Ground hound

Powdery vanilla and patchouli. Sweet, comforting, with a light sour note in the end.
Relaxing, SPA-like, grounded scent.

Bendking

its a pretty cozy vanilla patchouli scent. the patchouli is very niche smelling and is a little bit more prominent than the vanilla, its a pretty earthy patchouli. overall its nice

ihatefragrance

This was my first blind buy but based on the notes it was safe to assume I'd at least like this. I was right and this is exactly what it says. Vanilla with patchouli. An amazing combination as a concept already and wonderfully executed in this. The vanilla in this is perfectly balanced and gives it a sweetness that the patchouli and sandalwood even and keep it from being a fragrance I'd classify as sweet. There's sweetness but I wouldn't call it a sweet fragrance, if that makes sense. The patchouli is hard to describe because patchouli is a new one for me. l've heard people describe it as "chocolate-y" in the reviews I read before I decided to order and I somewhat agree but to my nose there's something that also feels a little wet and earthy in the best way. All together this is slightly sweet, soft and woody, earthy and with some smokiness that I'm unsure of the origin. 100% unisex. Anyone can wear this. It goes somewhat linear and stays relatively simple but this is something I love. The opening is a little "strong" but I think it's still amazing. Personally this is a solid 9/10 for me and I'm glad I purchased this.

Sapienta

Oh this is so close to shalimar philtre.. this one has more warmth but ver very close to each other.
Its alluring and intimate. Vanilla is perfect. Opening is a little harsh, but once it dries down its heavenly.

dj71

I think this is a good scent for someone who likes vanilla, but not an overwhelmingly sweet overpowering vanilla scent. The wood and patchouli notes amp up the richness of the scent but tone down an overly sweet vanilla note. Obviously, if you don't like patchouli you shouldn't bother with this one - patchouli is right in the name. This is a strong like, but not a love for me.

meama

good dry earthy patchouli but then the vanilla sandalwood base smells too synthetic

citrus_addicted

One of my favorites! It's just amazing and so underrated.
It smells like sweet, creamy vanilla with chocolaty, slightly moist patchouli. So delicious, with great projection and longevity. A must-have for fall and winter.
It bears some resemblance to the Mugler Muse, but they are not dupes.

Ilikewhatilike

Cosy, tasty, natural smelling and great value. Seems like this fragrance performs very differently depending on the person. On me, I get a nice natural vanilla with a nicely balanced patchouli that goes chocolatey. The vanilla isn't sweet or artificial and I feel a touch of the benzoin (maybe). I'm happy with my purchase.

bossmama

Vanilla fruitcholi without the patchouli, if that makes sense. Like you know that fruity sweetness from clean feminine patchouli blend but without the cool earthy vibes that should be the main character in patchouli scents. The dry down on my skin is pure vanilla cake. Not a bad scent but not really what I expected either.

Guest2563

Natural smelling chocolatey patchouli and vanilla with good performance, be careful with the trigger because it can pretty easily get way too sweet.

betty_bounce

I smelled this on my jacket the next day and thought, “I don’t remember wearing Coromandel recently…” So the distant dry-downs are somewhat similar, but not before then. It’s simple, cosy and pleasant. Like a more unisex Davidoff Zino. The opening is a little odd, but what is life without some drama?

emma.maria36

If you like patchouli this is a must in my opinion.. very strong patchouli, affordable and great performance (i still feel it after 11-12 hours)

haltak

This is a patchouli bomb for the price.
Vanilla isn't that strong (I'm sad about it) and doesn't lean in the direction that looks delicious.
If you're thinking of buying in the same price range, it's still better to get Fort Royal.

mrshnchnkm

This is the perfect autumn perfume, creamy vanilla and warm patchouli, it's a really close dupe for tf vanille fatale.

GirlOnFire

Vanilla benzoin biscuit. Faint patchouli?

almondluver1

Is this perfume a chameleon that smells different to everyone’s noses 😂?

I don’t get any patchouli in here at all 😳🙈, at least not the type I’m familiar with in perfumes like Jimmy Choo EDP, Angel Muse, and Rebl Fleur. This smells like extremely sweet & fruity yet also chocolatey vanilla. Lmao, sounds so random all together but that’s what I get 😂😅. It’s similar to Molinard’s Vanilla Fruitee and Mancera Black Vanilla but heavier on the chocolate and sweet fruits (even though there’s no fruits in here lol). Also smells like a sweet vanilla Yankee Candle. This is super gourmand and yummy vanilla!

