When I'm smelling the nozzle, I get more of a lemon/rose tea smell. But on my skin I get what I imagine what a real rose would smell like (haven't smelled a fragrant rose before, so take this with a grain of salt), as I get a general fragrant plant smell. My area has quite a lot of flowering trees, so if anyone is familiar with that type of smell. It's similar to that.

It smell a bit "weird", but it's really addicting and pleasant.

I blind bought this and it is the new lettering with the copper cap. Molinard Rose is a tart rose soliflore. Tea roses come to mind when I smell this. Tart lemony tea roses. This is quite geranium heavy as well. A cheaper way to make a unisex with rose fragrance no doubt but that is fine. It smells very realistic. There is just the whisper of almond but only a whisper. The dry down is a bit of dirty patchouli as well but the tea rose stays throughout. Unisex. I can see the comparison to Elizabeth and James nirvana rose and perfume workshop tea rose but the molinard is better quality IMO. If you like tea rose soliflores with a touch of tending the soil from gardening smells (only a tiny touch) this is an easy dumb reach for any rose lover. You could use this on its own or for layering. A tart tea rose.

Edit: 4/25/24 I gave this to my husband. He is a major rose lover and this is a very unisex rose, very geranium forward as well. I have more feminine roses in my collection. This works really well for a man who loves roses and geraniums.

This has gone through a reformulation. The notes are now -

Top - Peony,,Almond, Lemon
Heart - Rose, Geranium, Fresh Notes
Base - Oakmoss, Patchouli, Musk

The label has changed too. No longer a white label but now printing directly on the bottle.

I haven't tried either version. I am confused as to what version the reviewers are referring to here.

It would be nice if the reviewers would let us know that information when leaving their reviews.

Starts out with stunning, natural, beautiful rose. After the initial blast, it settles down into a syrupy, dense ambery rose with a hint of sweetness. Leans distinctly feminine, as you might imagine with Rose. Really not for me as a man. I might like it ok on a woman, but not a love...a bit too strong and thick for me. It's natural, high quality, and well blended, but the scent profile just doesn't do it for me.

UPDATE (same day): The drydown 2 hours later is much more pleasant. It's not as dense and syrupy. More of a softly projecting, comforting rose with a little bit of Chanel vibes. I can appreciate this on a woman, especially one I am getting intimate with.

Uh. I got so excited about this perfume and the brand. Sadly to my nose it just smells like soap. Nothing else. Maybe slightly floral but mainly sour soap 😐 Blind buy fail.

Aisabelle

A brisk but transparent rose. As someone mentioned previously, it's very akin to rosewater.

There's a whisper of musk. I don't detect much clove. It certainly isn't "intense" to my nose.

A pleasant rose fragrance, but lacks depth, vigor and complexity. It's probably better layered over something else: a musk, patchouli, amber, or deeper rose scent, perhaps.

kristoferiscariot

Very dusty intense rose.

Darius HIldenbrandt

Very intense thick unisex rose perfume - enriched with cloves, musk, violette, vanilla

Kalamoony

Very nice lovely Classy Rose fragrance, i have many rose frags niche and designers , this one is the best imo. the rose here is very elegant and royal .. I LOVE IT

clemmy

Very strong old rose, balanced, but lacks depth and carachtere. Pleasant but not special. My mum loves it, but the effect 'old granny' is behind the corner. Not worth full bottle. 2.5/5

i just love it. it has a rose scent a little bit less intensive in the beginning as jo malone red roses, but it lasts for at least 3 hours and even after that doesn't disappear completely. i sweeten it with comptoir sud pacific's coco extreme, since it's good for layering.

molinard was soapy in the beginning but i let it stand for a while and the soapy scent disappeared. i think i found my rose. <3

a girl in the elevator asked me what perfume i was wearing the other day and it was molinard rose.

I finally received this little gem of a rose perfume in the mail. When I first sprayed it I thought, "Oh no! Not another Guerlain Nahema." Of course I like Nahema but I do not need another bottle. The initial spray of Molinard Rose on skin, revealed a strong spicy classic rose scent. Quite strong. This phase lasted for almost an hour then the most beautiful aroma unveiled.

The dry down is where this perfume differentiated itself. On this 85F day, the vanilla emerged and sweetened this rose into a cozy, warm skin scent. Powdery, makeup bag scent. It is very nice and enveloping. The chamomile is on the edge, trying to drag the rose into melancholy but, the rose remained steadfast. It maintained its depth and character with a light sweetness.

MR does not project like a monster but it's not quiet either. Longevity is 6+ hours and I intend to wear MR all year long.

AMajeedQT

A classic rose scent.

Rose from beginning to end, accompanied by spicy & lively cloves & hint of warm musk. Meanwhile, other floral notes give Rose EDP an even more floral vibe. There is a slight bitterness to it like that of crush rose petals that actually enhances the scent rather than takes away from it.

Not unique. Smells like rose water.

A rose scent well executed.

Cooler weather rose, mature scent, leans toward feminine more.

I actually kind of like this. It lasts for ages sprayed on a card.

It's very rosy, like a grasse rose, thereby quite distinguishable. I think the geranium gives it a metallic character which I don't care for but it's forgivable because this fragrance is interesting.

The cloves are there but blended very well giving this fragrance smokiness. I don't think this fragrance benefits from violets, which aren't my favorite flowers. Finally the chamomile, which I love, makes my mind wander to tea at night time. Unfortunately I don't smell much vanilla.

Great effort. Will definitely test more!

True pink rose perfume with rosewood dry down. Good quality perfume with a friendly price tag

Molinard Rose EDP is not a shy perfume. It’s dominated by a persistent, linear spicy red rose. In the chorus, along with the spices, I pick up sweetness provided by vanilla and almond.

If you love rose, this could be your ticket. But it’s not for me, I started to feel light headed wearing this scent, and decided to wash it off.

Too much rose, and I felt like a walking car air freshener. I’m not sure I can isolate the reason why. That may sound like a cheap shot and a lazy description, but I tend to gravitate toward rose scents that are mixed down in the compositions (with wood notes). I don’t hate it, but I don’t like it either.

I got both this and Molinard Rose Turkia, and much prefer the latter. This one, sprayed on the wrists, lasts quite well and my sense of its scent is of a boozy rich rose - I don't notice the individual scent notes much and it's not rosy enough to match my favourite rose scents, such as Stella by Stella MacCartney. But sprayed on the inner elbows the scent is much stronger, very spicy and too masculine though still suitable for women. It then takes a while to fade to a more recognizable rose scent. The other one, Rose Turkia, is more powdery. This one is going to charity as I don't need both and really don't like the cloves note - mixed with geranium it's just too sharp.
