Karma by LUSH
(Store test, Skin test)

"Karma is my boyfriend
Karma is a god
Karma is the breeze in my hair on the weekend
Karma's a relaxing thought
Aren't you envious that for you it's not?"

Sorry, I just can't stop singing this song in my head when I read the name.
I wish I could love Karma as much as how I love this song.
But Karma go in other direction that I am not sure.

I can't say Karma is Patchouli scent, it is more Woody-Green from my thought.
Karma opening weirdly on my skin It is kind of Citrusy burnt incense something.
As Karma walk further almost the base, Karma smell more beautiful.
The little Tangy Patchouli with support element smooth, elemi - sour balsamic touch.

I am not sure, truly not sure. I like my Patchouli a bit more Ambery or go full route to Woody. This is sort of middle. But I think I could give this 7/10 only..

G0rebloom

Orange marmalade soda with a menthol hit. A little like brushing your teeth and then drinking orange juice, but in a way that is less bad. It's loud, it's dramatic and it's syrupy. It gives me a headache sometimes if I breathe it in too hard. It shouldn't work together and it kind of doesn't, but it still exists. I actually really enjoy it for the clashing energy!

ZekaChi

Smells exactly like Karma soap, which is an invigorating, sunshine-filled scent.
Neroli-cola? Yeah, I can see that.

This comes with a caveat: what is great as a scent for washing, might be a bit too much as perfume, so...
I like the scent, but I don't know whether I like to wear it for prolonged periods of time, project it, etc. 🤷

Still happy I got it, though :) .

Edit: It's been 4 hours and it's already pretty much gone, and it was just a skin scent an hour and a half ago. Huh.
Usually even Lush body sprays have amazing longevity, so I'll have to test it again, my skin might be extra hungry today.

mrluctoretemergo

I like to call it Neroli-coca cola because that´s what it smells like to me. Great when you´re feeling a bit bohemien or alt-y. Good one.

perfumekiwifigorange

First perfume I fell in love with. No headache and it is so great with my body chemistry. Doesn't last as long as I wish it would but it is so infinitely wearable on me. Spring, summer, autumn, winter, doesn't matter. It isn't sweet or synthetic at all, the lavender/pine/elemi gives it so much richness and mellows the initial bursting orange scent. On me it becomes feminine and pretty after a while, musky and sexy with a hint of orange sweetness. For a young woman, finding herself. Good for people who love astrology, incense and exploration.

raindrops-katamari

"Take a trip to London in the 1960s as clouds of groovy patchouli mingle with uplifting Brazilian orange and Siberian fir needle oils"

Never has a better description been given for a fragrance. I adore this. Feels like a joyful, carefree springtime walk down Portobello Road. Reminiscent of hippie shops and artsy cafes. A fragrance for the free-spirited city slickers. A delightful combination of orange blossom, nag champa and a hint of warm cinnamon. Timeless retro. I would wear this fragrance every day if I could, but I want to save it for my happiest days.

Sweeeperswell

Conjures images of sticky amusement park pavement floors. Smells like mr. clean and piss. Decidedly not for me. The orange is like a creamsicle but that pine is so sharp it's like furniture polish, and there is even an ammonia like scent. The dry down, hours later, is more tolerable and it softens to a woody dusty scent, but still not something I enjoy.

Odor Aeternitatis

this smells like gummy candy but in a good way. The scent is unique and the lavender and orange mix very well together, which creates something very unique. It's worth trying.
7/10

parvatishallow

Sampled Imaginary Authors' 'Sundrunk' and ended up full bottling this after sampling in store due to a reviewer here comparing the two.

Karma shares a similar 'fizzy' quality to Sundrunk that I really enjoy. It's a deeper orange fragrance with an emphasis on some crackly woodsy notes that help contribute to that soda esque quality. Most Lush perfumes have a medicinal quality to them that I feel works better here than in others I've tried in passing.

This is not a very accurate or close dupe for Sundrunk, simply due to how unabashedly bright and sparkly Sundrunk remains in its fleeting performance. However, it's a good fragrance individually and I'm excited to get use out of this. Very unisex, could see this being worn all year around. Lush have really interesting approaches to fragrance.

elfwizard69420

reminds me of my mom taking me to the health food store as a kid but also in this scenario i stole a juicy orange and ate it.

mea194

Wow I have smelled this many times in my life and not even known. As soon as I smelled this I was hit with a wave of nostalgia from being in various alternative clothing stores. I am sure this is a common scent people have worn around. It smelled like a clean citrus and yet the patchouli is strong. Smells a little like incense without the smokiness. The clean smell is quite surprising and it’s pretty bright even though also kind of woodsy. There is not sweetness in it at all that I can smell nor florals. It is not my kind of scent personally but I can appreciate it on someone else for sure. I believe it can become overpowering if worn too much because it’s strong and pretty in your face. The smell profile seems to be the same from the start to the end and very much what you smell is what you get for the rest of the time.

Shalimar24

I had Karma for a while on the recomendation of a friend who worked at Lush and knew that I loved Lust. So here's the thing - as much as I liked this scent with the orange and patchouli, it was a little too hippie vibes for me and less feminine than the perfumes I usually like. This is a perfume to wear camping at Bonaroo. This is a perfume to go on a roadtrip in a packed car in. This is a perfume to backpack through Europe. However, it's not a perfume, in my opinion, to come into your own. Though abstract, this is a perfume that's very on the nose with the patchouli and a bit sarcastic or obvious in some contexts. I would buy again for the memories as a college student, but probably not to use regularly as an adult.

fishies

i have the balm perfume and it’s amazing. nice orange soda-ish sweet scent. it smells very uplifting and the balm lasts ages! i love patchouli so that note is very nice to me, but not for people who don’t enjoy patchouli scent.

bouchardo

An unwearable yet addictive urine bomb

JanaBanana

This scent blends so amazingly with my chemistry, it's definitely my signature scent. It's warm, sensual, spicy with phenomenal sillage and projection. Absolute compliments getter!

Beacon631

If you like Patchouli then this is for you. I was reminded of this today because I tried Givenchy’s L’Interdit intense. G’s is sweeter and perhaps a better interpretation. If you like original Patchouli then you will love Karma. If you think Patchouli is too strong a note then not so much. If you get the Karma version then try to use it up. I milked mine and the scent has changed.

Gramlin

I want to like it because Lush is an expensive brand here in Japan, but the heavy citrus opening is a no for me. I like the dry down, though.
Maybe it needs some time to 'age' in the bottle?

BGBG

Medicinal, spicy, cold patchouli. Pine forest with patchouli carpet.

amethystfeline

accidentally took the cap off this guy and subsequently bombed my apartment— typical lush potency times two for this scent, but maybe that's because my bottle is a few years old and only getting stronger with time. it's always read as more citrus than patch for me, but kind of a sexy heady citrus, which probably indicates the patch is just well-blended and giving the zest some extra weight. this is reserved for outdoor activities because by god does it perform. i feel bad wearing it indoors, honestly. i'll be on the train and it's like i gassed everyone with a sexy pomander. i love her. if you need to cover up weed smoke, this is the scent for you both practically and aesthetically.

szabó.hédi

I totally see why this perfume has so many mixed reviews. It’s very unique like most Lush scents. I first fell in love with the soap, it filled the whole bathroom with this bright but somehow retro scent, I also get the hippie vibe associated with Karma and now that I read the reviews I realized I also smell some kind of soda-ish scent in it, that’s what makes it so bright and happy. You will be noticed wearing this perfume I guarantee that. It’s confident yet funky, long lasting and unisex. Not for everyone, depends on how it smells on the skin but I love it so much!

professionalpansy

the best way i could describe the top notes of this scent is being high as fuck, burning incense hoping it's covering the smell of weed (it is not) and you're drinking room temperature orange soda. and i say this as a high compliment, pun intended. i literally just put it on so i have no idea how it'll continue to smell but i don't care, i'm literally in love with this perfume. 100000000/10 <3

edit 6 hours later: i've realized that the soda scent comes from the pine and it does vaguely remind me of pinesol but i love it. also the scent is STRONG, it took 4 hours for the massage bar to wear out the citrus scent and leave the earthy pine behind. i showered before the fragrance itself could do the same. also, i really love the final leg of the perfume, it's earthy and herbal. almost spicy even. i would love a version of karma without the citrus, or even less. my previous rating still stands though

giuliatrapletti

a gorgeous scent that could have well been made in the 70s. the patchouli, pine note and lemongrass combined together make a very hippie-like scent. basically, this is what I imagine woodstock to smell like lol.
the sillage is veery persistent and the quality of the ingredients is brilliant, so be careful with how much you’re gonna spray - you’ll literally smell it all day long!

Orcadorka

I was gifted the small solid perfume and absolutely loved it. Thought it smelled a lot like walking into a lush shop full to the brim with fizzy bath bombs, if it was located in the middle of a deep pine forest on a sunny day after a night of rain. It also lasted 4-5ish hours on my skin. When I tried the spray perfume I initially recoiled and asked myself if it was the same fragrance. Very boozy and alcoholic. Way too sharp for my liking. On the dry-down, it began to smell a bit more like the solid perfume with a more aggressive edge to it. It was almost masculine to my nose. It started to smell much nicer when the cinnamon began to blend in with the pine, but it didn't last too long. Overall it only lasted about an hour before it had faded entirely. Disappointed.

Vape

We took a bar of Karma soap (it was a gift) on our Honeymoon to the Maldives.
It reminds me of that just maried glow and of taking outdoor showers suspended over the Indian Ocean and looking into the clear blue sky.
The long and short of it is that I am HEAVILY biased, so do not take anything subjective from this review!!!
However, as others have said before me, Karma has an incredible ability (I imagine this is partly down to its potency) of instantly transporting you somewhere else, and for that, it will always be incredibly special to me.

