Unfortunately, all I get from this is quite an apologetic vanilla note. I say "unfortunately" - for some people, this will of course be perfect. For some reason, on my skin it bypasses lavender and any other notes of interest entirely - all well and good but to simply smell (very faintly) of vanilla for a few hours, I probably wouldn't pay more than Zara prices.

Clearly this isn't a universal experience - but as ever, shows the value of testing as based on the notes alone, this would have been a definite buy for me!

silkyvanilla

cannot even describe... warm and feminine. it is like hugging. very soft and feminine.

Anamandy

Boy, this in intense, and I'm not even trying the intense version. I purchased a dabber bottle mini and used only one little dab on the back of my hand and it is radiating all around me. I've come to love lavender, which I normally hate, when it is mixed with vanilla, as it is in Jicky and American Cream. Citrus notes are a big plus. But after trying and disliking Libre because of the orange note, I realize that I only like that combination if it is with lemon or bergamot. I certainly like it here too, but I think I am trying this at the wrong time of year. It is in the 70s right now where I live, and this is coming across almost sickly sweet. I think that if I did a proper wearing now it might put me over the edge to full blown nausea. I'll have to put this away and try again in cold weather when I think I'd be able to better appreciate it then. I am curious to know if the eau de toilette would wear a little differently and not be as sweet. Anyone care to comment on that?

chowdermeowder

Sharp initial burst of lavender, but pretty quickly dries down to a very powdery scent. After a while it sort of distills down to a beautiful vanilla. It's a bit powdery for my liking but I still love it (and the bottle!) so much

ZK87

I've tried this perfume so many times and it would appear I'm just not a fan of lavender. Even though lavender is a top note, it clings to my skin like crazy, so this scent ends up being a soft lavender-vanilla scent. Which I'm just not a fan of (the lavender that is). I also can't smell any other notes coming through.

I also found this to be very subtle on me and really had to put my nose in my wrist to get a good smell.

Maybe I wanted to like it because of the hype? But after on and off testing, it's an unfortunate no.

MaggieFrag

I really don't understand the hype around this fragrance. Every time I've tried to wear it, it just has a sharp artificial scent.

PorcelainDolly2003

Classic sophisticated scent, my mother's signature so to me it has a comforting smell as well. It's really beautiful wich is expected for Guerlain , highly recommend them

Sniffona

The dry down reminds me of some super-popular perfume from 10-20 years ago. Can anyone tell me which? It’s bugging me for days!

GIGI11

I love it but Living in a hot climate (Puerto Rico) it becomes a non-wearable perfume 80% of the time.
It's definitely for cold weather. Perfume for a lady like-soft women, until you try it in the heat.

caseykins

I don’t like the opening notes on this at all - it’s sharp and unpleasant, probably from the Bergamont. After a few minutes though, it settles into this gorgeously blended vanilla and lavender that is mouthwatering. A gourmand lover’s spring dream is how I would describe it. It’s perfectly balanced between floral freshness and creamy decadence.

Isabella Therese

Mon Guerlain is a comfort scent to me. The opening is a bit too spicy and harsh for me. I like bergamot, but in this case it's a bit too strong. However, the drydown is so cozy and comforting with pillowy vanilla, sandalwood, lavender and a tiny bit of licorice. Sometimes I use this as a bedtime scent, but I have to spray it at least an hour before going to bed to make sure the spiciness is gone. My husband likes when I wear it to bed, he loves the way our bedsheets smell the next morning. The longevity on my skin is 5-6 hours but it lasts forever on clothes (and other fabric). Moderate projection. 9/10.

BeatriceCetti

Love this one. I wonder if I'm the only one smelling some almond in it 🤷🏼♀️

Echo21

Lovely smell at first sniff and has great longevity on me. The more I wear it though, it takes me back to my youth and reminds me of the barbisol shaving cream my dad used. I don't know why, but it does. Overall, a long lasting fragrance that has nice projection.

Anarig97

While wearing this, I read a review that said this perfume has been compared to Burberry Goddess. The reviewer disagreed that they were similar. However, I agree with that opinion, and I love Burberry Goddess, so I, in turn, love this perfume. This is not as deep or as gourmand as Goddess. It is a lot lighter, and the other notes help to make it smell more floral and woody. It has a distinct identity, but I smelled remnants of Goddess. I also appreciated the sillage and longevity, especially as I got an entire day's worth out of this perfume. I highly recommend this perfume, especially if you are a fan of Goddess.

Jglishy97

It is lovely, but it opens with a very strong lavender note on me and it takes a while for it to die down.
That's not necessarily bad but I sometimes find it quite overpowering and off-putting.
Nevertheless this is a fairly light, breezy scent. Very feminine and I'd say it can be used every day, especially during spring.

Pewbom

This smell soooo heavenly on my bestie!! She smells amazing 24/7 because of this fragrance!!
So good everyone complimented her
but unfortunately not on my body chemistry at all . Idk why it’s smells wired lavender on me . But it’s so good frag i love to smell it. Elegant and expensive. It’s her signature scent since 2018
This is a good one but first you have to give it a try and see

OneSnifWonder

If anyone tells you you'll like this if you like Burberry Goddess, don't believe them. This is a very different, older-style fragrance to my nose. It struck me as too mature for an early 30's person.

Venussweden

I love this scent, oh I love it. BUT on me she does not last long, has weak projection, weak sillage. So she’s waaaay too expensive for what I get.
When I first tried her, she felt like me, Venus EDP. I’m all over the place. Motherly, wifey, divorcee, single, young, old, introverted, extraverted, open, closed, shy, not shy… she makes me wanna meditate, do yoga, get my tarot cards and listen to enya and google love spells and watch disney moves at the same time. Then she makes me feel like I want to be that perfect wifey again and she whispers that she’s the perfect scent to attract someone devoted and serious. (Well, we’ll see) 🤣🤣🤣

Can be worn all year round, anytime, any place…

addangel

this is such a lovely, everyday kind of scent. I like that the vanilla is not overpowering (like in Burberry Goddess, which gives me a headache and makes me smell like a bakery - biggest disappointment), and even the lavender note is tempered by the jasmine. I don't love jasmine half as much as I do lavender, but the combination just works. it's so beautifully blended. while I don't consider this a show stopper, beast perfume, it's also unique enough to not be run of the mill either. just the perfect balance.

I can see why people said Seductive Noir by Guess is a dupe of Mon. G. They smell similar. Even thought is not identically the same but the category are almost identical in my brain memory. Can be confuse by other that smell Mon.G before and never sniff seductive noir. They will get mix up brain memory.

I had seductive noir first and only get Mon. G EDP later on. The lavender mode are similar and the feel are similar too but Mon. G dry down are different. Seductive Noir is more flat, stick to one layer of notes, bring them to the end of the perfume life. S.Noir have not much layering of memory and more synthetic and chemical blend.

And Mon. G will keep evolve with different layer of scent and that layer start from thick hard to mild soft after time pass and bring to the end of the perfume life. This is more natural essential oil type of scent.
You can tell is different when do a side by side comparison.

Conclusion, Is fair enough with the price we paid.

Mon.G surprisingly is more masculine to me and I am glad, I did not get the intense version. I don’t think my nose can accept the intense version. As the EDP is strong to me.

Back to the note topic.

First impression are suck, strong lavender bug spray with alcohol and confusing scent and irritate my nose.

But is also a good sign of a powerful longevity and powerful sillage. They are pros and cons of a performance perfume vs non performance perfume. Those get great first impression perfume always don’t last long and not worth the price tag. Like you wear nothing.

So you must give them time to evolve. Since you must test them out.

First of all, the Lavender is strong at first spray but more strong herbal lavender but as time pass the lavender evolve to aromatic lavender, it smell pleasant when it project to the air and I get compliment by this. Even thought I still feel is strong on my skin but my next table colleague feel pleasant about the scent. They turning to a very soft airy aromatic scent.

And the sweetness of vanilla is moderate not sickening sweet. The dry down woody scent are detectable and very sandalwood. It well blend and the whole perfume smell natural spa aromatic herbal relax powdery. It very essential oil type of smell.

Not sure about other but you can’t overspray this. Is strong to me. The perfume longevity is powerful! More than 24 hours if you don’t shower. Still left the trace of mild scent on skin or cloth. This can be a night perfume and for your night pajamas.

The Sillage is also powerful, they linger in the air very long and when you left the place the scent mark down the place with the scent stay longer in the room.

It worth with what you paying the price.

This is a Must have in our collection.
I love it, never regret even though I had Seductive Noir something similar.

j.andresminor

My mother didn't liked it. She is not keen into vanilla combinated with coumarin or haba tonka spices, generally these notes altogether are a bit annoying and suffocates the floral and citric main notes of this scent. I find the sweetness ordinary in Mon

scentnut

I sampled this once in the winter and it was so pungent to me at that time I had to wash it off immediately. Fast forward to early March, and it’s a different beast. I adore lavender in all forms but here, initially, it is a bit camphorous - think Carmex. It fades quickly into a soft, licorice, tonka scent that I go nose blind to quickly. The way it pulls on me is unisex. I wanted more of the girly fluffy cloud aspect so many speak of. Chemistry / seasons / maybe even hormones have made it an enigma.

Adriennne

This is pure delight and femininity in a bottle 💗

prfmgrl

Disclaimer - when you first spray this, it smells like a (clean) diaper - straight up diaper.
First time I tried it I immediately washed it off and put it away. I tried again a few months later and almost* washed it off, but I'm glad I didn't!! After the first hour or so it completely transforms into a soft, clean powder-like scent that feels cozy and luxurious. Think soap/lotion powdery, not diaper powdery.

udzyna

This perfume is about balance. Everything is so balanced that you don't want to analyze and sort out the notes: what percentage of lavender, vanilla, patchouli was mixed here. Not the brightest perfume composition in a rather restrained package, but.. There is something so warm emotionally that all other moments fade into the background. Why did Angelina Jolie become the face of Mon Guerlain? Maybe for the perfumers of the fragrance, she is the same, ideal Mother... the mother who for a child is the most beautiful, the most kind and gentle. So is this perfume, seemingly simple and not very expressive, but so warm and soothing, like a mother's hug.

moonlitnightingale

I’m not a perfume collector or connoisseur by any means. I own literally exactly one bottle of perfume — this one. If you’re like me and prefer to have a signature scent that never changes from day to night, summer to winter, or office to formal occasions, I’ll tell you what sold me on this one. ☺️ (Yes, I wear this all day, every day and have for going on 2 years.)

