Opening is vile to my (and my wife's) nose, sort of a sour milk scent.

It does improve after about 20mins into a smooth, sweet whiskey-vanilla oud.

I can't forgive the opening.

Taurien

Personally I don't get the tiramisu in this perfume. I smell the whiskey at the opening and later the drydown is framed by a somewhat blurred sweetness that surrounds a pleasant and easy-to-wear oud, a bit animalic.

It has a moderate sillage and lasts about 7-8 hours on my skin.

Indeed it is very similar to Crazy for Oud but, comparing them, I like Precious Oud less. To my nose, the latter is sweeter but the oud in Crazy for Oud seems cleaner, more delicate and balanced to me.

As for layerings, I have tried it with Lataffa's Oud Mood, to add even more sweetness, and with Crazy for Oud itself. Both combinations seemed good to me to add something more to the perfume, which otherwise feels a bit incomplete to me. With Oud Mood the sweetness increases and the mixture is more distinguished and delicate than when I use the Lattafa alone, which achieves an animalic aspect from the Mancera. With Crazy for Oud, one has what the other lacks and they complement each other very well, the way I like them the most is when used together.

Neither Precious Oud nor Crazy for Oud have made me fall in love and they have ended up being fragrances to use in moments of relaxation at home or to wear in layering and it is not justifiable for me to have them only for that use in my collection, taking into account their price range, so once I finish my travel sizes I will not replace them.

One of the finest and best quality mancera. I have been using it for over a year now. And goes without saying, beast mode. Longevity is 12+ hours easy and projection and sillage is huge. Strictly a winter or evening fragrance.

To the person below me. Try macerating it for few weeks. Or maybe you are going noseblind.

DOWNSET

Very, very weak. What's going on Mancera? Has this been reformulated? Reminds me of Amber Fever on the dry down, too bad it's so, so weak!

Trendkill97

Nice syrupy sweet oud, the Tiramisu note is unique and reveals itself slowly while not getting over sweet at any point. There's a hint of bright rose, it's classy, feels rich and also feels delicious. It's a nice gourmand take on the oud note. The subtle florals, traces of saffron, some cacao like note in the background, amber, vanilla and a tinge of creamy sandalwood support the rich, classy, sweet profile of the scent. Nothing too harsh or dark in this but may get headache inducing if over sprayed indoors for some. The fragrance has a lot of character, it performs massively. There's lots of similarities with Amber Fever and Crazy For Oud from this same house, but this ones more well put together as compared to those other two, as they seem to have something or the other that's too loud and screechy in them. Overall, cooler weather in the outdoors, in the air, this smells great! Top tier offering from Mancera. 7/10

No whiskey or Tiramisu detected. Smells like a mature woman. Rose...Rose...Rose....Noir noir by tom ford. Disappointed

@whateverwhocarea describes this so well

Whateverwhocares

Sweet, natural pear opening. Can detect a unique oud accord with a quality and subtle leather note, mixed with some kind of gourmand cocoa. I’m not sure if I prefer this to Crazy for Oud or not…depends on circumstances. But I can tell you that having both is not redundant.

This is a dense, delicious mix. There is honey, amber and more as it evolves. Really well crafted. Top shelf Mancera.

IanaM

honey oud, and it smells not like fresh honey, more like old candied one)

Oldspice

Blind bought this due to a youtube recommendation and the notes listed. It's a pass for me.

I don't detect whisky, oud or tiramisu. It just smells blandly sweet. Performance for me is so/so but gourmands tend not to perform well on me. For a sweet Mancera, Instant Crush is more interesting and better performing for me.

Sebaht

This is very beautiful. Long lasting as well.

Keenz

Very similar to Crazy For Oud, but the opening of this slightly reminds me of Amber Fever. If you already have crazy for Oud you can skip this, unless you want the same CFO scent profile with some added sweetness.

