Lovely one. I am very picky when it comes to rose fragrances, but this one really impressed me. It's a sexy and still non-overpowering rose I can see worn both during the day and night. I also get some fresh notes, musk and patchouli and I just love how it's blended together.

robertambark

My nose didn't really identify the rose notes, for me personally this is more of a fresh scent with flowers and pear. Slightly different variation of a clean girl scent, I do like this a lot.

rubycathryn

Every day I tell myself I don't like rose fragrances (some subconscious self-denial? I'll have to ask my therapist), and every time I encounter a new one I love it. I also hate patchouli almost universally, but here we are. Maybe I can't trust my own tastes. This is outstanding, robustly feminine but not girly at all. This chick has it together. Very power suit, very rooftop glass of wine with work colleagues, very the hottest woman you've ever seen going grey. Intimate as JHAG is, but without the 'skin' note I despise in the original not a perfume.

TatianaChoco

The beginning reminds me Agent Provocateur, but it stays just one hour on my skin. And it doesn't smell nice, it is powdery and it doesn't smell like a rose.

Yasminister

This is a beautiful, feminine fragrance. It’s very smooth and a instantly appealing. It can layered with lighter, fruitier florals that aren’t punchy enough by themselves. It is a definite compliment getter!

IronOrchid

Sharp but sickly, like spilt ink. Don't get patchouli at all. Smells like violets somehow. Long-lasting, but got tired of the smell quickly. Definitely outstays it's welcome.

LiaJet2000

This has a very sweet rose that is too overpowering for my tastes
The patchouli and geranium soften it a little, and the vanilla adds texture, but overall it's just too strong
I can see this being popular with young teenage girls who like their beastmode scents, but for me it attracts too much of the wrong attention
I can imagine people on the train complaining about this scent and moving seats

Heliodora

This is a beautiful, powerful and seductive rose patchouli scent with a warm ambroxan drydown.

Now in the opening and in the bottle cap, unfortunately this does not give a great first impression, because it's a very sharp bergamot-forward note, which is not very pleasant and does kind of remind me of cleaning products. But on skin, this really transforms into something very feminine, but cold at the same time. Lavender and rose mixed with patchouli; beautiful, but stand-offish. Then after some time in the drydown, it becomes a little sweet and warm, mostly from the ambroxan, but i get a little bit of vanilla too. I can see how the ambroxan may seem a little unnatural to some, it does often bother me in fragrances too, but here it is well blended and feels just right.

Projection and longevity and really good (but not absolute beast mode). It's probably not office appropriate, because some of these notes could come off as cloying to people, but for dates or special occassions, it'll be a stunner.

clumsylunch

On initial smell, this is quite French and aldehydic to me. I do get the comparisons to Agent Provocateur (but only initially, don't kill me, I much prefer AP). I've had several compliments upon wearing it. My main disappointment is its complexity on initial spray doesn't last and it dries down into quite a generic rose floral, it loses its bite and spiciness. It's definitely one for people who like BIG fragrances, it's bold and it's alluring, but it's also quite boring and I expected far more given its price point.

eva.daisy.88

Very intense unlikeable rose. It really has an artificial quality that I cannot enjoy.

Pipfumista

Like death and roses. For me this conjures up images of roses in a cemetery. Absolute rose powerhouse. If, like me, you are a bit poetic/romantic/goth then you'll probably love it. My only issue is that my skin tends to gobble up most perfume so I end up overspraying perfumes like this one. However I do want a full sized bottle and I want it now!

Indignatious83

I love rose so I was surprised to really, REALLY dislike this. There's no nuance here. To me, it was an artifical, slightly industrial rose smell - like a candle or room freshener. Nothing like the actual plant or flower. It irritated me enough that I washed it off ....and washed it off....and washed it off. Points for how long this one sticks around - I couldn't seem to get rid of it.

bjorksattorney

Sprayed this on this morning thinking it was a sample of DiptyqueTubereuse--nasty surprise. Confirmed that I absolutely hate this. I love rose. I like patchouli. This is the only rose fragrance I've truly hated. It doesn't smell like rose to me--extremely astringent. Not just "clean"--like cleaning fluid. Took off the shirt I sprayed it onto because I found it so unpleasant to smell myself.

marietangerine

This is a nice clean modern chypre. I get a lot of the iso e super, ambroxan, patchouli and rose. The “clean” feel comes from the bergamot and lavender I think. This is a bright floral musk with an understated green earthy base. Moderate projection, maybe not for tight offices or people that are sensitive to anything “mature” leaning (this is modern imo, but all chypre fragrances have a classic feel).

steelfeet

I love this perfume so much. It smells fresh and cool and a little bitter. I think this works for day or night, and I wear it as an everyday perfume. However, I can see how it wouldn't be for everyone -- the rose and patchouli are pretty intense.

telephonepoledancer

A velvety rose falling through a tunnel of soft black leather. A dark alleyway in perpetual darkness, where victims can be heard in orgasmic pleasure. She is pale with goosebumps like suede and her eyes are holes into the abyss. She has a tongue like a razor. Guts twist in excitement at her horror. She is a Japanese switch blade in an evil city held by shiny pink nails. A well of darkness, as sensual as can be. A city of only night time, rose petals fallen on mangled bodies. The perfect lipstick, so it has to be cursed.

FruityPatchouli

This fragrance feels dark and dry to me. Like earthy patchouli and dead, dried up rose petals with a touch of lavender. I absolutely love it. I find myself smelling it out of the atomizer just for joy. I tend to wear it during the fall when the air gets a touch chilly and crisp and the leaves are crunching under my feet. It is the most beautiful during these times. I know not everyone seems to feel this way. Lots of mixed reviews, but my travel spray of LV makes me happy. Sometimes when I get a full bottle of JHAG fragrances I find that the longevity isn’t there like it is in the travel spray or sample.. so I’m a bit scared to buy a bottle, but I’ll have to when I run out.

cookygirl

I have a love-hate relationship with this.
On the one hand, it's practically the only scent (other than Vanilla Vibes) from this house that I can actually wear.
In nearly all the JHAG scents that I've tried, the ambroxan reads very metallic, harsh and unpleasant on my skin. In this scent that aspect of the ambroxan is less detectable.
Lady vengeance also includes several notes that are fixtures on my dislike list: geranium, lavender, ISO-E Super, and patchouli.
Nevertheless, the very dominant double rose note in Lady Vengeance is beautiful: dark, witchy and gothic to my nose.
I find it oddly compelling despite the fact that it also smells very mature to me (and I'm no spring chicken myself..).
I will see how I feel about this scent once I've gone through the sample. I have a feeling it's going to be an interesting ride....

Cyanikra

All i can smell is patchouli, lavender, and woody note. I can’t smell any floral or the vanilla. Very medicinal on me. Another blind buy, wishing it would be something floral musky and spicy. Shame, great fragrance but just not for me

leahlzander

Patchouli is my death note, but it was so well done in this fragrance -- earthy, mossy, slightly mentholic -- that I took a moment to admire it before scrubbing it off my wrist. No shade to Lady Vengeance; she's a beauty, but not for me.

lillirighter

I love the cozy depth this perfume has and that it's not too overpowering floral (i am a floral hater), but I find that the middle ground it ends up in is... completely generic. It's like the platonic ideal of perfume and I wish it were a little more exciting, like a fresher ozonic note or something?

LaUna

Pleasant surprise. Packaged as edgy, however scent is quite opposite for me. I read the notes, Rose, Geranium and Lavender (these are excellent combos) and soft musk. Very balmy, creamy, soft perfume. Everyday perfume and safe wear. Baby scent, grandma can wear it, well I'm neither, but I love it! It does have nostalgic vintage appeal, in a gentle way. Wish it lasted longer on me, my tester strip is still holding up in my purse 2 days later and it smells angelic :)

sanasanada

Beautiful, classic gothic vibe rose. I love this. Feels like a vampire lady who lives in an old abandoned castle with full of scarlet roses

89.scents

There’s something very off putting and sharp about this. Maybe it’s the ISO-super x geranium. Smells like witch hazel or astringent.

Sajawa

I love rose, I love oud and I love Patchouli. I thought I would find this scent comforting but I found it weirdly cold. It definitely has a sexy/ night time vibe. Sort of dirty. I think the name suits it. Maybe like a lady who loves you then leaves you. Unfortunately it really affected my breathing and I couldn’t wear it at all. In the end unsure how I felt about it and gave it away.

vargadorkaluca

This is the most beautiful rose fragrance...for about half an hour while it lasts.
Than I am left with Iso E Super and musk for the rest of the day.
I keep reapplying because I love the rose so much in this and hoping it would stay longer.
I sprayed it on clothes too, the rose stays a little bit longer than on skin, but still not enough for me to get a full bottle. Will use up my sample and keep looking for the my rose fragrance.

Jemmcy

I love this soft and woody rose with a clear base of musk. Really cozy yet refined! One of my everyday go-to fragrances for the office and for home:

rostochek

для меня это запах ладана с миррой, как он пахнет в коробочке, до возжигания: теплый, пудровый.

Peaches77

I’m not a fan of this. The rose is overpowering and with the musk and patchouli it smells like an old lady to me.

Top notes are Lavender and Bergamot; middle notes are Bulgarian Rose, Moroccan Rose, Patchouli, Iso E Super and Geranium; base notes are White Musk, Ambroxan and Vanilla.

Elcee

Not a fan, patchouli and geranium only on my skin. Far too astringent and headach inducing. Sadly no rose or lavender at all.

vamppixie

I so badly wanted to love this fragrance but legit all I get from it is overwhelming old lady rose. Nothing else, maybe a hint of musk. Really disappointed but at least I only bought the travel size:/

Mona708

I got the chance to retest it from a sample; this time, I like it somewhat better. I got no lavender, but a healthy dose of bergamot, powdery rose, and deep earthy patchouli. It’s closer to Agent Provocateur than I expected it to be. I could see it working as a cooler weather scent for casual wear, but I don’t imagine myself buying a full bottle anytime soon. It does make me want to try out Lady Vengeance Extreme if I get hold of a tester or some samples.

msudersin

I love rose forward scents and I was hoping this would be another one to add to my collection but this quickly turns “old woman scent” to me.

It’s a no from me!

Snob Smells

I am rose lover through and through....9 times out of 10 if it has a rose dominant profile, I'm going to enjoy it.

Lady Vengeance meets this criteria. Aromatic, chilly..slightly soapy and green. This is not fruity ...nor is it sweet ....but it is sexy, grown-woman and highly feminine.

Definitely exudes Femme Fatale vibes...IDK why but I associate this scent profile with something Charlize Theron's character would wear in Atomic Blonde!