1. It smells ah-mazing. That’s a given, right? But I love every stage of this, from the first bright flowery spray to the warm lavender vanilla on my skin for hours afterwards. I never get tired of it.
2. My skin tends to highlight the darkest notes in perfumes. Marc Jacobs Daisy smells like rotted flowers on my neck. Prada Candy Gloss turned to a black forest cake on my wrist. I can’t wear anything musk without suffocating from the leaky basement mothball scent. I always say my skin destroys beautiful scents like YSL Libre (musk) and La Vie Est Belle (patchouli). But not this one, finally.
3. It’s present, but not screechy. It’s there in that way that makes people think it’s a part of you. I never get compliments “in the wild”, but that’s not what it’s for. It’s not designed to turn heads or ask for attention. It’s like a stranger complimenting your eyes (assuming you have eyes that aren’t particularly striking at first glance). Most people won’t notice them, but when someone really looks at them for the first time, they inevitably say “wow, I’ve never noticed how beautiful your eyes are until now”. That’s *exactly* what I want in a signature scent. Taken for granted until you give it attention, and then people go “oh god yeah, now that you mention it, you do always smell amazing.”
4. As someone who’s not super into perfumes, I don’t for the life of me understand reviews saying this doesn’t last. I can’t get this off if I try (not that I want to. 🥰) It’s too pungent for me to even spray directly on my skin. I spray it in the air, wait 3 seconds, then walk through it, and still it’s almost too strong for me. And then when I come home 8 hours later, the whole hallway where I sprayed it *still* smells like it. It’s a quality fragrance and for me, it’s the energizer bunny, especially on clothes.
5. I use the Sleepy range from Lush (shower gel and body cream) and it’s a *byooootiful* layer under Mon Guerlain. Highly recommend.
6. It’s unique. I smell other popular perfumes all around me (I live in an urban area), especially flowerbomb and coco mademoiselle. But I’ve only ever smelled Mon Guerlain on one other woman in the 2 years since I bought it. She was wearing it either on or under her abaya and as I walked behind her, the wind caught her dress and I was hit with the most glorious wave of Mon Guerlain. I felt like between the two of us, we were taking that street over in scented style.

Anyhow, I love this scent. I imagine I’ll be repurchasing for at least the next few years. It’s a real part of my daily life, like deodorant and shampoo, and it’s so versatile. My love, my one and only.

Melody Valentine

@Old Elm are you sure you didn't buy Mon Guerlain Intense? The vanilla being more prominent than the lavender doesn't sound like the original MG. The Intense one has more vanilla in and is way sweeter and stronger. I prefer that one, though they're both beautiful, as this one is more fresh. Yours sounds gorgeous though, whatever it is.

Crys_

"Oooohhhh my God. Oooooohhhh my God, that's *beautiful *" - me, spraying my new bottle for the first time.

I tried this is a store a few months ago, wore it under my sleeve all day, and waited for a sale because I thought 'yes, that's very nice and I would like to wear it.'
Sale comes, purchased 50ml cuz I've learned my lesson on purchasing 100ml straight out the gate. I might find that I don't like it as much in the wild, right?

Wrong. The fact that I didn't buy 100ml is my deepest regret atm. The vanilla is VANILLA-ING, WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS. It's so so so creamy, what the hell? And the lavender underneath? The subtle-subtle woody warmth? This is my special perfume now.

And! It creates a gentle cloud around me in a way that nothing else I own does. Idek, like I have stuff that projects well, but this is like I washed my clothes in it, I guess?

Anyway, don't talk to me, I'm smelling myself.

FeleciaB

This is probably my second review of this scent. It never gets old to me. I am not a huge fan of lavender but somehow this is one of my all-time favorites. I LOVE vanilla but this isn't vanilla to me. I don't know why I love this so much since it's the opposite of what I usually enjoy. It's warm and comforting despite being a cold lavender scent to many.

nzgirl

I wonder if I got a wrong or bad decant sample because I don't smell even a drop of vanilla in this. It's overwhelmingly lavender with nothing else going on for me. It's not bad, but it just smells dated and too heavy for me and like something elderly church ladies would wear to service.

ciaramyrea

sephora has the 1oz on sale for $50!! def worth grabbing !!

vetiverry

FYI, soon to be switched to the bottles with the arrow-looking top, per Guerlain sales lady. In case anyone really likes the current bottle and wants to stock up.

Mistress Eva

A sweet lavender-vanilla blend with notable coumarin/iris supporting notes, Mon Guerlain has that delicate, decidedly French styling that Guerlain is known for. While I love my weird niche stuff, I still appreciate a good wearable and beautiful designer scent. Definitely FB worthy for me.

corona_caelum

This fragrance is unique to me. Definitely not generic even if similar perfumes have come out after, trying to copy it.

I first smelled it when it came out, and fell in love but didn't buy it until years later because I had other fragrances I wanted to finish first before buying new ones

The lavender makes this truly one of a kind, giving it a calming, aromatic and natural feel. It's effortlessly elegant.

It's rare when a fragrance is neither a super sexy in your face and sweet or a clean and fresh one, but still manages to be unique and memorable.

Longevity is great. I spray it in the morning and put up my hair. After a while I get used to it and can't sense it any more, but in the evening when I finally let my hair down I instantly smell the fragrance on it which lets me know it never left during the day

Might be too strong for a very hot weather, but other than that it's pretty versatile. Definitely signature worthy

jbsherry

I sampled this 4 years ago and couldn’t stand it- thought it was overwhelmingly powdery. Crazy how things can change as now I love it.

This is so evocative of mood for me: cuddly, soft, inviting, lightly sensual. I envision pillowy pink and the feeling of silk on freshly showered skin. To me, this is a masterpiece from Guerlain as it accomplishes exactly what it set out to do: capture the essence of a woman. It’s girlish, yet sophisticated. A quiet sensuality.
While it’s not groundbreaking (not everything needs to be) this makes me feel feminine and pretty.

As far as the scent itself, the initial burst of lavender is quite pleasant. It’s not abrasive or loud, instead it’s soothing and reminds me of soap you would find in a high end hotel or spa. The lavender gives way to vanilla, but in Guerlain fashion, it’s not a sickly sweet or artificial vanilla. Rather, it’s more of a burnt vanilla to my nose. There is powder throughout, which I assume comes from the iris. Although people tend to have great disdain for patchouli, here it’s subdued and provides a nice base to the fragrance. The licorice is there as well, but you have to look for it in the base as it’s subtle. Overall, it’s quite well blended.

Performance is moderate as is silage. It lasts on clothes quite a while.

Andy224

I love Iris on perfumes but certainly not loving how it is blended with a very strong lavender here. Way too vintage.

danarst

My goldilocks vanilla.

The lavender is aggressive and masculine at the initial blast, but it calms down very quickly and gives freshness to the vanilla. The iris makes this cozy huggable. And I appreciate that there is no sticky sweetness here, which means it’s wearable in warmer weather.

Been testing a lot of well known vanillas on the market. So far this is still the one.

ayamail26

This is BEAUTIFUL. So elegant and classy. I see this perfect for a winter bride 👰

Guess seductive noir is a pretty good dupe for this but in the dry down is where they differ.

Old Elm

On me this is a BEAST. A really pretty one, but dude. One little spray on my wrists is almost too much. Is anyone else's bottle SO SPICY? The warm spice profile on mine is immediate, intense, and eternal. I do get an incredibly strong sweetness from the vanilla too. To get to the notes that everyone is describing I have to spray it on my wrists, let it sit, then wash it off a little with water. Only then can I smell the lavender, etc.

I did purchase this bottle second-hand and I'm wondering if it either turned or is an old bottle and the vanilla has aged to beast mode. I have an original bottle of Burberry Brit that did that.

Disclaimer, I have an overactive olfactory thing going on and it might just be too strong for me. It is still beautiful but man, I would smell someone from across the room wearing even a little of this.

nanadabila

all time favorite and signature! sometimes we just want to smell pretty and this delivers that feeling, i have seen people mentioning this as a winter/cold fragrance but i have worn this in spring/summer and always gets me compliments <3
feminine but with some notable masculine notes, it’s bold but also comfortable, the lavander note is more present in the bottle as it dries down to a more vanilla note

nanukins

I would describe the scent as very feminine, not the innocent feminine but the carefree one. However, this does not project or last. So, its a waste of time.

oea10

Feminine, sexy, sweet. Initially, the smell is mostly a very strong lavender that I'm not too sure about. Then, it dries down and I'm obsessed. It becomes sweeter with a sophisticated, grown vanilla and woodiness. It's not a generic vanilla lavender scent at all.

Brigitttte

Unexpectedly peachy, i thought it would be more of a classy scent yet to me it smells like a young girls wardrobe

heresomeflowers

2024 and I'm still smitten over this. One of my all-time favorite perfumes and what started my perfume collection. Mon Guerlain never fails to put me in a good mood, what with notes like lavender and vanilla, Mon Guerlain induces a sense of calm and relaxation. It evokes a sense of opulence without being too loud and a sense of being put-together. Every movement gives you a whiff of this lovely fragrance. Definitely one for the books.

ettenig sayam

I have seen a few youtubers classify Mon Guerlain as "quiet luxury." Okay, that fits. Some people on this forum call it basic. I think that's accurate -- but a nicely done basic. This is the kind of fragrance you stash in your bag or locker or car for a quick refresh. It's not offensive. It's not loud or obnoxious. It's quiet. It's generically pleasant. It's not an insult to call something basic. Sometimes that's exactly what you want in a fragrance. If you only could have 1 fragrance for everything, this is not a bad choice. It wouldn't be my choice, but for the person for whom it fits, great for them. Personally, I just pick up the vanilla, an elegant vanilla, but vanilla nevertheless. I might be more enthusiastic if i could pick up the lavender a little bit more.

GUADELUPA

What a beautiful scent! Vanilla and lavender. By the way, lavender here is delicate, soft and very feminine. A very sophisticated combination of these two notes. This scent is dense, but incredibly light at the same time. The base notes for me are tonka bean and licorice. Two or three applications are enough! Sillage and longevity is excellent. I can smell it for some days on my clothes. After one year of use, I like it more and more. It's a real French Provence in the bottle!

Mshapiro2115

So i bought Mon Guerlain blind after reading the reviews and i am a vanilla lover. I have over 80+ perfumes and 90% have some sort of vanilla DNA in there somewhere. I bought Mon Guerlain not expecting it to be so vanilla. Like i really thought i was buying a floral with a touch of vanilla somewhere. I was so wrong. This perfume is absolutely divine. It's a different take on my usual vanilla. So sweet but the lavender is mixed so beautifully in the background so as not to take the shine off of the real star. Literally as soon as i received my bottle, I went straight back to Sephora's website and ordered a second bottle. This may be THE most feminine, beautifully mixed perfume i own ( second to Lira maybe but Mon Guerlain lasts way longer.) I will never not have this gem in my collection. It is absolute perfection if you want a vanilla that is sophisticated and feminine instead of gourmand (which i am a gourmand addict) or the usual vanilla. A masterpiece. Thank me later!

09pinkrose02

the prettiest most elegant girl you know wears this. my ultimate compliment-getter. it's sweet but not in a childish way, it's not gourmand or candy-like. It's the definition of sexy-sweet in a scent for me. lasts ages and smells amazing on the skin.

moonc

To me, this is a bit weak and soft. However, it is a scent that I want to keep smelling for a long time without getting tired of it. It is so good.

