Loving the White Liar

I met my true love when I was twenty-seven. He was handsome, charming, witty, and irresistible. Jayden Monroe came along when I was struggling with indecision and made things simple, turned monochrome into vivid color, and forever altered my perspective on life.

I was not naive enough to believe in happily ever after, but with Jayden, it seemed possible . . . until I realized something wasn’t quite right.

You see, I met a man who would be anyone I needed him to be, and after I found out that fact, I knew it would be impossible to walk away. His disorder, however, would change everything I ever thought about love and what it truly meant to accept someone for who they are.

This is not my sob story; this is his success story

★★★★! Loving the White Liar (stand-alone). A candid look at loving a man with ADHD!

“You’re my best friend,” he said tearfully, “my lover, my strength, my reason for being, which I never thought was possible. I never thought there was anyone for me.” He was openly crying as I looked down at him.”

Loving the White Liar is Hilary A Monroe, Hil’s story how she came to be and had to cope with being in a relationship with man with ADHD (attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder).

While doing laps in the pool at her apartment complex travel agent Hilary meets a charming neighbor woodworker Jayden Monroe, Jay. They both feel an attraction; flirting leads to dating which quickly leads to a deep friendship and much more. But along the way their relationship plateaus Hil not understanding why. There are signs... subtle at first; white lies Jayden not have had any successful relationships…

It turns our Jayden has a secret; He has ADHD. Naïve, ignorant and unprepared Hil forges ahead with their relationship. The story goes on to follow them in sky-high ups and rock-bottom lows as she discovers what dealing with ADHD truly entails. Needless to say this causes both stress and strain on their relationship.

It’s a candid look into the complexity of ADHD. That said contrary to what I expected this is Hil’s journey. Jayden had already been proactive with his condition, structuring his life is such a way that he was functioning. I have so much respect for him.

photo ltwl H BS by sb_zpsekedtk0n.gif

Jayden Monroe, Jay has overcome so much and learned to function in a very intolerant, fast paced society despite his ADHD. There was nothing that bothered me about what he said or did. I felt there were mitigating circumstances for everything. Nine words to describe Jayden: forthcoming, insecure, loving, temperamental, focused, determined, proactive, hard-working and lovable.

photo ltwl he BS by sb_zpswjedezor.gif

There were times Hilary A Monroe, Hil angered me. Her immaturity, ignorance, insensitivity and poor timing caused more stress on their relationship and Jayden’s health. For me this was HER journey of growth. In the end I forgave her. Eight words to describe Hil: Loving, sweet, immature, ignorant, naïve, thoughtless, determined and loyal.

Loving the White Liar is an intense mixture of romance and angst. Though my heart broke a couple of times it is a heart-warming life story of hope and love. As mentioned Hil frustrated me at times with her ignorance and inability to see the big picture, but she came around and I forgave her. Plus that ending more than made up for any angst. It was perfection through and through.

Candid and insightful story-telling! Thought-provoking plot! Oh so sweet hero! A beautiful message of love and hope!

“Playful Jayden was adorable. Nervous Jayden was endearing. Affectionate Jayden was beautiful. But this Jayden... this Jayden was molten.”

This is not my sob story; this is his success story.

Loving the White Liar is not your typical romance. It’s a story of a girl who’s looking for love and a man who never thought he would truly find it.

Hilary is ready to start her life, she’s ready for a change. A new job, a real relationship, and she’s on the right path to get there. She put her two weeks notice in at a dead end job and she’s ready to make a change. She meets a new and handsome neighbor named Jayden. Jayden seems too good to be true at first, but the more she gets to know him, she realizes he’s a little different. Jayden has ADHD. He’s open about it, and there are times she doesn’t notice, that it’s no big deal. Then there are times that it’s a very big deal. But Hilary can’t help but fall hard for Jayden. She loves him so much, and he loves her equally. Even when he’s not easy to deal with, she knows he’s worth it.

 photo 51991676-6640-4c2a-8349-44a302a5dad0_zpsbxrejcb4.jpg
“I told you loving me wasn’t easy, Hil.”

“It’s so easy to love you, Jayden. Too easy. It’s only hard when you won’t let me.”

Hilary loved Jayden completely. She saw past his disorder, past all of his flaws and saw him. She fell in love with this damaged man and knew she couldn't live without him. She wasn’t perfect when it came to him, but she tried to be patient, loving and understanding and I loved her for it. I don’t want you to read this review and see Jayden just as this damaged man with this disorder he’s trying to manage. It’s a big part of who he is, but it isn’t all that he is. He’s a truly great man. He loves Hilary so much and whenever he has an episode, he always tries to make amends for what he’s done. He is a fantastic leading man. I love that this story showed that people aren’t perfect. Relationships aren’t perfect. You’re allowed to feel how you feel. But when you truly love some one, you accept them and love them and all the bad times are still worth it in the end.
“I’ve accepted you as you are, but I’m still allowed to be angry when I feel it, and sad and disappointed and all of those things. But they don’t amount to shit in comparison to how good we have it. We are worth it.”

 photo 79208498-ef8d-40d3-a21b-cdd447e43708_zpshtazss4m.jpg

I love that Kate Stewart writes out of the box romance. It's easy to write a traditional love story with a happy ever after, but a real and raw story with imperfect characters and issues all round can't be simple. What’s important is that this book shows that love isn't always easy. Sometimes it's hard. Sometimes it's messy. Sometimes it's a fight, and that's okay. As long as you're willing to fight. And both of these characters were. I love this author’s writing style. And the ending was amazing! I truly loved this story and it’s one I highly recommend!
“It’s real, and it’s happiness, and it’s love.”

”He can be intense, hard to handle, but he’s worth it…”

description

I’m a total sucker for the stories about heroes who fight conditions. Jayden Monroe is a hero that for me is placed right along with the likes of Colton from Puddle Jumping and Clayton Reed from Find You in the Dark. Kate Stewart’s writing was witty, super sexy and heartwarming. She presented the condition of ADHD with realism and our heroine with just the right amounts of snark and lovability.

