Dear Gucci! Why on earth would you discontinue such a masterpiece? Why? But why?

JackieM

There's something really familiar about this, but then again Y2K was the golden era for scent for me, so it might be buried in my mind somewhere. I had not remembered testing this when it was readily available but I think sense of smells knows better than the conscious mind.

In any case there's something wonderfully herbal or spicy about this, I'm sure it's the carraway, but it gives a licorice impression somewhat. Def not too sharp, actually the opposite. The powdery and the vanilla are so perfectly blended that it's incredibly hard to separate here. Rich, but not to the tune of Addict. Can be a daytime/ everyday scent, but a very glamorous one. Effortless and interesting!

Creamy_ambrette

The reviewer who said this smells like Dior hypnotic poison and addict had a baby is spot on! Take the dense dough-like vanilla from HP and add the floral, woody vanilla of the 2002 Dior Addict add some leather and slight animalic touches and you have Gucci.

Having said that, Gucci is unique, sexy and a gentle beast. The caraway is used judiciously and to my nose, adds an interesting aromatic touch along with the thyme.
Reminds me of anise.

Fantastic performance and longevity but never becomes cloying.
It’s very expensive on the grey market. I have a 75% full bottle and a huge collection so I would sell or trade my unused 30 Ml with the box - if anyone would like to swap please look at my “wants” shelf. DM me for swap/purchase info :)

Every time i wear this wonderful perfume, i imagine moments from the past.
Sometimes i'm in the dressing room of a 1930s or 1940s star, other times it's like smelling a fur coat soaked in essences such as Iris, Orange Blossom, Incense.
Blurred images, mystery, seduction, glamour, femme fatale.
A Tom Ford and Daniela Roche Andrier masterpiece for Gucci.

Smokeandhoney

A deep, dark, rich, woody, leathery floral with an aromatic touch. Dramatic yet smooth. Velvety, plush yet has an essence of biting strength laced through (don’t associate “bite” with being bad). I feel the bottle really depicts what the fragrance is trying to portray. It’s heavy, strong glass but entirely gentle and translucent but the juice, a deep, dark brown, almost opaque. A shallow, stout square for a bottle but the lid is round however, but in the same thickness, height and width. The mould made into the square bottle that holds the perfume is curved, abstract, asymmetrical — imperfect. It all comes together to become quite a piece of art. This perfume is moody in the best way. One of Gucci’s best. I can’t quite describe the scent in terms of the notes that I get at each stage, I can only try to portray how it makes me feel and the fragrance it emanates. It is masterfully blended. It is punchy but powdery, more of a herbal, cool aromatic spice than warm, it’s suede like but still a little animalic, it is ever so slightly sweet but not in a “cuddly” or “hug me” kind of way but this would make someone want to embrace you for longer and take in the way you smell. It’s dry pencil shavings in such a likeable and elegant way. You know a perfume is good when there’s a struggle coming to explain it. It is mysterious, smoky… and too good! The perfume in my collection that I would say if it was a person she would be a lone wolf, hard to figure out but still has an aura about her that makes her approachable. She speaks softly and eloquently and makes you feel like you can talk to her about anything and all your special interests she acquires knowledge of too, she knows a bit about everything but doesn’t shout about it. Old soul type of wise. She walks around with her earphones (not AirPods they still have wires) and her playlists are always retro, full of stuff her Dad listens to, bands you don’t know and songs you’ve never heard, an eclectic mix tied to no particular genre. She doesn’t have a fashion aesthetic or follow trends, wears what she wants and that’s usually combinations of delicate vs grunge… elegant septum ring, white puffer sleeve cropped bralet with full length denim skirts and Doc Martens, whimsical vintage dresses inspired by Little Woman with a dark lip or jet black feline liner on her eyelids… mix metal rings of gold and silver, dark nail polish even in the summer, vintage Gucci bag, watch, and men’s wallet… only wears real leather… makes a thrift shop men’s leather jacket feminine and her own by customising it with lace, cutting it off cropped or painting it with moody floral motifs. She will let you get close and she seems semi-relatable once you’ve given her time, but take heed… make no mistake by crossing any of her strong, finite boundaries or defy any rule or non-negotiable in the book she keeps to herself and for you to figure out and pick up on your own you’ll get door slammed in a way that isn’t aggressive or definite or absolute in the moment, but she will let you know once you next cross paths and it will be as if she erased you from her memory and that you never existed.

The fragrance is really long lasting and has a beautiful scent trail. Why oh why Gucci did you make the unfathomable mistake in ceasing the production of such artistry like this? Tell me!

Katrin77

Perfect alone. And a forever-love.

But try to layer it with Black Orchid… and feel the magic unfold!

Clare101

I have the dupe from Divain and its very close. It does indeed have that "coca cola" vibe and a fairly strong one at that! The only problem is that it dissappears slightly quicker than the original but I can live with that as it is still great value for the money!!!

classic-soul4ever

Marlene Dietrich in full femme fatale seductive mode. This is L’Heure Bleue without the “blues”. An evident ode to the glorious perfumes of the past, Gucci eau de parfum -never loses its own individuality nor its sense of modernity though. One of the greatest floral-Oriental fragrances ever created. Beyond tragic that is gone.

Laurus

This reminds me of Dior Hypnotic Poison and Addict. It has this plastic note which I suppose is supposed to be vanilla. I can not apreciate it. I only get this plastic note and some leather and incence. Does not smell flowery at all. I do not enjoy it. EDIT: This is growing on me. I reallh like it now. I get some creaminess that smells better than Addict and Hypnotic Poison.

candyfluff

Amazing perfume. The combination of caraway with leather and vanilla is really sumptuous. Easily in my top ten of perfumes. Love this.

mo choudhury

😁 just coming back from last year when I said im on the hunt. well ladies, the hunt is over! and it's a gift set too! 😁
boy how I missed that smell 🥰 so seductive.

ajraccounts

wow. totally forgot that i'd owned this until i saw that i sold it on ebay years ago. (and damn, had i held onto it for a little longer, i coulda sold it for so much more! lolsob) it was beautifully made, with a lot of depth and elegance, but sadly it was not for me. i still remember it so clearly. on me, the heliotrope note others have described as marzipan-y — something i despise — dominated from the beginning and remained strong throughout. and the drydown felt dominated by sweet vanilla/ ambery notes. the spicy notes, incense, leather, etc. remained very much in the background, making this smell quite gourmand-y to me — too gourmand-y, for my taste.

brokesta911

Gucci Gucci Eau de Parfum (2002) - leathery heliotrope - #danielarocheandrier combines her soft and effortless style using Iris and Heliotrope. Sadly discontinued. Starts the accord with this boozy yet powdery violets. I also get a very aromatic spicy top - cinnamon, anise and caraway. This transitions to an elegant approach with Iris mixed with a leather-suede accord. Smoky incense, vanilla and sandalwood make up the drydown.

Selfscentred

Heavy Heliotrophe heaven. It has that cherry marzipane-vibe that I always get from full-blown heliotrophes. Sensual, self-assured and seductive, this is a must smell for any lover of powdered spicyness infused with a bit of leathery skank.

Jexotic

Scored a whole vintage bottle at a thrift store. Thought it might be fake but didn’t care because it was 7 dollars. Top was cracked, perfume a dark amber.

Upon closer inspection, it’s real. And wow it is amazing.

Lolapoop

To all of you who are truly longing for Gucci eau de Parfum, I recommend Majda Bekkali J'ai Fait Un Reve Clair ..
Resemblance is uncanny . There are some diffrences ,of course ,but overall impression is spot on.
That being said ,me- great enthusiast of Gucci ,I must say Majda Bekkali is maybe even little bit better.

ScentedPlaza

I loved this one. It was the heaviest in my collection. Why did they discontinue this masterpiece? I recently bought the Oud Edition by Montale & get a slightly similar vibe when wearing it out in the cold.

tlusif

At first spray, Gucci edp tugged at my off-the-beaten-path heart. The powdery heliotrope, gentle wood, and incense seamlessly blend with hints of spice, aromatic, and balsamic notes that provide a seductive combo of funk and silk. Eau de Gucci also has an undeniable presence...and wearing it makes me feel that way, too. My only criticism is its disappointing longevity.
Review is on a vintage bottle. (The bottle, with its juxtaposition of curves with corners deserves praise as well.)

m00nlights

My mom wore this often when I was younger but she doesn't wear perfumes in general anymore for some reason. But she gifted it to me and although I don't wear it, because it's a little heavy for me, I still smell it now and then when I miss her...

This scents it's very different from how fragrance are today, but it's likable. I smell a lot of wood, powder, leather (a cold leather) and iris.

michalka9

There is a dupe for this perfume by Divain perfumes Netherlands, however didn't try it yet

Zersaid

If anyone still have this, please text me. Have been searching for decade!

Mr Nosy Parker

Sad how it is discontinued Daniela (Roche) Andrier, she created an excellent floral oriental composition. She deserves much thanks. It's been years since I tried this, so I can't comment on sillage or longevity sorry. Looking at the notes will last longer then the others.

Pamilo

@Charrise – one of my all time favourites. I still have a little; just daren't use it. I occasionally sniff the nozzle to remind myself of the magic ❤️

Charrise

Please God, please bring it back. I still can't believe it was discontinued. Why? It's so seductive.

ScentSavant_1970

This is a masterpiece. I first started wearing it back in 2003 and it very quickly became my signature scent. When it was discontinued, I was heart broken. I looked everywhere and couldn't find it at a reasonable price. It was very EXPENSIVE. Well, fast forward to today. I found it for sale at a very reasonable price in a fragrance group that I joined on Facebook. I immediately purchased it and got it 2 days ago. I didn't care what size it was as long as I could add it to my collection. I was pleasantly surprised when it turned out to be the 75 ml bottle which was larger than the bottles I used to have. It's STILL beautiful. After it settles down, it's the same powdery, spicy scent that I fell in love with. I'm thrilled to have my all time favorite perfume back in my collection. I still can't believe that I was able to get one after all these years. It's a shame that this was discontinued because none of Gucci's perfumes are as good as this one IMO. NONE. If you can find this at a reasonable price, BUY IT. You won't be disappointed.

angelina.hz

It smells like a cold medicine. If you like feve delicieuse from Madison dior, you’re gonna like this.

mo choudhury

just like coco mademoiselle, I don't care if i got this for my ex. that's not stopping Gucci Eau de parfum from being my all time favourite women's perfume.

I'm actually on the hunt for it just to add it to my collection. 👁️🔍
its worth having in anyone's collection, male or female.

GinaDK

Just got my hands on this bottle and I have to say, I was much more impressed by it back in the days. It's a like but not love. So if anyone is looking for one in Europe for a reasonable price, hit me a line.

