I agree with the reviewer who said that it smells like stale cigarettes, the dry-down smells like that on me too. At first it smells like rice pudding amber heaven, but then it transforms into that... so sad because at first it was love at fist sniff!

Beautiful scent. I get compliments every time I wear this. I layer this with vanilla body lotion to get the perfect gourmand, I think it's best worn in Fall and Winter since the notes are so strong - I live in a humid climate and when I wore it during a hot day it projected far too heavily. I'm normally not a fan of amber scents but the sweeter notes make up for it.

This is my first Indie fragrance company and, so far, I am enjoying Alkemia and Silken Tent is one of my favorite fragrances from them. As soon as I sprayed Silken Tent on my skin, there was a freshness that almost smelled like getting out of a very clean, very steamy shower where you used lots of expensive, white-floral-scented body wash. But there is still enough complexity that other notes hit you quickly - buttery, caramel and a spicy, fragrant wood. As it dries down I, honestly, get all these notes and they remain there, which is fantastic. It shape-shifts a little on the skin from gourmand, to amber, to white floral. As it dries down, it does get slightly more amber than the initial spray (which is mostly like a caramel tuberose with a touch of fragrant wood). I only get the 'rice pudding' note, maybe, in the bottle before it's sprayed/applied. There is definitely a creaminess initially, but it fades on the dry down for me (which is fine). I like this fragrance a lot because it remains complex. This come off as a very clean, fresh and not heavy-handed gourmand due to the strong amber and floral notes adding balance here and, honestly, I think it tickles my brain in a way that reminds me of some long-forgotten Britney Spears fragrance I used as a teenager, but a bit more grown-up? I see this as a somewhat youthful mix and I can't get over the image of a teenage girl, dressed in all pink, wearing this to a party with her friends and receiving lots of compliments as she tries to smell a bit more adult and a bit less like the fruity-sweet fragrances that teenagers go for so often. However, I think also this would suit someone older who is usually into spicier ambers, but wants to dip their toes casually into gourmands (I'm into both, so I like this). This sits very close to the skin and doesn't really have a ton of sillage, but if you are looking for more intimate fragrances (for work, etc) this could be fine. As far as imagery, this is white florals dipped in caramel and left out on some peppered wood. My initial feeling is it is an 7.5/10.

I really want to love this fragrance, but there's some note on me that smells like stale cigarettes. When I put my nose up close though, the rice pudding note is very present and it's very sweet.

sadly, because of the stale cigarette smell on me I wouldn't purchase this. ;( I do think it's worth a try though because everyone's skin pulls differently.

Silken Tent is a beautiful fragrance. One of my favorites from Alkemia. It's sweet, warm and creamy but not cloying at all. I get the amber, caramel and light florals when I first apply it. The rice pudding note is blended beautifully with the caramel, amber and musk. I'm letting my bottle rest for a month or so. I also bought 2 sample packs (a total of 10 samples) but unfortunately most aren't listed in the database for me to review. I will say that so far, the samples that I love are: The Magpie's Rhyme, O Tea!, Calliope, Madam X and Carnival of Illustrious Hearts.

Edit/ this has aged so nicely. It's gotten stronger and the performance is great for an oil. It's my most worn amber fragrance. So comforting. It's like being wrapped up in the softest sweater.

Silken tent is just so damn comforting. It reminds me of my mom. She always wore amber perfumes. I read a comment stating that Silken tent smells like something a mother would wear when nursing- and i agree. It reminds me of hugging my mom as a young girl & smelling the ambery remnants of her perfume after she got home from work. It's sweet but a bit floral & foodie. My coworker smelt me & asked what i was wearing & ordered Silken tent as soon as we clocked out. It's honestly a good blind buy for gourmand lovers. To me it reminds me of glossier's you but with added sweetness. I also get clean laundry vibes when i wear it- but in an exotic way...its weird but to wrap things up: I would definitely recommend getting a sample.

it’s basically the same sweetness found in many other newly recognized perfumes - al rehab’s golden sand & 7 virtues vanilla woods for example. i can notice subtle differences in the way that note is blended though.

this is a sweeter than vanilla woods (which contains more “woodsy” and green notes).

smells most similar to golden sand by al rehab. but i believe it’s more faint of a scent, so it ends up smelling a hint sweeter than golden sand.

