#574 in my "Tour de Fragrance"

This is not unisex or even close. I associate these kinds of fruity, super powdery florals with very mature women. It comes off like the peony scented bath powder my grandmother used. Reminds me somewhat of Glossier "You" and Gritti "Gossip Night". The notes are different, but the floral body powder character is the same. I've encountered these kinds of women's scents during my trials, largely by accident because they're listed as unisex, though in what world a man would wear this I have no idea, and I know no women who wear anything like this.

But down to the scent. I'm not picking up coconut, but I'm sure getting fruit and a massive orchid note. After a couple of hours this wasn't fading out so I scrubbed it off before going out, not wanting to smell like this around anyone that knows me. So it obviously will provide good longevity, and it does project, but again, it mostly projects that flowery bath powder smell that I don't want to smell on myself or any woman.

TabledThoughts

Musky..ambery..candied fruits.
At full drydown it kinda smells like an orchid.
My intro to Mancera and, for me, a disappointment.
I think it has been discontinued but still available through Fragrancex.

Lovescents3

Sweet fruit salad and amber. Tropical feel with something that smells pleasantly like banana. The coconut is not distinct to me. It more gives a slight lactonic feel.

Lasts and projects for 3 or 4 hours. Not a beast by any means.

Enjoyable daytime wear for all year round.

OmtzBarbara

My favourite Mancera fragrance! It is the right balance between lactonic, floral and fruity. Sweet but not overwhelmingly sickening sweet.

Whateverwhocares

Nice, post shower fruity vibes. Pronounced coconut note. Can seem weak but it’s a performer. Smells a little bit like a makeup bomb. Leans feminine. A bit of an orchid body wash scent.

FBRADLEY

I get no coconut in this fragrance at all, which is why I blind brought it based on reviews that it smelled of coconut. I do get woody and lactonic off the top. I do get peach and vanilla. I do like this perfume but I can't spray too much of it because of the lactonic notes, too much makes me nauseous. For me the lactonic notes of this stays on me all day. I applied this morning at 7:30am and it is now 4:30pm and its still going strong. I do not have to dig my nose in my skin to smell this. The performance for me is crazy good. This was a good blind buy.

AryanasPerfumes

It’s a pleasant surprise. It’s pretty safe, coconutty in the beginning and creamy, with oud in the background but with a lemony feel, it dries down to an oud vanilla comforting musk. Smells clean.

lmnsvgz

The orchid notes adds a bit of vanillic creamyness to the tropical note of coconut. The fragrance is a bit deep so I believe it could be an all year round fragrance. It is extremely likeable, kind of reminds me of Beyonce Heat Wild Orchid.

kkk

Unfortunately it's not my cup of tea.
It's very very powdery on me from the beginning to the drydown.
Wish it was a littlebit more creamy - if you know what I mean...

Coalita

Very beautiful. Peachy coconut with woody notes. Beautiful and deep perfume. Creamy and sweet. Very good for that price. Very good for autumn and winter.

EdwinNijboer

Blind bought it, it's amazing very clean. In my opinion it smells like fresh coconut shampoo. I would recommend this to everybody!

Ferra_Verto

A very autumnal take on a summery tropical coconut blend. Lovely balance of sweet and woody, the vanilla is lovely and flowery.
Sits close to the skin, lasts around 5-6 hrs. Fitting for cool weather.

EmpressVision

Awesome blend. I typically don't care for coconut notes but here it's so pleasant to my nose! 🥰 Doesn't come off as sunscreen or typical summer only coconut. It doesn't have the typical nuclear radiation of Mancera but I don't mind. It smells smooth, creamy, slightly sweet & floral. It calms me. 😌 Lovely vanilla-tinged musky dry down. Soft elegance. Versatile enough to be worn day or night, all year round. Lasts 8+ hours. 👍🏾

Gypsie67

I love the smell, I just wish it was stronger, and performed better.(Like most Manceras) Maybe after it sits for a while! Love the opening, and the coconut note! To amp it up some, I layer AO with Mancera Holidays. Great combo, and really brings out the notes in Aoud Orchid. Definitely one of the softest Manceras I own. Non offensive, and safe for any occasion. Very pleasant soft fragrance, and can be worn by anyone! Totally unisex IMO.

allthatis_barelythere

Aoud Orchid begins surprisingly softly with a smooth, sweet fruity floral. It reminds me of some of the designer fruity vanilla florals. Unfortunately, this doesn’t last long and it quickly turns into something very unpleasant that reminds me of clean nappies for some reason? It even has the slight powderiness. To be fair, I haven’t smelt a nappy in a very long time, so I have no idea if that’s accurate. Now that I know there’s coconut in there, I think that may be what it is. To me, it doesn’t smell coconutty at all. It’s not awful - some of the notes are still very pleasant, but I’m unlikely to sample again.

