Secret d'Essences Neroli by Yves Rocher is a Floral fragrance for women. Secret d'Essences Neroli was launched in 2013. The nose behind this fragrance is Veronique Nyberg. Top notes are Bitter Orange and Petitgrain; middle notes are Neroli Essence and Orange Blossom; base note is Musk.

Yves Rocher Secret d'Essences Neroli is a new fragrance of the top quality collection Secret d'Essences which includes the following fragrances: Rose Absolue, Tendre Jasmin, Voile d'Ambre, Vanille Noire and Iris Noir. The new fragrance Neroli was created as homage to beautiful orange blossom, depicting its scent, the scent of bitter skin of fruit, scent of leaves (petit grain), while uniting the ingredients in a harmonious composition which accentuates bitterness and power.

Top notes of Neroli edition provide luminous drops of bitter orange, announcing a bouquet of white neroli and orange blossom absolute. Irresistible luminosity fluttering in the air is softened with musk, offering a sensual signature. Natural agreement between abundance and innocence makes a seductive twist with shades achieved by composing this fragrant ode.

The fragrance was created by perfumer Veronique Nyberg who provided essences of bitter orange and petit grain in top notes. The heart is tempting us with a blend of neroli and orange blossom absolute, embraced by sensual musk in the base. The new fragrance Neroli arrives in a milky white bottle, as 30ml and 50ml, available as Eau de Parfum.

It smells like a winther version of neroli and orange blossom. It’s cold, clean and powdery. One spritz will last all day.

I you love strong neroli scents I would recommend this for winther and Belle d’Arles by Fragonard for summertime.

natalka999

If you want a strong simple neroli cent that smells like summer this is for you. I would get this if youre looking for a neroli sent instead of expensive ones like from tom ford etc.. Simple and beautiful.. And its not that sweet like most neroli sents .. this one to me could even be unisex

TaniaClamp

WOW!! What just happened here?? This is so good 😍....

I agree with people who think this is similare to Knot by Bottega Veneta and Neroli Portofino by Tom Ford, WOW!! What a hit :)

Sophisticated and refined at the same time very womanly and seductive. I can clearly smell the neroli essence, the bitter orange and the musk.... which makes the scent very sensual.

Oh my !!

It seems to be discontinued 😥

I don't remember if I wrote a review for this one, but I've been off and on with it. On it's own I find it too sharp. It smells good layered with YR Vanille Noire. I tried wearing it on it's own last summer and it was just too sharp, so I put it in my 'get rid' bag, lol. I just took it out today and sprayed it over my Molinard Patchouli. This smells lovely. I'd recommend using it as a layering tool. I'm going to try it with the other perfumes from the Secrets d'Essences line.

Agnes81

On my skin it opens fresh, bitter-green and flowery. The dry down is softer with the added white musk - but still mostly citrus and crisp white flowers. Very well made and natural smelling for the price. I get almost non of the sweetness others are writing about. Secret d'Essences Neroli is cool, refreshing, clean and elegant - perfectly unisex. I actually think I would prefer this on my husband as I feel it is a little to sharp and green for my taste.

My favourite perfume ever

greenviolets

I got this as a sample from ebay, in a mini version of the original bottle. This is a great inexpensive dupe for neroli portofino, albeit less complex. If i smelled this wafting from someone, my nose wouldn't know the difference. On my skin, it has white floral & neroli, but none of the green in np. Its such a clean and serene perfume. it makes me feel like i'm sitting on a warm summer lawn, smelling white blossoms. I used to wear neroli portofino to work because it is refreshing and universally loved, some people feel it is more soapy, this one is more floral. I'm going to save this for late spring, when the temperature is warm enough for my skin to heat up the fragrance more than it is doing right now.

**I recently bought a small sample of 10% neroli oil from eden botanicals and it is perfect. If you can't find this anymore, I recommend buying the neroli oil from this vendor

oceanbreeze

The first time I smelled it I did not like it - it smelled soapy. However, now I adore it! This fragrance smells very elegant and expensive. I imagine a classy woman wearing a white dressy pantsuit with elegant 18k white gold & diamond jewelry.

pepperoniann

I'm always up for scents ladened with bitter orange and this one does not disappoint. It does have a very synthetic, but appealing(!!), glossy sweetness to it, akin to "hard candy" like others described. I usually prefer natural-smelling florals but oddly this is a hit. The overall impression is floral, sweet, uplifting with much freshness from neroli and bitter orange. White musk appears through all stages yet this is not soapy compared to some other orange blossoms on the market - Bottaga Veneta Knot comes to mind.

I got my 50ml bottle half off when they were discontinuing Neroli and clearing out inventory. However it is a unique enough neroli that justifies the retail price. Neroli lovers should at least try a mini when they're still around. On me it's very long-lasting with moderate silage.

KarolaFragrance

Quite uplifting, white flowers mixed with a lot of sugar. I like it, however I think it would be better with less sugar and more green notes. Great for spring, in summer can be a bit cloying becuase of the sweetness.

gmr1967

Very powerful explosion of orange blossom at the first scent. Sweet, enveloping, intoxicating .... but it lasts the time of a breath. Then the fragrance stabilizes into a full, sensual, serenely citrus sweetness. Excellent excellent fragrance! Average duration. But you can forgive such a good perfume!

raluu

Indeed, this perfume was a gem, so fresh&delicate, but yet so strong. It is perfect for an evening on the beach or staying on a seaside terrace.
I am keeping carefully my last bottle since it was discontinued - what a pity!- because it reminds so clearly the evening when I was proposed.
For the faithful lovers, a similar version would be: Jasmine Immortelle Neroli - L'Occitane !!

Proximo

If you are a neroli lover don't sleep on this one. It's being discontinued in several European countries.
Great alternative for TF neroli, natural smelling beautiful fragrance.

octobertragedy

YR is a company that surprised me for so many times. This is a bad one. You either love or hate this fragrance, there is no in between. Like all of us, I am a huge fragrance lover and I try to give the minimum respect to all of them, but sadly, I truly hate it.
Obviously I liked it when I tested it, but i started hating it in a few days. It could have been a bad batch or something...
Smelled like rotten, bitter leaves or flowers. A vague hint of mandarin zest still lingered. Since then, I realized that Neroli is not for me because I also dislike some other Neroli based fragrances like Oriflame's Miss Giordani.
Huge disappointment so please try it before purchasing.
Not a very safe blind buy imo.

raiza1990

Smells like a good soap. It’s very pleasant, simple, smells natural. Something to wear with an all white outfit. Sillage is soft, longevity is moderate.
I recommend it to people looking for an elegant and linear citrusy scent. Something clean for warm days.
Final note: 7,5/10

Upps, how could I have forgotten to write a comment on this beauty??

-I blame it on the nights of Broadway? Well, this is how it feels, I'm somewhere else with this scent... I want this perfume to last and last, it must never ever become empty, cause my brain is so much addicted to it, I'm brain damaged of it, in a very good way!!

Yes, there is that famouse Tom Ford note in it, neroli, I want them both, and I can't tell what I want, I said "I'm brain damaged" of this intoxicated smell, I'm so much in love with it,

bai-bai world, soon I will have another bottle to spoil myself with, 12/10, and update: I bought a backupbottle, phew, lucky me :D

trabuquera

Budget charmer with unexpectedly long legs and some moments of real beauty. Clean, fresh, almost daringly acerbic & nearly-bitter at first, mellowing through a slightly awkward soapy phase after a couple of hours into a lovely almost-powdery, more woody phase which might really be an economy musk, but which carries itself like niche petitgrain. My skin kills most things - especially citruses - off fast, so it's an extra surprise and a delight to get the odd waft and puff of the sweeter, more powdery late stage as many as 6h after application. Light, basic yet elegant bottle only adds to the charm. Seems sweet enough to lean slightly on the femme side to me, but wearable for any real lover of neroli - to anything, anywhere.

