I don't know if they still make the solid version of this, but that smells like ultradank arroz con leche.

Magellan0101

Combines 2 of my favorite scents- jasmine and vanilla. I had sampled this many years ago, and wasn't thrilled by it. But, gave it another shot and REALLY loved it. My absolute favorite vanilla perfume, although I have a few. Nothing beats this one. A close tie belongs only to Kulfi by L'Aromatica. Both are equally powerful and bodacious vanilla perfumes, although Kulfi is sweeter and has an almond element to it and less floral.
If you love Vanilla, this one is a must to sample. And the price point is great for what you get. You can find it in spray, and solid. Bathbombs..Lush is a wonderful place to get lost in the fun of bathing, bubble bars at different times of the year. Vanillary is one of their yummiest creations.

Not your usual vanilla.

I wasn't blown away upon testing this in the store, but I got a second-hand bottle and... kinda fell in love.
I spray it mostly before bed and quitely enjoy it very much.

Even though some reviewers perceive it as such, it's not a sweet vanilla to me, and that's what makes it unusual.
It's "cold", perhaps because of the jasmine (although I don't smell that note on its own).
That makes it quite a bit less cloying than a lot of vanillas out there.

Good for office or close work with people, at least in cold weather.
Will have to get back to it when it gets hot, to check how it develops then.

I doesn't change, but that's not a negative in its case.
Longevity is good on me - and my skin usually eats perfumes.

Trying to do a Marie Kondo and appreciate this before I sell it.

On the one hand the smell of this is so evocative, because as far as I can tell it hasn’t changed since I used to go into lush as a child. But in the bottle it has this overwhelming playdough saltiness to it, and on my skin it smells about the same. I can almost trick my brain into smelling vanilla batter, but I shouldn’t have to force it. I can smell synthetic almond, freshly cleaned linoleum floors at a church children’s club. Strip lights. Eating too much cheap vanilla ice cream at the birthday party. Everyone’s going home. The corridors are empty. (Does this perfume make me feel sad..?!)

I think the nasal nostalgia it gives me doesn’t justify keeping 3/4 of a bottle and letting it go off over time. Someone else will appreciate it. I’m sure the perfect vanilla is out there for me.

Lincolngirl96

I wish I could love this.. but this smells like straight up waxy buttered popcorn. Its an immediate no for me

Flagrantica

For a long time I have been on the hunt for a discontinued bath bomb from lush from the 90s, which I remember as being softly jasmine forward with hints of vanilla, but after years of searching forums and asking in shops I have come to the conclusion that I must have imagined it. Having recently sampled Vanillary in store i feel like I’ve found something that, while not the same, shares a bit of the DNA of that lost scent. I should preface this by saying I am not a gourmand person. At all. Sweet scents always seem to dry down to something very juvenile on my skin and often trigger a headache. For some reason though this works for me. The opening is quite jasmine forward which I like and the dry down is beautiful - a soft almost clean powdery vanilla. The jasmine is still present after a couple of hours which I’m glad of because it nicely takes the sickly sweet buttercream edge off the vanilla for me. I can’t rule out the role that nostalgia is playing in my reaction to this scent but I can say that I went back and bought a small bottle the same day. It’s not an overly sophisticated or complex scent but it is comforting and beautiful and I’m delighted to have come across it.

Note: This review is written for the solid perfume.

Atrificial sweet vanilla, but very buttery and creamy, almost caramel like. Though it is a bit of a play-dough note in the background for me, a bit plastic-y but in a weird, but cozy nostalgic way.

It is pretty intimate, but it last for a while, but it is kinda static and doesn’t change much during its wear. Still, I do like it for what it is, but that may be me being a lushie and all :-)

Odor Aeternitatis

The fragrance has a strong vanilla scent, resembling a sweet vanilla dessert. Although it's not my typical choice, I quite enjoy it. If you appreciate gourmand vanilla fragrances, you may want to give this one a try. You might find it interesting.

I had and adored the solid version of this when I was in college and broke, was devastated when it melted in my car during a hot carolina summer. finally bought an actual bottle as an adult with disposable income aaaand... I've never had a fragrance give me headaches THIS immediate, this bad. soooo tragic. and it's not even that it smells bad to me now-- it's less vanilla to me than that rich scent of really, really quality honey-- expensive farmer's market honey. the scent is so thick and syrupy and I always loved that about it, plus that signature heavy Lush tonka... but something about it just instantly makes my head throb now. so sad. i envy you all who can enjoy it... i'm built different (derogatory) i guess

dormir6

I just love it. I expected a sweet gourmand, and got a dusty, vintage floral. The jasmin is sooo nice, sunshine from honey. So special.

sabsizzle

LOVE this fragrance!! I randomly decided to spray it after stocking up on some other items from Lush, and wow, I went to buy it online a few hours after spritzing myself. It's such a beautiful vanilla- I can smell the jasmine as well and I feel that it mixes perfectly. It is a warm, creamy vanilla, different than all the other vanillas I have smelled from other brands. I also own Kayali 28, they are both clearly vanilla, but Kayali seems a bit more "bright" and sweet, layers better with other fragrances, while Vanillary is more rich, creamy, good on its own.

Frontandscenter

For some reason many Lush perfumes have a weird wet cardboard/paper smell on me. Someone else in the comments said something similar.
This is one of those scents. I get a funky salty, smokey vibe. Indie perfumes with only natural ingredients tend to be the same.
It obviously ruins the experience for me. This truly smells awful. Too bad it stays on forever, or, that’s what I feels like.

siomes

Straight up Vanilla cake batter and that’s its. Doesn’t change and stays the same throughout. The best vanilla fragrance I have ever smelt and one I will always have in my collection. Extremely strong and lasts for ages.

MoreScentsThanDollars

Had this a couple of times hoping it would get better but each time I thought it smelt like coconut and got rid of it.
Hard to believe there's no coconut actually 🤔

Perezlessther4

Sensual. Warm. Rich. Semi-Sweet. Smoky.

Bordo

It is the kind of generic, cheap cake vanilla that I do not love but I know many people desire. It is not powdery or dry, nor it is rich or resinous. It is a bit syrupy if anything. But truth to be told, florals ruin it for me. I rarely enjoy floral notes in my gourmands and this is no exception. Sorry... As overall I love Lush and some of my absolute favourites are from them.

perfectly_pink

Warm, cozy, delicious. I have been craving this since purchasing. I love the yummy vanilla note and find the natural ingredient warms and melts deliciously on the skin. I can definitely smell the jasmine too and I find the fragrance has a powderiness and a bit of depth and interest to it.

I have been smelling this for years at LUSH, always trying it because I thought I should like it because I like vanilla. I never enjoyed it. Recently I have found an appreciation for lush’s style of fragrance, the natural notes and unrefined nature (in a good way) and I am loving this fragrance.

jessica_chinos

This smells like wet paper and plastic. Dislike it.

tamun

Who is a dirty girl?

This scent and Lust are my two favourites from Lush. I would never in a million years put either of them on to wear outside of the house. Skank is the prevailing descriptor for both and, yes. I don't typically like gourmand scents and especially not vanilla but something about this one just does it for me. Is it the dirty musk (hate) and jasmine (love) notes? Or maybe it's just nostalgia, memories from when I first tried it in university. Either way, this is a youthful comfort scent, in the house writing and listening to chill hop or lofi in pink wool socks and an enormous cabled cardigan, sipping cheap chardonnay (as dianesaysword put it) out of a mug snacking on cashews and macadamia... and your lover coming to bite into you later.

This is for cool, sunny days for me though I don't think it's bad in warmer weather. It's easy to go overboard since the fragrance doesn't transform very much on my skin. One spray on the forearms and dabbed behind the ears. It's very sweet but more like candied jasmine than a bakery... unless jasmine butter cookies are a thing. Sometimes, I smell Play-doh lurking beneath which I don't know how I feel about; it was an intriguing smell to my five-year-old self, anyway. The sillage feels strong but perhaps it's just the opening. Longevity is fantastic, maybe a solid 20 hours with the last few more like a skin cream. It think it smells best just out of the shower. It layers well, if you spray early in the day, by the nighttime, it's neutral enough to put anything over it without much interaction.

Bledsoeevaline

The jasmine note has almost a wheat-ish quality to it and makes it smell almost like beer. Not in a bad way, it’s a very sweet scent. I would wear this to a corn farm.

dianesaysword

Oh wow, I have the solid and it’s really wild. At first it smells like skanky buttered popcorn with a hint of vanilla. Then an actually nice vanilla-leaning-gourmond scent emerges and that sticks around for a while. It reminds me of cheap chardonnay lol 🤔

Adog22

The opening is very floral and feminine but dries down to a smooth buttery almost coconut scent. Dry down is unisex. Reminds me a bit of let the good times roll body spray

Sucrée

Vaniglia meravigliosamente declinata. Peccato per quella nota terribile di gelsomino indolico. Molto persistente ma purtroppo non riesco a digerire quel gelsomino terrificante che fa a pugni col mio ph. Consiglio di provarlo prima di acquistarlo.

pittam

As a child I always imagined a grown woman who’s actually really nice and confident about herself would smell like this perfume. As a grown woman I wear this when I want to radiate that caring personality. I don’t mind being called basic, I wanna be called sweet, and this perfume goes well.

brandybasisty

I'm not sure how old my decant is, but this was a pleasant surprise! I first get that familiar indolic jasmine that I associate with Lush bath bombs and powders, and a whole lot of gooey vanilla. What's magical about Vanillary is how the jasmine and vanilla interact with one another. Instead of a vanilla floral that I would expect from such a combination, the indolic aspect of the jasmine creates a slightly rancid butter note that, mixed with the vanilla, creates buttered popcorn, animalic caramel and coconut facets that smell really realistic to my nose- yet the fragrance doesn't seem overly gourmand or overly floral. Very balanced with good performance. I don't think I'd enjoy this as much oversprayed or on my chest where it might get too warm. For me, Vanillary is a delicious wrist scent that I look forward to trying again. Like all Lush scents, there's something overwhelming about it that would keep me from needing a full bottle- it's one to be savoured occasionally.

