So unique, so divine, and affordable!

bakalivest

A disappointment personally for me not a gourmand scent at all. It reminds me of Hugo Boss The Scent Magnetic in a more feminine way but still I don’t like either of those.

vargadorkaluca

I own this fragrance for more than a year now and I rarely reach for it. But I must say whenever I do I compliment myself on it and others notice it too!
It has a strong bubblegum opening like others said, which sometimes I like and sometimes I don’t want to smell it.
After this the vanillin starts to appear and the peru balsam makes it kind of incense like and little bit spicy.
Somehow the mix of these two things combined with the almonds which I don’t smell individually creates a white chocolate experience.
I need to be in the mood for something extra sweet to enjoy this fragrance but it works when I am.
The sillage dies down rather quickly and becomes close to the skin but the longevity is great. I can still smell it after 8 hours.

HeavyBeatsUK

I get soooo many compliments when I wear this. It smells like my childhood - just beautiful!

Timofejeva

This is my first MAJOR dissapointment in Montale frags. This smells straight up like a cheap piece of soap with a fake strawberry scent. I don't know what cakes people have been eating that smells like this, but this is not a gourmand, at least no to me. I wouldn't even put a bubblegum that smells like this in my mouth. Will be trying to mix the 5ml decant with other scents that I have or resell it to someone. I couldn't smell it in the store first, cause cremedelacreme doesn't carry this Montale frag. Now I know why. Noone would buy it.

lucia87

Nope! Artificial bubble gum with first spray and after a little while it's joined by incense.
On the other hand, oh boy, it last forever! I was really trying hard to get a rid of it and I could not.

chnui

I bought this only based on recommendations and the reviews that this smells like Barbie hair smell, or the smell of doll. I was looking for a more synthetic doll smell and this ain’t it! I just smelled like a cupcake. It was very sweet, which I normally don’t like at all, and had a fake strawberry smell like a chapstick. I saw that other people here mentioned this was very strawberry forward but I was hoping that would settle into more of that “doll hair” scent. Didn’t work for me, especially since I don’t like very sweet scents. But for a person that does like those sweet, synthetic, cupcake-like scents then this would work. Sillage is moderate and so is the projection. Longevity is about 2-3 hours max.

Charmedbymeghan

Definitely a fake strawberry note. Like strawberry-scented pen ink? That's what this smells like. So I guess similar to that strawberry doll-head vibe. I guess it's not for me like I was hoping. I wish I smelled anything resembling almond because I love that note. Or that the vanilla was stronger to drown out the fake strawberry note more. What an odd one. I don't hate it by any means but I can think of hundreds of better fragrances.

aegh.98

If I had to buy a perfume for strawberry shortcake this will be the one! I love this one with my entire heart. Was a blind buy and I couldn't be happier with my purchase✨️ it lasts forever. Not a fragance foe everyone, tho! I don't get the synthetic smell some people mention! Also, I have got several compliments while wearing this perfume. I'll be repurchasing

tino.herger

Really? My first review after YEARS of being a member. And it's for likely one of the most controversial fragrances out there. I have spent a long time researching it, watching videos, reading reviews on and on and on. And when I received a coupon to get a 100ml bottle for roughly 70$ I just had to BLIND BUY it.
Ok, I do get that urinal stone vibe, but boy is this a luxury urinal and if public washrooms would smell like this, well, there's nothing to complain. It actually does remind me of a bathrom scent my parents used back in the days (like... 40 years ago...). I really love it - maybe it's just the memories of a wonderful childhood it brings back? So be it!
I don't get any 'fresh' strawberry, rather one that's been sitting on a window sill in the sun for a while. And I like that, too.
Looks like this is one of those Marmite/Cilantro situations... you either love it or you hate it. I love Marmite and I love Cilantro... and i LOVE Mukhallat! Folks, if you are unsure, get a decant or a sample and try for yourselves. I agree that blind buying this is kind of a risk, but it's not like you're jumping off a cliff, right? So even if you blind buy it and end up hating it... there's plenty or resell opportunities :-)

I won a sample of this from another frag head; and man, I do not like this one iota. It's oddly sweet in a way that reminds me of toys that were scented in a kinda fruity way. Rubber, almonds and a sweet fruitiness is what I get. I wore what I had for a few days to gave it my full try, and it's just not for me. My bodies ph didn't seem to like it. I could see how ppl like it though kinda. Performance wasn't the greatest, it's more of a skin scent on me. The juice is also a bright cherry hue which reminds me of red5 food coloring, or maybe a perfume for a child. I could see this perfume going with that whole Lolita/Lana Del Rey vibe as it has a childlike yet adult kinda vibe. Interesting nonetheless.

toosimilar

Pardon @Chuneyes, I also dislike the perfume but aspartame doesn't smell anything

Htodd

I’m afraid to spray this on myself. I purchased a sample based on reviews that mentioned it smelling like a plastic doll head. Unfortunately, I would have to agree with the other review here that likened it to urinal cakes. I can also see the hubba bubba comparisons. Reminds me a lot of Kilian’s Love Don’t be Shy, which is another one I don’t care for.

Chuneyes

I have a weird association with this it smells like urinal cakes and aspartame, the dry down is much better. I hate this perfume though 😭😭😭😭

gelatobby

Seriously what are people on? It’s true that this has a fake cosmetic scent profile but cheap plastic?? No, this is expensive SOAP. The synthetuc quality it has is reminiscent of soap and not plastic or eraser. Showed this to my brother and he also got soap so I just don’t understand how people compare this to a cheap chinese store when this is an expensive french spa

7street7

I absolutely love this fragrance and it's been one of my favourites ever since i got it and i'm glad i have a full bottle. It starts off as a very plasticy, strawberry scented eraser then slowly develops into a more powdery, woody and even sort of smoky strawberry scent. It's very feminine leaning to my nose too. I can understand why one might dislike this though, it's ultra sweet and almost sticky. I usually hate super sweet scents but this one is a guilty pleasure to me. The sent is very strong and i could smell it on myself all day long. Not blind buy safe at all in my opinion but personally i love it.

Bebelusica

I LOVE THIS PERFUME SOOOOOOOOooOoooOooOoooOoooO MUCH!
If I could afford to, I'd buy 100 bottles of these and shower in them.
Like, this is just the cutest smell EVER.

It smells like strawberry shortcake dolls and those adorable scented erasers and car freshener (in the best way), it's so nostalgic and sweet and creamy and yummy and everything perfect and ughhhh, I've been wanting this for like 2 years and I finally got it as a "blind buy" (I knew it was exactly what I was looking for because I researched this perfume so much but I had never smelled it before so it was a blind buy) a couple months ago and I've found my favorite perfume in the entire world. Like I can't get over it omg.

The performance isn't as good as everyone else says. I'm sad about that. Maybe I got a diluted bottle? I'd hope not... Either way, I sprayed like 10 puffs of this all over myself including clothes but it just didn't project enough for someone next to me to smell it.

I will still use this and love it though <3

achatina

This is the real Barbie perfume. Smells like those Chinese erasers from the past or like Happy shower gel by Lush.

StinkyKat

This fragrance is quite synthetic but I kinda like it 😊. It reminds me of some 90's coloring markers with fragrance. I wear this during spring and layer sometimes with Amber from Giardino Benessere.

bajablast

i spend hours reading the reviews on this specific scent. i have such a weird fascination with it. i've been trying to "figure it out" for as long as i've owned it

ninalumi

Absolute fail for me. I thought I would love it based on the notes but to me the it smell like cheap plastic. Like when you open an Aliexpress package. The opening is very harsh and feels almost toxic. The drydown is musky with a hint of geriatric ointment. The longevity is incredible though. You might need a couple of showers.
Definitely not a safe blind buy.

Hannibal_Lecter

Straight up just Bubblegum vibes in your face.Maybe it's reminiscing thoughts of the the bubble gum sticks inside the WWF wrestling cards I collected as a kid and chew whilst flicking through lookin for a new Hulk Hogan card .I like the sugary sweetness is but warning its overload & theres no change from application to dry down it's all one tone. It's unisex leaning more female but a dude can pull it off easily too (haven't tested it on the ladies yet or may induce diabetes its so sweet)...but I do I like wearing it to mix it amongst everything else as it's so different nothing indepth just pure bubblegum.....which ain't bad

ladymia6969

What fresh hell is this?!
A saccharine, odious, accursed, devil's-daughter-pink concoction made of the vomit of strawberry sprites after they ate all of the circa 1982 mentholatum ointment out of an old person's medicine cabinet.

The perfumers made this as an inside joke, and they are giggling at everyone who bought and wears this.

AlexaRSandrina

such a nostalgic scent, it smells like 2000` lip roll oil with strawberry flavour

CharlRuston

I really love the dry down of this. I love sweet fragrances but I wouldn’t say it’s supper sickeningly sweet or cloying for me. The projection on me isn’t as crazy as other commenters. It’s a bubblegum strawberry scent similar to those Melissa jelly shoes. The opening is a littler harsher and can smell a little cleaning product-like. But I think it’s totally wearable and inoffensive in my opinion. But definitely leans more feminine to me. I really love it.

Rosiewebber

Ok I can totally see the strawberry doll-head comparison. It reminds me of those gift shops you go in when you’re on holiday, that sell the beautiful seashells and glass mobiles. It’s a very synthetic, strawberry incense smell.

Sally_pita^^

Baby this perfume is a sweet monster from Chernobyl. Yes , I mean it. Like you took all the chemicals on earth and put it in this bottle and after to hide this hideous thing you put strawberry cream on top.

So until it's in the bottle you are safe, because nothing seems odd with it. Even you smell this nice strawberry cream... but when you spray it on skin this is when everything will messes up.
I think this perfume needs warning like "S.O.S: DANGEROUS RADIATION"

Definitely not blind buy perfume and don't even think to spay it on clothes. It's sticky and oily.
Very artificial notes.

Silage is very strong,
Longevity is more then 8 hr.
Notes are noted and even more as I told you.
age limitation : toxic for any age.
Original name : S.O.S Sweet monster from Chernobyl.

vrosej10

I love this but it's a 100% clone of Al Haramain Makkah at a price point eight times higher. buy the other one instead. great fragrance though. big strawberry incense. epic performance. cannot fault it

maryfairb

I want to start by saying that I am a Montale girlie. I have no problem with bold projection and even a synthetic edge to my perfumes. That being said, I find Mukhallat off-putting and disappointing. In theory, it has all things I love: strawberry, almond, vanilla, and balsam. In actuality, it is a dead ringer for the scented strawberry erasers I would use as a kid. If that sounds appealing to you, then right on. I for one, am so glad I only got a tester of this perfume.

ShadMu

oh my god i can’t believe that THIS is considered as a FRAGRANCE!!
it is the worst fragrance that i ever smelled in my life, i thought this would be a rich big strawberry scent, but oohh!
it smells like a bathroom freshener with a hint of bubblegum.

tyeta

OMG!
This is just horrible.

I don't even know where to begin....

This is straight out a hair spray to my nose!
Literally sweet intoxicating bubble-gum hair spray!
Got this as a blind buy. The reviews were very enticing, but boy... do I have regrets.
Sidenote though, I must say it does layer well and almost perfectly with my other vanilla frags.
However, just stand-alone use is not worth the penny seeing I spent $180!!

