Shame on MetLife - Unacceptable outsourced "Customer Service"

Shame on MetLife for "rewarding" their life insurance policy holders who have held their policies for a long time by providing "customer service" only from a foreign outsourced company. You can't understand what the agents are saying, and when you ask to speak with someone in the US they advise there is no one available to take the call so they will escalate for a return call within 24-48 hours. They say the only way to pay the premium on these old policies is to mail a check which these days runs the risk of having your check stolen. How can a company in this day and age not offer any other type of payment option for these older policies (now being serviced only by some foreign outsourced company) except for mailing a check?

This is absolutely unacceptable to be treated this way after faithfully paying premiums for over 40 years.

Awful

My experience with MetLife was awful. I've invested too much effort in dealing with them to list their inadequacies on here but if your thinking of using their services, don't, my claim was handled like you'd imagine a bad insurance company would have in the 70's.

Will not pay Large claims!!

I used to be in love with METLIFE Dental Insurance until I had to file a significant claim! They are great when it comes to paying for cleanings, but try and get a legitimate implant claim through their system ...good luck. For over 4 months I have been contacting them with no resolution. They keep kicking it down the road. Their foreign customer service is hard to deal with and can only read back the notes on the EOB. When I asked to speak to a Dentist, I got no where. I submitted x-rays over and over, my dentist wrote letters and I filed written appeals (via fax no less) and received nothing, nada, zip. Totally awful customer service if you have a significant claim. It is all about the $$$$ with MET Life. Stay away if you can. Contact your HR representative and tell them to stay away!

MetLife screwed me out of four weeks of…

MetLife screwed me out of four weeks of payment. I was told directly by MetLife that I could not return to work until the test results returned, that would determine the outcome. However, after four weeks I finally got the test results, but MetLife said they would not pay for the four weeks that they directly had me wait since I was cleared to go back to work. Even though they directed me to wait for the test results, since it cleared me to go to work, they have decided not to pay. MetLife does not have ethics, morals, and does not care about its customers!

I have hospital indemnity and accident…

I have hospital indemnity and accident insurance and have had to use it, I filled out all the paperwork, did all the requirements for nothing. Absolutely nothing! You have to jump through hoops. It should be simple. It should be where they contact the provider, get the details and send the check to the patient. Not this BS run around and drawn out saga. I have not received any benefits, I had a concusion, nope, I had my daughter in the hospital, NOPE! NOTHING. METLIFE SUCKS>

DO NOT....

Im convinced they do everything in their power to make it more difficult for policyholders to do anything to their policies; not limited to and including PAYMENT. This should be illegal. They have very sketchy customer service that will say anything to get you off the phone. The only way to resolve issues is speaking with a supervisor. I will update when the issue is actually resolved. We've been on multiple phone calls where we've received conflicting information.

MetLife Dental is the worst

MetLife Dental is the worst. On a good day, they are merely incompetent; on a bad day, they flat out lie to you. My dental work was delayed for months because I got conflicting/incorrect information every time I called. They do not cover common procedures (Arestin, extractions). I wouldn't recommend MetLife to my worst enemy.

I despise everything about their…

I despise everything about their operation. The FCA need to be involved..

They don’t respond to emails, they have a backlog that constantly grows and never uphold complaints.

I think you’re a joke and a sham, you take money and my god do you get in touch if a payment is late, try the reverse and you’re screwed.

DO NOT USE!

This is not a good company

This is not a good company. I have dental insurance with them, but they are not covering it. It has been very difficult dealing with them - poor customer reps on the phone, long processing time for their reviewing my case, etc. Currently on a long hold.

Worst experience I have ever had

Worst experience I have ever had. Been a critical care policy holder for over 20 years, the never ending cycle of filing a claim has been a joke, submit, resubmit told they have everything just to be sent a letter weeks later they closed your file due to information not submitted, you get something different Everytime you call, we have everything we need we received your medical cancer information to process your claim, call two days later, we never received your medical records, it's a endless cycle with excuses with MetLife, can't even get supervisors to state the same thing. This company will take your money then is sketchy when trying to file a claim. Beware with MetLife. Sick of the go around and constantly being told something different even when asked to speak with supervisors.