Hilary meets hottie Jayden Monroe at her apartment complex’s pool. Sparks, witty banter and dates follow. When Jayden explains why dating hasn’t gone well with him the past Hilary takes his condition lightly until the day she sees firsthand what ADHD is all about.

”I’m not ever going to be under control. I’m not ever going to be easy to deal with. I’m not ever going to be that man.”

description

I adored these two characters together immensely and could have read on and on about them. They have it all swoon, humor, and heart breaking truth in their characters. Jayden was sexy, sweet, and at times absolutely unpredictable.

”Okay, so the asshole he’d warned me about had arrived. And I had to say I wasn’t happy to meet him, but I loved him and so I refused to let the asshole win.”

description

The story isn’t a cookie-cutter type and I truly appreciated the author’s creativity in all the supporting characters and the plot. The fall for these two was unstoppable but the patience and fortitude to learn one another and hold onto their love and struggles was vibrant and tender.

description

Jayden is an irresistible hero who falls in love with a girl and wants to hold onto her and shield her. He was simply fantastic!

"This is forever," he whispered. "No matter how bad we beat the shit out of it. You and me are always."

description

Overall, meeting Jayden, falling in love with him, learning about his condition, and imagining him as your lover, was totally worth the journey and I highly recommend this read!

"You are it for me. You need to know that. I won't be the perfect man, ever. I won't even come close, but for you I'll fight hard to be. I have all this shit going on in my head twenty-four/seven. It never ends. It's incessant and can turn me into a ticking time bomb, and I won't let you be a casualty."

 photo 9f6eff25fdc5dce72ce7ef23896ad2af_zps2ew91hxm.jpg

I beta read this not too long ago and LOVED it!!! It was my very first Beta and I was extremely nervous to say the least. I have read other books by this author and I knew this was definitely different from what she's written previously. I hoped that this would be good because it would hurt to have to tell her I didn't like it, and I knew I had to be brutally honest since she trusted me enough to ask me to Beta read for her. Well, SHUT THE FRONT DOOR, I FUCKING LOVED IT!!!!!!

I read it again for the second time yesterday. Those of you who know me well, know that for me to finish a book in a day, means that I really did ENJOY the heck out of the book!! I'm sitting here today still having so many "FEELS" about this story. It's tugging at my heart and I think it will do the same to all of you who give this one a go!!!

Hilary is a young woman at a crossroads in her life. She has made a life changing decision when she quits her dead end job as a waitress without any job opportunities lined up. She is going to push herself to find a promising career in the next two weeks. Hilary never expected to also meet the man who would change her life forever!!

While swimming in her apartment's pool, Hilary runs into a sexy as hell neighbor. He's completely drool worthy! They continue to run into each other at the pool and eventually start dating. As soon as Jayden Monroe walks into the pool area, I was a goner for him, and so was Hilary!!

Things start off slow between the two. Jay seems to want to treat Hilary with the utmost respect, even though from the start she was willing to drop her panties for him. When the sex finally happens, HOLY HELL, I just about went up in flames!! One thing I know about this author, is she writes SPECTACULAR SEX and she doesn't ever disappoint in that area!!

As the two become closer, Hilary starts to see a different side of Jay and at times it is frightening and heart breaking. He comes clean and tells her that he has ADHD. Well I reacted just as she did. Okay, so he has a form of Attention Deficit Disorder? That's not so bad!! WRONG!! There is so much more that a person with ADHD suffers from and having been married to a man with Bipolar Disorder, I noticed how they have similar traits.

Hilary was an amazing heroine. She loved Jay beyond unconditionally! It takes a very strong person to be able to love and live with someone with ADHD and Hilary had superhuman strength!! And Jay, OMG, I loved him something fierce. He was definitely not an easy man to live with at times but when he would come out of his episodes and realize how much he hurt Hilary, his remorse broke my heart every time!!! He's so god damn lovable, even with his flaws. His struggles just made him that much more beautiful to me.

I'm not saying that having ADHD made Jay any less of a man, than one without ADHD. It actually makes him TEN TIMES the man because he finds a way to function rather well given the challenges he faces every day due to the nature of his disorder.

If you're looking for an emotional read with amazing characters, then this one is for you. You all need to meet Jay! I'm sure you will fall in love with this amazing man and this beautiful story!!

“You never know how much strength you have until you are forced to push through the impossible. You never know how dirty things can get until you’ve been in the trenches. And you can never imagine how much you can truly love someone until you’ve experienced those hurts together and shared the shovel in digging your way out of the dark.“

I’ve never read anything by this author, so I didn’t know exactly what to expect, but reading the blurb and reading that one of the main characters suffers from ADHD I was more than intrigue. This was my first time reading about this disease and while I found this aspect of the story and the story itself intriguing, it was heartbreaking to read Hilary and Jay’s story.

At 27, Hilary is at a crossroads in life. She just quit her job as a waitress, a job who was supposed to be temporary. She never planned to waitress at the same place for four years, but time passed. Now she’s ready to figure out what she wants to do with her life and change her life for the better. At her apartment complex’s pool she meets Jayden Monroe, a gorgeous man who charms her from the very first moment. They start dating, they get close to each other and Hilary falls for Jay fast and hard. She never saw it coming, but Jay is perfect in her eyes and perfect for her, so she doesn’t care they have been together for a short time.

Everything seems to be perfect, until it isn’t.

”I’m not ever going to be under control. I’m not ever going to be easy to deal with. I’m not ever going to be that man.”

When Jay confess that he suffers from ADHD Hilary doesn’t run away. She doesn’t know what really means to be with someone with Jay’s condition, but she's about to find out. He has mood swings, anxiety attacks, he’s impulsive, he suffers from depression, but Hilary is not ready to give up. She’s willing to fight for both of them, to be there for Jay and to help him no matter what.

description

Hilary was such a great heroine. She’s sweet and caring, but what I loved the most about her is how she loved Jay – with all her heart, unconditionally and also her patience. And I’m telling you, this woman had a lot of patience. It goes without saying that she was a strong heroine. Her strength was really admirable.

