Hypnotic Poison Eau Secrete by Dior is a Amber Floral fragrance for women. Hypnotic Poison Eau Secrete was launched in 2013. The nose behind this fragrance is François Demachy. Top notes are Sicilian Mandarin, Italian Orange and Calabrian bergamot; middle notes are Jasmine Sambac and Tunisian Neroli; base note is Vanilla.

Perhaps the most famous fragrance line from Dior, Poison Collection, has been expended by another edition of its Hypnotic branch. The original Hypnotic Poison was introduced in 1998; Hypnotic Poison Eau Sensuelle version saw the light of day in 2010 and now we have Hypnotic Poison Eau Secrete coming out in January 2013.

Hypnotic Poison Eau Secrete, like every scent of this collection, smells of fatal attraction, extreme sensuality and seduction. The new version refrains from vulgarity and advocates a more subtle approach though.

Elegant, oriental as well as fresh, it begins with citrus burst of Sicilian mandarin, orange and Calabria bergamot. Its heart is dominated by intense accord of Sambac jasmine mixed with Tunisian neroli. The base features distinctive vanilla aroma, which is the signature of Hypnotic Poison collection. Francois Demachy signs the composition.

The face of the campaign shot by Steven Meisel is French actress Melanie Laurent. The fragrance is available as 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette.

Sadly this fragrance was pretty disappointing. There is nothing bad about it, but there is also nothing great. It smells quite pleasant. A bit of a mash up of Hypnotic Poison and Poison Girl, but missing everything that makes both of those fragrances special. It's a pretty linear fragrance, a light, white floral vanilla with a bit of orange far in the background. Every so often I get a little bite (a hint of citrus bitterness) from the neroli that almost makes this fragrance a bit more interesting. Unfortunately that is fleeting and infrequent, so Hypnotic Poison Eau Secrete remanis bland and generic.

I would say this fragrance could be worn by anyone at any time. Not because it is so appealing that everyone will like it, but because it is so boring it won't really speak to anyone, but it's pleasant enough, no one will find it offensive. I do think this would be a little better in warmer weather. I have been wearing this on sunny, mild fall days and it does smell a bit nicer when I am inside the house where it is warmer. I have noticed that is when the neroli is most present.

The longevity of this fragrance is actually pretty good. I have worn it a couple times and it lasts most of the day, 8+ hours. The down side is that it is very soft and close to the skin. For the first 1-2 hours is projects well within arms reach, just a couple inches from skin. After that it is a skin scent.

I have almost blind bought this fragrance quite a few times, but the price has always been just a bit more than I was willing to gamble on this one. Now that I have a decant, I am so glad I didn't purchase this one blind, because I would have been disappointed. The bottle is so pretty though...

It seems reviewers felt Secrete was a fall/winter scent. I tried it in winter and it wasnt right. It sat in my collection for 2 yrs untouched. Fast forward to May '22 Springtime- Secrete just blooms and everything locks into place. Leave winter to HP, and Midnight Poison.

Its orangeblossom/citrus/sweet vanilla hp accord just works. Its not as heavy as HP and the citrus keeps this from cloying. The neroli and jasmine are sexy .

Its a new fave. Who knew. Its important to try your bottles in different seasons. I think this is the forerunner to Herreras gourmand white floral GoodGirl series

I bought this one used. I only get a faint Vanilla/jasmin vibe, and it stays close to the skin.
I was hoping for a little more power, like dior Addict 2014... I dont know this, scent, but maybe it just is so vauge, or my bottle had turned. 😬
The batch code says that it is made in 2015.

Just finished last drops of my sample. Shame it's discontinued, it's a really lovely lighter fresher version of Hypnotic Poison. Doesn't smell too similar, especially in the opening with citrus, but that fades quite quickly and you are greeted with a familiar play-doh scent that the original has. It's warm, sweet, cozy, sensual and inviting, it has a creamy or milky quality, so I was surprised not to see almond listed in the notes. Actually this doesn't smell at all like I'd expect from the notes, I get a gently sweet gourmand. Projection is good, lasts over 10h on me.

I'm playing this game where I smell one of my decants and try to come up with notes in it (before looking it up), and well... I would have sworn this is a cherry dominant perfume. Epic fail !

Eau Secrete is sightly similar to Hypnotic Poison but not that much at all (I wouldn't have picked up on it being a flanker if it wasn't for the name). I love how Dior does this white floral vanilla combo! It could be good for someone that likes the HP vibes but hates that artificial smelling marzipan vibe (I personally like HP but instead of fresh almonds I got a lot of sugary marzipan).

kaise77

smells like citrus in the opening, ends with a beautiful tonka bean. Do not overspray! my husband says it chokes him out in the car!!!

mellyv1973

This is a lighter version of Hypnotic Poison to me, but pink pepper seems to emanate from my skin for the first 30 minutes or so. Strange. Perhaps it's the bergamot? After that, I get a pleasant vanilla meshed with a light white floral scent. I do prefer the original. If the original is too strong or cloying for you, you may enjoy this flanker.

Aland2020

This is a much more wearable version of Hypnotic Poison for me. At first when I apply this that same generic vanilla that Dior uses in their fragrances is present. With the original, there's also a strong almond note which veers off into the direction of smelling like Playdoh. There's no almond note in here so that scent is avoided, but I found myself actually preferring the original at first because that one was at least interesting and slightly more groundbreaking. But then, after waiting around an hour or so, I started to get whiffs of the nicest aroma. There were now florals present, I would've guessed ylang ylang or frangipani (something more yellow rather than white) with a touch of citrus in the form of a creamy orange smell. It's almost transformed into a musky creamsicle. As it dries down into its final stages, there's that signature mentholated root beer smell to the vanilla note, which has been present throughout all the stages of this fragrance. I'm pleasantly surprised by the way this develops and tranforms throughout the wearing. The original HP doesn't do that, it just smells like Playdoh on me the entire time. While this one is lighter and doesn't perform quite as well, I feel like it's a good tradeoff for a scent that's more nuanced and wearable. I'm really glad I took a chance on this one.

