Will Smith met Michael Jackson a total of one time. As the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air describes in a new video on his YouTube channel, it was at the BET Awards and he was just about to meet his hero when chaos broke out, courtesy of Suge Knight. He was shoved into a closet by security, when he heard a voice from behind him say "Hey."
It was Michael Jackson, who just wanted to talk about comic books.
But, you need to listen to Smith tell the story, complete with an excellent impression of the Gloved One.
While he doesn't give an exact date, it must be early in his career, as Smith implies that at the time he was best known for Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Also, the reason for their random encounter in a closet was because of some altercation caused by Knight. The best I can find, Knight got into a confrontation with Snoop Dogg at the 2002 BET Awards, but the best evidence I can find of Jackson being at the award show since it started in 2001 was in 2003 when he participated in a tribute to James Brown.
The circumstances aren't exactly clear, but one thing is certain: Will Smith's YouTube channel is as fire as his Instagram.
