White floral and I am loving it! This is a spring summer scent. Longevity for TF is excellent on me. I don’t get the cypress that is listed, I mainly get the floral notes and it’s so beautiful.

Setting the scene for this is a garden party, a date night or going out to dinner in the evening on a tropical vacation! I love this! this is for a mature woman not a teenager! Like the reviewer below this is a thicker Soleil Blanc (which I got rid of because it did not last on me) You will have a sillage that will get you compliments. 10/10 it is discontinued but I think there are a few around so try and get your hands on this if you can! Funny, I had a a travel size and got rid of it but now I bought a 100ml and I love it!

OzzyEyes

I tried this on my arm today and I ended up loving it. At first it reminded me of TF Soli Blanc, but thicker, stronger, way more longevity and more complex. I see the Terracotta resemblance, but Teracotta is much sweeter, personally I like Terracotta heaps more, but I absolutely loved the cocoa body butter vibes in the dry down of Orchid Soleil. This fragrance has made it to my wish list. I wouldn't wear Terracotta in anything but hot weather, but Orchid Soleil can be worn year round.

LauraVTerrazas

The opening of this was promising but the dry down was foul! You know those Bean Boozled jelly beans? It smelled like one of the icky ones. 😕

wondervalley666

Oh man, instant love. I never had much luck with TF frags in years past. I guess I just wasn't sampling the right ones! I fell in love with Soleil Blanc years ago after buying a mini. I bought a full bottle and I'm not sure if the scent was a fake or what, but all the magic was gone, it was flat, basic, and short lived -- probably a fake :( . I recently fell in love with Black Orchid and have been trying to sample the rest of the Orchid line. I also am a huge tuberose lover. I found a bottle of Orchid Soleil for a decent price and blind bought.

First spray was instant love. I haven't been able to stop smelling myself since. It has all the creamy tropical nuances I fell in love with in Soleil Blanc, with an added realistic carnal flower-esque tuberose. This isn't a dupe for Carnal Flower by any means, but if you're a CF fan and wish for a slightly more solar tropical summery version with a little less green, this is your gal. I'd say this could be unisex. I do not get tortillas from this, but I can somewhat see how the indoles create an almost earthy musky gourmand sense. Might be dependent on individual chemistry. Luckily I have great luck with tuberose remaining flowery and sexy on my skin without turning sour or funky.

I can't believe this is discontinued. I will be adding backups to my collection asap. This blows soleil blanc out of the water. I'd say it's much closer in scent profile to soleil blanc than black orchid. It's incredibly addictive and is one of the most luxe summery/solar/sunscreen-type frags I've ever smelled. It isn't cheap sunscreen by any means. This is what millionaires sunbathe in while on tropical islands.

I've sampled a lot of summer/sunscreen type scents over the years. I'd say this is a mix between soleil blanc and has something in it that reminds me a bit of Aerin's Hibiscus Palm. Orchid Soleil is much better than either of those scents, in my opinion.

As for the negative-first, this isn’t as sweet or vanilla heavy as the accords state. I’d put sweet/vanilla at the bottom of the accords list. It also doesn’t last long on my skin or hair, and projects softly, so I do need to spray a lot. The biggest warning I have though is DO NOT spray this on clothing unless you’re wearing black. The orange-pink juice does stain clothing. I woke up this morning to find that the light blue shirt I wore with Orchid Soleil last night looks like someone stained it with pink blush/makeup everywhere 😩 I tend to wear my perfume more in my hair (I have very long smooth shiny hair and have done this my whole life every day for 20+ years with no damage to my hair as so many sources warn) and clothing as scents don’t last on my skin and I try to minimize the chemicals I directly apply to my body. I also wear white a lot in the summer, So I need to figure out how to wear this and make it work without spraying clothing. I’d warn against spraying this in your hair if you’re blonde, especially if you dye your hair, as it may stain your hair with pink spots.

I still love this scent and bought 2 backups. It’s utterly gorgeous. Hopefully TF will rerelease or make a new version of this type of scent in the future.

Jomashop has this in stock right now for $99!

Tshahb

Very strange, sort of sharp, minty opening, kind of like if you made tuberose flavoured herbal toothpaste, with a somewhat bucolic, meadowy undertone, all the while maintaing the black orchid DNA, which is immediately apparent.

I don't quite understand what I'm smelling yet. What.i can say is that all of the above listed notes are there and are strong, although not quite as muscle-bound as the tyrannical BO EDP.

There's something sour under it all that I pick out more where my skin is warmest (inner elbow), a sort of off-smelling, yeasty, hoppy fizz. What is this perfume doing?

One of the craziest scents I've tried and I've tried a shit ton. Bravo maybe.

yuser99

Absolutely loved the whipped cream note in this, perfect wear in winter or at night times. But ever since reading a review on here I can’t stop smelling the corn chips smell 😭😭😭 whoever ruined this for me, sleep with one eye open.

purplesugar

I’m perplexed as to seeing corn notes in this lol 😂 I would have never thought of that whatsoever! I have a sample of this and it may be worth noting that it’s red liquid ! It smells so circa 1980s when perfume WAS ORIGINAL! It has depth it has sweetness it has creaminess and maybe a floral which makes this complete. It smells nothing at all like any other perfume I’ve smelled and that says soemthing ! It freaking awesome so don’t “the corn people” stray you away from this goddess of a scent! Maybe they say that so we won’t all buy up whatever is left on the internet and they can have it to themselves lol

Ôdorat

If anyone is interested in samples of this gem, I offer some in my Etsy store. Feel free to PM me!

Hate and Scorn for Corn. Never in my life did I have such a LOVE/HATE relationship with a fragrance. I first HATED the "baked corn" note BUT the whipped creme note in here is The God of All Whipped Creme Notes ! LOL. So I got a great deal on a used bottle on eBay ($40.00 !! 75% full) and used it for a year . I let the "corn note" bother me too much - so I sold it -- for what I had paid. LOL . However NOW that's it discontinued - I WANT IT BACK . If for no other reason- to tuck it away as a "library fragrance" . Like Poison and Passion, not really a good wear on me (or anyone around me) . But to just give it a bi-yearly "sniff" from the nozzle to remind me . Oh well...... (NOTE: The "corn note" is pretty much the chestnut FIGHTING with the cypress and the patchouli - if ya want my opinion. Cypress can be a real BITCH in fragrances that are NOT designed as brutalist "greens" for older gentlemen scents) .

I smell ylang ylang in this… maybe it is the tuberose mixed with the sweet notes but i could swear it is yellow floral. The creaminess is very much out there but it is kinda spiced and that makes me detect the slight dirtiness of ylang. I love this scent and it is a much more balanced one than franck boclet’s cocaine. That one leans towards a synthetic smell but this one is very… organic. The word “soleil” is very apt because it does lean towards a summer scent like terracotta, and the yellowness implied in soleil made me believe it has ylang. Much better performance than soleil blanc. 8.5/10

RottigrlNYC

I had a large bottle of this perfume and never wore it so I sold it. Then I missed it and decided to buy a small 30ml that I found for a great price. It’s enough, I don’t wear it much. Maybe twice a year. It’s weird and there’s a crazy loud synthetic note in there that’s just annoying to my nose. And VERY strong. Ppl will smell u from another room. The dry down is what saves this perfume, it’s very nice, tuberose dominant so if u hate tuberose, stay far away. This one is a tuberose monster and there’s this gosh awful note or ingredient that is fighting with the tuberose for dominance. Of course the tuberose wins but not til much later.
I’m glad I have my lil bottle, but if I ever do finish it, I’m not repurchasing it again . This one is a 4/10 for me.

Scentillusion

This perfume is love of my life.

stillalive

This is the closest thing I have to a signature scent! I bought a small bottle as a huge splurge on my teacher salary and I wore it every day while I was teaching. I'm down to about a half an inch at the bottom, and I'm devastated it's discontinued. I've never gotten the weird corn tortilla smell, but there's definitely a neutral grain-like smell that's just slightly sweet, so maybe that's what people mean?

It starts out with a strong plastic barbie doll kind of smell, but quickly dries down to a gorgeous creamy, nutty, vanilla-milk floral. It's not really a sweet perfume, but it's a soft and velvety lactonic floral. It dries down to a soft, papery, nose-tingling musk that reminds me way more of old books than Whispers in the Library does. It reminds me of a lightly sweetened white hot chocolate. Sillage is medium, and longevity always surprises me—I'll smell this one for at least a day or a day and a half! I wear this one year-round in Central Florida, though I typically wear it more at night during the summer.

I've got an Oil Perfumery dupe on the way to me. The closest scents I've found so far are Ellis Brooklyn Vanilla Milk, with Aerin Hibiscus Palm in second place. Vanilla Milk isn't as nice and nuanced as Orchid Soleil, but it captures that super unique dry milky vanilla note. Hibiscus Palm is a little sweeter and more tropical, but it's balanced by a vaguely driftwood note to keep it from being overly saccharine, and that woody note comes out more as it dries down. For a chocolatey and cold-weather take on this milky, nose-tickling-dusty, old-book luxuriation, I adore The Body Shop Black Musk. Black Musk is lacking that lactonic note. It reminds me of leather book covers while Orchid Soleil is the dusty pages inside them.

I pair this one with Far Away deodorant and find they layer nicely. Still looking for for the perfect dupe, though! Vanilla Milk with a little floral pink pepper and chestnut would be perfect.

Tee

creamy, fluffy vanilla Chantilly with whiff of tuberose and white tropical florals.

this one actually grew on me. I liked the concept, I got it pretty much blindly, and i liked it. tend to reach this pretty bottle on hot humid days.

and this one, is compliment getter. especially if you like milk or cream based drinks, this one is very pleasant.

Scissorslizardspock

Orchid Soleil is a tuberose fragrance with loads of whipped cream and toasted hazelnuts sprinkled on top. I really enjoy this. It wears well, projects a bit (but not too much), lasts all day, and smells like summer even in the dead of winter. I love the art deco bottle in rose gold. Orchid Soleil blends into my skin and takes on a different personality than on paper, stays both linear and interesting for me. I also love to layer it with other TF fragrances.

Amouage’s Love Tuberose is similar, but Love is sweeter with much less lasting power.

Guerlain Terracotta is more about the frangipani and other florals, although I can see a vague similarity. I’d wear Terracotta for the same occasion I’d wear Orchid Soleil.

Carnal Flower is different with its crisp green bite and almost mentholated nose tingle. Carnal flower is sexy and sultry, whereas Orchid Soleil feels more elegant.

If you enjoy tuberose, then Orchid Soleil is worth checking out. It’s sadly discontinued but can still be found here and there.

Maya lilac

This was the best Tom Ford fragrance launched in the regular line in my opinion!

Strong, complex and long lasting, gorgeous, intoxicating scent of white flowers, pink pepper, vanilla, chestnut, whipped cream and patchouli.

I never got or understood how some people got “tortillas chips” vibes from this summer floral scent.

Another one of a kind fragrance that was sadly discontinued. But totally worth finding!

Hibiscus Palm and Terracotta are beautiful in their own ways, but they are different from Orchid Soleil.

A have a back up bottle that I just opened and I was reminded automatically how stunning and unique Orchid Soleil is!

Please bring it back TF!

