Valentino Uomo Intense by Valentino is a Leather fragrance for men. Valentino Uomo Intense was launched in 2016. Top notes are Mandarin Orange and Clary Sage; middle notes are Iris and Tonka Bean; base notes are Vanilla and Leather.

Valentino Uomo is conceived as a young Italian heir, whose timeless elegance comes from his legacy. The new edition of the fragrance Valentino Uomo from 2014, Valentino Uomo Intense, comes out in the spring of 2016, announced as the more intense, charismatic and masculine version.

The composition is suave leathery, deep and bright; a typical Italian fragrance style. While the original fragrance represents white leather, the new version brings the intense scent of black leather. Its top notes contain clary sage oil and fresh mandarin. The heart notes include the elegance of iris absolute and tonka bean, laid on a base of black leather and vanilla bean.

The face of the perfume is French actor Louis Garrel. The refined design of the original bottle remained the same, coated in a darker shades of gray. Available as a 50 and 100 ml Eau de Parfum.

Very similar to Dior Homme Intense almost couldnt smell the difference i prefer this one though

MrMrBrian

Ugh I see already where there talking about batches of this one..I bought mine in 2016 or 2017 & need to revisit it in the worst way.. Being I own all the Dior’s & Givenchy’s with this profile I practically never reached for this.. I just clean dust off this & along with the gold bottle version every year lol..Will get to them both being they’re what I think would qualify as vintage & get back on here soon & report

**Copied from my review of the 2021 version**
Ok, so I've had the 2021 version for about a month and just got the 2016 (2020 batch) non Puig version yesterday. I just sprayed the 2016 so off the top I get that bubble gum vibe you get with Noir Absolu but now is drying down to what I'm familiar with in the 2021.
I didn't tell y'all that I absolutely love 2021 it's so incredible its literally my favorite fragrance of all time it's perfect in every way, this 2016 is definitely different in the top but ill have to report back concerning the rest.

MikeRough

I love it, unfortunately this is one that splits people some people around me hated it and some said so so, luckily I wear what I like

Whew

Amazingly addictive but all I smell is lipstick. No idea how to pull this one off. It would be great on a woman if you catch my drift. 9/10

Wow. Some of the comments here are astounding...smells like boiled carrots? What? I understand the makeup bag comments, it has Iris in it so it does smell like that to some, but its not nearly as makeupy as Dior Homme Parfum.

Has it changed lately or something? A little concerned to get another bottle after my bottle from 5 years ago is almost gone. I know its made in a different country now, but a little scared its changed.

Anyone buy a recent bottle? thanks

Valentino uomo intense is a lovely winter fragrance with great longevity. In my opinion it smells like a vanillary, leathery pack of parma violets. Very nice but not blind buy friendly.

I am a boy

I can see why a lot of poeple like this fragrance its very sweet and light with the iris being the main note I smell in it. However for me personally I like my winter fragrances to either be sweetly rich and dark or warm and spicy and this is mainly only sweet and a little to sweet for me and definitly leans a little more feminine for my liking. it lasted about 5-6 hours on my skin with pretty good projecting having poeple smell me from about a foot and half away.

I’m late to the party on this one, but wow what an awesome fragrance.

I have been into fragrances for a while and have a pretty decent and diverse collection of popular niche frags. I had (foolishly) made the assumption that designer was less than niche, but this one made me realise that just because it costs less, you don’t get less for your money.

I would actually rate this in the top 5 of my collection in terms of how accessible and versatile this is. You could wear this to work, the gym, on a date, night out - anywhere anytime.

It is soothing and inviting. Very seductive and sophisticated. Anyone who smells like this is winning. Now I’m intrigued to try the others in this collection. Very happy with this.

Im finding it real hard to choose between Dhi and vui..

Gorgeous Scent and Another Iris Legend , The best Valentino ever created. Modern, Elegant, Classy, Seductive, Sexy and Warm. This is the first perfume from Valentino in my collection and I'm so happy that I have it in my collection. It was on my radar about two years and Finally I bought it blind-buy after reading the positive comments. It opens up with semi sweet warm spicy, herbal and powdery floral note in the background then dry down is semi sweet Creamy vanilla chocolate ambery. Based on Valentino Official Site, There are more notes in this perfume : The Patchouli and Woody notes. In my opinion, The Leather note is not dominant in this perfume and I don't get It. It has lovely Patchouli , Chocolate vibe undertone , It smells so good and very pleasant. Valentino Uomo Intense is sweet but It is not cloying, This is very soft and smooth, Suitable for the Cold Weather. The Art of bottle design is Luxurious Similar to Crystal and inspired by Roman Architecture. I really enjoy it and I love it. Valentino Uomo Intense along with Givenchy Gentleman Reserve Privée are Modern Masterpiece. You can't go wrong with them. Longevity is Good, Highly Recommended.
Two Thumbs.
Bravo Valentino !

I think I'll purchase this when I run out of DHI. The performance is better.

At first I didn't get the comparison to DHI, but after wearing some from a sample the other night, I see it. Very nice.

petshopb

To me this is better than Dior Homme Intense. With the orange/mandarin note it has a little spark/twist.

heysmell

I don't know about the Usa but in Europe production continues and there is no problem to buy it

ayywolf

People say this is very similar to DHI, but I have to disagree. If anything, thiy reminds me of Layton for some reason. Yes, the iris is there and the scent profile has some resemblence, but overall, it's doing its own thing.
Sweet, creamy, a bit fruity, has that bubblegum-like quality but not too much. It has a very masculine, leather-iris backbone that makes it very nice.
I would still choose DHI, but this works on younger guys and people, who don't like iris fragrances that much, because this one is very smooth with it.
Shame that it's pretty hard to find nowdays.
In terms of performance, it projects moderately but lasts quite a long time on skin. Definitely a nighttime and cold weather scent. Playful and sophisticated at the same time.
8/10 for me.

DscentFellow007

This to me seems like Valentinos version of DHI,DHP better ? It all depends what your into this is loud and sweet

Linear, notes listed are exactly what you get. Preforms and projects pretty good.
Its great but I wouldnt discredit DHI and call this a master piece.

PhysicsGuy13

This was love at first sniff. Wonderful Iris dominant fragrance that has an almost chocolate like scent to it. I was so disappointed to hear that it has been discontinued and I quickly ordered a backup bottle from Nordstrom. The longevity is good and it is worth looking into if you like Iris forward fragrances like DHI

MegaMav

Valentino website: "We regret to inform you that this product has been discontinued"

I'm lucky to have grabbed a bottle of this one; I just got it in today.
It is quite good; the iris-heavy start leads to plenty of anise-touched tonka bean.
Nice, especially for the price.
I see folks below compare this to DHI or DHP but Valentino Uomo Intense smells more tonka-driven and more mainstream and is approachably safer for men than the Diors.
To me, outside of the opening, Valentino Uomo Intense reminds me more of Guerlain L'Homme Ideal EDP than DHI or DHP.
If you're looking to replace this now that it's discontinued, try the Guerlain.

ohmy222

Not terribly original and very similar to Dior Homme Intense or YSL La'Nuit de l'Home. Having said that, this is probably my everyday scent in the winter and I like it slightly better than the other two. it is dark enough to satisfy me and safe enough I wear it to the office in the winter/fall and at night even in the spring. Nice longevity. I have read it is discontinued but I still see it in stores.

hc123

Iris and Cherry are probably my two favorite notes. If you find Iris feminine you will find ALL the Iris heavy fragrances Feminine Lipsticky etc. To me DHI is the only Iris scent that has a distinct makeup vibe all the rest I liken to baby powder. I own several Iris fragrances and this one is the most versatile imo. You get the powder but it's backed with a blend of wearable leather, vanilla and just a pinch of spice.

Perfumer007

Irisi ionenes accord a bit vanillic fougere leathery playful scent ,still better to my nose than DHI more masculine, but a bit uninteresting

7/10

tropic0

Very very nice, beautifully blended. Good staying power and projection 5 hrs+. It does remind me a lot of dior homme and I am not sure I find it interesting enough to purchase, I'm looking for something with a bit more character and bite to it.

Damon888

This fragrance is amazing , but ... I have Givenchy gentleman reserve privee and they are very similar. Idk maybe its just my nose. Only differences are , that valentino opens a bit more fresh and givenchy is heavier , also after dry down valentino is leather focused (but it's not heavy leather) and Givenchy focused more on whiskey . I smelled Narciso for him parfum and DHI , they are also iris based but very different from each other and from these fragrances . But VUI and privee share very similar DNA . So i like them both , but having both of them i redundant , unless you are collector

psarogen

This is closer to Dior Homme Parfum than it is to Dior Homme Intense. I guess not many people smelled the Parfum so thats the reason

SimplDude

I love ❤️ this one ☝️ It’s a gorgeous combination of leather, iris, tonka, mandarin, vanilla etc. Great for cold weather and much wearable iris for guys imho. This is a beautiful scent profile, no complications. Try before you buy 👍

9/10 🙂

Faris.n

If you mix dior homme the original and the intense you will have this fragrance. To me as I have them all, I like the idea specially Uomo is better in performance

rumpels

Blind buy (a rare for me).
Batch 38X717
To my nose,
Opening: i get a Lalique encre opening ...
Middle: sickly strong minty herbal sweet smells... like a hospital pharmacy lol
Drydown: Unique earthy sweet that I'm going to get used to.