Not a safe blind buy at all!!! And I mean at all!!

Anyagb115

I don’t get the ‘immature’ labels at all. This is an amber middle-eastern smelling fragrance, with an interesting kick. There is sweet strawberry, but the almond is giving it a ‘poisonous’ smell. I think it’s sexy. I detect smokiness in the middle and drydown.

There’s a bit of a doll head vibe in the top notes, but that doesn’t mean a child should wear it. Unless they have a very intense personality. lol.

I love this fragrance, and get a ton of compliments on it. It suits me. And the longevity and sillage are beastly. Only 2 or 3 sprays max required, and I’m normally an oversprayer because a lot of fragrances don’t last on me. Montale is great for this.

kiracoutinho

It smells exactly like a strawberry shortcake doll. I personally hated it, but i know several people who would love to smell like her. Not blind buy safe. Very plasticky and artificial. I can totally see a 15 year old rocking this.

elina_molin

This is indeed childhood memories from the 80s of scented toys. I like it a lotta.

her6

Smells like a store-bought bubble solution. Great for kids, not for adult women.

aflakes

This literally smells like a strawberry car freshener in the opening. The drydown is sooo nostalgic though! I had a "baby all gone" doll in the 90s where you fed her cherries. This particular doll was scented and smelled just like this fragrance! This is definitely one of those unusual smelling fragrances, but I actually like it.

nassiesamou

Superrrrr sweet, synthetic strawberry. I love sweet scents, but this could definitely give me a headache. there's a cloying bubblegummy feel to it that I kind of can't stand. good performance though. the sillage is killer

bajablast

My longest lasting scent. Maybe even more so than Baccarat. I've received comments on this 12+ hrs after applying. I definitely offended people by wearing it in the summer, but I get eager to test out my new purchases😅. I don't understand the "urinal cake" comparisons at all. Personally I've only come across pine and citrus scented bathroom products so I'm used to finding such reviews under similar scent profiles. I do however agree with the plastic, pink hubba bubba, artificial strawberry comments. If I'm being fully honest with myself, I don't think I would've bought a full bottle had I sampled it first, but I have no regrets anyway. Once you go Montale, everything else seems like water.

GabbieSmithWindley

The ultimate Old-Millennial nostalgia scent. Smells like if Polly Pocket made a fragrance. Now all I need is my Lisa Frank Trapper Keeper and Bonne Bell Lip Smackers roll on lip gloss.

pashaagirl

This smells straight like the small village markets in Turkey.
it takes me back to my childhood days when we went to Turkey and i went into a small market to buy a treat.

chaseicons

this reminds me of when u walk into a hippie shop with like dream catchers on the walls and naturally made bath and body products

it smells good 😇

mhyhyh

bye this smells like those pink liquid hand soaps in public bathrooms

nonelle

For me this synthetic pink children's sugary bubblegum. I can imagine this would be a signature scent for a Barbie doll. I think it's a fun scent, but it's definitely not for me. I wouldn't buy a whole bottle and I would be careful if you are considering making a blind buy on this.

Bordo

This doesn't smell like strawberry candy to me, more like inexpensive sweet strawberry scented incense sticks (but no smoke!) or overall sweet scent + some air, lingering in an oriental shop. But I mean it in the kindest way possible, because I adore this perfume. It is very oriental to me, in a way that I would not expect. Of you wanted oriental perfume, but you are afraid and scary, bacause you generally prefer sweet, cute, fruity scents and you are afraid to try something oriental in fear of it being too overwhelming with strong, specific notes like Oud or afraid it would smell just like a designer dupe... This is your salvation. It also has this cute mystic chick vibe, like some fortune-teller who is also girly. It gives similar emotional /feel as some Lush fragrances and somewhat even reminds of Lush - Lust to me. The two layer beautifully.
Performance is superb!
Oh, and I can't stand musky perfumes, but it doesn't bother me in Mukhallat:)

Candylover666

Oh wow, I did not realise so many people disliked this perfume.
This is one of my favorites and obviously perfumes smell different on different people but I’ve always gotten compliments on it, people have told me it smells like bubblegum, scented candles, donuts and doll heads.
On my skin the vanilla and strawberry really stand out, however the strawberry is very plasticky so don’t expect a realistic strawberry.
This is a hard candy or gummy bear kind of strawberry.
On my skin is smells very vanillic, reminds me of strawberry filled donuts.
I blind bought this perfume and fell in love with it immediately but I do recommend to others to get a tester before they decide to buy the whole bottle.

Brutus

Oh, I like this one.
It makes me nostalgic and removes me straight to the 80's due it (like i remember it) smells exactly like a scented eraser.

Ceevee963

Blind bought a full bottle of this and it's a big regret. I wanted that sweet, baby doll scent that others described. But sadly I get the pink urinal cake. This has been sitting on a shelf for about a year now. When it first arrived, I sprayed it on my legs for fear it would choke me out if I wore it anywhere else. Well guess what? It still choked me out and I have not tried to wear it on my skin again since then. I keep returning to it, hoping that it has mellowed or my nose has changed but I JUST sniffed it again and y'all that urinal cake is intense. This will be leaving my collection this year; in no situation would I be comfortable wearing this around people.

smellsconfuseme

This smells EXACTLY like a pink urinal cake, exactly. Good performance though lol.

Patr70

I [totally] agree with Trumanperp. This fragrance, on my skin, smells [exactly] like cheap chemical toilet bowl disenfectant/cleaner that you would find in a public restroom at a public high school, urban park, or city beach. Awful!

promiseropion

I don't get any of the comparison to plastic dolls or eraser at all. Although that is exactly what made me buy it blindly.

To my nose this is a berry and clean musk scent with a touch of montale's signature oud at the initial spray. It'll get creamier and more musky, and at the end of its life it becomes one more time more fruity clean musk without the oud. The musk here reminded me a lot of The Body Shop's White Musk for Men.

I find this truly unisex. Right in the middle. Not a sophisticated scent, but definitely a good easy reach. Goes very well with casual look. I live in Indonesia. A tropical country. And this goes very well under the heat.

trumanpurp1e

as a strawberry enthusiast, this broke my heart. i do not detect any strawberry at all. in fact, the only memory i get from mukhallat is the smell of a high school bathroom first thing in the morning before it was plagued with the stench of vape juice.

confetti.mu

Big strawberry!? Where!!??

When I spray this perfume, the powerful fumes of a busy public bathroom sucker punches me in the nose. Teleporting me into The Backrooms of endless rows of toilet stalls and urinals, secreting cheap dollar store perfumy floral notes from urinal cakes and blue toilet water.

I do not get the playful scent of strawberry sweets or nostalgic scented rubber doll heads from childhood. The reviews that tell you so have got to be kidding, because if you wear this, people will think you smell like a toilet (they might not have the heart to tell you though...).

This was a blind purchase and will be returned asap. Do sample before purchasing...(or else..🤧🚽🚻🧻🪠)

Scentloves

A sweet mess. I'm m not sure what to think of this one. Sometimes I like it and sometimes it makes my stomach sickly turns. I do not get strawberry tho it smells like stale crushed nuts or cookies and licorice from in between the seats from a car.

AuraAngelMuse

I've wanted to buy this perfume for a couple years now, but the doll head comparisons put me off. Finally took a chance on it. The first two things that came to my mind: 1. Cherry car air freshener that you hang on your mirror. 2. Cherry scented soap at the car wash. So for me, this is nostalgic in a different way than those comparing it to doll heads, yet it still ends up smelling familiar.

I don't really feel like it's as strong as the reviews made it seem, not for me at least, I'm sure that will be a mixed bag for any perfume. I sprayed it all over my shirt, on my neck, and wrists and now it has good projection. However one spray was absolutely not enough for me. But then again I'm used to super strong and sweet perfumes, that's my perfume genre that I'm comfortably settled in.

I definitely get the incense vibe as well, something about it reminds me of when I was a teenager and used to go inside the store in the mall called 360°. They had all kinds of incense so the smell filled the entire store. The way my mind associates this with giving your car a bubble bath just makes me feel sweet and clean while wearing it🤣 Lasts a long time, especially on clothes. It feels like the longer I wear it, the stronger and louder it becomes which is usually the opposite for perfumes so I enjoy that aspect.

I feel like this is going to take some time to really grow on me because for right now, it's kind of just a super sweet cherry and that's all, not much depth to the notes for me. This doesn't really make me feel beautiful, sexy, confident, etc. It's slightly nostalgic but I can't tie it to any specific memories so really it doesn't evoke tons of emotions. Overall I feel like...I just smell like a car air freshener and while it's a pleasant smell, I'm just not sure if I love it as a perfume. I will report back if it changes significantly after wearing it longer. I just got it a couple days ago.

Edit: A few days after my initial review, this perfume started smelling like cherry incense so much that I was nauseated by it. I really thought I was going to give it away. But then for some reason the incense toned down again and now I just get the sweet cherry and it's even slightly bubblegummy now, which I really like. I kept going back to sniff it and realized it does have an addicting quality. One that made me want to keep wearing it even when it was nauseating 🤣 This is definitely a perfume you could tie to a scent memory so wear with caution.

meama

Pink scented plastic dolls'hair ...eurgh 🤢

MabelleBeauty

Sweet yummy synthetic strawberry! Very fruity and almost like bubble gum!

Yalamddd

This is very odd. I smell rose and cherry with powder and maybe a hint of pine? There is a hint of something poisonous/synthetic but can't put finger on it
Something is making my throat burn a bit. It's very strong. I I like it more than I dislike it. Will need to layer this something bc I can see it making me dizzy already on it's own. I'd rec a decant of this before buying. I got it ridiculouly on sale so I just did the whole thing but I know most of it will go wasted.

CristinaCC

For me Mukhallat smells sweet and poisonous at the same time. I mainly smell strawberries, vanilla and cyanide. It's not linear, it becomes sweeter and sweeter as time goes by, and finally powdery. It doesn't seem like a girly perfume to me, but a femme fatale perfume, very sexy and unique.

Rhiannandb

im getting that pink soap from school or public washrooms with some flintstone vitamins mixed in

Freshskin

Ohh strawberry erasers 🍓✏️ and 90’s scented cupcake dolls 🧁👧🏼 we meet again at last (If you were born any time before 1989, you probably remember these babies, they were the cutest dolls, that you could transform into cupcakes)

I recommend this who love their fragrances thick and sweet and appreciate a synthetic vibe.

