Believe by Britney Spears is a Floral Fruity fragrance for women. Believe was launched in 2007. Top notes are Guava and Tangerine; middle notes are Lime Blossom and Honeysuckle; base notes are Patchouli, Praline and Amber.

This is a new Britney Spears fragrance, the second fragrance launched by Britney in 2007. The new fragrance, Believe, is promoted with the slogan, "The greatest freedom is to believe in yourself". Unlike her previous fragrances, which came in cute, girlish toy-like bottles, Believe comes in a triangular bottle of straight and sharp lines. The green color of the fragrance alludes to its fresh character. Believe is aimed at young and romantic girls.

here comes a very strong and dramatic review LOL

Its one of the most disapointing perfumes ive ever smelled, theres almost nothing here but strong overpowering patchouli. the notes seem very balanced when you read them off the list and then you smell the fragrance and theres just an overpowering patchouli with very little depth.
Maybe its because i had heard good things or maybe because i enjoy every other britney perfume but this is the biggest perfume disappointment for me.

i will keep a small sample for experiment purposes and give the rest to my mother who enjoys patchouli. have plenty of citrus body mists that could potentially save this and make it actually resemble what the reviews promised

NBeeeeeeone

I bought this perfume when it first came out, and in my opinion, this has always been the best Britney Spears perfume. This was one of the first perfumes I had that actually stopped people in their tracks and gave me compliments on it. They were usually surprised that it was by Britney,

I remember for a while, it was hard to find. Or it was seemingly discontinued. Even though I continue to purchase this perfume, it no longer smells like it did years and years ago. One bottle I had purchased on Amazon, I had to throw away because the dry down was just awful.

So my review is on the original :) It's such a well crafted perfume. It's bright with the lovely notes of guava and the patchouli wasn't off putting at all.

One of the best :)))))))

Cogey

I blind bought a full bottle of this and it smells very, very similar to My Burberry Black. Soapy, patchouli, fruit. Like you just washed your hair and then doused yourself with patchouli. I’m into it! Surprising from Britney Spears!

kerakiwi

Yikes! I was really hoping to like this one as I haven't found a Britney perfume that disagree with me too much. This, on my skin just smells 95% strong patchouli and 5% guava that pops up from time to time in the beginning.

MandalaaXO

I purchased a silver plate version of this perfume last year and I was upset when I sprayed it, I thought it had been improperly stored since it smelled musty. The batch code was reissued in 2020, so my bottle is from 2010. I tried it a couple of times and wasn't sure if I wanted to keep it - but I wasn't sure if it was me or Believe. Fast forward 3 months and I pulled her out of dark storage to see if anything changed and she is a sparkling, fresh, juicy guava lime blossom goodness. Not gourmand at all, but also not NOT sweet. She is green, herbal, citrus, and juicy. I feel like it's a testament to the uniqueness of this perfume that there is nothing decisively listed as similar to her. Very happy I decided to keep her! She will be great during the humid Florida summer for something fresh and juicy while also being substantial. I feel like Believe will be a go-to for layering with something sweet and citrusy.

delicateneonkisses

I have two bottles of this, an original bottle with the silver plate, and also a new bottle without it. I am confused as people said there was a reformulation and it smells worse now, however both bottles smell exactly the same to me so i feel there has been some misinformation..

anyways, this is a very fresh enjoyable perfume. it’s not offensive and the patchouli is just right. the bottle is quite hard to use because of the shape but other than that it is really nice!

dj71

Enjoyable. Fruity but not cloyingly sweet. A good mix of fruity, florals and patchouli. I'm happy with this blind buy. This also came out quite a while ago, but it does not smell dated or old-fashioned to me.

nisarsarah9

Pretty fresh and long lasting scent. Good choice to wear it during summers!!

Believe by Britney Spears, wow, what a unique perfume. The first time I smelled it, I wasnt sure. It wasn't an instant love, but it wasn't an instant dislike either. I needed time to get to know this one! My husband complimented it, and he hates getting a whiff of 90 percent of the stuff I sample, so that was a huge surprise. He is Nepali, and said it reminded him of a spice or flower back home in the Himalayas! I wont say this smells expensive, but it certainly doesnt smell cheap. Its not necessarily a "perfumey" smell, but it is a lovely scent that wont bother anyone.

The guava is definitely there. The lime blossom and honey suckle combined create a beautiful floral nectar sweetness. The lime blossom almost has a jasmine vibe. No tartness or sourness from the lime, just the blossom and the slightest essence of lime.

If jade had a smell, it would be this. Crisp, clean, sweet, and mesmerizing. There is definitely a green fresh smell to Believe, as if the stems of the lime blossom and honey suckle are apart of the notes!

You can't quite put a description to this one, it is unlike anything you've ever smelled. Right now I'm trying everything from tea scents to gourmands. And Believe is a delight to return too after smelling so many new perfumes. I'm talking about $100+ perfumes I'm sampling!

I don't know what patchouli smells like as an isolated note, but even if you hate patchouli, I think you should try this. Some people hate cinnamon, but can't detect it in a masala curry. I think the way patchouli is combined with the other notes gives it this profound distinction.

Slightly fruity, slightly flowery, nectar like sweetness, clean and fresh. Not too strong on any of its elements, wonderfully balanced. Feminine. Complex. Soft. Doesn't hit you in the face, yet it lingers. Honestly, it's just beautiful. The juice, the bottle, and the scent. I wish it lasted longer, but if you spray it up, it definitely will.

brandiwine1980

Funny I feel like I can still smell it and I’ve never owned it. Guessing one of my niece’s had it. It’s strange how some scents you never forget and others you do. I must get a bottle just for nostalgia!

audreyofarc

Imagine it's the end of a rain shower, and you've just plucked a tart, green, Granny Smith apple off a tree. There are raindrops still dotting its skin, and it seems slightly unripe and firm. There is dew on the leaves surrounding it. You press your nose to the outside peel of the apple, and you take a big sniff.

It is that smell, the smell you get when sniffing the outside peel of an unripe, uncut fruit—that faintly tart, watery, green, maybe even woody scent, where you can perceive tempting, intoxicating hints of sweetness but not much more—that's Britney Spears Believe.

It's a difficult scent to describe, which I think is why my description is so weirdly specific. Obviously, it has patchouli, but aside from that, it's tricky to pinpoint the exact notes. It's very green, a little fruity, a little tropical, a little fresh, a little minty, a little nutty, a little sweet. I get vaguely tart fruit peels, and a praline undercurrent, though I don't really get the florals. Mostly, it's very balanced.

First time I sprayed it, I didn't like it, but that's how I am with most perfumes tbh. It was kind of screechy and sharp, and there was no sweetness at all. I let it sit a couple weeks, and when I tried it again, I started getting some more of the praline and tart fruitiness, and I liked it more.

Now it's been half a year since I first got it, and surprise! I've sort of fallen in love. I know patchouli supposedly doesn't age well in perfumes, but my nose must be broken because I think it's gotten SO much nicer with time. It was a blind buy, and probably not something I'd go out of my way to pick had I smelled a sample first, but ultimately, I'm very glad I got it. It's very refreshing and unique, not at all what you'd expect from a Britney Spears perfume, and yet, it also has enough mass appeal that I think it'd be a good entry-way perfume for girls curious about scents that are a bit more nuanced and different, and less like your average B&BW body mist (though I will always love those).

Though it's not girly, I still think there's something very distinctively young about it which I quite like. Not necessarily young in the literal sense, but in spirit. Older women could wear it just fine and still be read as mature—more so, what I mean is that it has this zingy, tomboy sort of vibe that transcends age. It's giving that cool, younger aunt you idolized as a child, if you know what I mean.

Longevity is quite good for me, but I guess it depends on how patchouli sits on you. My skin struggles with holding on to most scents, except patchouli, which sticks like there's no tomorrow, so Believe lasts 8-10+ hours on me. On my clothes, it lasts forever, or until I wash them. It has good projection as well. I love it for the springtime and when it's been raining, though you could honestly probably wear it any time of the year. I haven't actually tried it on a cloyingly hot summer day yet, but I think it could work.

Maybe not a totally safe blind buy, but if you want to try patchouli, I'd say this is an amazing place to start. Don't be scared, and give it a little time! It might surprise you.

Tashateex

I liked the original formulation but the new formulation is not as great as I remember.

This is a fresh, green, woody scent, but is quite heavy on the patchouli.

I would wear this to run errands or casually. It is okay, but there is nothing really great about it.

Hifza

Honestly, I got attracted with the bottle and just wanted to own it. It is some what unique in shape, however the scent is good too. It's acceptable, I wouldn't say it's the best but it's simple, light and mature. I find the balance of notes and fits right for dinners or lunches. The color represents it's freshness and sparkle in the scent!

Bomber81

When I first sprayed this on myself, I absolutely hated it. This was a blind buy based on reviews because someone compared it to Angel, of which there is no relation in my eyes (yet) and I wish I'd never read that! I hated the artifical chemical putrid smell and hated that it smelled like something I already own and can't stand. Can't remember which perfume that is and I'm away from my stash, but based on votes, I'm guessing it's either one of her other perfumes or the Juicy Couture listed above. Gross. I love patchouli and Angel though, so when someone mentioned that and others mentioned fresh and clean with wood.. yum. But YUCK! I was wrong to assume I'd love this. Or so I thought.

Been wearing it for days, hoping my taste would change because I love this bottle and wanted to find just one BS perfume I'd like.

The initial chemical grossness passes fairly quickly. The dry down is nice, but not a "love", yet. Though as the days pass, I am finding it much more tolerable and I even find myself wanting to smell it and dare I say, enjoying it at times.

There is something awful and also pleasant about this scent. I'd never wear it out though, and don't enjoy it enough to keep so I'll likely sell it. Too bad cause I love the bottle. Was just hoping for more from this. The sweetness ruins it for me but also likely makes it tolerable because it doesn't seem to be a blending to my liking. The patchouli smells cheap till it settles and then I get whiffs of something so beautiful. Wish it was like this the whole stretch, but this beautiful moment in the wearing doesn't last and before you know it, it's faded away and I'm left with disappointment.

I bet this perfume is one others would enjoy smelling on someone else. If you hate it, test that and see what anyone around you thinks. Probably be mixed reviews. I'm so conflicted with it myself. Can't stand syrupy gourmands anymore and Believe is testing my patience with that praline note. It needs some wood - there is none. Not sure how others are getting that cause there is no wood listed in the notes. I'm bordering on puking and wanting to spray more. By the time I make it back to my stash I'll probably end up liking that other one I can't stand lol

I do smell that clean hair smell, not what stands out, but whiffs of it. Maybe that is what I'm liking about it. I don't know. For now I'll just stand by saying this is not a safe blind buy.

Smells good on my scarf, but my scarf also smells like Billie Eilish #2, which is pure wood and smoke to me, so that covers the missing wood note lol

May edit this to update if things change for me as it has for others below.

Cozy, patchouli forward scent with a bright burst of lime at the top. I can also catch the sweet guava. There’s more of a mature vibe than with other perfumes in her line (ie Fantasy, especially Fantasy). If you like Amyris Femme or Coco Mademoiselle, as they have somewhat similar scent profiles, you will like this one.

Sailor Pluto

I remember hating this about a decade ago when I first tried it. I thought the patchouli was dirty and unbearable. I decided to give it another go when I saw it on super sale and I love it! I don't detect patchouli at all. Either, my tastes have evolved over the years, or they seriously reformulated this. In any event, I would say that it's a delicious lime-guava blend that is quite unique, so worth adding to your wardrobe! I wore it last night for a night out, and I woke up missing smelling it, so I sprayed first thing this morning :)

fairypond

This one is definitely NOT for patchouli haters! I blind bought and was a bit put off by the first sprays, as I found it a bit screechy, but after a month in the drawer it really came into it's own. Cool, casual, and not overly feminine. At first, a fresh blast of citrus with sugared patchouli leaves and juicy guava, and then a surprisingly earthy, almost dirty dry-down. Sort of a hippie vibe? Not super complex, but pretty good for the low price. The bottle is really nice, and I love the pale green colour of the perfume itself!

GiovannaV

It's so interesting seeing the reviews and reading that people are smelling a lot of patchouli. To me, the ONLY thing im getting is a very tart almost sour smelling fruit. With that being said, it is not off putting to me at all. On the contrary, I think it's very unique smelling! Especially considering its a celebrity fragrance. I put it on in the morning and still smell it 8+ hrs later. Chances are you don't have something like it in your collection. I definitely do not think its a safe blind buy but im very happy to have it!

natasha28

Britney Spears Believe
It opens with a heavy patchouli (moldy moss smell that i hate), it calms down quickly to reveal an orange citrus (not fresh citrus) with a light creamy white flower scent. I can't really detect the yellow floral notes (think of Marc Jacobs perfect in the yellow bottle, yuck!)
I'm glad I didn't buy it BC I knew I wouldn't like the patchouli. It's sweet and fruity, but not sickening sweet. I do like it, it reminds me a bit of Hidden Fantasy- if it had a spring version- with the warm spice and citrus. I don't really pick up on any of the woody notes. It'd be good for the spring summer.
The bottle is an unique shape, especially for Britney. It doesn't really smell like the Fantasy flanker per se, but it does smell like a celebrity perfume. I understand why people like it, I wouldn't buy it personally BC I wouldn't get enough wear out of it, but I do like it.
After about 1.5 hours the fruitiness wears off and it's back to patchouli. Silage is strong at first spray at arms length, but about an hour it sits close to skin. Not a great silage longevity, other Brittney perfume are stronger and longer lasting.
I wouldn't keep if gifted. Longevity is pretty poor around 2-4 hours close to skin, Britney has better quality perfumes

fvnaticbychoice

This is a fantastic everyday scent for a beginner in patchouli. I wear it to work out as well.

