I think it smells more like a simple cinnamon cookie than gingerbread, and i prefer it that way. :)

nastyenka

A pretty decent Christmas scented candle. The gourmand-ness is more powerful than the spice; this one is only good for layering with other gourmands.

There's an initial buttered popcorn note that's kinda fun. I'd consider wearing this to a Christmas party, but that's about it.

Sgarci24

Very milky, nutty, buttery? .. this is too much.. no very gingerbread smell.

xxxtomatoxxx

really gross. candle sweet and dry down is an intolerable hit-you-over-the-head artificial powdery, like super super old lipstick. I guess i should have known better when trying to buy a gingerbread scented perfume!

Momto3Balls

There is something really artificial and nauseating with Demeter fragrances. The only one that I can recommend is pistachio ice cream. That one is great! Demeter Gingerbread is tolerable but still has a bit of artificiality to it that makes it not appealing. I was want Jo Malone Ginger Biscuit and saw that this was recommended. It was a decent price, so I decided to try it. Layered with BBW Jolly Gingerbread Village, it is wearable.

If you're wanting a gingerbread scent that won't turn your stomach, I would recommend Molinard Sucre Sugar. Sooooooo good! A budget pick would be BBW Jolly Gingerbread Village. Demeter gets a 2.5/5 from me.

Silvi_pankova

Realistic, slightly burned gingerbread cookie. Literal gourmand but on my skin it’s like 3,2,1 aaaand it’s gone. Still fun for the holiday season. I will finish it, wouldn’t repurchase though. This would be a banging candle 🫚

crushedmarigolds

this is 1:1 black tea with milk and brown sugar. so good. not getting any gingerbread. its very milky

oubliette

Such a fun and realistic gingerbread cookie scent! I was really craving a fall/winter spicy food scent, and this has completely scratched that itch. It's really balanced with the sweetness, ginger, and cinnamon. This does not have the nauseating fake butteriness I get from so many cookie/cake scents. Love it!

Zethre

Really good gingery biscuit scent. Gently sweet. Good sillage, but only last a couple of hours, but I don't mind re-spraying so long as the sillage is good.
Tbh the sillage is better on this than Jo Malone Ginger Biscuit, and it's more biscuity, without the faint lemony floral note of the JM perfume, but otherwise they are very similar.

whodoesyourtaxes

I think there might be just a tad too much ginger in this scent for me, but I still like it. And I'm glad the cinnamon note doesn't overpower in this scent, it stays nicely in the mix! As this dries down and develops it smells more and more like a gingerbread cookie, very warm and sugary. I don't imagine I'll have any trouble finishing up this sample when the holidays roll around! They basically bottled the scent of a cozy day spent in the kitchen baking and decorating gingerbread men.

Turg

It doesn't smell like gingerbred cookie, more like gingerbread pudding (more milky, less spicy) or like a cinnamon cookie, like someone alse mentioned. I can't detect any other spices other than cinnamon, and it's not a very prominent note, it's like cinnamon in a cookie.

Vicschmidtscents

I’ve been on the search for a buttery, sweet cinnamon scent that doesn’t smell like apple pie, and this is delicious. I thought their cinnamon bun scent would be it, but that one is lacking the buttery note that I was craving.

Gingerbread is perfection. Great for cozy fall days.

Noveight

Smells like cinnamon cookies. Yum.

tally2ball

I mean, this smells EXACTLY like a gingerbread cookie. They NAILED it. 20 year younger me would have swooned over this.

Skinscents4Fusspots

Very very biscuity….. so smells like it should!

smccmurphy

I was completely prepared for this to smell super artificial and cloyingly sweet, but was so pleasantly surprised. This is such an incredibly realistic, fresh out of the oven, gingerbread smell. If you sprayed this in your hair and hugged someone they would likely ask if you had been baking all day. Smells so warm, not overly sweet…this will absolutely be a holiday, fall and winter go to. The cinnamon is mild enough that it avoids falling into the fireball whiskey or chewing gum category, such a win.

secret_history

This is a very pleasant, cinnamon-y scent that is a great choice for autumn and the upcoming holidays. It perfectly complemented the apple butter that has been simmering on the stove today. It does not appear to last very long, but it may be that the cooking smells have overpowered it. I don't know that it smells exactly like gingerbread -- it certainly evokes the *feeling* of gingerbread. This one is nice to wear around the house when you're putting up decorations or just want a cheerful holiday mood.

Ejmushka

too sweet and not enough of spices to resemble gingerbread. overall, if i leave the idea of gingerbreak and how it should evoke this smell, the scnet is overly sweetwith a hint of cinnamon and tiny ginger, but drawning so much in sugar:(.

Jessicawallace98

I absolutely LOVE this perfume. This is my go to winter perfume. It is literally Christmas in a bottle. It smells so festive and cosy and it sticks to your clothes which is great if you wear woolly jumpers and knitted scarfs like myself. The compliments I’ve received off of people whilst wearing this is unbelievable. I’ve been stopped in the street, people have come up to me on public transport and asked what I’m wearing! I will never not have a bottle of this on my shelf, it’s an absolute must have if you love warm, spicy and cosy perfumes. Perfect for Christmas months! GET IT!!!!

tessture

Lots of butter and spice, very cake-y. This is not my favorite gingerbread scent, but it does represent it fairly well.