As others i've noted, definitely fall, winter fragrance. imo, not a safe blind buy for people with my kind of nose(see limited fragrance shelf lol) ...

TheDogfatherHTX

One of the most hyped Valentino fragrances in the community. After hearing that it's a direct competitor to some other heavy-hitter iris scents, I blind bought it. Here's how it went;

Scent:
Opening is powdery, leathery, and citrusy. I'm immediately hit with the strong iris note, followed by the leather note. I get a noticeable dose of the mandarin orange as well. The dry down is powdery, leathery, and sweet. The iris and leather are still standout notes, but the vanilla and tonka have become main notes as well.

Performance:
Initial projection is strong at around 6 feet. Sillage is very strong, leaving a heavy scent trail. After a few hours the projection was still more than arms length and the scent trail was still easily noticeable. After around 8 hours the projection was still about arms length and there was still an easily noticeable scent trail. At the 12 hour mark, the projection was within 12 inches, but there was still a slightly noticeable scent trail. Beast mode performance.

When to wear:
This is a fall/winter fragrance that's suitable for day or night time wear. This is also a perfect office fragrance and would work great on a date night as well.

Blind buy:
If you like iris scents this is a very safe blind buy. This fragrance does not disappoint.

Final verdict:
This scent is a masterpiece, and I put it up there with the other iris heavy-hitters (Dior Homme Parfum, Prada L'homme Intense, and Givenchy Gentleman Reserve Privee). It's classy, sophisticated, and always gets positive attention. Couple that with the killer performance, and you got a perfect score from me. Add this one to your collection ASAP.

This is a fantastic fragrance! I adore the combination of leather, iris, vanilla and orange. I have a sensitive nose, so I find the opening too sweet, but after half an hour to an hour it becomes elegant yet youthful. The notes are also blended beautifully, and the iris really blends super well with the notes. Moreover, it smells pleasantly powdery. On a final note, the toned-down sweetness on the dry down is perfect, and the subtleness of orange with tonka bean and vanilla gives depth and complexity to this fragrance. 9.25/10

monsieur.moustache

Somewhat of a paradox. This is a soft, powdery fragrance, but with extremely strong projection and longevity.

Another unique characteristic: there's a masculine quality under the powder notes that gives this a slight edge over others in the category.

I'm personally not a huge fan of this type of fragrance in general, but this does convey a bit of sophistication that's appealing.

7.5/10

Alcsence

Waaay better than Dior Homme Intense in every way, including quality.

ashakhboz123

Smells like makeup and lipstick, don't sense any leather at all. Not for me, smells femine.

aykude

Whenever I smell or think about this fragrance I only think about the famous quote;
"Perfectly balanced, as all things should be."

I'm a sucker for Iris note and Uomo Intense is doing it best for me. Crushing all of It's alternatives. Because It's discounted, I tried to get this on the split 2 times and missed it on both times (I hate the ppl that commented before me, jk) and I'm so sad for it. The harmonious combination of iris, vanilla, leather and tonka bean is just a perfection. I'm in love.

boss305hog

This one definitely smells like lip stick or something like a woman's makeup pouch in the opening. But after about 25 - 30 minutes it starts to smell a little different.
Definitely don't blind buy guys.

Flo992

Valentino uomo intense, smells great performs great for 2-3 hrs
Smell/scent its not unique, but quality is on top

I own this one, and if its to chose betwen Valentino and Dior, i would chose Valentino again and again

Hassoni

Batch: 22u31yp.

It is weak?

COFFISDEAD

This scent is magnificent

Colossalscent

I have a 2016 batch and i'm a little bit disappointed. I literally can't stand the opening, the mandarin is extremely pungent and not well balanced, it completely ruins everything and it also gives me a "grandpa" feeling. After 10 to 15 minutes the scents becomes spectacular with that iris, vanilla and leather combination but it only last for some hours before it completely vanish, not satisfied unfortunately. In my opinion Dior Homme Intense and Givenchy Gentleman Reserve Privee are better than this, they have small differences that make them more enjoyable and they have far better performances...

Moon_Q8

I absolutely LOVE its smell, I bought it a few days ago and cant stop smelling anywhere I spray it on, its one my favs in my collection and probably is my signature currently.

butchiej

This is one of the chosen few men's fragrances that I've had that ranks in the top 2. It's insanely beautiful and screamingly delicious! You instantly know it's in rare air and the others can't sit in it's chair!

Fragrancee123

Sorry but this is too sweеt.

Bendking

This older version has less of a floral and its a bit smoother.

aleko_

My favorite all-time perfume. 10/10. Smells how I imagine luxury to smell. It screams sophisticated. Truly amazing.

dann.martin

Dior Homme Intense (DHI) is a contemporary classic and one of my favorite fragrances. As I heard that Valentino Uomo Intense is often compared to it, I decided to run an experiment these days, spraying both on my arms, one on each side.
I don't have as well-trained a nose as most of you guys, so forgive me if this reads as an almost layman's review.
At the onset, both fragrances felt extremely close, I’d say 90% similar (again, don’t forget I’m a layman), with Valentino taking a slight advantage in that it smelled “rounder” and with an iris that felt more pleasant, and less “lipsticky”.
(I also had trouble finding the leather note on the Valentino, but this must be due to my skin chemistry, because it was more apparent on a friend of mine who also wore it the other day).
By about half an hour later, both colonies start to drift slightly apart, following slightly different paths. Valentino felt more linear, still iris-strong, whereas DHI’s iris begins to settle a bit and you’re left with an extremely pleasant “chocolatey” aroma (maybe the cocoa powder some reviewers mention?).
Even so, the differences remain extremely subtle, and an untrained nose would have a hard time distinguishing the two (I doubt anyone smelling it on my skin at a distance would notice the difference, and in this case, I'm including trained noses as well).
Unfortunately, as far as performance is concerned, I couldn't complete the experiment as I ended up having an unscheduled meeting at night and had to take a shower. After the shower, I could still smell both on my arms almost equally well.
Overall, I think DHI smelled a bit better, had a bit more depth and sophistication.
In conclusion, if I had to choose, I’d go for DHI, by a very small margin, maybe 9.2 vs. 9.5 (yes, I REALLY enjoy both).
Final thought: If you already own one, it would be redundant to buy the other as well.

BisherHammash

This is so damn good.

Lordly

If you are young,buy DHI
If you are mature,buy DHI

changethefuture

The combination of mandarin with iris stays with me for a long time. Longevity and projection are pretty good. It's a sweeter iris, like lipstick on a lollipop. Comparison with Dior Homme Intense is inevitable, they have a similar profile, I found DHI drier, towards cocoa powder, and maybe more elegant. This one feels more youthful. The bottle is pretty cool and punk rock as well. I personally can wear these type of fragrances any time, but I understand why some people might say they are better suited for winter and fall. DHI fits more strictly into those seasons for me. This one could be worn all year round.

SNKIOP

Winter, Fall. Scent: 7. Iris in the opening with hints of tonkabean. The iris gets more prominent but there is vanilla and hints of leather too but the iris is always there and the most prominent with vanilla second strongest. Leather gets stronger the longer time passes. Better for the colder weather. Not really "bad boy", it's better with a clean look. Silage: 6,5/10 Longevity: 7,5/10

oTEMPE5To

Just got an old bottle of this and it's a perfect blend to me. The mandarin note is prominent right through the drydown and melds perfectly with the powdery iris and vanilla which round the scent out and sweeten it. The vanilla is more prominent in the sillage than up close. Up close you pick up more of the leather which is pushed quite far into background which is what I prefer, just enough to accent it a little.

This doesn't even smell remotely close to DHI imo. Completely different fragrances both of which are easily in my top 5.

Renku

I NEED HELP! I have the older version of the fragrance and the atomizer suddenly stopped working properly. Whenever i spray it only some droplets comes out. Does anyone have this issue? Thanks!

Eriyou

This is so good, I have both versions and the old version is MUCH better.. more creamy vanilla, longer lasting, and better projection. Not worth owning both, get the O.G. while it's somewhat available. Not hard to pull off but not run of the mill where everyone knows what it is.. wear it anywhere, any time. Ideally cooler days and nights, but wear it whenever and get noticed.