SweetJhane

At first whiff, I get a very watered down Fantasy (which has surprising green, fresh notes that I love) with added lime and minty notes, sadly no patchouli at all. It is nothing I will ever wear, but the bottle with the hopeful green juice is beautiful. Blind buy purchased on clearance, so while I wanted a pretty patchouli and that’s disappointing, no regrets.

creepy pasta

Although I like her simple and sweet fantasy, I am more attracted by this mature smell. I like it, the only downside is that it is too light and too synthetic,

yungapprentice

it’s a very clean scent. still testing it. i smell the patchouli but it’s not in a bad way. i smell the lime too but then this dries down on my skin like fabric almost. it smells like clean clothes imo

The13thHour

Believe is one of my favorite Britney Spears perfumes. This is her most mature fragrance out of all her perfumes and the best well-done patchouli fragrance I ever came across. This tops any designer patchouli perfume. The patchouli and guava is balanced perfectly with the citrus and green notes that it creates this ever so slight juicyfruit / spearmint / pink bubble gum scent in the background. It's rich and fresh. It is strong for a older celebrity fragrance.

suzanne_ronald

TROPICAL GUAVA-CHOULI. Opens with a burst of tropical guava with near-pear facets supported by tangerine, and already the patchouli base is coming through a little. That deepens into the floral heart of honeysuckle & lime-blossom that elaborate the beautiful guava further. This all rests on a patchouli base that over time manifests praline & amber in addition to some sparkly and earthy patchouli facets. The patchouli is really the star of the show here and is on display in all its multi-faceted splendour.

Contrast to Gucci by Gucci EDP:
These are different, but there are similarities with tropical guava & patchouli. GbG dries down with a more forward honey quality, while Believe has honeysuckle but dries down more patchouli-praline. Both have excellent performance.

Contrast to See by Chloe:
These are different, but there are some similarities with dewy, sweet fruit blossoms. Believe has a much more forward patchouli. Believe outperforms.

Contrast to Sotoor Seen Rasasi:
These are different, but there are similarities with guava & patchouli. Sotoor Seen is more a dupe of Gucci by Gucci EDP where there is a tropical fruity opening that dries down more honey forward. Sotoor Seen outperforms.

Overall: Beautiful tropical guava-chouli scent with excellent performance for a year round wearing experience, although due to the tropical facets, I would be more likely to wear this in spring-summer. It's a love for me. Enjoy!

OloraGolosina

It smells like a very refreshing tropical fruit punch with the garnish umbrella. when I smell Believe, I think of a cruise around the Caribbean or a day trip to a tropical island where you can find coconuts, papayas, mangoes, bananas and defo guavas. It's a fun, young and happy fragrance, affordable and unique, moderate projection, moderate longevity but delicious to wear. One of my favourites, it's one for which I will always keep a back up bottle, I guess the selling point is its uniqueness, It must be Britney Spears' best selling fragrance.

swedishmilk15

Maybe I need to let this one languish in the drawer a bit or something to see if this matures nicely, because I am not getting any of the Angel comparisons. I don't perceive patchouli at all, really. I am getting acidic fruits, LOTV, and musk. Agree with another reviewer's unisex experience, although it feels more feminine as it dries down. I like Believe, but it's not what I expected.

Update: the second time I wore this (very next day after the review above) I was totally getting that patch. I really like it!! This is in the vein of the new Angel EDT. Sparkling, juicy, tart, and the earthiness of patchouli to ground it. Like Angel EDT, the performance isn't great. But at less than HALF the price-per-ounce of the Mugler, this offering from Britney Spears is a budget-friendly winner that will simply require reapplication.

woobiewooooo

My first Britney Spears perfume! I wanted to try something that wasn't necessarily hyper-feminine and toothache inducing (though I am curious about them..) and I'm always a sucker for anything green, so I went with Believe! On first wear all I could smell was guava and patchouli. Not the worst thing, but the juxtaposition really gave the impression of overly ripe fruit. I was a little disappointed but I didn't necessarily hate it. After letting it sit for about a week, however, it really came into its own. Instead of the fruitiness of the guava and tangerine awkwardly sitting next to a strong patchouli, they harmonized; instead of smelling overly ripe, they are now reminiscent of the powdery sweetness of the powder they sprinkle on gum to keep it from sticking to itself. The lime blossom and honeysuckle are now detectable, and they make it smell more like my idea of a true "perfume". Soft, fruity and sweet! Just wish it lasted a bit longer.

Loevens

This didn't work for me. I have found that I really only like patchouli in fruitchoulis or subdued with plenty of sweetness. To me this was a strangely transparet, fresh yet earthy/musty, woody and unisex experience. It was not a bad perfume or unpleasant in any ways. I just imagined more of a juicy or tart guava with lime blossom and some sweetness from the praline. To my nose the Patchouli took over too much and the earthiness was too much for me, and it turned a bit musty and dusty on me. It did not project a whole lot but logevity was pretty decent.

celestewa

A very unique fresh, tropical, and a little bit earthy fragrance. It doesn't lean as feminine as you would expect from a Britney Spears perfume, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I think this would also layer amazingly with other tropical scents.

Kami_Lei

Cleaning supplies open with a Playdoh dry down.
Not for me.

vanillashpice

Her best perfume . I prefer the fresh top notes to the more soft and sweet Drydown . But it still holds on to a slight guava througought . The praline is prominent and it’s a little syrupy thick . I layer this with Velvet petals and Sephora guava scented body cream

Sassafras23

People seem to read very different things into this fragrance. Without looking at the notes, I would have described the scent as non-sweet citrus (like lime, grapefruit or green orange peel) and (conifer) woodsy. It’s sharp. I do not feel the floral or fruity at all. But I have to trust everybody that it’s guava, because my knowledge of guava does not extend beyond drinking juices with guava included. What I think is woody must be patchouli, except for me it’s woody from the beginning rather than as it dries down. I must be a fan of patchouli because many of the fragrances I like contain it, but I wouldn’t be able to tell it apart. But I do know the praline aroma, and I’m surprised to see it among the ingredients. I don’t know if this scent is unique to people who’ve gone through dozens or even hundreds of fragrances, but to me it is. Without intending to try it, I am glad that - by chance - I did. I find it to be very pleasant. That’s enough for me. So many interesting observations have been made about this fragrance over the years. I’m such a latecomer.

PS: as I wear it again, I do detect sweet fruity notes at the opening. Not sure how I missed them initially. But I also feel the praline in the dry-down! I didn't wait long enough the first time. So, it’s even better than I thought before.

Zbounce94

Hard to catch the fruit notes in this, tbh. The patchouli is definitely the loudest note. It is a clean, smooth patchouli, though. Dry down gets sweeter and softer, I'm assuming from the praline.
Great if you're looking for an affordable green frag.
Personally, I never wear this on its own. It's a layering scent for me. This paired with any floral gives a fresh, green edge - takes floral from "bouquet" to "garden" which is great imo.

TheNyx2003

Well after 2 weeks that i blindly bought fantasy , midnight fantasy and believe this my comment on them:

Fantasy : i just got a very sweet accord that is mix with a clean kiwi undertone , not a beast mode not weak either performance is moderate on my skin
6/10

Midnight fantasy : a clean fruity scent with a smoke on the background which reminds me hookah a little
Sillage is incredible ! My favorite of this brand by far 7/10

Believe : the thickest one ; at first sniff patchouli and guava ( in a tropical way ) punch you in the nose and until the end they are the star of the show 6/10

To being honest despite of the price i was high expected about them because of the good reviews specially fantasy i thought that it smells like a vanillic/orangy cup cake or maybe chocolaty coverd by kiwi , don't get me wrong all of them are ok but you know to me at least they're just ok nothing more , so simple and no twist even a little
But let's be optimistic for budget_minding price 😉

SweetBonnebelle

was dissapointed. It reminds me of mugler angel 😕 not a fan of it mostly due to Patchouli. Smelled pungent and moldy to me.

SykoMuffin

This was my first real perfume ever. It started my obsession, haha. Smells very fruity and cinnamon spicy, with a hint of patchouli. Like a walk through a lush forest full of fruit. If you spray it on your clothes, you have to wash them to get it out. Even after a week. Pretty strong, but not head ache level strong. I can't place the season this perfume belongs in. Or the time. It's appropriate to wear at Christmas, the spiciness brings images of autumn, it's fresh like spring, and fruity like a drink during a warm summer day. So many good memories. Also use it up fast, because it goes off really quick. My original bottle lasted for only a year and a half, and then patchouli took over and it smelled very funky. For reference, it was the second formulation, the one without the metal bit on top. The bottle is modern and angular, and the liquid is a cute lime green. Very iconic. This is definitely an all time favourite.

HoneySmoke889

I picked it up for $22 at Shoppers in Canada. I don't get the patchouli that I was hoping for. I get melon, honeysuckel, some amber. It is nice and balanced, not too sweet, but green and fruity. It's not as deep as I was hoping for but I will try layering it with some patchouli oil I have and see what happens. It gives me a litttle bit of shampoo vibes, but I'm still a fan. It's light enough for everyday and I can't imagine it offending anyone.
Update: I layered this with pure patchouli oil which made me realize, yes I can get the patchouli base, barely. But I sprayed it a few times and all I got was playdough! Not good.

RachelMaria

The fruit wears off fast which is a shame because it’s really nice on first spraying. After that it smells like a good sweet men’s cologne.

Desert Flower

Niche Britney.
They didn’t allow more patchouli praline
though she did it well as any.

Her empire seems defined by what she doesn’t offer as much as what is expected.
Unique brand in that way.
It’s very successful.

People fight over whether white chocolate is real chocolate. Cupcake is signature.
She gets creams and coffees.
Wish I knew the secret of their formula.

This is light and I guess not the image results desired.
Updated modern hippy Britney?

Niche. No flanker.

Melissa_T

I was very hesitant to buy this due to the notes and the mixed reviews. I’m a big fan of Fantasy and all of the flankers. I love a good sweet perfume so this isn’t the type of scent I’d usually go for. It’s quite different. The patchouli is the main note with a tad of green ripe guava (not the sweet “tropical kind) and lime blossom. It’s very “green” and fresh/herbal so the scent definitely matches the juice.I don’t sense any Amber or praline so I layered this with my VS Amber Romance to give it a little oomph and it smells much better. I’ll probably have a hard time finishing this bottle but at least I have it in my Britney collection

Update- after giving this a full wear yesterday I actually am addicted to this! I can’t stop smelling myself!

anxioussteve

Interesting one. Let’s talk about the bottle and packaging for a sec… surprised that this was Britney’s first realise.. since the world made her a sex symbol from the start of her career I would’ve thought her team would’ve released something more “sexy” as a first fragrance .. pink and glittery like FANTASY.
The smell: Again.. interesting. Something different. I do like it, but it’s not very strong and doesn’t last long unfortunately. It’s a nice, fresh, lime soap smell to my nose.

SnowIce

Britney Spears Beleive - pure joy and flirt!
This is so wonderful and different from any other that I have.
Guava and tangerine are so delicious.
Sparkling fruit, unique!
6-point star-bottle is unique also!

Peaches&Cream

I must say this perfume is very earthy, green and patchouli. It is an okay perfume to me ...not a favorite, the only way I can wear it out is if I layer it so that it balances each other. I feel like this is more suitable for a cool/windy spring day as in fall wearing believe out was a big no for me.

Update: I paired this with Fiji Guava Martini (BBW) and I like it better. I was on the edge of decluttering but I am going to keep the perfume and wear it during the spring.

ByeFelicia

This was a blind buy from the 20$ shelf, all I can smell is lime and pencil crayons.. Its a no for me

Brycley

The smell of patchouli is far too harsh and it smells more lime-y and "green spicy" than guava. It is very strong and even washing my arms I could still smell it. This has to be one of the first perfumes that I absolutely hate.

csperfumes

I must say I've never smelled a patchouli heavy perfume before (and therefore don't really know what patchouli smells like), so I'm just going to describe it the way it smells to me. Initially, this perfume smelled like lime and dirt when I sprayed it on paper. On skin, it smells a bit more like lime, but slowly fades into smelling primarily like dirt. And that's all I smell: lime and dirt. It's not a very heavy scent, but I get a whiff of dirt here and there, so it's not like you can't smell it on you. Honestly the only thing I adore about this perfume is the bottle. It's so freaking cool to me, and it kind of makes me want to keep it just for the bottle, but I'm not sure there's ever a time where I'd want to smell like lime and dirt.

mburke16

Found this to be screechy and cheap smelling. Not the level of other BS fragrances. I didn't get much guava, more of a sharp scent.

hijoebye

I think the people saying this is a dirty patchouli have not smelled pure patchouli before. To me, the sweeter elements of the guava and tangerine tone down the patchouli from being dirty. Earthy, yes, but not dirty. There are nuances of honey and a green freshness that make this feel timeless and unisex. Amazing value, not your typical celebrity fragrance and very different from the rest of the BS line. I'm working my way to my third bottle of this so it's become a staple, if not, signature scent of mine! I wish they would make a flanker of this instead of million Fantasies!

mhubbard1961

I wear occasionally. Just a couple of sprays. Fresh and green, sort of sweet, different. It is a must try for the price. I like but won't repurchase

SusanTheTeach

This is definitely more of a fall or winter scent even though it has guava and tangerine. In the warmer weather, the patchouli note is overwhelming and off-putting. But in the cooler weather, the patchouli calms down into the background and actually compliments the fruity notes. The guava and tangerine are not bright, but deep and blend well with the base notes in the fall and I'm assuming it will be the same in the winter time. I almost never sprayed this again after having received this fragrance in August and tried wearing it in hot weather. I almost wanted to scrub it off. But now, in 60 degree weather it is gorgeous!

