It's basically just powder. It literally smells like cotton balls, in their completely synthetic glory. There are some hints of perhaps a little bit of fruit and musk, but everything is overpowered by the smell of powdery cotton. It's not an offensive smell really, but I definitely don't like it. It also will disappear and sneak back up again in waves, which is just strange.

Scent Description: Powder
Sillage: Medium Strong, Comes in Waves
Longevity: ~4 hours

Twentzel

It’s unique but no lasting power…O_o
Sad :(

PrincessKitana

I agree with the reviews that it’s angelic fairy scent. It’s kind of like a feather. This scent is definitely powdery to me. But it’s kind of missing a character or twist or deliciousness. Even though i like DG pour femme and Dama Bianca which are also feathery like lightweight fragrances, but they have a twist and deliciousness. Don’t know if my description makes sense to anyone 😅

Chesf

artemisia doesn't smell like artemisia at allll. it saddens me cuz i looooove mugwort/sagebush/wormwood. they are my favorite smell growing up accompanying drag boat festival. But this one feels moony, too sweet creamy, and ain't fresh or inspiring.

archerries

It's fine. Underwhelming for the price and poor longevity. Unsure how this would reflect Artemis as it's quite a boring fragrance.

TulipSnake

Trying to describe this to someone who never smelled it is surprisingly hard. Sure, it is predominantly powdery and for many scents that descriptor is enough to give you an idea. Artemisia (a plant synonymous with bitterness, not named after the Greek goddess but after the Greek queen who built the first mausoleum for her husband/brother Mausolus) is more than powder. The nectarine gives it a fruity fresh quality underlined by the apple and green notes but at no point is this more fresh than powdery.
It is very warm too, not so warm that it would be too much for a warmer day but it definitely wouldn't feel out of place in winter either. It's a scent that feels like your favourite cardigan, right for most days and most occasions, always there when you need a bit of warmth. You could also think of it like a warm hug of your favourite aunt, very pleasant, nice, comforting.
One of my all-time favourites.

LolCitt

Artemisia is one of my all time favourites. I haven't yet been able to afford a full bottle, but I'm probably on my 10th sample. It starts out sharp and green, then passes a strange musky phase before finally settling into a beautiful, soft powdery musk with sweet tones. The silage is intimate and I find the longevity perfect.

I live in Scandinavia and this smells like a calm, soft early summer evening with nothing to do and nothing to worry about. Absolutely gorgeous and I can't wait to buy a full bottle.

ioanaszmeu

A "clean girl" perfume for a lady of aristocratic origins, a modern blend but with a slight nod to the vintage. If you're the type of person who thinks a bit of powder and flowers = grandma smell, dated/vintage, then maybe this perfume is not for you right now(give it several years,
tastes change)
This is for the powder connoisseurs, who can appreciate some dove soap elements.
Elegant, classy, sophisticated, soft, airy, clean powdery floral. If you like teint de neige and dama bianca, give this a try, they're in that same family. This is less sweet and more "niche" smelling than dama bianca, but they give a similar vibe.
The sillage is very soft, and the fresh opening doesn't really last. But the drydown is really really nice. I sprayed this on clothes and the scent lingers for hours and it's divine.
Very good out of the shower scent, or before bedtime.

kestrele

I blind bought this based on reviews and the listed notes. In the cap, it smelled light and powdery, rather nice. But it was a completely different story on my skin. I didn't want it to be true, but it smells exactly like nail polish remover!! It's dry, sharp, and chemically. I cannot detect vanilla or musk. It is slightly green with some florals, but it is not a fresh scent. I can't smell any fruit or tea. I normally like powdery scents but this really smells like my grandmother. Does it need to macerate?
Even after an hour or two it still smells like I spilled nail polish remover on myself. I'm confused.

Maybe I'll layer it with something to make it more palatable. I'm kinda sad since the bottle is so cute and the notes sounded like the perfect fragrance till I actually smelled it. Bad bottle???

Update: The scent is growing on me and it smells less like nail polish remover now. It is still very powdery, not sweet at all, and strangely it is headache-inducing. It hurts to breathe around it. Maybe I'm allergic?? I want to like it. I will continue to test.

Norathar

It's a mild, unassuming floral. There's something in the top note that isn't great - sort of an artificial, plasticky scent - but it wears off quickly. I get violets heavily from the scent, pleasant, a bit powdery, a lot soapy. Very inoffensive, but if you're looking for a light and pleasant scent, I personally prefer Luna.

AngelClaw

I do love this scent, but does not last at all! Have not found anything like it tho :-(

Emmetsmom

Smells like plastic for 30 or so mins, then it’s gone.

SmellsJustLike

Soapy, elegant powderpuff and crushed lipstick this smells to me like the bottom of a makeup drawer in the most sensual way. It makes me want to wear silk and have my hair in an updo. I don’t understand the hate for this one.. it’s clean but got bite.

FragHelen

If you want to feel like a Victorian English Lady, embroidery in hand, staring wistfully out into the rain from your drawing room, this is what you need. Personally while I think it's beautifully done, it's a bit too powdery and soapy for me to wear often, but I can appreciate it. I might wear it to bed

atv315

Delicate, powdery and soapy. Not for me but beautifully done. There’s ever so slightly a sharpness for me that would stop me from using it (which happens with a lot of perfumes in my case so I think that’s much more me than the average person), otherwise I can imagine enjoying putting this on before bed.

Lykopa

She’s powdery, she’s floral, she’s soft. She smells like ready a dusty book with an old friend. But HEAVY on the powder. I bought a full size for a close friend of mine and decided to get one for myself as well. It becomes a clean skin scent as it develops. It’s not for me personally, but wow is it a beautiful bottle.

LordofMeow

I do not like this fragrance. I really wanted to like it and a lot of people that have used it make it sound wonderful, but I had to send mine back. I sprayed it on and it immediately smelled like Raid roach killer. It didn't settle down or anything for several hours. Eventually, it still smelled like roach killer. After a shower and a lot of soap, it was somewhat tolerable.

GracieLions

I honestly don't know how I feel about this perfume. The first few times I smelled it, I absolutely loved it! Then suddenly I started to notice a kind of plasticy smell. Then plastic was all I could smell. Then someone passed me on the street wearing a gorgeous scent that I found familiar, and I realised it was Artemisia!
I tend to go for perfumes that can be layered in order to help make me smell like different places I've travelled to, and I just cannot figure out Artemisia's context. Definitely, worth trying though.

Diajanna

I find this scent very unusual. I have a love-hate relationship with this one. Idk but I bought it, felt underwhelmed and had to return it then I bought it again and there are days I love it and now I barely touch it. Maybe I’ll have to figure out when the best time to wear this

GirlOnFire

If you liked Maison Margiela’s Lipstick On or Chanel’s Misia or Donna Karan’s Cashmere Mist, you would love Artemisia.

BreakfastCerealBath

Weird relationship with this fragrance. Initially I smelled the inside of the cap, and it was a beautiful, shimmering, warm musk.

With this great first impression, I was curious to know how it reacted with my skin and scent- I immediately regretted it as it was outrageously latex-y, combined with the musk it reminded me of condoms and a strong desire to shower.

It later settled into the original fragrance and complimented my skin. Whilst beautiful, it doesn’t make up for the initial application.

Lord Lucan

On excellent fragrance second only to Penn haligan's impressive a wonderful gift for any woman in your life.
The smell of vanilla the powdery scent the green apple lily jasmine it's all there. Very feminine, very enticing and absolutely aphrodisiac of a fragrance.
Only on very rare occasions has a scent been found to be absolutely fantastic and mind-blowing by me, and Artemesia was one of them. Highly recommend.

natafriden

Very powdery at the start, but evaporates from the skin almost momentarily =|
I can detect the faint scent of jasmine and vanilla, with a slight melted plastic note. And it's gone in, like, 30 minutes. Some will say that if you cannot detect a perfume, then it suits you, but I prefer to catch even a small whiff once in a while. Not for me

floralgourmandlover

It smells clean, but not in a laundry way. In like a hospital way. It's bad.

Katchke

This one confused me. Opened up REALLY weird on me, almost smelled like fresh/melted plastic or rubber. Decided to try and trust the process and eventually the plastic dried down to something very cinnamon-y and pleasantly neutral. Judging from other reviews I might have gotten a bad decant but WOW this was weird. Noting to try again at some point.

kokki

Smells like nectarine baby powder, at least for the fleeting moment that is is detectable.

MysticalArugula

I would believe you if you told me this is how the gates of heaven smelled like🕊👼 Truly angelic, white floral with a powdery vanilla moss finish. I for some reason correspond this with this soviet fairytale enchanted princess named Vasilisa the Beautiful. Full of elegance, kindness, grace and beauty. If you need for a more recent reference- this smells how Inika's solo voice sounds like singing Jericho. I am probably going to invest in a full bottle because it's such a fitting fragrance that I would love to be one of my signatures✨️ Sillage is intimate and longevity is more 4-6 hours

This smells to what we call in Spanish Pomada de ganado or some ointment for back pain or bag balm. Not a fan

MissAnnette

I love powdery scents so I’m really sad this is not powdery at all to me. Don’t blind buy if you are searching for powdery scent. The Favourite would fit the bill better.

Herwitchinesss

This is a lovely powdery violet scent that I find quite hard to describe as there is a note to it that makes me feel quiet nostalgia, a bittersweet longing entering in my mind the longer I attempt to focus on what it is I'm smelling.

It is a comforting scent despite that disquiet I feel; as the reviewer below mine said, it really does feel like a warm hug though I'm not sure why it feels that way to me. Perhaps this is the scent my late brother in law wore - the kit was originally his but given to me after he passed before he had time to use more than one vial up, or perhaps there's just simply a note of my childhood buried in the formula for it. In either case, I'll definitely be buying at least a large decant of it if not a full bottle.

