Tumulte Christian Lacroix for women

Forget the flowers of the girls, the notes of innocent roses that report calm, peace and perennial warmth. Tumult is a very crazy atomic bomb of overwhelming density that does not forgive anyone who crosses its path. In me, it penetrates the bones and does not show signs of volatilizing in the next 30 hours. Despite the issue of lasting and projecting a fragrance being very subjective, it even on those who have frog skin drizzled with Komodo dragon fixed and exhales very well!

I feel resignation for not having known this delight for a longer time, just because of the same being from a House which I always 'judged' not so important to my perfumery interests, a big mistake, I screwed up and thought it was not enough. I had won a bottle of Tumulte and it was kept there, until I applied it on the skin and was really captivated by its adult floral combination and with high oriental kicks, based on spices, resins and makeup aspects! I'm using it a lot these days and even in warmer temperatures it's been doing well, getting a dirty Musk with a skin smell.

Tumulte, for sure, has a lot to offer in addition to that lace bottle of yours that reminds you of Portuguese embroidery done by more than one hand... Your Musk, as I've already mentioned, works even in the heat, and leaves a feeling of comfort and after that it refers to the seduction so notorious that it becomes addictive the way in which they managed to bring this load of Musk and he has not been vulgarized in the meantime. If one day you have the opportunity to know, acquire, and even if the characteristics of this type of fragrance pleases you, invest, go deep because it is wild and deserves, yes, attention!

I bought a bottle of Tumulte in the 90's and still have it. Such a decorative bottle. A very unique rose. It hasn't lost a note, I am pleased to say. I don't even want to think about what Avon has done with Christian Lacroix. I won't buy any of their offerings. I won't go there.

Wonderful rose perfume

massive musk with tonka then some heliotrope, juicy fruit, heliotrope and freesia, patchouli, then the rose develops. I would not call this jammy. It's just a sweet fruity rose. Very unique and pretty! The final drydown is completely a smooth, creamy tonka.

One of my most favourite designers roses and has a lot in common with Brulure De Rose of PG indeed. I had Tumulte before I tried Burlure and always thought how innovative this smell is, in many ways better and more skilfully crafted than most designer's roses. It is more oriental than floral, sweet, but salty-fresh at the same time, - think of candied by salty caramel non-dry rose petals, - nuanced and aromatic.

Rose and patch are topped up with mandarin zest. I agree with reviewer I.I who have noticed "liquor - cognac " quality in this juice. There is something intoxicating in how Tumulte projects, - very party-like.
The bottle/packaging suits to this fragrance perfectly.

Rose jam, yes! A luscious, gooey-thick, floral jam. Sweet like a vanilla cookie/biscuit with a tangy bit of patchouli.

I do love rose fragrances both soliflore & beautiful blends and I've come to love vanilla gourmands. Tumulte is the best of both worlds - a pure rose floral but with a gourmand vanilla twist. I wouldn't have described Tumulte as a strawberry filled doughnut -as did a reviewer below- but I certainly understand how a nose other than mine might "get" Tumulte that way. There's a definite "baked goods" vibe to the vanilla aspect.

While I don't wear Tumulte often I enjoy the rose/vanilla elixir enough to have purchased a back-up bottle. If you love roses you definitely owe it to yourself to sample Tumulte. I'll wager a full bottle will be on your wish list shortly thereafter.

P.S. If you love vintage Tocade you will love Tumulte.

Rose petal jam.

Up top, a not very attractive synthetic fruity floral, but the drydown is heaven - a real true red rose with vanilla. I don't detect any patchouli. It has very good projection - wearing it on just one wrist, I keep getting whiffs of it a full arm's length away and thinking 'what smells so nice?'. I have it in a miniature and might buy another - not full bottle worthy.

A solid entry to the patchy rose trope of fragrance. I have tried quite a few in the genre and Perles de Lalique seems to be my favorite thus far (yes, even beating Midnight Poison in my book).

I don't detect any tonka in this, actually. Just a musky, patchy rose with a fruity twist. Certainly doesn't feel like a 2005 type of fragrance, it gives fragrant beauties of the past a quite literal nod. I am reminded of the original Agent Provocateur perfume, the same type of modern impression but still paying homage to vintage elegance.