I have had such a long journey with this perfume. The first time I tried it, I fell in love immediately. Swooned over the bottle, and then swooned again when I got my first whiff. I remember thinking it smelled like sunshine in a bottle. Couldn't get enough of it. Then, I went through a long period of time where I couldn't stand it at all (I thought it smelled like an offensive cinnamon-heavy root beer). Now, many years later, I've come back around, and I like it again! What a roller coaster. I'm so glad I hung onto my bottle all these years, especially since it's been discontinued.

I think it's one you just have to try for yourself, because it performs so differently from person to person.

On my skin, the opening smells strongly of cypress, but then dries down to a creamy vanilla tuberose. I also get a teensy bit of the chestnut note. I love when it randomly wafts up throughout the day. It's such a lovely summer scent ☀️

It’s giving forgotten bag of corn tortilla chips in the back of the pantry that was left open and the chips are caked in dust.

(USD 60, A78 (July 2018 batch), 70 ml. left)

TomFord Orchid Soleil, joining the lunch of TomFord "Soleil" line as one and only "Soleil" from Signature line (a.k.a. their Typical designer line), It is disappear shortly, leaving "Soleil" line in higher status as Private Blends. DNA of Soleil line can simply describe as "White Flower with Creamy Beachy vibe" and most release stay true to it DNA.

I believe Orchid Soleil is an attempt to make Summer version of their release
"Black Orchid" however the scent leave me sort of neutral and a bit disappointing.
Like their didn't make it full interpretation what it should be or the DNA of both
just mismatch and should be joint from the beginning.

The scent blast you with Chestnut and Whipping cream accord prominently
since the starts and I do get the "Processed Corn" snack vibe from it.
I believe it is the Nutty smell from Chestnut and Milkiness from Processed Whipping cream merge together, resulting in "Processed Corn" and it have both Nutty/Milky aspect.

You have to get pass first 30-45 minutes of period when the fragrance rewards you with Milky Jasmine and Tuberose emerge, it is not indolic but it is make the scent charming in white flower gourmand kind of way.

After 2-3 hours mark. the scent starts to become loose and white flower / whipping-chest nut accord start to become loosely interpretation of sweeten White-flower gourmand, corn accord returns from time to time.

I won't say, it is totally unimpressed but from the interpretation of Black Orchid. this is just below the set standard. And that post 45 mins mark is lovely but the scent soon loose it charm shortly after wear, so you have enjoyable aspect too little to exchange for first 30-45 minutes of Corn accord and scent fade shortly at 4-5 hours mark.

While really brother when we are now in era of White flower + Vanilla DNA that you have so many to choose from? I would Leave this as fail attempt capitalize the
TomFord "Orchid" line fan or a trial to make "White Orchid". but I believe that name won't sell because it is a bit old seems to be release target older women.
The word "Soleil" adding feels just right to make this fragrance sell.

== FINAL SCORE==
Score 6/10
(The mid of strong White flower is 7/10 for me, corn accord bring the overall down)
Classification : Feminine (Homme 15%, Feminine 85%)
Projection : Strong in 2 hours become closer-moderate but never skinscent.
Longevity : 6 hours average

After reading the comments was really doubting to buy it or not. But I took a risk and got it… immediately sprayed it on my wrist and the magic 🪄 happened!!!!! 🤤🥰❤️ White florals! Smell truffle too! Amazing! Such a masterpiece!!!!! 😍😱😍 as a lover of TF Black Orchid, this one strikes too!!!!!! Patchouli gives some weight to this odor and I love it! On my skin it settles nicely, with no mexican food or suntan lotion hints… I’m not detecting any coconut or whipped cream, or nuts… totally love it! For me it is similar to TF BO, but more summery, because of a lovely white florals! In love indeed with this!!!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🪄🤍🫧 in my opinion this TF OS is totally for women!
This goes to my top 🔝 5!

MoctezumaC

I bought this on my return trip from South Africa at a duty free shop in Johannesburg in 2020. I only got this because I had some left over money I didn't want to bring back or exchange....it was enough to buy this fragrance along with some gum and a bottle of water before boarding my flight.

I am so glad I made this last minute purchase. It definitely reminded me of a Summer vacation. I already owned Black Orchid EDP and when I sprayed it I was surprised it smelled completely different. I don't get any of the "tortilla" vibes everyone is talking about and GIRLLLL let me tell you.....I AM MEXICAN AND I KNOW WHAT TORTILLAS SMELL LIKE!!!

I had not discovered Solei Blanc yet....I don't even know if it was out by then. But I feel Orchid Soleil was out way before Solei Blanc. So I can see how Orchid Solei could have been an early attempt to creating this type of Summer vacation vibe.

All in all I love this fragrance and I finished it way before my Black Orchid bottle (which I still have some left...I bought that bottle in 2018). I am sad this is out of commission now and wish I would have repurchased. But when I had it in my fragrance collection I enjoyed it to the fullest!

Hi there! I have a 40-45/100ml bottle of this gem for sale (NO box). shipping from Athens Greece. PM if interested!

sevde.kasa

In my opinion, it is a very creamy/milky scent, so that it leans feminine side...
It smells mostly tuberose and whipped cream to my nose and it reminds me summer vacation, nevertheless it is suitable for all kinds of seasons, summer, winter, day or night🤗 Absolutely overly sweet. It is a gourmand scent, but there are some who say that it smells like tacos, it can be a bit challenging due to the corn feeling and pink pepper note at the opening, which I agree with this comment from time to time. A true "love it or hate it" scent. Luckily I'm on the lover side😃
Note: Unfortunately, now this is a discontinued gem 🥀

Oldaya

Somehow I smell coconut♡
Super unique, perfect for summertime.

OlfactoryAmbiance

Lily... lots of lily. On my skin the lily dominates everything else. I get almost none of the other notes until very late in the day. It does remind me of a flower garden in the summer heat... the air is thick with lilies, orchids and a faint hit of patchouli make it a little spicy.

lmnsvgz

This is definitely a suntan lotion type of scent - sweet, smooth, creamy, but without the typical coconut. I don't understand why it's so hated as it is definitely comparable to other smooth white floral scents. One of their best imo, I don't get why it got discontinued. Better than Soleil Blanc 100%

Vanillastorm40

I recently tested Chanel Sycomore and there's something about Orchid Soleil that reminds me of Sycomore. Must be the cypress note in both. OS is like a feminine, sweet, nutty, creamy and tuberose-y Sycomore. I think they'd smell amazing layered actually. I really love OS and will definitely be finding a 100 ML.

plasmichoneytrip

If I had to choose my favorite designer fragrance, it would be this one. I bought this over 4 years ago, have collected over 25 designer and niche fragrances but I always go back to this. This is a siren of a fragrance so i would lightly spray this (2 sprays are enough). The first time i sprayed this, i was so in love. I still love it to this day. Some have compared this to Carnal Flower and would still choose Orchid Soleil if I only had to choose one over the other only because this is so potent but yet has that creamy and comforting tone to it.

mariamarouli91

This is by far my favorite Tom Ford scent of all time. Very special to me. An intoxicating creamy sweet white floral, it smells like a realistic gardenia to me. The cypress in the opening is very strong but it fades down quickly. Super distinctive, that's a pity that it got discontinued. I wear it only at night, it blooms magically. That works well all year round, especially at night.

Pure Morning

My favorite fragrance. Long lasting, a little bit spicy, a little bit sexy, a little bit elegant. I am so sad that it is discontinued :(

churinl

I just received this today. It was a blind buy. I probably should wait a week or so to let it settle before I write a complete review but I will add if necessary. First of all, much to my relief, I am not getting any of the tortilla note so many have mentioned. What I am getting right off the type is a somewhat mentholated tuberose similar to the tuberose in Rogue Perfumery's Champs Lunaires and Tubereuse Criminelle. It's not too green, but not bubblegumish either. It's lovely, but it's an aspect of tuberose not everyone may like. Though I'm not usually a fan of the sweet stuff, the whipped cream provides a nice counterbalance to the tubereuse. I don't detect a lot of chestnut, but again, it may just need time to rest.
I really love the lily in this! It provides a bit of spice and goes so well with the tuberose. I never used to be a big fan of lily, but that has changed quite a lot over the last year or two. The combo of the two is what I enjoy most about this scent.
Believe it or not, I have never so much as sampled Black Orchid! I do own Velvet Orchid, but don't find them similar at all, so the Black Orchid DNA others mention is lost on me. Those who point out that this grows even more beautiful as it dries down are correct in my opinion.
So far longevity and silage/projection are decent, buy I'm having some "nose fatigue" lately, and again, they may improve over time.
Right now this is a strong Like bordering on Love. I will need to wear it more before it makes that leap. I only purchased a 1 oz bottle since I found it at a decent price and because it was a blind buy. I'm not certain how many people would be willing to take that risk and for that reason I recommend you try before you buy.

EDIT 12/24/22 - after settling for a few days, I tried it again. Everything I mentioned still stands and I have fallen in love with it because it smells so much more cohesive now. One big change is that I now detect that corn tortilla smell others are getting. Luckily, I don't find it jarring or out of place. It just makes it distinct from the many white flowers I already own. I need a bigger bottle!
EDIT - 12/29/2022 - Okay. Now that it has really had time to settle, I get that big, honkin' tortilla smell right off the bat, so much so that it's all I get for the first five minutes until the tuberose starts to peek through. It's mind-boggling to me that a perfume with such a potent amount of tuberose can be dominated by some odd accord at first. I know how this ends up, and the tortilla is receding even more as I type, but it really is 180° from when I first tried it! I don't think I've ever owned a perfume to change so dramatically simply by resting for a week. Back down to a Like, but only because it is so jarring at first.

Hazel1234

A white floral oriental suited for cold weather.

Tuberose plus marshmellow paired with the chestnut notes feels well-suited to the cold winter weather. I get equal parts of those three key notes: one note does not dominate the others. There is a cuddly vibe happening here. Tom Ford created a winter tuberose; this feels right sitting around the fireplace. I see so much chatter about this being ideal in summer months, which I know tuberose tends to be best for. Definitely try this in the cold weather as well!

I'll test this in the summer but there aren't even airy, fresh notes to make me think I'll crave it during hot humid days.

In regard to performance, this scent does not project nearly as much as others from this line. I also own Velvet Orchid and Black Orchid Parfum. 3 sprays feels muted in comparison. That being said, I inherited a well-used bottle so that could be the age of the bottle talking. I also tested this on a blotter, 3 sprays again. It does not project far; maybe 2-3 feet, which is fine by me.

I'm definitely enjoying the scent though.

Pez_Enelrio

I like this one but despite the various notes it is pretty one sided. This is an orchid-tuberose bomb. I feel like it could use some more freshness or citruses in the top so i layer it with cologne type of scents usually, but i think any kind of layering could work based on your taste. It could be turned into something dark too with some more vanilla and oud

leannelovie

This is the scent that always feels like returning to myself

The opening reminds me of opening a fresh box of shoes. I'm the only one I've heard say they get leather, but I swear I do. Lots get the rubber and that is there too

After that is creamy tuberose and vanilla bliss that lasts wonderfully

neonaya

I love lily scent, but most of time lily in perfumes sounds like air freshener. This perfume also sounds like room scent if you spray too much. In low doses it is pleasant lily-vanilla-cream scent, comfortable and close to skin. But if you spray more than three times this scent start to fulfill everything around you and since it is doesn't change with time you have a feeling that it starts to annoy not only you, but also everyone around. 5ml decant for good mood and accurate use is more than enough.

likesleet

floral roasted nuts & tuberose. cotton.