Juno27

This is definitely a disappointing fragrance on me but fortunately it doesn't last long . The initial sharp geranium/lavender seems to remain and there is no dry down to anything warmer and more subtle. It has a harsh acidic side to it which appears to be predominant. The only word I can find to describe its over all impression is "cheap". I doubt I shall be wearing this one again.

BellaBabaroga

I don't own this frag but my mom wears it religiously and gets tons of compliments.

My opinion as a 26 year old woman who still prefers fruity, juicy, zesty, creamy scents: Lady Vengeance smells a bit oldschool to me (I'm very sensitive to rose scents). It has a gothic/rich/sensual feel to it though.

Here's my mom's opinion (she forced me to post this😂): "Biggest fan of this fragrance since a decade and it's my signature scent. Lady Vengeance is my favorite flanker from this line and Vengeance extreme is my least favorite. It's works SO well with my body chemistry and I wear it all year round. The simplest way to describe it is *sensual rich floral with a zesty opening*.

LSAUG

This starts off promising. I get the rose and the lavender but as it goes along it becomes very geranium forward, not that that is a bad thing but it smells very close to some all natural bug repellents that I use when bird watching. And then as it dries down the ambroxan just takes over and it becomes metallic. This becomes a Mancera or Montale rose scent w/ out all the sweetness. Metallic rose/geranium in the dry down. Starts promising, finishes poorly.

Babey

To my nose it opens up with a fresh rose water smell, typical of the morrocan rose, boosted with the bergamot and a hint of lavender then it's like the rose bouquet dries up and the flowers die in a beautiful dusty woody way.
I find it very unisexe with the ambroxan and the iso e super. It lasts greatly on my skin and projects very well the first 3 hours. All year round and can be adapted to different settings.

toosimilar

It's really cute "cold" rose smell, but... not lasting...
Kurkdjian has created a good thing, but this brand is not famous for long lasting perfumes
Unfortunately

Lukari13

I was looking for a realistic rose perfume for my collection and this is it! It smells just like garden fresh roses in the spring! It’s a really beautiful and feminine floral scent. I find that with most JHAG fragrances a little goes a long way, and the lasting power is pretty significant. For me, the notes are simply a powdery rose with some hints of musk and patchouli, and that’s all I can really smell. I normally don’t like powdery scents because they tend to smell old lady-ish to me, but the powdery note in this perfume is so subtle that it works very well with the rose. Overall, I’d recommend this to my fellow floral fragrance lovers.

LulaValentine

I was nervous but I’m so happy I took the leap and blind bought this!

It’s so beautiful. For the first 3 seconds it smells a little “old lady” to my nose but it goes away almost instantly before my nose can even investigate further.

The rose and woodiness work so wonderfully together. I pick up light hints of lavender here and there as well.

This is also a great compliment getter for me. Everyone I’ve spoken to since I applied it has complimented my scent and asked what I’m wearing.

I guess I really am a true rose lover.

AlexandraRoseD

Opens with a very realistic rose, but the drydown is synthetic and rough with a very weak rose smell after two hours.

Reminds me of A la Rose by MFK, but no wonder as it is the same parfumier (the later is better in my opinion).

Too much ambroxan / Iso E, that triggeres a headache.

I'll pass this one.

============

Update: gave it a last chance six months after buying, and before passing my decant.

I am now pleasantly surprised! The rose transformed into a delicate but potent rose, smells very nice!

greenelf

I have to admit---overpriced niche fragrances always get me with the names!! I recently joined a scent club at one of the online fragrance sites and finally got a purse size of Lady Vengeance--the perfect name for my mindset after the last 6 years!! A friend of mine had given me samples of 2 JHAG scents--Another Oud and Not a Perfume--and neither of them did much for me, I'm afraid. But--this one hits hard! I love the kind of vinegar-y rose note in this scent--and the slight green from the geranium--I don't even hate the Ambroxen or however it's spelled, even though I found it gross in NAP---the patch/vanilla accord is something I've only warmed up to post-menopause--( Make of that what you will!) and it works really well with this snarky rose. This one IS clearly neo-vintage and it's been driving me nuts trying to figure out what it reminds me of--two scents come to mind---Yves Rocher's Comme Un Evidence EDP and Pierre Cardin's Rose Cardin--the most extreme rose scent I've ever worn--and I used to work for Perfumer's Workshop and sold TEA ROSE!! This is fall/winter stuff for sure--and maybe I only like it because I'm "An old lady"----but the young women who post age-ist crap like that here, will one day be ( if they are LUCKY) surprised to find that scents they loved when they were girls don't work well on them when they are dragging rather than pushing 50 and that scents they used to find loud or pushy or "granny-ish" work way better on them now. Your tastes change--and so will your skin--trust me!! However--unless I can find a cheap rollerbball of this one, I probably won't buy a bigger bottle of LV--it's just too expensive and I'm on a fixed income now!!

Katchke

Did not like the initial very strong blast of lingering alcohol on me, but as it dries down this becomes a very pleasant, sensual smell! It reminds me a LOT of Byredo's Rose Noir, on me I could really smell the light rosy background that supports the stronger drier/woodier middle notes. Vanilla is a surprisingly nice undertone that appeared unexpectedly and made the whole smell a lot softer. Def an evening or night perfume for me. Admittedly, I don't think I would have been able to identify the notes without looking them up but still a lovely and relatively long lasting scent :)

lmnsvgz

Earthy rose. Very typical chypre scent, a bit heavy to my nose, but definitely smells classy and elevated.

poodleParty

The name/bottle doesn't match the fragrance at all! I'm sure I'm not the only person who feels this way. This is an ultra-feminine rose fragrance. The rose here is not sweet. It's more like a dried bouquet of rose.

I might pick up a bottle, because I do really like it. It's not too heavy, but not too light either.
-
Edit: The drydown was really horrible on my skin. I was left with sharp lavender with some synthetic vanilla note. Too bad :(

yebramarisol

Por desgracia, en mi piel sólo puedo oler un áspero pachuli que no desaparece ni con el lavado.

Ilikewhatilike

I’m generally a fan of Francis Kurkdjian’s work, and this is no exemption. A bright and modern version of the rose+patchouli-musk combination. If this combo was yin and yang.

Yin - Lady Vengence - bergamot, germanium, iso-e and ambroxan create a bright and modern.

Yang - POAL - incense, spices and woods with more depth and brooding nature.

Both are high quality and natural smelling to my nose. Very different price points and positioning, but both created by master perfumers.

lilykings

I hate iso e super. I hate ambroxan. I hate rose as a dominant note. I have somehow also fallen in love with this. The combo of all of my hates turns out to be a love, idk how idk why but it works! Very clean and fresh, definitely a good work pick or out for bunch. It’s light and airy but still packs a punch without overwhelming you with rose.

silverlocusts

I thought I'd used up my small spray samples, but I re-discovered a full one in my stash. What a happy surprise! Lady Vengeance is not my favorite by any means, but it is quite evocative of a certain mood. If I want to feel a little badass, this is what I would reach for. It is more patchouli than rose on my skin, so I do not think it is all that similar to something like Eau Capital, which is rose with patchouli. See the distinction? In LV the patchouli, paired with the musky ambroxan, is the star of the show, and the somewhat jammy rose is the backup singer. I like both of these so I am not mad, but I prefer a more naturalistic rose, and I believe that is what keeps LV from being a love for me. I do like it though, so when the sample runs out I would consider adding a large decant or travel spray to my collection just because the patchouli-forwardness is still pretty unique. I think FB of JHAG perfumes are way overpriced, and that would keep me from making a larger purchase. I think for most this is a safe-but-somewhat-edgy scent that could be easily worn year round in scent-friendly environments. I gotta try Vengeance Extreme next though, I bet that one is cray.

dglightblue

I think this feels a bit aldehydic and animalistic musky- not dirty or poopy, but warm ish... not the cool and clean kind od sjp or narciso..
The patch here is quite subtle, there could be an earthy feel though it's slight, powder hasn't reared its head yet as in does in Lady, though this scent has an overall smooth and rounded feel, it is not super heavy though has a dense feel as opposed to airy..

Lady which I have tested more than once, feels overall more powdery, pretty, patch gentle, Vengeance feels warmer slightly, muskier. Both scents are rosey; not the dry kind like in Chloe, nor the wet fresh kind, more of a rose oil..

Will edit with drydown

dglightblue

Very thick, strong, rose, dry, I actually want to test it alsonsiede the Vengeance extreme. I thought this was too strong but it mellows out and looses the heaviness. The patch isn't dirty.

Quite similar to agent provocateur

Now after several hours I think it's pretty.
Powdery, rosey, green but not grassy, rounded - a bit like narciso..
This doesn't have the musk element which narciso does, nor the 'coldness'

joikgirl

THIS IS ROSE. A LOT. But If you play with your nose a little you get that lavender in there. It dries down to bergamot and patchouli. Not a favourite one but not worst either.

morfnou

That is one huge-a** rose. Almost soliflore on my skin. One of my favourite roses.

Anna7537

I bought JHaG sample set and was eager to try this because of its stellar reputation. My disappointment could not be bigger. Lady Vengeance is weak and watery, it starts with synthetic lavender and dries down to a sharp punch of patchouli that reminds me very much of Lush Karma. I can’t find roses from this at all, instead the JHaG dna is strong so if you like iso-e and ambroxan then this might be for you. This frangrance does not live up to its grandieuse name; it is like Selina Kyle before Catwoman, or a bookkeeper doing a practical joke.

supertrèsor

I'm genuinely wondering whether I have the same perfume that others have when reading these reviews. To me it is surprising that people would describe it as a day time, office-appropriate fragrance because to me 1) it is so enormous and 2) it is so woody and mysterious that I would only wear the smallest dab of it in an office. Before reading about its notes I would never have even thought to describe it as a predominantly rose fragrance. How interesting. This perfume is very intriguing and when I smell it on someone else I know immediately we are kindred spirits. Vetiver and cedar come through very strongly for me via Iso e super I suppose. My only qualm is its a little too pricey. It is also interesting to me that when I explored this house further I came upon so many dead ends. To me JHAG *is* Lady Vengeance, everything else is noise.

rezzmail

I think this house has proven to me that while they can formulate some gorgeous long lasting scents, they're nothing that I find that I could finish if given a full bottle or even a travel. Lady Vengeance and Madame Madness are practically one in the same as they're watery, herbal roses. But to call LV dark? Or even particularly deep is a bit much. There's not much depth here and seeing how wide the range of rose scents are in Sephora alone makes this simply underwhelming.