And Jay...

description

And he really was...and more. Seeing him struggling with everything broke my heart. He’s aware of the fact he’s different from other men and he knows is not easy for Hilary to be with him since he suffers from ADHD. He’s sweet and caring and overall he was a very endearing character.

The plot was interesting and honestly very different from what I expected from a story with this premise. The side characters are interesting, engaging and likeable as well. I enjoyed the sweet dates between Hilary and Jay at the beginning and I loved their banter. Their interactions felt real, honest and you can feel their infatuation and later their love for each other.

description

All in all “Loving the White Liar” was a fantastically written raw and honest story, with two main endearing and realistic characters, a beautiful love story and great writing.

5 "SUN" STARS

I'm a big fan of Kate Stewart's and have thoroughly enjoyed any of her books that I've read. I knew going in that this one was different and again a departure from her other works...I truly don't think she has a 'norm' when it comes to writing and it's that complexity and versatility that I love. She blows me away every time.

Loving the White Liar is a poignant and passionate read that left me overflowing with emotions.

This story is about a young woman, Hilary, who realizes she's just been letting life pass her by without really being in the game. She gives two weeks notice on her waitress job and decides now's the time to make some decisions and choose her own path. Little does she realize, on that same fateful day, while enjoying her daily swim, in walks this deliciously handsome man, Jayden Monroe: the man who would rock her world and steal her heart.

 photo image.jpg1_zpsyzyx7ici.jpg

Hilary and Jayden take things nice and slow as they get to know each other. Hilary notices some odd quirks about Jayden but with him being gorgeous, beyond sexy and also super sweet, she doesn't give them a second thought. Once things get serious, Jayden realizes he has to come clean because he wants them to work and so, he tells Hilary that he's ADHD. Like I would have reacted, Hilary shrugs and says okay. Thinking no big deal and having no clue exactly what that entails.

But it is a big deal. Incidents take place that force Hilary to see other sides of Jayden that scare her, anger hurt and also hurt her.

“Okay, so that asshole he’d warned me about had arrived. And I had to say I wasn’t happy to meet him, but I loved him and so I refused to let the asshole win.”

This story reminds us that Love isn't a fairy tale...

It isn't perfect and it can be messy, dirty and sometimes down and out hard. But it's the fight, the perseverance and the unwavering commitment that make it that much sweeter and all the more worth while.

 photo image.jpg2_zpss3vhayqw.jpg

Hilary knows in her heart of hearts that she can't ever leave Jayden no matter what battles they have to face.

“Wrapping my arms around him, I uncorked the cap and took a swallow. His poison could come at me in any form. I would be its greatest contender.”

Hilary and Jayden are two beautifully complex and lovable characters. Like Hilary, I was a goner for Jayden from the onset. He's got that perfect mix of gentleman and Alpha. And Hilary is one great big beautiful soul. Her unconditional love for Jayden is awe inspiring and breathtaking.

If you've a sweet spot for an exceptionally brilliant love story that's real but also magical, I would highly recommend you read this book!!

“This is forever,” he whispered. “No matter how bad we beat the shit out of it. You and me, we are always.”

3.5 to 4 stars - echoing Sharon's review here.
Wish I could give half a star here.

I enjoyed this one - the second half was better for me.

With the internet, I feel that Hilary should have done more research on ADHD - it's out there with"one click" so the fact that she got very frustrated in the relationship sort of annoyed me.

A well written story but maybe the fact that it had so many 5 star reviews written before I started it blurred my vision a bit and I was expecting more.

Loved the epilogue.

Loved the family dynamics with her family.

“The perfect marriage is just two imperfect people who refuse to give up on each other”

“This is forever,” he whispered. “No matter how bad we beat the shit out of it. You and me, we are always.”

“I feel like I’m going crazy,” I said with tears in my eyes. “I can’t decide whether to love you or hate you from one minute to the next.”
“I told you loving me wasn’t easy, Hil,” he said hoarsely, his eyes begging for forgiveness.
“It’s so easy to love you, Jayden. Too easy. It’s only hard when you won’t let me.” In two strides he was in front of me, cupping my face.
“You are it for me. You need to know that. I won’t be the perfect man, ever. I won’t even come close, but for you I’ll fight hard to be.”

Loving the White Liar is not a cookie cutter romance. It's not an easy love story, filled with sunshine and rainbows. This is the story of a young woman falling in love with a man with ADHD. It doesn't seem to be much of an issue at first, but as things progress, Hilary comes to realize the extent of Jayden's ADHD. And it's not always pretty. Will their relationship be able to handle the ups and downs?

description

Stories with damaged/flawed/imperfect characters are my weakness. The emotion, the gut-wrenching angst. I love when an author shows beauty in imperfection - it adds a depth and honesty that makes the story much more memorable. Loving the White Liar was one of those books, but it also wasn't completely weighted down with heavy issues, it was perfectly balanced with plenty humor, and steam. Overall, it was a great read for me, with a wonderful message.

Loving the white liar, the devious dog and the demanding diva...

Confessions...I read books...a lot of books, and sometimes I have the very bad habit of thinking every medical and mental illness I read about, I've got. After reading Loving the White Liar I think I've got ADHD.

- SOCIAL CUES - I sometimes say the wrong things in public
- HYPER FOCUS - I am addicted to reading too much that life goes on without me
- IMPULSE CONTROL - I have been known to buy things I don't need e.g. shoes and clothes
- RESTLESSNESS - If I drink too much coffee I can't sleep
- EXPLOSIVE TEMPERAMENT/ SUDDEN OUTBURST OF EMOTION - PMS...enough said
- SOCIAL ANXIETY/ FEAR OF THE UNKNOWN - I don't want to be at a One Direction concert

OK, I'm being silly and this book did open my eyes to the seriousness of ADHD. Like Hilary the heroine of the story I didn't think it was a big deal. I thought it was more about the OCD and hyper activity, but it's so much more.

