Aeternitas

I was prompted to look this up to see if some influencer raved over it because I just saw some bottles of this listed for $200+ and I am over here like WHAT?! lol. I bought this for no more than $16 on ebay back in the day (2008 - I'm the first to comments on Oro below). It was always dirt cheap, and there's still some for sale pretty cheap... just some crazy scalpers out there with those triple digits! Haha.

I still remember exactly how it smelled. I was iffy on it, then I loved it, then I quickly disliked it again.
Other reviewers are 100% correct about that apricot note... it tends to take over, smells borderline rotten, and ends up like some kind of spiced, fermented drink.
The snake cap is gimmicky as hell, ftr. That thing is cheap plastic, it's actually springy (have fun catching it when it drops), and it broke very easily. AND YEAH, that bottle is easy to knock over.
Cool concept, but highly impractical and tacky in person.

I had made a comment that I deleted years ago about it having a similarity to Organza Indecence + apricot. Some woman took me too literally and ranted about how it's nothing like Indecence, and I didn't want people thinking I meant it was a dupe or anything... but I still maintain that it is warm, spicy oriental like Indecence (which I DO own) with an odd fermented apricot addition, lol.
I'm glad to see others think it is *similar* as well.
Overall, it's warm and exotic, and a nod to the oddball concoctions that were being produced in the late 90's/early 2000's before the capri-sun fruity florals took over.

Just received Oro. Definitely not a love at first sniff! Experience has taught me not to judge a fragrance by the first or second trial. First impressions : A strong/ prominent black pepper note over something, vaguely familiar? Fruity? Powdery? Hopefully it will improve. We’ll see.

Bonis001

It's very sexy for any dates mostly for nights or special occasions. Very warm love it

Ronett

A cool, soft, steady and beautiful fragrance that resembles the original Roberto Cavalli

MsKayJae

I'm not really a fan of apricots in fragrances. I always thought that Daim Blonde would have been perfect if not for that note but here it adds a bit of depth so Oro doesn't come across as a boring fresh, slightly spicy uninteresting fragrance (the coriander helps too). The drydown is a bit powdery which makes it feel a bit more old fashioned but in saying so, it's not a heavy hitter like the Opiums etc of old - it's definitely a modern fragrance.

pearsonns

I am tempted to find this just for the bottle.

hadiyahadiyah

🙂 a ladylike floral, wood, and apricot combination. all blended to create something feminine, yet individualistic. the coriander and pepper give it a slight "edge". somewhat deep and sweet in a very "natural" way. for cool weather, suitable for any age. work appropriate if used in moderation. puts me in the mind of a Burberry scent.
tasteful and unique.

Love it!!! Oro is smooth and woody with just the right amount of apricot/apple, on my skin it's unisex leaning slightly masculine with the woods. I definitely recommend my fellow gentlemen and ladies give this beauty a sniff.

I have nothing to say but good things about Oro. I'm a newcomer to it, and therefore can't make a comparison to earlier formulations. I'm happy to say that Oro is a very pretty oriental with a flirty spicy accord that isn't heavy-handed. I love that the cinnamon note shines through on its own, or at least it does for me, and the longevity is much better than some of the newer scents I've recently purchased. I have a couple of Roberto Cavalli fragrances, and I find they are quality scents for a reasonable price. I'm really looking forward to wearing Oro during the fall and winter.

Swedelish

I used to think I got a lot of cinnamon and warm spices with woods from Oro. It also used to smell more modern to me, but that was 10 years ago. Now having come back to it I realize it's more fruits and florals than spices all throughout the life of the fragrance
It opens smelling like a copper penny. I get loads of apricot, which smells dusty and very vintage 90's to me. Every scent featuring apricot and vanilla together ends up smelling like a mix of old dusty makeup and expired chalk candies, and Oro isn't the exception. There's quite a bit of amber and woods in the drydown, but the fruits and florals always present makes for a strange, incohesive combination when it's all said and done. Not for me.

dorotaloveslifexoxo

I don't shy away from oriental, heavy hitters that are extra on the powdery side and smell a bit dated. In fact - I love them!
However, after managing to pick up a big bottle of this on UK ebay blindly, it actually disappointed me. I realised I like the 90s type of nostalgic fragrances but not the 80s and this screams hairspray and powder. It is not really wearable to me, I don't detect any "richness" in terms of spices or deep vanillas. This has some sort of cat pee note in it which is very reminiscent of older scents and it's strong in this, then it's powder all the way up your nose. Screechy.

I got this partially because there were some reviews stating it falls in the same category as Organza Indecence but unfortunately, not at all to my nose. This lacks the richness and that 90s "on the edge of gourmand" decadency of Organza Indecence. It is quite linear and not as opulent as Indecence. Also, unless you feel that powdery notes are sweet in themselves, nothing else adds to that sweetness I was looking for.

It's a miss from me.

Cavalli Oro is one of those perfume Rorschach blots, where what you smell says a lot about what you want, what you expect, and what you already like or dislike. I came to it because I’m a girl from the American South who was looking for an interesting magnolia scent that didn’t smell watery or insipid, and that’s what I get from Oro: a long-lived, properly wavy and lemony magnolia accord buttressed by a classical Oriental base, with an appropriately Souttern peach note in the mix, and a thread of slightly boozy vanilla. I find it charming and easy to wear in relatively warm weather, which coincides with spring and magnolia season, so it does exactly what I want it to do.

I don’t find Oro to be particularly spicy or regal; it’s not a heavy hitter like a lot of Oriental perfumes from other Italian fashion houses. It doesn’t feature the powerful Mediterranean orange and aromatic herbs that I associate with Italian classics from houses like Krizia, and it’s not as busy or as commanding as the classic Valentinos like the first, eponymous Parfum (a crazy Roman Empire-era fruit salad stuffed with all the treasures of the East) or (the very aptly named) Diva. The early Gucci perfumes also have similar, sunny, almost outdoorsy profile, suggestive of citrus groves and rosemary plants, fig trees and sage—gloriously evocative perfumes with a distinctive style that has carried over into the newer niche houses like Masque Milano, whose perfumes seem to come from a place closer to the earth or at least to the garden, rather than the dedicated floral plantation or especially the laboratory. Oro is softer than these, sweeter, and perhaps a tad more confected—but it is also lighthearted, a little flirty, easy to wear, conventionally pretty without being boring, and—particularly virtuous in these days of increasingly outrageous pricing—very inexpensive.

So if you have a serious yen to bring the ephemeral scent of magnolia (they sadly lose their aroma within seconds of being picked), Oro is a fantastic choice. It’s also just an easygoing warm weather Oriental for times when more powerful scents might be overwhelming, or when a more serious-minded perfume doesn’t suit your mood or your ensemble. Mini sizes are particularly generous and easy to find all over the aftermarket. It’s not thebperfume I would have expected from a designer as exuberant as Roberto Cavalli, but it has a perky personality all its own, and right now—late March through late May—is the perfect time to enjoy its carefree company.