Darling of Disquiet

I took quite awhile with this girl and I'm glad I did because it has become one of my favorite comfy fragrances. It's not something that I would wear to go out and it's definitely a fragrance that I wear for myself and goodness gracious I absolutely love the scents that I wear 100% for me myself and I. This is a fragrance that I like to spray once or twice on my scarf and take a walk in the snow with my girls. IDK what about it makes it super super comforting to me but it's like a nice warm hug for me. I think in the last 7 months of having it it has started to be a comfy time for bed scent for my girls also. Which is something I truly love because I am a huge fan of keeping a little bit of my mother's favorite perfumes that she wore when I was growing up on hand just so that when I want to smell her I always can and hopefully I'm making great olfactory memories for my girls.

Mistress Eva

My review is for a bottle I bottle in 2014.

Violet and light musk are by far the most dominant notes, with detectable unsweetened vanilla and lily-of-the-valley. A bit of nectarine emerges as it dries down. This is a great hot weather, spring, or early fall scent. It is utterly inoffensive, but not boring. I don’t find it sexy or sensual, and it doesn’t need to be. Artemisia is a refined, office-appropriate scent that can be dressed down if needed. A solid “like” for me!

Feminine. The projection is intimate to arms-length. The longevity is moderate.

Binkie163

I agree with the 'did I jut put water on my wrist' comment, scent barely detectable and vanished in seconds. Thank goodness it was a 2ml from gift set, I would not be happy if I had paid for this. I used the whole 2ml and cant even smell it on my clothing/sleeve! I am a fan of Penhaligons but this is really disappointing.

Sugar&parrots

I like this brand but agree with the review below saying this is basically plain water [sad face]

aczwy

a bit of fleeting nectarine; the dry down is basically pure baby powder....

dismalharmony

Uh, did I just put water on my wrists? I’m not exaggerating when I say that I smell almost nothing. It fades from artificial cherry to a virtually undetectable sweet musk in the space of 5 minutes. Sticks around for a couple of hours, tops, though you’d have to keep burying your nose in your wrist to ascertain this. I can’t even say that it has no redeeming qualities, because that would imply that it has any qualities at all. It isn’t quiet… it’s silent.

ldg89

Alright I will try to summarise it for those ones who are particularly into life experiences. When I was a little girl, I remember distinctly what it felt like when you smell your new doll’s hair and skin. Now after that plastic (which I personally like and find absolutely unique) comes a soft baby powder which keeps you warm. The amber is quite light and breathy so this perfume won’t choke you in summer. People normally feel very comfortable around it.
For me it’s one of the new favourites, particularly because it’s a childhood smell.

ShivRoy

Something in this gives me a latex smell. Like hospital gloves, or a latex suit. I’ve tried it on multiple occasions and the dry down smells like powdering of a latex suit. While I’m not opposed to it, it isn’t what I want to smell like.

Yes Malena

The green notes at the opening remind me of galbanum, but this perfume has an overall softness, so it makes an interesting setting for a galbanum note. I like it. I would like to wear this in Spring. I will not buy it because of the price. Beautiful.

Ksj_

This is a beautiful fragrance.

It has a uniqueness at its core, surrounded by familiarity. I think this may be full bottle worthy and is definitely worth sampling. Also, I can't see people not appreciating this fragrance when you wear it.

I look forward to wearing it the next time I wish to enjoy my own company.

8/10 and completely unisex

cheviota

I was excited to try Artemisia due to the rave reviews, but this smells exactly like plastic to me. I sense absolutely no sweetness that the notes suggest. No florals, no vanilla, just straight up plastic that's been doused in hairspray. I agree with @Konga5000 that it reminds me of the smell of a high-end salon: artificial and musky. Definitely not blind buy safe.

jaclyncxh

This scent is an emotion. It is powdery, slightly sweet, clean fresh linen, a soft musky milky scent of a child or a puppy. Soft and fluffy. Perhaps there is this slightly synthetic note but in fact it makes the scent more complex, like the smell of dolls or play dough, it's quite addictive, interesting as iris is not listed as a note. I associate this with comfort, a kind, feminine experience of love. The scent of a mother, sister. Good for all seasons and preferably day time.

necrocrunk

I invested in two samples from Penhaligon's out of curiosity- a feminine and masculine scent- and I was worried about this one. After I purchased it I decided to peruse the reviews and notes and seeing powdery made me nervous. I absolutely HATE powdery scents as I grew up around my grandma wearing only the powder Avon perfumes. Never again, I've vowed. But this... this is quite nice! The powdery scent keeps seeming like it's going to show up though it never does- I can definitely detect the 'caramel' opening notes though it leans more sweets than a warm caramel. And then, as it dries down, it becomes a nice, sweet and vanilla floral. It constantly edges on powdery while saying refined and light. It feels almost faery-like in quality. It's quite a nice scent. I don't know if I'd wear it save for special occasions, but it is very nice and I recommend a sample first!

My only gripe? this perfume has quite poor longevity. I put on a few today when I woke up to test longevity and this was the only one I couldn't smell after around 7 hours of wear. It's not very strong in general, so keep that in mind when buying.

Fiaooo

Got this from a fragrance swap today and I'm absolutely in love. It's a soft, comforting powdery scent . Lightly floral with some tea in the background. Can't seem to get enough of it!
I thought I was reminded of iris but it doesn't seem to be one of the notes.
My only issue would be that while it lasts really long (I can still smell it after 6+ hours), sillage is super poor. More or less a skin scent for me, I can smell it only when my hands are close to my face, or if I deliberately sniff at my wrists. Really wish the performance was better especially since Penhaligon's ain't cheap.
Nevertheless, I'm tempted to get a full bottle of my own!

Kaylovely

Love this beautiful scent, based off the note description I wouldn't have purchased. It's not powdery, atleast nit baby powder if so. Beautiful, unique designed to be soft and intimate. I ordered from NOSE paris as always.

Aleauv

this scent is so yummy! it reminds me of madeleine cookies dipped into earl gray tea on a summer day, uplifting, classic and deliciously sweet.

ravenna

I definitely get the nectarine and violet. I dont find it too powdery on my skin, but it smells vintage and VERY feminine. Some people seem to find nectarine synthetic/plasticky (like in JM Nectarine Blossom & Honey) but on my skin it just smells fruity.

monicaaooo

This is a very light and airy scent. I like how nm99 put it, it's "dainty." It wasn't love at first sniff for me because I could barely smell it on paper. But after several wears, I've become smitten. It smells of soft powdery vanilla. The nectarine smells more like a light peach to me and I can detect the musk and violet. I find it best to spray it on right after a shower. I'd say this is a gentle morning scent. Like you're still cozy in your bed, the alarm is just about to go off but the sun is shining lightly through the open window.

nm999

This perfume is so pretty and dainty. It has a whimsical quality to it. On my skin, I smell mostly vanilla and a little violet.

Danae27

I received this as a sample from a very generous member on here and it was an instant love. Powdery, musky and slightly sweet with a good dose of iris and violet. I feel very sophisticated when I wear this but this is also cosy enough to wear as a bedtime scent. I watched a YouTube reviewer say it was the scent of a ballerina and I completely agree.

pweedyadel

My initial reaction to this is “wow” this smells nice but it’s similar to DKNY Cashmere Mist which I have in my collection but Artemisia is less musky (powdery) than the DKNY. It’s a little sweet, perfectly powdery, perfectly musky and perfectly floral.
I will dress Lady Diane with this scent. It’s for those well groomed ladies who are feminine, sophisticated, luxe and classy in every word. It’s a beautiful calm cozy scent in my opinion. Worth a purchase 👌

perfume_obsessed

Reminds me of Guiliette by Tocca, which reminds me of Sicily by D&G, and for that reason I love it! Of the three though I think this is closest to Sicily as it’s a bit sweeter and warmer than Guilette, which is a bit fresher and more crisp. All three of them dry down to a beautiful soft soapy scent that is so comforting. I’m going to need a full bottle.

RainbowGirl

Unusual fragrance. Smells almost brown sugary in the opening, that I think is the nectarine. A little sweet, a little floral (mainly violets), a little green, with vanilla, green tea, and oakmoss. Smells almost like a powdery sweet tea...with vanilla. It's a little strange... but also unique. I'm not sure I would ever wear this again, but it was fun to try!

Beautscnt

This is my favorite nighttime routine parfum. It’s very feminine. I also use the body lotion for an extra oomph in longevity. Even when you get a whiff of it in the middle of the night, it’s soothing & calming.

Cosmina07

This is how a lady from Victorian period would smell. The bottle is beautiful, one of my favorites. The scent is powdery with peachy, vanilla sparkles. Some beautiful, fragile flowers in the back, blended so beautiful, a nostalgic smell but discreet. This is is a perfume for your soul

penguinrabbit

Slight nectarine/peach at first on top of musky, powdery subtle floral vanilla. A blind buy for me one some I'm so pleased I got. Well blended, well rounded.

Madakem

Oh my goodness! So cosy, warm and clean! Nothing about this perfume is offensive! A lovely musk-based blend that is not at all alcohol-y, which is so rare nowadays. One of my favourites!

Ewi

Beautiful, soft relaxing scent. Cannot stop wearing it, the only downside is that longevity is not the greatest 4-5 hours but I reapply. It is calming and a bit motherly to me. At the beginning a bit stronger on musk and then beautiful blend of violet and vanilla in the heart and dry down. Love 😍

sallyming

I have not smelled Versace Baby Rose Jeans but Artemisia reminded me of Red Jeans' dry down.

Jessica_Jones

Artemisia vs Cashmere Mist EDP:
First impression, they smell similar.
But side by side, the comparison contrasts their notes; CM smells like straight up white musk and vanilla, maybe some florals, warm and nice. Artemisia smells more complex, medicinal, green, with some honey note (my boyfriend said it reminds him of Le Male? lol).
CM wins for me considering it's more pleasant and the price point.

