Divin'Enfant by Etat Libre d'Orange is a Leather fragrance for women and men. Divin'Enfant was launched in 2006. The nose behind this fragrance is Antoine Lie.

A child can either charm or annoy us with the same ruthlessness. A child can be irresistible with his angel-sweet smile but he also knows how to drive us crazy. Under the angel, the faked innocence of a demon. After the gentle top notes of orange blossom and marshmallow, breaks the unexpected accord of coffee, leather and cold tobacco, a shrilling symbol of our sleepless nights. True to his reputation of «polymorphic pervert», this mini-sized tyrant is only happy when he succeeds in imposing his whims, which he always manages to do.What a sweet little monster !

Composition: Orange blossom, marshmallow, rose, moka, leather, amber, musk, tobacco

**Application 2PM**

**First Impression:**

Upon first application, this perfume smells like a car air freshener based on fairly synthetic and tropical white flowers, but it is very fresh. There is also a slight sweet note in the background. At the moment, I find this perfume somewhat unpleasant, as if you put air freshener on your skin. I remain open to the evolution of this perfume and will revisit it in about 30 minutes.

**After about 30 minutes:**

the perfume becomes more pleasant, less floral, and i begins to detect the coffee note resembling a vanilla latte, so it is quite sweet and gourmand with a very subtle white flower note in the background.

**After 4 hours and 30 minutes:**

the perfume became very discreet and leaves a scent of sugar, vanilla, and slight synthetic white flowers, which comes across as somewhat juvenile wich is the vibe of the perfume.

**Divin Enfant** is not a perfume for me, or it doesn't work on my skin. However, it does have a rather interesting evolution that remains quite original, so try it if you have the chance.

Today I began my trek through testing my ELDO sampler on skin, and through the power of random selection I ended up with Divin'Enfant.

The opening is overwhelmingly sweet, a burst of chalky sugar reminiscent of Necco Wafers or Bottle Caps. On the dry down, bitter coffee and leather start to shine through to balance the sweetness, although it never fully loses its candylike veneer. To me, the tobacco note is present, but it blends well enough with the other notes that it isn't overwhelming. There's an undercurrent of the signature rose that ELDO likes to put in everything, but is is nowhere near as prominent as with some of their other offerings.

Overall, I don't mind it necessarily, but I don't care for most sweet scents and gourmands (and I would call this a gourmand, albeit an atypical one), so I can't see myself wearing this much. I do respect the craftsmanship that went into it, though, since thus is undoubtedly a fascinating and unique fragrance.

MaggyMay

This is one of my favorite from ELDO. The smoky, spicy opening. (I do get tobacco here despite the website notes list.) Milky florals. Finally, the marshmallow orange- which is more of an ambery honey creamy orange suede. This dry down lasts for hours on me and remains as intense as it started. It is delicious and divine. 💛

A very sweet white floral gourmand with some tobacco. It opens nicely, but unfortunately it turns too cloying on my skin. It reallt smells like soft, white cotton candy though. If you like sweet gourmand with a twist you may enjoy it .

Idais

I really love this now but was very disgusted when I first sprayed it. It took a while before I could use it. It is a very wierd fragrance, intresting and unique I have never smelled any fragrance like it but I still recognize the smell, it is a familiar comforting smell. Kind of reminds me of cigaretts my mom used to smoke, coffee with sugar and her hand cream combined. It smells like her.

BalkanFragranceLover

Got this in an ELDO discovery box.

Opening - Off-putting synthetic soapy smell (but not the fresh clean soap, more of a low quality, cheap, greasy soap) - i am not vibing with how they have used the neroli notes here. It takes a while for the synthetic vanillic/fruity sweetness to crawl up.
Drydown - Subdued vanillic sweetness mixed with white flowers, slightly more feminine than unisex. Nothing all that impressive or memorable.

The notes on fragrantica are 90% made up and nonsensical for this one. There is no "marshmallow" no tobacco no coffee no tonka in this, and even much less so amber or leather.

Overall, i am not a fan of this scent. Not sure what it tries to do, but whatever it is, i will skip it.

norock

Powdery, feminine, classical, floral. First few moments had a lot of spice, but that seems to have subdued quickly, leaving the mellower and girlier notes.

jeannebelmondo

Fruity-powdery, like parma violets or Necco wafers, but also quite citrusy, zesty, vanillic, and a bit resinous and woodsy in a more seductive and unisex way. It's lovely, a little too pampered and straight-laced for me, but lovely nonetheless

afternoir

At first I find myself pondering whether I prefer to wear this fragrance on my skin or let it linger in my room. There's something about it that's throwing me off, although I can't quite pinpoint what it is. However, I do detect a sweet tone with a subtle hint of bitterness.

Moments later, a powdery, tobacco/leather note emerges, but it's incredibly subtle. It exudes an intimate quality, perfect for the neck of a partner; it doesn't overpower but rather creates a subtle aura of allure.

As time passes, a light floral powdery scent develops, further enhancing the intimacy of the fragrance. It's ideal for days when you want to smell pleasant without being too overpowering. Overall, it's a very enjoyable fragrance suitable for summer, autumn, and spring—making it versatile across almost all seasons.

“Impose your whims and release your inner child”
In the opening it heavily reminds me of baby wipes haha. It just smells like a clean changing room. White florals aren’t really for me but I still think this would be very nice on some women.

In the background of the perfume you can smell the fruity peach and a tiny bit of a bitter undertone.

After like 2,3 hours it settles down and seems to forget about the clean white flower smell and goes heavy on the peach and vanilla.

Fragrance Trail

I’m not sure what to make of this one. It’s interesting, it’s unique and it’s very unisex. The fragrance has a lot of character. I do smell a lot of the notes mentioned mainly for me, the tobacco, the floral, the musk and some citrus. I’m definitely enjoying the sample, but it’s just not something I’d purchase to wear long term. It’s nice while it lasts.

Chloerose666

Yet again the pyramid is totally wrong according to ELDOs website;

Top notes: Bergamot, Neroli, Peach
Heart notes: Rose Absolute Orpur®, Orange Blossom, Heliotrope
Base notes: Vanilla, Patchouli, Musk

As I've said in previous ELdO reviews I hate being negative and really want to love everything but alas I dont think I'm overly compatible with this brand for some reason..

Smells like orange blossom, rose and something weirdly medical on opening. A bit heavy and strange smelling, reminded me of a rather posh porta-loo. Yes, a toilet lol.

After an hour or two it does settle down and it doesn't repulse me but its like a weirdly powdery, leathery, masc leaning floral. I wish it leant more towards the Vanilla and musk notes on me but again I was a bit disappointed. Longevity is good, sillage not great after an hour - or maybe its just so strong and weird my nose tries to block it out

chainsmokerbarbie

this is my usual perfume when hanging out with people and apparently it left someones car smelling like a "French whorehouse" which is genuinely the best compliment i've been given

ChooChooSmellington

Usually I really dislike white floral fragrances, this one is no exception, BUT only on initial spray and when smelling it from the bottle. After a few minutes while the opening settles and dissipates, it transform into a comforting, powdery, maybe even milky smell. Even with that opening that I dislike, it's still a banger unisex scent.

judyk

I don't know if this will be meaningful to anyone else, but on dry down this smells like a cross between Castelbajac "Castelbajac" and Cacharel "Gloria". I love both of those, so this is a thumbs-up for me. :)

ambra1984

I feel it flowery sweet, synthetic, I can't distinguish the notes in it, not the tobaco, nor the coffe , totally not my style. I just sinthetic , heavy smell, makes me a little sick. I have tested it from a sample, lucky I don't have a bottle. I wold not touch it .

grafgr

It photorealistically captures the essence of a chain-smoking and cologne-wearing old relative's moustache.

cweeveen

u have to wait for it to dry down, this isn't like other perfumes but I do really like it. it smells clean and like pale pastel colours and white if that makes sense lol. or like a romanticised box of smoky old forgotten stuffed animals or bedsheets in an attic, there's something there that I just can't describe though

spaceybailey

A bougie BABY dressed in designer, at a party. Doesn't want to be put down because he's loving the vibe, all the attention. But unfortunately everyone's arm is hurting and is finally sat on the sofa, next to an older sibling. He smells sweet, boozy, warm & cozy. The sibling picks him up and says.. "you smell so good" (hugs him tight) LOL You now smell like him. This perfume smells amazing, it's a baby HUG in a bottle. Really comforting. This perfume is powdery, like baby powder, that has been corrupted by tobacco, leather, black coffee with a shot of musk. Not even mad about it, I love it. Leans masculine but I love wearing it. Layer with Brazilian Crush 62 (body mist) Chefs kiss. This is what you smell like after carrying a baby around for a while. A NIGHT time, cold weather perfume. BISOUS

Aers Etat Libre d'Orange Advent Calendar

I bought the ELdO discovery set and made it my advent calendar. I'll try to post a review every day in the order the samples are in the set.

Day 3 - Divin'Enfant

This was very confusing - until it wasn't. It started off as some explosion of just... a lot. A big lot. Lot's of flowers, rose, some citrussy notes here and there, a ton of powder, some musk, sweetness, sirup, so so much sweetness and it all was just much. Much of everything. An overwhelming attack on the senses. There was just a lot to unpack and at least my nose gave up very quickly.

The images that it conjured up in my head when smelling it were colorful and over the top. A Burlesque Shows dressroom right after the performers left it behind to go on stage. Powder still in the air, Champagne, lights, mirrors, dresses all over the place, glitter and wigs, hair grease and high heels, felt and satin, red, pink and gold. A drag artist in full get-up. Again: colorful and over the top by design. Hair as grandiose as the Eiffel Tower. Makeup so thick you can scrape it of with a spoon. A Pink recliner filled with pink plushy cushions. The bright, screaming kind of pink.

This is is perfume in the truest sense of the word on my skin and in my head. It flower-y (which is something I very much associate with "being a perfume"), it's thick and surely must be very projecting, it's very loud and extroverted. In the first half an hour, it just continuously shouted around in the room. It's like I would imagine a weird crossover of Marilyn Monroe and Dita von Theese to smell like if that imaginary woman would perform on stage and wanted to make sure that even in row 5, people could still smell her. Then it mellowed a bit.

After it calmed down, what was left was actually rather pleasant. Vanilla-y Marshmallows. Actually just that. I was surprised that something so extroverted became something so straight forward after like 45-ish minutes and just stayed that way for two, three hours. It was pleasant, even if it's not something I'm looking to wear on myself. I don't have many words to say about this here - it was marshmallows, it stayed marshmallows.

In the end, after about 4 hours, it got very very quiet and kind of... old. As if the performer from the beginning went back to her hotel room, exhausted and tired and well, just not 20 anymore. The wig comes off, the makeup is removed. I didn't last long on my skin, maybe an hour longer on my partners than my own. And when it gradually died down, not much was left behind.