JSpines

I like this "lighter" version as much as the original. Sometimes when I wear the original Hypnotic Poison, it literally makes me feel a little nauseous and headachey. There is something in it that's a tad overpowering and heavy causing it to be too much for my nose to handle. With the Eau Secrete version, it still has the same feel as the original but just lighter, fresher and easier for me to wear. I like the vanilla and citrus in this one and I am not missing that almond note the original has at all. I'm thrilled to finally find a Hypnotic Poison version that I love and can wear all year around!

victoria.mei1992

It such a mysterious scent. Cannot describe it, it's so smooth, like bergamot, mixed with some vanilla beans, bittery sweet. Just wow!

KittyDeBeauvoir

I had a sample of this provided for me by a Myers retailer, and - it smelt amazing!
I've never had this perfume enough in the forefront of my mind to purchase it again (being Dior, it never comes down - even remotely - in price), but I remember loving the scent on me.
Very strange because I can't stand the original Poison perfume!
This was ace, though!

I have a decant of this and kept it in favour of the full bottle I’d purchased. The stuff in the full bottle just didn’t last, whereas the decant went on for hours. You wouldn’t believe my disappointment.

This, to me, from the decant, is a much more elegant version of Hypnotic Poison. It’s kept the root beer & rubbery tuberose and added loads of jasmine and bitter orange oils. The vanilla is light and airy. It lasts 12+ hours. The stuff in the full bottle lasted 1 hour. Kinda like Hypnotic Poison EDT does on me, vintage and current. Maybe I was just never meant to own it.

camden-girl

Slightly softer version of edp,not exactly secret either, she packs a nice punch still ! A citrusy hypnotic poison, with a creamy and fruity feel, nice. My daughter could smell this on me when I did a school run so you can smell it, maybe not as much as the other versions but enough.
I'd say this is one you will reach for , do you need it if you have the edp or sensuelle ?
Hell yeah !! :)
its a perfect summer version of the edp, i feel its more like the edp, more
citrisy and refreshing version of the edp, not so much like eau sensuelle,
eau senuselle being flowers and powder and no real licorice notes,
this beauty has the edps licorice vibe, but brighter.

By way there are fakes of this , in 100 ml and they look very similar
But there’s bubbles in the glass and the scent is very watery and only a tiny bit like the original. Try to get batch number etc I wonder if the people who dislike this perfume got a fake ?

hsheep

Secrete is essentially HP Sensuelle Light, they are very similar scents. I actually trend more towards Secrete than Sensuelle because of its lightness, I find Sensuelle a bit more cloying. This one you can spray to your hearts content and it won't clog up your nose. It's more transparent, fresher and airier than it's sister. It could possibly mean less longer wearing, which I find to a point, but I prefer softer scents anyway. I don't mind spraying this one a few times a day.
The slightly spiced candied orange is at the forefront, backed up by some powdery icing sugar and vanilla. Soft and light florals float all around it. I can definitely smell some orange fudge going on. I find this one has a more woody vibe to it that's hiding behind everything. It's slightly more grounded than Sensuelle, but that's just my chemistry, this one works better for me.
I don't find it similar to the original HP at all.

denizandbeyond_4

Super sexy oriental spicy mystic scent!
I can't see many similarities with other HPs.There are no spicy notes like Hypnotic Poison EDP/EDT but I can smell fresh spicy oriental notes. Its fascinating!

Gellert77

This scent reminds me of soft liquorice candy (fudge) that has some lemon essence in it, and/or of a liquorice candy that is stuffed with some lemon (fudge) filling.
For some reson I get a strong scent of (edible) liquorice with a citrus aroma. For me this scent is quite far from the vanilla/almond aroma of Hypnotic Poison EDT and although much fresher, closer to Hypnotic Poison EDP. A surprisingly zesty and crisp member of the Hypnotic Poison family.

chloematilda

This is a mouthwatering citrus confection that surrounds you in summery white florals and semi sweet vanilla powdered citrus.

The florals are delicate and smooth - and blend perfectly with the citrus. I get a hit of bergamot in the opening, but it recedes nicely into a gorgeous citrus mix that doesn't "turn" the way a lot of citrus fragrances can. This stays fresh, sweet and powdery for 6-7 hours on me and has a decent projection, but it's beautiful, summery and soft and won't offend.

I love this - it's moved quite quickly up my favourites list, and as it appears to be discontinued already, made sure I squirreled away a backup bottle. Might have to find one more....maybe two....

Harpalike

It smells as nice and delicate locum. Very light flowers, mainly orange blossoms, delicate almond shreds and orange peel, all these sweets dusted with powdered sugar.
Very cozy, comforting, fine and addictive. Close to the skin, yet long-living.

EllenD1991

Blind bought this from Boots (UK beauty and chemist shop). It was on the clearance rail for just under £38 (100ml).

Because I ADORE the first and original Hypnotic Poison, I thought this was too good to miss, and it must be similar to the original. I had ran out of HP a few months prior.

I must say I am slightly disappointed. On first spray this is very citrus' musk to me and barely resembles the original HP. However, once it settles it begins to resemble it much more, I detect the vanilla and the more gourmand notes begin to show. This is where I enjoy the scent and enjoy sniffing my wrists. I do however feel like this EDT is more mature and doesn't really suit a woman in her mid 20's, maybe suitable for an older lady.