Meli567

I have never tried this, but right now it's a great price at sephora (online only). I will be passing on this purchase, however. Lavender and patchouli are both difficult notes for me.

tinekesmellsamazing

I tried this one on a test strip and when I found it in my jacket days later, I really loved it. It still smelled strongly of a warm vanilla, like Gloria by Cacharel. So I went back to try it again.
At first it smelled nice. Then it smelled exactly, and heavily, like a thick and creamy Shea Butter or Macadamia Body Butter from the Body Shop. Not unpleasant per se but not the goal of buying this type of perfume. After a few hours I can still smell the vanilla, but I didn’t enjoy the first few hours of the scent. Guess I won’t be getting this one, but I see why people would like it.

Edit: for the second time, the drydown smells addictively of vanilla and lasts absurdly long on clothes (as in days). Smells awesome now. Too bad I don’t like how it smells from about 30 minutes until hours later after spraying it.

Edit 2:
Found the test strip in my pocket again. Can’t resist. Ordered it online.

Update:
It smells divine. The not-so-great smell had to do with my skin chemistry. So I’ll just spray on clothes which is what I normally do anyway. I’m surprised not many seem to find it somewhat similar to Lolita Lempicka, a bit frangipani-ish, albeit better.

She’s absolutely gorgeous. I disregarded all the negative comments calling it basic, masculine, etc and I’m so so glad I did. Every perfume doesn’t need to be mind blowing, some of us just like to smell good. This is single-handedly one of the best perfumes I’ve ever smelled and I’ve smelled a lot. So soft, comforting, inviting, suitable for all occasions. Extremely underrated!

locustplague

The Bath & Body Works warm vanilla sugar craze of my youth has made me sidestep a lot of vanilla fragrances, as I tend to associate them with high school, but I do like this one. It's warm, comforting, and well-balanced. Not too sweet at all, but still leaning a little more towards gourmand. It's not particularly complex, just a happy, relaxing scent that's easy to like. I agree with those who feel it's more of a winter/fall scent, but the bergamot brightens it up just enough that I could see it being nice in the spring too. I honestly don't think it fits my personality or style very well, but I've still enjoyed wearing it.

The sillage is perfect- not so strong that it could irritate anyone, but definitely noticeable. I get lots of compliments on it, even though I spray conservatively. It lasts about 6 hours on my skin, a little longer on clothing.

Birdie123

Feminine, floral, and timeless! The only drawback for me is that I am not smeelling bergamot and it is missing that fresh, effervescent note!

Ambrenuit

This was my perfume of summer 2023, if fell in love with it so much, that I went through entire bottle before the autumn came. I rarely used something else and I was dousing myself with Mon Guerlain every day, I even converted few of my friends, one shop owner where I am regular to buy this :-) Many reviewers mentioned, that it is winter scent, but lavender is embodiment of summer for me. The ton of lavender complimented by bergamot, which gives it almost jammy feel, jasmine, rose and very prominent licorice and vanilla makes it delicious and summery, but wearable all year round, addictive scent and I never want to be without a bottle of this. It is charming, feminine, seductive and amazing, ignature worthy, versatile and ageless.

MPedro

This is highly underrated and deeply misunderstood. How can a fragrance be categorized as a "wife" scent (ew, shame on you, Jeremy) and a pre-teen perfume (I'm looking at you, Neil Chapman) at the same time?

Unfortunately, YouTubers haven't done much to avoid giving it a bad rep either. Jus de Rose has decluttered it, Clemence thinks it's just okay, Eugen says it's a sell-out product.

Meanwhile, Mon Guerlain nods at Jicky with the lavender, it includes the Guerlinade, and has the same sandalwood as Samsara in the far drydown (toned down, obviously, but still very much present). All of this in a modern, easy (but not simplistic) to wear, everyday, signature worthy fragrance. What more could you ask for?

Not every perfume needs to knock you out of your senses or let everyone know you've entered a room five minutes before you come in. Sometimes you just want to be chill and feel classy.

While we're at it, this is unissex as any fragrance can be. Not every man wants to smell of tobacco, rum and cloves :)

Chevelle Loves Scents

I blind bought this during a Sephora sale in November. Let's just say I fell in love with it! It was my wedding scent. I layer this with Tom Ford's Metallique.

yukikiki

I had to blind buy this perfume last year because I couldn't find a tester in stores and I'm so glad I did. It's very well blended - not too sweet, nor rich, nor powdery. It's perfectly versatile since you can feel put together while wearing it. Great for the office, casual days, semi formal events, and date nights as long as it's not overly formal or fancy.

I don't see an age with this one and feel it's the perfect scent for anyone, any age. A teenager could wear it, a young adult, and someone more senior can pull it off. I know this is highly associated with mom/wife fragrance, but I don't think it's because of the way it smells, but more of how it makes people feel. Hopefully, when you think of mom/wife, there's that comforting, caring, warm embrace sort of feeling - a safe and happy place that's always there when you need it. This fragrance is that feeling, which is why it's so versatile. However, I feel like this is a more feminine leaning fragrance. Don't get me wrong, I've passed by plenty of guys smelling of straight fruits and they smell amazing, but for some reason, I don't see MG as unisex, more feminine leaning.

The iris in this isn't too powdery but brings that softness to it. The lavender isn't at all sharp like most find in Libre line, and gives Mon Guerlain a comforting and huggable feeling to it, makes it very cozy almost. The vanilla sweetens it up and lessens the sharpness that the licorice has. The licorice isn't too strong either, it gives a slight spice to it that helps ground the fragrance without making the fragrance spicy. I'm not a particular fan of sandalwood and it's not all that detectable for me in here, although there is a slight woodiness, it's not nearly as 'creamy' that sandalwood usually gives.

I love this fragrance so much I looked into its flankers - the Intense and the EDT. The EDT is less sweet and more citrusy which I wasn't a fan of, and almost felt like the citrus wasn't blended as well into the MG DNA. More powdery than MG. The caramel didn't make it gourmand either. Needless to say the EDT wasn't my fave. Meanwhile, for the Intense, while it did have the added vanilla, it also had added licorice. So if you like that licorice in MG and want that amplified, go for the Intense. And since the lavender is toned down in Intense, it's less cozy. So adding all those components together, it sort of demands more attention compared to MG. While I liked the Intense, I don't think the original MG can be beat by its flankers.

It also smells like Seductive Noir from Guess - I have a sample of it, but there's just an element that's lacking in SN. Even so, it's a good dupe.

Like many say, the longevity is average. It disappears by the late afternoon during work - so it lasts maybe 6 hours. If you overspray, you'll have a wonderful bubble for a good 3 hours and it'll quickly diminish to an intimate bubble. But for me it's still absolutely worth it.

vixxiimcmlxxxvii

second, and 'real' review. my boyfriend gifted me this for Christmas.

it's pretty. it's FAR less strong than i remember it being. and far less strong than my tiny tester i've hoarded when worn side-by-side. it's pretty and pleasing still, and i'm grateful to own it, finally. yes, not too sweet, else i wouldn't want much to do with it at all. i'm not disappointed, but i think i might need to try the intense version, or other flankers.

i feel as though...this is one of those 'every woman should own this' perfumes. if you are grown--a mother, a wife, a professional, any female (or male, if you like scents like this) over the age of 26--you should have this, provided the scent profile interests you. it's appropriate to work, to parent-teacher conferences, a funeral??? sure!, a holiday, a brunch, maybe a date? i don't think i'd wear it for a *first* date; i guess it would depend on the type of guy he is/the type of girl you are. certainly a lunch date. but, it's approachable, huggable, calming, quiet. non-offensive. i think a stripper could make a LOT of money wearing a motherly scent like this. just saying!

all that said, i wore it on Christmas and i didn't receive a single compliment. which is luckily not why i wear perfume, but i did take note. i'm not used to that, not around my boyfriend's family. they normally all comment after a hug about how great i smell. granted, most were two sheets to the wind by the time we showed up after visiting my own family. and granted, our relationship with most of them has changed in the last year.

regardless, i think there's something to be said about a fragrance that can be tested and then haunt and taunt you until the day you finally--"FINALLY"--get your own bottle seven months later. it's a 'like' for now, even though i do 'love' it...i just 'love' a little deeper.

fragranceismypassion

I bought this perfume back in 2018 and finaly finished the bottle today. I realy liked in the tester but when i had ,it was somehow the last choice to wear. I find it boring and powdery i dont think i will buy anything from Guerlain again

KimberMoon

So pretty. I think it's versatile enough, one could wear it while dressed up and feel elegant, or while dressed casually just to get a boost from smelling lovely. It really is reminiscent of Guess Seductive Noir. The drydown of Mon Guerlain has the lavender that Guess does not, I guess the difference is that Guess has sage. Also, the lavender is not screechy, it's soft. If ever there was a safe blind buy, I would say this could be a contender.

CamJ27

I purchased a decant of this and today I finally got around to wearing it. I fell in love with it instantly, it is packed with vanilla and warmth without it being sickly. I immediately bought a bottle of it. It’s a perfectly well-rounded perfume for any time.

rene.saller

I didn't think I needed a bottle of Mon Guerlain, but I fell in love with the (very good) Oil Perfumery dupe of it, then a skimpy sample vial, and before long I decided I needed at least a 30-ml bottle for my collection, so I jumped on a good deal. I love the lavender, which I know some people complain about, or perceive as masculine, or associate with cleaning products, or some other variation on one of the common anti-lavender subjective preferences expressed on this forum. I also find the vanilla to be quite wonderful, balanced precisely between gourmand and floral. The coumarin note occasionally reads as tobacco to me, but for whatever reason it doesn't bother me here, maybe because the lavender is already a bit herbal-medicinal, in a good way. I guess in the end I don't really care if Mon Guerlain is a "basic bitch" perfume, or a mainstream department-store fragrance, or what have you. It's calming, pretty, delicate, and yet somehow glamorous to my nose, and it makes me feel clean and competent: not like a dessert but like someone who would know how to whip up an impressive dessert if necessary. I could see how this wouldn't appeal to lavender-and-vanilla haters, since essentially that's what this fragrance mostly is, but not liking lavender or vanilla is so alien to my perception of reality that I can't really entertain this possibility very long.

zokhruf.omer

My first time using it, i have a small 10ml, will definitely go for full bottle once this runs out. Love the licorice and vanilla and the muted, classy Lavender. Dislike the EDT and the Florale.
Smells better on clothes than on my skin (only this and Flowerbomb does that on me). Very classy, very feminine (the intense version feels unisex to me), rich, mature (not suitable for below 30s i feel).
My 16 year old said it smells like her memory of me when she was a toddler though I've never worn this before but it does have this cozy, homely yet hot mama vibe who is also a professional.
Only suitable for fall and winter, licorice and sweetness may be heavy and cloying for some in spring and summer. Day to night fragrance and while its widely loved, several people get nausea headaches from strong fragrances, i wouldn't consider this to be a safe blind buy especially for those who r new to fragrances.

