Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran may be leading the MTV VMA nominations but at least three Irish men are celebrating today too.

Bray singer/songwriter Hozier has bagged a nomination for Best Rock Video for Take Me To Church.

The video was directed by Brendan Canty and Conal Thomson from Feel Good Lost, a Cork-based, visual arts production house.

Canty and Thomson are also nominated for Best Direction, a professional award about which they're both particularly excited, according to Brendan.

He told Today FM, "It's mad, it's taken me completely by surprise.  I got an email from an Irish magazine asking 'Can we interview you about your two VMA nominations?' and I was like, 'What are you talking about?'"

The two directors are set to head to the Microsoft Theatre in LA for the Sunday August 30 show.

The video currently has 236,232,853 views on YouTube.