The scent is far more faint than the original HP, even the HP EDT is stronger than this one. The longevity is not very good at all. The sillage is also very slight, and it can barely be detected unless you sniff up close...

Unfortunately this is a weaker, less impressive version of HP. I will be using it as a day perfume at work as it is inoffensive but it has absolutely no wow factor unlike the original.

Maybe this is why it was on the clearance rail! Oh well. Another perfume for my collection so all isn't lost.

supertw94109

Smells like a simpler, fruitier, fresher, less long lasting EDP but with slightly "woody" note and not much like the super smokey, sweet, almondy EDT. At first I didn't like it because of the differences because I really wished that Dior would come up with a combination of fruity, smokey, almondy ultimate Hypnotic Poison but I have come to appreciate both this version and the EdP. As the fruit is so dark plummy and seductive and not the ordinary juicy tartness.

camden-girl

I really love this , well I would as it's a little like HP eau sensuelle, still its
not a clone of it as miss sensuelle is longer lasting and more sweeter with an icing sugar or cake frosting powdery vanilla, eau secrete is more like warm citrus with maybe a tiny bit of orange and Licorice but still a little frosting or gourmand vanilla, it's DIVINE !
There is a little différences between them but there are many similarities too.
If you have one you may not need the other unless hypnotic poison is your favourite then you may want every Flanker ever made :) ( me too )
I truly understand :)

I reach for this a LOT, its warmth is wonderful and it's a mysterious fragrance that I personally feel reeled in by. Yes it's anoying that secrète is a little fleeting I do wish she lasted longer but in fairness this was not a bottle of water it was what it states a softer version of hypnotic poison maybe a perfect summer version !
I know eau secrete gets stick for replacing eau sensuelle but to me I love them both and as I say there are slight differences so I feel happy to own both and note the slightly different feelings they give me.
I can't see how anyone can dislike this , it's a lovely soft version of HP.

Edit : use this all the time so it's a LOVE for me.
However there's similaritys to hypnotic poison EDP,
Wow that's some good juice , all the HP are good but the edp is extra ! Love it !

( 2 yrs on , as much as i love HP eau sensuelle , it got kinda cloying over time.
eau secrete does not get jarry at all and its stronger than its secrete name appears!)

mschnabel666

I found this on ebay for a good price, and I love HP EDT (original formula- which I have) and the current EDP... so I thought why not?

Well.... sure... for those with sensitive noses-- this is a great alternative to the potent, gourmand, thick, strong HP original. (I have not smelled the current glass bottle, I have the rubbery looking red glass bottle).
Secrete is a lighter, more floral, way tamed down version. Yes, it smells watered down. I don't have a sensitive nose, and I love potent bomb perfumes. So Secrete is a disappointment. But I do like it.... for what it is.
In the brief beginning I get orange/citrus/licorice (?), then a soft floral heart, and finally a light HP drydown- soft powdery vanilla. I swear I get the powder almond of HP... and slight licorice... but they aren't notes?

Anyways, not a great Dior scent by any means, but I dig it. I'll try in the summer. Right now it's below 0 and snowing about 4 inches per day (sometimes 12 inches a day) so I'm loving my super thick gourmie scents. I'll save this for summer.

Very very little sillage, and didn't last on my shirt thru the night. (HP EDT AND EDP last on clothing for weeks)

Palmee

A beautiful fragrance. I wish it had a bit more projection but I suppose that's why it's called eau secrete, as quite an intimate scent. It starts with soft citrus and I smell the sambac jasmine projecting through. The magic starts to happen about half hour later once it starts to warm on your skin and the hypnotic vanilla shines through. I love this perfume! I find the similarity more so with the EDP rather than the EDT. The bottle is stunning, so glad to have this in my Poison collection.

Edit
I find if I have a double spritz, this actually does really project on me.

mshell

I put this on last night & my brother said how much it reminded him of the smell of a barber shop, in a good way. First time I ever heard it described like that!

jockinjb

This is a younger, lighter, lush, juicy version of HP. I find this one is perfect for summer days when it's just too hot to pull off the original Hypnotic Poison. True Hypnotic Poison junkies need this in their collection.

Blossom Dreams

I wore HP 14 years ago when my husband and I first met and have moved on. However, I saw the bottle to Eau Secret yesterday, and it has to be the most divine fragrance bottle I've ever seen. To me, it's a nice twist with still a bit of the original HP but some citrus in there, too. I think I'll get a bottle before CD inevitably discontinues it.

EDIT: Ye Gods! I just rang the store and they said it was discontinued in April! I'm going to race there and buy some before they're all gone.

EDIT: Got a nice new 50ml bottle sitting in my collection now.

moreorlessa

I feel like this one gets a lot of harsh criticism because it came out as they were discontinuing Eau Sensuelle, which I wish I had tested more thoroughly, so it's seen as a poor replacement. I appreciate that Eau Secrete is no where as sweet as the original HP. I think it projects really nicely in the first couple of hours, but I agree about its longevity. Nonetheless, I find myself craving this perfume quite often (a feat considering the size of my wardrobe). It's less gourmand than the original, more botanical and feels woody and almost smokey, though I have no idea how from looking at the notes. There's an air of mystery in there that I find hard to describe. I see at least one person has thus far agreed with my suggestion that this is similar to Eclat Manifesto...glad I'm not crazy.

Revontuli

My interest in Hypnotic Poison has always been on and off; I loved it on the first try and wanted to buy, but then it felt too ordinary, and then came the reformula which, I still think, is not worth buying. But I found Eau secrete in a great sale and being a fragrance lover... I couldn't pass. It's very citrusy on my skin in the opening but it turns into a soft vanilla-almond (although not listed, I can clearly detect it) which is not as strong as the original EdP. And I think this is why I really like this fragrance, I can use it during the daytime as well, not heavy. And it is really long lasting on my skin.