SammyIX

Nasty. Toilet cleaning product scent. I can't smell anything apart from cheap and sharp, almost rancid citrus. Maybe the tester was bad but oh my I never want to smell it again.

alien2002

i really don’t get the hippie scent from this at all. for me, the most distinct notes are the citrus, cinnamon, and pine that come together to create a warm and flirty combo. it’s really delightful but i can understand this not being for everyone- lush perfumes and body sprays are crazy strong! oddly enough, i like the karma solid perfume a smidge more. it’s great for layering with other warm + musky florals!

acnicolov

This is one of my favourite perfumes ever. It unites three of my favourite scents: patchouli, orange, and lemongrass. I love it because it reminds me of the head shops I used to visit in high school. Very hippie, very bright. It gives me an instant boost.

fedexbaby

i looooooove karma so much. pine is one of my all time favourite scents, along with cotton candy/marshmallow/bubblegum. to ME this is what karma smells like. top note of orange with a candy-like pine and this almost marshmallowy powdery base, which i know doesn't make sense given the notes but maybe it's just my skin (or my lack of fragrance knowledge lol). one spray is more than enough, its strong without being overpowering or nauseating.

beta-ionone

I'm not understanding the notes on here unless I have the wrong product. This is a very hippie smelling perfume. It's not bad; it smells like root beer or a cola-flavored soda with patchouli and myrrh or something.

Unrelated but THIS is what I felt that Dana Tabu should have smelled like. Instead it's very powdery. I appreciate that Karma doesn't have a strong powder smell. Lush has good scents.

SimpleButch

Strong cheap synthetic orange candy. Has one single note and never develops. I feel like most of the people in comments who like it, like it for specific memories or on specific people. As a person with neither, its longevity was mostly a curse.

Moondance13

Karma was a blind buy for me based on reviews here as I wanted a proper "hippie" perfume and I am so pleased with my purchase. Again, as so many Lush perfumes, this is not for everyone. You have to be quite confident perfume wearer and be OK with it that your perfume most likely will not be complimented by others. Karma is very unique scent and Lush has managed to bottle just what they say - the swinging 60s (or what I imagine it smelled like). It's odd, it's funky, bit smells like lemon cleaning product...but it just makes sense!

largesizeman

my dad has basically every karma product from lush, and he is far from a fragrance connoisseur. he understands the appeal regardless.

my mom also loves the smell of karma, and she IS a fragrance connoisseur. i got her to smell the pot i picked up from lush for the winter the other day, and she told me it reminded her of her extensive past with lush and the days she used to spend at the flagship store back in the 90s.

my parents are divorced. the one thing they can agree on is that this perfume kicks ass.

LadyLillou

Although the guys at the store disagree with me, I do believe there is a difference in the concentration between the 30 and the 100ml bottles, with the 30ml being the stronger one. I have used Karma for more than a decade now, and I was excited to buy a 100ml, only to be disappointed by its performance. My small bottle was a BEAST even after multiple years, whereas the big bottle seemed to be really toned down, and almost completely lost its strength after a while. I am now wondering if the commenters below who complained about the performance also got the big bottle?

violetgum

Both the liquid and solid are my partner's signature scent. It drives me crazy. I feel so lucky to associate him with such a beautiful and divine scent. It's playful, it's sunny, but it's also dark and so sexy. As a color it's a dark translucent amber, and the orangey glowing shadow it creates when sunlight passes through it.

Its been a few months since I've seen him, but the scarf he knit for me last time I saw him still smells like Karma. One whiff is all it takes for me to feel held by him again.

Longevity is eternal on fabric.

CassidySmells

Addictive. Citric but somehow still heavy and grounded. Just wish it was stronger, like the soap.

kestrele

I received this as a gift. I really enjoy the smell even though it's not normally what I go for in a perfume (I usually use sweet scents, like gourmands, vanillas, florals, etc). I think this is what I'd like my room to smell like rather than my body, but I still really like it! It smells like bit of citrus at first, a high quality incense as it dries down, and ends as an extremely long lasting patchouli scent. That's just my personal experience with it, though.
I used a single spray right after opening it, and it lasted on me for the entire day!! At first it was intense and smelled like a cleaning product (floor cleaner?? disinfectant? not sure), but it quickly settled into a nice incense-y scent. At the end of the day I was feeling a little sick, which was completely unrelated to the perfume, but my headache and nausea were aggravated by the patchouli... So I washed the shirt I was wearing and showered. But the next time I wore the shirt, it still smelled like the perfume!! And it wasn't even just when I put my face into the shirt-- I smelled it the whole time I wore it. It lasts FOREVER. I feel like I will never ever ever need another bottle because it is literally eternal.
Anyway, I think you'll really love this perfume if you love incense. I personally think this would be great for layering. I'll be trying my vanilla perfume oil with it. I also recommend trying a smaller bottle rather than a large bottle because of how insane the strength and lasting power is!

LanaDelSlay

Tried this and it had this sesame kind of background. 60s hippy vibe for sure but I like that???? But not sure a lot of people would enjoy it. It’s not super herbal but amber/sesame, hard to explain.

Kinda strong but I didn’t check if it lasts a long time

pantburk

This just isnt for me no matter how hard i try to like it. Bright, spicy and delicious at first but so heavy on the orange and citrus that it eventually drowns out everything else. Gave me headaches.

krishlei

For some reason theres a note in here that almost gives me a headache in the initial spray--which is a shame because I LOVE the dry down on my skin. I can't tell if its the orange or the seemingly secret ingredient labelled "perfume" at the top of the ingredients list. Performance wise this is my only perfume lasts the whole day on me, even when I get rained on and wind blowing on me on a motor bike my boyfriend can smell me from the front seat with just 1 spray lol. It's herbal, woody, spicy, dark, and very hippie. This is so nostalgic for me though, when I was 19 and living in Manila I used to walk around malls eating ice cream and just sniff everything at a Lush store.

ihughes123

I just bought a vintage bottle - the half moon bottle with the gold cap. It’s a lot richer than the current sunnier version. It’s actually surprisingly a bit more opium/cinnabar that the current version. I think it’s been toned down over the years. I think the current is still great though. For some strange reason I feel that people who wear this would be both interesting and kind. Maybe it’s because Lush staff are always so friendly, accepting and helpful? Anyway a great retro choice for the inner 60s hippie in all of us.

tterekhova

Karma is heavenly! I love this original scent. Sexy to the point of primal instinct. I love this new packaging.

drakelito

It's pleasant, but not as a fragrance. I want my bathroom to smell like this, either from a bath bomb or candle (which they sell both of of this scent)

Ground hound

Really heavy, warm, intoxicating, spicy.
I like the old-fashioned vibe created by the vintage lemons enforced with lemongrass.
Which are then soaked in sugary patchouli with a pinch of cinnamon. There is some sweet resin too.
I have a collection of conifer trees but I cannot smell any pine here whatsoever. Or lavender.
Probably because it is overpowered by other notes.

Overall: nice combo, nice layering, nice relaxing/SPA vibe.
If you are not afraid of perfumes with a strong character, go for it.

Spookysocks

They just opened a Lush store in my town and it was so exciting to finally smell all of the stuff and figure out what I like!!

I would say it’s suitable for every season but spring, because it’s a little heavy, and you could get away with it in the late summer because it has sunny vibes, but it is also strong enough to survive the colder months.

A friend of mine wears Lord of Misrule often and I thought it was just so good, so I had high hopes for this and it didn’t disappoint. It’s a really nice combination of orange-y, spicy freshness (which I usually hate), and earthy patchouli, it’s so warm and comforting! If you don’t like patchouli I don’t recommend this, but if you do it is everything and more!

sophiebebe

honestly you either love it or hate it but it's so distinct and unique

jrhaltom

This fragrance was what made me fall in love with lush back in 2013. The orange perfectly compliments the patchouli and makes for such a refreshing scent. On my skin, the pine is also very notable and adds a green note that is perfect. I've recieved so many compliments from this scent for the past decade and its a staple in my collection!

samjonesdiary

This is a pretty straightforward scent for me- opens heavy on the orange, then settles into something bright and spicy with a hint of patchouli smudginess. Doesn't take me anywhere specific but I don't need it to! Works great as a day to day. I have a solid and use it under A Single Wish by Filigree and Shadow to make up for the lasting power of a water based perfume. Ol reliable :)

LeighaCece

Not for the faint of heart, this perfume performs like a beast. I get a slightly sweet orange blossom scent that’s grounded by the patchouli and pine - it has an incense type feel to it, like a high quality hippie incense before it’s burned (there’s no smokiness). Makes me want to buy an old Volkswagen van and road trip somewhere warm and sunny and dance on a beach wearing a flowing silk sundress, with bangles on my wrists and crystal gemstones around my neck while blasting Stevie Nicks from an old stereo. If you’ve seen American Horror Story Coven, I feel like it’s totally a perfume that the witch character “Misty Day” would have worn. 🔮

Bordo

Love it so so so much! It it super loveable, even my boyfriend loves it and uses a Lush Karma soap. It is suitable for any occasion in any weather. In cold it will give warmth, in heat it will make you feel special. This is certainly a scent of it's own kind. It does not remind of anything else. Blended to perfection, I don't expect for anyone to point out that they feel orange or patchouli or pine specifically, rather it is a beautiful integral scent. If I try very hard I could say that I smell patchouli, cinnamon, pine, orange, resins. But this perfume is not those notes. It is itself, the Karma.
It is rich, versatile and beautiful. And it gives cool hippie chick vibes, in the best way possible. Perfect longevity and sillage, performs very well. Only cannot wear it too frequently as my nose goes scent-blind on it. Also, cannot spray too much of it directly on ny skin, as it is a bit sensitising.