On the very first moment Mukhallat feels a bit overwhelmed by intensely medicinal, bitter almond and strawberry syrup notes. Along with the deliciously warm vanilla/almond accords, Mukhallat softens with time where I reminisce strawberry scented erasers, scented barbies and cupcake plastic dolls from the 90’s that were left to melt at the direct sunlight after playing with it for hours. From a deliciously gourmand, warm almond accord, it turns to a defined and balmy quality in the drydown, but there’s nothing quiet, reserved or understated about this fragrance and I’m here for it. It stays rich and dense throughout. Perfect for days when I want to dress up with the cutest (but baddass) outfit, very barbie-like.. short dresses, perfect hair, full face of makeup and lots of sparkles.
It has a pretty good lasting power and an amazing sillage!

peasoup

was so anxious for this! and i absolutely love it! makes me want to be strawberry shortcake for halloween and spray this in my hair - with montale's projection it would probably turn heads ^_^ its a plastic strawberry dream.....completely inedible smelling, but thats what i like about it. definitely second the raw incense smell, the sticks smell so potently sweet before you light them and can barely detect it ^^; that is what this smells closest to, more than i could say it smells like scented doll hair, but then i dont have any scented dolls anymore to smell for reference....so it could be that too! i wish i got the bubblegum note.....still i love it as it is.

i get the mall handsoap smell definitely too LOL but i love that soap!! every time i go somewhere with that particular pink soap i cant stop inhaling it. i think its a blessing to have that smell bottled <3

Ilovefragrances56

@ixlllll 😂😂 too funny..we will never know

onthe6

I really don't get the low score and so many dislikes. It's inoffensive and pretty scent, that just doesn't deserve hate cause it smells artificial or cheap to some. For me it smells lovely, and nostalgic. Really beautiful

KylieBooFace

Montale can be hit or miss for me, as they can be loud, synthetic, and/or oud-y. Montale feels like it was created by a brilliant mad scientist. The bottles are so gorgeous and elegant.

As for the actual scent of Mukhallat, it is a WILD ride. It's maybe a like or a love for its uniqueness and unexpected element of nostalgia. I tried this in a sample vial long ago and thought it was too strong for me. But, I really wanted a strawberry incense type of scent and enjoyed the balsam drydown. Someone here or on another site wrote about how Mukhallat means "mixture" in Arabic: similar to how a visit to a bazaar would be full of wonderous scents. I have never been to a real middle eastern bazaar yet, but I can say Mukhallat is quite creative. It is somewhat reminiscent of my beloved Strawberry incense by Wild Berry. ❤

These are the stages of Mukhallat:

First Spritz: Huh?? Strawberry candy and grape cough syrup. But I like it? 🤔

Several Minutes In: Hmm. Pleasantly placticky like those scented plastic play doughnuts I had as a child of the 90s (if you know, you know). Not a bitter, shrill, chemically plastic scent, but almost powdery, soft and pleasant. 😌

15+ Minutes In: Reminiscent of (discontinued) Flex balsam shampoo on the best way. (Does anyone else miss how fresh and comforting Flex smelled?) Add in lingering strawberry and smooth vanilla clouds. 🍓

It lasted quite a while. By the next morning, it was almost gone, but in a way that seemed to blend well with my skin chemistry. Everyone who knows me knows I am usually a fan of a vanilla base in a fragrance.

I want to try Sweet Peony and Diamond Greedy next, as apparently they are more generic crowd pleasers. Vanilla Absolu and Sweet Vanilla are quite nice and simple, while Vanilla Cake is a bit too synthetic for me. I was not really into Pink Xstasy, Intense Tiare, or Sensual Instinct but others like them. Montales are not blind buy safe. Always always sample first!

KylieBooFace

@ixlllll 🤣🤣🤣 I think they mean compared to those tart, tiny wild strawberries? Someone correct me if I am mistaken

ixlllll

what the fuck does a 'big strawberry' smell like

sweet_teenagedream

Strawberry plastic smell, like a scented toy for children, maybe. Not necessary the worst fragrance I ever smelled, but not something I would ever want to smell like. It last really well, even after I tried to wash it off and projection is good too.

RobertaTheNurse

I truly dislike the opening notes. Definitely smells like a cheap car freshener or a scent they use in public bathrooms. But I patiently waited for the dry down, as I was looking for the plastic doll head smell that I’ve been yearning for. It’s definitely there. I don’t smell any strawberry though so I wouldn’t say it’s similar to a strawberry shortcake doll- this scent is more powdery to me than it is fruity and smells more like a Barbie or cabbage patch doll. I plan on layering this scent for sure with something floral to give it more dimension.

lmnsvgz

One of the most artificial perfumes I have smelled - comparable to Pink Sugar, but it's quite girly and likeable.

SelkieTrisha

It has definitley something plastic-ish note which could come from a syntetic compound or from the almond - peru balsam combo. It's so intersting becouse some rieviewers mention that it has a cheep syntetic strawberry smell. But the juice color is pink/red and it means the factory uses real strowberry concentrate becouse Montale dosen't work with colour additives.
So it looks like the brand uses natural material in this frag of the most part and blended atrifical nuances. It's funny!
Anyway I heard that in The Middle East there are shops with own perfune mixtures like mukhallat al musk, mukhallat al oud. I bet the name comes from here.

carmenandmonkey

I'm all for the strawberry and vanilla combo and Strawberry shortcake, Cherry merry muffin, Cupcake dolls ...I loved those so much. So I'm always seeking a fragrance that comes close and I heard this smells like doll head. Could this be it?
Sadly what I get from this is the pink liquid soap in mall bathrooms, and probably the plastic jug that in comes in. I am happy though for those for whom this brings back the nostalgia.

I was looking for a perfume that smelled just like "Melissa" Brand shoes. In case you're not familiar with this brand, Melissa shoes are all made of recycled plastic, and they are high quality amazing shoes, usually known as "jelly shoes".

On their website they state "To add to the Melissa experience, the decision was made to infuse all our shoes with a sweet, distinct bubblegum scent and it is one of our most talked about features. The smell will not last forever but it does remain for quite a few months. Some of our fans have told us that the scent has lasted for years on their shoes but that will definitely depend on how well you care for them."

The smell of these shoes, to me, is ADDICTIVE.
Like sweet, rubbery, bubblegum, with a new plastic scent. i was going crazy trying to find something that smelled similar to that and this, so far, has been the most similar scent to those shoes. I swear this perfume is like 80% similar to those shoes.

The thing to achieve this is to NOT overspray. 1 spray will get you the "Melissa experience" as similar as it can get for sure!

If you are a fan of this brand and their shoes, and you've been looking for a perfume that smelled the same, this is it for sure!

Aygyun

This one smells like a cheap car freshener inside the old cab with leather seats that have cracks on them. I can’t even believe they have a perfume like that.

Phoenixpink80

Yum! This smells like Strawberry laces or Hubba Bubba to me. I also get 'Strawberry Shortcake doll' too, but I like that. I'm definitely going to try it layered with Cloud as suggested below, aswell as some other perfumes. It's definitely a fun perfume!

TheSweetestHeart

By itself it does smell overwhelmingly like a strawberry car air freshener. I used it sparingly and layered it with Avon Sweet Honesty. Together the two are beautiful. Sweet honesty smells exactly like baby oil. It adds depth to the generic smell. This is a scent to layer with another.

ultimate.bliss

It’s ok. There is some unpleasant smell in it for the first few minutes, then it becomes strong strawberry-vanilla mix. I don’t know how to feel about it, I don’t like it, but also I don’t hate it. My mother told me I smelled like cookie while wearing this. However, it is really, really strong. I’ve got a headache every time while wearing this, the scent stayed even after shower, where I was scrubbing it off. I could imagine a pretty guy in his twenties with an unique style or a posh, elegant woman wearing silk shirts and gold accessories wearing this.

Jeresa545

I'd wanted this for ages but couldn't find testers anywhere for any Montale scents, so I finally found someone selling decants. So glad I didn't blind buy this one as it's definitely not what I expected, but this perfume kept me intrigued for the entire time I wore it. Upon the very first spray, it smells like a basic strawberry fragrance oil mixed with coppertone suntan oil or lotion, and I totally get the 'plastic doll heads' vibe from it. After about 10 minutes,it smells just like tutti frutti lollies and the strawberry scent is buried under the sweetness. Half an hour later, it smells just like original hubba bubba and I mean EXACTLY like the original flavoured gum, while mixed with the smells of sharp plastic and incense.
Imagine you're standing in a market in Thailand looking at their incense sticks and the random assortment of things they sell, while chewing on hubba bubba and holding the incense packets up to your nose. This part of the scent lasted for a solid 4-5 hours. It turned into a skinscent during the last hour or so of smelling it and suprisingly that was the nicest part of the entire journey! The almond really came through with a hint of woody vanilla.
Sillage is huge, I could smell it from an arm lengths away for a good few hours which is huge for me, as my skin eats perfume like crazy and scents only really last or are strong on my clothes.

I wouldn't buy this scent as it just wasn't amazing to me, but I will definitely try my sample again during the winter so I can revist the whole journey in cold weather :)

Hkw266x

To me this perfume smells just like Lush snow fairy. Good projection and long lasting. If you like snow fairy you will like this !

Youlerie

A synthetic sugar nuclear bomb with strawberry aroma, which is really pleasant when used sparingly! I love one spray on my scarf.

YuXinSun

Mukhallat doesn't work well on my skin. I think it's the almond that smells really synthetic on me in this, making it smell rubbery. Strawberry eraser with marzipan is how I would describe it

Indianjay

Wow I love this!!! Ugh this is by far the best sweet smelling perfume I’ve ever smelled. So smooth and creamy.

Linnsim

At first spray I liked it. It’s an artificial plastic strawberry that reminds me of candies and scented My little pony toys from my childhood. I was thinking about buying a full bottle, because this is a weird yet original scent.. fast forward.. 3 hours later.. I get sick and nauseous of it😓 It’s a nice scent for a short time for me, but after one hour it just turns obnoxious and sickening..

Drisha

Not a blind buy. Makes me nauseous.

mizur

What a weird but still likable fruity scent!!

Let’s begin with what most people say, and they are right, it smells like a doll head from the late eighties and early nineties, with a special resemblance to the Strawberry Shortcake doll which obviously added the strawberry accord.

I wonder why Montale would want his fragrance to smell like plastic? For me that is a very strange decision.

Also strange is that not a single previous reviewer mentioned the resemblance with La Capitale from Xerjoff, specially since both perfumes share the same olfactory profile down to the doll head smell.

I would really like to blame something other than the Strawberry for the plastic smell, but seeing that it’s the only shared note with La Capitale, aside from the Vanilla, which is also shared by another million perfumes, non of which smell like plastic, we have to conclude that both Xerjoff and Montale chose the same weird smelling fruity note, and that such is the culprit behind the plastic accord.

Let’s move on to the scent… yes it’s doll head and yes it’s candied strawberry, but it’s also creamy, vanillic, and slightly nutty.

It’s like drinking a strawberry milkshake that has been poured into an old rubber cup… or for some strange reason, in the head of an eighties doll…

Although marketed as unisex it might be better suited for young women. I don’t see men or even grown women wanting to smell like a strawberry toy. Perhaps layered with additional musk or even some oud might make the scent a bit more grown up.

Projection is moderate for the first hour and then it becomes intimate. Longevity is approximately 6 hours.

A very likable fruity juvenile and slightly weird perfume.

Kheila

Smells like a scented Strawberry shortcake doll from the 90's.

I'm talking, in your face, straight out of the box synthetic but clean fresh plastic strawberry! Fake fake fake and I LOVE IT.
If you like the hello kitty body sprays, and absolutely juvenile or trashy glam pussy cat fragrances this is for you! It's like that but done exceptionally of course because Pierre did it haha

I bought a 10ml travel decant from fragrancenet and enjoyed it while it lasted. I personally wouldn't buy a whole presentation but it was a lot of fun playing with it. As a 32 year old 1990 baby, it was very amusing and enjoyable having girly pamper days at home wearing this listening to 90's bangers 😸
And damn it's a sexy bottle ♥️

herculano

First spray, for the first five minutes:

Yes, tragically, this does indeed smell like a urinal cake, and I mean… exactly like one.