Great quality as expected from Mancera, this is easily an 8/10 for me.
performance is great, I easily get 12 hours from this, and its still on my shirts the next day.

opusxpn

The opening is a cake booze oudy it settles in after about an hour. On my skin once the dry down comes in is more floral woodsy with some sweetness there is a note of powdery rose but the oud is barely noticeable. You can still pick up the boozy note on the background. So to me it starts gourmand then it goes feminine floral then it goes more masculine woodsy boozy sweet with a hint of smokiness. It is a unisex fragrance both a woman and a man can pull it off. The final dry down is my favorite part of the scent. It’s a different scent it changes a lot. But if you want a dominant oud scent this is not it. Good for someone getting into oud scents like me. This can be used almost year round except during excessive heat. 3-4 sprays and you are set for 12 hours. It feels well blended and different I can say I will be using this during the cooler and colder months or spring night time. It is my first mancera and I am satisfied with the quality. 8/10 overall for me, I do lean more towards sweet scents.

Blind bought this because the youtube reviews rave about this being amazing. I was looking to get Wild Leather by Macera, but changed my mind last minute. I also have a decant of Amber Fever (Mancera) from months before. On initial spray (half spray) of Precious Oud, I noticed it was super sweet and almost identical to Amber Fever - with zero oud. So I let it sit on my skin for a while and it remained the same. Later I went out and sprayed a small amount on myself and I could smell it all night, but it was the same Amber Fever. I mean, I could almost smell the oud and tiramisu if I used my imagination, but I was almost certain I that because I bought a tester bottle that I was getting an old formulation or that it was mismarked. I compared Amber Fever and Precious Oud this morning on separate arms and they were only slightly different but the same nuances. Needless to say, I was disappointed.

Today I went out and thought, maybe I will give it a full wearing before I decide to sell it. So I sprayed two full sprays on myself and minutes later I got the oud and the tiramisu, and finally I understand the youtube hype. This is a very nice smelling fragrance that is somewhat similar to Amber Fever but the oud is there and it is clean and really nice. Definitely a fragrance I will use for the cooler to cold months and unisex for me.

If anyone experieced the same issues as myself, I would suggest being patient and giving it a few tries with full atomizer sprays because that made all the difference for me.

100% Female fragrance!

If you think the oud note in here is too strong and you wish the gourmand notes were standing out instead - try layering this with Shaghaf oud and thank me later.

NUCLEAR performance!

Palmer Eldritch

Take the citric opening and full dry-down of 'Amber Fever' but more gourmand...then add a heavy dose of faecal oud from start to finish.
Sidenote: this smells nothing like 'Sweetie Oud' by Roja Parfums. That one is buttery biscuits with some intense smokey notes.

This is definitely not my favourite Mancera, nor is it one I can see myself using. If you remove the pungent oud then the closest scent to this one is definitely 'Amber Fever', but more gourmand. Absolutely heavenly!

Unfortunately on my skin the Laotian oud is the strongest note for the entire perfume lifecycle... and it smells just like 'the number 2' (to put it bluntly). I guess this means Mancera used REAL oud since oud morphs / performs according to your skin 'chemistry' & warmth.

The gourmand, sweet and woodsy aspect to 'Precious Oud' is hands-down fricking delicious, with minimal-to-no florals. BUT I just can't get over that faecal oud, it won't ever go away. Sorry folks, it's a huge pass.

Kevin The Llama

I blind bought Mancera precious oud and I'm very happy with the purchase. This is definitely a 100% unisex fragrance. The opening is very nice and I get a almost fizzy sweet boozy smell almost like a champagne or something. The oud becomes very prominent in the dry down but it is very wearable because the delicious sweet boozy smell is just sitting on top of the oud . Performance is very good for me, 8-10 hours on skin and on clothes multiple days. This would be a great night out or date fragrance. Overall a very good unisex offering from mancera and I give precious oud a 9/10.

This is quickly becoming one of my favourite fragrances.

After smelling this initially, I was immediately put off by the strong oud note. But after I'd given it a chance to settle, I kept getting whiffs of something woody and sweet, it took a while to realise it was Precious Oud.

This lasted on my skin for over 10 hours and only got better as time went on. Initially, there was a harsh oud/leather combo that could be considered quite polarising but after 1hr, it settled to a smoother oud/woody/vanilla scent which definitely suits the unisex marketing. After 4hrs, the woody/vanilla scent was still very much present but I could pick up on the rose at this point. Whilst I couldn't smell any other florals beyond rose, I was happy with how it had settled on my skin.

