Fate Woman by Amouage is a Chypre Floral fragrance for women. Fate Woman was launched in 2013. The nose behind this fragrance is Dorothée Piot. Top notes are Cinnamon, Pepper, Red Chilli Pepper and Bergamot; middle notes are Incense, Narcissus, Labdanum, Rose and Jasmine; base notes are Incense, Benzoin, Vanila, Castoreum, Leather, Oakmoss and Patchouli.

AMOUAGE presents a new fragrant pair called FATE which arrives on the market in the summer of 2013. The new fragrances come in very distinctive and luxurious bottles in colors of pearl iridescence in shades of yellow, purple, light green and light blue. Gold details underline the luxurious composition. This fairy-tale edition is emphasized by the illustrations of the moon, sun and stars on the outer cartons that hold the bottles on the pedestals.

The new fragrance for women Amouage Fate for Women is announced as very spicy and floral. It belongs to the oriental-chypre-floral fragrances. Its composition opens with bergamot, cooling the rich blend of spices (pepper, chili and cinnamon) in the top notes. The heart of the composition includes a floral bouquet of rose, jasmine and daffodil, surrounded by a mysterious veil of incense and labdanum. The base incorporates an extremely oriental blend of vanilla, patchouli, incense, benzoin, castoreum, leather and oak moss.

2 word review:

Spicy Cola.

AnastasiaGostieva

Beautiful spices mixed with fresh and cooling peppery notes and slightly soapy jasmine. It smells very classy, but also quite refreshing (almost minty). It’s super complex (like all Amouages), so in the base you can expect to get more incense and balsamic type of notes. It reminds me quite a bit lot of La Myrrhe Serge Lutens, but this one is more modern.

I'm trialling a lot of more warm spicy + wooden scents at the moment and purchased a small sample of this because of all the good reviews.

At first spray, it's a chaotic mix of chilli + balsamic. Not at all feminine, no floral or vanilla upfront. Easily overpowering + sharp.

As it settles, you mostly just get subdued wooden tones and hippy opp shop vibes from the incense. I was hoping the incense note would be something yummy like in dior ispahaan, but it wasn't.

Immediate projection is strong but dies down very quickly. Not very impressed with the perfume overall but with the initial chilli note it is niche 🤷

Myrtillajus

Fate : representation of the unknown, with a fragrance that theoretically should give the idea of something mystical, obscured, unknown.
It's actually a chypre with very vintage characteristics, which opens in a spicy way, and then gives way to incense and flowery scents. I love the leather notes but I can't feel them here.
It's not my thing, I find it too opulent and unfortunately it failed to excite me, but obviously tastes are always subjective.

Hifza

Yes, this one smells heavenly and it's an addiction but very overpowering as I heard right! Has any one tried any one of the impressions of this scent? I heard about the DUA version of this fragrance with the name of Destiny Pour Femme and its quite well-proportioned but never got the chance of trying it. Thinking to order it in the current sale going on.

nisarsarah9

My mother used to own a bottle of this and I used to secretly wear it however, I realized that this scent used to give me a headache and it was too strong. It had an overpowering impact and even though it smells fresh and have a very lasting scent, I just couldn't bear the strong sour notes in it. Is there anyone who have an idea of a reasonable dupe which is available in the market which is not strong or overpowering then I'd like to try it out. Let me know plss!

RottigrlNYC

It’s ok, it has all my favorite notes in it, yet I don’t get them all. I get the pepper right away in the opening, it’s too overpowering for me . The dry down part is what saves this one. Really, she could have left the pepper out and add more labdanum. With all the incense it claims to have(I love incense heavy perfumes) I can barely detect it. The vanilla and patchouli is very nice, but you have to wait a while for it. All in all it’s a like, not full bottle worthy for me. I have many other Amouage that I love much more. However I did blind buy a 50ml bottle a while ago and I think Im gonna sell or swap it. I really need to stop blind buying.

The chilli is just so cool in this fragrance. ... gives dimension to the vanilla-resin spice bomb it otherwise is. I am in a cellar filled with spices, cool but with sun streaming down through a vent (that's the chilli). A slightly dusty note, but great. It feels like history. It feels like stories. It feels like cooking with love and waking up after ... a great night. I've loved it for years, I still love it.

aynala216

Smells like a millionaire woman in her mid thirties in the Rolling ‘20s era. She likes to be in the jazz clubs with the guys smoking a cigarette but has great sex appeal.

c0rtland

revisited this recently. definitely wonderful. there is a lot of vanilla in here surrounded by cumin spices and florals. very Amouage. I will admit it does have a chalky vibe that is flat at times. Has a dryness similiar to meander. nice warm and interesting.

Sherine777

This is a masterpiece. A beautiful grand oriental fragrance that has a hint of Coco, Opium and Shalimar, in that order for me. It is not a replication by any means, it's a unique composition that has all the glory of the past without being outdated at all. I have the 3 perfumes I mentioned and in all honesty having them doesn't substitute for having Fate, it is something on its own.

I checked Amouage website and it is out of stock, if it does mean that this is discontinued, that would be a great loss.
I can't imagine why would a brand with Amouage's legacy discontinue this beauty, it truly embodies what the brand is all about. Would be a shame if they would change direction to 'mainstream' offers and loose what made them so unique.

Note: The review below from Enrium is excellent in breaking down the notes and progression of the perfume.

Ferra_Verto

Quite bold and daring; burst of bold and rather bright spice delves into a smoky incense paired with pollenated white florals, nose-ticklingly so. Continues on its spicy journey to become more resinous, and becomes considerably drier as the leather facet becomes more apparent.
Best suited for cold weather, would wear beautifully on a sunny day.
Definitely must be sampled before trying.

supersaiyan

Gorgeous but I decluttered my bottle (which was beautiful, a true gem and I kinda sorta really regret it). Fate opens with a blast of cola, but soon a subtle animalic quality is revealed. This scent is also quite dry and spicy and yes very very spicy! It goes a tinge metallic on me, though I adore the soapy incense that is revealed in this fragrance. It is the same incense I smell in Lyric W, though I prefer that one and hence this bottle was let go. Did i mention it was super dry and spicy? Beautiful, hard to determine if it was for me or not. Maybe one day Fate will come back to my collection.

Farrque

Opens up with vanilla + clove which instantly gives me a middle eastern Chanel type of feeling.
Quickly changes profile to incense, leather, sweet resins, clove, vanilla and an ever so slightly funky note that fits it so well.
Elegant, versatile and at the same time bold perfume. Great juice!
A lot of Amouage's offerings "for women" are better than those offered for men, so don't be afraid to try them out!

AriaLennon

Wow. Wow. Wow. The first scene is an explosion of flowery brightness. A bright, flowery, supernova exploding into life in an exotic aromatic garden. It's quite hot. It's really near to the skin, yet it has decent projection. The blooms have a tropical sense to me, and they don't smell like regular roses, jasmine, or narcissus. The late dry down becomes deeper, sweeter, warmer, and much more seductive. Superb!

iszzieanna

A typical, opulent Amouage fragrance. But with spice. A well-crafted fragrance. Just not for me

Gabba

If I knew before that it is a clone of Opium on my skin, I would buy full flacon of Opium instead of 10 ml decant of Amouage. Something's wrong with this scent, I remembered Fate (from years ago) as DEEP, balsamic, smoky, salty, bitter, COMPLEX, spicy, rich intoxicating scent which leaves a trail, but now I got warm amber-myrrh blanket and that's all folks. Can someone describe where's the problem or my nose is broken? I like it but it is definitely not the same as I remembered.

TeachOlfactoryArt

Renaud Salmon, possibly under orders, is ruining Amouage. He’s more interested in the “customer service and advertising experience” than in the innovative nature with excellent materials of classic perfumery. The new perfumes under his watch are awful and the old great ones like Fate and UBar are being discontinued. Shame! Another once great house bites the dust.

DT953

I have tried this a few more times since my initial review and I still have to say that the comparisons to vintage Opium are unfair to both fragrances; they're very different, and if purchased or tried with the intention of smelling Opium... you'll likely be disappointed. This is spicy in a totally different way, this has heat and dustiness and Opium has warmth. Both fragrances are excellent and lovely, but not as similar as one might be lead to believe. I don't say this to proclaim "everyone is wrong!" but more to caution any person who might see the "reminds me of" section and decide, for some reason, that a $495 bottle of Fate might be a safe blind buy where a vintage bottle of Opium might be a risk.

Either way, this has strange appeal. If you're attracted to a little bit of quirkiness, without risk of being "too much", this is for you... you'd also probably need to enjoy the smell of pepper and chilli because they're here by the barrel full.

skybunny

What the extremely glam vampire that lives in the basement of the Vatican would smell like.

Fate has an old-fashioned glam perfume base, but what really stands out are all of the resins and Catholic church incense. It definitely has a spicy, smokey, makeup-y, and moody vibe. I will be wearing Fate a lot this fall and winter.

RottigrlNYC

Be careful of where u buy your perfumes from. Not all discounters are legit. I bought two bottles of Fate, one from fragranceX and the other from retail . The Fragrance X has absolutely no smell to it. It’s just a big oily mess. The other one is a beautiful perfume. I’ve purchased from FragranceX before and didn’t even think so check and see if it was authentic. This time it was so obvious. Imagine, an Amouage perfume that has no scent to it.
And no I don’t have Covid. I can smell all of my other perfumes just fine.

KarinaSo

Complex, heavy, warm, very opulent, eastern composition

Amv10

This marvelous fragrance is out of stock on Amouage site and their services confirmed that it is not expected to be brought back. I wonder what is the issue knowing that Ubar has the same fate, also confirmed by them. When Renaud Salmon took over his interview was about getting back to the Omani roots of the house and although of course they should issue new creations like they did, and pretty nice ones, killing the classics and most exceptional ones (only Gold and Jubilation 25 actually remain from that) is not what I would call celebrating the roots of the house. They can definitely co-exist both. Hence another great fragrance gone.

strangelight

I think this may be discontinued (and is out of stock in most places), so you may want to jump on quick if you want one!

Either way, I love everything about it - aside from the price, but if you're going to splurge, this is a very worthy choice. Beautiful bottle too. If this was what vintage Opium was like, I can see why it was such a huge hit - it's nothing like the modern "Opium" to my nose though.

FATE WOMAN: A masterpiece of perfumery. (Chypre-floral-oriental)

In the opening, an aromatic explosion of hot spices (pepper, cinnamon and chilli🌶️) is perceived under a halo of incense, contrasting and intertwining with a fresh, citrus and floral touch of bergamot that awakens the senses; revealing a floral and balsamic heart, where the flowers (rose, jasmine and daffodils) are interwoven in a veil of olibanum resting on amber and leathery chords in perfect symphony.

As time goes by, it approaches a surprisingly beautiful base, where benzoin and oakmoss emerge combined with woody and earthy nuances of patchouli along with animalic chords (castoreo, leather) creating a mysterious and seductive atmosphere. Vanilla provides warmth and resinous sweetness, closing the composition in a perfect balance; imparting depth and refinement to the drydown.

Substantivity on my skin is more than 12 hours, with excellent diffusion and sillage.

This is a perfume that fascinates me for its beauty and elegance. Both the bottle and the packaging are of incomparable exquisiteness.

Fate is magnificent, opulent, sensual and with the hallmark of the Amouage house.

It’s remind me of beautiful childhood memories.
Masterpiece

Delicately sexual-sensual and ravegenly beautiful

This is how to create a great oriental. Chypre background is very prominent, lots of spice, animalic notes, good dose of flowers and the oriental part itself with its rich vanilla is so beautifully warm and sensual. Every part is so beautifully done! It’s really smell good and it’s really emotional. Harmony and balance is what makes this so good.

Sad that it’s discontinued. This is a great fragrance.

Fate is another top-notch scent from Amouage - a warm, rich amber spicebomb in the vein of Opium with nods to the likes of Shalimar, Coco and Youth Dew throughout. Bold, dark and opulent, Fate is extroverted and glamorous. An excellent modern oriental inspired by the classics, it bridges the gap between tradition and modernity while delivering timeless, elegant beauty.

Fate opens with a spicy accord, featuring the intriguing use of chilli pepper, bolstered with warm, sweet cinnamon and a slightly sneezy pepper note. It reminds me of vermouth at its early stages. Bergamot adds a hint of tart freshness, providing a nice counterpoint to the spices before the floral accord emerges. Polleny narcissus is initially most obvious to my nose, enhanced by the spices. Balsamic labdanum keeps the amber accord anchored firmly, while rich, sweet, powdery rose and jasmine notes round out the florals. A beautiful, smoky frankincense note - almost an Amouage "trademark" - ties it all together, perfectly enhancing the spices, florals and amber. I love a churchy incense note in perfume, having been raised Catholic, and no-one does it better than Amouage.