Bovinemagic

Smells absolutely amazing in the bottle!! Not too sweet and really delicate. But after 4 hours on my skin.. not so much. I’ll assume this has much to do with my body’s chemistry. The floral notes are nauseating after the dry down, almost babywipe-ish. Then comes a strange wet cardboard kind of smell. A friend of mine compared it to the tiny play-makeup we used as children, almost like a long lost lipsmackers chapstick at the bottom of your purse.
If florals tend to smell rancid on your skin, steer far far away. It does last EXTREMELY long.
Spraying it two or three times on my chest at noon, I smelled it on my bedsheets the next morning (sadly)

Risu247

Not the best vanilla fragrance I've ever tried, and it's definitely not very edible. But if you're looking for a subtle, slightly stanky vanilla, then it has some worth. Layering it with Tonymoly Bebe brings out the powdery note and gives it more complexity, at least on my skin.
Edit: I should mention that I have the solid version of this, not the spray.

maddieonline

This is truly the perfect gourmand sweet caramel vanilla. This paired with the Vanillary body wash (I personally love the washcards Lush do) lasts all day, creates a strong but not sickly scent bubble around you and just smells warm and delicious. I am obsessed with this - it smells like warm caramel and the white florals give it that sophisticated edge.

This is perfect for the office, it's like toasted marshmallows if they had a 9-5. I wish I could find the body spray version of this, but the perfume itself is of great value. I would absolutely recommend this.

fragrantO

Much more gourmand then i like , but the jasmine note to this goes wayy too strong for my likings and almost leans to lemony . if you like those things you will certainly enjoy this perfume. beware tho! it is very strong even to me ( i only buy strong perfumes and i couldnt even bear this one.

edit: why tf does this smell like feces as it ages and is left alone? such a nasty perfume

Wristsniffer

Sweet, wet, salted caramel powder. At first. Then a dryer, smokier burnt caramel. Both phases of Vanillary are enjoyable, though I prefer the first hour of wear when it's truly magical and seems to be the best thing a person could ever hope to smell. My other favorite vanilla, Vanille Insensee by Atelier Cologne (another dry, woody vanilla), also features jasmine alongside vanilla but where that one is transparent and smells like a vanilla forest, Vanillary is more cake-like and opaque thanks to the tonka bean, though it does refrain from being so edible it's sickly. Lush does autumn scents really well and this one is as cozy as it gets. I do get tired of it quickly (wearing this daily would be, for me, like eating a decadent dessert every day) so I can't imagine wearing it more than once in awhile, but it's always fun to rediscover this forgotten treasure every now and again. That said, I did find comfort in Vanillary for a period of several weeks during a particularly stressful event in my life. The vanilla absolute and tonka are like a warm hug, and real vanilla actually stimulates the release of serotonin, which can relieve anxiety and boost mood. Vanillary does list actual vanilla absolute in the ingredients, so I'm not surprised I gravitated toward it religiously at that time.

Kinga_

Pretty, casual vanilla. Less sweet than I expected. I think it's great if you're looking for something pleasant and delicate for everyday wear.

Dreamdott

It’s like a basic signature vanilla with a more burnt undertone. It’s a good layering scent because it isn’t too complicated. It’s not bad. I like this more for fall and winter. It also lasts a while on me!

hollyoaks321

I wanted to like this but it smellt off and not very nice like a pee smell :(

Masipasi

I live for this. I'm totally vanilla person what comes for parfymes, and i'm always searching for that perfect vanilla scent. This is one of the best so far, but very unic one ✨
Have to admit that it took time for me to get used to this and start to like this. This is not usual sweet vanilla scent u can smell in every shop and in every cheap vanilla parfymes u can get in your hands

I think this is more musk than vanilla actually. Very strong musk, and after that comes vanilla. But more warm, not so sweet. This smells basically like guineapigs piss, if you know what i mean 😂 so it's very animal and nature scent imo. Totally not for everyones taste and use. Also pretty unisex which i like

This is kinda my signature smell at this moment, can't go wrong with this one. Goes with every occasions.

I'd say not for blind buy, but give it a try n test it few times at Lush!

Candylover666

Oh this perfume is tragic.
I first tried this perfume in 2016 in the Lush store and I remember that I loved it, at the time it really reminded me of Pink Sugar by Aquolina for some reason.
I kept saying I would buy it and never got around to do it, especially after the Lush store in my region announced it was closing.
A few months ago I heard many good things about American Cream - which is one of my fav. perfumes - and wanted to try it out.
On the Lush website I saw that they’re still selling Vanillary so I decided to get American Cream and Vanillary in 30ml bottles.
I thought the other one was going to be a risky purchase but it ended up being Vanillary even tho I loved the scent years ago when I tried it.
I’m glad I only got the 30ml bottle because I absolutely hate it.
It smells like burnt vanilla, rubber and jasmine soaked in urine.
I don’t like to be so negative about fragrances, I rarely hate a perfume, but gosh… I did not expect I was going to hate it so much.
I don’t know if Lush reformulated this fragrance or what but I recommend to others to test this before buying.

mabelangel

i love this perfume on the tester card! it was warm, but not so warm you couldn't wear it year round. it was buttery and fluffy with a sliiiiiight hint of jasmine. i was about to buy it but then i sprayed it on my skin and honestly it couldn't have been worse. my skin chemistry often works really well with vanilla but this time it was migraine inducing. the buttery-ness quickly turned into a terrible plastic-y scent. it smelled cheap and dirty and just like.. plastic. i love this perfume and i love lush and i'm absolutely devastated that it smells so awful on me. not a safe blind buy! :(

Marinka71

I am sorry, but no. First off, upon spraying I could barely smell anything. Then I sprayed lots of it. It comes off as synthetic and cheap and vanilla is not what shines through at first. Synthetic tonka may be?
Kinda bathroom freshener-y. And not a splendid one.
Drydown is vanilla and a hint of coconut, again in the cheap end.
I'm not impressed. At all.

supersaiyan

At first I smelled only a strong and pure, very buttery vanilla; however, as I kept wearing it I discovered the jasmine that becomes more and more obvious as days pass. Lush uses the same jasmine found in Lust in all their other compositions (it is famous for a reason!). The scent itself is honeyed, vanilla, and floral, and reminds me of Serge Lutens Un Bois Vanille!

I wrote Vanillary off at first but now, once I've understood how to find the jasmine, I find this scent quite sexy! It is very polarizing - this scent can sometimes smell like urine and has the same effect as Nasomatto's Sadonaso. Do not blind buy if you find honey scents to remind you of urine, which is quite common!

Charmedbymeghan

This is a really lovely Vanilla+Jasmine fragrance. It smells like the perfect marriage of the ingredients listed above (I suppose the Tonka just adds a lil sumthin sumthin to the vanilla)... It really does smell like an unadulterated Floral/Vanilla fragrance. 50/50 split. The jasmine is a freshly bloomed jasmine that's been made into an essential oil. This fragrance more than others does come off as essential oils made into a perfume, without much else done to the mix - but I mean this in a good way. And it seems to last forever on my skin...

One thing to note is:
Sometimes I get more of a balmy floral+vanilla and that tones down the vanilla more. But other times that vanilla is loud & proud. I enjoy it either way my nose is picking it up. It smells like quality Indie perfume/oil.

It's up there with some of my favorite vanillas, like YSL Babycat & Nishane Ani. There is just something special that I've never smelled in any other vanilla+jasmine perfumes. I really appreciate it for what it is.

aweso10

vanillary is a deceptively simple fragrance, because it hits you all at once, but really it's just a warm, lactonic vanilla with an overdose of heady jasmine. there's definitely some tonka in the base, but that only comes out after and hour or more of wear, making it a bit softer and creamier. i will say that if you're not into jasmine, don't purchase this fragrance. a lot of folks seem to not like how the jasmine note interacts with the vanilla, making it a bit too mature or creating a "cat pee" kind of scent. on me, the jasmine stays pretty consistent, but definitely softens over time. i think that the jasmine gives it that classic "lush" throughline- kind of hippie and smoky- while still being cozy and buttery from the vanilla. buy at your own risk, but i think it's a perfect match for someone who loves both vanilla and jasmine!

LeighaCece

Wanted to love it, thought I would love it based on the notes, but it’s a musty powder bomb. Smells like a forgotten, open bottle of vanilla extract that evaporated in a cold dark basement cellar with a ton of dust. I wish I at least got the Amber/caramel/jasmine notes but for some reason it’s just this super dusty and mouldy smelling talc-vanilla that makes me want to sneeze.

Vellocet

One of the creamiest, smoothest cozy vanillas you’ll ever find! It’s straight up vanilla with just a tiny hint of jasmine that prevents it from being too cloying. Wonderful!

Jicky1982

This is a lactonic, vanilla and white floral fragrance. In the same vein as many other similar fragrances - Serge Lutens Datura Noir for example.

It opens up a creamy, coconuty vanilla with strong jasmine undertones. As time wears on the jasmine starts to fade. By the end of wear it is basically 100% creamy, vanilla.

It boggles my mind why some people say they don’t get vanilla. It is not a single note vanilla fragrance and there is definite the floral note from the jasmine. But the vanilla-coconut note is the strongest note.

I think this a year round fragrance. But summer is probably the best time to wear it - because it is a beachy, white floral, creamy vanilla - it is not a heavy wintery vanilla.

Detman101

I'm getting rose, powder, jasmine and tuberose from this...not vanilla.

I really wanted to like this....but all I'm getting is powdery old-lady perfume.
I think I'll give it to an actual old lady I know.
This is soooo not for me.

FallenLeaf

I think because of the jasmine in this it really depends on your hormones as to whether or not you get the urine scent. If your hormones are ok with it, it smells divine. If not, you will smell like a public toilet.

I love it but absolutely hated the liquid at first because I tried it at the wrong time of the month. I bought the solid first which is much safer & less hormone dependant! So maybe try the solid first to see how you get on with it.

The jasmine really is what sets this aside from other vanillas. It's a cosy scent with a floral hit that is addictive.

Good for layering, particularly with LUST.

Update: The liquid became too much of a migraine trigger so I sold it. Will give the solid a try again at some point. For some reason, I'm currently unable to wear Lush perfumes since having COVID in October 2023.

lichprincess

This makes me feel so nice and warm and somehow it's not too heavy for warm weather. I only tried the solid version, but I'm definitely buying the spray too!

Moonbby

The vanilla scent that started it all for me! It’s delicious and powdery at the same time. I can see why someone who “loves vanilla” may not vibe with this particular vanilla. It’s an odd one because it maintains some edible-ness but has enough warmth/powderiness to be “perfumey.” I’m absolutely in love with this vanilla, and it’s what I compare all my other vanillas to.

It lasts pretty long on me, about 8 hours. It does project a bit, but not so much that it’s offensive to other people in your vicinity.

ambervdk

Hate it or love it type of scent. Smells Nice but only for a short while. I get a headache after 1 hour :(

GreenOrangeBanana

Vanilla and caramel...yum !

