Alien Mirage by Mugler is a Amber Floral fragrance for women. Alien Mirage was launched in 2020. Top notes are Mineral notes and Pink Pepper; middle notes are Lotus and Syringa; base notes are Hinoki Wood and White Amber.

Alien Mirage and Alien Man Mirage come out in February 2020 as limited editions and new interpretations of the original Alien (2005) and Alien Man (2018). The concept of a new fragrant pair is a fata morgana: "In the vastness of a scorching desert, a mirage entrances us with its freshness after a storm, giving life to an extraordinary flower bearing a message of hope."

Alien Mirage Eau de Toilette is described as a floral-amber fragrance sublimated by an aquatic signature, that leaves a strong, clear and crystalline trail, composed of three "revelations":

- Mineral revelation, enriched with spicy notes of pink pepper
- Mirage revelation, illuminated by notes of syringa and lotus flower
- Dazzling revelation, rich in notes of white amber and Hinoki wood

Alien Mirage is available as a 60 ml Eau de Toilette.

After a bunch of outright fail or just meh blind buys, I'm so happy to have purchased this and to have renewed faith in perfume LOL.
For reference, I'm a die hard fan of the old formulation of the OG Alien and had no problem choking myself out with it years ago lol.
This scent does not directly remind me of the Alien DNA but more the vibe of Alien at first spray. It definitely has an aquatic lean but for someone who generally does not like wearing aquatics, this aspect is very wearable and turned down. Best description is that a few minutes in, Mirage is definitely a less sharp, warmer weather/lighter Alien and oh so lovely.
I much prefer this to Alien Goddess Intense, which, while having a very distinct OG Alien current through it, has a watered down je ne sais quoi. Mirage, on the other hand, at least makes a statement (not for wallflowers). And isn't that what most diehard Alien fans want?

EDIT: Moon nymph below me described this perfectly! A marriage proposal in the rain and a non typical aquatic. I may need to buy a back up bottle (only two sprays into my first bottle lol) before it totally disappears from circulation

Alien Mirage smells like a marriage proposal during the rain.
Your tears are mixing with raindrops as a wave of bliss takes over the pit of your stomach.

Another "love at first sniff" review. This is absolutely one of those just immediate "oh my god... YES" favourites.
This scent is so comforting in a "blue" way. It is deeply romantic and unique. A world apart from other aquatic floral scents.

The only bad thing about this fragrance is that it is discontinued.
My heart is broken.

stinkyfrog

absolute love at first sniff. i think it's supposed to be giving the beach, but it's more like the beach was juxtaposed on another world entirely: hidden just beyond a cavern curtained by a gentle waterfall, decorated with boundless flourishing trees and vines and flowering bushes and intensely illuminated by the sun, probably on the same planet that Dune takes place. yes - beachy and arid all at once. i can't even describe the pure magic and beauty contained in this bottle of smelly water. she's a summer scorcher for sure.

I recently spotted a bottle of Mirage mistakenly placed next to its Goddess sisters under the glass counter at a Macy's. I asked to test it because I knew it for what it really was, and even the worker did not know what it was! Mirage has long been unavailable in stores. I was smitten from the first sniff and went home after, immediately looking to purchase a bottle of this discontinued beauty. The bottle I acquired was new in box and the liquid has turned a dark golden shade, just like my old Aliens. The lavender blue ombre of the glass is still visible and looks so much better than in pictures.

Mugler smells like the Mugler of old! A unique but incredibly wearable melange of cold water and moist flowers. The original Alien EDP base is very prevalent, and it smell like the best of the CFG formulation, with a stronger sweeter jasmine and less of the golden ambery cashmere of the Thierry Mugler formulation. I think the early CFG formulation might actually be my favorite, though I still keep bottles of the original vintage too. Layered alongside are a cool, smooth lotus reminiscent of good-quality skin creams and juicy sweet syringa that reminds me of the fruity-green- white florals in Aura, another of CFG/Mugler's masterpieces. In a way, Mirage is the intersection of Alien EDP and Aura EDP because it delivers the best of both's signature florals. On top of this, though, I get a glacial, sharp mineral accord, along the lines of CK2. Definitely aquatic and mineralic but NOT like seawater a la Olympic Orchids Kingston Ferry or Nishane Boszporusz. More like sniffing river rocks that you just plucked out of the water. Compared to Alien EDP, Mirage is sweeter and fresher without being lighter, unlike prior summer flankers. Mirage is a little weird and I love it for that. However, Mirage is also very wearble. I think this is what makes it quintessentially Mugler.

Maybe my sample is getting old, I don't get any mineral notes in the opening. Instead, it opens with a aquatic sweet white floral note suspected to be the syringa. About 20 minutes later, the syringa note drops its volume, and voilà, the Alien DNA, the familiar cashmeran-amber combo! There’s a bit more ambroxan in this flanker than the OG Alien, which is probably why some people can detect the metallic notes. It shares the stage with the lotus note, which is both aquatic and slightly powdery. I get more lotus note if it's sprayed on my clothes, and on the other hand more Alien DNA if I apply it on my skin. I'm not a big fan of aquatic notes, and I didn't get any mineral notes on my skin, so I'm not sure if I want a bottle of this, but I appreciate the concept of having mineral and aquatic notes in Alien! It's like wearing Alien while walking in a traditional Chinese garden, where there are lotus ponds, mini waterfalls and artificial rock mountains. Sillage is moderate in first few hours of wearing, but the drydown is still relatively long-lasting.

This smells nothing like what people are saying. This is why you should always try fragrances out for yourself.

This is similar to Jour Hermes if you remove that bitter citrus from the beginning.

You’ve absolutely smelled this before. Its not ground breaking. This also is reminiscent of that mineral note in Alaia edp. Buy it because it’s still really freaking good

honeybunny1977

I bought this because people reviewing it said it wasnt like Alien which I dont care for. The opening of this perfume is a bit screechy & intense but it changes direction in about 20 minutes. A creamy amber intermingled with aquatic notes begins to develop. Not sure why but I cant say I enjoy the composition of these notes overall so its a pass for me.

b.a.denney

I just got this and am wearing it for the first time. Someone below commented that it reminds them of Calvin Klein's Reveal, which I really love. To me, it doesn't remind me of that at all. I'd say they have the same vibe going, but they don't smell at all alike. They both have that by the ocean type scent, maybe just different coastlines. This one to me smells more floral than Calvin Klein's Reveal for sure.

It has that same zen type quality that Avon set forth for their Haiku perfume line. It's sort of a calming type scent. I think a man could wear this despite it having floral notes. It's floral without being overtly feminine, if that makes sense. I like it, but it's not a love. I'll see how it wears throughout the day.

It just hit me what this smells like: A fresh rain hitting pavement or concrete, a smell I've always loved. It rained here in Michigan a couple days ago, and I left my upstairs bedroom to go watch the rain. My main floor level had that fresh rain smell mixed with the scent of the road (I'm not far from the road as I live in the city) and I have roses planted along the front and side of my house. This perfume reminds me of fresh rain, concrete and floral running in the background.

Peaches&Cream

I’m glad I got my hands on this. I wore this out in the rain and it made me feel comforted by the balanced notes in this fragrance. It lasts so long, sprayed on skin and it still lasted all day!! I cannot detect the notes clearly but I do smell synthetic mineral notes. This is perfect to wear during spring and summer and in the heat is great since it doesn’t cause a headache.

This is a unique perfume and I wanted to adventure out and try different fragrances, this one was a perfect purchase.

child0fthecorn

Not sure why this flanker gets so much hate, I love this scent!