Jacquis

I recently purchased Believe EDP. This is a current formulation. It is the brightest, most vibrant fruity patchouli in my large collection. Quite the paradox of bright, sparkling fruit right next to the earthy patchouli. Both viing for dominance but in the end, agreeing to share the spotlight. I really enjoy this. Longevity for great for me on this 80F fall day. Great value.

Miss Kittens

Starts out sweet, fruity, floral, almost nauseatingly sweet, so you think oh no not another Britney sweet perfume, but then on the drydown it becomes more green and patchouli forward, more unisex, earthy and that's when I realize I like it only on the drydown, because it reminds me of a sweet version of ANGEL perfume...wish the longevity was better...

haleykbhenry

This is a patchouli bomb 💣 it started out fresh and sparkly but now that it’s had some time to sit and deepen, it’s very heavy. I agree that it’s very earthy, idk what the old formula is but the notes seem misleading because this is straight patchouliiii

torreykongjr

The original formula was fresher and more pretty. This new formula I obtained in 2022 is more earthy and sour.

Opens with; sour lime, juicy Tangerine, and strong patchouli to me.

The guava and honeysucle sit in the middle, to my nose. The sour sweetness breaks through the opening but in the dry down, it becomes stronger. The praline and amber are not noticeable but I do think they add to the overall sweetness.

Sillage is good, this fragrance projects the first 2 hours. Remains a sour-sweet patchouli that sits close to the skin for another 4 hours or so.

Flowerdreamer

I'm excited to write this, as I have both the original and the reformulated version. If you're looking for a review comparing the two side by side, this is it.

BACKGROUND: I had this perfume literally 13 years ago when I was 15 years old. Honestly it was my favorite Britney perfume. The scent to me was so beautiful, it made me cry! Part of the reason is I know how personal this scent is to Britney. I remember how unique it is, especially for a celeb scent. And I LOVED the advertisement and presentation.

So last year, I re-purchased this for nostalgia and because I wanted something sweet with honeysuckle. I was disappointed... it just wasn't the same. It had changed and lost its character and the honeysuckle was GONE. Then I found out it had been reformulated. Despite this, I still wore it regularly as it as reminiscent of its old self and doesn't smell bad. It's just not the same as I remember.

Recently, I found the original version and the minute I smelled it, I thought, THIS IS IT!!! So let me compare the two.

COMPARASSON: The first thing I noticed is the original is sweeter, fresher, and has more depth. I get a lot of the patchouli in the original, but it's a clean patchouli that doesn't take over. I also get the floral notes more here, and definitely the honeysuckle. The guava adds to the sweetness but it's not cloying. It's more well-blended. It smells sensual and mature, especially for a celeb perfume. It smells way more expensive than it is. But it still has a youthful quality to it, it smells like a young woman who believes in herself. The title is so fitting! The bottle is gorgeous, especially with the silver plate that has her signature. The bottle is way better quality. It really works for all ages, but not too young... I'd say over 18.

The reformulation is stronger and will definitely fill the room if you spray too much. You get the patchouli, a bit of amber, and guava, but that's about it. No floral notes. It also smells more unisex. The biggest distinguisher here is the reformulation smells outdoorsy. It's a dirty patchouli, not a clean one like the original. The reformulation is also earthier. It's more animalic. It's less feminine and sensual, more hippie and unisex. So, it's actually pretty cool in its own way, sense it's stronger and more earthy. And I'm sure some people would prefer that! My gripe is that it has more of a chemical smell to it and can give me a headache if I'm not feeling well that day. That and it lacks depth. That said, the reformulation isn't BAD hence why I was still wearing it. It's just more straightforward. More for an outdoorsy tomboy.

The original just... blends right into my skin. I think the scent is gone, but then I realize it just works really well for my chemistry. It just becomes ME. It mixes with and brings out my natural scent instead of masking it. Therefore, it's more subtle... sensual... feminine.

The reformulated sits ON my skin and really projects out. It's a lot heavier. It doesn't mix with my natural scent well and masks it but is more of a head turner because of its larger sileage and projection.

Longevity is about the same between the two... I get about 4 hours before I need to reapply.

All in all, I prefer the original any day. I'm SO pleased with the original and glad I found it!

SailorSydney95

Smells like guava, patouchli, citrus.
I generally like to have this on me and reach for it/miss it when its not around. Reminiscent of DKNY - the green apple one but better. Waaaaay better than Peace, Love and Juicy Couture.
I have never tried the metal top version in all my years of owning the new bottles at Shoppers.
Mature, classy, put together, clean smelling. I really quite enjoy it and will continue to reach for it.
Im excited to see if this with Sunset Fantasy mixed in an atomizer would smell nice.

Lindsconn

Believe is a fruitchouli great for spring and summer. The guava really comes out on this one which makes it very pleasant.

It’s not the most mind blowing original fragrance but if you’re looking for something just to wear whilst you go about your day you can’t really go wrong as it’s an easy crowd pleaser!

TriFrtaljČetri

This is great!!! SWEET patchouli, very long lasting, some sort of unisex but more on feminine side for me and even more to my boyfriend who said 'this is typically feminine perfume'

I have probably the very last release of this fragrance N22228A, 2022. ,5 months old it obviously doesn't have metal plate but it is a great scent.

For longest l was off put by comments about reformulated version that sucks, after nearly 2 years l finally gave it a shot, and this is gorgeous... I haven't compared it to original but for this one l can say it's long lasting (lasted more than my 8 hour shift, after which my friend complimented me on my perfume) , smells expensive, has prominent guava note(similar to one in Dylan Turquoise), it's sweetchouli and to me more feminine than LVB or Coco Mademoiselle....and if this was not from a celebrity probably would have similar price as those two.

I'm tempted to try metal plate one but what more would l want ???....simply gorgeous

Ahh yes ..downside...as some other Britney perfumes this one leaks if carried around in the bag...l 'll have to decant it, but as it's long lasting even spraying just in the morning might be enough.

kittywhiskers

Looove this, from the bottle to the fruitchouli fragrance. I consider this to be one of my signature scents, I will always repurchase! To me this smells almost unisex - there's definitely something masculine about this perfume which I love, and the fruitiness adds some sweetness but not so much so that it's sickly sweet; the patchouli helps balance it out.

Only downside is longevity - usually I'll do 3-5 sprays and few hours later I can barely smell it on myself. Maybe my nose is just so used to it. Sillage is at about an arm's length. I prefer to wear this in the colder months, something about it gives me the warm and cozies.

toutsou

I used to wear this in high school, and loved every second of it. It is a coquettish, cheeky, gourmand fragrance and is unapologetically over the top. The guava is what makes it smell like it's a little bit "off", or almost pleasantly rotten, even a little animalic. I wouldn't wear it in public as a grown woman but I would nostalgically sniff it in private like some sort of perfume pervert.

scentssilly

I want to like this, but the lime and patchouli clash together in a bad way. Gives it a... peculiar, kind of off scent. The note of guava is lovely but sadly overshadowed by the green notes.

ssamhita

Such a unique scent. I don’t think I have anything in my collection that smells quite like this. It opens fresh and juicy - almost thirst quenching - because of the guava, but the patchouli in the drydown stops it from becoming yet another sweet tropical scent. I don’t get any praline from it though, and on me the guava note stays all throughout.

There’s something so “raw” about this perfume. I think that’s the patchouli hippie vibe I get from it? This is a woman in a white dress sitting under a tree playing her ukulele, the wind playing through her curly hair on a lazy afternoon. A woman who grows her own vegetables and believes in the spirit of the earth.

This lasts quite well, and I live in very hot and humid climate. I don’t really know if others can smell me in it or not but I am surrounded by this happy scent bubble for a long time. Not blind buy safe but definitely worth a try!

ajrose

This is really good. Easy to wear fruitchouli with a tropical twist Light, airy, perfectly blended.

Edit 1: Believe the hype! This is just lovely!

DiBonD

My favorite BS perfume. Typical patchouli perfume but the guava definitely gives a different twist on this.

CatOwned

This one is ok. I can definitely smell the lime cocktail previously mentioned. This one is kind of strong on me. Definitely avoid spraying if you already had a headache to begin with.

CateCate

fformoso88: “I had bought it a few years back but I think that bottle was off because it didn’t smell right. So I sold that one”..proper i’d say! I hope i’ll never buy anything from you!
I don’t like this perfume though, on my skin it becomes too mascoline to my liking, but I recognize its originality, especially for being a celebrity fragrance!
Probably it doesn’t agree with my chemistry and plus I don’t go crazy for patchouli and guava.
It’s very different from Britney’s other scents that are definitely more sweet and feminine. Again, not my tastes, but pretty original and unique!

jil489

I don't know if it's my skin chemistry clashing with this perfume. It sprays on like a fruity-pachouli then dries down to a guava-plastic wrap/vinyl smell. My skin is generally dry and works well with most perfumes. It's unique, I don't mind it.

jesz

A new age bookstore that sells organic chocolates and a multitude of incense. You walk in, sipping on a tropical smoothie after yoga. Inhale. Exhale.

Noveight

This smells like an expensive lime cocktail with something green (the fresh patch) in it. It’s beautiful. I can see this being an everyday signature scent. Holy shit, this is Britney Spears? Sign me up for more. This is classy.

Bigsly

New type bottle (without metal). Unique unisex drydown. Sharp/green fruity at first, then that plays off the patchouli/amber base (some might even say a bit sour). Strength is at least strong, as I just used one spray to the chest. I can't say I was able to detect the praline, and it is not a super sweet scent. Another great bargain bin find!

withnailandi

Tangy, sour fruit grounded with earthiness of patchouli. A perfect patchouli for humidity and hot weather!

miffy17

I really like this, i find it very unique. Ive not come across another perfume like this - it reminds me of a lime cordial. This was my first perfume in my britney spears collection so sentimentally its definitely a favourite of mine. Ive also been complimented while wearing it a couple times. Would recommend to someone looking for a sweet citrussy scent.

fformoso88

I absolutely love this fragrance! It’s everything! I bought it when it came out in 2007 then I had bought it a few years back but I think that bottle was off because it didn’t smell right. So I just got another bottle and baby this is it! Light, fruity, juicy guava with patchouli but the patchouli is light and not dirty, thank God! I get a little spices too. I recently tried Lyncis from Terenzi and as soon as I smelled it, it reminded me of this but Lyncis is more spicy. Either way I enjoy this fragrance better and the price is great too! It’s soft, romantic and definitely different. I definitely recommend this one. I love Britney and her fragrances! 💕

kristenkr

I've been a super-fan of Britney's since day one (big shocker, I know), but for some absurd reason never got around to smelling Believe until today, when my original, metal-plated bottle (so luxe!) arrived, and *wow*. Where have I been? Dare I say it's the crown jewel of her fragrances to date? So completely unlike anything else she's ever released: decadently earthy patchouli, swimming in the delicate sweetness of the guava, tangerine, and praline. Mature, absolutely, but nowhere even close to the vicinity of "old lady." It feels absolutely perfect for warmer months, day or night, conjuring visions of a shimmering, magical forest, bursting with lush greenery and romance—far more befitting of the classic Fantasy commercial with her in a similarly fairy tale scenario. Whatever y'all do, don't sleep on this underappreciated masterpiece!

AngelikaGagalo

I have worn perfumes from Britney Spears for many years. Some I like better, others I like less.
This scent is definitely one of my favorite Britney perfumes. I fell in love with it from the first sniff.
It's for me a fresh, tropical and floral scent. It stays on my skin for a long time (even the whole day).
I will definitely come back to it when I run out of it.

colagurrrl

I finally got my hands on this and I am in love! I will admit, I was a bit nervous blind-buying this at first, especially considering how polarized reviews are. Despite that, I took my chances and snagged it for just over $20 on Amazon. This perfume is so unique, as many others have said, and it is surely a standout in Brit's fragrance line. The bottle is so eye-catching (although I do wish it was still produced with the engraved metal plate on top), and probably one of my favorite designs from Britney's fragrances! I agree that this perfume is definitely more mature than the other Britney fragrances I have tried, but definitely not in an "old-lady" way. As Fantasy, Curious, and the like would best appeal to teens (in my opinion), I could see this being a great fragrance for young adults (probably best suited for end-of-high-school, college-age, and older)! I cannot place exactly what it reminds me of, but this smells a lot like another popular fragrance from the late 2000s (for some reason, it's giving me Armani Code vibes even though I feel like that guess is wrong?). The bright citrus opening transforms into a warm, spicy patchouli in about 30 minutes. The sweetness from the praline and amber really complement the dirtiness of the patchouli base, and I adore the way this smells on me: I just recently got it, and I'm already getting complimented on it! Considering the spiciness and fruitiness of this perfume, I feel that its uniqueness makes it pretty versatile. I can see this performing beautifully in spring, summer, and early autumn, and can't wait to give it a fair chance in all of those seasons. Overall, if you are a fan of fruitchouli fragrances and feel nostalgic for the 2000s, Believe is a fantastic contender that is worth a try.

