This is actually a nice cherry scent. If you find the cherry note in perfumes like Tresor Nuit Intense and
La petite Robe noir, to dry and cough sirup- like, then the cherry note in Montale Intense Cherry is much more pleasent. However, it's nothing like Tom Ford lost Cherry, which is much deeper and spicier. Montale Intense Cherry is female 100% in my opinion, the only problem - a major problem - is that it's a skin scent, unlike many Montale fragrances. The Montale DNA is also less prominent, if you're looking for something that's not beastmode.

I have a 20 ml bottle of this - will I go for a full bottle when that one is empty? No, not likely, but I will enjoy the 20 ml, and maybe layer with it. Compared to Mancera Wild cherry, the Montale Intense cherry is more airy. The Mancera Wild cherry has the same cherry note as in La petite robe noir, only MUCH stronger, you only smell the cherry in that one, and I find it unwearable, whereas in the Montale Intense cherry, other notes like bergamot and rose are detectable. But the name is misleading - this is not "intense" in any shape or form.

When you open the parcel (if you
recieve it in the Post/by Carrier etc -
or even if you purchased it in a
Department Store you should
shake the bottle a little then
use two tiny sprays (it might
not smell exactly right yet,)
but this adds just a smidgen
of air into it & helps with the
next part.

Then - shake the bottle (Hard!)
For a full two minutes!
Then pop it in your living room
or similar where it's slightly warm;
& in a dark cupboard or drawer

Then leave it for three weeks.
It will settle - molecularly.
Very important that it does
but it must be in a slightly (!)
warm dark cupboard or drawer.
Not a cold room. Definitely not.

(Trust me, I have a Scientific PhD
from before I wrote full time) -

these modern Gourmandes are
made from certain chemicals
which are fairly volatile/changeable
& shy sometimes - the vanille & mid
notes tend to disappear in cold
warehouses & overnight when they're
transported & sit in vans/warehouses.
They just hate being stored in the cold
& hate being transported more.

Then, after a full three weeks -
yes I know it's a bit rubbish
& not very spontaneous/fun!)
shake it again Very Hard
For one to two minutes
Very hard! Each time!
Then when you spray it
it should be perfect &
All the Notes should
show up.

Later store it in a cool dark place.
Not a slightly warm one.

You'll find all your Gourmandes + any
of the newer reformulations of such
as JPG - Now made by Puig!
Like all the Paco Rabanne pfmes
& any not over £120 per bottle
tend to be exactly the same
- they don't use what they used to
& these jokers who make these
perfumes use the IFRA Regulation
Nightmare to basically have an
excuse to switch most of the
accords for Much Cheaper
materials & it's all a bit dody.
This works though - works wonders
on most perfumes espc Gourmandes

This is a mess! Bubbles1964 is absolutely right! Smells like hairspray on me! It’s a NO for me.

emerson10

a musky cherry -- the cherry is not particularly syrupy or saccharine -- nice though. Drydown is reminding me of Malibu Musk and Calyx

OTA Mom

Intense? Not hardly. A pretty, soft cherry floral. Hilde Soliani's Una Tira L'Altra is the real deal if you seek intense cherry.

Bubbles1964

I’m going to be completely honest; I have no idea what I’m smelling. But I know one thing, and one thing only: this is not a cherry scent. It’s floral, and sweet and very synthetic.

msamber86

This starts out with a synthetic cherry mixed with citrus to bring out the sourness of the cherry with a bit of musk in the background. The musk doesn’t balance out the sourness of the fruit. It just sits there at the end being unpleasant. The cherry itself smells very fake but thankfully it doesn’t last long and this turns into a sweet generic floral scent. It’s an okay scent but not the holy grail cherry I am searching for.

Patricia888

This is really intense, intense sweetness that you should be careful with. Consider wearing it in spring or colder summer nights. This can easily become head-ache and tooth-ache inducing if you`re too liberate with it.