FirstSense

I absolutely cannot understand some of the reviewers here complaining about the performance of Karma. I just received a 30 ml bottle as a birthday present and I am overwhelmed by the enormous potency of this lovely Lush classic. I sprayed just one little amount on a paper strip to test it again and my entire room smelled like orange oil and patchouli. The molecules were still in my nose in a room a floor lower. Just amazing. Karma contains natural raw materials and the orange oil and patchouli are the dominant notes. The other notes give color to the composition in a subtle way. Lush Karma reminds me of these typical Chinese stores I frequented very often decades ago. Such good memories and I also remember these hippie shops where incense and patchouli filled the air. I love this smell and I really want to be surrounded by these precious memories captured in this little bottle. This is also a fragrance for a very beautiful older lady with roots in the sixties wearing beautiful coloured cotton and silk clothes offcourse made with sustainable materials. Her hair smells like henna and natural coconut. And her perfume is Karma. You can still see the twinkles of stars in her beautiful eyes that reminds you that real beauty is timeless. Karma is love for me.

amirmumtaz

Not sure what people are complaining about, this one performed on me like a beast.

km1266

I didn't expect to like this because I hate orange but I'm pleasantly surprised! The orange isn't too sharp or zesty, it's actually refreshing and sweet. There's a pine, incense smell as well. This is a fresh, uplifting hippy scent that isn't heavy on the patchouli. It's a really unique and addicting scent, I couldn't stop sniffing myself when my friend let me test this. It really is reminiscent of the 60s which I love 😎 seriously thinking of getting this

I love the drydown. It's got a sweet, powdery warmth - not unlike LoM which is my favourite Lush perfume. Sometimes I gravitate towards Karma when LoM feels too heavy and smoky.

scnova

This has been my favorite scent for almost a decade. I used to buy the solid version in high school. If you like smelling like a super sexy hippie but don't want to smell like you've bathed in incense or patchouli, you'll love it.

TaniaClamp

Does anyone know what they have done with the last edition, the bottle with black cap and white label! It smells nothing like the previous edition. I am so disappointed!! Karma is one of my absolute favorites and now it's gone 😥

Bauerjess

Probably my favorite scent of all time! It's hippie but super fresh. It's intoxicating to me. It made me fall in love with this brand many years ago. I cannot get enough of this.

Jessie.FragranceForAll

Not a review:

Am I the only one who wishes that Fragrantica would update a fragrance’s photo to feature the most current bottle? Or maybe roll out a site update that shows bottle evolution over time if there aren’t separate records for reformulated versions? I like the clean and consistent bottles that Lush has rolled out in recent years and would love to see that new look as the feature image.

TabledThoughts

I love this stuff!
Reminds me of the old school head shops circa 60's/70's.

Orange oil and lemongrass predominate in the foreground with patch and fir notes supporting quietly in the background.

Makes me totally happy when I wear this.

death

I have to preface this by confessing something, I love citrus perfumes. I've tried an overwhelming amount of citrus from every genre of scent, yet I always return to this one. It's definitely orange, yet it's not overwhelmingly bright or zesty. There's something really balanced about this, it's not a neon orange sign, but the orange of an adobe building. It's sturdy, comforting, but still retains some of that uplifting nature from the citrus. I can see anyone wearing this as well. Gorgeous!

fiber1062

selling a full 1 fl oz bottle, if interested please DM!

francesca_

Love love the smell of this! Orange and a massive hit of patchouli, smells natural and incense-y. The old formulation of the solid perfume (the metal tin with old artwork) is the best, closely followed by the spray. The current solid formulation is a miss, doesn’t last long - Lush bring out a bunch of products with this scent you could layer it with though.
It’s probably not a safe blind buy/gift, I know a lot of people who aren’t a fan, maybe it’s the patchouli in it. But you have to smell it at least once!

Iloveperfume51

My husband as well as others I know can’t stand this smell but I adore it. I have been wearing it since I was 15 and it reminds me of my mom as this was the only perfume she owned and used to wear. It’s hippyish but unique and I think it totally suits my personality. Lush really are so phenomenal at creating scents they are so underrated imo. This scent to me is balsamic and lemongrass patchouli it sounds like a weird combination but it is amazing they go together very well 🤗

simplecreative

I like this patchouli scent, but it didn't last long.

frances.1

I love this perfume. As I have become older, it suits me more and more.

Moondance13

This was a completely a blind buy for me. I already had few Lush perfumes (quite unusual scents) and despite of reading reviwe how Karma smells like "lemon cleaning product" I took a chance on it. Love at first smell.
Now, Karma definitely is not for everyone. It is very unusual scent. If incence stick don't appeal to you, then Karma is not for you. As with Lush description, it really takes me to a journey what I imagine 60's would've smelled like. I get a "hippie den filles with incence stick smell" and I absolutely love it. Karma is most certainly worth of trying but in my opinion it falls on the category "you either love it or hate it".

After hearing many great things about this fragrance coming from several sources, I had to pop into Lush and try it for myself.

It starts off with citrusy orange peel, lively aromatics, and a coniferous note, the drydown has deep, sweet resins alongside patchouli oil. Rather than diving headfirst into the resinous, woody direction it retains some of those fresh, aromatic touches. I assume it's the elemi and fir resin, but I am less familiar with these notes.

Very pleasing on first impression. It is dense and intriguing but retains a lightness. Wonderful stuff. I'm amazed something this sophisticated, smooth, & natural smelling is available for such a reasonable price. I need to grab a decant.

massimilianoinquieto

charmae_ateteen

I smelled this in LUSH store several times and initial sprays really get me liking this until it reminded me of the OFF! Overtime Insect Repellant Lotion. :( It ruined the scent for me.

I bought the solid formulation -- most prominent are patchouli, orange, and coniferous notes. The green vibe initially gave my inexperienced nose something similar to mint, although that was probably the citrus sharpness mixing with the herbal lemongrass/lavender. Initially it kept giving me grape soda vibes until I noticed the mustiness coming from the pine component. I really enjoy it, as I was looking for a frag with evergreen foresty smells. It smells like a junction between the woody forests of lorien and a woody incense shop.
Edit: this is now my favorite perfume in my collection!!

Karma is one of Lush's most well-known scents. I have never smelled it before, and was expecting a run-of-the-mill hippie-style cloud of patchouli. Instead, it is an unusual, deceptively complex scent. Equal parts herbal, citrusy, sticky-sweet and balsamic, it indeed has a hippie vibe, but manages to be unusual. It is very well-blended, and it is hard to identify individual notes as a result. It very much resembles cola bottles throughout - the jelly sweets rather than the drink itself.

After a brief blast of citrus, Karma is straight-up cola bottles from the beginning. In an attempt to pick apart the notes, balsamic elemi with its pine-like nuances is present from the very start, infusing the base with amber. The lemon note is fresh and herbal - the use of lemongrass keeps it from cleaning product territory. Lavender comes to the fore as it develops and the cola bottle accord mellows somewhat. Liqueur-like cassis is detectable too, and cinnamon adds sweet spice, contributing to the cola effect.

As it dries down, the pine accord becomes more prominent - woody, green and aromatic. A cloud of patchouli adds earthiness, tempering the stickiness nicely, adding to the herbal quality of this scent. Sillage is moderate and longevity is long-lasting. It is a year-round scent.

Unisex despite the sweetness, Karma is an olfactory artwork rather than being a wearable scent. It is pleasant overall, and comforting in a Proustian manner, being evocative of childhood memories for me. Ultimately, the Karma is good. 4/5.

Karma's not a perfume I liked at first. But after trying it at the store a few times, I somehow fell in love with it. It's super sticky sweet and citrusy at first, almost too much. The pine and evergreen notes are also present right up front, and yes soapiness. It's complex though, a lot going on here. The drydown is where the patchouli comes to life. I don't usually like citrus notes, but I love Karma somehow! My main problem is the longevity, which is just a couple hours on me, making it not as good value.

Kstev77

Hell, I smell like a hippie when I wear it but I love it anyway! This is potent, rich and very, very patchouli! However, I wish they would return to the glittery bottle they once used as it looked so pretty and was lovely to receive as a gift.

Skinscents4Fusspots

Just wanted to do a quick update on my 2019 review now that I've identified what Karma reminds me of! I keep going back and buying this and then having to return it because I absolutely love the smell, but patchouli just gives me a headache in perfumes, even this lovely, clean, hippy style patchouli! It's just so fresh but at the same time warm. It also lasts for ages. I could smell this - the most recent formulation fyi - on myself for about 10 hours. Definitely a skin scent after about 6 hours but the staying power is impressive!

Scent-wise, I've always thought this smelt more like cola than most perfumes that actually have cola in, but I've realised that specifically, it smells like (London based company) Square Root Cola.... which is so good but is very heavy on the orange. It's like an orange coke but more natural smelling! So Karma smells like Orange juice and oils with a natural cola, on top of resinous and aromatic greenery, dominated by and incense-like patchouli. mind you the more it dries down the more a creamy sweetness peaks through. I REALLY wish I could wear this because it smells beautiful. I just have to be happy with the shower gel and accept that it's not one I can wear personally.