After several hours, the florals die down, and the complex-yet-cohesive drydown begins. Dry, resinous amber notes, enhanced to perfection by softly sweet vanilla form the crux of the base (here, it is Shalimar-like), while dry spicy notes complement it. A beautiful, smooth sandalwood grounds Fate at this stage, paving the way for the chypre phase. Some oakmoss and patchouli make for a traditional-modern chypre accord, adding some earthiness, alongside an animalic leather note. The drydown is a lovely, cohesive marriage of the oriental and chypre olfactory families, but the amber accord remains king. It eventually fades to a smoky amber skin scent with a hint of lingering spice. Sillage is fairly strong, and longevity is almost day-long.

One of the very best spicy amber perfumes I have tried, Fate is sublime: like vintage Opium, but better - novel instead of dusty. Beautifully composed, it is another opulent, regal beauty from Amouage. Extroverted feminine elegance, yet could be unisex. My Fate is sealed - I must get a full bottle. 5/5.

So, the first try was an unpleasant experience after the top notes wore off.

This does remind me of Jubilation for women with fruity floral notes added, and Jubilation reminds me of a very dry simplified Opium. Actually, this also smells like what I love about Lyric woman, spiced tart roses at the opening.

This is not sweet at all. It’s a tart cinnamon rose…

Recently, I am always on the lookout for scents with a notable floral(rose) fruity cinnamon and clove notes and this is one of those. But I’m still looking for something sweeter, fruitier, and with more cinnamon-along the lines of Mariage-but longer lasting.

The nauseating part of Fate was in the dry-down on skin and fabric, so it wasn’t me. I was in a sunny spot when I first applied it, and then inside in a cooler environment the second time. The first time on dry-down I got this nauseating oxidized-metallic-over-ripe fruit juice on warm skin smell and it made my stomach turn. Smelled this note in a handful of Bianchi scents I tested recently and wish I knew what it was. Maybe it’s a citrus note going bad or some notes mixing together badly? I don’t know. If anyone else knows this smell, let me know.

The second time I tried this, I just got a fruity Jubilation plus Lyric and it was very pleasant. I will test it again and see if I can get that bad smell to reappear again. 7/10 -for now it’s good without the bad smell I mentioned earlier. Let’s see how it also holds up…well, it lasts less than an hour on cotton fabric.

molly1217

I wondered how Amouage would interpret fate.

How is it so similar to Shalimar?
- I remember, this was the first time I smelled Fate.

Fate is a huge diamond from the East with dozens of perfectly faceted faces.
Under the ruthless illumination of the showcase light, Fate at first glance is composed of pieces of cold white with no temperature on one side - in fact, Fate will flash with brilliance at different angles.
Compared to the warm and affectionate Shalimar, Fate does lack some sensibility.
Continuous "Boom Boom" plosives, and a prolonged hiss... The cool acid bubbles on the surface disappeared without a trace.
That's presumably aldehydes at work (and possibly bergamot).
...I'm guessing there's an extremely subtle chemistry going on here. The Fate at the beginning was like sparkling water, with a clear texture.
Bright mint tones, preceded by a layer of glass before the brilliant floral notes of eugenol, golden narcissus, jasmine and rose. Incense, pepper, and cinnamon pile up fat solid bodies.
Difficult to define fragrance notes. Fate seen through the glass has no outline, but a mass of colorful colors. The sourness of bergamot neutralizes the pungency of the powdered spice, the labdanum melts the floral aroma, adds the almost imperceptible smoke, the fishy smell of animal glands (cumin civet beaver...), the dampness of oakmoss , the warmth of amber.
A silent thunder.
more art forms than other senses can receive.
Fragrance is actually not as easy as I thought. Especially for someone like me who has no relevant olfactory memory, scent resonance is very difficult.
Fate, it hits my heart right once.
The majestic symphony of destiny!

Fate, full of tension, is a world of its own in the cold wind.
It accompanied me home, took out three Opiums of different ages and concentrations, and placed them with Fate.
Take a deep breath.
Scent of the orient wafts in the air.
Carnations...?
It turns out that the common secret of the two is eugenol.

Fate is a rainbow across the sky.
It has a sense of drama, structure, and the perfumer handles the conflicting turns between the elements, and it does a good job.

Floral, spice, chypre (oakmoss), animal gland incense, incense, wood, the six categories of elements resonate and echo, which is very exciting. Perfumers should take into account the odor of each material itself and blend it, but also consider the nature of chypre and oriental.
Perfect balance and unparalleled coordination.
If I could only pick one Amouage, my answer would always be Fate.

Bought a bottle at the end of the year as a birthday present for myself.
I dare not say that I have smelled Amouage's Fate.
But I know why, it has such a name.
I understand that the changes in the perfume industry in the past 100 years are what Fate really wants to tell - destiny!

Aeris

I'm starting to wonder if they people are are saying that this has nothing to do with Opium have something wrong with their noses. I have been wearing Opium constantly for the last few decades. This is extremely close. In fact, if I smelled this on someone, I would've assumed that it was one of the varients of Opium (I wear the EDT, so would've assumed it was the EDP or a flanker). It's definitely the same DNA, and it would'nt surprise me if it influences Amouage. Needless to say, those who love Opium will like this (also lovers of Youth Dew or Coco by Chanel). Ignore the laughable reviews who claim this have nothing to do with Opium.

Atomikbomb_

The opening is really tough. I feel like I'm in a jiu-jitsu match, and the spice has it's grips around my neck. It never sinks in entirely though, although it's oppressive and aggressive for 10 minutes. Cold air helps.

But thankfully it mellows out, and there's a touch of time that feels very powdery too. Why? I don't know. It's about 25-45 minutes in. I know there are some powdery aromachemicals or whatever in here. Don't tell me there aren't 🧐

The rest of this review is going to be long and possibly poetic. If you don't like that, why don't you bugger off now. K? ~

~

I've been thinking about labdanum very much this year. If you research it's history, it ranges in depth nearly as much as much as the depth of aroma itself. Historians and aromatics enthusiasts actually claw at each other as to where it originated. It *seems* (don't shoot me) that it's as ancient (probably more) as the Bible itself, and it's birthplace is the near east, maybe even the area of the 3 rivers mentioned in Genesis.

It's known as "rock rose", and it might be the "Rose of Sharon". Ancient Egyptians offered it in their sacred rites, and it's likely a key component in "onycha". It's integral in Arab perfumery, and still today is cherished by those of Islamic faith. It additionally has roots in Mediterranean/Grecian history, was the apple of Herotodus' eye, and is referenced in Greek mythology. Most likely offered to Aphrodite. Today, it's critical to amber accords, and naturally the French claim to hold the most exquisite essential oils, or CO2 extractions (of f*cking course they do, they're French 🙄😏). The Jewish of heritage and Judistic consider this flower a primary substance in traditional blends as well, snubbing other misuses and pagan applications (of which there are myriads). The Celts and Nordic even have their claim on it. Vikings allegedly sized aromatics and spices, and developed a taste for exquisite, exotic fragrances, not least of all, labdanum/cistus. I'm not about to debate the moralistic implications here...but still, it's important even in Scandinavia [How many people can I upset and offend here?! Pop me bruh!]. It's a massive deal in Morocco too, which is kind of known as a cultural crossroad.

So, naturally I grow more and more inclined and fascinated by this unassuming little white flower as I dig into what is obviously only surface-level information on a global, and inter-continental scale. Everyone is griping that this...this is *THEIR* flower. Their peoples' flower. Their heritage. Christians, Muslims, Jews, Greeks, Egyptians, Celts, French, Spaniards, Norse...

To make things even more engaging, labdanum varies in fragrance naturally as much as these peoples and cultures vary. It can be sweet. Resinous. Incense-y. Warm. Bitter. Mossy. Animalic. Leathery. Rose-y. Even powdery.

And so as I smell this fragrance today, I think truthfully that it smells like labdanum entirely. But it doesn't smell like it even has lot of actual labdanum in it (that I can tell after owning 3 different bottles of essential oil, and testing it for years).

It smells of plushy vanilla. And labdanum.

It smells of spicy incense (a sweet kind, this one isn't crazy in the drydown). But also labdanum.

It smells of warm leather jackets next to the fire. Yes. But again. So does labdanum.

So what I'm trying to say I suppose, is that this smells of the notes listed, in some part (moreso a powdery incense to me), but in a way that simply echos the qualities of labdanum. It's as if they took facets if labdanum and highlighted them using other ingredients, but it all ties into this centerpiece of a flower (a flower of epic proportions). So regardless of what it is that you're smelling, you're actually just smelling a side of the rock rose.

It's really quite interesting, and I wonder if the perfumer intended it. Probably not. But it's kind of like a mandala piece, or some sacred geometry that spins off from a central point, and the eye is drawn inward. This is the olfactory equivalent, and it's just a lot of framing around that central scent - cistus.

You might not get *any* of this from this fragrance, and that's cool too. It's a very warm, sweet ambery incense with a powdery vanilla. I don't smell daffodil/narcissus AT ALL, or a lot of other other things. But that labdanum matches all that other stuff, and this well-blended. Great longevity, decent projection. It's delicious in the cold air!

So. Umm...I want this. I'm going to save my sample like a junkie, it's gorgeous.

lovetribe

pleasant, different, unsettling.
spicy, smoky, resinous, multidirectional. either you love it or you hate it. oriental, oily, disturbing but at the same time attractive.
definitely different and therefore not boring.
I don't feel like giving a grade or evaluating the single notes.
certainly far above sufficiency.

Having a hard time describing this new-to-me Amouage. Unfortunately Fate fails to hold my interest long term. I vacillate between a sweet, carbonated beverage, baby powder and the smell of a doctors office (cleaning supplies possibly?).

It’s well made, but doesn’t work with my chemistry.

Nahema973

This is a recent buy so I'm not ready for a review just yet, but I am enjoying it so far. It reminds me of another perfume that I have not seen mentioned in the reviews yet: Cinnabar (original version) by Estée Lauder. Always was a fan, even if this is not a perfume for everyone. I think these two also have quite a lot in common...

Italian pigeon musk

This is very classy, almost seems more suited for a mature woman, although I still think anyone could wear this but it definitely has a mature vibe. Definitely seems more suited for cooler weather.

It's opening is very spicy, it's also very powdery. The dry down felt very musky too. Spices throughout and a slight tartness, contrasting to the spices, especially in the opening. Pepper is strong. It's a very complex fragrance with so much going on but all very well blended and balanced.

This projected like crazy for about 3 hours, just radiates off the skin, could actually feel it leaving a trail. Actually almost coughed a couple times it's intense. It did come in much closer and was intimate for another 3 hours.

This one is nostalgic in a way that reminds me of moments in my childhood, I feel like I've smelled this multiple times before. I'm sure it being similar to some of these vintage powerhouse woman fragrances there were some older ladies in my life wearing something similar.

It's a very very comforting scent to me, although I said to myself while I was wearing this at work this morning I can't see myself wanting to wear this, even though it really is a beautiful fragrance.

I see it's compared to Jaipur, and I almost blind bought Jaipur I was so intrigued by the reviews, but I convinced myself I didn't need it. I think I really now want to try Jaipur if it's similar to fate woman.

I do really like this scent, although I don't know if fate woman is really that special enough for me to justify having to have a bottle. Price is good though on discounters especially for an Amouage.

zelelipe

This is very unique and exquisite. It has a spicy coca cola opening which is deep and rich but also soft and powdery. I am not a huge fan of powder in perfumes but here it adds a needed gentleness and femininity. Initially it reminds me of baby powder, coca cola and incense with a touch of pepper. I get the vanilla and benzoin shortly after opening.

I'm really excited to keep trying and wearing this one. Can't decide if it's a like or a love yet but I can imagine this being perfect for pretty much any occasion and climate. It is sexy enough to wear on a date but subdued enough for the office or a formal meeting. It's cozy enough to wear at home but dressy enough to wear on a night out.

I completely understand the comparisons to Opium but to me this doesn't exactly smell the same, although it is for sure in the same vibe. If you like Opium you will probably like this too.

It's a mature fragrance, definitely not for a younger audience but I would say it is unisex, although it does lean feminine because of the powder. I can't actually smell the castoreum but the scent has an animalic quality and develops in a way that morphs with your skin to become one and makes you want to keep sniffing so I'm getting a pheromone-y vibe.

It is not a skin scent and definitely projects, however it has a gentle silliage and if somebody got up close to you they may wonder whether you were actually wearing perfume or if that was just your natural scent.

Very intrigued by Fate so far and I will come back to update as I wear it more. It was hard to find it in stores so I have blind bought a bottle online (at a very low price) and so far I am not disappointed.