Nocciola23

I love rose perfumes and was so so excited to try this one, having heard that it might be a good replacement for my beloved Stella McCartney EDP which is discontinued.
Unfortunately I can't get behind iso e super. It just ruins it for me and makes it smell like mosquito repellent. The rose is here is nice, but so powdery that it reminds me of old lady talcum powder.

Annelieva

I dislike this very much. It’s definitely giving old granny vibes. I don’t get the hype of Juliette’s got a gun at all! I think most of the brands perfumes are generic and horrible. I thought I’d like this one because it’s created by Francis Kurkdjian and it got some of my favorite notes, patchouli, rose and bergamot, but no! I’m actually a bit shocked about how bad it is.

Lucky notes

This isn't the worst JHAG scent. It has a stunning ambery rose scent which is a delight for ~20 mins on my skin, typical of the kurkdjian masterpieces I know and love. Then unfortunately, the rank JHAG DNA comes through. I love ambroxin, but this is cheap and nasty like seasalt mixed with catfood

The brand is 'hot' marketing and 'not' substance. It's a nice blend in cheap JHAG chemicals. It probably smells nice on some so enjoy this if it does, lucky you.

DariaFrancesca74

Lady Vengeance by Juliette Has A Gun is a creation of master Francis Kurkdjian, a hyper feminine fragrance. The Bulgarian rose is the maximum protagonist of this sensual fragrance, a rose that rises supreme immediately after the citrusy opening notes of bergamot and fresh lavender. Patchouli and geranium notes frame the temper of the rose which re-emerges from the reassuring envelopment of white musk and the sweetness of vanilla. A fragrance that is supposed to embody the female desire for revenge…but actually leaves little credible margin to this attitude. Unfortunately it doesn't hold up well on my skin.

jeremeryfragrance

one of the best rose scents. not grandma and church rose but a complex and heavy fragrance. not for everyone defiantly a niche scent not everyone looks for.

SmellLush

I bought this last Christmas and apparently was in love with it at the time and then I haven’t worn it that much and then just thought the other night to spray it on to go to the gym because I’m one of those people that wants to smell good at all times. I forgot how much I actually really love it it’s like a going out fragrance to me like a night fragrance with high energy. I apparently tend to love rose and patchouli perfumes. This one is different from any of the other ones that I have or have smelt it kind of smells like a mixed drink in a away but not a froufrou super sugary one. Has a sparkling vibe to it almost kind of has like a ginger tinge to it as well. I had gotten a discovery kit and I also own Musc by this brand which I love and is in no way related to this one. Some of hers I find to be a little too synthetic But this one is still nice and definitely gave me an energizing vibe for the gym. Pretty long lasting as well.

wyrdlam

I dislike this one, which is such a disappointment. On paper, the notes sound beautiful, and I was hoping to be impressed with a name like Lady Vengeance. Sadly, I’ve tried wearing it many times, but each time I end up eagerly waiting for it to fade off.

The opening smells synthetic and almost fuzzy. Maybe it’s the iso e super or ambroxan coming through, but it’s my least favorite part, especially the way it mingles with the lavender. After a half hour or so, the rose becomes more prominent and the overall scent becomes a soapy, musky rose. I wish the vanilla played a larger role because I hardly detect it at all.

This one is not for me, but it’s worth a try if you’re looking for rose and musk x

femmefumes

I smell geranium and I don't think I like that note. Looking at the listed notes I can't tell what's making this so unpleasant. The lavender + rose combo perhaps? Then again I'd still wear it over some others I own.

o.b.e.y

Too much sweet vanilla for me overpowers everything else

Kekekie

I loved this fragrance! The only problem is something in the fragrance give me headhaches. It seams all my perfums heavy on rose give me headaches and nausea. Not sure if it is the White Musk they all seem to contain that I am not able to deal with but same thing for Chloé, and Coco Mademoiselle.

Msdekay

Quite strong and long lasting; there is a familiarity about it that’s comforting. Reminds me of the original Paloma Picasso.

brennaimogen

It’s a gorgeous, mature rose scent with a musk dry down.
I can see this being reached for if you’re going to a more formal event. Not really an everyday office type of thing unless you’re going for that sort of “femme fatale” feeling.
The performance could be better but that goes for all JHAG fragrances.

ATPerfume

The smell is good. Francis Kurkdjian as the perfumer and it inherits the metallic vibes from his self titled brand.
Roses and Patchouli are a fierce combo as but the subpar performance makes that irrelevant. It is a skin scent from the get go. I believe it was made so to introduce the Extreme version.
However coming to think of it JHAG was never known for the performance. Another surprise was the bottle, how did they fit 100ml of juice into this 30ml looking bottle?
Anyways get it at a discounted price. The smell is good and it’s quite unique, but not worth the 120€.

Lady Vengeance by Juliette Has A Gun was one of my very first Fragrantica reviews way back in 2011. I thought today to review it again because I had a sample and wore it today... noticed a more prominent vanilla than I ever had before! I had always considered LV to be a cold, aloof, goth rose. Lots of patchouli and rose that dries down to a silky musk. But I had never noticed in my previous wearings the undercurrent of warm gourmand vanilla. It's like a magic trick, weaving in and out of the scent at various intervals throughout the day. It's a very kind, "come into my gingerbread house" type scent but when you try to get a better sniff it sneaks away back to the thorny rose bush that is 99% of the scent. Very interesting. Anyway, I chose it for this morning because I have to deal with an unpleasant person and it gives me a badass edge that is so necessary. Vengeance is mine!

smellssmelly

Too much rose, smells very mature

Stoicchild

Nice scent, but this perfume house makes weak perfumes. Not worth the price.

Lykopa

This is like a soapy old lady rose. The lavender does not compliment it at all. There is an almost stifling quality to it. I get the appeal on the drydown, but it still remains a very cloying, clean smelling but not clean feeling scent for me.

rainydays

This is a nice rose fragrance... I really liked the lavender top notes and the patchouli and the ambroxan alongside the rose. The name is very misleading. "Lady vengeance" made me think this would be alluring, dark, and mysterious. But this is a soft, pretty, feminine floral that has enough depth to be worn in all seasons. I do like this-- it was just unexpected.

CheesyGarlicBread

I hated jhag vanilla vibes. Glad I tried another offering from this house.Watery, slightly soapy rose. Not sweet- but juicy and squarely unisex. It isn't until the dry down that I get the barest hint of vanilla/patch/musk. The dry down is the best part and if it had a personality- kind of a moody, sophisticated, aloof person. If you like the musk of Narciso R, you'll appreciate this fragrance. The first hour is pretty loud with the top and mid notes. I think I'm going to really enjoy my sample. Office friendly, all seasons, day time use.

emerald drops

Let me just start by saying I hate rose fragrances. Rose is a fragrance note I usually AVOID. I got a decant of this yesterday. My first thought was: Is this a f***ing rose fragrance? 30 seconds later I fell in love. Like, actually considering getting a full bottle. Someone in the comments below said this is "a rose for the woman not fond of floral" and it's so true, for me, at least. It's floral, don't get me wrong. But I like it. It reminds me of Lancome Idole a little bit on me? Lancome Idole is the only "rose" fragrance i ever liked, but it's so common where I live and that's not something I'm after.

Perpetual Collector

My absolute favorite perfume on this planet is Agent Provocateur, and it is my most complimented as well. I can not possibly imagine more perfect rose perfume than AP, even though i have been searching for something to outshine it. So far no luck, AP is the absolute winner when it comes to dirty, sexy roses, bottled. Last night i was researching stuff on Fragrantica and noticed the comparison of JHAG Lady V and Mad Madame to AP. Realizing i actually have both of these perfumes, i decided to test them and see if any of them can beat my beloved AP.
So, after testing the Mad Madame and being absolutely repulsed by the bug spray likeness of it, i went onto Lady Vengeance. On the first spray, i am thinking i like it...Once again, zero similarity to AP (people really need to have their noses inspected), but as a stand alone rose fume it is not that bad. Zero wow factor, but it is completely wearable, if one had to; still, there are far better rose creations out there, and quite possibly far better JHAG fumes as well.
Contrary to Mad Madame, LV washed out in the shower some, and i am left with quite a pleasant, faint skin scent on my forearm, which slightly resembles a moisturizing lotion. Nothing dirty or sexy here, AP remains unbeatable for me.
Edit:
OMG, 48 people said that Lady Vengeance smells like POAL. Are you serious, the lot of you?

likesleet

not the right name i'm afraid. didn't smell like much: very musky

SmokeyLady

There are only a few niche brands that I like thanks to the facts there aren't many places to try them in my city and when I do get a chance salesladies 'attack me' with tester after tester so I don't get a chance to try what I want after all smells mix . I know it is not their fault but stores policy.
But this particular fragnance stayed in my memory. This is my favorite rose fragrance. I love ambroxan and glad patchouli is not in the base notes. Definitely for a dark avenger or femme fatal on a mission. I always end up liking fragrances that don't fit my personality. It stays on my skin very long which rarely happens since I have dry skin.

violeteme

That drydown is to die for, similar to Narcisos, but richer and warmer. I don't know if it's me or it really happened, but I feel like this perfume changed a bit, at least the first stages. It used to smell deeper. But I just love that musky, creamy, fluffy end of it so much, the roses, the musk, the patchouli, the touch of vanilla are all so beautiful together. +

Full disclosure: this review is going to be bad. This is my personal experience and if you love this perfume, I'm happy for you!

This was the single most horrible perfume I have ever smelled. I was excited to find this at Ross for $50 and after some internal argument which I won... I decided to shell out the $$ for my first "really nice designer" perfume.

The packaging was super nice and the bottle was one of the nicest I have come across. I was so excited to spray this on my skin!!

It was so horrible. Immediately my nose stung from the smell. Not great. But I wanted to wait for more of the notes to develop. It never happened. All I could smell was the initial scent for the hours I had it on my skin, hoping it would change. To my detriment.

I had an allergic reaction. Completely stuffed up my nose, gave me a headache, and I was nauseous. This was the worst allergic reaction I've ever had. I avoided perfumes for YEARS, DECADES, because I thought I was allergic to perfume because I would have reactions similar to this with the few perfumes I ever came in contact with. I grew up in a super small family and my grandma was the only one who even had perfumes; coincidentally, she must have had perfumes I had reactions to...

It smells like musky men's aftershave x100.
Like bug spray chemicals.
Like Grandma's perfume on steroids.

It's possible I got a bad batch. "Something has to be wrong" was all I could think; this perfume has a 4.0 out of thousands of reviews!! It could have been the more synthetic notes of Iso E Super or ambroxan. Who knows. Besides spraying on a little more while I was waiting for the dry down, I did not even give this one a second try because I was scared to.