Overall, to me it's a very feminine scent - on a male this would certainly seem extroverted and flamboyant. Which of course can be exactly the kind of vibe someone is looking for - it's just not for me. I didn't hate it, but it's clearly too much for me in the beginning and the marshmallow body just doesn't give me anything I would be looking for in particular. If you're looking for powdery sweetness, this might be right up your alley.

huevorevuelto

i am a huge ELDO fan (Spice Must Flow, Like This, Putain Des Palaces), but for me, it smells like a laundry detergent, like i accidentally sniffed it. it's nauseating. no coffee, tobacco, or leather notes — just suffocating smell of sweet cleanliness.

dognose

Didn't expect to like this as much as I do! It's more masculine that I expected, but I really think this could suit anyone. I actually love how unisex it feels. Sweet and spicy but dries down to an almost soapy sweetness that I love. It comes on sharp, a bit herbal, with a touch of incense that takes me back to San Francisco. It also reminds me of the store Lush and smells like the products from there.
The smell definitely lingers and I think is well suited for fall and winter! I like this one a lot!

kdiddledizzle

I can't. This is obnoxiously sweet with the faint waft of a soggy ashtray. That said, this is one of the better scents from this house. Here's the thing - even if YOU like this, it's so strong, and projects quite a bit, you can't wear it out in public unless you are trying to make people hate being around you. Instant migraine. The smell stays for HOURS. It projects. It's just awful. And the ashtray smell is nausea inducing. So even if you escape a migraine, you still want to toss your cookies.

jaynemansfield

Oooh so nice and powdery and sweet. It really reminded me of Love Hearts sweets when I first sprayed it, then transformed into a cosy Lush bath bomb type scent. For some reason it feels Christmassy to me. The sweetness isn’t overpowering and blends gorgeously with the floral notes. I really like this one!

xen.lawyer

Divine baby powder like a divine baby🩷💯

kiyoshi2207

So I gave my friends a sample of this perfume and they are either immediately fall in love with the scent or hate the scent. However, even among my friends who hate the scent, give it a few mins (around 5min-ish) for all the notes to settle down then they seem to like it.

For me tho, it is a beautiful and intriguing scent. It is a powdery-leather-tobacco scent but somehow at the start it gives many of my friends an bozzy impression, like a Rum alcohol to be precise. Then it settle down to a more powdery sweet musky scent that I just can't stop sniffing it the whole day. IMO, it is more lean on a cool weather perfume but even in hot days, I believe some people will can still pull this out just fine.

Side note: I live in a tropical climate zone. Very humid.

livelovelaugh0810

i get the vision behind this but this smells like a potent, powdery lady's room.
it smells like people smoked in this bathroom and also used a lot of powdery scented lotions and left.
ashy, powdery, potent and honestly quite head-ache inducing for me.
the orange blossom just completely ruined this for me .
i think that's the ingredient ruining the whole thing for me and making it smell like a bathroom.

Cherry_Darling

Very sweet but also very masculine. I get shaving foam, Ash, smokiness, and leather. Drydown especially butch, all while maintaining sweet candy feel. Not powdery marshmallow sweet to me more of a sugary candy. Not my scent but quite unique. Reminds me of serge lutens lorpheline.

nooneishere

I agree with the reviewer that said this smells more like a place perfume than a person perfume. Maybe thats because this smells exactly like my French grandmothers guest bathroom, which she stocks with Le Petit Marseillais orange blossom shower gel. This is heavy on the orange blossom, with the window open and someone has smoked outside next to her rose bushes. (I mean this is exactly what it smells like in my grandmother's guest bathroom, no exaggeration. Not her own personal bathroom though, that smells like years old Dior's Dune.) Very sweet as well, but I didn't get marshmallow, more like the orange blossoms are candied. I liked it better after two or so hours of wearing it, once the sweetness had gone away, but at that point I had to sniff my wrist to smell it as it sits pretty close to the skin.

My favorite by Eldo has been la fin du monde, do with that what you will.

Peegore

I'm surprised at quite how much I really enjoy Divin' Enfant.

The orange blossom kicks in from the second it is spritzed and keeps on going, and for a moment at the beginning it seems to me almost aldehydic.

Within the first hour a very, very subtle hint of ashy tobacco creeps in, but slowly retreats. I don't get the Marshmallow at all, just a little Ethyl Maltol which one could argue is sorta similar I suppose.

Thereafter, It's Orange blossom, Musk and Tonka with a liberal dusting of Johnsons Baby Powder.

I get the same 'Feels' with this as I did when I first bought and wore JPG Fleur de Male, and by extension to a degree O.G. Le Male. And yeah, I loved them too.

It's a big thumbs-up from me.

lanlanhalia

No thank you. It reminds me too much of the scented chemicals used in a port-a-potty or airplane bathroom.

Lilah_lilah2023

I have decided ELDO is now my favourite brand. This one is yet another great perfume, unique, comforting and intriguing, I can't stop smelling it. I love it.

cords_bradley

I find this an intriguing, rich and dynamic scent that is hard to describe. To me it’s like a scent of a place/memory rather than a perfume. It reminds me of a Moroccan hotel lobby or a candlelit speakeasy. It's a cosy, familiar, scent. I could imagine my man wearing this and me stealing his hoodie to cuddle up to and smell after he’s gone home. It’s maybe a little too powdery for me to fully love/buy a full bottle but the sweetness and warmth is something I find myself being drawn to. It lasts a good 5-6 hours on my skin and an eternity on clothing.

Zahraa555

Soapy tobacco. Old air conditioner smell. I love that both coffee and dry tobacco go well with the bitterness and sharpness of orange flower. It’s unique and addicting, can’t stop smelling it.

Lorinica

What a beautiful fragrance. I feel marshmallow, some kind of floral notes, fresh tobacco and some musk. I've just got it and I'm so intrigued...
I'm trying it out on a hot summer day and it doesn't really stand out but in airconditioned places it develops it's beauty. It's soft yet powerful at the same time. Leaves a trail... Quite sweet but definitely not a candy sweet... it really has this soft, tender, marshmallow note which is absolutely divine.
I think it's suitable for fall mostly and also for a winter if it's not too cold. Generally, I wear a fragrance whenever I want to but this one just doesn't shine in heat and probably it's too sensitive for a very cold temperatures. Maybe spring as well but I think she'll do her best in a warm fall weather. It's soft and sweet yet very well balanced with tobacco which gives it more grounded vibe. Otherwise it would be just a fluffy floral marshmallow. I get a hint of leather mixed with tobacco, I don't get any coffee, it's warm, I suppose that's amber and tonka. Lasting power is around 5-6 hours. I'd say it's not a very loud fragrance but it creates a scent bubble around you and people will notice you wearing this. It's slightly powdery, very sensual, comforting yet kind of sexy... In my opinion it's leaning slightly more feminine.

EDIT: I've had this fragrance for about 7-8 months now and the tobacco note became more noticable and it overpowers marshmallow note and that innocent vibe the perfume was giving off at the beginning is gone... which annoys me a bit... it just overpowers the gentle, sweet, innocent vibe of the fragrance. Now the fragrance is more edgy. Still a good one just not innocent/childlike anymore. So I layer it with pink sugar for added sweetness and a feminine touch. Now I'd want to smell this on a man...

rosewoodoud555

Got a 10ml decant and I already want the full bottle. First 10 minutes and it's truly divine. There's a lingering sweetness to it, a strong orange blossom, some powderiness, a burning cigarette, and raw tobacco leaves. It's realistic, gives a cool girl vibe. The sweetness and gourmand quality still makes it palatable because the tobacco is really strong. But it's absolutely stunning. It's sensual too, very sexy. I picture this being worn by a rockstar, a musician, a fashionista, a femme fatale, in an edgy outfit, maybe some Vivienne Westwood and sky-high boots, thick eyeliner and red lipstick. In the dry down, it's less sweet and more tobacco comes through, becomes unisex. It's truly one of the most unique and intoxicating frags I've ever smelled.

Baltabarin

DIVIN'ENFANT is a brilliant masterpiece, embodying the distinctive ELDO style. It exudes an air of innocence, reminiscent of a child, both in its essence and aroma, yet fortunately, it transcends mere childlike qualities. This fragrance captures the essence of someone who has remarkably preserved a fragment of their childhood, delicately balanced between purity and corruption, navigating the realms of carefree amusement and indulgent hedonism.

The opening is disorienting, with the notes crowded together, evoking a mix of talcum powder, adhesive bandage, and extinguished cigarettes. However, everything settles neatly and wonderfully in its place.

The perfume possesses a dual nature that defies conventional wisdom, managing to coexist effortlessly. One facet exudes a sweet and childlike aura, exquisitely clean without becoming excessively saccharine, predominantly owing to the dominant presence of orange blossoms and musk. On the other hand, the second facet remains somewhat concealed and dark, unmentioned in the manufacturer's notes, hints of dry leather and burnt tobacco tantalizingly emerge, possibly influenced by heliotrope and the most profoundly dark patchouli I've ever encountered. My nose stops here, so I won't go further.

The dry-down is clean, fresh, and extremely reassuring, perhaps reflecting a less complicated and more blissfully happy moment in our lives.

Sanrio

Opened up with some green, bright neroli and quickly dried to tobacco, leather, and a hint of baby powder. I don't get the marshmallow since I don't get a lot of sweetness, but maybe it's adding to the powdery effect.

Either way I just absolutely hate it honestly, powdery baby products + leather and tobacco makes me think of a trashy car filled with cigarette butts and powdery air freshener to try and kill the smell.

xoxox1111

I don’t feel like it’s a safe blind buy, as most of the comments state, but I personally love it. The opening is very sweet and just slightly powdery. Afterwards it’s kind of weird, the coffee, leather and tobacco come off really strong and it smells just like a communistic cologne, some old herbs and spices and a wet ashtray, but this goes away very quickly. When it settles down, though, it’s one of the most elegant, beautiful scents to have ever touched my skin and the beautiful part lasts for a long time - tonka (or even vanilla, although not listed as a note), marshmallow and just slight hints of tobacco is what I could pick on, it also feels slightly soapy. The fragrance definitely evolves over time and the more it evolves, the more love it gets from me. It has received both compliments and hate. But it’s worth it. It’s addictive.

waywardspirit

Was just okay to me, feels like a safe blind by that is office appropriate. The opening was very powdery. Not sure if it was the named that evoked the association or not but I was thinking baby powder or the smell of new diapers. I never experienced the deeper Tobacco or Coffee vibes in it. Just a very airy powdery scent that had some slight florals in the dry down

tishwoodw

The first spray of this is addictive to me. I got through my full bottle of this very very fast. Sweet musky orange blossom.
I know the tobacco note is there somewhere because my usage of this spiked when I quit smoking.

