similar feeling, but worlds apart if you know what I mean.

I think this particular fragrance has a more familiar feeling to it than any Mugler has. Mugler is based around a style of 80s fragrance, much like Eden or LouLou, where strangeness is key. A 'You know me and you don't' type of deal whereas LBdD is based around recognizable 'orientalism', much like Coco was.

Not really comparable to anything else

Got this one last summer. It was a hot day, and I just decided to stop by at costco after work. I got this one without knowing how good or bad it was. Then, went to my car and opened it, sprayed once, and I was knocked out. Felt like there was a big ball of heat hitting me on the face. I could smell most of the cedar, neroli and jasmine, and little bit of sugar. This happened for about 15 minutes, then the heat calmed down. I was so surprised to smell gardenia; it was like a very thin and light breeze of gardenia passed by very quick, then I smiled. Such a pleasure smell. Then I pictured myself sitting on the floor, near the fireplace, inside the house with a cup of hot sweet chocolate, while the cold winter wind kept blowing strong outside. Very interesting perfume. I liked it.
Then I tried it last winter to see if it still the same. All I could smell was the earthly and wooden ones, not even a slight sweetness or any gardenia anymore.
In the end, I put it in one of my favorite summer perfumes.

adrienn99

almondy vetiver...absolutely loving it!
7 years ago I did not like it (just re-read my review back from 2010), not sure it was a spoiled sample or just that my taste changed since. anyway, this is a must have it category now

mister_chaz

This is a review of the parfum extrait (not the edp).

I suspect that the parfum version of this has different composition from the original EDT which I had years ago. For instance, there is no almond in the parfum version, the note pyramid seems less overall. It starts with bergamot and wood on me, I can definitely detect iris in here. The vetiver is more prominent in the dry-down. This is more of a floral woody musky scent with a touch of spice, there is nothing gourmand in here.

Overall, while the original EDT smelled a bit too heavy and messy to me, I actually find the parfum extrait version more refined and wearable than the EDT (I cannot compare this to the more recent EDP as I haven't had a chance to test that one). It also has that 1970's vibe somehow. The cons of the parfum is that it does not seem to be very long lasting, unfortunately (5-6 hours max on me).

mschnabel666

Bought an EDP and I'm on the fence. I like thick gourmands and vintage scents.

I found this a LOT like Jesus Pozo's In Black and Cartier Delices. It was kinda like Opium too. I'm considering swapping, but I'd like to try in winter.

I wish I got almond/chocolate/booze, but I'm just getting spicy wood. This is an odd one.

palebluemoon

it's all about vetiver

SuzanneS

Vintage Parfum:
Boozy spicy woody opening like amaretto. A oriental amber bordering on gourmand but like a first generation gourmand. It has syrup nuances but not a in your face sugar bomb. A chocolate note surfaces (patchouli?) This is rich and aristocratic would be bordering on arabian. Seductive on the right woman. Read again..WOMAN. Gorgeous.
Bought a vintage edp for the upcoming fall and winter

kati77

Perfume have in composition amaretto but in my opinion it is a whiskey more like. Strong alcohol plus of course almonds, amber, patchouli, which gives a warm, woody smell. Sweet, seductive, intense and alcoholic. Iris, rose, jasmine gives floral dry aftertaste.
Unique scent, very durable, but quite retro. Although sexy and memorable in a sense, it belongs to that era of 80s, 90s.
For the evening out like banquets, galas, opera etc ...
I finished the sample. I will not buy a bottle, they are not the perfume of my type

ANNAFRYS

Iris and musk gives me warm and sthg sexy... all is just well done. On my way to purchase.
The only thing kept me always away of proper test of this product was a bottle. Not a fan of dragons, Asia.
Red, color looked heavy for me since I have looked and I was affraid of sthg really unpleasure.
What a surpise! I don;t need anything else besides this one.
It has some ingrediens - they making me horny lol - sorry to say it but all I feel in it is smells of lovers and sex.
Besides it reminds me my Polish friend Asyja. she was obsessed about it and I totally agree with her.
Besides I like other Cartier products.

gtabasso

pretty linear and simple: cheap amber, patchouli and musk. This is dry yet sweet with a little fruity/amaretto overtone. It smells a lot like something else that I can't place. An okay, inexpensive fragrance that I like but don't think it is worth what they are charging retail. I got my 3.4 oz bottle for $25 new. It's not really even worth that to me. Slap on the Cartier name and charge too much. It's okay. Good for a young person or someone just starting in fragrances but if you are a collector and fraghead, keep walking on this one. It will disappoint. Oh, and utterly, totally unisex. It's the top I'm not really a fan of but in the drydown the dry woods rise giving this an almost leather feel.

ginnywho

I don't have the sophistication or knowledge of notes that many of you have, so therefore my articulation may fall somewhat short and without much flair. I get almond, chocolate, and cedar woodsy on my wrist with this one. Not a bad combo IMO. This scent is perfect for me today - raining, raining, raining, typical San Francisco weather that casts a gloomy view when looking out a window. Strangely, I felt like wearing something different this evening, something a bit dramatic with a twist. This is perfect because it's a bit moody. Now, if Mr. Wonderful would be kind enough to nibble on my ear, the day would end perfectly. He does like this one, so my chances are good to excellent that he will.

I do love this stuff, especially on a winter's day! I can see a confident woman wearing this into the board room after applying it c-a-r-e-f-u-l-l-y in the morning. Emphasis on very early morning and very sparingly. Otherwise the board members will be gacking and wheezing. It could have a Mace effect if used with abandon and induce tears. Just a warning.

VampsandTramps

This is an anomaly for me. I generally don't prefer almond and I downright detest gardenia, and typically if "sweet" is listed in the main accords, the fragrance is a no-go. But I still enjoy this. I get an amaretto and patchouli fragrance with some dusty florals. There is barely a hint of chocolate. The only thing I don't like is an occasional metallic accord - but my bottle is a 10-year old tester. Overall very wearable and is say sexy.

ChrisInBrooklyn

Has anyone any clue how to tell the older batches of BdD?! As far as I can tell, the formula has been tweaked from the original, through to the re-release. Any input as to how to tell the older, original batches from the newer is appreciated. Has anyone else noticed a great difference from one purchase (or batch) to the next? THANKS!