To me the Alien DNA is present with a nice fresh, aquatic twist. Lighter than Alien EDP its great for warmer weather as the original scent can be overpowering in warmer months.

The opening is aquatic, peppery with mineral notes. The dry-down is lightly sweet and floral. Very happy with this purchase it will be a staple in my collection :).

Linett21

A heavy and almost disturbing pink pepper bomb on my skin with a very light touch of memories of the OG Alien. It's airy, dry and ambery. Definitely only for summer. Yet this has nothing in common with other dry salty but heavily ambery fragrances, like World Power by Kenzo. Actually I can't name any perfume that is even slightly similar to this... so it's really unique. Strange (mostly cloyingly peppery), but absolutely unique. In this sense it's worth the hype. But would I repurchase it? No, I don't think so...

qofb

To me this is not really an Alien, there's no jasmine, yet it has something that does make me think of the reformulated Alien. It's a bit synthetic purple flower, verging on a pollen like feeling with something almost smelling like bath salts with dry woods. This has a heavy dense musk too which gives it a lot of texture and a dry but slightly creamy feel.

I like this one, it's very different, not an Alien but fine, an interesting flanker. To me this doesn't smell at all natural, maybe that's why it's an Alien? I wear it in the summer mainly. It can be a little cloying at times because of the heavy feel of it but longevity is great.

luxilla

Ok, this one confuses me - it's different, for sure. The opening note almost smelled like pickles at first. When it starts drying down, I get a powdery scent, but not a normal powder - almost "static" - like the smell on an old TV if you put your face up to it. This is definitely going to need to be layered with something. Will update if the dry down surprises me or surpasses my expectations.

[email protected]

I love it! I smells so good on me! My body chemistry really likes the crisp aquatic notes in here. So delicious.

Misia Cloudy Lamb

If you expect summery, light, spatial scent it’s not that.

First, it have very obvious Alien DNA and I think that is enough to not use it in hot days.
Second, it’s creamy, almost Nivea-like creamy.
Third, I can feel in it that very strange, dull, cloying - but not by its sweetness - note, which I detected in Aura Sensuelle too.

Honestly, I am disappointed. I expected mineral, edgy scent correlating with expression of a hot rock.

Also I don’t know how they made marketing photo picturing baby blue shade of colour because in real it has nothing to do with baby blue. It’s thin line of sky blue at the bottom becoming purple gradient which is 90 % of bottle.

Isi1997

This is a great perfume to wear during the warmer months. I smell watery lotus with a bit of sweetness to it, but not sweet enough for me to call this a sweet perfume. I usually don't care for perfumes that are considered fresh, but this one I really like. It is definitely unique, so I am happy about that. Longevity on me is about 4 to 6 hours. Don't listen to the reviews that talk about an eggy smell because there is nothing that smells eggy here.

Oxidia

Super happy i managed to snatch a bottle a week ago, i must say i quite like it. I can smell alien dna, mainly because there is amber. After dry down i smell peppery amber. Is it a freshie? Well, yes and no. It is lighter than alien, but i can still smell the warmness that og alien carries. I can't smell anything overly metallic or earthy, but it does have a airy scent, at least more airy and watery than og alien. I recommend it if you are a fan of alien flankers.

Forbiddenjade

Imagine a secluded beach, somewhere with no name. Tall cliff behind, tall evergreen trees on top, overlooking the vastity of the ocean. You are sunbathing, inhaling the iodine particles lifted in the air by the never ending motion of waves gently lapping at the shore. Somewhere, for sure, white flowers must have bloomed because you definitely can pick up their scent. It lingers around light but detectable, as a kite riding the breeze.

It's a beautiful day, and you care not for the clamour of the world. You feel ethereal as the breeze, untouchable and free. Anyone looking at you right now would think in fact that you are a mirage.

Spellbounding suave.

mrsrosey65

This is really beautiful. I've seen more people say they don't see a relationship with the original Alien, but I do feel the lotus is giving off a similar heady white floral as the original and of course the amber is present. It had amazing longevity on me whereas I saw some people saying it lasted as long as a mirage did! Considering I live in FL and a lot of other "beast mode" fragrances don't do that on me, and this lasted, I'd say its one of the better scents for summer here.

mothtoaflame___

I consider this as the “original” Alien.
Odd, mineral, alluring.
This has exactly that wishful disturbing effect I was seeking in its ancestor.

Please don't judge this fragrance based off the first whiff from the nozzle. The nozzle smells like a pickle......tangy/funky. This fragrance needs time to release its absolute beauty. Its definitely aquatic with the lotus. It also has hints of saltiness that I love in fragrance. The dry down is stunning. This fragrance is definitely unique. It's fresh and floral.....aquatic and salty bur dries down powdery all without losing strength. It's strong but not overpowering. It does have a slight hint of Olympea......its the saltiness. The lotus is definitely the floral strength here I absolutely love this.

Diari

Alien Mirage: a fragile, standoffish beauty that was Clarins' good-bye kiss to Mugler.

The zing of pink pepper at the start, floral facets in the middle (chiefly of lilacs, watery-reminiscent of En Passant), and the transparent yet billowy musk of the base in this remind me of my beloved "Love, Chloe". Not many people talk about the use of musk in Alien since it's to be believed that "white amber" (aka the wonderful molecule of cashmeran) is all there is in the base notes, but I notice there is always a tiny bit of musks running through Alien as an invisible scaffolding, more obvious in those summer flankers like Sunessence, which always morphs into a ghost of Narciso Rodríguez's For Her on my skin.

Alien Mirage is markedly less powdery and appears brighter than "Love, Chloe" but still contemplative in style; offering an arresting charm in its minerality. It stands out in the Alien lineup as an odd one out, aquatic and summer-friendly but is neither citrusy nor melon-y.

nguyenvuhungvuong

Blind buy and so surprise !!! The bottle is stunning and the scent is great, love it ❤❤

Mistress Eva

Alien Mirage is so delightful to wear. The aquatic lotus and mineral notes are gorgeous and ethereal, but very present. The hinoki is perfectly balanced, but subtle. The overall composition doesn’t smell that much like the original, but it may be my favorite Alien flanker that deviates from Alien’s classic DNA. A worthy addition to a Mugler collection...or just a perfume collection in general.

amg7613

I blind bought this for the stunning bottle! I tried to talk myself out of it, but I went with the urge. I also got it for an amazing price I like the OG, yet a little too strong for me, so thought this may be a good compromise. I was absolutely correct!

I got the fresh laundry vibe upon initial spray (which is what I get with the OG Alien), and I can definitely tell the Alien DNA is there (although only ONE note, Amber, links the two).

There are glimpses of warmth with the pink pepper on top, otherwise this perfume is cold as ice. It’s sophisticated and snobby, yet oddly enough, I catch the egg scent people keep mentioning. It’s not off putting; if you know to look for it, you’ll find it.

If you want an easy, everyday wear and like the original - ignore the shade and pick this up.

crème de violette

Sharp/metallic but also clean and powdery, Mirage must be what the laundromat on the Starship Enterprise smells like. I was initially drawn to the beautiful bottle and a steep discount on the Mugler site (alas, it seems this is now discontinued), but the scent is just as captivating. It's one of my most-worn fragrances. Quite tenacious, lasting on clothes until they are washed. On skin, it lasts most of the day. The sillage is understated.

gretta

Alien Mirage = Bond No. 9 Shelter Island, add some OG Alien/copious amounts of sharp, synthetic jasmine, add a very fecal oud, and throw in some over easy eggs and you have Alien Mirage. I just scrubbed my arm for 5 minutes and the stench is still emanating off my arm. Disgusting. I cannot find one good thing to say about this fragrance other than apparently the longevity is next level. So freaking gnarly.