Edemay

This smells like lime zest with powdery icing sugar.
To me this is quite gourmand and if not for the floral notes it would probably smell like a cake.
I notice neroli in the dry down but cannot really detect the mandarin or orange.

daisyvision

Only vaguely similar to its namesake, Eau Secrete is a little less vanilla, and a lot more citrus. The citrus is juicy in its opening, but bitter in its drydown. I'm afraid I can't say much more than that - as it takes almost no time at all for this one to start fading away. Though it's a pleasant scent, it's not quite Dior quality, and not reminiscent enough of its predecessor. Sillage and longevity are quite weak, as well. All I can conclude is that though Eau Secrete is just not worth its pricetag.

Cinlee

The original Hypnotic Poison is my favourite perfume, I was given a bottle of this by a dear friend who thought she was buying me my favourite Hypnotic Poison. Sadly I think she was duped by the sales girl and even more disappointing is that I know she would have paid top dollar for it. I don't have the heart to tell her this is a waste of money. Eau Secrete, is a weak watered down version the original HP, it's a shame because I quite like the way it smells, just hugely disappointed with silage and longevity. This lasts around 30 - 40 mins on my skin and for me that's a big waste of money!! If I'm going to pay between $130 - $160au for a bottle of perfume it damn well better last 8 or more hours and have great silage. I feel so bad, that I don't have the heart to tell my dear friend that her thoughtful and generous gift isn't at all my beloved Hypnotic Poison, but a watered down imposter.

amirali0072000

citrus and vanilla scent..it starts with Sicilian Mandarin and bergamot ..
it hast very beautiful vanilla dry down...
I love this perfume of dior..
Longevity is good.. It stays 6 hours for me
but Sillage is moderate
certainly it's lighter version of the original(Hypnotic-Poison)..

nightcutter

This is beautiful. But where does it go? It has no lasting power at all. And that is a tragedy given just how lovely it is. It's not listed but I get a subtle liquorice aroma amongst the usual lush vanilla. I love this but would never buy it. Wise up Dior!

fullbottleworthy

Take HP Eau Sensuelle, add some citrus and flowers, and a TON of WATER, and BOOM! Eau Secrete is born. I'm sorry to say but every HP EDT that has come out in the last 5 (or more) years has been a sad, watery shadow of its former self, although I do LOVE Eau Sensuelle. Some say this is a more "wearable" version, but so is Eau Sensuelle, and it's a far superior perfume than this. If you compare Eau Secrete to the original HP (which you are allowed to do since it's a flanker!) you just get disappointment and sadness. Sorry if that's harsh but hardcore HP and Dior fans will feel my pain....

The only light at the end of the tunnel is the new HP EDP, which somewhat makes up for this horrible flanker!

velvetnightmares

I love the original Hypnotic poison, but it is very "mature" for me, and I will only wear it on special occasions. This one, is warmer and a bit lighter. It definitely have the same sweetness to it as the original, and the vanilla is really coming through, in a deep, powdery warm and sensual way, but also the bergamot is very noticeable on me. That was the first note I picked up on, before even looking up the notes. But this is definitely a more youthful and sensual/flirtatious version of the original hypnotic poison.

margarita.angelova

To me this smells like lavender... Lavender and vanilla.

It has the vibe of Lolita Lempicka by Lolita Lempicka, which I adore and therefore I like this one as well.
It's sweet but the fresher kind of sweet I would wear gladly in colder, preferably rainy days to beautify my melancholic mood.
It has real chances to enter my collection.

ScarlettX

It's good. Much better than Eau Sensuelle. Mostly it's floral fruity with strong vanilla note. Sweet and warm.
Not as strong as original Hypnotic Poison. A milder and more easy-going version.
Nice!

genny17

This is an updated review..
This is different from hypnotic Poison, HP is a powerful scent, whether you like it, or not...Eau secrete to me is pleasant , light, very wearable, but I have never gotten one single compliment wearing it!? It falls short of being a Dior, it is more demure..I like to smell it on other people more than wearing it myself..it just doesn't quite satisfy me, it falls short somewhere...although I love the notes the result is a bit yes, dull, I agree...I can't see it being a floral oriental really, more a soft gourmand maybe...
I think it could have been so much more than what it ended up being, like unfinished!?

Bublegum

The opening is the same to the classical Hypnotic Poison and the drydown is a little watered down, along with some flowery notes that they are not that obvious. A lot of people are asking me if I am wearing Hypnotic Poison whenever I wear this, meaning that If you don't sniff it all the time, in order to distinct the notes, or if you are not that much into fragrances, you won't see any difference. For me, it doesn't worth to have all the flacons. They are very similar and even the occasions you can warn them is the same. This one has less sillage and longevity comparing to the original.

Andorsia

I find this scent so divine. It is creamy, warm (although fresh), sensuous, exclusive and just about all things right. The only downside is the longevity. An hour of bliss and then boom, fade to nothing. A heavy spray of this gets it going. I have found love and will run out of it quickly.

victoria.mei1992

Strongest is bitter orange smell, and feels like dirty, like in DKNY My NY. To spicy, hate patchouli and bitter oranges.
Drydown is good, vanilla is mild, not suffocating.
Similar to poison but not as suffocatind and almondy. But has a lot similarity.

Arlene-Beatrix

Lovely vanilla scent! It could be described shortly as a cloud of immense, cozy pleasure. Perfect for cold and mid season. It makes me close my eyes and think about something pleasant. All notes are remarkably good!

Update: Jasmine & neroli are totally hypnotizing, but vanilla tames them. Very cuddly scent!

