Prom King

Rate this book
He was the hot popular guy. I was the nerdy girl with a fantasy crush. All of my childhood, I was invisible to Adam Carlisle. But it was only a cruel joke that ruined my self-esteem and broke my heart. Ten years later and my friend begs me to attend our school reunion with her. I'm older, wiser, but still a nerd. This event is setting off my anxiety. I want it to be over. Then... I see him. My prom king. Adam is hotter than ever. But what really gets my attention? He's staring right at me. I'm not invisible anymore. What happens when my fantasy crush becomes reality? This full-length novel is all about second chances, true love, and a crazy hot alpha realizing that the nerdy girl is his modern day Cinderella. Sadly, I reached the half way point and this sexy story was totally ruined for me by Adam.
Not exactly cheating but his actions made him look weak and he really didn't deserve the trust of Ollie after that sort of betrayal. I finished this book after a pause in reading but I wasn't really into it after that.
Love Penny Wylder, she writes these sexy stories so well just hated the premise of this one. It didn't work at all for me but I am looking forward to her next book.

Cute book. Hated two people.

Prom King was a book about second chances at love. Well, I guess a first chance because they never dated each other in high school but everyone could see that Adam and Olivia had a crush on each other. Well, it's time for sparks to fly again because it's their high school reunion. Boy.. do they spark!

Adam and Ollie were adorable. Of course they had one thing in common: Sasha. Ugh, I hated her so much! She was just way too bitchy and self-centered. I get that she wanted Adam but the girl didn't even try to like him or get to know him. I don't even think she has a heart. I felt bad that Adam was dumb enough to fall into her trap and then to stay there. He was an idiot but he redeemed himself towards the end.

Then there's Ollie, aka Olivia. Even though Sasha was such a god damn bitch to her and basically ruined her life - she never said a bad thing about the witch. She deserved it but Ollie just didn't do it. She cared about Adam and I was glad that they finally made that jump into relationship-ville together. The smut was good but I kind of wanted more.

Overall, it was cute. It had a happy ending and the epilogue was adorable. I'm just wondering what the baby's name will be.

Wow. This was straight SHITTY.

Let's meet our "star couple:” Weak-Minded Will and No-Backbone Becky (Apologies to all the Becky’s out there – especially my friend Becky).

(Actual names Adam and Olivia)

Weak-Minded Will meets up with No-Backbone Becky at a 10 year HS reunion. They immediately rekindle a relationship that never exsited. Weaky tells No-backbone he’d always liked her but reasons stopped him. Plus the insane HS bully Sasha (or some shit) who knew he liked her but wanted him for herself.

FF and it turns out that Weaky is in a fake relationship with the bully – but is fucking No-backbone the WHOLE BOOK. “he never touched her” but the bully is his public relationship. And she now claims to be preggers to keep him away from No-backbone.

And that’s when I was DONE.

It all comes to a head at the FUCKING END at a party after Weaky lies and lies and lies to get his dick wet. But we’re supposed to believe its true love.

GTFO here.

Prom King was a stand alone by Penny Wylder. I’m a sucker for a second chance story.

Olivia “Ollie” Mitchell was the object of many “mean girl” pranks in high school, but all from the same popular girl. She was humiliated beyond any imagination but rose above it in her young adult years. Her bestie talked her into going to her ten year high school reunion since years had passed.

Adam Carlisle was popular in high school, gorgeous, a basketball star and an all around good guy most of the time. He crushed on Ollie but never got the chance to act on it until the reunion.

I loved the second chance theme but I struggled with some of the plot. Not because it wasn’t well written - it was - but because I hated the “mean girl” circumstances that continued even into adulthood. I had a hard time believing the circumstances.

In the end, it was a quick, steamy and entertaining read. I would love to see Lorraine’s story next....

After a massively embarrassing incident at the prom the heroine Ollie doesn’t want to go to her high school 10 year reunion, but her best friend talks her into it. She arrives and is immediately faced with her high school crush Adam. Both Ollie and Adam have never really got over their attraction for each other.

This was just okay for me I wasn’t keen on how the story was written it wasn’t paced or balanced IMO. I found Ollie a bit annoying, while Adam was a wimp who was a massive liar. The OW was more like a pantomime villain very OTT. The guy on the cover was the best thing about this.

This book was cute. I couldn't stand Sasha but she got her own in the end. Ollie was such a sweetie so to see her get her HEA in the end was a great thing to see.