CurrencyThat

A dainty powdery cloud of vanilla. Clean and fresh and evoking of coziness. It's a comforting scent that keeps me sniffing my wrists for more. Powder, powder, powder all the way and a difficult scent to dislike. I want to wear this everywhere for the sheer comfort it evokes. Oddly, I struggle to say it's office-appropriate since it's snuggly and cozy but its demure and inoffensive nature allows it to be. It may be drowned out if worn during evenings out but otherwise is appropriately a daytime scent and most decidedly bedtime-worthy. Not the scent I expected from a perfume named after a goddess of wild animals and hunt but considering the same deity was also considered a goddess of vegetation, chastity and childbirth, why not. Artemisia is a feminine, graceful fragrance that can do it all.

clemmy

When I was a young lady I used to spend lots of time in London. Any Penhaligon shop on my way I had to enter.I bought a small decanter of Artemisia, unfortunately at that time I could not afford a full bottle. I think often to that scent and I miss it. It evokes to me the beautiful clean shopping roads of London in a sunny day and the fragrance is so well balanced that picking notes is almost impossible. Clean, classy, expensive lady. (Now I have this terrible impulse to grab a bottle). 4/5

Malifiscent

White, fluffy, soft, fuzzy, all the clean white adjectives you can think of, that is Artemisia. It is a beautifully done clean scent- just light, airy and fluffy enough, with a little bit of a powdery depth. Besides the apparent blend of musk and violet, it is difficult to pinpoint and break down all the notes in there, rather generating more of an imagery. It smells exactly like a white bar of soap in a luxurious white marbled bathroom. The soap is not drenched in water or creating foam, but at its dry form, placed on a white soap dish carved with gorgeous vintage-styled decorations. It is when you put your nose close to a dry bar of soap, and you are able to smell the clean soapy and muskiness, rounded by what feels almost like a slightly powdery texture.

ingeneuxo

-Inspired by Artemis, Greek goddess of the hunt, the wilderness, wild animals, the Moon, and chastity.
-Artemisia is light, dainty, powdery, and vintage-smelling.
-Brings to mind black-and-white silent films. (or think, Audrey Hepburn, Breakfast at Tiffany's aesthetics.)
-Not fbw. (-)

Cherihanei

Beautiful clean feminine scent ! Nothing synthetic here, elegant flowers, calming powdery bouquet. Penhaligon’s has never failed me so far, to the point where I - who usually hate white florals and overly feminine scents - found theirs to have a really magnificent story to tell.

AnEnglishRose

This is like a really beautiful luxurious soap. Like you just had a bath in the Ritz then went downstairs in an elegant dress for afternoon tea.

Clean, Fresh, Powdery and Feminine.

It's elegant and it's also a little bit sexy in a soft and clean way. Delicate violets, tea, vanilla, and musk.

It's perfectly balanced, the slight sexy sweetness balanced out by the tea, touch of oakmoss, musk and florals. The more I wear it, the more I notice the beauty of it.

Completely office appropriate, it's gentle and you just get delicate wisps of elegant gorgeousness.

The dry down is a more sensual skin scent with the tea, very soft vanilla and amber coming through.

This is a LOVE for me as a clean beautiful daytime scent. This really lifts my spirits.

Frangipanilove

Really not my favourite. Smells too artificial, the synthetic muscs are pushing through too much and covering the floral notes. Big disappointment compared to the description, really wanted to like this. Its a hard pass.

junnielee07

The opening is sweet and fresh that is perfect for springtime. However, the dry down is more woody and musky, although you can still smell the fruity sweet floral scent, which made it somehow also suitable for colder days like autumn. For me, it is not a comforting scent but you can definitely feel beautifully feminine with this one. Definitely considering buying a full-size bottle of this!

youngheart

I so wanted to like this, but it's not for me. It's very well blended and I wouldn't be able to distinguish any particular notes, except for musk, which is actually very prominent and almost overpowering. It's unusual and unique, but not in a good way. It's too cool and unfriendly, repulsive even. I hear a lot of people say this is a perfume for ice queens and princes, projecting a deference of some sorts. On my skin this is very extreme and it imposes such a distance that I find it offensive and revolting. I suppose from this point of view it's well made and it does the job, but I simply don't want that and don't feel comfortable wearing it. It smells VIP and expensive, but it does so in such an obvious way, that I find it obnoxious.

Austrian_in_Denmark

So romantic. A whiff from a bygone world, when girls from wealthy families stayed mostly indoors and learned to speak French, do needlework, and play the piano. I once knew a woman who had grown up like this before World War II started, completely shielded from (and unprepared for) real life.

I am happy that many women have the option to go out into the world these days. But it is beautiful to sniff at Artemisia and dream of being a girl in a pretty white dress, sitting in a room where powders and hair brushes are nicely laid out on a vanity, expecting the whole world to be one big, pretty, lovely smelling room.

Surprisingly I cannot detect the violet in Artemisia - even though it usually is strong on me. I get musk and a juicy nectarine and a sweetness that reminds me of glucose tablets. Very, very delicious. Flowers? A lot, but I cannot tell you, which. Same with wood. Artemisia is so deftly blended, that I cannot analyse it further.
Very longlasting, but with only moderate sillage.

Cadeaux

So-so. I thought that the initial spray was deep and sweet. I could definitely smell the amber and powder, but somehow there is something quite...plastic about it. Synthetic, musky, medicinal.

Vibe: Steampunk laboratory, everything moving like clockwork, automated yet magical
The look: You are to meet the engineer today. You're in a beige top with tan trousers. Docs. Your trousers are cuffed.
Form: 100mL tester blind buy

LaChinoiserie

An absolutely lovely perfume!

Proof that reading the notes beforehand doesn't give you the full picture. I normally stay far away from green notes and especially despise green apple. But it's not like that! I mostly get iris and it is powdery, soft, creamy, musky and gorgeous.

I was doubting between this one and Iris Poudre (Frederic Malle), which is stronger and aldehydic while Artemisia is fresher, more innocent.

The SA told me she loves layering this with Genetic Bliss (27 87) and I think that's a lovely combination!

NoelleNice

A favourite of mine among the Penhaligon’s fragrances. This is a soft, creamy, woody and warm floral musk. It is beautifully blended and smells great from application to dry down. I don’t get any hints from the green notes or apple but what I do get is prominent musk, subtle sandalwood, really nice interpretation of violets, light vanilla, and the teeniest breakthrough hint of oak moss (oak moss isn’t a note I love, it sometimes assails my nostrils, but here it plays an inoffensive supporting role). I can not individually smell the peach, even though I quite like peachy fragrances. I feel like it’s there though, adding some juicy sweetness that’s just out of reach. While this is suggested as a powdery fragrance, I don’t think it’s overly powdery. Not like some of its counterparts, but there is a subtle powdered cosmetic undertone. Overall a really gorgeous, snuggly and feminine scent - lovely in Autumn (when I’m now wearing it in the Southern Hemisphere). It smells great wafting off a light scarf. Love.

This perfume feels like it has every kind of notes combined. Not too fruity, not too green, not too floral but definitely all of those. Well balanced, very soft, delicate skin scent. Somehow it’s highly complicated and simple at the same time. It’s simple but not in a boring way. This reminds me of an elegant, high class, beautiful but not too dazzling woman. Perfect for everyday scent, definitely not an evening scent.

meroo

A very light nice smelling fancy nail polish. I've been wearing this from a sample for two days now and it's a very weak projection. Almost immediately limited to the skin. Longevity isn't great either. For the price, It's a no buy.

missaoki

I bought the Penhaligon samples and fell in love with this fragrance it smelt amazing! Received a full bottle as a gift on my birthday. The smell is very different, I try to wear it a couple of times and I swear it smells like a Bygon aerosol (for those who don't know, it's an insect spray). I try to layer it with other perfume and it doesn't work. This is such as waste as I still have about 80% left and it's been 2 years.

Kots_Tanya

It’s soft powdery very light, skin scent. It’s barely there. Definitely a bit vintagy.

Manuscoronum

The smell of adventure, the smell of death, passion, love and magick.

I wore this fresh out of the store in Edinburgh and ended up in a cemetary where I watched a man die and gave him CPR until the ambulance came.

This scent will always reminds me of that!

This smells like clean air with whipped cream and hints of sandalwood. Artemisia is balanced and beautiful, slightly like sweet spit and sweaty thighs.

Artemisia is sexy and it removes articles of clothing.

At first sniff I found Lily of The Valley right away. Major notes of vanilla and aldehydes creates a whipped cream smell.

Lovely fragrance, a must try!

zhiang0113

This opens with a slightly dry, but fruity violet note, accentuated by the nectarine. It gradually develops into a sweet musky vanilla blended with sandalwood.

I think this scent is rather pleasant and soothing albeit somewhat synthetic, but it's a pity that the projection isn't that great...

park13

괜찮은데 저한테는 너무 느끼했어요

silvereye

Smells Woody, extremely musky on first spray, very astringent. Did not like this at all.

lalludo

From a sample:

Opening: strong musk and violet with a slightly synthetic vanilla hint; I cannot detect any green or fruity notes.
Middle: musk
Drydown: powdery musk; I cannot smell any sandalwood or amber, unfortunately.
On me, projection is soft and longevity is weak (2-3 hours).

This scent is very far from what I like because of the predominat musky note. However, it might be suitable to whoever is looking for a very subtle, intimate and clean fragrance.

Beth

This is nice. Very girlish and subtle; simple, yet inoffensive and innocent. It has that same snuggly innocent vibe that Noa by Cacharel has, without smelling the same.

The best way I can describe it is as a cross between fabric softener and a classic makeup powder, but all in the best way possible.

