I wrote my first novel called There's A Thin Line Between Love And Hate when I was 13. I used to write a chapter every night then pass it around to my fellow convent school pupils every morning, and they seemed to love it.
I grew up in London and then grew up again in Leeds when I went to university. I eventually returned to London to study for my masters degree and stayed put for the following years. I took up various temping jobs and eventually got my big break writing, editing and subbing for various women's magazines and national papers.
Fiction and storytelling were still a HUGE passion of mine and I continued to write short stories and novels every spare moment that I got. In 2001 I had the idea for The Cupid Effect and my career as a published novelist began. And it's been fantastic. In 2006, third novel, My Best Friend's Girl was published. It was incredibly successful - selling nearly 90,000 copies within its first few weeks on sale. Six weeks later, it was selected for the Richard & Judy Summer Reads Book Club and the book went on to sell over 500,000 copies. Oh, there I go again, this is meant to be about me, not my novels.
Okay, back to me. I recently spent two years living in Sydney Australia, and now I'm back in England. But I can't say for how long I'll be in the UK for because I've been well and truly bitten by the travel bug

Um livro divertido e disparatado que aborda um conjunto de desafios emocionais - amor e amizade-, que todos enfrentamos num dado momentos das nossas vidas, e que são muitas vezes aligeirados mediante a deglutição de chocolate:
«hummmm, um homem ou chocolate....vejamos a questão desta forma: nunca terá de ficar à espera que uma tablete de chocolate lhe telefone.»

Adoro Dorothy Koomson. Já li praticamente tudo o que foi publicado em Portugal. Acho que tem a ver com o estilo dela, a maneira como ela constrói a história e a narra. Ela tem um estilo sublime que me enreda desde o início ao fim. Os livros dela costumam ser dramáticos, mas não opressivos. São livros que nos dão que pensar, que transmitem lições de vida e cujos personagens poderiam ser pessoas reais. Após ter lido os que são considerados os melhores- A Filha da Minha Melhor Amiga, Um Erro Inocente e O Outro Amor da Vida Dele- [também já li o Bons Sonhos, Meu Amor e o Pedaços de Ternura] e de ter ouvido que Amor e Chocolate e O Amor Está no Ar eram os mais fraquinhos, fiquei um pouco preocupada. Não por achar que não iria gostar, mas por achar que ia acabar por me sentir desiludida e o livro deixar-me-ia uma sensação de vazio.
Os meus receios foram dissipados logo desde o principio. Consigo compreender porque existem pessoas que o consideram mais fraco, afinal Amor e Chocolate não tem uma história tão dramática como base como os demais. Não envolve doenças terminais, ou prostituição, ou pedofilia. E tem mais humor... E acabou por destronar O Outro Amor da Vida Dele como meu livro preferido de Dorothy Koomson *choque!*
Em parte isso deve-se ao facto de achar a história super fofinha, ter criado empatia com o casal protagonista, ter adorado o facto de me fazer rir e haver uma evolução palpável nas personagens. Em parte deve-se por me identificar com Amber e conseguir entender perfeitamente o que ela sentia, o que receava e as atitudes que tomava.
De maneira simplificada: Amber tem medo de compromissos a sério, porque presenciou o quão para o torto as coisas podem dar quando era criança e isso marcou-a e moldou-a. Ela também não gosta de conflitos e tem um medo de morte que deixem de gostar dela. Então, ela não se envolve a 100%, não discute, tenta ser perfeita e reprime-se. Até que Greg entra em cena e força a entrada no seu mundo. Ele leva-a à loucura com a intromissão no seu espaço pessoal, mas isso fará com que ela enfrente todos os seus medos e se liberte. Mas um segredo do passado ameaça arruinar a relação deles. Contei demais? Peço desculpa por isso. Ficaram ávidos para saber qual o segredo e qual o impacto que terá na relação de Amber e Greg? Leiam o livro :p
Acho que é daqueles livros que vale a pena ler. Foi um livro que, para além de me fazer rir, também me derreteu um pouquinho por dentro. O Greg é mesmo amoroso *blushes*