EllenaDsk

Probably the safest Alien among them all. Reminds me a little of CK Reveal for Her. It still has the recognizable Alien DNA, even though there is no jasmine in the composition.

xValerijax

Its like kenzo world power/olympea but less sweet, more salty and I really like it.

Hope it performs nicely!

annema

Mineral ! Yes is it. Finally a mineral perfume with guts. I can almost smell the sun heated rocks on the beach. The pepper just add more punch to that genius perfume. It's great in an heat wave since it leaves some sort of cooling and fresh scent and not overly cloying you with sweetness. I can smell the lotus but the other ingredients are just blended together. Sample before buying because this is not for everyone I think. It can surprising. The bottle is also magnificent.

AllyMage

Hands down my favorite Mugler. Has a watery sweetness like wet fruit and a sparkly mineral note. Smells cool and fresh and lovely. Matches perfectly with the bottle. I am so sad that its discontinued and is super hard to find these days. I will be keeping an eye out for bottles so hopefully I can enjoy this for the rest of my life 😂

zmuciamareto

The bottle is a work of art.
The scent though... I just couldn't get along with it. Mineral, pepper and lotus did not create a good combination for me, it was not pleasant to smell from the nozzle and quite uncomfortable and slightly suffocating to wear. It was a blind buy flop for me and after holding on to it for over an year out of loyalty to the Alien series, i swapped it away. It didn't make sense to keep it just because of how beautiful it looked.
In my opinion, this is nothing like Armani Blue Turquoise, which I adore. Armani is a salty, warm, spicy vanilla. Mirage is a metallic, sour, powdery weirdness.

Fuegogo

This is so pretty and feminine. It’s got the beachy aquatic notes but it’s also floral. Makes me think of walking on the beach smelling the ocean, with flowers in my hair. Modern and summery. It’s sophisticated smelling which I find tends to be the case with Alien flankers (whereas Angel flankers tend to be more playful and candy smelling).

crystalistheone

I put off buying this fragrance for a long time due to the bad reviews, well I found it online for a good deal and decided to give it a go. All I have to say is that it is gorgeous, it’s like the original Olympea and alien had a baby, it’s the perfect summer sent, It last about 4-6hours with a moderate projection 8.5/10

Lemxx

Crispy, smooth mineral Alien. Very gorgeous!! Perfect for summer/spring but I do think that it’s suitable for every season + every occasion. It’s light but longlasting also sillage is not bad at all!

rosebv

Alien Mirage is very very different. If you love Alien EDP you will not like and surely not love Mirage. It has a “ fresh” a little bit like an egg smell. The more you spray the more “ eggish” it will smell. But if you spray a little bit ( max 2 to 3 sprays in the neck area and 1 spray on each pulse, it is bearable. But it is not a scent to steal any show. Good for the beach only I would say or maybe to do the gardening. The bottle although is very nice. I bought this for $30 on sale so no mayor regrets for the price. It did not have a tester so it was a blind buy. Not very happy with it. Maybe I will use it also as a roomspray.

UPDATE
I have experimented with mirage since I do not like it at all on its own. I have put hypnotic poison edp as a base and sprayed Mirage over it. Actually it turned out surprisingly nice because you will smell that “ eggy” scent barely and the aquatic freshness comes out pretty nice. However this is a suggestion if you already have the fragrance and do not want to waste it. Any strong vanilla base will neutralize the eggish smell it think. But On its own -on me- the Mirage is not a nice scent.

wondervalley666

Nice, sweet, simple. Not as crazy as I expected from an Alien flanker based on other reviews. I prefer it much to a lot of similar scented perfumes, great quality ingredients, well blended. It's a soft, feminine floral scent. The mineral notes don't stand out to me, I mostly am getting a soft clean oriental floral blend. Dry down turns more into the jasmine OG Alien DNA, despite this not having jasmine in it, these florals blend to give a similar vibe. Daytime summer/spring scent for sure. I think this is a safe blind buy, it isn't as unique, wild, or distinctive as other Mugler scents, it's more or a crowd pleaser. I will enjoy my bottle, undecided as to whether it's worth the splurge to purchase a backup. I very much like the scent, I just don't know if it's "addictive."

It lasts longer than the Goddess and Fusion flankers. Probably a good 5-8+ hrs, where the other flankers disappear after 4-6 hrs. I sprayed before bed and woke up smelling faintly of this. It’s fresh, clean, and really fruity. I still can’t detect the mineral or metallic notes. I do know what water mineral and electrolyte drops taste like, but I can’t smell them here. I just get a fresh and fruity alien. I do not get an “Olympea” vibe from this scent at all, I own that one and it’s completely different to me.

soumayaela

Olympéa and Alien combined together and watered down to make it the perfect fresh and airy summer perfume
It reminds me so much or a perfume i was gifted when i was a kid, Mingshu by Yves rocher, i had a mini bottle and cherished it till the last drop! It was love at first sniff, exactly like i feel smelling Alien mirage

Nashira.torres

In love with this scent and I can’t wait to wear this in the Summer months. On my skin I get a watery airy watermelon for some reason. I’m happy I ignored all the negative reviews and decided to blind buy this. Definitely my favorite flanker from the Alien line. I purchased the mens version for my husband and that one is lovely as well. 10/10 would recommend.

Yosa

I've struggled to describe Mirage. It's just SO unique. But today during a walk while smelling my wrist obsessively (lol) it suddenly occurred to me! That unique part of the smell that's so hard to describe is something I've tasted (yes, TASTED) before... Then it came to me; Electrolyte drops you add in water! The way they taste like and even change the texture of the water, is exactly how the mineral note in Mirage smells like and even changes the 'texture' of the smell!

It's a great perfume if you don't want to wear anything too feminine or masculine. It's not fresh in a sense like some "light and fresh" perfumes are, because the mineral note gives that special 'effect' to it. It's not like fresh air, it's more like humid seaside air on a cloudy day - just without the seagulls and the sea! But it's still a fragrance you can wear casually, anywhere and everywhere.

Mirage was a blind-buy to me. I ordered Alien Fusion around the same time. I thought Fusion was the safer bet and Mirage a total gamble. But it turns out I actually prefer MIRAGE over Fusion! I can totally wear this. And I will add it to my "Easy to wear" category of perfumes, with Toy II and Light Blue.

In a way Mirage should have been a scent of its own. So if you're an Alien fan looking for a good ALIEN flanker, then this might not be for you. I do detect Mugler DNA in this, but not so much Alien DNA. This is in a category of its own, and extremely unique.

GinCatsBooks

This is so damn good!
Mirage is an apt name for this flanker and the colour of the bottle is also very fitting as well.
This beautiful blue gemstone holds a refreshing and unusual composition which, whilst it lends itself perfectly to warmer weather, is still fantastically wearable during the cooler months as well. As always with Mugler (well, pre L'Oreal..) this has an unusual note in it which is apparent all the way through the various stages of development on skin, the opening is bright and airy; mineral notes are instantly apparent and give off a "humid" vibe while pink pepper gives a sharp snap before I get a mix of lotus, syringa and this odd "custardy" floral note which then starts to smell a little bit like hot tarmac/petrol to me, I know that sounds repulsive but its oddly addictive and blends beautifully with the mineral notes, after a good 4 hours some hinoki and amber pad the base out, but the mineral petrol notes and humid feel are still very much present on my skin, there is something in this which does hint that it is indeed an Alien flanker, but I cant quite point out what it actually is, well, at least on my skin anyway.

