description

Seek is different than any other book Mia Sheridan has written. It’s fast paced, suspenseful, and full of steam. It didn’t quite have the same emotionally charged feeling as most of her books have for me, but that prologue gutted me.

Olivia Barton’s fiancé has disappeared. Either that, or he’s run off. She’s not sure, but she needs to know for sure one way or another. She’s hired a private investigator that has tracked him all the way to Columbia. She just needs someone to take her there. That’s where Thomas comes in.

Thomas is the perfect guy to take Olivia, seeing as he grew up in Columbia. He has a reason to be there, so it works out in his benefit as well. Thomas is very much a mystery at the start of the book. He’s elusive and you can tell he’s the type of person that doesn’t let many people in. He has his reasons for that.
You let people see what you intended them to see and nothing more.

Olivia is a good person with a big heart. She fights for those she cares about and tries to see the best in everyone. Thomas seems much more tough, but inside, he has some of those same qualities. He is a good person that shows time and time again he tries to do the right thing.

What I really liked about Seek were the unpredictable elements of the story. There were a lot of things, especially towards the end, I didn’t see coming. Thomas and Olivia were thrown together in a lot of hard spots, and it seemed to only bring them closer together. When they finally came together, it was much more steamy than I was expecting.
“Don’t hold back with me, Thomas. Whatever you were going to give them… give me more. I want it. I want you. All of you.”

Suspenseful, full of action, twists, turns, and sexy times, Seek was a highly entertaining read. It was a little on the short side, but overall I enjoyed it. And that little cameo at the end- amazing! I would recommend this book to fans of Mia Sheridan as well as those that enjoy romantic suspense.

Something different from Mia Sheridan?

I like it.

I’m quite adventurous by nature so it's no surprise I love suspenseful books with an exotic (to me) setting.

Not to mention that romantic suspense has been my 'drug of choice' lately.

Plus, mysterious, dangerous, passionate, badass mercenaries…

Yum.

Overall, this was a very atmospheric, absorbing and hot read. A bit on the short side, but okay. It didn’t bother me too much. Better fast-paced and short-ish than long, slow and boring…

And bonus, the heroine isn't too stupid to live. Just a tiny, tiny bit.

The only thing it lacked was… epicness?

That doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy it, though. I did. Very much. It’s just that I always expect EPIC from Mia Sheridan. What can I say, she spoiled me.

That truth had finally made itself fully known last night as I’d given myself wholly and completely to another man—not just my body, but my heart, shared myself in a way I’d never shared myself before. A man who lived anywhere and everywhere, a man who wasn’t available to me, but a man I was in love with all the same.

SEEK is a fast paced, action packed and steamy romance. Olivia Barton is on a mission to find her fiancé who has been missing for nearly six months. There have been rumors that he’s hiding out in Colombia. Looking for answers and possibly closure, Olivia enlists the help of Thomas, a mercenary for hire and ex-Navy Seal, to be her guide and protector through the treacherous Columbian terrain.

They will face several dangerous criminals while on their journey and many times it seemed as though Olivia’s plan to find her fiancé was going to end up being a huge mistake. Somewhere along the way, the two end up having a passionate affair, but how can it lead to anything more when Olivia’s main reason for being in Columbia is to find her fiancé?

A bombshell is dropped and it wasn’t anything that I came close to predicting. For those of you who are die-hard fans of Mia Sheridan, she gives us a little treat in this story. We are reunited with one of her most beloved Heroes from one of her previous books!!

Here are my overall ratings on the book:

Heroes: 4.5
Heroine: 4
Plot: 4
Angst: 4
Steam: 4
Chemistry Between Hero & Heroine: 4

”He’s right, you know,” I whispered. “You’re gonna have to toughen up. Fight or die, that’s how it works around here.”

Have! Mercy! Only three pages in, and you know you are going to be in for one emotional ride. This is Mia Sheridan, so duh!!

... the story of my life. Stood up, jilted, thrown away, left behind.

Olivia is engaged to be married, but two months ago her fiancé just disappeared. A private investigator tracks him to the country of Columbia, where danger lurks. She doesn’t know if he needs help or is in hiding. She needs answers. Did she get left behind once again?

Enter a gray eyed and distinctly handsome man named Thomas. A man Olivia hires to escort her to Columbia. A man she knows nothing about. A man whose body looks like a lethal weapon. A man who sends chills down her spine.