Mimithenoynoy

Because of the good comments and recommendations I blind bought this fragrance. However, it is a big regret. I just do not like the scent, almost hate it. İt is so boring and there is nothing smells good to me at all. I do not know what is wrong with my nose or the fragrance?

Badbili

This is a safe blind buy. A classy, sweet, floral, feminine scent that could work all year long. This leans more day time for me, but could work in the night too. I could see a woman in her 30s wearing this - she’s got her life together, she’s not trying too hard, she’s buying baguettes and flowers for herself on Sundays. The “wife scent” comments definitely fit this fragrance - seems too mature for a teenager or someone in their early twenties, but is also not an old lady scent. It’s a safe scent that invites people in rather than screaming for attention. For some reason this scent feels veryyy French to me. I like it. Nothing super innovative, but it does what it aims to do. Thumbs up from me.

karinavi

First perfume I ever bought myself and it's gotten me the most compliments out of my whole collection especially from dates, but I'm just not in love with it anymore. Not the biggest fan of the opening which I find to be quite sharp, and I don't get to enjoy the honestly beautiful and comforting vanilla smoothness of the drydown for long enough as the longevity is a bit lacking. Will always be in my collection for the nostalgia.

fangpili

Not unpleasant but, for an EDP, its sillage and longevity is extremely poor, barely lasting an hour. I can barely smell this on me and it's rather generic and boring. Very disappointing from Guerlain.

Juhhcarneiro2

I honestly don't know if I love this perfume because of me or because it is my boyfriend's favorite. He loves this perfume on me, I always recive a lot of compliments when I'm using this one.

The difinition of wife scent, comfy, not too sweet, but is still a gourmand. Mature and sweet woman, smell that doesn't bother anyone, safe blind buy.

If it was a color, of course a soft pink/ lavender.
I think I wil aways have this one in my collection

ablesister

Nothing too bad to say, it's sweet and feminine. But a little 'basic' maybe? I associate Guerlain with old-school vibes. This is more youthful, 'popular girl,' does not smell particularly luxurious/high end.
edit- was wearing my sample and this man said i smelled so good... putting this one in the "male gaze" slot

Emerald615

My first Guerlain purchase. Love at first sniff and the drydown is even better. Smells like Cinderella in her beautiful blue dress - magic in the air, softness, dreamy, fluffy, sensual. Adore this.

Paddycake

Yes, I love it. It is like a dirty sexy scent. One of my favorites. It grew on me. I like that. It is very familiar now and classic and opulent. I keep changing my review to find the right words. There is a lot going on in this but it is well done. It is another one that I enjoy. Very full floral with sweetness? Pretty heavy unlike shalimar which seems lighter to me. Beautiful.

LittleMissBlasian

Blind bought during Sephora sale, skeptical at first. At first spray it was magical, might I add the bottle is something sophisticated and dreamy (I’m a sucker for cute bottles). I was instantly surprised because lavender is not my first choice in any perfume but this is GOLD. I wore it today at work and got 3 compliments. Signature worthy. 💞

MomGodess

I believe everyone has scents that sing the song of their skin. Mon Guerlain works extremely well on me.
I didn't realized the hype until everyone compared Burberry Goddess to her. No. They are not alike, but until this summer I thought it is my secret guilty pleasure.
What I adore in it:
1. Absolutely not common. In fact I have never smelled on anyone in real.
2. The drydown is heaven. And it gets better with time.
3. I use it since 2018. I pretty noseblind to it, but still it has an excellent sillage and longevity. I tested side by side with Black Orchid and Tom Ford has nothing on it regarding durability. Although the first hour is extrem loud in Black Orchid (still another masterpiece).
4. Every men loves it. Manmagnet. Period. Women also compliment it.
5. It has the mystery, the alchemy, the story that only Guerlains know.
6. All year round. All occasion compatible - signature worthy.

In previous reviews I talked about it that the ingredients are superior. Thierry Wasser and Delphine Jelk are geniuses.
I have the intense version when I want to put it on steroids but I truly adore the original.

I am testing a lot of new fragrances and try them out, but I never received as many compliment and success from any perfume. Not even close.

I consider it my signature, people know me by it and also it is a natural mood lifter.

I loved the original Stella McCartney and Samsara. So if you are in that alley, you might want to try Mon Guerlain, I can't imagine that anyone can be offended by it. It has zero unisex vibes, more of baby innocence. I hope it helped.

terineu

One of my favourite! It´s original and calming. When i first sprayed it, i was like what is that?! :( I only smelled the citrusy note but after a few minutes it punched me in the face in a GOOD way. Even though i am a sweet teen girly scent person this is my favourite ‘big girl’ fragrance.

katiesimpsonhair

I tried this today and I have to say it’s a let down for me. It’s a very vague and faint fragrance and a bit non descript. It reminds me of stake wee, I don’t understand the hype?it is nature smelling and ideal for a 70 year old up. I can only be honest in my opinion.

freshperfumer

So elegant but all I get from the whole fragrance is just lavender, from the opening to the full dry-down. That makes me too much of lavender and it felt like sometimes a room scent, but overall a good vanilla and lavendar combination. probably intense version might be better if it has more vanilla..

Longevity: 8-9 hrs (8/10)
Projection: 7/10
Sillage: 6/10

Chevelle Loves Scents

I just got this today and I am in love! It smells so good and gets better the longer I wear it.

Rosiewebber

Originally I found this too masculine, but loved how it smelt, just couldn’t wear it. I’ve come back to it a few times and found my enjoyment wearing it is growing.
It’s a very well blended scent, classic guerlain vanilla, a slightly masculine lavender note, a hint of iris, benzoin, liquorice, and sandalwood. I now do find it feminine, but not pretty or girlish. It’s warm and comforting, beautiful certainly, almost motherly in its nature (but not in a negative/grumpy way). It’s soft and cosy, but glamorous somehow. Lovely.

Rhi123

This smells "pretty" - it's sweet but not too sweet and comforting and airy and very feminine. It can be worn anywhere at any time of day or season. I'm not a fan of lavender, but this just stops the vanilla being too young or too sweet. The iris floral also adds a bit more complexity. It reminds me of Bath and Body Works Lavender Marshmallow candle! It is similar to Burberry Goddess too but Burberry Goddess is definitely sweeter and stronger and without the herbal element. I just wish Mon Guerlain had better longevity and sillage. It lasts a little longer on my clothes than my skin but would definitely say this is more a skin scent. Suitable for the office and very inoffensive. Not sure it's worth the price tag though so might have to try the intense version.

Delrey2002

It's like a comfort scent. I love it. When I first sprayed it I smelled a lot of lavender which bothered me as I'm not a big fan of lavender, but after a few moments it dried down beautifully. It's sweet and the vanilla is prominent. The lavender is still there but not with in bothering way. It just smells sweet, airy and feminine. I'd give it a 9/10, just because when you spray it you get a very strong sharp lavender. It also reminds me a little bit of Shalimar, but in a more youthful and modern way.

russianprincess98

She's sweet but not cloying, she's cozy, soft, graceful, loving, feminine, perfumey... a well-put-together woman who is caring, kinda flirty, she has her shit together. She probably bakes delicious cookies, gives good hugs and has a to-do list for everything. She's the definition of a hot Range Rover mom 😜 Doesn't go with my stage of life right now, but nevertheless one of my faves.

calo_calico

It’s very nice. I bought it because of the YouTube hype. Unfortunately, it is not me, and I don’t feel like me when I am wearing it. I feel like I am lying. Still though, it’s a very pleasant, well built scent. It’s comforting, elegant, reserved, softly enveloping, sophisticated, organized, grown up, reliable, and extremely self-possessed, none of those things with which I identify. This is a perfume for a woman who has earned it. I have not. I imagine if you love it, you have earned it.

90sbanana

The perfume I keep repurchasing. It’s just gorgeous. I have many bottles but I reach for it the most, especially right now when temperatures are dropping, it’s cozy, feminine, sweet but not too much, and the drydown lasts all day long sending whiffs of tonka and vanilla everywhere I go. Very few fragrances make me feel elegant and sexy at the same time but this is one of them. Also it is my most complimented by far and my boyfriend adores it !

xiongmao

my first real venture into designer perfumes and wow am i pleased!!! the scent starts off very floral and dries down into a soft vanilla. it lasts quite a while on me - i sprayed it on at 10am and could still smell it on my clothes after a hot, humid day at around 7pm. i have heard it works differently with different body chemistries but for me, it's an absolute 10/10 and i am so happy with it!

Danimcc90

Quite honestly one of the perfumes I’ll buy forever. It is just impossible to fault. I want to get the intense next considering how highly I think of this one. One of my all time favorites among all the niche I have smelled.

LuluCoconut

A balmy honey-like warm veil for the cooler part of the year. I prefer to perceive it that way most of the time. Other times I look at it as a collection of other Guerlain scents - there is a bit of Shalimar, La Petite Robe Noire, Insolence and maybe Terracota and a bunch of others too. Likeable and cozy.

CallMeT__

Woman killing it in a man’s world because the perfume is constructed using notes traditionally found in male fragrances. However this woman is feminine yet complex, bold, assertive, decisive, independent and confident!

Someone said that it’s not always safe to show vulnerability and to be hyper-feminine in a man’s world, yet Mon Guerlain does so effortlessly despite the masculine touches in its composition! I love femininity and womanhood and the super-powers that it gives me, and I feel that this perfume captures these aspects of me perfectly. It performs well. It is beautiful in all seasons and is adaptable to all occasions. The bottle is elegant. It’s a true love and a perfume I will always own.

Zainab Zain

Okay so i got this as an anniversary gift and agree with all the negative and positive comments 😂😂😂 i'll tell you how!

When i applied it on my skin i got a pretty smell with a smokey/grandma/sharp lavender note which most of you have been mentioning.

butttt believe me after the dry down, it creates an UNBELIEVABLE AND BEAUTIFUL AROMA IN THE AIR. And i don't know how! The first time i sprayed it 3-4 times and kept on wondering where is this beautiful smell coming from. Turned out it was my perfume 😂💖

Also, my husband kept on complimenting that its the prettiest perfume ever. He only complimented my Burberry her and narciso for her edp before out of all of my perfumes.

Bodie001

It's feminine, it's classy but it's nothing extraordinary. I get no lavender which is great because I really dislike lavender. It's also light on the patchouli. I mostly get a rosey vanilla fragrance. The longevity is average.

danielabalgos

I don’t understand the hate on this fragrance. I just wore this to the office and everyone (I mean, EVERYONE) commented how good I smelled. At first I thought I couldn’t smell a thing but being boosted by my Choco Musk oil from Al Rehab, this perfume is a banger. On its own, it’s a nicely-blended floral vanilla (leaning more in sort of vanilla-flavored wafer cone kind of gourmand) but with Al Rehab Choco Musk perfume oil, this is EXQUISITE. The sillage and projection are amazing (I was smelled by everyone who passed me by and my coworkers at 3-7m distance can smell me). This is probably the BEST blind buy ever.

cortana

This is one of my signature perfumes. It makes me feel strong and elegant. It’s calming and complex at the same time. A must have!

