Kelly Caleche Eau de Parfum by Hermès is a fragrance for women. Kelly Caleche Eau de Parfum was launched in 2009. The nose behind this fragrance is Jean-Claude Ellena.

Kelly Caleche, the luxurious fragrance by the house of Hermes dedicated to famous Grace Kelly and the leather Kelly bag, as well as to the legendary evening perfume Caleche, was introduced last year.

Kelly Caleche was developed by Jean-Claude Ellena from charming and gentle, bitterish rhapsodies of citruses and grapefruit which blend with floral notes full of nuances, with a characteristic powdery face of iris, gourmand yellow mimosa and rose. The perfect signature is added by a fine leather note. Last year's edition was dedicated to young women and ladies and the bottle was signed by designer Philippe Mouquet.

After great success with last year's edition, a luxurious and very interesting edition for your purse was presented. It is shaped like a silver lock, available in limited number as 7,5 ml pure perfume extract, created of reconstructed aromas of the first perfume including jasmine, mimosa, tuberose and iris with benzoin and discrete accords of leather.

The new edition, Hermes Kelly Caleche Eau de Parfum, arrives in a flacon shaped just like the EDT version, with a small, charming lock around the neck of the bottle, which symbolically connects all three editions.

The new variant was developed by renowned perfumer Jean-Claude Ellena, who retained a floral-leather composition.

Kelly Caleche Eau de Parfum includes accords of Barenia calf leather, sheep leather, rose and violet, which are wrapped in an attractive vanilla veil. The new, luxurious edition is available from February 2009, in amounts of 50 and 100 ml EDP.

this opens with a soft suede, iris, violet and rose. it's a dewy floral with a soft leather. violet gets stronger and stronger over time. i am trying this in late winter, and i like it, but i think it's more of a springtime scent and need to retry then.

trying again in spring: i get leather and something almost sour, like a sour rose/violet. i just think maybe my skin chemistry is not having this, which is odd because i love all these notes and leathery florals in general. this should've been a shoo-in. i am not sure what is not working here.

I mainly pick up on the mimosa with a bit of the violets and iris to give it a slight powderiness . I don’t pick up the vanilla much. Wish the leather came through more on my skin.

PSA: Apparently the KC EDP isn't sold with the (just found out it works!) lock on the bottle. Mine has it and is from June 2017. If you have a bottle with the lock, take it off before you throw away the bottle!

This has to be one of my favorite designer scents. I don't like a lot of Hermes' offerings, they don't work well with me. I ended up gifting Caleche to my step-mother and really liked it but it wasn't "me" so when I found Kelly Caleche, I was in love! The leather is very prominent but doesn't make it dark or heavy or masculine in any way. It's a very clean, new Birken bag leather. It works wonderfully with the florals in this. I don't get a lot of vanilla sweetness, but it is there. I feel like it's here to ground the fragrance. To give it a base to hold on to and smooth it out. It's nothing like the rose/vanilla combos that have been offered the last few years. This actually gives me the vibes that the production/promo photo shows.

On my skin, there isn't a touch of powder. It really does work for every season and could go into the evening but isn't a "sultry" scent. It's a good signature fragrance! The rose isn't powdery or jammy, it's more of the rose found in Byredo's Young Rose. Also, at least for my version, the sillage and projection is amazing! Lasts on clothes until laundered, on skin I'd say a good 10 hours.

Okay. I can say this without an apology. Hermes perfumes and I are a match made in heaven. I read a review about Kelly Caleche after buying all the 3 versions of Jour D’Hermes so I ordered a bottle without even trying it first.

It arrived a couple of days ago and I can say that I love it and I will be wearing it anytime I am all glammed up. It’s everything I wanted it to be except I wish it projected more.

I smell the leather strongly on my skin and I also get a lovely floral nuance. I can’t pick the rose or vanilla but it really doesn’t matter because the entire composition on me smells very rich and intoxicating. I am beginning to appreciate more refined perfumes now after wearing loud and bold fragrances for so long. Hermes knows how to make elegant scents and sometimes that’s all you need.

Bravo Hermes 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽. Another love from me from this brand.

The EDP has something creamy floral and sweeter than the EDT, calmer, quieter, with warm milk buttery nuances. And the leather is so white and polished than isn’t a note anymore, only a well raised gloved ghost of it.
It isn’t a wild (and slightly agressive) thing anymore, no sparkling citrus juice in the eyes, no windy yellow powder and no saddled pony. But it does have elegance, and not a cold one: introversion isn’t insensitivity, the scent is alive, green with depth and ambivalence, and even the tuberose’s plasticity can be voluptuous on the right skin.

Ed: I find the longevity extremely short and it doesn’t project at all.

mothtoaflame___

More powdery, lacks citrus so there’s no fresh opening like in the EDT, therefore the floral accords go forward where violet ruins this for me, sadly. I love it in Flower and Paris (cause it’s rather retained there) but can’t handle it here, although it goes well with leather.
Gave it to a friend who is really into it!

I've not tried the toilette, so I can't speak for that.
Kelly Caleche EDP is a sweet yellow floral - the mimosa is prominent from beginning to end. I don't get much of the other notes, nor any of the leather at all. Not my favourite - the mimosa is a little too sweet for me.
It's a fine, classy perfume, but something about the sweetness of the mimosa is giving me slightly girly vibes.

Projection - soft (< arms length)
Longevity - average, maybe 5 + hours
Polarity - feminine

Kelly Caleche parfum is the tamer and city girl version of the toilette. This is more roses, violets of a well manicured garden of a fancy estate that may or may not have horses. The leather is expensive handbags and such but not saddle leather or work gloves. The plants here are all beautiful and well taken care of but the wildness is gone. Don't get me wrong this is a really good perfume. Great florals, nice leather notes but for me the toilette really speaks to me in a way the Parfum doesn't. I may buy this in the future for my collection, but the toilette is a must have and right now. If you thought the toilette was a bit to green, fresh and wild give the Parfum a try. There is a bit of sweetness here as well from vanilla that isn't in the toilette. The way I see Kelly Caleche is this. They are a set of beautiful twin sisters. Kelly toilette is the wild, untamed child of nature, she loves the outdoors and is at home in the stables caring for the animals and loves a rainstorm, loves mud and loves the wild, the untamed, the fecund. Kelly Parfum is more at home inside, shopping, and likes the idea of nature but doesn't really want to be in it unless it is strolling around a well-manicured garden. Kelly toilette is fecund and wild. Kelly parfum is polished and precise. Both are great perfumes. You have to choose which Kelly is right for you.

jeanette123

I never got much leather which is a love for me. I also didn't get the smoke and vanilla I was looking forward to. This is all VIOLET on me. It seems to be eternal but just violet.

Advaitaforever

I so wanted to love this but it resembles a weird vegetal leather paired with a zesty rose. It doesn't remind me of a luxury handbag or stables, horses, hay or any of the connotations I expected. Tom Ford remains the king of leather fragrances.

Kinga_

Pleasant for a powdery scent. More on the mature side. It's quite basic to be honest.

AnlisaC

this is just a classy sophisticated scent for a mature woman. Sillage is amazing and getting lots of compliments. 10/10

AuthenticAF

I love this, it is a powerhouse. I got it for the leather note, which i sort of smell… but overall it is just beautiful. Very classy.

magnolia_xx

What a delightful scent this is. Intense and transparent, passionate and algid at the same time.
I do not know in any other fragrance that resembles it.
Leather and smoky notes, posh and dry, softened by the most delicious rose.
I use it for work and for all occasions when I want to give an impression of refined and detached elegance.

pasha

Elegant, arrogant, cold as ice ice-blonde.

I love her haughtiness; her indifference. Pursed lips, squinting eyes, hair gleaming like lush wheat dipped in the wash of sunlight as the jealous sun finally sets... She won't care another day has passed. Not a single thread on her head out of place. Nothing less than cashmere or silk will touch her heaven-caressed skin; wintery cold must be kept at bay draped in sable furs as she slowly walks through the lush greenery of her expansive and established European estate...

Yet no winter can be as cold as her disapproval. She graces a blank stare; marble carved fingers gently touch the strings of white pearls around her neck... and she moves on. She always does. She is fearsome like an apex predator who never needs to kill her own prey. She operates strict and stringent to keep the order of the world in place.

She is amazing. Her beauty is eternal, and about as Earth-bound and soft as death itself.

theLady

Starts our promisingly fresh with a flirty sweet grapefruit note and quickly erodes to the smell of a dirty sheep that spent all night rolling in semen and distressingly dirty pajamas and then sat in the hot barn to bake all day.

Short version: I hate it. Why do I want to smell this filthy? Oh that’s right, I don’t.

Jacquis

Kelly Caleche EDP is a transparent herbal rose tea fragrance in the style of some of the jardin collection. Some unique nuances but not as challenging nor opaque as I thought it would be. Still a very nice, light, fresh everyday Spring/Summer fragrance. It is 70F, low humidity today. Perhaps this will morph in warmer temps as I'm currently not sensing leather.
EDIT: Wore this in 97F. Gorgeous! Strong character. Leather comes through but remains fresh. Lasted greater than 12 hours. My summer top shelf (along with Bottega Veneta Illusione).