I fell in love with this after receiving a decant from a wonderful fellow Fragrantista. Thank you, D! I immediately went on line and saw it on E-bay up for auction, an auction that was ending within the hour. I put my bid in, and kept an eye on it, telling myself I would go as high as $30. I didn't want to shell out top dollar for something on E-Bay out of concern regarding counterfeits. Anyway, long story short, I paid less than $25 for it and it was 100% the real deal. I am enjoying it immensely these chilly days. This is equally good for the daytime - a real cozy sweater type of scent - as it is for the evening. Just a very pretty oriental for those who like their spices, woods, and resins with a dash of sweetness. It's a love!

EDIT - I have downgraded this to a Like - a very enthusiastic Like, but as my collection has grown, I realized that there are other orientals I prefer. It's still a great scent! It's just that my nose has become more discerning.

tinkmoi

Nothing like Trayee which is fresh and spicy

YuliaM82

It’s very unique. At first it’s smelled a bit medicinal/herbal, but when it dried it’s smelled warm, lush, and opulent. The lasting power is amazing! I took a shower and washed my wrist with soap where I sprayed the perfume, and I can still smell it afterwards. One bottle will last you for very long while.

yguess

This is unlike anything else, there is a softeness, creaminess about the journey of this perfume that I want to rush to the dry down for me that is the best part. The opening and middle notes are overwhelmingly wood, and it just irks me. So much goodness going on, and then this screechy wood note. Very wearable despite my dislike. This will stay with you all day, and if people notice your perfume it is a gentle nudge. Perfect for the office.

UnearthlyApothecary

First off I accidentally oversprayed and the strength of this one blew me away! This little gem has some power and I wasn’t expecting it. Oro is slightly sweet with a bit of dry fruit (the apricot, and thank goodness it isn’t syrupy!) a touch powdery and VERY spicy and woodsy. A real treat, and I’m so glad I swapped for a bottle as the prices are getting astronomical online. This smells like a vintage oriental, no joke. Very classy, a touch mature. Definitly not what I would expect from a Cavalli!

Absolutely delicious modern gourmand fragrance!

Let me start by complimenting the bottle. This is a lovely thin bottle with an artistic design that comes in a fitted box looking like a sculpture piece. The scent is feminine and quite attention grabbing, though not overpowering nor too offensive. It is strong as an Eau de Parfum so it's up to you how you apply it. I would love to douse myself in this thing. This is a delicious spicy thing that reminds me of a meal in Italy, not eating something cuisine but smelling it or catching whiffs from a booth table.

Open with citrus and green apple, fruity but equally as floral with a magnolia. True to a real magnolia it has a fresh slightly lemony scent on a waxy flower petal. Then it turns into a spicy, peppery scent so it's quite mature in this sense. Rather than going from fruity floral it goes to fruity spicy. This scent takes a while to develop and has a long lasting life so all the better to enjoy the different scents and the 'colors' and nuances.

Eventually this becomes a gourmand scent in the heart. I detect apricot and plenty of cinnamon and ginger, some sweet gourmand made out of spices. The lemony magnolia lingers for a while before embracing the green patchouli and woodsy notes. The wood is made of both agar wood (guaiacum) sandalwood and it contains the heady fragrant smell emitted from sandalwood in a higher volume. This is a gorgeous sandalwood. It's supposed to evoke gold or 'oro' and it does go there when the amber scent comes through. A beautiful blend of amber and wood, smelling like a golden tree bark. This matches up with the image of a tree made of solid gold. It's definitely an Oriental.

Finally I would like to say that this fragrance is luxurious and modeled out of the Arabic Middle Eastern fragrance types. Very balsamic and unisex, warm, spicy, and fragrant. It's regal and great to wear with a long gown, evening wear, jewelry and the best of haute couture. This is a Cavalli and reminds me of pure gold. It's unisex and can be worn by both sexes but seems suited to evenings in the colder months like December though February. Exotic and golden hued, one of the more beautiful creations from Cavalli.

Starts off with strong sour apricot and bitter woods with something medicinal along with spices. Very intense and some might be put off by the opening but as it settles the sour fruit subsides and a soft powdery marshmallow smell similar to divin enfant comes along.
Combined with the spices and woods it smells very oriental and alluring.
The more it develops the more the amber becomes stronger.
Definitely try before you buy because it's quite intense.

jamiehammond1980

Like alot of other reviewers I have also fallen madly in love with this gorgeous cola type scent and am thoroughly disappointed to find this has been discontinued. A crime in my opinion and shame on those who hike up the price of the bottles on eBay and other sites its taking advantage of those who really love this fragrance and can no longer get it they should at the very least offer a swap but that's just my opinion x

Missy0104

Brought this perfum online I'm a collector and it's becoming hard to find and the notes are usually what I like I really wouldn't call it an oriental vanilla the floral notes illuminate there presence then spice/woody scent but I do get the vanilla scent but not in a gourmard way. Love the bottle it's a form of art work on its own. This is a powerful fragrance and longevity is unreal. It's a true power house frangrace not for the faint hearted or the serial spritzer the key to the this one is less is best one spritz is enough for 24 hr of fragrance. I would advise do not blind buy this one you with either love or loath it. First time I sprayed it I scrubbed it off after two hours and it still stayed on my skin till the next morning. I'm wearing this today to see how it goes very light application. I must admit there is on note I don't like I think it is the freesia comes throw very floral on me. Probably not the best fragrance for office or confined spaces. but it will get you noticed that's for sure it's an out there scent no personal space scent. Great for winter wear to warm you up from the chill outside wrapped in a cashmere scarf.

Betsywoolbright

I bought this almost two years ago. I love the lineup, and all the notes seemed like they'd be winners. There was a note that didn't agree with me, though, and I never wore it. I could never place what note it was; I just thought the pepper was overly sharp. But it came to me: it is the "rotten apricot" in Serge Lutens's Daim Blond (another gem I'd've loved to have loved...). I think it is the apricot/iris combination, despite my love for iris.
I've almost sold Oro several times, but I never gave up on it (despite never wearing it) likely because my husband said, "it doesn't smell that bad."
On a whim, I layered it with Adam Levine (women), and this might be the ticket for anyone struggling with either perfume. Oro is too sharp for my taste; AL is too muffled, with no discernable shape or edges. Oro provides some structure for AL. AL softens the harshness of Oro. The one may redeem the other and I may not decide to sell either, after all!

fashionista

I bought this on a blind buy. I found a mini bottle for only $2.99 at Marshalls!! It is the most seductive $2.99 I've spent. I get so much cinnamon and coriander from this. Oro puts me in mind of cold, cold nights and a hot toddy. I consider this a soft spicy with a hint of sensuality.

corkscrewcurly

I am gradually adding to my Roberto Cavalli fragrance collection; I have yet to discover one I don't at least like! I made what I now know to be the - bad - decision to buy this last year.