Callista25

Fate woman has a strong spicy cola undercurrent that can't help but remind you of vintage Opium. This has a more elegant and Arabian air to it, in keeping with the house style. Truly beautiful. I have never smelled another perfum that compares with vintage Opium's direct sexy vibe.

sky76sky

Amouage’s take on Opium.

It’s the 80’s. Perfumes are BIG, bold & filled with a myriad of notes. This is 80’s Opium with a heavier lean towards the chypre & laced with that Amouage incense DNA.

I love vintage Opium so I find this to be a very pleasant scent. It has the usual Amouage quality - good sillage & staying power. There’s the slightly crazy opener which I’ve learnt to ignore until the full scent emerges. The notes are exceptionally well blended but I find a sappy, green floral (narcissus?) a bit irritating.

All in all another lovely Amouage scent. If you like 80s powerhouse orientals with a chypre edge it’s definitely worth a try.

aloara

Smells like sunscreen to me, even a little bit sour like sunscreen tends to be. Not at all spicy or earthy, no moss. I used just under half of an official sample vial but I'm not really getting anything that seems to align with the notes list or how other people describe the fragrance.

MissAnnette

I’ve seen Fate described as powdery a lot and so I wonder if there’s something wrong with my nose. I love powdery but this doesn’t smells like powdery to me. Underneath the spices (cinnamon being the most prominent) and incense, I swear I smell rose flavor booza (Arabic ice cream) it is ever so slightly syrupy. I haven’t seen a review with the same experience as me though. Anw, this has been my signature for years not that my friends associated the scent to me as I’ve never been loyal to one perfume, but if I have the choice I’d like to be recognize with Fate. I just love all the combination of notes even though I don’t recognize half of what I’m smelling.

Amouage Fate for Woman is another fragrance I've been avoiding talking about because I feel like it hasn't yet revealed its heart to me. And if you think that sounds a little melodramatic, here's a bit of the copy which refers to its: "rich floral heart intensified by a dark and destructive accord resonating with the tumultuous unknown." And as much as I love the delicious poetry of an overwrought word salad...that is not helpful. It sounds like a James Bond movie. Here is what I do know: for not being listed in the notes, I smell a goodly spike of sharp, woodsy cedar, and soon after, a dry veil of green mossy rose, wrapped in a honeyed balsamic leathery cloak lined with the smoke of a coniferous incense. It's so opulent that at times it feels like I'm wearing a costume, and it did kind of trick me into liking another rose scent, so maybe this is a spy novel double-crossing femme fatale of a fragrance.

close your eyes and imagine you awaken; transported back 1000 years into the past to a dimly illuminated cave hidden in the depths of the Babylonian empire, the inner parts of the cave seem to gleam with gold veins that swirl in and out of the jagged rock walls. The ceiling of the cave is impossibly high and glitters with stalactites of fire opal and amber, that cast impossible racing shapes over the walls, as the proud sun casts the last of his violet rays over the horizon. The floor of the cave is carpeted with piles of worn silk handwoven rugs and the cave smells of a dense sweeping incense. Thick fragrant oils that probably cost a kingdoms ransom in ruby encrusted golden flacons, miniature crystal jars hold an array of herbs and spices by a stack of ancient manuscripts as silken powdery sand softly heaps in at the mouth of the cave forming a barrier from the dangers of the ravenous desert outside. Amouage - Fate Woman.

Who would wear this ? The Queen of Sheba.

If you are looking for a more affordable alternative Molinard-Habanita is very similar, I own both and the expensive spicy powdery drydown is about 85% identical.

brokesta911

Amouage Fate (2013) - oriental chypre #dorotheepiot creates an old-school chypre of the 80s. Rich, opulent, yet well-built. What you smell would be High-quality Incense, Cinnamon, Vanillic Benzoin, spicy Peppers supported by a backbone of florals, Leather, Oakmoss and Patchouli. What I enjoy the most would be how it whiffs around you the whole day showing multiple facets of your fate.

emerson10

To me this scent smells like an grand cathedral on Christmas (or what I, a Jewish person who has never been to a cathedral of Christmas, imagine they would smell like).

It's an incense with a forest aspect to it - honestly it smells like anise to me (like something piney, resinous and licorice combined). It smells more like a candle to me over a body fragrance and I go back on forth on whether I dislike it or am just completely intrigued. Frankly, it's a bit of both.

It's holy, in the most rudimentary way.

WHO I PICTURE THIS ON:
The pope.

theLady

Smells like perfumey baby powder. Pleasant, but do I need it? Hmmmm.
I can see the reference to Shalimar, but less so to Opium.

mirrorghost

right off i smell incense, resins and cinnamon with a hint of animalic notes. then maybe a hint of pimento? there's something slightly astringent and spicy so that must be it. it's primarily labdanum, incense, castoreum and cinnamon to my nose. i smell a hint of something floral that is not very strong and also not really recognizable as any specific floral. it dries down to a gorgeous spicy incense. can't wait to try this again in cooler weather.

sakura28

Been hunting for an amouage to add to my collection. Decided to sample this in a decant and another one.
Unfortunately on me this is fancy baby powder.. I dislike powdery scents, but nothing really indicated that it was powdery in the pyramid or description. I also had two friends sniff this off my wrist with no context, and they both said it smells just like baby powder. After it dries down, the powder does get a bit calmer and it does get a little more spicey and less baby, but still more like a body powder with spice. Smells quite pleasant maybe just not on me, I personally just can't get over the strong powdery opening since I'm just not into powder at all. If you like more vintage leaning powdery scents with a hint of spice you might like this one. I do appreciate this and it does smell very classy and feminine. Just not quite into powdery notes yet personally, but it was nice and I will test again in the future to see.
Update: it's been a month since I first sampled this, and I'm revisiting it because something about it makes me come back. I get more of the spicey notes and though it is still a bit powdery for my taste, I get a more sexy vibe to this now instead of just powder. I not sure why but it's made an impression on me and I keep thinking about it. Will review again later when my nose matures a bit more.

With a name like Fate, I was expected to be blown away. Unfortunately, I was not. However I will say that maybe this works well on other people's skin better, but on mine it just turns soapy and smells like baby powder. The smell was also faint, which was weird because I have eau de toilettes smell stronger omg. Portrayal remains the best Amouage Woman scent.

karrygardner1958

Rarely do I find a perfume that I bought because I liked it in the store, but having got it home, I find it’s absolutely horrible .
I cannot describe the scent other than it reminds me of old sticking plasters , the ones that the school nurse put on your knee when you fell over in the playground. I didn’t like that smell any better 55 years ago .

Some perfumes smell better as they develop , this one gets worse to the point where I just want to bin it but £240.00 later ; yes, idiot that I am, I bought the 100 ml ,so convinced that it was “ for me “ - it isn’t .
It’s a chypre , beyond that , I can’t tell what else it is - mothballs steeped in rubbing alcohol with a bit of dead pigeon thrown in for good measure ! Dirty nappies ? Hmm, I’ve got three grownup kids but do not crave the scent of dirty nappies , although they’re preferable to this LOL.

I really keep meaning to eBay this , but the bottle keeps smiling at me from my perfume cupboard saying “ keep me, you will love me one day ? “ , I’m not sure I will . I think it’s been sprayed 10 times at the most . The bottle is lovely and reminds me of Estée Lauder “ Beyond Paradise “ , but the juices bear no similarity. For one, Paradise is wearable , this would deter intruders into your house , they’d need a mask !

eBay beckons - but am I parting with something that I may grow to love ?🤔🤷🏼♀️

I agree with the reviewers likening Fate Woman to a mix of Opium and Chanel. It has the warm, resinous spiciness of the former, paired with the refined floral presence of the latter. Which, frankly, sounds incredible. Unfortunately, for me there’s also a dirty baby powder smell that permeates the entire thing.

It’s worse on a swatch than it is on my skin; sourer, dirtier. On my skin, Fate is warmer and more cohesive. But I still get a distinctly dirty undertone, even then. Like a diaper pail doused in a bold floriental perfume.

I can’t shake the feeling that it’s not Fate’s dirty notes (incense and castoreum) that make it smell off for me. I’m pretty sure it’s actually how those notes combine with the red pepper and bergamot which creates that sour funk.

I don’t hate this as much as it sounds like I do. Two-thirds of it comes off smelling like a badass 80’s classic fragrance. It’s just, for me, that other third really gets in the way.

Dryasiulia

One of the most surprising postpartum life changes is a new craving for dirty powdery fragrances. Weird side effect of baby snuggles? I have no idea, but I can tell you I would’ve hated this a couple of years ago. Now I want to wrap it around me every day and take the best nap of naps.

Most of the Amouage I’ve tried have been too soapy for me….but this guy is a powdery, musky-skin-sweet amber spice blanket.

The first time I wore it I was a bit meh; it kind of smelled like every vintage oriental I’ve tried. However, I’ve now worn it 4 times back to back…which is definitely not something I do.

Note: it was super difficult to find anything about the extrait vs the edp. (Unfortunately I’ve never tried the pre magnetic cap formulation). The extrait has a slight soapiness I don’t get in the edp for the first hour or so. It’s also a tiny bit less sweet. It projects a little more and lasts much longer. The dry downs are virtually identical, extrait maintains a slight soapy element and is more robust.

brumbarche

In order to add something that hasn't been said about this perfume - its a less sweet, more opulent and balsamic version of Habanita. In fact I find Habanita a bit closer to it than Opium. It does have in common with both, but it's a more timeless and not dated.

adrienn99

Initially, it does not smell good to me, being very dry, prickly and soapy. It may as well be due to the white flowers, they tend to turn soapy on my skin. The benzoin seems a bit too much as well and Fate just feels a bit rough around the edges (due to a peppery patch) ...I get rose potpourri and soap.

But it is worth the wait... the drydown is one do die for, projects nicely, smells inviting and slighly animalistic, is sweet, is smoky and smooth ambery. Mouthwatering!

P.S nothing to do with Opium

ILikePeeps

The look of the bottle is awesome! It being compared to Jaipur Homme, and Luca giving it a 5/5 pushed me to pick it up.

Wellllll, it's not bad, don't get me wrong. Kinda starts off as how Lyric Woman (extrait) does, but with powder. I'd say this is only like.. 60% Jaipur Homme. My gf might enjoy Fate Woman more than myself. Not bad, but not quite for me.

It doesn't seem 'heavy' though, it's a kind of 'in-between' of regular and airy, leaning more towards regular. Not an opulent heavy perfume.

kayleenanncooke

Hands down the best perfume I've ever smelled. It's like youth dew and opium combined with esprit d'Oscar or l'huere bleue. Wow incredible...

Sadly the beautiful opium like opening last for 1-2 hours then you are left with l'huere bleue and Shalimar like vanilla leather powder scent for the remainder of the fragrance. It's truly beautiful but I wanted more of the herbal spice. I do love the powdery finish too but I love the spice more.

Bluebirdpsyche

Ahahahaha yes, I must undoubtedly agree that yes it does, smell like incense infused baby oil, as another reviewer wrote, but like, better. I personally love it. If the makers of Johnson and Johnson’s baby products had asked Baby Bluebird what they could have done to make their products smell better, Baby Bluebird would have exclaimed, “add incense!”

This was a blind buy, and my first Amouage Fragrance. I was mostly enthralled by the bottle ( oh what a magnificent beauty it is), so I asked some fellow Fragrantican’s on the forum if they could share their impressions of Fate with me. One of my reservations was the red chilli note ( like really!? Yes. Red chilli. I know, scary) I was assured it was “expertly done and that It lends a certain ‘fierceness’ to the composition.”— by one angel. While reading her description I saw in my mind a vision of Jean Grey/Phoenix.... later on I was reading all the Fate reviews on here, and another Fragrantican, had the same impression, that of a female superhero, such as Jean Grey/Phoenix, wearing this, and like what are the chances of seeing the same obscure reference? Right!? I mean, it’s f#cking fate! Right?! So obviously I had to get it right then and there.....

And OHMYSTARS, Fate is a WORLD-BREAKER!! I get the incense right away, a cinnamon lace and peppered jeweled veil of incense, like someone blew a slew of enchanting hypnotic incense powder in my face, transporting and elevating me right smack into the realm of celestial bodies and nuclear forges inside their core.

I find this super seductive, at least it has surely seduced me. Its all soft and creamy, animalic, intoxicating, leathery, iridescent powder and resins of benzoin and laudanum, incense and spice and everything nice vanilla and jasmine to me. I don’t get a lot of Oakmoss, just enough to ground me. This is very much a confidence booster, I get a sense of power through my veins. The distinct knowledge of the magic and life that courses through me. Fate smells like power, like elegant ethereal energy, like fuel, in a bottle. Baby Bluebird is ecstatic, and Lady Bluebird has been enthroned.