I LOVED THIS BOOK! It's the first book I've ready by Dorothy Koomson, and I can tell you it will not be my last! This book is going on my keeper shelf.
This book starts off with a bang and then doesn't let you go. I don't want to give too much away but it has one of my favorite premises, which is friends becoming lovers, but Ms.Koomson does it such a way that it's fresh. She also does an amazing job with the characters. Both Amber and Greg have their issues, but it's those issues that have kept them from settling down with any one. And each has reacted differently. Amber has decided she will never marry and to stay single, while Greg has turned into a man-slut, for the lack of a better word. (Sorry if that words offends anyone!) So you've got an unlikely couple, add their respective best friends Jen and Matt, who have been involved with each other for three years, and you've got a very juicy story.
I'd recommend picking this book up when you've got free time, because once you start, it's extremely hard to put it down. You'll want to know what's happening next. I'm off to see what other Dorothy Koomson books I can read next!

This was, quite frankly, very disappointing. The plot was pretty much non-existent and it showed no sign of changing so, 3/4's of the way through, I gave up and skipped straight to the end where it didn't even finish how I wanted it to!!! I really hope this was just an exeception because the other Dorothy Koomson's books I have read were so so so much better than this!

My third book of Dorothy's, complicated AF and full of graphic description of chocolates. Not my cup of tea sorry to say, the MC's love interest is a heck of a womanizer and thus, a big turn off for me. Problems after problems throughout the book and suddenly it ends with everything resolved. *sigh*

Para quem já leu os livros mais recentes de Dorothy Koomson, este é um livro diferente e mais leve, mais como um chic-lit.
Sim, é uma história de amor mas com muitas cenas divertidas. As próprias personagens têm os seus problemas, já que Amber tem fobia a compromissos e Greg é um mulherengo, mas tornam a história mais real, já que tudo tem uma explicação perfeitamente realista.
E Amber tem uma grande fixação por chocolate e, por isso, temos muitas mas muitas referências a chocolates e que nos poderão dar vontade de comer chocolate... muito =D

Gosto dos livros desta escritora. A maneira como escreve e conta as histórias prende-me do principio ao fim, mesmo que a história não seja nada de especial, como eu acho que é este caso. Não posso dizer que para mim este foi um dos livros favoritos desta autora. Adivinhei sem dificuldade o desenrolar da história e não tive nenhuma surpresa pelo meio, como eu aprecio. Mas a maneira como tudo é descrito deixou-me com vontade de o ler e avançar rapidamente na história. Venham mais destes então!

I read this years ago and loved it, re read it, and it is not how I remembered it at all. I remembered loving Greg and Amber together, and thinking Greg was a great hero. Maybe my jaded self is being judgemental, but honestly why would anyone want to date a guy like Greg? Amber and Greg have been friends for years, and end up giving a relationship a go after Greg makes a move, and let’s Amber know he ha feelings for her for a while. Now Greg is a big ladies man. And he spreads himself about no doubt. Now I have nothing gains single people having their fun, but Greg was another level. My views may be harsh, and I completely respect the fact people may not agree, but I have issues with people who sleep with married or taken people. Sure, it is up to the committed individual to deep to their partner, but I think it says a lot about a person who will happily hop on someone knowingly in a committed relationship. That is not a fella I would respect or want. Greg gets with more than one woman who is taken and that is a problem, because am o going to believe you will respect your own relationship if you do not give a toss about anyone else’s? No! I also, personally do not want to cornstantly bump into my partners crazy and obsessive conquests. Especially when they are coming onto him in front of me. Do not get me wrong Amber was not perfect, she had high walls and kept secrets. but Greg was a joke. When the big secret was revealed, that Greg had fucked Jen, his roommate partner, it was horrid. Do not get me wrong I understand Amber and Greg were not together, I understand Jen was manipulative and basically used Greg’s drunken state and sadness against him, I also know Matt the roommate is a cheating scammer. However, this was ducked up and the fact he kept it secret said a lot. I also lost an respect for him when he got angry that basically Amber wouldn’t get over it and forgive him for it when he wanted her too. I also, thought he was an ass for going to her parents wedding and flirting with another woman I front of her. I was glad for once the heroine was not a celibate martyr, as during the break up amber had fun with a guy she fancied. I did honestly think Amber and Greg has great chemistry and we’re good together, however too much damage was done in my opinion. Greg fucked up and should have been making amends and working to get Amber back. But is read there is no contact between the two for months, but he says basically he missed her the whole time, and that when he heard she was planning to move he was going to follow her? What? How about move your arse and fight for her before she goes? Also, the coercion of being friends with Matt and Jen again was messed up. Jen and Matt are toxic, and Amber and Greg are old enough to realise you outgrow some friends, you do not invite them back in to mess with your happy home.