Inlandselkie

This fragrance is so soft and baby-like to me... it’s beyond innocent and girlish in a way that brings to mind China dolls and lace gloves rather than pigtails and lollipops.
There’s something creamy in its scent, I’m missing any of the green sharpness to complicate it... its a huge departure from my regular perfumes, but it’s a pleasant and soft scent.

breatheme

Tested it, very very light sillage, sweet light baby powdery scent. Nice, but for me it's not worth paying quite a lot of $$ for.

toshiba

9:20 - Smells like...rubbing alcohol? Acetone? Even after letting it sit and air out a bit. Not even saying it's a bad thing, but it is odd. I'm wondering if I just am reading the nectarine note as very sharp.

1 - Old lady and dog shampoo.

Never got anything oriental out of this. Nor floral. Mostly just musk with a bit of vanilla and fruit. The opening was interesting, which I'm into but after the first 45 minutes or so, it was boring and vaguely unpleasant.

osy2017

This perfume is lovely. To me is a late spring/ early summer day in a bottle. Soft, fresh, and absolutely amazing. My first Penhaligon's and is not disappointing. Classic, lady like, non offensive perfume. Looking forward to try more from this brand.

Bubbles1964

Soft and powdery, perfectly nice with light sillage. Violets and vanilla, musk and amber. Office safe. I like it and would be happy to receive it as a gift, but it's hard to pull the trigger when I have so many others on my wish list.

Konga5000

Who is the chower-head that said this smells like Donna Karan's Cashmire Missed ? Thank God it does not. I absolutely hate her fragrances. Plus she seems like a nasty prick in real life as well!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Anyhoo:
WHAT THIS SMELLS LIKE:
You're at a high high end salon in NYC or Los Angeles. Beautiful women abound getting their hair and nails done and probably dropping like $300.00 or $400.00 of their rich husbands money on the afternoon of indulgence .
So weirdly, this smells like freshly washed beautiful lady hair being hot blow dried (!) and a chemically nail polish scent (!) all at the same time.
Strangely comforting in a twisted "niche" way.
DO NOT BLIND BUY , that is for sure. LOL.

tsyganovaelena1981

Artemisia ... This perfume I have associated with Marian Maudsley, the main character of the movie "The go-between" 2015. Who hasn't seen-very lovely film, advise!
Warm, cozy, soft powdery scent, as Kitty. But it is passion that makes man wish woman dressed in this perfume. Musk and Amber-cocktail of desires, very sensual and passionate. The scent is very stable, but encloses a gentle cloud as a scarf around the neck. I adore this perfume, one of my favourites

Mooniq

On me a soft, powdery, clean and flowery scent. Very alike DKNY Cashmere Mist - A very nice and safe every-day-scent. Maybe not for a teenager, bur sure for a mature woman.

På mig en mjuk, pudrig, ren och blommig doft. Väldigt lik DKNY Cashmere Misgt - en trevlig och säker varje-dag-doft. Kanske inte tilltalar tonåringen, men tilltalar nog många kvinnor mitt i livet.

geanina_gandac

Artemisia opens with sweet green notes mixed with fruits. It is a sweet fruity odour, not sour or pungent. It has a nice opening.
After a while, I feel lily of the valley and jasmine in a green armour. Not a loud floral perfume. A skin fragrance, sweet and pleasant.
The dry-down is powdery and woody and is all about musk.
Artemisia is a nice fragrance. It has good longevity and intimate sillage. This is a discreet scent, good for a quiet day when you want something to make you feel comfortable.
Give it a try if you like florals with pleasant smell and a good vibe.

adice

Soft, clean, powdery, floral vanilla musk. A scent to pair with a cozy short sleeved cream colored cashmere sweater, pearl earrings, and a retro matte red lipstick. Super inoffensive great for daytime or office wear. Reminds me of others in the same genre but is closest in my collection I think to Royal Muska but also similar to others I've tried like Serge Lutens Clair de Musc and SJP Lovely. I always think these types of perfumes are a "hug from mom" or "good girl" scents.

littledragon

This makes me feel like I'm very clean, wearing a clean, completely white, comfortable suit, with white shoes, sitting on a yacht, relaxing, and enjoying the evening breeze that brings with it a soft, sweet scent of white flowers from afar.

Flowerwood

Warm, soft musk supported by florals and a very discrete vanilla. Artemisia is very well balanced and I could not really identify the main floral as violet until I read the notes pyramid.
The dry down is very skin close, it feels like it is just amplifying and embellishing the best of your personal skin scent.
Artemisia has to be tested on skin. At least for me it is very different on paper, with a sharp edge not present when applied on skin. On paper much of the warm musky feel is also missing.

The fragrance is very silent but creates a warm and friendly atmosphere. Being embedded in the gentle warm atmosphere of Artemisia makes life a bit smoother and brighter. What I could wish for is some more sillage, at present it is a very private scent.

sarah_0508

I wanted to like it but, to me, there was nothing redeeming about this perfume. The reviewer who said this smelt like latex was spot on. I feel like I'm sat in the dentist's chair when I'm wearing this.

Whilst the latex smell did settle on the drydown it was still unmistakably there and ruined the whole composition for me.

MadLynne

I love Artemisia because I love Cashmere Mist from Donna Karan. Both fragrances are very similar almost identical, PA seams to be a bit sweeter but lovely anyway. Strange to see a modern designer fragrance in this Victorian packaging.

circlecrew

Gives me a massive headache. DKNY Cashmere Mist EDP smells very similar, but much better, and much less $. Make sure you get the EDP

MeThePerson

Woah, definitely get the reference to burnt rubber some people are mentioning! I think this is more due a sourness, especially in the opening which was incredibly bitter. I put this down to the green apple/violet combination (possibly affected by the oak moss in some small part?). Underneath, the powder and soft vanilla is clearly the slow starter that begins to overtake and lead from the front. With my 'oriental friendly' skin I get the drydown as a baking apple cooked in milk with brown sugar and vanilla pods melted in the centre made occasionally by my grandmother at the harvesting of their apple tree bounty. Mouthwatering and crisp but still velvety and subtle. So far this is a contender for my summer go to. Not heavy enough to be overly cloying and oddly refreshing, almost cooling?
Update with longevity to come.

Sonichka#2

I am ambivalent about this one...
I got it because I couldn't understand it.
This is like a unicorn to me.
I loved the softness and mystery of Artemisia.
Strangely it ends up smelling a little too loud on me!
I smell creamy vanilla and lots of musk.
In fact, it smells like caramel on me.
I enjoy the light herbal top notes more, but it always ends up too powdery and gourmand for my taste.
I kind of like it anyway!

I have a roll-on almost unused for swap if anyone is interested. : )

circlecrew

I really wanted to love this--not to be. I sit here nursing a headache after 2 small spritzs from the sample I received. I can see how there are so many who find it similar to DK Cashmere Mist, but on me there is a thick underlying smell of burnt rubber! Yuck! This perfume has smelled the same for 2 hrs. No change of notes whatsoever. I will stick with the DK Cashmere Mist. A much more beautiful, elegant scent for the $. I highly recommend spending $5 on a sample of this. SO happy I didnt spend the money--and this is not cheap--on a blind buy!

Soofiya

I have already reviewed this, months ago,but I have a habit to go through my samples after a while.now that it's spring and I'm looking for a soft, clean, musky scent I remembered artemisia and thought it may be the one I'm looking for
Violets are not usually my thing, they usually give me an impression of scented earasers I used to use as a schoolgirl and no exception here.but in the best way possible.vanilla, clean musk, some fruity notes and light white florals(there's more jasmine to my nose than lily of the valley)and sandalwood blend with violet to create a soft, clean and lovely scent.musky vanilla becomes stronger in drydown and makes me like it less
Still my emotions towards it are the same.nice, lovely but not for me.but I can see that I'd enjoy it on others
Hubby says that he can smell something rubbery in it.it seems that he doesn't like it on me either
Still I'd love to try DN cashmere mist
❤❤❤

curdie

This is beautiful! Oh so soft, delicate, creamy and dreamy. The review by Hippo Princess is so perfect! It does total justice to this darling perfume. So evocative of just that - dreaming of being a princess. Perfect!

abra_

Bought a sample. It opens with violet and powder - dries down to violet soap. Old-fashioned. Not my type.

honeybaby

My husband wore this for a year! We got it for him while on vacation in Miami. We both loved it! Only recently found out that it is "for women." I don't think he was embarrassed by that or anything (I wear Cartier Declaration, Hermes Voyage and have worn Vetiver by Guerlain and he loves these "men's" fragrances on me) -- but I don't think he will wear it again. Maybe I will!? There is something so warm and nutty about it. I really like it.

Fragrance Review For Artemisia

Artemisia!

This fragrance seduced me with it's greenness which I mistook for actual artemisia. There is no artemisia note but they can fool anyone into thinking it's on here. The green notes in the first spritz are shrubs and sage bush, medicinal plants that smell just like walking into an herbal shop with that unmistakable green medicinal plant smell. Lovely. A summer time scent, it features sweet edible fruit including nectarine and green apple. They are both detectable and quite sweet, not at all like fruit shampoo but definitely like fruit out in the open air, sweet and projecting their scent to any nearby nose.

The floral notes in this fragrance are ravishing. Only three: jasmine, violet and lily of the valley. The lily of the valley, green and white floral notes combined, are at the forefront. This is a pastoral scent, like being in nature, in the forest with only the natural scents of flowers and woods. The violet is quite nice and I wish it was a bit stronger. It turns powdery as does the jasmine. Sweet powdery florals. There is a little bit of tea but it's part of that green note arrangement. The tea is not as noticeable as the flowers. To me this is earthy, aromatic, green and floral. It's also fresh and sweet.