Yes indeedy, and hubba-hubba!! Just take a peek, or two, at the cover ;)

” ... Just pack light — a backpack and the smallest sleeping bag you can find. And be ready.”

Oh yes! Be ready for a storyline that is a bit more gritty, and a bit more steamy than Mia’s prior books. Be ready for a fantastic, action packed page turner!!

SEEK: is a STANDALONE contemporary novel by Mia Sheridan. Spoken in ‘Dual Perspectives’

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

What was assumed to be a business trip her fiance was partaking for a week had him not arriving home on the designated day he'd informed Olivia he'd be home, after ringing his cell phone and getting no reply a few days later sick with worry she hires a private investigator.

And what he comes back to her with causes her some concern because he's not where he said he'd be he's on another continent, a country which has been ravaged by an earthquake followed by a deadly tsunami, infrastructure was down everywhere closing down towns from the outside world with no communication coming in or going out.

The investigator had put word out about her needing to get to her fiance and is put onto a Desperate a navy seal who is the best of the best at what he does, though this isn't a job he'd normally take on but he agrees to be her tour guide since he's got a job in that area, they will be crossing into dangerous territory to seek answers from her missing fiancé.

The man she'd hired to help her was like no man she'd ever encountered before

He was dangerous, obviously used to the shadows, when I lived in the light

If I didn’t know who the author was there’s no way I would’ve picked that it was Mia Sheridan, it’s definitely out of the box for her, which is what made it even more of a unique read.

I was really loving this, the suspenseful plot as they were trekking through dangerous territory kept me completely focused on the storyline with an edge of trepidation and nothing else, but then when she arrives at her destination it kind of went off on a tangent, a jumbled mess that didn't really fit in with the story, I wish she had of veered down another path instead of the one we were led down. So the first half I loved, the middle I disliked, and the ending I was reeled right back in again. For this I give it 4 stars.

"Have you ever been in love?"
"Me?"
"Yeah, you. I'm assuming you have a heart under all that...muscle mass?"
"Love makes you weak."

Tomas is 'un salvador', a saviour, BUT he is also an opportunist.
Livvy is 'sunshine', warm and bright, BUT she is also a tough cookie.

They will meet, when Livvy decides to visit the ruined, most dangerous part of Colombia in order to find out what happened to her missing fiance. Tomas will be her guide.

Together they will live a clean adventure. They will walk the most unsafe trails, avoid drug dealers, run from murderers, avenge ravaged girls, visit devastated villages and pretend to be husband and wife.

Tomas will soften and let himself be loved.
Livvy will toughen up and give herself a night to remember.

"Oh, God, Livvy. I can't wait much longer. I've already waited too fucking long."
"Then don't."

Until Livvy is led to her final destination and she finds out:
-what happened to her fiance
-what is fake and what is real
-who is fake and who tells the truth

Another book that I absolutely loved by Mia Sheridan! It has the right and balanced amount of adventure and romance and enough twists to make your head spin.

Overall Opinion: I'm a little confused about this one tbh. I didn't get the feelings I normally get when reading a Mia Sheridan book. I connected with the characters and I did feel their connection to each other, but it all felt a little too rushed and not as deep as her books usually feel. I was completely disappointed in the abrupt ending in that we really don't get any time to experience them as an actual couple! The cameo of the character from one of my favorites of hers Stinger was fun, but also way too brief. I knew this was going to be a little different for her by just reading the blurb, but I'm just not sure I'm a fan of this change. BUT -- I'll still keep her on my list of authors to look out for, because I usually do usually enjoy her works.

Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Olivia and Thomas's story. They meet when Olivia was given Thomas's name to help her navigate Columbia to follow a lead on finding her lost fiancé. The more time they spend together, the more they feel the pull towards one another and they bond over their damaged pasts. There are some suspenseful moments, some sexy times, some big reveals...and they get a HEA ending.

POV: This alternated between Olivia and Thomas's POV.

Overall Pace of Story: A little rushed feeling throughout. I never skimmed though.

Instalove: Kind of. Feelings develop pretty quick in the grand scheme of things, but their extreme circumstances made it believable.

H rating: 3 stars. Thomas. He was okay. I wanted him to be more upfront with the h!

h rating: 3.5 stars. Olivia. She was alright. I wanted her to demand better treatment for herself at times.

Sadness level: Low, no tissues needed

Push/Pull: Yes

Heat level: Hot. They have some hot tension, chemistry, and scenes -- but not so much it takes away from the story.