10/10

Cholera

It is really close to DHI but I like VUI more, powdery iris, tonka and vanilla but it is less sticky and earthy than DHI which make it more balanced in my opinion. Warm and inviting, really great for cold weather night outs and dates.

MarkoK87

I have 2016 batch and it is crazy good, I like it more than DHI

LeviLeFragster

POWERFULL AND SOPHISTICATED MASCULINE.
Nowadays that quality is missing from the designer line!
They all just a sweat chemical miserable mess and theay lasts 5 min!
I Love Prada also with Valentino, QUALITY.

ponderbread

The only Dior Homme version I love and own is Dior Homme Original (2021). This is almost identical but just a tad sweeter. I'm guessing that they smell the same to anyone nearby who happens to catch a whiff.

ali7878

good powdery vanilla iris scent

d1n0_v3Lv3T

i'll just say this, i picked up this cologne about 5 or 6 years ago when i was shopping one day cause when i smelled it for the first time it smelled AMAZING, to the point that it's to this day one of the best smelling colognes i've ever smelled. i wore it that winter for i think 4 months and to this day this is literally the only cologne i've ever worn that i never got one single compliment on, ever! i can see why it is rated so high, it smells amazing and it does last a very long time, but on me the projection is terrible. i ended up giving it to a friend after the 4 months cause i didn't want to wear it anymore. i think there are definitely better colognes for fall and winter that have come out since this, me personally i would never never use this again, even if it was given to me for free...

nemotwana

I was at a fragrance store in downtown. While smelling all kinds of designer colognes, I came across this masterpiece sitting on a shelf. I decided to give it a smell and it was magical. leathery, iris, vanilla goodness... 10/10

Old School Tie

Givenchy Gentleman Reserve Privee but with about 50-75% better performance. Great bottle too.

Waseem Ch

Beautiful fragrance, performance is also good.
The combo of iris leather tonka & orange is phenomenal
9/10

KevD86

Sweet, sexy, vanilla iris bomb. Definitely date night worthy. People will smell you and enjoy it but no need at all to overspray, 4 to 5 sprays is plenty. People say this and DHI are redundant but I disagree. DHI is Iris and chocolate (cocoa), VUI is Vanila and Iris. I'll keep this one in my collection forever 9.4 out of 10 for me.

andrewpc84

Uomo Intense is a great wingman for a night out. It's perfect for formal occasions, but be careful wearing it in restaurants as it can be overpowering and compete with the smell of food. The fragrance has a masculine powdery edge that sets it apart from other scents.

Fabio01

Better than the OG and better than Dior homme intense in my nose, its more masculine, leathery, playful. strong projection and sillage. 8/10

[email protected]

Beautiful irís masculine fragrance! I think you cannot go wrong with this one . It will get you compliments

Apache1830

Masterpiece.

I don't get a lot of resemblance to DHI like everybody says, closer to Gentleman edp

Dark, leathery, iris, with juuuuust a touch of sweetness. It's exactly what I wanted.

A lot of sweet fragrances are too sweet for my taste, this one is jackpot for me

10/10, finger in the nose

Tony Shades

The Intense flanker of Valentino Uomo is the only truly leathery iris in the entire category. The only remotely leathery one besides the aforementioned is Dior Homme Parfum, but miles apart. If you love the famous Dior Homme scent profile, but also appreciate nice smoky leathery notes, this one would be a win-win.👍

littlejssn

I first tried Givenchy Gentleman, which I didn't understand the appeal of at all. It simply smelled like baby powder. This, however, I understand a bit more. Actually has some complexity to it, I imagine this is what Ricky Martin smelled like in the 90's, hahaha. I imagine a latin guy in a silk shirt. Not bad. I would consider it a better date scent than Dolce & Gabbana The One.

Hifza

The luxury we can vouch for, dark and strong scent one can own it. I have seen males in my family wearing it and everyone does get attracted to their scent.

NoLongerAGuest

Intoxicating, luxurious & BOLD, this to me was the feeling of getting dressed up to go out for a fancy dinner and then the desert is this super rich gourmet dark chocolate mousse that is expensive but worth every bite. Definitely dark, smooth, warm vanilla and powdery iris. Lasts on my skin or clothes all day from just a tiny spritz, 12+ hours. Bought in 2020 after fear of the axing of the Dior Homme line, it’s a treasure in my collection but I’m finding less opportunities to wear it as tastes have changed.

Selling vintage 2020 3.4 nearly full bottle on eBay or hit me up if you’re interested in a trade for something like Gucci Guilt Absolute, Sauvage Elixir

Imcheap17

I was fortunate to snag a bottle on fragrance net ( discontinued in the u.s. I personally prefer this over Dior homme intense, but it's not far off..

Averym1019

I own both this and DHI and I prefer Uomo intense for a few reasons. I think Uomo intense has a more sophisticated smell because you can pickup the vanilla, leather, and it is less lipsticky with more depth. DHI to me is more linear. Uomo intense is dark and cozy, and smells classy and expensive. I think when purchasing this or DHI, you definitely need to like iris and the lipstick smell, because that is still the most predominant note in both fragrances. But if you are a fan of the iris DNA, Uomo intense is definitely worth a purchase. 9/10

Tfotr

I used to hate powdery fragances but I came to love this one, I discovered that I actually like the Iris note, I had doubts about getting this one or DHI but I decided to get this one because of the leathery scent.

Pipes

It’s a great smelling cologne, the lipstick smell in the beginning it’s kinda made me second-guess on buying it, but that faded within 20 minutes

Theodorusthethird

Ok I love this! I got 7 compliments today for this one. Not blind buy friendly.

Somanysmells

I didn't love this one from the jump but it has more than won me over. I prefer it on skin where I'm able to get that leather note and it does wonders for me. Combined with that iris and vanilla and muah, chef's kiss. It's powdery but I've really come to appreciate it. Never thought I'd be this into the sweets but this one and Reserve Privee are everything to me right now. Dior Homme deserves it's respect but I feel like others have taken that formula and made small changes and really improved upon it. I know some will react as if I just blasphemed but it's how I feel. Highly recommend it if you're into that iris or vanilla. I feel like this and Reserve do a good job of toeing the line and not going too sweet. Dior Homme, to my nose, was just over the line. Again, this is how my nose feels about em. Please don't trash me if you don't feel the same. Having different tastes is what makes "your" taste special. Love what you love and try to appreciate and respect what you don't. Done with the speech. About to repeatedly inhale this Valentino off my wrist.

itsmm

After giving it some time, I like this one. Strong powdery scent with iris in the background that lasts.

G30540i

Has it been discontinued? Seems like it’s out of stock at most places and some have said they they are getting rid of their last stock so it’s possible to find it at some places. Their normal site doesn’t have it in the Uomo lineup, but their beauty site has it

Uomo Intense Iris, Vanilla and leather. These are my two current iris heavy winter scents and they are both amazing. I find the Valentino less rich but a little more versatile the Privée. I've heard the older batches were even better but I still find Uomo a great scent.

Shafaf Amin

My all time favourite perfume...smooth iris , vanilla, tonkabean combo with a leather background.. orange feel only in the opening.. i always enjoy this kind of smells.. feel very luxurious

123review

Out of other “black” bottle cousins of DHI, Givenchy Gentlemen EDP, and Prada L’Homme intense; I went with VUI because of that studded bottle. The smell is waxy vanilla and leathery. Really a screamer.

ric80

I have an old batch (22TNOYJ) (pre-neck choker)
My absolute favorite winter scent. It's extremely addictive, sexy, dark, rich, masculine, rough and smooth at the same time. It really blends well with my own body chemistry. I get unsolicited compliments quite often with this one. I prefer Valentino Uomo Intense to Dior Homme Intense or Givenchy Gentleman EDP. It performs very well, very good projection and sillage for hours and hours.

IJonFlying

For men? How on earth can this stuff be for men? I sprayed it on and immediately thought I smelled like a woman. Definitely not my style of fragrance. I am very glad that I sampled this before buying a bottle. If there's anything I've learned in my years of wearing fragrance, it's that no matter how much a fragrance is "hyped" or "mass appealing", sample it for yourself first. You'll be much happier.

bergerstadion

Smells like lipstick, too feminine, yet I'm still forcing myself to like it (let's see for how long).

Eleekkurix

Nothing more to say than love it got exacly what i wanted, but lets review
Scent 10/10
Projection 9/10
Lasting 9/10
Strongness 9/10

So id give 9,5 only thing better than this is older dior hommes

A gorgeous smelling fragrance that smells much more expensive than it costs. If I had to choose between DHI, Prada l’homme intense and VUI then I’m going with VUI. The opening is definitely the best out of all three and the dry down is just as good in its own way as the other two. 10+ hours on my skin, a must buy in my opinion.