Tried blind as part of the discovery set. First pick. I’m trying in deep winter and wasn’t sure what to expect. Sharp crystalline rose and citrus, with this fluffy undertone. Felt like the scent became a multi-tiered experience on my skin. How can it smell so light yet so clear, crisp and present. The scent radiates beautifully off skin. I get no patchouli. It’s the same feel (but not smell) as L’Eau d’Hiver. That cool, clear and haunting type scent. Typing away at my desk I kept smelling it radiating up and then going in for another sniff. This feels on my skin like an introverts scent. She has it together, has a plan and the nerve to carry things without with needing validation, whilst also feeling contemplative and comforting. Intriguing scent. I’m going to keep trying this now and in a few months when it warms up. Loving this scent.

Happypiggy84

This is what a lady vampire would wear. She has long black hair, red lips, wears all black and black leather. She’s beautiful, but cold and very dangerous.
When you walk past her, you get wafts of sweet rose with an underlying smell of metallic blood and shiver from the sudden drop in temperature.

Beautiful deadly scent imo. 1.5 sprays was more than enough for me. Any more and the patchouli takes over and you’re choking.

Manywaters8

I was indifferent to this when I first experienced it, it was part of a boxed set and I was distracted by the others. Those all proved too sweet for my liking and Lady Vengeance rose supreme. Sultry, heady, peppery, suffocating but not in a bad way---- like in a bdsm way. Extremely feminine yet androgynous too, like La Femme Nikita... Like a doe eyed woman in a cocktail dress with a handgun. Both predator and prey. I burned through it. Found myself only wanting to wear it at night... This really isn't a daytime scent, it's good for nighttime dance parties.

emmayoung537

A floral, leathery, musky, and powdery fragrance that smells so divine and mesmerizing that I feel lost when I wear it.

sarahtheperfumelover

Earthy, spicy, fresh, warm, and woody rose. The rose is very prominent so if you’re not a lover of rose this may not be your thing. Skin to nose it doesn’t drive me wild but when I catch whiffs I like it. Even though I’m not a mega fan of rose dense fragrances I want to try this in the cooler weather. I can see it being really neat in the dead of winter or on a crisp autumn day.

Enrium

From my sample set, I saved the best for last. Lady Vengeance is a great musky rose scent, mature but not dated, classic and elegant, yet subtly sexy. I am fussy about rose perfumes, but find that it is a note that is hard to beat when done well. Here, it is certainly done well - due in no small part to the consistently excellent Francis Kurkdijan. It is a light, fresh take on rose, as well as being cosily soft and musky. I expected a darker, spicy rose given the name, but I'm not complaining. This is, while not unusual, a great year-round, daytime rose scent.

LV opens with aromatic (and unexpected) lavender, typically herbal and briefly masculine. Then the rose unfurls. Lush, powdery and realistic, it forms the heart of this perfume. Some citrus in the background lifts it, keeping it fresh, while a pinch of patchouli adds earthiness without taking over. It's not too synthetic, despite the ambroxan and Iso-E-Super adding a hazy sweetness to the base - JHAG's signature (of which I'm not a big fan). The hint of smooth vanilla is lovely, and it fades to a soft, slightly sweet, musky-rose skin scent after several hours. Sillage and longevity are moderate.

It is reminiscent of Agent Provocateur, a pretty decent, bargain musky-rose perfume, but LV is less fruity and sweet; more nuanced. Addictive and beautiful, this rose is marvellously rendered, despite being far from groundbreaking. Beautifully composed and well-blended, this features a nice balance of notes. Simple but effective. 4/5.

Tam072822

A velvet soft fuzzy, pink rose. There's something so divinely feminine about this. It's a mature rose that to me smells less niave or innocent than some rose perfumes can smell. If those kinds of rose perfumes are girlish, this is womanly.

I first tried this in the cooler months and thought it smelled good but didn't feel particularly drawn to it. By chance, I tried it on again, this time on a very hot summers day and it just bloomed.

The base notes are what gives this fragrance its softness, and makes you want to nuzzle closer. It melts beautifully with the skin on me and draws you in.

On me it has good projection and lasts well.

This is a perfume worn by someone who is confident in their feminity, (though that doesn't mean it shouldn't be worn by people who don't identify as women).

A beautiful fragrance for everyday.

allthatis_barelythere

I feel a little mean because I keep reviewing rose fragrances saying I don't like them, but that's largely because I don't really like rose... so I'm sure I just don't know how to appreciate them. I tried some other big rose scents around the same time as Lady Vengeance (Mancera Black Line, Hermetica Rosefire) and this was a lot softer. A number of stockists have referred to it as a floral chypre but I don't get that (perhaps I'm missing something because it doesn't have the classic chypre structure either). Instead, it is quite musky and powdery with a whole lot of rose. I found it was quite faint on my skin after just 45 minutes. Overall, I did not find it particularly interesting.

alessandraj18

I’ll be honest, I wanted this scent to be darker. It needed a gunpowder or pepper note. Don’t get me wrong it’s a beautiful scent, but with a name like that….you need to pack a punch!

Discoyak

Amazing retro futuristic perfume. Would suit a waitress at a 70s truck stop or a big tiddy goth e-girl.

avb37

Really strong and longlasting. It's a good quality, slightly mature scent. It's not conventionally sexy, but it dries down to something very pleasant and a little seductive. The name and bottle are very confusing and not very fitting, but don't let them deter you--it's a solid fragrance in my opinion.

missogi

This is primarily a rose-patchouli scent, which is made really interesting by the lavender and some vanilla. Patchouli is strong on my skin. Lavender and bergamot give it freshness. I can smell the vanilla, but it's in no way a sweet fragrance. I find it very interesting and hard to characterize. The attributes of its wearer for me are feminine, strong, bossy, femme fatale, business lady, sexy, confident. I personally enjoy Lady Vengeance more in cooler weather, but it's very versatile to be a signature scent or to be worn all year round.

jeannebelmondo

Classic '00s rose-chouli, with a more unisex citrus aromatic twist. The bergamot and lavender in the opening of this are both calming and invigorating, and add a nice androgynous and tomboyish spin on something that's been done many times before, especially in the time of its release. It's a more brash and unsophisticated cousin of something like Coco Mademoiselle, and I like that, because I love Mademoiselle but it's so refined, so neatly manicured, to where it doesn't feel right to spray it on a more punkish and disheveled look, despite all its marketing of effortless French girl style.

I like it! And I usually don't really like rose much. Dries down a bit soapy which isn't very sexy or "vengeance"-like to me, but it's also a bit skanky too thanks to the patchouli, so it sort of balances out. Not for me, but certainly one of the least boring offerings in the line -- and I'm quite sure it's because it's one of the very few that's made by a well-trained nose and instead of the founder of the house.

islanders75

About 7 years ago, I gave someone a hug and lost my mind. Lady Vengeance! no kidding. I am still crazy about this scent--but it does not love me. Fabulous, heady, sexy top notes that dry down to old lady powder. Anyone know of a scent that smells like Lady V when you take the cap off and inhale? I so want to find it!

chyan

Dark, somber — sad in a very heavy and ancient way. It could just be me or the mood I was in when I tried this on. It will be hard for me to put it back on again. I could also see it shifting out of the sad territory and into the goth / vampire princess area which would take this into a like for me, but something else is needed / needs to be removed for it to get there.

mrshnchnkm

Rose + Iso E Super + Ambroxan. That's literally it, I can't describe this fragrance in any other way. It's just a rose and molecules. Molecules give a metallic, cold, pure hue to a rose, but it's still just a rose to me.

I used to have a phase of crazy obsession with Juliette Has A Gun, but now I can say that most of their perfumes are not a disappointment for me, but close to that. They are not bad, just too generic and one-sided. This one is no exception, it is too boring and straightforward imo.

Mistress Eva

This type of fragrance is among my favorite, but unfortunately Lady Vengeance isn't among the best of this type. I enjoy some other JHAG scents, and upon seeing the notes and the "reminds me of" section here, I thought I'd give it a go.

Upon first spray, I could see a vague resemblance to the Agent Provocateur fragrances I love. I was optimistic; I don't want a copycat of those fragrances, but I love scents like this, scents I like to call "neo-vintage".

As the fragrance dries down and fully develops, which takes a while, it flattens out. The sultry, neo-vintage patchouli-rose opening gives way a peculiarly anemic musk and slightly sweet perfume. To be fair, it isn't bad by any means, but I have such good fragrances of this type, that it struggles to compare. I feel like it would benefit from a slight retooling of the base notes to give it more heft and the "X" factor that it is missing.

If this type of perfume is in your wheelhouse, give it a try. It is not bad at all, it just doesn't benefit from comparison to similar types I have. A like for sure, but definitely not a love.

EspressoAddict

I am afraid i have nothing good to say about this perfume. I am not impressed by the brand in general.

I was out looking for a new signature scent after my two most worn perfumes for over a decade were discontinued out of the blue within months of each other and leaving me with no option to stock up. Both of them being rose perfumes, and drawn by the name, i ended up trying this. It was one of the biggest disappointments of my life on account of how...."meh" it was.

For once rose was nowhere to be found here. The honest truth is that all you smell on me is a soft, powdery-white musky scent, which starts to turn sweeter within the hour to end up with a prominent vanilla scent.

Which i don't like to begin with, and it certainly was not what i was going for....

For better or for worse my bitter disappointment ended up really to the taste of a certain someone who promptly gifted me a bottle a couple months later for my birthday. It is not an unpleasant scent, since the powdery notes don't let the vanilla assault my senses too much, and it being a gift, i shall wear it to show my appreciation and please that person. But....

But i have to say that i could have gotten the exact same result by combining a plain vanilla and the white musk perfumes from the body shop for a fraction of the price. Don't blind buy perfumes from this brand. Try them on first. This is something that goes without saying, but come on, we are all guilty of doing this, let's be honest here. But I have never been more unimpressed by something promising in mt entire life, and the cool names and hype behind this brand could tempt you and i have to share my personal experience....

On the upside, it does last quite a few hours on my skin, and the projection is noticeable but not overbearing, so there's that at least.

kateridelisle

Those old English roses, full of heady perfume after the downpour of rain. A stroll in the evening in my british garden. Dark, dank and earthy. The spice of patchouli rounds out the rose. Definitely an evening fragrance for most. A daytime fragrance for the Goth Queens. 10+/10.