It’s a nice smell. Urinal cakes are intended to smell GOOD, obviously.

But I can’t feel any passion for smelling like a public bathroom air freshener at a gas station. That cheap pink industrial liquid hand soap smell is here. It’s exactly THAT smell. No more. No less.

Let’s see how this develops in the ensuing hours on my skin. I will report back.

Update:

The urinal cake effect gradually falls away (though, admittedly, never completely) and it becomes a creamy almondy, non-tart strawberry confection with powdered sugar.

I like it. It’s nice on a person, on skin, actually.
I would even say it’s striking, likely, when smelled on a person walking by you.

I am curious how Cheriosa 71 would be layered with this. Might bring out the gourmand quality in this one even more. (No. I was wrong. They don’t smell great layered)

In short, this is a perfectly acceptable perfume for all ages (after it dries down). I don’t love it, but it’s becoming nicer and nicer as I’ve been wearing it today.
But it’s not something I would buy.

Happylovejoy

At first this smells like a Strawberry Shortcake Doll and also that scent in a clean porta-potty. Do I love it? No. Do I hate it? No. It’s pleasant enough to keep but it has to develop first. Ultimately, I get a powdery pink bubblegum scent with a strawberry milk vibe. Nothing I would call tart, tangy or sharp. (I’ll blame the funky note on the peru balsam.) The almond note must be the one that smells like cherry or marzipan. No roasted nuts here. I get the best scent result when sprayed down the inside of my shirt onto my skin. The perfume is warmed on the skin and diffused through the fabric, which makes it more acceptable to the nose. When sprayed on my wrists, crook of the elbow or neck, it just isn’t as pretty. I can only speculate as to why that is, and maybe it’s because hand soap (wrists), moisturizer with SPF (neck)
and the inner elbows being folded affect it negatively. All in all, I’m glad I have a bottle of Mukhallat. It reminds me a bit of LUSH’s Rockstar soap.

arielover

I don't understand the "Barbie fresh out the box" association AT ALL....sometimes I feel people on here are having a poetic contest and it is misleading...this smells like a more girly version of Joop Homme to me, funny it hasn't been mentioned at all yet...Love by Kilian? Snow Fairy by Lush? Not even close...

Scentfrommanna

This was a grower. It’s an intriguing one, absolutely not a safe blind buy as it’s quite a polarising one I think, but well worth trying a sample of.

I wasn’t sure about this at first. I bought a 10ml because I had one of those odd frag-head moments where I suddenly craved a strawberry fragrance and didn’t have one, and this was recommended.

This is the oddest things I’ve ever written about a perfume (particularly one I love) but it reminds me of the smell you get from those big baskets of plastic footballs and beach balls in a toy store. And I love it for that, perhaps it’s the nostalgic effect. 😂. Also smells very much like the car cleaning aisle in a car shop. It must be the peru balsam, which I’m now intrigued by as a fragrance note.

It’s a creamy, beautiful, in ya face strawberry. Very artificial smelling, very sweet and lovers of those “dolls head” type plasticy fragrances will probably really enjoy it.

Great sillage and longevity so don’t overspray! I have had a lot of compliments on this one, strangely enough.

I can imagine one of the really gorgeous Love Island girls wearing this (that’s not an insult by the way, it just evokes that aesthetic).

MaxieF

Yes, finally someone below agreed with me. It smells EXACTLY like the inside of a HALLOWEEN MASK. It is so unique and I personally enjoy it. But I promise you it smells like a Halloween mask. Do yourself a favor, walk into a Halloween store and smell the masks and ask yourself do I want this as a perfume.

Frenchghost

smells like crushed sweet tarts&pink bubblegum, fresh&very sweet~UPDATE: wearing in December&it now smells like pink bubble gum exactly,im even happier now, because saves me time&$ because i was going to try moschino-bubblegum pink bear perfume bottle, for bubble gum note, and at least this bubble gum last whole 🕙 long time🦄💕

Confetti12

Initial smell...like a cheap car air freshener on a hot summer day. 30 min later...yep same impression. But it did bring to mind memories of the 80's.

rinrinlovesrinrin

bought a full bottle of this, hoping it would also have the 'plastic doll head' smell that so many people mention in the reviews....... and there is now a tester vial and a travel size available on fragrancenet. test this before buying, the notes are misleading. and let me know if you want to trade. 😌you guys trade me the fullest bodied atomic rose by initio parfums, or elixir pour femme roja dove.... and i'll give you this. preferably if you've spritzed it already a few times lol and do sign the bottle with sharpie 💗

oh, no reason, this to me smells super retro. it smells like.. you know those really pretty vintage girls with the fluffy babydoll lingerie from austin powers? this smells like that sort of vibe. retro. vinyl boots, shiny hair, and perfect makeup. it smells like how you would imagine the vinyl boots to smell. if that's not your look, you might not pull this one off because retro is the only way to describe this... and by that i mean, you'll have no reason otherwise to want to smell like this. a persona fragrance, for sure and that's its only intended uses and purposes. i gotta try it again some other time.

bajablast

i was told this perfume smelled very strong around 10 hours after i applied it.
another time, i saw a man audibly sniffing the air and looking around as i walked into a coffee shop.
what i'm trying to say is, this is...
BEAST MODE !!!! 👹👹👹👹

the longevity itself is impressive enough to make this a 10/10 perfume for me. Quality. Very oily so I'm careful about spraying on clothes.

I can't imagine a strawberry/vanilla perfume could be done any better. I know a fruity vanilla is by no means unique to any of us, but this one is. I wouldn't change anything about it, except maybe the overwhelming first 10 minutes this perfume is infamous for. It does develop noticeably throughout the wear. 🍓

Mariange4

I was SO excited to try this based on the notes. When I did my initial spritz, I immediately wondered, has the creator of this fragrance ever smelled an actual strawberry??
I love sweet and gourmands, but this is something else! Imagine mixing Pepto Bismol, a urinal cake/bathroom air freshener, gasoline and a tiny bit of DollarTree doll head (Not even the nice doll heads) & then…you’ll have a pretty realistic idea of this concoction’s scent.

Nemorivaga

Its an ok scent, not unpleasant, but definitely not something I’d want to wear. To me it feels like a very sweet and immature scent, something I imagine a 10 year old going crazy for. Sweet like candy bubblegum.

Patrice 123

Yuck. All I get is pepto bismal, then twizzlers.

Drakenatalie

My very first impression was that the scent had a “scary feeling” about it. I don’t know why, but it somehow reminded me of some kind of Halloween masks (fake and plastic). But after some time it got better on my skin, more of a good type of a scent that I felt that I could wear.
When I then tried it for the third time I didn’t get this weird feeling anymore and I really enjoyed it from the very start. Now I really smell the strawberry and it’s wonderful. Very sweet strawberry but enjoyable. Nothing plastic comes through for me at all anymore, how weird. Considering buying a full bottle!

Catherina Stein

I was surprised that I can't smell here strawberry. First 5 minutes I smell smth plastic but after that when the perfume lives enough time on my skin I smell very tasty almond with vanilla. On my skin it smells like turkish baklava. Oriental sweets. And I love this smell. Strawberry here appears in very small concentration on my skin... more like strawberry jam. But I hardly smell it.
I tried it when it was +20 outside. Would be interested to try in warmer weather, may be there is a chance to smell strawberry

saintkoshka

to me, unlike the other reviews here, although it smells like artificial strawberries, it doesn't smell like plastic to me. it does however smell like the strawberry body yogurt from the body shop, which i love dearly. this smells like a strawberry parfait that seems too "strawberry-like" to be real strawberries. i love this, i can use this for literally any day, hot or cold. for a niche fragrance, i also feel like this would be easy to get along with for someone who isn't too into perfumes, so yeah, this could possibly be a crowd pleaser.

Dbun

This is one of the most unique fragrances I’ve ever smelled. It’s incredibly fake-smelling, confusing, and beautiful at the same time, and evolves throughout the wear.

At first spray, my nose picked up a strong gasoline-like scent, but seconds later my brain registers it as plastic, like the smell of a Barbie as others have mentioned. In the beginning I don’t smell any of the strawberry, vanilla, or almond that the notes indicate, so initially I did not like this.

Around 30 min later I start to smell bubblegum mixed with plastic - super fake, kinda like an old school lipgloss scent, but I kinda like it. About an hour and I’m really enjoy it! I’m starting to smell all the notes, not all at once but a sniff here - oooh there’s that vanilla! A sniff there - Yumm that almond… another sniff - strawberry.

After 2 hours, it starts to get really sweet and creamy on my skin, a little bit nutty, and honestly kind of sexy. This is definitely a playful scent, but not childish. I can see a young or older adult who likes to go out and have fun wearing this, and imagine their personality is super playful, confident, and bold.

I swear at some points it smells like the inside of a fancy hotel in Vegas, like Caesar’s or the Wynn? That’s who I imagine would wear this, the human version of those hotels - you know how to look good, people want to hang out with you, you’re fun to be around, and you can be trouble! Lol.

My only con is that the first few min of the wear is headache-inducing, and takes about 30 min for me to start enjoying. But honestly, it’s so unique and beautiful that it’s sort of exciting to go through the “story” of the wear - such a unique fragrance.

Nay0711_

To me it’s like a strawberry Barbie doll smell, very playful and I would say more for a young crowd, my husband said I smell like those pen that you have in high school and each have a different smell he said specific the green one (LOL) I don’t remember how that smell so I can not comment on that but it was funny! I like it I have a decant but don’t think I’ll get a full bottle

Loevens

I didn't think I would enjoy artificial strawberry, as I never have before. But this is artificial strawberry done just right. It absolutely takes me back to my childhood, new barbies and scented my little pony toys. It's not too sweet or cloying and it has an airy quality about it. It really really lasts (have been wearing it for 6+ hours at this point and it is still going strong). Somehow it manages to be light and airy and still stick around. I am impressed.

I tried mixing it with Cloud and it does give me Burberry Her vibes, except it's way better that Burberry her (IMO) There was something about Burberry Her that did not sit well with my skin. But mixing Mukhallat and Cloud is awesome!

MamaCait

I was relieved to find that I'm not really getting the plastic/gasoline vibe I'm seeing from others. On me this is a very powdery and sweet strawberry/whipped cream that is somewhat reminiscent of a car air freshener, or those scratch and sniff stickers we had as kids. It's strange, sweet, and addicting. I can see why it's not for everyone, but I absolutely love it.

Krem4e363

Много тежък и сладък парфюм 🙄

zivanovicdragana93

I wanted different, funny perfume and this one looked like the one from the reviews and ingredients. Unfortunately I didn’t like it, this perfume caused me nausea :/ but my sister loved it.. regarding the scent i am getting sweet cough medicine vibe with high plastic smell, i got attracted due to strawberry bubblegum comments but i am not getting strawberry vibe only sugary bubblegum.. I guess what irritated me is intense plastic smell.. I would advice you tu try it first it s not for blind buying..

ankama

I love this sweet strawberry bubblegum, it's addictive 🥰

amelkoooo

Im not loving this on myself, but i have been getting so many compliments while wearing it.