Ainasyasam

I'm so glad I bought decant first for this. Although I regret the 10ml purchase. Should've just ordered the minimal 3ml. Definitely not a safe blind buy.

I don't know if the batch in my country is spoiled or what, but I definitely DEFINITELY hate this.

I do not get the sweet gourmand bakery vanilla as the name suggested. First whiff from the bottle all I got was the salty buttery scent then the straight up smelly rancid public urinal scent hit me like a truck and I absolutely despise it. There's no way I'm spraying that on my skin or clothes. I don't know how I'm getting through the 10ml decant now. I spent money on it, so I'm not gonna throw it away. But I can't even find anyone around me who likes the scent. Bummer.

limonika

I see there’s different bottles. mine is just blank vanillary lush. i was laughing at blackcat02’s review at first. At the beginning i was getting vanilla, butter and honey but now im also getting whiffs of urine. I think I will give this another chance in the cold months. It stains clothes leaving pissy yellow stains too.

xildelphi

I have the solid of this—creamy, cozy vanilla, just a little bit indolic from the jasmine in a way I absolutely adore, like a fluffy blanket enveloping you. Stays close to the skin but lasts for a whole day, at least in solid form. I've been layering this under fragrances that I wish were a little warmer and it works amazingly for that purpose. Think this'll be a staple in my rotation for a long time.

lemusc

Review for the solid perfume:

Super cozy, like a buttery vanilla candle with a hint of jasmine. Not overly sweet and stays close to the skin. I had purchased it to wear at home/to bed, since it's such a cozy, affordable fragrance, but unfortunately I had to get rid of it as it irritated my skin...and my cat wouldn't come near me when I wore it!

ztlxoxo

I really mostly get overpowering floral from this. Wish it were more like some of the soaps and lotions I love from LUSH. I don’t think I even finished the bottle 😢

winwin23

Smells like a strong creamy synthetic coconut and vanilla mix. Similar to those generic Calgon, Bath & body works, or Victoria Secret coconut body sprays, but higher quality. I know theres no coconut in the ingredients but it also states "fragrance" and to me it smells like synthetic coconut mixed with warm vanilla scent, gross.

magnoliaboulevard

This is a very cake-like Vanilla. I find it very buttery and creamy, and very very sweet. Not getting the notes of urine that some are getting thank God. I’m a big fan of most Lush fragrances, and this one is no exception. I really like this.

Caroline22

Sadly I'm one of the people that seem to get rancid butter & urine smell out of this (the spray). DO NOT BLIND BUY, test first, as it seems to be 50/50 between love and hate.

floralcowboy

It smells like a rich tonka-vanilla butter without extra fluff or sugar though still leans powdery and animalic. This is not going to be typical sweet fluffy vanilla or remind you of baked goods/candy or bath and body works, it's more of a adult vanilla and a bit unapologetic. Thankfully don't get any pee or other negative notes here.

majish_333

Ohhhh, how I wanted to like this perfume!
The reviews on the store said it'd smell like a bakery but I just smelled something else, something I couldn't put my finger on. Then I read the reviews here and it clicked - it smells a bit like urine. Maybe the formulation is different in my country or I got a bad batch, but with my body chemistry it smells kinda like a vanilla cake that someone peed in.. Don't know what that says about me though.

A reminder to not blind buy perfumes!!

jjluvsm9

The notes perhaps don’t show it, but this is a very spicy jasmine tinged take on vanilla. The vanilla here is smoky even? The jasmine is indolic, as I’ve found to be the case with all the jasmine in all the Lush perfumes I smelled. I don’t know how I feel about this. I think I like it once it dries down. It just has a screechiness which bothers me from beginning to end & prevents me from fully enjoying it. I can imagine this being an absolute no-go in the summer.

Just stale french vanilla butter for me

tessture

Vaniliary starts as a true vanilla on me with a lovely tobacco feel, but as it dries, it turns very coconut-y, which I don't love. At the middle to end stage, I find myself dislking it, even though the notes sound right. Its' a pass for m.

MuscularMan27YO.

This is so so good. as a guy this might be a bit feminine, but i have no porblem with that. When you smell it directly on you it smells one way, but in the air this gets so thick, powerful and natural smelling vanilla with that white floral touch- just amazing.
The bottle is so boring though. This fragrance deserve better presentation for sure.

blackcat02

OH MY GOD!!! URINE. JUST STRAIGHT UP URINE. STRONG AND FOUL. For the first .5 seconds I got honey butter but then it just pulls pure piss on my skin. This is if you accidentally peed yourself and tried to cover it up with perfume. EWW WTF ABSOLUTELY NO. SCRUBBING THIS OFF IMMEDIATELY

If you love vanilla scent then Lush Vanillary is for you. After owning quite a few Lush perfumes, this with American Cream is the most 'commercial' fragrances. The vanilla scent is quite heavy but as a vanilla scent lover, that's the best bit of the perfume.

Sanrio

Balmy sambac jasmine (just like Lush Lust,) and pure bourbon vanilla extract with some of that soft, dry "library book smell" in the background. It is NOT a crumbly cookie or vanilla icing type of smell.

A great summer time vanilla for those who want something more unique than Olympea.

Scrilla

Boy is this cozy. I've been looking for an affordable cozy vanilla for winter and picked up the perfume solid of this and no regrets so far. Sweet, addictive. I tried the spray in store and the opening was a bit sharp and green but once it settled it's just cozy town and I can't get enough.

jagn

On me it’s not a gourmand cookie vanilla, but a beeswax vanilla candle. Extremely waxy, slightly animalic even. Very good longevity and performance.

sprose

Layering the solid version of Vanillary with Not A Perfume just saved my nose from a citrus floral that was causing me pain. I can sleep now.

Dark vanilla, I can definitely see why people are calling it dirty. Reminds me of the texture of vanilla bean ice cream (as opposed to french vanilla): creamy but a little grainy? Speckly?

It's not spicy but you can imagine it being spicy.

Sort of thick. Warm and comforting, but not comforting like your childhood home, comforting like falling sleep on your cool best friend's shoulder on a long, late night bus ride.

ShaunMichael

It’s vanilla fields. Gross!

I remember smelling this on one of the popular girls in my highschool. She was cool, chic, never smiled and always came to school with perfect makeup. When asked "what are you wearing?", all she said was "Lush" and walked away. That image sticks in my mind and now that I have the perfume, I just think of how cool she was. It's an unapologetic vanilla fragrance that makes you go wild. I smell tart raisins, fridge-cold butter, dusty book pages, soft skin covered in a sugar scrub and a piss-like animalic sharpness. Vanillary is wild and unforgettable. Not for everyone but you can't help but turn your head and scrunch up your face in bewilderment, confusion and lust.

Svetla11

I had the solid version of this over a decade ago and it is totally a girly teen fragrance. Used it in one summer. Everything is linear and performance is short. It smells a bit buttery and the jasmine is slightly orchidy at times. For the price it was ok, fun , playful and comforting.

Eeyan88

Blind buying this was the worst decision ever. This is honestly the worst perfume I've ever smelt, the kind that's unwearable in every sense (e.g. layering, room spray, bathroom air freshener). It's not disgusting, to me it smells like the scent of orchids in cool humid air or just flowers in nature but suuuper concentrated. I'm pretty new in my fragrance journey so I bought it for the vanilla note and some reviews saying it's a pretty decent scent but now I can't even think of how to use this up or who to even gift it to because it's such a polarizing scent to me. I suggest testing it out a store if it's possible before buying one, which was what I should've done.

Roos88dutch

I smell something like argarwood . Light version of invite only amber for Kayali . Smells like spicy vanilla or incense. Not really vanilla as I hoped . Vanilla 28 still my favorite.

tinkerbell2614

This has good lasting power and projection. I can totally see this being unisex, because it is not your sugary vanilla fragrance you smell in common sweet gourmand perfumes. It’s very buttery, almost like buttery popcorn or caramel, and warm/syrupy. I don’t know how to describe this, it almost is as if most vanilla perfumes have a marshmallow note and this one is melted like melted vanilla bean in a pan with butter. It’s really good but I don’t know if it’s my favorite vanilla or if I would buy it. I do love Lush perfumes though, they are very strong and unique.

wdymthough

I first tried this one 10 years ago when I discovered lush. Got the solid and pined for a edp which I also got later on. I think I finished both, no clue now tbh. I recently got a decant and it's as I remember. Thick vanilla bean pod + dusty tonka. Don't particularly smell the Jasmine. It's natural smelling and linear. Has a bit of a play dough vibe as well. Good projection.

looraw

Vanilla + rancid butter + petrol. As lover of vanilla but loather of jasmine this one makes me confused and a bit sad. A weird and warped slightly evil vanilla in a very cute bottle. Deceiving!

jasminelust

I own the original 12g colourful labeled solid perfume, with the vanilla seeds in it.

I've owned this since 2016 and have used about a 3rd of it. I actually bought it because I was using the Smugglers Soul solid at the time, but I wanted a sweeter scent to layer with it. Because of this I almost never used it on its own, and the few times I did I remember it feeling cloying, suffocating almost. I was wearing it in summer and for me, it was absolutely waaaay too much.

In autumn and winter however, I find a few swipes on my pulse points is all that is needed to cloak me in a sweet vanilla and jasmine cloud. There is no sharpness to the scent, but it IS heavy, and I think cooler weather makes it feel cosy and warm, instead of oppressive as in the summertime. The vanilla and jasmine take turns for me, wafting up them subsiding, then wafting again. It doesn't feel like a fight so much as a dance between two delicate and heady smells.

It is a linear perfume, and it is very much 'one note' - although the 'note' does contain vanilla, tonka, and jasmine, they all exist on the same level so you don't get the multiple dimensions of say, a smoky resinous base to harmonise with the sweetness.
I like it on it's own, but not very often, and not for long (it's a loooong lasting perfume). I much prefer it layered with something a bit spicy or woody or smokey (it works really well with scents that already have a minor vanilla note in), but it IS gorgeous on it's own. It's delicious.