The dry down is a musk which can be both spicy and musky. It had a strange resemblance to perfumes like Victoria Secret Heavenly Angels (floral musk) and Bath & Body Works Moonlight Path (floral musk) but it has much more going on because it is more full bodied and rich. Penhaligon would never really smell like either B&B Works or VS but it's a bit of the same type of musk dry down. The amber is absolutely gorgeous, resinous and warm, melted like actual amber from a tree. A woody note emerges and it's a sandalwood. There is also moss of oak and the whole thing feels like losing oneself in woods and getting your hair and limbs entangled in woods and moss and artemisia shrubs.

When I was little I remember the few shrubs and plants that grew wildly in cemented neighborhoods and parks, smelled like this scent. I don't know if it was artemisia at the time but it was. It's sharp, pungent, and it lasts and lasts and lasts. The scent is on you all day. I remember I had to take a shower to get ride of that artemisia smell. This is the more beautiful and perfumy verison of what I experienced as a child. I always wanted to smell it again and now I have.

Stunning and suitable to summer and spring. However as it dries down, it's warm and spicy-musky and amber, so it's also very lovely as a winter perfume. This is an all season scent: winter, autumn spring and summer. It's like they put all the seasons into one fragrance. Fruit for summer, florals for spring, and artemisia/tea/oak moss, sandalwood, musk and amber for winter and fall. You can wear this any time anywhere. Don't over spray as it's quite potent. A little at a time and it turns into a pretty powder.

Beautiful!

racka64

Soft, cuddly, mildly sweet, very feminine imho. You can never go overboard with it, it mainly stays close to the skin. If you want it to be noticeable to your surroundings, than you have to use it liberally, in which case it becomes a compliment magnet from either male or female acquaintances. All season gem :)

Soofiya

I can only detect a very soft, powdery musk, delicately sweet violet and smooth, not very sweet or too warm vanilla and a hint of fruity smell, maybe nectarin but not a juicy one..I love all the notes mentioned here, which I don't detect.tea, green apple, other florals but no problem..I really looove this soft powdered scent..it''s very delicate, fragile and amazingly clean..actually this is the cleanest scent I've ever smelt,I don't know why I find it this much clean,it reminds me something very familiar which I'm not able to recall now..maybe smell of a body lotion or a body powder or a cleaning product or something like this..it's summery, fresh, girly and lovely..I really do loooveee the initial phase, there are not dramatic changes in notes,I just feel the overall scent gets a bit warm and a dominant sandalwood sits on the front seat, this little change makes it less pretty to my nose,I just wished that cool clean musky violet and fruity icecreamy vanilla lasted forever..however I don't dislike the drydown
longevity is moderate on my skin and sillage is almost soft.I'm thinking hardly to remember what was that familiar smell, identical to opening part
❤️❤️❤️

This fragrance was one that I often smelt on paper and could never understand as to why it was so popular. I could not smell ANYTHING.
Gradually I familiarized myself with the scent. Someone had remarked previously that it is best to think of a strawberry dusted in icing sugar. Its now a fragrance I enjoy wearing for personal preference. It definitely comes across as feminine. I love the soft, un-offending musk of the scent.
Everything within this scent is very soft. It smells great on a nice summers day. I once however smelt it in the hot Indian weather and did not enjoy the scent at all. In hot weather the notes smell to sweet. This is a subtle scent and is not well suited blasting out.

MissGabrielleO

This is not a review so much as an observation. I had wanted this for a long time and finally ordered a gift set of Penhaligon's miniatures which included Artemesia. Being a fan of the Italian renaissance painter Artemesia Gentileschi, I thought that this could be my perfect signature perfume.

It is not a bad perfume, however it smells EXACTLY like the apartment and person of a woman named Selma who lived in our vacation condo building in Atlantic City in the late 80s/early 90s Selma was probably in her 70s, wore spangly sweaters, smoked, had curled and set dyed hair, and always wore lots of gold jewellery. She was kind of a more refined Grandma Yetta!

This is a lovely perfume, but I cannot actually wear it without being instantly transported there and it is so vivid that I can almost taste the little foil wrapped fruit candies she had in bowls on the table. I am now trying to figure out what she could have been wearing - I wonder if, given the notes, she doused herself in Shalimar? Either way, once I realized the connection, I've had fun spritzing this on at home on a weekend and being taken back 25 years to old New Jersey!

paneradfisk

A soft, powdery, slightly sweet and delicate scent, inoffensive yet not boring at all. Pale and translucent yet memorable, cozy and comforting. The violets are well desguised, and marry very well with the rest of the notes. Don't judge it from the nozzle or the first spray, the drydown is the magic. A lower priced alternative is the perfume oil Madam X by Alkemia, which has more violets, but the same soft powder and sweetness.

Victoria88

This did not agree with me. I would describe this fragrance as smothering, muggy and warm. There's something about it that makes me feel carsick, nauseous. All I can smell is the vanilla, musk, amber, and sandalwood. It reminds me of Obsession by Calvin Klein.

StarfireK

Sweet, haunting and fragile. Not a fragrance for conquering towns or hearts. More of a shy, retiring violet. Pretty and mild.

UndergroundBlossom

On me this smells dry and almost like a faint trail of second hand smoke. I think Its the violet. Like many other reviewers have said, its very tame. Good for business meetings or a school PTA potluck. It is not daring nor is it a risk taker. I bought this fragrance in a set from Penhaligons, I do not think I will purchase it separately.

Hippo Princess

I fell in love with Artemisia at the Penhaligon boutique and the scent stayed on my mind (one might even say I was obsessed with it) until I finally got a bottle of my own weeks later.

This fragrance is simply dreamy. It is supremely comforting, and something about it reminds me of some fond memory I can't quite place. This is the scent of how bunnies feel, or how cream-colored Chantilly lace looks.

The fragrance is soft, little more than a whisper. The opening is sugared nectarine or peach pie a la mode, buttery-crusted and warm from the oven. This gives way to notes of creamy vanilla and powdery violet. Artemisia feels drinkable, like gently-spiced milky tea served from bone china.

I wear this to bed when I need to dream of being a princess.

nikoleta1

Soft, nice, close to skin, safe pick.
Good for a bed time or hot weather.

Mellyhelly

I'm happy I'm not alone together with nail polish remover!
I tested this one yesterday. I like these bottles and Penhaligon's usually have that distinct old times aristocratic style, but bottles are not the most important thing. As soon as it hit the paper it reaked of nail polish or nail polish remover, not the aggressive acetone type rather the one flavoured with synthetic almond. I expected to see almond, at least, if not Ethyl Acetate ;-P
On my skin it gave out the same first impression then in a few minutes it mellowed down to an almondy, creamy, musky...nothingness. Not bad, apart from scary initial burst, but very faint and close to the skin.

noshant

Oh dear. On my skin, it smells like nail polish remover to begin with. The alcoholic and acetone-like bitterness slowly dies down a bit over time, but it lingers alongside the violet, vanilla and musk, resulting in a powdery, bittersweet drydown. The remover smell finally disappears after about an hour and a half, but that 90 minute period of smelling like fragranced nail polish remover just isn't worth it.
I was originally very excited to test this out, as the notes appealed to me as did the name. Unfortunately it just doesn't work on my skin.

TJthe4th

I agree with those who say that it smells just like Cashmre Mist. The big difference is that CM smells terrible on my skin, and this is truly delightful. A little powdery, a little sweet floral musk. You can teach Sunday school in this and wear it with your cashmere and pearls.

RubyBirdy

Soft and bright floral musk with the slightest edge of violet and a creamy vanilla. Exquisitely refined, with the downside that it is a bit boring. Like all Penhaligon's fragrances for women, this is extremely understated and appropriate for the office. Every woman should probably have one of these demure, understated fragrances in her wardrobe, because there's always an occasion for a gentle and unchallenging floral. But just one. It's a "nice" scent, but there is only one way to be nice - there are many ways to be interesting, and Artemisia unfortunately has none of them. I like my sample but I would not spend $60 on this, let alone over $100.

My criticisms are the same as for every perfume by this house: it's so quiet that it is essentially mute, and it wears so close to the skin that I ought to start charging it rent. When you get so little projection that you forget you're wearing the fragrance even when it's slathered all over your neck, you have to start to wonder why you're paying such a high price for the product. Penhaligon's can surely afford not to skimp on the raw materials...

With regard to Artemisia Gentileschi, this Judith did not behead Holofernes. She did his laundry.

jadetrail51

I wear this often without too much thought as it is safe and appropriate to wear anytime. The Vanilla is warm and comfortable without being too sweet; The Tea makes it fresh and clean, and somewhat proper, and the Musk is subtle making it innocently sexy. Both my spouse and kids love this one on me.

magda14012

Artemisia is one of those delicate soothing scents I use at night. I love its calming effect it has on me. Its subtlety, powdery whispers, softness. It is a perfume which allows you to forget about you hectic day, unwind and relax. Enter Artemisia spa!

sjam3295

Artemisia is a scent that I tried a long time ago, when I was just entering the world of fragrance; I dismissed it as nice but nothing special.

Recently, I tried it again, and discovered a subtle beauty in it I had previously missed. This is a lovely musky, herby, faintly floral scent. To my nose, it's more like an aromatic fougere than an oriental. I can definitely smell the tea, the oak-moss and the apple as well as the musk and florals. It makes for a scent that is somehow really fresh and comforting at the same time. I think it's growing into a love.

LeonieB

I like to think of myself as a bit of a "nose" but on an off day, I reach for something powdery, and Artemisia is always the one. Got a lovely selection of niche samples lately which included Amouage Lyric which struck me as a rosed-up Artemisia. Used to have a bit of a snooty problem with Penhaligon's, don't know why, they have some great and unique scents.