Valentino Uomo Intense is quite unique! The opening to me is much different than the drydown, in a fabulous way. After a few hours, it projects strong! In fact it keeps going well over 5 hours strong. It’s strange. Up close it smells light, but 2-3 feet away it’s strong! I haven’t experienced this with others. The opening reminds me of Givenchi gentleman reserve privee, but not as good. Hours later it retains a hint of that, but turns into this gorgeous powdery violet type scent. It’s an intoxicating bubble around you. To be honest I was not in love with the opening and was worried. I just sampled it with 2 sprays! I’m going back tomorrow to get it!

I have a 100ml Puig version ~85% full (at shoulder of bottle. batch code 60771 with box that I'm willing to sell. Bought in December 2019. No issues.

Comes with original box. Ships from Canada. DM me if interested.

Review: Leather herbal scent, touch of sparkle from mandarin/iris. Brooding and dark, complex and smooth via vanilla/tonka. Niche quality. Powerful sillage and all day longevity. Touch overwhelming for my nose on one spray.

hvqe071

I have the full bottle now. Great alternative for dior homme intense, very long lasting as well.

orangelips11

One of the best designer fragrance

httrung32

I have no idea what the older version smells like, I think I have the new version. I bought this because some said it was like Dior Homme Intense but with more sillage. Well, after wearing it once, it is true, it smells nearly the same as DHI but the fragrance’s sillage is heavier, sweeter and more vanillic, projecting way more than DHI. It is a crowd pleaser scent, like DHI, it is classy and elegant, masculine with a touch of softness. I wore it to Church last Sunday, everybody who walked past me was like sniffing, smiling and checking me out. 🥰

KYL-DYL

For my first powdery cologne, this is amazing. Sweet iris, leather, and vanilla mixed in with the fantastic powdery note. Feels masculine and royal, like a prince from old. Did not get much of the orange/sage in the opening notes, just full-on Iris/Vanilla/Leathery goodness. The dry down is smooth. My nose is slightly inexperienced but I'm almost detecting an amber note way down below. Gorgeous regardless.

User123

@Mao Lebron, thanks for your comparison of the scents themselves. But beware (other buyers), the smooth collar can also be the first L'Oréal version. The bottle looks the same, but the bottom has a sticker instead of an engraving.
It's like this:
smooth box with square, original bottle (with smooth collar and built in atomizer), engraving on the bottom = Puig
smooth box with rectangle, original bottle (with smooth collar and built in atomizer), sticker on the bottom = L'Oréal (+/- 2019-2021)
studded box with rectangle, new bottle (with studded collar and cap), sticker on the bottom = L'Oréal 2021

All three have a different formulation.

Mao Lebron

As many may know, this fragrance has recently been reformulated due to Valentino being acquired by L’Oréal. As somebody who has used both formulations, these are my brief thoughts on the two versions.

The older bottles (Puig version) can be distinguished from the newer ones (L’Oréal) by looking at the collar. With the newer formulation you will find a spiked, studded design on the collar whereas the collar on the older bottles is smooth. The newer bottle also now comes with a cap (which is a huge bonus)

As for the juice itself, yes it has been reformulated, but it certainly has not been ruined! The two are very similar honestly, and if I had to describe the difference, I’d say the newer bottles are slightly sweeter, and with even better performance. The Puig formulation comes across a bit more masculine in the opening. Both versions are worth buying, but if I had to choose, I’d say that L’Oréal has honestly IMPROVED on this already great fragrance by Valentino.

iszzieanna

Opens with loads of powdery notes. I get that lipstick vibe people are talking about I wasn’t anticipating the sweetness of this. The vanilla is extra sweet. So sweet that the leather and Iris are almost covered. This is a lovely scent though. Just not for me

Underworlds

I’m in love with this scent, it is unreal how nothing ever compares to the smell of this. Everything fades in comparison in terms of how exquisite it is. Perfectly blended in every aspect, all the notes never overwhelm one another and it settles in such a creamy vanilla/leather/tonka bean air. It is bordering on a gourmand and half the price of one too.
I’ve heard a lot of labels to describe a man that wears this but I personally describe the vibe as: dark, brooding, mysterious, elegant, bad boy, seductive…
Formal I’ve heard is the best for this, but personally if you have any of these traits, this becomes an essential signature no matter the situation.

So addictive. So exquisite.

ixo

I recently tried this and im not sure if the reformulation is meh, or if i'm meh but I did not get good performance.
The smell is great, delicious kind of vanilla frosting vibe. I don't get a lot of leather.

The main drag was it's performance. projection was okay and lasted maybe 3-4 hours.

mostafa385

I got a 2 ml sample to try it out. Fantastic stuff, the combination of Iris & leather is awesome. Good for fall & winter. Performance is fantastic also, lasts 10+ hrs on my skin, projection/sillage not sure but think it will be ok.
Note: not sure if the sample I got was 2021 reformulation or the old one, anyway, it looks like they are almost the same fragrance as per many people reviews. I think i will get a full bottle of this soon.

Nate_915

It’s a sugary blast of sweetness in the opening, but it’s fantastic when it settles a bit. Mainly sweet vanilla, iris, and leather. This is less lipsticky and powdery than DHI. Long-lasting with strong projection. 2 sprays is all you need.

Naoto

Tested it on my wrist at the department store. Yes, I can see the resemblance between Dior Homme Intense and this but Uomo Intense is kinda sweeter than DHI and more vanilla dominant to my nose. It would be very suitable for autumn and winter and early spring, but personally I think wearing this at night in summer would be OK if I spray sparingly.

TuxFragrance18

Smells like a man in a sharkskin wool suit at a formal congregation. I got it for steal from a frend who didn't like it becouse it was too powdery for him. Keep that in mind if you plan to blind buy this fragrance. It is extremely powdery. Insane preformance and ridiculus projection. Beast mode fragrance for sure.

Ilikewhatilike

Yummy tonka and iris combo. Easy to wear when you want to be tasty, in a grown up way. I get a quick dose of the mandarin and maybe some clary sage, but but a lot on my skin. If I had to compare it to the Dior line, i'd say it's closer to the Parfum than the DHI as there is a darker vibe. Im not the biggest fan of leather, and I don't get too much on it with this, probably the tonka, iris and vanilla balancing it out. Fun bottle.

Kelz23

Wore this tonight on a date. Living in Florida and it’s not even close to cool weather but i said fuck it, ima wear it, and I Got compliments from both men and women. My wife also loved it. Definitely worth getting a 100ml bottle. I’m 30 but anybody 25 and older can rock this

lannibal2000

This stuff is absolutely amazing! I need to get a back up bottle of this stuff because I know I'm going to want to use it more than most of my fragrance's this fall/winter 🤣

clintjr82

Smells pretty good. Leather, Iris and Vanilla that smells sugary sweet are the dominant notes. Its sprays powerful but eventually goes into a skin scent as it should. A good date night, club or special casual occasion fragrance. Not great enough to buy me a bottle. This is better than the original. Overall a good designer buy. For me there's better options for me that are in the niche category.

hhe

I bought this fragrance while in a hurry at an airport smelled decent but couldn´t smell it properly in the store. 4 months later have to say don´t regret the purchase. My go-to scent is Prada l´homme so I think this is perfect for me. It´s a nighttime version of it, the iris reminds of it, but still a big difference between the two. Uomo performs well and is quite a unique scent for an interesting confident gentleman.

xtal01

I can see the appeal and its high quality, but not for me. Smells very heavy on iris and leather, made me a bit nauseous. If purple was a scent, it’d be this. Definitely for a more mature guy.

thenothingness

I need to update my review. I’ll be blatantly transparent with y’all. This frag is F fire. Makes me c00m, it’s THAT good. That dry down is UNREAL, beautifully warm and soothing, I just want to eat myself. The best piece I have in my collection, I’m simply obsessed by this one. 69420/10 would c00m again.

Dirtyhoody

Still have my old bottle and it's 85% full. I have avoided wearing it for years now since it was discontinued. I'm glad it was re-released but I haven't sampled the new one so I can't comment on how it measures up. As for the original it's a goddamn killer.

thenothingness

This is an absolute masterpiece.

Tman98

This is so so good. A lot of vanilla, long lasting, addictive.

vhild

I’m a Dior Homme Intense + Original fanboy and jeez this comes close! There is some difference I cannot pinpoint, but that’s only for the better. I really do love this.

ChristianBroFanGirl123

Oh boy how this makes me feel.
Went to my local fragrance store and was pretty keen on buying Armani code absolu. I decided to try out some of the other fragrances and it was love from the first smell.
Magical scent. A big fan of vanilla but this has so much to offer.
Even my family who are against fragrances said you could smell this was quality.
Best fragrance of my collection.
9,5/10

jokcoy

Beautiful frag. Good for colder weather. Very long lasting on my skin. Projects strong too. Could be a signature. People said that this is close to Dior Homme Intense or Gentlemen EDP. Never smelled both but I'm kinda curious because I want to have DHI. But if it's redundant, then I'd stick to this.

xsilent

Oh my god this is the best cologne ive smelled i have 10 colognes i just started this year but damn this is gas

newbie-in-frag(ame)

Yes, @User123, that is the case. The bottle's new look is pretty badarse. Plus, I think I found my signature fragrance!