I'd asked some colleagues to smell this whilst wearing it on skin and on clothing and they seemed to enjoy it when I walked past but smelling it directly off of the skin seemed to change their minds. This is probably one where the scent trail is to be enjoyed rather than closely on skin, maybe better suited as a night out scent.

Also worth mentioning, I had two people ask what the name of this fragrance was and where to buy it so if you're worried about this being unsuitable for work environments, it probably isn't a problem unless you work in confined spaces with a lot of staff.

Overall, I think if you're looking for a smooth oud for beginners, this could be worth a try. It's definitely made me more inclined to try oud based fragrances.

This drives is in the lane of other powdery perfumes of the past - like ... lets take Valentino Uomo Noir as a close representative of the genre. But is slightly decorated in the opening with gourmand features and lots of ambroxan in the base. After the pleasing moments of novelty went away I was left alone on the party with the boring boring Mr. Ambroxan, who seems to be crashing all parties lately and I'm having quite enough. The drydown could be boring, but it's ok, until you try to wash it off. Then this ingredient becomes especially dreadful - if you don't know what ambroxan acts like - it's this "yesterday's perfume" chemical mess that you smell coming from your skin in the shower - as if you smell solvent in your drink - that's the part that I don't like about Precious Oud. If it weren't for that, and they could make the gourmand splash in the opening last in a more refined and defined way (rather than chemically "blurred" way to create sufficiently lasting illusion of a "well blended" and "rounded" formula), I'd be replacing Valentino in a heartbeat. Not in the current circumstances, though. Hindu Kush has the same base and if you aren't repulsed by modern chypre, it's another unisex offering from Mancera, which you may find appealing. Where Precious Oud goes soft and powdery, Hindu Kush goes green and resinous. But both try to roar over Valentino Uomo Noir's trail and appeal to its audience. I realise that most people won't care about the "chemical side" of Mancera, since nowadays it's becoming the norm in a lot of other potent contemporary concoctions for obvious reasons, but I'm still a die-hard fan of the old ways. So, if you are a fan of the house, than Precious Oud and Hindu Kush are actually very good safe blind buys imo, for as long as you like Valentino Uomo Noir and you want to experience a new take on it. On its own is soft and nice and cudly and powdery, but if you already own other iris fragrances like Dior Homme, Prada's etc ... you can use Precious Oud to add intensity, sweetness and a bit of boozy tone in the opening. For a gift - I think Precious Oud is safer than Hindu Kush. But I think that for personal use, Hindu Kush is better on its own and Precious Oud makes sense to own together with Hindu Kush if you want to use it for layering less intriguing or poor performing leathers, gourmands and irises, or to soften some harsh or synthetic ouds or boozy perfumes that you are bored with.

IAmStaka

I enjoy the scent (given you wait the opening to dissipate, as it's not very pleasing), but for a Mancera and for an "oud", it has pretty mediocre performance & longevity.

Precious Oud or Crazy For Oud?

Just copped a bottle of P.O. after having owned C.F.O. for several months. Was reluctant after seeing that both offerings share many of the same notes.

Precious Oud is the sweetie of the two. Something about the dry down. Milky, creamy, with a touch of oakmoss. Opens up bright and sweet. Gotta love the bergamot too.

Crazy For Oud seems to be more linear by comparison. The oud/floral combo both start and end the show. Also has this lactonic/cheesy vibe to it which I enjoy. The florals are also amped up by comparison to P.O.

I like both.

The two fragrances are perfectly unisex. But if I had to choose, I'd say that Precious Oud is geared towards females, wheras Crazy For Oud is for the fellas. Both are easily interchangeable.

ferlzjordan

After 3 hours-> it’s still very sweet, 70%amber-sweet - 30%vanilla-sweet, the boozy accord is still there, the accord is in between sour milk and whisky. The oud is nice, tame although one can tell it is the spine of the scent. The patchouli is sparkly, not earthy. Unfortunately I don’t get tiramisu, nor coffee nor chocolate...it’s a like for me.

ferlzjordan

To my nose this is not alike, at all, to Instant Crush. The opening is sweet, but closer to honey lactone than ethyl maltol(IC); the boozy note may come from honey lactone. The Oud is mild, not animalic or pungent. After an hour, other sweet notes develop, not vanilla.... close to amber... faint patchouli and florals in the background... so far this is Ok.