Hr2lrn

It’s amazing how different people perceive the same fragrance so differently! On me this is a chocolatey patchouli with a slight sweet vanilla overtone. It’s delicious, strong, and worth every penny.

amanda1nc

Right after spraying this, it smells like mouthwash. Does anyone else smell a strong mint?
Within a half hour it settles to a nice sweet vanilla. There is very little Patchouli in this fragrance. What is there is a very light caramel essence Patchouli. Sweet but very nice once the mouthwash smell finally goes away.

bdragonfly12345

A very... interesting...scent, delivering on both the patchouli and vanilla. The benzoin is faint, but adds a very (very!) slight smoky vibe to this. The musk and sandalwood are pretty non-existent.

I bought a decant of this because of the 'this smells like white chocolate' reviews, and am left fairly disappointed on that front. I guess if I REALLY tried hard, I could tell myself that's what I was smelling, but I find this is an 'herbal' patchouli, rather than a Mugler-esque 'chocolate' patchouli.

Overall, it's not BAD, and I am very glad I invested in a decant rather than blind-buying a full bottle--my 5mL will more than suffice. I definitely like the drydown of this the best, when it's 85% patchouli and only 15% vanilla. (Just to warn you, there is a very prominent (and overwhelmingly synthetic) CSP "Vanille Extreme" smell for the opening and middle.)

Note: I must say I am surprised by the fragrances on the 'Reminds Me Of' listing; I have tried (or possess) many of them [Amberbee, Aura, By the Fireplace, Coromandel, Desert Rosewood, Shaghaf Oud, and Shalimar Souffle], and this doesn't really remind me of any of them! So, if you are contemplating this as a replacement for one of those, you are probably going to wind up disappointed.

I wouldn't recommend buying this unless you find it at a discounted price.

seventeen_sails

Biscuit-y woody vanilla, with the patchouli adding a slightly fuzzy texture (as opposed to smoother, creamier vanillas). Was a blind buy that worked out for me, if only because of the very fair price. It's a nice cozy bedtime/lounging scent; it smells natural and high-quality, if a little simple.

LaContessina

All the Molinards in this purple bottle collection (i own four of them) are very linear and "simple". Good if you enjoy the one or two particular notes that compose the frag, but you will not find a "Story" here.
This one is indeed a mild patchouli plus a soft and cozy vanilla. I don't detect musk nor benzoin.
The Vanilla is nice and warm, not sweet nor synthetic in the least. The Patchouli is a smooth, rounded one, wearable, not green not moist.
All in all a nice fragrance with a strong longevity (12h +), however to my nose it's boring. It doesn't tell a story , doesn't lead you through a journey like many other fragrances do.
A weak patchouli for those who can't bear regular patchouli and arev vanilla lovers.
Too linear to be a keeper. I have better patchoulis in my wardrobe.

Ps: not at all resembling to Coromandel (=way more camphorous, resinous patchouli) nor Angel, nor TF White Patchouli (WP is 90% a white musk frag). Let alone Orchidee Vanille, sweeter.
The only faint resemblance I could find is with Jovoy Psychedelique in the drydown, noting that the latter is way more complex and has a infinitely better construction (also way more expensive, alas).

Dakota22

Hate patchouli love this. Patch just dirty enough to give it a funky vibe. Lasts all day in Las Vegas winter. I smell great!

Vanillastorm40

Smells like these little scratch n sniff things that used to be around during the Halloween season. I can't describe it any other way. I believe the scratch n sniff things were supposed to smell like a witch. I wish I could remember what the things were called. Sometimes I think there were stickers too with the same smell. This would be back in the mid-late 80s. I'm not sure I want to smell like that so I'm returning this to seller. And the village n longevity left a lot to be desired.

MegandHoney

Smells like Vanilla bean... hmmmmm. Yummy. You won't understand it at first, but give it time, and you'll fall in love.

gotvx

I tried them back to back; Vanille Patchouli and Patchouli from Molinard. I wasn't a huge fan of Patchouli, but I really like Vanille Patchouli. I couldn't figure it out at first, but now I'm pretty sure it's the geranium in Patchouli that turns me off. VP, on the other hand, has no florals and the sandalwood / vanilla add a super smooth and creamy character to the patchouli. It also seems super versatile too. It's very much the definition of unisex. It's not bad on performance either. Five hours or so then it becomes close and goes another 3. For the price, this one might be bottle worthy for me.