PradaGodFatha

Trey songz wears this for good reason. Drydown smells like YUMMY SEXY vanilla cake batter-definitely unisex. The opening smells like fresh white and pink creamy florals that slowly transition into sexy cake batter

RottigrlNYC

I tried to like this one, but it smells of a very fake orchid. I have orchids in my garden and they don’t smell like this. I guess they tried. Not a fan of this overly synthetic perfume. The dry down is nicer, but still not worth the price. I’m glad I only bought a 30ml. It’s enough.
Edit:
A customer bought a bottle of Oud Satin Mood extrait from my store and I added this bottle as a free gift. Finally got rid of it . She likes it. So I’m glad it went to a good home.

brand117

Creamy tortilla chips- this is mainly what I get. Don't get me wrong- I like it, but it is odd. Pretty, but odd. Be careful of the vanilla in it aging and staining your clothes pink/red.

I was being trash and haaaad to get a sample of this because I love the bottle and just needed to smell this. Its nice, I know they aren't identical but it reminded me of Kayali Dejavu white flower. A pretty sweet and creamy floral. If I could find a decent priced bottle I'd probably get it but I definitely want to do a side by side companion of this to the kayali.

strongerwithglue

Reminds me of cough syrup. Sweet nutty tuberose. I am not a fan.

OneILove

Chestnut 🌰 and corn 🌽 smell. But when they’re gone yes white floral and warm. I don’t think it’s just for summer. It’s a heavy scent. It has chestnut that’s so winter.

xpetra82

If you miss this buy Cocaïne Franck Boclet... Is the exact same juice... Even the dark red staining color is the same.

kiarayah

This was the most special perfume I’ve ever had. It’s classy, elegant, and sexy. I would have never bought it based off the notes, but the combination is amazing. My boyfriend said this was his favorite and that it smelled like lean. I found it to be a very complex floral unlike any other. Like an incredibly expensive bouquet dipped in gold. It’s the type of scent that makes you feel instantly put together and boosts your confidence. I really wish it wasn’t discontinued

Edemay

If anyone is looking to swap or sell their bottle please msg me 🙏🏼

EnkiiH

I love it, very sensual, fresh and feminine. It's ideal for summer.

Xtina19

I really don’t care about those bad reviews here. I love this and I find it quite unlike anything else. It’s a shame TF discontinued this one which was a great summer scent, unique and unusual and left that boring overpriced Soleil Blanc which is twice as much in price and doesn’t have half of OS longevity or sillage.

I honestly find some of the reviews here horrendous….please believe me there’s no curry, no tamales, no corn tortilla chips smell in there.
I’ve been put off in the past by the reviews people left in here and I missed the opportunity to purchase a certain scent only to came across it and loved it because it wasn’t at all as described.

This definitely has the TF DNA that his signature line has. When you first spray it , you’re instantly hit by that Black Orchid opening note, but only for two seconds until it starts to develop. You can definitely smell the cypress, then the white flowers ( lily and tuberose) take over.

The dry down is gorgeous, smokey chestnuts but slightly smoked, more nutty, vanilla and something milky but not really the whipped cream …it’s more like a raw merengue, yes like whipped egg whites with sugar just before you bake a pavlova, and just a hint of patchouli. In my opinion patchouli takes a second place, in the back.

I really wish that TF would kept this one along with White Patchouli and Violet Blonde, all really unique fragrances in his signature line.

SilkyWoods

So good. I find the opening a bit sharp and unbalanced, but the dry down is magical. So chique yet youthful at the same time. Luxurious, sunny. A bit more interesting than Soleil Blanc imo.

Ada Sokolovic

Why is this one discontinued? Franck Boclet Cocaine is very similar but colder scent than this one, this one has that creamy and warm feeling. Boclet is more jasmine than the Orchid soleil. I need a proper replacement for this gold 😭😭😭😭😭❤️🙌

Shushanik

Underrated! I have this fragrance for almost 5 years. Went through 2 bottles. It’s perfect for layering. It’s thick, and creamy. Has an amazing projection. Leaves sexy trail. What else can you ask for…

ParisLoveXo

Ok so ordered a sample . To me this is a cross between Prada La Femme and Classique by JPG. And I hate both of those lol .. it’s not a bad scent but it’s just not for me .

tunya

I only had a decant from a friend, but boy, this is a powerhouse, so a sample is enough to make one's mind.

I really wanted to like it, you know, it's Tom Ford, everyone always raves about his fragrances. I also wanted to like it because the decant came from a very good friend and we have share some perfume favourites.

Sadly, to me, it's just smells like a mix of something very sweet and a multivitamin drink. Throughout the day, I was mostly getting the multivitamins.
It has a slight smell of an old school face cream, something that maybe you grandmother used back in the day, it'll sound very random - but it reminds me of a generic "ceramide cream".
I think it's just too many sweet notes crammed in and not balanced out by something that would cut through the sweetness or add extra depth.
Some days, it even smells like urine of a sickly, unwell person, the kind of faint hospital/care home smell of pee.

The name reminds me of Guerlain's Lys Soleia, but this is nothing like LS - which is warm but bright.

Maybe I don't like lactonic notes, or at least how they're blended in here.

Shimo Zaza

Don't judge it from the initial sniff, just wait for the good stuff at the dry down 😉

2whit2quit

Omgg it does smell like corn tortillas!!! 😍 Good thing it’s Taco Tuesday! 😉

I’ve been on a serious tuberose kick lately and cannot seem to get enough. I just received my bottle in the mail and am trying it for the first time. Complete blind buy. Bold, I know. I hope the lily in this settles a bit because they are currently fighting my dearest tuberose to be the star of the show. That’s fine, for now. Upon first spray, I smell something like eggnog mixed with a scent memory I can’t quite place. Once I remember, I will report back. I’m enjoying this very much so far and look forward to trying this throughout all seasons.

Update 01.03.23: Ok... Eggnog it's not, but I do love this fragrance for cold weather. It's appropriate in the same way that eggnog feels appropriate during the holidays. It's a warm and creamy hug. The camphorous aspect of the tuberose...my goodness, its intoxicating. SL Tubereuse Criminelle has the similar immediate camphor feel but quickly heads in a different direction. I love this fragrance. It smells like nothing else I own, and I have many tuberose-based frags. The juice in my bottle is starting to turn a dark sort of red so I need to be careful where I spray.

Zethre

Sharply medicinal top note, slowly fades into rich flowers but with a postage stamp overtone. Headache inducing lilies, creamy hints of tuberose. Big sillage.
Not bad, but I've smelt better tuberose perfumes, Truth or Dare if you're looking for warm and slightly sweet, Carnal Flower if you want elegant and sensual.

simetra23

I regret not having bought this fragrance the first time I came across it, which was at a Tom Ford counter. I think when Orchid Soleil was launched in Athens, Greece, it was late spring. I immediately liked the fragrance since it reminded me of gardenias, which I love, but at that time of year I could not imagine myself wearing that scent rather than smell this fragrance on someone else. Well, now it is winter and I got a 100ml bottle as a gift. I must say, now it is a completely different experience! The scent of tuberose is not overwhelming, instead it gives a foretaste of the spring to come, the drydown is just a creamy dream, while the "Orchid" DNA is lurking through, which I adore. I'm so happy I got this!

BlueSand

I grew to love this scent. I have it since it’s launch, and it was one of my go to night scents. I then started to use it during the day, but I live in a hot climate, and can be overpowering especially the opening. Contrary to what others say about this in the heat, I actually like it better in hot/dry or windy/cool weather, not humid/tropical. On my skin, sweat and this do not work. The dry down is absolutely lovely, creamy, soft, musky, floral and one of the most unique scents ever. I have received many compliments especially from men wearing this. Lasts all night and day. Currently, after adding more perfumes to my collection, i mix it with Love Tuberose by Amouage, to soften the peppery openness. Otherwise this is also bomb with linear vanilla scents!

lordbig

Someone referenced curry and I can see that. It is a balance of opposites much like the philosophy behind many Indian dishes. It is green yet creamy. Salty yet sweet. Warm yet fresh. Loud yet soft. Edgy yet pretty.

Opens with creamy, balsamy, bitter flowers.

About two in add salty chestnuts, and the fresh corn tortillas people have mentioned (in a good way)

In the drydown it gets creamier, less salty, and I get the barest hint of the most beautiful oakmoss.

This stuff lasts all day and even longer on my clothes.

xoxoMyke

A beautiful tuberose knockout. The drydown does have an unexpected nuance of "tortillas" but I only detect this slightly.

I honestly feel this should have been a tad sweeter with the "whipped cream note."

I do see similarities to Fracas and Madonna's Truth or Dare. Those have a stronger "warm spicy" accord than Orchid Soliel, in my opinion.

Man_HK

Am I the only one feel this is like Tubereuse nue from TF? But I love it. I swore to myself, no buy before I tried out all 100+ testers at home. But still, I bought it. This is my blind buy, I love Tubereuse nue but think its too expensive. Being attracted to the bottle of this, read the comment and I just placed order online given it is discontinued. No regret on buying 100ml. Worth every penny.

Kiki kollia

Expensive perfume expensive smell it first I was going to buy black orchid but it wasn’t smelling as beautiful as I ve smelled to a friend so the girl at the fragrance store recommended me this treasure as a similar version of black orchid. It’s amazing, my go to for the club or a dinner. it’s expensive though and I’m really careful so it lasts me longer. You smell like sweet red pepper expensive flower. Highly recommend!!!

Ruby Galore

My precious!
I bought 100 ml, I still have about 80 ml, whenever I apply it, I look at how much treasure I have left.

Juspaigeme

In the opening I get a lot of the tuberose, red lily and pink pepper but the magic happens when it dries down and it smells somewhat like a luxurious sun-tan lotion. It’s creamy, nutty and floral. To me this could be a “your skin but better” scent because it has a saltiness from the chestnut that mixes beautifully with the whipped cream and vanilla that makes it like a second skin and it smells absolutely gorgeous! This is not a safe blind buy!!!!!

ambibc

Wish this wasn't discontinued - It is my favorite summer scent. The nuttiness from the chestnut comes through on my skin and the creaminess from the whipped cream is so, so lovely. Most summer scents leave something to be desired for me, but this, this has it all. I love the spicy opening. After an hour or so it mellows into a nutty vibe that layers so good with Hawaiian tropic sunscreen.