SophiaG

Sampled this alongside two other coconut fragrances (I'm looking for a new coconutty summer scent), and smelled this immediately after Serge Lutens Bois Vanilla and Versace Crystal Noir and was taken aback. The coconut is not exceptionally prominent, and the opening seemed dusty and made me uncomfortable. It's certainly more fruity than I expected, but as it dries down, the coconut comes to the forefront and it turns into a really intriguing clean-but-creamy fragrance.
Bois Vanilla ended up being an unusual cold weather coconut, and Crystal Noir is more green than I was looking for - while Aoud Orchid was my least favorite upon initial spray, I think this might be the one I will end up owning.

Edit: it's not bad, but it has a Play-Doh kind of vibe when you smell it up close. It's definitely unique but after three wearings, I won't be buying a full bottle.

BASMAJ

Tested this yesterday it smells EXACTLY like Palmer's coconut hair conditioner E X A C T L Y! I don't mean anything negative by this comparison its a very nice smell but linear and very common coconut smell..candles, creams, oils but most of all a perfect copy of the hair conditioner which I used for years... nothing special at all as niche fragrance! And there is NO orchid in this! 0% I know orchid very very well particularly the real thing 0% in this! I only got a nice luxurious creamy coconut smell... fancy coconut smell..get it if you like coconut scent...I need to buy that conditioner again because it's one of the most amazing hair conditioners I ever used...I highly recommend it.. thanks Mancera for reminding me👍

Scrapie

This one is unusual, in a really good way. The opening is what you would expect considering the notes. The interesting magic begins a few minutes later. My first thought is that this is a weak fragrance. It quickly amps up on my skin. I smell well executed coconut first, and not much else. Once the dry down begins, I smell fresh peach. As time passes, I get whiffs of coconut ,peach, and that beautiful orchid, but at different times. This is the unusual part. The scent seems to alternate between these notes. I love this! The orchid is neither masculine nor feminine. The best example is: Riding a bike in the summer and passing a honeysuckle bush (this doesn't smell like honeysuckle, this is an example of what I feel) and smelling a beautiful aroma that elevates your mood. You don't think of gender, only how good you feel smelling nature's artwork. This is what I get from this fragrance. This is a work of art in the same realm as nature. I don't detect much aoud, but I don't consider that as a negative in any way, considering the beauty of this masterpiece. This is a special fragrance that I feel could be worn by anyone anytime. Absolutely wonderful and should be in everyone's collection. Blind buy? By all means!
UPDATE:
Wore this to work. A woman I work with asked what I was wearing that smells SO GOOD. She normally doesn't like strong fragrances. I refrain from the stronger ones on days when we work together. She came in today to cover for someone, and I was concerned that she might find this one too strong. She LOVED this one, saying how clean and fresh it smells.

floszra

It's like Versace Crystal Noir and Miss Dior Absolutely Blooming had a strange baby with some genetic mutation that causes a strong orchid side smell. It has the same shaving foam vibe like Absolutely Blooming and the coconut note is like how it smells in Crystal Noir. Decent projection and lasting power.
I quite like it, but I'm not in love.

OhTheParfum ♥

I kind of agree with @Farmgirl1979 Aoud Orchid wasnt what i expected at all as well, thought it would be a much more stronger niche version of TF Black Orchid or something in that genre , or to at least have an obvious orchid note and some sort of very present oud note which makes me question the name of the fragrance, it is stated that it has an orchid note but its very soft, not light but soft, its like they soaked orchid's leaf in warm water, so it is far from the sparkly orchid or a dark orchid, its in between! and the oud here is so very smooth which gives this fragrance more character and attractiveness.. a soft orchid note and a smooth oud is it cause the warm coconut+peach notes r overpowering? may be.. then again the white musk is listed in the notes but barely noticeable, the dry down screams out a combo of vanilla and patchouli..u might get some ambery vibes when it becomes a skin scent.. this one is a proper niche fragrance! Overrall, its a nice perfume! kind of unique but not so much, the opening might remind u of a few frags but the dry down takes it to another direction.. do i love it? not much, do i like it, yes! am i gonna buy it again i dont think so! definitely sample or decant before u buy! ive heard a lot of positive things about Aoud Vanille and that it is much better than this so im definitely going to try that one asap..
For the ppl asking about the performance well its very good, its in my top 10 strongest mancera fragrances! great longevity, enormous sillage with 4-5 sprays (based on my own personal experience) its preferably not to wear it during the day and at the office, definitely a winter fragrance..