SuperSueChick

Received it as a gift in the mail.
I thought to myself "Oh la la Hermès packaging, shut up, and perfume"?!
"Yes! This person knows me"!!!
Well, hold my horses there 4x4, not so fast.
Being the oldest sibling I'm the one that opens presents being careful not to 'damage' the gift wrapping. Unlike my younger sibling that goes to town like a locomotive rampaging through the gift wrap.
As far as presentation: the bottle is heavy and very pretty, the juice is a grapefruit pink and nice to look at. I enjoy the cap twist to open rather than the cliché caps that like socks somehow manage to get lost at times.
To what we're all here for:
Well, that's tricky because scent if you will, is in the "Nose of the beholder". <-Like that one, eh ^_~
I'll tell you my opinion... It's definitely powdery!
It opens like a talcum powder grande bomb.
Let me explain why grande. When I first sprayed it, I only sprayed once inside of my elbow, and it didn't smell much for the first few minutes. I even had to lift my elbow to my nose to see if I had sprayed correctly and wondered what was going on. I then thought "ohhh, this is probably just a skin scent". Very hard to make out any notes.
Within those 5 minutes I made a snack for my teen that was on a Zoon class in his room upstairs, and gave my ever so helpful kitchen helper dog a treat. How can I not?!
I then went upstairs to my son's room, I placed his plate down, and opened his balcony door which oversees our pool in the backyard wide open to air out his room and keep it fresh. I'm sure any mom can relate.
THEN... 5 minutes after the initial spray it went off like a grande, it went off like a powder bomb!
My son and I started sniffing and looking around his room. He said said it first, "Mom, you smell that baby powder"? " I became Nancy Drew sniffing around. I thought maybe it was our neighbor since I had just opened the door. I smelled his food, then I smelled my hand. Yes, it wasn't my hand, rather my arm. I have smelled this before, but where? It almost reminds me of Marly Delina Exclusif. Which in my opinion is another rose powdery fragrance that's just loved by many, but not my cup of tea. Its nice. Its just not me.
It gives me Yves Saint Laurent Paris vibes, but smoother and less obnoxious. To me, it seems like a classic made somewhat modern. As in a Black and White film now in color. It pretty for the right person. Its just not me, this is just MY opinion. ツ

giri-boni

This was a gift from a lovely friend. I do want to love it, but... I don't. It's strange, it's different from everything I have....

Violinplayah

Kelly Caleche is so nice! It is not a rough or outdoorsy leather, it’s very soft and smooth and perfectly balanced with the floral elements. To me this telegraphs refinement, simple elegance and unpretentious sophistication. It would be a great signature for those that aren’t afraid of commitment (haha), as it wouldn’t be too heavy or light for any season.

It took me quite some time to get used to perfumes created by the house of Hermes. I tried various versions of Caleche, Jour, Faubourg, Un Jardin, Voyage, Twilly... and remained unimpressed. The one Hermes fragrance that broke the ice for me was Hiris, and now I'm a proud owner of Kelly Caleche EDP.
The funny thing with Kelly is that I can only detect about 30% of the listed notes - no rose, no powder, no vanilla... Basically the only notes that I can smell are, first and foremost, iris (and what a beautiful iris it is - even better than in Hiris!); then, leather/suede (very soft and pleasant), mimosa, tuberose (very fresh and leafy, not at all bubblegummy), and - as some other reviewers have stated - lemon peel and some vegetableish notes. Obviously this fragrance is not entirely compatible with my skin chemistry, because it doesn't develop as it's supposed to, but I don't care - I like it as it is.

Abry_81

Kelly Caleche is a fragrance that has caught me by surprise, I have never been a fan of the rose note and even less of leather, but Mr. Jean-Claude Ellena once again made me give up with one of his creations, this prefume this Inspired by visits to the Hermès leather storehouse and with a campaign by a girl ready to ride a horse, you expect some more strong and animalic leather and it is not like that, this wonderful creation of Ellena in edp version has the
rose-leather combo but It is a soft leather like a fine handbag with an almost suede touch and the rose here present is not deep, it is a young, ethereal and powdery rose thanks to the combination of iris, violet and mimosa that accompany it giving the composition a light powdery sense and with a velvety touch, although the notes of vetiver and grapefruit are not listed, I feel that they are present in the background of this fragrance, giving it freshness, lightness and a certain bitterness and it may have a slight aldehyde touch.
This is not a thunderous composition, it is delicate and they have a lot of light even so it is very perceptible especially in its first hours, with a good duration on the skin, it is an ideal fragrance for medium climates perhaps spring and autumn and I do not see that despite his nature is very out of tune in a man.

Stunning transparent light floral rose leather . So fresh and feminine and classy. I get so many compliments wearing this perfume. This is not a heavy stuffy smoky leather. It is as advertised , a light feminine rose leather. Fresh , sophisticated and transparent. It has a soapy sweetness to it that gives it still a sensual feel rather than just a Freshi. Kelly has style , class and is super wearable for any occasion but leans toward daytime and warmer weather . I prefer the sweeter Edp which I had for years now. I ended up buying the EDT as well though as it’s more herbal , green , less sweet , nice to switch it up . However I love the Edp and only like the EDT .
Jean-Claude Ellena has the Reputation of Natural , light „ watery „ sophisticated creations. I love his style of fragrances for the summer . To me they are s save bet , nothing not to like . Especially for the summer . He is a master perfumer !!!
Please Hermes , Never discontinue this beauty !
In addition I failed to mention that vetiver is one of the main players here especially in the drydown . I feel it in both fragrances strong and it Keeps the fragrance fresh and a little sharp . I love it , it’s slightly more prominent in the EDT but clearly there in The drydown of the Edp.
So to my nose Kelly is a rose - vetiver with a light fresh hint of leather.

Perpetual Collector

Just received this yesterday, after doing days-long research into the best leather perfumes for women. I read countless posts with suggestions on the best leather-based fragrances and decided to go with Kelly EDP in the end, expecting to have my mind blown. Well, that didn't happen. In fact, where the heck did leather go? There is a faint "hint" of leather, and I do mean just a "Hint". This is in no way, shape, or form a leather fume. I expected and was looking for a feminine leaning Ombre Leather or Tuscan Leather, but what I got was non-descript floral that doesn't smell like anything else in my collection. So at least I got that if nothing else... After some 30 min wait for Kelly Caleche to develop into this intoxicating leather that everyone speaks of, I got frustrated and sprayed my husband's Tuscan Leather all over, but sadly, TL is a bit too masculine for my taste. At this point, I decided to get Ombre Leather for layering with other stuff and stop doing further research.
So.... for those who are looking for a real leather kick, Kelly Caleche EDP doesn't even come close. I actually got way more leather from Galop, but Galop loses that leather note in some 45 minutes or so; once again, not what I am looking for. I may try Bottega Veneta as well, I think I tested it once and there was quite a bit of leather there. Fingers crossed.

Second wear update: OMG, I hate this perfume with every atom of my body. I tried to give it a chance, but it didn't work out for the best. I could never understand comparisons to a bug spray before when it comes to fragrances, but that is exactly what I am getting here. I am originally from Europe, and back home we had this flying insect spray called PIPS, and it smelled exactly like Kelly Caleche. I just can't with this...This is so far from leather and/or from the wearable perfume that I decided to return it, which is something I rarely do.I do not even want to have it in my collection. The bottle is pretty tho. That's where it stops, sadly.

anna-fie

I thought for sure that pepper would be listed in this scent.. but it might be the leather note that is prominent.
On me this is a very silent scent - had to reapply a couple of times along the day.

CaliBlonde

This may not be for everyone but as an equestrian this is THE perfume to have!

I was searching for a scent with an equestrian vibe. Now, I know what I smell like after riding (dirt/horse sweat) so I was aiming for more “clean tack” vs “horse”. I’ve tried many different leather/oud perfumes but they all were more reminiscent of a cigar room or a man’s leather jacket.

I purchased a full bottle of this without testing it and I’m so glad I did—it’s perfect! Leather and horses, but still feminine and clean. It feels like I’m at a horse show or in a tack shop. I smell new saddles, groomed horses, perhaps a fancy barn with a garden. A very wealthy scent. Smooth leather, slightly floral; I don’t get any citrus and it doesn’t smell dirty or “barnyard” to me. I think it’s wonderful!

elegantshnozzie

Ordered an EDP sample for my purple luxe subscription.. did they give me the wrong one? is this the edt? or was I totally wrong in what I was anticipating for this fragrance? The perfume in this tester smells strikingly similar to balenciaga's florabotanica and curve crush ( both of which i dreaded!) . All I am getting is citrus and rose. This is headache inducing and so sharp. I was looking forward to a rich, decadent leather with rose violet and iris playing throughout.

Please tell me this isnt it :,(

tommy_girl

I finally have a full bottle of this gem in my collection. The fun fact is that I wanted it since I first tried EDT once it was newly released. So, why hesitating for more than a decade? I dunno. Always something else grabbed my eyes and before I knew I was out of budget to buy kelly caleche.
So, getting to the perfume, kelly caleche EDP starts with a blast of citruses. To me the initial spray smells like a sweet lemon that is left outside for a while and gone bitter and this is by no means a complaint. The first notes are definitely better that EDT.
Soon after, the main bitter dark accords emerge. You must like leather to be able to laud this perfume. Liking iris and violet are a extra of course. I can't possibly describe it with words but it's both powdery, powerful, mysterious and even arrogant. Don't get me wrong. They are all compliments!
I think kelly caleche has a cold-blooded nature. It's like standing out of a crowd, while wearing a black leather jacket and observing others with a sense of supremacy.
Comparing EDT and EDP they are definitely more than 95% identical. The only difference would be the first notes and the extra grapefruit note in EDT. Even the long lasting powers are almost the same, despite one of them being EDP and now the bad news is that I liked EDT better, but it not more available where I live. Also the lock in the cap is extra beautiful and would retrieve any difference in smelling.

@giri-boni, it normally happens when you have an un-opened perfume and your very first spray is not strong enough. It should be solved after a number of strong sprayings.

giri-boni

Is it normal that the stopper, each time I open it, comes out completely soaked in perfume? Looks like the fancy twist stopper is leaking

Dorange Sense

This smells like a doll.

tanyaling

Leather leather leather. Reminds me of horse saddles, which I was thinking "wah ok Hermes still tries to sell me horses even in perfume!"

HAHA to the person who said they smell like old sheep. Perhaps that happened to me too. Or maybe it was the hot weather.

Do not think I would be a fan enough to buy a bottle, sorry.

Rose du soir

Today Kelly Calèche reminded me how much I used to love leather notes in the past, and how much I still do. And I didn't even need to wait the dry down to fall in love with it. The opening is a fresh and fragrant bouquet of flowers where rose is the queen. It's light, powdery and fresh. But pretty fast, leather sneaks in and Kelly Calèche reveals a strong, aromatic but warm and addictive character. Unlike some other reviews, I don't find this fragrance distant at all. There is warmth and tenderness hidden behind all the sophistication in this extremely feminine leather. And this duality is part of its charm.
Class in a bottle.