Sandra2022

I bought this because I love patchouli scents and also because it was compared to Gucci by Gucci…….this smells nothing like Gucci by Gucci. The lime note is pretty strong and overpowers all the other notes for me, it’s a no for me. You definitely need to like lime to like this fragrance.

HorseFriend

i want this one to come back into fashion. guava and my little pony hair. good stuff.

Jexotic

The patchouli comments scared me, but it was 19.99 at shoppers so I figured why not. Glad I bought it. If you have the red bottle “hidden fantasy” by Britney (heavenly, fall/winter comforting orange blossom, IMO) this is the tropical version. Still very dirty/fruity, but this one is much brighter.

Soccergreat88

I don't get much patchouli which I was hoping to get because I love patchouli but instead I get a guava note and dominant sweetness or peachiness that makes me nauseous. Its a nice scent but I cant stand peach or these types of fruity notes so this unfortunately is not for me.

I still enjoy Britney spears perfumes but I will be selling for dirt cheap or swapping if anything is interested!!

mechawitch

decided to get this despite not being a big fan of patchouli because i love the rest of the notes. disappointingly, this is very patchouli forward, to the point it's all i can smell. and it's a dirty patchouli too (the sort that makes you think "hm, this is how old ladies smell like"). i was hoping for a little bit more guava and lime blossom but i can't get any of those notes (maybe because of how much i'm put off by the patchouli note). stay away if you're not a fan of patchouli!

Melaniesherriff

Really lovely woodsy smell. Definitely unisex scent. Long lasting non evasive projection. I will wear this when dressed in jeans and tshirt and trainers. Nice down to earth kind of feel. Use to love this scent on my daughter but was mostly into gourmand type scents at the time

Jaccccc___

This perfume is AMAZING!!!!! Smells identical to Gucci by Gucci (of course which was discontinued) is soooo cheap and is really beautiful scent couldn’t believe it haha !!!

fragranceboy97

I enjoy this one! I bought it yesterday pretty cheap. Never smelled the original metal cap one however the new one I got smells really nice. I normally like sweet gourmands but this is great for something different! I sort of get “Good Girl” vibes from it.. Wouldn't call it a dupe however I think I prefer Believe!

KittyDeBeauvoir

Gaaaaah, mad respect for Britney AGAIN!

I'm starting to like this fragrance more and more - which is annoying because it's on my "To Use Up" list.

As many Perfumites have mentioned below - this is Britney's most unique scent...and a pioneer of the fruitchouli category. It is mostly guava and patchouli, but I do honestly pick up some of the other notes.

I agree that this is unexpectedly *sparkling* (not unlike some vampires we know). It definitely feels a bit effervescent. Not the MOST I've ever come across, but certainly there.
On initial spray, you absolutely get that sweet, juicy, green guava scent. Not quite the uber-sweet pink juice that comes from guava, but the whole fruit. This scent is definitely more 'green' than any other colour-smell.
Yep, colour-smell. That's a thing now. I think we can all agree that's a thing, okay?

The tangerine is tangy, but absolutely lovely. Oh, heaven! A special burst of citrus that...might be the reason for the effervescence, now that I think on it. :P

Patchouli, you ask?
Oh yes, madam!
It's there. It's always there. There's no getting around the fact it's always there. It's not a dirty patchouli (a la 'Angel'), but nor is it subtle either. So, there is an earthiness to this perfume. The earthiness combined with the tropical, watery guava fruit does give off a slight "rainforest" vibe, as mentioned in one of the reviews below. 💧🌲

Now we come to my personal favourite part of the perfume - the lime blossom.
I am coming to realise that lime blossom (or linden blossom) is BOMB. It's just a bomb scent. By that, I mean: it's singularly beautiful, and I want more of it. Linden blossom - as showcased in this fragrance - has this gorgeous, gentle waft of lime peel and honey. Linden honey does exude from its tree, so that subtle honeyed note you smell that gently coats the back of your throat is real, Perfumites. Combined with the lime peel (again, it's very gentle) - this point of the perfume just makes my heart sing!

I'm not sure if the honeysuckle is obvious or not. Honeysuckle does have that delicious nectar (literally, sucking out the nectar...anyone else do that as a kid or just my daring, risk-taking self?) that is both sweet and, occasionally, a bit citrusy. The honeysuckle aroma that I am aware of tends to be much more pungent and obvious, so it could be here or perhaps it's been deliberately toned down. Just like the "Mary Celeste", some mysteries will never be solved...

Again, patchouli is about 80% of the base with gentle amber making up the rest. If I'm perfectly honest, I don't smell praline. In saying that, I don't really smell praline in 'La Vie Est Belle' either, so I'm either anosmic or completely ignorant of what praline smells like. Which seems unlikely because I'll eat that stuff any happy day of the week.

OH! ANOTHER THING!
I don't know if this will help anyone, but I've been layering this with 'L'eau Dissey' (again, because LD is on my "To Use Up" list), and they work AWESOMELY together! The LD freshens up the earthiness of the patchouli, and the honeyed citrus of 'Believe' sweetens and and lifts LD (think effervescence again). This has been a superb discovery. Weird, unexpected, yet decidedly superb.

The sillage is fantastic. I smelled this on a colleague when I walked into the lunch room and I'm muttering... "I KNOW that smell. What IS that?"... until my colleague had enough, and finally told me what it was. It filled the room, people. Make no mistake about it.
Also, longevity is pretty dang good, especially for a celebrity perfume. I get a good 5-6 hours out of this.

So, even though I want to use this up; I'm actually enjoying it. It's unique and won't be everyone's cup of tea (linden blossom tea? Is this a thing?), but it's a worthy contender if you want a cheapie that doesn't smell like everything else on the market.

Borderline repurchase-worthy (but aiming not to).

***

Kitty rating: 7-7.5/10.
Hubby rating: 6.5-7/10 - "Smells like chamomile."

darlindol

It smells kind of like fruity hand soap, but in a nice way. It isn't as strong as some of the others I've smelled, but I'd reach for it on a day where I just want something light and fresh. I wouldn't buy it for myself, but I also wouldn't be mad if someone gifted it to me.

Beth325

Okay I previously wrote a review on this a long time ago, but my feelings have changed &I feel like I need to review it again.

I'm really enjoying this one! I had bought this when it first came out as a blind buy because I loved most of Britney's scents. Back then this scent wasn't for me. I had an OG bottle w/ the metal plate. I found it to be too heavy on the patchouli & ended up giving it away. Fast forward to over a decade later, & I found myself not minding a little of patchouli in my fragrances once in a while, especially if it was combined with either gourmand notes or fruit notes. I had smelled this again in a store & liked it a lot more than I remembered. I'm not sure if it's just a matter of my taste changing or if the rumors are true & it's been reformulated. In the past I remember such a patchouli bomb. This time around I definitely get the guava, & find this to be a great fruitchouli. After I kept running in to this one in stores I ended up buying it again super cheap. No metal plate this time. So again I'm not sure if my tastes have just changed or if this is a result of a reformulation, but I like this one so much now! The guava & patchouli blend so nicely. I've been getting so many compliments while wearing it & my husband just loves it! I'd say if you're not a patchouli person in general skip this one, but if you like patchouli w/ some sweet fruit go for it.

This might not be everyone's cup of tea, as I've heard so many people say it's their least favorite Britney scent, but it really is nicely done & well blended if you're into this type of scent. (my least fave Britney scent is definitely NOT this one, it would have to be Cosmic Radiance lol).

ScentedNorms

It's kind of soapy on me with some musk. It's very different for a Britney perfume but it's not bad, just okay. I wore it to the gym the other day because of the soapy vibes but the musk was too much. Can't think of a place/occasion I would want to wear it to. If I feel like wearing something fresh/clean/soapy, I have others that I would chose over this one, like the new Burberry Her EDT.

eau de cocoa butter

Okay she’s cute. I received the bottle without the metal plate. I sprayed this on and literally said “yassss it’s Britney, bitch!” This is a true fruitchouli but the patchouli works so well here. It’s spicy and sweet and PRESENT. It doesn’t seem to overpower the fruit, it dances well with the guava. I was pleasantly surprised because I’m not the biggest fan of celebrity scents but this smells nice. The longevity isn’t the best (wasn’t exactly expecting a beast here) but it does last for about 3 hours. I like wear this at home when I need a pick me up during the work day.

katntem

''Believe'' is unfortunately a perfume that I don't like and I can't wear it because of the patchouli in it. I can smell the guava, honeysuckle and A LOOOOOOT OF PATCHOULI...... I HATE PATCHOULI. It smells nice from the bottle but when I spray it.. that PATCHOULI...... I CAN'T STAND IT!!!!! Is is a beautiful perfume but not for me. I also think that, this could be worn from a mature woman as well. I'm NOT saying that other perfumes lighter can't be worn by grown up women, Everyone can wear EVERYTHING they want. I just give my HONEST review every single time and I hope that it is helpful and I can help someone out. I'm just saying that this one can be worn from a more grown up woman as well, if they are interested in a perfume like this. UNFORTUNATELY, I blind bought it, because there were no testers and I have the original preformulated version, with the silver metallic plate on the bottle and so many people say that it is MUCH STRONGER than the reformulated version. It is RARE these days, beacause it's not being produced anymore and it is SO HARD to find. A must have for a Britney Spears collector. It is very heavy patchouli for me, so I only used it a couple of times and I have the biggest size 3.4 fluid ounce/100 ml. So it is like new sitting in my collection. By the way follow me on Instagram, on Twitter and on My YouTube channel Catherine Ntemou

UPDATE: I wore it today to give it another chance and I like it! As the time goes by it gets even better!!!! Nice one, good quality and great projection!! It smells WAY more expensive than it actually is!! Definitely give this a try!

The only reason i repurchase this..is because everyone in my family all ages,in public&shocks me how many people love this on me...to the point i roll my eyes when their not looking of course hehe&the fact its nostalgic...gifted to me..at first spray thought it was weird funky...then the drydown fresh...lime 🌼 blossom🥝 other notes of course, just smells like sprite in a way in a dirty fresh nature way ....yet perfumey sour fresh kick to it...then mellows out to a lovely scent on my skin chemistry~i bought so many bottles because when i run out my family begs me to buy again 🙃its got great lasting power, its unique and not my favorite, yet i like it when i wanna smell fresh...its a dirty earthy fresh¿if that makes sense...then turns magical on my skin later as it mellows. Out...casual fresh dirty...sour in a unique way...weird i know 💋 i love lime&earth fresh scent&turns to diamonds on my skin chemistry~good. Scent when im in the. Fresh sour mood~

scentie

I tell you this scent is nit for everyone... I had it before and I still have a little bit left now and I just smelled it. It's good but it makes me kinda dizzy. I really didn't like it that much before when I was younger but now that I like it I just realized that it makes me dizzy lol.

Andre4242

Bought this at tj maxx many years ago and was not impressed. This to me smells like juicy fruit gum mixed with sweaty patchouli. Cheap and fleeting.

veedadee

Great scent but fleeting in longevity, sillage and overall performance. I mainly get guava, a lil lime and a heap of patch. (yessss) This has the power of a body spray. This is a good anytime scent. It is fresh and pretty. I wouldn't repurchase or recommend purchase but it's nice to have.

G$

Very light. I get a lingering scent of lime. And then a faint scent of patchouli.

Rober7a

Very much a hippy patchouli bomb. The fresh fruitiness and greenness lasted for about 30mins, after that it's back to pure patchouli, the earthy kind. I got the 2012 bottle since I wanted one with the silver top and preformulated version, so I'm confused was it always like this or did the fruity notes evaporate over the last decade. Still potent and lasts all day. But will not be keeping this, not the biggest fan of patchouli, so won't be needing a fragrance that has no other notes to balance it. However, unlike all other Britney frags I've tried, this does not smell synthetic at all and seems really good quality.

glitterfalls84

Doing justice by this perfume: I was the one that wrote a review where I said I sprayed this on me, sniffed and thought "This straight up smells like bug spray on me." I'm shifting gears over here. I think this is a winter perfume. I've been using Believe lately and that bug spray note is gone and the rest of the fragrance is in the spotlight now. I love that it's long lasting. Must reference I think I'm talking about the original formula so I'm not sure if a new formula has been ruined or not. Must say I'd been disappointed in the last Britney fragrances I'd purchased because I felt a body spray lasted longer.