Kylix

It's the feminine version of Cool Water Intense. Clementine, coconut, wood. Better balanced, but the same vibe.

Farmgirl1979

I blind bought this based on the previous reviews and youtube videos. Somehow it wasn't what I expected. It is less floral and sweet, and more woody. It is more masculine than the reviews state, but is a beautiful fragrance none the less. I get the orchid, patchouli, and wood, but can't pick out any of the other notes.
I decided to layer this with more 'girly' fragrances, and is STUNNING to layer with. Today I layered it with Dolce Garden, and it was amazing.
So, if you like more feminine fragrances, test it first. If you like unisex or masculine leaning ones, this one is lovely.
It becomes a skin scent on me after about 4 hours of wear. Nothing lasts on me though, so this did pretty good.

scensitive

tippy top floors of tropical towers. warm breezes sheath through billowing linens cascading cathedral scaped verandas. a rock garden clanks with thick droplets of sweet spring water gilded with leaves of gold and graced with palm perched orchids. a teak chaise creaks and steams from 12-2 when the sun is high and evaporates against the pool ever so gently.

kkaattjjeess

Pleasant, lovely, inoffensive.

Received this perfume through a swap, I was glad to get rid of another Mancera I wasn't liking (the overhyped Velvet Vanilla), and this seemed right up my alley based on the notes and reviews on here.

I'm not disappointed, the fragrance is great and well done, the first time I tried it, it seemed to familiar, like I smelled it before, maybe it's very similar to a more popular perfume. It's hard for me to detect the notes separately, as it's so well blended and balanced. The only thing about it that didn't impress me is the sillage, I expected it to project like no other (I mean like most Manceras), but in fact this is quite tame and quiet, which is such a shame as this is probably a crowd pleaser.

Science&Scents

This was the only "WOW" Mancera has gotten from me. I sampled around 20 of the Mancera creations and this is the only one that is full bottle worthy. But man, is it good!

That synthetic (salt?) note is there but dialed waaaaay back. The fantasy orchid note is everything! There's definitely oud but it's a supporting note. The coconut is a sweetened coconut--sweet and creamy. I'd be hard-pressed to say there was no vanilla accompanying that coconut note. It's tropical but not overly friendly--like how people describe Crystal Noir as "bitchy". AO is much warmer, though, and sensual. I get more of the sweetness in winter but that maybe because of the heavy and spicy frags on rotation (to be fair). Just so good and blended well! There's not one thing that overly sticks out for me.

Awesome longevity (8+ hours) and soft projection (arms length). Sillage is wonderful! Very "come hither but come correct."

Two thumbs up on this one!

olga.stratienko

Wow what a crowd pleaser. Such a soft feminine perfume, so subtile, not offensive at all (which Mancera can easily be). Everyone around you will like it. Heavenly!!!

This coconut is so wel done. It’s not the coconut body cream kind of smell or something, but more the Bounty-like coconut (the chocolate bar). The coconut bar we all like! And then there is a bit of peach. Tropical vacation feeling, definitely gets you in a better mood :) lovely. A woody fruit basket with peaches in it served with a pina colada.

The drydown reminds me of velvet vanilla, just as soft, sweet, very pleasant. I own both of them. The orchid is coconutty and velvet vanilla is flowery. Both have a lot of vanilla.

9,5/10

Upd; my love has been grown on this beauty. It’s a comfort scent, the coconuts are driving me crazy, constantly thinking of a vacation at the Caribbean’s. Versatile for sure. All season.

Vanillastorm40

This may be a stupid question based on the name of the frag but are the Woody notes oud? I'm interested in this but I can't take any oud.

blake.lee

Pleasant enough. However, I own Sensual Orchid by Laurent Mazzone which is similar but more interesting and multifaceted. You could read my review for Sensual Orchid instead and you’d still understand what this smells like but it’s lighter, a touch more powdery and has no cedar in the dry down like Sensual Orchid. I used to think I’d like SO better without the cedar but it turns out not to be the case.