Longevity is phenomenal, almost 14 hours later and I still smell it. Drydown is a powdery, clean, resinous, sweet incense. The tshirt I wore yesterday smells as if Fate has been woven through the fabric itself. The universe has engifted me ❤️
And this indeed is a compliment getter, gotten quite a few in these last 24 hours since I received it...

zu_misha88

Oh dear, I could not get past the opening of this. Something in it that smelled like stale urine. Definitely a scrubber for me. My luck with amouage fragrances has been hit or miss :-(

jenkuma

This perfume smells like incense infused baby oil. Not necessarily unpleasant, but not a scent that I personally would want to smell like.

bintTapputi

I'm surprised. Based on the notes, I was expecting something else entirely... and the surprise is welcomed. I get a lot less incense from this and a lot more animal musk than I expected based on the notes here. There is a "incense" like smell, the kind you get from burning a few too many at once. But what composes the incense is really lost on me, I don't get any clear sense of a frankincense. The first wave of fragrance is peppery and spicy, which is quickly erased by a very powerful punch of white, powdery floral. But then all that is forgotten by a heady, heavy, overwhelming mixed animal scent. The narcissus, castoreum, and oakmoss combine to overwhelm the fragrance. There is, for me, still hints of vanilla and leather which keeps it from being all animal and still some small floral notes hanging on. It conjures my memory of Bal à Versailles, but tamed, whipped into submission. I like it, and I like it more the longer it sits on my skin. Elevating, mysterious, inviting. 8/10

If you love FATE, you probably love the BHAHRAT DARSHAN INDIAN INCENSE STICKS too. A warm, seductive, comforting, beautiful, Eastern fairy tale fragrance that puts you right away in an enchanting mood.

Starlight dunes ★★★★★

The soul and appeal of Fate seems to be about the fusion hot and cold notes. Peppery cinnamon is ever present from start to finish with tremendous intensity. The oily aspects of natural cinnamon aroma (noticeable in Potion by Dsquared2) are totally absent and the result is an embracing and warm puff of dry golden powder. It immediately recalls visuals of sand dunes, broken temples and buried golden idols. Using great quantities of cinnamon can easily lead to sharp angles and suffocating pungency but it is beautifully rounded out in Fate with a robust vanillic benzoin core enveloped by a layer of leathery animalic castoreum. Complementary to the castoreum, narcissus lends Fate a husky masculine voice that sounds its warm spicy and soapy retro tone not too far from Old Spice or Everlasting. The warm notes are all big, radiant and luminous yet elegantly diffuse without suffocation or harshness.

The brilliance of Fate, however, is not merely the sun-dried cloud of spices but a serene coolness that croons in the background. Under that opulent golden mask are incense and oakmoss, which mysteriously stay out of the desert scenery, but spin the sundial from day to night. The sand dunes are towering high albeit spared from scorch. It is the moon and the stars that cast illumination on this desert vaster than empires, the indigo of the night meets the tan of the earth. Amouage absolutely nailed with the packaging, bottle presentation and the advertisement. Oakmoss in feminines often ventures into cold-hearted territory (Cristalle, Bandit) and incense in any fragrance usually stays aloof if not cheered up with other notes (most Comme des Garcons fragrances). In Fate, much like in many of the greats, they aren’t elementally indifferent and unfeeling - even at night, memories of sun emit heat from the desert sands breathing life into them with chests rising in ardor and purpose. Passion might look like a fire in the soul, but whenever embers are dying, they’re rekindled by hurt and moments of quiet. Without the night, how would the day break? There’s been lots of comparisons between Fate and Opium. They both share a warm-cool-balsamic theme and I don’t disagree: side by side it is indeed undeniable. However, Opium is even darker, vehement and mighty erotic. Fate is airier, contemplative and most importantly, emotionally available. Fate discusses, Opium acts.

I consider Fate amongst the best of our time and a rare case where the homage is as succesful as its inspiration. Especially, considering we're comparing to Opium, this is the highest compliment one can give to a balsamic oriental. Bravo all the way!

This is a fragrant fairy tale for all seasons.

Fate by Amouage is revealed gradually shimmering and playing with its facets like an impressive diamond in the sun. For me the aroma is oriental- spicy. From it comes warmth & comfort as in an oriental fairy tale where everything embroidered with gold, glitters and sparkles. My nose mainly feels here a combination of spices, resins, incense & flower powder, even baby powder.
At one time, i bought this perfume "in blindly " and i do not regret it, because i was sure that this is my fragrant direction.
For me, Amouage Fate is an elegant festive version of the beloved Shalimar. As if in favorite Shalimar added sparkling facets and volume.

And obtained to be a Diamond.

lgsoltek

Yes there is an YSL Opium association, but then I bet any combination of cinnamon + balsams will be reminiscent of the Opium family (or should I say the Youth Dew family). It’s very different though. While Opium is a mystic fog with low visibility, Fate is radiant and iridescent just like the bottle. It’s loud but in a light way if that makes sense, as opposed to the powerful punches of Opium. It lingers in the room after you sprayed it on body two days ago. In a very reductionist manner, Fate is Opium made transparent.

How a nose evolves: <3 Once upon a time, when I first tried Fate several years ago, I literally only smelled a spiky black pepper; I felt like sneezing, felt like getting away from the overwhelming pepperiness...such a disappointment. I kept my sample and kept testing every few months, because why not?

During the past 2 years time something happened; I started to smell the other notes! Okay, maybe this wasn't so bad after all.. Until one day I decided that I had to have this Masterpiece! I've now owned a bottle for a few months and still my love for Fate keeps growing. It's such a warm, cozy, comforting blanket of incense, spices and vanilla. So rich and creamy. It's like I'm carrying around an invisible teddy bear. I wonder, how did I ever get "just pepper" from this?!

I'm not saying that this will happen with every perfume, but I now think that some fragrances need lots of time/patience for some noses to understand their true beauty. For me you could say it was "Fate" LOL ;P Also, probably my favorite bottle design/color I own.

kiraagold

Fate for Women is the queen in an urban fantasy who reads your palm with a handshake and leaves you wondering if you're going to be invited for a bedtime snack, or eaten in a stew.

Opens with cinnamon and pepper--almost itchy--then sweet incense flares with a breath of rose for an hour. Eventually the most gorgeous benzoin melts with vanilla into leather and lingers all night.

madnan

To me this is unisex, the sweet heavenly spices makes it so. Non-synthetic, Deep and rich, pure magic. You can keep smelling for long time it doesn't bother nose in any negative way.
Longevity is 16+ hrs on cloths. Silage is also good, you don't have to put nose to skin to smell this after several hrs, it lets you know its there.
And this all magic happens with just 2 sprays.

Zentocs

Ohhh God! This is a masterpiece, IMO the essenze of the Amouage perfums. Big-big LOVE!!! Sweet spicy scent- I'm shore that you will be a Queen with it!

MKK_Lover

Hello everyone,

I have read a lot of reviews mentioning a similarity with Opium and Organza Indecence. Since I already have both, I was wondering if this would be a safe blind buy, and if it's not too similar to be worth buying.(Ok, I saw one on Ebay for a fair price, and I'm trying to justify it :-D).

Blacktundras

Is it just me? This smells SO disgusting to me, like on the level of fecal. The leather just takes on such an unpleasant feces undertone to me, which is a crazy shame because the look of the bottle is epic.

4-ho-met

A vintage Opium lover's dream come true! It is no dupe but it is VERY much in the same vein, more so than any other perfume I've sniffed, vintage or modern. It's got that same hot spice explosion, complete with exotic, dry (dry as in not sweet, like dry wine, not dried) but a bit lighter, fresher, and airier (though with the same bombastic sillage and longevity) and with just a touch of spicy soapiness. This is not your typical soapiness, I hate soapy accords usually but love this-it's like an extremely luxe niche perfumed bath soap-scented to match it's according perfume. Amouage has plenty of beautiful, complex perfumes but in my opinion this is their magnum opus. Just incredible, a true "modern vintage" that, while obviously hugely influenced by Opium, is completely it's own scent-there's nothing else like it, no dupes-not even close. The soapiness here lends a special quality that Opium does not have, it makes it suitable for more casual wear as well as formal. Just gorgeous.

Second review:
I was fragrantica-surfing,just looking around different perfume pages to read reviews.came to this page by mistake and was surprised to see Boucheron Jaipur Pour Homme and Opium Parfum, two fragrances that I adore, are chosen as the most similar fragrances to Amouage Fate, which was in my dislike list.this made me want to try Amouage Fate again, two years and three months after my previous test
I feel like I'm going crazy but I LOVE it!!! and I don't mean just a simple like!I love it so much that I can say it's going to be among my top favourites from now on.if one day I decide to stop collecting perfumes, this could be my fall and winter signature. I remembered it as a dirty dry mess, shame on my immature nose,it's heavenly.a warm and smooth oriental, spicy, musky, smokey heaven.cinnamon, vanilla and benzoin are the strongest notes on me.they blend seemlessly with incense and a warm,cashmere-like musk.yes I can still smell it's skanky undertone but it's very faint and isn't it what makes this so inviting, alive and addictive?I can pickup something like immortelle which reminds me of L de Lolita.I agree that it seems to have some good genes from some great perfumes like Opium,FM Musk Ravageur, even Shalimar.it's complicated and multi-layered but it's also so well blended that doesn't seem too much.drydown is a pure powder heaven, smooth and delicious like a hot cinnamon pie
Amouage Fate is warm, cozy, comforting yet so sexy, sophisticated, addictive, memorable, mysterious yet so familiar and nostalgic.it's heavenly.it's totally unisex IMO and can be supersexy on both men and women.longevity and sillage seem to be much better than what I remembered.rediscovering it is like meeting my soulmate.I want to bath in it's balmy, spicy opening and die for it's powdery drydown
I had decanted and gifted away 80% of it to whoever I could so now there's just 20mils or less left in it's gorgeous bottle and it's price has tripled since the time I bought it so I'm in the mood of crying right now.but at the same time I'm glad to find such a masterpiece in my own perfume shelf.I have to save to buy another bottle as I can't live without it

lisawhip

I wore a sample of this several times and loved it. I bought a bottle, and simply couldn't stand it. I don't know if it somehow turned - - but I bought it from Luckyscent, and they've been nothing but reliable-. Then I thought it might be spraying vs. dabbing, so I decanted a little. No dice. Somehow, it had changed from a sexy, spiced musk to floral urine from an unwashed person. A friend of mine loves it, so when she came over I gave her the bottle. Before I could stop her she sprayed herself generously IN MY KITCHEN, and it took several hours of open windows (in November) to get the smell out.

Musky and spicy .For evening wear too heavy for day.I think its for mature lady over 50 ...

PerfumedParrot

I’m laying in bed with ‘Imitation’ (Woman) on my right wrist and ‘Fate’ (Woman) on my left. Both opened very differently, but shared a busy and chaotic opening like an orchestra independently warming up and maybe clumsily dropping some symbols. Fate began surging with resinous sweetness, like when honey crystallises and becomes thick with YlangYlang petals stick in its golden trap. After the first half hour, both pump out smoky incense like a giant metal burner swinging above your head in a cathedral, billowing with thick clouds of incense, trying to reach the heavens with the prayer of the faithful. For a moment it was a bit too much and I wanted to tap-out as it smelt like going through an old damp, musty train tunnel. But they both calm as they mellow and settle-in to the skin.

I’ve woken up hours later to sniff both wrists again. The dry-down of Imitation and Fate is almost like they are sisters! Imitation is just a touch more powdery and aldehydy (still with the smoky incense) and Fate is slightly sweeter but more balsamic. Can anyone else notice the striking family resemblance to Imitation (Woman) and Fate (Woman)?

It’s not love, not like, but not dislike either... just intrigue.

chinook

Fate starts with a blast of cough syrup and the air in hospitals. It doesn’t get any less aggressive over time. A bitterness rises to top, alongside with powerful cinnamon. This is the second perfume I tried with pronounced cinnamon. Maybe cinnamon is not my thing. The dry down is a gentle incensed vanilla powder, which is feminine and maternal. The medicinal bitterness lingers. Fate is a femme fatale for sure. Just not sure if I ever have an occasion to wear something like that.

lindyloveslicorice

Starts out overwhelming and kind of old school mens aftershave. A few minutes later it get soft and really nice. my problem is I think I'm allergic to it as everytime I wear it my throat starts to itch and I sneeze!