My first impression was blast of alcohol and then bitter slightly spicy powder...and more powder, rather bitter, masculine, more dusty, more grassy than sweet. But I was patient and tried it again. I don' t know what has changed...it is getting warmer outside, is that it? This starts definately growing on me. I've learnt to appreciate this scent. It is a very peculiar interesting take on rose. Smoky aromatic rose...slighly bitter-sweet,dusty powdery, perfectly balanced. Very special. I apply more than three spritzes to smell it to the full. Patchouli is not bothering me anymore, it seems to balance the sweetness of rose and tonka. Drydown is sweet tonka and rose. I would use it for special occasions...with someone special...

This is a Paradise of creamy, resinous rose with the gentlest and prettiest patch I have ever smelled! Smooth, silky rose, not too sweet or dry, just the way I like it, with a touch of zesty heliotrope. There is a vintage feel to it but make no mistake! This is not a dated juice, on the contrary, it is timeless. Though not a crowd pleaser yet won't offend due to its ethereal, balanced mixing of the notes. Very good for the coming warmer weather (still waiting for that in the UK...). This is one of my best roses, thank you PlanetX for this beautiful new addition to my wardrobe!

This is pure heaven. I haven't encountered a bottle in a long time so to my surprise there it was in a shop on Orchard Road in Singapore. It's the rose mixed with patchouli that makes it sensual but the tonka bean makes it special and potent. One sprits and 3 hours later it is still performing beautifully on my skin. Class perfume.

It was love from the second sniff. I fell for it when I hit sillage of my own wool shawl the next after day I had been out wearing this perfume. I caught lipstick from the past, powder blissfulness and amazing feminine vibe. I got dirty twist in a bed of lush roses, I got lived in womanly scent of a lady properly dressed to charm. It was a mesmerizing dance of classic notes and their modern interpretation.

This scent definitely has its meat in patchouli and earthy notes (a flower bed has some soil in there). The trace it leaves is a procreation of soft musk, heliotrope, cosmetic roses (think lancome powders of chanel blush) and a dash of je ne sais quoi. I am thrilled.

Oh my...I've been searching and searching for the perfect sweet rose scent with some character - one that's not sugary or screechy or sickeningly berry-jammy, and...this is JUST what I've been looking for!!!

Tumulte is a stunning, dewy, candied red rose scent. At times I get visions of caramel coated roses. The rose is smooth but strong. The tonka bean is voluptuous without being too much - not too thick, not too heavy, just enough to give the rose some oomph, while also toning it down.

And when I say Tumulte is sweet, again, I don't mean in the sugary sense. It might be a little jammy in the thickness, but there are no berries. No toast or biscuits allowed here. I won't even mention the other notes. They're there but only in the background.

An amazingly sensual, romantic, sexy perfume.

On my clothes, the rose stays stronger for a longer period of time. On skin, the sweetness from the tonka comes out quicker. Either way, yum yum yum!

If you are thinking about paying a very high price for this one, I suggest sampling Teint de Neige by Lorenzo Villoresi first. The quality difference is huge, IMO, and TdN is incredibly strong, so you might only need half a spritz!

Tumulte is a mess, but what a lovely mess ;). A rosejam and patchouli concoction amped up with a lot of sweet tonka that in the end cooks down to something lotion like. I like it a lot but for me it takes a certain mood to wear it: I need to feel careless, flirtatious and daring in order to put it on. I wish it was the other way around, that Tumulte made me feel that way ;).

Was given to me as a gift from a dear friend. Reminds me of Flower Party by Yves Rocher. Both not my typical style although I can pull them of every once in a while in search for energy and fun. Both have mandarin/orange as a top/dominant note. Mostly for day but I wore Tumulte at night but it smells artificial at darkness, it needs sun to be taken nicely.

I admit that when I went to the Palace of Versailles, I was not a fan of French Baroque. I was raised in a small city near the beach, and wasn’t accustomed to the over the top architecture, the intricate styling, all the gilded metals, and the chaotic mix of pattern over pattern. At the time it seemed like just too much of a good thing.

It was the couture dresses by Christian Lacroix in the 1980s that caught my attention. He used vibrant colors in Baroque designs with lots of gilded metal, jewels, and beading that were so over the top they redefined my ideas of beauty. His use of the lightest, most ethereal lace over super busy floral patterns is my favorite of his designs.

This same aesthetic is how he has approached the art of perfumery. Tumulte has a bright vivid rose intensified with a warm tonka, texturized by a musk and earthy patchouli base, with a veil of lacy but vivid freesia, and airy heliotrope all accented by a gilded iris. There are no gourmand notes, but the layering makes it read as sweetened candied rose. It’s the first perfume I’ve ever worn that is like wearing a tapestry of layered patterns. The effect is at once completely feminine, vivid, fresh, and exquisitely beautiful.