Natalie Carter

I think I just found my new signature scent. As much as I fear that this will be discontinued, I don’t want others to find about this underrated beauty (at least for my taste, this is my favourite)
Creamy, soft but prominent leather, fresh roses and some powdery notes are what my unprofessional nose can detect. There’s also this fresh minty note that I love. Versatile, good longevity upto 10 hours on my skin, so much more on clothes. Projection is moderate I suppose.
This is the only leather scent that smells ‘real’ but not particularly raw in my opinion. I am no expert though. It is utterly feminine but of course any gender of any age can wear it.
And that bottle is gorgeous.

cocomademoisellerie

This scent leaves me wondering.
A good ten years ago, I liked and wore the EdT a lot. This was the fragrance of my last days in high school, my 'initiation' into adulthood. I lived on my own already and I remember feeling very free, very grown-up (although, now, I think I wasnt even close to it) and capable of everything. A lot more experiences and some more fragrance followed after this - I kind of lost track of Kelly Caleche, like you unbind from a good school friend.
But just now, the memories are back, driving through the big city with my screechy bike, wafts of flowers, rose and mimosa around me, some tingly grapefruit all together. And the leather, I would say of a rather suede-ish quality, mixing astonishly fine with the smell of the streets in spring, something like betumen or wet floor.
The EdT today isn't what it used to be - it is much weaker, somehow pale and without its spark. The EdP comes closest to the EdT from 2008.

Good to have you back, my friend.

Viviana21

This is my no. 1 favorite perfume in my collection. Looking at the notes, I can understand why. Basically, I love every single one of them and the blend is just amazing. Although I first tried this during a vacation in Paris in 2014 and could not get it out of my head, I only purchased it 4 years later. It was like I have been waiting for the right moment to receive this beauty in my life.

This perfume is not following the very popular sickly sweet trend, but it is certainly anything else but generic. I picture a strong, but soft and feminine woman wearing it, not a teenager and definitely for ladies who 'got it all figured out'. It smells expensive, intense without being loud and I can describe it as everyday wearable, but only when you feel it is one of those special everydays:). I keep it for days when I have important meetings or events because it gives me a boost of confidence and delicacy at the same time. To me, it evokes some feeling of a moist leather combined with violets in the most classy, sexy manner. If this matches your skin, you cannot go wrong with it, however, I do not recommend a blind buy. I love it so much, that I am very carefully choosing the days when I go for it.

stephanieklein

Mimosa is a note I adore. And rose and violet? Party of three plus me, big yes. That said, I am so surprised that I do not enjoy KELLY! It smells slightly cool, and mimosa is the dominant note for me and not leather. I don't smell a woman's handbag. I smell mimosa. Please don't hate me. I wanted to love this. And I love Valentino's Donna, and don't find it as sweet as KELLY.

lady_ireth264

I just wanna say this is one of my favourite perfumes. Top 5 at the moment. So beautiful. Thanks to Ms Kelly Caleche I want more perfumes containing leather note. Absolutely signature worthy.
Rihanna's Rogue has a similar dynamic, but the leather suede note in Rogue is sweeter. A beautiful dry down there too, but I can't seem to adjust with the lemon blossom opening, my skin makes it too screechy. So Ms. Kelly wins for me. Every note plays out gorgeously.

========================================================

For me Kelly Caleche is mostly about roses. It's the dominant note from the first spray until 2-3 hours later. Afterwards I can smell the soft leather note that's rather musky and animalic on me. Skin scent but quite sensual.

This is my first bottle of Hermes and immediately becomes my favourite. Not many people wear it around me and it's just sooo classy. But effortless and girly pretty playful.

Love it and I will definitely purchase a second bottle later.
I want to buy 24 faubourg next.

Mitsouko-san

Feels like Jour d'Hermes with a deeper undercurrent of leather. Like a very pleasant tea. And it suits me to a T. I would be careful about the amount you use on the hottest days, but otherwise it's gorgeous. There's definitely a citrus top note that lingers for a long time, so I'm not sure why it's not officially listed. More long-lasting than I've experienced from other modern Hermes creations. I don't get vanilla, but I wish I could detect a little of it in the drydown for just a bit more variety.

Edit: I do sometimes get a little tired of the scent after a while and find myself wanting to spray on something else for a change. Don't get me wrong, it's still lovely. But maybe I just need to be in the mood for the scent. Or maybe this is the downside of perfume longevity.

Jose Marcos

Yes, now that's been mentioned, Kelly Caleche EDP does seem to be a female version of Washington Square by Bond No9, which is nostalgic 70's masculineall the way.

Swedelish

Used to hate this, now I adore it. It's one of those fragrances I couldn't see into until I was ready. I've had that experience with several other fragrances and they all have something about them, you either get it or you don't. This is one of the most classy, feminine leather scents! It's cosmetics and a leather handbag. Powdery, flirty and edgy. It smells refined and high quality.

I love Bottega Veneta but it can be too business-like and cold at times. This is the laid back leather jacket wearing chick with red lips whereas BV is pant suits and a leather briefcase. Both featuring leather, but the impressions are different.

I think of Valentino Donna with the sweet factor turned way down. And leather turned up. Mimosa makes this a stand out, giving it an added fluffiness and yellow hue, amazing for day time in Spring, fall or winter! Could easily go into the evening as well.

Kelly Caleche is a cool chic.

Longevity: Great, lasts 6-8 hours easily.

Sillage: Just right

Feelings and associations: makeup and leather, laid back, fashionable, cool. Classy. Discerning, self-made (& family money), unconventional, rebellious.

Where was this perfume?

It took me 10 years to discover it!!!

Amazing.

It reminds me of GUCCI II Perfume that is becoming hard to find nowadays.

Where to begin with Kelly?

Well, perhaps by saying she's most definitely a free spirit, an independent, sexy, classy, driven woman who knows what goes and what doesn't for herself. Untamable spirit.

The opening is a dance of Citruses and Leather notes: gently pungent, vibrant, uplifting. It takes a while before Iris makes its entrance, tip toeing forward as if to see who's around.
Behind her, Tuberose in chit chat with Vanilla follow suit, two joyful women having a good time, all smiles and laughters about some private joke whispered to each other.
One might think they are teasing Citruses and Leather's assumptions about who's the alfa in the room. They are carefree, curious of the surroundings but disinterested about engaging with them.
They need not show much power in the group: their presence says it louder and yet softer, they can keep to themselves, armony maintained nonetheless.

Rose? Sat somewhere in the room, removed from the others and uncaring of the happenings. You can just about spot her, then she's gone.

Independence, assertiveness, elegance, grace, wisdom: Kelly evokes the kind of woman who possesses them all, and needs never show off.

I wasn't really in the mood to write a Fragrantica review today. It's cold, raining, and I had to be outside all day, my nose is red & drippy, my ears hurt, my feet hurt, I just got in about an hour ago. So... yeah. I put this on at 8:50am this morning, 3 sprays total, on wrists and patting them gently all over the backs of my hands. The scent was a bit shrug-worthy to be honest, at least in the beginning. I bought this a while ago and it sat ignored in the back of my closet because I got Valentino's Donna very soon after.

Donna is another Leather & Rose fragrance, and it also has Iris & Vanilla in common with KC EDP. But even though it has 4 out of 7 notes in common, they do smell quite different. Donna is the candied, sexy, attention-seeker. The girl in the skin tight, hot pink dress, with deep cleavage, all about "Look at me! Here I am! And you can't have me!" She's not cheap or easy but she's definitely a tease.

Kelly Caleche EDP on the other hand turns out to be the younger, more serious sister who is more like "No, you can't have me, and don't even look!" She'd rather be in her room in front of the fireplace, cozy and reading a book, maybe with a purring kitty on her lap. It's not that she's not interested in feeling sexy or getting attention, it's more that there's a time and a place for it and she has to be in the mood. Kelly Caleche EDP has a quiet confidence that doesn't rely on sexuality or sensuality at all, this is the fragrance of "there's so much more to me than that" and all those other things make this girl so attractive whether she likes it or not.

So back to today, rainy, soggy, cloudy, cold. 1pm, I sniff my hand... What's this? I can still actually smell the Kelly Caleche?? Seriously?? Despite my drippy nose! And it's smelling really familiar all of a sudden. Like YSL's Paris EDP, but stripped down to the rose+violet+mimosa note, and a good dollop of leather added. When I came home and looked up the notes for Paris, I did see that they also have iris in common, literally 4 of their top 5 notes are the same, so it makes sense that my nose picked up on it (Paris EDT is one of my favorites.) I also want to name-drop Guerlain's Insolence EDP/EDT here because the violet reminds me of the violet from there too... When I was trying to figure out what it reminded me of, Insolence was one of the top contenders before I settled on Paris EDT.

It's past 5pm now and I could still smell it, but I re-sprayed a new layer on-top for this review. I think my main problem with it was that there's a citrussy feeling in the opening that made me go "...oh." I remember I even checked the first time to make sure this wasn't the EDT (supposed to have grapefruit notes in it) but nope, it's the EDP all right. Anyway, the citrus feeling goes away within 20 minutes, the rose & violet bloom, cushioned by mimosa, vanilla, iris, leather and the other notes.

It's definitely a 'try before you buy' fragrance so far as I'm concerned. If it turns out that this isn't the rose+leather frag for you, you might be interested in Valentino's Donna for sure, or possibly even ELDO Putain des Palaces. You just really need to figure out what mood you're going for because it turns out leather+rose can be very versatile.

I can't review this without comparing it to the original Kelly in EDT.

Let's talk about perfume flankers first. They're almost always derivative, how could they not be? Some are just truly stronger versions of their predecessors, with maybe a few stronger notes or new notes for a boost. Some are worth getting if you like the original, some, if you like the original, aren't worth getting. Some have nothing to do at all with the original perfume, and one wonders why they decided to associate it with their progenitors. So they're tricky.

I really like Kelly is EDT, and I think that this version, the EDP, is different enough, and interesting enough, and delivers on what the EDT was supposed to be in the first place, that if 1) you like the original, the EDP is worth sampling 2) you didn't like the original, the EDP is worth sampling:)

The EDT to me is a green, woody, earthy, citrus leather. It almost has an austere, chilly, natural feel to it. The EDP, while it has an overlap (after Ellena has his signature on almost everything he does, no?) is allot different in terms of personality and dominant notes.