HollywoodNovaBaby

This is a beautiful cold fragrance. I say cold because this vanilla isn’t warm, it’s a bit powdery and irisy. It’s gorgeous.

UnearthlyApothecary

Such an unusual scent experience! I have never smelled anything like it. Iris powder and plastic baby-doll head heliotrope meet skanky leather and spice. This smells like a good girl gone bad, for sure. I absolutely love the caraway in this, there are very few women’s scents that really feature it, Hypnotic Poison comes to mind and in a way, this one kinda smells like a skanked up version of HP. The leather accord is top notch, smooth and supple. Gucci is so spectacular and signature worthy it’s a tragedy it’s been discontinued. I’m going to treasure and hoard my bottle... after today, very special occasions only!

ArijanaMea

Ive been using Gucci eau de parfum since 2003. Since its been disconnected Im buying it on Ebay, and wherever I can. It still can be found, but prices are very high. I dont mind, since this is my signature parfume for almost 20 years and when Im not wearing it I dont feel myself.
All this years Im trying to find something similar, replacement of some kind, but no luck. Until today!
Today I received my Divaine 512 - and I almost fainted. After years and years of searching - here it is - my Gucci eau de parfum. After I sprayed it for 2 minutes or so it was bit harsh, more floral then original, but after few minutes when it settled down - that is it - that is my Gucci!
So all of you out there that still searching for PERFECTION - voila, check Divain parfumes, and without fear or hasitation order No 512, you wont regret!

SailorV

I remember that I liked this fragrance when it was still available, but in my memory it was warmer than it actually is now that I got the chance to sample it again. It's funny how the perception of scents can change over the years.

Anyways, this is still a lovely fragrance. It opens up quite spicy with an animalic undertone, I think it's the leather mixed with the caraway, but to my nose it's also a little reminiscent of cumin. But it never goes into fully dirty or skanky territory, the vanilla and all the powdery notes balance it out. Heliotrope blends so nicely with the leather note, it makes it feminine and delicate like some soft gloves in a taupe color. To bring the composition to perfection, iris adds a layer of cool powder and sandalwood warms up the base. The blend is so smooth! It's a sophisticated scent with the ideal balance of fluffy sweetness and darker, spicier notes.

I think Gucci took some of the DNA of this fragrance and transferred it into their newer offering, Gucci by Gucci, which also had a brown presentation and was already discontinued in the meantime. They don't smell the same, but there is a common base. This Gucci EDP is better to me though, it's much more rounded and elegant, so I'd recommend everyone who already likes Gucci by Gucci to try this.
I won't go out of my way to get a bottle as they're hard to find now, but I love to smell it and am thankful I got to sample it again.

Toujours

I first used this around 2003, and am nearing the end of an old EDP purchased back in the day. It is the most carnal, slutty (in a good way) perfume I have worn. There is a definite whiff of pencil shavings about this, developing into an almost 'dirty' smell, reminiscent of sweat, vanilla and, frankly, sex. A man could wear this quite confidently, as there is a masculine vibe. It's a fragrance to grow into. There is nothing sweet or playful about this, and it's a crying shame that it was discontinued. I shall be scouring Ebay soon for a replacement.

sadaluminum

I like this scent so much, but I don't think it is for everyone. To me it smells like vanilla coca cola spilled on a powdery leather old car interior, with a smoky tobacco-incense clinging to the car interior. The vibe is dark and sickly sweet in an herbal way, reminding me of fernet or licorice, but not actually smelling like either of these. Even though it is cold and vaguely threatening, it also blends nicely with my skin it warms up to a powdery, spicy mulled wine.

Even though it smells sexy to me, it is not flirtatious or romantic. Would pair well with a gothy dominatrix or 90s femme fatale villain business woman in a skirt suit.

I haven't smelled anything like it. I can barely recognize it as a perfume because it is so smooth and unusual. I first got a sample of this when I was around 14 and would sniff it in my room, afraid to put it on because it was so different from the VS fragrances I was used to. I have rarely worn this in public but I treasure it and it transports me. I got a small travel-size bottle on ebay recently and it was exactly as I remembered it.

elledeelee

I am SO surprised from the reviews to find that so many people truly love this! But wouldn't it be boring if we all liked the same thing?!?
I accidentally bought three sample sprays of this thinking it was Gucci by Gucci. It's not, and it's not really very nice to my nose. Spicy and a bit powdery but somehow also cold and aloof, the woman who wears this doesn't let anyone get too close to her, emotionally speaking. Very very soapy, and herbal, with only a hint of sweetness. The soapiness is specifically Imperial Leather soap, which was the absolute bane of my childhood. It dries down slightly prettier and sweeter, but still it's not a bit of me at all. Big nope.

MsLittlejohn

New 1 oz bottle up for trade! 😊

aliora

There's nothing I know on the market that's like this. I will always love it, but I'm downsizing my collection and will be selling a massive bottle of it (I have another smaller bottle with me for myself). See my profile for details.

LeSucreRose

WHY??? Why, Gucci??? Please bring this back, I beg you. It is early-2000s sexy fabulousness in a bottle. It brings me back to my early 20s all-night party days. I found a slightly-used bottle online recently that I am now holding onto for dear life! I’m afraid to spray it for fear it will run out. So sad.

Avian

I too mourn the discontinuation of this masterpiece. I hope we can find as many similar scents as possible as I will need them when my bottle runs dry.

Gucci EDP is a gorgeous papery-vanillic heliotrope nestled on the smooooothest leather and brushed with gentle caraway and powdered sandalwood incense. Any scent that can replicate Gucci EDP will probably need the dreamy purple flowers, a pinch of spice, and leather or suede.

Sometimes, LPRN Black Perfect scratches the itch, although it is not quite as magical as Gucci EDP. It is sweeter and has that cherry edge, but the leather-almond-heliotrope works nicely.

Bvlgari Black captures the softly sweet, slightly bitter leather, but it is devoid of the amazing floral presence in Gucci.

Divin Enfant has a similar dirty powder as Gucci, as well as elegant flowers, but is lacks the exotic incense/wood/spice of Gucci EDP.

LL Minuit can almost be Gucci EDP Legere. Not the same scent at all, but could be related as a flanker. Very elegant.

Alkemia Madam X is probably the closest of the bunch. Iridescent iris, buttery leather, and very nice incense and wood touches. Needs more spice though, but the patchouli has a little kick to it. It is still a touch lighter overall, and once aged, the flowers become more prominent, diminishing the resemblance to Gucci.

diaanz81

Gucci was on some kind of an insane bender, discontinuing all their best fragrances. This one slipped under my radar because I was obsessed with her sister Gucci II and man did I almost miss out on something good! The rich brown color of the juice is perfect representation of this fragrance. To me this is a rich, balsamic and addictive scent that starts of powdery and this lingers through out the duration of this fragrance. The florals and a hint of spice comes through too but the base is the real star here. I am not the biggest fan of incense or leather but in this composition these notes are so in tune with the other notes and is beautiful. BEAUTIFUL! Bring it back!!!!!!!!

lisajmunro

I adore this perfume. It's warm and spicy - when I smell it, I imagine sipping a chai latte or mulled wine under a cozy blanket by the fireplace. It's so unique to me, I haven't smelled anything very similar. It's definitely sophisticated and mature but in a sexy way.

It lasts forever on me - I put it on one morning and it outlasted the whole day, being covered up by another perfume, a shower and a whole night's sleep - I could still smell it faintly the next morning!

Absolutely gorgeous! I'll treasure my bottle until the sad sad day that it runs out :(

D&gredcap

Baccaratt.....this is not super feminine....it can be absolutely versatile and it works amazing in men. It’s sweet at the dry down but not gourmand sweet.....nothing can be close to this fragrance. I hope it helps

Baccaratt

Hi may I please know what fragrance for men smells very similar or goes in the direction of this fragrance? My mom used to wear these herself and I loved it. It also reminds me of her.

pasha

I mourn her death every day. Still have a bottle, but I am afraid it will not be enough.

If I owned a perfume house myself, this would be the second established creation that I would fully rip and dupe. The first would be McQueen Kingdom.

Cold yet creamy leather, exotic caraway, and powdery incense. Light flowers and some vanilla. Not gourmand, nor is it easily decipherable. It is exceptionally sexy, airy and distant. A fully bodied impactful perfume that captured my heart once and it will not let it go.

One of the few cold orientals that somehow received a release as a mass-market perfume. Nowadays, this sort of thing would never happen. Huge huge huge loss for this brand and for all of her fans imo.

Kittykatkin

I don't think it smells at all like Aromatics in Black, which I have, but I do agree with Judithclare 100% - Terry de Gunzburg Goutte de Mercure is so much like it! Initially I wasn't sure (the patchouli was strong at first spray and I don't remember smelling any patchouli in the Gucci) but after I let it settle oh my goodness - it smells exactly like I remember. Now, if only I could afford it...!

Edit: turns out that my tastes really have changed over the last 16 years or so since I last wore it. I remember it fondly but it’s just not my kind of fragrance anymore. At least I no longer feel the need to mourn its passing!

Egirama

Try Clinique Aromatics in Black, very similar to this one.

Judithclare

If anyone is missing this beautiful fragrance as much as me then the only perfume i have tried that smells remotely like this and trust me I have searched high and low, is Mecure de Gouette by By Terry.
Not quite the depth and slightly more of a violet top note but VERY reminiscent and very beautiful.

DrRosie

I loved this so much, I have been looking for it for about 10 years. Finally 11/26/19 I found this in a little store in Montreal, I was so happy to find it. I will cherish this and will be very careful when I use it since it is a discontinued fragrance.

tanzp

I have a pretty much full 50 mill bottle for sale or swap with box in nz smells amazing

vilmaexplorer

My absolute favorite perfume! So sad I can only find old samples from ebay, cause they are quite bad nowadays. Anyway, it´s a very sophisticated scent, heavy but never pushing. Very powdery with a touch of whiskey and vanilla. Said to be a night perfume, but I´d like to wear it all the time!

Holli

This scent is smooth. Gucci was doing sexy stuff in this time frame! I wore Rush at the time, but I wish I'd worn this instead! The spices are really toned by the leather and heliotrope. It has a cola vibe to it. Warm and soft and smooth! Easy love.

Becw08

It's such a shame this has been discontinued - gorgeous balsamic warm and classy.
So unlike anything that Gucci have produced since.
And the bottle! Such a great art deco esque flacon!

candymarie

Artfully composed to take you on a journey through top, middle and base. Old school in that regard. Wonderful at all stages.

I agree with Mapache, though, that it's not super spicy. But that's okay with me. I would describe it as luscious at its peak. Beginning is dry and incense-y, evolving into a floriental that's more oriental than floral. Latter stages are round and soft, but strong mix of all the notes. Just yummy.