This story was gripping. I started to question things about myself and some of the answers shocked me. Would I be like Hilary was at first and question why such a good looking guy would be interested in me? Would I question what was wrong with him? Would I willingly be with someone if I knew how hard things would get? All of these feelings made me question whether I could cope as well as Hilary did. Yes, at times she struggled and wondered if it was all worth it, but I never doubted her love for him.

Wow...Jayden. I loved this character. I knew going in there were going to be issues, but silly me I judged based on the good stuff instead of the whole package. I knew he was going to be devoted and caring. I knew he was good looking and did sweet and loving gestures. I never thought of the repercussions of living with someone who's mind taps out to a beat ten times faster than everyone else's. The pressure Jay faced daily to be like others. He wanted to be normal for Hilary, so she never felt the need to leave. Their journey was a hard one to read but so rewarding in the end.

I admit I went into reading this story with preconceived ideas, after all this is a romance. I thought it would be about him getting better with Hilary's help. As Dr Sawyer's character explained brilliantly, it's about finding your own ways to cope and manage loving someone who has ADHD, not changing them. I think that was the turning point for me. I realised the perfect love story doesn't always have two perfect people getting together. It's about two people who are perfect together (warts and all) working towards their HEA.

This story wasn't an easy or light and fluffy read. There were times I thought they should just give up, and times where I wanted Hilary to suck it up buttercup. Honestly, I never felt anger at Jayden. When the harsh words came flying from him and the shutting down and rejection were there, I just wanted to help him. I didn't know the answers or solutions to help Hilary cope, but I wanted to. There are no easy answers and that was my biggest lesson to be learnt.

My enjoyment of this story was a slow build. At first I thought Hilary was immature, but soon realised that she just hadn't found a reason to want to grow up. I loved seeing Jayden grow to trust and believe that Hilary wanted to be HAM (Jayden's last name is Munroe) and was willing to work at it. This story made me laugh, cry, blush and cringe. I felt it all, ended on a high and wanted more. Definitely one of my best reads for 2015.

Man the FEELS in this book...

description

I really liked this one. Both characters were awesome. I really felt for both of them, though I will admit a lot of the time it felt like Hilary was the one always having to be the bigger person and forgive Jayden's hurtful words and actions. Of course I understood the ADHD aspect and was sympathetic to that, still, at times it felt like it was a catch-all for every bad action he took.

Overall though this was a really good book and I am glad I had a chance to read it.

You know that feeling you get, when you start a book and after reading the prologue you can already tell you are going to love the story? I fell deep in love with Loving the White Liar, pretty quickly.

This book is really special, definitely a Top Favorite of the Year for me.

 photo 9f692e98-e2cd-4073-8825-8e6d637dd24d_zpshd8qfzqz.jpg

Hilary feels stuck, she has no clue what she wants to do with her life. She put college on hold to take a break after changing majors twice, and took a waitressing job while she figures out a more solid plan for her life but that was four years ago. She's ready for a big change, also her love life is sort of non-existent.

One day she has the crazy impulse to give her two week notice at the restaurant where she works. Still reeling from the reality of her decision, she gets the need to go for a night swim at her building's pool in hopes to relax, and think of a new game plan. There she meets a very handsome guy who also lives in her complex, they flirt a little, and he ends up asking her out on a date.

Jayden is absolutely gorgeous, smart and just totally swoony but after a few dates Hilary starts to notice some quirks about him, something seems a little off with him. These two have the best time together and are super compatible. When the relationship stars to get serious, Jayden comes clean about having ADHD.

Hilary is totally in love with beautiful Jayden and after hearing about his condition, she really doesn't give it much thought. She just crosses it off as him just being a neat freak and little obsessive about certain things but nothing more than that. Little by little the reality of the situation will prove her how difficult things can get. Will love be enough? Can Hilary love Jayden completely for who he is or will she try to fix him?

I think in this day and age most people have heard of the term ADHD, and some of us have a vague idea of what it means but I think unless you know someone close to you who lives with this illness, we can't really understand what goes in the life of a person who has it and how it affects those around them.

The beauty of this story to me was how real it felt, how beautiful and devastating Jayden and Hilary's journey was. We all know that in real life love can sometimes be as painful and complicated as wonderful and with this story it was so easy to relate to the characters, even if you've never experience what ADHD can be like for a couple and what it could do to a marriage.

The plot had a lot of passion and steam but also a lot of heart, and anyone who reads it will be held captive by the tale of two very complex characters, who were imperfect together but refuse to give up on each other. After reading this gem of a book I can't help but feel hopeful.

The author created the most beautiful music playlist to complement the story. Hearing those tunes, was like experiencing the beauty of the story all over again but through music. Please make sure to check it out on Spotify. ❤️

5 'happy tears' stars

"It's a white lie. They are harmless."

I'm glad I trusted my GR friends and read this one because Hilary and Jayden has such an exceptional journey that kept me up all night long.

Loving the White Liar is such a touching and moving read. Although the main focus is on the subject of ADHD and how it affect the relationship between the couple, it also a story that is full of humor, sense of family/friendship and learning the meaning of unconditional love. Is a book that had me leaking happy tears throughout the read.

Hilary is a woman on a dead end job when she realized she's hitting her 30s. While doing some soul searching and outlining her career path, she developed a new relationship with her hot neighbor, Jayden who seems to be the perfect guy.

Jayden Monroe is the perfect boyfriend in every way. He had great sense of humor, he knows how to cook a kickass chicken casserole, he is a homebody and he is a total gentleman that respect Hilary.

Playful Jayden was adorable. Nervous Jayden was endearing. Affectionate Jayden was beautiful.

Why is this amazing man is still single is due to his ADHD.