No, it's nothing like as complex or wow-worthy as upscale things like Guerlain Neroli Outrenoir or Tom Ford Portofino or Lutens Fleur de Citronnier/Oranger, but then again it's less than a quarter of the price of those, and at least 80% as good. If neroli is your note, this ought to be an automatic audition. With a small bottle of this in your bag from spring to summer, you would NEVER smell less than gorgeous. It's a true contender, punching way above its weight. Genuinely impressed. Give it a chance; I can't imagine anyone regretting it.

elmccullar

There’s something harsh and un-blended about this perfume. There’s a weird bubble gum under note and i just don’t care for it. Also, it didn’t last an hour on my skin.

audreyh

I got this a few years back in February, and even though the flower notes are strong and I see a lot of people use it in the spring and summer, it will forever be a winter and early spring perfume for me. It's a bitter flowery scent. Not too flowery, just enough. I love it and it's one of my favourites. It's quite long lasting and even though I usually wear it in the day, in summertime I guess it would be perfect for nighttime too.

Proximo

I wouldn’t say this is a safe blind buy because of the bitter orange note. It is a lovely fragrance though and 10 times cheaper than TF Neroli Portofino.

UnearthlyApothecary

This somewhat reminds me of an old discontinued drug store favorite, Coty Wild Orange Blossom. The silage is softer and the composition is more refined and elegant. A very lovely scent that I highly recommend to lovers of sweet orange. That musky heart is to die for. As always the high quality botanical ingredients that Yves Rocher uses are very obvious.

Mingailė

Is it a safe blind buy?

thechantal

The quality of this perfume has surprised me. It has sillage and is long lasting and the biggest surprise judging by the price: it actually smells like neroli. It smells natural.

The down is that it is a really simple scent, we shall not expect layers much or transformation. Of course, it does adapt to the skin, but it stays the same all in all. It`s simplicity and brightness, with a slight bitterness makes it a summer daytime scent.

Verdict: I like it. I can see myself wearing it ocassionally on family events or hiking, times I don`t need to feel particuarly sexy. The time I tried it I went to the cinema with my brother. It was perfect for the occasion.

It is a kind and feminine smell, but far from sexy or elegant. A dowtime, chilltime fragrance.

cedar_lea

Crisp and bitter at first but it gets more floral as it settles. Occasionally there is a perceptive orange note, but not often. As it dries down it gets almost soapy, but to my nose it's more of a salty musk (which I love) and then the orange blossom stands out again. This is very summery to me.

Upon further reflection I have to say that the petitgran really makes this special. It grounds the scent in an herbal greenness that makes the citrus and floral aspects blend beautifully and feel very natural.

Harpalike

Very natural and prominent neroli fragrance, almost the same as those that I use for cooking. It is dry and bitter in a very pleasurable way. The base is creamier, a bit soap-like, than the opening. Great choice for the spring and when you need confidence and determination.

Lucyana

Its a good fragrance for neroli lovers. Its almost bitter. Apropriate for spring and early fall, to sweet for me to wear it in the summer heat.

Pavleena

This perfume starts with a blast of bitter orange on a green background of petitgrain. Eventually it gets sweeter and flowery, but the bitter note persists for a long time. The musk base gives this perfume a clean overall impression.

It smells similar to Knot by Bottega Veneta, but with less sweetness and more green notes.

The sillage is moderate and it lasts about six hours.

All in all, this is a good choice for the office friendly perfume in a warm weather.

Nikkafragrance

I was considering to purchase it, but I changed my mind. On my skin the bitter orange is too strong and has that menthol aspect I can't stand in L by Lolita Lempicka. The drydown is not bad though, however still it's not the perfume for me. It's not a neroli dominant fragrance and I find it too heavy for summer.

vattenmelon

this perfume is so strong and a little irritating to my nose maybe because it smells like theres only ONE note in it,

but still i have to say the fragrance is Beautiful, i smelled it on a woman on the bus and i just wanted to buy it right away and tell her that she smelled Amazing. but since its so strong im thinking about buying the body lotion instead, i really want it for this summer....

Suomineito

At first I hated this. It was because this isn't a sweet flower perfume but a green, natural vibe giving scent. I'd never before smelled neroli. This was a first. I had a 5 ml sample and took it with me to a friend's summer cabine. Wore it there every day and ended up loving it more than the other Secrets D'Essences perfumes. I smell bitter green neroli with a clean citrus note. A great combo and with this fragrance Yves Rocher knew better than me what I'd like if I gave it a chance. I have repurchased a full size bottle.

Pavlina666

It's a beautiful perfume, created for spring and summer days. Very fresh, clean, bittersweet scent of orange blossoms and citruses. On rainy days, like this one today, this scent gives me a good feeling.

mystica

Not what I expected... Bitter orange (the fruit) really comes up here. If your reference point for the neroli scents is the vintage Neroli by L'Occitane which had smelt absolutely like the real deal, you may not be satisfied here.

In its own right that's a very good fragrance, but a true to the core orange flower or a very realistic neroli it isn't.

no-fi

A pleasant neroli and orange blossom blend with a smooth musk base and just a touch of candy sweetness. It's good, but never reaches the symphonic heights of Eau Des Sens or the bitter crunchiness of Lumiere Doree. Still, it's a lovely wearable neroli scent that can be had for a steal.

spinderella

This one is not discontinued. Yet. But how does it smell? On me it has a bit of a 4711 eau de cologne vibe, but with more body. It has a sweetish base, almost vanilla. Maybe it is Yves twist on musk.... But it is lovely for the first days of spring, when I start to turn from heavier amber/incense notes I tend to prefer in winter to fresher and greener summer-perfumes. Nice and fresh, but not too light.

esteban747

The bitter orange is very obvious at first ( I smell mandarin too), so is alcohol but just for a few seconds.
And then, yes, neroli. Green, a tiny bit spicy and sweet.
It's a simple fragrance. Smells natural. Sillage on me seems to be minimal.
It develops quickly, I can smell a vague hint of geranium and musk.
A nice fragrance but I'm not crazy about it.

Madrona

This is great. I have a mini that's completely clear and it fits this scent perfectly. I had imagined it to be a bit muskier/cooler/airier/fresh watery/cologne-y than it actually is, but I actually don't mind. There is a teeny tiny bubblegumminess to the orange flower which works well with the bitter orange and petitgrain, neroli of course being the star player. Love.

HelloGigi

I incidently got a little sampler bottle of Neroli. I dislike citrus and bitterness in a scent, especially orange, so this perfume wasn't going to impress me. Was I wrong!

YR Secrets d' Essence Neroli is good and I keep sniffing my wrist as the scent devellopes. Just by caracter not my favorite, but recommendable and a welcome addition to any perfume collection, for those days in spring or summer you just want to go to Italy but still have to wait for the holidays to start.

nvenus

Orange zest, white floral, soap and powder - that sums up my first impression of this edP. It's definately not a bad blend but it's too plain for my taste. This is how I'd like to smell after a shower; it's a very clean scent/perfume and I love that. I also really like the bottle, it matches the scent.
Suitable for all occasions and times since it's an everyday scent. Perhaps not the best fit for a party night...
I don't want to like or dislike it; it's not bad but there are so many scents like this... Do we really need another one?

Suzybee

Quite possibly the best Neroli- Orange Blossom scent, ever. It was love at first sniff. YR gave me a free sample bottle and I can't stop sniffing the cap or my wrist when I wear it. I've ordered a larger bottle that should be here, soon.