MoctezumaC

I am on the fence about this one. For one, I don't get any tobacco or coffee notes here....Not in the opening or the dry down. Must be my body chemistry. The initial is powdery and I get the marshmallow note. The rose and amber go away after 1-2 hours.

What remains is the tonka and orange flower but the tonka overpowers everything on me. It ens up smelling more soapy on me...I don't get any orange flower unfortunately.

Overall, this scent is pretty, clean, warming (not to be confused with spicy). It is very comforting and calming. I finished the last 15-20 sprays of my bottle this evening. I am wearing it as my bed time scent and it is very sweet and cozy like a warm blanket.

Good night.....zzzz...zzzz.zz.zz

cherubcorpses

initial spray about 5 hours ago, and it's still goin strong, so props for that. however, so far, this is definitely not a scent that evolves over time. the first spray consists of just powder notes, not much else to remark on-- just straight powder. as time passes it's still definitely powdery, but more of the floral notes are starting to emerge. heavy on the rose and orange blossom. i can faintly make out a musky undertone and i'm hoping the tobacco notes will emerge later on. overall, this is not a complex scent and is overwhelmingly feminine. not a bad fragrance by any means though!

Vellocet

What’s most interesting with divin ’infant is the opening. It’s smoky and softly powdery at the same time. Truly unique and original and surprisingly good. In the dry down I can sense the gorgeous musky sweetness with just a little hint of coffee. I belive the smokiness in the opening is the tobacco note. I truly love this perfume! Will from now on be a staple in my collection

OtherHBT

Tried a sample bottle. Too oily of a smell feeling for me. Did not like it at all.

iris

Yet another example of ELDO's early approach, where literal verbal contradictions are translated into scent. Vaguely controversial poetry comes first, olfactory translation follows.
In this case it's the (dubious) innocence of a child and the supposedly unhealthy night life of adults. Marshmallow and orange blossom vs leather sofas, coffee and cigarettes, as seen in Fellini's "La Dolce Vita". Those late parties, after children are sent to sleep.
These parents are intellectuals, though, Their excess is not carnal. There's this clean candy smell, revealing there's a babysitter and a maid in charge, the smell of old school laundry products and a modernist library with some first editions. And from that sweetness, the more "adult" smell of fresh tobacco (of which D&G Pour Homme is the best example), as well as some toiletry bag powdery musk slowly start to take over.
Nice story, but in reality, as much as I adore orange flower, I just find it here contaminated. Unnecessarily so, as the other side, "the dark side" lacks enough definition.
I'd be more into this, were it counterpointed with some animalics, or incense (that's where another ELDO creation, Enecens et Bubblegum, was heading). Here, the borderline is just too smooth, notes are too close and the fragrance is neither "innocent", nor "guilty" enough. Too ambiguous IMHO. Get Encens et Bubblegum instead.

Gauxchujang

Smelled straight up like a baby on me. Powdery but nothing farcical and the composition is very representative of the name. I’m not complaining. It’s pleasant and lasts well. Maybe 6+ on average and braves through light exercise classes.

Ariell28

Wow! I sprayed it on my skin and it immediately transported me back to my childhood, where I smelled some perfumes on some close relatives' bathroom shelves... Masculine scents combined with baby powder, a note that I absolutely love. Blind buy, absolutely worth it. It might earn its way for a second bottle, as well as for a favourite perfume.
Edited: in warm weather, its performance is amped up. Absolutely love it. I feel it now, after 12 hours after spraying it.

JuloK

If this would be a movie, it would be Little Miss Sunshine, but backwards. The opening of this perfume is like the genuinely brilliant finale of the movie. It's Olive, the most innocent of the participants of the dark and cruel child beauty pageant, tearing away the stripper pants to Rick James' "Super Freak". Just like the movie, it still manages to be sweet, funny, even heart-warming and serious and deep at once. And just like the movie is a perfect example of brilliant film making, this is an excellent example of what niche perfumery is about. The development keeps you entertained and the notes are a pitch perfect cast. I love Little Miss Sunshine, and I love Divin'Enfant. Unfortunately, I do not have balls big enough to pull this off myself. But I'd love to smell this on anyone else.

Returntomonke

What's up with this brand? Given the notes this shoulb be a heavy hitter, and should lean masculine, but nope, it's quite the opposite.

Divin'Enfant atrts with a hefty, and I do mean hefty, dose of white flowers and musk. Quickly the marshmallow and tonka bean sweeten it up. Some tobacco also shines, but it'a very subtle and non-agressive. Even rhough they're not an official note I personally smell aldehydes( which Antoine Lee seems to be a big fan of). That's it, nothing changes, as this is the most linear frag that I've tested.
The end conconction is a sweet, flowery, borderline soapy musk with just a hint of tobacco. No rose, no coffee, no leather. Super agreeable, non-challenging.

I see this suitable for most times of the year- winter, spring and fall( is where DE will shine the most). Not something for warm/hot days as it will get super heavy and cloying.

This is not a unisex scent to my nose- it's super pretty, delicate and feminine. It can work for most occasuons- work, dates, casual gatherings, etc. It's ok, I guess. Nothing interesting. If you're into perfumery you've smelled this before.

Longevity is above average- I got 7 hrs from a sample. Projection is ok- it's not a beast, but it's noticeable.

In conclusion- a sweet, musky, powdery frag with hints of tobacco. Agreeable, pretty, delicate, non-challenging. Nothing groundbreaking, animalic. Very good longevity( somthing that ELDO seem to have a provlem with somethimes). Feminine. Works in cold/mild weather. Good quality. Great value for money, if you shop around. Not something that interests me, vut a great frag overall.

waterydepths

a very comforting fragrance to me, like if someone made you syrupy sweet licorice tea with lots of cream. i'm not sure why, but i've always gotten that sort of medicinal, licorice-anise impression from this perfume! this perfume is also the color lilac to me, if that makes any sense at all. i like it, for all of its milky, heady, skin-like glory, but it certainly isn't everyone's cup of tea.

MademoiselleMaya

Contrary to the notes listed it stays true to its name. Smells like an infant. Never thought I will smell an infant in a bottle and yet, a cute newborn baby is so obvious here that I cannot help but smile. I had no idea I know this scent. And yet I know it and it's unmistakably a baby. It is of course subtle thus. It is a gentle skin scent. Possibly has more aspects to discover but it amused me - it's as if a playful child wanted to seduce a potential parent into having it :)

lyrily

Sooooo much orange blossom, stay away if you dislike this note

FuNuFFu

This somehow manages to be childish, mature, delicate and sexy af at the same time. I have no idea how that works but I love it.

asiarakk

First 5 minutes - only white flower.
Powdery and delicately sweet. Very make-upy scent.
Also, style of this scent reminds me of Margelas “replica” line.

(Testing on my knees haha)

barwench

My first reaction to this perfume was disgust so I left it alone. Then I sniffed it again and it was still vile. I'm not surprised to see that this is the same nose behind Secretions Magnifiques. I'm going to pair it with some very strong white florals and see if I still hate it.

snopea

smells like a very clean baby smoking a black and mild

Mervozz

Opens sweet but still fresh thanks to the orange. Then I smelled a fleeting soft suede (leather?) and in 2 hours I needed to sniff hard to get anything from my wrists. Would be so good if it actually lasted and had some projection.

jmarie92

The fragrance is a complete shape-shifter for me!

In the bottle, it gives me “sexy baby powder” vibes. Clean, sweet and still a little sexy.

Upon first spray, it’s 100% earthy tobacco and fresh orange flower. Like someone smoking in a washroom filled with flowers. It’s sharp and fresh, no sweet marshmallow, no warmth.

After it begins to settle, the magic really sets in. The marshmallow begins to appear, it turns into a sweet, sexy and earthy gal and I LOVE it from here on out. My only issue is I wish this stage lasted longer because this fragrance fades SO QUICK on me. Like, 30 minutes and I hardly notice it at all.

alessiakote

I don't see how someone could dislike this honestly. Very balanced but sophisticated. I can't really distinguish the notes but it's a powdery clean, a bit floral, but comforting fragrance. If someone near me was wearing it, I would find it very pleasant. I don't get any tobacco though, I get a bit of marshmellow in the beginning, which despite the fact that I hate gourmands, I find really nice. Don't think I'll purchase, I would probably get bored easily. If you're looking for something quiet and decent but don't want to smell basic, go for it, totally worth the money.

Ground hound

A very complex fragrance.
Personally I smell a smoker`s room, it is the tobacco that is not just a plant, it is the smell in the curtains in the smoker`s room that have not been washed. Plus sweetness, amber and rose. Can`t really single out the marshmallow, just overall sweetness.
Very old school, even "granny", very controversial, and can put you off if you don`t find these old dusty smells nostalgic or comforting.
Interesting, not bad overall. Would not wear it though.

ArsinoeHelena

Strong heliotrope and marshmallow. Powder, tobacco, hint of booze, smoke and a lot of leather give me nostalgic discoteque vibes. Some chocolate, almond. Not a fb worthy but I wouldn't mind a decant.
edit: Changed my mind and got a bottle after all! Happy❤️😀. It took two samplings until I was sure, and it was worth it.

saintkoshka

a complete roller coaster ride. upon first spray, i detected a very prominent powdery orange note. this smells much like an orange scented baby powder that has that oddly familiar artificial sweetness that you can’t really describe as an object or distinct thing. I’m pretty sure according to fragrantica, that sweetness is the marshmallow. But as it dries down, you’ll get this oddly masculine leather scent mixed in with subtle tobacco notes that just continuously dances with those youthful, feminine notes. at first, it overtakes the scent, but as it goes on, the powdery, citrus sweetness comes back. If i could describe this in a short but concise sentence, it would be that this smells like what daddy issues smell like. The sweet, innocent notes compete with strong, and quite rugged notes. It is also important to note that this smells completely different on skin vs. on clothes. On clothes, the sweet and powdery side dominates more, and for my skin, the leathery and tobacco notes dominate more. lasting power is quite decent on me, sprayed this at 10 in the morning and as i am posting this, i can still detect hints of it. So i’d say it lasts for about 6-7 hours on clothes and 4-5 on my skin. Projection is quite decent too, not looking forward to it being too potent as those tobacco notes may render everyone around me nauseous, but it successfully makes itself wearable even in warmer days (but not too hot). Marketed as unisex, personally i can see why, but a lot are saying it’s more feminine– probably because the sweetness and powderiness dominates more than the tobacco and leather notes. Rating it a 10/10 for being a perfume with a tobacco note without being overbearing and being wearable while being in warmer climates, plus points too for its uniqueness and versatility.