Quando lemos diversos livros do mesmo escritor ficámos com certo medo de que o próximo que decidirmos ler não seja tão com quanto os anteriores, ou temos demasiadas expectativas e acabamos desiludidos por completo. Senti assim quando li uns capítulos deste livro. Ao ínicio foi complicado para mim conseguir compreender as personagens, e conseguir gostar da história. Achei mesmo que seria o fim da minha relação com Dorothy Koomson.
O livro conta-nos uma história muito bonita, e diferente. Parabéns Dorothy Koomson por conseguires deixar sempre os teus leitores com o coração nas mãos.
Amber, ao ínicio parece-nos apenas uma maluca, assim como os seus amigos. Mas podemos ver que ao longo do livro a personagem passa por uma enorme transformação, e percorremos juntamente um longo caminho que leva-a a descobrir quem realmente é e quer ser. Amei simplesmente o crescimento e desenvolvimento da personagem. Não me lembro de ter gostando assim tanto de uma personagem desde que li "Os Aromas do Amor".
Greg, pronto quem ler o livro vai entender o porquê deste personagem ser tão cliché. É o típico mulherengo, com uma história e motivo para ser assim, e que acaba por apaixonar-se pela melhor amiga Amber. Mais cliché que isto não há. Mas, a escritora tem mesmo um talento incrível e consegue fazer os leitores esquecer o cliché e ficar apaixonados pelo relacionamento de Amber e Greg.
Andam sempre nas turras, assim como também andam sempre enrolados na cama. Nota-se como eles gostam um do outro, mas conseguimos ver que ambos não estão preparados para tal passo na vida dele. E de cada vez que ele discutem ficámos com o coração nas mãos e a sentir a dor de ambos. Como é possível gostar tanto de um casal fictício? Não sei, mas apaixonei-me completamente tanto por Greg, tanto por Amber.
O motivo porque não dei 5 estrelas ao livro foi pura e simplesmente porque houveram imensas partes em que pensei "Isto apenas foi assim porque é ficção", e também porque achei complicado conseguir lidar com as mudanças de humor das personagens. Numa hora estão aos pulos de felicidade, e no momento seguinte estão a atirar canecas para as paredes.
É um bom livro, aconselho imenso. Para quem já leu Dorothy Koomson pode não gostar assim tanto como gostou dos outros, mas claro que isso depende de cada um. Como digo muitas vezes, que venham mais livros de Dorothy Koomson que eu irei os ler todos e pedir sempre por mais.
O livro conta-nos uma história muito bonita, e diferente. Parabéns Dorothy Koomson por conseguires deixar sempre os teus leitores com o coração nas mãos.
Amber, ao ínicio parece-nos apenas uma maluca, assim como os seus amigos. Mas podemos ver que ao longo do livro a personagem passa por uma enorme transformação, e percorremos juntamente um longo caminho que leva-a a descobrir quem realmente é e quer ser. Amei simplesmente o crescimento e desenvolvimento da personagem. Não me lembro de ter gostando assim tanto de uma personagem desde que li "Os Aromas do Amor".
Greg, pronto quem ler o livro vai entender o porquê deste personagem ser tão cliché. É o típico mulherengo, com uma história e motivo para ser assim, e que acaba por apaixonar-se pela melhor amiga Amber. Mais cliché que isto não há. Mas, a escritora tem mesmo um talento incrível e consegue fazer os leitores esquecer o cliché e ficar apaixonados pelo relacionamento de Amber e Greg.
Andam sempre nas turras, assim como também andam sempre enrolados na cama. Nota-se como eles gostam um do outro, mas conseguimos ver que ambos não estão preparados para tal passo na vida dele. E de cada vez que ele discutem ficámos com o coração nas mãos e a sentir a dor de ambos. Como é possível gostar tanto de um casal fictício? Não sei, mas apaixonei-me completamente tanto por Greg, tanto por Amber.
O motivo porque não dei 5 estrelas ao livro foi pura e simplesmente porque houveram imensas partes em que pensei "Isto apenas foi assim porque é ficção", e também porque achei complicado conseguir lidar com as mudanças de humor das personagens. Numa hora estão aos pulos de felicidade, e no momento seguinte estão a atirar canecas para as paredes.