Christian Lacroix's Tumulte for me is opens with a heady embrace of mandarin orange and pepper and dries down to a lovely powdery drydown of rose and vanilla sugar. I am a bit wary of the musk in this fragrance as it sort of creates a jarring effect with the heavy tonka bean fragrance. Yet the smell of roses is more dominant, not too sweet and with a comfortable sillage as long as sprayed lightly. With all the drama, it lasts only 5-6 hours on me and requires a second round of spraying.

Yet, somehow Tumulte is just what the name implies - it does try to be an intense yet chaotic fragrance. It doesn't take much for it to become overpowering, so one does need to spray with a lighter hand. Even the bold and festive patterns on the bottle depict the dramatic melange of fragrances inside.

I am usually a fan of clean fresh floral fragrances and this is nothing like my usual favorites. While I am not sure I'll re-stock it, I do love to spray it sometimes on cooler nights. The husband finds the fragrance sexy, so that's an added bonus!

Even though the main accords not mentioning sweet, but this is the note that came to my mind when i 1st smelled it. Sweet in a good way plus woody.

I Was given a sample of this beauty. Oh , how I love it ! Sweet powdery roses, and patchouli. I have been saving ,hoarding it , taking it out for a little spritz once in a blue moon .I need to just go ahead and get a fb . I adore it.

Was given as a gift and I think I may have taken this amazing perfume for granted... I crave this scent! The initial spray is a rush that gets my heart in a flutter followed by the dry down which is sweet but not sickly. Very sensual in the way that it makes you want to take risks and believe that anything is possible. Inspirational a real treat.

The package is one of my favorites, Oriental Red, yup that sold it too, but content most importantly has complete olfactory appeal for my taste.

Tumulte opens up on me with an overly sweet yet dirty burnt cotton candy smell. The opening lasts more than an hour. Finally by hour 2, the sweet rose smell comes shining through. To my nose, it is a sweet pink rose. I love this phase quite a lot. Overall lasting power is only 4-5 hours on me and waiting for the rose to emerge is hard because of that opening smell. A fun scent to keep on testing and getting to know. While I love the bottle, I can't justify a purchase of this due to the opening smell.

When I wear it everybody thinks that is a children perfume.It's too sweet but not only that it's kind of romantic-sexy. Playfull in any case. I like to wear it but I don't know what about the others that they don't

Love, love love! It´s a sweet, warm and soft classic. Very cozy at least on my skin. If you love the sweet ones this is definitely a try and must have.

This is very very very sweet, kinda reminds me of berry jam bubbling away or a berry liquer. I don't get any other notes at all and to me, just a quick glance at the bottle evokes the image of Moulin Rogue (I think it' s the colour of the bottle). Contrary to the review below, in my head the woman who wears this would be a courtisane...nevertheless a classy one. Sorry if anyone is offended. It is a reasonably nice fragrance, suited better for a cold wintry day but I shan't be rushing out to buy a full bottle.

Just bought my first bottle of Tumulte based on reviews on this site and the fact that I love Christian Lacroix's other perfumes. Wow! I love it! On this crisp winter morning it smells warm and sweet but not sickly - attar of roses and Turkish Delight and a deep comforting glow on drydown - this will be worn all winter long!

You need to know that my younger brother hates nearly all the women's perfumes. He doesn't really likes women to smell perfumery. We shared a flat for a couple of years and he was always telling me to stop using perfume in the house cause it irritates him, while he was spraying himself all the time with nice man's colognes... anyway it is hard to setisfy him on this field.
Last year he went out to Sweden and I asked him to check out the duty free shop at Stockholm Airport and surprise me with something.
He bought me the lovely Tumulte, saying that it is very nice and interesting smelling. I was like "wow my little perfume-hater bro bought me a perfume and saying it is nice..." :)
I was really impressed and loved the smell.
Unique, creamy, flowery, tart-frutiy, def. one of a kind.
Now my bro is in Sweden too... I am waiting for him fingers crossed, ha-ha! :)

I really love it and,though many people would disagree, I find it of a similar 'character' to Absynthe.
The same 'full' flavor, the same 'liquer' like scent.
It's quite heavy but not in a bad way (not like La perla, Jolie Madame and Paloma Picaso who are masculine IMHO), just ...rich.
Its sweetness has nothing to do with sugar itself but it derives from some other source, it reminds me in general of a heavy and very very high quality liquer. I love it!
Green notes, I haven't detected any of them. It's a thick, full and rich perfume...
It's a rather mature scent (not for teens, for sport style, nice for women +25).