Gawdlovesugly

So I can’t get over this fragrance. I’m in love. BUT, the first hour I absolutely hated it. It felt so screechy, in your face, sour artificial strawberry…….in the dry down though, after about an hour…this smells so unbelievably good!!!! I’m getting compliments left and right. It gets creamier and softer. Also kinda reminds me of a strawberry incense stick. I was bamboozled at first…I absolutely love this. Getting past the opening is so worth it. I will repurchase when I run out.

iro222

i now see what people mean when they are talking of plastic doll heads 😅 It reminds me of my childhood but it is too sweet!

soapaddict

Kinda cheap smelling strawberries with whipped cream.

Fania2985

Smells like a 90s strawberry scented car air freshener that you'd hang on your rear view mirror 🤔

smccmurphy

Smells like a urinal cake. I once consulted at a recycling plant in 90 degree weather that was recycling old porta potties…that experience immediately came to mind when I sprayed this on. Absolutely disgusting I could not wash this off or run away from someone else wearing this fast enough.

CheyWolf

I definitely get the plastic “doll head” smell for about an hour but once this dries down it becomes so good! It’s a creamy, sweet/fruity, “fluffy”/powdery, vanilla. The strawberry note in here is PERFECTION! If its synthetic it’s a really good synthetic strawberry. The almond and peru balsam give this fragrance such a warmth that permeates off my skin. I blind bought this and thought I had wasted my money because the opening smell lasted for so long but once I forgot about this fragrance and was going about my day, I kept smelling something so delicious. Finally I got what I came for lol. Not safe blind buy worthy but if you are a gourmand lover please give this a try and don’t let the opening fool you!

Candylover666

I blind bought this perfume based on reviews and I couldn’t be happier.
It’s a lovely scent. Smells like artificial strawberry, vanilla and incense with a hint of pink bubblegum to me. It does smell very plasticy as other people say, my boyfriend said it smells like old toys but I love it.
I’ve already gotten a lot of compliments on it and I love wearing it.

Martha236

Selling my 100ml bottle, located in Greece

Marialle

This perfume smells like plastic and strawberries with a hint of vanilla. If you're from Finland and remember these strawberry chapsticks from a brand called Mirame, this perfume smells like them. Very fake and cheap smelling. Lasts forever on the skin. I like it, but it's definitely not a safe blind buy and not an every day perfume, at least for me.

Diamiadan

Smells like melted Barbie plastic with fake strawberry mixed with gasoline. I like it though.

2whit2quit

This totally reminds me of 90s Toys-R-Us. Specifically, the towering ball-filled wire racks at the end of the aisle. Very nostalgic.

wondervalley666

I blind bought a mini travel spray based on notes without reading any reviews and...

yup. Fake strawberry plastic dolls. Except when I was a kid in the 80s/90s, we had these colorful teddy bears that smelled like gumdrops and candy. This smells like the pink one of those bears. Plasticky in the opening. Dries down to a more rich syrupy strawberry. Unique scent for sure. I don't hate it. I don't love it. I need to wear it more, I do like it. Not sure if I need a full bottle. But this is a fun addition for any collector who likes niche retro inspired scents. Not retro perfumes--retro scents, as in, smells from childhood. No, it does not smell like a urinal cake, at least not on my skin... Yes, it does smell like some cleaning products, but not a specific one I can name. More like the cheap fruity hand soap you find sometimes in those dispensers in public bathrooms. But this is cleaner, nicer, and you can just tell it's more expensive and not as harsh and chemical-like as the solvents/soaps. I feel like if you layered this with more vanilla and incense, it would smell a lot like smoke shop strawberry incense as well. Or one of those sprays people use as car air freshener. I understand why some reviewers who blind bought a full bottle might be horrified by this purchase, but really, it isn't bad. It's kind of good! It's really interesting. It's fun. It's much more enjoyable if your purchase didn't break the bank. I recommend picking up a mini/sample, just for fun. Use it in your car after a wash if it isn't what you want for your skin. Use it to cover up pot smoke. Spray it on a blanket or pillow or your childhood doll to bring back the smell of the 80s. It's a much more common scent than you probably realize, you'll recognize it when you smell it.

Pic

First spray - strawberry bathroom cleaning product or freshener. It turns into a pleasant vanilla-almond-plastick strawberry. Not a favorite, but kind of interesting. The definition of "artificial" for me. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, only that if the word "artificial" had a smell, this would be it for sure 😅

Martha236

Looking to sell my 100ml bottle or exchange it with chocolate greedy

yana.levus

IMHO whoever says it’s similar to LDBS must be nose-blind. The only thing they share in common is a great longevity and a huge sillage. That’s that. So if you’re looking for LDBS dupe, it’s not the one.

I find Mukhallat too cloying and artificial, pretty much viscous. Although I’m a fan of plastic peach in Gucci Rush, the plastic strawberry in here is just horrendous. I have tested it out a good amount of times, and it’s definitely a pass to me. Odd and bizarre perfume, all I can say. And I don’t mean it in a good way. I wanted to appreciate the weirdness in it, but it kind of feels like a try-hard out of place weirdness.

If you are looking for a perfume that is strange smelling, unique in an overdone way, Mukhallat is a way to go.

Lady Nightshadow

Mukhallat is a strawberry syrup, extremely powerful and sweet, that comes in a red juice.

Do you remind those hard, round chewing gums that you could get with a coin to play pinball, in the attempt to win a round marble?
The red chewing gum came back decades later, and it became a riot.
This is the scent of that artificial flavour, if this makes sense, turn up the volume x100.

Mukhallat is a pleasant childhood picture, if you can get past the initial shock, but it's also very strong and extremely difficult to wear.
On my skin, the development retains the powerful strawberry syrup, but there is some bitter almond shining through and a little balsamic note giving deepness.
The subtle oriental vibe prevents it from being childish, but nonetheless this is really niche.

If you have a big personality and you like it enough, go for it, but this is absolutely not a safe blind buy. You have to own it, otherwise it's this fragrance that carries you.
It's almost a funny scent, not workplace friendly at all, unless you want attention, not sure if in a positive way.

I don't have the gut to show up in this, and for my free time I already have my cookie gourmands, so I like Mukhallat as a paper scent for my handwritten cards and my diary, but I can't get myself to splurge on a full size just to perfume my paperwork.
Just thinking about it, I owned a Diddles set of perfumed writing paper that had a similar scent, so maybe it's possible to find something similar in children fragrances.

SweetAminah

It’s a beautifully different gourmand. Once you get past the $.05 opening, the value increases with time. It’s coquettishly sexy yet girlish and unlike anything else. I’m going for a full bottle.

Kotikina

I just cannot believe how similar it is to Lush Snow Fairy at first spray (almost identical). However, this one is not linear as Lush, it dries down to lovely creamy, almost lactonic almonds with a hint of vanilla. I believe it can be worn during all seasons if you like the fragrance. It also reminds me of strawberry incense sticks! I find it very sexy. Strong projection, great longevity, performs very well overall!

MistyBellevue

I get a bit worried at first spray it smells like the cleaning product isle in the middle eastern store. Once it settles the image in my mind is a red shiny hard candy or kids strawberry toothpaste, not a natural strawberry and these things sound strange but it is a very pleasant scent. I haven’t worn it out yet but I’m enjoying it on me it seems to last and project well.

mrshnchnkm

It smells like a mixture of strawberry lollipops and plastic, I associate it with the smell of gasoline, because the smell is very sharp and acetone-like, but at the same time fruity and attractive.

It's hard to say whether I like it or not, but I'm glad I bought only 20 ml, because at first I wanted to buy 100 ml and I would definitely regret it.

Shalize

Very nice girly scent . This does smell like a strawberry shortcake doll but I’m like a luxurious way.
The smell is very adorable especially the dry down

DESJava

LOVE at first sniff. It is a underrated frgrance. Unique, sweet, bubblegumy, balsamic, fruity.

The previous review is spot on. I can see the resemblance to Easter chocolate and mini eggs....the scent just gives off yellow vibes; soft and round and so sweet, indulgent and precious! It's truly so unique and I love it! I really imagine this to be such a summery, spring deliciously misted fragrance that you can just spritz and feel joyful! ♡ the Barbie doll head is a good way to describe the scent. If you don't mind a little bit of expensive, synthetic feeling yet dreamy and scrumptious perfumery creation, then I say go for this little wonderous star. Its gorgeous!☆ 🐣🛍

tige60

This being my favourite Easter fragrance, I'm wearing it today (Easter Sunday)...decided to re-post my review for this fragrance from way back in April 2014:
"This reminds me of my childhood Easter candy...something about it is totally "EASTER!"...this is a good thing, because Easter candy was always one of the highlights of my childhood years...I think it mostly reminds me of those pastel-ish coloured bunny basket eggs with the sugary white fluffy fillings...don't see 'em around very often these days...must admit, that I do like this uber-sweet Montale juice...but only for very select occasions such as...Easter!

x.rina.x

Yes, like many of you wrote in the comments before me, it's a balsamic sultry/stuffy, heavy plastic pink strawberry bubble gum ( wich has some cottoncandy and lollipop side too) scent with latex & rubbery vibe. It's very bold and loud. A love or hate fragrance. To be honest, at the first and second try i hated it. But for the 3rd use, something changed i got the vibe. In special nasty, edgy way but it's hot!
For me it's feels like:
-70-80's american neon lights at motels and strip clubs, and the classic milkshake bars
- bit 'lolita vibe' - not the nabokov more like lana del rey.
-hot summer in america, pink cadillacs, chevrolets, roadhaouses & highways, roadtrip, hitchhiking, trucks & drivers
-a teenager girl/ young women, who is girly & sassy, who wears a redish-pink extra mini skirt with a short crop top & faux lether jacket. Always chewing bubblegum, or sucking lollipops.
- the naked sweaty women thights sticked to the car's rubber seat at te car,
- melted strawberry liqoury-syrupy lipgloss by the heat,

So my feeling totally went from hate to a nasty naugthy delight.

Discalmier: But tottaly not a safe blind buy!

Oh, this one is incredibly similar to Makkah by Al Haramain. To my nose it's all about sweet, juicy (and synthetic) strawberry. Or strawberry bubblegum. I also get the almonds and vanilla in the dry down, but the overall effect is a Barbie-like strawberry.
I find it so lovely. I already have Makkah but I wouldn't mind getting a full bottle of Mukhallat either. :)

Blushingkitten

When I was 7, I received as a gift a Barbie pool party play set complete with pool, beach ball, pink picnic table and chairs and other assorted accessories to allow Barbie and her friends to have a magical day by the pool. This fragrance smells exactly like that Barbie set so to me this fragrance is absolutely divine and makes me smile endlessly.
It is very unique though and certainly not a safe blind but. It’s a sweet pink plasticky strawberry overload and some people just won’t like this. The closest fragrance to this might be Stella McCartney Pop.

PPLY

I loved this when I first sprayed it, then I kind of went off it. Now i love it again! I think it definitely has a smell of fake plastic strawberries, but I also get lots of incense and musk smells from this too.
Definitely wouldn’t buy it without trying it first as I can imagine a lot of people may not like it. But I just love it!! There’s just nothing like this.

