Mon Numero 8 by L'Artisan Parfumeur is a Floral Woody Musk fragrance for women and men. Mon Numero 8 was launched in 2011. The nose behind this fragrance is Bertrand Duchaufour.

Mon Numero 8 is a very elegant scent of powdery iris, jasmine and musk. Supremely chic. Mon Numéro 8, with its luxurious mood, is like a cashmere stole draped over the bare shoulders of a lady one evening at the opera.

Available as 100 ml EDP.

I am a fan of LA scents, I enjoy many of them - Fig, Patchouli Patch, the original Vanille (vintage), and Mure et Musc. This was nice to wear, but not ground breaking and not long lasting. In comparisin, I own vintage Chanel No 19 (edt and edp), Le Labo Iris 39, Shiseido Murasaki. This was nice but not full bottle worthy.

The opening note appears to be very sharp, aromatic, and kind of lavender-like. I was convinced there was some lavender in this and was surprised to find that it's not included in this composition. This initial sharp note dissipates very-very quickly (2-3 minutes) then promptly transforms into a rather soft musky iris. I have to say that the only thing that puzzles me and keeps me wanting to continue testing this perfume is the quick transition from that strong opening note, which I found to be rather prominent, to the close-to-skin iris, which is much softer. In my (albeit limited) experience, this transition is normally much more gradual. In this case within a minute(I'm not exaggerating) it goes from an aromatic cologne-y cloud to a barely there skin scent. Other than this peculiarity, I've found nothing else to write home about as the fragrance is mildly pleasant but forgettable.

Не прилича на никой друг. Това е едно от съкровищата ми, които не деля с никого.

I finally got hold of a bottle of MON NUMERO 8, and what can I say?, it's indeed a descreet formulation, with a green opening, sort of aldehydic green apple that gives the formula a creamy/body lotion facet which fades out in about 15 min, then the iris blossoms without screaming, a simple "cold" iris, or better, part of the iris accord, the fluffy powdery-talcum aspect, nothing to do with the dried orris rhyzome. I can smell a particular green/transparent/bitter molecule I encountered in other fragrances, like in Mona di Orio VIOLETTE FUMÉE. Lots of ionones in here. The transition into the sweet musky bottom notes is very slow. I don't think this fragrance has no longevity: I sprayed it in the evening and the day after I could clearly smell it on my wrists. I can see this N.8 perfect in wintertime, on cloudy and cold days. Nor the masterpiece of the century, neither a disgrace.

Since there are so few reviews for this fragrance I thought I should contribute, even though it won't be staying in my permanent fragrance wardrobe.

It's a pretty fragrance - very soft and elegant. I don't get any jasmine on my skin, but I came for the iris and that IS present, though not in large amounts. It's mostly powdery and quite soft - the initial spray reminds me a little bit of Le Dix, but less complex, more discreet and without the aldehydic buzz. The fragrances are definitely different, but similar in 'feel' (so you could, in theory, have both - though if I had to choose, I'd absolutely take Le Dix). The drydown is pleasant but not very distinctive - a pastel wash of powder and musk. And it's definitely a skin scent after the first 45 minutes or so; even before then, the sillage is soft. Many people complain about the lasting power of L'Artisan fragrances - I've never had a problem, except with this one and L'Ete en Douce, both of which completely disappear on me within about 2-3 hours (longevity is better on fabric, but still comparatively brief). This isn't necessarily a deal-breaker, but since they're not inexpensive, it's a shame to have to keep spritzing.

Overall, it's a nice scent but it wasn't distinctive enough for me. It might be worthwhile for those who really love powdery iris scents - others can find a more unique fragrance elsewhere.

EDIT: I initially found this scent somewhat forgettable - or so I thought - but somehow I found myself thinking about it and ended up buying a bottle - twice! ;) I don’t know what it is about this scent, but something makes it very wearable (a view that’s shared by several perfume bloggers whose views I respect). Iris lovers should snap it up, if they can!

I consider this type of fragrances useless, they do nothing for me and nothing on other people around me as well.
The case with "Mon Numero 8" is that it basically smells like - nothing? I do get the lipstick iris, but soon it's simply a clean musk, close to skin and dissapears with 2 hours. I cannot comment on the price tag as I haven't had the luck to find it anywhere online (I'm usually curious of how much this kind of stuff goes for). Nevertheless - it does not matter, I don't consider this worth any sort of price tag as I think this would be a complete waste of shelf space. There are for more interesting and better creations out there.