Descriptive sex: Yes

OW/OM drama: Yes

Sex scene with OW or OM: No, but close

Cheating: Not IMO, but I can see where some might think it is

Separation:Yes

Possible Triggers: Yes

Closure: This had a really abrupt ending with an okay epilogue and closure. I would reluctantly call this a HEA , but I didn't like the amount of time we get with them as a couple.

Safety: This one should is probably Safe with exception or Not Safe for most safety gang readers depending on personal preferences.

Genre: Romantic Suspense
Type: Standalone
POV: First Person - Dual
Rating:

Olivia (Livvy) Barton thought she found her happily ever after with her fiancee. When he disappeared while on a routine work trip, she was left heartbroken but not without hope. She found out he was stranded in a country ravaged by natural disaster and hired a guide to bring him back.

Thomas was a freelance mercenary. His latest job took him on an adventure he naturally craved. He never thought it could happen but his client made him crave something else. However, it might not be a price he's willing to pay.

The author said this book is different than her previous works. It certainly is and I enjoyed the different feel.

He was dangerous, obviously used to the shadows, when I lived in the light. Or at least I had . . . until now.

Thomas had a mysterious and slightly dangerous vibe. He took his job seriously and while he was ruthless when needed, he could also be calming and protective.

Despite my words to the contrary, I knew him. I knew this man. Didn't I?

Libby was the complete opposite of Thomas. She was gentle and compassionate. But while she's soft, she also had steely heart in pursuing her goals.

The story was interesting and I especially enjoyed experiencing the locations. I like the situation the characters were in and they had a good push and pull. It had a good level of intrigue and suspense, but the revelation wasn't unexpected for me.

I'd protect her body—she was responsible for her heart.

Seek is a story of finding courage in doing what's best. It would appeal to fans of light romantic suspense.

➳A story filled with adventure, thrill, seeking for answers, and finding yourself in a situation that was destined to identify and change your life completely...

➳When trying to find the truth behind a scheme that has been taking place for the a while, Olivia extracts for help in a way that I have found unique in the writing world of romance. Mia Sheridan never seems to disappoint, even with a short novel such as this one, I found my attraction to every single page one that I seek for acceptance and crave it as well.

➳I am making this review short because it being a short novel, it still deserves justice to its writing. I loved the story plot. Very unique in a way that you don't constantly have to be rolling your eyes and finding certain things cliche in a way. The twists and turns that make both characters, Brody and Olivia come to a state of conflict is what makes this story one to look forward to and enjoy reading. Yes, the attraction fo both characters I present, but what truly draws them together is their emotional chemistry and connection that they both have towards the aspect of loveliness and suffering a childhood that has determined and identified their present as adults.

➳Overall, this romance... this story... this marvelous piece of writing has seared its way into my heart. Finding love in an adventure and thrilling environment has never been so tempting, before Mia Sheridan introduces it in this novel...

"Leave the moves to me, sweetheart."

If you love action, suspense, intrigue, mystery and sexy romance, then this is definitely the book for you! This author's unique style makes everything seem fresh. Mercenary Thomas is awesomely written, he is an alpha male but, he is often written to show the redeeming qualities behind his tough demeanor. Olivia is also a well developed character. She is strong, loyal, independent but a bit naïve and always with good intentions.

The author did a brilliant job in writing a plot that was gripping and captivating. There was a surprising twist to why Olivia’s fiancé had disappeared; I was very surprised about his conspiracies. The story was engaging, and I was wrapped up trying to solve it along side the characters.

Suspense and chemistry abound throughout this novel. Mia Sheridan grabbed my attention and held it throughout. I could barely put this one down!

In short:
Hero 5/5 | Heroine 5/5 | Plot (Point, Originality) 5/5 | Writing Style 4/5 | Steam 3/5 | Romance 4/5 | Angst-Suspense 5/5 | Darkness 0/5 | Humor 0/5 | Secondary Characters 4/5 | Drama-Conflict 4/5 | Mystery 3/5 | Twists 4/5 | Pace Steady | Action 4/5

I haven't read a Mia Sheridan book in quite some time, and after I heard the premise for Seek I was excited to get to read something from her a little on the grittier side.

While this book isn’t that long and the story is fast paced, to me it just felt like an even quicker read because it was told in a way that was very surface level and lacked any real detail or emotional depth. The plot was already a little far-stretched, but because of the rushed way in which this is told, it just made the overall story and the connection between the two MCs not very believable.