It has been discontinued and is now hard to find - so naturally, I've fallen passionately in love with it.

Oro opens with a peppery, savoury-spicy punch. This calms down within about 15 minutes to a warm and creamy, slightly sweet and powdery, woody-cinnamon fragrance. I can't detect apple or any citrus at all, but there is a persistent hint of apricot throughout. I think I would describe this as a spicy oriental/borderline gourmand. I think it would be a good perfume to wear if I need to channel my inner bitch.

This is one of my favourite perfumes and I am SO cross with myself for falling in love with it; it's already expensive on eBay but I have to get a back up bottle before it's too late.

Moderate longevity and sillage.

Definitely not a safe blind buy.

NeveD

My signature fragrance. Very wild as is rapresented, long lasting.
Dear Cavalli I just wanna know why the heck this is discontinued, I have two more bottles and then what?? It's impossible to find this perfume nowhere.

lulami

It's true when they say that you can relate a perfume with a memory of the past. Well this one surely brings some childhood memories to my mind. I clearly remember that summer of 2005 when I first had the chance to become familiar with this scent. My uncle's wife had the kit of it with the perfume and body lotion and without even spraying it you could smell the most divine oriental Woody scent. It was so overpowering that one could not remain indifferent, especially me that for the first time was having an encounter with perfumes' world. That moment I realised that I totally loved oriental scents. I couldn't wait to enter her room and sniff the heavenly scent. But that evokes some not so pretty memories too being that she wouldn't let me approach her beauty kits let alone touch them and looked down on me, I could see it. So alongside this beautiful scent it will forever remain in my mind that ugly memory. Maybe one day I will purchase it but I can never get out of my head that this was her scent and I will remember her persona and her nasty behaviour. Now 11 years have passed and I'm not that girl anymore and she definitely is not that Young woman anymore - time passes inevitably for everyone and maybe one day I'll tell her how she made me feel but will it still be worth? Is it worthy feeding the beast of bitterness over the years? Now our relationship has changed and she clearly seems a different person from the arrogant woman she was back then but still the bitter memory that comes with this scent haunts me and I don't know if I will ever throw it at the back of my shoulders.

tmegeney

Just recently purchased this and do not like it at all. If there is anyone on here that would be interested in a swap, pm me :)

'Tis the season -- for this warm, spicy, comforting fragrance. It is absolutely delicious. I sometimes like layering it a bit with Cavalli Just Gold because the light spiciness complements the sweetness of Gold very nicely.

If you are like me and cannot abide the powerhouse Oriental Spicy frags of old, do not fear this one. It is not overpowering or too strong.

Love Cavalli, and this is one of his best.

Lipglossjunkee

OOOH THIS is AMAZING.
I am in love. Right from the get-go I was enchanted with the golden slender bottle with the snakeskin print. I am usually pretty happy with Cavalli scents, and this one was a blind buy that I felt pretty good about.
Mmmmmm
It opens with cinnamon, amber, and vanilla on my skin, with just a hint of sweet freesia to freshen it up and make it less of a 'potpourri in a dish' kind of scent. I could NOT stop sniffing myself today! During the drydown the Iris kicks in and gives it a powdery softness that is both sexy and cozy...The guaiac and patchouli round out the drydown, making it more woody and less of a gourmand than it could've been with these notes. There is no harshness with this scent---it is soft and well-rounded yet has lasted on me 9 hours and I can STILL smell it. A total winner. Also, easy to find and very inexpensive. Perfect Fall fragrance.

suzycurlyq

This lasts all day! I put this on at 9am this morning and here it is 7pm and I can still get wonderful wiffs of this floating around me! The cedar and the vanilla are wonderful together as that is what stands out to me. So amazing!
This is a little gentle version of Nanette Lepore Nanette!

Ruffienne

The opening notes of this are not very pleasant, sharp and stale at the same time.

However it dries down into a pleasant vanilla-spicy scent that is warm and soft without being overwhelmingly powdery (and I am very sensitive to powder).

The cinnamon is not particularly evident, but the vanilla is, at least on my skin. There is an echo of a sweet fruit there too, which is sometimes enticing but sometimes not, with wafts of the stale scent returning now and again.

This is a quiet warm fragrance for a more mature woman, and it is certainly more suitable for the cooler months.

handmedownsue

It smells like powder and flowers, which remind me of my mother and walking through a garden. A little less sweet and a little more wood for myself. But I'd wear it on a gloomy day to make you wonder every so often where live flowers are...

pink_dolphin

I love it, it smells unique! so diferent.

nellyrlight

the bottle is a piece of art..the scent is a little heavy for me...but my husband loves it..I just spray it after shower lightly in the air and walk under..and it's on my skin forever..incredible longevity..makes me think the Egyptian Cleopatra would love this!!

Nikkafragrance

Sorry, but I don't like this. I am OK with cinnamon, but the combination of pepper and coriander is not my cup of tea. I can smell the vanilla, but overall this perfume is too cloying for me. There's nothing floral in it. The bottle is interesting, though.

Catherine3385

I really like this one. I get the spices and the vanilla. I think its yummy and sexy and I enjoy smelling myself throughout the day. The bottle is nice and unique, but I have nocked it over more then once

gtabasso

Basically smells like a cheap vanilla perfume; disappointed

Rosalind34

I love this perfume. It has a very distinct vanillary scent, but it is similar to Dolce Vita. Whenever I wear this, people tell stop me and comment how good it smells. It's becoming harder to find these days unfortunately. I can only find it online it seems.

lisa.m.kasper

This has a serious Organza Indecence vibe to it. If you love Indecence but can't afford to buy vintage juice, or even the revamped stuff that is currently available, I'd say this is a decent facsimile for pennies on the dollar. It has that powdered cinnamon scent with a slight soapy undercurrent. I'm not big on soapy, but this is not off putting for me, so the soapy is understated to my nose. Since I mostly wear Obsession, I don't find this "strong" as some say, but it has a unique presence. I see other reviews saying "musky", "incense", "vanilla", "amber", all of which I would say are there, though none as singly pronounced as the cinnamon, to my nose. its the blend, I guess, that greets you. I have to really concentrate on the scent to get any woody or cedar tones. I don't get patchouli, nor do I get any floral or fruit. Weird, cuz I see it listed in the notes and described in other reviews. I think, for the price, this is a SUPER scent for fall and winter. Longevity and dry down review will have to wait since I just spritzed it on. I forgot I had this, and just dug it out of a drawer where I hide some other gems. Sort of like xmas morning. In summary, if you dig Indecence, and don't mind a little soapy, I think, for the price, this is worth adding to your collection.

auroramaria

I was going through all my perfumes this morning and I came across Oro which I haven't used in quite a while mainly because it's summer and Oro was made for cool weather as it is rather heavy and rich.
I happily wear it in Autumn/Winter as it is so warm and spicy I get mainly coriander pepper vanilla and amber and the combination is fantastic, after about an hour after spraying it gets sweet and creamy and it stays that way for a few hours so longevity is very good.
Also Oro is very good value for money since it can be found at a very good price

llburris

Strange how this smells on me. I smell donuts when it dries down. That's a first!

pravda48

To me it smells somehow like a very mild sweetly spiced tobacco. Men around me told me I smelled "like oriental spices, very different but nice."

