Potion for Women DSQUARED² for women

This used to be my signature scent for years. Also one of my most complemented scents.
Even though I have lot a fragrances I enjoy wearing in my collection, I still hold a lot of nostalgia for this scent.

I agree with the comment below me that it is nondescript and perfectly forgettable. It kind-of smells generically feminine. But sometimes thats exactly what you need.

This is good, when you just want to smell nice and feminine, without making a big olfactoric statement or looking for epiphany. The bottle is pretty, the smell is warm, cozy Vanilla and soft Violet powder with a fruity twist. It is a bit nondescript/boring. And every time I am reaching for it I have a hard time recalling the scent. Actually, it is lacking charakter and is perfectly forgettable.

Fruity floral, almost like CK Euphoria, but on a deep clean note that slowly turns powdery.
Blackcurrant/blackberry note (think ribena blackcurrant squash) over powdery clean faint roses with a sweet metallic edge

At the first spray, I find the powder to be a little overwhelming, after a few seconds the scent settles down and the fruit notes and floral comes through. I am buying spring and summer scents now and I imagine that on a hot day you will get a stronger projection, however, for now, this a good skin scent and I wore it alone today but I think I will layer it with another scent in cold weather.

Update: ok the 60+ weather is here and I was right the oils from your skin, lotion, and combined with the hear makes this scent sing. However, as a natural scent its longevity is a few hours. Unfortunately that means you go through this stuff fast and I think its discountinued 😥. I'm only seeing the EDT spray except on Ebay.

Beautiful! This would be a gorgeous signature scent! It's not too pink and cosmetic. I enjoy it a lot! It's warm, comfortable and cozy without being overwhelming!

I like everything of this one. The warm classy scent(I think it reminds me Burberry Touch for women, but I had it long ago), the bottle and the name. To me they fit each other perfectly.

A very intense, voluptuous, insolent perfume, certainly suitable for adults. The notes that I perceive most on my skin are the chypre ones even if the note that develops at the end is that of white musk. Certainly a perfume that does not go unnoticed and that changes during the day.

Reading the reviews it seems this one has a life very much of it's own. It isn't very often the reviews sprawl in almost all possible directions, but with this one it seems next to impossible to know what to expect.
On one hand you could call that a lack of quality, since the maker didn't manage to get the fume to behave even remotely consistent on different people.
On the other hand, though, you could call it a rather modestly priced surprise just about to happen.

On my skin this is a very pleasant clean, musky slightly floral woody scent. It reminds me a lot of Donna Karan Cashmere mist, even if they share only a few notes. Comforting and innocently sensual.
It is more linear than expected with moderate sillage and longevity.
I don´t think i will get me a fb, since to me Cashmere mist has a bit more character and depth.
But I have my suspicions this is one that will grow on me until I can't resist.

I was really mean to this perfume December 2016. Since then my interests and tastes have changed, I'm actually into powdery musky scents. (I crave vintage scents for the "old" smell) I figure this is a summer test now after sitting in a dark cabinet for over a year.

Something made me dig this out and put 1 squirt on my inner elbow/arm. And I liked it! It's still soft, but the next morning (put on at about 9pm the night before) it was still there! And it still had enough character/sillage to recognize it. The next morning I had a powdery musky patchouli. Nothing ever lasts on my bare skin, so this was amazing to me.

So today for work, I decided I'm wearing this full-on. I did about 8 sprays on my shirt after dressing. And it's really nice. Fruity, airy, powdery musk. It's pretty simple/linear. But very very pleasing. Maybe I needed to wait until my tastes changed, or else it's a summer/warm scent. I think it's due to my tastes now. But I really really like this. Haha! It's light and airy, but heavy enough for great sillage and longevity.

I don't get anything oriental or chypre-like. In fact this smells like parts of Panthere by Cartier, if you strip Panthere of all animalic musks/chypre notes. Basically just the fruity powder of Panthere. While Potion is musky, it's the clean/laundry type musk instead of animalic/skanky musk.