11PHOSPHORUS11

This perfume puts a spell on you, you evolve and suddenly understand that this is exactly where you should be - very empowering!
Floral, complex and strong yet delicate-like a woman.
I wear it mixed with a strong masculine perfumes and E-v-e-r-y-b-o-d-y asks me about it!
Shame these truly stupid people at Gucci discontinued this one (AS WELL!)
If you'll find it, mo matter man or a woman BUY IT!

GRAF

This could be easily a unisex scent IMO, safe and very pleasant. I tried the first formulation. All I get is strong heliotrope, strong but well balanced and not overly sweet vanilla, mild but noticeable incense and mild beautiful leather. The caraway is intensive at the opening but as time passes it calms down.
It has moderate to soft projection, moderate sillage and it's a long lasting fragrance.

wenna41

...scent of a Vamp! Enough said.

epicurean

A stone cold classic. Why it was discontinued is beyond me.

justfloral

Strange. Smells like a big nonaerated carpet shop from the 80-ties (sour carraway-like unpleasant scent of synthetic linings) + sweet burning plastic.

mateuszolech072

Very dark beauty, full of incense but not the one from Gucci pour homme. Incense here is more like thai one. This one is tricky, sometimes I get a lot of caraway, sometimes leather and incense and sometimes clean soapy blast of neroli. Daniela Roche Andrier has created Bottega Veneta Knot Absolue and this one has similar vibe to Gucci, but they're not identical.

Jovette Paquin

Anybody knows where i can find it? Is it finished for this beauty?
Thank you! :)

stephanie.jackson

Just got a 1oz bottle from Perfume Emporium for under 60.00 dollars. I had ordered the Gucci by Gucci but was sent this instead. Not complaining

Cauda Pavonis

Powdery animalic oriental. Retro in style, very classy. Lots of indoles from the orange blossom with a sweet but soft ambery base. Warm, dark, and lush, this is a fragrance of another era.

Edit: I was wearing Chantilly today and wondering what it reminds me off... and it's Gucci Eau de Parfum! Gucci is a little richer, and has more depth, but Chantilly is *very* close. If you want your Gucci fix but are having a hard time finding it, try Chantilly.

deda147

For anyone who is searching for a great replica/dupe of this gem: try the rendition of Perfume Parlour. I have had about 6 bottles of Gucci EdP; some of them differ in strength and development, so I have quite some experience how different batches develop on my skin. I personally believe the PP dupe captures the essence of Gucci EdP very well.
Yes, some elements aren't that strongly present. A list of the differences I can perceive (I bought an oil version, so the opening is different from a spray version):
- The opening isn't that sharp, it's softer and less distinguishable
- The caraway and thyme are more mellow compared to the original
- The neroli and iris are toned down, but the heliotrope is still noticeable
- The basenotes appear more quickly and like the other notes, they are less distinguishable.

Whereas the original is more of a smooth calf leather jacket, you could compare the dupe to a suede leather jacket. It's smoother, less detailed but it still manages to capture that wonderful, snuggly feeling of the original: soft suede, smooth incense, wonderful combination of spices/vanilla/wood and a touch of florals.

It's worth a shot in my opinion! Can't comment on longevity yet. Sillage is soft, but the original was always soft on me, so I guess that's not a bad thing. I also don't think the original would benefit from a lot of sillage, since it would become too overwhelming. You can consider me quite impressed with this dupe. It's also a lot more economical compared to the prices the original is going for these days.....

PS: Not affiliated in ANY way with Perfume Parlour.

Edit: So I have had the dupe for quite some time. Compared to two bottles of Gucci, the dupe contains more vanilla and is a bit sweeter. I also suspect it's amped up on the white flowers and the white musk. It kind of misses that spiciness; it doesn't have that 'Dr.Pepper-effect' compared to the original. To conclude, it's a more clean version, albeit a very nice one.

GPH I sister - well...other story. We have a monster longevity here, and a very interesting combination of ingredients. The result is a princiar perfume, long lasting, distinctive, sexy and mysterious in the same time. Tom Ford at its best, working for Gucci. A masterpiece, better than her brother GPH I, also beautiful but weak with zero projection.

kati77

Super scent. Interesting, because unusual. It has a deep woody note, so masculine, even cognac. In addition to the depth of cinnamon, in addition to all the other mixed ingredients create perfumes ideal for the December season. Durability of 10 hours - excellent.
They used real cinnamon to make it, not like nowadays when real spices are forbidden in production by EU.

mapache

I received this today...The more tall bottle..1 oz edp, some call it "gucci brown".
The opening does remind me of Gucci Pour Homme I, but not 100%....sister and brother...
It is probably a re-form in this bottle...sigh...
I like the scent, glad to have it. The dry-down however, is lack-luster on me. I thought this may have been more spicy, but it is in the middle.

kameron

this is absolutely stunning. I can say without ny doubt that is similar in vibe with the Gucci PH I - same feeling even different composition. But no comparsion in sillage and logevity with GPH I which are truly disappointing. Gucci parfum (unisex!) lasting almost all day on my skin and everybody asking what I wear. What a dicovery, so happy!
Siilage 8/10
Projection 9/10
scent 9.5/10

Ranya

Old times...when GUCCI was...you know, Gucci and nothing else. Deep, dramatic, full bodied, with a mistery around every spray, very good longevity and definitely unique. yes, discontinued from years but it can still be found, pricy but worthy! You can t go wrong with this. if you love Britney Spears or Mariah style in scents, stay away and don t waste your money with this piece of an art. Fabulous. 9/10

This is a beautifully seductive perfume. I discovered it when I bought the Tom Ford Gucci PH for myself. I recommended the Femme to several friends who loved it and bought it. Of course it is now stupidly discontinued. Gucci once had distinctive and desirable fragrances. Now they have none.

SuzanneS

Gucci 1oz edp spray bottle
This has to be reformulated because a lot of the reviews mention its richness and sillage. In this version its about arms length then becomes a skin scent rather quickly.

Upon first spray the green slightly bitter neroli and heliotrop play in a soft way. This whole fragrance is slick, and reminded me of a Tom Ford fragrance.

Well Tom Ford released this while he was under the house of Gucci. Its a formal, lived in scent perfect for work, datenight or anytime. Its a soft suede leather with vanillic balsamic woods and caraway. This is definately a gender neutral fragrance

It had average lasting power and im glad to have this to wear when I need a great fragrance for after work drinks. This one dresses you uo in a unique way. Well done. I can just dream of the 2003 formulation. Its still worth having in any form if you are 30 and over.

an.jorePipip

It is green/bitter powdery on me...three sprays and I keep sniffing on my wrist. Something about it reminds me like faint Habanita, but more subtle and green. This one and Gucci EdP II, are most praised women's fragrances that Gucci ever made. Gucci Guilty? Naaaah

naipe

I simply regret not having tested it when it was released (or at least I do not remember having done it) after managed to get a sample of what I suppose it is a recent formulation. I really can imagine its glorious past although what I have experienced these days is a weak juice with low projection, and I am sure this would not have happened with a Gucci EDP in 2002.

I came intrigued by the role of a dominant leather/incense note in a feminine perfume, especially in a Gucci one and I thought it would also work perfectly on a man. Well, Gucci Parfum is so cleverfull blended that all it suggests is the perfume of a fierce and daring woman that sporadically might be borrowed by her man, pure irony.

Most of the time I am smelling a classical floral fragrance excited by spicy caraway and supported by a tremendously dirty and masculine note I suppose it is thyme. I find this mix very audacious, unusual, incredibly sexy and persistent. The fragrance is pretty linear but slowly moves to a feminine base of sandalwood, vanilla, musk where again another dirty and masculine note of leather appears, strenghthening the playful game.

What else can I say? Another gem in the vast Gucci legacy.

there are three perfumes i am missing the most
Gloria , Shalimar Initial and this!!!
it breaks my heart not being able to enjoy them any more.
oh yes ..bring those jewels back!

For The Love of Perfume

WOW, this IS lovely!! Very rich and smooth. Softly spiced and creamy. A well blended fragrance...you can still buy this at Fragrance X.
I blind bought this because of all the wonderful reviews, and I am glad I did!! Thank you everyone! :)

sepheme

Is there a sexier bottle? The substantiality of this high modernist goblet serves only to contrast the rarity of its contents, which are reminiscent of the finest cognac. One spray was all it took. The fragrance was sexy, without being cloying. Rich, without being overwhelming. Tremendously long lasting, but applied judiciously, close to the skin. I probably won't shell out enough to buy it again, but this was my introduction to smokiness, leather and spices. It's been nearly 15 years since I've worn this. I suspect it would be too sultry for me now, but would love to revisit it.

perfumeaddiction

Darn this one is simply amazing in every way! I have it and adore it. I found a bottle for a great deal on Ebay and grabbed it. I had been saving my partial bottle for special occasions but now I can wear it regularly once again. I'll save the new bottle for my back up stash.

This one is really special because it's got something in there slightly different then other fragrances that gives it a special edge. Something spice to it that is warm and sexy. I don't understand why it was ever discontinued honestly it's a little masterpiece of a fragrance. Shame it's so expensive now being it's discontinued. I wish there was something else like it out there but I have yet to find it. The only one that seemed to share similarities is Alexander McQueen My Queen. But that is also expensive.

I have a review below but would like to add to the chant "Bring it back! Bring it back!" even if as a seasonal limited edition.

Bring back 3 3 3 !!!!

I remember the first time I smelled the scent in the heavy glass bottle, I was thirteen and thought the bottle looked like it had rum or whiskey in it. It was a fancy store in Stockholm and I sprayed it on my wrist - I remember sniffing it the whole day (and next day) thinking it would be my signature scent when I was old enough to buy it.

I've tried to find other perfumes but nothing measures up to this classy babe perfume. Its creamy, spicy and a little sweet - it sort of reminds me of how my cat used to smell, like irresistible or musky.

- Gucci edp forever -

beautiful scent.. period.. lucky to have this with cheap price

fyre92

Does anyone have a cap for the 2.5oz bottle? Mine is broken and im in need of another :D

LaUna

This is delicious sultry feminine scent. Suede and spice at first with hint of vintage adelhydes settles quickly into soft musk clean shampoo, mild powder and delicate flowers. Such a gentle comfort scent that wears close to the skin and a cozy mood uplifter. Each note is softly pronounced in right doses.
Glad I got it recommended, and definite must try for most who favor the notes listed. Keeper for sure :)

Olotitan

This Gucci is absolutely sexy and sensual and sultry!
I love this Juice it is definitely androgynous, inviting and will seduce your senses and those around you.
Buy this Gucci EDP 2002 if you can get your hands on it as they have discontinued it and many beautiful creations from the house of Gucci, it's a shame.
But I do thank Daniela Roche Andrier for this absolutely beautiful signature scent!