Flowerful

Despite it being a bold tuberose., this fragrance has persistent Indian curry vibes. The opening is very strong and rich that it can easily become intimidating to many! It's a bold statement kind of a fragrance. You are definitely not soft wearing this. It's unapologetic and arrogant. It's like it's telling you to your face that you either take it or leave it. Its not trying to lure you. You either love it or detest it. It reminds me of Xerjoff muse... But I better prefer the xerjoff one which is rounder and with a flowery twist. The strong curry note in orchid soleil something else! I want to hate it but I don't know!

samantham-123

Aww yeeaaah
The perfume gods were listening this week when i out it out to the universe for the hopes to find a bottle of this that i could actually afford lol. I've missed this one So much since i ran out athe beginning of this year, summers comin here in Australia and I absolutely love this on a scorching hot day. Dont let its bombastic vanilla tuberose fool you into thinking this is a cold weather scent, in the heat it opens up in a whole other magical way

K218

Solar beast! I could smell it through the box it got delivered in (which had other fragrances in it). For a while there I couldn't tell if it was the courier guy who smelled so good or if the bottle had gotten broken along the way. Smells like the sun came into your house after lying by the pool eating peaches and cream.

hayley48

I am devastated that this has been discontinued. It’s my favourite perfume of all time and I am always complimented when wearing this - I do not get this with any other perfume.
Is anyone able to recommend anything that smells the same or is remotely similar?
No other perfume has quite the same take on me!

pinkstate

All I get is chestnut, cypress, tuberose with a hint of vanilla. Just ok!

Themonkboughtlunch

I love it but it smells like buttered popcorn or tortilla chips

MissIvy

I could never get in to this one and it broke my heart. I just could never get past the distinct Tortilla Chip note. Everything else was lovely and the bottle is gorgeous. I love the smell of Mexican food in my kitchen and at my table, and most definitely NOT in my perfume. I thought maybe I was crazy until I heard a girl at Sephora one time say she thought it smelled like taco chips. So it isn't just me!!

LaMuñeca

This was so unique, too bad it is discontinued. I wonder if Tom Ford is going to come out with something new with this vibe, maybe a new Orchid flanker?
This was the only sun screen scent that doesn't smell cheap and generic to me.

RainbowGirl

I had to order this fragrance after nathan_jamesj's amazing review. I needed to get this before it disappeared forever! It arrived today, and I am not disappointed. (Thank you, Mr. J!)

I was actually excited for the cypress opening, and it WAS medicinal (to me it smells almost menthol) and I loved it! It lasted all of 10 seconds. I love the smell of fresh green cypress. To me, it was a beautiful opening, that faded way too quickly, but there is still a hint of the cypress freshness in the fragrance when it settles.

I do not get corn... yet. Or anything that smells like burnt corn, or burnt rubber. I keep searching for corn, because I do NOT want to smell like corn. That would be a deal breaker.

I may not be from California, but we have something around these parts called "TexMex." It requires a lot of corn tortillas, sometimes fresh, sometimes... not so fresh, so I am familiar with what corn tortillas smell like. I am relieved that I have a nose that doesn't seem to pick up on that unlisted note. But there is still time.

What I do smell is a beautiful tuberose....with something I have not smelled before. I think it is chestnuts? Smells almost nutty. Tuberose, a hint of cypress, and a hint of maybe chestnut.

I do smell that suntan lotion scent occassionally in my scent aura. Not the suntan oil that fries your skin, the white suntan lotion with SPF. I do not smell it nose to skin, but I do catch it occassionaly as I move around.

As I was cleaning the house, I could occassionally smell something sweet around me, a little floral fresh, and on one occassion, I swear I smelled the original, but when I smelled my arm, nose to skin... it was gone. *POOF*

In fact, most of the skin scent was gone. I can still smell it in my hair, but it is already very light on my skin, so it seems I missed most of the amazing dry down everyone mentioned in the reviews. I still have a hint of a scent aura, and it smells sweet fresh tuberose.

I am a little disappointed there was not more of the original BO hidden in here, and I am sad to report this did not last very long on me, and it wasn't as strong as I would like. I would need to spray this all over, and spray it often. So although I like the scent... it is not a love for me. I will use the bottle I purchased, but even if this was not discontinued, I would not repurchase.

Orchid Soliel was super fun to review, it is a unique summery tuberose fragrance, and I am about to go spray this all over me again, so obviously I enjoyed it. 😉

Nathan__jamesj

Orchid Soleil opens on the skin with a burst of indolic tuberose with a slight medicinal vibe reminiscent to that of Serge Lutens Tubereuse Criminelle. The opening of Orchid Soleil is noticeably ‘cool’, coloured by bitter orange, cypress and pink pepper. Like Tubereuse Criminelle, the magic of Orchid Soleil is in the dry-down as the fragrance sheds it medicinal coolness in favour of a warm, creamy tuberose on a base of vanilla, orchid and chestnut. The overall experience of Orchid Soleil is vibrant, radiant and sensual. Orchid Soleil perfectly captures Tom Ford’s flair for eroticism. The indolic fleshy tuberose balanced by a sweet and salty creaminess, evoking lustful images of salt on skin, and suntan lotion that I cannot get enough of 🙌🏻

Launched in 2016 as the summer counterpart to Black Orchid, Orchid Soleil has sadly been discontinued (devastated!) But, the fragrance is still quite easy to find online so if you are a fan of anything tuberose I recommend picking up a bottle before it’s gone forever, as trust me you do not want to miss out on this one. Simply, Orchid Soleil is completely and utterly addictive.

Orchid Soleil shines in 𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿. Think tropical summer vacations 🌴 and in the right setting the fragrance is entirely 𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗲𝘅

In terms of 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲, Orchid Soleil lasts all day on my skin, and even longer on clothes with an initial heavy sillage dropping to moderate after the first few hours.

mendalia

Wow, I guess this one is super chemistry influenced. This smells like flowers, sun and whipped cream on me. My only complaint is that I wish it lasted longer. It is absolutely beautiful. I am not a huge fan of tom Fords Orchid line, in fact this is the only one that worked on me at all. I love it!

adelaidesandrina

my previous tom ford purchases were all a fail, i don’t know why his fragrances never work on me. but i was extremely tempted to get this one because of what mila le blanc & other reviews here said.
first off, the bottle is SO PRETTY, super fancy lmao.
secondly, when i sprayed this on my wrists.. i was repulsed. i agree that this smells like mothballs and tortillas with added cough syrup.
i was so tempted to scrub it off, but i wanted to give it another chance since i wouldn’t want to waste a pricey perfume yet again.
after a few minutes, i must admit i’m in love. very nutty, creamy and sweet. must be the whipped cream and chesnut notes chiming in. i also cant seem to smell the florals here. in my opinion i’ll never use this under the sun, it’s too heavy. better suited in the evenings for me

Tee

white, creamy, velvety lilly +tuberose combo. that vanilla and hint of patchouli at the base is a nice yummy finishing touch.

this is like having vanilla flan pudding with a bouquet of tuberoses and lillies

jassca99

Really wish they took advantage of the chestnut and whipped cream notes. Could’ve been an outstanding solar note. That mix is unfortunately nonexistent. This smells like mothballs got thrown into a bouquet of tuberose and a breeze came through carrying the smell of faint sun roasted chestnuts from a far distance. Not for me. A shame because the bottle is beautiful.

PGak

Blind bought a 50mL bottle (6 years old from what the batch code indicates) and I deeply regret my purchase.

…….. I should have pursued looking for a 100mL. Why tf was this discontinued? Very confused about the negative reviews….. because this is STUNNING. This is all glistening sex drenched skin on a hot steamy night at the beach. Sand, sweat and sex.

Air.astarte

This is my third review of this perfume. I love coming back to read new comments. The personal interpretations of this fragrance vary greatly from one person to the next. Some are disgusted. Some start that way and end up obsessed (me). Others are in love immediately. I've sprayed it on other's skin and the tortilla, and even mothball, notes dominate. On others, like myself, it smells like if young summer lust in the flesh had a natural odor. This perfume is so fascinating and unique. I'm starting to believe I will never find any other scent that makes me feel this way after years of sniffing every liquid (and plant, flower, fruit, or human I can get my nose on). It smells like opium - not the perfume but actual opium, and it's just as addictive if you're skin melds with it just right. P.S. I have found a $10 dupe. An oil I purchased from a small business on Amazon, called Sun Orchid. It was around $10 and is a literal dupe.

adamh9201

I thought because I liked velvet orchid so much I would love this. I was wrong. This smells sour and is very headache inducing. Tom Ford is one of my favorites houses so this was dissatisfying

Gi.carrineee

Horrible. Straight gasoline in the opening which seems to last FOREVER by the way. Also major tortilla smell while it’s drying down. To any of the reviewers saying this is a creamy coconut beach scent…can I have what you’re having? Because I literally scrubbed this scent off only 30 mins after wearing it. I hate to write such a negative review but it was really so unpleasant and NOT a safe blind but. Do not do it lol.

tinadee

Orchid Soleil reminds me a bit of CD Pure Poison, but the tuberose and orchid notes are much stronger. It's a quality fragrance, well blended and a little goes a long way. I'm not crazy about the heady floral notes...they are a little overwhelming for me. However, I think tuberose lovers will be very pleased with this fragrance.

hollymichaelm

I slept on this fragrance for years. As a lover of Black and Velvet Orchid, I would always smell this in store and be immediately turned off by it's medicinal opening.. but if you allow it to air/ dry for ten minutes you will find the best fragrance in the Orchid line.

This could easily be called Orchid Gourmand, because the dry down is an incredible, nutty, creamy edible tuberose. Delicious. Tuberose is the elegant star of the show here, but the gourmand notes encase her in luxury. This manages to smell expensive and refined, yet gourmand (something I don't often find with gourmands). A true favourite - I panic bought a 100ml back up of this fragrance as it appears to be discontinued. Mila le Blanc said it best, this makes you smell like a goddess!

lzak

Very much of a beast. In me it’s tuberose and orchid, competing. I would wear it anytime, but I would be very judicious about spraying it. Less is more, because it’s so strong. Believe it’s discontinued, so snag it while you can.

Ruby Galore

Postcard from my childhood: Summer, it's my birthday, I'm 6 years old, they set me up for photography (how it bothered me!)
I am sitting in the garden at a table, behind me a huge cypress. In front of me is a cake with walnuts and whipped cream and a huge bouquet of lilies. Lilies bloom in June.
That perfume is these scents from my memory.

I bought 100 ml this morning, it's my birthday soon;)

Ruby Galore

Lilies stuffed with chestnut puree with whipped cream.
A beautiful feminine fragrance. Powerful, like all Ford orchids.

PradaGodFatha

The drydown smells so sexy and yummy- smells like duff goldmans camouflage cake mix(I believe it's vanilla flavor.) The opening is very floral and polarizing. I don't mind the opening because the drydown smells so yummy. Trey songz wears orchid soleil layered with black orchid so a man can definitely wear this

helwood

I tested it quickly on paper in perfumery with others and I did not like it at all, I went my way but I tried again shortly after in a perfumery in Saint Tropez, I do not know why the bottle attracts me so much. This time I had kept the paper in my bag.
1st impression: it smells like cough syrup.
I forgot it in my bag and in the evening I made it smell to my ex, he told me it smells good it smells like cake.
I sniffed myself too and wouhaou there ... indeed a sort of vanilla pastry, I couldn't stop smelling it, it's so sweet, so creamy, so different, I ordered my bottle the next day and received it return from holidays and there I became obsessed with him, and by looking on the tom ford website I saw that he was no longer sold, we all know here on fragrantica what that means.
I quickly bought a large bottle before I couldn't find it anywhere ...
This perfume has a very pharmaceutical smell at first but over the hours it becomes so beautiful, sweet, creamy and flowery at the same time, the most beautiful and sensual and complex ever smelled.
For me, it is the smell of paradise.

bintTapputi

Jeez, how preferences change. The first time I tried this, now about 4 or 5 years ago, I really disliked it. In fact, I found it pretty repulsive and I remember thinking how much I hate tuberose. Well smelling a million more perfumes after that has altered my sense of smell and my preferences. I love it. I think it's gorgeous. Creamy, mature, bold, sensual. Now I just need to stop crying that it's discontinued and hunt down a bottle! 8.5/10

Coalita

Very strong and very long lasting. Be careful - it's easy to spray too much. Better not to wear to office. This fragrance can be very offensive and someone can have a headache. If you spry a little - it can work. I think it's better to wear it in spring/autumn. Not in hot weather - it's too heavy.

poohbearwinnie

WARNING: DO NOT SPRAY THIS ON LIGHT COLORED CLOTHES, IT WILL STAIN PINK. This is an extremely complex fragrance, but it's Tom Ford so it's to be expected. I get the corn tortilla vibe in addition to a herbal, medicinal scent first, give it like 5 minutes and then the magic comes out. Beautiful white florals and tuberose with a touch of chestnut, has a similar vibe to Aerin's hibiscus palm but while that is more sweet and coconutty, this one is more bitter and dusty. Tom Ford is that lady in a low cut dress with a smoky eye and stilettos while Aerin is a classy lady in a white linen dress and espadrilles.