I agree, that it does smell like TF's Neroli Portofino. But I think this one smells more feminine and goes well with my skin's chemistry. Lovely!!!!

For The Love of Perfume

OOOOOHHhhhhhh.....what a beautiful , fresh, slightly musky scent. Not too heavy. I wish I could bathe in this. Sooo seductive, and sensuous. I love putting this on before bed, it is so soothing and calming. My new favorite scent. My husband can't stop smelling me....

shalimaraddict

This is one of the best neroli scents I have ever tried! It is so light and fresh. It's simple, but so beautiful.

snoopyQ

Very pleasant citrusy musky smell. Clean and uncomplicated. Does indeed smell like Armani Code Luna.
Nice everyday scent.

curlykitty8

Once again, Yves Rocher has surprised me with one of its seemingly simple fragrances!
Secrets open with a fresh and woody neroli burst but then quietly evolves into a creamy, almost lemon meringue delight, remindful of and even prettier than Laura Mercier's Tarte au Citron.
Not only is this version very reasonably priced but it's readily available and you don't even have to spend a lot to smell delicious!

Jessica777

What a beautiful fragrance! I blind bought it and immediately fell in love with it while on a trip in Spain this spring.. And it is just perfect for this time of the year!.. Such a beautiful resemblance to orange blossoms in streets and parks of Sevilla.. All this romantic, festive feeling in a bottle! I am staying in love with this beauty..it is on the top shelf of my all time favourites. Thank you, Yves Rocher! :)

wendyha

Sophisticated, refined, heavy mature but subtle scent, bittersweet, a bit sharp, but also womanly and seductive. Not as fresh and sunny as the name and the notes would suggest. Untill I smelled this scent, I always equated citrus exclusively with freshness, but because of this scent, not anymore, now I know that citrus can also smell bitter.

I also own Guess Seductive, which is also created by Veronique Nyberg, but the scents really have nothing in common. I really expected this scent to be more like Guess Seductive, a scent that makes you happy, that lifts your spirit up and is fresh and sweet, that is the association that I have with neroli.

Years ago I owned the Neroli Jasmin eau de toilette from The Body Shop (they don't produce it anymore), that obviously had neroli in it, that scent was really light, and made me happy, unfortunately, it barely had any longevity. So I was expecting something more like that as well, but of better quality. Yves Rocher has proven time and time again to me that their scents have better longevity and more depth than those of The Body Shop.

What I got instead is totally different and special. I expected something watery, but Secret d'Essences Neroli is bittersweet, I can clearly smell the bitter orange skin, and allthough I didn't expected it, it is a nice surprise, that makes this scent a lot more mature than I anticipated. The musk really makes this a sensual scent as well. I was expecting a summerfragrance, but I got a scent that is so fullbodied, that it is suitable for all year, even at Christmas time, because the scent of bitter orange peel, also makes me think of winter and Christmas. It is also a calming perfume and therefore suitable for all occasions, all through the year.

medea_svenspoa

Very very similar to both Knot by Bottega Veneta and Neroli Portofino by Tom Ford (which is ridicously overpriced...), so you can imagine how happy I was finding out this!
I think is a unisex perfume, light, sweet citrus so perfect for the summertime! (it reminds me of the orange blossom water used for bakery, which I love!)

Amalfi Coast in a bottle.

ana hen

For my opinion this fragrance good for lovers of oily, sweet , spicy perfumes.its not delicate neither fresh for me:).

Neroli y.rocher have to be golden liquid at quite bottle with some crystal on it and rename to "mistery of love" . Strong fragrance I can feel sugary flowers ,hot tropic night and sweet lemonade without desired coldness.

I have small bottle ,using at winter for long wallk outside . otherwise for me it too much strong.

Jez

WOW! Such a surprising fragrance! I've never smelled orange blossoms in real life, and never smelled a neroli perfume before, but if this perfume is reminiscent of orange blossoms, then wow! What a beautiful, unique, slightly bitter, but addictive fragrance! I can't stop sniffing my wrist. I loved this out of the bottle, but when first sprayed on the skin, it smelled artificial for around a minute, but when it settled down, it's just so ... refreshing is not the right word... but feminine, and beautiful, and light (but not bland!) and elegant! With that slight bitter undertone that doesn't let it be generic. If this is what neroli smells like, I will certainly be on the lookout for more...

loonad

Unfortunately this doesn't work in my skin. on paper it is lovely but it smells of petrol on my skin. very sad.

Mysterio

I'm not seeing the comparison to Tom Ford's Neroli Portofino. Portofino smells like a generic sporty-citrus to me, whereas this is more distinctively neroli with an orange tone and slight powdery undertone. I really like it and it will probably replace Annick Goutal Neroli as my go-to because this is cheaper and has longer lasting power for me.

Shiffy

Citrus and neroli . Very similar to Tom Ford Neroli Portofino. But YR is much cheaper than Tom Ford. Fragrance perfect for summer. Si tratta della versione economica di Tom Ford Neroli Portofino.

fuzzybutt59

I'm guessing that all who compare this with TM's Alien are just jumping on a bandwagon started by someone with no knowledge of either fragrance. However it can be compared with TM's Cologne, simply because of the common notes of petit-grain and neroli.

Annnelii

I was VERY surprised when I first smelled this perfume. I wasn't expecting such a high-quality scent from Yves Rocher. I loved everything about it. It's a bit bitter but sweet, fresh but musky. Perfect day-time fragrance. The only "beef" I have with this perfume, is that the longevity is quite weak (2 hours max). I cannot stand when a gorgeous perfume disappears so quickly. Also I'm allergic to the perfume, so I have to limit how frequently I spray it on.

pushya

It was look like a snob, cold, middle age man. I don't know, maybe I'll miss him.

ana hen

Love me -love me not. I can wear it at micro doses at cold weather - than it will song tender but prominent song -sweet as hard candy ,crystal fresh with some bitter liquor accord.

I really don't like plactic bottle cup -very cheap expression and for example perfumes of y . sistelle that cheap as dragstore hand cream have more sophisticated package.

Neckromancer

I smell ginger, and that's why I'm not a huge fan. But it is fresh.
Edit: I change my mind. I smelled it from the bottle when I made the review. On my skin, it smells lovely.

Konga5000

Discontinued ? YES. So sorry!
Heavenly beyond sweetness candied Neroli. This is my "bedtime" pillow frag spray. I will savor my half bottle .

kimpoels

I adore this scent. Husband hates it, but I love it. Makes me feel powerful, clean and sharp. It is spicy, but with a little sweetness. I have to try this in colder weather, I only used this during summer. I would certainly rebuy!

Kalitera

Still cannot make my mind about this one... The smell is beautiful, yes. But! The dry-down is quite unpleasant, and since it doesn't last long - 30 minutes of orange blossom and... you are stuck with the air freshener smell.

anna.panic

I did not like this perfume at all! On me it smells very much as Thierry Muglers: Alien, a smell I really don´t like! It makes me feel nauseas and give me headache... So I am giving this away to a friend.

dsty

For a long time, I thought I didn't like orange blossom/neroli at all. It reminded me of nylon stockings, or as someone else has put it so aptly on this page, oranges dipped in gasoline. But I seem to have embarked on a quest to sample every perfume in the world, and so I kept encountering this note. And I'm glad I did, because the more familiar it becomes, the more I appreciate it. It really is a good example of an acquired taste; though I still understand the association with nylon stockings, I can't remember what I didn't like about it anymore.

