The Beat by Burberry is a Floral Woody Musk fragrance for women. The Beat was launched in 2008. The Beat was created by Dominique Ropion, Olivier Polge and Beatrice Piquet. Top notes are Pink Pepper, Mandarin Orange, Cardamom and Bergamot; middle notes are Tea, Iris and Bellflower; base notes are White Musk, Vetiver and Cedar.

Burberry’s The Beat for women was released in March 2008. The parfumeurs in charge of this creation are Dominique Ropion, Olivier Polge and Beatrice Piquet, who enriched this perfume with the notes of tea from Ceylon, iris, bluebell, bergamot, cardamom, pink pepper, mandarin, light musk, vetiver and cedar. This perfume has connection with music, because the perfemeurs created it on the concept of music from Kasabian’s album: Dirty Pretty Things, Razorlight, the Arctic Monkeys and The Fratellis, illustrating the mood introduced by The Beat. Baron and Bailey designed the bottle for the Beat and it respresents an enlarged version of Burberry’s checked pattern painted on a scarft, which was worn by Deyn in the commercial. The bottle has a silver-coloured cap, as well as an amulet made of suede and metal, which was an interesting novelty in Burberries decorative/fashion accessories. It is advertised by Agyness Deyn, accompanied by Fabien Baron’s marketing and David Sims’ photography. Perfume The Beat is available as 30, 50 and 75ml edp, as well as an elixir perfume in the amount of 40 ml.

I couldn't really pass up repurchasing this one; I wore this for YEARS and went through maybe three or four bottles of this, happily. It was something I put on when I didn't care to think about what I was putting on, similar to Burberry Body. And it's ridiculous--I feel the exact opposite about both of them now! They're both just so much more completely and utterly fitting for me; this was my version of a "freshie" when I didn't really wear or care for anything "fresh." A grab-and-go on the way to work, usually throwing it in my bag, even. I remember my first bottle; I was so careless back then, the little dangly white leather piece adorned with the Burberry name, it was off-white from crashing around my bag with my keys, my wallet, my everything. Nowadays, my bags have organizers and my bags have little bags. REGARDLESS, oh the memories when I smell my little 1oz bottle I just got. This stuff is going for like $200+ for a 2.5..seriously?! Anyway, I guess I see why. This could absolutely have a cult/fiendish following that I'm not aware of because I was never a part of it.

So let's see, this one reminds me most, though, of being in-the-process-of and then newly-divorced. At age 30. I can see myself literally sitting in my car on my lunch break at work, on my phone, on the apps and what-have-you, wondering how mens' minds work, and why dating is so weird and hard in 2017, and learning about how to play "the game," and really wishing that it wasn't a "game." Just thinking to myself, how these men are 36+ years old, some nearer 50, why is communication the way that it is...at my 30/their 36+?? Before I got out of my car, I'd touch up my perfume (didn't need to), make my way to my office, see the little app notification go off and think, 'Ope, can't read that for an hour or so...don't wanna look desperate, butttt I'd really like to have no notifications on my screen' lol. Ugh not a great memory, but good for a laugh, considering where I am now. It's not always, or even often a happy place, but at least it isn't DATING. Or still married!

The man I'm with now wouldn't really care for this scent either way...take it or leave it. He's the one who got rid of 200+ bottles of my prior collection during a month-long break-up, so I don't really take his opinion into consideration anymore anyway. This one will be worn sparingly, I only own it for nostalgia, but I do wish I "could" (read: can, but won't) spend $200 for the big one but...I don't know. I feel like there are others that more-fulfillingly scratch my itch for this..."vibe." It's veryyy beautiful, I didn't appreciate it before, but I was stuck in a cloud of smelling like a snack, and dress/scent to impress. It smells different to me now, probably because I actually appreciate fresher, brighter scents so much more. It's not nearly as sharp as I remember. This, to me at the time, was some god-tier pink pepper, this was what I imagined anytime I saw pink pepper listed as a note. And yeah, it's still up there. But...not the same. My nose knows so much more now. But it lasted on the back of my hand through hand washings and a long shower last night, still going strong as I climbed into bed 8 hours after cracking it open. I have to appreciate that! It always had longevity, but I was super impressed! Goes to show how weak fragrances really are getting over the years. Second place behind Burberry Brit when it comes to compliments, at least back when I worked in an office. Not surprising.