Perfume_Guy

OMG! I think under the spell of this fabulous perfume "Fate by Amouage". The scent is so heavenly and unique, no other perfume smells like it. I can just close my eyes and feels like I'm being transported into a mystical realm, somewhere in the orient, a sky full of sparkly stars with warm breeze caressing your skin filled with enchanted incense & spices.... it's like a magical spell that makes you want this scent to last forever. I find this fragrance very unisex that can be enjoy both both men and women. oh I am in love with this perfume! it's pure magic!

TrixieGrace

Strong powder at first spray, not quite “baby powder”, it’s different; a trace of floral in the distance, and a brief hint of what I think is chili. After 2 hours, when I put my nose to my wrist, it’s a smoky powder, but as I walk around, I’m occasionally hit with a not very pleasant sour note. I don’t find this spicy on me at all, and I wouldn’t call it floral either. No floral notes at all on me after the beginning. Overall, on me, it’s smoky powder on the skin with the unpleasant note swirling around me. My first test of an Amouage, I have other samples on the way, looking for my spicy fragrance, this is not it for me, but I don’t care for heavy powdery scents, so take that into consideration. It doesn’t seem vintage to me, even though it’s heavy on the powder, because the powder notes are different than what I associate with “granny” scents. It’s OK for me to use the term granny, because I am one.

Violinplayah

Oh I’m in trouble! This has that dissonance that I love in perfume! It’s thick, rich, and sweet/sour. So good! Time to start saving...

quency1

It is like nothing else! It’s very mysterious like black Magic.

alittlebrittle

Fate is a conundrum. I purchased it, untested, a year ago, hoping it would become a sort of Future Opium for me—even the stunning bottle has a Luc Besson Euro Sci-Fi vibe, possibly the most gorgeous bottle of the millennium. Bottle aside, Turin related Fate’s structure to the original Opium, mentioning a minty note that the two share. I agree, as the warm accords of chilli and cinnamon are somehow cooled here, possibly tempered by the wonderful bergamot in the opening. It’s this freshness and brevity that keep Fate from being just another straight-forward oriental spice, like Cinnabar. Turin also dubbed Fate a “masterpiece”, but I don’t agree with him that often—it was really you guys and Kafkaesque who swayed me (Fate is a favourite of theirs) and so, drawn in by the siren’s song, I swallowed what turned out to be a bitter pill, by purchasing the pricey 100ml bottle.

So, you can imagine that I was fairly miffed when Fate presented itself as little more than The Powder & Castoreum Bomb on my skin. I tried and tried, and couldn’t detect a drop of incense, vanilla, woods, much less a single petal of a yellow flower. There can also be soapy/chewable vitamin c/powdered lemonade drink mix accords lurking in Fate, during the opening stages, much like the citrus shampoo/aldehydes so often present in Channel’s fragrances. Some may find this stage of development difficult to bear, especially when anticipating a spicy, incense-laced floral Oriental.

Anyway, I sold it (for less than half of what I paid for it. Weeping still) because I was mad at it.

Nonetheless, I decided to try Fate again, and surprisingly, I discovered the fragrance that everyone is raving about, from top to base. In fact, I disassembled the nearly-empty sample atomiser, greedy for those last elusive drops, not able to bear being without it while I wait for my bottle to arrive . Face-palm, indeed.

Golden, hazy light, swathes of gauzy yellow and mossy grey-green, courtesy of my beloved frilly ecru wonder, oak moss, cool puffs of cinnamon-bark incense abound...Jay-sus, I wish I’d kept that bottle, but no mind, I’ll reunite with Fate via a 50ml—even though the larger is a better deal— if only because we had a rough start. I do become anosmic to nearly every fragrance within a short period, yes, even to this heavy-hitter, but oh the few hours spent with Fate’s golden, gossamer-winged, flower-wreathed nymph.

Fate is opulent and expensive, one of those fragrances that makes me feel undeserving of it: Never have I seen an association made with Fate and a 51 year-old post-menopausal woman in threadbare combat trousers, a ratty New York Dolls T-shirt and rubber gloves, on her knees, scrubbing the mouldy tile grout. However, regardless of myriad associations with the smouldering, porcelain-skinned, raven-haired Parisian woman, if I reserved my finer fragrances for special occasions, nightlife prowling and/or manhunts, salacious liaisons in French lingerie, they’d all spoil before even a few sprays-worth were missing. I wear fragrances to feel good, to enjoy, make life a wee bit better, so I’ll wear them as and when I like..

Christopher Chong describes Fate as a “loud” fragrance, and I disagree. Fate isn’t a heavy-hitter at all on me, which is unusual for an Amouage fragrance, but I love the wafts of the various accords passing through with every movement. While it would never be deemed a skin scent, I find it to be unexpectedly smooth, and so well-blended, it’s all rounded edges and no single accord dominates here, which can make it difficult to dissect, but not to love. Still, even if Fate were truly “loud”, this wouldn’t be a bad thing—after all, we don’t covet Amouage fragrances for their simplicity or subtlety, do we.

In conclusion, if you own a bottle of Fate, and it morphs into the stinky powder demon on you, I suggest that you not only apply it with a heavier hand (the powdered, castoreum, chypre notes abound with a light spray that you walk into, the “Oriental” spices, woods, depth, abound with a heavier dose at once) keep it for awhile and try it during different seasons, weather—hell, hormonal fluctuations!—just don’t give up on it too soon, like I did. Life is too long to keep adding to the list of regrets, even if it’s a minor one, like giving up on a big, beautiful bottle of awesome.

Oh Fate..
I first tried this one in the fall in a dry climate. It was ok.. But veered off course for me in the middle to drydown.

I mistakenly took the sample with me on a trip to California in the middle of winter. When I took the cap off it resembled amouage gold with the insence and florals, and I thought it was my Gold sample ..and sprayed it liberally. I then looked down and it said Fate and I cringed.

However , Fate must be a winter Cali girl because it absolutely bloomed for me with the bergamot, narcissus and rose .The dark accord encircles the florals and the resins give it a chypre/oriental feel reminiscent of Opium, Dana Emir and Desprez Sherherazade. The spices were pungent enough to tickle the back of my throat. I do believe this can take different roads in every wearing due to climate and the amount you use. A heavy hand revealed a strong chypre spicy floral. A light spray more the powdery base notes and spices simmer in the forefront.

This is not a blind buy.. I strongly urge sample testing multiple times to get a handle on....Fate.

Fragrance -Fate for Women Amouage
Bottle from - 2015

Fate reminds me of a dangerous, unpredictable, successful and elegant business woman with a secret. It opens with a fresh and bright bergamot quickly followed by warm and spicy pepper and cinnamon, that give way to a nice bouquet of flowers a little bit touched by darkness of incense and labdanum.
Than as it lingers on the skin,it slowly moves to a little bit dissonant, smoky, animalic, sweet, balsamic, leathery and powdery blend, but with a elements of order in that little disorder.I like this one.It has some similarities to Jaipur Homme by Boucheron.

I love chypres , love orientals and I love the early Amouage scents and I blind bought 100ml of this based upon my love of Lyric and Gold - what a dreadfully expensive error on my part.

Worn it twice - eye wateringly awful stuff that smells totally medicinal, like moth balls ; like elastoplast used to smell when I was a child - like an overdose of Benzoin which is about ALL I get from Fate .

However , it did me a massive favour because it was wasting £230 on this very beautiful bottle that made me realise once and for all that if I read that a scent contained any kind of incense , it was best that I avoided it because for me , its the smell of death, funeral masses and rotting corpses .

Ugh - anyone want to swap an almost full 100ml bottle of it ( no box) , please contact me . I love all Chanel's and Hermes I'm in the UK so I cannot ship it abroad due to restrictions but if you really , really love this juice , I am sure snapping up almost 100ml for a bit of Chanel or Hermes may make all your dreams come true - would rather someone loved it than it sits staring at me reminding me of how much money it cost me !!

I love Fate but it was not an easy encounter. Like when meeting someone and knowing there’s much more out there but hard to say what and hard to grasp. Attraction towards something hard to describe. Until at one moment, for unexplained reasons or just because it’s the right moment, when everything falls into place and it all blooms at full power. The same with Fate. First encounter was difficult yet very attractive. Too much information, too many notes, all very beautiful but almost too many and almost in disorder. But this was in summer and as the weather got colder everything fell into place. Incense, lots of it, cinnamon, pepper and hot spices in a dry powdery slightly sweet mix, some flowers but only a background. One of the most intriguing and complex fragrances, with the depth, strength and power of Amouage’s main line, of which I am a big fan. Simply beautiful and brilliant, an oriental that stands way apart from other trends.

There aren't many perfumes that warrant the adjective "glorious": this is one of them.

It's honestly kind of a miracle that a perfune like this can be made and available on such a wide scale these days.

These days it seems you're always stuck in a "pick two" with niche perfumery: nice smell, huge radiance, interesting structure.

Not here: this is a breathtaking, novel take on the spicy orientals of yore, covered in a glossy, steely shine, like a futuristic puff of Chanel n°5 over Opium.

It crackles with warmth, cheer and excitement. Be warned, though: one spray of this will knock your socks off. Two might send you flying into the stratosphere.

Love it ❤

Pure magic. For me personally, Fate Woman is THE Oriental, the spicy chypre; I have never smelled anything in this genre that would be more harmonious, tasteful, vivid and memorable. Apart from my mom's Opium pure perfume that I experienced as a little girl in the eighties. However, there is no much similarity between Opium and Fate. Just the vibe - mystic, strong, corporeal, spicy, beautifully genderless. There's something that reminds me also of Youth Dew and Cinnabar, with Fate being more exotic, less Western (obviously).

The opening is a bit sharp, there's a tart leather (?) note I also get from Memoir and Interlude. However, it dissipates in half an hour, and the whole composition turns into a softer, smoother one.
I mainly feel cinnamon, vanilla and incense, with daffodil and benzoin coming back and forth.

Being a strong, spicy oriental/chypre, Fate isn't a "bomb" that wears you. It is elegant, not overdone, it does not scream. Relaxing, warm, such an antidepressant for the upcoming winter. SO GOOD.

Magnificent.

The notes and reviews had me clamoring to get my hands on this little number. Well, here I am 5 months later and I'm still confused about how I feel about this fragrance. I never grab it, however I'm hesitant to pass it on. Why? Well the dry down is GORGEOUS!!!! On me, the dry down is an ethereal mix of Opium and Vol de Nuit - just stunning!!! However, on me, the opening notes smell like "Powder" scented Glade in the bathroom - after the bathroom has been used. I never wear it because the opening is not worth that image I described - but the dry down makes me unable to pass it on....ugh.

Movement One, Fate knocks at the gate. This is not fate as in the Iliad, Odyssey or even Faust, but poignant and violent as in the battle of Antioch.

Cinnamon-chilli-pepper-incense-rose. A grotesque combination that triggers unfamiliar, forgotten memories, conflicts of joy and pain, not in tender breeze but in post-apocalyptic tsunami waves.

Imagery: the goddesses here are wicked and fickle. Forgone their routinely embroidery, at the dusk of modern days they opt for post-contemporary splatter of pigments. Vibrant, contrasting colours full of the lethal beauty of chaos.

Longlasting, bordering heavy sillage. Fate is never tender and aloof anyway.

This is an olfactory artwork that placed herself in a perpetual moment. Personally 8.5~9/10.

fyre92

Stop with the exaggeration. THIS IS CURRENT OPIUM with a flowery heart. Listening to these reviews will have everyone confused.

EDIT* I smell the most beautiful vanilla in the dry down and it really LASTS

Mohd93

When I saw the notes: Cinnamon, Vanilla, Incense and Benzoin, I though I might actually love this.

I don't hate this scent, but it's too spicy. Cinnamon is very prominent in this, not a sythetic Cinammon like 1 Million or other designer scents, it actually smells like Cinammon sticks or Cinnamon powder. I detect a lot of black pepper too.. I mean.. I love black pepper on eggs, but not on me. Incense and Benzoin are there but not as strong as Cinnamon and pepper for me, but they create a nice scent.

Like it, but wouldn't buy it, only for those who really enjoy SPICE.

Madrona

This one didn't work for me. Sneezy soapy spice rack and something in it makes my stomach turn. Reminds me of a hypothetical Balmain Ambre Gris Intense and it's just too much for me to handle, there's too little breathing room.

tiababy

I wanted to love this so badly. The bottle is gorgeous, the spicy fragrance is unlike anything I've tried, but it gets very soapy in a sickening way on me. It's a shame, the cinnamon, incense, and spices make for a glorious combination otherwise.

Mooniq

This one is not for my skin. Too spicy, too much incense, too much of everything in fact - on my skin. I can also detect Calvin Klein Obsession in Fate - but Obsession is pale compared to Fate.

Denna är inte för min hud. För kryddig, för mycket rökelse, för mycket av det mesta tycker jag - på min hud. Jag kan även känna igen CK Obsession i denna, men Obsession är blek i jämförelse.