It's warm and softy spice-sweet. I thought I loved it from a sample but after wearing it a few times from FB I got as a gift I think I'd rather smell this AROUND me than on me. *shrug*

It is nice for the price point and definitely different! It has some recognizably Cavalli element I can't pin down, and Cavallis never seem to mesh quite right w/ my skin. (They always become too syrupy on me.)

So I'm biased. But I can say it's warm and pleasant if you like sweet-ish orientals.

P.S. I owned Iris Taizo and don't get the comparison... Taizo is SO much heavier and spicier! It actually smelled like heavy styrax on my skin, dark and heavy and roughly spiced a la Ambre Fetiche. Oro is MUCH softer, sweeter, and differently spiced altogether.

HeidiLynn

I've been curious about this perfume, and thanks to a generous fragrantican, I have a decant to try.

The initial blast of Oro is very powerful, a spicy, sneeze inducing combination of pepper and what must be the coriander. The coriander is sort of spicy-fleshy-musty; I don't know how to describe it, but it did not complement the pepper but rather seemed to amp it up. These notes were combined with a fruitiness from the apple. Altogether, the opening was like a fruit salad doused with pepper and other savory spices--like an attempt at avante garde cookery that ended up a bit of a mess, rather than creating a unique counterpoint.

That faded, and then a light spicy cinnamon-vanilla scent appeared within the first 45 minutes. There is still a residual fleshiness that hovers in the background, like spoiling fruit, which interrupts what would otherwise be a pleasant oriental fragrance. At this point, the scent is faint on my skin and I cannot distinguish any other notes.

Altogether, I'm rather disapointed in this scent. I feel like it could have been great if the latter notes had more longevity, and if the initial notes were better composed. Longevity about 2 hours, sillage was strong for the first 30 min and then quickly faded.

leFemale72

...because of this perfume I fell`d in love with Roberto Cavalli `s scents .Always original and best quality ,no fake .All of them are just perfectly good ,nothing reformulated.ORO just one of them, most suitable for cold spring in my opinion,it has warm golden aura,so sensitive ...Just Glowing ...

Namarie

this one so different for me but truly i love the smells its like a cooking biscuits :D spicy and long lasting

Mercedesxoxo

Oro promised Turkish delights, nights spent in the Arabian desert... What it delivered absolutely shocked me. I received a highly anticipated perfume that let me down in many ways, which was upsetting as the nose behind this scent has crafted some of the best perfumes I have had the pleasure to own.

The packaging was beautiful, pink and gold snakeskin- a print that Victoria Beckham would have worn on one of her late 90s Cavalli dresses. To my dismay, inside this fun packaging sat an oddly shaped, dainty, reed-like bottle that had a cheap plastic snake wrapped about the top. It was tacky, offensive and made spraying impossible. I removed that serpent only to find a greater letdown in the juice itself. Had my expectations been too high? Had the discontinued perfume go stake before it arrived? I don't know, nor do I reflect on these thoughts. Once the blast of black pepper and cloying incense hit my nostrils I knew I had made a mistake. I was hoping for exotic dreams of magic carpet rides but all I got was rotten apricots in a syrupy pepper nightmare. The cinnamon, instead of moulding the scent a là L de Lolita, added to the noxious cloud that sent my head reeling. The coriander was terribly pronounced and fought brutally with the pepper the entire way through.

I don't know what went wrong, I tried to give Oro a chance over several days and I appreciate others who love this scent. I could have received an old bottle or perhaps my nose was missing the subtle nuances that make this perfume loved by many. But I warn those who blind buy discontinued scents- try to test first if you can. For me Oro was not worth it's weight in fool's gold.

dissolver

I took a quick sniff of this at a friend's and found it inoffensive but not compelling -- then after reading reviews on here, I bought it, and oh I LOVE this. It's definitely a shapeshifter on me -- it goes on very sweet and creamy and cinnamony, with just enough amber to anchor it, and dries down into warm peppery woods with just a ghost of sweet spiciness. It definitely turns into a skin scent in the latter phase, but it really is lovely throughout.

perfumeaddiction

I was lucky to get a sample roll on of this in a swap. (Thank you Agatha) I am extremely impressed with this perfume. Not only to my nose does it smell absolutely fantastic but the lasting power is incredible. I could get a pleasant wiff of myself over the past 5 hours and still going strong. What is enjoyable about this scent is it's not gushing floral. Initially it goes on with a strong kick but a warm and fuzzy strength. As it settles and soaks into the skin it gets even better, richer and just plain sexy. It seems like a great evening fragrance but can also work in the day if applied with a light hand. It has the feel of a colder weather fragrance and I am loving it completely! Looking for a large bottle in swap :)

One thing to note and this is really strange. I was soaking up this gorgeous aroma for 5 hours and loving it. I had to scrub out the bath tub with bleach and ajax and somehow the fumes from the cleaner mixed with the perfume to create a pungent gross skunk smell. Cleaner never touched my skin it was a chemical reaction. This has never happened with any other frag and only when exposed to chemicals - otherwise great frag. Moral of the story is, clean your bathroom on a different day your not wearing this. Otherwise I stick to my original review it's fabulous.

Just a short note regarding Roberto Cavalli's "Oro." I recently bought the 2.5 ounce EDP and was wondering what year this fragrance was launched. According to Basenotes: it's from 2004.

I did an unsniffed "blind buy" of this based on the notes, reviews, and kind recommendation of a fellow Fragrantican. I have yet to try it (on my skin.) I'll return with a review shortly. Enjoy!

ecerusen

i cant understand why i couldnt get the cinnamon notes which i love the most :(
anyway, this one was blind buy for me, i found nothing special according to my other perfumes. but the bottle... it is a problem. uncomfortable pin, plastic snake, plastic cap makes its design cheaper. i dont want to add this bottle to my collection actually.

its not heavy, actually it fits to summer. i'm an heavy smell addict so i gave it to my mother.

edit : i gave it a second chance and ta daaa, smells charming and oriental lady with stunning eyes. like it!

but the bottle is still the same lol

AngieGCarp

Spicy is RIGHT!!! But gorgeous if you can just give it about 10 minutes for the pepper and the coriander to settle down into a creamy almost chia tea vibe. I HAVE to preface this with the fact that I LOVE pepper and cinnamon notes in my perfumes. Some of my absolute favorites are Madness by Chopard and Si Lolita by Lolita Lempicka. The sandalwood keeps this one grounded in a soft spicy creamy accord. I recommend.