Alexinaboxx

I love the scent of this fragrance. I love gourmands. Vanilla and Patchouli are 2 of my favorite ingredients, so I felt I couldn't go wrong with this. Especially for the price. However, I guess you get what you pay for because the projection and sillage IMO are almost non-existent. It sits extremely close to the skin on me. In love with the creamy, vanilla patchouli, saddened by the performance.

katgirl76

Just now wearing this again and thought I should review it. A generous gift from a Fragrantica friend....thank you!

Starts of a bit awkward, but not bad. As it dries down - softly - it begins to melt together in a lovely way, bringing out the best of the vanilla, patch and benzoin. After a couple of hours, the sweet musk and some sandalwood come through and the perfume is a soft skin scent. Great for a cuddly bedtime scent.

milena.1

I am not getting patchouli at all. Just a blast of vanilla. I smell like a vanilla extract. I'll try again in couple of days, hopefully it settles a bit.

Day 2: Ok so definitely needs some time to "recover" from all the shaking and temperature changes during shipment. But I am still not super impressed. It is a very sweet, unrefined vanilla, kinda like the one you put in cakes, from the brown vanilla extract bottle. It has decent longevity, I'd say after about 2 hours it becomes soft, more intimate scent with a foots length projection. Cozy, but nothing spectacular.

UPDATE 2 months after: I discovered that if I layer it with a single note patchuli fragrance it really starts to shine. I guess on my skin it projects only vanilla, NOW I understandf what the hype was about. This is my signature scent for this winter. Trully unique and captivating. Loving it.

Nataliemarie

OMG! What an amazing patchouli! I have their straight Patchouli perfume, this is very similar, just adding that wonderful real vanilla scent to it. It makes it scrumptious! I believe this may be my favorite Patch frag I have! I have never smelled By the fireplace, so I can't comment on that, but WOW!!

sandroadv

Really so similar to By the Fireplace Maison Martin Margiela

TonyAKAMrClean

Do you like Tom Ford White Patchouli? If so this might be just the vanilla scent you're looking for! I swear, to my nose this smells just like Tom Ford White Patchouli, but with an added woody vanilla accord. Seriously, this could be a vanilla flanker of White Patchouli, and that's not a bad thing.

Very good strength and longevity from my testing.

Still, it's not my favorite vanilla + patchouli scent. Mancera Aoud Vanille still has my heart in this category, but this scent is very nice.

Przem

Hot white chocolate poured on a freshly baked wafer. Dense and daring. Difficult not to adore it! Decent longevity. The sillage is adequate; no issue with wearing this in the office.

Overall 9/10.

This is what I thought Chanel Coromandel was going to smell like... If I were to put this on one wrist and Chanel Coromandel on the other and you asked me which one was the Chanel.. I would have chosen this one.. it even feels like there is some white chocolate and it doesn't have that hay note thats off putting. I love it!

Rick58Beth62

What a fun, light-hearted, fizzy, root beer scent. My first thought was this was the ditzy but lovable cousin to Hypnotic Poison. Nothing serious here, just happy root beer float.

SebaM83

Blind buying again, this time I bought three Molinard fragrances: Cuir, Habanita and Vanille Patchouli. To my nose, Vanille Patchouli is sweet and creamy with a smooth patchouli note.
I don't know if it's only me, but this scent makes me think of white chocolate, a creamy, smooth and soft white chocolate melting in my mouth. So yummy and delicious. An absolutely scrumptious fragrance from Molinard.

ponderbread

I found Vanille Patchouli as part of my search for fragrances similar to Chanel Coromandel (i.e., sweet patchoulis). VP is a pretty straight-forward vanilla/benzoin/patchouli where the patchouli is not very harsh/herbal/sharp/whatever quality it is that sometimes makes patchouli a bit too much. Very soft and very pleasant with decent performance; pretty linear but that's okay. At first I liked it but wasn't wowed, but then I couldn't stop sniffing myself, so it looks like when my decant is up I will probably be buying a bottle of this. This is definitely one to check out if you like sweet patchoulis, especially given the affordable price.

mrluctoretemergo

First sniff : Interlude Man but less harsh...more emphasis on the vanilla..but nevertheless .. i like to call it 'Interlude Soft for Men'...i like it a lot ...it also has a coca cola twist i find

My wife says i just/only smell like warm vanilla pudding...but that's a good thing no ? :O)

Loving it everyday a bit more...so glad i bought it

Christmas in a bottle just like Chazas says.