UnearthlyApothecary

Oh my goodness! What a delicious boozy vetiver-patchouli delight! I was not expecting to love this as much as I do. I believe it should have been marketed as unisex, some women (who will not be expecting it to smell as masculine as it does) might buy it and hate it. Ladies, If you love a strong woodsy scent with a boozy kick and a masculine edge, then don't be afraid to give this dragon a kiss. I think there are many men who would love this as well.

Camerynn

I find this to be warm, but boring and too masculine for me. I'm not into unisex fragrances in general, so if you are then you may enjoy this. Seems to be on the longer-lasting side.

theuntrainednose

Re-tested in June 2017:

You should always re-test your fragrances. Today it blooms beautifully on my skin.

Warm boozy alcoholic amaretto, resins, woods, flowers, and, again, something dry, herby and almost bitter. Occasionally I can even smell the cocoa / dark chocolate note that can appear in some patchoulis. And thankfully today the musk is very discreet.

Even though it is not in the notes, to me there is also oxidized/sour honey, almost going into the liquorous sweeter kind of mead (not the bubbly, fresh, beer-y mead, which you can smell on L'Envol).

As it smells on me today, wonderful, unusual gourmand which I would very much like to own.

---
Jan 2017:
On me, a strange dry floral with musk and resins. I can strongly smell the gardenia, the jasmine and the musk, and something very dry and herby which could be the vetiver. The woods, almond and amaretto notes come and go in waves.

This is an odd, unusual perfume. Unfortunately, today the musk is overwhelming. I'll have to re-test it.

---
I have a sample.

In the article up here are mentioned (writing) oranges and citruses, and actually I can sense a lot of zesty note here, but between the notes list (pictures) there are no oranges or citruses. Well, we know Maisons make a free abuse of notes here, except neroli which is mor flowery than so fresh... meybe there is Iso E Super here also. Can be the synth iris.. Because Cedar seems to be the main note, more than vetiver, to me. Anyway I just say so to affirm that despite of the sweet/warm notes listed I find this scent also very fresh, pungent, almost balsamic. Non so Heavy gourmand but more luminous and pretty sunny. Metal Apricot also. It smell very feminine to me, smell like a rich and expensive face cream.

But it is a Good perfume. a bit dated. Not a great success from Cartier.

Maybe the bottle and the name do not match at all. A simple and coloured bottle like Happy by Clinique and a summer name & promotion would have been more appropriate.

Ok, yes, maybe the drydown is more masculine because reminds me a penny arcade/recreation rooms of the 80s.

Winter Sweet

No,thanks.I don't want this Dragon to kiss me.
Boozy & heavy! Bitter & heady! Not a sweet perfume at all.
Very loud and long lasting. Gave me a headache.
As to the notes, all I could recognize was Amaretto and Vetiver.
Vetiver gives it a dry and woody accord. This is a more masculine perfume imo.

Kharnak Rex

Montale Aoud Lime. Dead on. same opening, same boozy caramel like Amaretto Lime opening. like sniffing a liquor bottle.
Only difference however, Montale's is FAR more potent and long lasting and stays one dimensional without changing or evolving over time.

Cartier's softens quickly into a sweet Almond like Vanilla vibe.
I'm surprised dept. stores carried it, i thought it was discontinued or something..

deviation

I was seduced to try this perfume for its top 3 notes listed here. First 20 minutes it smelled intoxicatingly divine, then after that it dries down to vetiver with a very tiny bit of almond booze lurking in the background. Stays on my skin for 2 hours...I was expecting dragons and dungeons to emerge out but what I get is a graceful lady minding her own business. This is not me but I may put this on my buy list ... It will come in handy for those days when I have to pretend I'm normal.

mapache

Wanted this one for the longest time !!! However, I first sniffed this years ago, and remembered that I liked it a lot. I am not at all loving this one. Does not tick all my boxes. Perhaps the time I smelled it first was before the reformulation....????
I does remind me a lot of Rochas Absolute, which I own. I have a 3.3 oz bottle w/box....sprayed 2 times.
Pm me if interested in swap.

shushkin

I've been after this for sometime and thought it would be love at first sniff. Its got all the notes I love. It is very pleasant but it's no humdinger. I guess with a dragon involved and perhaps some fiery breath that's what I was expecting in perfume form. I'd say it was more like a docile gently crackling log fire. Cosy and warm like a big soft fluffy jumper. Lots of amaretto, a little sweetness, nuttiness, wood, amber and some patch but I thought there would be some kick from the vetiver (instead of a kiss further down the timeline) and maybe some serious incense. Its more of a classy, boozy, resinous scent that you have to get up close to after a short while to even detect. Moderate sillage and longevity. I wonder what the first version was like.

Cyrule

I really liked the idea of a fragrance transporting you to a world of fairytale dragons, princesses, and knights. For a flash I can almost imagine it. To keep the impression up, Baiser du Dragon would need to lighten up a little. The slight booze sharpness of the amaretto is quite pleasing and necessary in a scent that would be overwhelmingly sticky hot otherwise.
My first impression of this fragrance is that it's nice, on someone else. There have been many comments about how this sweet aroma is unisex. You could wear this fragrance as a man and not commit any major taboos. Could. To my nose this fragrance smells like a well-dressed lady in her 50's or 60's who wears this on a chilly fall or winter day. She walks into her office where she is surrounded by photos of her comfortably middle class family arranged tastefully around her desk. Maybe she's a realtor; she definitely drives a Lexus or an Infiniti. Gosh, have I met this woman??
As a 25 year old man it doesn't seem to fit me but I do appreciate it for what it is. I will revisit this during cold weather to see how it affects me then.