VTori

Please note that if you are an American who has ever been in any men's bathroom, say, at a sporting event, you will recognize this perfume's initial wet scent as urinal cake. My roommate actually stopped me walking through the kitchen and told me I smelled like a urinal cake. So be aware of that.

Upon drydown, the scent becomes a spicy, slightly resinous artificial strawberry scent. I feel like a plastic doll, and though I like it, it would take a certain type of person to wear this as a signature scent.

As MaxieF notes, Mila does describe this perfume as a bit of a WTF scent; if you can commit to the attitude to wear a perfume like this one, you won't be disappointed by it. As far as "journeys" can take you with perfumes, Mukhallat is easily the most niche and hard to relate to perfume I have ever experienced. It is an alien strawberry, both sweet and unsweet, fresh and heavy, clean and drrty. This is about as far from pink as you could make a strawberry. This certainly is one of the most polarizing scents in my collection: not safe for work, not safe for blind buy, headache inducing in some, but still so attractive in a manufactured, highly artificial way.

Edit: I am in love. I will be buying three bottles this afternoon.

HMY

Guys, I so wanted to like this perfume because of the note strawberries, vanilla, almond.. my fav notes and Montale is my fav brand, what can go wrong? Well, everything. this is very strong arabic perfume. Imagine Morocco or another middle east country perfumes/colognes too strong perfumes, very sweet, almost gives you headache and this one is supersweet I feel like bubble gum sweet with hints of tobbaco, very dark and exotic smell. If you are fan of strong arabic, sweet perfume then yes, go for it but not my cup of tea.

Manya3

A burst of strawberry on first spray, within half an hour it settles into a vanilla + incense-like powdery scent. I get that it triggers different memories for people, but personally it doesn't remind me of anything in particular, maybe bubblegum in the first notes. But this is not a fruity frag for me even though it is sweet.
I also don't find anything particularly artificial about it - I mean, people go crazy about the vanilla+rubber notes in Shalimar because it's Guerlain, but Montale is somehow "artificial"?..Please.

A truly *oriental* oriental gourmand.
If you like very sweet, powdery balsamic and almost smokey fragrances, this is a must-try!

santeripe

This smells like a dark, hot and humid garage, with pools of motor oil on the ground and an artificial strawberry air freshener hanging in the corner. Quite heavy in a suffocating way. But strangely comforting and cocooning at the same time. I still don't think this smells bad necessarily, just very bizarre. This could could probably grow from WTF to super-love for a lot of people!

Edit: I guess the garage thing here is like the dentist thing with BR540? Because it's very clear for me, and I got nothing but hot humid garage at night without air conditioning + strawberry on first spray. Like how some people get iodine and dentist with BR540 ¯_(ツ)_/¯

almondluver1

This one smells strange, but in a good way 🤭 — a really unique take on a strawberry fragrance. I totally understand what everyone means by plastic dolls head now because it really does smell like a plastic strawberry dolls head, but with a bit of a Middle Eastern twist (I think it’s coming from the peru balsam and musk AKA makes it lean a bit oriental yet also have a car air freshener vibe).

Not a safe blind buy at all. For once, I decided to get a travel spray of this instead of blind buying a full bottle and thankfully I love it enough to get a full bottle but it def took some time to get used to this scent 😅. If you want a crowd pleasing strawberry fragrance, I’d go for Burberry Her, Kate Spade New York, Vince Camuto Ciao, and SJP NYC

MaxieF

Okay wow.
So in the opening I can see why people think it smells like the inside of a car because it's a bit leathery rubbery like the inside of an auto zone. But that note disappeared quickly.

Then in the dry down it smells exactly like the inside of a Halloween mask. It's dusty with a hint of vanilla. The longer it sits the better it gets. This is powdery and strange. It does smell artificial but it smells good because it reminds me of childhood. I can see why people either love it or hate it. It smells vintage. Which I really like about it. It literally smells exactly like the inside of a scream mask. Smooth, dusty, plasticy vanilla. I wouldn't describe this as sweet. Maybe sweet like how a baby wipe smells sweet. And I don't detect any fruit. Literally none.

Overall, I'll sit with it but I kind of like it because it's very unique. Mila le blanc described this as something you might think "wtf is that.." when someone walks by wearing it. I completely agree. It's just really weird and kind of smells sexy like how some people like the scent of latex gloves. This is what I'd imagine a dominatrix would smell like. My boyfriends exact reaction was "wtf is that" and he didn't love it or hate it. If you spray this and find yourself repulsed, come back to it after 20 minutes. It changes a lot.

I see someone wearing either red or black with a really clean make up look and maybe slicked back hair or stick straight.

Selkiee

First of all this is NOT a safe blind buy. It's a love or hate fragrance.
Veeery synthetic, smells like sweet plastic berries. You can't smell the strawberry in it, just something fruity.
But it really is very strong. It's so hard to describe. Very fake and very strong. The peru balsam is very prominent here. The smell fills the room, it's really enough with just one spray and it stays on forever. Doesn't smell soapy to me at all. The dry down is the best part.
So unique.

Personally I love it. No one can deny it's a very unique fragrance. There's nothing similar to it. It's really so soooo unique and really ''weird'', like there's something about it that draws you in. My mom said she hated it at first, but now I catch her wearing it very often.

Siv7Stars

Sample from Notino. It does sort of remind me of Strawberry Shortcake dolls a bit but not nearly enough & it is far too plasticky for me. I don't think it's terrible but it's an acquired taste. I've never had a liking for plastic even though I did like the doll's smell. It doesn't recall them enough for me & the plastic overshadows the strawberry way too much. Same plastic note as in Aquolina Pink Sugar. If this is 'unisex' then so are Pink Sugar & Ariana Grande's Sweet Like Candy. It's unisex like Dolce Pour Femme or LVEB. It's unisex insofar as yes the guys can absolutely smell like dessert if they want to. But this thing is the perfect scent for those peculiar giant breasted women in tiny dresses you see going into the doctor's office on Botched who want to be made to look even more mental.

ibralemmi

Now that I've worn it I can say these things:
1. The smell of this fragrance can be described with the word "heavy". (I don't necessarily mean lasting power, just the scent)
2. it is very unisex.
3. Give. it. time. (hated it in the beginning, I was like hell nawh, but then I changed my mind)
4. It's - strawberry + this peru thingy + harsh heavy thick plastic, not your barbie plastic.
+ It is a lil headache inducing for me, that's why I can't continue wearing it, but it's winter here so I want to retry it in summer.

loveheart

Not a safe blind buy.

I was so excited about buying this fragrance and ordered a full bottle at a fairly good discount. While it was on its way to me I stumbled upon a sample of this fragrance in a rolling box. SO GLAD I DID! I was able to return it unopened. Shew!

I was looking forward to "synthetic strawberry" & "plasticky," "doll head" smell, but this was all cheap pink airport hand soap to me and I found it rather horrid and disappointing, even headache inducing.

I would not consider it a safe blind buy, period. Save yourself and get a sample/decant prior to full bottle purchase.

{Sorry Konga5000, I posted a response to you on your forum post asking about this one but unfortunately I was too late to warn you away. Hopefully it can help save someone from a future blind buy. And I believe your description of "urinal cake" is even more fitting!}

Konga5000

I got my first Montale "burn" with Patchouli Leaves (AKA T.J. Maxx patchouli room spray) . I felt no more need to venture into this brand. However , after asking "the forum" if this smelled "too bathroom cleaner" or not, they assured me it did not. (I was OK with a strawberry doll head). I opened this up in the post office an hour ago and first blast smells like strawberry incense in the package (not ignited and burning) . The dry-down (which is very STRONG) does start to smell like strawberry soap in a nurses office / or a urinal cake. It will fill a room! So the joke is on me. Montale : never again. This does NOT smell like bubble gum if that's what anyone is after. Ironic Ending: Just last night I purchased a body spray from Target (their brand?) called Beloved... Strawberry & Brown Sugar and it smells 20 times better than this Montale (even though it's basic body spray strength : weak) .

ScentedPlaza

This is avant-garde & not meant to be taken too seriously, the same as life itself! We are here to explore our senses, to play, to always stay curious.. This is a cool "toy" & deserves a place in a diverse perfume wardrobe. P.s.This is not meant to be oversprayed - 1 tiny drop is enough, trust me. A cool one for layering with solifleur & "too serious" scents.

Madyana

I like this scent, but every time I use this, I wonder why any adult person would want to smell like a big rubber strawberry?

MS4

This must be one of the WORST fragrances of all time. Reminds me of the bubblegum I used to chew in elementary school. I don't think anyone can take you seriously when wearing this perfume. Can't see how anyone would like this, but every person is different.

Brysxb

This is the craziest Strawberry sugary bubblegum scent I have ever smelled and NOT in a good way. I had to return it!

Edit: The dry down is kinda nice. It made me almost second guess returning it. I wish It was well balanced as a fragrance.
The longevity is a good 4 hrs.
The scillage is huge for like 3 good hrs.

missloveschocolate

The first impression Is a memory. My dad bought me a huge cotton candy. It’s so sweet and smells like wild strawberries. We are walking through a park while I’m eating my cotton candy, which I hate. Too much sugar. I wonder who ever likes it. They sell candy everywhere. The smell is overwhelming. I ask my dad to leave. We get into his brand new car. It smells a lot like plastic. Plastic and wild strawberry jam.
Nothing less, nothing more.

SpaceTrex

Bubblegum! Literally smells like pink bubblegum, and very artificial strawberries. I agree it reminds of plastic, car refresheners, and all that. Weirdly addictive!

GreatGreyOwl

Strawberry lip gloss/balm mixed with some woodiness. One of the strongest perfumes I have encountered.

juliannmay

At first scent, it def smells like room or car freshener. Or like a sweet car wax! Not bad but it’s not for me. I sprayed this ONCE on my hand in the car with the windows down. A guy pulled in next to me and said it smelled great! So if youre looking for a compliment getter this would be great.

Bennyben1

I knew I smelled this before! It's a strong version of BBW Strawberry Poundcake. At first I hated it for all the reasons stated below but thirty minutes had passed and I can’t stop waving my wrists to catch whiffs of delectable something ( I refuse to say strawberry because real strawberries smell nothing like that). I say delectable whiffs of nostalgia. Innocence. A child playing with an artificial smelling toy. I love it. I’m keeping my sample.

kristoferiscariot

Addictive and strange. Bought two bottles

annamal1432

First time I sprayed it I hated it and had to wash it off immediately. But even days later, I found myself thinking about it and wanting it on my skin again. The strawberry is very synthetic and does remind me of bathroom soap as one commenter described, but it’s so addictive and leaves you craving more. I can’t wait to get a full bottle.

lanya

Strawberry and peru balsam HEAVY. Definitely smells like strawberry shortcake happy meal toy. I can't imagine anyone wearing it other than a girl under 12 who shops at Justice.

a_va

At the first spray, the scent was very weird to me.
Got used to it after a few days. Compliment getter for sure!!
Great sillage and longevity.
People says it smells like bubblegum.

floszra

I though I'd hate this, so it's my most surprising LOVE for a perfume ever. I don't feel the bubblegum vibe, I only feel really sweet strawberry with vanilla and later it becomes balsamic. Playful, sexy oriental smell, the type which you can almost taste by smelling it.

stayinalive

Tested this in a store. To my nose this (or at least the opening) smells EXACTLY like incense sticks.
i guess i could reproduce this by dissolving incense sticks in alcohol lol.