Hilary don't understand what's the big deal when Jayden told her about it. I don't either. Poor woman was drunk on love potion. We assumed he had short attention span, but reality is so much worst than that. When Hilary found out the extend of his disorder, is already too late for her to feel anything but love towards the man who called her 'fishnipple'.

The asshole he'd warned me about had arrived. And I had to say I wasn't happy to meet him, but I loved him and so I refused to let the asshole win.

I read plenty of books about Asperger sufferer, but ADHD is a first for me. Is an eye opening experience to see how Jayden struggle through his daily life and how his disorder affect his relationship with Hilary. His quirks and idiosyncrasies can drive people around him up the wall and out the door.

"I told you loving me wasn't easy, Hil."
"It's so easy to love you, Jayden. Too easy. It's only hard when you won't let me."

I like that Hilary isn't all perfect herself and her mischief is endearing. She had her own flaws, but is admirable to see despite all the hardship she endured, she had so much faith in them. It made the story feel so hopeful and uplifting instead of being angsty.

"I don't care if you drink blood once a month from a one legged whore. I love you."

Loving the White Liar is a book that must not be miss by any romance reader who loves a tender love story with the ups and downs in a relationship. We watched how Hilary and Jayden overcome so much in their years together, having faith that their love will triumph all challenges.

It also proves to me that contemporary romance is not all about asshole, angst and tattooed bad boys. Once a while, we meet a Jayden that make us hopeful that we will find another man as special as him.

Times stop, anxiety falls away and as I wait for you, I'll be the calmest I've ever been.

5++ All-consuming Stars!

When I'd gotten a message from Kate Stewart asking if I'd be interested in reading her newest novel, I did a little research. The blurb promised me a love story with a flawed hero and a heroine that wants to tell her story....not for sympathy, but for a chance to tell her happily ever after under the most trying of circumstances. She promised me angst and with that one word, I dove in immediately. One of the BEST book decisions I've made in a while.

 photo 2C36FB91-2367-46DA-887A-0314001542B3_zpsimherhhq.gif

Loving the White Liar is the story of Hilary and Jayden. Both in their late twenties, they meet at their apartment complex pool one day. Hilary is at a crossroads in life, quitting her dead-end waitressing job with no back-up plan other than wanting to do something, ANYTHING, more rewarding than the path she's on. Jayden is a hot, virile woodworker and their chemistry is palpable from the start. And so their story begins. Jayden was such a chivalrous soul in those early days when Hilary was ready to mount him like a female dog in heat. It was honestly quite comical. But Jay just wanted to do this right by her. He somehow knew Hilary was different and he wasn't going to screw it up being a one-night-stand.

Loving the White Liar reads very much like a non-fiction memoir. I'm not entirely sure how much of this story is true and how much is fiction but let me say this- it will suck you in and not let you go! It's written entirely in Hilary's POV, taking you day by day into the all-consuming love they share. You will become so emotionally invested in her love story, feel everything she feels, you truly feel as if you're reading her diary. It's open. It's frank, raw, not a sob fest but telling of her story with Jay. This quote details the raw openness of the MC's thoughts and feelings with her readers...

You never know how much strength you have until you are forced to push through the impossible. You never know how dirty things can get until you’ve been in the trenches. And you can never imagine how much you can truly love someone until you’ve experienced those hurts together and shared the shovel in digging your way out of the dark.

Jayden is much more than the muscled, tatooed doting man Hilary is fast falling for. In time, she notices his quirks- very structured, insanely clean, prefers to be home versus dining out. The flags start going up yet Jay doesn't open up regarding his struggles with ADHD. And even when he does, he's pretty closed-lipped about how he feels and what he struggles with on a daily basis just to quell the chaos within his head.

I learned so much about ADHD by reading this book. On a personal note, I have a brother that suffers from severe ADHD. He's 46 and single. I'm now seeing WHY he's likely single. Living with, loving a person with this disorder I now know cannot be easy. In a scene with Jay's therapist, the author takes this opportunity to educate the reader on what life is like suffering from ADHD as an adult. Let me say this- I HAD NO CLUE my brother survives this way mentally yet I saw all the similarities this therapist highlighted. It almost borders on bipolar disorder and I can see how it can be misdiagnosed. Couple this newfound knowledge with Hilary's experiences LIVING with a person with ADHD, I saw both sides of the equation.

Loving the White Liar gifts the reader with so much- a flawed hero, a heroine so much in love with said hero but also human, trying to salvage their relationship and understand his struggles on a daily basis. It gifts us with friendship that encompasses all the good times and bad in life- including snot cries. Family struggles and deep seated love and support for struggles life delivers without fail. And most importantly, a love story of epic proportions. Jayden and Hilary have something not many people get and with patience and understanding, they WILL get their HEA, ADHD be damned. I loved it!

I can't complete my review without highlighting the steam factor in the book. I think that was the biggest draw between them at first. Complete. Undeniable. Chemistry. Kate Stewart captured that draw tenfold. As I said, I'm very suspicious this story is very near and dear to her heart and I'm not going to ask her if it's HER love story- I'll just let my mind embrace these two as if they're real, living their HEA somewhere like they SO deserve.

I'd HIGHLY recommend this book for fans of contemporary romance with a fair amount of drama, angst, and steam. Readers that are looking for something different in their reading experience. A chance to learn something about people around us daily- struggling with life and love while suffering from adult-form ADHD. There's nothing contrived here. Just realistic, true life struggles to stay with your one true love when all the odds are stacked against you. Thank you for sharing this story with me. It will surely remain tops for my reads of 2015.

***A special thanks to my friend Patty for encouraging me to read this. You were so right. This book was totally my cuppa. Muah!

This will be short and sweet.

I just added this one to my TBR just a couple of weeks ago. Reviews had been popping up on my feed and it sounded like something I'd enjoy reading, a story that would tug at my heart.

And it did. Hilary and Jayden's story was sweet, tender and inspiring.