So Kelly Eau de Parfum...Truly she's a plush, rich floral leather. She's sweeter and lusher than the original. The rose is the dominant note here, even stronger than the leather I think. Rose surrounded by violet, mimosa, and the leather. Kelly EDP is just freaking plush and sweetly floral and velvety soft.

While I imagine a woman wearing the EDT in the great outdoors, riding horses, turning up fragrant earth, the woman who wears the EDP is inside, in a wood paneled room, already lotioned up and perfumed, hair curled, putting on a red gown, candles burning, fresh flowers cut, surrounded by pleasantly scented warm room air.

I think that's the personality difference. The EDP just has a sweetness, a denseness, and a strong floral component that the EDT just doesn't have. Above all the EDP is NOT earthy. And in a way, while the leather notes buzz lightly around the flowers, the leather isn't a strong here.

Anyway, I have bottles of both versions and I love them to death. And thanks to JCE's gentle, understated hand, I can wear them to work, around the general public, and not worry about anything being too strong or offensive. Yet these perfumes have tremendous staying power and aren't just "skin scents." And if someone does smell me, I guarantee I smell fabulous.

Sabretoothkitten

So pretty! Very fresh yet sexy. I love the mimosa rose and very subtle leather. Many leathers are too heavy for me but this is so nice.

Dorange Sense

While I consider the EdP to be a 'better’ perfume than the EdT, because it sounds more like a proper perfume to the nose… I don't like this one. It has something facile about it and also moth dusty oldish.

I love my EdT instead!

Winter Sweet

It smells like a pleasant, calming and mellow leather and tea to my nose.

shushkin

I have only recently begun to enjoy the leather note. Kelly Caleche is the perfect introduction for a gal. It's nice new and expensive leather that never takes over from the other notes. Definitely just another note in the mix.

It is very ladylike. Roses, mimosa, violets and iris are powdery floral heaven. There is something about it that makes me think of fragrant tea. I can totally see why Grace Kelly was the inspiration.
I guess Grace is one of the old Hollywood greats but this does not smell in any way vintage. It seems timeless with its soft freshness and restraint. There is nothing heavy or screechy at all. You could go mad with application and I can't imagine anyone disliking the result. Yes, the sillage is less than average.

Yep, this is what you want to wear when having afternoon tea in Claridges. Class in a bottle.

UnearthlyApothecary

I blind bought this for my birthday because I got a great deal and I wanted a feminine leather that I could wear during our hot Arizona summer. I expected this to smell a lot like Valentino Donna as the notes are so similar. Donna was a pass for me it was very powdery and pink and sweet like chalky candy (sweet tarts or smarties) too sweet and I didn’t get much leather honestly. Kelly Caleche is very different. Despite the fact that this one is SUPPOSED to be powdery I didn’t find it so on me it’s leaning more towards fresh. It’s kinda bitter and acidic and sourish at first spray. I was thinking oh no the grape fruit. But there is not grape fruit in the EDP notes So I’m confused. I’m pretty sure it’s still in the mix. The leather is (thank goodness) VERY present. Much stronger then the floral notes, which is fine by me as leather is what I was looking for. I don’t find it oversweet either. After that rough opening it really settles into a nice classy leather handbag leather with delicate floral tones. The silage is moderate. I will need to spend some more time with this one, it wasn’t love at first sight but maybe it can grow on me.

olga_adriana

well i will start my review by saying...this is a skin scent! i cannot smell it on myself unless i put my nose right up to my wrist.i will say, that this is way more addictive than i ever expected it would be!!!

Kelly Caleche reminds me a little bit of L'Artisan Parfumeur's Dzing!, but a more feminine and less eccentric version. It even has the same hay accord. In fact, Kelly Caleche might smell more like hay to me thatn Dzing! does.

It's a beautiful scent, but there's no sillage. You would have to be up close in person and sniffing to smell this one.

It is lovely though. 100% high class

One Thursday afternoon..

I saw Princess Kelly Caleche EDP walk into the grand salon of Hotel Hermitage, wearing beige and brown Chanel suit, carrying a Blue Izmir bag with Twilly'd up handle in Rouge Hermes. They smell of creamy vanilla and leather, with a trail of iris and rose.

Her smile eradiates the same type of sweetness with Sur Le Toit and Sur Le Nil, who also share the same father.

Apparently, allegedly the father likes to fool around with the neighbor. Her initials are YSL. Their alleged daughter is nicknamed "In Love Again."

Anyway, back to Miss Kelly Caleche.

Upon chatting with her for 2-3 hours, her breath filled up the room with a bouquet of violet, rose, and tuberose.

How did she do that? Everyone was mesmerized.

The scent of the spring fairy. She arrives in ancient Europe - perhaps France or England - on a beautiful white horse, rides through the woods, leaving a trail of rosebuds, fresh grass and daffodils on her way. Even a fresh galbanum note is there - the forest awakens. Brings me into a nice mood of old times, though it's a really modern scent! One of my go-to-office fragrances (apart from Gabrielle, which is totally different, sunny elegance) The only complaint: in the cold of winter, green top notes stay too long and get a bit acidic on my skin.
But when the temperature rises ... the spring fairy comes. She is very welcome.

fumongous

My least favorite fragrance, out of thousands. The ONLY scent that has actually made me physically ill. Even just thinking about it makes my head start to hurt and my stomach churn! I think it’s the iris combined with the leather here that for me creates something toxic. I have the bottle in it’s box encased in a super thick plastic sealed bag in a closet. Seriously, I don’t even want to touch it...lol. Interesting how different we can be in our perceptions of scents. Bottom line on this one- don’t blind buy as I did!
P.S. I sold this and I’m actually relieved that it’s out of my house. Silly? Perhaps. But that’s how much I hate this. Glad that someone else can enjoy this as it definitely was not me!

I was signed out as guest_ below...
One of my new found favorites. I find this much better than the edt version. I did not like the grapefruit in the edt.

This edp has the addition of vanilla. It really softens out the leather. The leather is prominent throughout. It's pleasantly powdery as well.

It does have a bit of that quality vintage cosmetics from the bottom of a high end leather handbag smell. This would make a great everyday scent. I would wear this into the night also. I find it signature worthy for a conservatively non-complicated woman.

Now this one is lovely. A bit harsh in the beginning but it dries down to softly powdery leather with lipstick violet.

rakan1985

scent : 9/10
sillage : 7/10
longevity :7/10
80% day / 20% night fragrance
nice green feminine scent
reminds me of Sur Le Nil but more feminine

raiza1990

I had high expectations, but i am disappointed. This is not bad, but people described it in such glorious terms that i was expecting much more. It is an ok fragrance. A powdery, make upy leather with a bit of rose . it is refined and elegant but unimaginative and a bit too tame.
For a floral leather, i prefer Fan di Fendi and Fan di Fendi extreme.

Kiwichick1

This is the only Hermes I've tried and/or purchased. After spraying this Eau d parfum version I wondered what was there, but within minutes I smelt the rose and fresh green notes. I was weary to buy a perfume that had a leather note, but I can't detect it, its ever so subtle. After a while, what settled on my skin was an expensive smelling fresh rose, delicate floral. Long lasting. Oh I'm so glad I took the plunge with the leather note. It's beautiful.

Roxanne25

Delicate, feminine fragrance. Soft, spring rose - only petals or even rosebuds - on leather base. And delicate powder coming from the iris and violet in the background.
What really amazes me is the prominent citrus note in the beginning. I checked the box then checked the bottle, both says eau de perfume. But citrus it there - fresh and tangy, perfectly combined with rose. Maybe my skin amplifies a note or a mixture of notes that gives this citrusy feel, I don't know. Anyway, I like it. I like the sparkling beginning, the delicate floral heart and the expensive, fine leather that is always there. Very exquisite fragrance - youthful, elegant and long lasting.

Beadvised

Very different from anything I've ever smelled leather notes blended with rose and other florals. I do not personally like this. However I see the appeal.

almondcookie

This is a delicate floral scent. Ultra feminine. Very natural, Reminds me of spring. This is what a lady should smell like. All the notes are in sync and it lasts without being overpowering. I really like this scent. This was well executed.

Soofiya

It's not a real review
Just that I remember to test it last year and I almost hated it!I remember a green, citrusy opening blended with a cucumbey violet, then a very mature plastic rose drydown which was too much masculine for me.I wasn't surprised to find out I dislike it since it's very difficult to find a Hermes which I can really like, merveilles amber, hermes rouge and Faubourg 24 being my only exceptions.today I found it's sample among a bunch of other samples and sprayed it once on back of my hand.honestly I'm surprised!
Still it's initial blast is a little citrusy and green(grapefruit like?)but it soon settles down to this soft powdery flowers wrapped in a sheer velvety layer of a warm leather note which is not dirty, plasticy or masculine even a bit.rose, violet and iris all appear very subtle here followed by a touch of non-sweet creamy vanilla which seems to have a balancing role
It's a very soft scent all through it's life.a sensual and classy skin scent which has been with me for +10 hours upto now but it's so delicate that I can't smell it without sniffing my hand closely
As I mentioned before it's not a real review, not yet as I'm puzzled right now and I need further testings.after using up my sample I'm going to make my final decision but for now I see nothing to dislike here since it appears as a soft, inoffensive skin scent on me.though it's pleasant and it becomes more lovely as time passes I can say that I love it either
P.s:
It reminds me miss boucheron speacially after first hour of it's application.miss boucheron is a more youthful, slightly fruity version and isn't as light and faint as this one

Veronica85

A piece of art indeed! in summers, all I need and can tolerate is freshness in perfumes. This one has nothing to do with "freshness", But I surprisingly can wear it in these warm days. The class has done its job perfectly!

tiababy

A very feminine, pretty leather with powdery roses and violets. I've never smelled a leather this prim and proper before, but it makes perfect sense coming from Hermes and being inspired by Grace Kelly. This is something I'd wear to a professional occasion or when I want to wear something more conservative, it's rather "buttoned up".

craftymaya

Powdery? Yes. VERY!
Roses/flowers? yes.
Leather? Well hidden if it's in there!!
Fragrance: rather sugary sweet, nothing really special.
I found it (honestly, but that's my own opinion) rather boring. Not for me...