Thomas felt flat and I didn't really feel anything toward him. Livvy was sweet but very naive and some of their dialogue was so stiff and at times cheesy.

Was it terrible? No. But it just felt like something I’ve read plenty of times before and to be totally honest I’m a little surprised this author wrote this.

Not something I’d go out of my way to recommend, but not totally terrible either.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I didn't expected something like that when I start reading it, yet it was a great story! It was different from Mia's other books!Seek was packed with action, suspense, twists and a great romance.

It was fast paced and the writing was beautiful, I was intrigued from the first chapter.I loved Olivia and Thomas, they create a great bond between them and even though I enjoyed them I can't say I felt the sparkle like I was feeling in Mia's other books.

Overall, it was a great story! If you are looking for a romance with suspense you should definitely read this one!

This was just an ok read for me. For some reason I couldn’t connect to the hero and heroine, and because of that this will turn into a book that a year down the road I won’t remember it. I loved the idea of them being in Columbia and having to navigate through it after an earthquake and a tsunami!!! The thing was that what I thought would turn out as a major adventure, kind of fell flat to me. I know lots of readers love this one, so maybe it’s just me!!!

Definitely not one that I felt passionate about!!!

OMG! I did not want this book to end! A story of love and betrayal that kept me on the edge of my seat.

A wealthy socialite Livvy embarks on a dangerous journey through the tsunami wrecked regions of Colombia in a quest to seek out her fiancé that has gone missing. The question is does he want to be found? Despite her doubts, Olivia is loyal to a fault and risks her safety to try and find him.

Enter Thomas, an ex-Navy Seal who she hires as her guide. I SWOONED hard for this broken, sexy tortured man. They encounter danger at several points and Thomas was a FIERCE protector. He was highly skilled and obviously well trained to defend both of them. However what intrigued me was his selflessness. Throughout the book you will see him risk his own safety to defend others.
"You dream like I do. Only... you're more selfless than I am, Thomas. You dream for others. You were once scared, alone... So you rescue those who still are."

The attraction between Liv and Thomas was intense and the build up was so sweet. I know what you're thinking. She has a fiancé. What is she doing? Well I can't give the story away but I promise it's OK!! I could not get enough of this couple. Gah! The chemistry was insanely hot!

This story ends just as exciting as it starts. There were quite a few WTH moments that just blew me away. We also get a cameo from Carson Stinger 💕 from Stinger. The epilogue was just perfection and my heart was left overflowing with emotion. This one is a must read people!

There is nothing like the excited feeling I get when I open a new book from Mia Sheridan. The anticipation of the way she will shape the words, weaving them into a story in her unique way that I have come to recognize as Mia opening her soul to her readers. I feel like she gives so much in her writing and it feels like a reflection of her own experience of being in love.

Having said all that, this story is not like anything I have read from Mia before. In fact, it's a really thrilling, danger filled story that had me turning pages as fast as I possibly could!

Olivia is in need of a private investigator after her fiance Eric left her not long before they were to be married. He has been gone for two months now and she needs answers. She knows she may not like what she discovers but to get closure she needs to see him face to face. In Columbia.

Ex Navy SEAL Thomas is at her service, he knows where to find Eric and will guide her through jungles, villages and a country in recovery from earthquakes and a tsunami. There are a lot of dangerous people who make up part of the under belly of Columbia so having Thomas by her side is the best way to get to and find Eric.

'He was a type of man I'd never come into contact with before, had no reason to. Until now. He was dangerous, obviously used to the shadows, when I lived in the light.'

This five day journey takes them to places and situations that will test Olivia's moral compass and show her that not everything in life is black and white. There is a lot of grey too and it's not a bad colour. Thomas is pretty much a closed book but he occasionally lets the pages flutter open for Olivia to read. She is the opposite, which in turn makes her very trusting and vulnerable, the kind of person that people make their prey.

Will Olivia find the answers that she seeks or will the truth make her feel more lost than found?
This is a story fraught with danger, but there are so many fragments of hope and beauty forging their way through, because nothing is stronger than love. I absolutely loved this!