AneG

1st 3 hours: Rose... Rose and Rose.
Then after 4 hours woodsy notes say hello.
Right after 7 hours vanilla with some musk and a bit of patchoulli make their entry. But I could tell patchoulli+musk are the stars here.
I'm very happy the first 6 hours.

ActuallyItsCady

I got very grandma's perfume vibes at first and I didn't think I was going to like it but after about 45 minutes it dried down to a really lovely slightly sweet musky floral scent. I never got much of the vanilla but the amber was beautiful and the rose stayed strong until the end. Not my favorite of JHAG but for someone who isn't overly fond of rose, this is a great option. It has just enough other notes to mellow it out that I enjoyed the rose for once. Definitely, a sexier going out perfume for me.

silthrill

I've been craving a sexy evening rose scent. Was trying to decide between MFK's Oud Satin Mood and Jo Malone's Velvet Rose & Oud, when Lady Vengeance trotted along and swept me off my feet. (Funny enough the nose is Francis Kurkdijan so there's a pattern here). This is a dirty, dewy, gothic rose and I'm completely obsessed.

intlV's review below is spot-on. "It's Black Opium for people who hate Black Opium. Poison for people who hate Poison. It's a rose for the woman not fond of floral." - check, check, check.

Natlon

This perfume is AMAZING!
The opening, to me, is not the nicest (vintage vibes, my husband said straight away wet rose), but wait a bit and it is just beautiful. I had a sample and had to buy a full bottle. I just adore it.
I can smell vanilla and gentle rose in the drydown. It gives me an impression of creaminess and comfort. I also think it’s sexy. I was expecting something dark and very unusual. It is still different in my opinion and I think not a safe buy. I don’t think it’s for every occasion. On the other hand if you like it why stop yourself from enjoying it whenever you want ;) I think it is not „fully” feminine and some men could pull it off. It would suit person of any age in my opinion.

smellgewd1

This is a very enjoyable rose perfume. It's mature, classy and wearable. I can see myself wearing this all year round. Perfect for spring amd summer but cosy enough for winter!.

Do not blind buy this if you don't like flower perfume cause this one is super duper flowery i barely smell the vanilla

tunya

The only one from the Juliette discovery set I don't actively hate. Having said that, I will use up the mini and never go back to it ever again.

It very vaguely and distantly reminds me of Kierin NYC Nitro Noir, but really very vaguely and very distantly.

Rosy on initial spray. Wet, dewy rose.
Then clean, cotton-y notes - cetalox, I guess? No vanilla at all.
The fresh cotton phase lasts a little while. It's kind of clean, ozonic vibe, fighting with the rose. This phase is inky, wet smelling. I can appreciate what's happening and how the notes are competing but I don't enjoy this phase.
After about 1.5 hours, I am getting peppery patchouli vibes. It's nice, but not amazing. It's like a plastic, synthetic patchouli. Rose appears oily at this stage, but still dewy, like after a big rain. I like this stage.

Still, by far the best from the set - it made me feel something, I have an opinion on it, unlike on some other Juliette ones.

Definitely an evening fragrance. Definitely don't wear to work.

Torika

I love this scent. At first spray, it has a weird artificial smell that is like alcohol or chemicals to me, which might be the lavender which I've never been a fan of. The dry down though is this beautiful rose and musk which all mellow out with the vanilla notes. Lasts forever on my clothes. A few hours on the skin. Even though it's heavy on the rose, it's not like Grandma's perfume to me, its fresh and clean and playful. With a name like lady vengeance I was scared it was going to be something overpowering that might give me a headache - it's easy to wear and I can't wait to get a full size of it.

mayamaya80

Gorgeous! This is elegant and sexy. I love it even more layered with Not a Perfume superdose or the regular one. Sillage is soft but projects far.

kmyechan

This is very, very lovely and after going through two samples, I see a full bottle in my near future.

Starts with a bold somewhat medicinal smell, which likely is the lavender. Then it's just all rose-patchouli gorgeousness, green and blooming and sexy and just a little dirty, on a bed of creamy vanilla. Musk comes out on the dry down and this is just fantastic.
A couple of times, though, I've had an unpleasant plastic note come through - I haven't yet figured out what happened, but was worthy of mention.

Iris128

When i wear it i feel like a 400 year old vampire in the best way possible! I love that it is seductive without being dark or overwhelming, it gives off a very "quiet but deadly" vibe to the wearer. It is definitely a feminine scent, like an elevated classic. The scent of roses is the one more prominant on my skin, it starts like a hit but then it fades to a creamy floral blend that is exquisitely balanced by vanilla. A little goes a long way, so i don't mind it being a bit pricey because it can last a long time.

angienotesjunkie

B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L!
Love at first snif and went all in for the large bottle. Silage and longevity are softer than I usually go for, but I definitely won't mind respraying this one. With my chemistry it's mostly a double dose fresh pink/red Roses and Musk, with Patchouli, Geranium, Vanilla and Lavender hanging out in the background. Woody, Amber notes are there to give a grounding warmth that tames the floral aspects and adds some extra oomph!
This would be fitting for any occasion at anytime IMO.

fairycoffins

Opens with a blast of lavender and bergamot, and then settles into a soapy rose/geranium scent with a healthy helping of patchouli. The musk in the base is present throughout the scent journey. A bit too soapy and musky for me, until later in the drydown when the vanilla takes the edge off. This leans on the mature side of the spectrum, and has a chemical vibe for a while, and yet I still reach for it once in a blue moon, because sometimes a clean wet rose is just what I want. It doesn’t smell “woody” to my nose at all, it actually smells super floral and green and fresh to me, and I think this would work best in spring. (Wearing this in mid-winter and I’m getting almost no warmth, except for the touch of vanilla in the drydown. It isn’t overpowering.) Compared to Gucci Guilty Absolute pour Femme (another rose and patchouli scent I own), the two ingredients play very well together, whereas in the Gucci perfume, the rose and patchouli are at odds, and that’s why I keep coming back to this one.

jayanna

this shit smells so sexy its insane

danny777

I first smelled Lady Vengeance in a store many years ago and wanted it ever since. About 2 years ago I got it is as a birthday gift and remembered why I wanted it for so long. Lady Vengeance is a beautiful rosey perfume, the packaging is quite misleading since this is a delicate and feminine scent. The rose is not at all overwhelming but it is quite present. I also love that it's not too sweet. Definitely, more of a colder-weather scent since it could be a bit too woody for the summer but if you're looking for an elegant, rosey, wintery scent that you can't really get tired of this is a great perfume to try!

*loves_shoes*

Lavender, Rose, patchouli and geranium. The lavender and geranium with patch give this a dirty kind of feel. The Rose tries to save it. And fails.
I can’t smell iso-e super, or ambroxan, so who knows what I’m missing in this one. Something that makes it nicer I’d assume, as on me this is not a pleasant mix of notes.

Edit: dries down to the smell of soap.

foreverlover

I really dislike this. This smells like cheap plastic on me. I have the deep urge to throw up. I am so surprised that this is called "Lady Vengeance". I expected something opulent and dark. I am happy I bought a small tester :/

It has been 7 hours and now it turned into a pleasant rose. Unfortunately, that is too long of a time span for a fragrance to turn from nauseating into pleasant. Maybe it is really my skin on which this perfume doesn't work.

Eval81

The rose note comes out intense, but with no sillage and no longevity...this rose is not vengeful at all. Unless Lady Vengeance is meant to take her revenge in silence. As someone wrote below, this perfume is also quite linear, so for me it is totally not interesting when there are so many better roses in the garden. If anything, the name is more interesting than the perfume. Glad I got the discovery box, before buying anything full size by JHAG.

AMcK

Modern, and more refined version of Paloma Picasso W on the dry out fresh paper-y ( not " peppery") musc, it lasts all day and all night, be careful applying it, it is quite strong, worth the money if you like the scent, the bottle will last forever.

iamaround

Opens with a fresh almost soapy rose, the lavender has a strong presence in the opening. The dry down is a powdery and musky patchouli rose scent with a pinch of citrus, quite linear. I do not find it ‘femme fatale’ in any way, nor I think it leans vintage, but still elegant. I can see someone well-mannered and reserved wearing this. I find this scent quite comforting actually, but not ‘cozy’. This was a repurchase for me, my original bottle came in a round box, the new packaging is a bit of a let-down, and so it the perfume. It seems less potent than it used to be, definitely not as long lasting. I’m sure it wasn’t super long lasting before but at least it had better sillage.

ingeneuxo

-This scent brings back memories.
-Memories of being a child, itching all over with chickenpox and being slathered with rose-scented baby powder by a grumpy mom.
-Jokes aside, Lady Vengeance isn't as fierce a scent as I imagined it would be.
-Powdery iris scent with a light citrusy drydown.
-Doesn't lean vintage to my nose. But it's an odd scent for a perfume. Smells more like actual rose-scent powder, as opposed to perfume.
-I can't imagine anyone willing to pay more than 5 bucks for this scent profile. (-)

Marcyjuno

It’s definitely a rose perfume but not in the dusty, old kind of way. A modern, clean rose. It’s refreshing and ever so slightly sweet as opposed to what you might expect from the black bottle and powerful name. It sits closely to the skin and longevity is about 3-4 hours.

adelaidesandrina

Like others, i expected this frag to be a dark sultry rose. But it turns out that this smells very innocent and clean. It’s a green stemmy rose with an airy touch to it. Like a breeze.. yes this smells like you’re walking in a rose garden with fresh air wafting around you.

KymIndigo

Lady Vengeance is a clean, musky rose perfume. It's quite a linear fragrance - pink rose and soft lavender are given some volume with a light musk base. A light woody note and patchouli create some interest. An extremely light touch of citrus brushes the top, adding to the clean aspect.

Lady Vengeance appears like an old fashioned rose but something about it stays modern, perhaps the use of chemical based notes like iso e super. I could imagine someone like Dita Von Teese wearing this fragrance, a modern bombshell inspired by times gone by. It's also light and clean enough to be worn in the office or on day outings. A solid, multi-use scent, and an excellent example of rose.

cjoudas

I like this rose- it's light and gentle, but then there's also a kind of hairy note. someone before me mentions cashmere- that would make sense. I was going to say dog hair.
I guess I would like my sweaters to smell like this- I find it really interesting without being bold at all. Pleasant and ever so slightly challenging.

mlleghoul

Over the past 24 hours, I have had to reframe and rescript all of my internal dialogue about Lady Vengeance from Juliette has a Gun. It is an entirely different creature today than it was yesterday. Almost a Jekyll and Hyde performance, if the good doctor was a sociopath and his alter ego was actually a hapless hero. Let me explain. Yesterday this was a fragrance of soft, cedary woods and ambery musks, a combination which I tend to love... but it was missing something. It was like observing someone with a human mask on, going through the motions of what humans do, but behind their dead, black eyes there was no light, or spark, or soul. Today this scent is the most theatrical, scenery-chewing rose; a rose that sweeps in to save the day with roses embroidered on its cape and a rose between its teeth and some sort of rose-related catchphrase-- in case you, you know, forgot it was a rose. On one hand, it’s too little, and on the other, it’s Very A Lot and between the two, this lady has forgotten about whatever she wanted vengeance for in the first place.