IzzyB

I wanted to like this also. It starts out ok but ends terribly. My chemistry must be really weird. I get no vanilla. Smells like an old man's pile of clothes to me. Is THAT lavender? I prefer the lavender in kids bath products.

missingbonnet

I've sampled parada paradox first so smelling this it's like a tamer version and doesnt really project much. It is a lovely gentle scent, I'd be tempted to get a full bottle if I sampled this first.

babypong

I want to like this, but I don't. It's sweet, complex, vanilla. Very unique. There's a strong cherry medical scent that doesn't go away until the scent completely weakens in 2 hours. It's generally weak with short lasting time, and while it lasts it's plasticky/medical smelling on my skin. I will give it another try, but until then, the sample I received will be the last I get.

ViouAmara

Healing.
Short rainy days in autumn are unexplainably breaking my heart, every year. As if the coldness, darkness and damp sky were suddenly cramping into my bones. It’s stupid but it’s killing me.
And than comes this one, this Mon Guerlain. Half survival blanket and half warrior armor. It covers me, it protects me, it also forces me to go out and breathe outside. And there together again we go: it will be ok.
I should write Guerlain a kind of a thank letter for creating such a thing.

Andrea2012

It's extremely watery, practically zero performance. Skinscent from the beginning, disappear in a half-hour.

BKNotes

Someone below called this sophisticated and inoffensive which I is the right call. I'm not a vanilla person and also don't often love lavender in my fragrances but I really enjoy Mon Guerlain. It's soothing, sweet, and gentle. I like it on cooler days but also wear it as a bedtime fragrance.

LeahLennon

I loved this fragrance as a signature scent that I bought it. After wearing it for one day I had to return it. The black licorice dry down so was overpowering it was all I could smell. I was so disappointed.

Maybe in the future I will try with EDT which I think didn't contain the licorice note.

In the mean timee I've discovered Burberry Goddess which is similar and it is my new fav for the fall season.

AquaRegia

Mon Guerlain is an utterly feminine fragrance that greets you with the soothing embrace of fougère lavender and settles gracefully into a velvety vanilla embrace. This harmonious blend envelops you in tranquility and joy, making it suitable for every season, weather, and time of day. Given its association with the sophisticated Angelina Jolie, it exudes a warm, plush, and delicately powdery sweetness. This fragrance perfectly embodies what many would consider a quintessential mall perfume—a well-balanced, moderately priced option that draws inspiration from a myriad of other beautifully feminine scents. In essence, this is the embodiment of the scent you'd identify with your beloved wife.

Merf21

I really enjoy this fragrance. It is quite powdery on me with hint of vanilla. I do not smell the lavender. It makes me think of fluffy pink pillows and it feels very feminine.

SilviaMoneva

It's all the good things they say. Can be a signature scent and it's great for transitional season (spring and autumn).more daytime appropriate . It is very sophisticated, elegant, feminine scent. Personally I feel very classy wearing this. Moderate to long lasting and moderate to strong silage.
I see why some people find it "not original" enough but keep in mind the reason is because many copied it in some way or another. And yet it is still timeless and beautiful and high quality perfume, and many designer lately are not.

jaynemansfield

Sophisticated and inoffensive. Mon by Guerlain is very floral and vanilla, but I think I expected a little more. It’s a very familiar scent. As someone else mentioned, it reminds me of a perfume counter. Mon will likely be a nice fragrance to most people’s noses, but the way it caters to everyone made this a tad generic.

Bluerabbit

When I first sampled this perfume, I was infatuated. It was almost citrusy fresh with the lavender which then mellowed into a mouthwatering note of juicyness that I can’t place. Reminds me of grapefruit. Then the vanilla came in warmly and comforting but not too heavy. Everything stayed very clean. Just when I thought the experience was over, I get a surprise- a pop of licorice!! I love how it isn’t a dominant note at all and does peek a boo. You would think you’re imagining things if you didn’t know the notes listed. I love licorice and this seemed like a perfect everyday scent for me all year round. However…. Now that it’s been in my possession about 6 months I have been disappointed in it. Whenever I go to put it on it feels a bit too stuffy, and I get that “department store perfume counter” vibe, which is not a vibe I like. It doesn’t feel youthful or vibrant. Sometimes I get the “pencil sharpener” smell from it but not all the time. I don’t care for pencil sharpener. I also find that this scent feels too spicy warm for summer yet too fruity and cold for winter. Now that it’s fall it seems appropriate. Perhaps it’s best suited to the spring and fall. But overall I’m a bit sad that this scent didn’t stay an obsession for me.

SwampHag

Elegant, understated. This is my go-to fragrance when I’m going to run errands: tidy, put together, dignified. Feminine but not particularly sexual.

There are base notes that remind me of the Shalimar my mother used to wear, so scent association with gentle, loving motherly types.

Lasts about 3 hours on me before reducing to a very close skin scent.

Mia80

It’s very rich, very flowery but has interesting notes coming out. Layered cake. It is sophisticated tho.

WhiteFlowerPrincess

This is a nice fragrance and it doesn't offend my nose or make me want to sneeze in any way, but I wouldn't spring to buy this and I don't find it particularly memorable at all.

Mon Guerlain is mainly a slightly elevated and moderately sweet vanilla fragrance to me with a good dose of sweet and almondy coumarin, a slightly spicy and gourmand licorice and a very vanillic and balsamic benzoin. I can smell a hint of bergamot in the top notes and flashes of iris in the heart notes here and there, but they are very faint. I can't smell the patchouli, lavender, rose or jasmine in this.

I find this a very mainstream and mass market smelling perfume for women who are just getting into fragrances and haven't developed their style yet. I feel like Mon Guerlain tries to be too many things to too many people and that Guerlain is trying to make this offering of theirs likable to everyone without succeeding. I'd even say it leans feminine but could possibly be worn by a brave man who is confident in his masculinity. It's not purely feminine.

I got both moderate sillage and moderate wear from this perfume on me, lasting 5 hours in total on my skin. I'd say that it is a fragrance most suited to both fall and winter and that you could wear it both day and night, though at night would be preferable to me.

The rating I'd give this fragrance is a rather solid (but nothing to write home about) 7/10.

Jezeleah

This gets me a lot of attention,…from bees. I have been stung while wearing this, luckily I got the stinger out immediately. Since then I have noticed bees come around me more often when I wear this fragrance in particular. I may have to wear this in colder months, when there are no bees, just like I do with the intense and also Lavandes Trianon. The culprit is lavender. Apparently bees love it. Who knew!

PerfumePixie87

The impression this gives me is of a basic recipe; one part fruity bergamot to one part soothing lavender to two parts sweet vanilla. This smells like a princess would smell. Sweet, juicy and floral and hyper feminine. Mon Guerlain's DNA is crowd-pleasing yet still elegant. I'm in my mid 30s and feel like it would suit someone in their 20s better. It is wonderfully blended, a classic for good reason. Whilst undeniably lovely, it lacks interest and for that fact alone I wouldn't buy a bottle.

KittyBaditty

This smells very common. It's all the common and safe things that make it smell like so many things coming out of the designer houses...feminine, inoffensive, floral, sweet. Just dull.

I tested this for a couple of days before giving it to my niece, and it made me think that while I dislike Chanel fragrances as a whole...at least they have a signature. They stand for their style. All the rest of the designers are just doing two things: inoffensive sweet florals or loud sweet gourmands. No wonder niche frags are taking off.

she’s sexy, she’s feminine, she’s sweet… she’s everything i’ve ever wanted

Viktorija_Stockholm

Overhyped perfume. I tried it a few times just to give it another shot and I just don’t get the hype 😁 very basic designer perfume, nothing special or memorable. Nothing complex just a lovely bottle and a nice floral feminine fragrance. Definitely a signature scent.

User123

This smells good!

ingenpen

I'm sorry to report, but I don't really get what's so special about this one. I love Guerlain, easily my favorite designer house, but if this was the first one I sniffed from them, I do not think I would be jumping to experience other perfumes by the house. It is pretty, it is sweet, but not overly so, it has a gorgeous bottle, it has lavender, but that's where my likes stop, and those are not strong likes (except packaging-wise).

I cannot say it smells bad, it does smell pretty (repeating myself here) but it is also lackluster somehow. The basic-st of the basic and not in a good way, it's just plain to me.

So I'm gonna try and go through my 30ml as fast as possible by layering it with other perfumes.

Just to note: I bought it on a discount and also, it smelled completely different when I sprayed it on my skin in a store. But upon wearing it daily, it just doesn't do it for me.

Im_only_lurking

Unfortunatey the opening is terrible on me. I'm going to get a lot of heat for this, but it smelled exactly like lavender cat litter for the first minutes and then it dried down to a vanilla skin scent. To clarify, with this one I confirmed my skin never likes lavender. It always turns into something weird.

Other than that, yep it's a classy one, but totally overhyped. Longevity is pretty weak too.

HV2023

Happily, I loved this perfume even though it was a gift from my husband to whom I said buy me anything Guerlain. He liked it as well but after awhile asked if there was anything else in my perfume cupboard as it appears that it has become overly familiar (to him). I had coworkers comment on the perfume and go hunting for it in my office. I did not realise that the scent carried one or two hours after the initial spray. I can smell it on my clothes afterwards and all its beautiful dry down which for me is the best of this perfume. Although I am partial to Guerlain perfumes.

HannahRosesAreRed

Mon Guerlain is the current, contemporary favorite of this famous and legendary house. After hearing everyone rant and rave about it, I got a chance to test this in an airport to see what the fuss was about. One spray, and I could see why this perfume is so beloved. Mon Guerlain has that distinct, airy and ethereal quality associated with Guerlain fragrances–I believe that's the iris note–coupled with sweet vanilla and heady, floral, aromatic lavender.

My skin chemistry is a weird combination of vanilla forward and perfume-eating. It absorbs fragrances quickly, but whatever notes it picks up, it picks up STRONG. That's how Mon Guerlain behaved on my skin. It lasted just under three hours on my wrist, but it was extremely powerful while there. The vanilla was strong, but the lavender came forward the most. Lavender is a tricky note–it can be too powerful and headachey at times, and sadly that's how it was on me. So for those testing–beware.

I do love it–Mon Guerlain is dainty, approachable, mature, feminine and sweet. Not the best match for my skin or my personality, but I tip my hat to this fine lady of perfumery.

aprilsantiano

This is my go to everyday perfume. It smells classy but not over bearing. The smell of licorice and lavender is very pronounced on me and I love it! A must have in my collection :)

Kaleigha

First spray reaction: Really pretty and soft. Not a ton of projection, but I am enjoying a waft of scent when I move. I think the three words I would use to sum it up on first try are cozy, classy, and soft.