NZFH

Hey there girls ... ladies, babes, wives, mistresses ...(maybe not teeny-boppers). WOMEN! If you are not wearing this... WHY ARE YOU NOT WEARING THIS!? Are you afraid to be this sexy? this glamorous? this mysterious? to make this big of a statement? are you afraid of... Fate? Or... okay, the price-tag I will understand, but any other excuse... I don't get, I just don't...

Okay rant over. I will just say this one is stunning. Wow. The opening just blew me away with its beauty. An explosion of floral light... An exotic fragrant garden bursting into life...A yellow, floral, supernova! The flowers almost have a tropical feel to me, they don't smell like ordinary roses, jasmine, narcissus... perhaps it's the citruses and spices bringing them to life and imbuing them with a special quality. (Btw the narcissus here is nothing like the one in Myths Woman - that one was dirty, raw and rough around the edges; this one is brighter, tidier, prettier).

Half an hour later, on my skin, this is a completely different animal. It's all powder, leather, and hot chilli spices, with just a trace of floralcy. Still totally beautiful though. The late drydown gets deeper, sweeter, warmer, and even sexier.

Fate Woman has almost the reverse engineering of its male counterpart. Fate Woman opens warmly and benevolently, wrapping the wearer in a cocoon of warmth and light; later on it gets a bit edgier, spikier, with the chilli and slight animalic qualities coming to the fore. Whereas Fate Man opens all harsh, biting and angry; it's only in the late drydown that Man gets a bit warmer, sweeter, and friendlier.

It's all relative though. Fate Woman overall is a much easier and smoother composition than Fate Man, with far fewer jarring elements.

I would not hesitate to recommend this amazing perfume to any woman in my life.

Cauda Pavonis

Another retro-ish offering from Amouage. Spicy (the cinnamon is pretty obvious), and powdery, with classic florals over an animalic retro base. As it dries down, there's a rubbery/soapy note that reminds me of expensive suntan lotion. Despite the spices, leather, and animalics, even some saltiness, Fate is decidedly not dirty. It reminds me of Sublime with it's grand but refined tone. Beautifully composed and clearly made with the finest of ingredients, but it reminds me so much of 80's oriental bombshells, or even retro cheapies like Chantilly that can be had for a song. On the other hand, nothing has the radiance and sheer opulence of an Amouage.

shiva-woman

This is a soft powder incense (not spicy to me). It smells quite powdery, more than what others might be suggesting. I smell vanilla and amber at the top with the incense, along with a helping of rose, and plenty of labdanum. To my nose, there is no cinnamon, and positively no narcissus, unless it's the root. I grew up with acres of narcissus, and they are a green, crunchy, fresh, bright smell. This is soft, almost "baby powder" incense vanilla rose amber. Very comforting, soothing, a little bit sexy.

Jyrhara

This is easily my favourite Amouage. I tried twelve of them from a women's sampler set, and decided to buy only two: Gold and Fate. While Gold is a timeless piece of feminine elegance and sex-appeal, Fate is a totally different kind of scent. It heavily leans towards unisex, and it acts as a sheer cocoon of warm light, a breath of spring in the middle of winter.
It' really interesting how it acts differently on people's skin, seeing the reviews. For me the most prominent notes are narcissus and chili, backed by a big dose of benzoin and light incense.
Together with Interlude, Fate is the most original Amouage I've tried, because the rest of them smell familiar, like they were developments of themes from vintage scents. Fate does not resemble anything else then... Fate.

gtabasso

It amazes me how people's noses differ. I have a nose though. There is no cinnamon in this. And, I am shocked people can't tell this is a LEATHER up front scent. This goes on LEATHER first in the top with the benzoin giving it a cumin or coumarin balsamic accord. Then, a hint of a light floral mixes in. As it dries down, it is all about the labdanum. It is ambery, not vanilla, with a hint of musk that is deep and creamy. I like this but don't LOVE it. I would not buy a full bottle. ON the dry down, it reminds me of a much less spiced SL Ambre Sultan, which I do own, love and wear.

redskyatnight

Spicy and smoky with a pine-needle thing going on. Underneath, creamy benzoin that warms up and intensifies over the hours. Occasionally I get the castoreum pretty strongly. Expertly blended and worth the price. One of my absolute favorites!

I didn't know so I'm telling everyone thatAmouage have the best little sampler kits of 12 of their 'woman' or 'man' perfumes in the form of 12 x 2ml sprays in beautiful presentation. That's 12 new and equally gorgeous edp's in one set. They're $110 Australian. I had so much fun discovering the House and I encourage all lovers of this House to get yourself one of these
Found mine on Ebay.
Would make the best Xmas gift for the perfume lover

DBF85

On my skin I can only smell lime, incense and a very faint scent of sweetened cinnamon, which to be completely honest I couldn't identify the cinnamon until I opened this page to see the notes.

It's a nice feminine perfume that doesn't try to a boss or try to prove anything.

mypersonalharmonics

Oh boy oh boy. I opened an email with advertising content, sent by our local Amouage seller.
Filled out a test that matched my perfume taste to Fate (yeay!). And now I am expected to go get my free sample.
That was the best incoming mail I've had for some time!!!
I'll be back with my review. Only problem is, if I like it TOO much, my regular cheaper perfumes will feel like trash, aahaha. Oh, I'll wait and see if Amouage is worth the hype.

this product is appropriate for cold weather.
I have found this product so lovable.
It is a feminine perfume.
i love it

Received this today and I should confess this was a very risky blindbuy,I thought this may be too much sharp, spicy, too much Arabic or too mature for me
It's a complex scent and not easy to expalin,to simplify it lets say It's a spicy,smokey vanilla/benzoin scent with a leathery,earthy base
I'm not a fan of opening part,I can get lots of spices, albeit it's not that sharp or irritating as it seems,I can get cinnamon, pepper and incense and this has a very masculine vibe..after couple of minutes I can smell a very lovely scent, there is a touch of florals, not that much to put finger on a specific floral note, just a soft gorgeous floral, more important than this, some vanilla/benzoin appears as a miracle and turns that masculine spicyness to a soft, delicately sweet, almost delicious feminine scent with a spicy, smokey twist..vanilla/benzoin saves Amouage fate and rounds all edges very artistically..this middle phase is not very sweet, edible whatsoever,it reminds me xerjoff bouquet ideal with softer, more powdery vanilla and more cinnamon
I was happy to find this wearable and cozy fragrance but unfortunately I hate the drydown,I can still smell cinnamon and smokey vanilla, but there are also leathery, earthy and animalic elements added to the blend and ruin it for me,I'd rather say this smells dirty and not use other words for describing it.I mostly blame castoreum here since I believe adding a soft leather or suede could add to cinnamony, smokey vanilla's elegance but this is a dirty mess here, maybe I should blame my own skin
I'll give it more tries because I really like the middle phase..I believe this can easily pass as unisex
It's a cold weather fragrance and not as powerful as I've expected..ofcourse longevity is very good but I have cheaper ones with more staying power, sillage is more than moderate but not too much,I think it's good in this case and prevents it from being overwhelming
Something to add,I love the bottle

Okay, I'm going to tell you all what I do in the privacy of my bedroom! No, this is not a dirty story!
When I REALLY LOVE a perfume, you know the ones that can almost bring you to tears because they are so 'gratifying'? The ones that make you want to just drop to your knees when you spray them? Yeah those ones!!!
Fate has that affect on me.
At night, when I go to bed, I apply my nightly 'soother' perfume and jump into bed, put the covers over my head and make a little tent to inhale the scent and then drift away to wherever it takes me! :))
Does anybody else do that?
Or, after applying your perfume, stand above your ducted heating vent ( if you have one ) and 'breathe' the fragrance in! Lol! :)

on the noze

Not wanting to only state how much I love this perfume, this is my little contribution to those reading this.
I have only ever had and tried one Amouage perfume, Myths Woman which I am 'fond' of, I didn't know where to start with the House and which fragrance to try first, because they all tent to get their fair share of hype, so I purchased a sampler set of 12 of Amouages best fragrances for women. (they have them for men too)
Well, am I pleased I did? Absolutely pleased! 12 x 2ml vials in a luxury box. Beautifully presented and a fantastic gift idea.
These sets are very affordable at around $100AUD.
The 1st one I tried after receiving it today was Fate, only 2 small spritzes and I'm in frag heaven. Not wanting to spray again like with most perfumes and not even wanting to sample the next yet because this is just so damn delightful. Unique in that it reminds me of 'nothing' which is great thing because I own about 70 'top shelf' perfumes. Its projecting beautifully on my dry skin and already I know that this is FB worthy. Thanking my lucky stars they offer both 100ml and 50ml for the 'less flush'
Lastly, as gorgeous as this is, I would strongly recommend trying before you buy. It won't be for everyone as many reviews indicate but all in all, a big YES from moi.

kateridelisle

Gorgeous fragrance of soft, mellow spices, an earthy, mossy finish enveloped in luscious vanilla. I find this an alluring and comforting scent.

margaritatee

omg i bought a bottle of this today -- after sitting on a sample for a year -- and i'm just so happy. the dry down is one of the loveliest countries i've ever travelled to. a vanilla incense castoreum cushion i will lie down and roll around on for the rest of my life.

olga.cassar

Fate is a gorgeous beauty. It performs extremely well in a very hot and humid climate, and develops nicely. On me it is never sharp or overpowering (up to 3 sprays from a sample vial), it is soft and comforting. A rare and unique scent. Try before you buy :)

najgirl

This is my favorite Amouage, and I am obsessed with Amouage! Fate is spicy, warm, sexy, classic (in a YSL Opium-kind-of-way), and very modern at the same time. I find it much more modern than classic - very modern, actually. I have never loved a perfume so much on first spritz! It's very Oriental, and bursting with cinnamon, pepper, floral notes, incense, and leather. Months ago, I ordered a women's discovery set from Luckyscent and this one really stood out. Love it!

Calvini

Where do people smell the incense!? To me it's very musky, soft/powdery, floral, and warm; like a (10-20 yrs) younger sister of Amouage Gold

eatigs

karrykins, the cut glass bottles described in the review you reference below were her grandmother's. The review said Fate Woman smelled like the box that held the grandmother's older perfumes. You wouldn't be baffled if you read carefully.

swade

Sadly, this turned into a powder bomb on me. It had several 5 star reviews on Lucky Scent and the description/notes sounded like something I'd like, but as Fate would have it... :) That being said, I didn't enjoy Fate because I don't like powdery scents. If that's what you like, this will be exactly what you're looking for.

Strange_Alchemy

First, the solid hit of incense. It smelled like a lacquered, mother of pearl inlaid box where my great grandmother kept her bottles of perfume.

I could see the cut glass had turned milky with age, and the perfume oil, all the popular balsamic florientals of yore were syrupy, concentrated, sticking to the bottom of the bottles.

The lacquer is peppered incense, pearl the hit of white flowers, followed by fine wood, devoid of sweetness (at least, on me). It surrounds like a billowy, rich blue jeweled veil. Perhaps that's why Shalimar came to mind, but this is better. It's Shalimar's more sophisticated, far more worldly older sister.

This perfume is masterfully mixed - I've never smelled anything quite like it...but it's not for me. I put a dab on before bed, and by 1 am, it had throatily yelled me awake. I ended up washing my wrist twice to totally get rid of it, which is a good thing for those who love perfumes that hum lustily right above the skin.