Mysticalili

The best perfume of all! Trust me! I´ve already had the EDT version (that made me feel special when I received great compliments) and I´m jumping for joy now that I finaly got the EDP version. I think that I rule the world with this fragrance. I love Kelly Calèche to death!

ladenu

Absolutely sexy and very dominant rose & leather scent. Definitely a headturner. I need a bottle of this in my life.

epicurean

Leather? What leather? I can barely detect it on my skin. There is a suede-lite accord as the scent dries down, but it's almost imperceptible.

That aside, this is an extremely wearable and pleasant floral, most suitable for autumn and spring. The floral notes are very well blended and sweetened with a light touch of vanilla. The rose Ellena uses is recognisable here. At times Kelly Caleche EDP reminded me of Un Jardin sur le Toit, which is strange because the notes are very different. I would agree with many who have mentioned that there is some citrus in the top notes alongside the mimosa (thankfully at a lower dose than the EDT, which had a sourness that made it impossible to wear; see also Jour d'Hermes).

This is hard to dislike, unless you can't stand powder in perfumes. I'd recommend it as something to buy as a part of a rotation of office scents.

modernfumie

Soapy soapy soapy soap. Dove soap, specifically. I had a friend sniff my wrist to confirm, and she agreed.

Is it my skin? Is it the Ellena-ade? Or is the combination of powdery iris with rose?

Good for smelling like clean skin, I suppose.

fyre92

Smells like Caleche soie de parfum with fruit added. I am surprised people are saying they don't smell alike....
Lovely none the less :)

Skayalily

Opens up with all leather. And then the florals come in both powdery and green. If there were a category for floral leather; this is the exemplar. The idea of an upscale handbag is spot on. The powdery (iris/rose) florals could easily be the expensive makeup items placed inside. And the green violets, sweetened with mimosa, accentuate the sour tannins of the leather perfectly. There's a fresh menthol-ish note that I can't quite identify, but is lovely and balanced well. Sillage is just off the skin after the first hour's wave of leather. And I get a comfortable day's wear from an application.

Dadadida

This is amazing. This is a perfume I "flirt" with everytime I hit a depertment store, for the last 3 years.
To me It quite simply smells like smooth roses, and earthy leather, with a sweet note that to me smells like cassis. It is quite powdery, but the sweeter and fruitier note that I detect (that is not written) balances it out.
It is quite simply great. It's demure while somehow still manging to be sexy. It's simple and fresh yet sophisticated and rich. To me, this is a one classy perfume.

If I would have to choose 3 words to sum this frgrance up, they would be: Rich; Classic; Playful

fpih

I was gifted a bottle of this, else I'd never have tried it since the EDT is one of those fragrances that I can't stand at all. I was shocked with how much I ended up liking it! I believe the lack of grapefruit notes is the reason for my love affair with the EDP. The EDP is 100% leather, with a powdery feeling, but also a bit sour due to the rose and thus easy to wear it even on a hot day like today. Like another reviewer, I do get strong chamomile notes for the first hour, which later dissipitate but don't disappear completely.

For me this a perfect fragrance for everyday wear, especially if you're in the 30+ age group because it's elegant without being stuffy or pretentious but also very close to a skin scent, which makes it wearable in every social occasion, from the meeting room to the playground with the kids. Lasting power is above 12 hours for me (at that point it smells a bit like melted beeswax infused with flower petals, yum!), but sillage is not enormous, which I guess is something your co-workers will appreciate. The fact that it is unlike any other fragrance I own or have tested, as well as not widely used, make this a good candidate for a signature scent in my book. Did I say I was impressed?

Mariam alqubaise

Leather in this scent makes others fond of you subconsciously

It is for special moments.

something_wild

I was not sure how I felt about this fragrance at first and wasn't too comfortable buying a full bottle, but when the saleslady offered to fill my Hermes leather atomizers (in taupe :) ) I had to say yes. I am so happy I did! It's elegant and sophisticated but still young. Unlike Caleche, which is beautiful in its own way, but too mature for me. I also find its 1000x better than the EDT in my opinion. Both versions are sour, though the EDT smells a little bit like sour milk to me and the EDP is more of a fresh fruity sour.
The leather and rose are paired beautifully in this fragrance. Red berries are there as well, but it's not sweet.

AliPratt25

What a beautiful scent! Upon the first spray you can definitely smell the leather/suede which is a bit overwhelming at first, then a nice floral dry down afterwards. Sillage is good...I felt like the scent radiated at least a foot from my body. Longevity is excellent at 8 hours. Very classy, feminine, lovely scent! This is a great addition to anyone's wardrobe.

zu_misha88

I am not sure how I feel about this scent. I received it as a present along with the matching body lotion. Like others mentioned, it opened crisp then quickly moved to citrus-floral, hint of leather territory. As the day wore on though, it deepened into a very leathery scent and ended that way. On me, it was very long-lasting (I layered it with the matching body lotion). Sillage seemed moderate (at least that was my hope). It is indeed a unique scent and definitely had traces of the Hermes "Juice" but I am not sure I am comfortable with the heavy leather scent at the end of the journey which lasted longer than the other phases. I tried it in cold weather. I will need to see how this wears during warm weather. For some reason, I am fearful of wearing this scent and annoying people around me. I will need to get the courage to give it another try.

franksgirl

One of the perfumes I reach for quite often and I miss it when I run out

kerry_rahma

I'm hooked the second the saleswoman spray it gently on my wrist.. It is unique and can't be described similar to other perfume. But definitely a mature perfume, although not old. Very fine for evening, because it is sophisticated. Just beautiful..

antheavl

Just beautiful and so unique. Smells like an expensive leather handbag filled with roses and violets. Very work-appropriate, this makes me picture a very well-put-together woman in designer business clothes, immaculate hair and makeup, and completely self-assured. Sophisticated and classy!

szilviabartha

Violet and leather on my skin. On my clothes I smell peony...beautiful, sophisticated scent. I am hooked:)

lepalm

This is a very demure, barely there violet tinged leather...in the dry down. For almost all of the duration, citrusy grapefruit is the most dominant note, strongest in the beginning but persistent all the way into the drydown.

I really like the leather-violet combo and wish I got more of it.

I will try this again in the near future on a very hot day and hope it plays out differently on my skin than it does on this very mild 70°C day.

leschoux

Kelly Calèche, you really are something else.

I got a sample of this and it was love at first smell. I fall in love with perfumes quite easily, but this must have set the record because I went right to "Give me a bottle of this" in approximately two seconds.

It's unlike other Hermès perfumes I know and love. Almost all of the Hermès perfumes I have and love are either very vegetal, green, herby or aquatic. This is something else. Kelly Calèche opens with a burst of floral which quickly turns into something very leathery and powdery. The leather and powder blend is very creamy and I'm actually very surprised I love it that much since it somewhat reminded me of YSL's Parisienne and I steer clear from Parisienne because it smells too synthetic to me. However, if Parisienne is like spilling perfume inside a cheap vinyl makeup bag, Kelly Calèche is more like spilling expensive perfume inside an equally expensive, very luxurious leather bag.

Anyway, over time, Kelly Calèche loses its creamy, soft leathery-powdery scent and turns more floral; the cosmetics-perfume-leather-bag combination also grows stronger. A caveat, though: this combination is perfectly lovely in colder weather but in hotter climate this could easily become dizzying scent bomb. Thankfully though, this perfume does not have enormous sillage like Dior's Poison.

Overall, this is a very lovely homage to both the bag and the original Calèche. This is a very yummy evening perfume and I fail to see how this would offend anyone if worn correctly. Kelly Calèche is elegant and mesmerising, just like Grace Kelly herself. Hermès did a very good job with this. Had I lived somewhere colder, this could very well boot Coco Mademoiselle or my Un Jardin perfumes out of my "favourites" list.

PS: the bottle is insanely pretty too!

Rating: 9/10

akhala

It seems that this fragrance is experienced very differently by different people. Therefore, I will only add that for me it is a unique perfume that stands out in the most beautiful and elegant way. An absolute masterpiece with extremely well interwolven noten.

As of a comparison between this (edp) and the edt, I much more prefer the edp. I first got aquainted via sample with the edt and liked it very much. However, I recently received the edp as a gift and was amazed how much better it was. The edp is very delicate and the edt is sharp.

Love, love, love!

WhiteFlowerGirl

I am so glad I gave the EDP a chance (having disliked the EDT).

The EDP is lovely and fresh, I get the leather and rose and a hint of violet.

On first spraying I get the impression of Turkish Delight, but this does not last and is replaced by a lovely soft almost powdery scent.

The bottle is cute with the padlock and twist to raise the nozzle for spraying.

Narkus

First, I find it quite fresh and mesmerizing but confusing. Why is there no grapefruit listed in the notes? I know it's there. It doesn't have the abrasive opening of the edt, but it's pretty intensive and persistent. I don't see how the other notes could create that scent? Someone tell me please. The edt was too sour and bitter for me. I like the floral grapefruit in Jour d' Hermes too, so Kelly reminds me of it, though the other notes are all different. I would say the grapefruit fades in a half hour, but it's still there. the sweet of it is so fine and delicate--gossamer powder. Silage and longevity are very good. I get leather caressing the floral but not the deep leather scent others have mentioned, and I barely detect the vanilla, such a whisper. I honestly can not pick out the individual flowers but a wafty mix of rose, tuberose and jasmine in a gyre of a dance-- quite lovely.

RosieRachel

Kelly Caleche is a lovely softly-sweet floral bouquet from Hermes. Very chic and sophisticated.

When I smelt this in the vial, I couldn't smell the leather at all, and for some strange reason, when that happens, it usually means that the accord is suede instead of leather. My skin strongly dislikes suede; it's always a strong chemical accord on me. However, because Kelly Caleche is a very busy fragrance in the beginning, it makes it difficult to determine all of the notes. I think that I am smelling leather which is anchoring all of the florals, because there does seem to be a darker sort of note behind them.

The perfume is citrusy on my skin in the opening, and afterwards I definitely smell some powdery iris, rose, mimosa (acacia) and violet. I think it's one of those perfumes that you would be able to clearly determine all of the notes with repeat wearings. The dry-down is much softer; a cleaner, lighter and fresher sort of floral. In addition, I didn't get a lot of vanilla - it's mainly flowers and leather on me.