Day two reaction: I am a bit disappointed, to be completely honest. I agree with most people who say it is a pretty, classy smell. Totally. But the performance is very weak. It was difficult to smell right after spraying, and a few hours in it was completely gone. Sad to say I thought it would be more of a powerhouse. Not sure I could justify getting a full bottle when the performance is quite what I like, but maybe down the line when I get my collection built up a bit.

Dorothy812

It took multiple wears for me to appreciate this one. At first, the lavender was too prominent, then the iris felt dusty and obnoxious, and it didn’t feel sweet enough for me, then too sweet. But as I wore it a little more and let it breathe, it’s a simple, feminine but three-dimensional scent. There is a baked quality to it, but also a little herbal freshness. It feels like the comfort of stepping outside into the sun for the first time after being sick. Not a love, but a solid like, and a good choice for fall.

sarage

Mon Guerlain is a very French perfume: feminine and elegant. It's feminine without screaming it loud. Notes blend well and nothing attacks your senses. Nothing cloying like in many modern high end perfumes, IMO. (Scents with strong orange blossom not to mention tuberose are too much for me.) I love the lavender in Mon Guerlain.

I recently bought Mon Guerlain and my family loves it, too. They are asking me to wear it all the time!
It has great longevity and strong sillage.
This might become my signature scent now when the season changes. I'm so happy I finally bought it.

Featherblossom

Calming, fresh and powdery lavender/iris scent.

I have a tester of this and it's nice but I don't like it enough to get a full bottle. It's almost boring? Doesn't last as long on me as I expected and became a skin scent within a few hours. The patchouli doesn't really agree with me either.

I'm kind of disappointed because I'd heard so many good things about this! Will try out the flankers.

Briar's Reign

Beautiful, enchanting scent. It's very soft and soothing yet seductive. Don't be afraid of the bergamot in here. It's present, but softened by the lavender and vanilla. Absolutely love this. Signature scent worthy.

sunnyviolets

Kinda reminds me of Naxos tbh. Like a lot.

Gourmandwoman41

I bought this one recently, and well, on me, this is pure licorice. I got it because of the lavander notes, but all I smell on me is licorice. I am surprised no one mentioned this but I find this fragrance very similar to Lolita lempicka premier parfum, but a less concentrated version. It may be my skin chemistry that is odd. I like it and this is a good fragrance, only regret buying it because I already own Lolita lempicka and love that scent, so for me this one is redundant in my collection.
I find it too sweet and there's no depth or any freshness, I will use it but won't repurchase. I was really hoping to feel the lavender.

VioletScented

Instant love. This is so beautifully blended and not too much of any one note. It's rounded, soft, and pillowy. So easy to wear. I find it to be the most soothing fragrance in my collection. The only downsides are that it wears pretty soft on me and after just a few hours it's basically gone. I'll see if I can hunt down the intense version to see if that might wear better, but until then I am very, very content with this.

Danimcc90

Perfection! I always come back to it. My new love Gabrielle Essence tries hard to steal the number one spot but there’s something extra special about this perfume. It’s never too much and I never regret spraying her. It has been my “signature scent” for two years now since I discovered her and I don’t think I want to smell like anything else for most of the time.

10/10 Just gorgeous!

ANNAFRYS

I can live without this perfume like world perfumery didnt achieve anything spectacular with it

nisarsarah9

The lavender and vanilla notes blended together makes this such a beautiful scent. This is my happy vibe kinda scent as I feel really happy and warm whenever I wear it. I usually wear it for formal occasions and this is best to be used during fall and spring season. Such a comforting scent, love this blend!!

jhindsb

Mon Guerlain is an absolutely stunning work of art. Classy, timeless, and very versatile. Everything one would want in a very feminine fragrance. Impressive performance so far in terms of longevity and sillage.

Bright bergamot and lavender on the opening, vanilla amber settles in almost immediately. I absolutely love the licorice note, it’s more of an anise to me but it adds a beautiful layer of complexity. I would say it’s a perfect balance between gourmand, floral, and herbal. Unlike the majority of reviewers, the lavender isn’t very strong on me but I’m not complaining.

This is what I would call the “every woman” scent. It’s not too mature, not too youthful. Classy and well spoken, yet romantic and comforting. It’s the scent you want on a lover’s sweater, a pillowcase, a mother’s embrace. At the same time a head turner on the street.

My only reservation is that the iris is a little too pronounced for my taste, especially on my wrists and arms. For this reason, I don’t think I will wear it in hot weather as it seems to turn powdery on the warmest point of my body. This could very well be a me problem as other fragrances have a tendency to turn too musky on my pulse points. On my neck and hair, however, it’s primarily vanilla and benzoin. Hesitant to pull the trigger on a full size until I can test it in cooler weather. Otherwise it’s sooo full bottle worthy.

Update: A few hours later I’m picking up more patchouli. Also not a fave of mine, I don’t mind it in this fragrance toooo much although I could do without it. but this fragrance is so multidimensional that it’s ebbing and flowing between the base notes.

I may go with the EDT since it doesn’t have the iris and patchouli if what reviewers are saying about it being a year-round scent are true.

FINAL VERDICT: Okay, this is a new love for me. Absolute signature worthy fragrance, getting a full bottle immediately. This will be in my arsenal for a long long time.

ambervxyjul

My second review! This is truly a masterpiece. It’s so likable and balanced well. In my top 3 for life! The lavender, vanilla and tobacco mix is so dreamy and comforting. Smells familiar and brings a smile to my face. I hope they never discontinue this! I’m in a niche fragrance hole right now and I keep using my life savings for $350 perfumes but this is stunning and surprisingly my favorite so far.

Longevity and projection are great! The smell that lingers on clothes is a comforting scent. My man doesn’t really notice many perfumes I wear but he instantly complimented me on this one and even sprayed a few times on himself. It leans more feminine but can be for a man if worn right.

Allthingssmelly

I love this perfume so much!!! This is one of the most beautiful fragrances I've ever owned. It's clean, warm and almost spa like. I find it comforting and delightful. This can be worn in any season for any occasion. I never get tired of It's presence on me and love smelling it throughout my days. This will forever be my top perfume I can't live without.

ssamhita

Ah, Mon Guerlain. Where do I even begin? I’d heard of this one, of course. I watched that J-dude call it “the wife perfume” and then, once I joined the fragrance community, caught glimpses of it on my feed. So last year, I ordered a 2ml sample. And when I sprayed it, at first I was unimpressed. I wore it to run errands that day (that may or may not have included a quick stop by at Zara to smell some new perfumes) and while at first I struggled with the herbal aspect of the lavender, as the perfume warmed on my skin, I warmed up to it as well.

I love lavender in any form. My Mamma used to wear a lavender talcum powder, and on summer nights, one of the most calming feelings was to be able to smell her and cuddle her and go back to sleep each time a bad dream woke me up (I had a lot of those) As a grown up, I’d often find myself gravitating towards lavender scented anything.

The lavender in Mon Guerlain to me is less floral than I’m used to (if that even makes sense) and the addition of Tonka bean, licorice and vanilla makes it teeter towards gourmand territory. This is lavender used to flavour cakes and desserts and tea as opposed to the ones used in soap and bath salts and reed diffusers. And while it took me getting used to, I am all for it! It took me a year to hunt down a bottle for a decent price (I mean I liked it, but not $230 liked it you know?) and I am so happy I waited because now I know I truly love it.

papercrowncarrie

This fragrance needs a statue of its bottle to be erected and poetry composed about its beauty. Guerlain can do no wrong in my eyes but this is everything that I look for in a fragrance. Utter perfection and artistry. My absolute favourite.
The notes stated are spot on, but are so expertly woven that none jump out loudly. The opening citrus and lavender is softened by the iris and then smoothed over by the vanilla, drying down to the most addictive vanilla/sandalwood powderiness. All the notes blend synergistically to give a clean, fresh, warm, rich and addictive glow. I've been trying to figure out which note reminds me of my mom in the 80's- I think it could be the liquorice/cigar link, but don't let this put you off because this fragrance is not dated or smokey at all.
My husband goes crazy for this- he says this is for a woman who has moved out of her 'silly little girl' era, who knows herself and has depth and character. It could also just be the vanilla/lavender combo that apparently drives men wild?
Angelina Jolie was a good choice as the face of this fragrance.

The13thHour

Mon Guerlain is a very intoxicating alluring and well done lavender perfume. I get the lavender and iris. There is a slight airy bubbly note that lifts the floral in this and make it not so heavy. I am assuming that's coming from the bergamot. When it dries down on my skin, the sandalwood and vanilla comes through with the licorice in the background. This has a mysterious edge to it. I almost get a slight toasty marshmallow powdery fragrance in this. I feel like there has to be marshmallow root somewhere hovering in the background. I have wore this fragrance a handful of times and each time I get stopped & complimented. This is a beautiful feminine perfume. I would not wear this on hot days in spring and summer.

Albena96

I love it 🥰🥰🥰

gazgreen

I went by the notes and blind bought it. It smells just like tobacco/cigar. I like tobacco/cigar undertones but I didn't expect this perfume to smell totally like that. I was so keen on licorice, iris and lavender. God knows why it is taking such a turn on my skin.

Edit: Earlier I used one too many sprays and it was kinda cooler climate, and all I could smell was tobacco/cigar. Today I got what other's here mentioned. A very relaxing lavender and a touch of vanilla. I have smelt better lavenders in men's perfumes but this one is not bad either. Thank goodness it was not all that I initially experienced with this scent!

annikahuhd

I finally tried this today, and cannot stop sniffing myself! Instant love, I need to get my hands on a full bottle asap. Not "in your face" but lasts well on my skin. The vanilla in this is really beautiful, and not too sweet.

cunt.dracula

My landlady wore this yesterday & the projection/sillage was HUGE. Seriously. I was coming up from the elevator and saw her ahead down the hall, at least 12-15 ft away & I could smell the fragrance. It was pleasant. Very sweet. I could smell mostly vanilla. I asked her about again earlier today & she said it's her signature scent :) It might be the first floral perfume I buy in a long time, cuz that vanilla note was STRONG!

Devved

I wanted to like this, the notes look great and Angelina Jolie is in the advert but I literally can`t smell anything...to me its more like a vanilla skin scent.

cheleine

I can tell they were going for something heavenly and different with this creation. And it truly is (or was for the latter part-since lately the vanilla-lavender combo has been trending). Still, it’s a fluffy/fuzzy, sweet, powdery dream. Never too much, never too little. Best in the colder months in my opinion, since it’s a bit heavy. There’s a slight cigarette smoke note here too, probably the coumarin and I wish it wasn’t there because then it’d be even more versatile and a true year round scent.
I agree with so many others saying this is a mother’s or a wife’s perfume. I can see this on a mother and her children running to hug her so they can get a sniff and hug her even tighter. I can see it on a wife or a beloved girlfriend and the partner swooning over it.
As we all know perfume can get intertwined with memories and that’s unfortunately the reason why I can’t wear this masterpiece anymore.
Still I can’t help but smile thinking of this beautiful creation, the classy bottle that looks absolutely stunning in my vanity. Maybe I’ll pick it up again at some point. Maybe…

Tuberose91

definitely reformulated!!! Not long lasting! And it’s soooooooo skinscent now. My first bottle of this perfume was really strong and had a beastmode. But now it’s not worth the money!