Nippi

My first encounter with this fragrance was many years ago. A paper sample of this was included in Britney's "Blackout" CD. I don't know what it is about paper samples, but I'm thoroughly convinced they make them smell better than the actual perfume they're selling. I don't remember this smelling differently, just more fragrant I guess. After buying a full bottle, my first impression was that this is probably one of the nicest and most well designed perfume bottles I've encountered. It's very classic. The pale green color of the juice also compliments the bottle. Upon first spritz, the guava and tangerine are very prominent in this. They dominate the top notes, along with the middle notes of lime blossom and honeysuckle. This is very fruity, without being sweet. It's very tart and fresh. I don't get very much praline or amber in this, just fresh citrus and lime blossom / honeysuckle. This definitely isn't a powerhouse by any means. Longevity is very weak on my skin, and not very much silage, either. This is a shame, because this is a very nice, non-offensive scent. I think even more sensitive noses wouldn't have a problem with this. I assume this was reformulated, I almost wonder what those original 2007 bottles smell like and if they have better performance than my newer bottle.

Satinne

This is the only fragrance I keep coming back to for more than 14 years, this time its probably my 6-7 bottle. To bad it did have no staying power back with the metal plate. I hope it does now (As I see by the reviews the staying power increased which is wonderful) . My old favorite... Sweet but fresh. I think I will always love this, a very safe partum just like Cerruti 1881, only Cerruti smells "clean" and this one smells fresh and to the sweet side, but it is not as sweet as other Britney parfumes.

*loves_shoes*

This is nothing like Gucci by Gucci. If that’s what you’re looking for a dupe for, Don’t buy it and don’t be disappointed like I was. G by G is beautiful, intoxicating, there’s nothing like it.
This smells thin, Sharp, cheap, disappointing.
iPad the version with no metal on the bottle.

tippytee

I never blind buy fragrances. I'm just too risk averse to sink money into something without sampling. But a bottle of Believe (plastic cap) was stupidly cheap and I think I knew I'd love it. The description as a guava fruitchouli spoke to me, I loved the color and bottle and while I had never tried any Britney fragrances I had heard the merits of Fantasy and its flankers talked about among even the most serious of fragheads.

My instincts were right on. I adore this. It reminds me a little bit of my beloved 2007 Miss Dior Cherie (I think if you're a millennial woman of a certain age you may be programmed to gravitate towards these fruitchoulis). It's deliciously fruit punchy up top but not in any cloying kind of way- it's bright and zesty and tart and then I get a lovely sweet patchouli that's tempered by some green herbs. It reminds me of that Juicy Couture scent Peace, Love, and something something . I'm not going to say it's young or mature or any age- I'm going to say it's for anyone who loves green fruitchoulis and is okay with that! I don't care about trends- I love the smell of this and I'll be rocking it for a long time.

I have since tried Fantasy and Midnight Fantasy and found both too sweet for my tastes. If you like those, this might be a little too astringent for you.

sweetsucculents

This is a strong, sultry scent that's perfect- for a man. All I smell are the lime and patchouli. Which make this smell exactly like a man's soap or deodorant. Not a bad thing, but when it's sold as a woman's fragrance, that kind of defeats the purpose.

Riley96

This is a good perfume for the fall season as it has a very earthy quality to it. At first I thought it smelled way too strong but after giving it a minute I really liked the fresh smell of lime. On the dry down it kinda smells a little sour but still a pleasant smell overall and out of all her fragrances I own this is the most unisex.

karinevandal

Got this at Shoppers a little while ago. Should’ve listen to myself. Not my type of notes.
Its a weird mix of guava/lime/patchouli. Its very earthy & dirty with an herbal quality to it. It got a sharp edge, almost minty. Very unique.
I did try it multiple time just to be 100% sure my nose didn’t change. But no..
To my nose, this fragrance seems very off. Also, the bottle make me feel like its a 2$ bottle from the dollar store! Very unusual type of scent considering her whole perfume range.

I’m ok with fruitchouli fragrances. It depends which fruits and how well the patchouli is balanced. In this case: guava (which is not very common) and the patchouli is a bit overwhelming.

Just one spray feels like to much! And believe me, I’m an oversprayer (usually around 10-12 sprays).

It’s definitely not your typical celebrity fragrance.

Could also be marketed as unisex. Be careful if you blindbuy.

SIMILAR VIBE:
As I’m writing this review, I have Believe on my right wrist and Miami Glow on my left wrist. It came to my mind that I almost got the same kind of vibe from both of them and wanted to compare side to side. Change the guava for passionfruit & the tangerine for grapefruit and there you go. Miami Glow is the tropical version of the greenier/earthier Believe. But waayy better!

Sgt94

I got this at shoppers today, and was hit by a tangy bitter earthy smell, I believe its the patchouli and guava combo, it smells like my dad's after shave.

Oliviechinese

This perfume IMO has a very dirt smelling element and bitter medicine smell to it.. I could smell it right after opening the box without even opening the bottle. it was really off putting to me and I could not stand it. I wonder it I got a bad batch after seeing all the raving reviews. The bottle is really pretty tho.

Rehderja

I was not a huge fan of this one. Very bland smelling. Not unisex, more feminine.

obssessedsniffer

Have an original bottle. Considered vintage now. I remember my sister used to drown herself in this. Found the bottle recently still smells as beautiful as ever, its a little more heavier now.

jenstarperfumes

finally I have the original one with the sliver plate on the top!

bklein

When I'm in the mood I spray some Believe, originally I thought it too sweet for me (being male) but it doesn't remain that way for too long. I don't much care for any of the other Britney Spears perfumes. I think Believe is the least cloying of the lot. New bottles do not have the metal plate, which has me wondering if the recipe has been tweaked too. I don't have an original bottle to compare, so I'm non-the-wiser about missing out.

Frontandscenter

Managed to find a small bottle of the older version (metal cap) second hand for a really good deal.
It’s very nice, has a beautiful opening with the guava.
I’m not too bothered by the patchouli, for once.

Longevity’s medium, the projection awesome the first 1-2 hrs, with wiffs of a yummy praline.

An unusual treat, all in all. Blindbuy win.

Joshhiggins32

This is very unique for Britney! If you love fruits and patch you will love this. Idk about the reformulation but I just bought a bottle of it without the silver at the top and it performs wonderful and smells great, exactly how everyone explains anyways. This isn’t what I’d cal sweet either, there is some, but this is fresh and just all around nice. It smells expensive and sophisticated for a perfume in its price range and being a celebrity fragrance. Britney never disappoints with her line, I haven’t found one I couldn’t love or find something to like. You might be shocked at how much you like this even tho the notes are extremely common, it’s all goes very well together! Longevity and sillage is no joke either.

Aiga1

So apparently there's a reformulation and I got that one, so it's no good. Yes it's green and fresh but extremely forgettable and weak :(

alybee

I wasn't sure about this fragrance at first. I had loved every single other Britney perfume - Curious, Private Show, several of the Fantasies, but I'd heard this was completely different than all of the rest. I'm so glad I gave it a try because I'm OBSESSED with Believe. To compare it to the other Britney Spears fragrances, it is more along the lines of Curious than the sweet Fantasy line. This is very fresh, fruity, great for spring or summertime. Not as sweet. I like to layer this with the body cream Sweet Magnolia and Clementine from Bath and Body Works and I find it projects quite well (and gets compliments!) Absolutely love this and would recommend it to anyone.

theperfumemaniac

This smells like such a high-end fragrance. Fruity patchouli with a hint of rain.

nitschevo

I added this back to my collection in a fit of nostalgia and a personal quest to safe some of Britneys body of work in the perfume world. My first Britney fragrance was Curious and I still have a 30ml bottle in my collection today. It's one of the newer formulations but thankfully not the very latest. Juicy, musky, white flowers with a pinch of vanilla-sweetness (used to be more pronounced when it launched and it generally had way more punch) - just classy, clean and fresh. Fantasy and I don't get along (Midnight Fantasy however is gorgeous) so as soon as I stumbled upon a sealed 2012 batch bottle of Believe on eBay for 13 Euros I didn't hesitate! This is indeed similar to Euphoria (the woody-ambery undertones and interlacing of fruit) as well as Angel (the patch, obviously). But still very much its own fragrance and very daring for its time and genre. Delicious but never veering in the gourmand territory, works year-round and is perfectly unisex. The balance of light & dark is really interesting. I agree with Allure - had Byredo launched this, everyone and their mommas would go nuts. Granted - this is for the old/original formula. Snatch it up, while you can!

toni64

I just bought the original believe 100ml with the metal plate on ebay new in box for $44.90 from Aussieperfumes. So it's still available they had a few bottles left. I love the original more than the watered down reformulation.

banoffee

Just got it delivered but it fades away pretty quickly and the liquid color is nothing close to green, it's just yellow. Could it be off already? The batch code looks like this N20114A but I the website I check all my perfumes on says this code is incorrect and should be 4-5 characters. Anybody had the same issue send me private message.

Noelanii

Surprising! It opens with the guava notes but within minutes the drydown is like a Bottega Venetta flanker; a little less sweet and woodsy, but it definitely chimed Bottega to me. Since that is one of my favourite fragrances in winter, I feel like I have now found it's summery sister. Love!

p.s. I have the non metal cap version bought in UK.

ClassicsLover

I was with my daughter yesterday helping her settle into her new house and after working up a sweat in 90F Florida heat we both dove right into the pool to cool off. Right after that I took a shower and since I didn't have any perfume with me used one of hers. I really didn't even pay much attention, but just grabbed this bottle. I guess the metal on the bottle, which reading through the reviews here tells me it is the original version, but I didn't know that at the time, caught my eye and like a kid going after a shiny object, I grabbed it and sprayed.

I can't believe how much I like this fragrance. It is really nice. The guava is so refreshing, and the patchouli adds a lovely crispness. The honeysuckle is sweet and pretty and though I'm not sure about linden, as I never smelled that before, it is very pretty too and now has me wanting to seek out other perfumes with that note. This perfume gave me a really nice clean and refreshing feel that was just perfect on an oppressively hot and humid day. The most surprising thing was to find out it was a Britney Spears perfume. I was actually pretty stunned by that. I'm not a perfume snob, as I believe that one should wear whatever they like, but I really thought her scents were intended for the young. I'm not sure about her other fragrances, but as for this one, I think anyone of any age can wear it and smell good. I now need to get a bottle for myself asap.

CloudLover

This fragrance was one of my first experiences with patchouli when I first started testing perfumes. I remember walking around the mall afterwards and wanting to scrub the dirty, rubbery herbal smell off my wrist.

Something in this definitely didn’t sit right with me. It also lead me to believe that I didn’t like patchouli, which I now know is a note I really enjoy.

I wish I was able to pick up more of the fresh fruity and floral notes in this, but for me this was just a dirty patchouli bomb.

This one is definitely not for me.

Exquizeet

SCENT: The opening has a lot of fresh and juicy mandarin notes, but as it dries down there's a spicy-ness to it. I was not expecting the patchouli note to take on a spiced characteristic. It manages to be light and airy overall.

DRY DOWN: It loses the fruity sweet notes on dry down and manages to take on a slightly sweet and herbal dry down. The spicy note dissipates completely after an hour.

SEASON: Spring, Summer, Fall - The opening is so sweet and juicy, it's perfect for the hotter weather temperatures, but the dry down is almost woody, which reminds me of Fall.

TIME OF DAY & SCENARIO: Day time - It's a bright, light scent that's good for day time activities. It's an easy grab for running errands or anything really. It's not overly sweet, so it doesn't feel juvenile.

GENDER: Feminine Leaning - The opening is extremely sweet and feminine leaning, but the dry down feels quite unisex.

LONGEVITY: 3-4 hours on skin

PROJECTION: It's sitting quite close to the skin.

PRICE: $20 CAD for 100mL

OVERALL: 8/10 - I like this scent. It's sweet and light enough to be worn for any occasion. It doesn't seem juvenile. The spicy note comes and goes leaving a slightly sweet herbal patchouli dry down. It seems like quite a unique scent. I would say this is easy on the nose and it is blind buy appropriate. I would repurchase this if I ever finished it since it's so cheap, but I would repurchase it in a smaller bottle so I could hold it better. The 100mL bottle is too big and bulky to maneuver. I don't like my hand hold on this kind of bottle. This is ranked 3rd out of 4 of my Britney Spears perfumes.

hijoebye

Believe is a very unique scent with many different sides to it. It's fruity yet earthy, cool and refreshing but somehow warm too. It opens with the citrusy tangerine & lime and tangy guava. When it starts to settle, I pick up on the floral scents, but it's not a soft floral - more of a grassy herbal feel. The earthy patchouli notes are consistent throughout. Others commented it smells minty, which I was afraid of because I dislike mint and am very sensitive to it. But I don't pick up on mint at all.

I agree with others who commented on the "soapy feel" but it doesn't smell cheap to me. As reviewer 'Greenhouse' said, it has an old-school cologne feel to it, making this 100% a unisex fragrance. I really don't understand why it wasn't marketed as one! The bottle is abstract and absolutely stunning and it stands out from the rest of her collection, which is more juvenile and feminine. I have the reformulated version but I hope to get the original with metal plate as I think that small difference makes it even more luxurious looking.