So far this is my least favorite Dorothy Koomson book.
I was very disappointed after ordering (3) of Dorothy's books from UK which are not available in the US, including " The Chocolate Run", "Ice Cream Girls" and "The Cupid Effect". I chose "The Chocolate Run" to read first and it did not set a good tone.
I found the book to be very slow and I did not feel connection to main female character, Amber Salphone as normally feel with Dorothy's novels. Also, I felt her romantic interest and friend Greg Walterson moral character and selfishness left something to be desired even when he was "being good".
Last thoughts -Although this is something I noticed in all Dorothy's previous books that I've read I'm starting to be be a little concerned by all the main female characters who are always Black (African or Caribean descent British National) but their romantic love interest are always White European/British. Don't get me wrong I don't have an issue with interracial dating/marriage etc. I enjoy reading books where the main character looks more like I do ( and it's not one of those Urban Drug Dealer on the corner impregnates 15 year old girl living the hood rich life novels that are so prevalent in the African American section of the book store) but would be nice to see main female character with a black man every once in a while as its rare to see young successful black couple in fiction. I know there has to be some black couples in the UK they can't all be interracial.

I'm already hooked from page one. The writing is amazing, every moments fall neatly, the storyline flows smoothly. Though the author liked to insert past thoughts during the present (I'm not really fond of this), I think I'm gonna let it slide.
I really love the main character, Amber Salpone. I think she's amazing and I can't help but liking every moment of her. I just can't get enough of her and Greg. Somehow I felt like there's a part of me in her. I understand what she feels, I understand why she do what she did. The author wrote every character full with flaws and that's made them more relatable and real. There's character that I really love and really hate.
It's definitely the book that I've been looking for. Just a light reading, one that can make me smile and giggles. One that made think about myself. One that made me craved for chocolates.

I admit I read the ending first.
After my last Dorothy Koomson book Goodnight, Beautiful, I really wanted to read more work by the author but I did not think I could handle another emotional ringer like that book was. So I deliberately looked to find something that was much lighter. With this book I can see why she is classified as a chick-lit writer because this is pure chick-lit.
Amber has been best friend with Jen for just about ever. So when Jen invites Amber to meet the new man in her life Amber goes for dinner determined to like this guy. Jen's new guy Matt brings along his best friend Greg as well, wanting him to get to know Jen. When Amber first sees Greg she is struck by 1)how incredibly beautiful is and 2)how much he knows it. Although Amber doesn't take to Matt very well, she and Greg strike up a great friendship. It is an immediate friendship that deepens as if it has been going on for years. It is the type of friendship where one would call the other to bail them out of jail -- a very funny bit in the story that had me smiling out loud.
The two manage to tumble into bed together. This is frought with problems as Amber has serious issues with commitment -- she thinks everyone will leave eventually. And Greg is a slut. He is good-natured, fun and beautiful and a sex magnet. But Greg is determined to change his ways for Amber. She desperately wants him but doesn't trust him. Is she right? Will he revert back to his old ways? Can she believe all the things, all the right things, he's telling her.
I got a real kick out of this book. I think I loved the fact that Greg was so completely flawed. He could have easily come off as a jerk but somehow the author managed to make him charming. Amber has major issues and I think she sabotaged her relationship a bit with him. I totally got why she had trust problems with him in particular but it will turn into almost a self fulfilling prophecy to constantly ask your boyfriend when he's going to cheat on you. I do have to give the writer credit though that even given Greg's colorful past i never felt that he would betray Amber. It was just the vibe and the way he was written.
Friendship is a major theme in this book. Jen and Amber's friendship is a central aspect and plays a huge part in the unfolding of Amber's relationship with Greg. But there is also Greg and Matt's friendship as well as Amber and Greg's friendship. These four are all negotiating a maze of interconnectedness that both reveals and conceals. The comfort and necessity of friendship is explored as well as the darker aspects of the bond -- how far people will go to keep secrets and how too much dependency can be destructive.
All in all a very good read. I am not a chick lit person, per se but I do enjoy this writer.