I recently bought the very popular and trendy By the Fireplace by Maison Martin Margiela and the first thing that came to my mind was Vanille Patchouli.
They are not the same or even very similar. They are supposed to share only the Vanilla. I have dozens of Vanilla fragrances and none reminds me of any of these.
What they do have similar is the vibe and the perception that both create:
Extremely cozy, either for by the fireplace, by the Christmas tree or both.

By the Fireplace is smokier, not as much as Bentley Absolute which is more like campfire type of smoke but indoor fireplace.
Yet I get very much the same idea at using Molinard.
If you love the one, I bet you will love the other. They are both in the same league. Lovely niche unisex Fall Winter Masterpieces,
Performance wise they are both very good, but Molinard lasts longer and has more projection. Apart from that Molinard will cost you half the price.
I'm glad I have both.

Chazas

Noticed different versions of Vanille Patchouli.
Tested and seen on the internet bottles with "red color juice" which lasted incredibly well. Own and seen bottles which have almost "clear slightly pink'ish color juice" similar to Cuir or Rose, and this one with clear juice smell wonderful and identical to a red color juice bottles, but the performance is at least twice weaker, yet it still lasts very well on clothes with soft projection.

It is really interesting and I think only first bottles had this red color juice same as Patchouli which lasted very well. In some reviews and presentations of Vanille Patchouli there was red and clear juice bottles, go figure.

Other than that, absolutely adore Vanille Patchouli, it is so smooth, pleasant and warm, sweet and a little dusty, such a happy and cozy scent, real Christmas in a bottle.
Even though the scent leans more to feminine side, it is still very unisex in my opinion and I really enjoy it as a guy, but on a girl, SUBLIME!

halloween27

The vanilla at first spray (and lessening over the hours) is straight-up cooking vanilla - the kind that comes in the brown glass or plastic bottles. But on clothing, say a day after spraying, the vanilla smells just like instant coco powder (that you add to water or milk and drink.) Dusty and not at all like its puffy cooking vanilla in the beginning.

Pirru9

I love Molinard's simplicity, but this one may be a redundant buy if you already have the Patchouli fragrance which I love. Patchouli had more silage and longevity, while Vanille Patchouli sits very close to the skin and fades out to a hint of regular Patchouli with an underlying vanilla tone. Don't get me wrong, I loved it (gifted it), but was expecting more vanilla and less patchouli.

Aceborne

Sweet smelling fragrance. I liked it, not as much as Vanille Fruitee but VF is more feminine and, though it states is unisex, I'm not sure if I could pull it so this one might suit me better, the only issue against buying it is that it reminded me immediately to my Muglers, so it may be a redundant scent. It does seem to have good longevity judging by the paper strip's lingering smell.

Warning: forgot to review it the same day, I think is being now like 2 weeks.

ANDREADOLORES

Im having a hard time to get my grips on this one. To me its a herbal, sightly medicinal dark scent based on vanilla. The strange thing is that i get ALOT of licorice in it, thats not even listed. Am I really the only one?

It is slowly growing on me though. Very unisex. Good sillage and longevity.

gtabasso

Lovely! A dry, herbal cooking vanilla and patch. Balanced. Not a dirty hippie vibe at all.

PurpleIris49

I do not care for this. I am unable to smell anything other than benzoin and sandalwood, with the benzoin being prominent. It reminds me vaguely of a pine forest. Try before you buy. I do agree that it seems masculine, but then we can all wear whatever we like these days. I am a big fan of the new Molinard Patch, but not this one.

DomfromBE

@ Chazas You are definitively right with the niche quality of Les Elements. I'm into Cuir & Ambre. Alone or layered.

Ulusia

Very well blended luxurious smelling patchouli and vanilla, it is unisex but rather more suitable for men but of course a very feminine looking woman would manage to wear this as well. Good price for niche quality and sillage was perfect!

Chazas

New line of unisex Les Elements Collection from Molinard 2015/2016 is not so popular and hard to find, but Vanille Patchouli and Patchouli are absolutely incredible and niche quality, at very good price.