I read an Allure review on all her top perfumes and they praised Believe for being sophisticated and ahead of its time, and I couldn't agree more. (They rated it #2, right behind Curious). This feels like a high-end fragrance to me, I understand it's not for everyone, but it had so much potential if it was marketed better. This is definitely a more edgy fragrance in her line that is multi-faceted and a perfect spring/summer scent for men and women alike.

One last thing to note: many Britney fans are trying to purchase from third-parties due to the Free Britney movement, which I made sure to do. Most of her perfumes were released after 2008 and I'm not sure she had a say in their development but I can definitely get a sense she was involved with "Believe" and it shows! Free Britney!

Aeiris81

What I love most about this overall pretty, sweet fragrance is that i can smell the backround linden blossom. It's a very romantic, girlish scent for me. Takes me back to falling in love under june blossoming linden trees when sixteen. Very pretty, romantic, decent sillage and longevity.

Parfumoiselle

This one is very, very similar to Rihanna's Rogue, only difference is that the latter is more leather-y and stronger. Believe is a little frutier and toned down in comparison. After a while, maybe 1-2 h, I can say that both have the same Bottega Veneta vibe. Nothing in common with Gucci or Ck Euphoria. This fragrance was ahead of its time for sure.
It's not the typical celeb fruitchouli perfume. Average projection and above average longevity.

glitterfalls84

I remember getting a bottle of this when it first came out. It was strictly a blind buy because I didn't want to use the little sampler that came with Britney's "Blackout" cd. And I enjoyed it then. Got a big bottle a few years ago and this bottle is getting down to the bottom. Surely I must've enjoyed it enough to use that much of it, eh? Well, this is where my prejudice comes in at and I'm afraid it's killing the perfume for me. I have a bottle of My Burberry and I had said that even one squirt of that perfume was too much for me. It's downright headache territory if you overspray it. And believe me when I say I'm not somebody that says that. I believe in being respectful of other peoples noses and only go wild with spraying if I'm at home. I used that fragrance as an air freshener a few weeks ago and it gave me a headache and I know I probably only sprayed 5 or 6 spritzes.

I noticed both of these perfumes have a patchouli note in them and I'm afraid it's on par with somebody pointing something out to you and you'll never be able to unsee it again. I feel like that's the only note I'm smelling and it's just a turn off for me. Those are the key words because I never want to scare anybody from at least testing a perfume out to see if YOU like it. That's what I say in a lot of my reviews. Test something out if you can. What I like might be something you hate and vice versa.

I sprayed this perfume on last night and the only thing I could think of was "Holy crap, this smells like bug spray on me." I have hopes I can finish the bottle by the smell being somewhat better in warmer weather or being able to blend it with something else. But this did teach me something...I need to avoid fragrances with that note in it. At least I see that before making the mistake of buying something and having a full bottle I'll have to use for something.

I'll give a +1 for the bottle design and I'll also give out credit to Britney for trying something different. Let me start with the credit and then I'll go back to talking a bit about the bottle. This is still early on enough that perhaps Britney was more involved with the perfumes. I know she's not in there mixing the perfumes up herself. I'm talking more along the lines of discussing scents that she's into and if we can put x notes in a fragrance and make it work. And I might be wrong there. This is the perfume that came out when Britney was going through a very rough patch in her life and perfume ideas might've been the last thing she'd want to think about. No matter who came up with the idea, one has to admit this is still drastically different than the perfumes that came before it. And it's still drastically different than even the perfumes that came after it had been released. One must wonder if that's perhaps why this perfume didn't get a sequel while Fantasy gets a million sequels. Fantasy is just safer to play with and you can crank out bottle after bottle that still plays it safe while going in various directions. Or it might boil down to sales. Britney was going through her rough patch and people basically acted like she was the most hated person in the world and the sales for this perfume might've reflected that?

The bottle is HUGE and it's a lovely green color. I should also mention the fragrance I'm reviewing must be the original because it still has the silver tray on the top. I also just like the basic design of the bottle. There's not too many different designs for Britney perfume bottles and this just stands out among all the Fantasy bottles.

I'll be fair and add an update if this fragrance does a better job in warmer weather. I never want to be unfair to a perfume by adding a slam review and never updating if the perfume grows on me. And I already feel like I'm being unfair because this review might've been completely different if I'd written it years ago.

Woodamber

It has a juicy scent of guava and sweet patchouli (without being cloying). A great balance between fresh and fruity. It feels very inoffensive and soft. I usually wear this one for moments when I just want to feel fresh.

FantasyPerfume4life

This is a very strong patchouli perfume. So much so that it's borderline a masculine scent. It's a sweet perfume but its hard to smell any other notes aside from the patchouli. This does not smell like A Britney Spears perfume. I don't think britney should've taken this perfume on, it's just not who she is and not what I expect when I buy her brand.

Malibu

BELIEVE opens with a sweetly, fruity burst of guava pulp and tangerine. Sweet, but not as overpowering in it’s sweetness as most of her other releases are - there's a zesty freshness here too.

It’s the middle notes of honeysuckle and linden blossom that make BELIEVE stand out from the tidal wave of ‘sweet shop’ fragrances out there. The middle notes lend a ‘grown up’ vintage feel, as the sweetness in the scent calms down. The base notes of patchouli, amber and pink pralines lend comforting warmth, with a hint of rough dirt underneath it all to add some uniqueness to the blend.

BELIEVE was Britney's first attempt at a more adult fragrance, and I think she did a great job - grown women & men can easily wear this without embarrassment. Such a shame that this was released around the time of her breakdown and was lost in the media storm around her...

minnosyne

Believe is sharp and spicy in the same way carbonation tickling the back of your nose is. Sparkly, effervescent fruitiness, with just enough praline to balance everything out. It’s like a light, summery men’s cologne layered with a sugary Victoria’s Secret body spray. It’s energizing and fresh without being overbearing, and for some reason smells better the more I sweat, making it the perfect scent to wear when working out. The price is also a plus- I snagged a 3oz bottle for $24. It’ll last forever too, as one or two sprays are all you need.

gtabasso

guava, tangerine and patchouli, refreshing and tropical without being a typical celeb fruitchouli or fruity floral

supersaiyan

I kind of love it, it's affordable so you can douse yourself in the summer with abandon. Smells like a tart version of those Chinese guava candies I love, with just a touch of patchouli to give it some interest.

Katchele

Loved it at first sniff.

Smells fresh with just enough sweetness to not take away from the freshness.

Along the same lines as PEACE LOVE & JUICY by Juicy Couture. I think it's the patchouli.

sibaraa

A minty flavored cough syrup with more caramel. Not suitable to be a perfume....

moscatomami

Brit is known for her very successful line of perfumes but this one is a hidden gem. Believe has come back in trend with the popularity of "Fruitichouli" perfumes- I would even say she was ahead of her time- you go Brit!

This was my everyday summer fragrance of 2020. I love YSL Mon Paris for Autumn and Winter, and I think Believe has just made the slot for my Spring Summer Fruitichouli. It is unique among contemporary pachouli/ fruit compositions because of the Guava, which balances interestingly against the minty pachouli. The mintiness had a psychological cooling affect on the hot days. Longevity is fine, some days better than others, and received a couple compliments.

Ultimately it's not a standout in my collection but I appreciate it as a foil to my Mon Paris. I got a 3 fluid ounce for under $30 online and it's worth it to me.

lenakles

I blind bought this. It took me a while to be able to wear this fragrance even though I knew from the beginning that it was a good one. Now i absolutely love wearing it. What a yummy composition, so unique and i just love the Praline in it. One of my favorites. Probably not for everyone tho. And be careful not to overspray, it can annoy other people.

honeybee29

After some research, I bought this online from Walmart for like $23. I wasn't sure what to expect really lol. This is the first Britney perfume that I own, although I do have Private Show on the way as well.
Believe just came in today, and omg, it's heavenly! First off, the bottle is HUGE and pretty, I love the color and the edges.
The juice inside is amazing!! The patchouli and the guava are definitely the stars of the show. I smell a little bit of tangerine too. This is SO FRESH, it smells sort of minty in the best way. Very gorgeous perfume, and I feel like anyone could wear it, and around any time of year honestly because it's minty, sweet, and fresh. Definitely a winner and I couldn't be happier with it, and the price. Treat yourself, buy this.

DieT CroaK

I had this waaay back when it first debuted. I remember spraying it on at Walgreens and going home just to keep asking myself why does this smell so damn good?!?! I went back the next day and bought a bottle. I had Curious (loved it but got so sick of it eventually), Fantasy (hated it), and Radiance (was indifferent and eventually passed it on to my sister). This one though is the best for me. I lost my original bottle in a move years ago but I found myself craving it recently. I am aware that there’s some snobbery going on in the perfume world about patchouli and it can get butchered in certain fragrances. Both the patchouli and amber absolutely come alive in Believe. It’s not listed in the notes but there is a slight minty note to my nose. This is going to sound weird but it smells like Doublemint gum to me in the best possible way. It’s so harmonious and delicious.

I was watching Sarah Mayes talking about her longest lasting celeb fragrances and that’s when I decided that I needed Believe in my life again. This really does last! It’s actually becoming harder to find and harder yet for a good quality pre-reformulated, metal plated bottle.

With the whole Free Britney movement underway, there’s something so sad in my mind particularly in regards to her perfume empire. It’s kind of the end of an era. Britney has been the source of encouragement, strength, confidence, positivity, acceptance and happiness for so many people. Now we are seeing that she was deliberately deprived of these very things herself. It’s so sad. Her latest perfume launches feel like lackluster, impersonal money grabs like most of the things she is attached to. I truly feel like Believe most embodies Brit at her core. She was quoted as saying that this was her most personal fragrance and her essence definitely echoes throughout. Simple, sweet, enduring, down to earth, lighthearted, refreshing, and spontaneous. This one really is a solid staple for any collection whether you’re a fan or not. The versatility, affordability and longevity are outstanding in this fragrance. I can’t really speak on the reformulated version. It seems like they hold their own. Either way, if you enjoy a well done fruit-chouli with a tinge of herbal twist, this is for you.

P.S. This smells so good layered under Versace’s Versense

gabygmde

smell bit minty on me

Tammyrobins7

I really miss that silver plate that sat nicely on the top.

This reformulation isn’t any where near as severe as what they did to fantasy, but I can tell it’s changed, that’s the problem whenever they reformulate, they always take away the depth and character it once had.

Still a nice perfume but I noticed the lime blossom and praline aren’t noticeable to my nose anymore which is a real shame.

I guess this makes a good crowd pleaser nowadays, but I miss believe for what it once was. It had a completely unique mysterious quality to it.

Try to find the real thing with the metal plate. It had more personality.

Bella1

Unlike her others! Very fresh, green! You can never go wrong with her amazing potions

spiceboy2109

This is a lovely cheap fragrance. The bottle and packaging are so beautiful. This is different for Britney, considering how spicy it is! I bought this at The Perfume Shop a while ago and I love it!!!

Heles

Opens with a bright fruity punch, but not nearly as sweet as other celebrity fragrances. Maybe 15mins later it starts coming off somewhat 'green' which I'm not a huge fan of, before sweetening up again with just a tiny touch of praline.

Overall it has a very clean vibe while still being slightly sweet. The patchouli in this is very crisp and cold.

Projection is closer to the skin, but at 20AUD for a 100ml bottle (which is absolutely huge btw) I'm not mad at it

Edit: Projects better than I initially thought, probably because I was drinking coffee at the time haha. Would say it has moderate projection

Viktoria8267

This is ok to wear i think. Bit different and might be to younger girls. Nice green color and cool shaped bottle.
suits all year around if you like.
wear it when you feel for it.

eleanorislittle98

This is a gorgeous perfume, but beware, it is not a safe blind buy! I definitely did not like it at first spray. I thought it smelled too tropical and not sweet enough. This was when I bought it in the winter. I tried spraying it again in the spring, and it smelled much more "seasonally relevant" to my nose! I recommend testing this before you buy it. It was definitely a grower for me, but it isn't for everyone!

aldinatic

I have this for the second time, it's such a beautiful, refreshing perfume at first spray and still projecting hours later. Great for spring/summer dates. You will feel gorgeous wearing it.

FragrantMama

This is one of my favorite Britney perfumes as it feels a bit more sophisticated and grown up than some of her other super sweet scents. This is a beautiful blend of fruit and patchouli. I think that they both balance each other out and so the scent is kind of sweet and savory at the same time. It is great for any time of the year but I wear it most in the fall and spring.

AlexandraTroush

Wow, this is so pretty, and so unusual for Britney pefrumes! It is slightly soapy, very fresh and clean. I wouldn't necessarily say it's unisex though, I do find it feminine. You can feel the guava and tangerine very well. It almost reminds me of Womanity Eau pour Elles by Mugler (which is basically Womanity with a hint of strawberry), it's almost salty-sweet. Very appropriate for summer days, when you don't want anything too heavy.
I quite like this. I'm still testing it out, but for now longevity and sillage seem quite weak. It is worth it for the price, though. It's very cheap where I am.

This is not at all a safe buy, I think some people would totally dislike this.

boog_boog

The guava and praline are strong in this one, i don't get the patchouli.

diegoeduardo

This review is for the old version. The new is pretty much the same, but more toned down. Still good, but lighter, brighter.

