Last year I wanted to go to MIT. Now I just want to survive my first year as a magic student. Luckily I've got three tempting men on my side.

My life turned upside down after the death of my godmother and I've traded science for sorcery. I never thought magic existed outside of books, but here I am at an elite academy for magical arts.

If it wasn’t for popular heartthrobs Isaac and Luke, I'd lose my mind. Their tutoring sessions teach me more than just magic. And my ridiculously hot roommate, Hunter? Well, I'm pretty sure he hates everyone—not just me. Oh, and he’s convinced my dead parents might have tried to trigger the apocalypse.

Turns out that he might be right. Magic is dangerous and I'm pretty sure it's going to kill me—if the faculty doesn't get me first.

Welcome to freshman year at Rosewilde Academy for Magical Arts—where secrets hide behind every door and rules are meant to be broken.

A Spell for Death is the first book of four in the reverse harem Rosewilde Academy for Magical Arts, which follows Amelia in her studies of the arcane. Along the way, she gathers a family of friends who never ask her to choose between them. This book features scorching hot private tutoring sessions, mm lovers, gruff enemies who become lovers, and female BFFs who support each other.

A Spell for Death was so difficult to get into, I just wanted something to grasp my attention. Even by the end I only had so much feeling for a book that supposedly had magic.

I wanted to address this first, since reverse harem is the reason why I picked up this book. I did not like the way this harem was formed. All throughout the book I felt like Amelia just latched onto something that's already formed between the guys. The M/M theme is strong in this one, I almost felt like Nathan is the centre of the harem and not Amelia, lol. Lucas, Isaac and Hunter have a history that makes development with Amelia feel like a side thought.

The romance in this book. There is no substance to form anything between Amelia and the guys, like what in the world did we see between Isaac and Amelia before he is going down on her?! Even interactions with Hunter and Lucas are nothing that show chemistry if it's not for Amelia telling she feels attracted. The guys have no personalities, there is no liveliness to them. All I got was a group of friends who might fuck occasionally. Not to mention the asshole move they pull with the pill or whatever just makes it disgusting and impossible to view them as love interest.

Amelia was okay, I mean she had no strong personality either but she was more developed than the guys so there's that. Serena was the only one who had something interesting going on, sidekick BFF is the most colourful, imagine that.

The story starts off in a way that has no hook. I mean Amelia doesn't know Nathan, so obviously I don't know this dude either. How can I care for a plot heavily around his disappearance when we have nothing to build towards this. I was surely more interested about Amelia's magic but there was very little of that. Whatever magic there is, it's so... dry. Magical exams, classes, tricks and magical paths, everything was so science-y. Like I'm reading theorems.

In the end, this book had very few things that were interesting and essentially doesn't give me even an okayish romance.

DNF

WTF they DRUGGED this girl. The people that are her love interests DRUGGED HER. She wrote it off saying something like "I couldn't blame them, because if someone I love died, i'd try to get information too." Sleezy, very Cruel intentions. No Bueno.

I’m ready for my acceptance letter!

A Spell for Death is the fabulous first book in the Rosewilde Academy for Magical Arts by B.C. Palmer and Marie Robinson.

The story follows Amelia and her acceptance into Rosewilde Academy, where she meets the guys who will change her life - Isaac, Luke and Hunter. Let’s not forget the most amazing BFF - Serena. I’ll just leave it at that, cause I don’t want to give away too much.

This is honestly one of my most favourite academy books, and you can’t go past the first book in the series by this amazing duo. If your after a book that has magic, disappearing underwear, no rules and some of the most drool worthy scenes, then one click this book.

I additionally love that this is set in a college environment, rather than a high school, as the characters are more mature.

Winner, Smash Hit, Knockout… there are not enough encouraging words to describe my enjoyment of this story. I devoured it, and I mean in like a few hours; I could not get enough. It has been a while since I read a book that was so good that I read it insta-fast and talked to the characters during my reading.

The story starts out fun, lighthearted and then… BAM!! You are transported to this new and wonderful academy that NEEDS to send me my acceptance letter. I loved the plot of this story, the way the authors chose to unravel the details and overall plot. I LOVED the characters; they made this story so amazing. I could not help but talk back to them, answer their questions and maybe yell at them a time or too. It was like an interactive story for me, LOL.

There is magic, passion, snark, action and heat…oh is there heat! I will warn you, dear reader, it ends and you WILL need the next book, you will have a hangover… there is no way around that. I can’t wait to be transported back into this world again and again! I have the extreme pleasure of reading this ARC and I am leaving my honest review.