-Life was a constant reminder that only the strong survived.

 photo IMG_4757_zps5g7t4gxt.jpg

Olivia Barton is a beautiful, elegant woman living in Las Vegas. She was adopted as a child by a wealthy family, & has led a somewhat privileged life. She’s engaged to be married, and thinks she’s about to have everything she’s ever wanted. Then her fiancé Alec disappears, and she begins to question how well she actually knew him. She fears he had secrets, but she needed some answers, or she’d always wonder. Committed to fighting for him, or at least getting closure, Livvy decides she will head to the last place her PI tracked him to, a small oceanside town called Palomino, that’s on the Caribbean Coast in Columbia.

Livvy hires a former Navy SEAL named Thomas who is a mercenary/ soldier for hire, who mostly does contract work for the government. His job is to safely get her to Palomino, & help her locate her missing fiancée. She’s unfamiliar with the dangerous area full of crime, and doesn’t speak the language. Thomas will be her guide and protection in a foreign country.

 photo IMG_4786_zpspyf0dh7w.jpg

Thomas initially thinks he’s going to be backpacking through the jungle with a prissy, city girl. He soon learns Livvy has a kind heart, and is stronger than she looks. He’s trying to keep things professional and focus on the job, but he’s extremely attracted to his client. He’s taken responsibility for her on this five day journey, and can’t afford for things to get personal.

Livvy is insanely attracted to her intense, gorgeous guide. Thomas is slowly opening up to her, and she’s seeing a new side to this tough, closed off man that she really likes. The sexual tension grows till they finally can’t fight it anymore. Everything suddenly changes between them as feelings develop, and real connections are made.

 photo IMG_4764_zps3mm1sbsa.jpg

This was a fantastic story full of action, intrigue, secrets, lies, love, and explosive chemistry. There were lots of twists & turns, and it was an exciting, sexy read. Really enjoyed this one!

-This woman. The feel of her. The scent of her. I felt wild, completely untamed, shaking with a need I’d never known before. The need to claim.

-I was lost in him, lost in the joy of his taste, the calming scent of his skin. Safety. Goodness.

-I melted into him, my body, my heart.

Olivia's fiancé has been missing for two months now. She doesn't know if something happened to him or if he just ... left. His business was in some kind of trouble and he lied to her about it, but they were still kinda happy. Getting ready to plan the wedding. Livvy needs to know the truth. That's why she hires Thomas to travel with her to Colombia to find him. Because Colombia is where the PI she hired traced her fiancé to.

Thomas is the guy for hire. He does that professionally, but he is also using Olivia for his own purposes. We just don't know what they are - yet.

What we do know is that he didn't have the best childhood. He grew up hated in his uncle's household - being called a half-breed.

But he'll never let people like his uncle beat him down again. He's his own boss now. People should be scared of him.

But he's also scared. Scared of falling for this beautiful, rich lady who hired him. He doesn't do love! He can't afford to get distracted from his mission.

What will happen with Livvy and Thomas in the jungle?
Will they find Alec? Does he want to be found?

I really enjoyed this book!

I LOVED the cover and you just HAVE to read a new Mia Sheridan book as soon as you can get your hands on it!

I loved Thomas! He's so adorable. So manly. So hot. So broken, sad, lonely. I just wanted to jump into the book and hug him. (only hug? pffft yeah! ☺☺☺)

And Livvy is adorable too. The mega-rich girl looking for a guy that might not want to be found. But she needs closure.

The sparks are mega-flying between Livvy and Thomas. But of course nothing can happen, right? She's engaged and he's a... whatever he is. But of course things happen. And we love reading every single minute of their story!

And we also can't stop reading because we just NEED to find out what happened with Alec!!!

The only thing that bothered me a little about the book ... I had a bit of an early 2000's feeling while reading. Maybe I just read too many Navy SEAL and other Romantic Suspense book 10-15 years ago. Books that very often took the reader to South America with an ex soldier and a damsel in distress to be rescued or something like that.
That's not at all Mia's fault - but it just reminded me of all the books I've read ages ago. BUT - I also loved reading those books - so I didn't mind much! ☺

SEEK was a really adorable & exciting & moving romance!

It was also very hot! As in Thomas is obviously mega hot, but also the weather would SO NOT be my thing. Humid jungle heat is the worst!☺☺☺ But it definitely makes for a very sexy jungle romance! ☺

Also, Mia said there will be a tiny little connection to the Sign of Love series - and I was really afraid of missing it - due to my #BookAlzheimers - BUT I GOT IT!!! It wasn't overlookable at all if you've read all of Mia's books - but don't worry - if you haven't read the other books, you won't even notice - it's not important to the story! ☺

★ 3 stars!!! ★

“Leave the moves to me, sweetheart.”