Fresh out the bottle opening gives REAL grapefruit. I hope after maceration that magic stays. Unrealated notes that combine to make the most realistic grapefruit I've ever smelled? That has Ropion written all over it 🤣. If you know his work, especially Armani code, this is a crisp fresh citrus version of that. It leans much more clean than ambre vanilla

I’ve been wanting this perfume for ages but I could never really get ahold of it , couple weeks ago I was on the savers website it’s an affordable shop/website in the uk what sells toiletries, cleaning products and more.
I sometimes buy perfumes from the website they sometimes sell discontinued fragrances and to my surprise they had a 30ml bottle in stock for £14.99 so I ordered two because fragrances like this are very hard to get ahold of and sell out fast on that website.
This is a soft feminine fragrance, on first spray I get a lot of citrus and tea with little bit of the cardamom couple minutes later you get more of the floral notes with some of the woody notes i prefer this fragrance once it’s really l dried down I’m not a huge fan of the opening , but this dried down your left with a soft floral musk what’s blended well With the woody notes the musk gives it a light fluffy feel to it. I haven’t worn it out yet but I’ve worn it at home and for bed when I wake up I can still smell it on my pyjama top so it’s pretty long lasting.

OTA Mom

Leads with tea and citrus, then melds into a floral scent. I dunno about the bands listed as inspiration, but this seems a happy upbeat crowd.

Used a bottle of "The Beat" way back and I miss it. I have a good collection of perfumes and enjoy gourmands, but still waiting for this one to be released again - without changing the formula. I should have bought it before it's discontinued.

Magnetism

@lulu7898 I’m not sure why, but Moschino Cheap and Chic kind of reminds me of The Beat, especially when sprayed on the clothes and after a dry down. I’ve been looking for a perfume similar to Cacharel Promesse for years now, but still no luck.🥺

lulu7898

Could you recommend something close to The Beat? It's getting very hard to find 😞. I apologize if this has been discussed previously.

begim

Thanks to this perfume, I may have realized that I do not like the iris flower, or at least the iris+musk blend, idk. :D I found it a bit cloying. Other than that, it is not groundbreaking, just an "ok" scent.

RetroPickle

I dont know why but on my skin this just turns cheap/plasticky/powdery? I was hoping to get a fresh tea scent but it's not as nice and pretty as I'd hoped. It kinda has cheap body spray vibes tbh. The bottle is super cute and I'm a bit disappointed but it wasn't expensive at least. Meh. Better Burberry scents out there.

Viiola

This is my absolutely favorite perfume of all time and the only bottle of perfume I used up to the last drop. The smell is absolutely amazing, fresh, and feminine. It's definitely a work of art

correspondencepersonal

This is Blake Lively's signature perfume. This perfume has a light reactive type chemical dance that happens when you spray this perfume. It has a cedar note which smells earthy and grounded. The more I have sampled this, the more I am really enjoying this perfume. The general essence of this is autumnal - there is an earthy-ness to this that is quite appealing.

This perfume has a subtle sensuality to it. It isn't an "in your face" type sexiness, but something that leads with more of an earthy, out-doors type essence. This perfume is feminine, but this could also be unisex on the right man.

This is a versatile fragrance, it could be worn for any number of occasions and events. This is office friendly, I don't find anything in this that would be perceived as being too heavy or overly bold.

