Edition for men Angel Schlesser Homme Amber Edition from 2009 has recently received version for women with the same name, par Angel Schlesser Amber Edition II, inspired by landscapes of the East, just like the masculine edition. This fragrant duo is taking us for a journey where we explore our emotions and new aromas, while listening to magical sounds of the East and its characteristic essences.

Angel Schlesser Amber Edition II has a refined character which reminds us of classic and traditional notes of the house, leaves an impression of luxury and reflects temperament and dynamics of the Orient. Top notes will refresh you with bergamot surrounded with a bouquet of rose, jasmine, violet and lily of the valley. A heart leaves a surprising trace of saffron and carnation enriched with juicy pralines, while a base warms you up with woody accords of cedar, sandalwood, vetiver, patchouli, musk, amber and vanilla.

Ouuu , I like this perfume a lot . On first spray I got a sharp masculine scent...as it settles down it turns into a jammy rose without it being overly sweet. It is now going onto 4 hours and I can still smell it on my clothes. I ran errands and as I was walking I smelled it through my jacket and said "mmmm" this smells so good lol. A.S Oriental is almost identical to middle eastern perfumes. I can overspray this and it won't give me a headache. The notes blends very well with one another which is a plus for me !

Ferra_Verto

Lightly sweet, very spicy powdery rose-oud oriental. There's no oud in this, but the woody notes in combo with the rose are meant to evoke that effect. The praline is surprisingly gentle, lends a soft & sweet hand.
Perfect for cooler weather, around 6 hrs of strength.

This is my "it's complicated", the one I love but also can't be around it at times, an addictive toxic relationship of a fragrance. Like a lover who drives you crazy and you know it will never really work, but you can't help going back for more every now and then, Oriental Edition II has some power over me and makes me go back to its intoxicating aura again and again, and I enjoy it every time in spite of never really feeling fully comfortable wearing it and even getting occasional headaches from it.

I see this scent on a confident woman who's both a business shark and a modern day femme fatale. Oh yeah, baby, you don't wanna mess with her. Oriental Edition doesn't smell too refined, it also has that abrasive, rough quality to it which makes it come off as "predatory" and lets you know that the woman who chose it knows a thing or two about real life and could probably care less what you think about her. Personally, I've noticed I tend to feel self-conscious wearing it as I'm not sure I have enough of a presence to pull it off most of the time.

It's funny how I thought it smelled really high-end in the first few months after buying it, but now, about a year later, I inevitably get a strong nail polish remover note that lasts a good couple of hours (hence the headaches, I guess), so I can definitely see why people describe it as synthetic and a tad cheap smelling. For me, applying it with a cotton pad rather than spraying directly on my skin seems to take some of that artificial edge off. Leaves a very smooth and pleasant woody vanilla aftertaste on your skin the next day. Fairly powerful and long-lasting.

My partner has described it as both "lovely" and "strong and medicine-like" on different occasions, not the faintest idea it was the same fragrance, so I guess this one is a bit of a wild card in terms of how those around you perceive it, there's no way of predicting how this charming venomous snake will decide to behave whenever you choose to wear it. Seems to be somewhat of an aphrodisiac, too, even if it's not perfectly likeable. Like I said, it's complicated.

P.S. Wearing it today, hubby just gave me a hug and walked off to another room and started singing Arabian Nights. When asked what inspired him, he said no idea. This stuff is subliminal :D

Aromantra

A powdery gourmand oriental. Opens with a heavy dose of saffron/praline and within 10 minutes it turns into rose/amber/musk. The price was under $20 which is a good deal. I suggest you layer it with a quality oud to make it stand out.

Turquoise11

Deep, dark, rich, gorgeous. It’s addictive. I think I would enjoy this more on my Beau. I find this to be very similar to Calligraphy Rose, yet it is softer, sweeter and much easier for me to wear. I can only imagine how good this would be if a high quality oud was used. The Oud here is among the lower quality types, it was clearly created by chemicals versus woods so if unfamiliar with Agarwood (Oud) this may be a huge turn off since it’s impossible to unsmell that awfully synthetic note but once it fades out the fragrance is truly able to shine. The Rose used here smells similar to the Rose in Roses D Arabie and Nina Ricci Lextase rose absolue, it is intoxicating. This is a must have for lovers of Rosey Orientals. 4 stars

Fragaddict123

Oud rose and little saffron
That’s it nothing more
But that’s enough I believe
It’s an awesome scent for what you pay
Lasts a long time

My first impression was that Angel Schlesser "Oriental Edition II" is so very close to JM's "Velvet Rose & Oud". Given that the former was launched in 2009 and the latter in 2012, makes one wonder! However, the more I smell it, the more it becomes obvious that JM's version is much more refined and round. "Oriental Edition II" seems too harsh and abrasive (almost industrial smelling) to my nose. However, given an amazing price as well as great longevity and projection, it's a very worthy buy. I'm even considering mixing it up with "Velvet Rose & Oud" in an attempt to round the edges.