Andrina72

Smells exactly like a Strawberry Shortcake doll circa 1980. Plasticky strawberry sweetness. It’s eternal and strong - so you’d better really like Strawberry Shortcake.

The smell is nostalgic for me … but not something I actually want to smell like.

Bubbles1964

Pierre Montale has quite the synthetic sweet tooth.

Mukhallat has the dubious distinction of being the most vile scent I’ve ever smelled. This is a scent not made for human consumption, and a rare hate vote from me.

Trendkill97

Smells like crispy strawberry cream with some generic balmyness not overly sweet at all. Underwhelming performance, not what's expected from a Montale fragrance. Very linear, uncomplicated, cooler weather scent. Not very unique and also not one of the better Montales. 5/10

Whiskeydreamer

This smells exactly like a freshly cleaned McDonald's bathroom. The thing is, I don't even mean that in a negative way. I think it's the combination of the balsam (cleaning products) and that artificial strawberry note (hand soap) that gets my nose to register it this way.

Other reviewers say it reminds them of their childhood because of multiple different associations, and for me it has the same effect...but because of McDonalds.

So, I kinda like it? I wouldn't wear it, but I enjoy smelling it. It's comforting in a weird way, like if you bottled the smell of an apartment hallway.

brandybasisty

This is a fun, uncomplicated fragrance that I'd only wear to revisit comforting scents from my childhood. The opening is a wallop of strawberry incense that becomes sweeter and creamier over time. At the 8 hour mark, Mukhallat smells like strawberry milk powder on my skin.

redskyatnight

Hear me out...Hypnotic Poison Light with massive performance. I get mostly sweet, powdery almond and coconut with a touch of incense. It is only strawberryish insofar as the sweetness and a slight tang. Yes, very much like 80s plastic dolls but also a very sexy, cuddly scent. Spray lightly and it is an everyday wearable scent.

Sara74

This is a peculiar fragrance. It smells a lot like these strawberry scented dolls they use to sell in the 80's, very retro indeed. Yes, it is very sweet and it has that plastic feel to it, but in a intriguing way. Its sweet, it projects like crazy and it lasts for a very long time. When I put this one, It really brings me back to my childhood, but also it has an cool, gourmand vibe that also would be a perfect fit in a rock concert, if you want to stand out (because you sure will). I do not find this childish- even though it has this retro/childhood vibe to it.

Marina H

It smells like a cheap strawberry soap to me. 😑

Missetherealbeauty

Mukhallat is indeed a very weird creation. At first spray I sprayed in in the air, and I got so nostalgic because I recognized the smell from my childhood! I just don't know what it is? Smells like a grape candy from my childhood (I think???) mixed with dolls and a bubblegum smell. I quite like the scent! On the skin it starts off very offensive though. Smells like the grape candy/bubblegum, barbie dolls mixed with hairspray. Once it settles the hairspray smell goes away but it's a very unpleasant scent at first. It has a similar vibe to Burberry Rhythm, it's just less vanilla sweet and more candy sweet with the barbie doll smell and of course the grape bubblegum. I would never wear this as a perfume but I actually really love it as a room scent, and I'm quite addicted to smelling it. Haha. What a scent! Synthetic sugary grape juice, bubblegum and barbies! Exactly what Mukhallat smells like.

marysunroyse

WARNING : This is not a blind buy!!
As with any Montale, a very strong perfume.
By far not my cup of tea, but I can see a lot of people liking it.
I enjoyed the opening much more than the dry down.
•The opening was full of a very fake strawberry and musk, not unpleasant, sweet and powerful. Reminded me a bit of a sweet cough medicine.
•The dry down reminded me unfortunately of a sweet fruity car freshener, or something of sorts ( probably the balsamic note mixed with everything else) . And because the smell is so strong I had to rub it off. Didn’t get the almond at all.
Now that being said… I think there is a type of women who would enjoy this smell. It is a very unique scent.
If you ever decide to get Montale samples , I think it is a fun one to try!
Sillage and longevity is amazing, probably more than some other Montales.
So yeah, not a blind buy in any way, but interesting enough to try.

Rob409

On paper and on skin, right at the opening and into the mid, there is a gut wrenching note I am picking up. It's subtle, but there enough to not get it out of my mind. Yall remember those stink bombs we used to get as a kid back in the day? At a flea market or prank store. They were in a small glass bottle in I believe a yellow box. I can't get passed thinking of that. It never really goes away but on the drydown I get incense sticks, like maybe strawberry scented. I can't find a hint of the Peru balsam or almond. Hard pass for me.

Rice-Kitten

This literally smells like Dragon's Blood incense to me. Very, very sweet and incense like! I can also smell a strawberry latex tone coming through which I'm hoping will settle down eventually. It's certainly an unusual scent! I can't quite say whether I love it or not yet.

MrAbbas

This is such an odd yet likable scent. It smells very artificial strawberries syrup and fake but it is easy on the nose somehow. To me it smells like "Panadol/Profinal kids strawberry flavored fever syrup". It is not an elegant scent, it is very casual and somehow a bit "slutty" in its essence. I disagree with Barbie like smell, it is not an innocent scent, it is more like a slutty dominatrix in latex. I will not get a full bottle because I like scents that are refined in their smell. Great performer like most Montales. Try it for yourself and see if it works for you.

cwavah

too fruity and sweet with that strawberry .... not for me. .....

MissIvy

Another Quarantine Blind Buy Win. Anyone that grew up in the 80's and loved their dollies, will recognize this fragrance as the exact smell of the top of our beloved Strawberry Shortcake doll's head. While other fragrances also contain the distinct strawberry plastic-dollhead-type note, none capture Strawberry Shortcake's head quite like Mukhallat. Hanae Mori (Blue Butterfly) comes to mind, but that one never quite hit the mark. And actually, something about the mixture of notes in HM leaves me feeling rather sick to my stomach. Pierre Montales Mukhallat, on the other hand, nailed it. The scent is pure nostalgic bliss. I love how unique it is and wearing it makes me feel cool. This could be a signature scent, and in my opinion, could be worn any season, day or night. That being said, keep in mind that my best friend thinks MM smells like "a dusty old ladies rancid talc power." LOL! So while it worked for me, it maybe is not the safest blind buy out there. Oh and she is a beast too. She lasts for 8+ hours on the skin, and basiclly doesn't come off of fabric until washed. Perfect 10/10 imo ❤

dilagrms

I can’t really explain it… but this perfume gives me artificial strawberry/bubblegum with plastic vibes and a slight bit of mothballs in the background…. if that makes sense lol

AnnaElli

Creamy artificial kind of strawberry with a hint of almondy bitterness in the background. It reminds me of a bubblegum I used to have as a child, it was strawberry flavoured packed in a plastic tube, that looked like a toothpaste. It was quite hard to get, so we had it as a special treat. Lovely childhood memory.
After about 2-3 hours the artificial strawberry kind of dissipates and melts into a creamier, lighter and more delicate scent, I'd say it smells more like those strawberries from the beginning were mixed and blended into a sweet vanilla whipped cream.
The longevity is quite impressive.
I get the comparison to Kilian's Love (especially the first hour or two), in a way, they have similar intriguing sweet, alluring vibe, but they do not smell nothing alike.

MagdalenaM

I actually love this, but it's too weird for me to buy a full bottle. It smells like a plastic toy/strawberry/lip balm. It's a bit shocking somebody made it into a scent, but actually why not? If there was a Barbie set that came with a perfume this could be it. I think if somebody was into fake smelling stuff and smelling very original they would wear this with pleasure, but you have to be somewhat eccentric for this one. Performs very well!

fairymeist

I really wanted to like this but as some reviewers said, it smells like air freshener, car freshener or like a public restroom. 😭😭

KRye7

This smells like my local dollar store. I’m also getting public restroom air freshner vibes. Blind bought this based on a recommendation it smelled like artificial strawberry. I was thinking it would be more like strawberry starburst or strawberry shortcake but no. Hard pass.

kinpatsu

The reviewer who described this as Arabian Barbie is spot on. If you're looking for something strange/unique/unusual, this is great. I personally love it! I don't smell strawberries distinctly; on my skin I really get the balsam note, so essentially this perfume smells very similar to Nag Champa, or the inside of a Lush store. My brothers smelled it and thought it smelled 'like a Black and Mild cigar,' but that they liked it a lot.

patimbam

Weird in a likable way. Pretty scent for a sex doll.

Guilty pleasure for sure.

zind

Mukhallat actually smells exactly how I imagined and I LOVE it!

I totally get the wonderbaum reference, then again, there's one of those that I Absolute ly love despite the obvious synthetic smell. Mukhallat is a bit like that, and I probably love it because of my childhood memories. I had a huge eraser collection that my friends and I played with for years in the 80s. I have always wanted to find an eraser scent and this is pretty darn close and satisfies my needs. I also need to be clear about one thing, that this is not all kids game, the Peru balsam gives Mukhallat a resinous edge that makes this scent very appropriate for adults.

I need to wear my sample for a few full wearings to see that it doesn't get overwhelming, but initial respons is all thumbs up and yay, fun and great creation from Montale! 👍😍

pamplemousse2

I got a splash sample of this and one thing that surprised me about it was that the color of the juice was like a dark brown, almost reminded me of iodine, but a bit lighter. I didn't expect that based on the packaging and notes, but just an FYI to maybe avoid spraying this on light colored clothes. (Apparently this might not be the newest version of Mukhallat though, as supposedly they did lighten the color in recent reformulations)

Upon first applying, I get a generically "nice" fruity vanilla scent. I get the strawberry (I wonder what Big Strawberry is, lol), the almond, the vanilla, but then also actually a lot of woodiness to it, too, from the Peru Balsam. It's pretty resinous. I hate to say it, but it does smell pretty 'artificial' and cheaper in a way, but it's kind of hard to describe. But it's definitely not "I paid $170 for this" smelling. However, this balsamic note sets it apart from other artificial strawberry scents, like Burberry Her, Mon Paris, etc. and makes it feel a lot more "dark" and grown up and less like a juvenile strawberry/berry scent. The woodiness I actually smell more than the strawberry, which comes in under it, but is nice and sweet, juicy, warm, but plasticky. Like others have said, similar to a nostalgic children's toy kind of strawberry. Just mixed with wood.

Honestly with it being so plasticky, it's hard for me to think of words for this such as 'sexy,' 'flirty,' 'cute,' etc. But again, it's not juvenile or anything. It's just....odd, but not terrible. "Unique". Also, even though it has strawberry in it, I don't really think of spring or summer in particular with this with all the warm spicy woodiness and it being so oriental.

This may be also because I only applied about a 1/2ml of this, but projection isn't bombastic. I smell it definitely within arm's length and it does have good sillage, but it's not ultra strong on the skin or air.