CorryJoe

This smells so sour to me, I can’t even stand it. It smells like a rose dipped in lime juice and left sitting on the table for a couple days. Can you tell I’m not a fan? LOL!

Poppy95

I've been looking for *the* rose for a while now. The thing is, I've encountered a lot of rose scents that I've liked and enjoyed, but not truly, viscerally LOVED. While pretty, the roses I've sampled has either been slightly too sour, too jammy, too soapy-clean... I ended up thinking maybe rose just wasn't a note for me, at least not when it takes the center stage. However, I am a romantic, and a sucker, too - I longed for a deep, dark, maybe even slightly gothic rose, because of course I did. Chasing the fantasy. But it payed off in the end! Lady Vengeance is absolutely gorgeous! Feminine and voluptuous, yet moody. A woman with big soulful eyes and heavy eyelashes sitting alone at the bar, pouting. I LIVE for the rose-vanilla-patch combo, which I find grounds the scent and lends it an earthy vibe and a slight bit of grit. Beautiful!

Dulcedulce

I actually liked this one. It has a burlesque kind of vibe for me. Something a person who dresses like burlesque 1940s. Kind of like Dita Von Teese. I personally think this would suit someone who is a bit of a statement themselves.

Mariyamokshina

Fresh garden rose soap and fresh air Clorox. Slightly powdery and grassy . Very boring for me.

LauraAD

I definitely get that super warm and comforting Iso E Super/Ambroxan "smells like me but better" thing that I get from Molecule 01/02, but it's topped with a rose very similar to Agent Provocateur, or Mad Madame. It's subtle, and it becomes a skin scent within a couple of hours but it's really really nice. JHAG haven't let me down yet!

SheWolfDanielle

The rose is full-bodied, and the musk below it gives it a nice earthy tone.

But... I don't like roses. No surprise this that is on my list of stuff I don't like. I wouldn't have tried it except that it came in my sample set, and I figured, "what the heck, maybe it'll surprise me like some other stuff has."

Zero surprises here, unfortunately.

But if you like perfumes that are mostly rose, with an earthy/musky base, go for it. You'll probably like it.

Purplekist

First smell snd I was hooked. Gorgeous rose up front, sadly it doesn’t last long.

audreysoccer

Again. I'm not a fragrance specialist but it smells just like a classic female perfume but stays close to the skin. I feel you can get this cheaper somewhere else.

hexed

It could read as hinting at darkness, but it ultimately comes out as very prim & proper. Less dramatic than Chloe Intense, in fact, nothing in this is close to pushing any limits. Wearable, very. Boring as well. Remarkably cold, there's no earthiness, it's nearly metallic, neutered?

d_silent_one

Well, the name is very apt for the fragrance. This is definitely a vengative rose. This is very strong, you almost only need one spray. This is unique veering on strange. I am wearing one spray of it on my arm and I think I picked the wrong day to wear it. It is not for the weak, it can turn stomachs. I wouldn't say it's sweet on the traditional way, it's more of a thick, syrupy fragrance. If you're looking for something unique, that doesn't smell like anything else, you're adventurous and open minded, and you like overbearing perfumes, then I suggest to TRY this first. Be careful with this lady, she wants revenge.

Aromantra

This was truly disappointing... It is neither sultry nor dark, but rather an overly-powdery green synthetic mess. Something in this is seriously nauseating (could it be the geranium?) The development of the fragrance is mostly linear and ends as a sour citrusy powder. In a blind smell test, you would think this is a cheap rose-scented floor cleaning product. I feel cheated :(

justlikemagic

A bold and spicy fragrance that's so overpowering it gives me a headache almost immediately. The smell of the fragrance will definitely appeal to people who like very confident, sexy fragrances, but this isn't it for me. This feels like something you'd wear to put a Louisville slugger in your cheating ex's headlights, so I do think they definitely named it right.

indriq

Here, patchouli and ambroxan pulsate on my skin, occasionally scratched me with rose. A little sultry, a little erotic, a little dangerous and very definitive. It's a very long lasting scent, yet I can barely smell it on myself. Or rather, I only can smell it when I stick my nose onto my skin, but that's all day long. People around me regularly give compliments about it. I think it's a fragrance that's completely me; it smells like my skin, it becomes one with me. Love you Lady V, forever.

intlV

Instant classic. A favorite upon first test. By far, Francis Kurkdjian's best scent, in my opinion. The longevity is amazing, versatility shocking, price point perfect. It's comforting and scary all at once. It's Black Opium for people who hate Black Opium. Poison for people who hate Poison. It's a rose for the woman not fond of floral. It's spicy, metallic, heated, cold, fresh, dirty... a study in contradiction. No wonder this one got a flanker.

yungmich

I had higher hopes for this but it ended up being another JHAG perfume I didn’t like. If you’ve ever tried bath pearls that is exactly what this perfume smells like to me. Very soapy, almost smells like walking in to a Lush store. I feel like the combination of bergamot and lavender with the rose is what is making this smell so soapy. I can imagine this on a confident and sexy young woman but at the same time it does smell like an old lady perfume. If you’re looking for a nice floral rose perfume this is definitely not it. I tried it a few times but I did not want to do a full wear test with this because I dislike it quite a lot, so not entirely sure of the lasting power.

Mona708

It’s pretty underwhelming- I got nothing but a faint citrus-like whiff before it faded to a nondescript skin scent. Luckily you can try this out at Sephora before taking the plunge.

americanablonde

Unfortunately, this perfume didn't work out for me. It's a lovely blend of lavender, rose, and patchouli, but it's so soapy and powdery that it comes across smelling a bit...stale or old. With a name like Lady Vengeance, I was expecting something a bit darker or sexier, but on my skin, it's incredibly soft and light. The scent is also very linear, and didn't develop much beyond that powdery soap profile.

Rivercat

Lovely rose opening that slides into a warm, musky rose. Sadly I don't get much patch. A nice scent but not for me.

fgamz

This reminds me of the scene in Addams Family, where Morticia is cutting the heads of roses in her plant nursery room. I love this scent. This describes Morticias dark, sexy, sulty, classy and IDGAF attitude. This is a beautiful mix of rose, lavender and patchouli with the musk perfectly balancing. I definitely understand the "old lady smell" but it's more like a "mature bad bitch smell" . I personally LOVE it!! It isn't as dark like my beautiful Midnight Poison but it's definitely within its league but more feminine, and floral it's definitely well balanced.

Now another thing I was going to mention was the comparison to Vengeance Extreme. To me Vengeance Extremes notes are what Wednesday Addams would smell like as a woman. Now she was more sassy, had a darker humour, more cynical and more morbid. Two different classes, within the same family but different personality.

I would recommend trying first, this is a scent that can easily wear you.

Edit: the drydown reminds me so much of Dita Von Teese signature perfume. The black bottle. Could easily be a dupe.

RainbowGirl

With a super villain name like "Lady Vengeance" I was expecting something... dangerous. Something with a little gun powder, or insanity inducing oud! Maybe even a sexy scent, with bourbon vanilla and tobacco. However, what this actually smells like is Church Lady Vengeance! Or... Girl Next Door Vengeance! I guess those names were already taken.

The opening is a strong bergamot with lavender. Then the musky powdery rose comes through, but the bergamot and lavender are still strong and present. Actually, what I really like about this perfume, is that the bergamot stays for a long time, and it freshens the lavender and musky rose. At the dry down, you are left with a safe, pretty, slightly sweet, powdery rose, and feeling very... un-avenged.

Kittensrevenge

Beautiful, heavy rose matched perfectly with patchouli. Gothic and sensual.

Having tried the aforementioned Agent Provocateur to compare, I can understand why people might draw similarities, but AP is a sharper, more synthetic fragrance.
Lady Vengeance emits a warmth and complexity - likely due to the inclusion of bergamot, lavender and ambroxan - that I personally find more appealing.

My go-to fragrance for days that I want to feel like I can take on the world.

LinaSVas

Floral musky smell, strong presences of a rose patchouli combo that offset by lavender.
To my nose, there is something warm and comforting that seems amber-like it's probably the ambroxan.

It's also very light on my skin so probably a sping time/ low heat perfume (for me) great for indoor events or work or dates. It's a classy smell, the opposite of flirty but I can imagine people showing you respect when wearing this.

Sarm33345

A Luxury soap bar fresh and crisp at first
,but when the dry down is musky soft scent
The best thing in this perfume is the sprayer so
The mist of the liquid is very fine as fck
Not that long lasting
For me 8 out of 10 that’s means i love it soo much

InfiniteStarla

I have a sample decant of this from Notino. Been getting into JHaG scents recently and this sounded very similar to Agent Provocateur's original parfum, so I was curious. On first sniff and wearing today, it's like a cross between the original AP (which I adore) and the Eau Emotionelle (which I actually don't really like). For the first couple of minutes, both this and AP are absolute stinkbombs, where you smell really animalic, earthy, grotty patchouli and incense like notes. As they mellow out, AP has more rose, and this has more lightness - both are powdery on the dry down but AP's is richer and fuller bodied, LV is "thinner", a more high pitched powderiness that I assume comes from the lavender (it's this that smells almost identical to Eau Emotionelle). I think if you like one, you'll probably like the other, but I much prefer AP due it's fuller and more rounded rose (plus price-wise you could buy AP 5 times over). For JHaG, the projection and longevity are the best of all theirs I've tried, I got 6-7+ hours today and moderate silage. Glad to have tried but as I expected, not one I need to buy full size.

pttrt

Definitely reminds me of AG but with more depth.
Love the smell of a combination of rose and sth sexy .. patchouli, I guess

But the longevity is not as expected 4-5 hrs on me which confuses me a little bit due to the ingredients.
I'll give it another try!

noircat

Yes, I get dark musky rose, lavender (a note I once loathed but liking more and more), patchouli, bergomont. I like it, but wanted something more, I don't know. Much too similar to the original Agent Provocateur (one of my favourites, which I prefer) for me to purchase, but, nice bottle, cute name.

Edit: It's 2 hours later and this scent is barely detectable anymore. AP beats this one for sillage and longevity by miles.