And if you're into orange blossom, like I apparently now am, this Neroli from Yves Rocher is very much a must-try. At this price you don't have much to lose, and it's one of the best pure neroli scents that I've smelled (though they're admittedly not so numerous). Yves Rocher are really unbeatable when it comes to price/quality, I often wonder how they keep in profit at all.
In fact, amazingly, even with a drawer full of niche and expensive perfume (samples), this is the one I turn to when I want something classy. This smells very grown-up without making me feel old, quite elegant without making me feel like I'm trying too hard, and not synthetic at all. To me it's pure orange blossom, enhanced by the musk. I don't get any of the zesty opening notes, I'm instantly envelopped in a pleasing and not too heavy cloud of neroli, and it stays with me all day. I think it fits all seasons as well, and all ages but the very youthful.

So full marks for this one; I'll definitely get a full bottle if I finish the mini I got for free in one of their regular sales, probably at a steep discount as usual. Recommended to anyone who likes neroli, and especially a godsend for those on a budget!

kikiena01

Moments after spraying it on my skin, it smells kind of sour. But after it settles in I absolutely adore it. What a lovely sweet and natural fragrance! So light and radiant. Very amusing.

It actually reminds me a little of Armani Code for women (which i don´t like at all). But "Neroli" is so much better. I should start using it more. Especially in this time of year.

GREETINGS FROM THE CZECH REPUBLIC! :)

rasteria

Most artificial scent I've ever smelled. Smells like laundry detergent. No similarities with real neroli smell. Meeh...

boutlagh

the best orange blossom perfum that I've tested so far. crisp and overwhelming (compared to the other perfumes from the same cathegorie). it's as if they took the lemons+ orange flowers+ orange tree leaves and squeesed them together to get this juice; refreshingly bitter and naturally sweet.
However, this perfume-because it's all about citrus and orange blossom- is not to everyone's taste, some people I know didn't like it at all including my mom. I also heard one of my male students complaining about how strong it smells. But all in all, it's a great perfum if you like citrusy scents and orange blossom.

w_nmbo

It's a nice, sweet and joyous orange. Yet fresh enough to be perfect for a hot weather. Great spring - summer fragrance.
Somehow it reminds me of Code for Women by Giorgio Armani, but watered down and without the bitterness that I sense in Code.

lfarinas

I wanted to like this one but nope, smells like room spray on my skin :'(

LuluCoconut

I was pondering for some time between this and L'Occitane's Orchydee/Neroli. The latter is just too plush-y and sweet for summer, for my taste. I've had a crush for the YR Neroli ever since it came out, but I never got to buy a bottle until now, at a heavily discounted price.
YR Neroli starts with a bitter-sweet, aromatic sour orange, which is refreshing and not at all sweet. It smells indeed elegant, but not really cold and distant. In this bitter-sweet pulpy orange tissue, there seem to be strains of leather and greens. At least I do get something that reminds me of leather or maybe soil or beeswax. Calling it a chypre note would be far-fetched, but it does add character.
With time, the fragrance warms up and the orange blossom surfaces, displaying a white flowery and a dry vanilla facet. For all the times I've tested YR Neroli in colder weather, I'd never got this sweet vanila-like note. It still manages to stay away from getting too sweet, but I must say I get a relieve, when the fragrance returns to being more more clean/soapy that waxy again. I do love this quality of YR Neroli and the musk in the base is very lightweight. It does not feel artificial (the way Moment de bonheur appears to be, in my opinion) and it is marvelously complex and balanced for a hesperide affordable perfume. It is great in summer, but I see it as a year-round staple. I've been told I smell like summer breeze wearing this, I'd say this is a legit description. The shower gel and lotion are a bliss as well. Signature worthy. Bravo, cette fois-ci, YR!

Evelyn Orchid

Orange blossom all the way. Today I've tried this perfume and it's a true, genuine Neroli scent, on a slightly bitter and green side with just the right amount of the citrus freshness, in addition to its flowery and musky side. There's a powdery undertone I get as well. It's a casual scent that captures a natural flow and makes it so correct and somewhat righteous that at certain point you'd like it to be a bit capricious, just in spite of its principled virtue. And for the righteous I intend that it restored an authentic orange blossom creation. So it all turnes into a pleasant experience thinking whether something could go in a different direction, but no. No dramas or ambiguities here. Just a beautiful spring/summer fragrance when you feel like for a burst of neroli effervescence. Longevity seems quite moderate though....

rasteria

Just recieved my mini bottle of this frag, first opens whith fresh citrus sour scent, but transforms on my skin to white flowers with creamy base. I wish there was no musk in it, it makes it clean and generic on the drydown. Not very long lasting. I was looking for pure neroli perfume, and this one is sweet citrus, not quite what i was looking for.

Sniezel

Still haven't decided whether I like or kinda love this. I really want to love it but it smells a tad bit too sharp to me, I really love the scent of orange blossom but Neroli has a bitter note to it. The bitterness tends to linger on my skin, not in a disgusting way but enough to make me feel slightly uncomfortable. Apply moderately, it's a spicebomb.
Smells somewhat soapy after a few hours, which I really like.

Ulusia

I was hesitating between BV Knot and YR Neroli. IMO they are similiar. Perhaps YR has better longevity, I still can smell it on my clothes. BV Knot was undetectable after a while on my clothes - even I sprayed it liberatly at mall. The only big difference I found was price. So I bought YR NB.
By the way YR launched it first, so we can assume that BV was inspired by it :o)
The only drawback I find is that YR doesn´t produce body lotion. So I bought their tradition de hamman cream, which is 80% similiar.

MoonSparrow

Unremarkable, generic, watery cheapo neroli. I am actually hard-pressed to find the neroli in it. It smells as cheap as it is and lasts all of 30 minutes on my skin. It is not offensive which may be even worse than being offensive because at least if I hated it I could find something interesting to say about it. I have heard raves about this and do not understand it. I want so much to find a vibrant, sexy orange blossom like LUSH's discontinued one and this one smells the least like neroli of all that I've sampled. It's boring. And I actually bought a mini of this; a waste of money even at the cheap price. This is my first and last purchase from Yves Rocher.

Kateri81

This is very beautiful and radiant bitter-sweet citrusy scent embedded in the musky base. It has a clean and sensual vibe. As I was able to compare lately, it resembles Knot by Bottega Veneta (which I love) except the lavender untertone, which gives it a slight suede texture. 'Cos the silage and longevity is the same with both, the price is what matters. And Neroli by YR is the winner!

Fhaldara

I just got a mini EDP of this, and its absolutely lovely. Neroli is one of my favorite scents as long as its not too sweet or mixed with too much vanilla. This has some bitterness thanks to the petitgrain which balances out the sweetness of the orange perfectly.Drys down to a light musky note. Longevity and sillage are good for this kind of fragrance. I like Yves Rocher fragrances, and this one is going to be a favorite - will have to buy a bigger bottle!
UPDATE: Well, I've just ordered a fb - I've tried many neroli fragrances, and find this to be every bit as good if not better than others, including the more expensive ones!

Fizzy

Beautiful neroli, the smell stays the whole 6 hours on the clothes the same, light, fresh daily fragrance.

scentofpeace

Oddly enough, this smells like skin.
And I do mean skin in a very pretty way.
It says "Pretty" in a white, clean, floral sort of way.
But when I say floral, I don't mean traditional floral because I am confident that those who dislike florals would actually love this.
If I can help you picture it, I would say that if you are looking for that special scent that is "quiet" but emanates off of you naturally to the point where people say "you smell good" but they don't even detect you are wearing perfume, I would say that it would be true of this particular perfume.
So, in my opinion, it doesn't smell EXACTLY like neroli, but that's a good thing, because you'll smell even better to everyone else.
You'll smell special, in a very inoffensive and casual way.
And I think every woman could use a perfume that doesn't smell too perfumey, but instead is perfect for light, casual wear.

altair

To my nose Neroli Secret d'Essences is a floral chypred perfume. And the chypred part of it jumps at you and knocks you out the second you press that atomizer. After an hour it calms down a little bit, but it's still very much there. And it will be there for the next 12 hrs and beyond. So apply with caution. One puff and it's enough or else you'll end up suffocating everybody on a 100 m radius from you.

edge42

If Neroli Portofino had a glamorous twin sister, this would be it. Beautiful, high-quality and uber-feminine alternative for the female fans of Neroli Portofino. Performance is excellent as well.