If we're talking vanilla and jasmine scents from lush, I'm a big fan of Lust, which is jasmine front and centre, with vanilla backing dancers. It's a personal preference, but where lust makes me feel sensual, confident, capable, dreamy, adventurous, desired, magic, animalistic etc, vanilliary makes me feel sweet, warm, cozy, safe, loved.
Vanilliary for me is for a cozy day at home, snuggled up with mugs of tea and cake and a really good book.

glossiae

a deep, sticky, buttery, vanilla extract type of vanilla fragrance. essential for true gourmand lovers, but could come across as immature if you are more inetrested in dimensional scents or woody/aromatic/smoky vanillas. it's definitely heavy (thanks to the tonka) and projects well, so don't overspray.

Jernê Knowles

Lush is Lush and the Maisons who think they can create fragrances with a natural connotation that are "simple" and at the same time complex in their existence are silent before it! The most beautiful thing about the House is the coexistence of each of its beautiful fragrances that dialogue with each other.

In the opening, Vanilla is already the protagonist and there is nothing to hold it back, revealing itself as an adult note full of sensuality, nothing gourmand or "innocent girl", it is a surprising sweet, which involves, which instigates those around (and in the neighboring districts as well), which gives the message and impresses for not being the same anymore!

In the middle we still feel a lot of the mysterious touch of Vanilla, but there is a slight dirtiness of Jasmine, which brings that complex-hippie footprint that is Lush's pure identity, the notes get involved and present a dense, serious sweetish floral result and notably self-sufficient; here is the shareable word stem representation for this fragrance.

At the base, the fragrance becomes a little more "calm" (those who know Lush know what this represents | lol), with the resinous touch of Tonka that mixed with the sweetness of Vanilla and the dirt of Jasmine make it acceptable with an air of hug from people who love, like a memory from afar, but that was always present inside the heart! This fragrance is too worthy, I consider it one of the least "difficult" of the House, it stays on me for another 20 hours and exudes for 18 hours quietly!

Admittedly, Hermès is my Maison do ❤ that represents me, among designers, however, in the world of niches, Lush represents me beautifully!

lavieparfum_44928

This is so yummy and cute! Perfect amount of sweetness, not a Bath & Body Works type of sweet, just enjoyable goodness.

lolarosebloom

this literally smells like a vanilla cake with some jasmine sprinkled in. very gourmand, a compliment getter. it would give me headaches from the sweetness (which i never do bc i love gourmands!), so unfortunately i had to give it away. a lovely, sweet, cakey vanilla.

kvrsha

THE vanilla I have always looked for. Really unsure why I didn't try this earlier. It is a "dirty" vanilla as some people have mentioned, but perfect nonetheless. Longevity is fantastic. Sillage is great. Gosh I hope they never discontinue this gem.

Cat.pudding

Gorgeous simple vanilla. Wore this for years, it’s so sweet and delicious. Rather vanilla extract type vanilla, not too floral or anything. Yum . Please don’t discontinue ever 🥲

handkmommy

This is different from other vanillas I’ve experienced. The jasmine mingles with the vanilla and tonka bean giving it a fresh feeling. I get the references to yeasty at first. I’d describe it a furry feeling if that’s a thing. The layer surrounding the vanilla feels fuzzy. If you’re looking for a creamy, decadent vanilla this isn’t for you. It’s got a freshness that comes with it from the floral. Unique to me. Not a big love of mine. I’m a straightforward vanilla type of person. But this is a very pretty and less juvenile fragrance. It sticks around quite well. I can smell it several hours later on my skin.

Bubbles1964

I don’t find Vanillary simple; opening is vanilla, jasmine and a powdery, animalic musk (my guess, is that the jasmine is sending this message). The opening does feel yeasty to my nose too, but this note is lost in the dry down, where Vanillary becomes smoother and more floral.

Both times I wore Vanillary I loved it despite the challenging opening. Would love to own a 30 ml, but I also don’t want to pay the discontinued, inflated prices. A strong like from me.

nanaa_from_ghana

As someone that leans more towards florals, I initially really enjoyed Vanillary, mainly because it smelled like a true vanilla scent. As I've acquired more gourmand perfumes and compared them to Vanillary, I am realizing I don't like it as much as I thought I did. It's a heavy scent and when it comes to gourmands, I like them airier and lighter. I think the Tonka Bean weighs everything down too much. It's still a nice scent but it's just not for me.

allthatis_barelythere

The first few seconds are a sweet, deep vanilla. It then quickly turns into a supermarket air freshener with jasmine. The jasmine is insanely strong on me. Then there's an almost chocolate-like note in the base, which is quite different to the tonka I usually pick up in fragrances. It doesn’t feel well blended at all - more like 3 different smells co-existing. I was looking forward to trying it because I usually enjoy vanilla perfumes, but I genuinely hate this. I couldn't wait to scrub it off.

saponista

Noses and skin chemistry are so interesting! On me this is gorgeous luxurious pure vanilla for the first 30 minutes, then vanilla-sandalwood-jasmine for the next hour or so, and finally jasmine-vanilla-sandalwood for 10+ more. I get no yeasty notes. (I was kinda hoping for whiff of whiskey.)

It’s a bit sweeter / gourmand than I prefer (I totally get the fleeting top notes of cupcake!) but settles down pretty quickly. Vanillary requires a light hand; it’s got monster projection and sillage. Spray-and-walk-through will be safest for the office, especially in warm weather. The solid version sits closer to the skin but still a tiny bit is plenty.

Vanillary reminds me a lot of a (less sophisticated version of) Serge Lutens Un Bois Vanille layered over the remnants of last night’s application of Lush Lust. Since both of those fragrances are in my top 10 (and most complimented) it’s no shocker that Vanillary is a love for me. This does use the same super-heady-indolic Grandiflorum absolute as Lust, so jasmine-haters stay far away.

Edit: Lush annoyingly packages their fragrances in clear bottles and they’re exposed to light all day long for however long the bottle sits on the shelf. Ask for the most recent stock (or ideally a bottle in the back).

alyssarware

Smells yeasty, my fiance said it smells like straight up whiskey

raeseo2000

Didn't know this smelt differently to other people, to me this was basically just vanilla. A pretty simple scent.

pnksweetpea

smells like a vanilla air freshner. like pure vanilla. headachy :(

mauvealert

Smells like taking a big whiff of vanilla essence while you're baking. Love this stuff, but I also love vanilla, tonka and jasmine, that's sort of a must for this, given that those are the only notes. This is a really "big" perfume with regard to sillage and longevity, and I normally shy away from those, but somehow this works. It's warm and enveloping, like a big velvety blanket. Personally don't get any weird animal smells, but I don't think I'm very sensitive to indoles. If you are, maybe stay away from this one.

Icecreamtacos

This fragrance is so overwhelming, more than one spray and your nose hairs are singed off. It is straight-up a sweet and floral vanilla with no mercy. It doesn't develop it doesn't change it just makes me feel sick. Then after such an intense initial spray, it fades after 30 minutes to a skin scent. A mediocre one at that. Overall I wouldn't spend money on this fragrance, there are better vanillas that are simpler or more complex at a better price point. 2/10

AmirKing

Waaaay too much yeast, one spray too many and it resembles a strong beer like facet with the yeast mimicking a pint of warm musty beer 🤮

frangiris

Pleasant, not too sweet or intrusive, but not remarkable.

ingeneuxo

-Opens with sweet cotton candy vibes.
-Reminiscent of bath and body works.
-Dries down reminiscent of still-rising bread dough. A strong yeast-heavy scent.
-Not a fan (-)

keloidmilk

I have the original version with the cute flower print label, and the new version of the solid perfume.
I used to have the old version of the solid perfume (tin can + cute flower label & twice more product than the new version!!! Lush, why did u do this…..UGH) but I lost it😨😭& it used to be long lasting than the new formula, plus it had little vanilla beans in it, just like creamy vanilla custard🤤
Love this scent.

JackieM

Absolutely agree that this is a very, very spot on butter scent. Melting on a dish. But it's also rather warm and savory, and the yeast description is true as well. So like melted butter on under baked toast. It's big and novel at first, but I'm not sure this is something one can comfortably wear on the skin for hours. I just wanted it to calm down, but it became too much, especially the vanilla adds a sweetish edge.

I can't say, like others can, that the jasmine here is what bothers me. In fact, I love the big petrol, indolic cloud of Lust, which grew on me so much especially as it lingered and changed. I wish Vanillary had more of that floral and less of the savory, gourmand emphasis.

EsmeCrowfoot

I wore this today and my 4 year old daughter said: “Mum, you smell lovely! Like custard.” which in my eyes, is a great review. (Not that I’d want custard in my eyes, mind!)

vanillaorchid

Love the opening of buttery vanilla with some freshness of green jasmine. However, as it dries drown the jasmine completely takes over. It is really not all that pleasant, but it is definitely long lasting. This is my favorite from Lush so far aside from Rentless, but none of them have made it to my wardrobe.

the_proust_effect

This has one of the most buttery, delicious vanilla notes I've ever encountered. However, this fragrance should be called "Jasminny" because it's a jasmine bomb, and a dirty, indolic jasmine at that. I can't always tolerate white florals for long as they become too cloying for me, and just don't suit my personality. This is not one that I can wear, but I appreciate how unapologetic it is. If Lush came out with a vanilla like this without the jasmine, I'd be all over it. Excellent longevity.

avekenny

Decadent vanilla bomb! Syrupy sweet and rich, with incredible longevity. I live in the seething-hot tropics where most perfumes sweat off in an hour or two — and Vanilary is one of a handful of fragrances I can trust to last a summer’s day, and stay true.

This isn’t a complex fragrance, only a few oils blended, and it shows: this warm, floral vanilla is linear, and long lasting.

In my search for the perfect vanilla, I’ve encountered so many versions of the same light scent — which is not that far different to the vanilla fridge spray I use to clean with. This vanilla, however, is deep and resinous and reminiscent of some delicious Christmas treat.

EDIT: I wish the photograph for his perfume reflected the new bottle from LUSH, which is much simpler and looks great among fussier bottles.