StellaDiverFlynn

The opening of Penhaligon's Artemisia on me seems to have a strong presence of alcohol, but it unfolds beautifully once calmed down. The gently spiced violet peeks through during the first hour. The fragrance then settles down into a velvety vanilla and musk with a rounded woody undertone, which shares some similarities with the red bean paste effect in Kenzo Madly, but warmer, smoother and more approachable.

The sillage is moderate to soft and the longevity is around 8 hours. Artemisia is quite abstract in nature. It feels like applying a nourishing cream on the skin, clean and comforting, yet so different from the conventional 'clean' 'fresh' type of fragrances. I'd definitely recommend it as a versatile yet unusual skin scent.

Paintedlily

Artemisia is powdery, lightly floral, woody and clean. All qualities feel like they have a warmth to them as well. It teeters between natural and man-made (the word "synthetic" suggests a sharpness and this doesn't have that, it's very soft).

This gives me two distinct impressions:
1. Going for a nature walk on a warm, yet slightly humid Spring day.
2. A woman that has recently stepped out of the shower, applied body powder and is now styling her hair.
It could read either way to me, although I'd say it leans a little more to 2 because of the quality that reads "clean" (musk).

Sillage is soft, at less than arms length (this was applied from a dauber and not a spray) and longevity is about 4-6 hours on dry skin in a dry climate. Good for Spring or Fall daytime wear.

Very pretty fragrance with a soft spoken beauty. Will certainly be appreciated by admirers of subtlety.

Tarin

I was looking for something ghostly and ethereal if that makes sense, which is why I tried this because it was recommended to me and even has been referred to as a haunting fragrance. It was nearly perfect, it smelt to me like being in a graveyard overgrown with moss and white flowers, it even has some smokiness about it but is still very feminine, I nearly went back and purchased a whole bottle of it but something just wasn't quite right to me, it reminded me of something that I didn't like but couldn't quite put my finger on, maybe the fragrance Gingham by Innoxa that I can't stand, which is a green, baby powder type perfume, or the muskiness in the dry down was just too sickly and overpowering, it's a shame because I thought I had found the perfect scent I was looking for but I guess not.

racb

Love this - soft, fresh, floral but not sweet. It has a musky undertone which gives it a bit of gravitas.
It lasted a long time on my skin and settled down to a warm powdery, musky pleasantness.

Very nice.

fire2heart

This just arrived in the mail. Another blind buy.... I really need to stop doing that with scents that are at this price point. But, I found a decent price and took the plunge.

It is a very delicate smelling scent. It starts out smelling a bit musky and I can detect nectarines in it. There is a sharp note in it and I don't know if it's the green notes, the tea note or the lily of the valley. I can't smell it when my nose is up close but I can in the air around me. It then turns a bit soapy and it is powdery when I put my nose up to my skin. As I type this out, it has now turned to a skin scent of soapy powder and musk.

I'll have to revisit this when it gets warmer outside. I bought this for the summer months and it is cold and stormy outside at the moment.

So far, it's ok.

feezee10

i love this smell when it is spray on the paper, soft and sexy scent.

on my skin, after few minutes it goes to powdery scent. i wish i can get the same smell as on the paper :(

nevertheless it is long lasting fragrance

JuniperMimi

Very feminine. There's definitely a 'clean laundry' smell at the beginning. It's soft and powdery with some violet and there's something slightly spicy in there but it's not bold enough to work out what it is.

Ruffienne

This is a sweet, mild, elegant musk on my skin.

Expressively feminine yet tastefully restrained, this is just a tiny bit too generic for my taste. I don't think I'll be buying a FB, but I can see why others would. :-)

It grows on you though - be sure to give it a few minutes (or even a few wearings) to be sure you understand it completely. The opening, which is brisk and a little bit unbalanced, is not representative of the scent as a whole.

akhala

This fragrance is very elegant. I associate it with something a woman making a name into "a mens' world" would wear. And after all it was made in honor of Artemisia Gentileschi, the controversial and celebrated painter of the Renaissance. Long neglected as a serious artist, her work was often attributed to other male artists. Reclaimed as a feminist icon in recent years, she is now rightly seen as a serious and groundbreaking artist. She also spent some time in England at the court of King Charles I. Her most famous work is the chiaroscuro masterpiece “Judith Beheading Holfernes.”

It has nothing to do with the ancient queen Artemisia, the plant nor the deity Artemis like many think and are left disappointed.

For me the scent starts of with nectarines, apples and green foliage. After some time the flowers and vanilla kick-in. Beautiful flowers and wrapped up in sunshine and butterflies. The end is warm, powdery and earthy - mainly musk and oak moss with the rest of ingredients lingering somewhere there as to remind of themselves.

I wouldn't describe the scent as fresh at all. On me it has a lot of presence and warmth and this is making it more suitable for the fall/winter season, or perhaps a cold summer evening.

And the bottle just got me - very beautiful! Artemisia is truly unique but yet comfortable scent!

Fioletowy

This is a beautiful floral scent that's not too sweet even with the lovely violety powdery dry down. It feels very grand and old fashioned to me but I like that so no complaints.
However, on me it's so strong and lasts forever, so much so that for the first couple of hours the smell is so powerful, it's like being hit over the head with a copper bottomed saucepan. Subtle it is not, not on me. So I have to be careful where I wear it. At home on my own, fine. In a lift, no.

becuille

This is a pretty scent for women who don't do cutesy. It's so soft and giggly, but never gets sweet, sickly or overtly fruity like so many other frags that aim for "pretty" tend to. It's like a gentle tickle.

Penhaligons really have blending down pat (except for Bluebell). It's nigh on impossible to pick out distinct notes in most of their fragrances and this one is no different. You get a hint of the violet throughout, but it only serves to soften the scent, it never overwhelms. I'm very impressed with this house's use of violet in both this and Ellenisia. They seem to really understand where violet is at its most useful within a fragrance.

This is predominately powdery and musky. It's very soft, with minimal sillage. About an hour in, I thought it was veering towards soapy, which is something I really dislike, but it snapped out of it and stayed flirty and pretty - but in a very elegant way.

Pared down, grown up pretty. I love it.

starlakid

I was delighted this morning to receive my full bottle of Artemisia. As a newcomer to the world of fragrance appreciation I shall leave describing it to someone with more experience. What I will share is that it makes me feel as though I have walked out of an E.M. Forster novel or that I'm Julia from Brideshead Revisited. I couldn't help but put on my favourite dress today and the heels I wouldn't ordinarily wear.

missgeschick

This is an intimate scent. The first spray is kind of musty, it evolves into a nice powdery vanilla-musk with a hint of violet and peach later. Soft, warm, close to skin, feminine... but no sweetness there for me.
I guess I have to try this several times yet to decide if buy it or not.

etude83

(And Penhaligon's is one of the dwindlingly few lines that SA's at the high end department stores won't give you bitch-face for lurking around the testers for an exorbitant length of time. *cough* GUERLAIN *cough* What is WITH that?)

etude83

I agree that there is a sweet, soapy inoffensiveness to this one that is actually surprisingly charming. There is baby powder -- but not a la "Love's Baby Soft." In other words, the sweet talcum aura it invokes is complemented by some depth and even a bit of dissonance. (I feel the same way about the "baby powder" of KM's Loukhoum.) I don't really get the fruit notes listed, but I do get the violet and vanilla. And I swear I smell some sweet myrrh in this -- to the point that I'm reminded of Profumum's Vanitas if somebody swapped in stevia for the sugar.

If you love sweet orientals but can't quite stomach gourmands, this may be right up your alley.

dkny27

Very soft, very innocent, demure, sweet... Almost like a soft green, lightly sweetened baby powder.
This is a very pretty scent, dare I say
"school-girl-esque"?
I get a mild soapy violet/vanilla/peach combo with the drydown of a very calm woody tea.. Ever so vague if you don't know what to look for....
Very sad that the longevity on me was only about an hour....

MirageMirage

GORGEOUS!...and addictive ;)

alchemist1976stephanie

Very girly musk. Opens with a floral/vanilla blend that kind of reminds me of the smell of bananas. The musk is also present right from the beginning and lingers in a billowy haze of sweetness. I wish I got more of the lily of the valley and violet than I get of the fruity notes. Longevity is good- about 6 hours. Stays close to the body. Love the bottle too!

iamaround

To me this is such a cozy sandalwood musk vanilla scent.. these are the notes I get the most. Artemisia is so easy to wear, it's a cozy comfort skin-close scent, and yet very lady like and sensual.

CeciliaKu

Penhaligon's Artemisia is a scent that you could wear all year round. It is soft, feminine and clean. As inoffensive as it may appear to be, that's not to say that you won't stand out in a crowd.

hsd1

Reminds me so much of Donna Karen Cashmere Mist. After all these years, I remember this smell.

Yesterday I loved it, however today it is being bumped down a notch to 'like', as I sadly suspect this might be what is giving me a headache:( I remember when DK first came out, initially I also loved it's soft coziness, but that had the same effect, so I gave it away.

I have had this on for 12 hours and it is still going strong on my skin, but wish it would wear off since I have a headache. It is soft, sweet and powdery, with vanilla and a bit of musk on me. Soft, like something a ballerina might wear in the winter.

Donna Anna

This is a beautiful, feminine and extremely gentle fragrance. It literally caresses your skin. It is also sweet and the scent of vanilla is very pronounced. When I tested this scent for the first time in the beginning the opening truly shocked me. It is a messy hodge podge really! Some sharp fruity smells mixed with something almond like and very intense smell of alcohol. It is pungent and not very attractive. But luckily it quiets down immediately and morphs into this beautiful luxurious vanilla scent. Something almond-like lingers on which is also nice and warm and comforting. I also can smell the violet after the dry-down. And soon the musk also kicks in and it is all comfort and coziness and tranquility after that.