Unfortunately like many memorable and classic fragrances that will never come back, this is one I'll never forget SEX in a bottle!

NoirDesir

The PERFECT fragrance. Why is it discontinued? i want it back. It smells like feminity, arousal, desire and passion all together. It is marvelous!

lastcenturymodern

This is every bit as good as they say it is, and probably my favorite powdery leather after cuir de russie. Cumin or caraway in large doses can get sweaty but here it really helps connect the leather scent to the skin in a pleasant and sensual way. The balance of the spices and inedible vanilla is superb and there is the slightest hint of something herbal (and also anisic?) in the background that keeps the scent fresh. I guess heliotrope is at the center of the composition but it never feels thick or doughy and just provides a mild sweetness and creaminess that is nicely juxtaposed with the cool, watery iris. Andrier has a way of creating interesting compositions that somehow feel effortless--this one could easily have become retro or melancholic (at times it's reminiscent of classic guerlains like l'heure bleu and apres l'ondee) but she manages to maintain a sort of lightness and insouciance throughout that feels modern and incredibly stylish.
I think it's unisex, leaning slightly towards feminine. Would be fantastic on a man too, definitely.

Brain-in-a-vat

I'm a guy and my signature perfume is (or at least was...) GPH 1 from 2003-2013.

I was in a Singapore Department store last weekend with a lot of discontinued stock, saw 3 boxes and bought one 50ml for little€ as I have friends that use it. I was intrigued by the reviews here and bought it either to give away or at least get my money back on eBay after having a jolly good old analysis.

Firstly there is zero resemblance to the male contemporary version at all and I don't get the Coca Cola opening as some people report although maybe a more complex hint of Dr. Pepper, play dough, Operating Theatre ether or chloroform. That does go after a few minutes, though.

It's a weird tincture alright and unique as were all the Tom Ford creations. I would be interested to see how it smells on a girls skin, not mine. I may wear it a few times out of curiosity but it is way too feminine and dense aroma albeit not in a girly way at all. It reeks class and differentiation.

I also don't get any obvious Caraway note as whatever's in there is overpowering & complicating that. Something flowery is dominating here and I don't know the notes that relate to flowery perfumes as never had any interest in them or worn them previously.

After a while some incense comes through but not male like church incense. More like frangipani or Balinese or Thai temple offering sticks...

After the powerful opening it settles to something very sophisticated and unlike most women's smells.

I imagine this on some sexy & fit 30-40 yr-old lady with impeccable couture and living on 5th or Park Av. ...but one that earned her way there rather than found a guy that did.

Also; I would advise that only one squirt is EXTREMELY powerful and totally enough, if not actually way excessive. This goes on for many hours too. I would advise 1 very weak squirt only - otherwise the subtlety and enigma will be utterly lost. This should just lurk underneath and mystify:- not blast all and sundry in the environs.....

blake.lee

Sweet, fuzzy, cosy leather. It's like wearing a well worn leather jacket over a cashmere sweater while you drink a vanilla latte. Very unique and very good.

this review is to ADSTARBABY:
i used to love Gucci and Gucci II and now that these perfumes are discontinued i have found a replacement for it, incredibly but true and as long lasting as Gucci is Avon Imari Elixir which i find very very close to Gucci i have both perfumes and to my nose these 2 fragrances smell very similar, i hope u can find it in your country, it is very cheap but very good quality perfume, i think you should try it.

Rochellesc

I use this sparingly to begin with because it's such a unique fragrance but now that I read it's been discontinued, I shall use it only on the rarest of occasions! Powdery yet earthy and strangely comforting. I got this at Marshall's in a gift set that came with a large spray parfum and two "dab" ointments (one in a lighter version, the other was the regular?) and I will be forever grateful that I snatched it up out of pure curiosity!

adstarbaby

I've been using this for years until it was discontinued.

I can't find it anymore in my country, nor on online. I didn't use credit card so I can't buy it outside of my country.

Wearing this, I feel very confident, bold and sharp.
By the same time feel so sensual & mysterious.

Whenever I walked in the office, everybody know that it was me.

Bad side about this, I'll get allergy rash on my neck, where I sprayed on. Maybe my skin got problem with certain ingredients. Hack, I always ready with the allergy cream & apply it, problem solved! Regardless, this scent is still & will be always no.1 for me.

Until now I keep searching for replacement that similar to this.
The scent keep haunting me! :(

Woody Floral Leather

I can honestly say that I have never smelled a perfume like this. This is so unique, and it has such a unique character. There is a lightness to this perfume, but there is also a presence. It is never loud, but is always detectable. There is a stunning clarity to all the notes--nothing is obfuscated by large amounts of powder or musk. The perfume manages to be clear without being screechy, or conversely, too soft. This Gucci is simply amazing.

Caraway is a unique note. I've never worn a caraway-centric perfume before, but it adds a deep woodiness to the perfume, vs. being spicy. Sweet, clear heliotrope and caraway go together like peanut butter & jelly. After the topnotes melt into the skin, a very discreet incense note joins the mix, and the leather note--the leather is not a beefed up, smoky kind, rather a pleasantly worn leather jacket on a chilly fall day-that kind of cold leather scent. That woody heliotrope-leather accord is to die for. The basenotes become less floral, and the sandalwood, incense, vanilla, and a hint of musk finish things out.

This perfume is never loud, but you are reminded throughout the day that you have it on, it projects in just the right way.

I know that this perfume is discontinued (I spent a bit on 30 mls of the juice, and then loved it so much that I snapped up a used 50 ml bottle that was 3/4 full) and even though is it is not a floral/fruity/clean perfume, I think that it is perfectly understated and modern and wearable almost 15 years after its release. Bottega Veneta eat your heart out.

If you like this sort of thing, get it while you can.

WOWZA this one is lovely. Warm, fuzzy, cozy. It's really different from anything in my collection. While it's warm and vanilla like, it's not heavy or overwhelming. Therefore this could easily be worn in the summer. The leather note is ever so faint and not heavy. It's warm yet fresh and clean smelling. Just when I think it faded it's still there. It's not an in your face type scent like other Gucci's can be. I understand the love for this perfume it's very well done. I had sprayed it by my desk and I kept smelling something over the past few days that was just so clean and pleasant. Then I remembered it was the Gucci.

goldeneraglamour

Gucci EDP smells like a clean and fresh take on heliotrope to my nose, reminds me of fabric softener for some reason. Soft and not too sweet. Oddly enough I’m not detecting any incense or leather. I do have trouble identifying leather in perfumery though, but incense is something that I can usually pick out. Good longevity and soft-to-moderate sillage. Well-blended, complex, and unique.

polly golightly

Kristina25

I'm in love! Spicy, smoky, vanillic gorgeousness wrapped in soft beautiful leather. It's a gem of a soft oriental and it's a travesty that this has been discontinued. This is so seductive and womanly yet it's cosy and comforting. A winter warmer for sure! Perfect for evening wear and cocktail parties . I can see it being a head turner and impressing men and women alike.

This is what Gucci should smell like. It should be their signature fragrance. It's a fragrance for sensual, classy women who know how to enjoy themselves. And that's how I feel wearing it.

Avian

I have tried an assortment of indie, inexpensive, high-end, middle-eastern, and every-other-descriptor-type of perfume. However, this may actually be my favorite; I fear that it will run dry too soon, so I save it for special events. As perfume collectors, you will know how significant it is for me to say that If I could wear only one perfume ever, it would be this one. An absolutely stunning blend that is perfect in every way; when is any perfume this good? It is such a pity that this gorgeous scent has been discontinued!

ClippyluvsMU

I was fortunate enough to find this frag several years ago; one large bottle and a gift set with two solid perfume compacts. THIS is my second fav frag in the world, only surpassed by Jil Sander #4.
Smooth and rich, this wears for at least 12 hours solid on me, and on clothing, for days.
I review a vintage bottle that was purchased about 13 years ago.

The positive reviews say everything, notes, etc...I will only add that I wish that I could find this still---

It makes one feel rich.

hbomb9410

This is one of the smoothest, most well-balanced fragrances I've ever tried. Heliotrope and incense are notes that usually put me off, especially in such dominant roles, but here they smooth each other out just so. Vanilla lends the composition warmth and accessibility. The caraway just sort of winks at me here and there, while the leather and sandalwood solemnly anchor everything down. I love this for the holidays, or any cold-weather special occasion. It's too bad this fragrance has been discontinued. Try it if you can get your hands on it.

Yayatan

Warm, creamy incense. Never thought that I would like a incense based perfume, but this is not bad. It's not something I would wear though. *heave a sigh of relief for my wallet* A sharper top note would have added dimension to this perfume as it smells pretty 'flat' on my skin.

PLUMPIE

Beautiful and unbelievable that this was created in the 00's as it smells old and mysterious (in a good way just the type of fragrances I like), sensual, spicy and inviting smooth like cashmere. The first couple of hours you really get the caraway but once it melds down and softens it's hauntingly beautiful. I consider this to be like a masculine version of Classique EDT - creamy spicy, vanilla cashmere smooth but with caraway in place of the ginger/anise notes that are in Classique. The bottle is terrible but very beautiful like a big solid whiskey decanter - the lid is a giant piece of glass that sits on top but doesn't actually attach to the bottle. If I come across another bottle I will snap it up!

well the good news is I got my hands on a vintage partly used bottle. It still smells the same but my love for this has died. I am relieved that I am not tempted to go spend up on large on Ebay now. I had my taste of the past and it wasn't for me any longer. I have let it go. RIP Gucci EDP you were a great perfume though and they should still bring you back.

mod25

This was one of my first 'adult' frangrances - in every meaning of that word. Adult because for me it smells like pure luxury, and most def targeted to those who are well over 18+. You just have to stop being a girl/boy to truly admire that scent.

Not getting sentimental, but my heart broke a little when I discovered it has been discontinued. And I am just about to run out of my last bottle.

On me it smells sweet, but not too sweet, and intense, the drydown is just amazing, like a bit leathery/leatherish powder. Even vanilla gets its own makeover, it is no longer girly and flirty, it is confident and dark. For me it is a perfect warm and spicy scent for winter. I am gonna miss it.

I can't help it but I am sure that if Tom Ford made that exact perfum for his Private Blend label (or for his main brand) it would have been a smash. And the price would be much much higher.

Eloquaint

I think it's time that I accept the fact that I simply don't like perfumes that are made to smell like perfumes. Not without damn good reason, anyway. And if you're still with me after that sentence, I salute you.