Longevity is EXCELLENT on my skin giving 8 hours of wear with a moderate silage, there is something very typical of Mugler about this and I LOVE it, its very clear that this was made prior to CFG selling Mugler to L'Oreal, whilst I do like Alien Goddess, I am so dissapointed that this wasn't made a permanent offering and that a limited edition Alien flanker wasn't released again this year, I'll treasure every drop of this wonderful creation!

Also, any other fellow Zelda fans also think that the Alien bottles look like Rupees? will be totally honest and say that was the whole reason why I tried the OG Alien in the first place haha!

z-beads

Okay, well, I tried Mirage, although in my review of Alien Goddess I said I wouldn't bother. I blind bought Mirage, even. I was very hesitant to buy this without testing after reading all of these reviews, but I was up late and saw a partially used bottle from a US seller on ebay for a freaking steal so I went for it. FYI, this review is on my skin, not a piece of paper.

This is almost impossible to find to test, so let me help you out with a comparison: Alien Mirage is to Alien while Eau de Star is to Angel. As soon as I opened the package, Eau de Star was the first thing to come to mind, it's that similar. I instantly knew I would like it. Mirage and Eau de Star both have a marine overtone, they're both vaguely minty and watermelony, but Mirage seems more "serious" than Eau de Star. Kinda like how Alien is a bit more perfumey and socially acceptable than Angel. That said, my mother commented that my perfume smelled "sophisticated" when I was wearing Eau de Star, which was the opposite of how I felt wearing it. Eau de Star is *almost* a joke, but it is such an extremely well crafted fragrance that it can be taken seriously and worn out in the wild.

Yes, Mirage is a bit pickly for a few seconds, but after it sits a bit, Mirage takes on an airy, stony atmosphere that hovers above. You can definitely detect Alien in there, but it's subdued and sits rather quietly in the background. Mirage has that waxy camphorous vanilla that's in Alien Essence Absolue, but toned down to about 1/4th in strength - it's softer than it is in EA, but it's definitely there. And yes, it really is salty in a way, sandy, even, and it does seem to keep that stony/marine/watermelon candy vibe to the end, but it isn't overpowering. It's very well-blended, nothing feels out of place, although different facets of it glint here and there throughout the wear. It has the right balance of stickiness and airiness that a "complete" perfume should have. I also feel like this can be worn whenever, it's a seasonless fragrance in theory, but I'm not sure how everything will work in dry vs humid, hot vs cold air. Right now, it's fall and dry and it's great.

I really, really like this, and I will actually wear it. I do not regret this one in the least. This might even be my second favorite flanker (my first being Musc Mysterieux), mainly because it's so unique to the Alien line. In my review of Alien Goddess, I complained loudly about how there was simply no Alien in it, but that is not the case here. However, this may or may not make a difference, my Mirage was produced by CFG (clarins) NOT L'Oreal. I'm not even sure L'Oreal had a crack at this before it was yanked.

louiee

Lovely mineral and lotus notes on my skin.
Similiar to original Alen but much more soft and feminine.
Love the scent and love the bottle.
Like the rewierer below I tend to fall for the discontinued, this is no exception.

Mugler for the win
Silage and longevity is a perfect moderate.

VictoriaSmells

I actually like this more than original Alien.
Perhaps it is psychological, because I ALWAYS fall for a fragrance that's been discontinued. However, I actually really like those mineral notes. It boarders on salty, and I LOVE salt notes. It's like Alien was living in an old musty attic and Mirage is as if someone took Alien to a beach for some fresh air! (Not a fruity tropical beach tho).
It's a 'brighter' more interesting & spunky version of Alien (which is pleasant but a little too one-dimensional for me).

Let's put it this way; I spent a lot of time trying to hunt down a full bottle from Canada. I would not go through the same effort for Alien.

This is fun and interesting but not offensive. I can see this being a signature scent for someone. However, I don't think it performs well in *extreme* heat / humidity. Something at the bottom turns a little sour and makes my sinuses 'pucker.' But in dry weather, the vestiges of the drydown give me faint hints of vanilla, only if I bury my nose in my skin.

Sillage is strong at first, but tapers off pretty quickly. Staying power is meh. I wish it lasted a little longer, I don't want to keep respraying and use up my precious discontinued bottle!

A woman wearing Alien edp, sitting at the beach on a cold stormy day, eating cucumber salad (Sunnydai, totally agree!) with a silver fork (metallic note). Not for me, don't want to smell like any of that.

Sunnydai

My family is from the south , and my grandma would make a quick pickle or cucumber salad, with fresh from garden cucumber, tons of cracked pepper and some vinegar... I never thought I would say this but this is the perfume version of it , so odd LOL but thats Mugler !
I dont mind smelling the fragrance it's fresh and interesting , but not on my skin.

pamplemousse2

Mm, this has a rich sweet white floral element to it, as well as a stony or fresh "sea spray" kind of mineral note to it that reminds me of some late 90's/early 00's aquatic sea scents. The first time I ever sprayed this when I received it, I wasn't sure about how much like Alien it was because I was surprised by the mineral smell, but now I see the connection with a pretty strong white floral presence, even if it's not jasmine (at least comparing to the current L'Oreal formulation). I get a bit of the pink pepper and a lot of aquaticness of the lotus, too. This is a lot more rich, creamy, and sweet than I thought it would be, but also like if you were to through some sand in as well. I also smell it within 6" of my skin.

I see how this could be a cousin of Olympea, but I do not think they are *that* close. They are related, but different feelings. Olympea has a lot more sweetness and vanilla, but it does have a similar, if not more, salty vibe. Both are 'beachy' to me. Olympea was warm vanilla salty sweet with a bit of a fun sand and sea element to it. This is a lot more cold, refreshing, futuristic aquatic and salty sandy smell, with a lot more white floral, a bit more 'serene,' if you will. It's more introverted compared to it's extroverted cousin. A walk near water or ocean by a wooded area rather than frolicking on the beach.

20 minutes later and I've got to say, it smells even more like Alien. The amber starts to come out, mixing with the white floral and adding some warmth. It has gotten quite a bit lighter though, smelling it now within about 3" of my skin and it's softer on my skin with lighter projection outwards. If I was in high heat though, it might have expanded a lot more and been less soft.

30 minutes later and I smell a lot of vanilla, even though that's not listed. It's the somewhat plasticky kind, but perhaps this is just the amber. There's still a slight mineral and floral element to it, as well.

I'll see how long this lasts.

4 hours later and I still smell the vanilla-like scent decently strongly on my skin for it being this long, but it's no longer projecting. The first couple hours the scent would pop up here and there more strongly, but in the last couple hours has dropped off a lot.

11 hours later and I can still smell the vanilla scent a decent amount, but only directly on my skin. I have to go to bed at this point so not sure when it actually stops smelling, but I'm impressed with how long the lingering vanilla has been going for.

First impressions review:
This is officially my first Mugler, so I'm very excited about that! Honestly, I love this perfume. I sampled it a few times at Ulta, and ended up purchasing it.
A lot of people are saying this smells nothing like the original Alien, however I recently tried the newest (l'oreal) version of Alien just to see if it was worth purchasing. Mirage actually smells similar to the current Alien formulation in my opinion. And while Alien only lasted for a couple hours tops on a test card, Mirage lasted up to a week, so there's that.
I've never smelled the OG Alien, but I'm sure if that's what you're used to then Mirage probably smells quite different...
But I digress.

To me this is a very aquatic, beachy fragrance. Like being in Monterey on a hot summer day. The ocean air, mixed with cypress trees and blooming flowers.
The opening is salty minerals, then you get the flowers and wood. In the dry down a creamy vanillac amber comes through to give a little warmth.