User123

@newbie-in-frag(ame): if your bottle has studs on the neck, it is the latest version = 2nd reformulation

SwavScent12

Uomo Intense > Dior Homme Intense > Prada L’Homme Parfum > Gentlemen

newbie-in-frag(ame)

Hi y'all. So, someone I know traveled to the Netherlands and purchased 100ml of this juice for yours truly. I opened the box today and to my surprise the bottle looks different: there are studs on the neck of the atomizer. This was made in France, batch code 38W100B. I did some research and it seems it is pre-2016. Can anyone attest to that? Oh yeah, it smells wonderful—this is my first impression: initially the iris is very similar to that of DHI. There's something fresh and maybe 5 min into it you get a big, chunky chocolate bar. Now I get some vanilla; it's not overly sweet, though. I wore DHI yesterday and this smells different. I think the comparison is there, because the iris on DHI and VUI are similar.

P.S. It says on CheckFresh that the production date is Jan 2022 . New bottle design?

Slava29

Closer to Givenchy Gentleman EDP than to Dior Homme Intense despite what "this perfume reminds me of" says above. They are so close that you don't need them both although Valentino is slightly sweeter and performs a little better than Gentleman EDP.

dan r. rosewing

this is one of those perfumes that makes my day better, every time i get a wiff of this scent i can't help but smile.

no need for me to describe the scent as there is tons of reviews down below describing it.
i would not blind buy this even though this is one of the better designer perfumes (IMO), it just isn't very masculine.
so i would recommend to test this OR dior homme intense before buying.

this has also a very good longevity as it holds up to 24 hours on my skin, even survives the shower. (side note: vanilla scent dies out after shower so i end up with a leathery iris scent with hint of vanilla)

longevity 10/10
silage 9/10
scent 10/10

Very silky, very attractive, very Valentino.

Valentino Uomo Intense is tailored without sharp edges, sensual, typical Italian, amazes and attracts attention from all sides. A real star on a stage where thousands of iris flowers are thrown.

Valentino Uomo Intense is one of the irises you will need in your collection. Don't be afraid, it doesn't smell like Dior Homme so the purchase will not be redundant. The similarity between the two stops at the iris and that's it. While DH and his flankers give you an earthy, buttery, waxy iris flower, Valentino chose to dress the iris in a velvety, soft and very sexy leather. I have both perfumes and I do not regret, they are different and special.

Both the opening, the middle and the base blend very well. Orange juice and tonka sweeten the composition while the iris is wrapped in a silk leather making it very attractive and chic. In light of these, I can only recommend it with confidence.

It's not very versatile and that's because I don't see it worn in very elegant outfits. It is a fragrance that attracts attention, is immediately felt and goes great with romantic close encounters or evening outings in the city with friends.

Performance is good. Sillage and projection are felt in the first two, three hours and persistence on the skin 5 ... 6 hours. However, the perfume lasts a few days on clothes, which is why I recommend spraying on fabrics.

He likes autumn and winter because the cold highlights the heat generated by tonka, vanilla and iris.

A luxurious, exuberant fragrance that characterizes the Valentino house and that will give you what you are looking for, attention and self-confidence.

timecapsule96

I loved Gentleman Givenchy EDP so really what did I expect with this one? Absolutely perfect concoction that is different enough from GG EDP to warrant a purchase. It does have that makeup bag lipstick smell but it’s blended so well; if you like iris you’ll be a sucker for this one. I’d say it is definitely more for night time or more fall/winter occasions, and the longevity is wonderful I was able to smell it even after a shower. Great investment in my opinion.

Rabbaj

valentino intense is my next one !! i smell it at drug store smells amazing but for colder days !!

Chesco

Sparkling Bergamot + Mandarin Orange oil + waxy lipstick Iris + aromatic Sage + smoky Incense + Leather + dark & sweet Tonka + dark Musk + Powder + peppery Cedar Oil + dark Vanilla

Smelling it for the first & second time i wasn't impressed. Moved on to other frags to test in the store.
When i learned how special the note of real Iris is in perfumery, i became fascinated to finally smell it.
Once my olfactory started searching for this 1980's waxy buttery lipstick note, my whole journey in perfumery changed!
I became OBSESSED with Iris!! <3

This is a 'dark freshy'. It's citrus brightens up the dark dna of the other ingredients, while the Iris makes it sexy.
The Sage and Tonka do make it lean designerish, but in a good way. The Tonka makes this a dark fragrance. The Iris plays a middle support role unfortunately because i just want more & more, and for it to outside the other prominent notes. So i over-spray like a mf! lol :D It does give off a bit of a 'come hither' sexy vibe to it. And because it's such a dark fragrance, i call this my 'dark horse' frag, that really represents my personality.

On the mid-drydown, the Bergamot disappears, leaving the dna into a dark musky scent with all the other notes playing with each other in the background.
Because it does have a designer vibe to it's scent, it does last a good long while, even more on clothing. But if you spray on clothing you are not going to get as good of a whiff of the Iris as that note tends to soak into clothing and get lost. I prefer to over-spray on skin AND clothing with this frag.

It should be noted that i alerted you guys in a previous comment now deleted, that this has been reformulated in 2020 when L'Oréal purchased the line. Some say it's weaker, i couldn't really tell, maybe placebo, but it MIGHT be just slightly weaker. Most of the testers still in stores are from the older batch, and are devine!

I absolutely love this fragrance!! <3
When i heard it was being bought by L'Oréal and rumors were going around that it has been reformulated, i drove around my city and purchased x10 bottles of this...lol
But because it does have that designer scent to it, i don't wear this as often as i like because im obsessed with other niche frags i have. But this sits in my top 10 fav frags discovered of all-time. This might be in my top 3 signature scents tbh!

If the Iris was more, then this is just shy of a masterpiece!

4.5/5 Woofs!

dudebro

I have the latest formulation of Dior Homme Intense. I adore it, but DHI simply does not perform on my skin. within 4 hours it's gone, leaving me wanting more.

As a chocolatey iris with more staying power, Valentino Uomo Intense was intended to compliment DHI in my collection.

Even with a 2021 batch it outranks the latest DHI overall.

it comes down to this:
-comparing them on scent alone I would rate DHI 10/10 and VUI an 9/10.
-comparing longevity DHI is a 4/10 and VUI is easily 8/10.

the end result? Dior Homme Intense has been dethroned by the Valentino overall. DHI holds a very special place in my heart, but this Valentino is more practical.

note: I would rate the new Givency Gentleman Reserve Prive 3rd in this line up because it's scent is too boozy (whiskey), the iris is too fleeting, and longevity is worse than DHI.

I hope this helps you decide between these delicious iris yummies. if you like DHI then VUI is blind buy worthy imho.

Tomasr

My bottle is the newly reformulated version where I pick up orange and loads of nutmeg..the iris is amped up in the beginning, but it somewhat dissipates in the dry-down .. the vanilla, amber, and patchouli are detectable in the late dry down.

This is (still) a fantastic designer release as I'm a big fan of iris, and it fulfills that iris if you're wanting to take a break from DHI. I enjoy Gentleman Reserve Privée just a tad more, but this performs better.

Irvdaman15$

Great chocolatey sweet Iris.
Similar to dior homme intense , but still has its unique scent to differentiate itself from it.
Long lasting.
For colder seasons.
9/10. Wish it was available more easily.

The Wolf

I twice wore new batch from nordstrom and I didn't notice massive differences ( although I'm no expert on this fragrance) to my nose. Buttery iris reminiscent of a makeup bag and a leather drydown. But, and this isn't big deal, but I think they removed the cacao that I remember.
So if the price was the same I'd grab an older bottle.
But if you're a casual fan then the newer formulas will suffice.

Scent 7/10
Performance 6/10

Valentino Uomo Intense is NOT discontinued. I don't know why people have urge to mindlessly keep repeating this false information!

willnpc40

I have heard this has been discontinued. I was able to score a 3.4 for under $80 recently, and I am really glad I was able to. I completely agree with the reviewer below me. I absolutely love Iris fragrances as well. Dior Homme intense is nowhere near as versatile as this is. That one should only be used when you are in a tuxedo or suit and tie... And even then I would still recommend the Valentino or Prada Intense more.

IMO VUI is right up there with Prada L’homme Intense, which has also been discontinued. Why are these popular darker iris colognes being discontinued? I have heard these iris colognes are expensive to produce, so that might be one of the reasons.