Loving someone can be one of the easiest things you do. But when you fall in love with a man who has a disorder, one that you don't completely understand, that love will be challenged in a way you never expected.

What a beautiful story! I love when an author challenges you to think. This story will definitely challenge you to re-examine your thoughts on acceptance, understanding and loving.

On the surface this may seem like a simple romance - a nice little story about a girl who falls in love with a boy. who just happens to have ADHD - they learn to live and love together ... BUT the only thing simple about this book is how easy it was to love it ... Just like Jayden's ADHD, there is so much more under the surface.
Introspective and critical, this book takes a hard, honest look at life in a relationship. In fact, I found myself drawing many parallels to my own marriage and thinking about how easily an individual's actions or words can be misunderstood ... how easily we ALL can be misunderstood. Now add to that the additional challenge of ADHD and you've got yourself an exceptional story.

Despite the beauty & heavy topic, this book reads like a light and fun rom-com. I found myself smiling like an idiot throughout the full first half. There are so many fun moments that had me falling in love with the characters.

"We can bond on the surface, criticizing shit reality TV or ... we can start a serious relationship with Netflix ... No cheating, it's a commitment. Tell me, baby, do you think you are ready for that kind of commitment?"

Overall, a fantastic book. I walked away feeling a little more confident and open to my real life relationship ... you know when a book makes you analyze your life, it's good!

Thank you to the author for providing me an advance review copy of the book.

dnf..60%

It's just like me to not be able to get into a book everyone else loved. So, I decided to dnf so that I can avoid rating it.:)

I have read a lot of self published stuff since I've been on goodreads, so I am used to reading books that aren't perfectly edited. I can read right over typos most of the time, but this book had a lot of awkward sentences ect, that I found to be distracting. Also, my pet peeves ended up getting the best of me. I mean, there are only so many times I can read about how she's drowning in the deep blue of his eyes. *sigh*

I know, I'm a horrible person.

JAYDEN

HILARY

Well,if I could give this more stars I would...I just loved this book. This is an amazing story of two people who faced many obstacles but never let go.

Hilary is at a kind of crossroads in her life when she meets her gorgeous new neighbour one day at her Apartments pool. She is captivated by him and the feeling is mutual. They start dating and she does notice that there are things about Jayden that are different but she is so wrapped up in him she kind of puts it down to part of his charm...
When he tells her he has ADHD,in a way she doesn't take it too seriously...something she later regrets.

"You are it for me.You need to know that.I won't be the perfect man, ever.I won't even come close, but for you I'll fight hard to be....

These two characters are amazing.
Hilary had a fierce determination about her.She tried so hard to be patient and understanding.
And Jayden, well I just adored the man.He was so attentive, caring and intense in his love for Hilary but he also had a vulnerability about him.

The Author did an amazing job in portraying the deep, deep love Jayden and Hilary had for each other...they were just perfect together.

They both make mistakes along the way but fight so strongly for their love
Just an amazing, beautiful story that will stay with me for a long time.....

"It's so easy to love you,Jayden.Too easy. It's hard when you won't let me."

This book totally blew me away..Just perfect.......

5+ The Possibilities are Endless Stars

I was offered this book in advance and I jumped on it as the small book blurb alone piqued my interest. Just about 10 pages into the read I was hooked…20 pages in I could not be disturbed. I devoured this in one sitting and I was completely blown away by Kate Stewart.

Loving the White Liar is more than a love story. It truly is a love journey of two amazing people who prove that relationships are not easy…that nothing is impossible…that true love sometimes hurts.

There is a saying or maybe a song that goes ‘you always hurt the ones you love’. But, to me, the part they left off is that those who survive those hurts may end up thriving together as a result

 photo PhotoGrid_1437349592003_zpshh6jijeu.jpg

At 27 Hilary is undecided on her life’s true meaning. Waitressing and buying time until her aha moment. Just like her career, she is in the same boat when it comes to relationships. She just does not want to settle. When a sexy neighbor engages her with flirty banter, true interest is piqued. Jayden Monroe is unlike anyone she had ever met. He is sweet but full on sexy with one liners that would make a woman swoon or need a panty change! But inside this beautiful man was his very only kind of uncertainty. A mind full of noise…emotional upheaval…and chaos. ADHD, such a common catch all for many. Even Hilary shrugged off the term and dove head first into a deep all-consuming life with Jayden

My passion for him was sweet poison in a way. I understood it better now more than ever and reveled in my love for him, knowing in the end it could hurt me to be with him

No, Hilary was not naïve. She was not a push-over. She was not a believer in insta-anything. She was just a woman completely swept of her feet by an incredible man whose “idiosyncrasies” were easy to over look…until they weren’t.

I’m not ever going to be under control. I’m not ever going to be easy to deal with. I’m not ever going to be that man

 photo PhotoGrid_1437350582615_zpsrcxkv8se.jpg

Oh, this story. I know my review will not do justice to the amazing read this was. Kate Stewart delivered a romance so palpable that each phase of Hilary and Jayden’s love was experienced. I giggled as the sassy banter and cheesy one liner’s came out. I blushed and swooned at the sweet and tender moments of the first date. My heart raced every time Jayden rested his forehead against Hilary’s…panting after those kisses. I also found myself saddened and angry with every outburst…walk away…or little white lie Hilary faced. The writing was so flawless that the fragmented mind of a man in love brought a vivid sun for the summer while casting deep shadows over all.

ADHD…not so simple as it seems. Is love enough to overcome the ticking time bomb of uncertainty? Will either survive the chaos? Doesn’t ‘love giveth and love taketh away’?

Hillary and Jayden, will forever hold a special spot in my heart. Strength, determination, and a push to let love in has made their story my favorite of 2015 to date

4 Emotional, Crazy, Loving Stars

If I need a good dramatic book, then I hit up one Kate Stewart reads because I know I’m going to get an epic tale. This will be an audio review of Loving the White Liar.