Happy Perfuming!

evacecilias

For not beeing a real cinnamon lover in perfume, this was a crazy choice for me to even thinking of getting. But sometimes you get the opportunity to get rid of something not your taste and given the chance to try something new...
This was a win win situation even if I didn't know antything about this perfume a week ago.
It starts peppery, bergamot coriander and is not a really well blended opening but ..top never stays too long on me.
It settles into a cinnamon woody musky skin scent on me, no sharp edges or harsh at all. I would say it also has som pelargonium or pimpernel but no note like that is listed.
I quite like it but the bottle needs to be kept from tired monday morning children fingers, kept lying down or standing in a corner somewhere.
And I wonder if the little plastic spray nozzle will live through my 75 lovely tall millilitres ?
I find it to be a day wear for fall or winter season and maybe for evening for the Cinnanon oriental lover.
I would mot call it strong m
or weak. Close to skin pepper and cinnamon.
I recommend it !

Update...
After receiving andd trying out Mitsouko, finding Mitsouko too strong- this was the one that came to mimd...it is actually a good toned down replacement for it r.creamier and easier to wear where Mitsouko almost burnt my mose from the pepper and cinnamon.
Try this -it is easier to wear with the same vibe!

perfumejunkie75

I don't think I'm going to keep this one. Total blind buy, but I did read the reviews first. This one is extemeley woodsy in the beginning. Crazy cedar wood is all I got. The drydown calmed down and it doesn't smell as harsh, but I just don't think this is for me. I smell incense or something very smokey. I don't get any fruit notes at all. I do smell the "Christmas" in it like those evergreen candles, but I can't stand that scent. I only paid $20 at Ross, which makes me feel better. The bottle is super tall and awesome design and I see it retails for around $85!! Heck no! I think Mr. Cavalli is going to have to find a new home here soon. I wanted to give it a chance to settle, but it's just not working for me.

lyciumchld

Citrus and pepper overwhelm in Oro's opening on my skin - so much so that the scent is almost reminiscent of bug spray. However, a short wait yields the beginning of a most fabulous transformation!! Oro's mid-stages are like Christmas. Orangey, cinnamon-y, cedary, with a hint of sweet-ish vanilla. YUM!!! The dry-down continues to soften and blend, with spices taking a back seat. Oro is sexy; the kind of sexy one wants to devour. Closer to the earlier middle stages of the scent I can very much see what the perfumer was going for; this is very much exotic, desert gold. However, Oro strikes me as a fragrance that's potentially quite versatile, depending on the application. I could easily see Oro being at home both in front of a fireplace on a winter's night and in the heat of summer desire. A++!!!

Kayse

"Sexy!" Is what my husband said about this one.
Spiced blood oranges that become powdery as the hours go by.
The low cost surprises me, nose Maurice Roucle created Bond no 9 and Amouage perfumes as well. This is great quality. I do prefer this on fabric rather than skin

andulce55

Jsem z něho nadšená-nádherná,orientální vůně-na těle se krásně teple rozvine a drží....

mad.kat.96

Initial blast of black pepper & cinnamon.. As someone below said a real spicebomb.. Warms up with the woods & amber.. I really love it! Very strong with good sillage & longevity.

NicoleO

This was suggested to me as something similar to CD Dolce Vita, and was a blind buy. I've worn it a few times now, and the more I wear it the more I like it. The opening spray is very similar to Dolce Vita, but that's where it ends. Oro is smooth and warm, spicy with a hint of sweetness, where DV is bright, sweet and joyful. Dolce Vita uplifts my mood, Oro gives me a warm hug. I don't find Oro overly strong, and it lasts about 4/5 hours before I need to respray. I need to stock up on this beauty while it can still be found for a bargain price.

Rizaldo

Unique!!!

KATERINA LABROPOULOU

Amazing spice bomb with enormous lasting power. Very powerful opening and after 10 mins the miracle is presented with majesty. Do not hesitate at all and try it.One of the best oriental perfumes. The bottle is unusual and must be treated gently. Thanks R Cavalli.

jadejoann4

I expect so much from my serpentine friend. I really wanted to love this fragrance but It was only used diapers with baby powder on me. Absolutely horrific. I am usually an open person with some preference to gourmand but I found nothing to salvage this scent exept that it lasted 10 minutes. THAT I WAS THANKFUL FOR

rottannie

I read through all the reviews and was really excited to try this. I LOVE sweet spicey scents. But on me, it opened with really strong pepper and lime (with a little cinnamon), to the degree its all I could smell. My chemistry seems to magnify any citrus type notes, which is really annoying as its my least favorite.

ragutka

A warm as a cashmere , sweet and a little bit spicy. Very, very nice to wear all year around. A bottle design is not my cup of tea but a scent inside - that's it ! One of my favorites.

mad.kat.96

LOVE IT! I'd call it a woody spicy orintal, I dont get much pepper (thank you very much as I usually dont like pepper) Light on floral to me. I think it will definately be in my top 5 if it lasts, I've only had it on a tad over an hour..

However I hate the plastic rings around the stopper of the .17 mini I got, cute to look at but hard as heck to open as the rings just slide up and down not giving me much to grab on to.

allexa

The smell opens with oriental lily(auratum, sulfureum or platyphyllum, not sure) Strong Lily overpowering everything. I don't see Lily in the pyramid, but it's definetely not ordinary spices like pepper or cinnamon. It's floral spicy. It stays for about half hour and then comes dry fruits. Something like dry apricots, raisins, apples, but is has a "soft dry" hint, like a little rotten fruit. A little amber comes next, then wooden notes. Two hours later lily is still strong. It's a little annoying. In 24 hours I have fresh soupy hint (is it cedar?) on my wrist.

Be careful with it in public places. I'll give it 6 out of 10.

freddinos

Cavalli Oro is Dolce Vita's Italian counterpart. It is spicy, floral and amazing. For my lifestyle Dolce Vita is my work-safe perfume, never too sexy or strong but with a distinct character and unforgettable smell. Cavalli Oro is my night-out Dolce Vita. Strong cinnamon blended with peppery florals, amber and sandalwood... Really sad it's discontinued...

feely

Love this in the fall and winter. Big, bold black pepper and lily on me. Pretty great combination of notes. Yeah, I can't count the times I've tipped the bottle over!

lmliscool7

Do I also detect stargazer lily? For me this is spicy/floral. I keep thinking funeral parlor...

mihaela01

Very good scent, spicy and elegant,my best blind buy, oriental and sexy. The bottle is not the best but the perfume is amazing!!!!!!