Aline Ribeiro

It's a watered down fruity version of the tradicional Hypnotic Poison. I hated.

Coffee King

Very warm and sensual, just lacks the hypnotic knockout punch of the edp, surprisingly light considering it's poison.

xclairabellax

I actually really like this, I`m suprised actually.

Reading the reviews on here I expected a weak rotten smell that was an insult to its predecessors!

However, this is just what I needed it to be...I long for Hypnotic poison EDT but find it too bitter on my skin, I ADORE the EDP with a passion and could bathe in it.... and the eau sensuelle, I like on paper but its too harsh on my senses to actually wear.

So.. this is perfect for me. I get a taste of what my senses are desperate to enjoy, but alas and tragically cannot.

Its a fresher and kinder Hypnotic poison, but not to be dismissed or underestimated. It will still draw in it`s victims - they just wont know it!

karlee79

omg this is soooo gorgeous! It's intoxicating. I reminds me of pipe tobacco. I also reminds me of Alien Liquor but way sweeter and not so potent. it's way better than the original, it's the only one thay truly smells the same yet completley different.I find the original is dry and sharp almost peppery. This is juicy, it has more body and has this distinctive smell that you get a whiff of every now and again days and days after you spray on your coat. Easily a perfume one can make a signature and people will know that's your smell. Just incredible.

rickyrebarco

This is the only one of the Poison or Hypnotic Poison flankers that I have been able to wear thus far in my exploration of this line. Eau Secrete is a real beauty, as others have said. Well blended with gorgeous fruity floral notes. The orange and citrus notes with the neroli blossoms and jasmine give a beautiful soft aura to the fragrance. I feel like I can smell rose in this juice- I definitely think it's there.

I love the way it dries down with the vanilla, gorgeous florals and some wood notes remaining for hours. I will definitely wear this one and I'm ordering a back-up bottle. Something about it reminds me a bit of Cartier's Baiser du Dragon- it's more the sensibility of the perfume and the "feel" of it than the notes. Both are stunning.

bronstein

This one is very similar to the standard Hypnotic Poison; maybe less almond, more sugar. Not really necessary, but also not a failure. It's obviously a try to get those who already own the whole Poison product range to buy yet another bottle.

evacecilias

A fresh lighter easier to wear take on the original HP.
The essence is fresher feather light and has an aura of the vanille capturing you like beeing wrapped up in a soft warm cosy blanket.
This is to be worn whenever you wan't as it wears light and close to you.
No sharp edges , or morphing into something you do'n't want it to be....
This is my best Poison ever .

vesna

I adore Hypnotic Poison’s divine vanilla-almond-coconut-sandal velvety aura but cannot wear it since it’s too intensive for me, not to say suffocating. And finally I found Hypnotic Poison Eau Secrete - very pleasant and sublime in all its phases from the top notes to dry down, even though not so complex as HP. No note is loud or boring. Its beauty is in the perfectly balanced vanilla with orange/mandarin and jasmine. It stays close to the skin and gives feeling of warmth. Its longevity is moderate, so this could have been better as expected from Dior. Anyway, if you like whispering perfume, test it. It is simply lovely.

missk

Dior's Hypnotic Poison Eau Secrete is yet another flanker from the ever popular Hypnotic Poison series, first released way back in 1998. I am one of those unfortunate people that struggle to wear the original Hypnotic Poison. It's not the nicest scent on my skin; usually a mixture of play-doh and cake batter. However I have not given up hope, and will continue to test its flankers until I find a Hypnotic Poison that works for me.

Hypnotic Poison Eau Secrete is surprisingly subdued, a softer scent when compared to its predecessors. Vanilla is still a dominant presence in this flanker, however the gourmand element appears to have been cast aside.

This flanker is a delicate, somewhat powdery blend of vanilla, jasmine and citrus, (a lot less complex than the original). It could be considered a warm weather alternative, or just a less intense take on the distinctive Hypnotic Poison.

In all honesty, whilst Hypnotic Poison Eau Secrete wears better on me than the original, I find the vanilla note a little bland and flat in this flanker. It seems to have lost a lot of its seductive charm.

The longevity is fairly impressive, however the sillage tends to be rather intimate on the skin. Hypnotic Poison Eau Secrete is definitely worth testing, although I'm not sure how long it will last on the shelves. I get the impression that this is just another limited edition.

I have honestly tried to love HP. I adore it from the bottle but when on me I get splitting migraines. So I was presented with this one, and here is my idea. It is a comfort perfue, much easier to wear than HP. It has no almond, more citrus, less vanilla. If you love the original and can stand wearing it at broad daylight, DON'T buy it. I bet you will be disappointed. I bought and people compliment me, but hey, I NEVER could pull this perfume through during the day or in the hot , sunny weather of Greece.
Yet, this is strong and long lasting, but if you are a repaet HP customer, stick to it, don't buy this one. Just my idea

Mooniq

A lovely sister to the original Hypnotic Poison. A little bit softer but with the warm Vanilla all thru the pyramid. The flowernotes are a bit sweeter. A lot like the original Hypnotic Poison in my opinion but a bit more modern.

En ljuvlig syster till originalet Hypnotic Poison. Lite mjukare, varmare och lite "lättare" men med samma vaniljton rakt igenom pyramiden. Blomnoterna är lite sötare. Väldigt lik originalet Hypnotic Poison men lite mer modern.

Love, love, love it. Smells wonderfull!!!! I can' t stop smelling it!!

xrayer

Today I went in to town to try J'adore and also tried a spray of this on my other arm. I am captivated by the deliciousness of this perfume, yes it was citrusy for a moment but has quickly morphed into a gorgeous warm orange vanilla dry down. I do sense some similarity with my HP Sensuelle but in all honestly this is much easier to wear and I would feel more than comfortable wearing this in the daytime whereas HP Sensuelle is more suited to evening. It is lighter than the original but still has great longevity and just a whisper of sillage which is perfect for me.