Planet_X

Rose-praline and patch perfection. This Schlesser's offering really stands out proudly as something special among so many rose&patch combo. I can get some vibes from Calligraphy Rose due to saffron and amber, but Oriental Edition II is all about rose, praline and patchouli still. It has mature, adult, complex sweetness, great projection and sillage, Middle-Eastern expensive shopping malls aroma. I love the candied aspect and brightness of the rose here, and really pleased with how memorable it is. Recommend.

hfigures

My fragrance preferences have evolved to oriental because of the performance of orientals on my skin. This works for me. The projection is very good and the longevity is great. It's a lovely bouquet of dark rose.

food.is_life

After going through a 100 ml bottle, here are my final thoughts: the oud is very noticeable and very synthetic, giving the whole composition harshness. The scent could be very beautiful and creamy, were it not for the cheap oud note. It makes it that, no matter how much you wear it, you cannot become anosmic to it, you will feel this harshness throughout the day. The price is right.

parnpipit

At first the rose and patchouli is very strong and kinda like competing and complementing each other at the same time. I know that sounds wierd. Then I smell praline that not so sweet and not too bitter, very well balance here. This driesdown to vanilla scent on my skin, the rose is taking the very back seat and I can't smell patchouli anymore. Performance is great.

food.is_life

This makes me think of TF Noir de Noir, but much more feminine and airy. It's pretty much a sweetened, light rose. Very wearable in spring also. You, as a woman, must have an edge for this fragrance to really suit you. You must be ready to have all eyes on you.

FlirtBoy

I am a man in his late 30s and I wear this proudly as well as Oriental Edition pour Homme. This one is lovely rose-praline oriental with good longevity and projection. Actually I think this could be really nice on certain dark-skin-and-hair types of women...

Oriental Edition II is finally mine!!! yay.
About my journey:
I was intrigued as this frag was compared to Armani's Rose d' Arabie which I own. I'm quite heavy handed with the latter and as much as I love it to pieces still struggling to justify its price point. Due to the price point, I have been on the lookout for a cheaper alternative to Rose d' Arabie and given my experience with roses and perfumes in general, found it hard to believe that a more reasonably priced alternative was non-existent. Searched and looked for months and ended up eyeing Oriental II. I must add that it is not easy to test this one in the UK but given it's widely available online I risked a blind-buy based on the reviews and relative low cost in case of failure.
So are they alternatives?
While I love Oriental II and not regretted buying it I must point out that to me Oriental II isn't really an alternative to Rose d' Arabie but a different aspect within the rose genre and here's why.
Oriental II appears to be a more gourmand take on roses, nearly edible and showcases primarily the praline/patchouli which is sprinkled with roses. Very gourmand, cosy, smells like an expensive exquisite desert.
In the meantime in Rose d' Arabie the star is the Rose itself with capital R and the rest of the notes ensure that this Diva has an edge.

As you may conclude from my rambling, I'll be enjoying both and probably reaching out more for Oriental II in colder days.

Bigsly

I'm not a patchouli fan, when it's really strong, but I certainly don't get too much here. Actually, at first I thought it was going to be too fruity, but then it balanced out nicely. It's in that same ballpark as Calligraphy Rose, and it's squarely unisex, IMO, for those who like these kinds of scents. I haven't gotten anything gourmand yet, but it's only been half an hour, so I'll update if anything changes. At current prices it's a great deal.

UPDATE: There wasn't much development, but it did soften up a bit. This isn't especially sweet and the florals are blended together for the most part, so it comes across to me as more of a unisex oriental than some sort of "feminine" scent. I'm definitely glad I blind bought it!

Mooniq

I do have a problem with Patchouli - that note often turn male'ish on my skin, also in this scent. It's a great scent on a man, but its not for me. worth trying.

Greensprite

Drydown on this is amazing. 24 hours later (and just about to shower it off) my arm smells of a light, milky, sugar free rose chocolate cream. Very impressive for the price. Truly a hidden gem.