R0me0

This one feels like a guilty pleasure. It’s become a go to for cozy days. The orange flower is the main character here, I do get the tonka which adds to the gourmand aspect. There’s the barest hint of tobacco which really makes this for me. Feels like a nice hug :)

smellworthy

Spicy baby lotion, best way I can describe it. A bottle of baby lotion in a mother's purse, but the mother is a smoker, and maybe spilled her vanilla latte on the purse a few times. It is definitely nostalgic to me, my mom is a smoker and coffee drinker too still to this day. Very interesting

reedkat_

Absolutely stunning. Powdery but warm, perfectly sweet, ELDO has done it again. I love when it gets to the tabacco-y, musky parts. Kind of headache-inducing, but aren't kids like that? I will never get bored of smelling this perfume. I think you could get away with wearing this for a wedding—it has the perfect kick, but it's still clean.

mpb23

Smells like what I'd expect Lucille Ball's living room couch pillow to smell like. A blend of old tobacco and few nostalgic perfumes of the era.. Like an elegant elderly smoker... I don't know how wearable it is as I'd feel like that lady - but this is absolutely something I want a wiff of on demand. It's an amazing fragrance!

ShinningLightOfThunder

It’s interesting and somehow indescribably nostalgic. Definitely not your everyday scent.

Niche_Nomade

As soon as I tried it, I realized instantly that I discovered a tremendous perfume. it's so more than just perfume for me, it's a new energy and, in a way, it's the future how I find my power to start up my day in order to open a new era where I will get id of all negative vibes inside me and around me, and this new perfume is the key element to trigger the energy inside me so that keep up this new principle of mine to build up and keep my new zen universe around me, you have all the classic vintage elements that you love in here, and with that little extra new niche molecules that makes it even more irresistible.

brokesta911

ELDO Divin’ Enfant (2006) - marshmallow musk - The daring #antoinelie creates one of the most heart-warming scents known to man - a baby’s musk. I get fluffy white marshmallows combined with white musks. Jasmine and Orange flower create freshness - the innocence of white florals. Yet, there’s depth to the perfume with Suede, Roasted coffee, Tobacco and Tonka bean lurking in the drydown. Balanced, nuanced and a delight - reminding me of the twisted personality of toddlers.

Mistress Eva

This is one of those times that I feel like I’m a blind-buy sorcerer. Despite being picky, I know how to pick a good blind buy. Divin’Enfant was an exceptionally good pick!

Divin’Enfant (Divine Child) was pretty risky. I am choosy about sweet scents; gourmands aren’t my thing. I made a calculated risk, figuring I would probably love it or hate it. Happily, this curious blend landed in my “love” category– a place reserved for a special few. I’m surprised I adore it as much as I do.

This is a unique scent. The “marshmallow” note is gentle, airy, and sweet, unlike anything I own. It isn’t the kind of sweetness that makes my teeth hurt. It isn’t saccharine or cloying or gourmand. On the contrary, it may be the most appealing sweetness I’ve come across in a long time. This sweetness is present upon first spray and remains consistent throughout the drydown. The rest of the composition evolves around it quite a lot. The opening includes notable tobacco, a smooth touch of coffee, and a whisper of leather, but these notes relax into the background during drydown. As the scent evolves, the marshmallow, musk, and orange flower take center stage. All the notes work together so smoothly. I have nothing like it in my 170+ fragrance collection.

clairesque

I wouldn't disparage this scent as being objectively bad or completely unwearable, but it brings up some extremely negative memories for me. Even in the dry down when the tobacco has faded into the background, I can't smell this as a perfume... only as faint memories of a sad childhood.

The opening of Divin Enfant smells like you've just opened the door of a minivan that belongs to a single mom of 4 after it's been sitting in a parking lot for several hours in the summer heat. It blasts you with the lingering odor of Mom's cigarettes, the smell of hot, cheap pleather seats, melted candy stuck to the floor, coffee and soda spills baked into the cupholders, and various diaper bag implements like baby wipes, hand sanitizer, and band-aids scattered about the car. All of it underscored by a faint mustiness that belies how long it's been since the car was cleaned. Again, the dry down is very powdery and less intense and tobacco-heavy, but it only serves to make you feel as though you've been riding in the car long enough to start getting used to the smell and for the air conditioning to blast particles of car air freshener throughout the vehicle to mask some of the odors.

GizPop

I love the description of Wst, below. It is very spot on. The tobacco is smoky and dominating in the beginning, suffocating the marshmallow and the powder. Strangely, the perfume gets more milky and the projection is fresh and a little soapy, so it doesn’t stay too much in that scary opening. It becomes more of a skin-like scent. A sort of alchemy is going on but I like the courage in such fragrances. This is really what niche is all about. And it is not at all a bad fragrance. I can imagine a health worker could also wear it.

Thatbwoy

This is ‘Unisex powerhouse!’

Sorry been wanting to say that for some time. Really though this has such a dazzling dichotomy ‘will she/won’t he’ traditionally notes fighting for attention. I love the mix of tobaccos (I think there’s a softer cherry sweet tobacco and a stronger dry green as well) and teeth-smacking sweet marshmallow.

I honestly did not know what to expect from this, as I have not disliked anything from this label soo far everything has been a positive. So was expecting (I suppose) a dud, something well blended but didn’t like. Not so.

I really like this.

I’m going to have to buy a full bottle of this for my wardrobe to wear during Autumn, winter and early Spring.

Rosieposie84

It's good. Definitely baby powder-y - Johnson's baby lotion reminiscent but with more depth and interest. My boyfriend loves it on me. I have to admit that I do find ELDO make some conceptually interesting perfumes - unusual combinations - baby powder with coffee and tobacco is a great concept for soft, warm, edgy, interesting - and this is one of their successes for me.

sistermoon

Divin'Enfant is all about fluffy white marshmallow sweetness with some soft suede/leather. The marshmallow grows and persists while the suede/leather is significantly toned down in the drydown. The sweetness turns almost lactonic. Overall this is a soft fluffy gourmand that reminds me of rice pudding. It's foody and delicious. But for some reason it starts bothering me after 30 minutes or so. It becomes distracting. This is one of those fragrances I initially like but can't wear. I would still very much enjoy smelling Divin'Enfant on a passerby.

aquilegia

Lolita on Humbert's lap

fantomette

Baby powder / wipes all the way to me !
Sometimes a little marshmallow peeks through, but it comes right back to baby powder / wipes. It’s a good perfume, the lasting power is really good and the scent bubble is fairly big. However, not my taste….

TatianaChoco

Refresh:
This scent became my signature. It is very playful and original. Sometimes I feel it is like my second skin.

At the beginning, there is very strong tabacco 🚬 After 10 minutes it slowly disappears to the background. It becomes nice sour sweet scent with the hint of sweets 🍬 and orange blossoms 🍊 This is extra longlasting, lasts 2-3 days on the clothes and 12 and more hours on the skin. This was my blind buy, but I like it so much, because it is special.

kmyechan

Strong sweet marshmallow, almost immediately overwhelmed by ashtray cigarette smoke.
Smelt like having coffee break with a group of smokers for about 15 minutes, then the sugary scent took over again... and finally it settles into tooth-achingly sweet orange blossom that makes Angel by Mugler smell positively diet.

This was way too sweet for my liking, and made me vaguely nauseous after a while, so I washed it off.
The remaining base scent after rinsing it off was lovely, though, and I can see how this would evolve into something nice after a few hours, but I just couldn't get over the sweetness.

ordje

At first, I didn’t quite know what to think about this fragrance. It reminded me of this fragrance my grandma used to wear when I was younger. But don’t get me wrong, not he kind of old-lady perfume but more of a vanilla-ish perfume.

I gave this a second chance today and I actually really like it. Not a big fan of the initial spray, since it leans more herbal/warm spicy. I do love the dry-down: a very warm sweet spicy fragrance with hints of tobacco in the background. Would love to wear this in the fall.

perfume_diary

I get strong tobacco in the opening (doesn't smell like ashtray or anything!!) but the dry down... the dry down is cosy, powdery smell. I don't mind the opening but it shines in drydown imo.

I am not getting coffee, i can tell there is marshmallow not because of the smell, it is giving a fluffy texture to the overall scent. Can't smell the coffee. It is reminding me something from my childhood but cant figure out what it is. All and all great scent but don't blind buy.

ladylisanne

It opens up rather masculine and strong, might be the coffee? But quickly when it dries down it turns into a very sexy unisex powdery sweet spicy scent. I dont like powdery scents usually, but i do love this. The tobacco is prominent but not in a gross way, works really well with the sweetness of the marsmallow! The orange flower is there for sure but i wouldnt call this a white floral. The leather is a lovely touch with the musk as well.
Very interesting sexy unisex scent!

ivadim

Абсолютно пристрастяващ аромат, имах много време мостра, на която не обърнах внимание и сега за първи път пръснах на кожа, влюбена съм, ще го търся. Носи ми настроение, подобно на citizen queen jhg.

Skinterpreter

The opening of this perfume smells rather odd to me - very herbal, sharp, to the point it feels almost...sour I guess? But after some time the fragrance mellows down a bit, and this is when I get the sweet, marshmallow-y, slightly bitter coffee part. So, the dry down is not bad at all, it's actually quite likeable to me, as I like sweet perfumes... But one needs to overcome the opening first. :D the orange flower is definitely there, too. I won't get a full bottle I think, at least not for now... But I expected far worse from the scent.

uno

The opening is tobacco ash in ashtray.... that I really hate.
after 10minuets, it shows sweet side, is it marshmallows and orange flowers?and then goes through leather and musk.finally it gets powdery sweet.

I will give another try.

fortunebaby

I really do not like this perfume. I feel I may like it more after wearing it for a while but initially it's a very strong smell that reminds me of the Avon roll on deoderants my mother use to buy, I think the one called Haiku if I remember correctly. Perhaps I will try this again and see how it is after dry down.

dogmeat

I've always thought the opening of Divin Enfant is a little jarring. There is something about the combination of the orange blossom and tobacco that is really strong and kind of sour to my nose. Once that fades though, the coffee and leather become more pronounced with a hint of sweetness. I find it cozy, but it also has a luxe quality about it. Over time, I've even come to not mind the opening because I like the drydown so much. Smelling Divin Enfant makes me think of sitting in the swanky parlor of a beautiful, old estate, maybe it's the tobacco and leather? This is a perfect fall/winter scent...soft and enveloping. Like many offerings from this house, this is unique and evocative. I love this stuff.

gtabasso

powdery with tobacco, orange blossom, lots of white musk and a little tonka; snuggly and nuzzly

acottong

This is an odd one but it's growing on me. The first time smelled Divin'Enfant it smelled purely like diaper cream to me! It was terrible. But trying it again, I get more of the marshmallow, coffee, floral, and leather notes. It's somewhat sweet but I wouldn't call it a gourmand with everything that's in it – it's definitely not a smell you want to eat!

That being said, it's quite comforting and is perfect to wear working from home on a fall day. It's a sweet coffee musk with an edgy, almost off-putting undertone. Definitely sample this one before you buy it.