Stelladavies55

someone mentioned that this smells alike to cat piss and unfortunately I agree. There’s a really nice creaminess to it but the jasmine ruins it for me, makes it’s almost chaotic. They don’t seem to blend. There’s definitely something nice about it but it’s almost like I’m smelling two separate fragrances at once, if it were just the creamy notes it’d be lovely .

animal lover 20

I recently visited a big mall in my country and I happened by the Lush store so I decided to look around a little bit. I had been there before, but because I was not familiar with the shop and the products, I just bought a shower gel (olive branch) which turned out to be a good, safe, choice during the hot Summer. This time I decided to try another type of product so I was torn in two (between the body spray and the perfume). I sampled quite a few of them but the one that I finally bought was the Vanillary. I thought that it would be the safest choice as the winter is very close and the temperatures are getting lower and lower. I opted for the small pot, the solid version in order to curry it in my purse. Imho I find it quite nice. The smell is quite soft and sweet and very well balanced. To be honest with you it has happened before to try many "vanillery" fragrances but the majority of them were overly sweet, even artificial and headache-inducing. This one for now seems a nice choice. It is quite well balanced, and close to the skin. I have not tried it yet in public to test its sillage and see if I will have any compliments or not (totally the opposite...). I will not lie that, I really enjoy it when I get compliments about my perfumes. In a couple of days I have my appointment for my second shot (dose) against Covid-19, so hopefully this little pot will provide me some comfort because, I am a little bit afraid but I think this is a totally human reaction. To sum up, it is a nice, sweet, fragrance, and it is no coincidence that, it is among the most popular reviewed fragrances in Lush page. Update (1): the duration of the solid perfume on me was around 3 hours, so it was quite disappointing to be honest with you. It is convenient because of its size to carry it with you and reapply but 3 hours is nothing. It certainly stays/lingers more on clothes, I can smell it a couple of hours later. Anyway, I will try my luck with the perfume and I will get back to you. Update (2): the perfume is definitely stronger and lasts more but on the other hand, it is quite headache-inducing, even if you spray it sparingly. Generally speaking I am not so fond of sweet, gourmand perfumes and personally speaking, I would classify it as a gourmand one, so I will use the pot but I do not think that I would repurchase it.

Sissib7

Beware: needs time to develop on skin. First impression is somewhat murky and chaotic; give it some time and it’ll turn into an almost gourmand, life like straight vanilla smell.

BeatriceSalBus

I smelled this only on paper the very first time I tried it and was honestly repulsed by it. I'm usually not a fan of jasmine, so I think that was it. I did end up getting the solid perfume a few months later with a friend and liked how it smells on my skin so I bought a 30ml bottle.

It has some spice in the background, which sets it apart from other vanilla fragrances. The first few minutes the spice is very in your face but the drydown is very nice. It doesn't last that long though. It becomes a skin scent for me after 2 hours and is completely go after 5.

This is a good scent for all kinds of occassions so I think it's signature worthy, as others have mentioned as well. I like to wear this in the colder months during the day but have worn it during spring/cold summer nights and it was perfectly fine.

PiperCat

Sweet, warm, spice. I love the smell and keep smelling it over and over. I wish it lasted longer, it only lasts about an hour on me, maybe it is the heat and humidity where I live.

Vanilla all the way, unique, definitely could be a signature scent for a cooler season.

impressionists

Two words: vanilla lollipop. If you’re looking for a richer, darker, ‘natural vanilla freshly cut off the bean’ then don’t go for Vanillary (try Eau Duelle by Diptyque). If you’re looking for a vanilla lollipop, then go for Vanillary!

GingerCherry21

I’m not exaggerating here but the bottle I tried in store genuinely smelt like old cat piss. Try before you buy, it was horrendous.

applestrudle

I only smelled this on paper, not on skin but there's something deep and dark about this... very mature vanilla....

Kiti89

I'm half repulsed, half attracted to this.

I feel like the harshest version of each note has been used and they're clashing. Fyi I tend to go for likeable mainstream scents so that's my usual comfort zone.

The jasmine is a little too sharp, the vanilla is a little too rich. Unlike other mainstream designers that'll probably soften or sweeten either one or both of these notes for a smoother blend.

It gives an overall melted butter scent which is a little bit not nice but also weirdly appealing.

I'm almost scared to wear this properly in case it's unbearable, I've only spritzed on my hand so far.

The drydown is better as the scent is mellowed out. The sillage also gives a general buttery vanilla scent which is easier on the nose for anyone around you.

I'll test this out a little more but Lush scents are definitely bold. I feel like they're all blended to be intentionally difficult and Marmite.

Edit; this is turning into a strong like 🙂

LittleMsCharming

One of the most incredible vanillas I've ever tried. Warm, deep, resinous, sexy as hell. I forgot just how good Vanillary is!!!

AlaskanAngel

My chemistry or biology makes this smell like yeast on my skin. As in, blooming yeast in warm water. Yeast alive, moist, and swelling, rising bread dough... uh, yeah, not pleasant.

I powered through and let it sit, about 4 hours in I get a buttery jasmine with very soft vanilla but it's not worth the wait. I've tried this several times in various weather conditions but it is always a chore to keep myself from scrubbing it off.

Easily unisex. The jasmine is thick, the vanilla light, long lasting, smooth. A good frag if it works with you.

Heiress_jordan

Maybe I got a bad batch, but this smells like burnt plastic. I was waiting for the dry down, hoping that the “buttery vanilla” scent some have mentioned would come through, but it never does. I doubt I’ll finish the bottle.

sadielynn02

This perfume is not for everyone. I purchased the EDP recently because I remember owning, and loving, the Vanillary solid perfume years back. The scent is very sharp in the edp, while the solid is much more subtle and soft. Not my favorite scent, but it does last a very long time and has super strong sillage

KarolaFragrance

First spray: jasmine and its leaves smashed into one, mixed with flower vase water, pleasant (to me) but definitely already in the indolic spectrum.

Unfortunately the jasmine phase does not last, the smell transforms quickly into melted butter with vanilla, the first one taking the stage.

I like it, I find it very unusual but cozy, however I think that "Butterly" would be a much more suitable name for it.

ask your mum

I have the little 12g tin of solid perfume, which is still kicking after a few years. On me, I like it. It's youthful, and a little tiny bit goes a long way. It's a shame that they've changed from a generous little tin to a glass jar with half the volume, but to be honest it lasts for so long that it's still reasonable value.

But the spray? I tested it and couldn't wait to wash it off. Not for me at all.

misssmix

I can’t bear this, I’m sorry. I love sweet scents, vanilla, buttery, play dough as well. I love American Cream. But this. This is just making me sick.
And by the way: it lasts forever. It beats some expensive niche perfumes for longevity and sillage, that's a good thing for those who like it.

Aromalie

this is a VERY sweet scent. almost feels buttery? heavy and sickening, doesn't give you a clean feeling. american cream is a better vanilla imo. I'm surprised this is so popular. to me it's just kind of gross :/

Frangipanilove

This is quite unique for a vanilla scent. It smells like melted butter, as in you are melting lumps of butter on a stove to bake and then add a pod of vanilla in. There is a slightly salty facet to it. Its not your typical commercial vanilla because of this, it has a very organic scent which I happen to like. I dont get any jasmine at all just this butter and vanilla. Over time the molten butter facet smooths down and you are left with soft vanilla. I really like it, its not overpowering and not overly sweet, just smooth, easy to be with.

Shan101beauty

This a very buttery vanilla. Something very lipsticky about it to me, it does not smell like lipstick but gives that same creamy smell to me. I think it is the jasmine that give that powdery vibe. I actually enjoy wearing it. A creamy burnt butter type powdery vanilla lipstick lol.

Cicely81

In the third or fourth wear I oversprayed this and have since become attuned to a note that spoiled this for me. It’s that suffocating dusty dry burnt toffee like note that others have mentioned…sadly I cannot wear this.

I like several Lush perfumes (mostly the benzoin based) but I find many a bit brash and discordant. Interesting to smell but not so wearable. I still appreciate their style and how many naturals they use in their perfumes. But since they are charging you for full size 100 ml bottles their appeal has dropped a bit for me. What was wrong with the cute 30 ml sizes?

astrakan

Buttery, smokey vanilla pods. It's like baking a sweet bread with a really heavy handed dose of pure vanilla. The scent captures the yeast and dough and all. I feel like the vanilla in here is very literal, it really smells like putting your nose straight into a vanilla pod. Natural vanilla, with all the aspects of the pod and not just plain vanillin. Smoky and yeasty. Sounds kind of gross but is worth a try. I don't recommend blind buying this, and I sold my bottle since I never wore it...

Coquita

The vanilla and coumarin were an enticing opening: it was sweet but not exceedingly so, buttery, and well balanced. Reminded me a bit of salted caramel. Somehow though, my skin turned that to Play-Doh after an hour or so. Very potent stuff, lasted a whole day and projected like crazy. I can see it as a winter night fragrance. Also, a piece of advice: try before you buy, it gave me a bad rash when I tried it on my wrist.

gcray

This review is for the solid perfume.
I definitely agree that this fragrance opens with a strongly sharp, plasticky note. However it dissipates quickly, leaving a beautifully warm, buttery vanilla, that becomes somewhat sweet and powdery. Personally I don't get a whole lot of Jasmine. I really like this scent, and for me it's more sophisticated and adult than a lot of the super sweet, air freshener vanillas that are around. It lasts about half the day, with enough sillage to catch a wiff here and there but not be bothersome. Great price too.

Virgo92093!

This is a BUTTERY/caramel vanilla and Jasmine perfume. I love it . Super strong! Sweet , equal parts vanilla and jasmine IMO . I think the contrast between the two ingredients creates a slight powdery smell. I love it .

Amir bahar

I just bought this yesterday and I LOVE IT!! it opens with sweet vanilla with jasmine playing at the background. I don’t smell the tonka on me unfortunately. But this really reminds me of A La Nuit by Serge Lutens. I mean the jasmine facet in Vanillary smells identical to A La Nuit. Amazing! I finally found a dupe fragrance that smell close enough to my fav A La Nuit but sadly its discontinued. So I’m happy I got Vanillary in my collection plus it’s way more afordable than the Serge Lutens one. I might get this in full 100ml bottle as soon as I’ve use up my 30ml bottle.

Decode

I agree that this has a bit of a play-doh smell, but in a good way. I normally find scents with strong vanilla a little boring but this...this is the best skanky vanilla scent I have ever smelled. It's sexy, sweet, and a bit dirty. Honestly for the price point this is very good.

Guerlinade

How rude of Vanillary!

This is a rude vanilla, extremely heavy on the indoles that play a weird magic with the tonka and natural vanilla. It's weird and compelling, overamped indoles verging on fecal, saved at the very last minute by a deep edgy sweetness redolent of Play-doh.

I was looking for a controversial vanilla, not the Olympéa kind nor the Manifesto one, and I found it.
It's skanky, not safe for work, and with the wrong skin chemistry this could totally spell disaster.