Luca Turin once wrote, or said, and Chandler Burr recorded, and I'm paraphrasing here, that he hated Angel at first because at that point of his life he still thought that women should smell like flowers or fruit (or maybe it was candy-who remembers?). I know very well what flower and fruit perfumes smell like-and so, I'll wager, do you-and I also think there's a class of perfumerie that aims simply to smell like perfume. Just as classic colognes have in common citrus and lavendar, and fougeres lavendar, coumarin, and oakmoss, perfume-perfumes all have something in common, something that, sadly, I cannot name. Something chemical, cloying, sweet but without an identifiable character. Like an air freshener for people.

Gucci EDP in a nutshell. There were about ten good minutes of toasty cumin and fine leather, but then it all went to hell.

Planet_X

Hot dry womans skin. To me - perfect gymn to sensuality. But its sort of forbidden in dark world, it hides itself. Exquisitely made, as nor leather neither even cumin are not screaming here, they all are in soft wrappings of neroli - you just drifting away, into the world of fantasies.
To me - Gucci Eau de Parfum associated with movie Equilibrium (maybe coz of those minimalistic leather costumes and dramatic decorations) as something sad and tragic in its tonality (incense with heliotrope) like when Sean Bean is reading Yeats:

I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly because you tread upon my dreams

Bang! - and Christian Bale shoots him down.

Overall - love it, noticeable, long -lasting and futuristic

Jerry Can

I gave this to a long-time and still very dear friend several years ago. It was our favourite. Cant find it anymore, and presumably gone forever. If anyone can suggest another that has a close resemblance for us to consider, please message me. Thanks if you think you can help.

pravda48

opens with a lot of sweet vanilla and caraway's unique spice profile. Very yummy and exotic and warm. It has a creamy spiced feel from a very smooth sandalwood (& only the creamy aspect of orange blossom vs the actual scent of it.) A softened leather/heliotrope comes through with only the slightest hint of a powdered edge, like the soft fuzzy lining of a leather glove, once the initial vanilla spice mellows. It's so very different; something about sniffing it out of the bottle reminds me of Dr. Pepper (soda) w/ that fizzy spice quality. Something about the drydown (45 min+) has a barely animalic tinge that I find incredibly alluring, but just a pinch and just detectable up close. From this point I also get the tiniest hint of sweet incense smoke, but I almost confused it for heliotrope's haziness it's so slight.

All these nuances and its uniqueness make it an easy 'love' for me. Happy to own a FB and one of my best blind buys ever. Good sillage at med/soft and great longevity @ around 8hrs last time I wore it.

LadyPilot

Yes, it had something of a bitter medicine and this particular note lasted on me forever, while others evaporated immediately. I tried and tried, but no matter what time and season it was - there was no difference. Despite the adorable bottle and my desire to use somethig non-floral and more sophisticated, I never decided to get this. Now over 10 years have passed and I don't regret not buying this perfume, even though it's probably no longer available.

jtd

I don't think this perfume is made any longer, but I have a pile of carded samples that I bought years ago for $.25 apiece at some old perfume shop. I always liked it in that dirty pleasure sort of way, relishing that cheap thrill of mild sleaziness of enjoying a cheap perfume.

Trying this perfume again after a few years I realize my mistake. I found these samples at some mistakenly low-price and the made amateurish mistakes of equating cheap with Cheap.   This is a beautiful, simple floriental, one that eschews the genre’s typical diva-ish complexity in favor of simple, well-chosen broad strokes. I smell it as if it is under an olfactory magnifying glass. It's laid out like paint-by-numbers canvas that only has the colors orange flower, cumin and amber filled in. The artist stepped back, realized less might be more and left if in its simple state of beauty.  Perhaps more mainstream perfumers should try this pre-editing, because Gucci EDP smell a little rough at the edges and just right.

This simple structure makes a tightly knit perfume that remains coherent through drydown.  Smelling it years later, it seems like a fragrance that could be released today as a masculine woody floral.

beatrix75

it has nothing to do with masculin feeling ,its 100/ feminine soft uniqe expensive smell !!!!Lux in a botle my always favo ever

Tine1world

How can I possibly add to the reviews here. Needless to say so many positive and apt descriptions.

I am still yet to learn the instinct behind note determination. I do smell the blood orange and more over the raspberry notes floating in between the leather, with an over all long lived creaminess. a TAD medicinal and tad flat cola orish. Just like the rest of you. This screams sophistication.

I should have purchased the lot, as the universe teases me consistently with bargains, and my 50 mill EDP was 17 aussie dollars last year in spring.

Realising at the time that this may be discontinued, not knowing if I'd appreciate this fragrance.

Pity. Oh and yes what a heavy paper weight of a bottle. Yes the type that enjoys this is rare indeed.

Cheers T.

deda147

This might be the best blind buy I have ever done. I was contemplating whether I should buy it, since it was quite expensive. I'm very happy I did though!
The opening is heavenly: I can clearly distinguish the orange blossom and heliotrope, which give a sultry yet fresh opening. It quickly dries down to some sort light spicy (I guess that's the caraway), sweet and light powdery scent. The opening notes are still noticeable, and they perfectly complement the middle notes. The middle notes last around and hour on me, and after that the base notes come into play. It's like the middle and opening notes are enveloped into a cream of sandalwood, leather and incense, in other words, fantastic!
The sillage is quite strong the first 2 hours, but when the base notes appear it quickly turns into a skin scent. The first few times I thought it only lasted about 6 hours, but as others have mentioned, it really becomes a second layer of your skin, which you can still smell after 10-12 hours. Not particularily feminine, but also not quite masculine. It's just a magical potion meant to be shared by both the sexes.

CeciliaKu

The opening is spicy yet smooth. The base is very vanilla with a musky and nutty feel to it. The incense and leather notes are only very faint.

Gucci eau de Parfum is intentionally a soft and intimate fragrance, not so heavy with the spices as some may think and quite feminine rather than being unisex or masculine.

Mmmmm - lovely scent !
Been hunting down this, for a while and have now got it.
A fine blend of the spices, heliotrope, leather ,iris, light wood and musk.
This is mixed to a soft powdery, lovely and a bit daring scent.
It has something of a unisex skinscent aura around it,
one that I always tend to like and get back to.
It has the cosy soft blanket feeling, if you know what I mean ..
And I like the fact that it lacks the patcholie, for once...
The coca cola note is obvious in the beginning but easily forgotten.
I loved this from first wear and am happy trusting in that faint memory I had , of wearing it once if only for a test.
Thanks norgirl for another swap , with happy ending of ours !

Gucci EDP is one of my all time favorites!! For the price, this perfume makes me feel as if I am living a life of pure Italian luxury!! :)
The warmth and spiciness of the fragrance is enveloping like a fine leather coat...hood and cuffs lined with "real fur"... and radiates
like the Mare Internum coast on a balmy October day... :)
Intimidating sillage and longevity, on my skin, in cooler weather.
Gucci EDP is one of my "confidence boosting" scents... gives me a sense that I am bold, daring and unashamedly classy :)

I bought this today. This is lovely lovely warm, seductive and comforting scent. My newest LOVE!

Alexander McQueen My Queen + Cinema YSL, I smell heliotrope, leather, amber - not listed, smoke... really nice

Gucci Eau De Parfum has this unique scent that makes me feel like I took a step back into the past but I cant differentiate if it is the 50's 60's 70's 80's or 90's.. It is mysterious and I guess that's why! The bottle is a work of art and truly shows how Gucci use to be a brand that made quality stuff.. The top is made up of orange blossom and a beautiful heliotrope.. The heliotrope blends with middle notes of caraway, powdery iris, thyme and with a base of leather, incense ,musk, vanilla and woods.. There definitely is a little cumin in there but on my skin it is very laid back.. I can detect all of the notes and they blend together very well, this is a high quality scent.. It is somewhat mature but it is classy, mysterious, sexy and somewhat cozy.. It has a beautiful incense and leather note that blend with the spicy caraway and heliotrope to create a gorgeous warm spicy powdery cloud of beauty! It is definitely on the feminine side of things but I enjoy it and will continue to wear it.. I love it!

SIPLANTIS

I can clearly sense that there are some similarities with Tresor; the Sweetness and the Cleanliness after a deep spicy flower explosion. For me the formula is;

"Aromatic Spices + Tresor " = Gucci

AdrianB

How I wish this wasn't so hard to find!!! I got a mini of it & I absolutely love it.

It's a very warm, comforting smell that on me, yes it does resemble Coca Cola a bit. But not a sticky sweet cola, rather the scent of a just opened ice cold Coke where the bubbles just tickle your nose a little.

Somehow it remains classy, elegant & gorgeous. I am not very good at picking out notes yet, unless they're obvious. With Gucci EDP I get a hint of vanilla here, a touch of leather there. I think it's beautifully blended, with good longevity & sillage that remains close to you, but you get whiffs of it all day. For me, it's a perfect work scent & it makes me feel sophisticated, elegant & feminine.

Yudum

I got this today and ıt smells lovely. Its very spicy and theres a lot of iris in it however the iris fades away and leaves a spicy warm flavour. I didnt smell any vanilla though but overall its a unique scent for a winters day.

SS79

I was so happy when the colder weather came so I can wear this beautiful fragrance again! Its so warm and comforting! I almost get a coca-cola kinda dry down with the woods and spices. Love love love!!!

I choose this perfume without knowing how what it would smell like, but I thought "hey it GUCCI you cant go wrong", and well I was right. It smells expensive and unique. When you first spray it on its very woody and spicy almost masculine, but after 30 minutes it really warms into the skin and smells so soft and feminine. The powder and vanilla begin to shine threw. This also has great lasting power.

dolcethadon

Well I just got my hands on a big bottle of this Gucci eau de parfum for a very cheap price , and wow the gorgeous expensive bottle amazes me just like the male counterpart! LOVE IT! Will update for the scent later..

When I spray this on, my nose is glued to my wrist! On my skin, the note that stands out the most is the incense...The orange blossom note actually translates like a sliver of orange peel, and at first, it's a little sweet, but as it wears, it becomes a full, dense cloud of sumptuous incense...My guess is that the caraway seed is what emits that harmless, medicinal vibe...I don't get any leather, thyme or cedar; the incense gently hovers over the heliotrope and vanilla, and the iris and sandalwood add a wee touch of powderiness that is not dry, but warm and creamy, much like the scent of a thick, perfumed creme...

The drydown is simply gorgeous -- it evokes a ceremonial scene which would include the anointing of a subject with plumes and thick ribbons of a smoldering sacred scent...

kris919

the orange blossom and the heliotrope makes the opening smell kinda like a warm powdery sweet plum..at times though it seems to be almost too powdery. . It's spicy, leathery, a tad medicinal, very warm, and creamy. I like this scent, I may consider a full bottle or a decant at some point. this would be great for fall and winter. unisex, but more on the feminine side of the spectrum.

nero77

Very dark, warm, and plush...

