#255 in my "Tour de Fragrance"

Granted this is very unisex, but anyone can pull this off. I find moss in most any amount offsets the floral notes in a way that prevents the fragrance going full on feminine as I think this otherwise would. Still, you will initially get a powdered laundry detergent hit that takes 20-30 minutes or so to fade.

What I like about this scent and scents like it is that it radiates androgyny, not indeterminate gender as some unisex scents can tend to do. I find androgyny attractive and stimulating, as I hope it will be for the woman I am meeting for lunch. Wish me luck!

Anyone here get a similar vibe to the CLEAN brand scents?

It smells like I used too much detergent on my laundry. Sharp note I dont like on myself.

I had never tried any Montale perfume before. So when someone gave me a sample of the aoud Lagoon in the beginning of this year, I was really curious.

I sprayed a bit on my hand and ...was really disappointed with it. It smelled awful and I washed it of at once, thinking that aoud was not for me.

Reading more and more about Arabian perfumes and the high temperatures in those countries, I decided to give Aoud Lagoon another try yesterday when it was about 37° Celsius in the evening and...I absolutely loved it! I'm going to order myself a full bottle! Flowery, fresh, woody... Incredible that the time of year using it, does so much to a fragrance...

How great is a summer fragrance that doesn't have the typical coconut or lime notes?? This was love at first sniff. And it legit morphs from a cheerful, fruity opening that packs a wallop...evolving to a lovely floral aura then moving onto a slightly sultry, toned down woody dry down finish. I love how it changes gears and moods. For me, the oak moss + vetiver makes this a unique banger as far as summer scents go. Hands down, one of the best blind buys I got so far. Guaranteed compliments whenever worn.

EDIT 7/11/22--Wore this 7/10/22. It was the typical hot, humid Miami summer day. Someone asked me what I was wearing because it smelled so good. The heat really make it show off in the best way. Today, when I picked up the shirt I had on yesterday, it smelled soooooooooooo fkn FANTASTIC! I just buried my face in it and sniiiiiiiiiiiiffffffffffeddddd...ahhhhhh!!!! Heaven!!

This is a very floral-centric fragrance. Specifically, white florals. Fresh and neutral, almost laundry-sheet-esque as others have posted. I don't get a ton of fruit out of this, the mandarin orange is barely noticeable.

A good summer fragrance. Not especially heavy or cloying. Fresh without relying on aquatic notes or aldehydes. Good performance.

Slightly feminine leaning due to the florals being the main focus here, but they aren't sugary sweet florals.

Certainly not an all-time favorite for me. Feels a little too drab, i was expecting a more fruity osmanthus out of this but I got a pretty prominent dryer sheet accord from the florals. It's not unappealing but not especially exciting for me.

There's no oud in this. A better name would be Tiare Lagoon or something because the florals are the star of the show.

floszra

It smells like a laundry detergent. I don't want to smell like this, but it's not unpleasant.

OK fragrance .. opens up with fruity , flowery and dry down woody ... Not for me thou

Not so unique a profile

When I first sprayed this, I was instantly hit with HEAVY floral notes and the opening lasted for quite a long time. I get where Montale was going with the concept as the fragrance is true to the name. It's a watery, fruity, floral and I can imagine being in a lagoon in the tropics. I found the opening to be VERY feminine leaning, but as the opening transitions it becomes more subtle yet not weak either. Make no mistake, the opening and projection packs a punch and longevity is off the hook. I do not recommend blind buying this fragrance and if you're a guy, you may be put off by the opening but give it a chance to develop before dismissing it.
I've enjoyed wearing it today, but I don't see myself reaching for it very often. As with all Montale fragrances the design and packaging are beautiful. It's nice....that's really all I have to say.

This perfume is really different take from the house of Montale. It’s not your typical synthetic, sharp, heavy rose scent which is a signature thing for the brand. Aoud lagoon is super light perfume appropriate for spring and summer. It’s mainly a floral scent but the osmanthus gives it a little bit fruity smell in the opening. The osmanthus flower smells basically like apricot and that is what it smells like to me at first. Then the lotus and tiare are coming in and they make the fragrance creamier and more aquatic (because of the lotus flower note). At first I was not so sure if I like this perfume or not so much but I feel the same for all Montale perfumes. In the begging I’m not the biggest fan and I’m a little bit confused about their fragrances but after awhile I realize that I love them.

Why aren't there more fruity woody scents like this? The combination of uplifting sweet mandarin orange, ultra peachy osmanthus and a heavier, almost bitter base of oud and guaiac wood is beautiful and very original. Lotus and tiare add some aquatic and tropical vibes, but they don't overtake the fragrance.
I really like how this is fresh and at the same time a little mysterious and exotic. Very appropriate for summer, especially for a beach holiday.