If someone wants to get rid of this little skanky number, PM me!

faelern

In my experience, this perfume has not been popular among my peers. My friend works at Lush, so she can pick up free and discounted products all the time, and she always brings me fragrances since she knows that I like them. She is usually very enthusiastic about her hauls, but she was incredibly hesitant to give this fragrance to me. She grimaced and told me that it was ok if I didn't like it. I understood what she meant from the first whiff.

It smelled like a zoo. Straight up like the ape house next to an ice cream stand on a hot day in the middle of July. It was rancid and animalistic yet cloying, and the vanilla was not cute. I am not a fan of vanilla in general, so I did appreciate the different side of the note, but it was too gross to want to smell again.

My whole group of friends took turns sniffing the scent, and everyone reacted with wrinkled noses. We struggled to find someone to pawn it off on since no one wanted to come within ten feet of the bottle. We finally forced our most polite friend to begrudgingly accept the fragrance, but he never wore it. Go figure!

YlangLover0912

I don’t like the spray version, is very sharp and intrusive.
But I prefer the solid perfume , is more buttery and creamy.

I don’t know why I bought the full bottle ; maybe because I used to have an addiction of love and hate of this fragance ( as some have mentioned it in other reviews).

One day I found that if I combine it with Ylangylang essential oil & Coromandel from Chanel it provides a very interesting aromatic composition, also I combined it with vanilla essential oil body cream.

*When I combined it in that way, I preferred to use it as a bath oil.

But I think that for the poor aromatic quality of this perfume it is expensive, and also I don’t like the bottle design.

If you are curious about this fragrance , buy the solid version, you will save your money and disappointment feelings.

My experience with Lush products and cosmetics has brought me with the conclusion that their hair and body products are worth to buy; but the skincare line and most of their perfumes are a waste of money ( some of them you can create them by watching a DIY youtube tutorial).

Porcelain-Doll

My mom bought the EDP spray bottle of Vanillary on a whim when we went to the Lush store together and bought lots of soaps. I rarely leave negative reviews but this is awful...reminds me of stale cream and literally a block of butter. It’s still sitting around her house as she hates throwing things out but neither of us can tolerate it now. It also turns quickly even when stored in a dark wardrobe...or maybe I just hate it even more now. Fit for the trash can. :(

I have had Vanillary before but I couldn't wear it. It smelled like urine on me. A couple of days ago I was thinking of the solid perfume and ordered it and to my surprise the solid perfume smells really good on me. I smell vanilla and jasmine most and a little tonka and it's a beautiful smell.

Update!
Some days I think it smells really good and some days I think it 's awful....hmm..

LoloB

Such a lovely concoction, Lush! So many vanilla fragrances turn to burned sugar on my skin, but Vanillary...Vanillary is wonderful, delicate, angelic. It's the solid perfume that I have - which may differ from EDP - I've heard from Lush associates that the solids are often softer versions of the fragrance. Whatever the case, it's truly lovely, making me feel an ethereal goddess every time I am graced by the scent. Well done!

lunic

This feels like I've bathed myself in rancid tanning lotion. Very harsh, dirty caramel scent.

There is a strong rancid opening, almost like flowers which are starting to die and have a strong 'off' smell.

It didn't change for me.

Angelicax1

I found this suffocating in the edt but it was good in the body spray and even better in the solid form. It doesn’t smell like a bakery vanilla imo, it’s floral and powdery. It smells the way a vanilla scented body powder would smell but I think that kinda adds to the appeal. It’s more fresh than a typical gourmand vanilla and satisfies my cravings for powdery scents in the Spring. A little goes a long way with this one.

zind

This is so strange. Considering the amounts of natural ingredients that Lush claim to use I expected something very different! I unfortunately have to agree with those who say this is sort of plasticy and unreal. It just doesn't smell like the note pyramid to me. I am not opposed to synthetic smelling scents, but this is just not a good one. Sorry, I just think it smells sickening and fake in a non-charming way and unfortunately that has been my experience with most of the Lush products I have tried. I often like vanilla notes that many find too synthetic, but not this. I wish I could explain what this smells like and write a helpful review, but I have no idea how to put this scent into words! Vanillary is not sweet, it is just thick and overwhelming with an un-impressive sillage

gmr1967

Yes ... pastry ... yes custard .... yes biscuits ... yes to everything there can be greedy in the world. It's my comfort zone perfume ... a kind of Linus cover to wear to change your mood, the course of the day, an unexpected event.

prettynasty

Love this. Nice sweet strong vanilla with a burnt sugary crunch. That's the best way I can think of to describe it. Great longevity for the price, like most Lush scents I've tried.

Lloves

Just toffee vanilla. A bit underwhelming especially for the price point

Khatun

I first smelled vanillary in a scrub Lush had and I LOVED it. I asked the in store staff and they said it was scented with Vanillary (apparently all their products typically reuse their roster of scents). Anyway - I bought the eau de Parfum spray and love it! Out of the hundreds of bottles I have I actually have used up almost all of my 1 oz bottle. It’s just one of those scents that’s easy to reach for because it’s never overpowering, never harsh, just a lovely mix of vanilla and jasmine. When I sniff this I think of vacation - I’ve done a lot of cruising and walking around different islands and this really brings back those memories. Sun & sand! I probably won’t buy another bottle just because I have so many other scents to work through but I’ve really enjoyed my time with you, Vanillary.

JustSimpleThings

A nice soft, warm vanilla scent. Very smooth, amber-y feel. Not fake vanilla, definitely real vanilla smell.

TallulahBea

Vanillary smells like....well Vanilla! Lots of it. A big cosy comforting warm blanket of vanilla. It lasts well, has decent sillage and gets compliments, in a "that smells really yummy" kind of way. I wear it on happy days and find it a very uplifting and friendly fragrance. Lush are a marmite brand, but I am definitely a fan!

SailorV

Buttery, deep, caramel-like vanilla. This might be quite a simple perfume, but I love it. There is a lovely realistic jasmine note in the opening that especially shone when I sampled Vanillary in warmer weather, but the rest of it is basically all vanilla. So warm, sweet and comforting. While it's not complex, it still manages to smell different from any other vanilla perfume I know. It has the Lush DNA and would layer beautifully with so many of their products, but it doesn't have the harsh bath bomb fizz/musty citrus/incense notes that make some of their fragrances more challenging. Even though I kind of understand how one could find it boring, Vanillary is pure delicious bliss to me. I plan to get a bottle next autumn.

Funny how some reviews call this plastic-like, I sometimes enjoy intentionally plasticy scents, but vanillary is the opposite of that to me. I guess it might not be that simple after all.

sibaraa

This so earthy smelling, kind of vanilla mixed with dirt. You have to let it sit for a while before you could smell the vanilla.

gtabasso

I find this weak and close to the skin. A weird vanilla. Somewhat synthetic and chemical feeling.Like vanilla crossed with embalming fluid in the top as the jasmine fights with the vanilla. The vanilla wins. Sweet yet dry. Not like cooking vanilla. Not boozy. Not marshmallowy. Just mediocre. Vanilla. I guess more like the kind you bake with minus the alcohol booziness.

AndraAmb

Another polarising Lush scent. I personally enjoyed it, but it is absurdly sweet, strong, and everlasting. A coworker of mine wore it as her signature scent and it was LOVELY on her, but when I wore it, it was over the top, with a mediocre last time. It is vanilla to the EXTREME, and yes, it does have a burnt-edge to it. Not for everyone but I did enjoy it for what it was worth.

gerjakeszter

I like Lush, but not this one. It smells bitter like burnt plastic. Like really burnt plastic. I found it horrible.

UnearthlyApothecary

I love this perfume, sweet cozy comfort in a bottle! Pure unadulterated vanilla goodness! I agree with the “dirty” vanilla comment. Maybe not for you if you like them clean and pretty. Very strong stuff, I like a teeny tiny spritz to the wrist for bed, that’s all I need. reminds me of an indie oil Alchemic Muse Vanilla Oak. I much prefer this. Seems like people either love it or hate it, for me, it’s a love!

LadyIva

Lush fragrances are not for everyone, because they’re very strong and somewhat ‘dirty’. I had Karma in the past, now I have Lust as a solid perfume, and I’ve just added Vanillary (the liquid version) to my collection. Vanillary is a raw, untamed, natural vanilla, amplified by a narcotic, indolic jasmine (the same one as in Lust). Vanillary is not very sweet, which is always a good thing in my book. The scent lasts 4-5 hours, because it doesn’t contain Iso E Super and similar synthetic gunk in the base; nevertheless, it projects magnificently while it lasts - it fills the room in an instant and leaves a gorgeous trail. This ‘butch’, unpolished interpretation of vanilla might be a bit too much to those who are used to sugary pink-coloured vanillin bombs; the scent is not exactly pretty, but it’s cool and memorable.

kbot

This is a review of the solid, which I prefer to the spray. I find that the volume is turned down in the solid format and you get more of a burnt sugar/vanilla/tonka vibe. The spray becomes too powdery and musty on my skin. I like to use this as a base combined with other Lush fragrances such as I'm Home and Cardamom Coffee. The drydown is a realistic and natural vanilla, like walking into someone's kitchen after baking--the cake is already on the table cooling next to a vase of flowers.

Fai P

When I first tried it, it smelled like warm, smoky vanilla.

I love that its notes are all very prominent yet uncomplicated.

After buying it, there were times it smelled like a melty cookie, but it had a plasticky edge to it.

I've sprayed it on my clothing and it clings, from a distance, it smells a little bit like incense as well but when I actually sniff it, it's a warm and cuddly vanilla again.

Interesting perfume, I love it though, it's very comforting.

scarlett.angel

I just bought this in the body spray version. Was so happy that Lush brought it out here, as I heard the EDP version gave some people rashes. If you love vanilla, tonka, jasmine, and a sweet but sexy comforting scent, then this is for you. I personally love this, and can't wait to use it during the cooler weather. It's perfect for spritzing all over you and your bedding, and snuggling up on the couch with your man. Both vanilla and jasmine are aphrodisiacs, and he loves Twilight on me, so I'm certain he'll go crazy over this, with jasmine being his favorite nocturnal blooming flower reminiscent of our nightly walks. Love!

"A serenade to the senses; this saucy but comforting fragrance is the perfect blend of sugar and spice.

An irresistible combination of floral jasmine and sweet vanilla absolutes lingers alluringly on the skin as luxurious tonka lends its rich and comforting aroma to the mix.

Spritz yourself all over with a perfume that's both nostalgic and sensual: the scent of home baking entangled with sweet liaisons. Sweetness never goes out of style."

Indeed Lush!