And I adore the bottle.

Seriously, 8 hours later, I take back EVERYTHING bad I said. This is a wonderful perfume! Light sweet vanilla powder drydown that still has discreet sillage (meaning I can smell myself, which is the whole reason I wear perfume, I don't care if other people smell me). LOVE!! I have a sleeveless turtleneck on today, so there isn't any drydown due to the fact I only sprayed on clothes today.

Smells expensive and very sexy! Exactly what I need! :) Ordering this asap! <3

Gold bracelet - that's how i imagine this perfume if were a thing.
Flowers with yellow petals mimosa or narcissus, I have a 30ml of this scent.
Sweet perfume comes from blackberry and rhubarb, honey droplet is here to make it gentle and sunny like. Durability varies between 4 - 8 h. Depending on the skin.
After some time you can recognize that this light sweet honey drops are vanilla, rose, and musk. All well mixed up. I most wear it when i want to be in romantic mood.

"Theater perfume" is what comes to mind when I sniff this thing. Essentially this is what I remember the foyer of a theater smelling like - clean/freshly vacuumed carpeting, velvet, nice upholstery, a mishmash of classic fancy perfumes emanating from the cliques of people mingling before the performance. I find that this perfume performs best when dispersed as much as possible, i.e. spraying into the air and walking through the cloud. The cap is made of metal which makes the bottle satisfyingly heavy in the hand. Love it.

Utterly boring and quiet scent with a beautiful bottle.
Had a small bottle of this and really struggled to use it up. A sweet nothing with noticable vanilla that lasted for about 30 minutes at the most.
But! Found a jacket with this scent on that acctually wasnt so bad. Thats not enough to stay on my shelf tho.

Blind buy and at first I didn't like it because it wasn't what I expected by looking at the fragrantica list of most distinctive notes. I was hoping for blackberries, rhubarb and patchouli. And I got only vanilla, amber, musk and some woody note. But now I'm quite intrigued and I'm starting to really like it. Vanilla here is not cloying, it's quite tamed by the shades of amber, musk and some kind of woodiness similar to cedar wood. But cedar isn't listed here, so maybe it is just another facet of patchouli. Overall it's very nice scent, wchich I am able to wear with pleasure despite its being totally different from what I usually like. Stays close to the skin, but it is quite longlasting. Good quality, but slightly artificial.

What a mess of a boring perfume!

Utter disappointment with this blind buy.

Powder soapy floral in the cheapest way. Boring. Musky. No personality.

However, the next day drydown on a tissue was nice... but so light/faint. Perhaps it's the sweet creamy drydown I want, and this just doesn't last/work to the drydown.
I get absolutely no rhubarb or anything fruity. Just cheap motel soap... haha.

I was disappointed by Want by DSQ too.

I will try this in summer and hope something changes. Right now it's a wintery hellhole in Michigan. ;)

I do love the bottle tho.

I was quite harsh.... haha.... I haven't given up on this. The drydown on my first tissue test smells soooo GOOD- and it's been 4 days!

My second wear/try had more fruit, and it was potent for the first 20 minutes, but then it loses everything and I don't get that lovely creamy delicious drydown that I got from the tissue test. :(

I reach for this a lot when layering. That's about it.

This is spicy and musky. More like a winter scent. But a cheap one.
I don't like it at all.

Top notes of laundry detergent fade quickly into a vulgar synthetic mess. I wouldn't use this as air freshener for my Barbie Dreamhouse.