No geral eu gostei, leitura gostosinha e ótima pra passar o tempo.

Olivia "Livvy" Barton is a woman of means but her financial security doesn't insulate the pain when her fiancé mysteriously vanishes. Using available resources, Livvy hires a man to escort her to Colombia to obtain answers. With parts of the country ravaged by natural disasters, Livvy must rely on her escort to provide a safe passage but she cannot be shielded from what is to come.

"I guess love can make people take risks that aren't necessarily wise." She furrowed her brow. "Yes, I guess so."

As a former soldier, Thomas is thoroughly trained to accompany Livvy to South America despite sharing the risks involved in such a journey. On the surface, he sees Livvy in a certain light, but it quickly becomes clear that she is more than just a pretty face. Committed to protecting her, their experiences intensify in their short time together.

"She was strong. I realized that now, but a person couldn't be strong all the time."

Upon arriving in Colombia and being isolated in the jungle and small villages, Livvy and Thomas begin to reveal bits of their past and true selves. Relying on Thomas feels natural for Livvy but this time also begins to prompt more introspection into Livvy's choices and motivations. While she is determined to find answers for Alec's disappearance, she is prepared for heartbreak. Though Thomas isn't initially invested in the outcome, he starts view Livvy in a different light based on her resolve.

"A thrill seeker and a homebody. We're a funny pair, aren't we?" she asked softly."

Told in dual POV, Livvy and Thomas come from different backgrounds, but their commonalities create a bond. Understanding what they endured, adds dimension to each character in that there is empathy and the mixed emotion of how they will move forward. Feeling their chemistry, Thomas exudes so much raw male strength and sexual energy that it is palpable and completely relatable when Livvy sneaks a peek at him and ultimately acts on her urges. With pending tension of the unknown, surrendering to the moment is all they agree to have.

"She'd wear the evidence of this night on her body in the morning, and at the half-formed thought, a fierce surge of satisfaction, of possession, surged through me."

From the beginning, I liked Thomas and how his past and present actions defined his character. With Livvy, initially I was worried that she would be a snob but very quickly it becomes clear that she isn't defined by money but rather her heart and a deep need to protect. I admired her tenacity and willingness to take the journey despite knowing the consequences of such closure.

With a twisty reveal at the end, the plot and characters come full circle. This author's writing style is always engaging, as she has a precise ability to combine emotion and vulnerabilities with added self-reflection and inner strength.

For those looking to read a romantic suspense with worthy characters and an introspective journey, I recommend Seek.

5 "That's what makes you a hero." Stars

This newest Mia Sheridan contemporary romance full of adventure, mystery, and passion was a true winner for me. I read it in one sitting, literally from beginning to end, completely absorbed in the tension-filled discovery of self this talented author provides. Seek delves into the core of it's characters through a fast-paced, unique plot set in a picturesque yet risky time and place all the while giving readers a soul shifting romance.

"An invisible rope."

Expect the unexpected when it comes to Thomas and Livvy. Some significant kind of spark tethers these two characters to each other from their first meet. It's palpable through the words and structure of plot Sheridan creates. The beauty of these two characters shines because of that spark and how it leads each of them to understand intimate details of themselves that were long ago forgotten. When those details emerge piece by piece the connection between the two grows ever stronger. The construction of this plot also provides a mesmerizing aspect to this book. It's fast-paced yet intertwined with a slow burning romance. Mia Sheridan cloaks readers in a mystery with some gritty details and a shadows cast over both characters that leave you feeling that much more tethered to them as they are becoming more and more connected to each other.

"Love makes you weak."

Or does it? Sheridan explores this statement wholly throughout her exciting journey of romance and discovery. She took a smart and interesting concept executing it brilliantly into a consuming and rich story. Seek took me by total surprise. I knew nothing about it and loved the discoveries I made along this thrilling journey. While inside this lovely tale, Mia Sheridan's eloquent prose, engaging characters, and enigmatic plot will strike every romance readers heart.

“I hadn't known there was more before this trip, but now I did. Because of Thomas, now I did.”

Olivia "Livvy" Barton was born in a life of luxury.  She never had to worry about money which came handy when she was forced to go on a trip to Columbia on a search for her fiancée.  Livvvy was bound to get answers she seek; she hired a man as a guide to assist her reaching to her destination but what she finds was definably not what she was excepting at all.