MegWhite

Eww. That's my first reaction when I smell this. The second is also eww, for the record. I don't know how to describe it, but it definitely does not smell like marshmallows or any of the notes that are supposed to be in there. To me, it reeks of cheap incense sticks and old lady.

ai119

super cute smell, amazing longevity

cjoudas

A pleasant, pretty, powdery musk that puts up a good fight but dissolves into a close, sweet vanilla-marshmallow after about 4 hours, kind of reminiscent of a new barbie doll. Pleasant but indistinct from others in this same vein that come at a lower price point and last longer.

KöbiD

This is a perfect scent for a sunny and carefree afternoon in the fall. I perceive it mostly as a lovely combination of florals and tobacco and less as a sweet scent. I also get some Lush shopesque wafts throughout the day. Longevity is 12 hours plus when wearing on my clothes.

librabeing

This doesn't work for me at all. It bounces between two prominent scents: baby powder and a 500-year-old chocolate bar. Not pleasant on me.

Fragaddict123

Sweet sweet sweet
It’s like a candy fragrance
Not a bad thing for me
It last for a good while
It settles fast and lasts
Won’t recommend it to sweet fragrances haters

thecoffeeslayer

The leather note in this is pretty strong on me. The floral are very faint in the background. But the smell of marshmallows pops up now and then. They specifically remind me of the marshmallows that are found in children's cereal. The marshmallow and tobacco notes seem to pop up in conjunction with each other. It makes me somewhat nauseated. This probably won't happen to you.

unapassenger

This smells like a pattiserie of my dreams. Caramel, rose water, lemon tarts. It's crunchy and creamy, deliciously decadent. I feel the shop too, heavy stone walls, it's a bit colder than the outside, smells a bit earthy and reassuring.

dwarfplanet

This smells heavily of truck stop bathroom: smoke of cigarettes past smothered by a wet blanket of air freshener that doesn’t quite do the trick. This being said, I don’t dislike this fragrance. Though it’s not for me, I think that Divin Enfant could make a good cold-weather daytime scent for those with edgier taste. I’d love to catch a whiff of it on someone else. It’s just nostalgic enough to catch attention, with a complexity that keeps one interested. I think I would like this on a man as well, even though the reviews lean feminine.

tyleam

Floral soapy fragrance from the begining to the end. The opening rose is quite strong but subsides in about 2 hours. The floral soapy scent is persistent through out the course, but amber, musk, and leather notes start to shine when the floral notes become less intense. Not sure about tabacco, but my nose definitely doesn't pick up marshmallow and coffee notes. Maybe due to the same amber, musk, and leather notes in the profile, the dry down is very similar to Fils de Dieu, another EdP from Etat Libre d'Orange. It smells clean where the cleaness is driven by floral notes. I like it but prefer cleaness from green, citrusy, and woody notes.

Ionutzval84

Very similar to Sospiro Opera

Paula80

I suspect it's been reformulated ☹️ I had a decant of it years ago; it was a sweet marshmallow - orange blossom scent with a hint of leather and tobacco and a touch of roasted coffee beans. I got myself a partial bottle later (maybe 2 years ago) and all I get on my skin is leather with a bit of sweetness. So it's a reformulation or my skin chemistry has changed... It's not so bad but I don't like it as much as I loved the juice from the decant.

RoseBalm

I ordered a tester of this and was so excited- it has all the notes I love - but it was genuinely horrible! It smelled like a half smoked cigar and nothing else! The first perfume I’ve tried that I actually had to scrub off. Very disappointed and quite surprised- I was expecting a tobacco note (which I usually love) but this was bitter and horrible

Kateri81

This is Marie Antoinette wearing her boyfriend's leather jacket, smoking cigarette and snorting sweet meringues crushed to dust. Instant love!

RainbowGirl

I was disappointed that I could not pick out all the individual notes in this one. The ingredients amalgamate into a fresh woody floral. I for sure did not get the marshmallow, which is the reason I ordered a tester. I hoped for a marshmallow and wood perfume, but it smells zero marshmallow, and zero sweet. Not even in the drydown.

This is a strong wood perfume with a hint of a pretty light soapy floral. Like sitting on a freshly cut log near a bush of white florals. Smelled the same on my wrist as it did on the card. This is a unisex perfume that leans more masculine, and I would really enjoy this scent on a man.

NDStars

First blast of clean sweet powdery green, teetering on cloying and candied white florals. Thankfully the intense sweetness fades at bit, turns starchy, and leaves behind a fluffy soapy tone to the white florals. Looking through the notes and yes...That is it. Marshmallow. Hopefully the heavier leather and coffee notes start to bloom to anchor all this cloudy white sweetness. Projection is very strong. As it is now, it's a feminine perfume and only cold weather would tame this saccharine monster.

6+ hours later: The scent has stayed fairly linear on that sweet marshmallow floral scent, no coffee or leather notes, still going moderately strong now on my skin.

nickyt99

Bathroom of an old haunted Victorian mansion!

Nose_Bleed

somehow i never got interested in this, i suppose the name and marketing turned my interest away...
The sharp opening briefly reminds me of oud but it fades immediately. There is a powdery sensation but its more a sensation for me than a smell, like say iris would be. Leather, tobacco, traces of coffee and orange blossom transition into eachother above a hint of powdery sweetness at the heart. Strangely it reminds me of the time around 2010 and boys deodorant. Not for me personally but its a comfortingly playful scent that i cannot immagine being intrusive or obnxious

njwooding

Very light, powdery scent. Reminds me of pop culture depictions of heaven. The coffee and leather notes are creamy, and create a (perhaps unintentional) smooth and pleasant base for the more floral notes. I do definitely get marshmallow as well.

joshmcmxciii

This is my signature scent. It smells like baby powder, tobacco and leather.

CatBlanc

The opening reminds me of PRADA Candy EDP - dry benzoin vanilla pod sweetness.

Then something rubber-plastic sets in. If scents have texture this one would be like gummy bears - gelatinous, chewy, rubbery, liquorice-y with the sweet/ salty/ powdery olfactory profile.

It also has a certain tropical white floral DNA (i thought about ESTEE LAUDER's Brasil Dream).

I find this to be utterly intriguing, imaginative, unique and full of life. It does NOT remind me of babies or childhood. I wonder if it would be perceived differently if the name and marketing was otherwise.

I would totally wear this!

RJB94365

This scent recalls the shiny orange rubber bouncy balls from one's childhood.

jujy54

Ah, what's in a name? I've been blind sniffing the ELdO 20 sample box. Sometimes my impression jibes with the name, sometimes not,

Here's what I wrote on this one:

another ELdO sampler blind sniff. Complicated and interesting, woody, leathery, fleshy, coniferous or maybe minty, some aquatic, masculine, burly and urbane all at once. A flannel shirted wild man in Central Park. This may go on my to-buy short list.

Reveal: Divin Enfant. So, masculine, yes.

edit: I took a closer look at the name: it is Divin'Enfant, perchance a water baby?

pinkmossy

The opening is very sharp but once it settles I get the fluffiness of the marshmallows playing off the orange blossoms with the tobacco anchoring it in the background. Later the leather and coffee come in and the marshmallow fades, leaving you with the florals and the stronger scents.

Fluffy is the best word for this fragrance, it's not feminine or masculine. I find the sweetness blooms much better in the warmer months. I would have thought it was a cold weather perfume, but that marshmallow note loves the heat!

thescentclub

I tried this in their boutique in Paris in November 2019, was slightly turned off by the opening of the fragrance - something about it was too sharp to my nose - and decided I will buy Une amourette instead! I walked out of the store and I kept getting whiffs of a beautify warm and super unique scent and I thought to myself: I need to have this!

I think it is the orange blossom that adds a bit of sharpness to the opening, and I think this is the only annoying part to it, but once settled, I absolutely love the warmth and sweetness of this fragrance! Perfect for cold winter evenings, and I personally like mixing it with a smoky fragrance like BY THE FIREPLACE - replica - or Moonlight Shadow by Prada.

mirrorghost

at first i get a lot of orange flower with a hint of the marshmallow, then the marshmallow gets stronger and smells baby powderish. later i get some tonka and musk and maybe the tiniest hint of rose. primarily i'd say it's marshmallow and tonka. it's soft and comforting and would be a good sleep scent during this phase...but then it sort of changes and in the end i'm left with a soft sweet musk.

BethW

Baby wipes and rolling tobacco.

Kim Kirk

Not for me. Smells like baby powder and baby wipes. I couldn't get past that. Don't get me wrong....I love babies but I'm way past those days.

QueenieIrenie

This one was one of the much more interesting/unique/weird samples that I got in the ELDO sampler box. It started off sweet and smoky. One of the other reviews mentioned hairspray and salon smell, and I definitely picked up on that too. After about an hour, I got a whiff of cleaning products smelled with smoke, but nicer-smelling cleaning products such as Method's wood cleaner, as opposed to Pledge or bleach. After several hours, it was very pleasing and lingering, but not enough to make me buy the full bottle, compared with some other samples in the box. EDIT: it's been a full 24 hours or so and I can still smell the smokier notes on my wrist. I enjoy it more now than when I initially sprayed it.

elledeelee

The smell of budget shampoo and hairspray which waft around you while you sip on an instant coffee in a recently sanitised hospital corridor. The coffee, leather and tobacco are an interesting contrast to the sweet orange marshmallows, but I enjoy the idea of the concept much more than its actual execution. I love a sweet, pretty scent juxtaposed with a dirty undertone, but as with several perfumes from this house I am finding it to be too talcum powdery for me.
When I smell this, overall I have the experience of simultaneously listening to two different songs, each played into one ear. They don't quite go together - although every now and then the beats do coincidentally match up. But, at least I'm breaking out of my old playlists and trying something new.

tessiebee

This is interesting if not exactly something I like. Starts off sweet marshmallowy floral and goes something akin to sudocreme, but sweet and floral. I'm not sophisticated enough for this yet I can't detect tobacco, leather or coffee. Nice to try though and lasts as a creamy sweet scent a good few hours. Smells thick and tactile but not heavy.

cheerybunny

I was lured in by the notes of tobacco and coffee, so I got my hands on a sample. This smells like an odd/interesting juxtaposition of tobacco and baby powder. It is also quite heady. Not sure how I feel about this but I am definitely surprised at how ELDO's description seems to actually fit the scent. I don't love it but I also don't hate it. It's unique and interesting, I'm glad I sampled first.

mschnabel666

Wow, in my collection of 400+ bottles, I never wear one scent several days in a row. I now have with Divine Enfant. I LOVE THIS!

So innocent and yet so naughty!!! Fluffy, powdery and sweet- just like a baby. Innocent. Like Ombre Rose or a Love's Baby Soft. But yet naughty- like Citizen Queen (this is what I wanted CQ to be!)

A clean musk makes this smell "vintage" or old.