But I would highly recommend picking up a bottle of this VERY soon, you can still find it at some retailers For a reasonable price, But probably not for long.

Longevity is really good. Two sprays and you will still be catching whiffs of it 12 hours later.

9/10

ScottCayeta

I am addicted to this fragrance!!! I love iris themed smells, something about them are so attractive. When I wear it, I feel on top of the world. VUOI smells so sophisticated, without it being too dark, it adds the orange on to the opening, before transforming you into the knight in shining armour.

I have smelled Dior Homme Intense and even the Parfum version, which IMO is way too dark and almost scary too wear. Something about the Valentino makes it much easier to wear, fun and more 'alive'.

If you haven't smelled any iris fragrance yet, then I recommend to go and smell it as soon as possible. Words can't describe the smell, therefore I am writing as if you have already smelled something like VUOI. Prada L'homme Intense, Givenchy Gentleman are a couple top frags.

Fragrance will last the whole night, as I mostly recommend this for night times. 8-10 hours longevity. This is the perfect date/night out fragrance. I promise you.

This has the perfect sillage, it isn't enormous but its just enough that you dont offend anyone, but you 100% will get noticed when entering the room. Actually I find it funny when I have this special ability to "stun" my friends, from time to time I just see them blankly staring and just trying to smell and process it in their mind. I have heard the "you are wearing Valentino right?" with the smiles on their faces. They know that this is my signature scent and they love it!

Bonus: This is one of the cheapest and best value iris fragrance in the market right now.

Further to my review below, I bought a new bottle, but it turns out it’s the second version of this (old bottle with no studs on neck, but with a sticker on the bottom - not the engraved bottom of the original first formulation).

In direct comparisons on my skin I can smell VERY slight differences between this one, and the new studded neck one. But it’s pretty much the same scent; any differences could be explained by slight batch variations or by the juice maturing over time.

For the first 20 mins this is ever so slightly more masculine than the newest one (in that it’s a little more aromatic and slightly less sweet). And this is maybe slightly stronger (or maybe more sprayed out than from my sample of the newest one). But essentially they smell the same. And the dry down is identical.

And both versions last much longer than my carded sample of Givenchy Gentleman EDP, and retain that special spicy something from the beginning to end which is lost in Givenchy Gentleman.

Edit: the bottle I have (2nd version) lasts much longer on my skin than my sample from the new studded bottle version. The smell is still identical, but the spray from my bottle is noticeably stronger on my skin now whereas the new one is starting to fade.

*loves_shoes*

Review is for a a sample of the new retail bottle, with studs on the neck.

This is amazing, totally unisex. A must try as it’s unlike anything else I’ve sampled. Definitely less masculine than Dior Homme Intense which I wouldn’t wear myself as it has more of a masculine drydown on my skin.

Uomo Intense has a recognisable iris-vanilla combination, similar to the original Uomo (Ive only smelled the first 2 versions of that, not the latest studded neck one), but there’s something in this that gives a much nicer drydown than the original. Something in Uomo Intense is just magical, it’s so unusual, I can’t stop reaching for it. It smells almost warm and spicy, like the effect you get from cinnamon, cardamom or something, but I don’t recognise it (I know this doesn’t match the notes listed, maybe they’ve changed like the original Uomo?!). Edit: it’s NUTMEG and JUNIPER! See my edit below!

It’s warm and spicy even though it still has that powdery iris feel, with a sweetness to it yet still very aromatic.

Bought it for my boyfriend and me to share, as we both enjoy this.
The projection is great, it lasts all day on my skin, and it’s instantly recognisable. A love.

Edit: the notes have changed slightly! From the Valentino website:
- A COLOR TOP NOTE: a Vibrant burst of Mandarin essence opens the top of the fragrance, intensified with a sweet and spicy NUTMEG facet.
- A COOL HEART NOTE: a hazy seduction of aromatic Sage oil brings earthy modernity to the fragrance’s heart, shaken by the balsamic freshness of JUNIPER berries.
- A COUTURE BASE NOTE: a lasting couture statement of sophistication is created in the earthy florality of an Iris accord, contrasted against a sensual, enveloping Vanilla bean note whose rich complexity dominates the trail.

NoseBlind70

I really wanted to like this one but I never could. I tried a few times but this is the frag that taught me that I do not like Iris.

Someone nailed it when they described it as smelling like a make up bag full of old lipstick. After that, that’s all I could smell…

meroo

One of the best, and I’ll always have a bottle of this.
Performance is great! 2.5 sprays and I still smell the one on my neck about 9 hours later!!
The scent profile is somehow sophisticated yet playful and a bit of a bad boy vibe, depends on how you wear it.
One of the top 3 most complimented scents I have, always from women!

Ecafnaem38

If I were to recommend 1 winter scent for someone that isn’t going to get multiple frags this would be it. It’s def insanely close to dior Homme intense.
Id say Tom ford tobacco oud intense, spicebomb extreme and these two would be my favorite winter scents. But valentino is easier to wear then tf and spicebomb imo

orangelips11

This one is 90% smell like Dior Homme Intense, just more well blended, To me I prefer this one more than Dior Homme Intense, very sexy Iris scent

willnpc40

@ Parfumadict. Dior Homme original is not the Iris king. Prada L’Homme is. And it’s not even close IMO. Maybe Dior was at one time, but that’s no longer the case.

For the Valentino, I was very impressed with this fragrance. I prefer it to Dior Homme. It is beautiful, sophisticated. I do see the similarities to Dior, but to me it is a much better modern take on it. It lasted 12 hours on my skin, so the quality is definitely there.

8/10- Beautiful, sexy nighttime fragrance

Parfumadict.

The opening is very masculine, It has a very sharp Iris not like DH it shares the same sharpness of the Iris you'll get from Roi D'Orient from Rituals. The dry down is unexpectedly sweet but on a bad way, not pleasant for what I was expecting. The 2022 Dior Homme Original, Is still the king of all the Iris dominant fragrances available on the market this days.
-I'm still thinking of a good way to wash off this overly sweet bad joke from Valentino Uomo Intense...-

Prunel

Starts exactly like Dior Homme Intense. Then it evolves into something extremely sweet that gives me a headache. Had to wash it down after that so I can't speak about performance or the smell after a few hours. You should try it before blind buying.

fallonkessler

I personally love this perfume, it's very rich and elegant, definitely a nightclubbing perfume or for an informal special occasion. I just love it!

Aus11n

i prefer this to DHI but not to gentleman EDP or prada lhomme intense. best presentation by far, great performance even the 2021 batch, also is a head turner with great projection. Not everyone is a fan of this DNA however but thats the be expected with all the leather iris scents. This is a statement maker for sure.

SyrianKaisar

Am I the only one that gets STRONG cinnamon roll smell from this after 1-2 hours?? I detect some tonka but vanilla and somehow cinnamon are crazy rn. Not complaining tho

RachelSeun

I am actually surprised by the comparisons to Givenchy's Gentleman to be honest. I own Uomo Intense and I have been testing out a sample of Gentleman and in my humble opinion, Gentleman is way sweeter! The opening is my favourite part about this fragrance, I love how the powdery iris and sage blends with the leather and vanilla notes and gives it the perfect balance of elegant sweetness. Uomo Intense definitely smells upscale, sophisticated, cosy and leans unisex to me. So far while wearing Uomo Intense for the first time, I have received 3 compliments however, I did have to overspray to the max because the longevity is really poor with this one. I'd say 2 hours max before it becomes a very linear skin scent. The projection and scent bubble is also subtle but I'd rather that than having poor longevity also.

MarkZero

In my 36+ collection, this started to become my daily wearer. Why? It's impeccable! Versatile and perfectly blended. If this would've been a Dior, most likeley woul be in the Private collection sold for £200+.

I was blown away by this one, excellent execution.
6 hrs longevity, more on clothes. I am a heavy sprayer so I get a full 12 hrs.
Nice bubble and scent trail, amazin uplifting scent!

2021 batch, my first Valentino so can't compare with older batches.

I love ❤️ it! Keep this gem forever Valentino!

Vince1964

The Valentino Uomo DNA is right there Bang! ...as soon as the first spray titillates your skin. Unmistakable Valentino, only better blended to leave an extremely refined aromatic woody-leathery scent. The initial opening is not rude or loud but very milky-acceptable and the dry down is even more lazy, slow yet amazing. Leathery vanilla...it smells wonderful!

A subtle fragrance but incredibly noticeable with a fabulous sillage that will garner compliments. Vanilla, Iris and Leather are prominent throughout the entire fragrance experience, all the other notes battle to get their way through being only slightly detectable to the discerning fragrance enthusiasts...Hello there! Overall, this is a winner, a beautiful all-rounder fragrance, a little pricey but I'd say worth the extra expense, and a backup bottle is probably a must.

jarno1208

I like it. Modern masculine scent for men. Very well blended. Not a single note that jumps too much in front of the other notes. Great for colder weather and night time wear. Still I feel like this DNA has been these days been used a lot in other fragrances so the uniqueness is not there, but that does not mean that it is not worth buying or having.