The problem? Not much development takes place after that point. And the scent is just so mellow and subdued since there is no contrast between the notes. Now the first time that I tried it I just fell in love with it. I kept sniffing it and drew comfort from it. It was absolutely great. So I bought a full bottle. And I sprayed it again the next day... and it was nice, and the third day... well, I was already bored with it and couldn't even notice it much and when I even noticed it I wasn't drawing the same kind of pleasure from it as in the first day. Soon I was craving something really fresh and pungent!

You see? Such one dimensional fragrances are subject to the law of diminishing returns. Like eating a box of luxurious chocolate truffles. The first one is heaven in a bite. The second one is just lovely, the third one kind of nice, but the fourth one is forced and the fifth will just turn your stomach.

That is the same thing that happened to me with regards to Artemisia. It is a beautiful fragrance, but it is so sweet and mellow and unoffensive that very soon you will get really bored to death with it and crave for something sharp and strong, something pungent and something a little more daring.

Of course I understand that there is always room on every woman's dressing table for one or two such fragrances as Artemisia and I don't regret buying it and just like the chocolate truffles I will soon be craving some more of it for a day or two.

Artemisia in its own genre is truly a great fragrance. But I think I would go for something more contrasting and multidimensional if that were to be my only fragrance for a while or my signature fragrance.

The longevity is quite good, but sillage is really modest and it just hovers around your skin. Especially in the later stages people would think that you smell really good, but they might not notice that you are wearing a fragrance. I would not wear this in warmer months due to its creaminess and sweetness. It is great for fall and winter. I also think it is a great scent to wear at work since it is so pleasant and unoffensive, but on a night out or a dress-up occasion I would go for something more theatrical and daring than little sweet Artemisia. But at nighttime when you want to relax and cozy up in bed it is a wonderful scent to wear. It is very calming and surely will bring you sweet vanilla dreams.

Sorry this review is meant for Amaranthine!
This fragrance is not for everyone. I bought it a year ago, and have been in a confused cycle of love and hate ever since. I finally understood it. This is definitely a floral, a white one. A creamy sweet white bouquet of long standing flowers. To me it smells of very rich and intense white flowers that has been displayed in a vase for a week or so... and then extracted for perfume! Another point worth mentioning is that, on me at least, this perfume only works its magic in warm or sunny climates. On a cold or rainy day it smelled awful and disgusting! I don't know, I'm just sharing my experience. Try it and see for yourself!

Perfection. Artemisia has absolutely no faults or flaws. If Snow White has a scent, this is surely it.

Artemisia is breezy and warm, sweet and comforting, like a 73 degree Spring or Fall day; always flowing in perfect harmony. This is by no means an "innocent" or "naive", it is a Wise Humble Goodness. It is a breathe of fresh air, and a sharp Right turn away from all the fragrances with no faces. This radiates a beautiful smell all around you, and leaves memory scent trails where you have stood or sat. It is truly divine. Artemisia is not masked behind powder or musk, vanilla or amber, floral's or citrus.
Yes, there are similarities with Cashmere Mist, but that is very much clouded by strong musk and powder, while this keeps a perfect balance. I can not put the notes in proper place, but it is creamy, green, sweet and light, but lasting and silage is above par. It shows slight acidity, but stays neutral the whole way through. Initial spray is sparkly green with acidity, and the middle is more powder sweet, while the drydown is mixed perfectly, sweet light crisp yet a heavy silage.
All I can say is this is absolutely Enchanting...I really love it. It makes me very self assured, but also self aware...A Beauty this is.

For a fantasy angelic princess

Update: This gets even better with time. Have it on your skin throughout the night and wake up to an enchanting smell. Spray it on a coat and find that a week later a glorious smell is coming from your closet.

EmilyTheStrange

On me, this is violet, jasmine, vanilla and MUSK-MUSK-MUSK. And I love it :)

This is so very feminine - it has quite a gentle, soft quality about it but it's "there" enough to be noticed. From the notes listed, I thought this may be a bit too simple/safe for me...but I'm pleased to say it's not. I am blessed enough to live in a climate where it's sunny most of the time and I also have a large, beautiful garden out the back...I can easily picture wearing this perfume while sitting in the sun with a good book and a glass of white wine.

Artemisia is elegant, lady-like, understated and all things CLASS. The longer it's on my skin, the more it envelopes me in such a warm, comforting, loving, FLORAL way. This is just beautiful. Thank you to the amazingly kind and gorgeous member here who sent me this decant - will be buying a big bottle when it runs out ♥

wendy nicholls

this is a very feminine fragrance, and not to over powering just like new baby skin smells like, just nice. I will bebuying this again for shore it must be tried I think delish..

mutmiu

Artemisia and Cashmere Mist have the same main notes - lily of the valley, jasmine, sandalwood, vanilla, musk, and amber -, so it isn't surprising, that they are resembling to each other. Artemisia is softer, creamier, not as dry and synthetic-feeling as Cashmere Mist, but they share almost the same milky-vanillic, musky, cozy drydown. They are perfect comfort scents.

I think the name Artemisia refers to the ancient Greek virgin moon-goddess Artemis, and not to the actual plant. And indeed there's a lunar aspect of this pure, creamy, somewhat white fragrance.

Second correction: if I wear Artemisia rather dabbing than sprinkling, I don't detect the annoying salty-bitter oakmoss note after drydown, just the delicate creamy musk-vanilla-violet fragrance. Artemisia is not a candy sweet girlie-scent, nor a flashy diva-perfume, just completely feminine - a gentle, warm, comforting fragrance.

BelleBeryl

Today I am wearing Artemisia I have the 1.5 ml vial sample Eau d'Parfum It is a well rounded blend of powdery florals the middle notes of jasmine tea lily of the valley vanilla violets apple are very well blended and the base has a hint of oakmoss & amber amongst others. The Penhaligon's website see their info on notes. I like perfumes with oakmoss and amber in the basenotes this is one of them.
This is such a lovely beautiful fragrance I added it to my to buy list for this year. A lovely must have scent.

tsth

This is the epitome of a very feminine "girlie" scent. It is pink ballet slippers and pastel satin ribbons. I had to own this scent just because I do not have anything like this. My scents are so womanly and oriental heavies and I wanted one that was dainty, sweet and so very feminine. I agree w/the poster below who said a "princess" would wear this!

Redpula

Using a generous two dab from a sample at different areas of my arm, the initial scent on my skin, a light nail polish remover that is a bit strong on alcohol. It is like an Ambroxan or Molecule 01 but is more airy and piercing to my nose. A couple of minutes after, it changes, the piercing alcohol is gone, a very close to skin scent of softness and cleanliness, not much of a powder, but a lesser aggresive musk comes out and a very light baby oil scent that is so good (could be the mix of light oakmoss and sandalwood) but has to be sniffed deeper to be detected.

I just can't smell the fruits, florals, sweetness, creaminess and other notes. It is too light, nice but barely there. This is for women who isn't much into perfumes but would love to have something so good of a smell other than lotion.

tonix8

At first I didn't care much about this scent, it smells just like Cashmere mist. After a few minutes, however, this settles down into a creamy, milky aroma that just drove me crazy! excellent. just the comforting, cozy smell i've been looking for.

eludiastar

I fell in love with this perfume within seconds of smelling it in their shop. At first I was resistant to buying it as it's so expensive at £95 but I managed to buy some from their outlet in York for around £40.
As much as I adore this perfume, for the price the sillage is extremely poor. It fades from your skin so quickly, so to get any last you really need to spray it on your clothing. As a result of this I found that I was using excessive amounts each time & my bottle ran out very quickly.
I am very reluctant to buy any more of this perfume, which pains me as it is so beautiful. But thank you so much to the users of this website I will be checking out the recommended alternatives. Donna Karen's perfume seems to be a very reasonable price so fingers crossed I can find it in a department store to sample!

myjebo2012

I bought this in Berlin and was shocked after getting to the US that its twin sister is Donna Karen Cashmere Mist. The touch is just a tad lighter.

gomt

Oh my, how soft this one is! Creamy-powdery, warm and delicate. A subtle blend of musk, vanilla, violet and jasmine. Quite a romantic perfume.

The powderiness and soapiness reminds me of Salvatore Ferragamo's Signorina. They are different when it comes to notes, of course, but this softness somehow brings them together. Artemisia could be Signorina's older, more mature and elegant - but still very feminine - sister.

It stays very close to the skin, and not for a long time in my case - about 3 to 4 hours. I wish it would last longer.

missk

Penhaligon's Artemisia is a fragrance that I can only describe as soft, feminine and clean. I can see why so many women adore this fragrance, as it is full of charm and elegance.

I hesitate to classify this fragrance as soapy, so I'll stick with clean. The creamy vanilla accord stops it from becoming too predictable, and what a relief it is that this fragrance is more than just 'shower fresh'. It goes to show that clean doesn't always have to be plain and boring.

Penhaligon's Artemisia is a perfume that I feel extremely comfortable wearing, so I whole-heartedly recommend this fragrance to just about any woman, even those that shy away from anything too loud and obtrusive. As inoffensive as it may appear to be, that's not to say that you won't stand out in a crowd. While testing this fragrance, my boyfriend had many positive things to say about it, so I'd assume that men enjoy its scent.

I really love Penhaligon's classic approach and style. It is something to be admired, even if it is very British. They have a knack for florals, and compose them so beautifully that they suit almost any occasion. Penhaligon's Artemisia is a scent that you could wear all year round.