Aouldfactory

Come on guys, get over yourself and drop some cash on this beauty. I wore this for Valentine's Day (Who can beat Roses and Chocolatey Praline) and it was smash hit! A bit feminine but definitely unisex enough to be pulled off by a confident man. If you want to masculine it up a bit layer it with a nice rose/oud combo like Rasasi's Dhanal Oudh Ruwah. Fantastic Frag!

ssaminn

This is a very nice cozy sweet and feminine scent. It's the mixture of a juicy extracted Iranian rose water and TM's Angel! _keep in mind that Thierry Mugler's patchoulies do have a very particular heavenly smell, so imagine typical patchouli instead of that; while we're at it, also put a hint of smokiness and chocolaty wetness there as well! -.

It's the kind of fragrance that puts me instantly at ease, and I feel I can go to bed in this happy, safe cloud. The trail that it leaves behind smells mostly of the rose note+ some complex aspects; but the closer you get, the more complicated it gets, and you can get the patchouli and sweet chocolate and amber and sandalwood. ... Oh, and vetiver! Vetiver is the lost link in a lot of sweet gourmand fragrances, and I can not get enough of it...

The sillage is more than moderate on my skin and longevity is about 6 hours with the first 3 hours being very strong. It's certainly too good of a fragrance for the price.

This is certainly a "love" for me. I personally rate this 7.5/10.

I already reviewed oriental edotion II but now that I finally purchased it and used it a couple of times,I couldn't help myself write another review
I see this as my little secret tressure and I'm really proud of myself for discovering it.I bought a 50mil bottle of it in a clearance for just 25$!!unbelivable price for such a quality.the funny point is that I'm sure if this was five times more pricey and had the name of a niche brand on it,would recieve plenty of raving reviews
In my first review I said that I thought there's oud in it and I saw it as an arabic oriental scent, which by the way I usually dislike(lancome oud bouquet and estee lauder wood mystique are among my few exceptions)
It still opens as an oudy-rosy arabic scent but a delicious one,it's opening has a lit in common with my beloved lancome oud bouquet, but after some minutes I can see there's no oud here and I can't see it as an arabic scent anymore.now I'm smelling a turkish delight!
Rose, patchouli, praline, vanilla and saffron are easily noticable here and their combination creats a delightful oriental gourmand.as it dries down this spicy, chocolatey rose patchouli combo is grounded my amber, subtle woody notes and a hint of musk;so it looses a big part of it's gourmand character and turns to a softly powderded musky, ambery rose with enough smokey woody facets to give it a darkish, seductive and mysterious vibe and balance it's delightful sweetness
Each stage of this scent,is so complex, gorgeous and well crafted that I think with myself that it can't be better than this, yet another phase arrives which is strangely even better than the previous one.I'm hooked!
It's not a vampy, too much dark rose, patchouli combo.it's dark but not serious and angry.it's naughty, sexy, attractive.definitely oriental, definitely modern at the same time and I looove it
Longevity is superb.+10 hours on skin, ages on clothes.sillage is huge at first.it's not a safe, inoffensive babe.no one can pass it without comment.each time I was asked my perfume's name by a stranger and I was happy to tell them it's a cheapie
It's great for women as it's great for men in case you like a sweet, yummy oriental rose
Highly recommended

Try this fragrance without thinking about it's price tag.let it's magic hypnotize you.let it's very well done ingredients dance with each other.then you'd see that again angel schlesser has a great surprise.a reasonably priced perfume with a niche quality
First time that I tried oriental ll first things that reached my mind were rose,chocolate,oud..it's definitely an oriental and orientals with rose, saffron and oud had been done a million times before but there's something very unique here, oriental notes are blended with delicate powdery florals and also some gourmand notes so this an oriental with a modern, feminine, gourmand twist
When I saw notes list and I saw there's no oud and no chocolate here I was shocked.praline is playing as chocolate and smokey patchouli is playing as oud.just like rose which sometimes has fruity-raspberry like-naunces..oriental 2 is a combination of sweet rose, nutty chocolate(praline)smokey patchouli, and soft powdery florals in a silky base of vanilla and creamy woods.what you have is a sweet, delicious scent with a dark, mysterious and sexy vibe.it's very smooth and velvety, complex and sophisticated, mature and rich,it's very worthy buying
Although it's a sexy feminine scent,I agree that it can also pass as unisex and it's easily wearable by a man
It's a cold weather scent and a night scent..longevity is superb.sillage is more than moderate and it leaves a gorgeous dark trail behind you
Am I going to buy a bottle for myself?
Yeap,definitely