I don't really know why so many people seem to dislike this so much. If you're a fan of beachy scents WITHOUT coconut or some other tropical fruit (like me) then you will probably like this. It is light, feminine, and beautiful.

Also, this sort of reminds me of BBW Saltwater Breeze. Same sort of beachy vibe, although not as nice as Alien Mirage

Siv7Stars

Peculiar little floral, almost metalic, with a load of boring old amber in it like every other new release lately. What is mineral supposed to smell like? Dusty? Wet rocks? To me it's oddly fresh n stale at the same time but it doesn't last five minutes. On me the dry down is chalky/powdery; is that the 'mineral' note? It's like maybe sand with very very faint play-doh. In general I'm not keen, it is very synthetic yet nondescript.

Domina1

If you are in South Florida, I would be glad to exchange it for another fragrance, I have a whole bottle 60 ml in the original box.

Got it few months ago but failed to like it.

bluelitzer

Let me start off by saying I love Alien and its many flankers. I love the Mugler fragrances so much I blind bought this. I was excited to try it on but when I first sprayed it, I felt a wave of nausea and had to scrub it off immediately. It's an odd combination of a non-descript metallic/mineral note and heavy "cold" MUSK. The musk killed it for me. I don’t smell anything floral or woody. If they’re in there, the musk dominated them. Try this out in person before buying. It's not a safe buy.

peonyblue

I got this as a sample when I ordered the new Angel flanker (I'm becoming a collector, apparently), and fell in love with it. It's so different from anything else I've got in my collection, with this lingering amber note that I just adore. I don't have the original Alien, so I can't really speak on how well it shows its DNA, but if it's anything like this, I'm sure I'll like it. (And I ordered a full bottle after about an hour of testing, so...there's that.)

lunarxphase

Reminds me of Olympea and I really dislike Olympea personally. So glad this was only a sample!

Edit: I may try the sample I have of this again on another day, but I’m not sure I enjoy these types of scents.

Edit 2: So, I don’t like the opening very much because I find it a little strong and again very similar to Olympea... but the dry down! I kept getting whiffs of a very nice scent and couldn’t work out if it was maybe a perfume I used another day on my jacket. Didn’t smell much like anything I have though. Finally I smelled my wrist where I had put a little of this perfume to resample and I like it! It still isn’t my favourite type of scent but I am no longer repulsed, at least

neptunebaby

I wholeheartedly agree with the comment made by BeauBelle, who described the scent as reminiscing a “tap water from lead pipes in an old house”. To me, the bold opening smells exactly like that. It is not an unpleasant smell though. Just very unique and rare. The drydown is sweet and alluring and, as expected with eau de toilette, does not last long. But on hot summer days, I believe it is a perfect scent for those who fancy mineral notes and prefer rather unique scents.

As a die hard Alien fan, I'm on my journey to explore as many different Aliens as possible. Well, this one is a nope. It doesn't have the Alien DNA, there is nothing from the original Alien in Mirage. I detect lotus, some "white flowers" and nothing metallic. It's not that bad, but it's kind of boring, and honestly quite unisex. Mirage is a good name for it. It's somewhat futuristic, if you can call a perfume that. Just not what I was looking for. Also, what's up with the salty fish smell that comes from the bottle/sample? Literally the same thing as Womanity. It smells like spoiled fish or a beach after storm (if you live near ocean or sea you'd understand what I mean). Terrible! But once it's out of the bottle, it transforms into unisex lotus. Weird!

Salvador Dali Laguna or Laguna Maravilla on the elusive diluted Alien Base

Yanana

I smell a lot of lotus on me. It is pleasant. It opens masculine and then settles to a very gentle female leaning and clean smell. I like it.

Zoisite75

I will give kudos for trying something different. Alien Mirage is unlike anything I have ever smelled. But to me it is entirely unpleasant. I really cannot understand why anyone would want to smell like this, when there are so many amazing other Alien and/or Angel flankers. It has an off putting salty, metallic smell, like walking along the beach and as the tide subsides finding a nickel, picking it up and smelling it. Yes there may be some other pretty notes that emerge later but they feel very forced, like trying to make the mineral metallic something that resembles perfume. Sorry Mugler this is a BIG miss.

BeauBelle

Have you ever smelt tap water from lead pipes in an old house? It has this wonderfully cold crisp taste and smell with just a hint of sweetness, and that is exactly the vibe the mineral notes give this perfume to my nose, it really is quite a unique scent in that sense. For me this was so nostalgic as it brought back memories of being a little girl and having a glass of cold crisp tap water on a hot day after walking to my Grandad’s house.

brumbarche

Lotus is one of the notes I steer away from. But I love this perfume.
I can still smell the lotus clearly, but the way it's done here - I can absolutely tolerate, because it's decorated nicely with that green forest freshness that pulls it up from the familiar safety of some classics in the category (let's make-up a name and call them floral-aquatic-woody-mineral) like Jo Malone Rain Black Cedarwood for example. JM feels like an interesting contemporary classic, while Mirage feels like its sci-fi counterpart from the future (I saw someone here mentions this aspect, alongside with ultra blond "Scandinavian", with which I couldn't agree more).

The lotus here is very similar to The Body Shop Fijian Water Lotus. I remember being taken by its opening, but eventually it became so aquatic in a weird sweet way to the point of being cloying. Here it's not doing that - it's made light and bright by the white flower and those mineral notes hijack all the attention ("mineral" notes are hard to imagine if you haven't smelt them before - Amouage Beach Hut has them in the same prominence - it's like grey pebbles from the beach with the salt on them, rubbed together. This "crushed granite" smell, but amplified to the point of sensing it, and then some more). Underneath it all this, though, you can capture a bit of that Alien DNA (especially the one you find in Taste of Fragrance, which has SALTY caramel). You can literally choose what to focus on in this perfume, as all accords are interesting enough on their own to engage you, while also working together.

I wore it outside today - a breezy spring day, and to my surprise, it didn't feel as I expected - in the cold it started reminding me of Avon Treselle -- a lotus&lily perfume. In fact, indoors it feels better to me. It needs a cozy warm environment or the sweetness gets trimmed down and gives way to the sharper notes, disbalancing the whole composition. Therefore, I stopped imagining it on a breezy cool beach, but I'm expecting it go shine on a humid hot evening.

If I have to summarize it to create an idea of what to expect, since it was hard to imagine this perfume clearly - it's something between Fijian Water Lotus and Beach Hut, with some added lightness, and drying down more transparently. Not a safe blindbuy, but blindbuy worthy only if you like Alien DNA (very subdued here) and those two perfumes.
If you are after the mineral notes (rather than the aquatic ones in Fijian Water Lotus or Black Cedarwood) and can't afford Beach Hut, or Armani Prive's Turquoise Bleu - Mirage is not exactly a replacement, but it surely delivers! I can see where everybody's coming from when they say it's a "salty ocean" scent but to me it's more of a "frozen silver forest". It can go either way. I'm not sure if Olympea fans are going to appreciate Mirage on its own, unless they layer them. I don't own Olympea and I'm interested to find out how this would work. I'm also thinking that to solve the cold weather issue, Kenzo World Power (the yellow eye) may come to the rescue - but it's yet to be tested. But as for layering I’m really impressed how Mirage works with Trussardi My Name - it changes both their directions in quite an interesting way.

natfran98

Intoxicating. It has the familiarity of OG Alien but it really does smell like being stood on a stone beach by the ocean. Mineral notes and aquatic flowers give that slightly salty ocean water scent. I wasn’t expecting to like it but I really do.

failedutopia

At first, smelling this from the bottle I was disappointed because it seemed like a less juicy 'Womanity,' not at all what I was expecting. but undeniably a Mugler perfume. On the skin however, it is nothing like that one - not like original Alien either. On first spray your mind goes "white floral 'x'," you know it's a white floral but you can't place which. There is an element of green burgeoning flowers before they've reached maturity, but it's made full bodied and round with a sweet vanilla-esque note. The real question...what is a 'mineral' note? The only way I can think to describe this it 'a whisper of green spicy, and very salty.' The perfume is surprisingly clean and wearable, somewhat sterile, not as punchy as a lot of other Mugler perfumes. Mugler as a swanky upscale office where everything is white marble/glass, and you can't fathom how they manage to keep everything clean and shiny. Mugler as a icy Scandinavian knock-out, with her naturally ultra light cool blonde hair in a perfect bun. A modernist, sci-fi flair. I'm surprised I like this one as much as I do, because I don't tend to like 'fresh/green' perfumes. This is that genre done right in my book. Just enough sweetness to make it work.