MNadz

Believe the hype! For those that love gourmands with an oud twist, this is a welcome addition. Sweet oud opening in the way of Instant Crush and Oud for Greatness. The dry down with tiramisu and vanilla makes it unique.

Opening is a very nice sweet note combined with a mild oud that is great for those looking for an intro fragrance to oud. If you can’t handle this oud opening, you can’t handle most other oud fragrances. The dry down brings forth a chocolatey tiramisu note. Very sweet but tamed by the oud note that sticks around. Rose balances out the heart really well. Vanilla rounds it all out adding the depth and some complexity. For me, it really is that good.

Longevity and projection are easily above average. Easily unisex. This smells just as nice on my wife. Best for fall/winter...and could be worn on warmer days by spraying less. Value here is of the charts. $80 for 4oz of a fragrance that lasts almost all day and projects well is fabulous.

For me, this is easily a love. It is a unique gourmand fragrance that stands out in its addition of oud. Saying that, I would recommend getting a sample and wear it for a few days to see how you like it, before purchasing a full bottle.

Well done Mancera...well done.

Make Scent's of it

In relation to my earlier post!
If your looking for a similar type of fragrance with the Whisky note - including the Amber, Patchouli & Vanilla also you should consider Mugler A*Men Pure Malt.

It has a more defined Whisky note - Sweet with a hint of coffee, an amazing Scent for less than half the cost of Precious Oud.
And without the Leather note in it that's just not great on my skin.

As a Cold Weather evening Scent this is an 8/10 for me, which on my skin projects better as well.

Make Scent's of it

Ok, I'll get straight to the point with this one.
Not a pleasant opening at all on my skin - The reason why is that it opens with a barnyard type of a hay smell in it to me, bordering on like a horses stable type of smell.
I believe this maybe the Laotian Oud mixing with the Leather and maybe even the Patchouli Leaf, but on me the opening is not good at all.

The problem is this hangs around for way too long as well, but after 30 minutes or so things start to improve and the Whisky, Vanilla & Floral notes start come through and smooth out a little - And it's at this point it starts to become somewhat pleasant compared to the opening.
It's a light Oud with a Whisky, vanilla, Floral and Leather vibe.
But something in this blend just does not work on my skin.
Had the Leather note been replaced with a bit of smoke or something like a plum accord this could have been an amazing fragrance.
But sadly not.
Out of the 25 Mancera Fragrances I have this is probably way at the bottom of the list for me to select and actually want to wear.
5/10 On 1st application - but it improves as it settles
Make sure you get this one on the skin before you purchase.

I've had a long journey with this one. First time I smelled it was last year from a tester strip. Didn't like it at all - sharp whiskey and some leather note was all I got from the little piece of paper. I've got ten other Manceras, but counted this one as a total miss and forgot about it. Four months later ordered some samples of other Mancera frags and the seller sent me Precious Oud by mistake. Tried it on skin and oh wow, could this be the same juice? So much more than just sharp booze, more depth and complexity, so different than what I smelled on the strip few months ago. Put it in my to-buy list almost immediately, didn't even wait until the drydown (which is even better!). Fast forward three more months and I've just found a great discount and ordered a full bottle. Should be here tomorrow... aaand I'll have to wait a few more months until it gets colder so I can wear it. I guess sometimes true love needs time. :)

xmelldefrag

I agree with most of the reviewers here. Precious Oud is a worthy addition to Mancera's growing repertoire. In fact I love this more than Instant Crush which is dubbed as Baccarat's dupe.

On the initial spray, it smells a bit skanky, it is definitely the oud, a bit dirty, up close it smells funny, but within the arm's length it smells beautiful. The whisky is there as well, give it a little bittersweet vibe. In the middle I can still detect Mancera's DNA (or Montale), the rose, it is lush, blood red and sweet. At this phase I'm afraid that it would turn into other Mancera rose-based perfumes... Thankfully it's not, the rose keeps being in the background as a backup singer for the oud... Then came the vanilla, turning the whole composition into gourmand territory. This is where the tiramisu appears, and with the pairing vanilla+amber, things rarely go wrong.

Final thoughts, this is a longlasting wonderful perfume that is not typical Mancera/Montale. Though the opening is a bit challenging, I still think this perfume is worthy a blindbuy.