Overall, the EDP is much more powdery and floral than the EDT, which I found lighter and fresher with it's grapefruit accord. But the two are quite similar. The sillage is soft and very pretty; longevity is for about 6-7 hours.

ScarlettX

I see that people love it. Unfortunately I can't like it much.
It's a very strong perfume, mostly I sense leather and violet.
It's mature, not youthful at all.
There is powdery elegance, but I still can't enjoy it.

Daisy1984

This is a truly elegant perfume. It is well blended, distinctive and long wearing. I have a big bottle of the edp but I'm ashamed to say I don't reach for it often. I love rose and leather notes but somehow I don't find this easy to wear for every day. I reserve it for special occasions, particularly professional ones (meetings, conferences etc.) when I want to feel smart, sophisticated and authoritative.

Rianna1

Oh wow did this one surprise me! Typically I'm not a fan of Rose nor leather, but this is just beautiful! It Does have a very realistic "stick your nose in an leather bag" vibe, VERY Luxurious and Expensive smelling. If you struggle with rose and leather like me, but are interested in exploring something new. I'd definitely say give this one a try. It's lovely.

karola12345

Refreshing grapefruit opening, very pleasant and elegant rose and hay drydown. My favorite spring/summer scent.

blue_belle

This may be the most elegant perfume I've ever tried. It starts out very light, a nearly aquatic blend of violet and iris, and then the rose and leather slowly come in. The leather is truly buttery, and a gorgeous treatment of the note. I'm reminded of an young woman wearing a well-made leather jacket or pair of gloves. She's fashionable and lively, but also wise beyond her years.

When I tested this today I accidentally wore it through my run (in the hot and humid weather outdoors--I figured it would have died out by then!), so I have a pretty good idea how it performs in hot versus cool weather. In the cool the leather and floral notes are in perfect balance, which comes across as a very relaxing scent to me. In the heat more of the leather comes out so the scent is darker and just a touch more animalic. I don't usually like that kind of accord, but in this it's subtle and very nice.

This is going to the top of my want list, and as soon as I can get my hands on a bottle it may very well become a new signature for me. I just can't get enough!

adorkable_scent

Actually my dad bought my mom this one for her birthday but she didnt like it and ended up giving this to me and tbh this is definitely noooooot my scent. For my this smells very spicy and animalic.. a lil bit sweet but the sour part take over the part at the end. This is absolutely reflects the 18/19th century kinda smells.. just like the people at titanic (you know like the people from the upper crust from Britain whose accent is Posh :D) i just directly thought of them when i smelled this perfume! Classic and strong but for older women:)

Lana148

Leather & Rose. Elegant, delicate, easy to wear, long lasting. Very pleasant, truly feminine perfume!

Arlene-Beatrix

Deep leather scent. I think leather perfumes can be incredibly sexy, but not all ladies can use them. On my skin this fragrance is quite heavy, maybe because of my skin type - oily to mixed. Most of powerful scents are just too intense on my skin. Typical power monsters. And I don't want to kill anyone with my perfume, really!

Update: Base notes are comforting but too intense for me.

projectalice345

I am always hunting for the right leather frag. I love love love leather smells. Sadly this was a disappointment because I cant wear rose of any kind. I smelled what can only be described as really soft suede leather, I pictured almost a pink smooth to the touch buttery suede next to some plastic flowers......I just wanted the suede only. The flowers gave me a head ache, didn't like it. Theres no horse smells or dirtiness. I think its a nice one to try if you love leather, its not spicy or musky, there's for me a kind of pretentiousness to it but it was pretty all the same. I like my leather kinda punk rock and this is not what this smells like. Leather is so primal, this smells like trying to lift your pinky at tea time while your leather purse heats up in the sun. Its very smooth and good quality though, and a must try if you love leather, just to experience. If it does work for you, its not as expensive as some leather scents....ahem Tom Ford im looking at you.

This is a stunning elegant fragrance. Today was the first time I tried it and I have no idea why it took me so long to try this one. I think once I am out of one of my "work day" fragrances I will buy this instead. It is exactly what I am looking for.

vik73

So many things were written about this scent. I am not going to analyze the notes and the impression it did. The only thing is that after using the niche perfumery and spending a lot by looking for something unique Kelly Caleche became my signature scent. Really unique for someone who is tired of the mainstream perfumery. Thanks

danceforjoy

Pardon the repost, I first put this in the wrong place.

Mm. De-lovely. Alone in a rose garden after a light morning rain, sun peaking through the clouds, a bundle of pink rosebuds on a stem, standing firm, it's not yet late enough in the year for them to open. The leather is a memory of winter, the flowers look with expectation for summer to come.

I am very much enjoying this youthful but elegant , fun , playful master piece.
Its full of sweet roses and soft suede leather. The leather however is not strong and if I didn't know about it I would not think it was leather , now that I do know I realize its soft sweet leather , an easy leather scent to wear for non leather lovers. It has a certain elegance and sophistication that I am drawn to but it also has a youthful side to it , it suits any age any situation from morning to nighttime. I love the sweetness !
The Dry down is a little more leathery but by no means a leather anyone would find too much. Even a leather hater could not hate Kelley !
Caleche EDP The iris and the violets is what makes this perfume so amazing in my opinion and I appreciate how the vanilla makes it warm and rounds it up. Amazing composition. I tried the Edt and in comparison its fresher and more citrusy. It's maybe a great summer option and may be even less of the leather , if any. I preferred the EDP by far as it is rounder and sweeter and well pretty much perfect for what I want :)
I love how its fresh and sweet.
Update, i have wearing this a lot and I can smell the calfskin now a lot more. Its great. It smells of roses and suede with fresh soapy violets , the vanilla is gourgous too. I am tempted to get the edt for the hotter summer months.

emilianods75

Sexy, sophisticated, chic and classy. The leather and the rose are gorgeous together. Somehow I feel it spicy...like pepperish. Absolutly a must have fragrance!

chittylafemme

I want to like it because of the glowing reviews, but it makes me feel nauseous. An unpleasant coagulation forms within my mouth.

Do you remember the smell of your mom's favourite purse? Leather, lipstick, cash, a perfume sample or two, and at least one piece of emergency candy. If you look back fondly on that gloriously feminine scent, you'll adore Kelly Calèche. This fragrance simultaneously evokes feelings of comfort and class.

I'm glad I didn't read the notes list before trying this...I may never have sampled it out of an irrational fear of smelling like a sweaty old man smothered in flowers. The leather note is most prominent to me, but it's light and blends divinely with the florals to keep things fresh and feminine. I think of cashmere-lined driving gloves nestled next to a rose-scented Lancôme lipstick. Mmmm.

I first wore Kelly Calèche during a girls' day out downtown in a new city, a day which ended in my getting my nose pierced. The piercing was something I'd been wanting for a million years but never thought I'd have the courage to actually do. This fragrance definitely helped give me a little push. Fond memories! :)

Mellyhelly
you smell it like that because you smell it from a close distance with concentration,,
try smelling it from a far distance , also spray it from far not too close and you will smell the lovely rose with leather mixed so lovely,,

one of the best perfumes in my opinion , has class on its own..

elegant,,

Mellyhelly

Same story with EdP. Yes, it smells richer and different, but not for me.
On paper I smell an elegant and bold mix of flowers, rose, geranium, leather...
On my skin: rotten hay and dirty horse saddle.
Why??
:-(

faithserene

Buying in the auction time..and I am lucky to try it..I cant explain in detail, but simply I love it...

dhya

This fragrance is very special and unusual. Smells expensively sweet and delicious in my body chemistry.

This is rose scent (which I love so much) blended with unique leathery and animalic scent with a little powdery in there, I felt it very light but with strong personality.

One of my favorite for day time party. Good Silage and long lasting too

anapardo81

I like it & I'm thinking of repurchasing it. It's simply a pretty unique scent. It doesn't remind me of any other perfume.

milkyway

I really like this-smells just like a nice pair of gloves sprayed with rosy perfume. It develops nicely on skin, even though leather doesn't seem to evolve very much as time passes, but that's just one of it's specificities.
Smells classy and wild at the same time. The sweet aroma of flowers is contained by potent leather. I would say that this is a perfume for all ages, however the lasting power is rediculous- I can barely smell it after 2 hours. The projection is pretty good though while it lasts. If looking for leathery rose try Agent Provocateur- a creamier , more rounded perfume in similar olfactive group, and lasts longer (on me at least).

cumulnimbus

I didn't like the edt when I went to test it by 2008, I suppose I expected something different from what I found as a Calèche fanatic.

Years later, when I was buying another Hermes scent the salesman who was assisting me suggested to try the edp on my skin. It worked perfectly well. The top notes include some citrus I'm sure, then roses and violets appear to be followed and merged to my very much liked mimosa-tuberose combination, though here kept in a low volume to give space to the leather end. I celebrate the lack of vanilla excess.

Overall, I find it a very well blended, a sophisticated fresh bittersweet leather with a slight powdered character. Bitter scents do not work on everybody's skin but they do on mine, and this one has quite a long life on it as well.

I don't know why but I need to be in a good mood to pick Kelly Calèche, so it fits my spring and autumn best days.

EDIT: I've been using this a few days in a row lately, it is still quite cold over this side of the planet and I found that cool weather promotes the roses in this perfume on my skin, in a fresh beautiful way, which is saying a lot as I'm not usually that fond of roses.

courant

Horticulturally speaking geranium refers first to geranium macrorrhizum the plant from which oil of geranium was first produced. Perhaps it is this that stole my heart, I adore this humble and easily grown plant. I know nothing of owning Kelly handbags but I did enjoy the movie, 'Le Divorce'. I own the EDT and have ordered the EDP after using up my sample. Russell Page wrote a book entitled the Education of a Gardener.
Jean Claude Ellena has written the Education of a Perfume Addict in the notes of Kelly Caleche. Be still my beating heart, I love this fragrance in spite of its inability to cope with heat. I don't think I will ever be without it. Domininque Francon would have worn this. She would have thrown the bottle down the airconditioning shaft to smash into a thousand little pieces because it was too beautiful for others to know. Sigh...and sigh again

rickyrebarco

After wearing this lovely scent continually for two days I can say that it is a new favorite and I am not always a rose scent lover. The rose is warm and tempered by the violet and iris. I love that the iris comes through more and more as it dries down. There is definintely leather here but I do not smell it really strongly like some others have said. It's in the background, a lovely suede, expensive purse shop smell, but does not overwhelm. It's a nice balance to the florals. I agree that the violet and iris and especially the tuberose become more prominent after a couple of hours, but all the other notes are still there. The tuberose note is stunning.