Clyn11

Love the cinnamon! Sister to Dior's Dolce Vita! Sweet sexy spicy confident scent

Sassy1

Oro is a sub-quality Anne Pliska slumming it with a pepper shaker.
Powdery orange drink and black pepper. That pretty well sums up Oro.
But, I find that the more I wear it the more I like it.
Since it's reasonably priced I will keep it as a "back burner" purchase option.

Teebird

Christmas in a bottle! Last year, my daughter remarked that I smelled like spiced eggnog when I was wearing it. While this is spicy, it isn't over-bearing in any way--the cinnamon and pepper are strong for only the first few minutes, and then after that it is a soft, warming and comforting scent for this time of year.

Princess06

It's perfect for winter time, warm, sweet, intense...Identical with Dolce Vita- Christian Dior. I love it!!!

athenian

Don't have a problem with the spices but the pepper notes are way too strong. Makes me think of Parfum Sacre by Caron. I like it OK.

casmirlover

It reminds me very much of Dolce Vita by Dior. I can also smell a hint of Givenchy's Organza Indecence (cinnamon) and Kenzo Jungle Elephant. Thus I guess admirers of the above mentioned will go crazy about Oro as I have!!

dioradddict

I can´t find it anymore here in Brazil, nor the lighter pink version. Was it limited edition? I just love this one! rich, creamy spicy floral, very beautiful scent and cute bottle... now I just use some drops at a time!

mimette11

I don t really like it but I get a lot of compliments - specially from men- when I wear it...

Takhaet

This perfume is unbelievably strong and oriental. I can smell honey , vanilla, pepper, sandalwood and something that reminds me a lot of oriental incense sticks. Very warm and cozy scent . It warms me up like a mulled wine in winter :-)

I like it a lot but in small doses one or two sprays are enough for all day .

joliecat

Oro is a Super Strong SPICY powerhouse ! SWEET, very very feminine, lively, exotic, very oriental ! Oro is POWERFUL, like the classic oriental perfumes of the late 1970's and '80's. Like those classic fragrances, Oro is unique, memorable, well blended, and definitely a classic oriental.

ORO emphasizes SPICES, and these spices STAY with you......they don't fade away. One quick spray in your hair will last until your next shampoo. ORO lasts incredibly long on clothing fabrics, too. On skin, the scent calms down a bit after an hour or so, but clings until your next shower.

For those whose skin "eats" perfume, you might want to use ORO Body Lotion, then spray the perfume on top of that. ORO will last on dry skin if you use the body lotion first. Another way to make perfumes last is to add just a very thin layer of mineral oil or Vaseline to skin, then spray perfume over it.

If you like the Original formula of Yves St Laurent Opium, you will probably like ORO. Oro seems a bit sweeter than Opium, and more "sparkly and lively."

ORO is strong , so very little goes a long long way.

snowbunny007

I remember a time when sweet, spicy, cinnamon(y) type fragrances were considered orientals- and, gourmand elements were said to be "spicy". Gourmands were an olfactory sensation within the spicy/oriental category and not a category unto themselves. Oro falls into this slot, as being a spicy/oriental fragrance with some quasi-gourmand notes that is not an official gourmand fragrance.

The heart of this fragrance contains pepper, which sets the stage for an acrobatic act of spicy accords. You have the sensation of sweet and spicy nutmeg, with a vanillic kick- thanks to pepper. It's warm and sightly pungent and certainly sexy. But it's not all about the spices. There are lilting top notes and a soft woody base that rounds out the composition. This fragrance claims to last a full 11 hours, and does if you use the entire line. But, for the EDP by itself-expect about 4 to 6 good hours of scent.

The bottle gets a little bad reviewing for several factors. It is assumed that the pattern on the bottle is snakeskin. But, it's not. It's actually a wave pattern designed to represent sand ripples in a hot desert. The snake covering the top of the bottle is a sidewinder- a common desert snake. However, I think it would have done better to be made of metal or glass and include more detailing...and perhaps be affixed to the bottle.

This is not a gourmand fragrance that reminds us of holiday desserts. It's intention is to bring us to the world of the exotic with sultry warmth and forbidden spice accords. Instead of thinking cookies and parties, imagine yourself on a desert safari. Opulent, silk tents furnished with tapestried carpets-incense burning, hot winds and drifting dunes turning to gold in the evening sun. That's the message of Oro. Exotic. Sensual. Hot. Sultry.

adrienn99

very nice, i can smell the cinnamon at the opening.
with time the scent gets a lot lighter, turns into clementines, with a touch of pepper (or if I have to go by the notes, apricots and freesia).

easybeauty.via giolitti

Fragranza molto avvolgente, assomiglia molto ad aegyptus di tesori d'oriente coty e ad organza di givenchy.

ol' smeller

Love this....has all my fave notes......will wear it for everything & anything. It's strong & long lasting so gotta go easy on the spray down. Very woodsy-musky-moss with a touch of cinamon.

hollyms

This is sooooo incredibly strong! I just held it for a while in TJ Maxx and took a few sniffs, and all through the car ride home I could smell it on me! The smell is very nice though, very classy and mature without being matronly. I just wouldn't have the guts to wear something this strong.

JessiMaiyasmommy

ok i just got it recently, first smell wonderful, sprayed again, way too much maybe perfect if u use one spritz per day dry down is amazing worth the money will def wear on occasion def not for everyday indulgence or repeat purchase

[email protected]

Okay, I have been wearing this off and on over the last few days. I always am racking my brain to find similarities between scents. While perfumes can share a lot of the same notes they will never be identical. It came to me this morning that this perfume reminds me of Boudoir.... A lot. While I love Boudoir for a whole host of other reasons it has to applied carefully or it can be sharp. There are quite a few of the same shared notes and Oro works better as an everyday. It is lovely, warm and tasty. I know that sounds strange but that is how it is to me. The price is very reasonable and if you like Boudoir, you will really like this.

sharyssa

i seen at tjmaxx i like the bottle but the scent smells old and stale i wouldnt pay what tj's is aking but if it goes on clearance i would just for the bottle thats it!

skitten

Update... Can now buy it for a song,(Cheap) and I have bought another bottle 75ml....
Have learned to appreciate the difference between Opium YSL,(the price) as Oro has way more sweet limy citrus and is a more sparkling scent, but still similar.
Just apply more to the skin, make sure you do not knock the fragile, tall, slender bottle over and the perfume should last...lol...x

Veda_honey

I've just picked up a 50ml bottle for £10 at Tkmaxx on a whim after reading reviews here (I'm blaming all your wonderful reviews for my rapidly diminishing shelf space!) So, first spray and it wasn't love, it's nice but a bit sparkling for my taste! Does that make sense? In the same way that Notorious has a big glittery opening - oro has quite a metallic wallop that's just not me. After first hour or so, lurking in the background is lovely cinnamon, wood, patchouli combo that really comes into it's own on the drydown. It's gorgeous, and smells much more than it's price. Very comforting, surprisingly sophiscated and well worth the wait.

tessture

Classic oriental sandalwood fragrance, slightly boozy, velvety. It smells like a rich, elegant evening out in silk stockings. Unfortunately, classic orientals always smell dated on me, so this one is a pass for me.

full_of_colours

This fragrance is very spicy and intense but also very sweet. Loud and seductive.

trollet

It's a wonderful scent, but unfortunately it does not last. Not even if I put it on three times during the day. So sad, love the smell.

olga1780

I was wearing it out tonight and it was still going on strong after 3 hours until I came home and washed it off. This spicy scent goes really well with brown, cream and beige clothes.

olga1780

Oh, my, very lovely and different spicy fragrance......it does have some similarities with Nu YSL, but Oro is spicier. Actually, I even smell something reminiscent of Kenzo Jungle Elephant. Beautiful bottle too....but the snake had to go right away. On my skin the sillage is great, 5 sprays and I can enjoy it for a few hours.
Overall, I am impressed with Cavalli fragrances....unique scents and lovely presentation.