The chemical dance is very similar to what happens when I have sprayed other perfumes like "Eternity Now" by Calvin Klein, Madonna's Truth or Dare "Nude", and a softer interaction than Flower Bomb's "Nectar". The closest of these to "The Beat" would be Madonna's Truth or Dare "Nude" and "Eternity Now by CK would be a lighter almost strawberry lemonade type spring/summer blend.

The cedar note in this perfume is very similar to Calvin Klein's "Beauty" - however, "Beauty" smells more spa-like and the dry down smells similar to Alien's (the original) last phases of wear.

I bought a small purse size sample of this to see how this wears with my chemistry.
This is nice, the more that I have worn it, the more I have enjoyed it.
Another great Burberry "find"!

Mariamaija Amélie

The BEST tea fragrance - ever. And discontinued 😭 I smell the wonderful tea mixed with the warm cardamom and the fresh bergamot. The musky and woody dry down is nothing less then stunning. What a genious concoction. Sometimes we discover the hidden beauty of something a little too late 😐 But I maneged to hoard three precious bottles at a horrific expensive price. They will be cherished ❤️

Sade800

The initial spray reminds me of Shalimar and then it turns into a tea scent.
The drydown is straight up talcum powder and it smells austere (on me anyway)

Longevity is excellent and you can smell it throughout the day.
It's just not for me and I'm glad I only bought a sample.

I much prefer Moschino glamour toujours for a soft powdery scent

thestranger

This a very light, versatile, fresh, casual tea scent. It’s highly inoffensive, and somehow indistinct without being generic. It’s really quite a pleasant fragrance for daytime. It doesn’t evoke any sort of extreme mood except for “ah, that’s nice”

And sometimes that’s all you want

MimesOtto

This is a nice fresh clean fruity floral, perfect for summer and spring days. I don't detect woodsy notes ..weak to moderate performance..It has grown on me, perfect tea scent, it is non offensive and refreshing during hot days!

Cristela75

I don't know how to feel about this one. It's not that I don't like the actual scent, which I find rather pleasant, it's just that whenever I try to wear this, I end up with a massive migraine and nausea. So although I want to like it, it doesn't like me.

MegWhite

To me, this smells like warmth, lipstick, cleanliness and soap. It's not very sophisticated or complicated, but I struggle to either like it or dislike it. It's just ... ok. The price is great, though.

overtsaceie

I'm a big fan of D&G light blue and this one gives me that vibe on the first impression. Because their woody scents have some similar notes before dry down powdery which are very pleasant. I'm surprised at how top citrus notes keep sharpening and spicy over time (maybe from combination with tea note) that keeps the overall smell lively and fresh. This can be a unisex fragrance especially for someone who likes a clean powdery or floral, and I think this sometimes dry down similar to Prada L' homme

Raven NessRavenous

I am a musician and found the name, “The Beat” intriguing. I saw The Beat for $15 at a drug store a few months before the Covid shut downs. Kept thinking about it but when I went back to the drug store to get it, the store had gone out of business. So when I saw it on FragranceNet, I decided to try it. I used to wear “Healing Gardens Green Tea” but it was discontinued years ago. I saw reviews comparing it to Healing Gardens. It does not smell like Healing Gardens Green Tea that I remember. I love To drink green tea and wish I could find an awesome green tea scent besides Elizabeth Arden Green Tea, which I wear and enjoy, but want to try other tea scents. I am getting a sporty powdery 90s vibe from The Beat even though it did not come out in the 90s. I agree it smells like Liz Claiborne “Curve.” Very casual every day fresh scent. This is a scent to wear with original Irish Spring soap, Dove deodorant, Jergen’s lotion, pert plus shampooed hair, and jeans and T shirts or flannel shirts washed in Tide. Even though this is the women’s version and I definitely get iris from the powder, I think a guy could make this work as well but the iris leans feminine. Imagine if Irish Spring soap was reformulated with a powder note for women. And I really enjoy Irish Spring soap even though I am a woman. That is what The Beat is. I describe this to not be a sophisticated dress up scent. If you want these notes in dressed up version, try Jennifer Lopez “Still.”