Unfortunately there are some moments, especially in the earlier heart phase, where this gets a little too woody on me, and the lovely drydown is rather soft and weak for a Montale. So this is not quite a love for me, but I like and appreciate it a lot. Makes me wonder why this isn't more popular.

Ettescent

This is gorgeous. Unique sweet, aquatic, woody-floral perfect for summer. The osmanthus and lotus are a gorgeous combination, and the stars of the fragrance. The tiare and mandarin surround the osmanthus, and let it shine. The mandarin recedes after the opening. The moss, wood and lotus combine to create an aquatic, white-wood base. No oud whatsoever. A better name might be white lagoon, or osmanthus lagoon. Osmanthus can be a tricky note in perfumes; it can go green and a bitter. The osmanthus in AL is round and soft; and the supporting notes couldn’t be better, mmmmmm. For Montale, the performance is moderate. Total love.

jbeans81

On me this opens LOUD but that only lasts about 10-20 minutes before it settles down into lovely tiare flower and sweet Osmanthus. An hour later, the woods come in, giving it more unisex leaning. The dry down is worth the first screechy 10 minutes. It's really beautiful. I love how the woodsy base gives a slightly smoky effect to the florals. Beautiful tropical woody floral. Great beach scent if you aren't into coconut/lime/sunscreen. 7.5/10 for scent. 10/10 for projection/longevity.

JaeIsFancy

This is a tropical flowers scent with some fruits and light creaminess to it. The opening is effervescent and citrusy but that tones down in a few minutes. Then transcends into the creamy, tropical florals with a slightly aquatic backdrop (possibly the lotus) but doesn’t smell salty or artificial. It reminds me of being on a Polynesian holiday and is unique in my collection. The more I wear it the more I like it but I truly feel like this will shine in the summer time. I can’t wait to go on post pandemic holiday & wear this!

Aoud Lagoon is a clever and refreshing water perfume which doesn't rely on excessive use of aquatic aromachemicals.

The combination of white flowers and lotus gives the impression of clear waters. A deep zest brightens the opening.

Lotus dominates for the first hour on my skin, after which a monoi / tiare note keeps the scent tropical.

A base of light woody notes buffers the scent.

Performance is above average, though more polite than other Montale scents.

Overall, Aoud Lagoon is very likeable, almost elegant. A rare feminine aquatic which smells very pretty indeed. This is a worthy consideration for ladies looking for a hot weather perfume. Recommended!

trailerhead04

Screechy, loud, suffocating sweet tiare BOMB. Unisex, slightly feminine leaning. There is a time and a place for this. I still haven't figured out what that is tho.

PradaGodFatha

This stuff is so unique. Best way i can describe the smell is a juicy strawberry banana smoothie on a cruise ship. Then it dries down to a very unique light-oud floral scent. Perfect for wearing during outdoor settings because it projects like crazy in typical montale fashion. Dont buy this if you're just starting your fragrance journey. This is the type of fragrance that a conissuer will be able to appreciate more than your average perfume user. This is also completely unisex but will be hard for a guy to pull off if he isn't confident

Orbbbbeeezzz

I bought a montale discovery kit with this scent in it. I love it! It is fantastic. The only problem is each bottle smells different. In the discovery kit, it had more tiare and the full bottle had more woods. I smelled my friends and he had gotten more wood as well. It's not an issue because it smells great anyways but I wanted to mention it.

gotvx

It's beautifully floral with a surprising fruity tone as well (tiare and osmanthus). Tropical, subtle, and classy. The clean moss adds the 'lagoon' effect. Too often "tropical", is characterized as having a suntan lotion vibe with coconut, but not this one. Think lotus pond surrounded by fragrant white flowers. This one is another 10/10 from Montale.

Otjello

More feminine in the opening. Drydown is more warm, woody and masculine, real chameleon and an awesome tiare/floral summer scent. Love. 90

Pez_Enelrio

Very groundbreaking fragrance. I love Tiare but I am bored of how in most cases it is mixed with the same ingredients - vanilla, jasmine...etc - and it is really interesting to smell it in hands with intensive woodsy notes.
Actually I cant help it but I it always reminds me of the Coca Cola smell. And that is cool:)

aldinatic

I really like the wooden part of this :) the initial spray is nice sweet :) it really smells clean, I can imagine it wearing on rainy days and feeling good about myself.

joseffgabriel

A beautiful woody floral. It's really rounded, non-pungent gentle floral with a beautiful osmanthus heart. Dont let the name fool you, this is unique and undescribable. No oud. Just woody florals and little bit of fruits. Leans feminine too. Smells deluxe. The drydown smells like fruity, creamy, woody bubblegum. Montale really impresses me in their drydown. It smells woody on my mom and floral bomb on me. Its a compliment getter if applied with the right amount

AmoreProfumi

This is pretty, it's a very subdued Aoud for someone who likes Aoud but doesn't like it to be heady spicy & in your face. It's more about the florals definitely but the Aoud is still very much detectable. Smells like a classy fresh spicy floral fragrance. I was in search of a new summer scent & Montale is one of my favorite niche brands & the Aoud Lagoon peaked my interest..but alas the hunt continues, nice but I wasn't in love with it also don't get a real tropical vibe from it.

cranky137

From the name, I expected aquatic + oud blend. But I was soo wrong (or were the creators wrong??), Aoud Lagoon is a Beautiful White/pink floral.