regardless, for now my winner is golden sand solely bc of projection. but honestly, silken tent is gorgeous. this candy sweet like floral fruity goodness that i refuse to put down lol

Physically I am just typing this review while waiting for my nails to dry, but emotionally I'm jumping up and down like Yosemite Sam with steam coming out of his ears. I do not disagree with any other review that this smells beautiful, golden, and frankly still unique even with the explosion of fragrance outputs from designer, niche, and indie houses over the past few years. It's all those things. But my skin HATES this. Even with the ultime, and over a month of rest, it's gone within half an hour of applying. I even double checked to make sure I hadn't gone nose-blind and had it confirmed via a friend that it was undetectable. It's so disappointing, this smells like something a benevolent minor Mesopotamian goddess would wear and I wanted to wear it all the time when the summer hit. I fully encourage anyone who's interested to still sample it because it's very likeable and I can see why it 's Alkemia's most popular scent, but we all have to take L's in life and this is one of mine.

Silken Tent was love at first sniff. The creamy rice pudding note is perfectly balance with light florals, there is a musky earthy quality to Silken Tent that is comforting and feels familiar. There is a nostalgic aspect to it that I can’t quite put my finger on. This is a perfect creamy but fresh scent for everyday and every occasion. This is my signature scent and bring me joy every time I wear it.

Krakmonke9

Maybe I need to let this one rest a bit. I mostly get sweet florals from this. In a mellow, soft, non offensive way. I can definitely smell the candied aspect and the sweetness of the amber. I wish the rice pudding note were much stronger. That would really elevate this for me. As is, it’s a nice sweet floral. Seems like a safe blind buy.

I ignored this for a long time because of how popular it is. I dismissed it as a basic bitch scent. I picked up my sample which has been unused for a long time and I couldn't stop sniffing myself, I had to get myself an ultime bottle 😍 gourmand perfumes can be too much for me, but Silken Tent isn't sickening or overbearing. It's blended perfectly.

It's caramel, amber, rice pudding with florals and a green, spicy note in the background. It's soft, creamy and comforting. It reminds me of some sort of amber scented lotion. Both the extrait and ultime have good throw and longevity.

mfaye31

I keep trying this one out again and again because so many people love it, but to me, it smells like playdoh and I can't get behind it :(

olfactorydarling

I am not a fan. On my skin it’s not creamy. It’s a cheap air freshener scent 😝 I’m so sad. I wonder if I got a bad batch.

EDIT: Okay, I've tried it several more times now and I'm starting to get it. I LIKE IT :)

Cmlake89

I'm seeing this word used over and over: "creamy". Silken Tent is exactly creamy with a tad bit of jasmine sweetness. I love this scent. It's one that I'd imagine wearing to nurse an infant. This is a "nestle yourself by my side!" type of smell. I also agree that JPG La Belle smells like this Silken Tent.

onlythesun321

This is DELICIOUS. Rice pudding and buttered popcorn and something cool and sweet like summer night air that I'm guessing is the angelica and chrysanthemum.

yeesa_

it smells delicious I own vanilla woods and it smells exactly like it just a tad bit lighter

This is an AMAZING gourmand by Alkemia. In my opinion, their BEST perfume. Warm, sensual, creamy, rice-pudding gourmand notes blended with ambery, buttery florals, drying down to a creamy, milky vanilla— but always tantalizing you with the “is it a floral OR is it a gourmand?!” =D well, it’s literally the best of both worlds. I’ve never smelled another perfume like this. I’ve never found another perfume like this. There isn’t another perfume like Silk Tent. I’m not joking. Also- there is no dupe for this. It’s literally one of a kind.

I’m absolutely obsessed. Honestly, this smells like something Tom Ford would create. No joke. This perfume has so much depth and complexity that is associated with Tom Ford’s Private Blend creations. I am so enchanted by Sharra Lamoureax’s talent in perfumery. Highly recommend!!!

catsmagic

I love love love this. It was one of those that I didn’t like at first but I let it rest for a few months and now it’s absolutely delightful. It just screams warm, comforting, gentle.

the_proust_effect

Reminds me a bit of La Belle by JPG, but without the freshness. Sadly, this smells so strongly of playdough on me, which wasn’t exactly what I was going for. The comparison to Kenzo Amour makes sense.