Good

I really enjoyed the way these authors wove their words, inserting complex descriptions with eloquent phrases. It was somehow poetic in places, yet still highly relatable. As for the narrative itself, I’m on the fence. The concepts and foundations are rock solid, forming a picture of a fantastic story. The execution, however, felt a little rushed in places - jumping ahead without full exploration or understanding. Beyond that though, it was amazing, showcasing characters that are both brilliant and funny. It’s an academy read, but a bit different that your usual fare.

Pros:
- The words flow and dance together beautifully.
- Characters are intriguing. Serena..... I want her as a beat friend. Maybe?
- Magical explanations are exacting, but not repelling. It makes you think.
- Fast burn, though a slow build RH.
- Good use of multiple POV.

Cons:
- Story felt rushed.
- Large swatches are glossed over or eliminated, leaving us wondering what happened in the interim.
- Why did she go there to start with? We get a small idea, but no true explanation. That felt pivotal, yet not explored, not really.

Great story

Interesting and original storyline with an intelligent leading lady and no bullying. I read it in a day but there were parts I found difficult. Wasn’t keen on the constant references to sex, the m/m and multiples sex scenes and struggled with some of the maths/physics magic concepts. But overall it was worth persevering.

Don’t let the darkness snatch ya.

Love going on this mystery journey! Classic semi-conspiracy “what even is anything?” plot that reveals its secrets to you in a smooth timeline. We’re not bludgeoned over the head with clues and treated like idiots, and the cast of characters are also very decidedly not idiots, either. We’re allowed glimpses into their paranoia, their cleverness, and their self-assurance, and I never once found myself screaming at anyone for clearly making the wrong move in a horror movie. The choices they made seemed like the best options at the time, even if they were sometimes misguided or flat-out crappy.

What I will say is that I completely understand the motivations and characterizations of our cast, but take slight issue with our FMC. She’s.....resilient. And I actually appreciate that, but it makes her suffering seem disingenuous. The only times her sadness feels real is when it’s about her godmother, but things like.....the shower scene? Kinda felt like she bounced right back from that so I constantly forgot about it. She has nightmares, but they don’t really haunt her effectively. Hunter notes her hard-earned trauma at the end, and it seems misplaced given that her chapter before was a round up of how swell things were. I enjoy her wit and cleverness, but I don’t really feel sympathy for her at any point because she doesn’t let us feel or know her pain very much. Even chapters from the POV of the guys barrrrrrrrrely note her physical or mental anguish, the worst of it kind of just being the bags under her eyes. What I’m saying is that y’all wrote a strong character and she doesn’t feel all tore up, so telling us to feel all tore up on her behalf without giving us a way to really connect with that feels empty.

I am definitely looking forward to finding out more about this what-our-gal-is situation and thank you sweet baby buttermilk biscuits for that teaser of the next book because I could not TAKE any more uncertainty over whether Amelia and [guy who is heavily featured in preview] ended up.....uh.....continuing that “conversation” from the dance floor.

Oh, and for those like me who want to know the smut situation beforehand? Quality smut in moderate amounts. Maybe 3 or 4 scenes total, but for sure good ones. Definitely seems like that’ll amp up in book two.

*** I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy.***

IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR AN ACADEMY BOOK TO READ, THEN THIS IS IT!! SUCH A GREAT BOOK!!

Okay so I am still trying to calm down after reading this book. Geez, B. C Palmer and Marie Robinson do an exceptional job with this story. It has it all, intrigue, suspense, crazy twists and some romance. Not sure if I would call it romance but dang was it hot!

So the main character Amelia Cresswin is invited to attend Rosewilde Academy. She meets Lucas, Isaac and Hunter. Here she finds out about another world with magic. So she embarks on her journey to self discovery. However, fate has different plans for her. The way the story is written, you cannot help be feel for Amelia. The things that she has endured in life up to the point that she is invited to Rosewilde has been harsh. She does not let what has happen to her in the past deter her from making her on path. She struggles to acclimate to school and magic but with help from Isaac and Lucas she starts to get a handle on it. Things start heat up between Lucas, Isaac and Amelia and wow that is hot. LUCKY GIRL!! Anyways then there is her sexy, brooding roommate Hunter. The sexual tension between these two is crazy and that is all I am saying about that. Revelations are made and so is a betrayal that could hinder her path of discovery. She still takes a chance with her new friends and bonds are made that are stronger because of what has happened. This book had me on the each of my seat, heart pounding and almost in tears. The suspense of everything and questions answered during it all was freaking intense. Can love be strong enough for this group or will it be torn away. I don't know but I cannot wait for the next book. This is a must read book no doubt.