For me, it is all about osmanthus, lotus and mandarin. I do not feel tiara flower (actually, I don't like tiara at all, so I am happy it is not about tiare). I disagree that it feels tropical, since there is no clear coconut/vanilla/tiara scent. It is aquatic only in the sense of lotus. It has some oud in the opening but it is almost unrecognizable.

This is not a typical "in-your-face" Montale, but rather a well-blended floral that suits more to a syster Mancera house. It is definitely feminine.

You get good sillage and excellent projection, while not being cloyeing.

So nice that I might consider FB. Longevity about 5h.

Give it a try and don't be blinded by the name and promotion poster :)

esteban747

Aoud lagoon feels tropical, the Aoud is present but just barely perceptible way back in the background.
True, the first impression is not exactly of a masculine scent. Perhaps of a unisex perfume that tilts towards the feminine side.
But wait, wait, give it some time. That's why people make mistakes choosing a fragrance, they only judge the top notes.
Soon after the floral opening I get the fruits, a sort of peach, berry, pineapple punch still carrying the heady sweet note of tiare.
And now is when the dry " masculine" ingredients appear, the oakmoss, vetiver and wood notes, leaving the fruity cocktail behind as if it never happened.
It's an interesting fragrance, constantly morphing. I like it but I should say that this is not a scent for every guy. Still, I'm enjoying it!

Anteatereatingant

Quite possibly my favorite perfume ever. I fell completely in love with it on first sniff - HOLY guacamole is this good!

A sweet, very unisex, beachy floral with soft orange undertones - pure sun and summer.Very strong and long-lasting too. I can smell it on myself for a good two hours after application, which might not sound impressive until you consider that I can rarely smell my own perfumes. I can smell the initial blast and maybe another 20-30 minutes later; beyond that point it'll pretty much only be other people who smell them.

On clothes it lasts 24+ hours most of the time.

PricklyAndHot

I expected something more tropical and aquatic. Nothing special.

Cauda Pavonis

This is a strange oud, very floral, almost aquatic. A conspicuous fragrance with impressive projection. It's a happy, simple fragrance reminds me of some cheaper perfumes I've tried - a big, happy floral with some juicy, fruity undertones - but very well executed. I can definitely pick up the rubbery note of oud in the background but this is, first and foremost, front and center, a cheery, sweet-ish floral, with the oud and vetiver giving the faintest structure in the base. An attractive and enjoyable fragrance.

larita91

The initial spray gives me some retro feeling, but then it settles into a yummy spicey-leathery scent. Alas, only for 20-30 minutes or less. Then comes the drydown, which is totally like Intense Tiare on me. Maybe a little bit softer with some leather with it. Still yummy, but not like "wow". After that it stays linear, no more changes.
I would've loved that spicey leather smell this perfume starts with.

seekritdude

I actually found this more tropical smelling than the tropical wood that was released at the same time. Notes are a little misleading I guess as I actually found this very tropical, fruity and nice.

Smells good, I cant justify my disposable income for it, but I would wear it randomly.

elenakoles

This one is not your typical Montale - not as heady, heavy and over-the-top, nor is it oriental. I see (or rather, smell) it as gorgeous, happy and very well-executed combination of floral and aquatic notes, with my darling osmanthus in leading position. Nothing is over the top here - it is not overly sweet or cloying, not too green, but very balanced and subtle. Definitely evokes thoughts of travel to warmer coasts, vacations, summer and romance (yes, romance and not seduction:-)) Respectable silage and longevity, and a very pleasant dry-down. After going through my sample I ended up buying a full 100 ml bottle from the wonderful NYC perfumery Osswald (they sell online too). This newcomer frag is not easily available in the US, so if you want to enjoy it this summer and wear something unique, I highly recommend Aoud Lagoon!

rogson

Really beautiful in the opening, infused with the osmanthus which really carries this scent. There is a little fruitiness in the beginning but the osmanthus soon takes over and steals the show. Some woodiness blends to enhance. Fresh and new, a perfect spring fragrance. Then it evolves to a more jasmine heavy scent and I am no longer in love.