I love audio books. I love dramatic and emotional audio books even more because of all the feels I get. This is my first Kate Stewart audio book and she nailed it with the narrator. I usually go for the feminine voice, but Hilary is strong and feisty and she needed a little gruff. No, the narrator wasn’t manly but it just had a smoky edge to it. The pace was good and she transitioned to other voices well. I’m not sure I could listen to her in another book because I now associate Hilary with the narrator, so that has to be a good thing.

It took me some time to listen to this book, but it wasn’t because of the story. I basically listened when the baby was napping. What is so great about this book is that I could put the book down and come back to it days later and still understand what was going on.

Loving the White Liar isn’t what I expected. I’ve been putting off this book for some time because I figure I would be reading about a mean nasty Hero that lies, but it’s far from that. It’s a book about love, relationships and what you would do to be with the person you care about.

I love these kinds of books. I call them couple books, because it’s about the couple and all the issues they face. It’s a realistic book about real problems real people face.

The star of the show is Jayden. If you ever wanted a complex Hero then he wins it all. He’s emotional, complicated and has a ton of issues. What’s his deal? He has ADHD. I read this book blindly so I didn’t know about this and when I realized that was what he had, I kind of rolled by eyes. How bad could it be? I’ve read books where the Hero had DID (Dissociate Identity disorder) so I have a slightly skew but high expectation of what a Hero can have (in reference towards mental disorders).

I applaud the author for opening my eyes to this disease. A disease I got confused with bi-polar disorder. Anyhow, if you want to know what ADHD and all the stuff a person can go through, this is your book.

What Jayden and Hilary go through as a couple is very intense. There are a lot of ups and downs. When the relationship is good it’s good and when it’s bad it’s bad. Most of the fault lies on Jayden because of his reaction towards tough stuff, but Hilary shares some of the blame too. You will love to hate Jayden. He can be frustrating at times and completely sweet.

Also this book is REALLY steamy. I blushed a few times and was taken aback by all the steam.

It’s a sweet book with a dramatic storyline and intense couple. I really enjoyed it because of how real and raw it was. Also, it made me appreciate my relationship with my husband more. And I like Hilary would do anything to make it work.

"This is not my sob story; this is his success story.”

This story is so lovely and unique. I was truly overwhelmed with the ending and the feels. I haven’t read a story like this before, but really loved it!

Jayden isn’t your typical hero. Yes, he is sexy, witty, and handsome, but he is also suffers from a mental illness and despite wanting to be perfect for Hilary he often fails at finding a perfect balance. His imperfections and struggles made him perfect to me. I loved seeing his sacrifices and how far he was willing to go to make Hilary happy. He was the best man he could be for her.

It’s important to point out Hilary doesn’t place unrealistic expectations on Jayden. She wants what we all want, love, stability and openness. I guess why this story was perfect to me is it was realistic. It wasn’t crazy, dramatic or have some twist. The story was just real, their love felt real and their struggles were heartfelt.

There are parts of this story that are ugly and really broke my heart, but in the end those broken moments were some of my favorites. I loved seeing this couple grow and learn to be together. The last 25% of this book was my favorite and I was completely overwhelmed with the feels. Hilary and Jayden made me cheer for their happiness, I was completely into their story.

If you are looking for a book with fun banter, sexiness and tons of heart this is your book. Kate blew me away with her originality and beautiful writing. I highly recommend!

3.5 - 4 ★'s

Hilary's come to a point where she's decided to take charge of her life and make things happen. And of course, why not take on a gorgeous, difficult man to make things even better!

I was expecting a sweet love story that dealt with learning how to live with someone with ADHD. What I wasn't expecting was how exasperating, frustrating and wonderful that would be.

Jayden has ADHD and he's learned to handle that by living a certain way. He's not perfect but he's trying. His relationships have never really worked out because of it but there's hope with Hilary.

At this point, I had a bit of frustration myself. Jayden wanted to make things work so desperately but he did nothing to help Hilary. In fact, he hid it and pushed her away.

description

Obviously, this caused a huge amount of drama and problems forcing Hilary to seek out her own answers and ways of dealing. I was shocked that she let things go to the next level without doing that.

The good part is that these two, namely Jayden, are very romantic, loving and HOT. There were quite a few wonderful scenes and it made you want these two to work things out.

I really enjoyed the family dynamic that was included in the story. It was wonderful how they were all there for each other. And I also liked Hilary and Gerri's (her best friend) relationship...that lead to some hilarious moments.

Things do end well and there is a wonderful epilogue. However, the ADHD is scary and so much more that I thought! It would have been nice to get some of Jayden's POV.

Where do I start?

This was not what I expected. AT ALL. And I love that. I love books that surprise me. Books that prove me wrong. Books that blows my mind away. Books that...you get the pointe. Anyways, can I just say..

Talk about feeling. Everything. When you read this book you can't help but feel because it's so real. Sure we all like our fair share of HEA and riding of to the sunset bullshit, but this, this is what I call a "real" book.

Ladies and gentlemen please rise for my standing ovation,

I'm not gonna say what this is about, I'm just gonna let you go ahead and read it if you still haven't. And mark my word, YOU WILL LOVE IT.

★★★★ 4 Stars ★★★★

I really enjoyed Loving the White Liar, it was unique and very realistic and although quite painful at times, it was a heartwarming story.

Hilary is living with her friend, working as a waitress. She is single and looking for Mr. Right. Realising that her life is going nowhere fast, she quits her job and vows to find her dream job. What she isn't expecting is to find her dream man, right on her doorstep. She has experienced love once before and want's it again, she is not happy to settle for anything less, so when she meets her sexy new neighbour at the communal swimming pool, she is happy when he asks her out on a date.

Jayden has been in relationships before, but never anything that has been lasting and he really isn't expecting to find a woman who will put up with him forever. He suffers from ADHD and knows that he can be difficult to live with at times. This doesn't stop him from pursuing Hilary though, and he proceeds to woo her - with the chemistry that they have it would be hard not to!