Soofiya

A very risky blind buy for me,I love almond and amaretto but I often can't get along well with patchouli and vetiver..I've imagined a dragon's kiss very spicy, burning, hot, loud, heady, harsh, very unique
Cartier can use wierd ingredients artistically,as in cartier LA panther we see..cartier le baiser du dragon is one of rare woodsy scents, patch and vetiver dominant, that I don't hate, but I don't love it either
I can't describe it note by note..all I get is some dark, spicy woodsy notes(vetiver and patch),dark chocolate and a boozy note, other notes must be very wellblended, unfortunately I can't pickup any almond or caramel
I was looking for a very unique, sexy and edgy adult gourmand.it definitely IS unique and edgy and adult but it's not that sexy or gourmand
well actually it has some sort of deliciousness, it's delicious in a mature, dark, mysterious, bittersweet way, boozy, rich and luscious..I agree it can pass as unisex easily,it has a very noticeable masculine vibe
I like how boozy amaretto and dark, bittersweet caramelized chocolate melt in spicy patchouli and vetiver,it's warm and rounded, signature scent worthy and a real masterpiece..I adore Alberto morillas
But what makes me be on the fence about it is that it becomes more and more woodsy.all it's intresting notes and it's unique deliciousness fades away and was is left is just a dry, totally masculine scent of vetiver and powder.this dose of woodyness is almost intolerable for me, it's the exact same thing that happens with the lovely, vintage Lanvin Arpege,I love it's opening but it dries down to suffocating, warm, bland scent of woods.but I have to give Dragon more time as I love it's first phase and I love my 1.7oz bottle
My bottle is made in first years of it's launch,so if there was a reformulation,I have the prereformulation version, this one is almost long-lasting with a great sillage

I love this bitter, woody, booze almond goodness of a scent! As already stated overspray, don't be shy or you won't get the longevity or full effect of the scent itself I feel. It's not overpowering it is like a kiss, a herbal, woody almond one that is gorgeous, so pleased to finally have this one in my collection!

EvesFolly

Boozy, sexy, bitter, herbal, floral, smoky amaretto. Who decided that a Dragon's Kiss would taste of almonds? I don't know, but I'd like to kiss *them*. To me, this is the kiss of the luck dragon: all beauty, with nothing offputting whatsoever. A totally unique and utterly underappreciated fragrance.
If you have ever smelled a bottle of Amaretto di Saronno and thought "my god, I would wear this as a perfume," well, your wish has been answered. That being said, this perfume is not that sweet; not sugary at all. It has a bitter, woody, herbal undertone -cedar and patchouli, mostly, probably vetiver but I'm rubbish at spotting that note. Very heady alcohol overtones; it almost smells like you could burst into flame if you drift too close to a candle. I also get a lot of exotic florals: a blast of jasmine and gardenia that lingers and plays.
The warm musk center that develops is to die for, and the almost edible almond-benzoin-caramel-chocolate dry-down is deeply sensual. Or, as my husband says with such eloquence, "Mm, you smell like Waffle Haus."
I agree that you do have to overspray to get the longevity. I recommend getting some on your clothes. Prepare to walk about in a cloud for a little while. It will seem like too much, but if you're not brave, you won't get the full effect and it will vanish, leaving you hungry for more. Ravenous, in fact. And you'll go back for it again, and again, it is that addictive.

Sophie75

Unfortunately we do not match...no matter how much I wanted it. For me it's not wearable at all, at any occasion :( Too much and too indiscreet.

Madrona

I was looking for an opportunity to smell this one for a long time and now I am sitting here with two different samples of it in front of me. One is an "official" sample that is most likely from 2005 and one is taken out of an unknown bottle. The juice of the official sample is a bit darker, and they smell somewhat different (I am guessing the lighter sample is a newer formulation).

The older one certainly has a boozy burn to it, very heavy on the benzoin as well, it is "staler", deeper, woodier and smokier than the newer version. They are clearly variations on the same scent, though the newer one is rather tamed in comparison, it even moves towards a slight soapiness to my nose. I am not getting much of an amaretto note compared to other amaretto scents I have tried, though, it is not a very literal amaretto. Neither of these are what I expected or wanted them to be, actually.

Guermantes

Thank you Macassar! :)

Macassar

No , they brought it back

Guermantes

I'm confused. Is this discontinued or not?? Still available on their website and in some shops online, but I emailed Cartier a year ago and they told me it was discontinued. Does anyone know?

Mentalrose

I just got a sample of this perfume. I was hoping so much to like it - and I don't dislike it. But it's not something that likes my body chemistry, apparently. This perfume is wafting back and forth between the smells of a baby's nursery (sans diapers) and the incense-and-dust smell of the used record stores I used to frequent in college. This is not actually a bad thing - I like both of those smells. But I don't like either of them enough to wear them on my person all day. A bit of a disappointment, but there's no arguing with body chemistry.

SCBohemian

Le Baiser Du Dragon is a rich fragrance of spices, fruits, and herbs that awakens the senses. The Eau De Parfum unfolds like an exotic narrative. Upon spraying it, I was immediately struck by bittersweet almond liqueur, star anise, and ripe apricot. The middle layer notes are warm musk and soft cedar--reminiscent of a Chinese lacquered tea chest! The comforting base notes of amber and patchouli round out this voluptuous beauty. Although not listed in the ingredients, Le Baiser Du Dragon appears to be spiked with hints of tonka bean and cinnamon as well---especially evident after an hour.
This Cartier cocktail blends shots of DiSarrono and Galliano with a frothy Starbucks Cinnamon Dolce Latte for dessert. This 5-star masterpiece will definitely tempt your olfactory palate! Sillage is excellent. Surprisingly, longevity is fair (about 3 hours), so I spritz it in my hair to last longer ;-)

Southern Blonde

Wow! I've never smelled anything like this before. If you can handle a lot of gourmand notes you'll really dig this. It's a caramelized amber chocolate spicy aromatic fragrance. I picked up on the scents of chocolate, amber, some flowers namely the iris and gardenia and of course the amaretto. The almond and amoretto give it a sweet but boozy kind of feel. It's like a very sexy elegant lady drinking some expensive alcohol at a posh hotel. Cartier has some amazing stuff and yet the prices are so affordable. I feel like I'm stealing perfume just by wearing it because the price is so low for something this fantastic and it does smell more expensive and more luxurious. It's a strong scent right off the bat so I won't wear this too much. It's perfect to wear in the evenings with some of my best clothes I can see myself wearing this while performing in my lounge singer wardrobe. Classy, sophisticated, gourmand gorgeousness.