Like leather seats in a room full of spices and incense. This is a very dry fragrance, but quite mysterious as well. Has an almost resinous like quality to it. Spicy caraway with deep vanilla. Dry orange blossom in the opening. The "cherry" aspect of the heliotrope with the dry leather and incense make it very unique. Can be a little dry, and almost tangy with the spicy-sweet dry-down, but I like it. This is amazing for a female EDP from Gucci. There is nothing quite like this out there these days, and it also develops into an incredibly sexy dark, spicy leather scent on a man. Brilliant!

Sandra2

This is a beautiful oriental perfume that, with its quality, longevity and silage, can stand side by side with many niche top fragrances.

projectalice345

At first it smells like nail polish remover its not a great opening. its like opening up a mans well made, black leather jacket and inhaling something dark and strange. I am reading some people are smelling the Vanilla and Orange blossom, lets hope those notes emerge on me eventually they have run for cover at the moment. I need a little more time to decide if I like it or not. I will update as it changes on me. I respect it in either case, . Whether its wearable remains to be seen. Still smells like someone spilled Cognac all over me. It was expensive Cognac.....but was it what I wanted to smell like?On me there is only incense, with the incense announcing itself really really loudly. Its like medicinal smell. Better let her mellow and report back.

After letting it sit It never calms down on me. Its so harsh on my skin, the leather notes are wonderful but all i can smell is the incense and its too sharp and one note. There is never a nice dry down, stays kind of angry on my skin. The vanilla is non existent, pretty much all the notes but angry incense disappear. Maybe if I layer it with another Vanilla smell, it has a really nice potential, but some smells just get so harsh on me. Everyone's chemistry is so different I guess. Recommend sampling it just because its so unique anyway and it never got very sweet.Anyways people are crying from happyness about it apparently which is rad! so worth a try in that case.

This came to me as a hand-me-down from a co-worker who was quite well-off and on top of all things modern and trendy. I got a smaller 30 ml bottle with somewhat half of the original contents. Although I am a die-hard orientals fan, I must say this was not too convincing. First of all - on my oily perfume-eating skin it sounded pretty masculine (not something I would want to use for evening wear targeted at flirting and seduction! ) Secondly, it did not have the staying power to justify the price. For me it had 2-3 hours in it, and that's after a very generous application. Now, what this perfume seems to be perfect for: a late-in-the-day business dinner in an upscale setting with black cringe-free suit/smoking. It is definitely for 6 pm and after and it screams "corporate" to me. I would also use it for a long drink on a weekday with a male friend/ex/boss in a secluded corner of a bar/coffee shop. For a girlie hangout it doesn't have for me enough of "cozy" in it. I will rebuy - 1 bottle (that will last me a lifetime ) and will use it for important business dining-outs after the "close-of-business" hour. The perfume was discontinued a while ago, I believe because it is rather in between work and play and not versatile enough, but I would still recommend to give it a try: it is classy and demure and can easily turn out to be somebody's HG of a scent. The staying power is sadly a spoon of tar in this honeypot: it has 50% of importance for me in every perfume, and here it sucks, quite frankly.
City it makes me think of: London.

The attention-seeking Gucci is sweet, floral, gourmand, woodsy and animalistic all at once.

I enjoy the strange synthetic smell that cuts through the centre of this scent. Difficult to describe, but if pushed I'd say it's most like freshly peeled contact, or even sellotape.

The animalistic leather is true leather; the musky urine of a tannery is retained, and somehow appealing. Some may not enjoy this aspect.

pingui

Leave it to a traditional fashion leather house to design a unisex "leather" scent that positively oozes sexuality. This scent has an androgynous feel that I imagine strong women like Katharine Hepburn or Marlene Dietrich wearing if this had been created in their heyday. This fragrances reveals the femininity by contasts of more masculine elements like leather, spice, wood, and cedar.

As you may know, perfume was developed in the leather industry to hide the caustic and stinky smells of the chemicals and urine which is used in the tanning process. So, when I describe a leather scent, it is something that each leather purveyor has consciously decided what "leather" should smell like. In my mind, this is the leather of a magical backroom of Gucci that holds archives of some of their best handbag and shoe designs. It has mellowed, the leather becoming a little dry, and blended with the years of all those leather scent ideas.

This fragrance starts strong, but then holds close to the body like a well tailored suit. Classic, strong well cut lines, while at once enhancing one's allure through a subtle play of contrasts.

I bought this while on vacation. I had already fallen in love with other Gucci scents, since they are all extraordinary in their own ways. But this is a wonderful scent with lots of sweetness and spices. I have grown into the perfume over the years and I wear it on special occassions. This is a great scent

ageless

It was a blind buy for me as I ordered this perfum online after reading positive reviews on several sites. I recieved my bottle yesterday, and I could almost cry from happiness when I tried it on! For me it's an incredibly warm, sensual, pleasant even titillating scent with a complex panoply of notes! It is exactly what I was searching for, It's soft and strong at the same time, suitable for day and night, complements my character well, surrounds me with an aura of sophistication and elegance.

No perfume is suitable for everyone, so I understand if someone dislikes this perfume. I was lucky to love it without trying it first. Good luck in finding your best perfume!

Galya

For me it's a really strange and so synthetic perfume,I feel only odour of some bad and cheap laundry clean dust :(

opa

It had been very promising at the beginning but fell down quicker than its own development had begin. Too short living...or too watery.. It could be really good if would be perfumery enough..

guillermostf

nice scent deffinitely. i bought four bottles 1fl.oz for about (USD 18) in an argentinian store asking for discount price because they're old and discountinued, so i did get the discount, i gave 2 as gift and sold out the others 2. nice!

st@rz

This is just so beautiful. I could almost cry for the happiness of having found it - a scent that I truly can adore and commit to! It is so sexy, powdery and leathery, very unisex and delicious. This isn't coy or innocent, it's beautiful, strong and voluptuous and yet at the same time rather subtle.

I just put the last bottle in Priceline on hold as I heard this has been discontinued... I have to stock up :(

derkargy

So heavy,so dark,so deep...

I had to add a second review to tell an awesome story. I was lucky enough to find a drugstore in my city that has an amazing perfume section. They have discontinued products just languishing on the shelves, and few people know it's there. The staff doesn't even know how rare these perfumes are now! Sadly they aren't on sale, but discontinued perfumes for regular retail instead of the eBay bidding wars? I'll take it! I'll share the store's name with my fellow DC perfumistas... eventually ;-)

But anyway, I was paying homage to the glass cabinet, considering buying a backup bottle of Gucci EDP, their last bottle left (!), and the store assistant who had opened the cabinet for me was trying to sell me D&G The One or Light Blue, and was trying fragrances alongside me. I told her they were okay, but everyone has them and I could get those anywhere. I was pointing out to her all of the discontinued and rare stuff that was just sitting there (YSL Elle, Van Cleef and Arpels First, Ysatis...). Then I gave her the almost-empty tester of Gucci EDP to try, telling her this was discontinued too. She couldn't stop sniffing the bottle, and then went into perfume-induced ecstasy when she sprayed it on her wrist.

"I know, it's amazing, right?"

"Wow. I love this, it's sweet but so so good. Oh... *inhale* *sigh*
This is the best one I think. Definitely. Wow."

She kept inhaling her wrist and sighing as she opened the register for me to pay at the counter, and I was laughing and nodding telling her "I know the feeling". I started feeling bad for buying the last bottle, so I wrote down the name for her so she could search on eBay and Amazon for it.

And so *poof*, a new perfumista was born, thanks to me and Gucci Eau de Parfum.

s_athena

I do understand where people are getting the cough syrup vibe from this, but oh man, if only Robitussin tasted half as good as this smells!

On my skin it reminds me a bit of a cross between CK Euphoria (drugstore fruity body spray + wood) and Bottega Veneta (plum, jasmine and leather accords), maybe with a hint of old-formula Dior Addict thrown in to give it a darker cast. I don't get any bitterness or much of a spicy bite from the caraway, but it does give this a nutty unctuous quality that ties together the wood notes and cherry-pie fruitiness of the heliotrope really well. This is how I like my sweet perfumes - not literal sugar or baked goods, but oblique hints at something deep, syrupy and delectable cooking in a slow-burning oven. (I don't want my perfumes to remind someone of something delicious - *I* want to be the something delicious!)

To me this has depth, mystery and a hint of cerebral distance with the wood notes that make me think this could work at the office on a cold day (one or two sprays max though, it's pretty damn strong!). This is definitely a cooler-weather date night perfume primarily though - dead-sexy in a very intimate, "brain is the biggest sex organ" kind of way, whether it's a one-on-one dinner in a nice restaurant or sharing body heat and a bottle of wine by a roaring fire. This is the facet of sexuality that matches my personality the best. This is me at this stage of my life. And if this hadn't been discontinued, :-( I could see this challenging my girlier Chanel Chance for my new signature scent. Definitely a new favorite.

But I do think the bottle is a bit much - the cap is solid glass and weighs more than the bottle itself! I suppose it's good to keep the bottle and cap by the bed to ward off (and possibly kill) intruders.

pisces3774

This is gorgeous! I remember smelling it when it first came out, recently got another sample. At the start, it seems like it will be a woody/spicy/vanillic bludger, but fades a bit to become a little softer and more floral. Has some similarities to Dior's Addict (original), some sweet note in the dry down. But I like it much more than Addict, which gives me a headache. Very pretty, hopefully it hasn't been discontinued. Love the sort of old-fashioned bottle.

yume9

Irreplaceable gem. I wear it from 2005 and still can not write a proper review. All this time I just constantly search for some perfume to capture the same spirit and mood, but not the magic (it's impossible).

P.S. I assume that S.T. Dupont Intense Pour Femme can not substitute this scent. It's nowhere near it. I'm very glad that I had a chance to test it and have not blind bought it.

beatrix75

still the best gucci of my life, this fragrance its for a selfconfident charming sexy women with some erotisk feeling still a biiig OMG what a frag"!!!!!

perfumebox

Sexy woody-oriental liquor; and YES it would smell divine on a man OR a woman!

When I first smelt this years ago, I totally recoiled from the syrupy bitter-sweet opening because the caraway and incense accords smelt medicinal to me. But apparently something must have clicked because for the next couple of months, I couldn't help gravitating towards those heavyweight tester bottles of rich brown nectar every time I passed a Gucci counter. Now I own it and love it, though I don't wear it nearly enough.

Gucci Eau de Parfum is quite linear; the floral, spicy, woody, and leather notes all combine into a single mellow, boozy accord that is substantial but not overly heavy. Still, this isn't a very common scent and I can't see everyone liking it right from the start; definitely give this a few tries before you dismiss it!