Szafirowy czar

I'm not in love with this fragrance and don't dislike it at the same time. Its musky and woody notes are very pretty, this is what I am searching for in my perfume, however I don't feel they're balanced well enough by the sweet tones and, in effect, they seem to be more masculine than feminine to my taste. I like these notes much better in Narciso Rodriguez' Musk for her. Also, the cherry note is almost not detectable, I wish there was more of it...

fanntonyoscar

This is beyond what I thought Montale’s version of horrible would be. If there’s any cherry here, it’s a rotting one buried below mounds of musty clothing in a stale pile at a yard sale.

Nanalvzpink

This reminds me of wild cherry by Mancera. I don’t get much of a cherry note. To me it smells like Nivea cream.

The more I wear it, the more I like it. This scent has to grow with you. Give it a chance.
I noticed that I started to really love it once I smelled the shirt I had on when I wore this perfume. I continue to be very surprise at how long the smell lingers on clothes for days!

VTori

First time I've ever been disappointed by a Montale fragrance. Generally powerhouses, but this barely lasts on me and severely lacks cherry. The rose and jasmine combo is great, as usual, but the cherry is almost nonexistent. I prefer sour cherry notes, but the sweetness of the jasmine takes the sour edge off and just makes this into a basic fruity floral with a cherry focus. Certainly a gourmand, but a fail as far as sour cherry notes go.

Nice and fresh, but if I wanted fresh I would have bought something else.

Voyagevoyage33

Haven’t explored gourmands too much but I like this one. Smells somewhat familiar, like a nice sweet body cream from the Body Shop and I guess would pair nicely with flowery or fruity lotions. Some similarity in the opening with Very Irresistible - as said by another reviewer below. Vanilla forward in the dry down. Takes me to a happy place during bleak November days. Might purchase depending on how I get on with the rest of my sample.

Gruhlanska96

I really don’t like it. There’s no cherry here for me. It reminds of a Dior perfume. This is not a gourmand fragrance at all!

e120le

Montale if he doesn't do the rose-oud combo but a unexpected note (cherry), has to put sandalwood and jasmine in it. How to ruin a perfume that could have been softer and amazing due to note of the cherry.

twiztidladii

I was let down by a few other popular Cherry scents while on my mission to find the perfect Cherry (IMO). I sampled this and was pleasantly surprised. It’s definitely a burst of Cherry and the Bergamot really helps ramp it up. And as time passes the florals, Jasmine & Rose, come into play and they just mingle together in all the right ways. Still not what I was looking for though as far as the perfect Cherry. So onto the next one...

SuzScents

This DOES in fact make a great air freshener! In my search for a holy grail black cherry fragrance, Montale's Intense Cherry 🍒 hit my radar. I ordered a decant with great anticipation/expectations. Nope. The cherry opening was promising, though not the deep, organically luscious scent I was hoping for. The dry down was okay, but overall, this didn't wow me.

I sprayed this on a perfume test strip which I set aside, near a window that catches the afternoon sun, and promptly forgot about it. Well, Intense Cherry reacts to intense heat, it seems. The whole room smelled like it does after I burn cherry vanilla incense; with a hint of men's cologne.

Hmmm...

Nraveles

This doesn’t havent Oud in it does it? Idk why but I’m getting a slight Oud feel to this. It has a very similar vibe of Sugar Oud by Les Fleurs Du Golfe which is Oud and passionfruit. Hm...

Celestya

A cherry candy in a bottle, more for fall and winter. Not serious scent, fun, more for woman and young. I agree with the comments below .
5/10, not my type

SwatchQueen

Why do I smell poop on this one? Like a nice bathroom that someone just pooped and covered by air freshener. I could smell a small hint of cherry at the opening, then it becomes sweet, it all goes away and all is left is nice fragrant flowers with a hint of poop.

miarose

I was hoping to like this a lot. I tend to like even cherry scents that are somewhat medicinal. But this one is just not to my liking. It is sweet, artificial almost-cherry, very floral, and not particularly intense in the way I want. All the reviews that say it smells like air freshener...I agree. It smells like a well-done Glade air freshener, but it still has that vibe. I'm hit and miss with Montale, and this one is a miss.

lyka

ivaylops

It really smells like a cheap air freshener. I love cherry but this is a hard pass. I wouldn't want to smell this on a woman too.

jenn.sacks

Nasty fake cheap air freshener smell. I like a lot of montale, and was REALLY hoping to like this, but just no

Emorandeira

I have bought this perfume blind. I Hope find here a really intense cherry, something like Lost cherry by Tom Ford, but with the montale's performance. However the cherry here is very subtle. What i get the most is a very nice vanilla-musk-rose fragance, very close to intense café but changing the subtle coffee on that one for the subtle cherry here.