Evenfragrance

Opens very citrusy, I was surprised. Nice smelling, very fresh. Easy to like, turns clean musky in the drydown. Good staying power on paper, very very easy to wear and inoffensive, but interesting.

GeminiSky1991

I've worn Burberry The Beat ever since high school. I remember I used to read piles and piles of beauty magazines -- Seventeen, Teen Vogue, Glamour, Grown-Up Vogue, Cosmo Girl, Cosmo *ahem* Woman, etc. They were always loaded with perfume samples. I would smell dozens of them every month, and I decided to pick a perfume this way. After peeling open many an offensive sample page, I arrived at a scent I kept coming back to -- The Beat. I remember the ad with the very model Agyness Deyn looking super chic. In a sea of terrible weak florals and many pages that smelled the same, The Beat had it all-- it seemed fresh and young, feminine yet not lilting or demure. I recently learned Blake Lively was supposedly a fan (how's that for a callback to the late aughts Gossip Girl era?). The Beat was The One.

As my birthday approached, I dragged my dad up to the fragrance counter at Macy's and demanded a bottle. It smelled different on me than it did on the page, but not to its detriment. The freshness of the bergamot and orange hit me, then the fresh spiciness of the pink pepper and cardamom. The top notes eased into a purple floral base of zen tea and iris. Eventually, the woody notes take over, leaving musk and cedar. I had to have it, and it quickly became my signature scent through my junior and senior year of high school and continuing to my freshman and sophomore years of college. Everyone else seemed to be wearing Ralph Lauren Ralph, DKNY Be Delicious, Bath and Body Works Warm Vanilla Sugar, and Britney Spears' Fantasy at the time, so I felt very singular wearing this fresh/woody scent. I wore this stuff almost exclusively from 2008-2012, then switched to other frags, then largely ceased to wear perfume in my doctoral program, thinking it made me seem unserious. The Beat is the only fragrance I used an entire bottle of, and had to buy more of.

2020 has brought about a perfume and fragrance revival for me--after years of going frag-less, I've smelled hundreds of perfumes over the past few months. After almost a decade of dormancy, I brought out The Beat once more. You know how Taylor Swift sang, "I knew everything when I was young?" That's how I feel about this perfume. I can still wear this teenage fragrance as an adult, it's so good. It still doesn't smell like anything else from that era. I cant comment on the reformulations of recent years, as my two bottles are from about a decade ago. After a long break from the world of fragrance, I still find myself bopping to The Beat.

dunder988

I got this as a gift from dad, and I am beginning to like it. The initial spray is strong and pretty masculine, and it is that way for a long time, but I like it anyways. It brings me summer memories of me as a teen, these type of scents were the norm. This is not a fave or love though, it is too obnoxious to me and I wish the orange was not as strong as it is in this perfume, it is a "like" for me. I would wear this when I want to draw attention or when I know I will be out the whole day

tru4reele

This used to be my signature scent. They reformulated it years ago to be so weak and a shadow of what it once was. It used to have the best longevity and sillage. I am done with it.

MaryLouiseMargaret

This is just a wonderful perfume, very fresh, sweet, but not overpowering. I have the EDP, but since I bought it in 2020, I guess it's not the original composition. On first spray, the citrus dominates--lemon (not in the list, I know) and orange; then something a little harsh--kind of like the smell of an iris. But the drydown is terrific. Does nobody else else smell gin? I picture myself in a terraced restaurant overlooking a blue sea on a summer day. Since that's not happening anytime soon, I'll just take the Beat and the gin and tonic to my backyard. I consider it a light feminine scent, but I can see where it could also be unisex. Lasts for about 3 hours, but certainly dissipates as the time goes on.

perfumelovere

One of my friends wore this ten plus years ago when it was first launched. I found it very pleasant and noticeable. Sad that it is discontinued yet you can find four different versions of Her..... Her EDT, Her EDP, Her London Dream, Her Intense. These flankers get discontinued anyway so you can never get too attached to them. Why not just create an entirely new perfume if they don't share any qualities to the original? I'd rather have 4 unique ones that stick around than something that gets dropped after a year. I used to appreciate a EDT offering but now EDP is so light these days the EDT is basically a body spray. If this gem was still around I'd purchase a bottle.

mystify86

This smells like me, if you can say so, even I wouldnt call it my signature scent. Even I had so many perfumes in my wardrobe I end up using this most of the time, alone or layered. Easily the best layering scent I've had.