Mancera Aoud Orchid opens with a moderate projection of very sweet, fruity, floral and ambery notes. The opening is gourmand, delicious, and very pleasant. The fragrance combines mandarin orange, peach, and coconut; the mandarin is slightly above them. The orchid is a soft, white floral note, aromatic and delicate; the patchouli is a faint touch almost unnoticeable. The vanilla is a base note but its sweet and aromatic scent comes up as soon as the fragrance is applied. The amber adds a sweet and resinous touch which adds projection to the fragrance, the woody notes are support notes, faint; similarly, the white musk is a projecting accord without adding a noticeable note. The fragrance is relatively linear, except for the mandarin orange, the featured notes come up immediately upon application and continue into the dry-down; the mandarin orange losses most of its initial intensity. Once Mancera Aoud Orchid has reached its full dry-down, it can be summarized as a moderate to soft projection, very sweet (vanilla), fruity (coconut, peach), and orchid fragrance with ambery and soft woody notes. The fragrance feels comforting, delectable, delicate, elegant, exquisite, faint, fine, white floral, fruity, gentle, inviting, light, modern, natural, resinous, relaxing, romantic, sweet, syrupy, unisex, versatile, slightly woody, young, and very pleasant.

As a newcomer to the fragrance world, I havent yet gotten my nose around the orchid note and faintly detect something slightly powdery in Aoud Orchid that I put down to the orchid note; it gives the fragrance an expensive hair product aura weirdly enough. The orchid is completely dominated by the peach with an undercurrent of aoud throughout. I do also get quite a bit of the sweet coconutty note, which melds together with the peach to create a cosmetic sweetness that is pleasant but more feminine and youthful than I expected. As other users have said, it is smooth and performance is stellar. The more I wear it the more I agree with the comparison to Versace Eros Pour Femme but drier due to the aoud and lacking orange blossom. I loved Eros Pour Femme a few years ago and in this I was seeking something along the same lines, but more sophisticated. I'm not head over heels in love, but it was a safe blind buy that I will continue to wear

DrBilal

Very pleasant, smooth unisex fragrance with good performance..
Stays fr 12+ hrs on clothes ,, pleasant orchid aroma..
Definitely try it..

have blind bought this fragance because i have seen a very good offer and i felt atracred for his notes and i dont regret for this. It is a very nice fragance. The start is powerful. It is very noticeble the tangerine and the Peach, whichgives a fruity vibe to the fragance, but overall the coconut and the medicinal asoect of the oud Woody. This is not the tipical oud fragance. It has some similarities with the tipical rose/oud fragance, but changing the rose for the orchid, which vives yo the fragance a hint of elegante and sweetness , but the dry down is totally different. The most noticeble notes on the deydown are for me the orchid and the vanilla. It has some similarities yo me with orchidee vanille by van cleef & aroels. The more to the dry down It goes, the more subtle and floral It becones. The oud get Lost to the deydown and It takes much more importante the orchid. It is an easy wearing fragance. The longevity is good but the performance moderate. In the opening the sillage is strong but un the deydown much softer. For me is suitable for any swason, better for a daily use Than evening and perfect as an Office scent. Totally unisex but different than any men scents.

ridgel

Sweet coconut. Not tropical coconut. Woody and powdery. Something fresh. Synthetic peach note. The powdery note with the wood kind of makes me think I'm smelling rose. The sweet synth peach/rose/fresh smells like Burberry Body. I really did not like Burberry Body, but this smells like a non-cloying version of it. This was a blind buy, not a love.

SheogorathWaldo

Used to love this, but nnow it i very strong, annoying, and boring to me. Smells like a scratchy floral body wash with a Pierre Montale woods drydown.

Dirtyhoody

This perfume definitely leans feminine. Most men will feel self conscious wearing this one. It's a beautiful smell and it's performance is nothing to scoff at but look elsewhere fellas.

Ladies have at it. I split my bottle (blind bought) between my GF,mom, and daughter. They love it.

Boozy peachy floral all wrapped up in coconut.

Rory1234

Stop the bullshit banter and rate the damn juice. This isn't an essay contest

Nicyoung

This is a nice perfume. It was recommended to me by one of my favorite youtubers.. It was one of 9 that was recommended to me and I purchased because of the Coconut note which I usually love. I didn't actually pick up a coconut note. And the oud isn't your typical oud scent. It is softer and smoother then your usual in your face oud scent. I would say this is a soft sweet scent that is very smooth. Unlike others that detect each note, I detect another note all together. To me this smells almost like a Light sweet almond note done in a very beautiful way with a tiny little bit of powdery scent at the base but does not stand out. I dont love it, but seem how some may and would like to swap it if anyone has any of the perfumes I have on my want list of something pretty on the sweeter side let me know.

xmelldefrag

Aoud Orchid opens up with very prominent coconut vibe... So prominent that makes me think that this should be renamed aoud coconut, and then the peach comes out to play before the main player, the orchid, filling the stage.