Weak male MC

As I kept reading I hoped the book would get better, but sadly it didn't. I ended up skimming through the book. Adam was such a wuss. He liked Olivia in high school and yet never tried to get to know her. After that whole prom incident, he never tried to contact her, even after knowing the rumors that Sasha spread about Olivia. And now, ten years later, he is being blackmailed by Sasha and he could have tried to fix it before he met back up with Olivia, but he was just too busy and didn't want to rock the boat with his boss, who happens to be Sasha's father. Not only that but he basically lets his own father dictate his life. What a weak character! Olivia should have dumped Adam and found someone better.

This one was my least favorite. It was good don't get me wrong! It was just a bit wrong for me.
I am a very very loyal person, if one of my tribe has an enemy it's mine too. So it felt a bit wrong to me what happened after all the things. I get it in a way but also it's hard for me.

I liked how the feelings never went away, but 10 years is a very very long time. It feels like so many lost years.

I guess this wasn't my luchy weekend. This was just boring from the get go. Its an overused concept and I felt no chemistry between the MCs. They slept together so fast it was ridiculous!

Maybe its just me girls... But this was just flat for me. I stopped right when they have their first sex... snooze!!!

This one just wasn't for me. Idiot hero who imo did stupid things for even more stupid reasons and the idiot heroine was too understanding. And everything just fell together in a perfect little bundle without anyone being called out on their bullshit. Just nope.

What a fun and exciting story that is full of passion, heat, drama, laughter, angst, heartache and love. PROM KING by Penny Wylder is the story of Olivia 'Ollie' and Adam. Ollie was really nerdy in High School and because of that, she was bullied by the “it” crowd. She had a huge crush on Adam, one of the most popular guys in school, which gave the "it" crowd tons of fuel to harrass her with at every turn. When a horrible trick is played on Ollie & Adam at the senior prom, Ollie is left devastated and runs out . Because of "That night", Ollie has mental and emotional scars left on her that still haunt even now years later. Ollie's BFF wants her to go the their 10 year high school reunion to let them see that she is this beautiful successful woman and didn't let them keep her down. Finally worn down by her BFF, Ollie agrees.
Then we have Adam, Ollie's sexy crush from 10 years before. Adam has gone on to medical school and is about to graduate as a pediatric doctor. He doesn’t want to go to this reunion but his own father tells him that it would help his career to be seen back at his 10 year HS reunion. would be a good place to be seen . Adam finally agrees to attend but its said grudgingly.
When Adam sees Ollie at the 10 yr reunion, he knows this is his BIG chance to apologize and tell her how he really felt back then. I have to say that when Adam and Ollie meet back up, Sparks fly between these lovebirds. they both still feel a pull that cannot be denied. In order for Adam and Ollie to find HEA, they will have to face lies, deception and a nasty, psycho person from their past in order to get their happiness. This story has great chemistry, steam, heat, drama, tension, angst, heartache, passions, and great characters.

My rating: 4.7 stars *****

This is a cute story of second chances.

Ollie doesn’t have the best luck when it comes to men and the last thing she wants to do is attend her ten year high school reunion especially after the humiliation she suffered at the hands of the popular girl Sasha on prom night. She loved making her life a misery especially in front of her crush Adam. But maybe people can change and her best friend convinced her that she needs to go. The minute her eyes meet Adam’s across the room the air becomes electric and they embark on a whirlwind romance. Could Ollie really about to get her dream man or will Sasha destroy everything for her all over again?

Adam cannot believe it when he sees Ollie arrive, she is as beautiful as she was in high school, over the past ten years he has thought of her often with regret that he never went after her the way that he wanted. Once he sees her he knows this is his one and only chance to live out the life he always wanted with the girl who has haunted him for years. But Adam has a secret and one that could destroy the burgeoning relationship he has with Ollie and ruin any future they might have had. Can he convince her that everything she believes isn’t true or has he really missed his chance this time?

Would have liked Ollie to have more backbone and made Adam work harder for forgiveness, but what I didn’t get was Adam’s dad character he served no purpose other than to be a vile human being for no reason. Still I will always love a book by Penny Wylder and this one is no different. Totally safe read with a nice ending would have liked a longer epilogue.