I am going to start by saying I was not going to jump on the academy bandwagon that seems to be going around. However, I have read work by both B.C. Palmer and Marie Robinson, so I figured it would be worth a try. I am so glad I gave it a shot!!

There are so many twists and turns. So many things to ensnare you mind and hold you hostage till you finish the book. The writing is amazing and the world they create makes me feel like I have escaped my own, which let's face it is why most of us read.

The characters they give you and the relationships they build are amazing. You root for people, get sad when they are sad, get angry when they do. WORRY!!! I never thought I would worry about the safety of fictional characters until I started reading this book. There was a chapter I read, no I won't give it away here, that had me holding my breath. My chest was tight and I was in a complete state of panic until the end. And even then, there was more after it, but at least the tightness in my chest subsided, a little.

I can not wait for the next book and I am eagerly awaiting it. Not hinting or nudging the authors at all... Okay, I definitely am. If you have been on the fence about dipping your toes in the academy world of books, start with this one, you won't be disappointed!

**I received an advanced review copy of this book for my honest opinion**

Soo ready for book 2! This story was intense on so many levels. We follow Amy and her boys as they solve a mystery and bring back the piece that should make them whole as a group but will it? At the beginning I felt like Alice must have been down the rabbit hole. Everything was so fast paced and spinning. Then when the plot twist came, it felt like a retelling of Rapunzel with a tinge of darkness lurking and waiting to catch you! The ending makes you wish you already had book 2 though this story can also be read as a standalone because the story has a clear resolution. The easy acceptance of the sexual part of the academy from the beginning by Amy made me wonder how fast burn the book was but it all settled down enough that you discover a solid plot written with seemingly a lot of solid research. The RH part of the story is so well written that you end up craving Hunter as much as Amy does.

Wow. Just wow.

Freaking awesome book. While the word “thorough” might not seem like a particularly sexy description, the authors did an amazing job at the world and character building. I devoured this book in a matter of hours but this was not a skim the top and skip to book two story. I felt like I really know the characters and felt their pain, or happiness as it happened. The book ended with a cliffy but not so much that it made me want to throw my phone. They COULD have ended it at that point but didn’t and I appreciate that.

Definitely some interesting ideas with magicians as magic wielders, the abyss, mythical scary mother creatures and group sex. Wait, what? Seriously this book makes you sweat in the best of ways. M/M MMF, MMMYEAH. Book two comes out tomorrow and I so can’t wait to read it! Definitely looking more into the authors other writings!

Hello everyone out there, i want to use this medium to say a big thanks to you Dr.Abuu for the revenge death spell you helped me cast on Claudia who has been a big pain to my life, she took away my happiness and everything, she took my husband from me. Am here to say a big thanks to Dr.Abuu and to let the whole world know about your good work, I will forever be grateful to you because without you my husband would've not come back to me, I advise anyone looking for an act of revenge or how to get rid off your enemy to contact Dr. Abuu, because he worked for me and the results are exactly as he promised. This book captured my attention from the first page. My children were left to look like hobo's as I abandoned them to finishing this glorious story (don't worry my husband is capable of parenting them also) I've never really been a fan of Academy type stories, but this one held nothing back and I found myself frantically turning the pages for hours. The only thing it was missing was a sexy teacher to give out some sexy spankings, but the mystery, story and world building were so awesome, I'm going to let it slide this time. Awesome characters, badass bestie, 3 gorgeous guys with their own distinctive personalities and let's not forget the school itself, Hogwarts on sexy steroids if you ask me. I'll be hanging out for book 2!

The story is not bad and has potential, but it feels like the author is trying to hard explaining certain magical aspects (while skipping other things that could do with more indepth explaining) that it takes away from the story. Halfway through the second book I just couldn't take it anymore. For me it was to annoying and just made me not want to bother reading the rest. A shame, because I think if it would be edited with this in mind, you wouldn't loose the story, but it would be an enjoyable smooth read! Now it's just more focused on trying to get across how magic and Physics and fuck knows what else is connected and just makes my brain hurt, because I'm probably not smart enough and just want a relaxing read, which this is not that at the moment. Will try something else from this author in the future to see if they can write without that issue as I'm sure it would be enjoyable.