Having looked up the nose behind it, no wonder I like ti so much.....one of my favourite Guerlains were created by the same person.

candymarie

Initially there was something slightly off-putting to me about Oro, but because of all the positive and glowing reviews here, I decided I must give this one another opportunity to win me over. So glad I did. While I felt compelled to wash it off the first time, this time I just waited patiently and lo and behold, within 30 minutes or so that aspect that had put me off before somehow morphed into that dark and mysterious something or other that another reviewer described. It IS deliciously complex and is definitely growing on me.

cinsot

Once I had finally negotiated the removal of the plastic gold snake (priceless!) which was preventing me from operating the nozzle to extract this divine sounding concoction, I was met with mild disappointment as the three conservative spritzes I applied to my heart-line fizzled and faded all too quickly. The watered down aroma I glimpsed before it vanished entirely held a great deal of promise.

Not to be deterred I proceeded to generously apply a further SIX spritzes to my upper body (rarely will I wear fragrance above my heart-line) and presto! Now we are talkin'!

Oro comes out of the bottle like a timid and shy NU by YSL which made me smile in recognition for some strange reason (I agree JazzBirdSinger). As I went about my morning, I noticed the most glorious apple-strudel-smothered-in-warm-thick-sticky-apricot-conserve aroma emanating from my person. I smelled delicious.

Wow, what a creeper you are Oro!

I am pleased I purchased a largish bottle as I literally have to marinate myself in Oro to achieve the desired intensity, but oh my, absolutely worth each and every one of those nine sprays.

isabella211

the best blind purchase i ever made! absolutely incredible. there isn't one aspect of this perfume that i don't love. from start to finish, she keeps me interested. she's dark, she's sexy, she's complicated, mysterious and intriguing. Mistress Eva compares Oro to a Turkish harem and i have to completely agree. this perfume is so exotic and confident, it makes you feel like a seductive belly dancer. i too get incense from this gem, even though its not listed. a little incense is ALWAYS a good thing in my book, to evoke a little darkness and mystery about the wearer. the price tag is completely off for the goods contained in this bottle. will be wearing this for hot summer nights(aka right now) and with buttery soft leather jackets in the cooler months. timeless, season-less.

twillocks

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THIS ! IT IS WONDERFULLY SPICY AND SWEET . . . IT SMELLS SOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD!!

FRAGRANZA

It lasts so much.....sweet and spicy. Bottle beautiful.

krissycat

This is too spicey for my liking, but I will say this for it, the scent is very exotic and it has great sillage and lasting power. I sprayed one spritz on my hand and I could smell this scent the next several hours stronger then when I spray 15 sprays of most of my other perfumes . I only wish I enjoyed the scent more. For me I find this perfume too heady and as I mentioned, too spicey.. not feminine enough for me. I picture this on more of an exotic strong woman with a good head on her shoulders. I'm more the shy girly type that enjoys the cotton candy and tween scents, even though I'm far from a teen. I'm saving this perfume to wear on nights I want to crawl out of my shell and be more sophisticated... it's an awesome perfume paired with a suit or some powerful looking outfit.. as someone else mentioned, prepare to be noticed.

OlfractalInfemme

This smelled quite old-fashioned to my nose. Old flowers, sandalwood and citrus, not so much fruity as slightly fermented. It has spiciness at its heart which rounds it out, somewhat similar to Aqaba in that. It doesn't speak to me otherwise.

Updated: I've tried this again... wow spicy woods underneath... this scent is really growing on me...

Inspire0111

I really like the top notes in this perfume. The opening smells a bit like sweet fruity liqueur on me. But unfortunately it dries down to a rather unimpressive, a bit too ordinary sugary smell.

Mistress Eva

I absolutely love it (as well as the rather suggestive bottle) -- it is one of my new signature fragrances. It is extremely sensual & warm, to me evoking images of a decadent Turkish harem. It is probably an evening scent, though I often wear it during the day as I am prone to overdress. If you like something exotic, bold & darkly sexy, you might look into this. I don't imagine those who prefer sugary, fruity or edible-smelling perfumes would care for this one at all.

crlygrly

The tall golden bottle and box are absolutely beautiful as is the fragrance inside. To me, it smells "Golden" The sharp cinnamon and creamy vanilla together are lovely. The vanilla takes the bite out of the cinnamon. The apple and pepper at the top are quite sharp and invigorating, but are soon mellowed by the amber and musk. The cedar in the middle notes is long lasting for me and I enjoy it well into the dry down. It is powerful and heady potion, so apply with a light touch. Then be prepared to enjoy each phase as the warmth develops with your own body chemistry. It is quite hard to find, so I snap it up every time I find it. I went without it for a few years and thought of it often. My newest bottle will go very quickly because I reach for it time and time again. Day or night. Any season. It is one of my all time favorites.

kimberly

This is on special at TJ Max right now for 15.00 for 75 ml, 2.5 ounces. I smelled it. It does have a stronger note of cinnamon. But I think it just doesn't round off well. I didn't care for it. I think if you want something that smells expensive and oriental that you should go for Cinnabar, or something by Estee Lauder...It is spicy, but smells sort of cheap.

melia

I'm shocked at this moment. I was in Milan, and they had this sale at the Douglas-store: 75 ml of Roberto Cavalli Oro for 25 euros. I remembered I've read somewhere that it's quite hard to find, so I tried it on a piece of paper... And it reminded me of a lot of cheesy old ladies with golden hoops, brown wrinkled skin, whiteblond hair, pink nails and an oversized cheetah-print tee! Mauboussin had the same effect on me by the way... So- I caught a little and forgot about it. But now I'm starting to doubt myself; why do so many adore this one? And 25 euros is really not that much... Oh well, at least I have sóme evidence: my mom did not like it either.

miZZpuRRfect

Maurice Roucel is one of my fave noses, because he does really rich and sexy scents, and almost unconventional ones!