Peachi3

My boyfriend bought me the solid of this today because the lush employee was too nice to disagree with it smells straight up like cola bottles and incense! Both me and my boyfriend like it and it suits both of us so very unisex! I keep getting the scent of it hours later very nice!

sunshine0101

I have had this gem for a long time in solid form, and body wash sometimes, finally got the spray perfume version. Lovely stuff. I am surprised always how it doesn’t have any incense, coz I smell incense. Regardless of what it is, it’s amazing. Lovely stuff. If you like oriental fragrances, I think you will loooveee this. I love it.

JuicyJes

Herbal, woody, dark, soapy, powdery orange peel. I can pick out the orange peel, pine, lemon grass, lavender, and lemon directly. This is really wonderful and warm. It reminds me of the sweet, sour, powderiness of pixie sticks. No wonder people love this so much, I've been sleeping on Karma for years. YEARS.

sandalwoodandfreshleaves

the opening? smells like a fish oil supplement. but then it's AMAZING it's almost as if I smelled of incense in the best way possible, but also slightly sweet? makes me feel like zoe kravitz as robyn in high fidelity or eve babitz in the 70s, the drydown is worth the wait 🙏

drdgs

I love Karma. Used the soap for years. Lovely warm fragrance due the orange but the strong patchouli can make the perfume itself a bit too much like incense for some. Karma is my go to choice when I am not in a floral mood. Definately agree that it has a soapy element which I like and can be reinforced by layering with the soap and body wash and touching up with the solid perfume during the day (the solid perfume itself is lovely, wears very close and is a lot more mellow).

Madyana

Lots of lemongrass to my nose, spiced with peppery element and smoothed with patchouli. A bit soapy, and not as sweet as many others from Lush. Reminds me of sauna soap, very nice.

Nurse_Ratchet_82

Opens with bright orange oil and settles into a simple and straightforward patchouli. This is a very approachable and friendly scent that is great for the office. Both my husband and I wear this.

Ars Amatoria

This smells like sweet orange essential oil for maybe 30 minutes and then within an hour it smells IDENTICAL to Carmex. It was bugging me because I don't use Carmex and I asked my man if he had just applied some because it was all I could smell, he said he thought I had used it because he also smelled Carmex but no, it was this. Absolutely dreadful. I scrubbed it off the second I got to a sink. This has beat that nasty DKNY Delicous perfume as the worst perfume I have ever smelled, and that reigned supreme for over a decade in my mind.

Evangeline13

A strong unisex scent inspired by 60s Woodstock. The patchouli, orange and pine tree are what stands out the most to me, maybe it's because I have the solid version. The combination of pine and patchouli almost makes it smells like sweat. Very interesting.

smellworthy

A spicy, woody, dirty citrus. Orange note comes on strong at first but then the patchouli and evergreen notes sit in the dry down. Def get the witchy-hippie vibes for sure. I didn't like it at first cus it kinda reminded me of bug spray but its growing on me very quickly, it performs pretty good for a citrus-forward scent and I think it could work great in all seasons.

ingeneuxo

-It's lemongrass alright.
-That's literally the only note I can discern.
-Pleasant enough to smell for 15minutes, but I don't wanna smell like mozzie repellent all day long. (-)

citrinesink

I love it. It’s dirty and sweet.

Stoicchild

This is so strong I gave it to my dad haha definitely an unisex scent. I bought it because it instantly reminded me of Gypsies LOL it's a strong Woody-Orange scent. This may not be for everyone but very therapeutic balmy scent.

KarinaSo

Ive received it as a gift for the first time in 2013, i used all bottle, it just reflected who i am 100%, later i wanted to get it, but ive seen so many comments about changing formula, and in my country there is no lush shops so i couldn't try it so i was hestitating with ordering full bottle again. Finally 9 years later i went to Italy and found it again, it is as i remember it, spicy, citrucy, mysthical, uplifting, energising, it always puts me to the right mood from beginning to dry down, and im happy that people remembers it as my scent, got 2 bottles of this, never separating again ❤️❤️✴️

giantenemykat

one of my favorite lush scents. karma is a little strong going on but it calms down a bit as it sits on you. i’m a big patchouli fan! i was scared if the orange but it actually blends really well.

peachfume

this is one of the only earthy scents i can stand. i am a sweet citrus lover, and this perfume balances citrus perfectly with its spicy notes. i bought the solid perfume at lush for only $15, which is a great deal! my first solid perfume and i’m beyond excited to have it in my collection. can be worn on practically any occasion. a lot of people are saying this is a “hippie” perfume and honestly i agree!

RapolasO

I received a solid tester of this perfume. This fragrance is very warm, blending mild citrus aromas with spices. For some reason it reminds me very much of Christmas, the smell of baking cookies mixed with freshly peeled tangerine or orange. A perfect and heart-warming choice for cold winter days when you want to sit warmly in a cozy café and drink tea.

seraphinwings

Lush is so inconsistent with this fragrance but when it is good, it is GOOD. The best formulas are in the bar soap they cut wedges out of, and the solid shampoo that they (ridiculously) discontinued. (At this point I am almost ready to just quit Lush because of how it seems like they just use fear of missing out to sell their products). I tried their solid perfume and the "Good Karma: Everybody needs some" shower gel and those both smelled off. The solid perfume was wayyy too heavy on the sweet orange, and with the shower gel you can smell "karma" but it has a sickly chemical sweet overtone to it that just ruins it. Ironically I have not tried it in regular perfume form yet but that has to be the purest form.

frangiris

Just purchased this together with Lord of Misrule in the solid. Tested the spray version in store, and it smells wonderful: dreamy, but sharp and upbeat. It would not be out of place in an incense shop. As for the notes: strong citrus and patchouli and an earthy incense-like scent. It has a very strong 70s vibe, but also shares resemblance (not similarity!) to Coco Mademoiselle, although the latter has a strong floral presence to it whereas Karma doesn't. Dreamy, hippie-like, natural yet sharp. Love it.

marigoldmarigold

this is such a hippie scent. it has a 70s vibe to it and the orange beautifully complements the pine notes. it’s sophisticated in a way, i never came across a perfume similar to this one.

Konga5000

I want them to bring back the OLD LABELS !! They really add to the perfumes . Normally I throw out all my old bottles - but I saved my one colorful Karma bottle with a few drops left.

KamBam

I’m not usually a fan of muskier scents or patchouli, but we’ve had some variant of Karma in our house since my husband and I were teens. It’s the only patchouli heavy scent I enjoy and it’s a good one. The main notes I smell are: patchouli, orange, lemon, and rind. There’s a bittersweet note to Karma that makes it really good. I prefer it straight on my husband, but I layer the solid with a jasmine and/or rose perfume to bring more feminine notes to it. (I like Good Chemistry’s Jasmine Rose perfume.) I particularly recommend the solid, as you get creamier notes, it’s not overbearing, and it sinks into the skin. It’s also vastly cheaper to try the solid before purchasing the perfume. I DO NOT recommend blind buying Karma, as it’s a polarizing scent profile, but I do recommend trying a “wash card” from Lush to try the scent. There’s a reason it’s been around for so long.

Sparkleball22

I loved this fragrance long before I knew that I truly am a hippie. It will remind me of incense sometimes but mostly bright orange and pine and patchouli. The blend is refreshing and energetic. Maybe a little intoxicating! I don’t understand why or how such a natural smell could be “offensive” to some people but ok?
Maybe our sensory systems have become so distorted from living in cities and eating lots of refined sugar. Anyway, this solid perfume is pretty great. I had a spray years ago and may have to do that again. I’m not sure the solid stays as long as the liquid. I’ll always be a Karma fan. I hope I’m not offending too many noses by wearing it and indulging my hippie spirit. I promise to shower and wear deodorant!! Peace, man.

babypoison

i dont like it at all , however i do recommend you to smell it in real life, ive never smelt anything quite like it. if u r a fan of citrus and non mainstream perfumes, this may be your thing and even one of your most unique perfume, its demonstrates the feeling of hippie perfectly and is wearable all seasons

nymlaxy

I got the solid perfume and the smell is addictive. It radiates positivity, warmth and freshness. Puts you in a good mood instantly. The perfect hippie perfume :D

fairycoffins

The perfect unisex hippie smell. I was drawn to it years ago for the patchouli, stayed for the orange/lavender/pine. I don’t reach for it often, I have to be in a very specific kind of mood for this one. But when I’m feelin it, oh man… it hits the spot. It makes me wanna buy a VW bus and take my friends hiking or something. Such a bright, sunny, playful scent for people who love life and don’t take themselves too seriously. I’m not sure how old my bottle is at this point, but it still wears well. The longevity is insane. No complaints.

bobross

Love at first sniff! Only on dry down I noticed the patchouli and woodsy notes which made it even better for me! I simply cannot sniffing myself. The only problem I have is the longevity, not up to Lush standards.

Lauraalexandra

I hate the smell of Karma from the bottle and I'm not keen on the orange opening at all but my goodness, the dry down is amazing!
I like honeyed, sticky, sweet, gourmand fragrances classically, but this turned my head once the opening had calmed down. Something nostalgic & dreamy about it.
Unfortunately, silliage and longevity are rubbish. Not sure if its a batch issue or the newer bottles are toned down but I'm sure everyone says this is really strong and I didn't find that at all. Shame as I really enjoyed this when I buried my nose on my arm

mcmillanpoppy

Been through bottle after bottle of this stuff. For me, this is just an absolute classic! Wearing this you never fail to get compliments on it, and all the cool people know exactly what it is! Has major hippie/witchy vibes as it is warm, lively and woodsy. Would definitely recommend having this in your collection is as there is not much out there like it.

Jasmine7

Sunny, fun, and dirty like the Summer of Love. I never realized before but maybe I adore patchouli. This scent is like the interior of the coolest hippie van imaginable and the orange-patchouli combination is honestly magical on hot summer days.