This is my first book by this author and I was drawn to it because of the blurb (and lets face it, the cover ain't to shabby either!) I was kind of in the mood for something light and quick and was going into it without any crazy expectations.
I can say that it neither disappointed nor exceeded my expectations.
description
I wasn't really looking for a story that was going to blow my mind with deep meaning or give me puffy face from emotional crying. Just a light and airy little romance before I get back into my Dark Romance kick again.
This book hit right on the mark.
That being said, I did have some issues with this book
PLOT
We start out with our heroine Ollie (Olivia) who is described as a nerd who is shy and quiet, the doormat brand character. Her best friend drags her to her highschool reunion, to which she really did not want to go due to a humiliating and scaring moment from the teenage years. They show up at said reunion and she sees her old high school crush typical hottie/jock/out-of-my-league type Adam. Adam is a sweet guy, who despite being a jock and very popular in high school never really enjoyed the high school "fame". Turns out, he has actually had a thing for Olivia too throughout highschool.
Upon their re-connection, sparks fly and sexual shenanigans ensue! Adam, however, has a big secret that he has hidden from Ollie and one that could ruin the fragile new relationship.
description

Stuff I liked!
- Adam was not your typical man-whore Jock and there was not OW drama or cheating. HUGE plus! I HATE scenes with OW, just makes me want to throw the book against the nearest wall and since mine is a Kindle the aftermath would be very sad for me.

- We always expect the heroine to be strong and stand up for herself because these are qualities we like a person. However, I am kind of a fan that the author stuck with the true personality of the character, or at least the one she is described as. It drives me crazy when in the beginning of the book you have some wilting flower of a heroine and the as soon as she meets the hero she is all of a sudden some 'I am woman hear me roar' type. Just kind of throws me off.

-The pace was good. I never felt like the story was dragging or slow which is the worst!

Stuff that made me say "Hm... not so much..."
- There was not much development of their relationship to show why they even liked each other. There was only one time where it was mentioned they even spoke. So, he is this super hot Jock who has developed a crush to the point of pinning over the girl for 10 years! over a girl who he had barley ever even talked to in high school?? hmm... Their relationship from the reunion on felt way too familiar. It was said they had "known each other for years" but in reality they had only known each other existed for years, nothing more than the superficial. So the ultra familiarity just seemed a bit contrived.
- There was a bit TOO much sexy time in this book. Yes! You heard me right! HOLD THE STEAM! Through the middle of the book it was pretty much all they were doing and I would have liked to hear more about the emotional connection instead.

What a fun, adorable second chance romance this turned out to be.

When I first read the description for this beauty I knew I had to read it, I’m a sucker for a second chance romance, a damn sucker.

ARC Received in exchange for an honest review

Ollie is the kind of girl that loves to read, she’s keeps to herself and enjoys her own company along with her best friends but even those kind of girls like to watch the guys and Olivia can’t keep her eyes off of Adam.

Adam is the popular guy, he’s the jock but he’s the kind of jock that’s wants more than just sports. He’s smart and incredibly handsome and has his eyes on one girl only but can’t seem to quite get her.

Fast forward 10 year and we’re at the school reunion and what a damn event reunion that is.

This book is filled with embarrassing moments, bullying, and total bitchiness from a girl that doesn’t get her way but not only that it’s full of love, tenderness and super hot sex. Watching Ollie and Adam reunite was the highlight of this book for me along with that ending and the baddie getting her comeuppance.

There was times that my heart broke, that my blood boiled and a time where my cheeks hurt from smiling. This book pulled so many emotions from me and I absolutely love that.

Penny Wylder did an amazing job on Prom King, I can’t wait to read future books from this author.

Hopeful, arousing, and the perfect little romance that goes from nightmare to fantasy-turned-real.
The nerdy girl in high school and the hot Mr. Popular don’t seem to fit, yet they’re a lovely lovematch waiting to happen. Except jealousy and evil manipulation break in and stop it in its tracks.

All the past teen traumas are interspersed with the present time when Ollie is invited to the 10-year-highschool-reunion and has the chance to rehash her past humiliation or face her long-lost crush. I enjoyed every word of this story because who doesn’t like the sweet, nerdy girl to get all her dreams despite the odds? It’s well written, the scenes are gleefully entertaining, and the passionate moments leave you panting alright.