Potion was far from my imaginations.
It's notes promise an original and interesting scent but None of them standout so that it borders on being generic,still it's pleasant
I couldnt name any of it's notes before checking fragrantica but after seeing it's pyramid I told myself: yes,it must be candied violets,rose and some other flowers.also a blackberry-patchouli combo sweetened by vanilla, amber(it doesn't seem to be ambergris to my nose,more like typical amber).not that I can pickup patchouli!just that I can see there must be something like patchouli or some woody notes blending with fruits and deepening them.I can't pickup any bergamot,rhubarb is there but doesn't appear as tart as it usually tends to be.blackberry which could also pass as plum or blackcurrant has stronger presence on my skin but not that I can call this a berryish scent. I can't call it a violet scent or a rose scent either.vanilla has an important role here but it serves as making the whole scent sweeter more than standing out on itself so I can't even call it a vanilla scent.
It opens as a fruitchouli.sweet and a little syrupy but not overly sweet or foody.as time passes it becomes more floral and powdery but it's not a too much clean powdery scent on me.it seems to have musky,woody,vanilla,amber base notes which keep it warm and deeper than a usual floral fruity.it becomes a little musky as it dries down but not enough musky to make me love it.all in all I see it as a simple warm and sweet scent with some fruity,powdery,woody,musky facets,not enough to give it a memorable personality but enough to make it pleasant and charming
Potion is wearable easy to like and a nice not costly choice for fall& cooler spring nights and even winter days but it's not really memorable..it can be used everywhere and by both mom's & girls..it's stays for about 4hours on my skin(much longer on clothes)and sillage is good when first applied but in about ten minutes reduces to moderate and then soft to moderate.it's versatile and easy to wear and can be a safe gift for alot of people. I see it as a good choice for someone who has always used simple pink fruity florals and now whats to step a bit further and get to know more complex,sexier fragrances without facing much difficulty in adapting

شروع عطر براي من بارايحه شیرین و میوه ای همراهه.توت سیاه و ریواس ک اینجا ترش نیست پیچیده شده تو لایه ای از پچولی یا نت های چوبی و شیربن شده با وانیلی ک ببشتر مثل شربت قند هست و امبر(خود امبر،نه امبرگریس) هرچند عطر شیرینی هست اما نمیشه اون رو خیلی شیرین یا گورمند دونست
هرچی زمان میگذره نت های گلی(بیشتر بنفشه و رز)غالبتر میشن و عطر پودری تر میشه تو درای داون کمی هم مشک پدیدار میشه اما نه اونقدر ک بشه پوشن رو عطری مشکی دونست..چیزی ک مرتبا از ذهنم میگذشت این بود ک پوشن میتونه دختر عموی دیوید یورمن طلایی باشه ک پودری تر و شده و نت ها ترکیب شده تر و جنریکتر شدن
من نتونستم نت پچولي رو بعنوان يه نت مجزا تشخيص بدم اما قطعا چیزی مثل پچولی یا نت های چوبی اینجا حضور داره ک رایحه ای میوه ای عطر رو عمیقتر میکنه..وانيل هم زياد برام قابل تشخيص نبود و بیشتر نقش شیرین کننپه رو داره تا یه نت مجزا

On me it's very woody, deep and elegant, very similar to Allure. Long lasting and of good quality. A grown up scent.

This juice is gorgeous so sweet and just enough vanilla to make it balanced with the fruity notes. Don't get me wrong I love vanilla but am finding recent fragrance releases can have just to much vanilla which for me makes you smell like vanilla Ben and Jerry's. I find myself missing classics like gucci 1 pour femme the one with the heavy square glass bottle and brown juice and also my all time favourite Alexander mqeens Kingdom now those are powerful fragrances which I find I crime to discontinue but back to this juice is also one that I don't think could be confused with another altogether lovely stuff 8 out of 10 for me on silage and projection.

I love this one. This is my confidence booster when I have an important meeting. I feel that this has a masculine tone and certain sharpness to it which softens over time. The blackberry and rhubarb are refreshing and a little sour, quite realistic. They also go well with the violet, the floral note that stands out the most, at least to my nose. The dry down is musky and powdery and leaves a nice trail behind. It's certainly different but I love it, especially since my mom gifted it to me! The bottle is also fabulous.

I blind bought it because of all controverted reviews on this site (and also 'cause i found it at a reasonable price).It is different of all my others perfumes (I am a sweet/white flower/vanilla perfume lover), but I can't say I hate it.On my skin it's extremely powdery at the beginning.Once it's settled I can smell sweet/vanilla.I kind of like it!