Rav Pahud

am not sure but the opening reminds me of dusty creepy library everytime I catch the scent! The opening smells very creepy, probably the mixture of orange/pine/lemongrass perhaps? The middle/base notes is very very comforting & elegant patchouli ... Mine is solid perfume and it last on skin for 6hrs.

DT953

I have a 12g tin of this that I've held onto for several years that I spur of the moment decided to wear a tiny bit of. I forgot how absolutely magical this scent is. I remember buying it because it reminded me of hippy stores with the burning incense and patchouli oil. Expensive organic teas, new-age clothing, vegan cook books and a store owner who looks like they don't have a worry in the world. I think this captures that head spin you get when you walk into one of those stores. I think that's great. You get mainly orange, patchouli and elemi.

PenelopePitstopKYD

LUSH KARMA (2000-2001): Thought I’d show a pic of the old school bottle (Fragram)... I've had this for over twenty years. It is so good and strong that I use rarely and sparingly!

Back in the 90's and early 2000's I worked for an international company with coworkers from London, England. They introduced Lush's naturally good smelling brand to the Los Angeles office and the rest was history.

At that time, Lush was only catalog mail order, basically "for serious buyers only". There was no running back to the mall to return something you didn't like. Shipping was more than the products themselves.

Needless to say, when shops started popping up in various places around the area I was pleased and my olfactory sense was very happy!

Riverwind79

Went to try this out at the counter. Yes indeed the top notes are really quite spot on and smells good! I can understand what you guys mean by the drydown smells like 'old man's' perfume. It really reminds me of something and now I finally recall, it smells like Guerlain's Habit Rogue EDT!

impressionists

Not safe to blind buy. The opening is beautiful: orange with lavender with lemongrass. It starts off intriguing, light, floral, complex. But it dries down as a sick, cloyingly, over-sweet dessert. It’s the kind of milky candy that makes your throat hurt.

Aromalie

I blind bought and wanted to love this but the dry down smells like old man to me :’(

Cristian Bueno

A citrus bomb that reactivates you in the morning, a very faint orange, like vitamin C that lasts only a few minutes on my skin, then settles, leaving a not so creamy acid linon that lasts and projects about 4 to 5 hours. I have to try it in summer I think it will be a bomb. duration: 6 hrs to 8 hrs wake: medium

PPAN

It gives ONE second of Fanta orange, then turns into mostly lemongrass and pine. Smells very natural and aromatherapeutic, but not the big orange popsicle I thought it would be. But my bottle is a vintage, so I suspect the orange top note has faded with time.

Angekkuma

Fizzy orange creamsicle, lemon bubblegum, incense and new age shops galore. Hippie and ethereal, a scent that instantly makes me feel happy and carefree. A trip to the 70s and a sudden urge to playfully skip through the grass in the summer heat with bell bottoms on. Herbal and spicy, sweet and warm. I love this perfume so much! It’s so fun and rebellious. Something I wear when I’m in the mood to be daring and happy-go-lucky.

Mando

I had posted about this one before. I am wearing this one today and it really gives me a deep sense of calm in an aroma-therapeutic way. I use patchouli soap, not Lush brand, and every time I smell that or this scent, I feel very grounded by this scent. I think I had seen online a version of Karma in shower gel now. It's not called Karma shower gel though. I really need to try that stuff.

Well, I wanted to extol the virtues of this very love it/hate it scent. Thankfully I'm in the love group.

Snoes

Bought the karma gorilla stick years ago, I think in 2014 at the lush store in Venice on the Strada Nova, beautiful store!
There is a littlebit left in it, and it smells after all these years still much better, deeper, then the Karma perfumes now.
I'll stick to the soap now, thats for me the real karma scent ..... and that precious tiny tiny bit left in the gorilla stick .

xvxmatthewxvx

a little bit of that Christmas time bitter orange & clove combo
and a pile of humid moist dirt

UnearthlyApothecary

For some reason, I never thought this one would work in warmer weather, so I’ve never tried it during the hot months but let me tell you, this stuff smells AMAZING in 100+ degree heat. Karma smells like chewable vitamin c, pine-sol and hippie head shop incense in the best possible way. You will either be completely
revolted by it or oddly charmed. It’s still not as polarizing as Breath of God. Fantastic silage and longevity.

olfactorydarling

I just don’t know. Initially I don’t like it because it smells like cheap artificial orange. But then I keep getting the most lovely creamy, spicy, nag champa-like smell wafting up and I love it. It’s not something I’d probably wear out as I feel like it’s a little too young and hippy for me… but something about it’s addicting.

Alces Alces

I have to agree with octobersun's comment below: Karma brings me great joy.

But it's not a great perfume. It smells like a bunch of essential oils in search of a composition; it DOES smell just like the Lush store. Or better yet, it smells like someone tried to make homemade perfume by mixing a bunch of essential oils.
It's obnoxious and unrefined. That being said...the smell lifts me up and lightens my mood without being beautiful. Maybe it's some association or aromatherapy phenomenon. Karma reminds me of Molinard's Musk, at least a little. It has that Nag Champa incense quality. Maybe that is what makes me like it. The smell is not unlike the smell in seventies record stores that were also head shops. Cheap spicy happy smell.

So I don't wear Karma around other people, it's too much like incense and Tang (orange drink). This is one to wear when I am alone or running errands or relaxing at home. Most Lush fragrances are like that, especially Breath of God, that weird smoky rotten melon smell I crave sometimes.

I bought an essential oil on Amazon. It's called Karma and smells exactly like Lush Karma, only it's about 1/5 of the price. Indistinguishable to me, but your experience may vary.

violacolors

It was my signature scent for almost a year (2018-2019). Love this unique scent. Sweet cinnamon + bright orange/citrus. Fresh, sweet, and spicy. A scent that has depth and little heavy. If you remove powder and soap smell from Santa Maria Novella’s Melograno, it smells the same.

redearth_bluemoon

While I can detect all the notes listed, pine, lemon, lavender, patchouli, they are somewhat flattened and muted. The scent, to me, is incredibly sweet. All these complex fruity herbal notes have been mashed together, muffled and the result is smells like chewing on chalky hard candy like Smarties or bottle caps. I actually would not disagree with "orange creamsicle soda pop and nag champa" that also closely describes the experience. When i bought it the salesperson said "it smells like Lush" and so true. If you like the smell of simply walking into a Lush store and want to wear that smell all the time, Karma is that smell. My boyfriend used to wear Karma when he was a smoker, he says it really helped cover the smell. While we did not know each other during that time in his life, I imagine a bit of cigarette smoke might add some much needed dimension and edge to Karma which is otherwise a bit soft.

octobersun

For some reason, wearing this gives me a great joy. I don't smell much patchouli, for me it's a lovely orange melted in warm spices. Really nice one.

goreweaver

My reaction to Karma has been a rollercoaster of extreme loves and hates - it chooses when to be worn. Back in pre-plague times, Karma was the very first perfume of theirs that I took an immediate interest in. I could not take my nose off of it once a friend had given me the cap to taste. All I felt was joyous citrus with a tang of golden-hour woods. I had to have it. But after living with it for a year or so now, I can't say that I feel the same despite wanting to. It's much too overbearing and ashy for young girls. Good choice for those in their mid-late twenties or alternatively, opinionated and subversive university students. My current opinion is neutral on it and I have to really be in the mood to wear it to enjoy the fragrance.

Yet still, Karma makes me think of dusk - just after sunset but not quite veering into the deep blue of night. It's the sixteenth century and she is part-taking in hermitude as she devotes herself to the earth. She is impatient for the first splatter of stars so that she can study their connections with awe and intricacy - but her skin is still warm and lingering of the last red castings of late sun. There is incense on her left and citrus hangings on her right, mingling in the candlelight as it separates her room's orange atmosphere with the fast-approaching night breeze and blue light. She is humming a ritual song in tandem with the plink of her windchime. Swaying side-to-side as she takes out her elaborate braids and ornate pins from her long, wild hair. Little metallic sounds bounce off of her brass monocular as it folds out to accompany her eye. So begins her stellar journey.

Dried lemons and orange, windy lavender, decaying greens, and old, resin-glazed wood.

frangiris

Very nice and intense patchouli scent, in a herbal and aromatic way. I agree with the other reviewers saying it makes me smell like a hippie. Good vibes! Will purchase the solid, next time I can!

Anamandy

Oh no! I just had to wash this off my wrist. It smells like powdered Orange Tang fruit drink mixed with Tide laundry detergent. Oh &%$*# ! This literally flipped my stomach. Yuck!

nebuladirt

I smell like a hippie and I love it. This was a blind buy and I was expecting a patchouli bomb but there's much more citrus, freshness, and warmth to it that I love. Also, it lasts forever on my skin (12 hours later and I can still get a slight whiff of it) and I could still smell it throughout the day through my mask. I'm so glad I took a chance with this and I can't wait to layer it with my other fragrances!

MidnightCallerXx

I love this perfume and have been wearing it for a while now. It's very citrus-y and spicy.
Like any Lush fragrance it's very strong so do not lather yourself with it or risk suffocating people.
When you smell it you feel like you should be surrounded by mandala tapestry and dressed like Phoebe Buffay.

rurufu

Karma (Kream) was my introduction to Lush years back. I went to one of their shops looking for a body lotion. One of their friendly staff showed me their collection and Karma caught my attention right away.
I gave it a sniff and was in love on the spot. A couple of months later I bought the push up solid perfume and a small (black) bottle of the perfume. And the name is spot on btw. By now they're both out of date (3 years) but they still smell as good as on the day I bought them.

icollectfragrance

Got it for my boyfriend and I love it on him so much. He always carries it with him as the bottle is convenient :)

Dkief

Karma is a fragrance with a very big personality. My recommendation (as with all beast mode frags) is to try applying Karma to behind your knees. It drifts up and is rather enjoyable. The silage temps and teases others, instead of flattening them.