FINMAC

I get leather and narcissus and musk.... notes that I personally love as we had narcissi in the garden at home and it was a long awaited harbinger of Spring. The leather note does it for me, because,as the youngest of 6 growing up in 70's whose siblings came back from the Big Smoke at the weekend with their exotically infused leather jackets thrown over the backs of chairs in the kitchen...mmmmmmm Heaven....and I SO get the OPIUM reference as my sister was an avid fan of said fragrance in the late 70's, early 80's and all her leather jackets smelled EXACTLY of FATE so I was destined (excuse the pun) to adore this....it's not half bad on my skin either which helps. I also have to add, like all Amouge perfumes, the quality is second to none.

ladykarl

The drydown of fate smells of cinnamon buns, which is certainly not terrible-
but on my skin there was a pre-cursing two plus hours of being imprisoned by evil baby powder torture that made my brain want to explode from my head
To me-there are much better labdanum scents out there--
I'll stick with the one by le labo--
Though i can smell a faint bit of jasmine -I hardly detect the narcissus, except maybe that it lends to a kindof soapiness-
its hard to know what to trust, generally, with perfume reviews because its mainly a matter of taste- which is more often than not based of what we are comfortable with, or think we 'know'
Then there is Style-
and matter of Interest-perhaps how far we can push, pull, redefine and collage our own ideas, ideals and boundaries, enter into unknown territories, ect.
of course theres also politics
and history, random opinion, rebels with no real cause arguers
show-offs
(and maybe even those who just wish to throw us off track)
and of course there is also that skin chemistry stuff-
but then you think-are there not perfumes that can be made to smell good on everyone?

when this is a skin scent it eventually smells very similar to knize ten, which was perhaps an inspiration and i reckon is much better (though the top notes are more masculine )

Waltzing Matilda

Fate is a grown up feminine oriental which exhibits vibrant spice and leather . Suitable for cooler weather, yet it evokes scenes of Eastern bazaars and the desert. I get an undertone of lanolin in this one. I won't be rushing out to buy a full bottle. So far, of the few Amouage fragrances I've experienced only Beloved has really rocked my world.

margaritatee

...did i mention i was looking for a grown up vanilla? along comes Fate for women, and now i have a dilemma. a vanilla-dilemma. because while i do not like that opening -- being punched in the head by a patchouli monster or like the house of chanel got high on meth, or both -- i adore what happens next. i put a stopwatch on it, and after about 45 mins the fizzy-fizz dies away and we enter the incense zone, where dark interiors and toasty cinnamon play together; next drifting into a heavenly labdunum-vanilla phase, messed up by a touch of cat's pee – ‘cause we don't want to get too comfortable on this adventure. Chilli licking like a magic flame too, to keep us conscious. The next turn is to leather, like someone opened a valise filled with parchment and rosewood chips ... Then the last squiggle on me is towards the animal, a very clean horse maybe with sand in its hair and wind whipping its mane but still ... warm smoke and a touch of sweat. By the end i am spent with a smile on my lips, that scary beginning long-forgotten. Ugh. Fate is precisely what i want in the way of a complex vanilla, but i'm conflicted by the feeling of having to curl my toes and endure the first 45 mins every time ... so... i will stay with my decant for a while and try to figure out my feelings ... nice problem to have :)

JoeMacchiato

A huge dose of aldehyde at the front with floral backbone(Plumeria/narcissus). It projects very well. I don't get much spices tho.

cainesrose

Nothing smells like Fate. It opens sharply, with a spicy, pure sex chilli and cinnamon scent, and dries down to a gorgeous and mysterious incense. It is bold and feminine- the most sexy perfume I have ever come across. Like sweaty dancing, too many glasses of cabernet, and dirty sheets.

Pepperflower

Warning: May give heightened confidence, sexuality and desire to take over the world. It has been awhile since I was head over heels over a fragrance and then Fate comes along.

Fate makes me imagine a female super hero from a comic book such as Jean Grey/Phoenix, Black Canary, Psylocke, WonderWoman...a woman in latex and leather, a woman that's aggressive, powerful and sexy! At first spritz it confronts you with a kick of chili and cinnamon. Soon the incense, resins, pepper and florals explode in glory. As time goes on, it leans more sweeter with vanilla and more floral but can still put you in a chokehold for I can still smell a touch of leather and the resin. There is also a raw, animalic smell in fate, it must be from the patchouli or castoreum, but it is just the right amount. It last a very long time on skin, im very impressed with the longevity. When I first tested this, I received many compliments from both men and women. This is a strong yet feminine fragrance, for me this is the ultimate "femme fatal" perfume. A dynamite fragrance!

Zobeide

Perhaps it was the crisp chill in the wintery Melbourne air this morning but the florals were very subtle, very much in the background, when I tested Fate today. The spices and incense came through as bright top notes against a resinous background in the early stages, and as the day progressed the fragrance subsided into a quiet yet comfortingly warm, resinous amber. I enjoyed Fate's gentle sweetness with it's suggestion of vanilla/benzoin which to my taste is just enough to give warmth and grace to its predominant character of labdanum-edged amber. The incense is also a consistent feature but, happily, never becomes acrid.

On me Fate's projection was moderate for an hour, and then faded to a skin sent over many hours, without losing its satisfying richness & depth. Putting my nose to my arm 12 hours after the morning spritz I'm reminded of Serge Lutens' Ambre Sultan.

I think this fragrance would be divinely seductive on a man.

shushkin

I managed to obtain a sample of this and fell in love. The chili tickles my nose and really makes the fragrance "fizz". Well, thats the only way I can describe what I smell. Vibrant spiciness. The sillage is moderate and the fragrance disappeared altogether at 5-6 hours. Im tempted to buy but with a hefty price tag i would expect greater longevity.

becuille

Wow! I think I'm in love. Be warned though, this one is not for the faint of heart. The spice hits like a bomb and doesn't let up for a second.

This is probably better suited to being a night time perfume, but I'd gladly wear it during the day. It opens with a blast of peppery chili and cinnamon. I actually thought I was going to sneeze when I first tried it (thankfully I didn't!).

I was wary of the civet. It's a note I really can't stand usually and always smells like urine on my skin. But although the civet comes out in the dry down, it's actually very wearable. It's another reminder than even notes you don't usually like can work in certain perfumes, so it's always worth giving things a try.

There's a Guerlainade vibe to the dry down, but less powdery. I've found I can't really wear Shalimar (it smells like play dough on me), but in Fate, I've found a perfume with the same courage and sexiness that actually works on my skin. Shalimar with spice would probably be the best description of this.

Daffodil with it's sunny spiciness is a perfect addition.

This is so unashamedly oriental. It's spice from start to finish (i find the chili to be most prominent), but it offers lush florals and creamy vanilla as it dries down too.

Go easy with this though. One spray is enough, maybe two if you're feeling brave. It packs a very powerful punch. I got about 10 hours longevity from it.

dfirefly

Oh yes, this is the complex spicy scent I want! The peppery snap is softened by lovely wood notes, enhanced with a bit of floral. Did not last as long on me as other Amouage fragrances - only about 6 hours.

rschmidt65

Love, love, love! This is absolutely wonderful. Amouage does it again.
Looking at the notes, I have absolutely no idea how the pyramid relates to what I'm smelling. Chili pepper? Are you serious? What I'm getting is a vintage chypre with all harshness buffed away. (Some have mentioned Youth Dew and it's cola aspect. That seems about right.) For whatever reason, even though it isn't listed in the notes, I keep smelling dates, ever so slightly spiced dates that are somehow not sweet and extremely sophisticated.
The dry down is to die for.
This goes straight to the want list.
Edit: This is insanely strong. So strong my nose conks out and I can't smell anything. I've remedied that by spraying a small spritz on my shin. My nose is far enough away that it doesn't get overwhelmed but close enough that I can still smell it. It's reminding me a lot of 24 Faubourg. Not because they smell the same but because they have a similar character. Plush, powder, aldehydes and animalic. Beautiful, classic but interesting and well done. Either can be worn anywhere.

Arabian Knight

This is better than "Fate" for Men; at least it doesn't smell like curried pencil shavings.

On opening I get a powerful blast of chilli and sweet cinnamon, followed by the leathery tanginess of labdanum. The incense develops slowly, combined with a dense vanilla and a slightly indolic smelling floral or animal note (possibly jasmine and leather). It reminded me a bit of "Rien" by Etat Libre d'Orange in this phase.

Overall it's warm, dry and wintry, not especially feminine. Can't think of many scenarios where I would want to wear it in public though. It's more of a comfort scent to me.

AveParfum

Not a perfume for daily wear? I am a Leo, so bring it! I have no problem wearing luxurious perfumes for no reason at all. Fate is one of the most breathtaking perfumes I have ever smelled. It is just short of being perfectly balanced, as incense is a huge part of the whole fragrance and tips the balance in the balsamic direction.. It does not take long for the ethereal incense to cast its spell; specifically frankincense, which I smell crystal clear and in large, billowy quantities. This is Boswelia resin of excellent quality, a scent that takes me back to my Catholic upbringing. But there is also a sensual blend of dry spices that lays like a soft blanket over the scent of two lovers' soiled bed sheets. Oh, blasphemy! This is not a church perfume.

This is my second Amouage full bottle. Thinking about the price tag causes me to have stomach pains. Hurts so good!

pravda48

Wow, for being one of my first forays into Amouage, I am impressed.

First of all it's the smoothness of the blending that most impresses me.

To me it's a deep brown, warm n' vintage powdery mix of labdanum, a touch of castoreum, and cinnamon, SO well done. Spicy pepper/incense add the 2nd layer of interest with a slight sweet warmth of cinnamon. The lingering of almost-so-clean-they're-soapy narcissus flirts w/ my nose as I pull my face away from my wrist. The narcissus (& a touch of rose) are a bit too obvious beneath the powdery/sweet/spicy warmth at close range for me to really love it (it's a bit astringent in the undertone for an hour or 2 with that sinus-pinch I associate with that), but it's still a really nice vintagey dark powder scent.

Much more depth than the first time I tested it, I will never again give away an Amouage sample w/o testing at least twice!

If Opium, Coromandel and Organza Indecence had a baby, it would smell like Fate. Beautiful with great projection and longevity but for the price, if you already own these others, you can do without.

golinka

It is herbal, it is sweet, it is cinnamon and mist! Dry down is beautiful, silage is just right, but it is HEAVY and mature. There is no freshness, no revolution. Also reminds of Vietnamic balsam, very aromatic and medicinal. I do love the dry notes in it, but overly spiced opening is too much for my nose

lyciumchld

I don't know that I would have the guts to wear this in public - the opening stages are a bit mature for me, and it is Very animalic. Nonetheless, the drydown on Fate Woman is heavenly, and I have no doubt that when it wears off I will crave it. Fate Woman is incense and animal sex in a bottle.

This is a fragrance for nighttime. It is fireplaces and champagne, strawberries and creme, violet candies, old books, ornate tables, velvet blankets, unlaced corsets, embroidered chaise lounges, crystal chandeliers, seductive music, furs, and absinthe or opium. Mysterious, languorous, old-world hedonism at its best.

StopHammertime

I put this on after showering. My boyfriend said I smelled like a burrito. There ya go, folks.

majestic mammy

this was the one Amouage I put off for a long time. Recently I have been trying my sample and it is the scent of seduction. Very superior and elegant. It seems to be adorned by gentleman complimenting it and children less so. Very much an adult R rated parfum. it is ecstasy.

I pick up smoke and Castoreum in the opening, on my skin. I find this to be a evening or date parfum. If Gold is a morning bright maiden this is the evening mistress.

Its a bit sexual in scent and oddly at the same time extremely elegant. A gentle rose and the best vanilla on the planet.
Fate is not my favorite of Amouage. However if you ever need to step it up a dial in the love department this is hypnotizing. Not for the innocent.

hippiechick13

It's kind of unreal how they have blended the chilli and the cinnamon... it's just fantastic. But again, more a smell for a high end hotel suite, or at home. Or perhaps a very, very special occasion. I can't imagine it being anyone's every day fragrance, because it takes time to experience, and it is oh so unusual.

ularewolf

Was thinking about blind-buying this then remembered I had a spray sample of it. So, it's driving me nuts, because honestly all I get is HEAVY florals with a little bit of olibanum and patchouli with a powdery feel.

The fragrance screams white floral to me, and honestly it's hard to pick out the vanilla and benzoin, which are two of my favorite notes. Castoreum? I get no animalics from this (another fave of mine), I just keep getting hit in the face with the jasmine and narcissus.

The fragrance also stays very linear to me, I thought maybe after a while the florals would calm down but they don't. I'll wear more of the sample and possibly do a review on it. The quality shows, but unfortunately my nose doesn't pick up on the extravagances that others seem to.

chickenpotpie

My first testing of this was in much colder weather, and it was very very different. I pretty much dismissed the scent and put the sample away. Then came summer. It was a totally different experience, one that I had been hoping to have in cooler weather!

Unlike its predecessor Beloved, Fate is a spicy, sweeter, and powdery affair. The spice profile, at least for me is one that is quite soft, though no less full bodied than some of the other spicy fragrances in my wardrobe.

One of the things I find with this line is though the sillage can be on the rather big side, these perfumes excel in warm/hot weather. If worn lightly (one or 2 sprays) then yes this can be worn very well in hot/humid conditions.

On me I tend to get vanilla and benzonin and narcissus first, then the peppers, all the while coasting on a on a very fluffy light talc powder, sandalwood, and musk. On cooler days I get more floral but on hot days, not so much. Its certainly not linear in any way but, some of the notes are harder to pick out. Like for instance, I have to really search for the rose. The patchouli and oakmoss are not in your face. They're pretty well mixed in and if I really search for them, they're in there.

I would guess you could consider it to be rather hazy, as the notes are not sharp in any way, but with the strong notes such as these, I don't mind having the powder cut them back a bit. It certainly makes for a much more pleasant experience.

Longevity is a bit weird though. Really hot days its a much shorter affair, about 6 hours which for the house is quite short lived. However, cooler days and it can easily last twice that long.