STOICFISH

On me, this is a dark, musky rose. Linear. Reminds me of the NR line. Not the rose in looking for as I want greener and more complex but not bad. I think it suits its name as it isn't a light airy rose with the Musc.

Meara

I love Mad Madame from Juliette, but this perfume is just atrociously hideous...what a disappointment. If you're familiar with the smell of Fengyoujing, this is very similar to that. Again, it's gross.

bladee

At first glance, it feels like a less creamy version of Delina. Originally, I wanted to try this scent because it kinda seems more affordable than Parfums de Marly. I love the essence this perfume gives off. At least, Lady Vengeance matches my personality more than Delina. I’ve read a couple reviews that say the name does not match, but I disagree. I feel sexy yet malicious while wearing this. It is a femme fatale rose yet, there is a sharp note in it that takes it to Bad Girls Club (femme fatale but in a modern, reality tv kinda way). It’s for a girl whose “nasty, but classy”.

seventeen_sails

I'm currently smelling this next to La Fille de Berlin since they both have a large dose of rose along with geranium and patchouli. It's interesting- they do read as similar to me, except texture-wise. LV is very fuzzy and FdB is very smooth (and even compared to other scents they might be outliers on the fuzzy-smooth spectrum). Lady Vengeance has some appeal- the fuzzy-molecule-musk thing along with florals and citrus is seductive and fun. But it becomes cloying after a while, powdery, a bit sweet, but also sharp. Smells like "perfume" in a pretty generic way, which crosses a line for me.

Tilsie

Just smells okay. Nothing special to it, bought the discovery set and somehow dislike them all.

elledeelee

A citrusy musky rose, where the rose is warm but the musk is sour. It's a lovely fragrance but my skin has an unfortunate habit of amping up bergamot, which can overpower the rose at first. On my skin it takes a while to mellow and get comfy. As the musk starts to emerge it does become sexier, and there are sweet and spicy elements. As I am finding with several scents from this house, you have to give them a real chance to develop and for your nose to grow accustomed to them. I could quite happily wear anything with rose, but although this has depth it isn't special enough to warrant a full bottle purchase. Based on the name I was expecting something much more dangerous, but at least this lady certainly is powerful and tenacious!

Tolkashutka

I strongly agree with @Coquita that the name is not fitting to the scent. Based on the bottle and the name, I supposed I was expecting a bit more of an aggressive scent?

What I got was a nice, inoffensive winter / warmly radiating rose with a touch of citrus in the beginning. I detect the bergamot initially far more than I do the lavender, but as it starts to dry, the lavender and bergamot trade places. The middle is definitely rose heavy, and if there’s patchouli in there, then it is really nicely done (sometimes patchouli can make or break a scent). Definitely lots of slightly dirty musk in the base (AHHHH YIIISSSSSS), and the vanilla plays second fiddle.

Decent but not great lasting power on my skin, around 5-6 hours. I enjoy my ~2 mL decant that I received in a swap, but I don’t know if I would buy a full bottle at the asking price of $135 for 100 mL.

TapputiKaputi

My cat went into heat last week (she’s been spayed now, thank all the gods), and my sweet little girl turned into a spraying machine. So I know what cat piss smells like. And Lady Vengeance, my friends, is a bucket of cat piss sprinkled with Sweet-n-Low. We spent all week dousing the house in enzymatic cleansers and leaving the windows open. I don’t want that scent back in my life! Not looking forward to Zoologist’s Hyrax, which I ordered before my own house became a feral cat zoo.

Coquita

How a perfume called "Lady Vengeance" should smell, according to my imagination:
Deep rose, loads of earthy patchouli, a bit of skanky musk and a bit of something that prickles your nose in the opening, like pepper. It should also last forever because revenge is served in as a cold dish, and that takes time to cool down.

How does Lady Vengeance by JHAG smell:
Opens with a bouquet of sweet, clean, musky roses, much alike to Narciso Rodriguez for Her EdP sans peach. It then settles to a powdery rose scent, akin to dried flowers. If there is any patchouli here, it is minimal and very clean too.

The scent is pleasant, and I can see it as a passe-partout for daytime wear during the mild seasons, but calling this perfume Lady Vengeance is misleading, to say the least. Cold rage is nowhere to be found in this bottle. JHAG really needs a better copywriter... Oh, and LV also lasts less than 4 h on my skin, which is a big no-no for me. Guess I'll have to keep on looking for a Midnight Poison substitute.

With this perfume Romano Ricci, with Francis Kurkdjian as perfumer, intends to portray "a woman who leaves a rich and sophisticated trail. The expression of undeniable feminity, confident and divinely sensual". From my point of view it succeeds, even though it is not a particularly original composition or one that leans towards the sexy. Lady Vengeance is not for me a fragrance to wear at night but a perfect perfume for a work environment or a business meeting. Its name certainly evokes a much more daring scent, but for me it is not.

It smells floral, predominantly to a modernized rose, powdery, elegant, discreet, slightly sweet, clean, certainly nothing strident and very respectful with the rest of the people who share our space. In the base patchouli stands out a lot, so it reminds me of Perles de Lalique, although the latter seems less discreet (but I like it more in general given my addiction to fragrances with a lot of presence).

As with other perfumes of this house, to get a good sillage I have to apply generously but, doing so, its duration on my skin is very good, about 9-10 hours, perfect for a working day.

It is a fragrance that I like for using in the day-to-day office. Although this brand does not usually trap me in its proposals and this one has again not done it completely, I consider it a perfume that, if I find (for example in Notino) at a designer price instead of a niche price, I could include in my collection with the intention of using it in a work environment.

This is a very evocative fragrance bringing to mind the long ago scent association of leaving a club with a handsome stranger on a cold winter night. You've talked and gotten to know each other, he's a nice guy and his eyes are amazing. You reach the parking lot and it's time to say goodnight or continue the night together. You embrace. The leather of his jacket, the scent of your perfume and the heat of the moment combine. Rose, leather and musk. Very sexy scent.

Elphaba09

I love the way it smells in the bottle: a cashmere rose with just a bit of patchouli. Once on me though, it turned into a cheap hotel soap that clings to the skin. I soaked my wrists in alcohol and then scrubbed it with coffee grounds to try to get rid of it, but I kept getting whiffs for hours later. Since it is named after one of my favorite movies, I was rather disappointed. I even tried to wear it in different seasons just to see if it would change, as my other perfumes do. Sadly, the changes were never good.

I ended up giving it to my daughter. When she wears it, it is everything it promises to be.

realitygreene

The rose is strong in this one! There's something about this fragrance that is cloying on me. Even one spray is too much and I'm usually a fan of a darker more sultry rose fragrance. This one is a miss for me. I don't enjoy the scent and I don't like smelling it on me. If you're a fan, the lasting power and sillage is phenomenal so that's a plus.

foldingwishes

FYI to any of y'all with a history of allergies: the moment the spray hit my skin there was an instant reaction. There were prominent red spots right where the drops hit. I happen to be allergic to a lot of proteins (fish, egg, pork) and stone fruits, so if you're similar I'd tread carefully.

The scent itself is much weaker on the skin than it is on paper. It just melds into the skin and gives it a hippy rosy glow. It's okay... not worth popping a benadryl for. After a while it begins to turn on the skin and give off this onion-garlic vibe. That might be the iso-E on me.

NDStars

First blast of sweet rose that ends with a musky cashmere twist. I usually don't like rose in perfumes but this one is not jammy or cloying, it just smells freshly sweet and dewy and then deepens into a vaguely creamy musk. Would have been interesting to see what a leather note included here could do. After an hour, the scent changes to a more soapy rose. Decidedly feminine and appropriate for all weather except for hot days as I'm sure the rose would be too suffocating then.

6+ hours later: Still there, getting wafts of it from an arm's length away.

Florence27

The name is intriguing. The juice inside, not so much. Marketing does wonders, but in this case I believe that the whole "romance meets rock" thing, has been achieved in some level.

Maybe I'm a bit biased by the name, but it does strike me as a scent meant for seduction, with an air of sophistication as well. I expected a lot more darkness, though, with patchouli and vetiver listed. The drydown leans more to a romantic scent.

Rose is the most prominent note. In the drydown I also detect musk, a whiff of patchouli and, surprisingly, a masculine accord from the vetiver. It's on the verge of being too sweet, for my liking, which I would have never guessed from the notes and reviews.

Does it live up to its name? Unfortunately not, for me at least. With a name like that I would expect an excessive dose of patchouli and vetiver, a leather accord as well.

Not really original, neither unique, but it is something different, in the era of Good Girl and Black Opium craze.

Beatricehelena

Smells like a less sweet Donna by Valentino to me- lots of rose and patchouli. Pleasant, but not that unique and not worth a full bottle.

RottigrlNYC

ISO e super AND ambroxan, no wonder I can barely smell this one. It’s a pass for me

MaquiLab

A perfume for a strong woman, truthful to its name. It creates a beautiful rose-y aura and fades away like a classy wine. I can imagine wearing this with a pencil skirt so most probably a C-level executive might enjoy this. It's empowering!

L.bss

I agree everything with @esteban747 the accuracy of name and the olfactive trip is top notch! It opens very similar to Eau Capitale, almost identical. Then I was so disappointed with the musky vanilla drydown that I found very feminine. Again it has a direction, but the end is just so banal, at least I find. Sillage and projection are very good though!

Becw08

Rather nice.
Uncomplicated spicy rose.

kiraagold

Soapy dry rose that settles into a metallic musk that grows and grows and takes over living rooms and puts its feet on the furniture.
The vanilla shows up briefly a half an hour in, but can't compete with the ambroxan-patchouli that sits like a penny in the mouth and puts Black Sabbath tunes in the head all day.

A nice invasive modern take on an old rose.

s.pellegrino

With a fantastic, brilliant name like this, a scent is almost bound to disappoint. And indeed, Lady Vengeance is neither as seductive nor quite as dark as I'd like it to be. I do really like that this fragrance opens with a bouquet of deceptively soapy roses - the lady has arrived - that gradually darken somewhat and invite you in. The dry down lacks in drama to fully draw the story to its conclusion, however. No revenge is served.

Evocative and quite pleasant to wear but ultimately misses its own mark, in my opinion.