A very nice rose perfume mixed with vanilla. In the beginning I had to learn to love it because it gave me a headache. But then when I kept trying it on my skin I loved it so rosy and creamy. Even powdery that note I didn't like so much.But that's from my point of view I like when a fume keeps a sort of freshness. This one became to powdery on my skin.
But please try it maby you like it...

Just recently I tried this one at the drugstore and oh my it was a love at first smell. Vanilla with rhubarb is just awesome here. It smells so fresh and sweet at the same time. But never too sweet, it's just's a perfect amount of delicious. Longevity is great and after few hours it turns into something very different than in the beginning, it becomes very warm(but still stays fresh- don't even know how exactly is that possible?) My next buy for sure.

I'm not a fan of the bottle and brand, so I skipped this one many times while shelf-crawling.
Today I gave it a try. I read the funny (phoney) "seduction recipe" and the little marketing bulb in my brain lighted up. I say phoney, because if Potion Dsquared2 (what an ugly name btw) contained just as half of the mentioned natural stuff it would cost $$$$$ and it would smell much better.
On first sniff I smelled flowers, generic but not bland, pleasant enough to go on, then a strange fruity vibe. Blackberry? Honestly I don't know. It could or could be not. I know how freshly picked blackberries smell, I didn't expect to find that smell in a bottle. I would say it smells like a blackberry in perfumery is supposed to smell. Also rhubarb is present and it's quite pleasant.
I smell some kind of violet edge, but all flowers here are treatly very badly like second players.
Finally a vat of vanilla, I mean a VAT as if they took old TBS Golden Vanilla (a thick syrupy simple fragrance) and add it in the blend: 1 half all the mentioned before and 1 half syrupy vanilla, not too foody.
Better vanilla than other modern fragrances but there is something very weird here: the Whole composition, after a while on both paper and skin smells a little putrid, like dirty water or in more optimistic way it smells like a sweet water city stream. If you like to byke along rivers you or close to ponds, you know that smell that in spite of being putrid can also smell a little attractive. Not nice in a perfume anyway.
It's a strong perfume that fades relatively quickly.

Sweet and subtle, lovely fragrance but it doesn't last on my skin.

I liked the opening of this fragrance as it's sweet and lovely (or generic floral fruity, a happy one), but the drydown turns strongly and undeniably masculine on me. Thus - pass.

I tried this one the other day, to me it smells just like Bottega Veneta!

I had a wonderfull experiance With this one.
i put it on my wrist for test purpose a few days ago and thought mm not bad , but not that special .. And then i forgot all about it rushing on With my other Things. But when i finaly had a time to rest and sat Down i caught the sweetest most beautiful wiff off light sweet powdery marshmellowy Vanilla. (so it seamed to me)I could not wrapp my head around what that smell was . did my kids pick some flowers . had a bought a New lovely scented candles..i was pussled for hours he he.. Then when i was on my way to bed it hit me.. It was this perfume sample..God im so slow sometimes. Now i realy want this its so comforting and so jummy to me. It reminds me a bit of D & G Temperence in awaywith the light musky powderyvanilla note jummy jummy

When i do get this and i will . i wil most sertenly look more into the notes and such. just thouht i share a Nice perfume discoverymoment he he

This smells like spicy, honeyed roses... I don`t get any other notes. Similar to "Moment De Bonheur" by Yves Rocher.
Fresh, and a bit sweet.
Both modern and "vintage" at the same time.
I don`t smell any patchouli at all, thankfully.