Shwets

Love this! The sensuelle was too strong on jasmine and went sour on my skin. Imagine that is softened and Eau Secret is so much softer, prettier and delicate. Sillage is low to medium but appears to last long.

This is my fav of the hypnotic range.

alchemist1976stephanie

This is nice, but nothing special. It is like a slightly watered down version of Valentina Assoluto. It's quiet, sweet and comfy. Kind of that fabric softener feel to it. Not worth the price though given the lack of originality.

hermyonee

didn't believe Dior could do even worse that Eau Sensuelle, after they already screwed the original HP version by reformulating it several times... yet guys they did it, great job... :p a watery, tasteless, ordinary vanilla with some orange blossom and a light jasmine note it's all what's left form the masterpiece that was the true HP, the one i loved as my signature fragrance for 10 years! RIP ...
THis is just one more vanillish-floral-fruity quite cheap girly mainstream! nothing better that any celeb' frag', not worth the price tag for sure.

Germany

I love this one!!! To sum it up its a sweet citrusy vanilla scent. Same family as manifesto I would group those two together. Citrus , warm , classy , elegant, grown up jasmine, vanilla scent. Quite gorgeous and definitely one of my favorites that I would never want to miss!

chain

I considered getting these since l love the old HP however can not recognize it any more due to the reformulation of Hypnotic Poison, tested it yesterday verdict:In the beginning this smells like HP just fruity, however it lacks character sprayed it and could not smell a thing after few minutes ,l kept sniffing the sprayed point,in my desire to invoke the usual classical HP smell but hell no this is softer than a body mist if u want HP please get the reformulated one rather than Le Secret(just saying)

darksome

EDIT!!!:
I didn't know, but I my review was for Eau Sensuelle, not Secrete! I edited that. Well now I understand why so many prefer Sensuelle before Secrete. Secrete is less sweet, fresher and just an half of an hour and "puff" it's gone.

Just pick Eau Sensuelle, if you want something with an aura of the original Hypnotic Poison, but with a more sophisticated feel.

Anup

Very different from it's mother. The only thing shared between them (to my nose) being jasmine and vanilla, but the vanilla in this is different as well.

The opening heralds in a nearly vibrating accord of citrus-zests (albeit synthetic) along side a larger than life bergamot (think Shalimar). The opening also has some aniseed behaviors and the citrus-y notes come off very "Chanel" in presentation.
Moving into the middlenotes, I am astounded. I can actually detect both jasmine AND neroli. The jasmine used in this fragrance reminds me of the sambac used in the Alien "aqua chic" not the same as the jasmine used in the orignal Alien. Now that I mention it, this jasmine note bears a lot of similarities to the original Hypnotic poison in the way that the jasmine is sort of this portal into the "pool" that is the basenotes. This transitionary note, I like and enjoy very much. The neroli "orange blossom" in this case is merely there to provide some agressive powdery lift to the composition. Now on to the base notes, or the base "accord" as I would put it, thats the way it comes off in this scent anyways. Much like the original the base notes aren't separated but just hang there (albeit light in this fragrance) like a amorphous haze. I get a neutered vanilla note smeared against a grainy yet smooth woody/white musk. (think Mon Jasmine Noir) Overall the base isn't disappointing which is good seeing as that's what you're going to be stuck with for a good 70% of this fragrances life on the skin. It isn't foody like Hypnotic poison is, but it still retains a good bit of sweetness without becoming obnoxious. It doesn't last long nor does it project outward in the dry cooler months, but in warmer weather this is a beauty. I am convinced that's what Dior was aiming to accomplish with this fragrance. Marketing Hypnotic poison as a summer fragrance. I couldn't be happier.

calaira.maria

I've made one conclusion due to Hypnotic Poison versions - every next one is just more diluted original HP. They just loose some vanilla and sweetness, become lighter, but they're still the same HP, only a little blured. It's like an old photography that looses colours, sharpness and the soul. I have the old version of original Hypnotic Poison and it's the only one that I like.

agnes.marti2

IMO: it was my first test on my skin. I think it’s the original HP base, and the New Addict mix. I love the original HP, but a bit bored of it. The New Addict right now is my new love. So I will test it again, but I think it’s a very good combination. I like it!

Marangoni

This is sooo far from the original, how could they even call it Hypnotic Poison? Not an ounce of the magic. Can't even call it a perfume, it doesn't even stick to the paper I tested it on, and disappeared from my skin within minutes. Hypnotic Poison is not meant to be invisible, this one definitely is. How long do we have to stand Mr.Demachy ruining all those gorgeous classics such as Fahrenheit and Hypnotic Poison? Dior, please stop that madness.

iremz

i tried today. i think it s same with original one. They added just fresh citrus notes and remove heavy almondy, vanilla notes.

napiergirl

I have been wearing this for a week now and although I expected the original to be in this just a little , and also expected something different from the listed notes ...without the expectations , with a totally open mind I find this a beautiful perfume .Consider it a light oriental .Wearable during the the day , without being too safe , nor too sexy ...but it does have sexy going on ..all the poisons do .My nose smells all kind of notes not listed so I would suggest this would be 100% worth trying as long as you dont over think it and guess what it will be like ..try it without with a open mind and heart and you will fall in love with it as I have.

napiergirl

This on me smells mainly of ylang ylang and lily...Am I the only one who gets a ylang ylang vibe going on with this ?Nice and decent staying power ,but not what i expected ...and ylang ylang and lily are not even in this .??

Annah7

Beautiful fragrance, good lasting power. I noticed, however, that just after 10 minutes it turns into a copy of Laura Biagiotti Roma! I have and love Roma and was hoping for something different..