Soprane

Trying a sample from the discovery kit. I like this. The rose is lovely. I get quite a lot of tea, so much so that if someone wearing this told me they had layered EA Green Tea with a rose soliflore I would believe them. But maybe what I'm detecting as tea is really the geranium. I can't detect much vanilla so far (been wearing it for about 20 mins). I'm not particularly excited by it, but I like it well enough. Simple but elegant construction, which seems to be what JHAG does. I'm unlikely to buy a full bottle.

sopke

Sharp and cool roses with patchouli. I love it inside out. it has no sweetness nor tenderness and perfectly fits with a casual leather jacket, jeans or oversize jumpers, tshirt. It might be due to the quarantine times, but this beauty wraps me while being at home, where work and normal life boundaries are gone. And it stays forever on clothing, not that strong on the skin though. Thanks, JHAG creators, one more stand out in the collection.

bdragonfly12345

This is the only scent in the discovery set that doesn't smell like "Not a Perfume" + _____________ (berries, vanilla, ginger/citrus, etc), so that was nice.

It's so rose-y, like putting your face into a vase of dark red long-stemmed roses. The patchouli grounds it wonderfully. Those are what I predominantly smell.

It's not to my taste, but I am really enjoying it as a base for other scents; "Scandal" on one arm (sweetens it up to a 'jammy' rose scent), and "Sì Fiori" on the other arm. I enjoy wearing perfume to work, and this is just a bit much by itself (out to dinner though, or for a date, it would be great).

nordicmoxie

This smells to me, bluntly, old-lady rose with lingering cigarette smoke.

If that's what they are going for with the whole rock 'n roll vibe, that is not what I imagined.

Blind buy and I bought the large bottle from Sephora.

If anyone wants to trade, message me, please. Thx

intlV

This is Glo by JLo mixed with Hermes Twilly.

giggle_butt

This is my femme fatale perfume. Full disclosure: I cannot wear Agent Provocateur, my skin kills the good stuff and just leaves an overly sharp aroma that refuses to blend. And there's a BIT of a similar sharpness with Lady Vengeance. It's definitely coming from the top notes though, because it opens up into something nice with time.

But there's a good your or two where it's a bit...sharp.

Please don't ask me what it means that the famous for being sexy AF parts don't agree with my body chemistry. ("I can be sexy! " I cry whilst having a mental breakdown.)

I would use up any sample, but it clearly doesn't want me to purchase a full bottle for my skin. Otherwise, this definitely could have made it onto my wishlist. The performance is excellent. She projects comfortably at arms length for the better half of the day and turns into a skin scent around 7 hours.

Gnossiennes

Patchouli rose. Thanks to Francis Kurkdjian's talent, this may be the best of JhaG. But even so, let's just be frank, this is just nearly of average. It's like some slices of "plastic knife" (Well. Even I myself do not understand what I mean, but that's just my exact feelings.) The notes are also a little bit lame. A somehow boring fragrance. But still, this becomes a typical formula for JhaG: its most works seem follow this pattern.

Why not find another alternative? There are some many qualified out there, let alone the price.

IMadeleine

whoaaaaa I really like this scent. I have Midnight Oud from Juliette has a Gun, but this one is waaaaay better

RedIsDead

Wearing this today, a sample from the discovery kit.

This is a really nicely blended fragrance, everything just kind of melts together and smells very cohesive. You can still tell it's mostly patchouli and rose but it doesn't feel linear.

The notes I don't get: bergamot & vanilla. Bergamot never sticks on me for some reason, it just disappears which is a real shame. Usually I make vanilla's a real bomb but it seems like the patchouli is taking the stage instead.

I couldn't figure out what was stopping this from being a love for me, and taking a look at the notes I realise it's the geranium. Geranium just feels so old fashioned to me when it's with rose or lavender.

If it wasn't for that pesky geranium I'd be buying myself a full size.

Mizmalibu

I just tested it today, I ordered a 12 sample kit from the JHAG website a while ago. I’m not into rose fragrances but the roses in this (and also Midnight Oud) are beautiful, I think. I really like this perfume, it’s very suitable for a date or a night out. It reminds me a little of Gucci Rush 2 I used to wear in my student years, not the same notes but the same fresh, deep, bold vibe.

Libra73

I doubt my review will help anyone, but I’ll leave it here in case it does. I’m not great at pointing out multiple notes in a fragrance, though that might not matter much here, as JHAG Not A Perfume is described as a “molecule”. Okay, sure. Chemistry wasn’t my thing. I got this as a part of the JHAG discovery sample set. I was excited about this set. Unfortunately, I’ve found that predominately synthetic scents do NOT work well on me. This namesake non-scent did create a “scent” on me, but it was not favourable to me in any way. It’s hard to explain except to say that it smells very synthetic to me, and not in positive a way. And sillage was low, longevity even lower. So if I had liked it, that wouldn’t work for me either.

I’ve tried the other samples from this kit (the “mmm” was most disappointing to me as it did NOT fit the name in any way) and the only one I like enough to wear is Lady vengeance. I’m not knocking this house or calling the product bad or crappy; rather, I get the Impression that they care about their scents and their clientele love them. It’s just that there are a group of notes this house uses that just don’t work with my body chemistry. Which is a bummer, and likely not relevant to anyone here except to say that perhaps it’s not totally uncommon for certain repeated notes to not work for some people.

Narissaeh

This was a blind buy as Selfridges isn't open to smell the jhag range and I didn't have the patience to wait for samples to be delivered lol I just explored the notes and really liked what I saw. When I first sprayed this I thought i'd wasted a lot of money for something I really didn't like....then 5 minutes later I couldn't stop smelling my palm. SO GOOD!!!!! Beautiful rose scent with a woody dry down I love love love it!

Pez_Enelrio

this is a great fragrance. i dont like all JHG, well most of it I dont...BUT THIS ONE!!!! probaby because I like musky rose perfumes in general and this one has a spicy note in the drydown that reminds me of azzaro visit for men, that i loved which makes this very unique

Elphaba09

I will admit that I bought this because "Lady Vengence" is one of my favorite movies and because I like the scent profile. Sadly, it smelled like a funeral parlor that had been boarded up with the decaying flowers left inside. Or how I would imagine Ms. Havisham's Satis House smelled. I had to wash it off. Even then, it lingered forever.

faerywren

Disappears on me within an hour. Even spaying my hair and clothes. I loved the way it smelled, it just went poof in no time.

GinCatsBooks

The first thing that lured me in with Lady Vengeance was the name, we recently got a Juliette Has A Gun concession at my local John Lewis and when walking through, the stand caught my attention, well, this bottle in particular did, mainly because of the name and the lace-like detailing on the bottle, I just had to smell it, and it was love at first sniff!

Lady Vengeance is a sexy, dirty femme fetale, at first glance she may seem all sugar and spice but do anything to provoke her and she will sink her claws in!

When first sprayed, Lady Vengeance opens up with a delightfully fresh garden rose with some mild powder in the background, but then, oh, give it half an hour and the goody-goody rose vanishes, well, it doesnt vanish but darker notes of patchouli and lavender wrap it up in a dark, earthy veil which is just pure seduction and filth.

Lady Vengeance is a confident fragrance, its a definite red lipstick and no BS fragrance, even so, it still feels very wearable in any circumstance i.e the office, etc but personally I wear this when I need to feel like I'm carrying a pistol in my garter or whenever I'm going out.
I get the similarities to Narciso Rodriguez For Her, but I find them to be different enough to each other to justify owning both, NR is all about the sexy skin musk, and Lady Vengeance is all about the filthy, sexy rose.

Such a pleasure to wear, I love it!

Lady Vengeance of Juliette Has A Gun reminds me a lot of the Narciso Rodriguez For Her line. But Lady Vengeance is less powdery, less flowery. More clear. The patch smells chique and is wonderful balanced. I love it. I am curious for Vengeance Extreme and I can't wait to experience the difference.

EDIT: The freshness of Lady Vengeance is wonderful. The patch so well balanced. And the rose so clear. Lady Vengeance is a powerful fragrance. So elegant and refined. A few drops will do. Light as a cloudless sky but with roots anchored in the ground. I think thats one of the differences with Narciso Rodriguez For Her. Lady Vengeance is not just a lady, she is a classy, more mature woman. A woman that is also proud of her masculine aspects. She's not just a passionate flirt, but someone you have to deal with when she crosses your road.

I love how Lady Vengeance settles on my skin. I love her drydown even more. I know that there are beter, much better, combos with rose-patch-vanilla. Maybe stronger, longer lasting and with a better quality of brand or ingredients....BUT still: I am impressed.

I got a sample of Vengeance Extreme. To me Vengeance Extreme is not a stronger version of Lady Vengeance, but a perfume with another personality. Not bad at all, but a bit overwhelming. Where I am the one that wears Lady Vengeance, Vengeance Extreme is the one that wears me. O dear, that's too much.

Bummer on this long awaited blind buy, I didn't think it would smell THAT much like Agent Prov. Dare I even say that AP is a bit rougher and raunchier which I like. ;)

Ok, my skin drydown (inside elbow) is kinda cool. It's totally morphed from cold patch rose to soft patch rose vanilla powdery musk. But I'm sniffing up close, way up close. It's only been about two hours. :( however I did a very small first squirt from a new bottle and sillage was huge for about an hour.

This is still risky, like AP. I will do a full on skin wear soon because that drydown is nothing like AP and I l like it!

Lady Vengeance flirts with edginess while remaining polite; it's more velvety magenta than black, and if it's rock, it's poppy and in a major key. The ambroxan keeps things airy and clean, and the overall composition is sweeter than the notes might suggest. It's a lovely and versatile scent, but those expecting something darker and dirtier might be disappointed. The same house's Mad Madame, with its metallic and animal edge, is closer to what I would have imagined from something called "Lady Vengeance".

Petula009

It is a classic rock concert scent to me. Smells really sexy and confident, not girly or feminine, but womanly. For all rock girls who are searching for a scent.
Vibes:rock, leather, confident

I dont like it. I guess I just dont like this brand...its barely there, a bit dead flowers a bit ambroxan and some chalk. But its barely perceptible. If you like these, fine with me but Im not a big fan of the Juliettes Ive smelled.

I think it's funny how there's such a fine line between the scent of vintage sex bomb and Nanna's pot pourri-d undie drawer / funeral home.
Lather yourself in musty, dusty rose on steroids with eith Lady Vengeance or Agent Provocateur (much cheaper!) and people will either want to shag you or ask for a cup of tea.

Konga5000

Should be called "Lady Safe With Cheap Tea Rose" . This "brand" is a sham, a shame and a scam.

Bulgarian rose explosively at the beginning. It continues long and is a Lady's symbol, but not a vengeance. I'm not impressed, it's not my scent, maybe because I'm a Bulgarian, and that's what I know from a child's fragrance of rose. Pleasant feminine gentle rose, which completely silences all other ingredients. I only feel the aroma of rose oil. I will not buy a full bottle.