aistionnelle

An oriental rose, based on some musks, woodsy notes and spices. Centre of the composition, rose itself is well balanced between sweetness of pralines and violet`s delicacy and some oudh. After some appliyng it seems to be patchouli not oudh. However it is a bit apothecary ingredient it is also not heavy or dirty at all, quite opposite like in Rose &Oudh by Jo Malone. Patch/oudh opening some space for deeper part of a composition, makes a perfume a bit airy and not so obvious. There is some space for secrets, meanings and emotions, even for something untold this night, as it is an evening scent. Rose here is a wild one, dark, a bit gloomy even. Not a rose from English garden. We can find some coffee accents underlined by flowers-in the final stages it somehow seems similar to L`or de Torrente. ASOE II is not a skinscent- so you should be careful with applying -and definitely longlasting composition, suitable for evening use. Ingredients are well balanced, rather natural, not overpowering or cloying.Elegant and feminine vibes ! A packaging should be considered as disadvantage rather: ugly, greenish bottle with a plastic cap.Fortunately the juice still attracts attention and really makes impression – staying not loud nor agressive but noticeably different from another well known `rose confits`.

gtabasso

I love this. It's a great blind buy and amazing for the price. It goes on strong rose on top. It is sweet and rich. It reminds me of Calligraphy Rose with a little more staying power. As it dries down the spice and woods come out but the rose stays very present.

Jenavira

Wow, this is a silky delicious velvety mix of roses, praline, oud, and musk on me. I am so lucky this is working. Cannot get over the silkiness of this scent. My best blind buy of the year.

miZZpuRRfect

Initial blast is a strong soapy but very lux rosey scent along with dark chocolate (i can t smell a sweet praline here), creamy woods and amber, nice trails of powdery violet and saffron flower, an edgy hint of carnation and a minimal just right amounth of mossy smoky patchouli. this scent has a very powdery and quite linear dark mysterious character. Very sexy i guess, but also classy elegant. Great job! From top to bottom. Love it! Smells expensiv and the bottle is a sturdy black very minimal chic jewel as the scent itself is: bold minimal chic. Amazed.

Sillage and longivity average. will not offend anyone.

Nb. After 1-2 hours it remembers me strongly to rose by pierre cardin which i used to wear back in the 80s as my signature scent, but with a modern refined twist. After 3 hours the rose is gone and the drydown remains with a beautiful soft powdery bitter chocolaty amber trail and creamy sandalwood staying very close to the skin, but it still seems projecting to the crowd around, guess because on clothes it stays forever.

jamiehammond1980

Although i am a man a found this stuff truly irresitable but saying that i own just as many perfumes as i do aftershaves or colognes as my american friends call it. This stuff is very rich and to begin with it is like someone punched you in the face with a box of rich dark chocolates and a bunch of expensive roses but once you pick yourself up again its like floating on a gorgeous cloud of sweet dark rosey musk. I really cant get enough highly recommend it as a blind buy cause if you dont like it there will always be someone who would love you for passing it on to them as a gift. Top marks 5/5 from me.

musi1701

Sehr beeindruckender Duft! Bei mir entwickelt er sich kaum, bleibt von Anfang an eine grosse, rote, gut riechende Rose mit etwas Dunklem bis zum Schluss.Aber ich liebe Ihn! Sehr langlebig.

Naji

Totally rose Oudh genre, though I don't see Oudh listed in the ingredients. Very much in the same vein as ROSES GREEDY and ROSE Oudh by MANCERA.
Will get back with more later, since I just bought it.

gryx

@garethjamesluk - you're definitely right.

luckylady

It does not smell like Fendi at all to me.
I like some other Angel Schlesser fragrances but this was a no-no for me.Cloying, too much sandalwood ,just think this one is off the mark, have to say it smelt old ladylike.sorry but hated this.

Lala2013

Apologies in advance to lovers of this fragrance!!
I bought the 100 ml bottle, a blind buy.I was positive I would really like it,,, I hate to be the bad guy but it was really not for me ( and that is being polite ), I wanted to scrub it straight away but was determined to see it through the stages.
But there were no stages, eight hours on, I found it utterly linear, which another reviewer stated.
Obviously this is just my taste and my nose, but here is why,,,I am not a fan of Sandalwood, it has to be very well blended, disguised almost, or it just smells to me ,,well, of Curry to be blunt if it is done badly !!.Rose is another note than can go either way with me, it can be beautiful and mesmerizing when fused with wonderful notes, but the wrong Rose can get that old lady effect quicker than any other, especially with the musk that this contains.Obviously if these notes are your favorites you may be interested in this
But, for me it was a horrific collision-Sandalwood,Rose and Musk.
That is all I get.Praline?! I wish..anything, I wished,,,but no, just these three.
It does not smell niche to me, it smells the opposite,
any basic Rose Sandalwood and musk oils dropped in together at home would find this result. Apologies to all the fans, but i want to be honest.