1Tanya

I like the original and the Eau Sensuelle version is one of my absolute favorites. I was expecting another great Poison fragrance by Dior and I must say that now I am very disappointed. I have tried this perfume 2 times, because I just couldn't believe that it's not good at all. It smells like Eau Sensuelle, but simplified (or rather overpowered) by 4 tons of vanilla. Staying power is very weak, unlike it's predecessors. All I get is a lot of unappealing synthetic sweet vanilla. If you like this perfume, I suggest you try Eau Sensuelle, because you will get much more quality for the money. It's even the same damn bottle but more stretched. I don't understand why Dior has made this fragrance in the first place. I guess they will sell us anything with a new advert nowadays.

Kazorwaman

I am not quite agree with "CIOGHIUZEL".
This perfume is NOT supposed to be like original one: Poison. "Hypnotic Poison Eau Secrete" is a lighter/different version of the original one.
I am not a fan of vanilla, but this one has captivated me with its freshness, being alittle bit sour and some notes of masculinity at the drydown - around 6 houres after test! You say this parfume dosn`n last long?
You won`t get a sillage from this one, but the one who gets close enough to you will feel/smell the parfume without being saffocated.
One really should try "Hypnotic Poison Eau Secrete" to decide if it is your kind of parfume.

suesue

I hate original HP, but i really like HP eau sensuelle. Tried this one today, i really liked the opening. But - whats left after 1 oder 2 hours? Something really cheap-smelling, really synthetical... Smells like any cheap drugstore-perfume. :( Not worth calling it HP.. Sad.

CIOGHIUZEL

1:Bottle looks amazing
2:Fragrance inside: R u fo real? It s not even close to the original,I m smelling it on my hand right now...sour vanilla!!!
3:Stick to the original guys
It s my scent for 10 years now when Monica comes out that door "hold the f*****g phone"

Migalex

Because I do not like the original hypnotic poison at all, I do like the opening of this one better, because it mixes citrus with the base of the original one, which for a while I find quite pleasant. After one hour or so, it starts smelling practically like the original one, although much fainter. It is very weak, staying power is quite poor, and silage is none. I cannot believe it does not have almond note in it because after the opning it smells very similar to the original, although softer. I would say id does have less almond in fact, compared to the amount of vanilla, but I think it is still there or at least a similar effect.

Evengelia

This is like a blast of original poison with a delicious punchy zest of citrus along with it...i do miss the creaminess though that you get from the almonds in the original juice.

The powder is really strong and the top notes are by far the lovliest things about it. Im smelling my wrist as i write this which i blasted with a very generous sample i was gifted last week by the counter girl.

It really lacks the vanilla smoothness that i was expecting, to me, the vanilla is original HP is a special, far more superior vanilla than the regular candy smelling rubbish out there...i feel like the signature vanilla is replaced by the powder. But of course, this is nothing like original HP. So good for you Dior :)

I cant get over the powder. It is, to me, the strongest note. I lose all the citrus after 30 seconds on my skin.

To me this is so different from HP, i could possibly be a distant cousin. It could just be called Eau Secrete by Dior and have nothing to do with Hypnotic Poison and no one would ever think it to be related.

Its lovely yes...its punchy and soft and sweet and powdery at the same time. I wish there was more citrus and less powder though.

jchaddad

The first burst is great, I appreciate the citrus, but after 30 minutes to an hour, it dries down to smell exactly like the original Hypnotic Poison and the citrus pretty much vanishes off my radar. Unless you're a huge citrus/vanilla collector, you might as well just invest in the original hypnotic poison.

RyanLovesFragrances

I was so happy to finally see this at one of my local Dior counters. It had its own little shelf behind the counter since it's so new. The lady sprayed it on a card for me and I was immediately pleased by the scent. It's a warm, citrusy floral with an extreme sensual feel. I still picked up on an almond note like in the original, even though it is not listed. I could not stop sniffing this one! I enjoyed the transition from refreshing mandarin orange to warm & sensual vanilla. To sum it up, I'd say that Hypnotic Poison Eau Secrete is a mature, classy & elegant fragrance that oozes fresh citrus juices and oriental, warm vanilla. All tied together in a simply beautiful bottle.

Red Rose

Just tried this & it smells so citrusy in the first opening & the dry down is vanillic, I think it's similar to the previous one from the same collection.

vdxl

Great bottle, interesting top notes, but dull candy like vanilla notes. Not like hypnotic poison or hypnotic poison sensuelle: this is like a candy version of the original one. Made for teens. Mismarketed? yes...Fruity floral vanilla? Definitely... If only it kept the beginning, it would have been a marvelous unisex creation. If you want a fresher Hypnotic Poison ( same VIBE, not fragrance), even if you are a woman, why not trying the orange blossom-violet-suede like Aqua Fahrenheit?

MoreScentsThanSense

I can't really see many similarities with other HPs.
Nevertheless it's easy to like this fragrance, there isn't much complexity going on.
It's a soft, creamy vanilla with fresh bergamot and the shy presence of jasmine. Certainly very wearable.
Starts fruitier and goes on sweeter as time goes by, but it will not end up cloying.
Doesn't project much, though. If I received it as a gift I would use it happily but won't rush to buy a bottle myself.
I suppose it will be a hit for the upcoming spring/ summer but don't think it's a potential classic...

genny17

The top notes are an energetic burst of citrus , a bit bitter, I thought oh oh I don't like that but it is gone real fast and then the Eau Sensuelle character appears in Eau Secrete, the neroli and vanilla give it a gourmand accord almost almondish, this is really pretty, and yes not heady .it isn't oldish at all, just stylish and high class . I didn't quite like Eau Sensuelle it didn't do much for me , I like Eau Secrete better although it is lighter , but in a smooth creamy way so I don't mind. Eau Secrete is to me the most wearable HP underrated too.
Lovely.

pukkolandia

Nothing new, original or special here. Always the same idea of old family. Probably my grandma could love it. Old generation smell.