Full bottle worthy? In my case absolutely, but don't buy this blind. Test it first and keep an open mind about it.

nebbe

Layering with Shalimar. Getting lovely spicy, floral vanilla. Fate by herself - 5 sprays even - did not project and turned to skin scent quickly. I didn't get enough vanilla for my taste this evening, and therefore the single spray of Shalimar.
Great bedtime combo. Will repeat for sure.

ThatMakesScents

Ladies - Go directly to Fate Man. If you don't like the smell of black licorice or OUZO pass all together.

Fate Woman acted so weird on my skin I couldn't make sense of anything. There was an herbal garden smell then it blobbed up and faded away. I couldn't pick out any extraordinary notes.

The worst female composition from Amouage that I have tried.

emily7

Since most of the previous reviewers took the time and effort to evoke this beautiful fragrance, I would merely add/agree that it smells very complex and mature.
Wearing it for some time now and not being able to analyze it speaks of its complexity and adds to its mystery; wearing it continuously one will discover a new layer, new chord, new impression, day by day.

Note: under the opulence of layers, quite unawares, there a Shalimaresque soul hiding; not as a reference or a pattern I believe, more as a lucky coincidence...

day to day

I had to get used to Fate.
But once I did for a bit, I just had to buy.
It is a beautiful composition.
To be worn on very special occasions, I can not wear it every day. I really feel too insecure sometimes to wear it.
Maybe I bought it with the future in my mind.

Alex1984

Fate woman feels like an homage to the masterpieces of yesterday, a child from another era. I see from the mixed reviews that it's a love or hate fragrance, but to me it feels like a masterpiece on its own right.
Fate opens on my skin with a crisp bergamot and powdery narcissus. It feels vintage but fresh at the same time. There's an underlying darkness that gives off a certain nostalgic vibe throughout, curtesy of oakmoss, leather and vanilla.
As it unfolds, the florals become more prominent. It's all about yellow flowers on my skin, with a touch of jasmine; underneath I can feel the spicy core of Opium, pulsating on my skin with its floral spicy opulence. The leathery castoreum conjures Bandit, worn by a mysterious stranger in the night. And then comes my favorite part, the vanillic creaminess of Shalimar, with its bergamot opening and sensual musky base.
The description looks simple and quite different from your standard Amouage; and at the same time complex and beguiling. That's where true artistry lies. I was prepared to feel just meh, and frankly I was surprised by how much I enjoy Fate. It's like meeting old friends that you've lost contact with and catching glimps of perfumery's glorious past.
Fate woman is completely unisex, has a big sillage and amazing longevity. I feel it's a must try for anyone who loves vintage perfumes. I feel they've set the bar high and I'm looking forward to their next release. In my opinion it's a masterpiece and I'm slowly getting smitten by their line. Though I'm sure my wallet will argue! 5*!

mister_chaz

Very complex and mature scent, just like most of the Amouages. It's very spicy-balsamic on my skin, I definitely picked out cinnamon, vanilla and floral notes. And I just loved the sweet and powdery dry-down, coupled with soft leather and patchouli. It smells very smooth, actually; smoother than some other Amouage scents I've tried. I like it, it's very good for the winter-time.

christianne1

OMG this is love at first sniff for me! It is hard for me to understand the criticism because all I am getting is something worship worthy. I adore labdanum and all things musky, oriental and vanilla so I could not possibly go wrong I guess. Add some rose, patchouli, incense and leather and I am dinging the bell because we have a winner. The combo of castoreum, labdanum and olibanum just makes this heaven to my nose. Wrist sniffer all the way. This is a total LOVE/LUST/SWOON for me!!! :D

meysamgh

I really don't know what is happening to Amouage but this one doesn't worth the money. It smells like a cheap cologne (or like others said baby powder) but extremely powerfull and last longing. I couldn't bear wearing it more than 1 hour as this is the first perfume that game me headache. I think after Amouage changed their perfumer their quality is not also the same as before.
I have heaps of Amouage's perfumes both Men and Women and I bought them even without try but I should revise that :D
By the price you pay you expect to be unique but not with this. I wish Amouage review their production line as it's not the unique one for me anymore :(

Gorgo

On my skin, this perfume initially smells like Johnson's baby powder before drying down to vanilla. Good quality vanilla, but that's all I get.

It has huge sillage and incredible longevity.

I wanted to love this scent, but I just can't.

Maodo

AnyaZ, i totally agree with you. Too loud, too sharp, and unfortunately it gives me a headache :-(

AnyaZ

Intense, Indian bazaar.
This one is not for me, as it is just too penetrating and incense-like. The quality comes through in a more rounded dry-down, but this one is loud and gives me a bit of a headache. Back to more natural wood and green scents for me...

PricklyAndHot

On my skin most of all I feel the mostly labdanum, also vanilla bean, jasmine, leather and castoreum notes in this fragrance. Pleasant enough.

I like this fragrance. But I can't say that I'm impressed.

For that moment it's the only fragrance that I like somehow by this brand.

WendyMH

So... in all honesty I wanted to NOT like this scent. I already have too many expensive habits and despite the GORGEOUS bottle I just wanted to be able to tick this off my list of things I've experienced, but don't really do it for me.

My first sniff was interested. It's unusual... I like unusual. It was hard to place any of the notes, but I was certainly picking up the chili pepper. A hot smell, a burning in the back of my nose and throat. And then it mellowed out a bit and I really liked it. It smelled like smoky leather, but not quite... so hard to put a finger on.

About 30 minutes later it became musty and a strong scent of urine came through, though the chili pepper remained. Very animalic. Also a bit too much vintage powder, little old lady for me. But I didn't scrub it off.

After another 30 minutes it was all come hither mystery again. She's seductive, this one. So I reapplied and went through the stages again with more expectant patience for those urinal notes that temporarily show up.

Drying down.... the narcissus comes forward and I start smelling the floral notes that were simply not 'visible' to my nose for the first hours. A spicy vanilla. Something mysterious and starry. I think I may have been enchanted.

Still undecided, but cannot stop smelling my wrist. And the chili note remains lodged in my nose as a reminder and open invitation to smell again, smell again...

Post Script: I really liked this defiantly mysteriously changing perfume. The drydown was DIVINE chili vanilla floral. However, there were too many moments with lingering 'undergarments that need laundering' scent, especially as the price tag is large enough to prohibit impulsive buying. Though the notes are very different, the personality of the fragrance reminded me of Penhaligon's Amaranthine. Think I will happily use up my sample, but in end live happily ever after with Amaranthine. Then again...

demby

Yourfoxiness

Fate woman was gifted to me. Firstly, I'd like to say thank you, I'm honored.

I've taken a good three wearings now, in heat, cool, and heat again. I definitely have to conclude that warmer weather favors Amouage offerings, although they are nice, rich & satisfying in winter as well.

On to Fate Woman itself. Fate begins with a conflicted opening, immediate opposition of bergamot, & chili pepper, backed by vanilla- which is disconcerting for a moment, as though one is experiencing a temperature change, or intense emotion. This simultaneously hot & cool juxtaposition is gone in about 15 minutes, and then benzoin, vanilla, cinnamon, castoreum, & soft, finished leather join together to create a warming effect not unlike the transition of an "icy hot" type of balm. (No smell in common, just the sensation.) That's why I got the goosebumps, the cool bergamot finally leaves the party! It felt for a moment as if I were in a warm climate wearing only silk, and was hit with an icy breeze! Back to the gorgeously rich heart, Fate takes a twist from the duality of what may have been, and into the realm of now, and here it becomes a scent full of warm, intense, and sensuous beauty. A memory of desert, a longing for warmth-Fate exudes this languorous warmth. It seems to play a small trick, the sillage around me will be floral, I will smell out of nowhere a beautiful jasmine & narcissus combo, but close to my wrists I can only smell the rich base notes (the ever present incense factor in most Amouage offerings gently adrift here) and the leather, always present for me. Not like Bandit, or Cuoio, something truly balmy, soft, finished & buttery, that you want to caress. I think the castoreum has an amplifying effect here to create a sense of being among luxury things or surroundings. And then that halo of divine floral flits about for just a moment, like a memory or momentary daydream which quickly evaporates. Patchouli, is here just to ground the scent, and does not become assertive as in Epic, Labdanum keeps it a bit in the narcoticly addictive and slightly forbidden category almost as in HdP Marquis De Sade's Leather & Labdanum combo. (once again just component comparison). Only in the very end do I smell any rose, or moss, and I think that this is once again, just a masterful blending, they seem to act as a team to keep this fragrance from becoming too sweet, and just overboard. That slight rose & mossy astringentness with the bit of patchouli grounds it all.

The verdict, sillage, wonderful & billowy. Almost throws out a powder nuance for a moment, but it seems to be a more multifaceted & colored lift than the "vintage talcum" style I've grown to tolerate, and sometimes enjoy. Longevity is impressive, as is the appeal of the scent & development. I love a good story, and Fate will take you on a journey, through contradictory beginnings, a rich, rewarding climax, and end in a balmy, sensuous drydown, kept preciously close. It tickles my memory & pulls my heart strings-What a great perfume should do. In fact, it reminds me a bit of the Shalimar effect, as Fate creates its own mood & journey.

Presentation is stunning. The photos don't do it justice. I feel like this is a fragrance for a woman who has both loved and lost. Not a frivolous fragrance, but contemplative and contradictory. Its truly beautiful, and I find myself craving a luxurious, languorous, cloud of it at bedtime. Which is fine with husband, who loves it, and it seemed to fascinate others who asked what it was.

Its a scent that wants several tests to open up, rather in the moody manner of the legendary Mitsouko. Give Fate a chance, & maybe you'll find love!

A quick edit, I wouldn't limit this to the Women, men who enjoy GPH2 and its warm, spicy siblings may really enjoy Fate Woman!

Once again, thank you to my generous Perfume Fairy!

Nickie

Oh boy. What a joy!

At my customary first three squirts, it was instant love. Truly. It was in danger of usurping my beloved signature scent straight off the bat. I didn't care about the detectable notes (I still don't, to be fair); all that occupied my mind were images of the intimate whispers of a lover, which Fate instantly brought to mind.

It's quiet and so very sophisticated. I've not had as strong an emotional response to a fragrance ever before. It has occupied my thoughts constantly since my maiden spritz 6 hours ago.

And then, 2 hours ago, I sniffed my wrist and, from nowhere, thought: furniture polish. What a come down! Fortunately, that reaction passed as quickly as it came! It's true, I'm at work and, while the desks aren't polished that regularly (!!), something may have transfered and mixed with the perfume. I will need to try it again at the weekend to give it a fair trial.

For now, polish references aside, Fate earns an immediate spot on my Favourite Fragrances shelf. And, who knows, after a couple more trials it may even become my signature. I'm secretly hoping it does. :-)

EDIT: I've tested Fate a further 3 times and, sadly, the furniture polish memory still lingers even when I'm not desk-bound. I maintain that it's a glorious scent, and one that I will upgrade from tester to full bottle in due course. But, as a contender for my signature scent it's fallen by the wayside despite retaining its spot on my Favourite Fragrance shelf.

Imagine that you are in a dry, tropical country. Someplace like Egypt. You wake up in the morning, put on your moisturiser and tanning lotion. You go to the beach. You spend your day sunbathing, swimming, you play with sand and water. Your skin catches sunshine. You reapply your sunbathing lotion, maybe even some oil, just to give your skin that extra glow. You swim again. You build a sand castle. And then after few hours you go back to your apartment and just before you shower you sniff your skin. And you can literally smell the sun, and the sea water, and that body lotion or oil, you smell hot sand and the unnoticeable sea breeze, you smell your sweat, or maybe that's just the sea water? That's how Fate smells like. It's incredibly warm. Very close to the skin but at the same time its got good projection. It somehow seems to be dry. I like it a lot.

It bugged me whole evening as I knew I smelled something similar to Fate. Got it: it's body, face and hair Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse OR (not a perfume, a shimmering natural body oil composed of 6 natural oils)

Update 5/7/13 - two weeks later on a hot sunny evening. Revisited Fate again as even though I liked it when I first smelled it I wasn't sure if I could fall in love with it. I definitely can! I've never smelled anything like Fate before and this scent is so unique. And it's unique in a good way. First time I tried Fate it was on a hot, damp day, when there is just too much humidity in the air and its distorts sense of smell. But on a hot sunny day this scent blooms in the best possible way. It's strong, you can definitely catch its fumes slowly reaching your nose and yet somehow it seems to melt into skin and smells so natural. I will definitely get it as my 'hot day scent' as for such a long time I couldn't find anything that I could bear on hot day. Once again applause to Amouage!

Sounds Great!!! :)