Mando

Tamales and Tuberoses.

I love this.

Hollie1998

If you’re in the UK, SImplyBe have a few 100ml bottles on their website at the moment 😍

LaContessina

I rushed to Sephora to buy the last 100ml bottle i could find. 120 Euros (and it was on sale!) for my peace of mind.
I first smelled Orchid Soleil years ago when it came out and I loved it.
I didn't buy it back then because I have tons of tuberose -based or beach scents like Bronze Goddess and i didn't feel compelled to... we are all eager to think that what we love will stay forever but alas that's not the case, especially in fragrances nowadays.

Back to the point: Orchid Soleil is a grand tuberose based fragrance.
But the note is not screechy or sour or migraine inducing like in Fracas or Truth or Dare.
On the contrary it is mellow and soft and sweet and creamy and melts into a delicious whipped cream.
It's a delight. Not a gourmand, not a tropical beachy frag, it evokes summer and sun in a sophisticated way.
A true sun explosion, has the ability of lifting your mood.
You wear this and you can easily pretend to be that slender lady in a one piece designer black bathing suit, lazily sunbathing on the deck of her millionaire boyfriend's yacht.

Gorgeous.

lindenberg

The only Tom Ford fragrance I ever liked. This smelled like dessert - namely chestnut puree and whipped cream. Sad that this has been discontinued.

smilesayj

Ever since someone said this reminds them of corn tortillas or tamales, that's literally all I can smell now when I try this on. I can't even stand it. 🤮

dglightblue

So I'm a couple hours in withthis, and thealmost too rich top and mid have faded.

This is cooler and more dusky, the white floral nut butter richness has dissipated, it wears closer to skin and not so almost sickening.

Its a hot and humid day so ill try this whencooler.
Very nice scent though

dglightblue

Ooh the juice is coloured, don't spray on clothes

This frag is a fat, buttery, dense white floral, witb a roundness and creaminess which borders on too rich.
The blending is on point. The hazelnut isnt nutty but is like nutbutter. Theres a wetness but not aquatic, this behaves airy, yetfeels dense.
Thebpatch is not dirty, and cypress i cant really detect.
Tuberose is reallyrounded and gummy in ots floralness.

Quite an experience. Packs a punch

TrickyPine

A quick review to gain perspective on why it's appealing during different seasons.

Summer: Who would have thought a heavy combination of strong florals would bloom so well during the heat. I live in a dry climate and oftentimes when I pass by a bush of jasmine, orange blossom and frangipani's I'm filled with so much of its aroma. Some flowers are MADE for the heat and fill an area with so much aroma and warmth. Soleil orchid encapsulates this moment. Yes, it's predominantly tuberose and it does have that 'suffocating' blast of a heavy floral. But, later on it definitely develops into a creamy floral. The sharpness to this fragrance is there to add the TF flare/to stand out, but it doesn't carry the fragrance like the combination of the florals and whipped cream notes do. The comparisons between this fragrance and sun-tan lotion is accurate. Mainly because of the combination between the warmth of your skin after baking in the sun and the fragrance in the lotion.

Winter: Not as beautiful and not its moment to be refined. Comes off way more dustier in the cold. The fragrance ends up wearing you as oppose to its appeal in the summer. The tuberose, pink pepper, bitter orange and cypress sort of just sit there.

Cogniaux

Smells exactly (and I mean exactly) like my Neofinetia falcata orchid when it blooms in the summer. Warm whipped cream vanilla. Fantastic for the summer.

samantham-123

Well that's that I'm afraid.
Fell so hard in love with this that I burned through my 30ml bottle over summer, now i wanna replace it but its so damn expensive atm, we all know how it goes; everyone's like " Meh" with a fragrance till they can't buy it anymore and suddenly you have to refinance your house to be able to afford a bottle lol.
I will replace soon but we're coming to the end of summer now and i dont enjoy this in winter anyway.
Best summer scent ever

Joani_Cheddar

I love Velvet Orchid, I like Black Orchid but I do NOT like Orchid Soleil. There is a pungent note that I can not tolerate which is probably my own nose issue. It is strong, sharp and then smells like an ol skool suntan lotion. This was not for me.

Ninaleen

This scent is the closest to a real gardenia that I have found so far. I guess it’s the tuberose but gardenia is one of my favorite flowers to smell in real life, and this smells just like it. Creamy gardenia and green fresh leaves. After a while it dries down to a delicious vanilla/whipped cream. I just found this fragrance thanks to this website, and am beyond sad that it has been discontinued. I found a couple of bottles online and will continue to search for and buy any bottle I can get my hands on!

AurelieGeuz

This smells nothing like the other fragrances from the Orchid line. That being said I do really enjoy this fragrance. For me this smells like a very creamy and rich and sensual tuberose. Florals are not my favourite type of fragrances but I really like this one.
IMO this is suitable for every season but best worn when it’s nice and warm outside. This would make a very nice date fragrance.

Longevity : 10h +
Sillage : 8/10

TaraRachelle

I just scored a 1 oz. bottle of this for $30, so I decided to blind buy it. It was in a physical store, but no tester. It's below zero right now in the dead of a midwestern winter. Upon first spray, I definitely get the popcorn/corn tortilla vibe. But after it dries a bit, more of the orchid comes through. The corn scent does not last on me more than the first 15 minutes or so. I'm not sure I would have labeled it as that on my own, but since I had read the reviews, it came through loud and clear in the beginning. It has a lot of suntan lotion scent to it without being obviously so (like Bronze Goddess, for example). I like it in that the suntan vibe is a little more discreet. I also smell the salty/sweaty skin scent others noticed, which I'm not usually too into, but it's not bad here.

Coming from more of a mainstream fruity floral person...I like this, although I doubt it will be a top favorite, and I didn't run back to buy a backup bottle (like I did with Fleur de Portofino in the same shopping trip). Still, although it's different for me, I'm happy to have it in my collection, glad it's only a 1 oz since I don't think it will be a frequent reach, and I'm looking forward to trying it in warmer weather to see if it blooms a bit better. I tried breathing on my hand lol to warm it up-- it did make it smell different, but not necessarily better or worse. I would wear this in the summer and on specific occasions, but it wouldn't become a signature as it's a bit too carnal for some everyday situations with the sweaty skin scent going on with the beachiness.

Also, longevity is incredible. The spray on the back of my hand from 6 hours ago has survived two hand washings (scrubbing even) and is still going strong as a skin scent. I think projection is decent, too. All I had was the back of my hand sprayed, and 3 hours later, a sales associate from another store commented on how lovely I smelled (only one spray, and the only perfume I had on), and my hand was about 4 feet away from her.

In short, it's very unique, and it's a like, but unless something changes in the summer, not a love.

botany28

My first impression was that of Japanese rice paper, or perhaps a shoji screen. Perhaps a visit to a museum in Japan or even some sort of rice dish. I also understand the corn tortilla comments; however I distinctly get more of a corn husk tamale wrapping aroma. There is definitely some sort of food similarity. As fun as it is for me to try and unpack this fragrance, it is not something I'd wear.

oceandreamer

One of my all time favorites, I was so shocked to hear that it has been discontinued. I wonder why? I have purchased so many back ups of this (8 and counting).

Strangely, this is a masterpiece to me. So many notes all perfectly blended into a beautiful feminine magical scent. My favorite mornings are the mornings where I wake up and smell hints of this on my comforter from the night before. On the initial spray, I smell a bit of mothballs LoL.

P.S. Tom Ford bring it back please :(

Anabol2336

Bought it for my wife. I'm a sucker for the expensive sunscreen type of fragrances on a woman. Stuff like Carnal Flower, Soleil Blanc, Frank Boclet Cocaine, the Bronze Goddess line, Versace Dark Crystal, D&G Light Blue Intense, etc. This juice is searingly beautiful and is currently one of my wife's favorite dumb reaches in her collection. I hear it's been discontinued which really makes me angry. Need to get her some backup bottles ASAP.

Oreo2

I love love this fragrance. To me, it is back-up bottle worthy. Just like Black Orchid, it opens with a smack in the face - on this one it is Cypress and Pink Pepper, but - but it settles down into this creamy, nutty, floral yumminess. So so delicious! I love to wear this one during the summer. The dichotomy might turn some off but I have grown to love it.

Newer releases Soleil Blanc and Eau de Soleil Blanc are cousins to Orchid Soleil, but they are so quiet and minimal. Orchid Soleil is bold and proud and loud in comparison and I definitely prefer it to the private blend selections.

Sadly, it’s been discontinued, but it’s easy to pick up a bottle still. Overlooked gem, imho.

nizzlehead

This perfume is super confusing! I've worn this a total of 3 times and each time it's been different.
1st time - all I smelled was super strong orange. Basically, it smelled exactly like the juice looked - orange. I liked it but it wasn't a love.
2nd time - I was like WOW - orange cream! All I could smell was this delicious orange creamsicle bar I'd eat as a kid. LOVE LOVE LOVE! I went and ordered a full bottle.
3rd time - what just happened? Corn Tortillas? I never smelled this the other two times I used this (mind you, this isn't the new bottle, this is the same tester vial). But now all I smell are corn tortillas. It's not a bad smell and I actually rather like it but I'm just so weirded out that this has smelled different on 3 separate occasions. This has never happened with any other fragrance. I really don't mind at all. In fact, I rather adore that this scent is so complex that it smells different each time I wear it.

Florence27

Fascinating scent, to say the least. Blind bought it as I found a 100ml bottle for half the price.
First reaction was oh, f***. Not necessarily medicinal, but there was something 'cold', couldn't tell what that was.

Second trial, -because I wouldn't just give up so easily- I detected some specific notes. Cypress most prominently in the opening. I really don't understand why some people call it synthetic. The cypress is so realistic, it transforms you to an evergreen forest. As I often go on hiking trips in the woods, I immediately felt like I inhaled mountain air.

Shortly after, a white lily dominates, so real, you can almost smell the dew drops on its petals. A carnal tuberose -barely an aura- wanders in the background sadly, as it's my favourite flower. Orchid is not distinct, at least to me.

The drydown is the part when it evokes suntan vibes. There's a saltiness, possibly from the chestnut, similar to the smell of warm skin after swimming in the sea.