Thumbs up!

Oops, I'd never heard of Yves Rocher until this afternoon.
I wandered into a store, noticed the milky white Neroli bottle, picked it up and smelled it.
Wow.
At last!
I've been wearing Flowerbomb (V&R) and Chance (Chanel) for the last 8 years or so and I've been on the lookout for another fragrance to add as a signature. I have toyed with the idea of buying Light Blue (D&G) but never taken the plunge.
A few months ago I bought a bottle of Angel (T.Mugler) but it's really too strong for me so now it's my deluxe, decadent bathroom spray.

Well, I finally found my new signature scent today!

I smelled a few others but kept returning to the white Neroli to make sure it was true: there is another perfume I can possibly love as much as Flowerbomb.
Musky, floral and simultaneously masculine and feminine - what a blend.

I'm happy for the ladies who manage to get this on sale - I paid top dollar and gladly too. When you've been searching for a beautiful fragrance for as long as I have, I just couldn't leave it on the shelf!

The real kicker: it doesn't smell cheap.

In mood

It's one of the best scents of Yves Rocher. Very elegant and feminine.

Mnekb

I was born and raised in a Turkish city in which has a lot of orange and bitter orange trees. In springs, all streets smell like neroli and orange blossom. Secret d'Essences Neroli reminds me of my hometown. This is the most realistic neroli and orange blossom i've ever smelled. Need i say more?

Nostalgia and homesickness...

Sassy1

Personally, I love the top of bright bitter orange and wish it lasted longer than a minute or 2. The bulk of this fragrance is a soft orange blossom musk. It has a fresh lift to it but also verges on masculine at the same time, possibly from the petit grain.

All in all, YR Neroli is a tender scent, not a citrus powerhouse like Guerlain or TM EDC's. It also has minimal sillage, a little disappointing for an EDP, very much like Adrienne Vittadini parfum.

And, Narciso Rodriguez has nothing to worry about...it is still my favorite in this category with it's wonderful depth and strength. Laura Mercier's Neroli is another standout and remains true to it's femininity.

Update: I wore this today and applied to every pulse point plus a few other places and as I suspected, it's a skin scent with minimal projection and 3-4 hour longevity. Not a re-purchase contender for me.

df21

I only tried this perfume today and all I csn say is, even though it's not exactly my kind of scent, it was quite a pleasant surprise, especially for its longevity. It's almost unbelievable how far a drop of this can go and how long it lasts (its not too strong, but its very concentrated so be careful. If only all Yves Rocher perfumes could last this long!...
I have to agree with the other reviewers who didn't like the first notes. I had the same feeling too. But after waited 5 or 10 minutes and tried it again it was much softer and lighter.
I don't find any similarities to Alien by Thierry Mugler whatsoever, like some people said. But then again, perfumes develop differently according to our body chemistry.

Agafia

This would make a perfect man's scent. Guys please consider this one! ; )

saeglopur

Veronique Nyberg's creation is honey-sweet, fizzy, and a little bit bitter -- if you steeped neroli in club soda, this is probably what it would smell like. As with all neroli and orange blossom-based fragrances, it reminds me of my childhood. Breathing in also calls to mind doves, orange sunsets, and garden parties with flowing white sundresses and blackberry tea-cakes soaked in a mixture of wildflower honey and orange blossom water. In sum: pure, carefree joy and musky comfort.

The bottle is simply divine. It's made of clear glass, wrapped in a milky white gradient with sparse lettering and topped with a matching cap, befitting of the juice. Secrets d'Essences Neroli is suitable for daytime and office wear due to its soft sillage, but as others have mentioned it can easily be combined with something darker to suit other purposes. I am taking it along on a Central/West Coast adventure this summer and hopefully creating memories with it :)

P.S. Upon further research, I found out that neroli is indeed actually used to flavour cola!

MsWinkssy

This is irresistible! I never had a thing for orange blossom until this. At first I didn't like the bitterness at the beginning but now I realize it just adds to it. And after the bitter orange calms down, you're left with blossoming neroli and orange blossom in all its pure bliss with a slight musk. This scent is so fresh and uplifting. Whenever I wear it, I just can't get enough. It somehow calms my spirit. The rain has stopped falling and the sun is shining bright. The flowers are drinking in both the raindrops and sunshine. One of my best blind buys and I agree with those who say it smells more expensive than it is. Get it when it's on sale for half off, it's a steal!

Veevi

On my skin the strongest notes are neroli and musk. For my taste this isn't sweet enough. I can't find anything sweet. I find it quite masculine. If I were a boy I would give this a try ;) Even this fragrance is not for me it is worth trying for someone else. This definetely smells more expensive than it actyally is.

mirrorghost

i love neroli and orange blossom, especially in spring and summer, and i am also loving everything from this yves rocher collection as well. neroli is no different! it's a warm neroli-orange blossom with musk. it reminds me a bit of l'occitane's old neroli scent, but is a bit lighter than that one, but still pretty musky, which i like. it's a very bright happy scent but the musk grounds it some, so that it is not too "clean" since i am not a fan of super clean or aquatic scents.

sophia*rose

I got this for my mother, because she loves the smell of orange blossom and generally anything floral, herbal, fresh that has a natural scent to it.

This was perfect because the orange blossom note is very natural, not synthetic at all. We usually have a bottle of orange blossom water in our fridge in the summer, and use it to make cooling drinks with cherry syrup over ice (it's a persian specialty).

So the orange blossom scent is very familiar to me, both to my nose and tastebuds, and I have to say that this a very beautiful orange blossom indeed. The musk compliments it very well. I'm really impressed with this one.

kaejuntun

I LOVE neroli/orange flower so I thought that Secret d'Essences Neroli would be a home run for me. Every time I try to wear it, though, something just smells off to me. The initial spray is super bitter to me, which makes sense given the description above.. I eventually get more orange than orange flower and the bitterness remains. It seems like Neroli just sits on top of my skin rather than really developing and warming like most fragrances do.

That being said, I am not ready to give up on Neroli yet. I will keep trying it... it may be the weather, as it is still chilly where I live. Maybe this will improve as the temperature warms.

Skye Wortley

This smells sophisticated, luxe and überfeminine. It's a very tart citrusy smell but it's still sweet in the natural way. For the opening notes i got a burst of fresh and rather bitter citrus and greens. When the citrus dries down, the fragrance goes very soft and floral. I got very warm and sweet orange blossom with a hint of musk.

I love this perfume and definitely recommend it to people who like fresh and clean but floral scents. The longevity and sillage is just perfect: it lasts for the hole day and doesn't loose it's scent, and it's pleasantly noticeable and not overpowering. This perfume is great for layering (i would probably combine it with yves rocher voile d'ambre) but is still great on it's own. It's a bit on the pricier side: around $37 but is definitely worth it.

daniela_hct

It smells so expensive and sophisticated! I finally found a sweet perfume that suits me. Thank you, Yves Rocher!

messier42

This is a mouthwatering neroli fragrance. Beautiful, light, soft, fresh, tasty and bright. When it settles it becomes sweeter, but remains delightful!! Its just what i was looking for. Very impressed with my first experience with yves rocher fragrance.

sarage

The sharp freshness of neroli softened by musk: very beautiful every day fragrance for every season. I got a tiny bottle of 5 ml as a gift, I will add this to my travel size cosmetic bag.