More of a 2.5 I would say....but then, I believe this is the first 3 the author is getting from me...and maybe because this is one of her earlier works...works from the time she wasn't the serious women writer but venturing in fun chick-lit area...and no, this ain't a bad book...it just is something I don't expect from Koomson...
I love chocolates, and hence few analogies here were definitely smile-worthy...there has been a time in life when I used to blog and hence I love the whole (in bracket) story that gets more content worthy than the actual out of bracket tale...
But then this book is kind of shallow...the one on lighter tone...the one where you can be a casanova and boom fall in love suddenly, change yourself totally....where you can support your friend even in the worst act and be a cover up...where you can break up with someone be celebate for months and then fall in love, do forget it that easily...
I have way too many of my own personal complicated issues with this one...the story was good...the chocolate in between, till it went overboard, was nice...but then this per me wasn't the best representation of the plot it carried...
Oh, I am scared to read your Marshmallows and Cupid Koomson....I so am waiting for you to pen a new one!

I found this book in the book shop where I work (yes it is quite dangerous to work in a book shop if you like to read).
Amber Salpone is about 30, and she loves films and chocolate. Her best friend Jen is together with Matt, and it was through them she met gorgeous Greg, a player (and a best friend, since three years back) who she constantly has to save from various situations involving women and sex.
But wait! Now Amber's done it too; our story starts the morning after, with her fretting about whether this will ruin their friendship or not.
But it seems as if Greg's intentions are honorable and they start a relationship, without telling Jen and Matt .

Este é o segundo livro que li da autora, e devo dizer que a autora corre grandes riscos de ganhar mais uma fã! XD
A capa é maravilhosa! Dorothy Koomson escreve best-sellers, com inúmeros fãs pelo mundo inteiro, só seria de esperar que este fosse mais um fantástico livro, apesar de não ser o meu preferido dos dois.
Amber Salpone ultrapassou a idade dos trinta, é a melhor amiga de Jen e quando esta começa a namorar Matt, conhece o melhor amigo dele, Greg um mulherengo incorrigível. Mas como ela já se decidiu pelo celibato, torna-se também amiga dele, ajudando-o a safar-se das embrulhadas onde se metia por causa das mulheres quando ele só queria sexo, sem compromissos!
O romance começa quando após uma noite de copos os dois se envolvem madrugada fora no maior prazer sexual que já tiveram na vida. Ela é pouco experiente e ele mestre no assunto, mas interessado num namoro, coisa séria! A partir daí ela fica permanentemente ciumenta e desconfiada, ele tenta provar-lhe que mudou, deixam toda a gente fora dessa históra, para o caso de correr mal, incluido os melhores amigos de ambos, pois não têm esperança que a coisa dure muito tempo. Contudo a situação mantém-se.
Aconteceu tudo muito depressa e como eu calculei a autora tinha que arranjar amuos, zangas e afins para que a história durasse até ao final do livro, e é exactamente um segredo do passado que altera as coisas... Acham que contei demais? Peço desculpa, mas não contei o segredo :P ou segredos? :P eles ficam juntos? :P Não digo mais nada :) Leiam o livro
Mais um livro que nos transmite uma certa lição de vida... que nos faz relembrar em como o amor é bom, muito bom, e como por vezes temos a felicidade á porta e não a vemos :X

Como grande fã de Dorothy Koomson começo a sentir saudades dos livros dela mais ao género de A Filha da Minha Melhor Amiga ou Bons Sonhos, Meu Amor.
Amor e Chocolate não é um drama, mas sim um romance com algum humor misturado, tendo algumas semelhanças com o último livro publicado em Portugal da autora. Confesso que que apesar de gostar não chega perto da minha opinião a cerca dos primeiros que referi.
Dorothy tem um dom para as histórias com emoções mais fortes, com personagens mais sofridas e com presentes e passados feridos. Nesta obra também encontramos isso, mas em muito menor quantidade e evidencia. Penso que a autora gosta de se manter fiel à sua personalidade alegre e humorística e por isso investe mais em livros como O Amor Está no Ar ou este.
De qualquer forma, adorei conhecer e identificar-me com Amber Salpone. Adorei assistir e acompanhar as duas dúvidas e opções. Adorei as lições de vida e, principalmente, o final do livro.
Confesso que não simpatizo muito com os títulos dos capítulos e com a obsessão da personagem com o chocolate, mas estas características acabam por tornar esta obra diferente e correspondentes ao que já conhecemos de Dorothy.
A escrita é atraente, cheia de vida e acção, com personagens com as mais variadas personalidades, vidas e passados, cujo destino se vai entrelaçando, descobrindo-se assim muitos pontos em comum e muitas revelações que nos deixaram de boca aberta.