As a man, this is my favorite Britney Spears fragrance. It can definitely be pulled off by both men and women. There's something dreamy, almost mystical about it. A very individualistic fragrance. The guava/honeysuckle and patchouli balance each other out so its neither too sweet nor too dank. On my skin it really develops into this deep, dark green patchouli, which I love. I feel like this is one of those fragrances that really says something when you wear it.

Check ebay or depop for the older version with the silver plate on top.

zirzilla

I was very lucky to find a new 100 ml bottle made in 2010 for 14 euros. So my review is for the old version with a metal plate. It opens up very nice fresh and juicy with the tangerine and guava. The dry down is very interesting. To me it smells like dark chocolate. I guess it's the combination of sweet praline and earthy patchouli. Unique, not too sweet, good quality. I can see the oils from it shining or my skin. I haven't properly tested out the newer version but I've tried it in the store and it felt lighter and sweeter.

FragranceLover00

Some update on my experience with this amazing fragrance. It may sound bizarre, but this actually has changed a few times during the time I have used it.

When I first started using it, it was light, fruity and feminine. I really loved it and thought that all the notes were present to some extent, fortunately. The praline and the amber were quite prominent and I assume the guava and the tangerine were fairly strong as well. This is my first memory of it.

Then winter came. This is when the patchouli note 'went off'. I had no fcking idea how patchouli smelt then but I compared the list of notes and realized it was the patchouli that was so strong. It is almost like spearmint, fresh and beautiful. I absolutely loved using it in that cold weather. This is why this fragrance would appeal to a lot of men.

After a couple months, it changed again. The longevity turned twice as short as it used to be. The tangerine note appeared along with the patchouli. I really needed to carry the bottle around and respray it, but I did not mind.

And now, after another couple of months, the patchouli note became stronger again. I reckon that there is nothing wrong with the perfume, it is not out of date and it is stored in my wardrobe like all my fragrances. It must be my skin that gives a weird twist to it every once in a while.

I purchased Believe as a patchouli-lover, as I was intrigued by the combination of guava and patchouli. I first tried this in the winter and thought that the patchouli wasn't strong enough. Now, in the warmer weather, I decided to try it again and was utterly astonished. It is a clean, fresh patchouli, not at all a dry, woody, or particularly earthy fragrance, which was what I had expected when I first purchased it. If one is accustomed to heavy, dirty interpretations of patchouli, as one finds in the straight perfume oils, then one should reorient one's expectations. Once I reframed what I expected from a patchouli perfume, Believe clicked for me, and now I find it to be a pleasing and unique perfume that melds tropical playfulness with a woody edge.

The heart of this fragrance is patchouli mingled with guava. Coupled with these dominant notes are sprinklings of citrus and light floral that polish the scent into a summery piquancy. Though the notes list praline and amber, the scent is not at all overly sweet the way that such notes often are. There is a sweetness in the scent, but I would lump attribute it to the overall guava scent, and it is grounded by patchouli. The result is a perfume that features patchouli as a primary note, yet maintains a bright, fresh profile throughout. Very pleasant and sparkling overall.

Seaworthy

I blind bought this and I am pleasantly surprised. Fun, fruity, oh so fruity but very unique. I really like this fragrance just wish it had more lasting power on me. My bottle did not have the metal on top, perhaps the older version would have lasted longer. Beautiful summer scent for a younger woman, teen.

Sherine777

Straight up chemical soup in the most horrid way.. It made me sneeze and gave me a headache. And mind you, I love Patchouli and have a few celebrity scents that I cherish.. But this is terrible!
Maybe they've really gone cheap on quality? Do try before buying the newer batches.

Please do not down-vote as could be useful to some, if Fragrantica is only meant for praising, rather than honest opinions, then it would be useless..

Nataliemarie

Umm, This smells NOTHING like Miami Glow ?? At all.

Vikki1985

This smells like straight up nail polish remover...wondering if I got a dodgy one 🤔

Eternity Girl

Oh my gosh I am so stunned. First time trying out this perfume today and its absolutely fabulous !!! Im sooo in love with Believe.
I have always ignored this Britney perfume for no conscious reason. But today I thought why not. One spray on my wrist and I was like wowee yes please and scooped the last bottle the chemist had. Discounted to $25 so Im happy with that too.
On my skin its a super musky, ultra sweet, powdery guava marshmallow. There's no other way to describe Believe with my skin chemistry.
I feel I will most likely not wear anything else for months. I wear a different perfume every day but gosh I'm head over heels for this.
Im stoked Im flipping out for a budget friendly perfume. Can use with complete abandon. So happy :)

Katchele

I didn't realize how much I love PATCHOULI!!!
This is a fresh addictive scent to me. My daughter wears Miami Glow by Jennifer Lopez and I get the same fresh vibe from this perfume.
This is a fresh and clean out-of-the-shower fragrance for me.

tyekristopher

This has patchouli in it but it’s not a strong dose of it .on me it pulls more of the guava
And orange . I think this would have sold better when it launched if Britney wasn’t going through personal troubles that caused it to perform poorly. I think you can still get it on Amazon I picked one up and the memories came back . It’s one of her most underrated fragrances

JustSimpleThings

A very sharp, citrusy patchuli at the beginning, but it mellows out considerably within an hour or so. Then the praline accord takes over.

A very interesting scent! Not my cup of tea, but a gem regardless.

Doroty

It’s NOT your typical celebrity scent. Very nice. I get lot of musk and some praline accord but I like it. I think, it is the best of britney’s perfumes. In the beginnig it’s sharp but it fades into musky-sweet but not too sweet skin like perfume. Kinda edgy👌🏻.

FragranceLover00

Although I am a guy, I bought this perfume, as I heard it was on the unisex side. I purchased it as it was on a discount and the price was awesome. The box is cute, so I will keep it. However, what I fell in love with, was the bottle. Amazing, assymmetrical in a pretty way, it has a cute cap and feels massive. I have the biggest size (100 ml) and it is huge. Quite luxurious and heavy. The only downside of this gem is that it takes a lot of space in my collection. However, it is totally worth it.
The juice inside is as beautiful as the package. When I sprayed it, I was amazed at how fresh and sweet it was. It reminds me a lot of Mexx - fresh man (which is one of my most favourite fragrances ever), as both are great for young people. In my opinion, Mexx could be worn by both men and women, because it is not very masculine. Believe is slightly more feminine than it. They smell similar in my view, probably due to the fruity notes. Projection is great. After one spray, I could smell it within an arm length, which impressed me. I have not worn it yet, so I am not sure how much it will project when sprayed on more generously. The longevity is also amazing. I tried it on my arm and I could still smell it 6 or 7 hours later. The skin on my arms is not very oily, therefore I believe it will last forever once I spray it on my neck and behind the ears (where the skin is naturally really oily).
In a nutshell, this is a wonderful fragrance for its price.

rainme

I feel like this perfume was ahead of its time, 12 years later every house is coming out with fruitchoulis. Believe has a bright citrusy opening and it warms up to a sweet fruity-floral with an earthy base of patchouli. I am not a huge patch person but I really like this one, I think the citrus keeps it nice and fresh. It's quite strong and lasts well. Very versatile and would work well for most occasions and any time of year.

mevans

I have the bottle without the metal plate on top. Britney Spears perfumes are generally not bad for the inexpensive celebrity category. Believe is nice but nothing I'm going to re-buy once mine is gone. The scent is soft, almost like I'm not wearing a perfume but just smelling fresh, a little sweet and a bit floral. Praline and amber, where did they go? They should have stayed to help. From the other reviews, maybe I would have liked the original formulation better. I don't dislike it but it feels like a work in progress. I do like the geometric bottle very much.

As an update (a year later), I found Believe with the metal plate on top. Trying the original and my newer bottle side by side, they are really close. The original is slightly smoother and creamier. The newer formulation seems stronger, more bold. Notes appear the same. So any difference comes down to the original seeming like a somewhat more refined version. That all could also just be a result of the juice aging. Honestly, I don't know that chasing the metal plated original is worth too much effort unless you find it at a good price because old stock was being cleared out, which is how I came upon it. Believe has grown on me and I've found I'm really enjoying it now. It's a clean but sensual type of scent and the more I wear it the more I find I like it. Yes, I will now be replacing my bottles once they've run out.

LunaAnanda12

Believe is the unique smelling fragrance in the Britney line. I remember getting a sample card of this in her Blackout album and thought it was great. It smells fruity and sweet in a green type of way if that makes sense. It's sweetness is not overbearing it's pleasant. This scent is more mature and sophisticated it smells nothing like any of her other fragrances. I love the bottle as well very pretty for my collection.

SailorV

One of the best fruitchoulis in my opinion and not a typical celebrity fragrance at all! Believe smells ultra juicy and fresh, but with an earthy, warm, even somewhat spicy twist of patchouli and amber. I think what makes it stand out is the use of tangerine and especially guava, which aren't as sticky-sweet as many other fruit notes and also not used that often in combination with patchouli. It's a well-blended fragrance that is more than the sum of its part. I personally don't get a lot of praline or floral notes, but I can imagine that they're there.
I have a newer bottle without the metal plate, and if it's true that the older version is stronger and warmer, I can imagine that it must be very good... But I love the new one too, it's very versatile and wearable in warmer weather.

According to my fiancé it also smells more expensive than it is, because it's multi-layered. A while ago I let him sniff 5 different fragrances blindly and asked him to sort them from least to most expensive, and Believe won even though it was the cheapest perfume of the bunch. It's not comparable to the sweet Fantasy line, which I also enjoy.
Highly recommended, even as a blind buy if you like fruits and patchouli.

aussiecolognelover88

When it comes to Britney’s perfume empire, Believe isn’t one that jumps into your head as being an iconic Britney fragrance, I quite enjoy it though. It is indeed very different from Brit’s Fantasy range, it IS unisex, perfectly acceptable for a man or a woman, and I think it deserves props for being different, because a lot of Brit’s frags do smell similar, essentially they’re all flankers of each other.

The gourmand that Brit is known for is replaced with a sour and zesty scent, drying down to be rather spicy, it’s these spices that I think make it more of a unisex scent than one only aimed at women. The sour note is strong through the middle, at first it’s sweet and the dry down is spicy but through the middle it’s very sour, not a bad sour though, it’s pleasant.

Wonderful and clean, affordable, unique in comparison to her usual scents. I think it’s a winner, it’s certainly not for everyone, and I can see why it’s not Brit’s most popular scent, I like it though and I felt nice when wearing it.

Katyycat001

I didn’t even know that this perfume existed until I was shopping today. If I’m being honest, this is Britney’s least popular perfume and I think that there’s a reason for it. This perfume smells identical to a patchouli scented hand sanitiser. The silage of this perfume is very minimal, which is why I associate it with hand sanitiser or lotion. It has a very soft patchouli scent with a hint of fruit, I don’t smell anything else in the fragrance. The longevity is good I suppose. I read online in an article that the perfume has changed since it first released and apparently the perfume is now unisex and I can totally see that (even with the newer bottle design). Overall, it’s okay, nothing much. I don’t really know why they still sell this perfume as I’m pretty sure it doesn’t sell as well as the other Britney or celebrity perfumes. It’s a good clean scent that’s works for work and after showers.

Blueflowers

Patchouli and tropical fruit sherbert. Not groundbreaking in terms of fruit-patchouli fragrances, but it is well blended and playful.

I am a big fan of sweetened patchouli--which is pretty much the essence, on my skin, of Believe--so I find this quite pleasing and enjoyable to wear. Sometimes I crave it.

The patchouli is strong but tamed by the sweetness found in many Britney scents, and the guava note adds a tropical sherbert/snowcone element that makes me reach for this in warmer weather.

Sillage starts out quite strong, but softens quickly, and longevity is fairly average for celebrity scents--around 4 hours until it's detectable only an inch from skin.

If you don't care for patchouli, you won't like this. However, if you're looking for a fun take on patchouli in a pretty bottle this might be it. I think it's a bit of a hidden gem in terms of celebrity scents.

summerstar415

The beginning is really fruity, but the base has a lot of patchouli. I'm not a fan of patchouli so this is a hard pass.

Beth325

I had Believe many years ago, and found it wasn't for me, so I gave it to a friend. Years later I found myself curious again, especially since I'm starting to be a little more open to patchouli in my perfumes. Also I found I love Pink Sugar Sparks which has a patch note so I was curious to revisit Believe. I tested it today at Fragrance Net in the mall, and either I've changed or the perfume has. I've heard rumors that it's been reformulated so it's very possible. I remember originally thinking the perfume was very strong and the patchouli note was especially strong. I remember not getting as much guava as other people have. When I tried it today the patchouli note wasn't as strong as I remembered, and I finally got a bit of that guava note. Also I got some of the florals this time around, possibly the honeysuckle. Unfortunately I did not get the praline note at all. While I found it nice, I still wasn't compelled to buy a bottle. It's a pretty scent, and I don't think it smells bad at all, just not a must have for me. (Still like it better than the Radiance perfumes by Britney - those were my least fave from her).

Someone mentioned that the original perfume had a metal plate around it, which the one I owned years ago had. The new one does not. The one I smelled at the mall did not have the plate, so it's very possible this has been reformulated. If you like a patchouli floral with a dash of fruit, give this a try.