Eterna1flame

I will never get over this scent, I’ve been using it for a few years now and every time I smell it I have the same reaction where I have to deeply inhale and I get the chills a bit lol, maybe that is a bit dramatic but it reminds me of childhood. To me, it smells like rain, freshly cut grass, oranges, and root beer.

Decode

This smells EXACTLY like walking into a new age shop where they carry crystals, incense, candles, books, tarot and oracle cards, and have spiritual music playing in the background. Clearly I've gone to too many new age shops. This perfume is definitely an otherworldly experience for me.

ginandrice

Karma starts out like a sweet and woodsy citrus freshie. In fact, early on, I thought it smelled a bit like a more feminine version of Fiero by Xerjoff. That perception was quickly abandoned.

After less than an hour the citrus and woodsy notes both mellow, and the whole thing gets sweeter, becoming almost gourmand. Then, the woodsy and citrus notes fade even further, and Karma begins to smell like Lush’s famous Sleepy lotion: a vanillin-smelling sugar-sweet lavender, backed up by candied citrus and patchouli.

I’m not sure about this one yet, one way or the other. The part that draws me in is the gourmandish lavender—like if lavender could be caramelized in sugar. But I might rather just get that same scent from a tub of Sleepy lotion.

DietCokeHead

This smells like a truck stop restroom that's just been cleaned with heavy duty industrial cleaner. I am not one to be repelled by any perfumes but this one truly makes me gag, there is something about it that is so so off putting.

Trab

Two years ago I was in Bali in Ubud - and there was this shop selling all kind of articles and as well a perfume, I do not recall exactly the name of it but it might have been something like "Bali Club"or something similar. I sprayed it on my wrist and immediately said this is something I smelled before - I left the shop and keep on smelling it, trying to guess which fragrance was similar to it - and after a while guessed it was an exact copy of Lush Karma - a patchouli bomb, something you would easily buy in a Hippy Shop on Bali - I have a small bottle of Karma but I hardly wear it - this is fragrance is a bit too loud for me to wear but I love to spray from time to time some on my wrist in the evening when I watch TV because it doesn't smell bad but it's just not my style of fragrance to wear in the public

Faellen

All this smells like to me is patchouli washing up liquid. I hate the bubble bar, I hate the soap, and I hate this fragrance. I do not understand Karma's popularity. It's incredibly strong, annoying and obnoxious. A scrubber that is hard to scrub off. I wanted to love it, because there's not much I hate from Lush - but I just can't. To me, it just seems like one big mistake.

vanillamoss

This one is definitely an homage to the 70's hippie, but I would dare to say it's almost gourmand! The patchouli in here is slightly vanillic, and when it meets the orange it gives sort of a citrus cake vibe. The pine stops it from being too foody and gives it a fresh break. It's super mouth-watering, and this is one I always get compliments on.

JSpines

It is, indeed, on the powerful side but I don't find it overpowering. Many other reviews on other perfumes have common complaints about scents that are weak with no staying power and many people won't even buy a fragrance even if they like it if they find that it fades too quickly. You will not have that problem with this perfume! This is my favorite scent by Lush. It's a throwback to another decade when peace signs, fringe vests, Volkswagen Vans, afros, pet rocks and tie-dye t-shirts were all the rage. Many people have said that the smell of patchouli is dirty smelling. I don't find that here at all. I find the scent quite fresh, clean and bright. When I wear this fragrance it makes me feel "alive" and full of energy! Definitely raises my spirits and gives off a "cheery" vibe. The lavender and citrus notes are clear to my nose and blend together nicely. This scent lasts all day, and then some! When I woke up and got out of bed, I caught whiffs of it still on my skin 24 hours after the initial application. For those people so interested in fragrances that last and last, look no further, Karma is the one you've been looking for! If I could sum up this scent with one word it would be DY-NO-MITE!!!

GenevaX

I get that this is an ode to 1960s-70s hippies, but it's not quite as literal an interpretation, to my nose, as some other reviewers find it to be - maybe US mall headshops aren't the best approximation of the smell of London bohemia? That's because there's nothing smokey or incensey about it; this is in fact the freshest, brightest patchouli-based fragrance I've ever come across. I agree with @Mando that the most similar scent I can think of is orange cola. Karma is fizzy and citrusy, and the coniferous notes and lemongrass give it a nice tang. This gives way to an uncharacteristically sunny, cheerful patchouli. I don't know if it's a hippy scent to me, but it's certainly blissfully carefree. It's immensely strong, and a single spritz suffices for hours. For me it's not an everyday scent, but it's certainly a fun trip, if not quite of the lysergic variety.

Mando

OMG, this smells like Coca Cola! I love it!
It does dry down to a nice soft and spicy patchouli after the orange notes wears off.
I'm so glad I got this, it has a comforting aura to it.

ViouAmara

It opens ultra fresh, mostly juicy lemon grass with a dab of pine, then comes the creamy patchouli. It’s strong, so take it easy, it’s better just to use the cream or to have a light hand with the spray. But then I enjoy a sweet warm patchouli, strongly connected to an amber tone. The aromatics stand somewhere in the background, giving a tiny herbal aura, and the addition is incredibly comfortable and soothing.
It reminds me somehow Bijou Romantinque ELO.

prot.srimekhanond

I absolutely love this perfume. I can’t even get enough of this perfume. I fall in love with this smell first long long time ago when i walk pass the store and purchase my first soap bar.
Then late lotions. I wait for so long before I decided to buy the perfume version because it’s so expensive here in Thailand. I do not regret buying it at all. I spray it on quite heavy too.
I’m like a LUSH store on a walk. I don’t care if other people might hate this smell; it just sooth me. It makes me happy and keeps me in a good mood.

AndraAmb

I absolutely DESPISE this perfume. Its unfortunate because I am a die hard fan of the Karma scented soap, shampoo and bubble bar. This was a complete and utter miss, every time I attempted to wear it, it gave me a headache and I ended up SCRUBBING it off of my skin (the last time was incredible I will say), it made me sick. It is a nauseating combination of patchouli and citrus, with little to no nuance or sweetness. None of my friends would even take it off of my hands so I tossed this one. Awful.

indigo

Karma smells to me like someone spilt a bottle of (cheap) patchouli oil, then tried to clean it up with some citrus floor cleaner & pine disinfectant from the pound shop, using a metal bucket & a sour musty old mop that has seen better days. No wonder some people hate patchouli, Sorry, but this is just crude imho, I try to be polite, but honestly this stuff is as rough as a badgers arse! It is very distinctive, but not in a good way. I don’t want to smell this ham fisted interpretation of patchouli again....one of my favourite notes, too :( ughh Karma also doesn’t smell like any head shop I’ve ever been in.. It’s vile..I wanted to like this, I really did. As ever this is just my opinion, ymmv.

ETA: Eau de Sisley No3 could teach Karma a thing or two about a great citrus/patchouli combo.

gerjakeszter

I found patchouli so strong in this one that I almost threw up. It smells like my grandma's house, just worst.

Annabear

The Singapore Lush store at Raffles city has quite a good range of fragrances, especially compared with Sydney which seems so limited.
Anyway yesterday I tried Karma, and it reminded me of those incense sticks everyone used to burn in their homes many years ago, a slightly hippie vibe happening. A great nostalgia trip to the flower power ‘70’s but not for my skin.

msajoy

cant stomach it..there is something seriously off putting about this fragrance...its metallic lemony patchouli mix, its like fur stuck in my throat... big pas for me. i wear a lot of daring fragrances...this is not my cup of tea :(

Petk

An absolute favourite of mine, I have worn this frag for years and have owned it in both the spray and solid. There is something incredibly warm and comforting about Karma, and i’ve found it easy to wear day or night, regardless of the season. On warmer days it brings to mind lazing in the sun, dust-motes floating, paisley print and orange tinged seventies vibes. On cooler days it makes me think of shag-pile carpet, incense burning and piles of old books. Fleetwood mac-esque fringed scarves. My only gripe is the bottle-change. I loved the old glass bottle with the glass cap and the gorgeous label - much more Karma’s speed. The new is too sleek, too black.

Isolde2

Karma juxtaposes unacceptable orange against a battlefield of patchouli. It is a flag of self-assertion in a world of being acceptable and fitting in. It is a banner of satisfaction with self regardless of the comfort levels of those around you.

Ye, the orange is off-key and combatative. Yes, patchouli is associated with hippies. And yes, the strong patchouli base is present. As it is in many beloved, more convential and fragrances from mighty houses, not tainted with the association with hippies.

This fragrance smells splendid on a great many people. It reviles many, as well. It is no more assertive than Scandal by Lanvin, though. It completely depends upon chemistry of both the wearer and the noses receiving it. And the emotional associations of both.

It is an olafactory world for someone that knows exactly who they are, and is willing to share it, regardless of the reception or perception of others. The wearer likes who they are, and doesn’t care if others do or do not.

Or, in the words of great Lebowski, “like, that’s just your opinion, man”.

Pense Nez

Blergh. Tried to like this but could never reconcile the bizarre juxtaposition of citrus and patchouli. It left an odd, metallic tang on my palate that I could never ignore, much less enjoy.

tittertat

Wow! Weird and wild. I dunno if I like it or not...its got aspects of almost every scent group but the patchouli+lemon give it a hippie cleaning lady feel. Not that any of the lush products are your typical scents.

