Imperial Saphir by Charriol is a Chypre Floral fragrance for women. Imperial Saphir was launched in 2012. Imperial Saphir was created by Michel Almairac and Mylène Alran. Top notes are Incense, Freesia and Sicilian Bergamot; middle notes are Orchid, Turkish Rose and Indian Jasmine; base notes are Indonesian Patchouli Leaf, Sandalwood and Musk.

Luxury jewelry collection by prominent jeweler Charriol has welcomed another fragrance for women that will rise women during the day and at night, highlighting their beauty and making them even more exciting and attractive. When creating the new fragrance by Charriol, designers were inspired by sapphire gemstone, a symbol of wealth, strength and purity. According to legend, it has the power to make life more beautiful!

New olfactory charm - Charriol Imperial Saphir, features stylish, luxurious and glamorous elements that complement the wonderful world of Charriol. The fragrance was created by two perfumers Michel Almairac and Mylene Alran and who gave it chypre-floral character. Ode to sensuality opens with notes of Sicilian bergamot, incense and floral accords of freesia. The heart incorporates Turkish rose, Indian jasmine and orchid blossoms, while the base caresses Indonesian patchouli, musk and sandalwood.

The distinctive bottle is colored in royal blue and adorned with gold details and a ring that is placed around the neck of the bottle. The ring can be removed and worn separately (just like last year's edition of Imperial Ruby - see the article from TFWA 2011). The ring in gold color is decorated with dark blue crystals. The new fragrance is available as 30 and 100 ml EDP.

Got a sample of this, quite nice, familliar to my nose. Ok, found it, another flanker of Flowerbomb. Not close to Jimmy Choo or Angel, the later has chocholate, coconut and caramel whitch this one has not. This one is a very powdery, musky, sweet patchouli with a hint of rose and spice. If you love Flowerbomb, La vie est Belle, Black Opium then this one is for you!

Addendum: if anyone is interested in swapping a decant of Imperial Saphir or EDP in exchange for a decant of Imperial Ruby, please PM.

At this point, the most significant thing I can say about Saphir is that I much prefer it over Charriol EDP. The EDP calls too much of Angel in my mind, and I am firmly in the camp of those who really dislike Angel. It's not a dislike, and I may grow to like it, but never as much as Saphir.
I purchased both blind at the same time - such affordable buys - and decided to immediately test them both at the same time. The EDP overpowered Saphir so much that my nose could barely detect anything from it on my opposite hand! Today, I have given Saphir a proper trial and find it to be a lovely floral/woody incense, with a non-aggressive patch. I am somewhat at a loss when it comes to identifying orchid (TF Velvet Orchid is no help), but it clearly leads to a sweet floral accord in combination with the rose and jasmine. I really enjoy the sandalwood, which slowly emerges through the middle and into the base notes, providing a creaminess I think helps dispel some of the sharper, dirtier aspects of patchouli I find so unpleasant.
I think it's a big mistake to write this off as just another patch/rose dominant creation. Overall, it's is well blended, with moderate to large silage and longevity depending upon how much you spray and how quickly your skin devours fragrance. I find three to be perfect when I want to be noticed but not shout my presence or fill a room. I also think it's unique enough to add to any collector's scent wardrobe, unlike the EDP with it's sweeter, Angel-like composition. Unless of course that's what you're looking for. It's exceptional for the price, and I can see myself reaching for it on many different occasions.

Hmm....... Jimmy Choo? Is that you?
Smell very similar in warm weather (which is my case for 90% of the year).

This is light & delicious with counterpoints playing masterfully in the blend. There is a smoky, incense darkness to the fragrance threaded through with a sweet, gourmand delicacy that makes this blend almost gourmand.
There is freesia at the top that dances through the heart of this fragrance making it almost magical. I find Imperial-Saphir soft, light and almost creamy. This is not a powerhouse but the performance is decent for this price point and the silage is steady & light.

In my opinion, this would be safe blind buy and would be very wearable in a variety of settings. Its inherent lightness makes Imperial-Saphir more suited to Spring/Fall & Summer but anytime, really. Day or night.
Because the drydown is powdery, I think the fragrance leans feminine, however male or female, if you like a light sexy, grown-up gourmand you should definitely give Imperial-Saphir a try.

The bottle looks so elegant, expensive, mysterious and it is heavy. Around the neck, there's a detachable, good quality gold and navy blue crystal ring you can wear, I wear mine on my index finger. Seriously, for that gorgeous piece of ring alone, this fragrance is worth hunting for

This doesn't smell like chypre at all. Indeed it is simmilar to Angel, a softer version of it.

I bought this in sample because of the great reviews in fragantica. The first thing I get, this reminds me of Thierry Mugler's Angel on the first spray. What makes it similar is the smell of sweet delicacy, but with the smell of intense smell of incense notes on the dry down. This is indeed one of unique scent, great one for winter.