Gigi The Fashionista

In my lust for amber and amaretto notes in fragrances I discovered Cartier's Kiss of the Dragon which shares some notes also found in Cacharel's Gloria. I have Cartier's So Pretty and this is a far different animal than that one. This is is also nothing like Cartier's masterpiece La Panthere. This is a gourmand dragon whose breath is full of liquor. It's got amaretto galore, and almond flavored vanillic sweetness. The flowers here gardenia iris and rose are the only floral notes but they're both strong flowers so they're enough to make it floral. But it's strictly a gourmand scent. The chocolate and caramel note is really strong to my nose. And of course it has amber, lots of amber. There is also some green patchouli and benzoin (which is incense) which give it that smokiness (the dragon's breath). Other strange scents appear sometimes: leather, olibanum, something balsamic, something green. It's aromatic but totally gourmand. Delicious and strong and totally unisex. It's also got plenty of detectable musk. I wear this in the evenings as it's clearly a night cologne. Sexy and strong and makes a statement. I love being kissed by this dragon.

theladymay

At my age, I've seen so many pitiful reformulations - but post 2007 Baiser du Dragon belongs in The Bad Fragrance Reformulation Hall of Fame. If I had encountered the current version first I definitely wouldn't own this. The parfum and edp from 2003 that I have is a warm, deep, resinous oriental with luscious, boozy, gourmand orange top notes, and a slightly sweet smoky spicy heart on a great amber base. It's not an overwhelmingly patchouli focused fragrance, though there's some there (more so in the edp). Longevity is excellent. I was flat out shocked to try a friend's 2010 edp next to mine. It's awful. The one thing it has going for it is that it disappears quickly. Yuck.

Maja2812

There is nothing "warm" or exactly "sensual" about this fragrance. I am so happy I did not "blind buy" this, but tried before considering. The notes for this can't be right. I used this site as a reference, but was confused after testing. I was so excited to see it in person and couldn't wait to smell it.It's not very spicy, but almost green, herbaceous, with a hint of sOmE spice, and lots of woods. I don't know what to really conclude about this one. Definitely not worth the money it costs and more 'Puff the Tamed Dragon' if anything. No fire, no excitement, ABSOLUTELY no mystery...just Meh.

NadiaQ

Whatttt??? When I first read the list of enticing notes in this...I thought I'd found THE one...but alas it was not to be! I so wanted to love this but all I get is a blast of Guerlain's Samsara....ON STEROIDS!

Not for me. Gave it away after one spray... sad, so sad.

amylouise_

Oh my goodness. Let me tell you how I went into my local department store for a different fragrance and the sales associate showed me Le Baiser Du Dragon and after I left the store I literally could not stop smelling my arm! I had to go back for it. Even though this fragrance is on the pricey side, it's worth every single penny!

Upon first spray it can be a bit daunting, however, once it dries down you will fall in love with this one. It's pure elegance and class. Something you'd wear to a gala or a fancy evening out. The perfect pairing with a little black dress and heels.

With Valentine's Day around the corner, I may just wear this one out with my boyfriend...<3

There's only a few Cartier scents I love (La Panthere and Goutte de Rose being the others), but this one is just gorgeous. Definitely not an every day scent, but a great evening one - especially if you want to make a statement. I would recommend this fragrance to any woman who wants to stand out from the pack and be bold.

Bravo, Cartier!

Sincerely,
A severely obsessed fragrance collector. :)

Blind bought a miniature of this, as I couldn't resist the name :P

At first whiff I felt my sense of smell assaulted, it was strong and not at all what I had imagined. But I was determined not to give up on it - I had decided I was going to like it no matter what!

Since then I have truly become friends with this confident fragrance. Given the chance, it's warm, friendly and familiar. Kind of like being hand in hand with your significant other.

juji

I have to say that I have three bottles of this glorious perfume and just adore it . But it is in no way similar to Fendi as mentioned previously by another reviewer. Not being snarky at all, but I wear both of these perfumes weekly and they aren't even in the same category.

KellyKel

Where's the almond? Where's the warm spicy? The woods...the sweet? I don't hate this because I love patchouli, but I may as well just wear patchouli oil and spend way less money.

This is a "statement perfume" for women.

NOTE TO CARTIER: PLEASE DO NOT DISCONTINUE BDD as it is in a top class of its own (better than similar perfumes/scents: Dior Hypnotic Poison, Tom Ford Black Orchid, Bvlgari Jasmine Noir, Chanel Coco Noir, etc.)I HOPE THAT THIS IS A KEEPER FOR CARTIER (please).

It is absolutely beautiful and classy, classy, classy.

I am ecstatic to have found it after a lengthy search attempting to find something close to the original Fendi perfume. IN FACT, BDD supersedes Fendi original perfume.

I LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT, and I am purchasing asap. BDD price at Cartier, Holt Renfrew, and The Bay is all the same, $173.00 CDN. Ill buy it at any price.

Over the last few years I've been pulling out my "big guns" during the onset of cooler weather here in the Sierra Nevadas: spicy, rich, high-quality, esoteric niche knockouts; precious vintages (with their exceptional, extinct ingredients); sweet, syrupy concoctions from every decade (because the more heavy stuff I smell that more desensitized I get and I just need BIGGER!)...

...but then I tried Le Baiser du Dragon EDT and realized that stepping away from the massive unisex spice bombs and the many permutations of expensive bread-pudding fragrances can be a very fresh choice.

This "Dragon's Kiss", though the EDT feels gentle, conveys much - warm and cool, energy and calm, modern and old-world. Bitter almond, resins and patchouli give this fragrance lift and warmth, orange and woods offer a rich, ancient feel, and iris, vetiver and a hint of juniper add a soothing breath to the composition. It feels softly floral and lightly herbal with an all-encompassing sweet warmth. When I smell Le Baiser du Dragon, I envision a smooth, cool jade stone; round, large and full of power. This fragrance is magical.

turtle91

Spicy and sourish like ginger and plum with woody notes. It is warm and quite masculine. Definitely a unisex fragrance. I think it suits mature or big-boned women who look strong. I read a review mentioning that Daenerys from Game of Thrones suits this fragrance but I don't think so. It is more suitable for Brienne of Tarth.

PSA: Be aware that this fragrance was discontinued for a while and recently re-launched (I'm not sure what year). Well now the batch codes for older bottles can be misleading. I own a 2005 30ml pure parfum but if you check the batch code today it will say Aug 2015. That's because Cartier reuses the batch codes every 10 years. So if you are looking for a bottle through other than authorized retail, be sure you know if you are getting a vintage or re-release. I saw a bottle on the 'bay' and the batch says 2013 but I'm not sure if it's really a 2013 or a 2003 (the original release year) Just sharing. :-)

I must be honest, & say I was swayed by the recent hysteria about this "must have" fragrance.I tracked it down, paid too much & am left with a nice (but just nice) Warmish, spicyish, many ishes but no real pizzazz.Sorry to all of you who love it, but not really me.

lotus and jasmine

Le Baiser du Dragon opens very boozy and bitter, with dry vetiver and patchouli forward, an almost brassy combination.