I loved the scene around the books, so tender. Add some spicy drama and deceit, mix in rich and entitled manipulators, and it’s all non-stop fun. Ollie’s friend and her kind of glamorous job are great, too. The epilogue shines with sensuality and male care, I loved it <3

PROM KING by Penny Wylder is the story of Olivia 'Ollie' and Adam.
Olivia and Adam had went to school together although she never thought he noticed her. Olivia was a shy nerdy type girl where Adam seemed to be very popular. Adam was crowed prom king and as somewhat of a joke she was crowed the queen. Now its there 10 year reunion and Olivia's feels are still there for Adam. Adam didn't take a chance back in the day to get to know Olivia but he is not letting that chance go now.
This was a great second chance at love...loved it!

After reading the blurb on this book I was so excited to read it but now that I have it was a BIG disappointment. I thought Adam (lead male character) was going to be an alpha male. He was not. He was a coward and weak. And even when the dust had settled and Adam told the truth at the end of the book of course Ollie (female lead character) was only to happy to drink that crap up. WTF?? After everything she had been put through by Sasha and Adam by extension all was forgotten and nothing needed to be forgiven. I was disappointed in both Adam & Ollie's characters.

Adam Carlisle is the sports jock that Olivia Mitchell had a crush on in high school and was at the center of a vile humiliating false accusation that left Ollie running from her prom. A decade later and the two meet again at their school reunion and their mutual attraction is off the charts. But Ollie is cautious and Adam is hiding something important.

The high school story is told in flashbacks from the school reunion timeline and it all makes for good setup for the couple relationship which features lots of hot sex. The architect of Ollie's prom disaster makes a reappearance and she's even more psychotic this time around.

Overall, a quick read that has a good mix of plot in with the bedroom scenes.

Rcvd an ARC at no cost to author.. I normally like this author but I wasn't crazy about this book, and let me tell you why. Olivia was humiliated by a mean girl at school (Sasha) what helped her was the friendship that she had with Lorraine, I loved Lorraine she was fun she cared about her friend and she normally had the best intentions for her, she made a error in my opinion further in the book, I will explain in a few. So Olivia didn't plan on going to her reunion due to her humiliation, I understood her, she went because Lorraine help her and she gets reunited with Adam her crush that she never really got over. Adam appologizes to her and explains why her humiliation was caused. No here is my problem he knows that Sasha is not a nice person, he knew what she did in high school yet he has a fake relationship with this horrid woman, and you think that is ok, no dude it is not. He was a self centered jerk in my opinion and Olivia deserved so much more, and then I was upset with Lorraine who encourages her to forgive him because of who his family was (uh really) yeah no..Then Olivia forgives him with no grovelling, nope nope nope. I only gave this three stars because 1, I had liked Olivia, and 2 I had liked Lorraine and if it was just those two it would have earned the 3 stars..Adam sucked.

Ten Years Till Happily Ever After

She crushed on him all through high school. He liked her too, but never took the opportunity to let her know. Fast forward ten years to their high school reunion...she’s still crushing on him and the feeling is mutual. This time, neither one of them is going to hold back.

After prom night left Ollie completely embarrassed and devasted, she vowed to never look back and move forward. Now it’s her ten year high school reunion and all the hurtful memories are coming back. However, she’s not that girl anymore. She’s a beautiful and successful accountant. It’s time to take that leap and get what she’s always wanted...Adam Carlisle.

Adam was popular in high school but still a nice guy. When he sees Ollie after ten years, he can’t let her slip through his fingers a second time.

These two definitely have chemistry! Once they get together, they just can’t get enough. Too bad the mean girl in high school never grew up and she’s determined to make Adam hers and destroy Ollie in the process.

A totally hot and sexy story about taking a chance. To get what you want, sometimes you have to risk it all.

3.5 STARS

Before I begin, I'll give everyone a few seconds to admire the delicious cover. I really love Penny Wylder stories. They are always fun and entertaining smutt that are a perfect way to decompress and unwind. With Prom King, I loved the concept.

A nerdy unpopular girl who dealt with may more crap than she should of in high school who has always pinned away for the popular jock. After a particularly crushing moment of humiliation all seems lost, only to get a second chance at her crush a decade later at her high school reunion.
My issue with the story was that I just never really got behind our male lead. I am almost always won over by male leads, even if they are initially not my favourite, but I never truly felt any love for Adam. Poor Ollie still had to deal with the mean girls, the leader of them was especially hateful and boy did I like hating her!

This was well written and like I said, I loved the premise, it just lack a little of that sexy spark for me that Penny Wylder does so well because of my lack of warmth toward Adam.