Adding this after some time: I want a big bottle of this, it is really a pleasant scent!

piahellgren

This to me is wonderful and so much better than the Yves Rocher Fleur Desir. It reminds me of Lancome O de L´Orangerie, but Secret d Essence is more tart and less watery. But the crispy, watery fresh orange blossom is there and in abundance in the beginning. Sure, it could last longer, but I think it wouldn´t have been this clean, fesh and tart if something to make it stay longer would have been added. It´s a very brisk and yet sunny scent- a happy, sunny, somewhat direct scent and it reminds me of warm, early morning walking in shrubbery somewhere in Greece in early summer before things turn yellow and dry . I really like how it is combinign sunny and sweet with tart and slightly bitter without turning into pine tree smell at all.

Teebird

Lovely, fresh orange blossom scent--sweet but in a natural way(like honey). A gentle floral that this (mostly)non-floral wearer likes. There is a snowstorm going on as I type this and wearing this in the middle of winter has elevated my mood. In fact, every time I wear this, I feel like this is something I remember smelling in my childhood--this just gives me a good feeling.

imperfect-angel

Remind me so much of my beloved Jo Malone Orange blossom only a tad more feminine due to the neroli touch in the dry down...I surprisingly love this one better now.
It's smell too expensive for its price.

Arlene-Beatrix

Very nice citrus fragrance, soft, slightly bitter but OK, fresh, so surely good for summer. Office safe.

michelle.p.stpierre

If you're a fan of the EDT version of Elie Saab, then chances are, you will enjoy this also. On my skin I don't get much of the bitter orange or bergamot aside from the opening that only lasts a few minutes, but I certainly get the sweet orange blossom and neroli that has a hint of honey to it. It's slightly sweet.

Very reminiscent of being in the Mediterranean with the smell of orange blossoms in the air. This is a fresh fragrance (but without being astringent that some citrus fragrances of this kind can evoke) that would be radiant on hot summer days.

Lill Kaja

One of the best Neroli scents on the cheaper end of the scale. Bitter, sweet and beautiful! Poor longevity and sillage though.

temporal

A clean and crispy fragrance for neroli lovers. While the oil of neroli is quite sharp, this fragrance is nicely shaped and it's good for a private aromatherapy. They say, a neroli oil has a relaxation effect, but for me this fragrance works rather for a concentration.

On the other hand, during the cold season this fragrance seems to be quite monotonous, and I'd love to mix it with some soft aromatic resins and amber for to frame that clear neroli note. Let's see what a warm season will bring :)

roseberries_

One of the best neroli scents I've ever tried; fresh orange blossom and fizzy, sparkly citrus essences with a delicate greenness from petitgrain weaving through the fragrance makes this a Mediterranean holiday in a bottle.

It's a vacation in a villa off the coast of Italy, surrounded with bitter orange trees in full bloom and the smell of sunshine trickling through the white blossoms, playing hide and seek between the trees. It's an amazing utterly realistic neroli for it's price and I'm so excited to wear it come Spring.

AIRAM

Hi, this is my first review on fragrantica. I love browsing reading other peoples reviews? I purchased neroli on reviews and I LOVE it. The imitate smell is just heaven, and it lasts as well which is great. great purchase from yves rocher, will definitely purchase again.

annbolly31

Very lovely scent. I got it basically for free when I was buying Voile d'Ambre. That one sadly gives me headaches (it's beautiful though) and this one is very light, delicate and fresh. Perfect for spring. Bitter at first, but then changes into a soft orange blossom scent. More flowery than citrusy. Definetely. I love it more and more each time I wear it but it's winter now, so it'll have to wait until the snow starts to melt ;)

Juliana6

I think it's the most realistic Neroli scent I've smelled in my life! Fresh, green, uplifting citrus in the middle of the winter. It's slightly bitter which adds some depth to it. The musk is light but still present and makes this scent adult and sensual.
I associate it with a winter bride- white, elegant silk dress with lace and pearls beneath a warm, white fur coat, porcelain fair skin with a touch of natural blush, dark, long hair in a low hair bun with a few snowflake treasures in it, beautiful blue eyes and warm, excitingly trembling, loving heart. Clean, pure, white, "transparent", a bit shy being but with a flame of desire burning inside. Very feminine and beautiful!

Mellyhelly

Lovely little scent!
I love the smell of orange blossoms and neroli, more during summer.
This is a clean, happy, simple scent with a good neroli vibe and it's not easy to do. Many neroli scents smell aggressive and similar to home cleaning products.
This one smells pretty yet not a shy wallflower. It lasts for 2-3 hours and gives an overall sense of floral freshness and cuteness. There is bitter edge that makes it more interesting than a flat floral.
I still like Fragonard Fleur d'oranger more, but this one comes close.

dreadpiraterachel

Fresh, peppery, a little bitter in the same way that lime peels are bitter. It reminds me of the citrus orchard by my childhood home. This is my go-to work fragrance for summer. It sits close to my skin, smells nice and clean, and is a bit unusual. Sadly, it disappears within three or four hours, but while it lasts, it's lovely. I would never wear it out in the evening or during the winter; this is a light and casual scent. Probably not for fans of very sweet, fruity fragrances, but you never know.

Of note: I hated this the first time I smelled it. I thought it smelled of shower cleaner. A month later, I was cleaning out my stash of samples and retested it. To my surprise, I loved it so much I ordered a full bottle that night. Incidentally, the bottle leaked in transit, but I haven't had a problem with it since then.

Aaredhel

I tested this fragrance yesterday and it immediately made me feel like during a bright breezy springtime morning, walking carefree over the clouds, caressed by the breeze and this beautiful scent. It made me happy. Neroli by Yves Rocher will soon join my collection.

Jade13

Never thought I would like a scent that is slightly bitter, but this one is absolutely gorgeous. Lasting power is good too.

truffles

Sherapop - neroli IS orange blossom, well the oil from it, so I'm a bit confused by your review. .
I was toying with the idea of ordering this frag but from the reviews and comparisons, it's clearly not the soliflore I'd hoped for.

picasso_x

Yves Rocher's shop give me sample on my birthday. It's soft smell orange and very clean, quite nice. I've think man can wear it,If you need to feel like walk in orange garden.Long lasting is ok.

Lakambini

This lovely little fragrance starts off fresh and cool, like an orange sorbet, but gains volume as it melds with my skin, gaining a sensuality and sweetness that never goes overboard. After the first half hour or so, a definite woody, jasmine and orange blossom quality emerges and I agree with all those who opine this evokes Thierry Mugler Alien. Just lighter, less strident, with a wee bit of green and delightful citrus. Very wearable, too -- a migraine-free pleasure for me.

Frayja

Love it!
Light,bitter-sweet,a real neroli.Little bit nostalgic,maybe?Nice price,nice lasting power.You should try it.

antonpan

A lighter, less saturated version of Thierry Mugler Alien.

mihaela01

I would describe it as calm and relaxing,a little bitter-sweet...it smells like an orange cake to me.Good lasting power

ChypreAnn

Beautiful clean fragrance, soapy in a good way, like back in the 1980s when I was about ten-to-twelve years old and my mom would take me to the Crabtree & Evelyn store. As soon as I walked into that store and inhaled the scent, I felt like a princess. I've never been to France (hope to go someday), so I don't want to say "it's very French," but for whatever it's worth, I get a "French milled soap" character from this perfume. Happy with this purchase!

naen

After one trial i can confirm: a beautiful perfume. Elegant, not loud, feminine, clean and well formulated. From this single experience i see a resemblence with Vanille Noir (which i adore): the soft, slightly powdery-creamy base. Those two could be layered without mistake or hesitation, i'm sure they would compliment each other and surround the person with a delicate and classy cloud of scent.

karrina

love it!smells sooo good on my skin!

sherapop

The latest entry in the Yves Rocher Secrets d'Essence series, Néroli, diverges somewhat from its predecessors. For one thing, the stickiness found in all of the others--to a greater or lesser extent--is not present here at all. This will be good news for those who found that quality unappealing and the other scents too sweet.

