This is not a rose fragrance to me in the top, but wait for it. It is very deep and not like Idylle. I immediately smell the synthetic odd ambrette note and a skanky animalic almost fetid musk with some rose that is more like damp mulched leaves in fall. It reminds me of the Jicky and L'Heure DNA. It is very very very soft and very much a skin scent. The rose comes more in the drydown but it is not a typical rose, not jammy, not quite green.More of a sour rose. I like it!

According to Guerlain website, this is a Chypre Floral called L'Extrait. It is composed of Rose Essence (the light rose used in all Idylle's), and Rose Absolute (a denser rose); Ambrette and Musk (from the hibiscus).

Idylle in Extrait version is something that is almost scary.
No wonder it is so unknown, especially in Italy, whereas other Extraits of historic Guerlain perfumes have been smelled by relatively many people.
I found it in Switzerland in St.Moritz, where I was on a short vacation in one of the few hotels we could afford in those parts. In the winter. Two precise memories I have of that trip: the cold p#@*@ and the Idylle Extrait.
The excruciating cold I was only able to neutralize for a few hours in a beautiful 3-story spa in a beautiful village. Through the windows we could see the snowy village square, being enjoyably gnude in the warmth.
There was a moment of empasse when I did not want to leave the steam room in which I would gladly have spent the rest of my life, when the Man came and dragged me away, while I huffed and kicked like a riotous cat and to the watchful eye of some Swiss spa attendant the thing looked like an attempt at harassement. He could not have known that my poor Man was already boiled like a sausage that a distracted cook had forgotten to shave before whisking him into the pot.
Idylle Extrait, on the other hand, was another episode....
We were walking in the cold through the streets of St.Moritz where the chic grisettes walk in the snow in stiletto heels and a hairdresser's bun, in perfect demodé style, while Man and I might have looked like the winter version of Tom Thumb and one of his taller, fatter brothers or even Kristpak and Petrektek.
At one point I noticed a very peculiar store with an open door. Inside was an unlikely amount of items: kitschy crystal vases, chandeliers, embroidered jackets, walking sticks with golden eagle heads...and then Him. On the shelf of a boiserie from afar I saw the golden drop bottle. There, too, the Man wanted to pull me away but did not catch me in time.
In front of the open door I tried knocking. Nothing. I tried again, "Guten Tag! Bonjour!" the Romansh I missed.
Peeking inside, at the back of the store, sunk in an old red leather chair stood a somewhat large old woman with white hair, totally asleep.
What do I do? Well, I didn't think 2 seconds about it. It was a tester, no price, so I did it myself and sprayed it on my wrist without asking the owner's permission. The Man had already walked away to the other side of the street, perhaps fearing the appearance of some gendarmerie, ready to declare, "I don't know her!"
Well, what can I say? A spray of pure divine beast essence, freshly soiled white flowers, and a heavy dose of a heavy, amber musky scent that I later learned were ambrette seeds.
Boom! A bomb. It didn't even seem like a person's perfume to me, but rather one of those musk scents of paradise described in Sufi poetic texts. Something similar might be Ubar by Amouage, but not as divine.
To buy it, even assuming I could wake the old woman up, was out of the question. So with that flash born of the union of Poros and Penia, aka Eros, I pulled out a cloth handkerchief I kept in my purse, I don't even know why, maybe for Idylle, I sprayed and soaked at least a little bit of the cloth with a bit of spray from the tester, clearly I didn't drain it. Grenouille-style enfleurage, but without the dead man.
The old woman had to sleep the sleep of her life not to wake up to that effluvium. I was already drooling myself with just a few splashes,
After that I emptied the transparent bag in which I kept the rice cakes as snacks and put the divine handkerchief in it.
I left smelling like a goddess and dressed like one. An uncanny juxtaposition.
At the hotel I took a travel cosmetics bottle that was clean and with the disposable gloves I always carry in my suitcase, I started squeezing the handkerchief to squeeze at least a few drops into the bottle. Of course, I kept the handkerchief as well.

I love Idylle fragrance in perfume concentration.
In perfume this fragrance sounds very soft, there are no harsh notes of musk in it, which I hear in other concentrations of this fragrance.
The perfume sounds very honeyed to me, with a beautiful bitterness of patchouli. Very persistent fragrance, not cloying, muted, soft, velvety sound of this composition.
Elegant, refined, elegant fragrance, very beautiful.

Beautiful fragrance, gorgeous bottle. I bought it because I love idyl. For me it is a working fragrance, stylish, not burdening me or others. The perfume is softer, lilac slips through. And yes iron and starched shirt are also present, but to a lesser extent, there is also warmth, there is something honeyed, creamy, but it is if you apply it under clothes, in warmth. Generally on hot skin or in summer it will sound warmer. But also this prickliness of it, like the collar of a white shirt, I like it very much. sharp, quick, not sweet at all, but not green-bitter either. Persistent!!! What surprised me from the format was the perfume. I won't say anything about the trail yet, I didn't get it. The skin is cold, so on me idyl sounds as from the bottle, to the base does not open. In summer in the heat will open up. And then there will be a rose, but so far there is none. Very beautiful. I have and t.v. and limited edition. I bought it seems to be expired, dusty so stood alone. But inside the beautiful packaging, the bottle is lovely ...

Sometimes perfumes are just just a quieter sounding perfume, closer to the body, without a bright plume.
Sometimes they are deeper and more persistent.
Sometimes the perfume is different in its sound with edT and edP concentrations.
This fragrance has the classic edP version and the perfume has a significant difference in sound (to my nose).
The edP is sweet and cloyingly loud! And that's what I like about it too.
The perfume sounds slightly different, it has an expressive spiciness, with a touch of bitterness.
If you love this nuance, I mean spiciness, you better pay attention to the perfume. For me, it is very beautiful. There is no sweetness in the perfume, which for me comes with a "+" sign. The perfume sounds beautiful. It's very beautiful!