Nora Gad

Loiza1880

Live this scent but unfortunately did not last as long as I had hoped

alice_w

At first, I only got the vanilla note. However, now I can smell lavender and plum too, which makes this scent more interesting.

qianqian

Sweet vanilla, with some lavender, that's good for sleep. It's good that it has lavender, because that's not very common in gourmand feminine fragrance, and I always wonder what a good feminine lavender smells like. It's a balanced blend.

cats_eye

I can't believe tobacco isn't a note in this fragrance! It smells like a cigar to me.

fairylightprincess

even though the vanilla + lavender are blended beautifully, i hate noticeable lavender + so it was never meant to be.

abki

Absolutely love this one.

First I get a blast of sweet licorice, then it dries down to a beautiful lavender and vanilla, grown-up but not too old-lady like, feminine but with a bit of an edge.

Really cosy and not too overpowering, very classy and understated. Shalimar is too strong and powerful for me, this is like a lighter version with a cozier edge.

Comicalcupcake

Soft and cozy. Not your typical "clean" fragrance but plush and comfortable. I like lavender but usually sleep in it so it took me a while to try this fragrance. To me, I smell the vanilla and bergamot first, with the lavender showing through but not out in front. To me this isn't sleepy, just cozy. Balanced and office appropriate, but the vibe is more like a staycation.

Heathermarie8617

I tried this last year and didn't think it was as great as it was hyped up to be, however I tried another sample today wanting to revisit it because sometimes I end up liking a fragrance after some time has passed. Even though I wasn't over the moon initially, for some reason I couldn't stop thinking of this scent. Alas, here I'am testing it again...and I love it. I have the notorious "dupe" Guess Seductive Noir and while they are similar, they are not exact. To my nose Mon Guerlain is smoother than SN. That being said, they are both wonderful fragrances. Mon Guerlain really reminds me of a warm hug from a mother, which is lovely. I have to get a full bottle of this eventually.

Update: I got a FB of this and I'm so glad that I did. This has become a favorite, though I think I will save this for cooler weather.

Cheers!

ava96

I just sprayed this one on before going to bed for a first test and I think I'm in love. What a superb blend! Guerlain makes some really good perfumes. This is signature scent worthy like the previous poster said.

happybyscent

Instantaneousy one of the best perfumes I have ever smelled. I have tried countless perfumes and this one makes me feel so calm, classy, and beautiful without feeling overpowering. The lavender-vanilla concoction is intoxicating. Perfect signature scent.

Mdellaroc

Anise or licorice dominate in the opening, then generic vanilla and lavender. Nice but not special. Don’t think anyone would hate it but I can’t see loving it.

neşeyusubova

I felt the harmony of lavender and vanilla. The slightly pungent scent of lavender blended very well with the sweetness of vanilla. As it dries, I feel the powdery air of iris and flowers. The iconic woman I envision in the eyes of the woman wearing this is a disciplined, manipulative woman with boundaries and confident rules. A classic scent for me. I'm more bored at the office.

fragrantlyenhanced

iconic. the use of a ''masculine'' lavender in a female scent. i don't mean to say its a masculine leaning scent. quite the contrary. but if you've smelled enough lavender on male frags you will pick up on it that type. strong sandalwood, vanilla base impossible to hate tbh. call it over done or whatever but this is still beautiful. i like all the iterations of the line but i prefer this one. i have a strong scent memory association with it and i think many people do. someone like your auntie would wear it. its familiar, cozy, warm, powdery iris, sweet vanilla, elegant. it's not a girl's scent. wear it with confidence. colder weather and colder spring days for sure

Lili1105

I can't say that I would fall on my ass from this fragrance, nor that it would be special. I smelled similar types of scents as a child when I smelled old types of cosmetics. For me, it's a powdery, warm cosmetic scent. I smell sandalwood quite strongly there, which gives it an oriental dimension. When I smell this, I feel like I'm dusted with powder from cosmetics that were made a long time ago. From my point of view, it's a retro scent. pretty, pleasant, but it is not my "cup of coffee".

vixxiimcmlxxxvii

Finally got a sample. I can’t tell if I like it or not! Glad I didn’t blind buy a FB; it reminds me of a woodsy ulta lotion cream I used to have, something woods…violet woods? I can’t remember. But this is stronger. It’s not bad. It’s so much sweeter than I had in mind. And has a sharpness I didn’t expect. I feel like the odd woman out by not being instantly in love with this. It’s not bad by any means but I’m not sure she’s for me. I wanted to love her because my man owes me a little more for my birthday and I thought this would be a nice addition. But as I’m not just collecting for the sake of it anymore, I’m gonna pass. Man! I’m sad!! I thought I’d love it!!! I will say, I like the cooling feeling it gives my nose. It’s literally COLD to smell, if that makes sense. Almost menthol-y? I don’t hate it. I swear!

Edit to add: After testing Prada Paradoxe I really fell in love with this. Don’t ask me why, but something about Paradoxe made me yearn for Mon Guerlain! Weird!

xanderu

wow! i first tried this fragrance on the bitterest cold day of winter and was really turned off by the scent, it became almost cloying and sour. In the warmer months? this is a MASTERPIECE (i finally get the hype!!) A fresh, almost natural/aromatic english lavender mixed with the softest powdery vanilla and woods. Never getting too sweet, the bergamot/lavender combo keeps it sparkling and light (im assuming in the winter months these notes where hard to perceive in the cold dry air). Smells like the prettiest woman, unique effortlessly. She likes the finer things, but can still have fun. She has the prettiest house, and most importantly LOVES her friends. This is unique, and oh so good!

fragheadny

Never fails to get me compliments. Sweet, warm, and alluring. It is so understated but when people get a whiff, they don't want to stop. It makes me feel girly and womanly all at once. If I didn't love wearing different perfumes everyday, this would be such an easy signature. I must get my hands on the intense.

magnoliaboulevard

A very pretty, girly scent.
I enjoy it!

Gemsense

In summer weather it smells like Manifesto and Flowerbomb Bloom mixed together.

mizzhoopz

So I purchased this after testing it at Nordstrom's and I immediately fell in love with it. I wore it for the first time to two fathers day cookouts I attended. On my skin: I get the bergamot and florals intensely with a subtle lavender undertone(It was very beautiful) then I got a good blend of the vanilla and spice with the soft powdery florals, which I find absolutely divine in the fall and winter but the spiciness in this is airy and light. Not too little and not too much. Perfect for spring and summer. Then when I got to the evening it calmed down to this softly sweet and earthy with a bit of the smokiness from the benzoin which I felt highly appropriate for at the end of an evening. Like a scent that makes you feel like its time to wind down and lounge around with the other adults and drink some wine, have good conversation on the patio, maybe some of the men will step away and smoke a cigar and everyone will be in bliss. It's a beautiful fragrance that's fresh and more for a woman in her 30's. I got a lot of compliments from it.

Erincess

I dont know why I smell honey in this, from the first to last some kinda honey sweet remains. Anyway its a very girly lovely sweet spring feellike scent.

Sapienta

Very superficial scent. No bass chords, no solid base. Vanilla is lost in this lavender and citrus fiasco.
Mon Guerlain Intense is much more profound and solid.
Overall, big disappointment

MomGodess

The most beautiful scent of the past decade. Thank you Delphine Jelk and Thierry Wasser for this!
Celebrating the Guerlain tradition with Jicky's lavender, Shalimar's vanilla and Samsara's sandalwood!

It's just like the finest cashmere sweater with a lace bra. Comfortable and sexy, that you can wear on garden cocktail party, on an office day and on a boat in the Venice canals after sunset.
Never too much, smells like old money, without being overused, over-interpreted like Baccarat Rouge. It is a masterpiece, hands down.

Of course depends on body chemistry I am grateful that we work so well together.
Also I love the brand body lotion but it layers extremely well with the Brazilian bum bum cream.
Chances are that everyone will love and know you by your signature scent and you won't smell it from the entrance of the mall til the exit on every teenager.

Angelina Jolie is a great face of this perfume, unique, bold, elegant and has depth and past. Strong and feminim, sexy with class.

The intense version is a room filler. There are places and events where I use it, but my daily Guerlain is Mon Guerlain!

Never stop the production! ❤️

mariahum

On first spray, it smells like I've just buried my nose in a basket of freshly picked lavender. This quickly mellows down to a cozy but strong vanilla, with the rest of the notes serving as supporting artists, as it were. It's decidedly not sexy (who wants to be a smouldering goddess all the time anyway?), which makes it perfect for work, family gatherings, or honestly just a lovely pick-me-up at the end of the day. I bought this to be my summer smell and I ADORE it

Peaches&Cream

This is a like for me. I liked the notes once I sprayed it and it settled down, but throughout the day all the notes were combined together in a weird way. I do wish the notes smelled like vanilla, lavender, iris and woody notes that I got before it settled down after I sprayed it. No need to re-spray it lasts throughout the day.

You can wear this dressed up or dressed down.

Lykopa

This smells like cheap vanilla lavender body lotion. Ew. There is potential there, but it’s kinda cloying. The drydown is a bit better but still not great.

saho93

From the notes, I should like this. But I only get burnt leather that is very sharp, and this note lasts for a long time. I get no lavender, bergamot, jasmine, rose, iris. After a long while, I finally get a very faint vanilla. Not my preference.

I am puzzled by reviews of sweet, powdery, and fluffy as all I get is extreme bitterness. Maybe the juice in the new bottle turned or bad batch…

If I could smell more of the flower and vanilla note, I would like this.

But this persistent harsh smoke note that dominates until the smell of the perfume is almost gone to reveal a whisper of vanilla is not pleasant for me. But maybe that is the charm that I have yet to learn to like. For now, it’s a pass for me.

allenwebbtmg

I absolutely love this on my wife!
Especially in cooler weather...
All I can say is toasted marshmallows and warm vanilla!
This is a A+++ beast of a perfume.
If you love vanilla or your partner does then please get this.
A little pricy but an absolute masterpiece!
If you cant afford a $100+ for a bottle then buy Guess Seductive Noir... 90% DNA for $20-25.

lo4

at first it reads like your run of the mill floral scent, but then you get the spicy balsamic note hidden underneath and it gives it a whole new depth. like grandma's perfume but with class. for those who maybe don't mind a bit of a headache at the expense of smelling great!

Jennaflareon

A very good everyday perfume. Works both in the office and at the party. It's non-offensive.