Third trial, I was hooked. That bizarre combination of coldness, salty skin, and almost indolic florals, creates an intoxicating scent. It feels arrogant, unapproachable. Yet it carries an air of luxury and sophistication as well. Sexy in its own, unique way. Definitely not for everyone. Not a safe blind buy.

PS1. There is no similarity to Guerlain Terracotta whatsoever.

PS2. No corn tortilla vibe.

giri-boni

This is one of the best fragrances I have smelled in my hole life. Take a look at my collection and I can tell you that almost nothing compares to it when it comes to creamy white flowers. I have only a split of it and I cannot describe how dreamy it Is. It smells like tuberose, yes, but not the green or 80s or bloom one. It is tamed down only to give body to the gorgeousness of the base notes of hazelnut and whipped cream. A chic version of Classique essence. I really want a full bottle!

danygurl06

This was one of the first fragrances I tried by Tom Ford along with Soleil Blanc. Orchid Soleil smells considerably more interesting and attractive than Soleil Blanc.

I first tried this in the summer. It started off with mothballs and soon transformed into stargazer lilies with chestnut flavored whipped cream. It’s now winter and it smells a little different. I now understand the earthy and skin like smell people often talk about.

Right now it smells like sweet unwashed hair radiating from my skin. It smells like I’ve been running my fingers through someone’s oily scalp. It smells human. Only until I put my nose close can I smell the typical Orchid Soleil smell. There is no mothball/menthol smell either which is nice but it’s not blooming on my skin.

I truly believe this fragrance needs heat and humidity to shine. It may seem dense and have chestnut (think chestnuts roasting on a open fire), but this is not a winter fragrance.

RubyMe

Proud owner of this gem. Hate the opening, sth just doesn't mix well there. After one hour the magic happens. I get the most beautiful gourmand scent ever. Very creamy plus the vanilla smells like a very expensive dessert. Not a safe blind buy though and it blooms during the summer

SANGÉLICA

This Treasure was a blind buy for me and I am totally happy I made it !
All of notes are blended so well together as only TF knows !
I can feel every note
From Tuberose and pink paper to the creamy Vanilla, Cream and the Chestnut 🌰
The scent is very cozy and sexy together
I try it now at cold day but I think it will be it’s Best on the Summertime!
Absolutely addictive fragrance
Unique and Lovley !

Honeybunbun

I can’t make up my mind on this one. For me it’s definitely sexy, like in a way that reminds me of strippers I think it’s combination of strong sweet floral with the savory note giving kind of ultra feminine perfume worn over sweaty fake tan vibes. I sometimes really enjoy it other times it’s off putting.

Dahlia05

To me it's very sickly, like a floral, sugary cough drop. Definitely not for me.

RhodeC

Somehow medicinal to me. Perhaps it's the combination of lily and cypress? Definitely not for me.

kiraagold

I’m so confused by this scent!
Scrumptious tuberose vanilla ice cream… tripping on mushrooms?

Is it the pink pepper at the top that gives it the earthy spore note? Or the patchouli and chestnut funk at the bottom?

And what is it with Tom Ford and fungus?

Confection10

Third blind-buy from Tom Ford. Totally different to BO edp or BO parfum. Definately feminine. Dreamy, creamy, lushy tuberouse, lily (very realistic one) and vanilla. Very sweet on the good way. No spiciness, no green notes, no woody. Just sweet, warm tuberouse, lily and vanilla. This goes a step above to Fracas or Mahora, my used to be tuberouses. The bottle full of deliciousness. If this smells this good on Northern winter, I can hardly wait summer. No tortilla, no popcorn on my skin. I’m in love.

Gingersnaps777

Ok....there's lots going on in this perfume. I can smell everything mentioned at some stage of the development on the skin except the tortilla smell a lot of people talked about.
I smell the minty mothballs of grandma's closet, the beach, and the sweet whipped creamy tuberose. I do really wish I only smelled the beach and the creamy tuberose.
I do not smell much of the chestnut which I totally adore in Lancome's Tubéreuses Castane.
The drydown smells KIND OF similar to Amouage's Love Tuberose. LT smells a tad bit more sweet, happier, and doesn't give too much of a beachy vibe.
Orchid Soleil to me has a slight sadness about it...slight darkness even though at times it does feel sunny like being at the beach. It goes back and forth with this feeling. It might be the cypress bringing this feeling out of me.
Overall, I feel this perfume tells a story and it doesn't care if you love it or not.

Orchid Soleil stays in your own scent bubble. It doesn't project much unless your skin warms up. I'd say about arms' length on average. Lasts about 5-6 hours on my skin. Overall, I like this, but I prefer Love Tuberose and Tubéreuses Castane (OS doesn't smell like TC by the way, but have some same notes).

Virgo92093!

The opening is a medicinal nutty smell . The dry down is a little better but it has a bubblegum tuberose note and something about this reminds me of getting my teeth cleaned at the dentist when I was a kid . This is very unique and not a safe blind buy. There is a soft spicy note in the opening as well . Lasting power and projection is good . I give the scent a 5/10

Kanutten

In love with this perfume. Love every stage of it and the dry down is to die for. So sad it's discontinued. Just bought a back up bottle.

Jabouba

I absolutely love this one, it’s actually the only one I love from this line.
It’s very heavy and strong only appropriate for fall or winter.
Little goes a long way and stay all day long.
It’s very similar to Armani green malachite

Farangismua

Just got mine and today and its sooo pleasant to my nose. Its nothing like a black or velvet orchid which I also love but this one so so subtle and so soft. Very balsamic and Tuberose just makes it so perfect and cozy smelling. This could easily be a signature scent and I see myself getting attached to this one. I love cozy perfumes like this so Id give it 10/10

liat

This has a dusty flowers aroma. Sometimes it's light and dry and clean and I love wearing it. At other times it's old and cloying and makes me uncomfortable.

BetaTuga

I tested this at the store today. The opening is strong but very soon it settles into a scent that makes you think you have been to the beach. A mixture of sweet tan oil with heated sand. I believe that what others are perceiving as tortilla, corn, popcorn I am perceiving as sand. I have got the same feeling as when I smelled Terracotta, but with this one, it is even more evident. Because it is sweet, it might be very conforting for winter. It didn't last on skin, though. Although On paper it lasted longer. So, I confess I was amazed by the scent, but only for a couple of hours, because after that it was very faint. These very expensive fragrances have an obligation to last much longer.

Air.astarte

Over the past few years my relationship with this scent has gone from hate, to curiosity, to lustful obsession. I'm in love with tuberose, but this blend does something special with it. The warmer and sweatier I am, the better it is. Smells like sex in a library with grand aged wood shelves, filled with white flowers. Or maybe hot sand or clay almost burning your feet on a hot day with vanilla and white flowers. On dry cold skin and on paper it does have a "tortilla" or grain note, but when warmed it becomes fleshy and sweet.

savvasamir

@romymia yes it has been discontinued for quite some months now.get this lactonic white floral while you can.If you cant find it I can give you mine as it was a bit more feminine than i can tolerate...;-)

Pez_Enelrio

If applied carefully it is a very beautiful, rich and sensual scent in a beautiful bottle that perfectly gives back the natural smell of Orchid embraced by a bouquet of tuberose and lilies...

If you overuse it though... Now I know how in history the princesses felt like while committing suicide by inhaling Lilies in a closed room...

Neosmiaphyte

One of few fragrances with a realistic lily. The lily plays second fiddle, however, to the tuberose background. It is creamy, strong, and assertive. The extended dry down is the best and smoothest white floral I've tried, but is only a skin scent.

For me, it is a no due to the opening. There is a medicinal (nutty?/almond?/cherry?/chestnut?) that to me is extremely off-putting. It projects strongest during this stage, so the part of the fragrance I like least is what I smell most while the part of the fragrance I like best is almost imperceivable.

It is worth a try especially if you like white florals or unique perfumes.

Prissy LaParisian

Thanks god, I got it with 50% off, so I decide to pick up 100ml (crazy sales in France, ahaha !). I get a sexy tropical tuberose vibe scent. Gourmand lover friendly! I feel sexy for this summer. At the begininng, I was afraid because of negative reviews. I am lucky, because the chemistry with my skin is great.

No smells of medecine or pop corn at all !!!!
It really depends of your skin, so please try it on your skin, for me it was an good surprise :)

Next : Santal Carmin (absolute) atelier cologne or Cuir blanc Atelier Givenchy (50% off)? AHAHAH! someone try it ? It is feminine scent ?

crystalistheone

This scent is gorgeous, it is a very beachy and creamy summer scent. This scent smells like you are on the beach during your vacation. I have to agree with other reviewers that it is the most wearable to the Tom Ford signature line.

bottle 10/10
scent 8/10
projection 7/0
longevity 7/10
overall 8.5/10

ekowala7

I really really dislike 'beachy' scents - no coconut, no salt, nothing like that! I'm also really picky about tuberose. But did I blind buy a decant of this? Heck yeah, I did.

I'm shocked? This is ... gorgeous! I really like the Black / Velvet Orchid profile and this does not disappoint. It is the 'lightest' and most wearable of all the TF Orchids but it is really unique in my collection. This is a bright, warm, creamy sunshine scent and smells like if you've been on the beach all day, some salt in your hair, but you're wearing a gorgeous creamy body lotion. There isn't anything dirty about this! I really think the whipped cream lends to this elegance.

Longevity is wicked 10-12 hours, this clings forever. I can see the colour of the juice in my decant and it is orange and looks so oily and delicious. Silage is heavy.

Overall 7.5/10

Noha8

A hot elegant sun in a bottle.
For those who find it a very sharp perfume, you can layer it with velvet vanilla by mancera. Gradually, It will become more creamy and a little bit sweeter and more glowy.

Nataliemarie

@Richechka, Not sure where you live, but it's still avl in Dept stores in the U.S.

richechka

Beautiful fragrance ☀️

Very unique, well blended, quality.

For sure you have to grow and train your nose to understand this kind of complicated scents.
Its not a shame to be not ready for the perfume - training your nose is a matter of time.
I do believe that every perfume in the world is beautiful and only our character and sniffing talent decides which one is correct for each person.

“Orchid Soleil” is my great nose trainer.
Yes, it is unusual, yes, very loud but at the same time absolutely gorgeous!
I would not adore it a few years ago when I preferred just simple and linear scents - now, when it is discontinued, I do realize the real beauty and originality of Tom Ford’s creation.

Thick and rich, creamy, oily, sweet, flowery, sunny, feminine, positive, seductive. It opens for me a new world of fragrances - fragrances that pleases not a crowd but myself 🙌🏻❤️

I’m motivated to hunt for the last pieces of this masterpiece, I do believe there is no and will never be a similar treasure 🌞

Good luck and be inspired 💋

ina1977

I can't understand the whole "popcorn" story over here, for me this perfume is unique! I have been using it for 2 years and I think the notes of orchid, chestnut and whipped cream dominate. Although it is more of a summer fragrance, I think it will be quite original to use it in the fall, even in the winter.

AllRounder

I'm a guy, and well, I bought this for my wife because it's hyped up quite a bit. My wife loves the smell of tuberose, however, the way TF formulated this scent. It comes off kind of like a corn tortilla. I'm not really sure whether it's the whip cream and tuberose coming together and doing that, or it's something else. To my nose it's just how that smell comes off.