Starlight_moon

This perfume smells really nice- it’s light, not overwhelming, and not very sweet. I think it’s a good scent for spring or summer. The bottle is really pretty . Unfortunately it doesn’t last long, and I mean within one hour after applying, it’s gone. I can’t smell it on my skin. I recommend spraying it on the hair instead, it will stay longer that way.

92juanjavier

This perfume came to my life at Christmas 2007.
My cousin decided to give it to me because I'm a huge fan of Britney.
The box was the first thing that caught my attention, I loved it because it's not the typical box that opens up, and the bottle is one of the most beautiful I had seen in my life, a pale green vial in the shape of a diamond , because it really is a precious stone, of that triangular shape and with a heart that Britney puts in all her autographs. Later I started to collect Britney perfumes but ended up getting tired because she kept getting perfumes (which I never used)
This is Britney's first perfume that has no "brother", a unique rarity and very, very different from everything that Britney has in her collection of perfumes, a delight.
It's quite intense and strong, it's a perfume for cold days in my opinion.
The most intense in this perfume is patchouli, tangerine and amber.
It's very elegant and to use on special occasions.
In my skin it smells very intense. In the drying reminds me a little of Mugler's Alien, but perhaps because of the excess of amber that it has.
I like it but it doesn't drive me crazy and that's why I have a full bottle (of 30ml), for more than 10 years (and it still smells like the first day, amazing.)
The longevity and the sillage are brutal.
Britney should take risks and make these types of perfumes more often.

avierra93

If I took a bath in alcoholic Capri-sun pouches this is what I think I would smell like. This is my new favorite after a morning rinse-off, with Cabotine being my favorite for night. Fresh, sparkling and juicy like the bottle implies. The patchouli is barely noticeable but adds just enough earthiness to the mix to keep it from being popsicle city. Blind buy gone right

bobo1

Smells alot like Danielle by Danielle Steel

cassandra5322

First of all, the bottle is gorgeous, looks even better in real life the way it sparkles and its facets shine like a gem. Believe is a sweet fruitchouli scent. Its main notes are patchouli and guava which makes it smell slightly exotic. The opening has a citrusy note which disappears and makes way for the main notes. Pralines sits softy in the background and gives it a gourmand feeling. This perfume is different from most of Britney Spears perfumes, mainly the Fantasy line. Believe is less sugar-sweet and more earthy-sweet. Consequently, it is also more mature, suitable for people 20 and up. Silage radiates within arms length, and the scent lasts 4 hours on me, considerably better than the Curious line. I give this scent a 4.5/5, I like it a lot and would wear it in the daytime during winter and fall.

Mitch29

Believe is the only Britney's perfume that I ever liked. I see everyone enjoys Fantasy, but it smells really bad on my skin, same is with her other perfumes. But Believe always was good, I have used few bottles. That was perfect for clubbing in my wild days because it really smells more expensive than you pay. I always thought it smells like Gucci (brown bottle), that is discontinued. Believe smells fresh and spicy, I think it has amber and patchouli. Someone said it smells like cologne and I agree. But that makes perfume just more interesting.

galelynn23

LOVE THIS!! I'm so glad I bought this perfume years ago BEFORE reading the notes here because I am NOT a fan of patchouli which is the first note listed. So if you don't like patchouli, don't write this one off without trying it first.
I can smell the patchouli a bit but the mixture is just beautiful. I'm usually a sweet fruity perfume girl but Believe is NOT sweet and fruity but it's one of my favorite perfumes ever. I would describe it as very green and clean, but not like a soapy clean. It's hard to explain but I get the most "You smell good" comments when I wear this one. I have 2 large bottles now because I'm so afraid it will get discontinued like my other favorite, the original True Religion. lol
Oh and IF there is a difference between the older batch (with the tin plate) and the newer batches without it (I have both) I really can't smell any difference.

Mooniq

I bought the newer one without the metal plate. Its an adult nice scent with loads of Patchouli, sweet Patchouli, feminine Patchouli, I also get an airy Ambernote and some Pralin-note. Patchouli very often makes me sneeze, but I like it alot. I thought it to be syrupsweet and girly, its not. Its an adult scent to wear and its elegant, a bit flirty and chic. This is my second Britney to try and I like it alot.

Grundgett

Personally, this isn't my most favourite Britney perfume (since I love her sweet smelling ones and this one is very crisp to my nose) but I do have to say everyone, and I mean every single person I come across keeps complementing me whenever I wear it.

carrico1986

This smells of Lime/patchouli and I get a hint of chocolate also. This is a sexy, spicy scent. The boyfriend likes it also. It lasts about 3-4 hours. I would classify this as a night time or going out perfume.

RacconCat

Guys. I have a question. Is it out of production? Here in Russia it isn't represented in stores. I can buy it only by internet, and the price is growing. So, is it still in production? Thanks

SJames92

I really like this perfume. It's so unique and different from all of Britney's other fragrances. I really think this should have been marketed as a unisex fragrance because guys could totally pull this off. It has a total cologne-y vibe to it :)

simplegeek

The bottle:
Love it!! I love how it looks like a crystal pyramid. Matches with what the scent is inside.

Inside the bottle:
When sprayed you get a blast of guava then a few seconds later a strong patchouli smell with it. When it dries you can smell the other element that tame the patchouli.
Longevity is VERY long like possibly can stay till the next day.

Overall:
It's a great perfume for someone who likes earthy, sweet and strong scents.
If someone who is not a fan a patchouli this scent might be a hit or miss for you. Even though there is a strong smell of patchouli the other notes are able to make it not harsh. It is a very strong scent so if you are a little more sensitive to perfume I would skip this.

Princess Adora

This is my least favourite out of Britney Spears perfumes,I use to wear this but i ended up disliking the note in this which smelt like grapefruit to me,Britney usually does nice fragrances but this is one I will not repurchase again.

ladyjm89

I could smell the patchouli before I even took this out of the box! But it’s not a heavy, nauseating patch, it’s very fruity-green, and juicy. The dry down is definitely patch dominant, but you can still smell sweet guava and the praline. Honestly I smell zero citrus here. This is definitely a solid like for me. Good for late summer, early fall I think.
If you like fruit-chouli frags, this one’s a keeper! Honestly nothing else really smells like it.

Scent: 7/10
Sillage 6/10
Longevity: 7/10

Jag02010

I'm a mega Britney fan, but have never owned any of her scents. I will admit to having blind bought this mostly as a gag (I'm planning a Britney theme party and thought it would go well with my costume), but I'm actually super happy I grabbed a full size bottle of this. The opening is very true to the listed notes - it definitely smells like a Push Pop or some kind of fruity candy on my skin for about 15-20 minutes. But once the patchouli and lime blossom start to kick in, I get a really interesting spicy floral with a more subtle fruit undertone. All in all, it's a scent unlike anything else I own, and I definitely will be wearing it again. It's a nice daytime scent during the spring or summer where I want something light, but still interesting.

odie

On my clothing this scent retains the integrity of the pyramid. On my actual skin is another story. Talk about a serious woody/bitter scent that is quite linear. It just goes straight to that earthy patchouli. No guava, no honeysuckle, no praline.

This is definitely a scent for who it is for. Britney meant it for young girls and that is who should wear it. This radiates so beautifully on my 18-year-old sister who just bought "Believe" on Thursday, having purchased "Curious" last month.

My sister is definitely curious; about life, love and human behaviour in general. Just maybe, this one speaks from the heart. I have no need for this because I don't spray perfume on my clothes. I believe perfumes should agree with one's chemistry and "Believe" is not for me. However, my sister raves about it - doesn't want me to spray from her bottle myself and celebrates owning it. That's how it should be. Beautiful bottle and presentation too!

k5rakitan

Without looking at the cheat sheet first, this smelled like a fruity chocolate to me. It's a surprising combination of scents and I adore it.

The second spray reminded me of rainbow sherbet.

After the top notes dissipate, the patchouli comes across nice and silky.

The bottle was a must-have for me. I added some of my own charms to it with green rhinestones. Now looking at the pictures online, the bottle looks so naked without added charms.

EmmaBelle

Not the usual sweet and girly offering you get from a Britney fragrance. The initial guava fruit blast, which smells like apples and custard in this to me, gives way to a very pleasant patchouli. It definitely smells "green" as it's a little sharp after the patchouli takes over. I get patchouli, fruit and amber on dry down. Apple pie and custard followed by a tequila slammer is how this would taste.

juniemoon

This is the ONLY Britney fragrance that I have kept, and believe me (haha) I have bought a few, and have tried many. Every other one has smelled too tart and lasted at most 15 minutes on me (I'm talking all the many, many Fantasies). It must be the DNA of these compositions that just do not work with my chemistry.

But THIS one happily does work for me. I love it. It's sweet but not overly so. The patch, which I don't have a problem with in any case, is moderate and goes nicely with the citrus, blends well with the sweet praline and the guava opening. I also love the lime blossom.

It has moderate longevity on my fragrance gobbling skin which I am happy with. I also like that I can smell it on myself for about two hours after application. I'm a believer.

Selena

I own quiet a few of britneys fragrances,
The ones I love are, in control, naughty remix, curious, midnight fantasy & hidden fantasy.
You can find em as bargains, this however has no staying power on me.. Unfortunately it smells like a body mist that consist of guava & patchouli, it lingers for about 20 minutes. Then poof all gone.
I actually love the smell at the beginning but it doesn't last, it's a no from me britney.

Tasali

I love Britney's perfumes and thought this should be another safe blindbuy.
I kind of regret buying a big bottle since it smells like dandelions on my skin. The drydown is powdery and a little strange.
I can't decide if it is a like or dislike.

Soofiya

I'm a fan of Britney Spears perfumes and It was a long time that I wanted to add believe to my collection, but it's signature perfume of my best friend and I thought if I buy believe she may not like that.so I decided to forget about owning believe.until the day I received it as a birthday gift from her!so now I have an emotional attachment to this perfume.
About the packaging,I like it a lot.wish all perfume boxes opened like this one.it's bottle is also beautiful and I love the green color of the liquid inside.I usually stay away from green scents so I don't have too many green bottles.by the way mine doesn't have metal top
About the scent,it's not my type at all and it's very different with other britney perfumes.it opens with fresh fruity notes of guava and tangerine.juicy, refreshing and non sweet but even then I can smell hints of patchouli.patchouli is a tricky note for me.I like it in super sweet scents when there's just a light touch of it but it's strong here and as time passes it becomes more and more prominent.the only perfumes I have with such a strong patchouli note are angel, tom ford white patchouli, beyonce midnight heat and rihanna reb'l fleur.I have a like-hate relationship with all four.I find patchouli easier to digest in believe.it's not a dirty patchouli and not a dusty one.it's fleshy and green here.
Believe develops differently on my skin in different days.sometimes I can pick up a hint of warm sweetness of amber which rounds the edges a bit and sometimes there's no sweetness and it stays cold and green.I can't detect smallest hint of praline in it but I bet I'd like it more if I could.
all in all I won't call it a sweet perfume.it has some sort of freshness and a green vibe but I can't call it a real green, fresh scent.it's fruity but different with mainstream fruity fragrances.it's original and interesting at the same time easy to wear.I never saw it as a unisex perfume because I associate it with my friend who is a gentle, delicate and graceful young girl.but once I met a man wearing it and I'm home,I didn't find it vaguely feminine or out of place.
I believe, believe can be used year round but I prefer it for spring.it's work appropriate and good for casual wear.as mentioned before it's not my type and I don't love it but I crave it sometimes and I believe it's superior to most celebrity offerings.longevity is really good on my skin(also on my friend's skin).I was able to smell it on her even hours after applying so I assume it's sillage satisfying
If you're looking for a fruity scent without much florals or sweetness give it a try

weegee

I'd heard there'd been a reformulation but I didn't confirm it until today.

Original Believe is heavy with linden with guava taking a backseat to both the linden and a lovely breeze of amber hovering over a steady stream of chewy patchouli. Original Believe has a silver metal plate on top of the bottle with a stylized engraved "B".

REformulated Believe has no metal plate - the top of the bottle is just clear glass. GONE is the beautiful linden that put me in mind of Annick Goutal's Eau du Ciel. (See my review from 2011 waaaay down the page.) What reformulated Believe has become is a bottle of guava juice with a weak patch tossed in - but if you love straight up guava juice it just might hit the mark.

If you want to smell something glorious get yourself one of the original bottles with the metal plate before they disappear. The reformulated version is a different fragrance entirely.

betty_bounce

This is definitely very sweet, but one of those frags that change with the weather. The first time I tried it, it was like sniffing undiluted guava cordial. Guava guava guava. Later I found an older tester with the metal plate on the bottle. That was less sweet, and the patchouli came through more, but still super sweet. It's still 90% guava, 10% patchouli. But if you like sweet scents and aren't too fussed about complexity, it is nice enough. I did find that spraying lighter helped, as well as leaving it for cooler weather. The green patchouli balances the sweetness better then and the other notes can get past all that guava.

HeavyBeatsUK

It’s a no from me on this one. It’s as if the fragrance can’t decide whether it’s a boozy patchouli perfume like Mauboussin or fruity berry scent like Midnight Fantasy.

It also smells a little bit like cough sweets.

Sillage is soft, longevity is poor.

2 out of 5 stars from me