Conhecida pelos seus dramas, desta vez Koomson deixou de lado o sofrimento das doenças ou de perdas importantes, e apresenta-nos um romance bem "docinho" com muito chocolate :)
Uma leitura leve, ótima para um dia de praia, no verão, ou uma tarde no sofá com um aquecedor e uma bebida quente, no inverno... Aconselho!

I read this book yesterday in 1 day. I was sick (again) so lying on my bed I decided to pick this book. It did take me a little bit to get into it, but not too long. Once I got into it I thought this was a refreshing read. not all the cliches. Yes an enjoyable read.

Много ми хареса книжката. ♥️ Мисля, че ми е първа на авторката и определено ще прочета още от нея.
Мацката е много забавна и дори се припознах в нея. Доста пъти. Явно мога да бъда голям идиот на моменти. 😁
Страх ме е да пиша ревюта (защото не знам как да го правя без спойлери), за това ще си пиша тук коментара (най-обикновен, без капка спойлер), докато не се отегча. Амбър ни въвежда надълго и нашироко през всичките си (луди) мисли, като същевременно се връща да разкаже за дадена случка (през пет други), за да ни обясни как и защо мисли нещо в дадената ситуация. (Аз съм същата, горко им на близки и приятели 😁). С тези си нейни размисли, тя нагазва до колене, защо��о се опитва да живее в бъдещето. Там където тя отново е зарязана нелепо и отново ще й натрисат най-грозните мъже за уредени срещи.
Какво ще се случи с Амбър и нейните приятели? Ще трябва ли души шоколади в магазините, за да не мисли за злочестите си връзки или ще намери истинската любов?
(Винаги съм се смяла на подобни въпроси 😂)

I am a big fan of Dorothy Koomson, and her writing so maybe because I went in with high expectations I was let down a lot! Toooo clichê for me.

I've read books written by this author. My Best Friend's Girl broke my heart. I cried reading it. Koomson can tug your heart with her words.
The story starts with Amber, a next door girl who may be seen here & now, she's a regular just like us, not the polished type, who slept with her friend, Grey, the womaniser. As much as Amber knew it's a mistake, and being a sensible, non-nonsense level headed woman at the brink of 30, she knew that the relationship which had became too close won't lead to anywhere, she's not the dreamy type who wished happy ending.
Amber came from a broken family, her parents divorced when she was a child. She's maturing faster compared to her peers. She stepped her foot down when she's supposed to. When she was studying for her degree, she met Jen, her best friend, they shared a common bond - broken family. They grew close to each other, and then Jen met Matt, who has a best friend called Greg.
Amber and Greg became friends throughout the years, in fact Amber is always there assisting Greg who's a womaniser and shag every woman he ever met, and unfortunately, in the end, Amber slept with him.
Complications then start, particularly when Amber with her no-nonsense mind knew that Greg is a womaniser and won't commit, while Greg trying to prove his best to Amber despite his reputation. Amber, feeling insecure, fat, not as lovely as Jen, who suddenly has Greg, a handsome, good looking man as his boyfriend.
There were light hearted moments, where Greg was trying too hard to impress Amber's family, or the fact that Eric (her half brother) is the one talking sense to Amber. Or some poignant ones, where they shared their deepest secrets (Amber & Greg), or Greg telling fairy tales to Amber to comfort her. Even heart breaking moments, which is unforgettable, about Jen, & Matt, and even Greg who seemed out of order when Amber left him.
This book teach about forgiveness, sometimes the best thing you may do despite of everything, is to forgive someone. Forget is another thing, but forgiving and learning to let go, is one powerful thing.