I have the same bottle 2021 batch I pick up leather in mine mainly in the opening along with citrus and iris. I get nothing dirty or rotten coming off mine… I can’t tell any difference between the original bottle and this one. I ordered mine from Nordstroms.

Amazing fragrance if you don’t have a 2017 or older of DHI and you want DHI I wouldn’t waist your time with the new formulation; your better off with this IMO. This is a bit sweeter than DHI and through the Mid and Dry-down starts taking a slightly different path than DHI but better still than the new formulation.

gman298429

Soooooooo classy, smooth, seductive, and mysterious. Intense has the masculine kick that regular Uomo is missing. I still think regular Uomo leans more masculine, but Intense has a much more masculine kick, which I love as a man. Truly a gentleman Boss fragrance. 9/10!

siUK

@DocRockk

Completely agree! :) All that happened is that they had changed the style of the bottle (spikes on the collar of the bottle) I have recently purchased the new style and its on sale in most shops in the UK.

DocRockk

Uomo Intense has NOT been discontinued and I don't know why half of FragComm keeps insisting that it has been. It's available on the Valentino website and elsewhere as of today. Discontinued fragrances arent still listed on the maker's website.

Tigerhoods1

You should probably buy a bottle now if loreal didn't reformulate it yet . their known for destroying fragrances with reformulations. I have two bottles 2016 and 2018 they smell the same. one of my favorites, amazing iris opening.

meroo

Excellent!! Simply excellent…!!

Mjchaelj

@claytonh42 I haven’t smelled any of the old batches but I have one from January 2021, the one with the black rectangle on the box, and it smells amazing. The performance is great, (7-8 hours) so it’s still worth buying.

claytonh42

I am I love with this scent. I recently got a 50 ml of the 2016 version and it layers so well with many of my other iris/incense/sweet scents. Are the new batches worth looking into? I've tried to find more of the early batches to no avail. If anyone has info on where to find find early batches, or experiences with the new batches, I'd appreciate it.

RayCashhhh

A creamy, sensual, vanilla with a touch of leather. The opening is okay, I wish they paired something else with the clary sage other than the orange. But the mid and dry down are easy going and solid. Comparing this with Prada L'Homme Intense and Dior Homme Intense, this is the most wearable of the three. This could definitely be a signature scent, something you wear to work or date nights. 8/10

siUK

I love this scent, a great balance of leather and sweetness. My top 3 fragrance. Has anyone tried the new style bottle (2021 release)?? Would appreciate if anyone could confirm if there is any difference in smell or performance to the last formulation. Many thanks

richmilton

To me this is the smell of a beautiful, classy and intelligent WOMAN. This is straight up female 25+ and it's sexy af. If I smelled this on my wife or any women for that matter, my t-levels would shoot through the roof, no pun intended. Gorgeous composition.

P.S. If you're a dude and love this that's cool too. Wear what you love. Maybe you can pull this off. Don't get your panties in a bunch based on my non-expert review ;)

vola_cea

This is a rougher, spicier (herbal), aggressive version of what would normally be a soft and sweet fragrance. On my skin, the clary sage and iris form an indescribably attractive accord that is entirely unique. I have been stopped more times wearing this than anything else.

This fragrance is wickedly potent. It needs to mix with skin to develop, one spray is enough. I find that some fragrances add a baseline level of attractiveness to any man, but this is not one of them. It is very polarizing and requires confidence to pull off, certainly not an "everyday daytime" type of smell.

Heelmac1968

Valentino Uomo, truly a glorious masterpiece. It is quickly becoming my cold weather signature scent. It is so well done. Starts with a nice sage and slightly floral before settling into the most awesome leather and iris smell. I have the original version of this before it was bought out. It is such a wearable fragrance. Never disappoints. It is not obnoxious, yet always there. It is sweet, but not too sweet. It is masculine. It is sexy. It is a compliment getter. Be prepared, when you wear it, you will want to sniff yourself on occasion to get this scent well into your olfactory. The scent is strong and long. The projection is very good. I think you can rock this fall to early spring (cool days only). If you can, rock this, you will not be disappointed!

PhillyFresh

This is class. It smells like smooth, clean, suede with a hint of iris and vanilla. It starts off mildly spicy and floral and turns into a soft and toned down scent. Luxurious without being obnoxious.

It's darker than the original Uomo, it doesn't have the sparkly cacao and spice. It's sweeter but also smoother.

I definitely see a resemblance to the Dior Homme line but I prefer this one. It smells more modern, less 'lipsticky', and less iris.

icemanbrfc

Not sure why, but get something similar to Iceberg Man with this one. Whether its the opening, or part of the scent. Its good though ,so cant complain.

User123

On skin, I don't notice much difference between the Puig version and the first reformulation (L'Oréal). Maybe the Puig is a bit darker at first, but after a while they both get that vanilla base. On paper strip I think the Puig one is heavier on the vanilla and leather, while in the first reformulation the citrus notes and the iris play along longer. Haven't tried the second reformulation yet (spiked cap).

Ford4630

Absolutely beautiful. Warm, sweet and intriguing. A bit similar to the Dior Homme line but ultimately a bit more wearable than DHI and DHP. I will never EVER get tired of this fragrance. Performance is fantastic and lasts for days on clothes. Uncommonly brilliant.

By the way, my 100ml bottles are dated 2016, 2018 and 2019. I would happily wear it all year round, except in high heat.

Marcjohn86

Really good fall/winter fragrance right here and for sure I do understand that similarity to the Dior Homme line but I wouldn't say they're exactly the same but rather it seems that it's inspired by the Dior Homme line. These are a little bit more accessible with the sweeter notes, this has a note that's reminiscent of a mocha or some other type of sweet coffee. It's warm, it's rich, it has that iris but there's something fresh about it too off the top. While I do think that it's a fantastic fragrance, I don't think it's quite as a high a quality fragrance as, say, Dior Homme Original. I just think there's something a little bit extra that brings that fragrance up to a 10/10, this is a very strong 9/10!

This is sexy, warm, cold weather goodness that'll last the majority of the day and a full day with proper spraying. This would be a great coffee date fragrance I think, and whoever it is you're going with will definitely think you're the best smelling guy at the shop! Easily I think it's worth $100, but I wouldn't pay more for it considering it's being reformulated and put into new bottles a la the Dior Homme line and now everyone's buying up and trying to re-sell the old bottles for basically vintage prices. Don't do it, just get the new formula or go find it for a reasonable price.

Mjchaelj

Amazing, beautiful, spectacular… words that describe Valentino Uomo Intense. It smells like the original, but with the added iris and way better performance. Just fantastic. So elegant and playful. The best designer nighttime fragrance you can buy. My favorite cologne ever!

10/10

Guinea54

Oh boy, did they reform this....

BatemansFragrances

First time seeing this in a store in 2 years aaaand yeah I'm a bit disappointed. It opens up promising with iris, leather, chocolate and some sweetness but after an hour or so the pear and vanilla ice cream kinda vanilla, take over. Iris also takes a back seat, leather vanishes.

It is addicting and good but i don't want my Dior Homme this freaking SWEET! This is the old style bottle btw. Performance is stellar.

Thank you user123 for highlighting the reformulation, not that it affects me but its good for those who like this fragrance.

A nerd named Luis

Love this fragrance. The opening imho should be a little more citrusy but its still good. The iris and tonka bean make the drydown really sweet but dont let you smell like a cake. After around 6 hours the vanilla sets in and although its listed in the notes, i dont really smell the leather. To me it smells just like vanilla and tonka bean with faint iris in the background. But anyway... try it! im sure you'll like it. Have a great day! :)

User123

@Shave-a-Ton just saw a spiked bottle online, its box says FIL #B264197/1, batch code 22U31YP. So The FIL is new.

Cioraniada

It smells like you mixed DHI with DHP. I like it. Only tested on paper but it felt like a strong fragrance. How can you be sure, you may ask ? Blow some air on the test strip, some warm air,( like you would do it to your glasses to clean them with a handkerchief ), and if test strip smells stronger after it means it's a beast. Same way can be tested if you spray on your arm.

AEZAKMI

@User123 it has now changed some notes, its not anymore tonka bean and leather i think, but smell is very similiar to old one

User123

@AEZAKMI Did you have the Puig and/or the first L'Oréal version to compare the scent itself? Apart from the performance you mentioned, do you notice that it smells different?

AEZAKMI

i have the newest batch with spikes and today tested it, 3 sprays.. my friend couldn't detect this scent ..3 hours affter aplication he smelled it once, i think its very bad performance now, ill give it another try.