30 minutes later and it's been pretty linear. I feel like it's "settled down" now more into a sweet resinous scent, perhaps a hint of musk. This may, again, be due to how much I applied, but I mostly smell it near my skin, where it is still stronger there. However there is still lighter projection.

I'll see how long this lasts.

3 hours later and it's still sweet and spicy, but more of a skin scent without projection.

5.5 hours later and it's mostly gone, just a super faint musky woody scent left directly on my skin. Again, if I applied more heavily, this might have lasted longer, as I see other people saying this lasts for many hours.

Miaharley7

Blind bought and fell in love. I see where people smell plastic, fake strawberry, doll head, etc etc. But surprisingly this is something I LOVE in a scent. To me it has a very unique Arabic theme… I watched a YouTube review where someone said this is what an Arabian Barbie would smell like; pretty spot on. Also it’s very strong. Typically you hear fruity/berry fragrance and assume it will be a juvenile weak type of scent… not Mukhallat! Such a unique and intoxicating fragrance. I have literally never smelled anything like it. I’m in love.

KHunton

I finally took the chance & blind bought Mukhallat since I couldn't find a tester.
It didn't let me down at all
It smells like the Strawberry Shortcake doll I had when I was little which I loved!
At first spray it seemed a little full on but as it warmed up on my skin it became softer & yummy.
Amazing longevity & very Strawberry dominant

piabx

I love this one so much. This is how niche scents should be. Unusual and fun. The strawberry in the opening is playful, joyful and loud. the scent overall is sweet but warm and cozy. The vanilla and peru balsam calms down the strawberry and give it a warm ambery feel. It makes the squeechy strawberry somewhow very sophisticated and arty. I will definitely buy a full bottle.

AmoreProfumi

Chyea.. I don’t even know.. I deff don’t think it’s for me but I don’t hate it either. I get very plasticky bubblegum with a slight powdery baby wipe undertone I also get the baby doll head reference. My curiosity got the best of me and had to try this with the all over reviews. I ordered just a 5ml and I’m kinda glad that I didn’t get a larger sample, deff don’t think I’d ever wear this out. This is everything in one people have said in the reviews..& you’re either going to love it or flat out hate it.
In depth if I had to compare this to any scent cause it does pretty much stand on its own with its oddity..the powdery baby wipe undertone reminded me of when I use to have fleur de male from Gaultier, just with more sweeter plastic bubblegum added. Also feel Montales scent DNAs get recycled and favor some of his other creations; feel this could be the oddball sister of Sweet Oriental Dream. So yea didn’t fall in love with it but didn’t totally break my heart b/c I just got a tiny sample. Think I’ll also have to revisit it in cooler weather to, if your curiosity ensues do order a sample first.

Edit: friend said it make for a great poopouri spray 😂

danygurl06

Im not sure what I think about this fragrance. I smell no strawberry nor plastic. It is super strong and sweet. I guess you call it girl by those standards. To me it smells like a car air freshener. It could either be one that comes out of a commercial machine that you spray under the seats called cherry but doesn't smell like cherry or a can you just sit in your car. My little nieces didn't care for it but my mom and aunts thought it smelled really good. One of my aunts even said it smelled sexy.

I swear i've smelled this fragrance before but I'm not sure where. Somehow, I thought this would be similar to Stella Pop but with a distinct strawberry note. I don't smell anything that resembles a doll head fragrance I'm familiar with, but I was under the age of 10 in the 90s. So this type of doll fragrance could be before my time.

Since it doesn't smell like a cheap bathroom air freshener and is not sharp, I can actually withstand it. Its quite potent though. Do not overspray.

quiqui

I agree with the love and likewise, agree with the people that don't love it. I think this fragrance is a lot of fun and unusual. And when it comes to plain old feminine fun that is also interesting, there aren't that many fragrances in the niche world. I feel like I smell like a strawberry shortcake scratch and sniff sticker.

Nraveles

So like...I literally made this myself from perfumers apprentice lmao.
I have almond, caramel, vanilla, a few balsamic notes I tried, and almond and it came out practically identical.

It’s good, I don’t get any plastic vibes, but it’s so easy to do yourself

ambydawn

Thought by the notes I might like this one, despite the reviews, but sadly it is not for me. Mostly BIG synthetic strawberry scent with some musk. I sat for awhile trying to decide what was so familiar about this, then I realized it smells just like the scented pencil erasers that used to be popular in the 90s. Kind of nostalgic in that way, but not something I want radiating off of me.

MahaS

I bought 3 sample sets from the Montale website and I added this one with low expectations due to the reviews. It ended up being one of my favorites, I am not sure If I am getting a full bottle yet since I will be using the sample first but I really liked this.

Now... I do understand the reason why some people hate it.. When it comes to Niche perfumes, they are usually very strong, overpowering, heaving on oud, rose, incense, etc. So if someone that loves intense cafe and rose vanille picks up a bottle of Mukhallat, they are definitely not going to love it. It will be underwhelming and generic.

In my case. I don't like Intense Cafe, Rose Vanille, Oud (haven't found one yet that I like), strong incense, heavy rose, heavy cedars. I have found a few wearable amazing perfumes in Montale that fit my taste and are still different from regular designer with good longevity. Mukhallat starts with that strawberry plastic smell that doesn't really last more than 5 minutes, I personally love it I don't think it's a disgusting smell but I see how some people can pick it up as plastic. To my nose it's more like an almond liquor combined with some strawberry syrup.

After it dries down it becomes something on the sabe vibe as Poison Girl minus de syrupy notes. The reason why I love this so much it's because to me it's a better version of Paco Rabbanne Black XS the old EDT version that got discontinued. I used it when it was released and honestly to me they smell very very similar. It has been years since I tested it but my mind went straight to that bottle when I used this, I was actually looking for it like crazy and after using this (even though it's not the exact same), it's close enough for me to be happy with this one and I will stop searching for the Paco.

Of course, I would recommend testing first before purchasing. But on my skin it's Black XS EDT combined with Poison Girl.

I hope this helps!

So I've been testing this quite a bit this week and almost finished with my sample (I just purchased a full bottle from Russia to be shipped to the U.S., so I'll have time to miss it until I receive the full bottle). I've heard and seen mixed reviews about this fragrance, and I've actually never tried any Montale fragrances before, so I went ahead and ordered a sampler pack from their website. I was most excited to try this one because of the mixed reviews, and I actually had high hopes for it to be really challenging. I don't find that to be the case at all, and actually I find this to be a beautiful and warm scent. It isn't quite gourmand despite the almond & strawberry, and I actually do get quite an "oriental" feel from this. This reminds me of a Wild Berry incense scent, although this doesn't necessarily smell like their strawberry (that has more of a clean strawberry scent with a crisp apple background), and smells a bit like the Cherry Vanilla scent, but with obvious strawberry in place of cherry. I do get a plasticky strawberry scent in the beginning, but it dries down to an emanating strawberry vanilla almond scent rounded out by the balsam, which keeps it from being a syrupy gourmand, I think. When I sniff this around me, I think of relaxing on puffy pink velvet pillows and white shag rags, shiny jewelry, a pipe topped with cannabis and incense burning in the background, all white listening to Raveena with the windows open on a sunny spring day (I love her music...and actually this scent makes me think of one of her music videos). It's comforting, nostalgic, sensual, and stands out. I haven't smelled another fragrance like this one, although if I had to pick some similar fragrances, I'd say it's like a mix of Hypnotic Poison & Poison Girl (sweet fruit & almond aspect minus citrus), Kilian Love (fluffy marshmallow scent), and Mugler Aura (green vanilla) had a baby and blessed it with incense upon arrival into the world. Smells great on my skin, although I can see how if it stays in the first stage for some people, it can get a bit cloying. Luckily, it becomes a beautiful scent (and I actually really enjoy that plastic strawberry bubble gum scent in the beginning). Random, but it also smells GREAT with sunscreen lotion.

I second the cheap air freshener vibe, to me it reminds me of the flavored stuff they gave me at the dentist growing up for a tooth cleaning—pretty sweet but so extremely synthetic and some vague fruit that probably does smell like strawberry, but I would only make that connection because I know it’s a note. I love the most gourmand sweet fragrances but this is just too fake sweet, bordering on cleaning product.
Maybe the vibe of those strawberry grandma candies with a soft center, but mostly just the syrup center, if the candy was 5 years old at the bottom of a drawer.
My husband said it was like the smell of someone spilling strawberry soda on the linoleum floor of the dollar store—dirtier plastic but not so much to us like the almost creamy powdery smell of Barbie heads, like I thought it would be.
Not a safe blind buy for sure, even if you like hyper sweet because heaven knows I do, but this was overwhelming.

Oh, guilty pleasure of mine. I. Love. This. Scent.
To be frank I was scared of trying this perfume, because a few reviewers called it Arabic (which it's not), unbearably artificial & someone even compared it to lube! (haha). Well...I wouldn't classify this as a Middle Eastern / Oriental at all.
The name is misleading indeed!

'Mukhallat' is extremely addicting on my skin. This smells slightly Western retro like those strawberry-vanilla scented dolls from the 70s to 90s but way more delicious, smoother & complex. It's playful, feminine, fun & oh so luscious. I've never smelled this on anyone before! The complete dry-down is a musky, vanilla-almond...reminds me slightly of Dior's 'Poison Girl' EDP & 'Hypnotic Poison' EDP. Not dupes! but sharing those 'almond playdough' facets.
Yes it's obviously synthetic but NOT screechy or sharp. 'Mukhallat' is so caressing to the nose. I love using this with Al Haramain's 'Makkah' perfume oil to intensify the performance.

Verdict: Feminine, subtly seductive but one needs an acquired taste of mellow synthetic notes :)
Mila Le Blanc if you see this: You ultimately convinced me to bite the bullet for this!

The initial first few sprays smell like raid bug spray. You have to clear the nozzle out by getting that smell out because it smells very plastic-like and a bug spray feel.

However, after clearing the first few sprays out and after the 4th spray I can pick up on notes of almond and strawberry during the dry down. This stuff settles after 10 minutes. Don’t judge by the opening of this fragrance.

To my nose, Montale’s Mukhallat smells like a strawberry frappachino at Starbucks with heavy dashes of almonds on top and a spritz of vanilla syrup.

This fragrance isn’t decadent/gourmand at all because the white musk in this fragrance keeps it in check from leaning towards gourmandish. Men and woman can wear this composition at it leans unisex.

The vanilla in this isn’t strong it is just a supporting cast along with white musk to tie in the fragrance to make it well balanced.

This stuff could get cloying the best time for this fragrance is definitely in the colder months and seasons and go easy on the trigger and never spray the same area twice.

Overall this fragrance has a middle eastern feel to it. It kind of smells holy something you would wear during Eid celebration after completing Ramadan for 30 days which myself and other Muslims practice.

Pierre Montale made many of compositions in Saudi Arabia for royal families so I can see where he gets his ideas and inspiration from. There’s a reason why montale and Mancera’s last a very long time in longevity because it has to adapt and last in climates where the weather is 105°F

Je rajouterais qu'il faut l'apprivoiser car après quelques heures est très doux et agréable, je vais revoir mon jugement et probablement le racheter, leçon à retenir : ne jamais juger trop rapidement un parfum, je crois m^me que je l'adore du coup