Lalunalynn

I have Alien Essence Absolue and this is a way softer version of it. Saying that, it is heavy, but it isn't as in your face as essence. For me it's a bit more tame and wearable, more of scent for a bright, sunny spring day. The very top is my favourite part. Sweet and floral, but it mophs almost immediately into Olympia. I've had it on for 5 hours and it's now a skin scent. At this stage it reminds me of a very subtle Aura. I like it but won't be buying a full bottle, I find it very sharp to my nose, as all the Aliens are.. I'm guessing it's the white Amber as that is the only common note?

alexandradaos

This is beautiful, but it's not special.

I don't particularly like the original Alien, but I have to admit it is one of the most technically well-executed designer fragrances available. It's unique, and it's special, and while it might not represent me, I cannot deny the excellent quality.

That being said, Alien Mirage has nothing left of the original. It's very tame, and to me smells like the love child of Dolce and Olympea - the green notes and the underlying creaminess resemble Dolce's aquatic flowers with salty almonds, the sweet and salty aspect is a total Olympea rip-off.

It's an easy to like scent, but I do not see it worn in summer, as it's somehow heavy. Very synthetic too. It's nothing to write home about, and if you have Olympea, an Olympea dupe, Dolce, a Dolce dupe, or any other sweet and salty, aquatic contemporary offering, you don't need this.

As with all Mugler fragrances, longevity is very good, sillage is moderate. Don't go hunting this on ebay for extortionate prices, as it's not really worth it.

tamatomoca

I grabbed this at Sephora, given the interesting notes and the beautiful packaging.
At first spritz, it reminded me of the creamy vanilla of Paco Rabanne Olympéa, at which point I was a bit dissappointed.

After sitting at the window, looking out at the -10 degree cold world outside, the metallic coolness of this perfume hit me. It is indeed a peek a boo perfume, where scents waft up and go away unexpectedly.
Therefore, named aptly, Mirage.

A scent fit for an ice queen glistening in the crystaline Winter sun.

JaeIsFancy

Im truly a novice at describing scents however this truly is pleasant and refreshing. It reminds me of waterfalls and aquatic flowers. It has a soft amber ans powder dry down. It’s very comforting and pretty. Projection is pretty good, it won’t fill a room however people aground you will smell it. I’m so sad that my favorite Mugler frags are all LE. I’m going to hoard them if I can. I’m sure this bottle won’t last me long and the bottle itself is lovely to look at.

Domina1

I’ve never smelled the original Alien or any other flankers. This is my first Mugler’s fragrance. I blind bought it basing on the notes listed and reviews.
It is bizarre fragrance but in a good way. May be all Muglers perfumes are like that?
Mineral notes and lotus are the first you smell a lot. And syringa I guess. The smell is very light, airy, floating like a mirage in the dessert. Notes play around, replacing each other like in a game. Then in 30 min someone heavy emerges - hinoki wood with amber notes I guess. These notes can become overwhelming in cooler weather, I noticed in warmer temperatures that wooden notes gets softer and less suffocating in me.
In 1.5 - 2 hours all notes balance out and settle down. Woods are lingering on the back seat and lotus with minerals and syringa sit tightly and quietly together. Very interesting perfume. It is not perfume “on any occasion” but in appropriate day and environment it is fun to wear.

acali21

I love this! I am an overall Alien fan. This definitely has the original Alien DNA. You can definitely smell the pink pepper and mineral notes in the opening which I love. I can really smell the lotus in there too. This could be worn in the spring or summer easily.

kobylnice

It's similar to original Alien, a bit more aquatic fresher and white floral version when opening. However I find it too flat and boring (as well as Alien). No exciting notes, just lots of heavy(ish) vanilla powdery scent sitting on my skin for 6 hours.

Liz-frag

I accidentally spread this on my fingers today ( okay folks I don’t like Alien , you are prevented , but I have been attracted by the bottle and the name ) .
That is honestly better smelling than the original Alien to my nose . Less uriny, the mineral side is quite nice, the only problem is the Alien DNA .
TWO PERSONS COMPLIMENTED ME ON THE STREET IN 30 MINUTES TIME .
That must be really compliment getter !
And I washed myself two times ( without considering all the handwash things ) its still on me ... good to know for the persons interested .
But ho lord I can’t stand this alien DNA that is in the top notes and this smell I smell on everyone in the dry-down .

lscsmith21

I received my bottle of Alien Mirage today and despite reading so many reviews I was still totally surprised upon first spritz! I don’t smell much (if any?) of the original Alien DNA. Its floral, fresh, ozonic and aquatic.. perfect for warmer weather. Very refreshing and I can see this being worn by women and men. It’s not love but a strong like!

Tolkashutka

There's a reason @SailorV has a big fat bouquet of balloons.

I agree with everything she said except the last paragraph, because here in the good ole US of A, I bought 2 bottles, 5 days apart directly from Mugler USA at 40% off with a little too much ease. I bought it, loved it, and decided I needed a back up ASAP because the words "Last Chance Sale" alarm me into thinking they're going to do something dumb like discontinue this masterpiece.

I love me some acquatic scents, and this doesn't disappoint. The vanilla + sea salt combo reminds me of Olympea, but much more well executed and balanced (sorry not sorry Mr. Rabanne). For an EDT, the longevity is impressive, around 5-6 hours.

Blind buy and back-up bottle worthy.

Cosmina07

Weird, I can not describe it, i can not find any similarities. I hope it will work in the summer.

Suus

I love Alien edp and Alien essence absolue. But this one... I can’t detect any Alien dna at all. To me it’s a aquatic flancker of Olympea by PR.

SailorV

What a rare gem. Usually most lighter, summery Alien flankers are basically Alien lite + another fresh fruity or floral note. Which is not a bad thing, but a little predictable. Mirage is different.

It has some of the Alien DNA, but less of it than other fragrances from this line. And it goes through different phases. In the opening it's most recognizable as one of Mugler's Aliens, but also very aquatic and mineralic. Lovely fresh lotus and other light florals lift the scent, while the mineral notes remind me of wet stones. The scent paints a serene, calming scene of a spring in the woods surrounded by flowers. But there is also the amber, or should I say vanilla? Because I honestly don't get much of a balsamic note here, just creamy, cool vanilla. Like ice cream. Hinoki woods play hide and seek, sometimes the scent turns quite green and woody, and then I don't that at all.