In Tumulte is nothing "green and masculine", it's one the most nursing, warm and soft scent I know.

Just got my bottle today and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this!!! I went by Lillybee's review and she is absolutely right. This does smell like L'instant except dustier and a little darker. I like it far better than L'instant for these reasons. I do get the honey note, too, which is so captivating even though honey isn't listed. I swear I can smell some kind of beautifully, oiled, aged wood like rosewood but there’s no wood listed here either. Sillage is great and dries down to a powdery, woody, sweetness that is divine! If I didn't know better, I'd think this was a Guerlain. This is my new FAVE!! Mmmm…so edible….I can’t stop smelling my wrists! This was a WONDERFUL blind buy!

oh my. Tumult indeed!!! on my skin this is nothing but a mess.

This is like different ingredients forcefully scrammed into a bottle. Sickly sweet. If you think lolita lempicka lolita lempicka is too sweet, you havent seen anyhing yet. This is like a half licked-away red lollipop in the summer heat.

Here, in Tumulte, the tangerine, roses and tonka are a disaster. This is the first case in my perfumista life when i say: give it more patchouly!!! This fragrance does not have dimensions at all!

If you like pink-dressed fluffy dressed women pull each other's hair, give it a try.

Step 1: one liberal spray on my pulses and ... tasting. I felt roses in a sugary, candied way (like rose confiture I had the chance to eat once in my lifetime in an Eastern country); they seemed like rose quintessence with powder sugar glazed all over.
Step 2: then did mandarin and freesia lift the jam feeling and powdery elements from iris and heliotrope settled in. I considered the scent had showed all its power so I did away with it mentally, while leaving it on my skin all the same.
Step 3: by evening time I sensed something warm (tonka and amber) decisevely present where applied and much later there was a cocoa vanilla slightly gourmand leftover which I enjoyed.
Tumulte did not live up to my expectations from the dark rose point of view, but intrigued me instead as a pleasant soft rosey vanilla.
I still cannot figure out how it happened, but I find myself wearing it every day to work. I like oriental and strong perfumes but they can be too much in close encounters so I find Tumulte a good choice for its comfortable feeling and combination of notes. The rose is felt every now and then inside a powdery mix on a bed of warm vanilla tonka notes. It is long lasting and intriguing and on clothes there remains a clean powdery rose I like to sniff. The musk thankfully seems not to be present on my skin, so this is a plus for that reason for me.

I've tried so hard to find to test it and when I found it and it was a good deal, I ordered it online unsniffed.

For me is it nursing, warm scent from the top to the tail. Non-misterious and dark, IMO, but sexy, seductive, a bit reminds me to Nivea cream.If you love powdery rose, go for it safely!

I came across this perfume while shopping in a duty free shop. As I am looking for a unique smell, this perfume came to be just perfect! Unique, dark, sexy smell. If you are looking for a regular, floral-fruity perfume, this will not be the one for you. This perfume is perfect for a night out in a lounge or banquet event. It gives you a sense of mysteriousness, IMO. That's what make the fragrance so attractive, I haven't smelt this special style of fragrance before, not after many top brands. I am disappointed that Christian Lacroix didn't make it to survive in the fragrance market, so buy this fragrance before its gone! I already have a 100ml backed up :)

GORGEOUS Niche-smelling fragrance for an excellent price. "Tumulte" is an "amped up" dark, naughty outgoing sister to Frederic Malle's "Lipstick Rose". Think "Lipstick Rose" amped up with tons of roses, heliotrope, orris, & musky patchouli darkness. I get loads of powdery violets in the heart (all though this is not listed as a note, it definatley IS present in the heart). Francoise Caron, is the maker of this "Tumulte" of a fragrance. Francoise Caron is also the nose behind work of perfume-art like Acqua di Parma's "Iris Nobile" edp & Jean Charles Brosseau's "Ombre Rose L'Original". So sort of like these 3 fragrances combined. Like a classic gone totally patchouli-wild & darkley exotic. The beutiful perfume-add of this fragrance, with the gorgeous oriental lady *looks like this perfume smells* !! Oh, and the bottle is perfect for this fragrance, and *oh so very very beutiful*. A true Oriental Floral (must have for fans of this olfactive group). You shouldn't miss it. AND, my dear boyfriend never notices a new fragrance on me (can't blame him, check my wardrobe, I'm a fanatic collector). But this made him go *wow this is so seeexy gorgeous Mmmmm* as he burried his nose in my neck. 10/10 stars.