Lust87

Well, it's my first review here, so, i'm a little bit nervous... ;>
OK, i decided to start with Oriental Edition II, because lately i have some problem with fragrances - there's almost none which can make me impressed. Oriental Edition did it, i'm really happy and thankful ;>
What i adore in this fragrance is perfect balance between deep, dark rose, sweet, almost gourmand notes and bold patchouli. Besides i can smell saffron note, it's really prominent on my skin.
Second thing - i'm confused, because there's no oud note in this fragrance, but i'm definitely sure i can smell it, especially in the beginning. I don't like oud note too much, that's why the beginning is a little bit hard to stand for me, but the evolution of OE II is worthy of little pain ;>
So, strong oud note, light rose and jasmine - that's the beginning.
Next phase - prominent rose note. I really love it. It's dark, deep, elegant, maybe i should write - serious? Besides, there's a lot of saffron in this phase, and i can still smell oud, but just a little bit, it's almost pleasant ;>
The base is magical. Sweet praline note is perfectly blended with noble cedar's shade, mystical patchouli and little bit of brisk vetiver. I can't believe that the balance between sweet and patchouli-woody notes can be so perfect.
That's why Oriental Edition II is one of my favorite perfumes ;>

anna.glowacka

This is one of the most complicated perfume i've ever smelled. It opens very medicinal and smells like waiting room at the dentist. After this phase is gone something watery with green rose starts, this part is even worst for me than the first one. Here i started to cave for this gorgeous praline but still nothing. Then rose goes in the background and a bit masculine vanilla-cedar combination comes. And then...finally praline and sweet accords i've been waiting for. This took almost 3 hours for the sweetness to come and rose to disappear. At this point i get only slightly present candied rose. At the dry down it reminds me pralines with rose filling. I was very sceptic about this one couple of hours ago but now i've change my mind i really like it.
Thanks to generous fragrantica friend i had a chance to try this strange chameleon scent.

djuzz.becuzz

This one is quite complicated.
It's like a Chameleon on me...
In the opening I get mostly patchouli & dark chocolate garnished with a velvety red rose... after a few minutes it blossoms into just a deep red rose scent... after another few minutes the patchouli kicks back in again. It goes like this for about an hour or so after which it seems to settle down like a bouquet of deep red velvety roses floating on a river of melted pralines...
I love it!

If you like La Perla - J'aime la Nuit, you will most likely also like this one!

I.I

Oh, just... FANTASTIC!
I like it very much! It's a very dark, mysterious and complex scent, it is unisex but smells very charming and sofisticated on a woman!
The initial blast is very 'dark' and quite masculine, but very quickly a dusty, velvety, thick and powdery red rose comes on the surface. Lasting power is very good.
It's not a 'sweet' scent and I m not able to smell clearly any sweet notes but I smell woody notes and saffron for sure.
This is how I imagine an unusual, expensive niche perfume to be.

rolls.oud&cigar

just like loveperfumes said it smell like a expensive unisex niche, i never even look at womens perfume my friend owen a fragnance shop and he told me hey smell this i started sniffing and snifing he knows that i dont buy womens perfume after i payed him he told me by the way its a womens perfume but it smells unisex lol, but hey im inlove with it, and the longevity on my skin is 14 to 24 hrs this amazing because most colognes on my skin are maximum 8 hrs, i recommend guys to try this because it is very unisex and very mature, i havnt got any compliment on it yet but im sure i will in the future

LadyJedi

I expected much more after having read all the positive reviews on the net but, unfortunately, Oriental Edition II missed my expectations. Dark sweet rose is all I can smell on my skin. Most reviews say it could be regarded as a unisex frag but I cannot imagine a man wearing this. I wish my nose could detect the saffron but alas, woody, earthy rose is all I get. Perhaps it would smell nice in cold weather but for me it's too linear plus the staying power is just average. I'm a big fan of oriental-floral perfumes but this one is definitely not a keeper.

Scenthunter

It is dangerously intoxicating ! Feels like you cannot get enough of it but your whole self is pleading for more! Unexpected treasure..

loveperfumes

Wow! Such a pleasant discovery under the brand I never expected to find anything like that. A dark, mysterious, passionate and sensual a bit sweet oriental. Really pleasantly balanced. To let you imagine what it smells like I would say that there is some light echo of Secret Obsession (which I don't like) - but with a very right twist, and, much more than that, it is a reflection of modern patchouli tendencies (which I do like), one could trace in lots of niche like Tom Ford's.
Now I can understand the review on the scent, I've read on another site: a very worthy scent at quite an affordable price. I confirm: it does smell like an expensive niche on the unisex side, being really pleasant: I've got a few positive responses today while wearing it.
Four stars out of five.