In spite of the name, which suggests that this is a neroli soliflore, what we really have here is a balanced composition of both neroli and orange blossom. In fact, I'd say that the orange blossom is even a bit more prominent than the neroli. The essences are suspended in a creamy and fairly clean white musk base--again, it's not sticky sweet at all, although it is a bit sweet. It is also not at all soapy, so this is not really like Prada Infusion de Fleur d'Oranger.

Néroli is a simple but solid orange blossom/neroli creation which is bound to appeal to anyone who likes orange blossom. It is a lot less sweet than many of the orange blossom perfumes, and a lot less dark than neroli soliflores. I find it to be more of a feminine floral perfume than a masculine neroli-type cologne.

I like it, I do.

themattsky

This is a beautiful fragrance. I think it's the best one YR has to offer. A little bitter-sweet, very feminine and sophisticated. I absolutely love it. On my wife's skin it lasts for about 10-12 hours.

Museumgal

Not too sweet -- you can smell the bitterness of the neroli without it being overwhelming. Then it dries down to a lovely musk. It is simple but it delivers what it advertises well. Lasts nicely for a citrus scent, about four hours. Really lovely, good addition to the line.

drugstore classics

Thanks to the thoughtfulness of a fellow fragrantican, I finally got to sample this lovely scent! Bless you, friend!

First of all, Yves Rocher has done a beautiful job with this modern floral. It opens with a pleasant burst of petitgrain, reminding me distinctly of a mild mannered Elie Saab. The "sour" note or bitterness in Elie Saab is considerably toned down here, and it is a lighter fragrance all around. I really enjoy the light touch of patchouli I smell, even though this is probably the petitgrain and musk!

To my surprise - on my personal chemistry - this supposedly Neroli centered fragrance hovered fleetingly on neroli before heading straight for what I could have SWORN was a sweet jasmine base. I still cannot believe that the notes do not include jasmine.... wow.

As I prefer an orange blossom fragrance that is all about ( forgive me! ) orange blossoms, I shall be passing by this one. But for a slightly sweet and fresh floral, you could do FAR worse.

genny17

I like neroli and this is a nice take on it I admit..It is bright, fresh and uplifting, I find Nyberg created a pretty summery scent, the orange blossom is almost overpowering the neroli on me, the scent smells attractive, feminine, and a tad classy, this is a great creation , and I am real tempted to purchase it, this is really pretty with correct longevity , although it isnt real longlasting, it lingered on my wrists for quite a while.

lilou

What a nice and delicate perfume ! It's clean, a little bit beachy, fresh and feminine. Nice job !
Correct lasting power.

bleuciel

Ah, finally in stores here!

Right off the bat, I'd like to say it's not as strong as the other Secrets D'Essences. I had three sprays on an hour ago and it barely smells anymore.

It's fresh, it's crisp, it's floral. And I do get that gasoline note! It's not exactly gasoline in true form, but it resembles. What a heck?! No sweetness or warmth whatsoever, actually it's on the bitter/cold side. I'm guessing that it would give me such a headache, provided it lasts enough for the headache to form.

Personally, to me, this would be the fragrance to wear at work when you have an important presentation to make and don't want to seem inviting or warm or 'human'. Good for the hot days as well.

Sensoria

Finally it was in the YR shop after a long time of waiting and bought it in my vacation. Love it!! This is for sure my favorite in de Secret d'Essences line.Clean, fresh and crispy.Great summmer/spring scent.Drydown however smelled familiar and reminded me of another perfume of YR I bought in the past. Neonatura Souffle. At home I tried Neonatura Souffle and indeed it has about the same drydown.

NarnianDryad

I so much wanted to love this - Neroli is one of my favorite citruses. But, the musk is absolutely overwhelming - not a nice, soft touch it is touted to be.
The designer might be a genius, but I just could not bear the scent on my wrist. One spritz was more than enough.

KateAnette

I appreciate/ like/ love all the rest in the Secrets d'essences line. I think they're
well made. One of my favorite notes is neroli, so I was sure I'd love this, and ordered a couple of purse sprays. I read the reviews about it here before I got them. There was some mentions about a gasoline smell. Reading that I rolled my eyes, and thought there must be sth wrong with the reviewers nose (sorry :) ).
Well, i got my Neroli, and have been wearing it for a couple of times. Oh my. There IS a gasoline smell. It's faint, but its there, and it stays there throughout the wear. Where on earth is it coming from ?? Never experienced that in a perfume. The second time I tried to wear it, I had to scrub it off. It just made me think of all the chemicals in the perfumes...
I actually like the smell of gasoline (weird i know^^). Definitely not in my perfume though, I feel very uncomfortable putting a chemical on my skin that smells like that... Someone suggested that the petit grain might have that gasoline "note", but I don't detect it in any other perfume that contains petit grain ?
Really, a gasoline smell ? Really, in a perfume from the "natural" YR ? I so wanted to love this :(

busik

Very natural, just sniffing a flower with trees, very realistic! Good for spring-summer.

leonorano3

I'm curious; has anyone any idea when (whether?)this is going to be available in UK?

Annica

On first application it reminded me of Maroussia, probably because of the orangeblossom. They don´t have anything else in common. Neroli is a woody and aromatic fragrance. If I didn´t know it was an Yves Rocher fragrance I would have guessed Hermès. It smells very natural and clean, very cozy and not too sweet. I really like it. Good job YR!

Update: Love it!!

evacecilias

Just the first sniff off it was beautiful enough !
I lwant my fresh ones with a touch of pepper or wood and I bet here is but not listed here on Fragrantica.. I am not saying they are similar but one frag I own it reminds me of, is Dkny Pure , first edition
And as I have a whole bottle of that I dont need this right now.
And I have this cute mini a while..Thanks Sa Majeste..."
I must add that it lacks some warmth. In the drydown it gets a bit metallic and cold...overall a very nice surprice from the house of Rocher !

dormir6

Usually I dislike neroli, but this one is addictiv! I love it!!!! On my skin it's similar to Armani Code. Pure seduction and kindness. Not a herbal spicy nor a mild, soft natural neroli. It is sweet ambrosia. Kind, tender, sexy. Sweet sunshine filtering throught the leaves. Absoltuley beautiful! I had to go back and buy a full bottle....

ouweadder

not the scent of neroli smells more like old candy. after an hour feeling a bit sick and unpleasant. strange medical and sweet odeur.

anna.glowacka

The more i wear it the more reminds me of Alien and R.Cavalli Just. I don't say it's the same but it's just on the same line. Gives me cold feeling, not a warm scent. Also not too fresh in my opinion. In dry down i get artificial plastic note. It stays close to skin last about 3 hours slowly fading away to the last stage of musk. I was waiting long time to finally test it but i'm not impressed.