But then the leather (that fuel oil/chemical leather of ELDOs), tobacco, and musk make this very very naughty. I get whiffs of sassy "skank" that make me smile. So decadent and nasty!

This throws me back to my gourmand days. This is Pink Sugar worn by a deadly femme fatale.

My first tissue test is very clean cottony/powder/musk (vintage smelling) but skin-wearing is what makes this scent.

I wore heavily ALL weekend, and it has great lasting power and decent sillage.

mschnabel666

Ohhhh this is finally the ELDO for me!

I have Jasmin et Cigarette, and wooooo---- it's too real. Too much cig. DE does the cold wet tobacco of JeC better.

I have Rein-- and that is too masculine/chemical on steroids. DE has the same leather note, but better.

Divin Enfant a perfect fit for me. Enough tobacco and leather to be noticeable/weird but it's also clean and sweet. Clean like a really really fancy bathroom and sweet with the fluffy marshmallows. It's weird and hard to appreciate because it does resemble a bathroom cleaner. :D

The only thing I don't get is coffee.

I love this!

Drying down gets sweeter and more generic- a musky marshmallow. Still tho, I think it's fantastic!

And here comes the coffee!!! But more like a Britney Spears Private Show coffee.

Sweet from the marshmallow, Bittergreen probably from the tobacco leather mix, Floral from the orange blossom, a bit powdery, and it reminds me of a bag of cosmetics. Not my type because its way too sweet, and the green tobacco throws me off. However, this was undoubtedly interesting. (4/10)

Pretty good considering it’s an ELDO fragrance. But still smells like toilet bleach.

Buying 12 ELDO samples probably wasn’t my smartest move. I thought ELDO would be right up my street considering I am interested in niche perfumery. But these are just far too conceptual and very very pungent. I like a fragrance to enhance my identity and my mood, not give me a personality transplant.

Innocence in a bottle, envokes feelings of joy hope and optimism. Great projection, drydown and longevity. Wearing this one, even the greatest sinner would be granted forgiveness.

dzingunyte

this fragrance is oldfashioned in way,but also very modern. perfect mood lifter for these grey, humid November days.. rocking this today in my freshly washed hair, smells DIVINE!

Dazzler

It's one of my all time favorite fragrances, and I fell in love with it the moment I smelled it for the first time.

What makes this one special, is the combination of floral sweetness and the bitter and serious vapor of tobacco as it fuses into something that makes the person wearing it appear interesting, playful and elegant, yet adventurous and dangerous. For certain, this is not a fragrance for everyone.

Divin Enfant is for all of those out there, that want to wear confidence in a bottle as it definitely screams "Don't come too close to me... but if you do, you might actually encounter someone who is really nice!"

Sandalwood__

My little baby has been garnering me up some feedback lol. This is perfect for spring and summer. The marshmallows just hug you and embraces those around you. The rose is mellow, giving it a velvety feel, some mystique. I really like this one

DT953

I would say that this is quite similar to a classical style floral scent. It doesn't feel quite vintage, but the combination of dry tobacco and neroli remind me a bit of scents based around Italy. The marshmallow, however, is entirely modern. It isn't overly sweet, but it's 'fluffy' in texture which prevents the scent from being TOO serious or austere. Without it, it would be very poised and elegant but also incredibly standoffish. Hard to describe in any real way apart from how the note pyramid does. This one is fairly accurate. It's incredibly beautiful. For any age, predominantly femine although a man could pull this off.

A beautiful sweet perfume. Very sweet and lovely, I'm looking for a bottle if you have it and not love. It's hard to describe this one, Very feminine with a hint of a Odori type tobacco, and a sweet leather, very interesting but probably one to test first. This is a big love for me. A+

Update I have a 100ml Lipstick On I'd like to swap for 100ml Divin'Enfant.

Bought a small test vial today. The opening is fresh and quirky with marshmallow, orange blossom, and tobacco. However these first notes evaporate really fast. 5 minutes later it was different. It briefly became leathery with hints of tonka beans.
However that did not last either. About 30 minutes later the rose, musk and amber took over and that's all I can smell now and it does not give any youthful vibe. In fact quite the opposite. It smells like an old lady. Grannies smell like that. I don't think I will be buying this scent.

Ivyswirl

Sweet, powdery with dark undertones. Like a really sweet, cute girl with a dark sense of humour for us non baby sorts.
I do see the resemblance to lotions and such but having no experience with baby related smells I couldn't give any specifics. Office friendly for me (not that I care, I intend to be smelled before I'm seen) and light as it took a few sprays but not too bad, most ELDO fragrances tend to leave a decent drydown. Not their weirdest or most amazing but I am again pleased with my blind buy.

pauroj

this smells like a baby , is ok but it disappears in 5 minutes , meh it is very nice while it last but what is the point it is gone so fast

Divin Enfant by Etat Libre d'Orange is the scent of a baby in a bottle. I was really hoping that this fragrance would be rich and creamy, however, my reality was instead a smooth, sweet talcum powder scent.

Don't get me wrong, this is an extremely pleasant scent. It's quite inoffensive despite its sweetness and relatively easy to wear. If one were to shake off the excess powder from a bag of white, fluffy marshmallows and bottle its scent, Divin Enfant wouldn't be far off the real thing. This is probably the closest you'll get to smelling like a walking marshmallow prior to being melted over a campfire.

I love Etat Libre d'Orange and their wacky fragrance line, but I must be honest when I say that Divin Enfant is the least interesting from their range. This is essentially a gourmand fragrance for those that don't like loud, big and bold scents.

The orange blossom heart is a stand-out on my skin, adding a lush floral aspect to a relatively sweet and powdery composition. This refreshing orange blossom accord makes this fragrance suitable for Spring and Summer wear.

I am glad that I satiated my curiosity with this fragrance, and although I enjoyed wearing it, I'm glad I spent my well-earned money on other scents from the house of Etat Libre d'Orange.

carlosrafael

A reviewer on YT described this perfume as baby lotion/cream for adults. That’s exactly what it smells like. The orange blossom and marshmallow combination gives this perfume a smell similar to a baby lotion/humectant/scented petrolatum that my wife used to put on our babies to prevent diaper irritation/rash. This is the adult version of it. This reviewer nailed it. I wish coffee, tobacco, amber and Tonka were stronger, and the neroli/marshmallow softer. Disappointed because the notes list is interesting.

kl99

Very nice: a modern rich caramelized orange blossoms cologne scent. Nice some dark "animal" sides which contrast with the angelic orange flower and marshmallow.

Actually the opening and the very first 20 minutes are the best part. After the sweet rogue side becomes too prominent and sticky.

An unfulfilled promise typical of childhood.

Also longevity has nothing of promising.

Remember me Ungaro by Ungaro (blue bottle of the 90s) and actually Joop Homme.

olleriksson

Some other people are talking about how the Lush stores smell just like this. I feel like that is slightly true, but it's also simplifying the fume. The little bit of tobacco adds something so rich to the Lush-like scent. It's still sweet and mellow though, which makes it a bit of a drawback for me. I like my frags a bit stronger and heavier, but I think I'll keep this sample that I have for now.

Saeid Scent

Too feminite to my nose.So sweet.Marshmallow and tobacco made it so cloying sweet.Sillage and longevity are great.but i can't see how a man can wear such overwhelming sweet fragrance. After about 30min orange blossom ,leather and coffee notes kick in and gives it a powdery-ness feeling, but still so sweet.if you think sweetness will be toned down after a while you are wrong.it continues destroyin your experience till the end!Not a safe blind buy.So be careful.Acceptable Price/Performance to me.

Among the few of the ELDO’s that I have sampled so far, this one is a winner when it comes to the longevity and aura. A very comfortable blend of soft tobacco scent with some sweet powder and a lot of tonka - but I like it.

The opening mesmerizes me with the orange blossoms that are dipped in creamy musk nuanced with some honey. It’s a good thing for me that the sweetness does not last that long and is not overly intensive. It soon gives way to the tobacco notes, soft leather, mild rose and powder, and that’s how it continues to play far into the dry down. Even though I find it leaning towards the feminine side, it’s because of the gourmand oriental impression that I would be occasionally wearing it, when the mood would call for it.

On her skin the perfume is immensely sensual, calm, warm and intimate. It creates a desire to be near to someone, to have someone in your arms.
To a man, this might be a scent invoking the feeling of calmness, being at home, in a haven, in the only place where everything is ok - and if now it is not, it would be, by the time the sun rises. Waiting for the dawn, in someone’s embrace, that feeling could make him pull his arms to his chest, crossing them inadvertently as if he has something to hold and keep safe. Something that isn’t there, but once was. Or that is yet to be?

This remands me of old Mugler Angel, before all the reformulations turned it into a cheap patchouli oil.

I imagine you're all familiar with the perfume that wafts inside and around Lush stores: Divin Enfant smells exactly like that.
Too sweet for my tastes, the tobacco, coffee and leather notes are completely lost on my skin.
Longevity is quite good, sillage rather poor.

joseffgabriel

This perfume is all about life and indeed a piece of art. It smells the stages of life of a person. First it smells marshmallow and orange blossoms. It smells really young. Then after an hour(or so) you will smell the middle age smells like coffee, cigarettes. The final drydown is leather, tonka and amber. This is really beautiful and you will appreciate this if you know life and art. Its not a crowd pleaser yes. Of course if you're into designers recycling recipe you would not like this. Wear this if you want to leave a scent trail of life and mystery. People will ask you if you apply too much. Somehow heavy and lasts long. It will transform on your skin depending on temperature. Unisex? Of course. You don't have to use perfume to scream on others nose your gender.

Mirabele

very interesting! ciggarettes, makeup powder, leather, lipstick, marsmallows - what a blend! i really liked it, but i have to test it more. i like the concept and like the smell. it is a still a bit too sweet to my taste so i have to find out whether i would be able to wear it often.

mrsg34

I love this little beauty, it's grown up in that there are tobacco nuances and an almost musty musk, yet it lets the inner child pop in and out with the marshmallow. The silage is light but the longevity is fabulous. Its sweet, but notcloying, it's a sophisticated sweet.
It's a sophisticated lady, cigarette in one hand, suede handbag in the other containing marshmallow and candy for later. Fabulous.

Edemay

The inside of a smokers leather bag, inside she has cigarettes, bubblegum and face powder that has smashed and coated the inside of her bag in a powder.
And i mean that in the best way possible, this scent is very nostalgic to me, probably because i grew up around smokers.
It smells classy to me, a little "musty" with just enough sweetness and a touch of bitter from the coffee beans.
Totally vintage smelling and with moderate sillage.