So if you're not used to smelling tuberose, this will definitely give off a weird corn tortilla scent. I've also introduced this smell to several of my own friends and my wifes friends too. Some of them seem to like it, while others have shared my opinion. My wife seems to not notice it either, but I guess it really differs from person to person and their olfaction.

Although I simply dislike this smell, I do respect my wifes decision to keep it around and spray it from time to time.

chakalitpasshun

Tuberose and mothballs. That’s it. This was such a huge disappointment for me being a fan of the Velvet Orchid, I just knew this was going to be spectacular judging by the bottle. You either love this or you hate it.

Perfairy999

Spicy creamy nutty! I AM IN LOVE! I'm a winter girl, but this perfume is the reason that makes me looking forward to summer. VERY sad is discontinued.

Perfumedsecrets

For those asking this has definitely been discontinued. It's no longer on the Tom Ford website, and in my experience once a perfume is taken off the brand's site--it's a goner. Beautiful stunning rose gold bottle! It's unfortunate that this didn't do well because I think it was intended as the more affordable summer fragrance from TF vs. paying $200 + for a Soleil Blanc or Eau de Soleil Blanc. Some of the reviews are hilarious! I'm grateful it's not the essence of a corn tortilla on my skin. It's a warm and sexy tuberose. It has the hint of high end tropical sun care in there, but it's not overwhelmingly sunblock. I couldn’t put my finger on what it reminds me of until it hit me. Comptoir Sud Pacifique Fleurs des Caraibes. They’re not exact, but similar in my opinion.

Oudirose

Smells like a popcorn 🍿, can’t stand this

Neosmiaphyte

The opening is children's cough syrup then quickly transforms into sticky sweet tuberose. The dry down is bright and creamy.

PimpDaddy

Gave it a few wearing, but unfortunately for me all I got was corn tortillas. Looks like I'm not the only one.

samantham-123

Well.
A bit over 3 years ago i very stupidly bought a 100ml bottle of this blind.. after a failed black orchid blind buy a few years earlier lol.
I didn't understand it, I was expecting a sweet summery, typically beach scent. But this isn't like that; the description says " captures the most brilliant sunshine " Well it really is like an abandoned beach on a scorching hot day, the air is still and a slight hot salty breeze is the closest thing to wind. The sand is white and burning hot under your feet and the smell of white flowers in the dune shrubbery is wafting in the air.
If you want your typical sweet coconutty- tiare- lime type scent, then this really isn't it, but it is still very beautiful.
My chemistry has completely changed since then and it dries down beautifully on my skin, I get a whole lot more Lilly than tuberose. It's slightly bubblegum-y and sweet, with a lovely creamy milky tone. Some fragrances make me think of colours, but this actually makes me think of bright white beach sand.
ThE opening is a little off though, I don't know how or why but it reminds me of when you'd rub an eraser to hard in into the paper at school and it would get hot. That only lasts a few seconds though, then it's creamy but citrus and from there it's all white flowers, vanilla and milky cream. It really makes me want to go outside on a searing summer day and sit on an empty beach

Update Nov 24 2020:

I had tucked this away through winter and pulled it out 3 days ago. Those who believe this is a cold weather only scent, I must respectfully disagree. In cold, on my skin it sits somewhat heavy, overbearing and strange. On a 30 degree summer day though..oh man. It absolutely blooms. The vanilla and cream become luscious and marshmallow sweet. The lily and tuberose have a slight bubblegum smell and the patchouli becomes pleasantly fragrant and a little balsamic. So so Sooo addictive. I get little whafts of fluffy sweet cream now and again.
I find it weird though that to smell directly on my skin, it's how it smells on first spray, and I find the opening unpleasant lol. But to smell it wafting in the air around you, and on fabric, it's completely different. Bummer it's discontinued though, if i finish this bottle I'll def have to repurchase before it's gone completely

kitsunemagic

I can see why this perfume isn't for everyone, the opening notes can be a bit much at first, on my skin it smells very close to real lilies and tuberose with a touch of green notes, like walking around in a garden after it rained or a greenhouse covered in lilies and white flowers. If the opening is a bit overwhelming give it a few till it dries down since that's when the whipped cream and hazelnuts appear and gives off this warm, spicey and rich scent mixed with the natural green and white floral notes. So far I dig Orchid Soleil and I'm happy I finally have it!

jrotz2325

I am laughing out loud at the comments about this smelling like Mexican dinner lol - I'm currently wearing this one. It is very subtle, white floral. I've been complimented on it. Not a big projector on me but it is a very nice skin scent. And also I see that this one runs a lot cheaper than other Tom Fords, so I would say it is worth a try. I don't like it as much as Black Orchid or Tobacco Vanille but it is very nice and I can see this being good in the office.

Air.astarte

Very peculiar. Intriguing. A fresh bouquet in an old wooden house when first sprayed. Then...oily skin warmed in the sun. Fades into a memory of something sweet and minty, with the skin note lingering along. I've never smelled anything like it. It's genderless and I would not say sexy, but, I do not always want to smell sexy or attractive. Sometimes we're something more complex. This is my second Tom Ford and I'm definitely a fan of this style.

northstar

Yes! Heavier sillage and longer lasting. A bit too floral for me on first spray but I really appreciate the quality, like fresh deep flowers that I imagine sticking my nose into, and then the longer I wear it, the more I like it. It gets sweeter, creamier, nuttier after an hour or so. I am for sure going to layer this with Bronze Goddess. I wasn't sure at first, but really falling in love with it, glad I blind bought a large bottle. Impressive bottle also, so happy with it!

Timaka

Spicy, weird, intoxicating. Warm, nutty, creamy tuberose. Definitely one of a kind! Sillage is soft and longevity on skin is moderate, 4-6 hours. Perfect for beach days!

sylvain.cheung

This perfume makes me feel hungry...

Austrian_in_Denmark

Reading through the reviews, I am so relieved Orchid Soleil does NOT smell like corn tortilla on my skin!

Instead, it is an unusual and attractive summer scent. On me, Orchid Soleil smells like the sun-warmed skin some others have mentioned.
There is warmth and some sweetness, maybe coming from the vanilla and the chestnuts (that I cannot smell as such).
The tuberose and the lily are strong, plus I a get a lot of cooling mint, really a lot. I have noticed that real tuberose can smell minty, so I suppose that is where it comes from.

Orchid Soleil is like the heat and its antidote in one package. Very intriguing and, luckily, strong and long-lasting too.

ViouAmara

I get a huge frangipani note. A creamy solar one. As If it was Songes Goutals’ sister, minus the oily seeds. It’s not a tuberose on my skin. Nose’s mysteries.
Finally, the strong synthetic smell destroys the summer intention, at least on my skin. Sorry, rejected. Not a safe blind buy, for sure.

Update: I changed my mind completely. Used with caution (it’s extremely strong!) it gives me a perfect « warm skin in the sun » scent, but a single spray is enough or the effect is lost. I like it a lot now.

Pandaface321

Am I the only one who thinks this is more suitable as a winter scent... it smells like Christmas time to me.

Tm5

Its really smells like burnt caramel popcorn and lillies :) very different

Fragrantnatic

I have a sample spray of this, the fragrance is powerhouse on longevity and has enormous sillage. The Tuberose is so prominent it is somewhat overwhelming. sorry I cannot detect the lotus at all. Its tuberose overload with a hint of an overly sweet vibe. Very heavy scent on me.. Sorry, not for me. : (

Annareuschel

I think this has been discontinued. It’s not on TF website and major department stores are out of stock.

Annareuschel

I think this has been discontinued. It’s not on TF website and major department stores are out of stock.

mitchparfums

Could anyone tell me if this beauty has been discontinued?

scensitive

easy breezy, not literally smelling like a beach. such a warm sunshine cinnamon.

flaviafatima

Does Anyone know if this beauty has been discontinued? It's not on Tom Ford'site...

Rosemary14

The opening: creamy, sweet, orchid, classic Tom Ford Orchid line DNA. Then the dry down with a bunch of ???? in the air. This is strange what is this? I hop on Fragrantica and read: Corn Tortilla’s~ That’s it!! The dry down is corn tortilla’s and patchouli.

ev4eto

I wish this lasts more...

LanaBella90210

I feel like the luckiest girl in the universe to have scored a 3.4oz bottle of this gorgeous beauty for a mere 35 bucks on a recent Ebay auction. After I ran through a Sephora sample, I knew I needed to get a full size for my growing perfume collection, now, all will be right with the world.

trillav

Genuinely the best tuberose scent on the market. I have hundreds of perfumes, some ultra-luxury niche others mid-range...and I've yet to find a good replacement for this!

It's just THE perfect tuberose...it's so warm and creamy and inviting. This smells like a tropical island wedding...rainforest....but NOT green rainforest...only the humid succulent sweet flowers in bloom on the jungle floor.

This has no elements of green which I normally don't enjoy in other tuberose scents. It makes them too sharp and uninviting.

Longevity is okay here...nothing to write home about which is the only disappointing thing. If this had the staying power of MFK BR540 or Oud Satin Mood, this could be my signature.

1mouad

Just ordered a bottle of this thinking I'd like it, but after reading the reviews here I can't unsmell the gasoline or corn/tortilla references. So, I can no longer smell this without getting nauseous.
It's all good tho, my collection is getting too large lol.

If anyone out there likes this, I'm selling a 3.4 oz w/ box & cap for 75$ including shipping. 99% full!

dahlia aux pêches

Oh, how I wanted to love this. Let me tell you why I can't.
I smelled this straight out of the bottle on a testing card and I thought it was so lovely, it was sweet and creamy, a pure white floral bomb. It reminded me of something my great grandmother wore.
I sprayed one spritz on my neck and went about my day. I never spray more than once when wearing a fragrance for the first time. Now, something you must know about Orchid Soleil, the sillage and lasting power for this fragrance is insane. I got many compliments on it while at work and while grocery shopping. And for good reason. It smells amazing.
Here's where it went bad.
This fragrance is so powerful, I started to feel physically sick to my stomach after wearing it for a few hours. I didn't think that a fragrance could do that to me since I'm not particularly sensitive to smell. I even tried to eat lunch, thinking my stomach ache was coming from being hungry. But it didn't go away until I went home and took a shower.
I tried the fragrance on a week later and the same thing happened to me again. I tried it months later, when the weather had changed. Still, it made me sick. I even tried to use my finger to dab the tiniest amount to my wrist and neck. It was still so strong and still made me feel sick.
This smells so, so nice. It's such a classy, elegant and almost organic floral fragrance, like fresh cut jasmine and roses. I just wish that it didn't make me sick when I wear it :(

ghadaalboghdadi

What corn? I don't get it.
On me this is creamy sweet tuberose and lilies.
I love it!

rasputin1963

Layer its corn tortilla smell with Hermès EAU DE GENTIANE BLANCHE, which smells just like jalapeño peppers. You'll have Mexican Dinner #3.