Habanita

To me this is the best Essence scent yet by Yves Rocher. It's got great lasting power and is really present. I see it more for winter days and evening wear than for summer. It's Neroli but without the bitterness. It isn't very sweet either. It's a very warm honey-like scent that really spoke to me today. I guess I'm going to buy it. I sprayed myself with it today and my surrounding likes it a lot too.

mara_g

I agree with cumulnimbus, this perfume is simply correct. It delivers exactly what it says it will. It's soft, citrusy, flowery, musky and powdery and may I add versatile and pretty. It's perfect for warm weather and casual events. I like it, but I won't rush to get a bottle since I have another orange blossom perfume that satisfies me (O de L'orangerie).

lyciumchld

As others have noted: clean, fresh, slightly citrusy, a little bit of powder. Nothing out of the ordinary, nothing offensive, nothing risky. It would definitely work as a spring or summer scent. I think if there were a much drier version of JS Fancy Love or Burberry for women, Secrets D'Essences Neroli is what that might smell like.

cumulnimbus

Neutral -not outstanding- safe scent for spring and summer.
Not special, just correct.
Something to wear for social meetings where you must show a low profile such as a summer funeral for example. Also for those occasions in which you need to smell just like everybody else: clean, sweet, cool and not too rich.

Quite linear evolution. Moderate sillage and longevity, correct again in this aspect.

Miffy8900

Great scent, sweet but still with bitter oranges. Fresh but feminine , and perfect for summer.

bobo1

The dry down made me think of 24 Faubourg. They are not the same it's just the mood, the feeling.
I suspect the potential to induce migraine headaches.

rickyrebarco

Pretty scent, but I get mostly heavy orange blossom and lots of musk, which gives it almost a close to decaying topnote. After it had dried down for a couple of hours the development revealed the neroli and orange, but the overall effect is very warm, like the heavy-lidded scent of blossoms about to fall off a tree in the humid evening air. This is not necessarly bad. It's a very pretty scent. I was just expecting something lighter and fresher. This is a great perfume for layering, though.

To take away a bit of the heavy orange blossom, I layered it with Chanel's 28 La Pausa to great effect. The result was the perfect scent, warm musky orange blossom balanced with the cooler iris and orris root. A marriage made in heaven.

WOW ,won my heart at first sniff ! :)
As soon as I opened promo letter I wondered where this smell coming from … I knew I had to order it right away. This perfume is fresh, clean and at the same time alluring and a bit warn. To me it is very delicious but in very appropriate and unique way. I see similarities with D&G light blue too, only D&G is more cold, Neroli is more warm and sweet.Well done YR!

This will be my go to summer scent. It's lovely.

I was so happy to see this fragrance sample in my Yves Rocher order that came today. I had been wanting to try it as I usually like neroli scents.

The Swedish Girl posted below me, "oranges dipped in gasoline". Oh dear. Same here! I really wanted to like this, but I'm a afraid it's a big fat no.

Finally I got my hands on a mini bottle of Neroli. This is such a beautiful late spring/summer fragrance.

Imagine a tall glass of homemade lemonade with lots of ice and a thick slice of bitter orange. Now imagine you're sipping your drink, while sitting under a big orange blossom tree. It's a calm, peaceful day with blue sky and perfect weather... I could go on, but you get the picture.

This is a refreshing, harmonious neroli-based fragrance with lemony notes and the right amount of bitter orange that makes it interesting. There is some greenness, but I don't detect any musk. This is a very natural smelling fragrance, but not "ordinary" or linear. It's bursting with freshness of neroli blossom, green leaves and citrus. I usually don't care for fresh citrusy fragrances, but this feels just right. I can't imagine anyone would hate this, it's just so likable.

The liquid is completely colourless like water. I'm glad Yves Rocher refrained from adding artificial colours. This way the scent looks as pure and natural as it smells.

Thanks again Yves Rocher. And please don't discontinue this!

Wow, I really didn't expect to like (LOVE) this as much as I do! I've always been a fan of the musky notes, but bitter orange was the one thing I wasn't so sure of. I tend to favor soft mandarin orange over sharp orange note. Secret d`Essences Neroli truly surprised me!

"Zesty" is the one word everyone's been saying, and I agree. Juicy bitter orange beautifully wrapped in musk, rich and realistic floral notes... Winner! As someone said before: very different from everything else sold nowadays. This fragrance really has a character.

Oh, Secret d`Essences Neroli really IS perfect for layering. I really love the notes & combination of Voile d'Ambre (Yves Rocher), but somehow it just hasn't worked on my skin. It just doesn't "suit" me, which is a pity.
BUT this fragrance changed everything. This afternoon I got the idea to combine this & Voile d'Ambre, and the result was HEAVENLY. I "blame" petitgrain/mandarin leaf & mandarin orange/bitter orange for the way these two just FIT together, seamlessly - and yes, VdA also has the vanilla note everyone has been detecting in this one! If Neroli is a walk through the most beautiful garden in spring morning/midday, the combination of Neroli & Voile d'Ambre is that same garden in the evening, just when the sun is going down and the shadows are revealing all the mysteries that stay hidden during the day.
Neroli can definitely lighten up some "darker" and more serious fragrances, make them more wearable in the daytime, and (for example) some oriental notes can transform Neroli into something much more complicated and sensual. I recommend you to purchase first the mini version of this - if you don't like Neroli on its own, you will surely find a perfume to mix it up with!

I personally can't wait to purchase the full bottle!

Received few samples,I'd say it's a bit powdery, citrusy but not fresh citrus, lightly soapy.Very unique and differs a lot from what is marketed in the stores in 2013.Great scent for spring.Must have.

tiikelikakku

I find it very sweet. I had to actually double check that it doesn't contain vanilla essence, because sweetness is so overpowering at first. But the clearest notes are definitely the floral ones once it has set on skin. I'm not sure do I like this one or not, it's a little bit too "sweet flower garden" for me.

You know how when you smell a perfume sample on a paper card or in a magazine, and you love it, but then when you have the real thing you're disappointed because it smells different? Well that's NOT what will happen with Yves Rocher Secret d'Essences Neroli! If you smelled a paper sample strip of this and loved it, then get it, because the edp smells exactly like the sample strip!

The fragrance itself, I would describe as soft and cozy, calm and relaxing. I looked here at Fragrantica's description of neroli's 'odor profile' and it says: "citrusy, light, slightly bitter, hints of orange and honey blossom floral facets, purifying, aromatic, romantic." I think this really describes the fragrance as a whole.

I'm so in love with this fresh and überfeminine perfume. From the burst of bitter green zest, the scent of fleshy orange flowers to the honey-musky drydown , this perfume offers extraordinary good value and is a must-buy for lovers of crispy clean perfumes. The drydown does somewhat resemble Jasmin 17 from Le Labo and that's not too bad for a budget perfume

The Swedish girl

Got a sample of this, and to my nose it smells like oranges dipped in gasoline.

Update: I actually like this one now, very strange. The small sample bottle smells much better than the towel sample.
Similar to JPG Classique edt.

Venus193

Fresh, crisp orange blossom top note with a mildly musky drydown and slightly powdery. Beautiful for spring or summer.

Dolce gabbana light Blue = neroli secret d essence !!

Ninula

has anyone met the speciment in the shops yet?

Very curious about this one. I live this range from Yves Rocher and own them all except the jasmine. Can't wait to try them !

cherie97

EloquentOgre, I guess Yves Rocher is going to be a bit more sharp and bitter, and a little more intense than Guerlain's (may be similar to Diptyque Eau de Neroli).
Something makes me think that Aqua Allegoria is going to be a little more fresh, watery and sweet, just the way I like it.
But we'll see if I'm right or wrong :)

astamm62

This is really one scent I want to try...I love Neroli and Orange Blossom fragrances!

cherie97

guess yves rocher is trying to be a cheaper alternative for upcoming guerlain's nerolia bianca.
i'm quite curious about who's going to win this neroli battle.