I find this a much better scent than then Kelly Caleche EDT, which smells rather lemony and synthetic in comparison. The parfum smells like real roses and irises strewn around a gorgeous Hermes bag tied with an Hermes scarf, of course! It smells young and fresh to me as well. Anyone of any age could wear this beautiful scent. Another beauty from Jean-Claude Ellena.

esmee diora

I just purchased 2 sample edp's after reading all the awesome reviews. It's not as strong as I hoped, or long lasting. If the edp isn't lasting I cant imagine edt being any better. Overall love the scent concept, just wish it was stronger and better lasting. I'd still buy the bigger bottle to spray much more on.

onebadbaby

This version doesn't seem to be on the Hermes website anymore. Please tell me they aren't discontinuing it!!!!

pbluberry

This is better than the EDT. All I get from EDT is a strange smell from the begining, guess it's the leather. The EDP smells almost exactly the same without that nasty opening. Wished I got this first instead. Ohh well.... lesson learned.

DariDahlia

Smells sexy & nasty. Like S&M.

katrin1128

I bought the EDP about a year ago and have been wondering why I hadn't been reaching for it much. So I wore it again today and realized what it was. The EDP opens beautifully. A feminine rose/violet/mimosa scent with a pervasive leather note. For about the first four hours I couldn't get enough; it smelled so heavenly.
But after four hours all I smell is the strong leather, nothing else. For some reason it smells to me of a heavily upholstered bar. It's way too masculine for me. I thought of refreshing it with another spritz or two, but it's still so strong that I think it would be overpowering. I have an overwhelming desire to go scrub it off, or ride a horse.
Based on the comments, body chemistry seems to affect the scent of this one so much!

LiLoLiLo

I've just got Kelly ! It's such a beautiful combination, that I can't stop smelling it ! It's unique, outstanding and special! And the bottle is very elegant ! I love it ! Kelly Caleche is gonna be my new signature scent! Sorry Pure Poison ;)

stella by starlight

this one dosent work for me. for the first 30 minutes it was a pungent blend of citrus and leather, very unpleasant, like i'm in a shoe factory or a tanner. than it mellowed a bit but still not something that i would like to wear or smell around me.

s_athena

I fell in love with Kelly Caleche in the EDT version but didn't get along well with the greener notes at the top. Well, those green notes are absent here. This version doesn't smack you over the head and drag you into her s&m dungeon the way the EDT does. Instead, you get more of a caress, but this is still severe, like the aloof caress of a reserved stepmother. Both the EDT and EDP have a certain elitist distance to them, but the EDP is definitely more old-world and aristocratic - she's a baroness walking back from her morning equestrian exercise, not a hair out of place in the French twist underneath her riding helmet. I see where people get the "barnyard" accord from, but to me this is a clean stable smell, more like fresh hay and polished saddles than unshoveled stables or sweaty horses. If done lightly, it's perfect for the office if you want to smell good but communicate distance and power - but please, for the love of God, not on a hot day!

GoodVibrations

The eau de parfum smells slightly sweeter and more floral from the beginning to the end of wearing than the eau de toilette. It dries to smell like high quality, supple conditioned leather with a high class, fresh, moderately plush personality. Feminine in that it's not masculine, though not completely unwearable by men.

emfelicio

I like unconventional scents like leather/animalic and I've tried Kelly Kaleche EDP twice. I like it but I find it too soft for me, so I'm not going to buy it. Can any of you recommend me a more intense fragrance similar to this one? In the perfume shops when I ask for intense women fragrances they show me sweet/heavy ones.

iivanita

this one is much different from EDT, which is grapefruit- leathery-rosy and very transparent summer scent! i got addicted to EDTs bitternes and the leather is not heavy....
while EDP is just a bit cloying...this rose here makes me sick, and i cant stand it after 15 mins, its like some wet rose with butter, and so overpowering for my nose. but EDT i enjoyed , loved that citrusy part of it a lot!and yes it smelled great on fabric!

SundayMorning

This bee stings, mamacitas
Its just really my type of girl and she´s adorably amazing if your just about to enter the "niche" world for the first time.

If you´v been in the bizniz for a while, thats ok, Kelly will embrace you like a strong, strict (well behaved, but Don´t you question her) and chic stephmother.

I've worn this about 5 times so far, and now I think I've truly begun to understand this fragrance. My nose doesn't detect the leather as much in the top because I am sensitive to rose notes. The rose in this one is beautifully expressed, and blends nicely with the floral and leather accords. The drydown is soft and wispy, like the smell of a nearby passenger on a bus who is freshly showered and wearing a fine leather jacket. This, imo, is a cooler weather fragrance, because the balance of notes can so easily topple over. When I first smelled this, I sprayed it and walked through the mist on my way out the door....and i loved it. The 2nd time, I sprayed it directly on my shirt and the smell pestered me all day. The 3rd time,I sprayed it on my hand and loved it. Finally, i caught on, and now I just walk through a spray or two and usually wear on skin. I've heard that most Hermes fragrances are best on fabric but this smells best 'from a distance', and not directly under your nose.

mimi.smell

This is an ABSOLUTE FRESH DIVINE - elegant, feminine divine !!!!
I have no words to describe properly or exactely how it develops, but it's unbelievable. It's really very strong at the beginning and it's IMPOSSIBLE TO PREDICT the divinity of this perfume , which develops in about one hour (or even more - depends how much you apply). If you'll be patient, you'll get final fantastic smell... as clean and fresh as eary morning, as uplifting as the greatest news... That's what I think about Kelly Caleche!

Actually I'm not shure, what's the most important factor to make an excellent perfume: The nose behind it= the master who creates or/and the quallity of ingredients. I think both! Kelly Galleche has them, I'm shure. This is a real masterpiece.

I love it so much, I'm crazy about it !

iam2sexy4uris

If I ha to get really technical with description of this perfume, I would have say - male cat urine, that's how I would describe the smell. It smells the same on my wrist as it does in the bottle, pure cat urine!

Majesty

Kelly Caleche L'Eau de Parfum is very different comparing it to Kelly Caleche EDT.First of all,L'Eau de Parfum doesn't carry the citrus-bergamot opening of EDT,it's lighter, more transparent.L'Eau de Parfum is a more intense version that shows immediately the beauty of rose with a hint of violet, not powdery though. It's a perfect combination of fine leather and rose. It's double personality reminds me Ange ou Demon.Innocent, soft rose, dark fine leather.Very nice, unique rose scent with good longevity.

prigipessa

OK I have a problem here. This is my favourite one, so so so different like nothing else. Dominating. Absolute. Feminine. Strong. Confident. Classy. The one, the loyal one.
And then there is the other, the lover, the temptation, the sin... the honey-powder. I'm talking about Chloe... Every time the same dillemma... Like Kelly being my husband who I do love and Chloe a tempting lover. I want them both. Badly.... But I have to choose. There should be only one that accompanies me evreywhere...

driggs46

I gambled on this one because of the notes and the nose (Jean Claude Elena). I bought the EDT without smelling it first, and as I'm sure you know; if you are reading this, that was an expensive gamble. But boy did it pay off! I loved it so much that I bought the EDP as soon as it came out. With that said, both of them take you on an entirely different journey. The EDT is so much lighter, and brighter, while the EDP is very soft and deep.

I find that the EDT's rose notes are at the top, with the violet lying just beneath. To me the leather smells like a new pair of gloves and isn't dominate after the first few minutes. It settles nicely into the floral notes with a light vanilla just underneath.

For me the EDP has violet and leather notes at the top from the beginning, and they stay there for a long time. It does finally give way to the rose, but the vanilla is barely noticeable.

With the understanding that one of the differences between EDP and EDT is that there is a lot more alcohol in the EDT...it really seems to make a very dramatic difference in this fragrance. More so then I have ever noticed in any other fragrance. To me they seem almost like two different scents. One is very bright, and light hearted (day time), and the other is very subdued, sexy and sophisticated (night time).

If you are looking for a classy and elegant fragrance either one of these will make you happy!! I love, LOVE, love them both, and wouldn't be without either one of them.

ducktuck

This started out as floral on me, and then quickly turned to leather. About 30 min later it smelled like vegetables on me. I found it really interesting, and pleasant enough but it didn't really strike me.

silvrsrfr

Should be a beautiful scent on a woman; clean, fresh, lilly floral. I don't really get the leather, though. What I do sense, is a realy nice tea....

irma303

i love the opening... lots of rose.. but later on i only can smell leather :( My boy likes the smell though :-)

honeycake

love both EDT and EDP ..feel comfortable, delicate, attractive feminine and longly scent over day&night when wear it

TakaBeata

Who let the horses out...???
Unfortunately the note of horses is so, so strong that I cannot wear it . Definitely I prefer the leather-version EDT.

Edit: I tested this scent the second time end of May, and ...I must admit that more and more pleases to me . :))

eid-althani

my problem with this lovley scent is the longivety your not going to enjoy it for long time i woul luv to see hermes reales a intense version of

RosaMilena

A very beautiful opening on this one for me. The opening is angelically ethereal with delicate green notes, lily of the valley, narcissus, and roses. Unfortunately it quickly descends into the all too mundane world of unappealing bodily functions such as sweat going rancid on skin; old leather in this case. A core of tuberose doesn’t help in my case either since it only serves to bolster the increasing sour acridity and rapidly dwindling freshness as this scent wears on. The central climbing rose and mimosa do not shine on me in this one. They appear briefly and flatten into the pit of an inglorious iris base which in this case translates to a very unclean mud splashed atop rancidly unwashed (expensive) leather in a damp and moldering wood barn. To describe the scent via scenario…….Your magnificent thoroughbred has just won the Kentucky Derby in record time today. It was a muddy track to run on as well. The day is warm and humid. The horse, saddle, and jockey are covered in an exhausted sheen of sweat with that glorious championship blanket of roses as they walk slowly back to the barn. Upper crust? Aristocratic? Equestrian? Why yes of course, but definitely NOT what I would ever wish to smell like.

sab628

This is my first review here, I did it especially for this perfume. God this smells so good on me ! Creamy, like grandma's face powder, with the leather note, mmm, divine and obsessive ! I just realized my second favorite is Visa by Piguet, so unknown to me I have a crush to leather perfumes . I have a bit of a wild, sensual side, so it all matches. Anyway, this is a very good, very classy perfume, but you have to hold your own to wear it !