Shave-a-Thon

The way to tell if there's been a reformulation for the new L'Oreal version of VUI is to check the FIL code on the box. That's the Fragrance Ingredients List code number on the last line of the ingredients. For my May, 2020 bottle, the FIL code # is B234952/1.

All L'Oreal produced fragrances have a FIL code #. You can't compare this version of VUI to the Puig verson but you can compare it to previous L'Oreal versions.

User123

@pbreslin (on how to differentiate Puig vs L'Oréal): correct! Also, if the box has the studs, it's the newest version.
So: small square box logo: Puig
large rectangular box logo, smooth box: L'Oréal 2019-mid 2021
large rectangular box logo, studded box: L'Oréal mid 2021

Freeman77

Luxurious and alluring! Creamy iris and sweet cacao. I admit: I only bought this because it was a cheaper alternative to DHI in my country. But when when spraying one on each hand and comparing VUI and DHI side by side, I am loving them both! But I enjoy the VUI a little bit better! It's more sweet, but less lipsticky than DHI, and therefore is a bit more mass appealing and draws more attention! Performs just shy of Beast mode on me. Love it! 9.4/10

pbreslin

This scent is magnificent. I saw this at a local department store in the old packaging (Batch code 80891). It was the last box left and was the same price as the newer one. They were puzzled as to why I was so drawn to that specific box.

This stuff is sexy, creamy, rich, seductive and sensual. The version I have projects quite well and the longevity is superb. I am not sure if the newer formulation has good performance. This lasted 8 hours on my clothing and about 6 hours on skin.

This is very elegant and best suited for fall/winter/colder weather. I have only been wearing this to work so I could test the performance and I have received a surplus of compliments from both genders. A married woman I work with says this smells like 'make-up sex or revenge sex', lol, whatever that means.

From my interpretation, a man wearing this is a bold, sophisticated gentleman that is daring and attractive. Test out iris based fragrances before committing to this, I strongly advise that first.

I love this scent, honestly if you can get your hands on an older formula, it is 100% worth it.

Personal Rating:
Sillage: 9/10
Longevity: 9/10
Scent: 10/10
Versatility: 8/10

Overall Rating of: 9/10

User123

@ilprincipe For all three versions (original Puig, first L'Oréal version, second L'Oréal version 2021 with the spikes) the ingredients listed on the box are the same. However, the notes listed are not the same anymore. Notes are now: nutmeg, mandarin, sage, juniper berry, iris and vanilla. So they added nutmeg and juniper berry and took away the tonka bean and the leather.

The Uomo one has been reformulated as well (for the second time already, first reformulation had other ingredients and other notes than the original), with again other ingredients and other notes.

ilprincipe

Since this dissapeared for quite some time on european discounters and now seems to be back again, can somebody comment if a reformulation took place ? Given you bought it recently.

billblm93

90% similar to dior homme parfum
this one has more vanilla
same amount of leather
very good quality
leathery iris and vanilla
i like the opening more than the drydown
performance very good
cold weather only imo
unisex and classy
good one

Deepak Vashistha

This is really nice! Very similar to Dior Homme Intense or i would say more designer version of DHI or DHP. A bit more mass appealing with more freshness and sweetness than DHI. It has vanilla which makes it sweeter. DHI has more going on with it and is the one which i personally like more. Valentino uomo intense is more easy to wear though and can give a similar feel at half the price.

Marxwick

It is a sweeter version of Dior Homme Intense.
After the sweetness settles, this becomes stunning and amazing with the Iris.
If you love the lipstick Iris in Dior Homme and Valentino Uomo Intense, never get Prada L'homme. There is none of that Iris in there.

azlansajed

My favourite Iris based fragrance so far that has good longevity. Prada L'homme smells better but way weaker in terms of strength. This smells good and also has the performance!

Maiafication

Sweet opening. Amazing iris / vanilla drydown.
A compliment getter in the office setting.
If Prada L'homme Intense is dark, this is sweet.

0505413259

Im my country it's hard to get ur hands on but it's very beautiful although dior homme intense is still better so my advice is go with the later it's longer lasting

edit: it got the sh**tiest sprayer i've ever used it squirts the juice

MadDrSparks73

I just received my 1.7oz bottle of Valentino Uomo Intense in the mail. As soon as I sprayed it on the back of my hand and smelled, I went over to my cologne cabinet and whipped out the ol 75ml Dior Homme Parfum to spray on my other hand.

Only a trained nose could pick out the miniscule differences between them. My wife cannot tell the difference, and she swore it was the same cologne until I showed her both bottles and sprayed both of her wrists. She loves it, but asked why I bought it if I have the same thing already. I didn't have the time or patience to try to explain these things to her. She wouldn't get it anyway.

So, if you have a bottle of DHP, don't waste your money on this one. If you have this one, no need to spend double on DHP.

Rotten Rebel

Dropped a review of this on my Youtube "Rotten Rebel" and all I can say is that this is one fragrance that I am insanely addicted to and one that truly pulls in a lot of compliments of the sexy kind.

Powdery blend of iris, vanilla, tonka bean and a hint of leather.. The leather is there but it takes a backseat to the rest of the notes.

Lasts anywhere between 4-8 hours on my skin, the sillage is good enough to make people notice me when I step into a room and it’s oh so good, and oh so sexy.

LOVE IT!

Vitodito

This is so so so good!

What a wonderful perfume. Iris + Vanilla, really really sexy and easy to like if you’re into sweet but elegant perfumes.

And yes, quite similar to dior homme intense but i think this is much creamier and easier to pull off.

Love it!

mo choudhury

ok first off I could do with the communities help.
I just got Valentino uomo intense from notino UK, and the bottle is different, it's not a built-in atomisers. mine has a cap and spikes around the collar or the bottle.
basically the same bottle as Valentino uomo born in Rome yellow dream.
plus, batch code doesn't match 😕
now I'm thinking is this loreal new bottle design? and that maybe they fresh batches? most of my collection is from notino, never had a problem. so I did a little searching and allbeauty uk came up with the picture of the one I'm explaining and the bottle I have (50ml)
but here's another problem, I got Valentino uomo as well, and no batch code matching for that one as well when I searched?
I will come back and update when I post a picture of it.

but as for the scent itself though for Valentino uomo intense. oh.my.days! I'm mean... it's not DHI oh my days but. oh.my.days!
where have I been? I mean, I was late to the Dior Homme party but this party here. absolute banger! same goes for the Valentino uomo 😚👌🏾

Dior Homme intense is at the dinner party.
Valentino uomo intense, is sneaking through the back door because he ruffled up some feather at the last one.

edit.
ok first things first, I take that back.
it is Dior Homme kinda "oh.my.days!"
and secondly, I have post the pictures to show the difference. so please if you get the time, do check out my profile and have a look for yourselves.
(batch code 22U30YH)

Stinky whiskey Buttons

The main notes that dominate are Iris and violett, this smells like flowers spread over a soft leather sheat in laying out in the Sun, the orange note is faint but very important... Nothing extrem about this, Its pure bliss in a bottle, my wife dose not share my love off iris and says it smells to much, so keep that in mind, the iris is The domenatrix in this parfym.

Saavmt

I first sampled this fragrance back in 2018. My nose was not trained to handle Leather/iris scents, but I was very into vanilla... still am! Anyway 2.5 years later, after hearing how "sexy" this fragrance was by YT reviewers(S/O to Buck of Big Beard Business for the VUI fragrance introduction), I Pulled the plug and searched for a full bottle. Just received my bottle yesterday(from 2017 batch). This fragrance is not only sexy, but drydown to me smells like the scent of body on body Intense sex in a bottle. It's weird because the 2019 sample I tried was awful to me! Reformulated? Untrained nose? Maybe both. But damnit man, I need another original bottle. I have scents that are for signature date night, work, home, casual out-on-the-town, seasonal day/night, and this one is DEFINITELY going to be added as the new signature date night fragrance.

10 out of 10!!

kikos66

Very different and unique. Maybe one of the best male perfumes ever created.
Way better than Dior Intense in my opinion, not comparable to anything else out in the market. Too bad it doesn't last long.
10/10 scent
10/10 bottle
5/10 longevity

Dmtmzz

This is a nice classy scent. I get powder and oranges primarily from this. I'm gonna be honest and admit I don't like it for me. Cuz I like oranges to eat, but to smell like one is a different story. But that's just me personally, cuz I have no problem smelling like other types of fruits haha.

This lasts about 7 hours on me with moderate projection. Definitely worth a try imo

dorozhkov12

Hello everyone, I decided to leave a review about this composition right now, they say, after they began to produce the aroma in France, it changed, it seemed, it lost its durability, and so on, listen, I have 3 bottles of different years of production 2016 2017 2020 and there is no difference between them, they are absolutely the same in resistance to the train and density.