Endymion

Does anyone thinks it can be worn by a man?
I'm just curious about the opinions.
I like this fragrance but it may be a bit too feminine, I'm not sure(?)

vincy_gal

Probably one of my most favorite of Gucci frags.

It's not for teenyboppers and doesn't have those sweet sugary notes that so many new perfumes seem to go for.

I loved it..and now I don't see it anymore. So sad...

dezaval

Spicy, smoky, woody, like a long walk in an oak forest at autumn... Very chic and mysterious. Reminds me of some 70s avand-garde films...

EnglishCountryGarden

Confident, no-nonsense oriental. It has beautifully kinky undertone of leather, just a hint, which is irresistible to me. Busy, syrupy floriental with lashings of heliotrope (which I really like). For some bizarre reason, when I smell this, I imagine a High Court Judge in all his regalia, with raunchy black ladies' underwear beneath his robes. It's powerful, yet restrained, sexy, yet cold and unfeeling, feminine, yet very masculine and straight to the point. I have it, yet when I wear it, I feel confused to the point of schitzophrenia. A bit of an odd one, which also has a tang of Benylin Cough Syrup/fiizzy cola as it leaves the bottle. Prominent notes, Orange blossom (sans indole thank god), Iris (the schitzophrenic one), heliotrope, leather (oh my yes) and a delightful aniseedy caraway. One cautionary word, (and this may only be the case for me, and not for you, dear reader), after 7 hours, whilst I sat with my cross-stitch, this perfume was still clinging stubbornly to my skin, but the allure had long since left it, and the scent which was creeping up from beneath my pug onesie was definitely the less than alluring scent of shiny, unpowdered rubber gloves, or, one imagines, a discarded rubber anaeshetic mask. I'm sure there are people who would pay good money for that, but it makes me feel a bit dirty in a bad way. High Court Judges, cross stitch, cough syrup and hospital gas masks. I would love to see the advert for THAT!

Tailor-Made

I love this perfume, i've buyed it twice. It has a very unique, warm scent. It could be worn by a very dinamic woman, who knows what she wants and has a strong character.
If I could match it to a movie character, I would probably match it to Rene Rousso at the Thomas Crown Affair.
I believe it's ideal for your first date or for a business dinner.

Yourfoxiness

i really wanted to like this! it is certainly a well constructed, and very respectable perfume, in terms of both formula and quality. but, as i was afraid, the iris and heliatrope ran right out of the gate with loads of sweet incense, which on me is the instant, and terrible powder bomb! the resinous woods underneath are rich, and fine, the vanilla seductive and slightly boozy, the leather note smooth, and not overdone, and the nutty undertone gives it a buttery, almost "oily" cast. there was a light herbal note that dissapeared, and i can detect some flowers drowned in the sweet, srupy juice, but i cannot distinguish, or rescue them. sadly, i cannot get it off my hand. sungular. one drop. so, if you love it, please apply carefully (this test was an old formula) it is a powerhouse!

dbrii24

This fragrance is truly seductive. It's a smoldering spicy, sensual and smoky composition that exudes eroticism. It is flat out sexy. It's a sophisticated scent yet naughty at the same time. I can see how this isn't for everybody but to those of us it works for it's AMAZING! Caraway is very prominent and it mixes in with the vanilla and orange blossom in a way that shouldn't work but oddly it does. It does have a bit of a soda-syrup-peppered smell to it but it dries down to something that is just grand. It's a little difficult to fully describe the brilliant complexity of Gucci...you just have to try it.

Jayne58

This one is all about the basenotes - light incense with creamy vanilla, woods and leather. Warm, rich but not over-powering, this a cold-weather comfort scent. I do get some buttery iris in the middle and some orange blossom on top but cannot detect the heliotrope, which is a shame 'cos cherry pie is nice. I like that Jeca describes this as a scent that someone kind might wear. I agree, and would be gratefully inclined to lean on the caring shoulder of a person who smells this sweet.

chanchita

It took me a while to get used to this perfume (it was a gift) but once I did I wore it to work (office) during the colder months. Worked well for casual after work occassions also. In hindsight, I think I liked it partly becuase it was Gucci, somewhat different to what most women wear in my office and a rather grown-up scent. I did not like it enough to buy again though. It did not seduce me like I wish a good perfume to do.

beatrix75

the best fragrance of my life!!!!Elegant sexy tuff everithing what i want!!!

kalios55

Gucci Eau de Parfum ..

Bold and intense opening with dark powdery floral and sweet warm spice. Gucci Eau de Parfum is nothing but confident and intriguing.

Once settled .. it became a creamy balmy LEATHERY scent. Floral and incense stayed undertone. Leather outshone every single accord listed.

Drydown to an sexy skin scent, resembling that of Eau des Merveilles Hermes. Balmy, leathery, powdery, soapy, but subtle, giving off that old-fashioned lipstick vibe. I am not a fan of balminess, although Gucci Eau de Parfum's balm is perfectly toleratable.

If you are friendly, down-to-earth, and bubbly: this is not for you. Gucci Eau de Parfum is a smell of a snobbish rich hot mess though it's pleasant and magnetic in its own way.

I found Gucci Eau de Parfum to be a masculine "female" scent. I could imagine many males getting away wearing this perfume. Minimum sillage, excellent longivity. It survived a shower .. so 24 hours on the back of my hand. Unbelievable staying power.

cleo777

Oh, I love this one!!! It has a yummy, vanilla rootbeer spicy smell that is wonderfully sexy for evening. Sometimes I'll even spritz some on in the daytime because I miss it! My sweetie even likes it, and he sneezes at everything. So classy, feminine and expensive smelling. Exactly what I look for in a fragrance!

pstarck

my favorite ever.... making a collection here now that is discontinued...oh Gucci, don't do that with me, please....=(

vicka16

Very distinctive incense and caraway seeds notes. Defenitely not my tipe of fragrance. Used it once, and had to give it away.

SS79

Absolutly love this fragrance! It'swarm spicyness wraps me up in warmth..like others have said.. perfect for cold weather! Im in canada and its starting to finallly snow!! Guess what i am wearing today! lol

Cams

This is outstanding! Warm, sensual and sexy -it makes you feel confident and feminine. A beautiful waft of a luxurious scent will follow you. Perfect for winter.

Hellokt

I really wanted to like this one, however it is too intense and dark for me. Too coca cola on me as well. This is a beautiful fragrance, and very unique; but it's just not right for me. I've found that Gucci fragrances are either of this genre: deep, dark, intense, mysterious, night time or on the opposite spectrum of very light, fresh, fruity, day time. There is no middle of the road for Gucci that I have found thus far!

ojosverdes

This is a lovely, complex, sexy, sophisticated scent that is better suited for autumn and winter. This is a dense scent, however this is not very sweet. The comparison to coca cola are spot on, but only in the beginning then it dissipates. This does posses a medicinal quality to it that makes it unique and interesting. Although is not listed in the notes I can smell a note that I believed was rose. This last and last all day on my skin, very good quality of ingredients!
Edit: I have not worn this scent very much. I wore it two times this year and my husband asked both times if I had been drinking LOL. I guess is not a good idea to be stopped by a cop while you are wearing this scent, he might think you are drunk.

rainbow.owl2

Absolutely fabulous, darlings! Warm, spicy, mellow, incense, leather, vanilla - completely delicious. I think I'd better run out & buy another bottle before it disappears completely...

emi_artist

The amber colour of the juice, the tactile, heavy bottle reminiscent of a 1940s paperweight, and its spicy, dark content all contribute to the sense that Gucci Eau de Parfum is the smell of a warm, almost sternly sexual, pencil-skirt and white shirt wearing woman, who has just got dressed when dawn comes after a whole night of sex. The smells of her lover still on her skin, she doesn't want to wash it off so it melds with her own skin.

The Turin-Sanchez Perfume Guide was spot-on when it described this perfume as the familiar smell of your lover's morning breath - slightly acrid, warm, still reminiscent of the intimacy between two people who have spent a long time together and love each other so much that every part of their body is dear to one another.

Yet the Art-Deco style bottle tells a more complete story of the woman in the couple, an independent woman who makes no apology for her sensuality as she exudes confidence at work as well as home, a woman who reflects the chocolate brown, gold and white colourways of the classic Gucci suit of the 1970s, who walks in the streets of Florence from her husband's house to a boardroom and clinches a 10 million deal.

The typically Italian orange blossom start is the only concession to flowery notes, which then makes inexorable way to the leathery, musky skin scent via a distinctive spicy heart, which fuses seamlessly with the base, almost creating a flowing piano passage, or the trail of a long scented silk scarf. Brilliant.

jasmasid

This reminds me of how sophisticated young women used to smell when I was a little girl. An extremely refined and mysterious smell, very "perfumy" and expensive-smelling. The good news is that it is not as expensive as some others that smell like cold water and nothing else. I seldom go for spicy scents but I finished an entire bottle of this one last year and can't wait to get my next one.

tommy_girl

oh my Gosh!I never thought I would fall for an oriental spicy perfume, but this one really rocks!(thanks to tigerlillian to give me the chance to smell it)
According to the notes it's not my type at all,but since I like Gucci very much,I thought it desreves trying and I wasn't wrong.
it opens up with sour, deep and sensual woody notes which smells somehow masuline, but very confident and shameless at the same time.
it doesn't change through the time much.I hardly smell any fruity or floral note, but just woods.it smells a bit like DOLCE VITA or it's younger sister,SENUOUS.but sensuous is much more sweet, while this one is more spicy.
my favorite GUCCI is GUCCI BY GUGGI EDP,but this one's my second choice.nowdays it's hard to find such a unique perfume that suits strong unique women well.

sarazonoz

Love love love it.. This is just so classy and refined. So Tom Ford.. Not another teenage, tasteless, sugarbomb, commercial mainstream scent. Thank god for that!