For some reason, this frag starts out mildly green on me...then it slips into the citrusy & rosey notes, ending in a mild tonka beanish, musky scent...Not too bad [on me]...

I mostly feel the heliotrope, iris, tonka bean and patchouli notes in this fragrance. Not light, but not too strong. I don't like this fragrance at all because of the patchouli note in it. It smells too earthy and a little bit dry on me.

One look at the bottle of Christian Lacroix's TUMULTE, and it's obvious that this perfume was intended only for Christmastime. Do the contents of the bottle deliver on the promise made by the bright red all covered with fanciful gold graphic designs of eyes, mouths, and what not?

TUMULTE is quite sweet but also flowery, with tonka bean and patchouli dominating. Somehow it resonates with my memories of ADDICT. On the other hand, it also evokes fleeting memories of many other scents as well.

TUMULTE is appropriately named, for it doesn't really know what it wants to be. Indeed, this fragrance seems to be a sort of identity crisis in a bottle. TUMULTE is literally all over the map, to my nose, a more or less incoherent perfume, though certainly not repulsive. I won't throw the bottle away. Nor will I wear it again before, perhaps, next Christmas!

There is a moral to this storybook scent as well: If you try to be all things to all people, you'll end by being nothing to anyone.

Very bad,it reminds me of cake.Not that cake is bad but in a bad way in perfumes..Very disturbing sweet scent that just was very strange made,it felt like i was smelling something edible..blah

I am enjoying this one for the fall!

Tumulte starts off with a very sweet mandarin note, a compote type feel if you will, but matures quickly into a rose, freesia and heliotrope bouquet. It is quite bright and sunny throughout the development. The patchouli comes in with a very light hand and I am betting there is something akin to cedar or orris root in the base.

Overall Tumulte works beautifully with my skin, although I thought the sugary mandarin would spoil it for me. It didn't, but I think it is quite unnecessary and the fragrance would have been better had the opening been less sweet.

That bottle! Simply beyond reproach.

I also love the men's version of Tumulte which is a more incensy affair and more "tumultuous" in it's feel.

Very nice bottle, but thr scent was dissapointment.

Very hard to come by this one so I'm reviewing the scent from a bottle that's almost completely used up and no replacement :-(. It isn't a floriental on me, more of an oriental woody vanilla but quite dark and insensy. A nice combination of earthy, powdery iris and dusty honey note of the tonka is what I get in the drydown. I can't remember getting a lot of rose from it, the patchouli seems to overshadow it. From the fresh citrus top to the honey -vanillic base it reminds me of L'Instant only Tumulte is darker and dustier. I get a nice sillage too but it isn't overbearing at all. A strong but subtle beauty, for those who like florientals with a dark and dusty edge.

ummm it reminds me of barbie dolls scent...i dont love it but i dont hate it either!its the first perfume that puts me into trouble when it comes to reviewing it!!!lol...anyway,its definetely heavy and intense for cold winter nights!what more can i say?i'll try it in the winter,see how many compliments i get and keep you informed!lol!

This perfume has a very peculiar smell!When I first sniffed it I liked it much but after a few years wearing it one day suddenly I didn't feel good,it had something intense that makes me feel unease I don't know whether it's patchouli or tonka bean.Thank God after few hours it transforms really well!!

I find this to be a very elegant floral oriental fragrance. I can't smell doughnut on this or any "eatable" ingredient. It has a baroque style in my opinion. I can identify roses, with an earthy hint... it is a nice evening fragrance.

It's funny how I got misled by the name and bottle, I simply thought it will be overpowering and noisy like its name would suggest, how wrong.Today I tested it and what a surprise! It is intense but in a goooood way. First some citrus with freesias so nice and sweetish, then more sweet iris and roses which make your nose to stick to your wrist,must be the spicy edge of tonka beans and patchouli which makes me like it so much, otherwise I would not fall for the sweetness itself. After a while all the sweet is gone and subtle floral sent stays, I just wish a bit longer. Lovely perfume for special occasions.

I just don't detect anything edible here. I do however get a lot of rose and patchouli, even upon initial spray. It's nice and warm for sure, but nothing that will blow your mind. Decent lasting power too. *sigh* And how I did want to smell like a doughnut...

I have this perfume, it is very sweet and vanilla-ry when I first put it on but after a while it mellows out beautifully into an intoxicating, more-ish, lushious, sensual, floral and light, yet musky fragrance. I think it goes very well with my natural skin scents and it makes me feel warm, happy, abundant and subtly sexy. I love it! My fiancee adores it and the bottle it divine- so jewel-like and splendid!