The performance as the montale It is is good. Very good longevity and moderate sillage. Regarding the unisex tag i am a man i am perfectly able to wear It. It is true that the opening is a bit more feminine but the dry down is basically vanilla. Just un case i would recommend to try before buying because if you are a Man Who Live very masculine fragances (with leather, oatchouli, Woods, Green notes...) Probably you would find this one a bit too sweet and floral for you.

Sometimes, especially with Montale, I wonder why scents are labeled as Unisex when they are nothing but man or woman ... period!

This one is, most definitely, a scent that belongs on NO man ... ever ... for any reason! Do they do this false-flag unisex-thing to increase sales? If so, then it is underhanded, false-advertising, and not appreciated. Montale Intense Cherry should have been sold as a women's scent!

It is a very basic cherry/vanilla with a slight radiance of rose nestling just behind it, and that's about it. I do not smell any of the other notes listed here, and it would appear that no one else reviewing here does either.

I wanted to like this, but it is far too feminine for a man, and it's too bland for my wife. Oh well. Ya can't win 'em all.

Grasshoppaaa

Intense Cherry is a fruity aromatic musk. In the opening spritz, you get a splash of sweet synthetics, brushed over a mild sweet cherry (with what seems like a touch of cola to it), and a faint touch of vanilla and florals deepening the sweetness.

It almost feels like Montale was aiming for a naturalist style here, yet the simplicity also kinda comes off to me like his intention could have been to cheapskate an easy release.

I don't think the fragrance is especially bad, but I think it might definitely be hard to appreciate. The style feels a bit vintage, as there's a faint haziness enveloping the notes, much like that in the style of vintage perfumery.

The collection of notes themselves aren't especially vintage in any way, but would have been very fresh and modern in their time. It just has this hazy oversoul to it from the musk in the backdrop, that makes it smell grannyish in ways.

Montale is prominently a granny lover. I lost count how many of his works (especially form this brand) that caters to that crowd. But this one I think, would especially be a crowd pleaser. The style is mature, but the aroma feels very fresh and youthful. The fruity floral aroma is both soft and comforting, and has qualities that can be easy to love for the right person.

The sandalwood essence (not natural—but I think a recombined accord of lactones, javanol, and alpha-santalol) provides a touch of abrasive stimulation. It warms the senses significantly, and provides a texture that I think really gives heart to the fragrance.

Almost extremely hard to tell that he was holding back here, or that a naturalist style wasn't just perfectly executed. Impossible for me though to shake the feeling that there's an empty space here. I'd say that cola from the opening is exactly it though.

If that were implemented to stand out a bit more and stick around, this fragrance would be perfectly complete in my opinion. I don't think it would have lost its intended style at all either—only perfected it fully—given the immense nostalgia from soda shops in vintage times.

PricklyAndHot

Just very light cherry. Nothing special(

dzingunyte

just opening was nice.. now i still can smell it on my scarf.. bah.. unpleasant sweetness.. probably ill wash it tomorrow.. i dont like this at all.. cheap sweetness.. im staying off of Montale perfumes.. smells very synthetic

Taxidermy

More rose than cherry. It reminds me a bit of Very Irresistible.

Caddence

Sweet, cherry, very light, girly. Simple.
Not impressed.
Staying power and silage less then mediocre.

Constansa

probably expected too much from this. it was a blind buy just imagining how nice it should smell black cherry and knowing the compositions and smell of other Montale perfumes. but... fruity - yes, cherry - yes. but definitely not this black juicy cherry. something soft spring wise, but nothing really intense. i expected a bit more sweet but also missed that. glad i bought only small bottle of this (20ml). would say it will be nice summer perfume (other Montale in my opinion may not be a proper summer ones).