In the heart, LBdD remains green and spicy, but the chocolate note appears, and although this may seem like a strange combo, the darkness of the fatty chocolate smooths and mellows the woods, rounding the scent. At this point, LBdD is intriguing, but it remains a bit odd to my nose, due to its bitterness. I kinda like it, but I'm just not sure about it yet.

In the dry down the woods obtain an almost minty flavor, the chocolate deepens, and the bitter almond remains. Very warm, not too strong, distinctly different from anything else I've ever tested. The sillage contains this hint of a stale bartenders mat that I find disconcerting, the combination of the minty accord, and the bitter almond. I find myself wishing for the caramel note, or vanillic benzoin- this is a little *too* dry for my taste.

Overall, this is either not a good match to my skin chemistry, or the scent itself is not a good match to my personality. I feel like I smell of someone who had a bartender's mat full of stale beer and mint liqueur dumped over their head. Not a comfortable feeling for me. Have you ever met someone who had bathed and brushed their teeth, but still stunk of the night before, despite the mint on their breath? Yeah. That's what this smells like.

TEST and retest before buying. And do not wear this to the office unless you are SURE that it won't go funky on you. Because explaining to your boss that you aren't really trashed, it's the perfume you are wearing is unlikely to be persuasive...the smell is just too darn close to that "morning after" stink.

At the heart phase LBdD is definite fail for me. I can't help thinking that sweetening this might pull it into a better form. Next time I'm feeling brave, I'll try layering this with a sweet vanilla. But I think it's going to be a while before I give this one another chance. the whole drunken frat boy smell is just not for me. On the other hand, this is definitely unisex, so anyone who wants to revisit those days without the hangover- here ya go!

After about four hours, the rough night at the boozer phase passes, and the scent becomes minty dark earthy bitterness. I actually like this phase, but am unable to forgive the long lived heart...and that unfortunate accord. I would happily wear the dry down, but the heart is WHOA! in a bad way. And, to be honest, I'm worried that wearing this in different weather might trigger a reemergence of the heart as I go about my day. I will attempt this again- but it will be a carefully planned day where I interact with no one...just in case. For me, *huge* sillage, and very long lasting.

Purchased today from Harrods - oh gosh i am in heaven . I so love this fragrance it just makes me feel all womanly and sexy. I have now discovered they are also selling this in Selfridges.

6FeetOver

I couldn't wait to sniff the boozy almond/chocolaty caramel magic that the notes conjured in my "mind's nose." On my skin, this quickly morphed into the exact fragrance of a freshly-opened pack of scented Pampers® from the 1990s, with some spice. :(

Valentina_Dreams

I got this as a free sample when I bought a mini bottle of another Cartier perfume, and I wish I had bought this one instead of the other as a bottle! On me it makes me smell like butter rum, yet with a almost sandwood-y spice that just makes me feel sexy and warm, provoking compliments everywhere I go. I didn't expect that at all. Based on the reviews, I expected 'the Dragon' to kiss me harshly and make me stink like some drunk old lady, not so. This magically transforms me into a dragon lady! Reminds me of opium back in the day...

It's dark, sweet, very sophisticated, an expensive black dress kind of perfume best worn to impress, but can also work, for those of us who can pull it off, everyday at work when we want to feel most confident. This is a powerful signature scent. I love it.

theparfumfairy

Just what I needed, a grown and sexy perfume. I feel this scent can be worn year round in the evening. On my skin, I do not get the sweet or fruity notes. I get tons of spice, amber, and a little bit of almond.

RosieRachel

Baiser du Dragon is a comforting, warm, sensual and well-blended perfume that would be lovely for a lady. The dragon is a friendly one... that my skin has given the kiss of death haha. If almonds don't agree with your chemistry, my advice would be to skip this one entirely.

The perfume begins bitterly on my skin (beware the dragon's wrath). It's really not as loud as what I was expecting. The opening smells quite alcoholic and like ammonia to me (I'm guessing that amaretto doesn't agree with my chemistry). It then develops into a chemical sort of play dough (hello almonds), and it's very flat thereafter, as this continues into the dry-down. It's only a tiny bit spicy, quite warm from the amber and resinous notes, and it's not very sweet at all.

Very soft sillage, this is mostly a skin scent on me (hardly projects at all, although that's not a surprise considering that these notes are rubbish on my skin); lasts for about 3-4 hours. I wish you better luck with it :)

mildspicej17u55l

This should be opium and cinnabar's little sister that smells nothing like them. It evokes that same asian earthiness that they both carry. Don't be fooled by the chocolate ND caramel, it's miles away from teeny bopper body mist. This one is a must have for lovers of 70s and 80s statement maker perfumes. The almond and amoretto give it so much oomph.

Steleale

My ex sister in law used to wear it. I like this frag, it's feminine in a womanly way, I don't love the smelI...but I love it at the same time because whenever I smell it I think about her: I am an only child and she was like a sister to me, the sister i've never had. Now she lives far from my country, her brother and I had broken, but she is always in my thoughts and in my heart. What can I say? A fragrance, a smell can be a connection between people and his feelings and rimembrances and probably is because of this that I am in love with the frags world.

StopHammertime

At the opening, I really thought I was going to hate it. I don't even know how to describe the opening. Maybe, dead black flowers and patchouli floating in moldy alcohol. However, the drydown is pretty nice - mostly sharp, slightly minty vetiver with a little green feeling. Unfortunately it is not lasting very long on me. Once it gets to the nice part, it gets extremely soft and lasts about an hour before dying away.

juji

I. Am. In. Love.

From my manufacturers sample so graciously provided by tneequeenie!! The spices hit hard and hot with the sweet almond floating in and around a soft green patchouli. Other notes are hard to pick out as much. I may have found a close second to my top favorite perfumes! I tried a full spray at the Saks counter once but that was so incredible sweet compared to my new sample it's hard to believe! Until this sample arrived I was actually a little disappointed but wow!!!! I'm in love now and NEED a bottle! The problem now lies with the cost and availability factor and whether the bottle purchased is like the sample. Anyone not want theirs, lol?

mylena

This is one of those perfumes that, whether you like it or not, is just so incredibly different than anything out there, and exudes class. I have one that I bought about three years ago, before they reformulated it, and it's just so delicious! I can see where people are reminded of their old aunts, but On the right skin, this turns warm and so soft. It stays forever, and has great sillage. I haven't tried the new reformulated one, and I am a little scared of trying it and hating it, so I think I'll wait until mine is finished before I do. It truly is a masterpiece, if anything just because it does not try to be trendy, it just smells expensive and unique.