One of the best releases of 2019 by mancera. Bought a decant of this to try it out. Beautiful composition of whisky - floral - leather - Vanilla. Unable to figure tiramisu. Definetely full bottle worthy for me. Loving it so far.

Wow
The best and unique Rose-Oud combo I’ve ever come across till date

Opens with the typical Arabic Rose-Oud then followed by boozy whiskey and creamy vanilla
I don’t get any tiramisu...
Most of the rose oud combo leans on the masculine side ...
But this is absolutely unisex ...
Both gender can Rock this fragrance ...

First day testing.

Top notes are active for 1.5 hours. Very Very potent and oily.

I get boozy oud with leather and something that remind me of coffee, but it is in the background.

Very unisex, but i feel women will love this more.

As time passes it's becoming more interesting and complex.

TonyAKAMrClean

Awesome scent!

When I first sprayed this, I smelled a very acrid and acidic note that I didn't care for. Needless to say, I thought this was going to be a scrubber. Instead, I let it sit and dry for a few minutes and this blossomed into what is now probably one of my 2 favorite Manceras of all time! Fruity, woody, airy oud, nice hints of saffron and Guiac wood, but the guiac note doesn't overpower the scent like it does in many others. There was not another single displeasing whiff throughout the life of the fragrance, which is VERY long.

Long story short, give it a minute to dry, and you will be pleasantly rewarded!

This is exactly the fruity-boozy-oudy blend that I've been looking for. I assume the fruitiness I keep referring to is strictly due to the boozy notes mixed with bergamot, but this scent reminds me of the fruitiness that comes across in Mugler Pure Malt (although it doesn't smell the same). I suppose it could also be the amber-patchouli combination which often has this effect as well.

Testing this one more, I have to say, I really enjoy this one!

Mr Cornells

@landshark321 your reviews on Precious Oud has me revved up to purchase this blindly. Thanks a lot I hope to buy this when it hits the shores of my country!
And as usual, I'll drop my review on the fragrance!

landshark321

Mancera Precious Oud is yet another 2019 release the Montale/Mancera empire that keeps churning out new fragrances like a factory. I really enjoyed sampling Montale Oud Dream the other day and Mancera Precious Oud does not disappoint, either. The note list is complex, not Roja-esque, but a lot more than the rose/patchouli/oud breakdown of Oud Dream.

Precoius Oud has the rose and oud, unsurprisingly, but it has sweet and boozy hints as well: tiramisu, whiskey, and leather are listed verbatim, along with a handful of florals and a familiar dry down of patchouli, cedar, sandalwood, vanilla, amber, and oakmoss. So the note list is a lot to digest, no food pun intended, but the upshot for me as a balance between a rose/oud fragrance and a gourmand sweet/boozy fragrance, and a pretty even balance, at that. It’s a nod to both the rose/oud lovers and gourmand lovers.

As usual, the performance is very strong, certainly more than satisfactory for the type of scent it is, something I’d be more inclined to wear in cooler weather, when the juice needs to be a bit stronger to stand out.

I might not quite love it as much as Oud Dream but it’s surely a winner, for me, one I need to try some more but a release that I’m impressed with upon trying it even just once.

The only retail option in the US that I see for now is Osswald NYC, a great shop, but they’re currently sold out of it, and it’s almost certainly at the standard Mancera pricing of $180 for 120m

Overall, I’m very pleased with this one, another banger from this company.

Got a sample of this. Really intresting blend. Even seeing the notes im still wondering what I smell. Can definetly make up the whisky and oud in this. Smells classy and creative.

Dirtyhoody

Yeah...I'm probably going to blind buy this...will update when I do.

Update: blind bought it. It's in the mail. Got it from fragrancebuy.ca.

Update 2: got it in the mail and it is beautiful. Not a typical oud rose combo. It's definitely boozy and smooth.

mikemuscles21

I have not voted or tried this yet. But just the way you described it (stephan) makes me WANT to tey it now!! Hahaha

stephan

I received this sample with 7 others Mancera. This was my least favorite. Actually, I hate this fragrance. It smells like someone ate bubblegum and Tiramisu while drinking whisky and then vomited everything.