Sonyakaroliinaq

Shame on you guys who say that this smells like grandma..smh...
This is REALLY pretty scent in my opinion, at first i was like wow, this is intense! But the dry down is so lovely and creamy and men also love it on me. Touberose is definitely there, but it doesn't smell old or grandma(ish). I mostly smell some creamy vanilla, nuts and flowers.

capt. carl

Rotten corn tortillas covered in a nauseatingly sweet fake floral bathroom spray.

agsss7

I am not a huge fan of tuberose, it does not work well on my skin (it feels kind of overwhelming). The exception is Tom Ford. Tuberose in this edition is very appealing to me. Orchid Soleil is similar to Soleil Blanc but personally I like the OS better (also the price is more affordable). However, personally I don’t get that much similarity with Black Orchid that some people suggest.

It is creamy, deep, gourmand, warm and luxurious. I can smell of course tuberose, cream, chestnut and vanilla. The projection and sillage are both very good. Although it is announced as summer fragrance, I definitely prefer it for autumn or early spring.

katherine.banzon

This is a glorious, voluptuous fragrance!

I am no great hand (nose rather? Haha!) at detecting individual notes, but the full-bodied lushness of Orchid Soleil hints at a feminine muskiness even though it isn't listed in the notes breakdown. Whenever I put it on, it becomes this opulent mink coat that envelopes me for the entire day.

There is, however, an eccentric note that weaves itself throughout the composition during its entire stay. Don't get me wrong, I adore that quirk, it is what made Orchid Soleil the beloved of my heart. It just makes a bottle a must-sniff rather than blind-buy worthy in my opinion.

I wrote a review about this over a year maybe almost two years ago when I first got it, it's strange how perception of perfumes change and as time goes by things can smell differently to me. When I first bought the perfume it was a blind by I was not disappointed with it because I found it very unique and different then anything I've ever smelled before and I loved it but I also found that it smelled similar to corn tortillas. Once I got past the corn tortilla phase it was a creamy Sunny sweet tuberose / vanilla. I haven't worn it in about a year and I sprayed some on today and it's even more beautiful than I found it before. This time I smell very strong realistic fleshy ripe tuberose with heavy cream and vanilla. I love ripe fleshy tuberose and this smells exactly like it! It smells like someone took a fresh tuberose flower dipped it in vanilla rolled it in whipped cream and then sprinkled it with sugar then left it in the sun to heat up. It's not for everyone! But I think it's one of the best tuberose perfumes I've ever smelled. I no longer get the association with corn tortillas.

This is more of a late summer/fall evening fragrance, the vanilla and tuberose opening can be too much for sunny and hot days! As time passes it starts to smell like a soda pop with traces of vanilla.
The dry down is extremely sweet and creamy, the patchouli is what’s keeping it from becoming too sweet.
The bottle is gorgeous and the fragrance itself is unique and very balanced, however, this is not a crowd pleaser so it isn’t ideal for a blind buy!

For me, this is a earthy, creamy, bohemian piece og art!
IT has a personality "i like doing what i want, and creativity is my power, nothing is gonna stop me" type going on allso. Artistic and different from the mainstreem fragrances, but not Sharp and loud. Love IT!

If Fracas were imbued with bright golden rays of pure sunshine and chestnut scented whipped cream. I am very surprised the comparison hasn't come about! Fracas is the slightly more proper older sister and Orchid Soleil is the bright, carefree, quasi-hippie sister with a flair for luxury.

The bottle is stunning. I received a sample, and will more than likely be purchasing the full bottle.

9/10, a perfect summer buy!

Orchid Soleil came to me in the mail this week, a blind buy. I read many reviews exclaiming how creamy & somewhat beachy this fragrance is. I also read a review pointing out the relation between this scent and Soleil Blanc. So, of course, I couldn't resist.

My impression...

1. This is definitely the creamiest fragrance I have encountered thus far. But that creaminess shares the spotlight with... TORTILLAS!

2. Yes, tortillas, all the way. And I'm not talking about the white flour tortillas you buy at Walmart, but the very fragrant yellow corn tortillas you find at your local Mexican grocery. Don't get me wrong, I love me some good, authentic tacos, but Orchid Soleil smells like someone dipped my ex-mother-in-law's kitchen into a giant bowl of heavy cream!

3. I own (and love) Soleil Blanc. Aside from both fragrances having a "smooth" appeal, the two smell worlds apart.

To my nose, Orchid Soleil is definitely not beachy at all. It's not a creamy tuberose, but rather creamy tortillas. That's literally all I can smell. Just, no.

The first time I smelled this from a sample, I didnt think I liked it, but I kept the sample and kept testing it because it was so unusual.

After I got used to it, I purchased the 1.7 ounce and have enjoyed wearing it. I haven't been complimented on it, but I have been asked what it is. My husband says its ok, but to not spray much.

The tuberose is strong for me in the beginning and dries down to a creamy vanilla tuberose. The scent lasts all day for me on clothes.

My husband and I got married in Maui and I wore a tuberose lei for the ceremony. This put the biggest smile on my face off first sniff. It definitely has that vanilla cream soda vibe like velvet orchid carries through while still being dominantly white floral. For me this is a close to the body scent unlike some modern white floral bombs (Gucci bloom) and I’m not seeing the comparison to Aerin Hibiscus Palm. This is a sexy, warm scent while Hibiscus Palm has that sweet tart, candy vibe. What a gorgeous blend!

Realistic orchid smell, takes me back to middle school, during the end of the school year, when I was waiting in line to offer orchids to our female teachers, wanting just to get it over with so I can go for orange juice with my classmates.

I do not know, it's something intriguing about this smell, it's exciting, when I tested it, I could not stop myself from smelling my wrist. So I decided to buy it. It's something special, it does not remind me of anything similar, it's unique. The only thing I'm not happy about in terms of price is longevity. It does not persist very much as opposed to Black Orchid for example. I have that one and that's an olfactory bomb! On my skin it has a 4-hour persistence with moderate projection. So I'm a little disappointed about performance. Perfume is purchased from a safe source and is original. I would have liked to persist longer because the smell is divine. It's a creamy tuberose on steroids, just like the violet from Guerlain Insolence

Edit: this just don't last on me at all... in 2h is completely gone... So disappointed because i love the smell.

A plain full of Tuberose and jasmine...awesome

This is a serious tuberose perfume in the same vein as Carnal Flower and even Hermes Twilly, and not just some summer flanker fling. Like those other scents, Orchid Soleil dissects the different facets of tuberose and extrapolates on them: the icy, menthol side is expressed here in the chilly cypress and bitter orange, the weird, fleshy parts of tuberose here is worked into a fresh milky accord, that merges with a meaty, nutty chestnut-patchouli. Lilly is a welcome sidekick here, adding a salty milkiness without getting in the way of the tuberose. The effect created is like a thick, meaty, vegetal hunk of plant "meat" that bleeds a milky, salty liquid. Gorgeous. I wish it was a big seller but alas, I cant picture any millenial girls pulling it off. This guy will certainly give it a go.

This smells like beautiful suntan lotion

halogencat

Big, blonde, sexy summery tuberose and vanilla. The chestnut cream scent is definitely there and gives it a lovely warmth. Opening was a little offputting - it's a very bittersweet opening and even with the sweet candy notes it definitely doesn't smell fully gourmand or edible, which is a little arresting.

Agree with the reviewers detecting a medicinal note - nowhere near as pronounced as in Mugler's Aura (where the shocking root-beer/medicine smell totally won me over), but similar. I wonder if it's a result of the sweet vanilla with bitter, colder notes? I'd be interested to smell it on a man, the medicinal note turns the stereotypically feminine tuberose and creamy vanilla upside down enough that there's definitely a unisex potential here.

I get the similarities with Soleil Blanc but personally I like this much better, it smells less cheap and more genuinely solar - Soleil Blanc has the suntan lotion note, which I don't necessarily think is a bad thing, but in more of a "synthetic, soapy lotion" way, whereas this has a lovely radiance to it - literally, considering the massive sillage. The boldness means it's not quite one for me, unfortunately as I've been on a real kick for finding beachy scents lately, but it's pretty glorious. A great scent for the sort of person who owns and looks good in a white swimsuit.

I wanted tuberose and all I'm getting is chestnut. I don't know why I keep trying fragrances that have nut notes, especially chestnut, because I always end up hating them. I think this is that popcorn/tortilla smell that other reviewers mention. Thumbs down.

Super pretty bottle though.

It was a blind buy. My very first spritz was 100% smells like corn tortilla. I thought it was a very strange smell, until it dries down. It's drydown was sweet and rich-creamy eventho it still has a little tortilla smell but not too obvious.

After a few days, being kept well, the scent starts to smell better, like more creamy and relaxed (not as sharp as the first spray).

Sevenbirds

My first thought was "this smells like tortillas!"
Then I thought, "Wow, my sense of smell IS really weird"
Then i looked it up and started reading the reviews here - I'm not alone! I feel so validated! - lol.
Corn tortillas & tuberose.
(I also grew up in Southern California so I grew up around the smell of fresh tortillas )
+ 1 for Team Tortilla!

I know this is a polarizing scent and everyone's body chemistry/scent perception can be different. But oh my stars, I just love this fragrance so much!!!!!!!! It's often touted as tuberose forward, but I get mostly red lily mixed with chestnut and the background of cypress. That mentholated opening is just intoxicating, and I think the quality for the price is hard to beat in terms of what it does. If you are familiar with Tom Ford Lys Fume, I would say this is the summer version, even though both can easily be worn year round. It's a shame all of this talk about discontinuing this beauty, now I might have to reconsider holding onto the 100 ml I bought for my sister until I wait and see what the final verdict is. Is that bad?

This perfume is so unusual to my nose. The First time I smelled it, on a hot summer say, I thought it was absolutely revolting. I walked out of Sephora wondering who in their right mind would buy this.
A few months later, on cold fall day,one of my colleagues pulled it out of her bag. I instinctively made a face, but the fraghead in me was still intrigued. I asked to smell it and was quite surprised to find it smelled nice. I asked to try it on my wrist and the rest was history.

This is one of my favorite scents, on me it's sweet bubble gum with whipped cream. Delicious and sophisticated. I don't know if people around me can smell it, but I can smell all day on me so I would say the longevity is great. I can't explain what happened the first time I smelled it, but its divine! I do wonder how it will perform in the heat.

WildDove

Orchid Soleil is a thick, creamy, fruity, floral, vanillic tropical fragrance. At times I get a popcorn type note, which is off-putting. I can't decide whether I like this fragrance or not. Classy, edgy summer scent with "solar notes." Gorgeous copper bottle. Gotta give Tom Ford points for originality and concept here. I do like Orchid Soleil used with Black Orchid.

i am a guy and i wear this!! you need to try it on your skinn if you are a guy.. after the 10-15 min this turns inn to one of the best unisex fragrances! the opening is a little feminin. but after its so nice.. everybody asks me what i wear. And i am a guy that are in to fashion but quite masculine. my girlfriend loves it. and borrow it to;)..

This and ysl Y edp is my summer 2019 scents!

Edit nothing smells like this tho!

likes2paint

At first spritz I get knocked about with a HUGE lily and a cooler note that I think is the cypress and then more lily... oh then more. Phew, I don't think that I have ever had a monster on my wrists like this. It lasted around 4 hours on me and shouted at everyone that was in the store that I went shopping at. I think that the lily is trying to kill me off. I can hardly make out anything else. Not to worry. The drydown eventually smells like cumin and a dirty sort of cinnamon on my skin. Hmmm... I will keep trying with this one because it is really interesting, and I need to work it out.