Ruffienne

Dammit but this one changes a lot from bottle to bottle!

I have a full bottle, a decant, and a spray sample and each of them has a distinctly different set of opening notes, although the drydown does bring them back into harmony.

The FB is old and hasn't been stored very well, and the opening notes remind me of warm, spiced... baby wipes. Sorry, but that's the truth of it. It's the prestige edition, but I think poor storage, rather than the specific edition, is the issue here.

The decant (from a well-kept FB) has wicked, wild, boozy opening notes. Definitely suitable for a confident woman out for a night on the arm of a successful man.

The sample spray opens lighter, and with a more pronounced almond note.

All of them mellow (relatively slowly) into a warm, pervasive and longlasting perfume suitable for the cooler months.
It's in the drydown that the amber and the mild, slightly generic spices come into play.
It's also at this point that you realise how sweet the perfume actually is - once the opening notes have burnt away.

While Le Baiser du Dragon is certainly a complex and attractive fragrance, I am not sure that it lives up to the drama and danger of it's name...

mvd99

I got a sample of this in EDP and was very much looking forwrd to it. On my skin it was so very faint. I mean super faint, almost nothing. I used up the entire sample and it was from Perfumed Court so I know it was fresh. I can detect all the notes except the almond but it's just so faint. As an almond lover, I was very bummed out. Body chemistry strikes again I suppose.

turtle91

The top notes smell a little like Chinese herbs. Probably the almonds. After a couple of minutes, it has a bit of furniture smell. I think this is called woody?

Coconutmusk

I have kept this one in the back of my mind for about 2 years now, thinking if I ever chance upon it I will HAVE to test it. From the notes and reviews I thought this would absolutely be my new best friend. I imagined a warm apple cider with a splash of Disaronno- spicy, a little sweet and comforting.
Well I couldn't stand the suspense any more and blind bought it last week, thinking there is no way this could go wrong. It arrived today and my first impressions are contradictory.
First off, it smells nothing like I had built it up for 2 years to smell like so thats maybe my fault. My very first thought was that, yes it does have that old 80's perfume table smell. But a rich lady from the 80's- either of the main ladies from Dynasty boudoir would smell like this. The first 5 minutes of this I get an Amber bomb and play-doh. My heart sunk a bit but I didn't give up hope that I might receive a nice dry down from this.
And I did. The dry down on me is quite soft, like the gaze of Krystle Carrington- no where near the icy stare of Alexis Carrington that it opens with.
Yes, I still feel the glamorous excess of the 80's through and through but it's not necessarily a bad thing.
It's not spicy like I wanted, I get a lot of the Iris, Amber and Vetiver. I really think this will grow on me, but for right now Im luke warm.

[email protected]

I love!

SlasherLady

No. Just no. It was like having a keg full of cloves shoved up my nose, along with gingersnap dough. Horribly sweet and cloying, and gave me a whopping head ache. I gave it to a friend who loves stuff like this.

PARFUM

...deep, dark, very complex. Sits heavy but unfolds beautifully for hours and hours (see my prior review for this one).

EDP (newer version, no character on cap)

...too much patchouli for my taste, this was my least favorite of the 3 concentrations. Had the earthen playdoh vibe of certain patches, amplified by the almond tones which can also sometimes go that way (think of the way a lot of people find Hypnotic Poison playdohy and it's not far off of that type of note mixed into a spicy woody scent). The vetiver was still very prominent but the delicious boozy quality of the parfum is lacking which makes it seem less sweet, too.

EDT (newer flat cap version)

I think this is my favorite of the 3 but it's been a while since I tried the parfum. Spicy woody and warm, with a kind of fizzy feel up close from the iris, and a non-sweet doughiness creating an interesting contrast (almond). Manages to keep flirting with the edge of a sweet note, but never gets there. Unfortunately the vetiver note is still a bit too sharp for me personally, but I find worn on fabric this note's really toned down and the sweetness of the almond/vanilla come out more: RECOMMEND IT ON FABRIC. Very nice on a scarf on a cool autumn day as it simmers with warmth. If it weren't for the sharpness I think this would be a big love for me, but my skin does amp vetiver.

carbocookie

I have 2 bottle of this, one vintage and now one reformulated (just bought today). I've put 2 sprays of the reformulation on the left wrist and 1 spray of the vintage on the right.

HUGE DIFFERENCE! While the basic scent profile is similar, the quality, sillage and how they develop on the skin is very different. The vintage's opening is dominated by a very boozy amaretto the heart has a much stronger presence of patchouli, chocolate and benzoin while the reformulation is more of a light powdery almond scent with the patchouli toned down in favour of the vetiver. The reformulation transitions to the drydown in the span of a few minutes leaving behind a light powdery floral and vetiver scent, while the drydown of the vintage takes much longer to get to and has a more balsamic, sweet finish. The vintage is also stronger and longer-lasting, I could smell it on my wrist from a foot away whereas my nose had to touch the wrist the reformulation was sprayed on. I can also still smell the vintage on myself after showering whereas the reformulation is undetectable.

If you like lighter powdery scents the reformulation should be fine (it still smells really good), but if you're looking for the intense, sexy fragrance promised in so many of these positive reviews, make sure you track down a bottle of the vintage, it is definitely better.

ellina1984

I initially smelt this on a friend (who's totally unaware of my perfume addiction)and was hooked. She was exuding a beautiful spicy aura, no florals.A cognac-like, aromatic cloud was wafting around her. I asked her what it was, and she said "Cartier". I then asked if it was "Baiser du dragon", as I had previously seen the notes and I somehow connected the dots. "Why, yes", she said. She explained it had been discontinued.
For the rest of the evening, I couldn't wait to get home and find a bottle online. And that's what I did.