The dry down for me is a bit generic, it's sweet and crowd pleaser.

Firasmalanzy:this smells lean more to the feminine side, but don't let stereotype dictate what you wear, wear whatever you like.

Tshepo Marupeni

I bought a full bottle, its very nice, In South Africa it performs as a beast mode perfume. i love the coconut and woody note, it doesn't block people's nose regardless of the number of sprays, i spayed 9 full sprays for high projection no sneezed even myself.

firasmalanzy

I have a question, does this perfume smell more male or female scent? i want to buy it online.

chiragh

First it smelled more of a women's perfume but after 2 mins it suddenly transformes into a beast .. it's very different scent Peach and Spicy with very noticeable coconut .

Initial is harsh , dry down is yumm !

And the only peach scent I will ever use for myself .

A unisex for sure

for three hours now I sit in a cloche of 2 whiffs of Mancera's "Aoud Orchid" from a 2 ml. tester. it is still going strong and exactly this is what Pierre Montale is gotten famous with, the gun-in-da-face openingblast the strongest I find, with Montale Aoud Purple Roses, Attar, Louban, Black Aoud and Black Aoud Intense. let me not forget Pure Gold of which I acquired a full flacon and which gives off such metallic orangeblossom as I had only encountered with Versaces "Eros Pour Femme". well this Mancera (my first engagement with) shares (of course) the same DNA and then we have the same question again (mainly sparked by the nichist elite, snobist exclusivist parfumistas): "is it real oudh?" and YES here is used real oudh perhaps Montale hasn't deforested entire Borneo or Laos but in my opinion with Aoud Orchid there is no other wood smelling so invasively as oudh, even in small amount and who knows, inforced with synthetics. I love this perfume although I must say I prefer what also loads of annoying so called 'connaiseurs' complain about: the effluxe of oudh-rose perfumes. I happen to love them very much as I find this particular perfume then, interesting to compare on the aspect of an 'oudh-enfleurage'. as the orchid is the only flower here it is a rather sweet flower and I know loads of non-smelling orchids but once came into a damp, warm greenery smelling a deliciously bananalike heady smell which, as it appeared, came from a hidden species of orchid and it had much resemblance with the smell of the flower here. that there isn't much development I find no disadvantage. it is a projectionistic, superimposing parfum and as I loved Giorgio, Poison, Coco and Knowing, I love this here alchymycal code 4 force, too, immensely. (a lovely review below.)

orpailleur

I went into the brand new Montale store in Paris (just across Guerlain's flagship boutique on Champs Elysees at 50m in a side road) to buy Intense Tiare but I was deceived by Tiare's excess coconut. So I tested a few and bought Moncera Aoud Orchid.
This new boutique is funny and very pleasant: behind the entrance, on the left hand side are aligned all the Montale flacons, on the right hand side all the Moncera flacons, and in the middle, the test desk with a number of very good SAs who don't need much time to diagnose your preferences. BTW i discovered a hidden treasure (not on the shelves) which is pure osmanthus oil ... but also on sale. Pierre Montale was not there, I was told he works in this atelier in Grasse in this cold Paris winter season.
Coming back to Aoud Orchid, the edp looks quite concentrated as it leaves an oily film on the skin for several minutes; it opens with fruity notes (too light of mandarine to be mentioned here and peach, already dominated by oud. The coconut is present but so discretely fleeting that it allows the orchid to develop quite quickly. Then comes the vanilla, still dominated by oud, but it enhances the floral scents which come like alternating color spots for hours, completing, or should I say nuancing the dominating combination between oud and orchid.
This excellent parfume has a long way to go, could be a classic in the making.
When I proudly went to Guerlain, Hermes and Tom Ford boutiques carrying my golden Montale bag to complete my shopping, some SAs asked me "is Montale finally back to Paris?". Obviously most of them didn't know about the new boutique.
When I'll have more time, I'll confront some of the Montale flacons to those of Mancera: it's the ideal place for this kind of exercise with this boutique's setup.