cavalli oro is really not a shy perfume - it's sultry and sexy in a 'romantic' way, not nasty!

starts juicy with delicious apple and mandarin, cinnamon kicks in very exiting, the magnolia is creamy and soft and gives this woody-spicy oriental a very feminine touch in the heart.

soft patchouli, woody spicy cedar and quaiac wood are calming down the sweetness, but the juiciness of the top will still pop up sparkly from the background. heart settles well down to that wonderful and tempting oriental bottomnotes of sandalwood, amber, musk and a hint of vanilla. all notes are nice blendet to a very rich, honeylike composition, bold but comfortable to wear. a scent that make people remembering you because it's very attractive and distinguish, feminine and for good - not very popular.
this juice is shurely not offending but it's remarkable: sweet flowery oriental trails will surround you for some hours without having to reaply. put it on your hair too!

sillage very good, staying power very good.

the bottle is really cute, i like this feminine and elegant design and the plastic snake suits it very well without making it cheap-looking. well done cavalli! thumbs up!

btw. the pink one is delicious too! not at all to compare with this one but very pink in a elegant way, sweet and very distinguable. not girlish, but feminine and romantic. love both of them!

Olfactarama

This is a sleeper -- and a keeper. I love the use of mandarin in the top -- a fruity vanilla oriental, a Mauice Roucel fragrance for practically no money; what could be wrong, besides the plastic snake?

Aromaqueen

Wore this perfume today and it was simply beautiful. Warm, exotic and sexy. Compliments galore from both men and woman. This is a keeper!

skitten

Would be a really lovely perfume if it lasted on the skin. Expensive in Australia and hard to find. Is exotic and very oriental, but tries to be like Opium YSL. Opium wins hands down and lasts forever on the skin. Oro does smell good, but I will not buy another one, I look at it and admire the bottle in my collecton.

secretcrush

I smelled this last night and it wasnt half bad... The only thing that deterred me was the heavy heaping of cinnamon... I just cant get w/ cinnamon in a fragrance!!! This is the very reason I didnt buy Queen of Hearts by QL...

millan

Bought a big bottle at a Marshall for $15 and i could not let this pass. I plan to keep in the box because this weird and long bottle, a little wind can tip it and break it.The box reminds me of a Pharaoh's tomb. But the juice is strange and wonderful. The coriander make's it special Its Mystical, soothing and tempting I smell incense too I'm glad I bot this bottles It is a GEM!!!

elusivek

The ultimate downfall of this perfume is the bottle!

The scent
The scent opens up being sweet and spicy with a lovely floral and a touch of powder. I like that the sweetness comes from the fruit rather than a sugary or honey type of sweetness. The blend of coriander, pepper, and cinnamon are done so that none particularly stand out but it brings the spicy warmth. I don't care for Iris in general because of the powdery note it brings but it's not overdone here. The magnolia adds brightness without being cloying or loud.

Next a unique patch/cedar note with a green element that harmonizes the perfume.

Then a warm deep wood/resin base cradles while the patch/cedar and floral fade out a bit, leaving a very unique smooth, deep, spicy and ambery-woods trail that lingers on and on.

The bottle
Pictures cannot accurately reflect the absolute cheap tackiness of it. Unfortunately, no exaggeration, I'm talking cheap like the mass produced ultra chintzy toys that you get 10 of in a package at the dollar store. In person it’s so obviously cheap looking that I won’t be displaying it with my collection because I’d be embarrassed for anyone to see it! Not only that, it's a stopper so it's a pita to even open the bottle because of that fact alone and then even more so because of the flimsy plastic coiled around where you need to grasp to get the top off. They could have used gold colored metal and it would have been more durable, easier to get off and look a lot classier.

It's an interesting and unique perfume, I like it BUT it's not compelling enough for me to get past the bottle. Such a shame that they'd ruin a decent perfume with such a poorly designed bottle/top

Jillzilla

The cinnamon was quite dominant on me, and my chemistry cannot handle too much cinnamon, so the fragrance never opened up. I do like the base, though, warm, sweet and woody.

crimsonbutterflies

The advert says it all. All I can say is EROTIC. True definition of how an oriental perfume is without being cloying (provided you use it with a light hand, two spritzes are enough), powerful sillage, mature but not an old lady perfume, incense-like but does not remind you of a church (like Galliano does, God, I just couldn't bring myself to love that one!) I am 28 and have been in love with Oro for at least 3-4 years so it appeals to young women with a love for a classic, oriental scent. Roberto Cavalli is aggressive in its assertion of sexiness -like a panther ready to jump on its prey - and yet so irresistible. This perfume gives me an unbelievable sense of confidence, makes me feel like a man-magnet (lol). Definitely worth buying if you like to leave a trail of sexiness behind you, this perfume is NOT meant to go unnoticed. I used to have the original Roberto Cavalli (in the pink bottle) but it was stolen from me so this time I decided to amp it up and go for the Queen of Oriental perfumes: Roberto Cavalli Oro. Gold never smelled so good. :)

mizsadako

My first impression was of a fuzzy champagne, then seconds after a crescendo of fruity liqueur and incense. The fruity waves are more apricot and bergamot, but in a interesting way, it seems to sparkles through four or five minutes til calm down and develop in a delicious mix with the incense notes. But...when you are prepared to stay with the "heavy notes" of wood and spicy, sublt some fruity quintessense can be perceived again, well combined and softening the otherwise common oriental fragrance. The last notes are something like apple, cinnamon and the warmness of vanilla, amber and musk. Sweet and rare. Oro is not common, not invasive (for a spicy oriental, hat usually makes me sneeze). Beautiful flacon, a must have!

Kama

I had this perfume and I gave it away...
It was much too..."oily" or as someone said kind of liquier smell...
I like liquier but not really smell like kind of liquier...
Not my cap of tea...although I liked the smell but I just could not wear it as I found it just too heavy...not strong but heavy as kind of oil/liquier....

luisa margarita

dura dias.......... es una fragancia lider y deliciosa....... muy madura y no apta para pasar desapercibida

esprit2fly

This fragrance is an explosion of seduction. I feel it in the air like velvet waves. It is covering me like a gold dress and I feel me so radiant.

Aeternitas

Am I crazy?! This stuff is amazing, please disregard my last review. I tried this again on my skin today, and it is simply gorgeous; strong, sexy, exotic. An oriental spicy mixture to die for. This time I tried it I got fruit - apricot- and something like incense, which is the cinnamon, vanilla, amber, and musk dry down. I want a full bottle now!

Aeternitas

This bottle is so beautiful, I wish I could enjoy the perfume held within it. :) It's definitely an oriental spicy, but the flowers in the top notes are very prominent, don't like it... I think it's the magnolia or orris root I could do without. However, I love the way it smells on my mother. It's a classic, for ladies and mature. Oh, and it's really strong and long lasting! I find it unique and memorable.