I buy this perfume for my mum but she don't like it and my daughter too. So I has two way to choose, sale it or use it. And I choose to use it. This perfume is dark incense mystery more spicy little sweet. Quite elegance good longevity more than 6 hrs on me in cool weather. Some time I mix it with the other men perfume. (It's ok for me) Gucci EDP is best one woman perfume.

obsessed

I always have unexpected surprises and funny stories when it comes to buying perfumes, but the story with this one was pretty unique. I basically saw the “Gucci eau de parfum” packaging sitting all alone on a shelf in a local store and I looked at the price: it was 20 euros (it’s probably going out of production). But I couldn’t open it cause it was wrapped up and there wasn’t even a tester.
So I said to myself: who cares, I’m gonna buy it, it’s so cheap and it’s Gucci, even if it doesn’t smell that good I won’t regret it: sometimes you gotta take a little risk right…
So I bought it. I was all excited and a little scared, but I was happy that I had bought an expensive perfume for that cheap, and after all a Gucci couldn’t have been that bad.
I sprayed a little on my wrist and at first it smelled kinda weird and old-lady like. After a while I started to really get all of the beautiful oriental notes (I’m a sucker for orientals) and holy jesus it was like heaven…
Definitely not marketed torwards youger girls, but still an amazing oriental for a confident, ultra-sexy, raspy voiced, androgyny, chic, show-stopper woman. It’s exactly what I needed.
I would describe this as a “bitchy” perfume, not in your face but rather tough-smelling, for a woman that likes to speak her mind and who is sometimes aggressive, istictive and who likes to wear androgynously, but still maintaining her womanhood and her extreme sexyness.
Whooo!! how many feelings involved in the smelling of this fume!!
Definitely buy this if you’re looking for a night time aggressive oriental, sexy, passionate fragrance.(NOT FOR INNOCENT SWEET GIRLS..)
Oh, and the whole concept was thought by Sir Tom Ford. That already says it all…
So ladies, if you wanna smell sexy, buy whatever Tom Ford fragrance happens to be handy.
Trust me…..that man is a fucking genius, no lie.

TankGirl

Nhee I was expencting better from this. It transmitts the idea of a strong, succefull woman yes but still its quite soapy and dull in a way. Perfect for office and a suit because its not loud. Its mildly spicey what is annoying to me because its like a strong fragrance playing shy, it has its charm though.

Wilka

I agree with 1 blondeangel. I remember when Tom Ford created this fragrance for Gucci: he wanted to express that a woman must be strong and bold nowadays, but she's still a woman in her inside. I think that I'm paraphrasing 1blondeangel's idea.

naominose

The main attraction, for me, is it's dusty pavement before the rain aura. It's neither too dry nor cloyingly humid-heavy. It's superiorly sexy, like a low raspy voice, like fall and winter in the woods, like kissing by a fireplace.

It would be easy for a scent like this to tip into either powder or musk territory, but miraculously, it doesn't... like balancing a pin on it's head! I don't even get the too heavy spice or medicine that some are experiencing... just a little musty leather, cedar, dead leaves and that long-lingering ozone (ex)static perfection.

You really do have to wait for the dry-down to fall in love. I need more soon, because rubbing a balloon over my hair is just not cutting it for my fix.

1blondeangel

Mysterious, Dangerous, Sexy as Hell are a few descriptive words that come to mind! It's spicey in the most scandalous and dark way. The Orange Blossom and Heliotrope send an alluring trail. The leather, thyme and caraway give it a hint of don't mess with me-Very Femme Fatale. The musk and vanilla make it velvety and soft enticing fingers to run down the arm. This is a fragrance for a self confident woman. It is very intriguing and inviting. I picture a bad ass, super heroine wearing this in her tight, glued on leather cat suit while saving the world and then returning to her business meeting all suave & sure of herself controlling the meeting entirely while tossing her hair back and making all the men in the meeting drool over her. I dare any woman to try this & become that sultry, sexy, Femme Fatale. I'm in love!

chickenpotpie

wasn't into this one. I've tried it twice in my lifetime. Each time I got the smell of coca-cola syrup on my skin. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but it never moved from that, even after the dry down.

I gave it to my sister who loves it but then again it smells so much different on her..

Smells fine, but is no show stopper. a little watery, and not my style...not perfumey enough for me.

Siv7Stars

Overpowering leather, like the scent equivalent of a gimp suit. Fine if that's your thing.

allexa_ro

to me this one is fascinating..... sexy, alluring; despite the incense note it feels like a perfume a business modern woman would wear; sexy , smart, modern, warm, expensive are the words that come to mind

Tigerlillian

Although there are no fruits in this composition, the opening sensation is velvety with a rich, soft plummy accord that hovers--an artful selection of flowers.

Spices infuse and give the liquor a warm, almost sweet dark peppery complexity. Thyme is overt, yet exquisitely balanced, complementing the blossoms and hints of caraway with an unusual perfection. Orris gives a marvellous, cool, chalky feel that doesn't billow away in powdery plumes.

The drydown is mostly vanilla, incense and musk. In truth, I don't like musk to be too obvious in a perfume, but this skillfully composed concoction creates a paradigm shift for me. The subtley dry cedar and a just a swatch of oppulent leather add to the aloofness and gentle tenacity of this seductive fragrance. This deeply resonates like a truly fine wood-aged tawny port wine, all the while being uber feminine.

Gucci eau de Parfum works its way into your psyche and ensnares your spirit before you even have time to exhale.

A modest sister of Jungle L’Elephant by Kenzo - oriental spicy with a distinct nutty note of caraway seeds, but not at all loud, and sitting close to the skin. Beautiful in winter, but not impossible all year round. Not being a masterpiece, it somehow managed to walk its way into my heart. Warm, moderately sweet and comforting, it’s a fragrance you can rely upon. Having applied it in the morning, you feel its presence all day long. Its warm sweet earthiness is something that adds you gravity and helps you to stand steady on your own two feet.

A fitting consort for Gucci Pour Homme (the newer one, NOT the original).

I was amazed when I sniffed this! Currently reviewing chypre florals, I mistakenly pulled this from Mom's collection of samples and after one sniff, I knew it was no chypre, Gucci by Gucci is...but not this.

This begins with a dry orange blossom and a heavenly heliotrope combo-smooth and powdery. The heart is warm with caraway and the heady herbal scent of thyme, with cool steely iris keeping it from being too sharp. The drydown is so sexy: leather, incense, woods and heavy musk. Vanilla adds some oriental feel to it but predominately I get the musk and incense. This is very warm and almost "fuzzy" comfy; perfect for winter nights, and the evening Christmas party. It has femininity but overall, I find it to be more unisex than any of Gucci's other perfumes. I may have to find some of this for myself! Daniela Roche-Andrier (PRADA Amber and Iris scents) has truly outdone herself IMO! This is so very oriental woody and mysterious with just enough flowers to add a soft sweetness but not be "girly". What a scent...

Sillage: good
Longevity: very good
Overall: 4/5

This bears a similarity (to me) of a cross between Fleur de Male and Gaultier2...with the volume turned down and some spice sprinkled over it, add a fur collared leather jacket and you're off to the ball! Smellin sweet and sexy!

alexanna7

this is a verry nice oriental spicy! On me,i get the caraway and oris...almost like a rose scent! I get the soft leather, vanilla, and cedar wood, but soft, like a breeze...nothing strong, well balanced.!no.notes higher than the others! If you like: fendi, bijan, coco chanel, teatro alla scala;you will love this spicy oriental! Viva la gucci! Love it!

Gucci eau de Parfume is like a elegant Tweed jacket dry and musty it brings
an Androgynous chicness in modern perfumery The opening of Heliotrope with
it's vanilla with almond nuance opens the
top note, in a few minutes dry Caraway
makes it's presence known Iris adds to the
powdery feel it has an strawberry middle drydown Leather is subtle and it's not
overwhelming Incense adds to the dark mystery of the scent with an reserved
reputare aloof and not showing her true
nature i love the dark musky drydown
and vanilla sweetens the base.

Gucci eau de Parfume has no categorized
identity genderless it's neither Male
nor Female it brings androgamy to the
wearer it's unisex to me, these are one
of the scents that thinks outside the box like CK One that does not follow
conventional rules on female perfumery
it avoids trendy girlish watery floral
fruity scents that is all the rage and
beats to it's own drum, this scent is for a woman who wants to break convention.

Here in Brasil it has been sold cheapilly. I didn't like it. It smells like medicine. Also the lid is INCREADIBLY (and unnecessarilly) heavy.
If this fragrance had the "smokiness" of the male version(=Gucci pour Homme)- which I loved - I would have liked it better, but I cannot smell anything other than medicine/syrup aroma.

mars_tee

You absolutely have to wait for the drydown in order to really appreciate it. It starts out slightly strong and difficult to place, but ends up sultry, warm and natural and bonds with [my] skin really well.

Jillzilla

I get spicy, soapy incense for the top notes, but the scent becomes less soapy as it dries down. The base is deep, powdery incense with a bit of leather. It's a mature fragrance. I like it very much!

scent_lover

i had it but honestly i don't recommend it for young women. very heavy, very oriental for my taste.definitely a winter scent. i gave my bottle to my grandma. at least she liked it!

icekat

I adore this perfume. It is earthy, beautiful and very well-balanced. It feels ancient and mysterious to me - like walking through the ruins of the ancient temple and feel the connection to the ancient times.

The opening is a bit sharp with orange blossom and heliotrope but it goes into middle notes pretty quick and they are so divine. I normally do not like caraway seeds and incense in perfumes. But this one proved me wrong. The combination is so harmonious and beautiful. It wraps around me like a second skin and makes me feel so divine.

The scent stays close to the skin and works miracles with my body chemistry. I love how it smells on my hair. I can wear it in the evening and daytime. I love it on a warm summer evening, as well as on a crisp fall day. I could wear it to a party or to a business meeting. It always makes me sophisticated and strong.

Stela

This is wonderful! It's very spicy and it has a good lasting power on me. I tried it yesterday and I think I'm going to buy it with my next paycheck. :)

Oh, I am loving this one so much! The opening is smooth and spicy. I think the caraway adds an intense richness to the middle of this and keeps the sweetness under control. It stays warm and dark, a really comforting scent. While it does get close to the skin fairly quickly, it stays with you for a long time, 10+ hours on me. If you're looking for a fragrance that'll make someone take a second whiff of you, this is it. You'll just have to make sure they hug you first.

9-10-10: Just received this and had to add that the bottle is sooo cool. That cap is pure glass. When I felt the heaviness of the box, my heart leapt because I thought, "Oh, they sent me the 3.4 oz size", but no, it was the 1.7 oz, encased in thick clear glass. So classy! And this juice is going to be my fall and winter signature, it is really the perfect oriental spicy for me!

autumn89

Personally, i cant see any similarity between this and Gaultier 2. I love one and hate the other. Gaultier 2 to me smells like burned synthetic vanilla. Again, shows how subjective fragrance is!

This opens icredibly spicy and remains incredibly spicy until the drydown when it calms a bit. Orange blossom manages to smooth out the heart slightly, but the iris adds a slightly powdery quality. The drydown is incredible. Musky incense and leather softened by vanilla and sandalwood.

Lasting power is very good, but it doesnt project very far. Definately a winter fragrance. The Incense, spices and cedar make this quite masculine, so i'd say easily worn by guys. I wear it a lot in the winter and always get complimented, no one ever says it smells too feminine.

Definately give it a try. Im a bit worried this may get discontinued...

Id say Tom Fords Japon Noir shares similarities. They are both very spicy.

BIG

a man could totally pull off this frag! It's more suitable for late fall/winter nights!