The_Entity

Smells good enough to eat, a warm vanilla that radiates all day long. If you don't like gourmand, stay away from this one

globato85

This smells like a vanilla candle. Not even a good quality one. A dusty vanilla candle on the discount shelf.

alidak

This is a tame, powdery vanilla. I was eager to test it, because I'm a big fan of their bath & body prudcts, and Vanillary is one of their most popular fragrances.I was left a little bit disappointed by this concoction, since it is not bad,but it isn't the wonderful dark vanilla I was expecting. I love a good spicy or powdery vanilla, but the Tonka bean overpowers this one. I know it is a natural perfume and they behave differently than "normal" eau de whatevers, but being called Vanillary, I was expecting more vanilla to be kicking. It isn't a true oriental, it isn't spicy or grandiose, it's a natural, comfort scent. Give this a try if you like natural scents that have a comforting, warm vibe. I don't hate it but I would rather prefer some other scents from them, I'm Home for example if we are staying in the same, warm gourmet vibe, which smells like a smoky hot chocolate.

mzh50

I had a small bottle of this a couple of years ago, and didn't use it much. This year, I bought a new bottle (hate the new plain packaging, btw.) Either the formulation has changed, or the ageing process removed the spicy note I get in the new bottle; the old one is overwhelmingly sweet. This is a scent I never wear on my skin, but spray on a pillow before sleep and it works like a charm: instant relaxation.

diluted paintbox

I don't really know why this is still on my shelf. I despise it. Had my period of vanilla obsession ten years ago and couldn't wait to purchase it. It is still almost full.

Christmas time. That's all I get. I hate Christmas time. And I also get really, really bad taste of perfumes. Too obvious, warm and likeable. Like every other basic shampoo or that smell that almost every lady that was before you in a public toilet leaves behind her.

Sorry to be so cruel, but I hate it.

Colchiques

J'ai le body spray. Pour moi c'est un parfum presque poudré. La vanille est bien présente mais ce n'est pas tout à fait linéaire. C'est un parfum parfait pour l'hiver ou pour le soir, il me réconforte !

HonestlyTruely4Realz

blind bought this, smells like room spray or some sort of candle ,very waxy, if you want a nicer vanilla try vanille west indies instead which is beautiful.

luv2teach

sweet vanilla, jasmine, and tonka. Maybe a touch of spice? I can't quite get through the different notes because I have the perfume solid ( I love these solids) because it has a strange plasticky sort of smell???

I've never been to a Lush store, but I have several of their perfume solids in tins. I have never had this weird smell in any of their other solids, so I'm unsure of what it is??

Definite sweet warm vanilla, indolic jasmine (a touch of the jasmine from their "Lust" fragrance.
It warms up nicely after a while, but up close it becomes cloying.

ingrid.superstar

- Honey
- Coffee + Creme Brulee Creamer
- A toasty marshmallow
- Hot vanilla sugar
- Warm plastic
- Vanilla shampoo followed by a hot blow-dryer
- Sandalwood?

Cozy, close, and yummy...but a little incomplete. I don't know what I would add, but it needs something to round it out.

O+M+D

I love this one so, so much. It's such a simple scent yet it's so hard to pinpoint what it smells like.

I think what I love about this perfume is that I really love vanilla, but I really love strong, bold scents. And in my limited experience, I always have to pick between one or the other. Vanilla is always such a safe and inoffensive choice.

But this is vanilla done offensively. You can easily overdo this, and give yourself or others a headache, and more than its strong projection there is just something about it that makes it polarizing.

I agree with the comments that said there is something plastick-y, or burnt to it. I think it must be the way Lush does jasmine, because I get that same rubber-y smell in Lust. I also think this is what gives it its offensive quality.

Charess

I don't know how I feel about this fragrance. On one hand, there's beautiful realistic vanilla bean extract, but on the other hand there's something very screechy and plasticky in this scent. From a distance, it smells nice, but from my skin it smells very chemical, like burned plastic?
So sad, because the beautiful dark vanilla is really there!

Sillage is moderate-heavy and longevity is about 6-8 hours. Great performance!

Angeldaisy

i have no idea why i enjoy Lush's rough and ready scents, but I do.
they are scratchy, rambunctious, down to earth (like actual scratchy earth), homemade in someone's kitchen scents. they don't smell of perfume, but they do smell of a mash up of essential oils.

i have no idea why i am a fan too, but i am. perhaps Lush scents remind me of people, of my family in particular. enthusiastic, experimental, inventive, not afraid to be exactly who they are, no matter the outcome. it's about imperfection being as perfect as perfection. and not making much sense sometimes, but not caring. why does everything have to make so much sense anyway? because most things don't.

in this i smell predominantly the tonka, vanilla and sandalwood. it smells slightly burnt, like cinder toffee. and there is something smoking in there.
so, it reminds me of bonfire night. my mum always sent us off filled with her yorkshire parkin, with a bag of homemade cinder toffee in our pocket to munch whilst watching the flames lap around that poor Guy's old socks.

and what wafts around might occasionally remind one, slightly, of a high end vanilla and sandalwood candle, this is scrumptious none the less. Lush indeed.

N8vDoll

Vanillary smells like rancid vanilla to me. It's vanilla abuse, I tell ya! They should rename it Vanilla Blasphemy.

jg2758

I don't know why I don't like this. It's a dense, almost marshmallow-y vanilla. It's not bad, but it's not something I'd seek out.

cinksm

I don't mind this scent. It's okay. There are days when I like it, but it's like a sweet vanilla flower.

kiraagold

Vanillary smells like that $70 candle you scored for $6 at TJMaxx--a little chipped at the edges but still classy and delicious AF.

It's a big cloud of ice cream cupcake, though a bit dirty, as if it had been picked up from the floor within the 5 second rule.

I ordered this online several months ago. I was so excited to get it but was so disappointed when it got here. I figured I couldn’t go wrong with it having a name like Vanillary and me loving Vanilla the way I do. This stuff just did not smell good at all to me...as a matter of fact after putting it on... I had to change my shirt to avoid the smell. Not only did it not smell good but it smelled downright bad. I really can’t even explain it, it was just not pleasant at all. I will add, that the day I received it in the mail, it had to stay in the mailbox a few hours and it was hot outside....possibly ruining it? I want to be fair and not rule out that possibility. This stuff does last though, I’ll give it that. I wish my current favorite, Comptoir Sud Pacifique - Vanille Abricot had the staying power that this one has. I have found that the stinkiest perfumes last an annoyingly long time, while the ones I consider to be the best smelling, leave me way to soon.

dame piglet

I have the one ounce spray and I've used about half.

First of all, I love jasmine and it loves me. And I have the same relationship with Vanilla.
In me, this opens with probably about 60/40 jasmine to Vanilla. Then the ratios switch.

Once it sits for a minute or two, tonka teams up with the Vanilla and the two tag-team against the Jasmine and nudge it to the background.

Then, it spends the rest of its time as an almost nutty (but not peanut) sweet vanilla dream. I don't see sandalwood ever mentioned as a note, but it seems like it's in there... not especially strong, but enough to keep this "perfume-y" as opposed to fully edible. Maybe it's the tonka mixed with the remaining Jasmine.

This is one that clings to clothing really, really well. If it's on one of my cardigans, I will definitely know it even if it's been two weeks since I last wore it. Not quite as strongly as Lust, but close.

TBH, on me, this is a man magnet. I had this on layered with Snowcake on a windy day and several people (mostly men) raved about how incredible it smelled.

I also layer it with a tiny bit of Lust. Unlikely pairing, I know, but on me it's a match made in heaven.

Kath Grace

On me this is butter, vanilla and sugar! Just like gooey cookie dough. Lush is not known as a perfume house so don't expect an incredibly well balanced fragrance created by a master perfumer. Just enjoy it for what it is! I am glad to have a little bottle of this amongst my Dior, Givenchy, Guerlain and Chanel perfumes!

RB2002

This review is for the solid, I have not tried the spray. I have the solid in the push-up style tube that is no longer being made, they now come in tin containers. I keep my Lush products in the fridge because I've had their products go rancid before.

To my nose it's real vanilla with jasmine, and burnt/ smoky caramel. I would prefer it without the jasmine and burnt caramel notes. Floral notes in particular really ruin vanilla/ gourmands for me. I do love the vanilla bean note in this. If this were a single note vanilla bean like this note, it’d be perfect for me. The push up solid is very strong though, it even lasts through a shower. I’m not sure if the current offerings have that kind of staying power or not.

Knuxs

This has always been a hit of miss for me. Maybe it's the handcrafted unique nature of LUSH perfumes, but sometimes it's wonderful and at others it's a stinky mess. Batch variation is likely a very real problem and it could explain the polarised reviews here.

So male or female scent? As with most perfumes the sweet fragrances traditionally will lean more towards female wear and I think that's true here. Especially with jasmine being added to the mix. Vanillary is by its nature sweet yummy chocolate smelly goodness, but it does have a darker more rougher edge to it that means men could wear this easily.

The rougher nature of this fragrance and inclusion of the more masculine long lasting ingredients does mean longevity is pretty good and projection is fair to good as well. A perfume you can wear at any time of the day and year, although I personally find it performs better on my skin when it's warmer out.

I think the burnt nature of the tonka bean set's it apart from all vanilla type perfumes, but equally that's the problem here. A scent like Tom Ford's Tabacco Vanille is reliable and consistent throughout its wear. You get a bad batch of this, or a poor skin chemistry reaction and you have a very artificial and cloying mess on your hands.

In short to me it smells like a wonderful suncream you might wear to a beach and in general people around me have said it smells wonderful. Safe scent for work and generally versatile. So overall - 7/10

appleorchard

A really interesting and different gourmand. It smells exactly like a freshly baked baguette covered in melted chocolate. I don't detect vanilla.

ZBear

I bought Vanillary because the Lush associate recommended it to warm up Lust, so I got the small bottle. I agree slightly with Konga5000 that there is something reminiscent of Glade vanilla air freshener with this one. It's not an unpleasant fragrance, but just smells slightly artificial and a bit cheap

Agree with some of the other reviews that recommend layering Vanillary with other scents. Used like that, it is quite nice.

minag

IVanilla-focused fragrances tend to be 'safe' and 'easy'. This vanilla fragrance is much less safe and much less easy than most. It is the scent of a midnight tryst. Of sweet, hot bodies melting into each other. Of a lurid affair. It's unsettling. It's powerful. It lasts forever. And it's magical. It settles to a beautifully creamy vanilla butter-laced sandalwood at the end, but during the top and middle notes, where the indolic jasmine is prominent, this is anything but cozy. And I love it! I adore it! I will never part with it.