Eleroy

Love love love love love and I am totally ordering a spray bottle with my next Alkemia order. Sweet yet luxurious, classy and sophisticated. I don't really smell individual notes much (aside from a hint of caramel maybe?), but to me it smells like fresh silk bed sheets (but no, it doesn't have any detergent notes, it just smells fresh somehow).

sagesmells

This is a fantastic scent. For me, it hits the same olfactory scent spot that BR 540, Black Opium, and Hypnotic Poison do. The sweetness is balanced very well and it is a pleasure to wear.

Sophonisba

Sweet, creamy, warm with a hint of floral. It's light on me and sits very close to the skin.

fleader

I'm not a gourmand-head but this one won me over. Like others, I would compare it to Kenzo Amour, because of the creamy sweet rice note they share; yet where Amour chooses majestic flowers, Silken Tent chooses humble flowers and herbs. Ultimately Silken Tent its own creature. I've never smelled anything like it.

It's a bit weak in terms of performance however, compared to other Alkemia scents. But hey, I guess that's just the nature of the notes involved. I originally bought the rollerball bottle but I'm thinking of getting a spray bottle now so I can completely douse myself in it to compensate.

maci2222

This is just delightful. It smells terrific! It is a soft sweetie. Incredibly comforting caramel floral. It is very unique and I just adore this! i don't think it particularly smells like cookies or food, but it has this aura of... yum.

MadamNijinsky

Dad said it smelled sort of medicinal. I can kind of detect that (not sure what note it is giving that impression), but it's much nicer than you would think. Very soft and feminine, a great fall/winter scent.

Tobiornottobi

I cannot describe it. It's the kind of scent you want to hug it's warm and comforting. I do not smell any particular note, they must all be blended together like a cake/cookie batter. Later I get more of the florals/botanicals but they do not smell like regular flowers they feel lightly spiced. 10/10.

modernwarpaint

After sampling 18 Alkemia oils today, Silken Tent is hands down my favorite.

Right away, there is something familiar - something tart and sweet, slightly spicy. It reminds me of Parfums de Marly Delina replacing the rose, peony, nutmeg and the sometime challenging rhubarb with tuberose, Chrysanthemum, clove, respectively. The sweetness from vanilla is substituted with caramel and Amber. I’m not saying they smell identical. What they share is that balance of flavors and textures: tart, spicy, creamy, and sweet. Like many others have reviewed, it is unique, and frankly I love this way more.

Masterfully blended, complex enough to make my jaw drop to the point that I lost my appetite (and trust me I was ravenous 5 minutes prior).

Tuberose and rice pudding add a creamy balminess, a rounded, smooth quality. I normally don’t care for amber, but this amber with the caramel is so divine.

Seductive and mysterious, perfect Autumn scent.
Orgasmic!

I’m getting a full bottle right after I post this review.
I may have lost my appetite, but not for this.

Pamster

When i first opened this up, it smelled exactly like Al Rehab's Golden Sand. It has the exact same opening blast of sweet, luscious caramel. As it dries down, the differences become apparent. This is less sweet than Golden Sand and more sophisticated with hints of white flowers. It has a soft creaminess that lingers for a long time. Pleasant, but I was expecting something more exotic.

bintTapputi

Gorgeous. Hella beautiful. Unbelievable.

"Candied angelica, chrysanthemums, white flowering Nardo, clove flowers, jasmine-scented rice pudding, blonde caramel, infused with golden amber."

I bought this sample mostly cause I liked the name and the provided imagery & poetry on the brands website. I can't really put into words how gorgeous this is. I will be getting a bottle very soon. What can I say? This is so comforting, relaxing, slightly sweet and scrumptious. This is the smell of tender cuddles, early or late summer, relaxing in the shade of a hot day, I only wish it was stronger & longer lasting. It's beautiful and I think something you could wear anywhere for any reason. Now I just need to figure out if I should buy the EDP, ultime or spray. Highly recommend.