Other than having a dominant blend of crisp white musk and creamy vanilla, Penhaligon's Artemisia also has a soft, powdery violet note and a hint of sweet jasmine and sandalwood in the base. I see that some reviewers are complaining that the longevity is poor, well I'm just adding my two cents, but I found the lasting strength quite impressive, lasting well over six hours on my skin.

kxnaiades

It took me a while to write this review as I'm neither enchanted by this nor put off by it. I'm more nonchalant. From this lovely named bottle, I get a woody muskiness, no violets but a light whisp of white flowers and bergamot. It's well-composed, the notes that could have been jarring in other compositions, sit well together in this. It would have gotten a better mark from me if it lasted longer than the 2 plus hours I got from it. Perhaps it's just me, I hope others get to enjoy this far longer than I did, despite copious amounts sprayed all over skin and clothes. It's a dignified, class act. I just wish it lasted more than one scene.
I have a full bottle from 2 years ago that's sitting quietly with my other scents, I usually carry it with me on travels as it's an easy shape and size to pack, the outer box is quite sturdy and I've never had an issue with either breaks or spills with Penhaligon's on travels. Just a useful titbit.

Zephyrae13

Am I the only one wondering where the Artemesia aroma I love so well is?

beatrix75

o my husband told me thath i smell sooo delicious !!!and from him its something if he sad so but its really one of the most good frag what i have!

plannack77

It is a wonderful fragrance. Soft and delicious. However, it has no staying power no matter how much I spray on my body. A shame.

beatrix75

very soft very feminine and i feel the violet in this in the begining more than anything ,then the fresh and creamy jasmin, sandelwood, aple ,musk, vanilla and lilly of the valley !its a creamy delice its wonderful

rosecat

I love this perfume - it's soft, snuggly, cuddly, powdery and creamy. Its like wearing a soft cashmere cardigan and a pretty silk dress. It is very personal to me, i dont need anyone else to smell it on me, as it provides me comfort and feels truly "me". Its vanilla, mossy, amber, tea & white floral. Yes like cashmere mist but a bit more interesting.

lucifera

i have to agree with alexa27! the cashmere mist is indeed a smilair to this

fragoleconcrema

My parents bought me a small flacon of Artemisia during a recent trip to London.

Surprisingly this took quite a lot of trying out to get used to. Top notes are very vanilla-ish to - though I detect some of the fruity notes. But nevertheless, Artemisia is a special perfume all right. The dry down is exquisite, and another plus is that, on my skin, it's rather long-lasting actually.

tklicavoli

It's soft, feminine, and terribly sexy without being overt. It opens with an earthy tang of nectarine and green apple but it isn't fruity at all. It's more of fruit skin scent. It's not juicy, it's milky. Candied violet and creamy vanilla meet in the middle like old friends who dare to be lovers. It's a quiet romance that doesn't need to shout or be sugary sweet to be delicious. I find this refreshing in a world of over the top, gourmand, dessert like celebrity perfumes. There's also a slightly wet dark green element thanks to oak moss. Lastly, the dry down is a perfect powdery tonka bean dream. Artemesia is intoxicating and memorable. I feel like myself when I wear it.

Women who enjoy Guerlain and Dior fragrances will love this. Artemesia could easily be the older, more sophisticated sister of that tart, Miss Dior Cherie.

lara0905

Somehow this scent is very reminds me of Laura Biagiotti's Laura infusion with Bijan Nude but the creamy-milky-oily way.
The top notes fades away very fast, leaves the creamy-bit oily- sweet vanilla shakesmell with some sandalwood-close to skin-drydown.I feel the sultry feminity in this scent.

paradisolucky

I love this fragrance. It reminds of going to the countryside fair and sampling the candied violets. Very fresh lightly coated with a powdered sugar. It has a slightly creamy taste to it with a sweet and fresh and almost citrus tang to it. How I loved to walk around looking at all the booths with different homemade trinkets, quilts, and foods to sell while I wandered aimlessly and blissfully with a sweet and creamy fresh floral taste on my tongue and filling my nose.

9154mf

Soft feminine creamy and milky is how I describe this. It has an elegant understated feel and is not perfumey at all. Wear this if you want to smell fresh and clean without being citrusy. Silage and staying power not great but I love it anyway. Top notes lasted about 10 seconds, powdery violet and soft vanilla come out almost immediately.

websterj

This is a "special" perfume. I don't wear it every day but when I want to smell elegant. I limit myself as I don't want to develop an allergy to it as i have with some fragrances.

semj

I do like this. It has a creamy and powdery feel to it. There is something 'guerlainy' about it and I think it might be the oakmoss.
It has a warm and comforting feel. Unfortuneately its quite linear on my skin and anly lasts a few hours.

allexa27

Thia is Donna Karan`s Cashmere Mist twin .Try it and u will see

tessture

Fresh fruit and flowers softened by avelvety vanilla/oakmoss/musk base. There's an almost milky sense here, smooth and cool, but it dries down to a very basic soft musk on me, and loses all the nuance. Still, the dry down is also nice, if inoffensive. I won't be buying a full bottle, but I did like experiencing the sample.

Cereza

Oh my, it opened so lovely with burst of bubble gum sweetness from the peach&apple. I feel amazing violet with hints of tea and a tiny bit of jasmin, but for me the violet is dominant and, oh, boy I do love violet.
I feel L-O-V as well, which I'm usually not so happy about, because of it's power to enduce headache, but here it's very gentle, well blended with creamy and comforting vanilla+violet.

I find this to be a comfort scent, very beautiful and very cozy. I love it.

romanticflower

Artemisia is a wonderful blend of creamy almond and soft oakmoss.i do really love wear it when i wanna feel wraped by a sensual fragrance.i perceive is lovely and delicate synphony of clean and pure notes, nectarine plays with lilly, jasmine and violets in the meanwhile shy vanilla shares the sheet music with moss, amber and sandalwood creating a sophisticated composition.perfect both for girls and woman very atractive parfume for fall and winter

melia

On my skin, this is rather creamy than powdery. Don't get very much fruits. Vanilla and far away some moss and green notes. A rather comfortable smell though, kind of a skin scent too. Not very 'loud'. Reminds me of those winter days when your mind seems not be on earth at all, but constant somewhere in the clouds. At that point, it's the best to stay at home on the coutch watching movies, accompanied by Artemisia.

sherapop

Penhaligon ARTEMISIA is a lovely oriental floral, to be a bit more precise: lightly vanilla-dusted violet. The dominant violet comes through from the very beginning and persists through the drydown, which is a slightly sweet floral woody scent with a touch of vanilla. In fact, the development is so quick as to make this virtually a linear fragrance.

ARTEMISIA has good staying power and medium sillage, with a clean powdery aspect. I very much enjoyed wearing this fragrance on a relatively sunny summer day, so although I might have thought it better suited for cold weather, in fact, it has turned out to be an all-season beauty.

Sissi

I can smell the predominace of apple
and the faint smell of Vanilla those
two scents dominate the other notes
some people have an talent to seperate
the other notes easely i have i bit of an hard time with it I Can smell Eather
2 notes or 3 notes out of 12.
this is one of the Plain Jane scent
from my collection a bit dull.

uninco

It was so nice on the paper, that I just could not wait to try it on my skin... But on the skin it is so disappointing! It is nothing enjoyably. Too sharp and too old-fashioned.

mocha43

I got a sample from LuckyScent and loved it so I went to e-bay and was able to get a 3.4 oz bottle from an English e-bayer for 40 pounds which is $61. He got it to me in 10 days! He is all sold out currently. Oh, yes, the perfume is heavenly, the tea combines with the apple and jasmine and Idetect a note of fig even though it is not in it. From first spray through dry down and beyond, it is lovely.

geegee

I got a small bottle from ebay, oh boy is this a gem of a find for me.

As it progresses it just seems to get better & better & made me feel like i was a princess wearing the most expensive diamonds luxuriating in the wonderness of heaven.

Its romance with a capital 'R'. Gorgeous, luxurious & very femine without being girly.

A complete liquid goddess.

PricklyAndHot

I mostly feel the apple, musk and violet notes in this fragrance. It smells fresh, soft and light enough. But I think that this fragrance smells too simple. I don't mean the delicate simplicity, it just reminds me a typical fresh fragrance. Nothing special.

EnglishCountryGarden

Lovely, lovely lovely. Artemesia bursts out of the bottle in a haze of fuzzy pink peach, a hint of fresh cut grass and a cashmere soft musk, so seductive, it creeps up behind you and tousles you hair without you realising its there. Sometime after the initial excitement, the front line begins to step aside a little to allow the middle notes to take two steps forward, not to take center stage, you understand, but to complement the front liners, a beautiful rain soaked lily of the valley, nose dipped into the tea caddy, and drawn out again by a carefully dangled fresh baked vanilla cookie dipped in ice cream, again, all of this still dancing beautifully with a pink peach. As the base notes begin to shuffle forward, the whole thing has a very slight but unmistakable note of the finest ice cream parlour from my childhood, (Notarianni's), a vague residue of vanilla pipe tobacco, cappucino froth and delicious dollops of italian icecream with waver curls standing proudly. This is probably achieved by the delicious powdery musk, which is the glue which holds the whole delightful mix together, and the gentle earthy oakmoss. I dont get sandalwood at all...
I love this so much, I use the shower gel, the body cream and the talc too, layering to the max, or just a dusting of talc before I slip between the sheets at night. This is the stuff of heaven. Buy some, then blame me for your suffering bank balance.

MirabelleJee

Another perfume that makes me feel myself a young lady from the high society ) Mostly lily of the valley and some fruits. Like other Penhaligon's it's not annoying and smothering, but not too light. I love Penhaligon's perfumes for this balance.

lolita82

very soft and feminine fragrance. its reminds me alot of givenchy very irresistable.

HelloLovely27

I have fallen madly in love perfumes change on everyone but on my this is the most lovely soft violet and vanilla. It has a lovely freshness at the top but it is so lovely and soft it just caresses you! The amber and musk are lovely and warm. I am in love with this fragrance and this house!

The first time I tried this perfume on I told myself that I would see how it changed on my skin and how it held up then I would be back another day if I really loved it. Ten minutes later I had turned around and purchased it! I can not get enough of it!
During dinner hours later I kept getting soft whiffs of it coming up from my neck line!

So gorgeous!