Then my bottle came. I sprayed on my wrists and rubbed. I wanted to get rid of all the top notes and go straight to the part I had smelt. I sniffed my wrist. Nothing happened. The smell was clean. Gardenia soap, a slight spice wafting in the background. No cognac. No amaretto. No chocolate, no caramel. I let it dry down for 2 hours. Maybe it had been the drydown I had smelt on her. Still nothing. Just a faintly spicy gardenia.

So, unfortunately, this does not work for me. But I know it smells heavenly on the right chemistry. My friend can pull it off, I can't. One sad story.

Kanz Oman

Love at first try ! This smells heavenly amazing. Couldn't hold my self but buying it.

Sweetiekitty

It is not what I expected... I expected a big scary fragrance that had all these people shaking. No this is plush. Very full, very complex. You know how some fragrances have holes in them where you can perceive the individual notes? This is not like that. It's the difference between sinking your toes in a Target rug, or a $5,000 hand knotted silk rug from Turkey. Both do cover your floor, but one does it in much more sensuality and beauty. Likewise, this edp, melds with your skin and becomes you, but much more elegant and sensual. I think it may be love.

Tiger84

This is unlike anything else, such a masterpiece with a strong, tasty character, gourmand, fire and smoke, nuts, booze. Discontinuing it was the most insane mistake Cartier ever made. Good to know that it's been reissued. Deep, powerful, classy, makes a statement, lasts well.
I have the dab edition on the picture, just smaller bottle, and the Prestige edition, spray, and a bit different. Both are masterpieces.
Love the name and the oriental bottle, too! The name and the notes attracted me to this perfume, and the scent keeps me captivated.
Unique.

newbieScentLover

I love this fragrance, but I am having such a difficult time with the new formulation. The bottles of new formula EDP just don't last on me. At first I thought I was buying bad batches on e-bay, but then I went to N.M. (the only place that stocks retail) and spritzed on a sample/tester and got the same thing. Poof, gone in sixty seconds. I find the EDT lasts on me (probably because it's old formula) but the EDT isn't being produced any more. I recently grabbed a few bottles before they vanish forever.

zind

What just happened?!

I had been looking forward to try this and I was so disappointed the first time I tried it and didn't like it at all. I had received a bunch of samples and know that I should try one at a time, but I couldn't help myself (who can, anyway!?) My nose must have been totally confused and overwhelmed

Now, on the second try I love it just as much as I thought I would. I nearly blind bought it. What I love the most is that smoky, wonderful opening where the almonds are rocking the background in harmony with what I assume is the vetiver? It is so mysterious and amazing that I wish it could last and last and last.. Then a bit of the smoke and mystery disappears, but it's still unique and totally gorgeous. Unlike anything I've smelled. It seems like some find it very loud and intense, but I need to run and apply more because I can't get enough of it. yuuuuuummy!

I can see myself forcing my man to wear this too, I agree that it definitely works as a unisex perfume

UPDATE: I love this one so, so much, but it disappear so quickly on my skin and I have to stuff my nose in there to smell anything at all. I applied and applied, and then even applied some more when I thought I had really overdone it, but it's still very subtle on me. Oh how I wish it could be as intense on me as it sounds like some of you experience it! you lucky bastards! ;-)

Review for EdP

Very sweet but bitter and dry at the same time. To me it's like the base of Sycomore by Chanel (vetiver and dry woody notes) mix with the floral creaminess of L'Instant Magic by Guerlain

Perfect for both guys and girls for winter time.

tonkabeanster

Mixed review.

LBDD's opening is harsh yet bewitching: a dense, smouldering blast of bitter almonds, throaty patchouli and dark, exotic woods—equal parts sweetly herbaceous and pungently medicinal. Fifteen minutes on, however, this precarious balance falls apart. Cedar and vetiver, which typically lend a rich, earthy warmth to drydowns, are unpleasantly stale and chalky in this composition, underscored by a strangely fusty musk note.

The dragon's kiss may be enchanting, but only until you notice the halitosis.

Mooniq

Happy! I found myself a big bottle of this one, it was 2 or 3 years since I owned a Le Baiser de Dragon EdP - and now I do again. Its a great, great, great parfum!

Lycklig! Hittade en stor flaska av denna, det var 2 eller 3 år sen jag ägde en sist gång. Den är bara helt otroligt underbar!

HoneyPamela

I so wanted to like this fragrance because it’s Cartier, but unfortunately, I have tried it three different times and just do not like it. Luckily, I bought only a .25 fl oz online, and it came in beautiful packaging, deep red and black square box, wrapped in cellophane. The inside was covered in black paper velveteen where sat the embossed flacon. What can I say other than it starts off spicy and smelling of wood smoke, and then dries down to a sweet, smell of hippy candles, the ones that are messy and drip down on the sides of wine bottles from the 70's. Ugh.

ifjuly

The copy for this one doesn't sound quite my style--kinda old school classical and a little romantic/medieval--but let's give this a whirl!

Immediately it smells "perfume"-y, the way when you're very little and you go in to hug your grandma at an evening holiday party, when she's clad in a mink stole because that was still cool then and waxy lipstick and powder and hairspray and real pearls or gold jewelry, you get a whiff of her perfume. It's like that. Classic older lady who likes to have fun perfume. There's flowers and make up powder, lots of powder. But there's this edge of smoke and citrus too, even at the top, that keeps it from being boring or too prissy. It smells like her make up drawer, the tubes of lipstick encased in gold--waxy and a little warm, woody in a cedar chest way. Definitely smell the amber, musk, and benzoin that structures it all, feels like a very classic base composition. The amaretto and bitter almond aren't as strong as I was afraid they'd be, and the alcohol aspect of the amaretto isn't a burning fume type, which is a relief. I feel like I'm back in a wood-paneled '60s basement bar and the grown up relatives are all dolled up and smoking and drinking while I play with my toys on the retro carpet. This is made of good fuzzy faraway memories of women in my family who have been long gone.