It sits close to the skin and always need to have it. It's one of the few I can wear even I had migraine, and it makes me feel cozy and happy. I always end up having compliments when I wear, especially when layered, for some reason this + Givenchy Play got me greatest compliments and 3 guys from the office
came to ask what I wear so they could buy it for their wives.

I went for a while I didn't own it and now when I have it again I never want to go without again, so I guess I need to buy few bottles. I already used 4 bottles before. Interesting thing is, that I'm more chypre/rosy/spicy/oriental/gourmand/orchid-type of woman who enjoy darker and more interesting scents and always search for something special, but there is just something in it and I just love it but can't explain why.

zina saleh

love this one so fresh and feminine for day/night use , good for office good for a date , i get so many compliments when i wear it

JamWow

I remember enjoying this fragrance years ago! It was a fresh citrusy spicy fall scent, in my opinion, and unlike the gourmand scents that I normally gravitate towards... like a tall glass of iced tea, but with a kick- so as not to be a summery kinda scent. I’ve been very hesitant to buy this anywhere because it was discontinued quite a while ago & I don’t want a bottle that has expired & turned. However, I just popped on the official US Burberry site & saw this for sale on there! Does this mean that they have rereleased it?? They wouldn’t be selling old perfume on there would they?

*EDIT*
Purchased from the Burberry site & it’s fine. I’m just a bit disappointed with it. The Beat is not the gem I thought it once was. Starts out wonderfully citrus, like fresh lemon tea, yet kinda unique with a touch of a peculiar floral note- then ends with that floral being too prominent for me & dries down to a powdery, fresh, slightly citrus, somewhat musky finish. Not bad, definitely not my favorite. Projection mild to average, staying power is ok, not great. Burberry products in general for me seem to have lost any real staying power.

Ahem.
Within the Burberry range, this is highly under-marketed. Personally, I do feel all these notes are so...at odds with each other (Tea? Iris? Vetiver? Mandarin? Musk? Bluebell?), but this perfume is a wonderful example of masterful blending!

The initial bergamot, pink pepper, mandarin, and cardamom are all lovely. Fresh and zesty! Really snaps and grabs my attention in the way only balanced citruses do.
That tea is ever-present from the get-go. It's herb-y, but the iris comes in and makes it elegant and - yes - gives a slight cosmetic scent. The bluebell is light and *pretty*. Then vetiver arrives to balance the prettiness of the bluebell, so this doesn't tip over into Uber-Sickly-Stereotypical-Feminine-Stankfest-Land.
That's a thing, okay...?

Perfumites, let me be honest with you - This is comforting enough that it feels like I've smelled this before, and...yet...I don't really have anything like this in my collection. Honestly, a worthy signature scent! I also love that its concept is inspired by music; hence, "The Beat".

*Guitar solo*

An unexpected, zesty, pretty, tea-dominant, cosmetic - yet still kinda unisex - scent from Burberry!
Repurchase-worthy.

*Dramatic final cord*

Purchased this by accident thinking it was for men. Once I realized I might have made a mistake, I hoped it was at least unisex because I like it so much. It's not unisex but I have worn it a number of times anyway because it's really nice.

menopalu

I was blown away by this scent back in the days. Its very easy to wear and people around you will not get offended by it as it lays very close to your skin.

Miruna

Definitely a tea fragrance. It has a similar vibe to Cerruti 1881, although not alike, they are both comforting, green, tea scents. This one is more crisp though.
It goes like this: if you're into tea, you'll be into it.