Edit: dry down is a very simplistic pleasant musk similar to narciso rodriguez essence.

paneradfisk

This is not a gourmand, which I kind of expected. It's very musky, powdery and a bit aldehydic, almost green, rendering this classy and soapy instead. The musk is white and starts screechy but becomes much softer and sweeter by time. A gentle orangeflower barely appears a bit later. I will keep this perfume although it's not at all my usual taste, it's interesting and I sense it may be absolutely right at some point. If I could reconstruct the notes, I would list white musk, aldehydes, maybe iris. I would place this in the same category as DKNY Cashmere Mist, Penhaligon's Artemisia and Serge Lutens Clair de musc. I'm impressed with the quality and will try Tilda Swinton Like This next time, it's supposed to be a wonderful gourmand.

Pianomelody

...At the beginning I was not surprised me a lot, but I felt something, like a desire to find out, and I did well. After a couple of minutes from the sweetness (not cloying) initial, evolves becoming almost "cold" as if a gust of cold air has arrived... the note of tobacco and musk blend with the orange blossom and marshmallow....there is the coffee notes but I do not detect much... tobacco is very present, and orange blossom obvious! What strikes me about this perfume is its Soft / Sweet duality stands at the beginning Mysterious / cold in its evolution ... interesting scent, which does not go unnoticed! I like it.

I bought this blind, wanting Marshmallows and the other notes sounded pleasant. This has not even the slightest hint of gourmand or marshmallow to my nose. Given that, I am wearing it trying to not have my expectations branded over the top of it.

So, in lieu of expectations I get smoky (think a somehow pleasant) ashtray in a leather shot with a bit of talcum finish. There's also a lot of laundry variety musk to ground and add freshness. Yes, there is a hint of orange blossom but not enough to call this sweet, certainly not by gourmand standards. Sample first, the voted notes period represents poorly.

ETA: Having owned this for about a year now, I have gotten to know the child better and, as often happens, facets of her personality have begun to make themselves known. Today, when the temperatures are dipping a bit, I am getting quite a lot of fluffy marshmallow. My guess is that the intensity of the summer hear doesn't allow it to come through. At any rate, this has, over time, become a real favorite.

Emma0714

Drooooool. Marshmallows on an open fire mixed with a wiff of newly roasted coffeebeans, like walking past one of those little coffee shops. And fruity tobacco leaves, like when you see people rolling them at a market stand. And leather, just a tad. Like walking past one of those leather shops you see in Old Towns of Mediterranean citys.

Lots of "walking by" in this one.

But mostly, fluffy, slightly warm marshmallows and smoke.

It's just so comforting, like a hug from someone that you really really care for, maybe even falling in love with. The warmth of sugar and kindness, and then you get a whiff of something else. Tobacco and smoke, giving some excitement to this persons unknown side perhaps. Or maybe I've just read too much fanfiction.

PaulGaltier79

Best gourmand ever, very natural and powerfull!!

Chicago Tony T

The opening is more powdery than sweet. After a few minutes it does get a bit sweeter from the coffee and Tonka but not over the top. After about an hour or the tobacco/leather dry down kicks in beautifully with the subtle wetness. The pyramid looks odd and it is but in a good way. The first couple hours sillage is very strong and then about hour 4 it dries to a skin scent and then is just about gone after 6 hours. It's a strong like but as mentioned nothing groundbreaking. If you like this, Midnight in Paris is one that you should sample as well.

Eau de Baby Herman. I had no idea I wanted a fragrance like this but after three wearings I am totally hooked. Contrast always makes a fragrance more interesting and this is one of the most intensely contrasting things I've ever smelled. Opens up strong with orange blossom, a decent kick of cozy tobacco, an extremely soft rose, and a gooey, candy sweet shaving cream/marshmallow fluff note. It's extremely hard to explain but to this nose it absolutely works. The dry down is where it gets exciting, every time I wear this it goes in a different direction! Ive had the sweetness linger all night, eventually becoming a warm candied coffee-tobacco-amber, while other times the leather has revved up its engine and it's become an interesting candied-rosey leather, and in hot weather the orange blossom shines all the way through. Every time I wear it I find something to appreciate and the fact that it keeps me on my toes earns it major brownie points. I think what makes this so captivating is the fact that it is completely androgynous. Simultaneously delicate and powerful, masculine and feminine, young and old. It pokes fun at the concept of gender-specific fragrances. This is not a scent for MANLY MEN or GIRLY GIRLS, this is a scent of a human being who is complex, one who has strong sides and soft sides, and to me that makes it more realistically representative of people than most fragrances. It's like a high ranking CEO exploring a diaper fetish. Or maybe a girly girl exploring something a little leathery and dangerous. All very fun and very exciting. While it's weird, I find that it garners quite a few compliments. Performance is great. Too thick for hot weather but perfect for the fall and winter. All in all this is one of the stronger offerings from this house and if it sounds interesting to you I can't recommend it enough.

spaniel

Not a bad gourmand. Opens very sweet, almost cloying, but settles into a musky coffee, vanilla and leather drydown. Interesting scent. Not entirely my cup of tea, but I suspect is the kind of fragrance girls like on guys more than guys like on themselves.

nero77

Naughty but nice...

Ok so this is where Etat Libre d'Orange starts to get it's reputation from, a "controversial" concept! Here they take the image of a child, using happy, childish, "innocent" notes: marshmallow, orange blossom, rose, soft musk, and combine them with "adult" or "grown-up" notes like tobacco, coffee and leather. However they blend (surprisingly) quite well!

It opens up with a very sweet and cool orange blossom. Very sweet, which is also the marshmallow note. Then it gets softer (but still stays very "sweet & innocent"). Then the cold tobacco and hints of coffee and leather come through, very soft and fluffy. In fact, this whole fragrance could be described as "soft and fluffy"! It's really nice!

I think if you are a gourmand lover you would appreciate this one, or if you like sweet scents. It's not too cloying but it wafts across the skin giving a wonderful aroma throughout the day, and it's quite pleasing. It's a very "happy" and soft fragrance, I don't see the controversy here. I think people who like sweet scents would like this one. To me, Etat Libre d'Orange is not as controversial as people say (or indeed as their own marketing tends to make out)! I find this quite wearable. If you like soft, sweet, "fluffy" types of scents, then you'll like this.

Q80

imagine this:
it's a small room 4x4 m2 apartment and there is a young kid wearing red pants, yellow and white stripes shirt with a hat and fan on top having that large bag of candy,a delicious tasty mostly natural candy (using fruit sugar, or sugar cane), his grand dad sitting on a plastic rocking chair smoking that pipe and holding a mug of pure hot unsweetened coffee & he just picked those fresh baby oranges from the garden of his building. so imagine all these smells in a 4 by 4 meter square with no TV inside and a closed window in a sunny day at 10 am. sweetish dark coffeing orangious essence. quite good and the first 20 minutes (top note) is risky for a masculine man :)

fuggerone

tobacco leather and fuel, the drydown is weird... great scent for hot days!

AveParfum

Almost all reviews are positive before mine, but I'm telling it like it is to offer another point of view. This is another ELDO perfume that just smells totally synthetic, so I give up on this house. This smells like a children's multivitamin with old powdery makeup. I dont pick up any tobacco or leather or coffee whatsoever. This how all thier perfumes are on me--synthetic and lacking the depth they claim they have. Guess I've been spoiled by Tom Ford perfumes. For a perfume of this kind (mixing luxury with gourmand) I highly recommend L'Artisan's Dzing!--real leather and creamy caramel.

MimiJoy

This perfume is so unique I have to be in the mood for wearing it.
It's a game of opposites, an oxymoron bottled.
A child playing in her mother's high heels and a mischievous burlesque diva provoking to get a sexy spank. It's boldness disguised as naivety.
Bittersweet. Challenging, rather complex and multifaceted.
Unisex, but i do like it better on me than on my fiancé. Perfect for cold weather and darkness (leather, tobacco speak to me of a luxury boudoir)
A little goes a loooong way. The sillage is quite loud and it has a very good longevity, at least on my skin.

originaldeftom

Just discovered this formidable, creative and unusual brand and love their quirky, bold and daring creations.

Now here we have a classic case of "Enfant Terrible"!
Is it a boy or a girl? Hard to say. Before kids get into puberty they are really unisex, aren't they and they still have to "learn" their roles (as society expects them to behave gender specific).

This is certainly a child that does not want to conform or fall into any gender-specific category. It is the "Tom-boy" girl, that loves insects, plays football and does not wear dresses, as well as the shy, reserved little boy that plays with Barbie dolls, drawing unusual dresses and designs an entire collection from materials found anywhere around the house, garden, grand-dad's garden shed, etc).

As for the scent it is certainly heavenly sweet thanks to marshmallow notes and neroli but it is so beautifully juxtaposed with the cold tobacco that seems to act as the dividing line, the gender fence, between girly pink lolliepops and masculine leather notes combined with Tonka Beans and Coffee.

The development of all these notes will inevitably vary with the season, weather, your own gender, your mood and temper. On me it starts as a confused concotion, the "toys thrown out of pram moment", but soon the calming notes of tonka, marshmallow, neroli and coffee take the lead. Just as long as everything is going my way (spoiled little prat I am) until the cold tobacco throws another temper tantrum and unleashes the teasing musk, leather-whip, molesting your next victim that cannot resist your juvenile cocky charm.

It really is a perfume after my own heart. A devilish and childish blend of misbehaviour, shenannigans and petty crime. The sort of "trick or treat" for adults. But make no mistake, this is not banal or stupid...it was created always and foremost with the next cheeky prank in mind.

Now if only one could identify the culprit?

If only this child behaved, it would be genius! 9/10

Cologniac

just got a sample of a few ELdO scents today...from Divin Enfant i get more moka than anything else, certainly more than smoke or leather. It kind of reminded me of Bond no. 9 New Harlem (which is very coffee scented).

It is not a bad or unpleasant scent, just a little too sweet for my current taste.

muskymoi

Divin'Enfant catches in my throat from time to time, especially if I spray too much (i.e., more than 2 spritzes). But, I can't seem to help myself. It's such a little enigma, this perfume. I'm absolutely delighted by the play between the sweet and the leathery smoke of it. I have to keep myself from wearing it every day, lest I get sick of it (not possible?). What IS it about this perfume? How can something be so enchanting without being "pretty", per se, in the common understanding (these days) of "pretty" perfumes? I like being confounded by it. It's like that mysterious chick you can't figure out. I want to emulate this perfume...maybe that's why I want to wear it ALL THE TIME...

cologneking

Cloying, very sweet, candied-leather!

Na0

This is a quite interesting fragrance. But beware... You can't wear it anytime, anywhere, because I think it could be nauseous force to wear.

More like an experiment, a fun test or a very special occasion. For the smell itself, it's one of the most original fragrances from ELdO in my opinion.

You have a perfect duality between power and sweetness.
First, you smell the marshmallow, very sweety, cute with its delicate orange blossom on its hand. The innocence side.