RedLady

HP Eau Secrete is definitely the weaker sister of HP Eau Sensuelle (which I love).
When I wear Eau Sensuelle, people smell me coming a mile off - in a good way. The sillage on that one is brilliant. It is also lasts a good 8 hours on me.

Eau Secrete, for some reason has virtually no sillage at all! Which is weird cos I thought "How different could they possibly be?" But they are! Eau Secrete sticks very, very close to the skin.

Sorry Eau Secrete, staying loyal to Eau Sensuelle.

Evangeline Caridad

I felt in love with this perfume, Not overpowering subtle gentle smell without putting more. It stays 6 hours for me. I love the gorgeous red bottle. The same like my Red Lipstick. The price is so exorbitant. Well, The Price goes with quality. I love the smell of it. My Friends says, It for evening wear. I don't mind what they say. I will wear it anyway, Morning or Evening wear.doesn't matter to me.- I make myself happy. I am not pleasing others but Myself indeed.

ruski-lady

I tried this on my skin today. I like it but my unrefined nose can't really tell much difference between this and eau sensuelle? They both seem to fulfill a similar purpose - a lighter, perhaps more wearable version of the original. The original will always be a classic and it's potency is amazing however this is a nice alternative when you don't wish to blow everyone away with your scent. I can't see a reason why you would have both eau sensuelle and this one though.

HLVTCA09

Very disappointed :( i LOVE all the hypnotic poisons but this doesn't deserve being in the same family. it first smells like lemon-cookie dough... then it dries down to something that might have been HP a long time ago... it lasted a little more than an hour on my skin.

auroramaria

I've actually tried this today, was really looking forward to it but this scent lasts less than a body mist!
The actual scent is really lovely, it is basically a fresher version of HP still retainig its beautiful vanilla dry down, although at some point I perceived a note very similar to Diptyque Philosikos'fig (no fig in the composition I know) and Sambac jasmine all the way.
Very attractive fragrance, while it lasts, but longevity is nil so sadly I'll have to pass.

mich19

I have been dying to try this & was sooooo excited when I saw it today in myer (for those Aussies who are interested, it was $170 for the 100ml & $125 for the 50ml). I am obsessed with the original hypnotic poison & I love eau sensulle too, so I had high hopes for this one. I must mention that I personally like heavier fragrances & am so disapointed that this one is not.

There is no doubt that this fragrance is definitely gorgeous. On first spray, it opens with a burst of citrus & then shortly after the florals come out. Within half an hour, the beautiful, distinctive, creamy vanilla aroma that we all know from hypnotic poison becomes evident and it's divine! However, this fragrance it is much fresher, lighter & more subtle than the other hypnotic poisons. It certainly has staying power ( I sprayed about 6 sprays & it lasted 6-8 hours on my skin) but the sillage is weak. On me i find the other hypnotic poisons have enormous sillage.

When I first saw the bottle at the counter, I was convinced I'd be buying a bottle immediately. However, I ended up walking away without one. I was really suprised that I was able to do this, but I really would prefer to wear a perfume that others can smell on me. All throughout the day I constantly asked my husband if he could smell it on me & he couldn't unless he put my wrist right up to his nose. He said to me, "what's the point of buying it when you have to put your nose on your skin to smell it?". I agree & although I desperately want to go back to the shops tomorrow to get some (just because it is so divine) I will have to control myself, as I know I'll be upset with its sillage.

For those of you who do like hypnotic poison but think it is too strong & you are looking for something lighter & more subtle, I'm sure you'll love this one.

It really is a stunning, smooth fragrance, just not strong enough for me personally. If it were stronger, I'd have bought it in a heartbeat.

kayla.ramires

Very excited to smell this!!!

hermyonee

oh my God... could they do even worse again? wasn't it enough already to had messed the original one, that was so unique, and it's now the mere shadow of its former self! it has been washed off, reformulated, it lost it density, personality ... less everything, synthetic!
But not satisfied by thia already marketing-formulated version, they created that sugary-watery common kinda vanillic orange blossomed " Eau Sensuelle" ... ( it that their idea for sensuality...wow... enough said)
So now, my question is, what Mr Demachy has eventually found to make it even worse? What new marketing inquiry, mainstream, brilliantly vulgar & common version have they bottled ? So away from the original, daring, devilish, sexy,, toxic one; like no other. Such a waste... merci Dior pour nous faire rever...

Londonchick

Notably the advertising says its "less vulgar more subtle" - IMO the original wasn't exactly vulgar, perhaps a heady and in your face but I doubt it's original fans, and possibly target audience are looking for 'subtle' !!!!
Notes look simple yet good I look forward to a sniff.

kitten_steele

Someone loves this without having smelled it(since it's not out yet)?? Or has this person got a sample? In that case, why not write a review about it for us curious people.

the_spiral

SO excited to hear about this! I wore the original HP for years and then it suddenly turned "weird" on me (maybe my body chemistry changed?), and I've been wearing HP Eau Sensuelle ever since. I will be getting this as soon as it's available and posting a (hopefully positive) review. I'm a bit cautious about the increased citrus notes and lack of almond, but to be honest I'm in love with this whole fragrance family! So I'll give it a generous chance.

apollinne

Love the bottle design.. Can't wait for it!

RedLady

I love my Hypnotic Poison Eau Sensuelle so I will definitely be checking this out.

Raquel73

I´m wishing test it :-)))