ETA: the drydown on this is superb with my chemistry, sexy and animalic without becoming full on boudoirish. My cat, who seems obsessed with smells of any kind (she oughta become a perfume nose!), was rather fond of this one. And the longevity is one of the most impressive I've tried of late--I put it on at 2pm yesterday and can still smell it now, 23 hours later. It did give my bedsheets a faint BO odor early this morning, but everything that came before made it worth it, and by the time that starts in it's almost time to shower anyway...

nikkibom

I have really been wanting this for ages, have noticed it has become available once more online! Cannot help noticing that so many have compared to Gloria, which i already own, and am not that keen on. I would wear it at work and a colleague would start moaning that i smelled of cigars!!! maybe I will get it in the end - just to piss her off again!

mirrorghost

just went to nordstrom and sprayed some of this on after seeing it here on fragrantica! i must say, i really like this. it's more spicy-incensy at first with hints of almond and amaretto, but after awhile it becomes a spicy-sweet amaretto on me. it's warm and perfect for the cold months.

ETA: tried it again and i definitely pick up on the iris more, which is enjoyable. this is warm and comforting.

moreorlessa

I find the top notes form a very sticky syrupy licor smell, but the drydown is very classy, warm, delicious, adult, serious but comforting. It is a powerful and longlasting scent, but surprising behaved in sillage.

nayesha

I love it ... i am the kind of girl that sticks to only one perfume for many years and this was the one .. until i got fedup of the on and off the market ... leave it on the market or discontinue the product !

Daisycat18

I finally received this today after i snapped up a100mils from ebay. I agree with the others who laud this as an exotic, mesmerising fragrance. I love it. However it is very strong and is one if those either dabbed on or done the way she did it in BROADCAST NEWS.
Initially i got a strong menthol and was worried i'd done my dough on a pup. However it settled down within 1// hour and i got waves of the mixed notes. I. Am nit a person who likes citrus very much. But the citrus in this is discreetly layered with other notes and does not sear itself into the nose. But again, i recommend using it sparingly . Don't drench yourself or clothes as it will knock you out!!

samsara82

Dear Readers,

What can I say about the kiss of the celestial Dragon?.

All I can say was wow, Wow , WOW !
This perfume, is the majestic presence of the dragonian diva !.

Yes, it's truly an exotic majestic scent that has a lot of character and personality that is truly unique and flamboyant.
And the Dragon perfume is lush, regal and exotic for a person of acquire tastes. The blends of notes are fabulously orchestrated in this perfume that is a marvelously complex masterpiece.

This Dragonian Diva fragrance is lavish , exotically alluring , beguiling and mystical .
A mysterious scent of a lost age , where the earth was young and those of legends were present as we are today and the spirit of this fragrance has a tale to be told when it enwraps you with her ancient enchantment.

I love this fragrance !,
its pure exoticism of haunting oily Chinese gardenias, jasmines, oriental resins and the balsam here are blended with sophistication that commands respect and honor , it has the same air like Salvador Dali's fragrance which I own, definitely fabulous.
The scent is oriental and botanical in itself no doubt, but its hard to pin point what notes are standing out ,which is fine because it's blended together so in harmony that is just enrapturing to the senses.

On my body chemistry, it was a unique experience to inhale and the fragrance and I bonded magically. Is it a sexy scent ?
yes, it can be if your body chemistry makes it so.
Im delighted that now Cartier's fragrance are fancying my now adult body chemistry , for before in my teens and my 20's it had a severe way of saying "Not yet mortal".
But now both Pasha and Le Baiser du Dragon are going to be my new signature Day perfumes definitely very soon.

I highly recommend this for those who enjoy the exotic, sophistication and being assertive with grace .
This perfume is very exquisite gift but buyer..beware, try before you buy ,since this Dragon is very selective in choosing a barer of its fable name and powers but once you received its kiss of its fancy ,the kiss of the dragon is truly a celestial blessing.

Viva the crew and the house of Cartier !
and keep this perfume , I'm now your new devotee !

mossyoakpenn

The following review is really for my notes only, its very brief and leaves out a ton of details. Im just typing something that I remember each by. Im sure I will disrespect someones favorite fragrance too.

I hate to write a brief review on this one but I didn't get much time with it. I feel as if Im horribly disrespecting a Hall of Famer. Very complex and warm. I want to re-test this one!

Such a different opinions about the Dragon...And such straightforward notes.. amazing

When I was a teenager my favourite science fiction series were the ones about dragonriders of Pern, by Anne McCaffreys.
The riders have a telepathic bond with their dragons, formed by Impression at the dragon's hatching.
Once tiny dragon would catch yours and only yours look – you are bonded forever. Each dragon with certain character would choose someone (among humans) usually who would have similar inner qualities..great stories

The Dragon on my skin chose to be dreamy-sexy beast, no fire, nothing harsh at all, smooth, oily character, with narrowed from pleasure eyes...
Seems like he took me to the faraway land on exotic island where all is ready to have the night of your life..
But at the beginning you have to drink this boozy almond potion, which probably will turn you into dragon as well but you don't mind. You already drunk by this amazing mix of amber and patchouli, you fed by caramel and you led to sleep in the flower bed...
Hypnotic fragrance – and be you man or woman – once you been chosen – the pleasure is all yours.

The only one similar is one year older brother from same father (Morillas) – Armani Sensi. But in Sensi you will be the one who must seduce.

LuLuGoes

I have Le Baiser Du Dragon Cartier for women EDP.

It's perfectly named, but it could also be called breath of the dragon. It's very strong. After spraying it, the first three words that come to my mind are: dark, mythical, and potent.

Almond is present, but it's toasted in glowing embers of incense and scorched wood. And this will stay on your skin or clothing for a long, long time.

I wonder why this isn't categorized as a unisex fragrance. It's smoky sweet but definitely not feminine. It's alluring but not in a delicate way. It's more glowing and magnetic, like a fire crackling at night.

Other members compare this to Gloria by Cacharel (a discontinued rarity that also gets compared to Serge Lutens Rahat Loukoum). I've never smelled Gloria, but the descriptions sound very almond-rich and sugary. I can't imagine Gloria's bright, feminine cherry-topped bottle holding anything that compares to Le Baiser. But maybe the comparisons are valid.

I love the Le Baiser bottle, an Asian-inspried fish bowl with a black spike through its center. I'll need more time with this one. But I'm captivated.

kris919

this didn't work on me. I bought this for the almond & amaretto notes which I thought were going to be the most prominent, but all I got was strong vetiver which smells very "green", also very powdery like vintage face powder from an old woman's makeup bag. I'll stick with Hypnotic Poison for my almond fix