And then, the perversion. Amber, musk, leather and tobacco, the quad aces, the four horsemen of masculinity, on the background. Making a strong, manly accord, diametrically opposite but, curiously, it doesn't indicate !

Well, Eloge du Traitre is subtitled "Sweet Lucifer", but I think this nickname is more accurate for this one.

This is really Lucifer, the pure archangel (Marshmallow) who dared to challenge (Manly background) God and then, falls into disgrace.

Hélio Sérgio Rocha

Etat Libre d'Orange - Divin Enfant

Here we have a marshmallow strong accord from the begining. It is quite sweet, but also soft and smooth.

Orange blossom brings warm perspective to its evolution too, but we can not see it as we can on other scents. The sweet from the opening lasts lots of hours making it not so complex and little bit boring.

Plus, we can not detect any tobacco or leather in it... So bad!

:(

Then, i can only get musc and woods till it fades.

Dry is still sweet and little powdery.

Too synthetic for me.
Sorry

:(

hadassa

Now, Domenico and Stefano, this is how a marshmallow perfume should be done ;)

Sweet marshmallow + intoxicating orange blossom + tartness of tobacco.

The tobacco note isn't smoky here, it smells like a new pack, filled with some strawberry flavored cigarettes probably.

The marshmallow isn't sickly sweet, it is rather transparently-powdery sweet.

And the orange blossom is just fresh and fragrant, very lovely.

I get some leather undertone, too, and a hint of coffee (creamy cappuccino).

It really reminds me of my early and mid teens, when I thought I was a rebel. I wore biker leather jackets that were two-three sizes too big for a tiny girl, smoked cherry flavored cigarettes, listened to heavy metal and was sure I'm cool and a grownup, hehe :)

Sweet times of innocence, when you're effortlessly fresh and pretty and need so little to feel special. For me, "Divin'Enfant" is a great portrayal of it, with a hint of irony.

In 5 words: tobacco, sweet, playful, fresh, unusual.

Thanx Allinug for a sample!
This is a true hug or go to dance-scent! Soft, warm and skinclose. Very sophisticated, elegant and womanish. I don't think this is a scent for men, but it can be my skintype who makes this a little bit darksweet. I can smell the leather, musk, amber and the Africa Orange flower mostly. Timeless - maybe not for teenagers but for everybody past 25, in my opinion. I will be looking for a bottle.

rubyhexagon

This is one of my favourite fragrances at the moment. I bought it in Zagreb last year and I have just rediscovered it. The cold wet weather here brings out its mellow, amberine qualities. It's somehow sexy and warm enough to be worn at night. I alternate it with Etro's Heliotrope during the day. Yum.

DancingVeggie

I really loved this at first. The orange blossom and amber made it really nice. Once that faded, I tried to figure out what it smelled like. After many hours, I finally concluded that it smelled exactly like a day in my father's hair salon in the 80's when you could smoke and cut hair at the same time: Final Net pump hair spray and stale cigarette. Blecch. I am sad. I really wanted to like this on me.

rosecat

I bought this blind thinking i love the notes surely i would love this! But no its not for me at all, not working with my skin, i forget some tobacco/candy combos don't work on me at all.. Its very strong, excellent silage & longevity. Its a very rich & thick fragrance, I get the leather, tobacco, sweet musk & marshmallow notes in almost equal combo. I would say this is unisex. Anyway I have a full 10ml mini up for swap, PM me.

My perception of Etat Libre d'Orange DIVIN'ENFANT really fluctuates a lot depending upon a variety of factors, including temperature, humidity, blood caffeine and sugar content, the movement of the stars and the tides.

Today, DIVIN'ENFANT seems rather leathery--almost the orange blossom analogue to Balmain JOLIE MADAME! The orange blossom is unmistakable and sometimes it smells very sweet, but not today for some reason. Today, DIVIN'ENFANT smells very sophisticated, like a brand new orange Hermès bag in which a couple of cigarettes have broken open and a bottle of 4711 has spilled.

As usual, this creation from ELdO really is creative, managing yet again to carve out a tract of previously uncharted territory on the grand olfactory map! Your mileage may vary (thanks for explaining that acronym to me, PBullFriend!), but on a day like today, I'd say that DIVIN'ENFANT is a perfect name for this scent because it seems to me as genderless as toddler and equally as innocent.

Orange blossom lovers take note: something under the sun is new!

renperd

First impression was of a woman wearing a white-flower perfume and smoking at least 20 cigarettes per day. Then the orange flower became more assertive and broke through the cigarette residue clinging to clothes, but not managing to dominate. I don't get much sweetness, on the contrary, there's a smoky bitterness that's rather pushy. The orange flower is related to Fleur du Mâle and Fahrenheit 32º, but with much more support from the "cigarette-smoke-in-clothes" accord. Interesting perfume, but I'm not sure it's quite my style.

A month later... I applied some on a handkerchief and it shows impressive longevity and quite a cloud of sillage. And a 1000 calories of sweetness. A powerful gourmand.

i am a man and ordered a sample

its more on the feminine side

SO no sense a man should order that stuff !!!

I would describe Divin d'Enfant as a sort of edgy, smudged, smoky rose scent with a welcome hint of vanilla in the drydown. Only not actually rosy ... I can't do it justice trying to describe! It's sweet and breezy and bold at the same time. I do not particularly like it, I am not going to wear it nor would I like my man to wear it, but it's an intriguing and complex thing. This scent hits my stomach in the spot where I get a little nauseated, yet I think it was worthwhile buying a sample anyway.

HappyShopper123

A lovely, slightly gourmand fragrance. The initial sweet notes could overwhelm but thankful dry down to a subtle mixture of sweet and leather. Gorgeous!

The name of Divin' Enfant comes from an old French jingle that I used to sing every Christmas all through elementary school, until utter satiation. I still occasionally catch myself humming its haunting chorus in the shower... brrr

Leaving the memory lane aside, Divin'Enfant the perfume is quite a piece of wicked art. Its bitter-sweetness is masterfully balanced by the tobacco leaves, coffee notes and the unexpected marshmallow-vanilla accord.

This is indeed a selfish, spoiled but irresistible child that flaunts a dark, vicious streak. A 15 year old Lolita that smokes daddy's cubans with her feet on his desk, while drinking his whiskey. Insolent, provocative, borderline illegal. And sweet all along :).

The official marketing description is in fact pretty spot-on. A sweet little monster indeed. Love it!

Grottola

Some fragrances are so warm and inviting that I feel they'd smell better as candles. Fragrances like Tobacco Vanille by Tom Ford and various Serge Lutens fragrances come to mind. Well, Divin' Enfant (Divine Child) joins that list. It's very warm and comforting, and smells, to my nose, a lot like the smell of a Lush store. Lush being the "natural" soap and fragrance company located at various shopping malls. Granted, Divine Child smells better than the Lush stores themselves, but I can't help but drawing that comparison. The warm, resinous tobacco and incense combine with the marshmallow (which I suspect is coumarin) and smell amazing. Never to sweet, never to smokey. There's a minor coffee note in there too. It lasts a while and the coumarin base is absolutely divine (heh).

Maybe I'll grow to like Divine Child enough and eventually to purchase a full bottle. I'll have to actually spray it on. For now I feel it would work a lot better as a candle, I feel, but there's no denying how good it is. It's technically unisex, but there's something masculine in feel about it. This one is my favorite of the Etat Libre d'Orange line along with Tom of Finland and Rossy de Palma.

alfarom

In my opinion this is one of the most disappointing releases by the guys at ELDO. I can't say that this composition is completely unsuccessful but it's definitely way too sweet. Divin'Enfant opens with an interesting accord of coffee and orange blossoms that while it's pretty strident it still has some charme. It could do great on the A*Men / Angel / Lolita Lempicka axis if just it didn't suddendly evolve into a generic woody ambery drydown of very little interest. If you like overwhelming sweetness in your fragrance you could enjoy this, but let me tell you that you can have plenty of better options at half the price.

I love the way this fragrance begins - a gorgeous fusion of amber and tobacco with a hint of something sweet. After a while, the leather notes come through and the amber seems to fade but the tobacco lingers on. Unfortunately, I find it quite soapy on dry-down but up to that point it really is divine!

Melchizedek

I'm afraid this is too sweet for me. Maybe it is because of the combination of the marshmallow and coffee, which makes it smelling like turkish delight.

This is truly a lovely, unisex/shared fragrance in EDP by a very unique and successful perfume House - Etat Libre d'Orange.

In saying that, 'Child Divine' may have a particular market for avant garde parfumistis rather than the average fragrance wearer.

I particularly sought out this fragrance because I'm a great fan of Orange Blossom and to me, it's my twin fragrance to Fleur du Male by JPG/Francis Kurkdjian.

It goes on heavy (and don't we love it!); but mellows into a more discreet and totally wearable drydown.

I know the sillage lasts, because I can actually smell it on myself for hours after I've initially sprayed it on.

For those of us who can appreciate this divine fragrance, enjoy wearing it as I do!

rach

This is one of my faves, wear it going out and always get compliments, lasts for hours too.

Contessa01

A very leathery tobacco scent. To me this smells a bit like an ash tray. I do like tobacco fragrances but this just does not do it for me. Possibly nice for a man.

wondering why i am a sucker on this as previously it did not appear as anything special to me, just sweet amber and some woodsy notes but i cant stop sniffing my wrist.
does this make sense to anyone at all?

Soft and perverse, this is my best perfume.

When the sweet marshmallow suddenly turns into tobacco, I get goosebumps and think that Divin'Enfant is a masterpiece when it comes to twisted perfumes.

Divin'Enfant makes me feel like a pervert for the sake of liking it so much! It's sexy, it boosts you with confidence, and it makes others feel puzzled. This summer, I got five compliments on D'E on a night out.

Irresistible. But the Divine Child is only for those who can understand the two sides of it. It's a work of art. * * * * *

Images of Baby Hermsn from 1988 movie, "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" came to mind when I read the description on the luckyscent.com site. "The top notes will make you coo and aww, and what follows will make you gasp in surprise." So I expected a sweet looking babe who smoked cigars.

It comes on very sweet and strong with a marshmallow scent. After 30 minutes, it does mellow out to an amber smell.

I waited and waited for the leather and floral notes to be introduced but they never came.

No "gasping surprise" ever came. Just a sweet baby cooing and needing tenderness.

I agree with fragrancefiend, this is more of a feminine fragrance. A nice scent overall.

Later in the day entry:
I ended up giving my co-worker the sample I had. Hours later I ran into her again a smell a beautiful sweet rose fragrance. When I asked her, she informed me that it was "the sample you gave me." I kept going to her office to take another smell of her wrist.

This is a beautiful feminime fragrance that starts out sweet and progresses to honeyed smoky leather or suede. The orange blossom must hang around and works with the musk to provide a sophisticated sweetness. The sillage is light but the wonderful aroma stays on the skin for several hours.