"Unknown! how I wish you lay, Alone in my silken tent to-night While I charmed the pain away. I would lay you down on the Royal bed, I would bathe your wounds with wine, And setting your feet against my head Dream you were lover of mine. My Crown is heavy upon my hair, The Jewels weigh on my breast, All I would leave, with delight, to share Your pale and passionate rest!" -- Adela Florence Cory Nicolson

Girlnamedsandoz

This scent is amazing. Absolutely beautiful. It's warm, sweet, creamy, exotic and soft. I smell cardamom, rice pudding, saffron and I haven't smelled anything like it before in a perfume.

prismacat

This is one of the best scents I have ever owned! Every single time I wear it out, someone comments on how wonderful or delicious I smell. Honestly, to me, it really does smell like a huge, folded up, aged silk or satin tent, in the best way. The rice pudding, caramel, and angelica smell the way a silk robe feels on your skin. It smells like nothing else I've ever owned, but it is lush and gorgeous and Alkemia has captured pure magic in a bottle with this scent. I have it in oil form now, though I am considering buying the EDP or ultime version and possibly both, because I just love it so much. It's lovely year round - I don't feel like there's any season it fits better, as it's light enough for summer wear but still warm and comforting for winter. What a masterpiece.

colorfulmess

The only other time I've smelled chrysanthemum is in De Profundis and I can actually recognize it here. It's very dusty and green and that's the first thing you smell when it's applied. It's gorgeously addicting!

Overall, I was expecting a cloyingly sweet caramel but I got sweet + tart + peppery GRASS in the first stage. It's actually very tangy. Pleasantly surprised since I love green scents and this is an interpretation I haven't smelled before.

Later the rice pudding note really shines...lovely.

A must try if you're bored with the current perfume offerings these days!

pecanpancakes

A beautiful, sweet, soft, dry and powdery gourmand with some hints of tuberose and angelica adding interest...but unfortunately, with a strong play-doh scent that kind of ruins an otherwise great fragrance. Apparently Alkemia's Temptation has the same problem.

Neckromancer

It's astonishing how aptly named this perfume is. It smells like an old, yellowed fabric tent that was prepared as a sugared dessert. Strange, cool, but still very accessible and wearable.

ptilda

I didn't know what to expect from this one, but I'm happy to have it. I was sent an oil sample and an alcohol based spray that has a strange leathery/linseed oil note to it. I actually prefer the one with the weird note. To Me, the oil (the way it's apparently "supposed" to smell) is just on the boring side.

To be fair, I'm not the biggest gourmand fan, and this is gourmand. Not overly sweet, and it's more interesting than the typical foody gourmand. But I'll stick to the spray. That has more character.

mapache

Yes...rice pudding with caramel..and the floral vibe is there also. I see the connection with Kenzo Amour too.

This is a very nice scent, but not for me.

stayathomesiren

this really isn’t like anything i’ve smelled before: rice pudding with a hint of jasmine and swirls of caramel. comforting and intriguing. i really enjoy the drydown of this. UPDATE: i bought a 1 oz alcohol spray bottle as well as an ultime rollerball. there is really nothing else out there quite like this, and it's beautiful! highly recommended for gourmand and white floral lovers.

miss mills

A soft sweet amber on me, no clove leaf or tuberose detected by my nose but the angelica curbs the sweetness to render this not at all sickly, almost but not quite tobacco like. Very wearable - if you like gentle gourmands, give this a sniff.

scentitar

Very soft white linen, nothing scandalous here and certainly nothing dryer sheet or immature.

I find this fragrance to be what a silk shirt would smell like, if I ever owned one. Soft, calming, and familiar. I certainly see where people are getting the white rice vibe from.

I think this is a real beauty and perfectly unisex.
6 hours longevity, but it becomes very soft after the mild projection that only last a hour or so.

Silken Tent took awhile to grow on me but now it’s one of my go-tos. I can’t even really describe it, just lush, rich gourmand flowers. It is incredibly unique. I literally can’t think of a single perfume it reminds me of. The opening is incredibly clever and almost smells like tobacco to me, even though that isn’t a note.

On my skin and to my nose, tuberose and jasmine are at the forefront and the most noticeable. I don’t find the rice note obvious but I think it accentuates the creaminess of the scent.

Highly recommended, at least sample it!

UnearthlyApothecary

I love this scent! it’s top 5 Alkemia for me :) it reminds me a bit of Kenzo Amour but maybe not as powdery. It’s sweet, heavenly, comfort in a bottle, very romantic smelling to me. Highly recommend if you are a fan of tuberose or gourmands. I have the ultime, but even the regular formula is very powerful, it lasts on my skin all day and has quite noticible/powerful silage for an oil.