Beware of the Total Control Account

I'm trying to access a life insurance settlement for my recently deceased father. MetLife encourages use of a Total Control Account-I agreed because I didn't want a large check in the mail. This account is hard to access and a lot of the information I received is incorrect-it's just a way for them to hold the money and pay below market interest.

Metlife is a horrible company…

Metlife is a horrible company concerning their Critical Illness, Hospitalization, & Accident Insurances. Their website never works forcing you to call customer service who can't help you and tells you to go to the website. Tried to cancel my policies since they couldn't even provide policy information and they told me I can't until my company's Open enrollment in December. Right now I am paying for 3 policies that I can't submit claims on but they can raise my rates because I had a birthday. SHADY COMPANY, stay far away from.

Intentionally incompetent

Opened an investment account in 2017, and they tried to hide their nearly 5 percent annual fees.
For closing the account, despite my reactivity to answer all their requests immediately after 2 months they are still sitting on my money. They are intentionally incompetent

They deserve a NEGATIVE review!!

They deserve a NEGATIVE review!!! I have been outright lied to be two of their representatives. I originally called them to take out funds from a 403b retirement account. The representative that called me back wanted me to come to the office AFTER hours to sign papers and I am sure so he could control the remainder of my funds. He canceled twice and I needed the funds released in a timely manner, so I called back and spoke with another rep who informed me that in order to obtain the funds from this account which was from an employer I had left over 15 years ago, I would need to call my former employer and get a letter from them allowing me to access my account. The individual in charge of annuity accounts at the hospital I had worked at informed me that this MetLife requirement is technically ILLEGAL and that the Metlife higher ups were well aware of this. He wrote a letter that I submitted to MetLife. Bottom line is that the check came over a week AFTER I closed on my new home and I obtained the funds from a different source on time. I did NOT cash the check and then MetLife took the funds back (They do well in holding onto our money!!). Come tax time, I became aware that MetLife did not issue a rectified 1099-R form, so the federal government will want $15k+ from me in taxes on funds that I did NOT take possession of! I legitimately owe for the funds I cashed out from a different retirement account. That 401K firm was responsive and easy to deal with. My experiences with Metlfe have been horrible and indicative of them just wanting to hold onto one’s funds at all costs. Now I will have added accountant fees and likely Federal tax penalties incurred from MetLife’s negligent accounting practices. They just want to keep your money. Stay away!

We had a Multiprotect policy with…

We had a Multiprotect policy with MetLife for 7 years now and made multiple claims for hospitalisation due to my daughters epilepsy. With help from my adviser, every claim process was quick and easy. Recently I suffered with cholecystitis and spent 10 days in UK hospital for which I received £100 for each day. Thank you MetLife! Would recommend to everyone 100%

Poor Customer Service for Health Savings Accounts

For a company that has been in business for over 150 years, I expected better training and performance by their customer service team. When an agent doesn't know an answer, he/she hangs up on customers. Three different customer service agents hung up on me in one day. Once is a fluke - three times is a pattern so maybe that is how they are trained to respond. Seems like their agents don't really want to help customers.

Some MetLife job aids are incorrect, so agents can't provide consistent answers to common questions - like how to move money from a MetLife HSA to one of their brokerage investment partners. Different representatives provide different answers. I've spent over three weeks and multiple phone calls trying to get this simple action completed without success.

Perhaps they make this complicated so people are forced to investment in MetLife mutual funds (which are profitable for MetLife)

I'd change to another HSA company, but have to remain with MetLife since it's offered through my employer.

MetLife - you can do better, so please consider more effective training/hiring of your employees.

Would recommend

Have MetLife through a work policy - although didn’t realise this until I needed to claim. I thought it was with AIG. After reading the reviews I was concerned about making a claim, however my doctor completed the paperwork thoroughly. I made sure what I was claiming with was covered within my policy and the process was swift and efficient. I received a considerable payout within a couple of days. No burden placed on myself to provide additional information - other than a copy of ID. I found them to be extremely proficient and the money will go a long way to ease a difficult personal situation. Would recommend their services.

Very bad public image

Very bad public image, going after individuals for no real reason. Reportings of harassment and threats towards innocent Youtubers and harmless videogame-players (What the f***?!). I'd better not trust a company like this, I stay far far away! Just punch the companys name in Youtube and youll see the real face of them.