At times Alien Mirage shows similarities with Mugler Aura, but less sweet and without the fruitiness. In other moments it's salty and creamy, reminiscent the drydowns of fragrances like Rabanne Olympéa and CK Reveal.
It's a cooling scent with a warm background hum. Ideal for spring and summer, but it still smells nice now in fall and it seems like it lasts longer today than when I sampled it in the warmer months.

This is so hard to find and rare in Germany, neither Douglas nor Galeria has it, only Müller. Is it like that in other countries too? If so, what a bad decision, this is the best lighter flanker of Alien I have smelled so far.

TheAliGonzo

This should have gotten so much more attention, and been marketed much better. It's honestly a gem in the Mugler range and their most unique Alien yet. When I wear this I cannot help but sniff myself..I must look ridiculous xD It oscillates between coldness and warmth..Upon first sniff you get an impression of sea air, and with the dry down you get a soft, almost fluffy vibe that I have heard discribed. With all the attention that fragrance in general has gotten, in part due to quarantine and lockdown making a lot of us stir crazy and more apt to blindbuy, this really could have been a smash...Eau Croisiere as well...shame.

For a general summary, this is a must-sniff. You will smell feminine, but an interesting and layered feminine. Marketed for summer, but the amber and wood base notes could carry this throughout the year. Backup worthy, I must say.

Nose_Bleed

with a name like mirage and top voted notes mineral and hinoki youd expect something more daring and experimental, bur really all you get is a nice feminine slightly woody ambery. too nice and too boring sadly.

mellyv1973

I guess I'm excited because my husband enjoys this on me as much as I do. It's a crisp, clean version of Alien. The mineral & floral notes are prominent on my skin. This has a moderate sillage with moderate longevity. I think this is best worn during the Spring & Summer. I really like this flanker!

sakura28

This is a clean version of alien with the addition of a cold vanilla. It is pretty and feminine with that special alien twist. Simply put: smells like a daytime version of alien + cold vanilla. Beautiful!! Lasts long in my skin.

The DNA is true to alien, which I love, so it still feels a little oomph when I wear it. Yes the notes are different, but somehow still smells like alien when I compare them when they begin to dry. Maybe the amber.. Not sure how that happens.

I would say Mirage is more 'comforting' as a scent. Bright + airy, but warm at the same time. It has a underlying sweetness because of the vanilla, but not sickly sweet at all. I love this more as it begins to dry down and settle into my skin, and as it drys down it reveals more sweetness in contrast to the beginning which is a more alien with a mineral/solar twist. I mostly smell it when I sniff the bottle, kind of sun screen vibe, but this part doesn't really appear on my skin. I really appreciate it and the whole soft journey. I recommend this for spring/summer mostly but can be worn year round.

I'd say it's definitely less 'weird' than when I think of mugler. It is more mainstream, easy to take in. Day/night all year round no fuss. I feel that I smell unique, but I'm not worried about offending anyone or coming on too heavy.

It lasts around 7-8 hours on me which is long lasting enough for my preference. I've noticed it lasts wayy longer on my skin compared to my other flankers that are in the same vibe group Flora futura, fusion, extrodinare. Often I put mirage on before bed, and I still smell it in the morning. Any of the other flankers I mentioned are gone before morning when I have used it for bed.

Beautiful bottle!! The picture does not do it justice. It's a purple to light blue ombre from the bottom to top. Gorgeous.

If you like clean airy scents + vanilla, and the original alien is a bit too strong for your senses, this one is a beautiful option and easy blind buy. However, if you like very bold scents (aliens: oud, musc, etc), and you don't like anything that is softer or "mainstream" than the original alien, you will probably not like this.
I brought 4 backup bottles. Yup. I'm obsessed.

ashley7723

I'm a huge Alien fan and own most of the flankers as I can't help myself when it comes to the perfume and brand. What I love most about most of the flankers is that they stay true to Alien in one way or another. Some may see this as a flaw but to each their own, right? Out of all the flankers I own, this strays from the Alien DNA the most. It's taken awhile for it to warm up to me but I'm starting to enjoy it after having it a few months, it's an odd ball, but what else do you expect from this house? For those of you that blind bought and are disappointed and love the original Alien, try laying the two, the smell is really beautiful and is my preferred way to wear it.

manualdifferential

It’s weird that this didn’t get more hype, I love it. Honestly I wasn’t expecting it to be as perfect as it is. The bottle is gorgeous. The longevity is pretty good, 6 hours at least before starting to become a skin scent. And the scent is beautiful. It’s definitely much sweeter than I was anticipating, which for me is a huge plus. The sweetness seems like a crystalline sugar, with a hint of vanilla. It’s not at all cloying or headache inducing. The aquatic vibe was also surprisingly attractive to me. I personally am not a fan of sunscreen or tropical leaning aquatic notes, and this seems to be more of a freshwater aquatic. Not swampass freshwater like a pond, but maybe like a spring, with fresh cypress like notes, and a very interesting floral that I associate with a lotus. It ties together beautifully, and I haven’t smelled anything similar. It’s not laundry, soapy fresh, to me it almost is like cold spring and mineral fresh. I can’t add anything else that’s helpful at this point, but I can’t say enough about how much I love this. I would encourage everyone to sample it if the opportunity arises.

darbyki18

I blind bought this fragrance. Upon first sniff, I wasn't as keen, but to date I am in love. It's easy to love, slightly sweet, a bit salty, soft alien dna and what I like to refer to as a bit of cotton blossom by bath and body works thrown on top. It slightly sweet and savory and is great for Spring and Summer. The scent is addictive. I'm enjoying this so much as an alien flanker. The bottle is gorgeous. I will definitely repurchase when I run out!

LateBloomer

It's 95 degrees today and this scent is a delight. Salty floral aquatic that is far reaching and long lasting. I get none of the pepper or the wood, just a beautiful breezy beach scent with flowers - salty and cool and sweet.

labradorite

I bought this back when it came out, in February or March. I didn't like it one bit. It was sharp and overwhelming with that distinguishable sweet scent that's called "salt" these days.

Turns out, Alien Mirage is very sensitive to heat. Now, in the middle of summer, it's a completely different story. I can properly enjoy the mineral notes along with the syringa and the watery lotus that makes the saltiness likeable.

It's still very sweet on me, but it's a bearable kind of sweetness that isn't overwhelming in the summer heat. I wish I got more of the hinoki wood, but I'll happily exchange it for the fact that, thanks god, I get none of the pink pepper either.

tandem_4x4

I got my bottle yesterday - blind buy.

I understand Alien's fans - it has not Alien DNA at all, however it is still "alienish" in the concept: it is cold, metallic and aquatic floral.

I think those who like L'Artisan Parfumeur and Bertrand Duchafour may like it too. It is very modern and niche spirit. A new representation of summer aquatic. Better than Aura.

And absolute unisex.

KitKat

I am huge huge alien fan and this one is my least favorite ever... I just can't deal with the aquatic note. Bottle is absolutely beautiful

rachcookk

I am completely obsessed with this! It's
a fragrance that I have been waiting for without realising it. It's beachy, salty, interesting and pretty. Smells very familiar but I can't put my finger on it...

Mc1995

It’s nice I like it! Beachy version of Alien with no jasmine but still warm and sexy, yet a bit fresh on the opening. It’s like a lighter version of Tom Ford Orchid Soleil(even though no similar notes) I’ve not smelled Lou Lou Blue yet, apparently this is very similar, I get Orchid Soleil and Donna Karen Cashmere Mist, mixed. It’s good!

Palmee

Omg this is absolutely beautiful and addictive! Love the gorgeous blue transparent bottle. The perfume is so divine and slightly mysterious. So summery but also very sultry. I love the mineral note, smells quite metallic but in warm fuzzy way. Love it, love it, love it! I'm buying a back up bottle of this for sure.