Tigerlillian

A little sour to open with a hint of citrus and the light, green feel of violet.

Rose and subtle swatches of leather then surface, but a little of the sourness remains.

As the Kelly Caleche L'EDP continues to evolve, subtle powdery notes develop suggesting that the leather is soft suede.

This is actually a really nice fragrance, unusual and attractive, but just not to my preference.

onebadbaby

On paper I hated this- but couldn't get it out of my head- so I tried it again on skin- again- I didn't really like it at first. It took about an hour or two before I began to appreciate the subtlety of this perfume. The grapefruit and leather are the dominant notes in the opening, as it dries down the leather remains pretty constant, but the citrus is replaced with subtle florals, which I can't quite make out. It never goes powdery like most fragrances tend to, but remains quite sparking with the leather giving it a little depth. I have bought this, not sure whether it will be a grower or an experiment I will regret as it is very different to my other fragrances. Time will tell.

jadetrail51

This comes across as ferel verging on putrid on me. I'm sure it smells wonderful, if you have the chemistry to collide with it. This is a reminder to me to not blind purchase, even though all the notes that this is composed of has worked for me in the past. This actually made me sick.

Anna_gr

Thank you Adiro (my Hermes fairy) for giving me a decant of it.
I love it! Imagine receiving a Hermes leather purse, very classy and beautiful, and when you open it there are many rose petals inside...
I wouldn't decline a present like this.
Will definitely purchase full bottle of this fragrance (unfortunately their purses are too expensive for me :) )

LADYELLE

This fragrance is for spring/summer day time use. I have the perfume which is long lasting until the next day. I wear it going to special day time functions

Happyme2009

This is for sure an empowering scent! It oozes elegance and power, in a soft way. The rose and leather are predominant, and the combination is anything but pink! Uplifting and strange, the scent gives the impression of confidence, the perfect interpretation of a woman that is not afraid to be soft and feminine in the right company, or domineering and strong when in a crowd. Absolutely unique! Another masterpiece by Hermes, which along with Eau de Merveilles and others, could easily pass as unisex, yet they are distinctively charming on the right woman. Not for little girls, but rather for ladies that know what they want from life and are not afraid to stand out. I love it, even though I am not normally crazy about leather scents. This is a more feminine and refined interpretation of Bandit, more sensual and curvy.

Helsinki

Kelly Calèche, an individual born legend.

It was a year ago when I first heard of Kelly and its reputation: Those who had encountered it, praised it and said that it possesses animalistic, alluring and noble qualities.

After an ebay deal gone wrong, my first encounter with Kelly Calèche was - finally - in Athens. My dreams of smelling Ultrared, Narciso for her, L de Lolita Lempicka and others had already come true at a local store and my nose was getting tired, but there was one left to test: Kelly. Couldn't resist its magnetism.

Closing my eyes and inhaling, there was suddenly a majestic and calm brown horse beside me. The perfume took me into another world in a heartbeat. I could almost hear the sound of bees and flies and smell the warm hay and sheep and sense the countryside's peace. I opened my eyes, the illusion escaped, and was brought back to the city of concrete jungle and honking horns.

This perfume would make a great match for a young, distant, aristocratic miss.
Since I'm a loyal friend of slightly eccentric, perverse and unusual leather scents, it's a pleasure to give Kelly a five-star rating.

rezalon

bought this for my wife thinking that it would be something spectacular. unfortunately, had a horrible chemical scent that would not go away. really nasty stuff. not a leather dry down, but a potent bitter strong flavour that you would not want to smell on your worst enemy! promptly returned and skin scrubbed multiple times to get it off! surprised given that hermes usually makes some really nice stuff.

GracedeMonaco

I simply adore this attempt from Hermes as a tribute to the timeless perfection of the late Princess of Monaco. It seems I tend to pick up the Leather note rather quickly and I LIKE that! It's an "ice-queen" type of classy fragrance that you can't imagine just anyone wearing. It reminds me a bit of Todd Oldham (from the mid 90's)...another scent with what smells like that sharp (at first) leather note. It's got MY vote...2 thumbs up!

mseidoom

Opens with a citrusy-grapefruit aroma, then that goes away a bit. There's an "odd" note that won't go away, which I believe must be the leather in this scent. I can take the citrus starting strong but if that weird note wasn't there I could have really liked the fragrance on a whole. The lasting power was pretty good.

Belle de la nuit

Kelly Caleche is the woman I have always wanted to grow up and be, decisive, confident, aristocratic, used to finer things but also talented in her own right.

The perfume is cold, aloof and windswept - at first. Later upon getting to know her, she is strong, alive and beautiful but the best part of all is that she just doesn't care. The leather note is consistent throughout but it is a gentle leather, softened by a natural sweetness, owing I suppose, to the rose, violet and vanilla but allow me to add that I also get a minty waft of something uttterly delicious as Kelly Caleche reaches its final evolutionary stage. It is by all means a real living perfume, not synthetic in the least and has an incredible lasting power.

When worn it leaves me with the impression of someone who is comfortable, mysterious and powerful, the sublime heiress to a great kingdom...

efm

I agree with Julia and her liking the fragrance to sheep. I found an unpleasant animalistic note, I was most reminded of cooked lamb.

I love the original Caleche, it is one of my all time favorites so I was disappointed with the Kelly. I wear Bandit and Montana so am not afraid of leather or unconventional scents.

Furthermore,I understand that I am not in the 20 - 25yrs demographic the marketers have targeted but I wonder does any woman really want to smell like a butchers shop ?

I own 4 other Hermes scents, I will stay with them and leave Kelly to those who admire it.
As I find it hard to believe that the House could get it so wrong, it may be a matter of body chemistry. I advise try before you buy.

Iulia

It's indeed very original, but I would never wear it.First I just thought it smelled like a leather bag with some citrusy cocktail spilled over it, but after a while, all that I could smell was an animal skin (sheep). No matter how much I like them, I don't want to smell like a sheep:D...

mymlan

This edp is a stunning gem! I agree with Robert though, that it has citrusy top notes. I can't really believe that the notes above are complete. A further investigation will be needed. I cannot make up my mind what I like most about KC. The rose in the heart supported by the sweet violet, or the milky sweet suede drydown? Maybe the truth is just in between? Unfortunately I can't wear Kelly Caleche. I got a rash in my face when I tested it. Especially around my nose. It looked really funny even if it wasn't. Still I highly recommend it as a classy day wear.

Robert White

Strange...am I the only one who smells the green notes in this? The top is a vague citrus-y thing, changing almost immediately into a strong tomato-stem note. I like the vegetable note in perfumes like this and L'Artisan's Piment Brulant. Then this settles down into a soft, powdery leather that seems to bear no relation to its vegetal top. As Lucan Turin says, this is two perfumes in one. I like the top notes better, and would have preferred this if it had been a linear perfume. Still, very good, and well worth buying.

Adiro

I tried it several times before buying, because of its price. It is absolutely wonderful!!!
For the first minutes, it opens with a smell of red berries, sugar, even chocolate. It is the same kind of sweetness like in Elixir de Merveilles versus Eau de M. A sweetness of fruits in heavy syrup, but in Elixir the fruits are candied citrus peel.
In the middle and base notes, the fruits are gone, and the perfume becomes soft lather and flowers, with a touch of vanilla, but the leather is special, it's actually suede. It's velvety and soft, like the softest creamiest chamois. It makes me think exactly of a piece of chamois used to blend pastels. The perfume is contiguous in my mind with the colors of the sky at down. Pinks, oranges, yellows over blue. Like the sky in early morning, the perfumes becomes brighter as times passes.
On a less positive note, its projection is quiet and soft, not much noticed. Lasting power on my skin is not very good, but then none of the Hermes perfumes ( that I tried) last very well on me.

I may have been too long winded here, but in summary the perfume is wonderful, classy, unique, romantic, soft and a great pleasure to own and wear.

Biliana

My favorite fragrance of all time.
So delicate, tender, warm, and different. I could never give it up.

P.S. Sorry, Allure.

hathor

oh dear!! i think i must have tried the eau de parfum, because my first impression was a very overpowering leather smell reminiscent of old horse saddles. i think i was surprised by this because i expected another sickly sweet pink smell to match the colour of the perfume. i had a squirt of this at the airport on my way to italy, and had to suffer it for the rest of my journey. after a while i noticed some roses but the most dominant note remained leather. i really did smell like an old sheep. i will try it again sometime, perhaps it's just an acquired taste. but i am relieved to smell something original with a bit of character which stands out from the crowd of pink sweetness which i'm tired of.ps, i'm summing this up with a picture of an old sheep with a rather dirty bottom blundering it's way through a rose garden!!

Miss_Nightingale

A light, frankly uninteresting opening left me wondering why anyone would actively reach for this to spray on any given day. It began as a watery, vaguely citrus-tinged floral that did nothing for me at all... and yet I stayed with it, fighting with my preconceptions and giving it time to mature on the skin.

I'm SO glad I did have patience - the eventual drydown is really lovely. A very milky, slightly sour vanilla (which I know sounds horrid, but is actually fabulous to experience) mingles with the mimosa and jasmine to become quite flirtatious and subtly sexy. The leather is expensive smelling and sweet, the butter-soft leather of a vintage pair of gloves, seemingly delicate yet ultimately hard-wearing.

Staying power is very good, I sprayed this on first thing this morning and the drydown notes are still blooming on my skin some 13 hours later.

Perhaps I am not enamoured with this enough to purchase a bottle, but it's certainly worth trying and a fantastic payoff if you can be bothered waiting. It's like sitting through a quite dull but pretty looking film just to get to the emotionally charged ending. How I wish for a fast-forward button!