I have the 10ml spray.

marciasek

My solid version smells like yummy vanilla butter cookies. I like it a lot.

Cocolisa

I absolutely love vanilla fragrances so after seeing the notes and a bunch of positive reviews here I was quite excited to get to test this out. And ugh I really disliked it. To me Vanillary is a disgusting oily, fatty, urine and expired old vanilla stank. Someone below even mentioned farts and it' really isn't an exaggeration. This stuff was also super potent and stayed on my skin for hours and hours, which can be a good thing if you like the scent. The final dry down was less offensive than the initial yuck but this one's not worth it for me.

Tovah

Gorgeous, incredible vanilla. This brings to mind Shalimar...Shalimar pure perfume; not some current incarnation of a masterpiece. Also, I get scent memory of a perfume my mother had called Aquarius Cream Perfume. I don't know why...

Vanillary smells so real, and so alive. Vanillary is woody, elegant, and sweet, but it's definitely not dessert. Like all of Lush's products, Vanillary has to be worn to be understood. It smells unique on every wearer, sometimes to the point of being unrecognizeable. The lasting power is truly incredible...this perfume becomes part of me!

skyelightfetish

Huge, warm and sweet vanilla, no more and no less. If it's your thing, go for it, if not - stay well clear.

I like eating this kind of stuff now and then, but I don't want to smell like a rich desert, so personally it's 3/10

ellebunny

Vanillary is a super intoxicating vanilla bean pod fragrance that I would describe as "vanilla extract aphrodisiac". It is absolutely stunning, and it's not hard to see why it's a best seller. However, this thing is SO temperamental. It smells different every time I wear it. Some days it's the most beautiful vanilla scent with a baked cake vibe, sometimes it's rich and boozy, like the finest vanilla cognac--amazing. Beautiful. But the downside is, sometimes the jasmine really comes out in full force and unleashes its indolic wrath, which translates to cat pee at times. :( I'll continue to wear this, but I have to be really careful with it.

Konga5000

FOOEY!
I initially tried this in the store months ago and did not care for it.
Then I came here and saw so MANY great reviews that I thought I had really missed something.
So today I purchased the small purse sized bottle from LUSH ...... and all I get is Glade Vanilla Bathroom freshener!

I want my $21.99 back!

terrance*michigan

Pure vanilla scent. I love it! I have the solid perfume. I dabbed it on once before heading out to the car and my brother thought it was horribly strong and rolled the windows right down...

artisy

This works best as an enhancer paired with other scents. It's mostly sweet in a vanilla frosting kind of way but there is a touch of white florals to my nose buried under all the sugar. It is very much a baked good type of vanilla - supple and buttery and a little airy.

For pairing with other Lush products, I think it pairs well with Lust, Imogen Rose, Sikkim Girls, and Sun.

Konga5000

There is nothing special about this one...at all.
My favorite LUSH scent is Karma.
I really really really really really wish that LUSH would feature more than like 7 frags in the stores here in the USA. Dear God fix this! There are so many that I want to try!!!!!!! So many to possibly BUY as well. WTF is with like a million different OVER PRICED bath bombs in the stores ? Sheesh. Get with it LUSH. I want to like you more.

Lyndale

The initial opening of this is probably responsible for a lot of the negative comments, this isn't the sort of scent you want to apply just before walking out of the door. On first application, there is the slightly burnt note that others have mentioned. It comes across as slightly ureic, even, but it very quickly fades as the scent adapts to the body.
After half an hour, at most, it has warmed into a soft, rich, creamy vanilla. There is nothing thin, watery or artificial about it, like a good hug.
Vanillary is your favourite sweater, straight out of the drier on a cold morning, curling up with your lover, a good book and a soft cat, while it rains outside. It is the essence of warmth and security.

Fallstar

Buttery, warm vanilla cut by sweet-sharp jasmine and just a hint of something caramelized lurking beneath. There’s nothing synthetic or ‘vanilla essence-y’ about this scent.

Vanillary smells so delicious I’m half tempted to flick the tip of my tongue over the surface of the solid to see whether it tastes good. Looking at those flecks of natural vanilla it seems entirely possible. Rich, silky smooth and sensual, but not overpoweringly sweet, Vanillary is like a well-balanced dessert made by a talented pastry chef.

In the same way that I love crème brulée but wouldn’t want to eat one for breakfast, I think there’s a time and a place for Vanillary. I couldn’t wear it every day! But it certainly has its place amongst my greener, fresher or more floral favourites.

Lissa1991

I really love vanilla scents, when the vanilla is well done - meaning, not overly sweet and cloying. And the vanilla in this is quite beautiful. However I have a big problem with the jasmine note in this. I find this mix of vanilla and jasmine quite nasty and unpleasant. It's actually the first perfume I smell that makes me want to throw up. It doesn't help that this smells quite strong and seems to last forever, being almost impossible to make it disappear. I was actually quite happy about the opening but then I was completely off put by this.

SwishingtonGrimble

The more I use it the more I love it, like vanilla on toast. Buttered vanilla. It's tasty and I may have to stray from the solid and buy a bottle - that said, for a solid, it's fairly good.

SaraSeantae

Not too sweet and a true vanilla scent. There is a hint of a rubbery undertone but it isn't offensive. The floral note reads more like a lilly and I detect something almost like banana in it that drives me crazy. A daytime smell, warm like summer. It doesn't work well on everyone.

Longevity and silage are on the low side.

Inky Le Guin

Buttery vanilla glory. A perfect spring scent or just anytime you want to smell delicious. Not really a gourmand, the jasmine is strong and makes it more sophisticated but it smells buttery and sweet with floral note. This is one of my favorite perfumes of all time. I wear it constantly and it could be a signature scent. It's simple but perfect as is, no need to layer it but you could certainly to help another scent that you felt needed a helping hand by the vanilla, Tonka Bean(swoon) and jasmine. I highly recommend this and I will not stop buying it as long as it is available. It is definitely a daily type perfume and one I just turn to constantly, a staple.

Nathalie xoxo

This is a heavy, burnt vanilla. It smells more like honey to me than vanilla. Like few others, the first spray smells like a men's public bathroom and not a clean one.
BUT, after about 2 or 3 hours, it becomes very pleasant, sweet, soft, creamy floral.
If you want to avoid the strong begining, spray your clothes the day before, it will smell good in the morning.

LordCharfield

Great vanilla scent with amazing 14 hour plus longevity. Also try Chopard Casmir for a wonderful unisex vanilla, as featured on the Fragrantica Bargain Fragrances series. These are similar, but different and although Casmir doesn't quite have the longevity of Vanillary, it only costs around £20 for 100ml. Both are a must in my collection:-)

TeeTeeRarr

This is one very weird vanilla perfume! If you want a pleasantly strange vanilla, try Vanillary. It slightly reminds me of Lush Twilight but with the lavender replaced by vanilla, amongst other things. I first tried their 2ml sample and I guess I didn't like it because I no longer had it but in the past few months, I've been on a vanilla binge and remembered it so I went to the store and tried it on. This time, I LOVE it! Got a bottle. It's unlike any other vanilla out there and it has amazing silage and longevity. You only need 1-2 sprays. I was worried that the florals would take over as they tend to do with other perfumes. Thankfully, Vanillary is all about the vanilla. Grown, sexy and quirky vanilla, not the sugary cotton candy mess infesting the market! It's totally unlike any niche or indie vanillas out there too. Vanillary is just different and occupies a space of its own, much to my pleasure :).

Cassiano

Vanillary was launched in 2009, as part of the line of fragrances called "Greatest Hits", which brought some creations of the former perfume’s division known as B Never Too Busy To Be Beautiful.

It's a soothing and slightly sweet scent or, as we like to call in perfumery, "comfort scent". It has, in its composition, vanilla absolute, jasmine absolute, tonka bean, in addition to chemical compounds as Lilial − which has a floral aspect of Muguet − and Benzyl Cinnamate, which reinforces the floral-sweet nuances of the fragrance.

This perfume had some faces: an oval bottle with a golden cap, bottles with labels and box printed with stripes in pink, etc. that made it, visually, too feminine. With the approach of a more diverse audience, it was necessary to change the face of the product. My bottle (10 ml) is part of the former visual identity when the perfumes came in black bottles and in three formats: 30 ml, with 20% of essence (parfum); 10 ml, with 15% of essence (the boundary between EDP and Parfum) and solid perfume, with 10% of essence. Currently, the bottle brings a yellow label with vanilla-orchids printed.

On the skin, the result is tasty. I used this word because the smell of this fragrance stimulates our taste buds, which means, it's a gourmand fragrance.

In Vanillary, the jasmine absolute opens space for the vanilla absolute, letting this one shine as the big star. But the jasmine is present all the time in the background, as the clouds and the sky that make up a painting and no one cares. However, without them, the artwork loses meaning.

The vanilla in this fragrance is not liqueur or smell like the essence used in cooking, with that synthetic aspect, which is widely used in perfumery. Here, the absolute is rich and was mixed with tonka bean, resulting in an aroma of crème brûlée, with its caramel burnt. Therefore, many people feel a smoky vanilla, like cookies baking in the oven. In my case, as a descendant of the Portuguese, the first memory that came to my mind were the Pastéis de Belém, when they come warm at the table. I really enjoyed it!

Vanillary is super shareable and lasts for many hours (more than 12, without losing power). However, as the company's perfumes are always very strong, it is wise to have caution in the application, especially if it is not cold. Otherwise, the comforting aspect will turn into a very cloying fragrance.

Rumbar

It gives me headache..

Libran

There is no getting away from the fact that this a love or hate fragrance. I have a passion for anything vanilla and coconut and this fits the bill for me. Vanillary is not subtle or delicate in any way, it is brash and in your face. There is no coconut in the ingredients but it somehow has that hot suntan lotion aroma as well. I only use one spritz in my cleavage and that is enough and it lasts for hours, I can still smell it on my clothes when I do the laundry. If you want delicate and ethereal, do not buy it, if you like full on, sexy raw vanilla with that come hither "waft" this is for you.

I should adore this one looking at the notes, so each time I'm in Lush I try it and I'm always disappointed. The distinctive Lush base shows up strongly in it and clashes with the notes, and really bothers me. Usually I like Lush but this one just doesn't work for me. In the dry down the vanilla is lovely, but it takes too long to get there for me. Lasts 6 hours, moderate sillage.