I really enjoyed the way this story started and how everything built up to the plot.  When Livvy meets this mysterious escort man she finds him attractive right away and he seemed to have the same type of chemistry towards her which makes the story much interesting.    I loved that the story is written on both point of view because we get to see what each are thinking.

“She had decided chasing after a man who’d jilted her was a worthy reason to put herself at risk. So here I was. I’d protect her body – she was responsible for her heart.”

Thomas was highly trained and knew his way around the dangerous country of South America.  He made Livvy believe he was a man without heart but inside he had a genuine heart and I truly liked that about him.  He had a bad childhood which caused him to close up towards people and love in general.

“Olivia Barton had walked into my life, and my entire world had tilted on its axis.”

Seek is a fast pace story about love and second chances.  I truly enjoyed this story and now I feel like I must check out the other books in the prior series because I would love to know more about the business in Vegas.  Readers who enjoy a quick romantic suspense novel would find this book appealing.

This is a It's not you, it's ME!! review.

I thought that if anyone could redeem romantic suspense in my eyes, it was Mia Sheridan.

See? Already, it's me. Of all the romance subgenres, suspense is my least favorite. So this one started from a disadvantage, but......

The GREAT : WOW! This book started off fabulously. The first 20% was a 5-star experience for me. Both Livvy and Brody's backstories were interesting and of course, tugged at my heartstrings - this is a Mia Sheridan novel after all. And even better, Livvy's reasons for going to Colombia were so solid, so believable. I was 100% behind her.

Also, there is an amazing twist to the story near the end. As I read, I knew something was coming, and I was closish to figuring it out. But what actually came to pass knocked my socks off!

The not so great : At about 20%, the story started going downhill for me. Please keep in mind that the following are personal pet peeves:

1. Forced/contrived scenes:

2. Insta-love. I have no problems with insta-love. I believe people can fall in love in a short time, especially under pressure and in extreme situations. But for me to believe in insta-love I need dialogue between the MC's. For me, intimacy can't be built without conversations. The ONLY thing these two talked about were their super-deep, life-altering moments. Umm, who talks about these kinds of things with a complete stranger?

3. OW drama. Again, I'm not usually too picky about this, especially if it feels organic to the plot. Here it felt forced.

4. TSTL heroine. This is what pushed my rating down to 2 stars, because really, WTF?!!!

5. Missing/annoying details. Jeans in the sweaty, humid jungle? What's in her pack? Where was the international help effort in this disaster zone? There's bus service in some areas but not others? These are just a few of my Q's. While I was reading the list was looooooong.

5. The ending. I thought the resolution to the twist was so abrupt and sudden. It left me so unsatisfied. Plus,

★3.5 -4 STARS ★

Olivia Barton is emotionally tormented by the disappearance of soon to be husband. What should be a routine business trip to Miami results in him vanishing without a trace. Desperate and scared she enrols help of a private investigator who tracks him down to a remote town in Columbia. She’s confused by his appearance here, but overcome with fear for what has become of him. With no way of directly contacting him due to the recent natural disasters, the only way she can get her answers is if she goes there to seek them.

Thomas is a mercenary with a special set of skills, and it’s because of these skills Olivia enlists him to help her on the treacherous journey. He is every bit as intimidating and resourceful as she envisaged, and with danger lurking around every corner the intensity of their situation gives rises to feelings she finds hard to decipher.

The journey to Colombia is both literal and metaphorical. Both Olivia and Thomas are forced to confront the past which has led them on the path they now travel. Fear is an emotion they have in common, and in revealing that fear they also reveal their strength. I enjoyed the uniqueness of their situation, as well as the intimacy that came with them learning to trust one another.

There are a handful of authors who can quite easily reduce me to a blubbering wreck, and it’s fair to say that Mia Sheridan is one of them. On this occasion however, Mia chanced the pace and I very much relished the gritty, fast-moving, action packed romance that is SEEK.

3.75 stars. I enjoyed most parts of this book, especially the tiny Easter egg at the end, where Mr Carson Stinger from Stinger made a brief appearance. Buuuut I had to shave off minimal stars because the ending wasn’t as satisfying as I wanted. Told in dual POV with super short but sweetly ok. HEA.