Have heard it described as "desperate housewife" or as the ultimate mothers perfume. There may be some truth in that. It smells grown-up and suits a mother better than a teenager.

nyrvelli

A nice blend of lavender and vanilla. I like it, I just wish it was slightly less sweat or a bit more complex.

Elfin Will

Finally tested Mon Guerlain after it has been so popular... like I really had to try it out haha! And I was not disappointed; I love it!! I've never smelled a better lavender, even better than in Libre. It's so feminine in here, so powdery with that iris associated to it, so sweet with that beautiful vanilla. It's a delicate mature scent perfectly worn by a woman in her late 20s or early 30s.

I tried the intense version as well; they are pretty similar, the latter having just a bit more of vanilla, hence less mature than the OG.

I think I'm gonna grab a bottle soon! =)

8.5/10

sokoladas82

Wonderful parfume. The best what was created of Guerlain.

cottonpuff_

Lavender vanilla ice cream vibes. This is so strong on me and lasts the whole day, so I spray with caution. A solid designer perfume that I think most people would enjoy (unless you hate lavender and vanilla lol). I think it’s versatile and can be worn any season.

alsa7

I don't understand this perfume. I tried: In the winter, in the summer.
All I feel is a deep, warm note, cocoa like, but nothing floral.
Maybe my olfactory senses are not as developed as others, but this is not something to perfume myself with

anntdangg

Not a sweet vanilla perfume. Nice vanilla accord similar in SDV by Guerlain.
Not a loud perfume. Pretty calm blend of lavender and vanilla. Lavender is only strong in the opening though.

brokesta911

Guerlain Mon Guerlain (2017) - vanilla fougere - #thierrywasser and #delphinejelk creates a perfume with a backbone similar to Caron’s with a combination of Lavender and Vanilla. The difference is the addition of floral elements: Iris, Rose and Jasmine; and a heavier vanillin-coumarin base. Well-made and beautiful nonetheless.

cyclone1391

The new BBW Calm Haven line is a dupe for this and I actually prefer the BBW because it's more airy quality. Unfortunately licorice and patchouli spoil this for me.

LOST_HORIZON

Mon Guerlain edp is a fluffy lavender kitty, purring with intense vanilla but nothing sweet or vulgar.

This fragrance is a safe haven to feel protected and embraced at all times.

The first spray has that playful sparkle of licorice and tonka combined with bergamot, even jasmine can be elegant and regular a sweet rampage characteristic of today's fragrances, but Mon Guerlain isn't, Mon Guerlain is sweet but you never get a headache from her.

It is definitely a perfume that can become an ally friend where you always find serenity and a delicate smell to be identified by it in a distinctive way and with very good energy.

Hartsy3

First of all I have to say, both the original and intense versions of Mon Guerlain are a dream! They feel like fresh and modern interpretations of the classic soothing lavender with added sweetness. I read a comment where someone said this smells like "a hug from a very beautiful and elegant mom." So of course, I had to try it!

I think this fragrance has one of the best "intense" versions out there, because it's different, but not so much that it feels like a completely different perfume altogether. In fact, if I didn't have them side-by-side I'm not sure I could even tell them apart, and the dry-down especially is nearly identical.

For me, the differences are very subtle, so I sprayed them one each hand to compare side-by-side. I think the original has a slightly more powedery aroma in the opening, which makes it seem a bit more mature. I also detect a cinnamon note that makes it feel warmer and richer.

The "Intense" version brings out a creamier, brighter, more uplifting aroma with stronger notes of vanilla and, if I'm not mistaken, Tonka-bean. It's still a grown woman fragrance but it has a sweeter, more youthful smell. The Intense version also reminds me of a more subdued version of my favorite lavender fragrance; Initio Rehab.

Overall, I can now fully understand why this is one of the most acclaimed, mainstream lavender fragrances on the market. I think this would be a safe blind buy for anyone who appreciates a lavender note. So glad I got to try it!

Blind bought this one and loved it. Lavender dominates this for me and had no idea about the vanilla until I checked the notes.
Nonetheless, it’s a beautiful and sophisticated compliment getter but it’s a little strong and mature. Stay clear if you dislike lavender, soapy or masculine scents.

This is lovely but it is very polite. The current trend seems to be for a domesticated lavender that has been sedated with vanilla. The best lavender has sharp edges and may swear unexpectedly. I will keep looking.

On testing strip, it starts off with a strong lavender and licorice, which I think it’s really interesting. However, once the sweet vanilla note overpowers the lavender and licorice, it becomes kind of disappointing to me. I would have really liked it if it’s the vanilla-bean type of vanilla from Shalimar, dry but not to sweet. The drydown is still interesting with the hints of lavender and licorice, but the sweet vanilla kind of turns me off. If you’re looking for a lavender and licorice flavored ice cream scent, this could be for you.

Sadly, the opening is so heavily vanilla and overpowering for me, drowning out any hints of lavender that I would otherwise enjoy. I don't much care for gourmand scents, not fond of smelling like cookies. It seems to last in that state a bit longer than I care for. Just on the edge of headache inducing.

Happily, the dry down is softly floral and agreeably intimate, a lovely scent I can wear and enjoy all day without fear of offending allergic types.

It may grow on me after a few more wearings. But just now, it probably won't be one of my go to fragrances. Among Guerlain, Pamplelune firmly holds that place, a very different vibe for my everyday, from the first spritz to the last few molecules.

Ummm... No. I don't get the hype around this fragrance. SOOOO MUCH LAVENDER!!

This is the scent of happiness and calm for me. It is wonderful for bedtime, but also whenever I want a mood boost. I rarely get a compliment on any of the fragrances I wear, and I wear fragrance for me not compliments. However, this one I do have people mention how good it smells. I even had a gentleman in a shop I was in tell me that when he smelled it he was instantly transported back to grade school in the 80s. A teacher of his had worn something similar. It’s lovely how fragrance works like that. It makes me want to try to stick to a signature scent for a period of time…

Lavender itself has this bitter and cool scent which I love. My grandma always filled pillows with dried lavender which was nice, so I thought I would like this. But it's too sweet and vanilla heavy for me and I hate its mixture with lavender. My own fault. Not a safe blind buy at all. Worst part is I tried to scrub it off so much but I could barely remove it after three washes. At least I got some compliments.

Aeiris81

I bought this on a whim just to see what the fuss is all about. Tried it this morning for the first time and found it pleasant though too sweet for my taste. Nice, nothing to write home about. But then people at my workplace started complimenting me on what perfume I was wearing and, when I went for a little walk during lunch break, I kept getting delightful wafts of candied flowers as the wind blew my scarf. I find Mon Guerlain very likeable, a beautifully made feel-good scent, with a rare (and successful) combination of sweet, fresh and ellegant. It is not yet a love but a very pleasant surprise.

THIS is what I wanted Libre to be. A feminine and not harsh or overpowering lavender. This is very lovely.

Perfect feminine blend. Office safe. But also not basic and forgettable either and can work for special occasions as well imo.

Doesn't smell of lavender laundry detergent like Libre.

aflakes

I really wanted to love this fragrance, but this is just not my vibe. I think it's safe to say that I struggle with lavender because ysl libre has a strong lavender note and I struggle with the fragrance. I do enjoy the soft dry down but the opening is too much. Not full bottle worthy. If I'm ever feeling Mon Guerlain, I'll just go for Guess Seductive Noir.

tessture

Okay, finally tried, after many years. It’s very sweet, and reminds me powerfully of Guess Seductive Noir that I got for super cheap. Mon Guerlain is a little smoother and less jazzy, but they are similar. I get a super sweet rosy lavender, lavender with the spikes on, so a bit herbal and green on the edges, slightly make-up powdery in the base. It’s really nice, but I don’t wear the Guess much as it is, so won’t be pursuing Mon Guerlain. Glad to have tried though.

Mon Guerlain is a big favorite in the 'perfume influencer' world, so I resisted it for a while. For lavender + vanilla I can get a tub of Sleepy LUSH products for less, and I kind of pooh-poohed this frag. But, I was wrong. This is my new bedtime smell and I can't wait to try more flankers.

I really get the coumarin, licorice, and vanilla in the dry down - but the lavender on first spray is soothing and herbal, like English lavender dried in the window. It's not sweet like Sleepy, or floral like French lavender. And I don't believe that lavender is a 'masculine' note in any way (marketing will getcha every time) because it reminds me of my grandma's hand cream and my mom's laundry satchets.

ETA:
After testing several Mon Guerlain flankers, this is my take on the line:

((Mon Guerlain EDP:))
-cozy yet easily wearable daytime fragrance
-primarily herbal lavender, coumarin, licorice; ends with vanilla and very light patchouli
-my fave, the blend is great at every level of the wear

Mon Guerlain EDT:
-sharp green bergamot top, baby-powder-like note from orris+violet, same cozy vanilla base
-has a medicinal note, and lacks the coziness of the EDP
-my least fave

Mon Guerlain EDP Intense:
-the most accurate 'intense' flanker of any scent I've tried
-more lavender, more patchouli, more coumarin, more vanilla (especially in the dry down)
-while frags don't have genders, I could see men preferring this version as 'bolder' and spicier

Mon Guerlain L'Essence:
-retains the lavender, and has a nice jasmine-sandalwood heart/base
-does NOT smell like sweet frangipani (like I hoped) but instead the 'green'-smelling variety; still pretty but not what I wanted... it's a sister to Aerin's Hibiscus Palm, with a lavender twist.
-the vanilla comes up in the dry down and sweetens things out in a gorgeous way

Mon Guerlain Florale:
-powdery, creamy, floral flanker that shares DNA with the OG
-the florals are well balanced but it smells too much like vanilla baby powder for me

Icarel

Due to the lavander that is too strong and appears immediately, this to me smells like bathroom spray because its how my olfactive memory labelised/associated lavander with. I can detect the sweet and conforting vanilla and jasmine but the lavander ruins to me everything….sorry… but I agree with previous comments, if liked, this perfume could be wear all over the year and in all occasions.

LaMiaRosa

I hated the opening of this one because it was way too much lavender (and I don't mind lavender!) Plus it also smelled too floral and "perfumey". I found it very off-putting and didn't understand why everyone was hyping this fragrance.

It took a few hours but the drydown is much nicer. It calms down a lot with the lavender and I detect more of the bergamot and vanilla, making it smell clean, soft and uplifting rather than heavy and perfumey. It's okay and I don't dislike it once it dries down but I don't see the hype. I was practically ready to blind buy it based on how everyone was talking about it but I'd say it's not blind buy safe and it's also nothing special. It doesn't smell expensive or complex in my opinion.

Compared to Mon Guerlain Intense it is very similar, just softer, lighter and and less heavy on the vanilla. They are very similar to me but if I had to choose one I'd choose this one because I like that it's lighter and more citrusy. But to be honest, it reminds me of CKin2U (not a dupe, just similar on my skin), except I actually prefer that one and it's a lot cheaper. That's what I mean when I say this isn't special or expensive-smelling enough to justify the actual cost. Performance is also so-so.