It also really reminds me of Lou Lou Blue an aquatic floral, which I owned over twenty years ago but now sadly discontinued. I'm over the moon to find Mirage that smells so very similar.

FunkyTomo

Got it as a present, but a bit "meh" to be honest. Going to swap methinks!!

Michylaka

Fluffy is the correct word to describe this feminine new scent by Mugler. It is all so refreshing with very pronounced Mineral notes and the added main floral Syringa note. The moderate Woody-Lemony Cypress note gives a nice Earthy vibe as well.

I really love the Lotus in this. It is balancing and beautiful with its botanical, watery, floral essence. On my skin the Amber is quite noticeable on the dry down which is light and not at all heavy. The Pepper in this is also very light but it is detectable which to me is great for balancing this otherwise otherworldly composition.

I at first ordered a sample from Mugler.com. I loved it so much I have ordered a full bottle because I know this will be reached for often in Summer. Especially for night time here in humid Florida. It sort of reminds of Guerlain's Aqua Allegoria Line but with better performance.

The sillage is huge at first becoming more moderate on the dry down. The longevity is excellent considering it is an EDT. I highly recommend this to anyone wanting a refreshing, balancing yet alluring fragrance. A definite 10+.

Germany

@ Matthra , your review is perfect , I feel identical to your thoughts. I absolutely think that it’s much more of an aura flanker , especially Aura sensuelle minus the green note minus the spicy cinnamon.
This flanker is heaven , fluffy sweet cloud , almost almondy but in an airy fresh way with a mineral note. I do not see a relationship to Alien at all. I do like alien but I can’t see it here. I may get a back up bottle before this runs out. Too bad it’s only a summer flanker. It almost feels like it’s a cotton ball !

nadiadncr

I saw it at Macys sprayed it on and then ordered it from Mugler's site. It's beautiful. It's fresh and airy but also has the Alien dna in the back. Longevity excellent stayed all day on my hand even after shower. I love it.

This is like a lighter, tropical version of the original Alien. I haven't got a chance to smell much of the Alien flankers, I've only smelt Alien Fusion which smelt almost exactly the same as the original. But this is gorgeous, and I daresay better than the original which can smell like plastic.

This actually smells like an ocean. The opening smells like cucumber but it dies down, the salty mineral note becomes more prominent but there's still that sweet freshness. This is probably one of the few aquatic perfumes that manage to last long, the sillage is just right.

I couldn't help myself, I just had to buy it. It's a shame that this only limited edition.

Upon first sniff, I instantly went to Aura. This is definitely Aura light or an early version of Aura.

For the first time, I do not smell “the alien” in an Alien flanker. I know a lot of people have said they see no point in Alien flankers because they are usually so close to the original. Well, with this they got their wish. Nonetheless, Alien Mirage is a very beautiful composition.

The florals in here definitely allude to a fresh and aquatic feeling, obviously perfect for spring and summer although I believe you can wear whatever whenever. It’s fresh; it’s clean; it’s inoffensive. It also has a nice musk to it. It should make you happy when you wear it.

Longevity is average on me; that's kind of typical for Alien eau de toilettes. If you're an Alien fan, this is a no-brainer pick up, especially with this themed bottle and limited edition moniker.

Oh this is a LOVE for me ! at first we have that sea breeze rain mist, but right underneath we get the Alien signature amber, minus the jasmine...I do not find it peperry at all..for me this is a version that stands out, a mix of warm and fresh, and not like fruity fresh, more like a warm breeze by a tropical garden..,it has a touch of a unisex moment, it is short lived...this has a bit of Aura also, and reminds me of Extase Nina Rocci in the marine vibe, this is different, interesting, my husband thought it smelled very nice...although it doesn’t project with strength, it lingers good, with a smooth salty amber..the lotus flower stands out , and mixed in with the amber, it is a delightful mix..I can’t believe some find it generic...no, it isn’t..all the flankers so far have been interesting, and this is actually a great smelling perfume.
UP DATE: it developed a unisex marine undertone on me, so I gave it to a friend..

It is Alien EDP without the sweetness of Jasmine... ie. it lost the heart of Alien because for me Alien without Jasmine is not Alien... there is no vibrancy, no attention grabber ingredient...

I got this today & I love it. It’s got a sweet note to it at first almost cucumber like, This settles down to the same smell as alien body lotion on me which is Basically a light version of alien. I’m not doing this scent any favours with my description but I can’t pin point what I feel about it other than love it. It lasts all day on me too. I really like it & the bottle colour is gorgeous in person. Definitely worth buying & for me this is the best flanker for alien I’ve ever had & I've literally had them all.

Rose du soir

Said to be "online exclusive" on the French Mugler store, but I found a tester of this at Marionnaud.
The bottle looks stunning. Many shades of intense lavender blue, which remind me of tanzanite, my favorite gem stone.
As for the fragrance itself, it's definitely an Alien. The opening is quite similar to Alien EdT without the fruit and with extra vanilla. It's quite sweet and I can't detect the aquatic notes. Pretty intense too, and stays so for a couple of hours and then becomes moderate in sillage. It evolves to something reminding of Flora Futura, but more complex and not as intensely synthetic. This is where the "mineral" notes show up, very progressively. It's a combination of fresh, bitter woody notes with vanilla. It seems to be the same base notes as Aura EdT, with less green and more floral top notes. This is when I went to sleep, 6 hours after spraying. When I got up, Alien Mirage was still there as a skin scent. It smelled just like Aura EdT, bitter woods and fresh vanilla.
This is an interesting fragrance for Spring, Summer and Fall. It has a bright feel, like sunshine after a Spring rain shower. A safe blind buy only for those who like both Alien and Aura, as the fresh woody base might be polarizing like Aura is.

This is indisputably an Alien, with the salty ozonic effect of the original amped to the max. Here though, we have very 'tropical' types of flower, I cannot say I know what syringa or lotus smell like so that is the best I can offer.
It's a strange one as the flowers that gradually become smooth, sweet and powdery stay close and soft, but you get these marvellous waves of the salty sea air blowing in, especially when worn outside.
It's not massively long-lasting, about five hours in there's a whisper of amber and woods left on me.
I like it, but I think it's more for summer, so I'll save the sample 'til then to see if it's FBW.

I was so excited when I saw this beauty in Debenhams (UK).
To me it is not much of an Alien to be honest, as it smells somewhat generic. It reminds me of Flora Futura flanker with a very prominent note that to me smells like cucumber surrounded by sharp floral.
It lasted on paper strip all day, so the longevity seems to be really good for edt.
Spring - summer scent, not offensive and quite nice.
But to me it's a Like so far, not a Love.

I totally blind ordered this because I like to collect Aliens. The colour of the bottle and the promise of aquatic freshness did it for m. It does what it says, but as others have said is not very Alien-y. There is a faint note that reminds me of Aura and it is definitely persistent!

Lust87

Alien Mirage appears to be quite heavy on the pink pepper which is strongly present throughout the life of the fragrance on the skin and smoothly balances the floral, aquatic element. The composition evolves from an airy, fresh but spicy opening to a soft, warmer, slightly salty base where the aquatic accord is still quite prominent but milder and toned down. This version seems to be rather soft with moderate sillage during the first hour but it's quite persistent which makes it an interesting alternative for spring and summer. Alien Mirage doesn't seem to have the Alien DNA, it might have as well been launched as a separate, new addition to the Mugler family.
My review is based on a couple of manufacturer samples which I have received a couple of days ago.