I don't know if I will get the full bottle of this after I finished my TM Angel, however if you like TM Angel but people around you is not comfortable with it, I would recommend this as the safer version of that because I know Angel is not everyone's cup of tea.

Does anyone know where I can find a bottle of this? I have Charriol EdP and love it so much I'd like to have this also. The note pyramid sounds divine!
I live in Australia. Thanks.

Now that I own saphir and have used it couple of times,I think it's the right time to write my second review
I still believe it's more an oriental floral or woody or vanilla ,not a chyper, still don't detect patch here,or much floral notes,it's all about a very rich, creamy note,so warm and round that seems caramelized but now I guess that it may be sandalwood,it's freshened a bit by something like orange(perhaps bergamot) and softly smoked by incense, there is also soft, velvet powders dominant to my nose,I believe it's orchid and maybe this powderyness keeps it so deliciously feminine
It's notes may sound masculine.I'd never try it if I saw sandalwood, patchouli and incense as it's most rated notes, but I highly suggest you to give it a try, specially if you're looking for a grown up and sexy gourmand or oriental vanilla.it's so good that if it was produced by lancome,LVEB wouldn't be it's bestseller anymore or if it was made by dior,it could be a new poison
All in all it's very well made, well blended and balanced,it's warm, very cozy,a tad smoky, sweet but not in a cavity inducing lollipop-ish way..it's rich, deep, soft, rounded and delicious,so inviting and addictive.comforting and at the same time amazingly seductive..longevity and sillage are great,I mean really great and I also love the bottle and the ring
Happy to have it in my collection

Tested this one today and I just loved it,now I am pretty shocked to see notes, what I tested as charriol Saphir was a warm, delicious, cozy caramelized vanilla with a sweet orange undertone,it reminded me delicious biscuits which I love...there was no patchouli for sure(And I have a sensitive nose to patch),no floral notes,no orchid..was sandal playing role of vanilla and bergamot as orange to my nose?!!the only note I am sure about is intense
I was going to believe my nose has tricked me if I was alone, but One of friends tested and loved this too,and this makes two of us to find Saphir a delicious, sophisticated gourmand
I'm going to test it for several times and solve this puzzle,I've never faced such a thing!!!

So I finally got my hands on this after eyeballing it for quite some time. I admit my birthstone is sapphire, combined with how pretty I know Charriol's bottles always are, I just hoped the scent was as good as it sounded.
So is it? Why yes it is! If you're going to fork out the dough for this one try to find a bottle with the lid because the way Charriol's bottles look is always classy, and frankly it makes you feel better about the cost, not gonna lie.

When I saw how people ranked the notes I was amazed to see musk and patchouli at the top. Saphir is far from a patchouli monster, and I am no fan of tons of musk.

I was thinking there should be a cherry note listed (not cough syrup Cherry, cherry in the air maybe) as part of the main notes, but then I realized something. Most of us have buried our nose in a freesia or two. They're all a bit different, but some are fairly sweet and slightly fruity, this is what I notice the most in Saphir. A hint of incense, noticeable but soft, and you have a very nice perfume that doesn't make me think of something else. It's sweet like so many are, but it won't cause a toothache. If it gets on my clothes Saphir doesn't change. If it doesn't the dry down eventually shows something reminiscent of patchouli, very soft and easy, not what we're used to.
Worth it, get it while you can. :)

The greatest parfum of the world. I tested a lot of parfum in my life but I found it the best one. Elegant, unique, amazing. When I use it, everyone would like to know my "secret":-)This fragrance is like an intelligent "wind" which is "flying" near me whole day. Charriol, thank you! You will be always my favourite:-)

born for shalimar

I can't believe how nobody commented on this yet, it's a jewel!!
I love most of Charriol's perfumes, I've the Charriol EDP (that i can't find anymore, but i absolutely love it, I had 2).

ANYWAY, on with my review hehe.
I sprayed it 4-6 hours ago and it's still on my skin even though i washed my hand a lot (and with soap), so it has a good staying power. The sillage is good too I'm not sure if it's heavy as someone voted but it's def noticeable.
When you first spray it you can smell the incense, jasmine, bergamot and a peppery scent which is probably the freesia and the rose note is lovely.
Can i say that the dry down is amazing? IT IS AMAZING; Sandalwood and patchouli are one of my favorite combinations ever, flawless. Orchid gives it a slightly powdery feel and musk anchors the perfume.
There's also a really sweet scent in the dry down i'm not sure what is it.

Lovely for winter and fall, could get away with it in spring as well I guess. A day and night scent i'm sure it's perfect for both but depends on how you wear it. More chic and elegant than casual. It's a really elegant and sophisticated perfume. I love it and i'll get it soon :D

Oh and i forgot to add, at first spritz i thought i smelled vodka? and it wasn't me!! hahahaha