Boobybooba

It smells like Woodstock. It smells like your old hippie lifestyle. It smells wonderful but I also heard a guy saying that I smell like alcohol, so there's that.

Andy the Frenchy

Too orange-y/feminine for me, but I've to admit it's pretty unique and addictive.
Very interesting, good job Lush!

Ps: who's the perfumer?

aishmiqru

Oh god it's addictive. I used to keep a bottle by my desk just to inhale it while I worked. It's deep and very sweet.

The citrus in the opening is an almost candied orange, soaking in syrup. I feel this effect comes from the interplay with the resin. In the meantime, you get layers of something clove-like, however, it's probably just the cinnamon and pine playing mind games.

Despite all the herbal notes, the fragrance never loses its warmth. It feels like some pine branches got into the Christmas sweet platter. It works though, it's inviting and homey and has enough greenery for you to fool yourself into thinking it's good for you.

Skinscents4Fusspots

It's interesting to read the other reviews of Karma! I never thought of oranges when I smelt this. I find the patchouli quite strong here, along with a hint of orange and quite a bit of cola! It reminds me of incense sticks in a way too so a very clean hippy smell.

I'm very fond of this scent. I think it's fresh and joyful. I don't get a fake orange smell from it at all. Just a very warm, citrusy cola cube with a woody, patchouli kick :)

latafan

I bought the solid of this a few months ago.

It's indeed not the most refined fragrance. The orange is super dominant, but as many other reviewers pointed out, it is not a natural fresh orange, but a rather artificial one. It took me some time to figure out, but it reminded me a lot of the syrup-y orange flavor of a still unfrozen popsicle. You know those cheap water and syrup concoction filled plastic tubes that you freeze and give to children in summer when they're begging for ice cream? Along with that there is a slight underlying dirty vibe that I guess will come from the patchouli. I can't really perceive any of the other notes.

So that doesn't sound to great, does it? Thing is, to me it actually is. I do like this!

It wears well in hot weather, with the solid having a really good longevity where alcohol based fragrances just up and evaporate after some time. It's positive and there, but it clearly doesn't take itself too seriously.
It's not a scent you will wear to any formal setting or any type of proper 'occasion', but it's something that will put you in an easy going good and chilled out mood. Describing this as a hippy fragrance is really quite fitting.

Personally I actually like to pair this with a whole bunch of fresh but a tad generic designer summer fragrances that i own and use but know I won't necessarily be repurchasing. It gives a sweeter and slightly naughty undertone to what else would be your generic citrus-y summer scent.

datsmellysmell

I purchased the solid because I've read that it smells like hippies.

I don't think I have ever smelled a hippy like this scent.

It's orange-y incence, patchouli scent. Emphasis on orange-y.

I like everything but the orange, but unfortunately it's the dominating scent in the solid.

The orange is a very fake smell - imagine the body shop satsuma but way less fresh, like a stale orange?? Someone said orange lollipop and I kind of agree.

If the orange was nice i would have enjoyed it more.

I have not received compliments on it, I don't feel particularly special wearing it, and if applied too much it's kind of headache inducing. And, i've had it for about a year and I think I've tried it long enough to give my personal verdict.

Please do not blind buy, and please smell it before buying. It doesn't really change over time so whatever opening you smell on the solid is what you'll smell like.

I want to emphasize that this is not a negative review.

This fragrance is a vibe and I need to be in a certain mood/occasion for it. It would be nicely paired in a rainy day, wearing vintage clothes, and listening to a nostalgic music.

tkay8309

Fizzy orange. Lovely

orangecloud

McDonalds fries with an orange ice lolly melting on top.

ronin.jose

I don't get anything else but this sweet, bright, and candy-ish orange smell. It's not an orangey fragrance that is refreshing. This one is too candy-ish, high-pitched and thick to be refreshing. It has the possiblity of being cloying if one would wear this under the summer heat. It smells as if you would melt an orange lollipop. It's just too sharp & high-pitched for my liking. Patchouli is also considered as the secondary or the note partnered with the orange. I haven't smelled patchouli, although I have a bit of a clue based on what I've read. And I'd say that I don't get anything earthy or green about this. I don't get a deep, rich, woody or earthy warmth. Just simple this sharp, high-pitched, bright orange lollipop.

EnglishCountryGarden

Never known a hippie smell like this. Absolutely nasty. Reeks of Aussie Orange cleaner range. I've been around a long time and can tell you what hippies smelled like....Patchouly, Jasmine, Black and White Musk, Frangipanni oil, and apart from an occasional lingering whiff of "Red Leb" (cannabis resin), not much else. We smelled great. Not stinky, or unwashed, we were pretty darned golden. For the life of me I cannot understand why Lush doesn't produce a better range of old favourites and new products. It's all becoming boring and aimed at 13/14 year olds or the totally anosmic judging by the overload of fruit and candy pops. Take a lesson from B never 2 Busy - crafted perfumes, fun presentation. The blackbottles are an evaporative/spillage disaster area. The fragrances either dull or too "out there", as in smelling like an allotment holder's shed. Oh, and please, sales staff, tone it down, perfumistas get very annoyed at your faux knowledge and pester power.

The_Entity

I'm glad I don't detect much lavender in this, because it doesn't usually sit well on my skin.
The orange top note is dominant and lasts throughout. All of the other notes listed gradually come through it.
The smell makes me imagine being in a shop that sells strange things, like dreamcatchers, incense on a summers day with wind chimes in the door frame

elizabeth_chell

I wear it every day. Love it.

justchillinxo

Smells like bubblegum

Kaninen

Happy and fizzy. I only crave this in summertime. Works well on an early bicycle tour on a sunny day.

YouSmells

Love the brand, appreciate what they're trying to do...

But...

This smells like a two-day-old dead hippy.

LeFrank

Karma by Lush has quickly become a favourite of mine by way of the strong sense of nostalgia it triggers. The citrus, green, and wood elements combine to produce a scent reminiscent of my childhood summers. Hot pavement, the aroma of chlorine and sunscreen at the pool, sweet and tart fruit popsicles, evergreens in the sun... it's all in that small, square bottle.

Longevity is excellent at seven to eight hours. The scent will leave a light presence in the air as you walk but is not aggressive.

beemayhem

Sweet orange creamsicle meets patchouli nag champa headshop clouds, with a little lemon zest. Absolutely adore, cheerful and bright and warm.

My5Scents

Happy, warm, friendly and fun. Unlike myself. The orange lifts the patchouli and imparts a sunny, creamy vibe that feels young and carefree. Wearing this fragrance, I always imagine that it’s masked my normally miserable, misanthropic aura and replaced it with a sunny, approachable vibe. It actually drew a compliment from my psychiatrist, which impressed me.

chiczhi

I love the Karma soap. EDP smells the same as if you are always in shower covered in the bubbles. very relaxing and soothing. It is orange but very green, bohemian yet spiritual...All Lush perfumes are unique, unisex. Karma is a relatively powerful one among all. Good sillage. Lasts about 5-6 hours on me. Very good performance.

Jucmorgo

Nice, syrupy but somehow clean orange-pine-incense scent.
Longevity on me is not so good; two hours max. On clothes a half day. Or a day.
I usually mix Karma with Exhale - just to strengthen its longevity.
Update:
in colder weather or when my chemical balance liket it... :D it becomes a wonderful orange-incence-tree scent.
Peace!

Jerry Can

I like Karma soap a lot, but I'm not a user of the perfume. I always recognise the powerful orange oil, pine and lemongrass. It reminds me in different ways of '70s Aqua Manda bath oil, Hermes' Terre and Elixir des Merveilles. When I wore Terre I always bathed first using Karma soap - and it worked incredibly well.

Karma has a retro ambiance for me - which I for one find charming. It seems cheery and ebullient. So, despite having never worn Karma, I don't really agree with its detractors. Seems very long lasting.

annxyz

There are very few scents I have found distasteful . Many I have tried are not my personal style, but most have some redeeming qualities.

I tested this thinking it might have a 60s hippie vibe . I still wonder what ( or if ) the creator had any intention as this was formulated. I tested it in the store and was in literal shock that this product was being sold. Perhaps it is so avante garde that only a select group of culturally erudite and brave souls can appreciate . The kindest thing I can say is that it was terrible to my nose and I can not imagine wanting to smell like the product .

There are many hippie scents that could be created and appreciated by a vast number of people , including me. I wondered if this scent was meant to be some sort of protest or a vehicle to shock people. This one does not fly at all.

ingrid.superstar

This is based on the solid perfume version:

Another Fragrantican recently brought this to my attention -- Karma smells just like the Lush store in general. Maybe that's why I like it so much -- Lush is such a fun, tactile store and going in there just makes me happy.

Karma is a unique scent. This is not to say that's not true of other Lush perfumes -- this is just the one I have the most experience with. Recently I made a thread about finding a dupe and we were all hard-pressed to find a smell-alike.

Karma is primarily orange (a very bright, candied orange), lavender, lemongrass, pine, and patchouli.

Sometimes it smells like cotton candy spun by hippies; sometimes it smells like blue spruce bubble gum. When it dries down, it's just a really pleasant, natural-smelling patchouli, but without the potent, unctuous earthiness of pure patchouli essential oil, for example. There is a hint of cinnamon, which I think makes it sweet and friendlier on the skin than just captial-P Patchouli.