It doesn`t last on me.I can`t smell a thing after a while . Sorry ,I find it quite an uninteresting scent

I bought it 3 days ago and I'm already beginning to think I made a big mistake:( Though the fragrance itself is exactly what I was looking for, a somewhat dry, a bit sour, ambery & fruity scent that's quite elegant and very far from the current trend of overly sweet, fruity marshmallows that pass for perfumes these days, lasting power and projection are very, very bad. Potion lasts for 2-4 hours at most and is undetectable except on direct contact with my wrist:(

I like the fragrance itself a lot, but this needs an "intense" version ASAP if it hopes to see any sales at all. In Greece, just a month after coming out, it's already on huge discount (35%) and now I can see why:( Personally, I wish I spent a buck or two more, and bought something more lasting.

I think that it works differently on some skins. For example, on me was loud and projecting and not close to skin. Even after some hours from testing this (only one spray on my hand), my husband asked me what I was wearing. This sultry/animalic/ambery freshness, drives me crazy and lasts and lasts.....

A very nice fragrance with quality. It starts sour and peppery perhaps (I don't like this opening really as i hate blackberries) but as the time goes by, it's transformed to a deep darker musky scent, with floral chypre characteristics. What I enjoy is that it stays fresh and clean and dry, although it becomes warmer as it dries down. Violet, jasmine and bergamond are combined very skilfully and preserve it's freshness. The dry down (after 5 hours) is amazing!!!!. An enjoyable sulty ambregris decorated by vanilla, musk and patcouli. I would buy this perfume especially to enjoy this last phase....

To me it smelled like dalissime from salvador dali. And it seemed wonderful for the first few minutes. But after half an hour to say, not so much. I'll pass.

Is a deep wearable winter everyday perfume with a vintage look. I love it!

Somehow Potion reminds me of Roberto Cavalli Eau de Parfum, this one is a little bit more fresh. Stays close to my skin - next person have to stand close or hug/dance with me to get a wiff. Lovely Vanilla in base.

På nåt sätt påminner Potion mig om Roberto Cavalli Eau de Parfum, denna är något lite mer fräsch. Hudnära - nästa person får stå nära eller krama/dansa med mig för att få en fläkt av denna. Djup härlig Vanilj i basen.

mmmmmm, smells really good.. men love it

I had to change my review. I have put 4 heavy sprays on my neck and under my scarf and I went out. It was at 4pm. The scent around me was beautiful. I can't detect any single note, but I loved it.
It's almost 11pm and I still have it around me.
It seems like it didn't work on my wrist, but works perfectly on my neck. Soft , fruity, not generic.

This is a great winter smell!
Didn't try other Dsquared parfumes, but this is unique in comparison with the parfumes that are around me or meet on the streets, job, bars. I think the sicret is the 'rhubarb' note. I'ts very rarely seen in the popular parfumes. Love it!

Potion by Dsquared looks like an old medical flacon of an injection and by thinking of the name, ”potion of what?” just came natural to me. Sharp and bold in the beginning, soft, warm and tender to the heart notes , lingers on the skin in the end in a trusting hug of sweet patchouli and musk …yep, potion of love! One of the best perfumes for the winter- fall although I sense it more like a fall scent.
Dsquared on my favourites list!

Nice effort from Dsquared and Christine Nagel. Potion for Women smells like a fruity and modernized version of Chanel Allure. Potion is not so warm as Allure, it is more synthetic, but still the fragrances share a lot of common in the base.

it's definitely different from the other dsquared perfumes..not too sharp..not too heavy..just fruity that turns to something sweet and warm..perfect autumn-winter!!included duration..that's what i was waiting for!!

This is lovely, soft and sweet. Maybe a bit too soft and sweet for me. I like my perfumes with an edge, something sharp, heavy or herbal. This is just soft and sweet. I think a lot of people will like this one.

I love this. Its sweet and woody not what I imediatly expected from Dsquared.
In the topnotes I can smell the blackberry, rose and violet very well, it blends nicely with the bergamot and whiffs of rubarb. It makes the opening of potion fresh but it doesnt stay that way. The dry down is warm, as the scent gets softer, I start to smell the patchouli, vanilla and amber. The scent turns from fruity to a bit oriental. When the scent warms on skin I like it more and more.
I will definatly buy this scent its lovely