Amber, feeling insecure, fat, not as lovely as Jen, who suddenly has Greg, a handsome, good looking man as his boyfriend.
There were light hearted moments, where Greg was trying too hard to impress Amber's family, or the fact that Eric (her half brother) is the one talking sense to Amber. Or some poignant ones, where they shared their deepest secrets (Amber & Greg), or Greg telling fairy tales to Amber to comfort her. Even heart breaking moments, which is unforgettable, about Jen, & Matt, and even Greg who seemed out of order when Amber left him.
This book teach about forgiveness, sometimes the best thing you may do despite of everything, is to forgive someone. Forget is another thing, but forgiving and learning to let go, is one powerful thing.

От последните две книги на Космополитан, които прочетох - "Огледалце,огледалце..." от Нел Диксън (ревю тук) и "Ако върнеш времето назад" от Александра Потър (ревю тук), "Шоколадово бягство" ми е любимата!
Дороти Кумсън не изпъква с никакви чак толкова специални техники на писане, сюжета и героите бяха тези, които ме накараха да се влюбя в историята. Чертата на главната ни героиня, да определя всеки човек като вид шоколад, е очарователна! А страха й към всякакъв тип насилие, породил се след като малка е ставала свидетел на много сериозни кавги между родителите си - истински. Историята е написана с чувство и се усеща. А крехката любов, породила се между двама наистина близки приятели и приятелството е центъра, около който се върти всичко.
Амбър и Герг се познават от три години и тя винаги е била на среща, когато той се е забърквал в сериозни каши, всички свързани с жени. Повечето използват срещу него обидни думи, когато го описват, и независимо, че на Амбър и е известно, че са прави да го наричат така, тя също така разбира и много повече. Като добри приятели те вече са научили всичко един за друг. Е, почти всичко... Тя не предполага, че Грег е бил влюбен в нея през цялото това време. Докато една страстна нощ между двамата не обърква и изяснява всичко.
След тази нощ те започват връзка, която обаче крият от двамата си най-добри приятели, защото не знаят колко дълго ще продължи тя. Амбър крие от приятелката си Джен, което усложнява нещата помежду им. А Грег изглежда е осведомен и за някои, доста сложни за обяснение неща, свързани с приятеля му Мат, който е също така е и гадже на Джен.
В последните страници на "Шоколадово бягство", когато отношенията между Джен, Мат, Амбър и Грег са се почти разпаднали, всичко бива разкрито - тайната на Мат, причината за коренната промяна на Джен и действителните чувства на Грег.
Тук, където истинските приятели, ��е оказват не това, което сме очаквали и тайните са далеч по странни от това, което сме си представяли. Тук, където всичко е като в реалния живот. Тук, където шоколадът е най-сигурното бягство.

THE CHOCOLATE RUN is an enjoyable friends to lovers story. All of the characters in this one are reluctant adults who are struggling to define how they will love and live their lives. Amber is the center of the entire story and all of the characters are connected through her. After surviving her parents marriage that was fraught with abuse, their subsequent divorce, and the blending of new families almost immediately after the divorce Amber has developed some interesting coping mechanisms as well as some serious barriers to protect herself from further emotional harm. Amber views everyone through her love of chocolate and categorizes their personalities according to the qualities of various chocolates. Amber also uses humor, whether appropriate or not, to diffuse tense situations and as a means of avoiding uncomfortable conversations. Because of Amber's experiences as a young girl, she has learned not to fully share her emotions, thoughts, or heart with anyone because it has always lead to pain or disappointment.
Three years of friendship with her close friend and known "tosser" Greg leads down an unexpected road for Amber and true to form she doesn't deal with the changes well. Greg is admittedly free and loose with his temporary affections but he is now making a move to get what he truly wants; but Amber is running scared of the changes. Amber learns that growing up sometimes means growing out of the relationships that she found comfortable. Taking risks, standing up for herself, going for what she wants in spite of being afraid is a huge step that Amber isn't sure she wants to take. Amber isn't dragged kicking and screaming into adulthood and more mature relationships; instead she goes twitching and whimpering which was for me a much sadder reaction.
THE CHOCOLATE RUN is women's fiction done well. Love, betrayal, emotional growth, as well as changing relationships with family, friends, and lovers can all be found in this one. I'm so glad that I discovered Koomson and will be adding more of her books to my TBR pile.