It's a really joyous perfume! I like it in all seasons.

nittygritty

To me it smells like a beekeeper's shed. What a unique scent. Brings back my childhood memories.

chlorodream

Spiced candyfloss! Sugary and orangey with some incense-headshop gorgeousness to fill it out.
For personal taste I wish it had perhaps something to ground it, to make it a little less of an essential oil assault on the senses, but its lack of subtlety is, in a very "fuck you" way, utterly charming.

IkuraGirl

A candy confectionary, a smoothness, a delicious blend of florals and patchouli that lasts and lasts and lasts. Yes: I love Karma. It just smells, however basic this description might seem, yummy. So much so that, after years of using the body lotion, I’ve gone out and bought the perfume. I plan to smother myself in it (not that that is unusual, as I’m generally very liberal in my application).

Paired with the body lotion, in itself a fragrance powerhouse, with a longevity approaching 8 hours, easy, the perfume has fantastic longevity. I also use the solid shampoo bar, which might contribute to the Karma cloud that followed me around today.

Creamy, candied...patchouli... a dreamy mix. A worthy purchase. It’s love, my darlings, love.

vimmel

Hate the opening, love the dry down.
This perfume is perfect for colder weather and darker nights. The opening makes me sick because it smells like hay, horse dung and sharp patchouli. The dry down smells like orange, pine and patchouli. It is very wellblended which makes it difficult to make out separate notes, you'd have to read about it to know what's in it. It's a bit sweet and intoxicating on me as if it was a bubblegum. Longevity and projection is amazing. Small bottle will last you forever. I recommend putting it on 1-2 hours before going out so that nobody gets to smell the bad opening.

zenbabylove

The reviewer below has it right!!! I have been wearing karma and vanillary for 5 years.I would love to see a solid perfume rendition of Sleepy cream! That said,I love Karma for its vibrancy and citrusy goodness. It reminds me of melting orange starburst candy with a bit of pine lingering in the background ~ a very active, outdoorsy smell.

Karma is an explosion of happiness in a bottle! an explosion of sparkling citruses celebrating life; heady, sweet, opulent, vile projection, merciless orgasmic.sexy,gypsy,bohemian.king of patchouli If you walk down the Kalverstraat in Amsterdam you will recognize intermediately Karma screaming from the shop,is just an amazing Boom Boom scent.Ideal as beach scent, spray it on you sitting on a terrace with a Corona beer.Karma 10 points.

happy-knight

All I got from this was those fizzy vitamin C tablets you put in water but it's really in your face about it.

Sillage is pretty bad, it barely lasts too

Genuinely didn't like this . If this is the embodiment of the retro and hippy 70s I'm glad I wasn't I wasn't born around this time frankly

LittleHoot

I wish I could like this one. Perhaps it's just my skin chemistry, but this on me was a nose-punch of head shop (cheap pachouli incense) with a faint waft of chalky orange smarties. Overpowering when first applied, it disappeared completely within an hour.
As a soap, I could detect much more pine and resin-like notes, but those were nonexistent for me in the perfume.
I love Lush as a company, but this was a dud for me.

Icucino

I fell in love with the karma soap almost 20 years ago and had been wearing it until all LUSH stores were closed down in Brazil. Since then I have been anxiously awaiting for its return and now that I have it as an EDP it just does not fit me. As an EDP it's just too strong and that's a complaint I seldom make. As a soap it is an ethereal experience, as a perfume it's just too much of a good thing. Lush please consider making a lighter like summer or cologne version of it (I can't believe I'm typing these words).

Shwets

The packaging of the perfume has changed again with a clear label and karma written in black. The scent definately smells less sharp and strong than before. I'll try to re test but the longevity and sillage seemed to be less with this 3rd new packaging. Getting weaker each time?

mila476

The patchouli is just too heavy for me. The solid perfume is bearable in small doses and seems fresher somehow than the liquid, which is absolutely smothering and headache-inducing, at least for me. Since it's such a hit fragrance, it can't possibly have this effect on everyone, so I'm giving it to a friend who has been thinking of changing up her go-to scent--maybe she'll be able to use it.

kiwifish

This scent is fairly likable if you apply lightly. Orange, pine, and patchouli are all definitely prominent but there is a lot of sweetness as well (at least in the solid), which I think makes it more friendly and accessible than other patchouli scents. Ultimately I passed it on to a friend since I just didn't wear it that much.

lamujerdelasombra

Reading comments from other people, i wish i could find this smell pleasant, but it smells horrible on me, and is very headache inducing. I remember one ex boyfriend bought this for me as a christmas present, but he didnt smell it first. When i spritzed it while i was celebrating with my family, everyone got nauseated because the smell was so strong, like a heavy patchouli parfum for men, or a cleaning product. I tried using it during some months and to give it a chance, but the smell was so heavy, that i couldnt even use it on my room or curtains. On my skin, it smelled like bitter oranges and a face-slapping patchouli. Then, the smell changed to a very masculine piney smell, with a citrus hint.
After my bad experience, i decided to put some Karma on my clothes one day i was going to have a date with my ex. He asked, what parfum are you using? its incredibly strong! and i showed him the little Karma tube. He felt really sorry about it.

Susen

I absolutely LOVE this exotic and intoxicating fragrance. Unfortunately, I'm allergic to something in it. I spritz it on and immediately my skin heats up and turns an angry red. This does disappear after the first hour, but it does make for a negative association with wearing it. I gave my almost full bottle to my daughter to enjoy.

Warning: Karma (at least on me) has enormous sillage, so start off very conservatively. It's also very long lasting.

fresh_scents

Last week I replenished my supply of the hand and body lotion. That should tell you how much I enjoy Karma.

Marabel36

Smells like hardwood floors that have been freshly mopped with Pine-sol cleaner.

Danielectro

A perfume truly at odds with itself. Vibrant citrus, and dark herbs/woods. Neither really playing a dominant role over the other. They combine to create something that would be difficult to describe as smooth or nice, but undoubtably interesting and unique. If you've had experience smelling natural perfumes, you will likely be intrigued and willing to wait to see where this fragrance takes you. However, if you're into modern fragrance molecules you will probably instantly dislike it.

Flowerwood

Weird but fun!
Karma takes me to a strange, old fashioned amusement park or on an imaginary colourful journey in India.
Patchouli and orange is there all right, but not really dominating. The weird impression may be produced by the combo Fir-Pine – Cassis. But, just like the case with some other Gorilla perfumes, I have difficulties to really sort out what is going on.

I really enjoy Karma, but for me it will only be wearable at those special occasions when an air of strangeness is called for.

raw umber

The scent of abundance. Karma makes me so happy, and clashes with itself in the most endearing way. It really does smell like an entire Lush store in a bottle. This is definitely something you wear for yourself, like aromatherapy.

When the world deals you a big fat flaming hand of garbage, Karma reminds you that nobody cares, and neither should you. Profound apathy and salvation via sinus searing force. Aroma(shock)therapy. More, please.

Potent and long lasting. I have the 10 ml. spray which contains a compelling balance of fizzy orange, natural patchouli, and other botanical elements, as well as a hint of something like rubber or asphalt. I had the solid but returned it because it was too weak, orange-heavy, and stained my skin. Layers very nicely with other Lush perfumes for the ultimate idgaf Lush store effect. Awesome in the literal sense.

Knuxs

Karma is a clever and unusual take on the hippie loving 70's with a real relaxed but at the same time heady incense orangery type vibe. I believe the scent is supposed to mimic the "lush shop" smell with the intense combination of products all mishing and mashing together as you walk past or venture inside.

But whether Karma is a good perfume or not depends on your skin chemistry. The smell on two people can be so different you might think they're each wearing a different fragrance! You need to try this in store and don't risk a blind buy. I'd also avoid buying it as a present unless you know the person loves it.

I would say it's definitely unisex and again another Lush scent that can be worn at any point during the year and anywhere.

The bottle I'm using presently (made June 2015 ) the projection is reasonable and longevity is okay. I'm sure the scent used to be a lot stronger than it is now, so its either been reformulation or I have a bad batch.

If it suits you then it's safe to wear anywhere, so overall 7/10.

fighter

Hippie perfume.

Smells like Indian adventures, a trip in the inner Asia a journey to Nepal or a hippie holiday in a yurt in the Earth of Ibiza.

Smells like Yoga, kundalini and meditation. Oranges and patchuli are protagonists. :)

nordhaul

Vanilla-y warm comforting scent - FOR WINTER. I don't really like it yet I see the appeal though I think it's overrated

UnearthlyApothecary

I knew what to expect with the citrus and pine in this one, and I really love it. My husband however thinks it smells like bathroom cleaner :( this is a perfume that not many people are going to appreciate so I'll just wear it for me. I get the best hippie head shop vibe from Karma and I think its wonderful and intoxicating.

vrosej10

massively weird but entertaining like that one friend you have who is so hardcore into the strange place, what with the ferret ballet and artisanal sock cheese, that normal people look not so regular.

First is a huge blast of laundry musk, something that you'd put in lemon scent laundry powder. The juice hits me as fizzy next, sherbet orange with hints of used money. Patchouli and something else saunter up in the dry down. Surprising longevity for a summer scent. This is not my genre of perfume but I can see myself buying a second bottle.

gtabasso

patchouli, sweet and powdery incense; goes on at first citrus but fades out

Edit: I ran out of my old version and bought a new one. Horrid reformulation. Bug spray. All about the citrus. So sad. What happened to the incense and patch? This smells like a lemon PEZ.

Chaos Reigns

Mark Constantine did very well at making an absolutely unisex fragrance, sneaking in just a tad of weirdness, and taming patchuli. If you’re not exactly a daredevil with fragrances and don’t want to worry about going wrong, Karma is for you. (Unless you have issues with patchuli --- which is still really tamed here.)