This was my first venture reading Academy RH and I'm so glad I took the plunge!
First, it's college... so the characters are mature. Thank ya', baby J.
Dialogue is witty and smart.
Plot flows with twists.
Characters are fleshed out for us.
The men do not treat the FMC as weak, nor is she one! She's a newbie to this magical world but willing to learn, and I appreciate that.

Overall, I'm VERY excited to keep reading this series.

Amy has lost her only family, and was planning to go to MIT, but plans change and she finds herself at Rosewilde Academy of Magical Arts. For someone who didn’t even know magic was real - talk about culture shock :) I really like Amy, Hunter, Issac, and Lucas, and her friend Serena — I think everyone needs a Serena in their life :) I’m looking forward to seeing their relationships develop further, especially with Hunter.

I loved it! It was an amazing first year at Rosewilde Acadamy Amelia is a badass main character and the guys are hot as all get out! As first Year’s go I would put mind having some study sessions with Isaac and Luke *wink wink*
I can’t wait to see what’s going to happen next, how are the guys going to hand the new situation they are being put in? Will Amelia finally get the answers she was looking for or will it all go down the tube? I need to know what’s going to happen!!!

Loved it.

So well written that you don’t notice the writing and just immerse yourself in the story. It’s rather refreshing not to have each boy have a scent or fit a particular look like ticking off types in a boy band.Although it’s an academy book the writing is mature and the characters are well rounded with a solid story arc I will definitely be reading the rest of the series

Great older academy story

This academy RH is one of collegiate age, which is a welcome respite from all of the high school academy out there. I loved this book, fell into the unique storyline and well developed world and characters. This book has magic, mystery and mayhem, along with some pretty steamy tutoring sessions to boot. I can’t wait for the next one and definitely recommend you give this a try.

Insanely good!

This book was every single damn thing. I could not put it down to save my life - or gain a couple hours of sleep lol

The world building and plot are incredible and while the romance is there it doesn’t overpower the story. I can’t wait to read book two and see how **spoiler** the arrival of a certain someone will change the dynamics of the group. I also really really need more Serena lol

I tried. I really tried to keep pushing with this book. But I can't. I can't get on with the writing, the characters. Like I've read nearly all of this book I can't tell you what's happened other than she's a summoner and something to do with Nathan. The relationship really didn't feel like it developed.

I really couldn't get on with the writing. Not for me.
I can't torture myself like this anymore. I gotta just put it down and sadly not continue with the series.

This book felt a little bit like The Magicians which drew me in. Amelia was on her way to MIT but bows she’s at a school for magic and light years behind. She makes some interesting friends, Issac, Hunter, Lucas & Serena, and tries to help them solve the disappearance of their friend Nathan.
I like the characters but the level of detail is too deep and vague at the same time. Unsure how I feel about it

This book was so good!! First, the ages: the MC and the rest are adults. College age adults!! Second, the MC is new to the world but fully capable of learning and adjusting. Her guys do not treat her like a damsel in distress and I love that!! Third, it was easy to read, interesting, and had me hooked from the first chapter. I highly recommend this book!!

This book was brilliant and well written and keeps you hooked throughout. It has an amazing MC and multiple guys to keep the storyline interesting. The Academy is a place full of trouble, especially with magic involved. You will not be disappointed reading this book, and I don't want to give any spoilers so you need to pick up this book and join the ride.

Amazing!!! This book.... I’m in love. And now I cannot wait for the next book. In a genre suddenly saturated with Academy reads (I’m not complaining. I loooove them!), this is just a little different and completely fascinating. (Not to mention yummy! M/M!) I cannot wait to see how this world progresses.

A very well crafted book that kept me turning the pages laye into the night. I loved all the world building about magical casting and how students had to really study. I hope Hunter pulls his head out of his ass soon though.the only thing that was glossed over too quickly was the magical repercussions from the final fight. What about the brand she got?? I will definitely read the next.

A spell for death

Book one in the Rosewilde Academy series. Definitely an in depth book full of magical potions and spells. Where students die and it's no big deal. I can't really go in depth without giving spoilers. The characters are interesting and there is a great character in her female bestie who is shameless and fun at the same time.

This one was hard to rate. I liked it, but found it to be long and hard to push on at times. Some things were unclear to me. What year were the boys in? Why was one of them in the freshman dorms?
Part of me wants to know what happens in the next book, and the other part can't be bothered.
Overall, a decent read.