4,5 "I was really doing this. My God, I was really doing this" stars

When Mia Sheridan tells she's going to release a book, what do you do? You put it on your TBR list without even reading the synopsis, right?! I haven't read all of her books, but I've read enough to know that this is different from what she usually writes. And when one author risks another genre, we get a little suspicious. However, you don't have to be. Not at all. Not only did Mia bring a story that is the kind I love to read, but she SUCCEEDED in doing so.

Alec, Olivia's fiancé, disappeared two months ago and that made her hire a P.I. to look for him. And then came the first clue: he was in Colombia. Olivia wanted to go after him, but the country had suffered from earthquakes and tsunamis, making it very dangerous to travel there. Determined to find out what really happened to Alec, she hires a mysterious man to protect her and take her close to the answers she wants.

The two characters are presented vaguely and in the course of the story we learn more about them and we come to like more and more. Olivia is stronger than she looks and she's super charismatic. Thomas is mysterious, calculating, cold, serious. However, his attitudes make us sigh and swoon. He has questionable attitudes, though I would never condemn him. Once he is opening up, there's no way we would say no to him. The men Mia creates are wonderful and he is no different.

SEEK is not a huge book, but it is quite intense. It'll make you glued to the pages and you will let go only when it gets to the end. I am the proof of this, since I maintain a huge bags under my eyes for preferring to continue reading than going to sleep. You can't let go until you know what happened to Alec.

I love books where we try to guess through clues that the book gives about what happened. A lot of the end I already suspected and my only complaint is that the resolution of the climax was very fast.

It has cute moments, tense moments and super hot moments. SEEK was a beautiful surprise and I really hope that the author continues to explore this side more. I highly recommend it!!! The author was fantastic. Mia "really did this. My God, she really did this".

4.5 Stars!

When Olivia finds her fiancée disappeared on an apparent business trip, she hires a private investigator to find his whereabouts. It’s quite the shock to hear he’s been found in earthquake and tsunami ravished Columbia. Unable to sit idle and wonder if he’s dead or alive, she hires Thomas, ex Navy Seal, to personally escort her through this unsafe terrain to find her fiancée. But just what she plans to find is the question....

I pretty much didn’t put this book down for the first 75%. It didn’t feel near as typical “Mia Sheridan-ish” as I’ve experienced before. Her books, often heavy on emotion, this book seemed much more suspenseful with a definite mysterious feel to it. What would Olivia find when she stumbles upon her fiancé Alec? Why did he disappear? To add a bit more zing to the plot, Olivia and Thomas have quite the...chemistry. Seemingly different on the outside- her a wealthy businesswoman, he a tough-as-nails undercover...‘bodyguard,’ both characters have dealt with their own fair share of childhood horror stories yet both characters choosing to live their adult lives differently due to those far-from-healed scars. But maybe, with patience and understanding, they can be the balm to each other’s broken souls.

I devoured everything about this story except a twist I wasn’t expecting. Once it was later explained, I understood it better but I still didn’t all-together buy into it. But all in all, I love anything this woman writes and I was happy to see her venture a little more into the suspenseful side of romance!

Olivia's fiance' Alec, goes missing and she hires an investigator to help. When she learns Alec is in Columbia she seeks help from a guide. Thomas was not what she expected. She didn't expect to start feeling things for the man who was helping her find her lost fiance'. He is mysterious and at times cold, yet Olivia sees the good beneath his rough exterior.

Thomas is hired by Olivia to take her to her fiance' in Columbia. As an ex-navy seal, he was an excellent choice for the earthquake, tsunami-torn Columbian terrain. And while he had a job to do, he couldn't seem to fight his attraction to Olivia.

They run into quite a bit of trouble along their journey and it only serves to bring them closer together.

I read my first Mia Sheridan book, 'Leo' in March of 2013. Since that time I have become a HUGE fan of her storytelling. Her books are generally angsty, sexy and hold a message. Sheridan has always been one of my top favorite authors. So, keeping it real here, this was my least favorite book from Sheridan.

I was looking forward to the thrilling element the blurb promised and while there was some intrigue, because the story was rushed, the thrill was lost. Also, the characters fell flat for me. The instant attraction/love was over the top and everything just felt rushed. I didn't get a chance to connect with the characters and believe in them before they connected with one another. Olivia at times comes across as self-assured and then other times as immature. Thomas was a tortured hero and by all accounts, I should have loved him. But there wasn't much depth to his character.

Having said all of that, I can't wait to read what Mia Sheridan writes next because out of the 11 books from her I've read, my average rating is 4.6!