Their relationship is an up and down one, one minute Jay is the perfect boyfriend, and the next he is being hurtful and indifferent. Hilary is in too deep to just leave him though, and decides to fight for the true love that she has always wanted.

This story is about falling in love, and staying in love amidst the troubles of life. It's about loving someone, flaws and all, and flaws that can't be changed or that will ever go away.

"It's so easy to love you, Jayden. Too easy.
It's only hard when you won't let me."

It was a beautiful story, I loved Jayden when he was just being himself, he was such a romantic. it was painful to watch his outbursts but also heartbreaking because he just couldn't help hurting the person he loved most. Hilary loved him so much, and although at first she didn't really understand the true extent of his condition, she really stood up to the plate once she knew that life would always be difficult for them, and sought help in order to save their relationship.

"His poison could come at me in any form.
I would be its greatest contender."

A great pair of characters, and a wonderfully informative story.

Loving the White Liar is a standalone, told in Hilary's POV.

“The perfect marriage is just two imperfect people who refuse to give up on each other."

At age twenty seven Hilary met the love of her life by the pool in her apartment building. Hilary and Jayden fell fast and while she knew things weren't perfect, she knew Jayden was the one for her. Jayden has ADHD and at first it didn't seem like a problem, until it began to affect their relationship. Hilary tries to understand Jayden's struggles but often cannot break through his walls. Soon Hilary will have to see if she can live with Jayden and his white lies, or without.

“I feel like I’m going crazy, I can’t decide whether to love you or hate you from one minute to the next.”
“I told you loving me wasn’t easy, Hil.”
“It’s so easy to love you, Jayden. Too easy. It’s only hard when you won’t let me.”
“You are it for me. You need to know that. I won’t be the perfect man, ever. I won’t even come close, but for you I’ll fight hard to be.”

Don't let the 3.5 star rating deceive you, I really did enjoy this book. The addition of the ADHD aspect of the story is what makes this book unique, as many people are not aware of the condition and the everyday struggles of those who have it. It was my favorite part of the book. I also really liked the character of Jayden, he fought hard to be where he was at without his medication and he loved fiercely, and without apology.

What wasn't really for me was the instalove aspect of the story. I know it needed to be done in order to focus on the relationship struggles, but this romance happened a little too fast for me. And without the ADHD it would be a story we've all read before. Sometimes the writing didn't flow.

I would definitely recommend this to my friends who love unconventional heroes and do not mind a bit of instalove. I can say I've read Room 212 by this author and LOVED it so I highly recommend that one.

This book is about a man with ADHD and his struggle with his mental condition to maintain a relationship with the woman he loves.

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a psychiatric disorder characterized by problems about paying attention, excessive activity, or difficulty controlling behavior which is not appropriate for a person's age.

Naturally, his mood changes, his temper tantrums, the white lies he tells and his obsessive compulsive behavior (OCD) create situations hard to cope for the woman who loves him but Jayden and Hillary have a very strong attraction, which later turns into a great love and therefore, they fight hard for their relationship.

He fights with his condition, tries hard not to hurt her, he does his best not to lose her.

She tries to understand his deficiency and tries to cope with it because she thinks he is worth it.

The book is all about that struggle of them as a couple and with such a refreshing topic, that could have been a brilliant book but it had a repetitive tone and it wasn't flowing at times.

The plot line was basically as follows:

They are happy at home with no one around
They kiss
They make love
Something out of the ordinary happens
He loses it
He explodes
They fight
He feels hurt
He knows he hurt her
He stays away from her
He feels better after a while
He apologizes
She forgives

And then, the very same things happen:

They are happy at home with no one around
They kiss
They make love
Something out of the ordinary happens
He loses it
He explodes
They fight
He feels hurt
He knows he hurt her
He stays away from her
He feels better after a while
He apologizes
She forgives

And then, again the very similar things happen...

So, when it happens the first time, it is interesting to watch and see how they get over it but after a few repetitions, it gets boring.

All in all, I think, it is still an interesting story. It just didn’t live up to my expectations...

4.5 'My Sun' Stars!

This book.. My God, it's amazing! I got Loving the White Liar when I signed up on Kate Stewart's newsletter (go do it now!!) and well.. she is one of my favorite authors so you can guess that I pretty much loved it! It definitely is different from the other books I've read by her but it still has that touch that only Kate knows how to do.

I do love having a strong and loving couple and Jayden and Hilary are definitely that (and with an amazing chemistry too!!). Also the introduction and development of ADHD was fantastically done and this made the story even more engaging and emotional. Highly recommend Loving the White Liar!

❝You never know how much strength you have until you are forced to push through the impossible. You never know how dirty things can get until you've been in the trenches. And you can never imagine how much you can truly love someone until you've experienced those hurts together and shared the shovel in digging your way out of the dark.❞

Dealing with a loved one's mental illness is not easy, living it, is even harder. Kate Stewart showcased the struggle with this novel. She tackled the ugly, the pain, and the heartache and what she found was understanding, acceptance and unconditional love.
❝His poison could come at me in any form. I would be its greatest contender.❞

I admired Hilary's strength and perseverance. Despite Jayden's explosive and trying behavior, she overcame the devastation it caused, looked beyond the ADHD to see the man she loved. She was solid and resolute in her love. She stood by and supported him. Hilary's job was not easy, but when you love someone and take the time to look beyond the bad, the rewards you receive at the end are well worth it.

Jayden suffered from ADHD. It affected his relationships, his job, his self-esteem, his mood... the one solid thing he had going for him was his love for Hilary. He believed he was damaged, unlovable and unworthy of love. Her strength encouraged him and drove him to be best he could be. She was the first woman, aside from his mother, who had shown him, unconditional love.
❝It was real. It was love. It was happiness. It was us, and for Jayden and I, that meant always.❞

This was a great read. You could feel the author's passion in her words. My first book by this author, I can't wait to read more from Kate Stewart!