Tea&Witchery

Sweeeeeet, cozy, and spicy—but not cloying for all its sugar. Actually smells like for real baked goods.
Idk about gingerbread, though, maybe almost like a vanilla spice latte minus the coffee smell? Milky sweet vanilla spices.
Actually that’s a very good, all encompassing description for this. MILKY sweet vanilla spices. And I really like it.
Very linear, though. But I f you want complexity and development, maybe look elsewhere than Demeter Fragrances.
5/10

marnie_g

Snickerdoodle cookies straight from the oven! Too sweet and buttery to be gingerbread, but close enough. Snickerdoodles were my favorite cookie to bake growing up as a kid, straight from an old orange Betty Crocker cookbook. Nice, fun throwback to those memories.

Siv7Stars

Hmm, it's nice, but your gingerbread must smell like Boots No7 face creams, there's something very unfoody creamy smelling in here and barely discernible ginger.

AnnaXXV

Warm, buttery gingerbread, just minutes out of the oven. I can almost taste the salted butter. Sometimes I just want a quick blast of something sweet and simple. It lasts a fleeting 20-30 minutes maximum on my skin, a happy blast of spice and sugar when I need a boost. Reminiscent of holiday baking, I feel like wrapping myself in a blanket and enjoying a hot cup of tea with Gingerbread.

akawanis

A mouthwatering confection! Out of the recent batch of 2 dozen Demeter samples, this is the favorite gourmand. It's the dead of summer, yet has me thinking of the holidays.

Love that it's not a sugar-bomb, which quite frankly, makes you hungrier. Here's a trick that works on the keto diet. When going zero-carb, all you'll ever think about, is food. You can 'trick the mind' with fruit & spice-scented frags, as long as they lack the sugar-note. If it *smells sweet*, they'll backfire. I'm on a mission to try most of Demeter's Scent Library, to pick ones that work. So far, 'Between the Sheets' and 'Lychee' are the go-to appetite suppressants.

Back to Gingerbread: It's delightfully linear, so what you see is what you get. There's no funky dry down or shocking transformations mid-way. Need to get a bottle of this.

Triela

Just gross!! Personally, I would never choose a fragrance with ginger notes, but unfortunately, this was my free gift with purchase from the Demeter website. I think it smells like rotten coconuts.

VintageViolet_

Christmas in a bottle.

Sweet, spicy, ginger biscuit scented.

Great for snowy days in December. Longevity is poor but these are colognes.

Museumgal

I feel that this one is sweeter than Demeter's Ginger Cookie, so if you're looking for a sweet ginger bakery scent this one is probably closer. However Cookie has more lasting power and is stronger, and has a nice wheat note. This one is very muted and doesn't last as long, so if you're debating the two I would go with the Cookie. Unless the level of sweetness is important -- if you like them very sweet Gingerbread is probably the better choice. It has a very nice holiday spice quality.

poivrerose

This actually smells like a bread! Yes, like a spiced cake bread. It doesn't remind me of cookie, and honestly I don't get much of the sweet notes. Just a very smooth soft spicy warm bread essence. Spices being mainly soft ground clove and nutmeg. I find the cinnamon and ginger to be very thinly supporting. I do think I'm getting a bit of molasses though. Perhaps as it dries down you can sense that this bread is very lightly drizzled with a confectioner's glaze, or possibly even honey. There's something really nice and soft about this. It is not very sweet and the spices are muted. It is definitely more of a foodie scent over a sweet scent. Like I said, it actually smells like a bread to me. It is mostly a skin scent, but it is cozy and comforting. Warmth, cake bread, and spices.
This review is for the cologne splash. This one smells really pleasant for about an hour, and then it becomes very close to the skin for a couple more hours. It's a shame :( You'll have to carry it with you and reapply frequently if you want the scent to last all day. And just a word of advice - with the splashes you are in for a pretty messy application - I'd go for the sprays next time around. - And for a quick comparison, Demeter Ginger Cookie is definitely spicier and sweeter; heavier on the ginger and the cinnamon.

Catnip

This is the time of year when I crave the warm, spicy scent of gingerbread cookies baking in the oven. Demeter's version is not exactly this smell, and at least for me, it is not as spicy as I expected or would have liked. It is still warm and somewhat spicy (cinnamon perhaps most detectable, though not really ginger), as promised in the description. It resembles gingerbread most closely in the very first moments, and it is when I like it best. Then, it quickly--too quickly--quiets down to a softer, sweet, and more vague vanilla-like base.

It is a fun fragrance to try, and I won't complain given the price tag. I don't think I'll use it a lot on my skin, but I'll probably use it more often as a room spray.

kerini

The gingerbread impression lasts but a moment but as a whole it's not bad.
At first I get a bit too much of everything, mostly ginger and vanilla. After a while it dries down to a subtle and pretty wearable spicy-sweet scent.
It lasts about 9 hours on my skin.

Nemoturtle

To be fair I dislike this one mostly because it really does not smell like gingerbread. There's ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg. It smells just fine, very spicy, but it does not have the yummy gingerbread cookie scent I was hoping for. Overall it was just a warm spicy scent that leaned more towards the nutmeg/ginger end than cinnamon/clove.

ravynkat

demeter is definitely true to it's labels. this one is very high in spicy ginger and just enough sweet to not be mistaken for any other hard holiday spices. it's nice!