JSpines

I like this fragrance very much. I thought this might end up being boring and generic. It was such a pleasant surprise. A perfect daytime scent. This perfume is guaranteed not to offend anyone around you. It's light, soft and fresh. The notes are blended together nicely. On my skin it's citrusy, woody, green and aromatic. Not being a musk lover, I'm relieved that I don't get much of that on my skin. The only downfall is that the scent doesn't last long at all. It disappears before the end of the day, unlike many of my other fragrances that seem to last and last. I found my bottle on clearance for a good price and I don't regret my purchase as this perfume is not as easy to find as it once was. This fragrance also has a unisex vibe going on, making it suitable not only for women, but for men as well. I'll be reaching for this a lot during the summer months. A well rounded scent that I'm happy to have in my collection.

jytong

Burberry The Beat is a musky, pink pepper and citrus scent that exudes elegance and sophistication, albeit the scent is on the synthetic side. I prefer using this when going out at night and receive compliments when wearing it. I purchased my 1st bottle back in 2008 when it was newly released and recently repurchased a 30ml bottle for old times sake. It still works well on me! An evening scent for sure.

imoore

THE BEAT works for us looking for an inoffensive clean musk composition. This take lately was executed just as well as THE BEAT with Softly Jil Sander.

marialena888m

Fluffy orange-y pink pepper, love how it opens. The Beat is cuddly, fresh and content. Dries down to a creamy/powdery musky-floral-tea aroma with a gentle spicy-woody touch and a polite amount of sweetness, unique yet humble. Lovely musk here, it’s not soapy, sharp or detergent-like at all (I tend to not like musks in most designer fragrances). Subtle mandarin present throughout, but it gets less citrusy with time. Great for all year round, versatile without being boring, feminine and effortless. Signature scent material. I was not extremely impressed when I first wore it...but the more I reached for it, the more I appreciated it, and now I always need it in my collection. The day I actually fell in love with it was while on vacation in the tropics, it started to rain heavily one evening, and this soothing scent wafting off my skin was just magical and romantic! This is the one I go for when I want to take a break from my stronger scents, when I’m not in the mood to smell outrageous or offend anyone (I do love my heavy-hitters lol), when I don’t know what to wear, or have no time to think about fragrance. It feels like a relative to Armani Mania (the orange one), but fresh, with green tea instead of vanilla. Moderate and pleasing sillage, longevity is dependent on season/climate but it’s not bad, I get about 6 hours on average.

Kar1917

I like the smell, citrus, pink pepper and some sweetness in the dry down. But after 1 hour I can't smell it anymore. A shame. I payed only 13 euros, so glad I didn't pay more. To me it is a very soft smell and will wear it in the summer.
I have the idea that my skin eats perfumes lately. Never had this in the past.Or my nose is acting strange. I have the eau de parfum.

LP1969

I have the edt. Such a shame the tacky white plastic top spoils the overall style. Check bottle is cute with leather tie almost a win but not. Perfume itself a little chic for an uplifted rainy day. Change the top. Please!

krasinka_stst

I blind bought this 10 years ago, after smelling the Man version on a boyfriend I had at that time. The Beat for Woman has exactly the same unique vibe. Actually it smells like a simple fresh fragrance if you just sniff the bottle, but as soon as you spay it the game changes completely. This unique freshness with that warm spices and vetiver... OMG! its a masterpiece! I prefer it during winter time or cool spring/fall evenings. My one and only winter fragrance. Every single person I meet compliments it. Even strangers in the supermarket made me compliments. After spraying it in the morning, I kind a get used to it and stop smelling it 2-3 hours later. At the beginning I thought that the longevity is poor, but a colleague of me told me that the elevator I was in at 5pm (9 hours after spraying the parfum) smells so much of it, 5 minutes after I left. Can be used for any occasion - office, night out, casual evenings, just perfect for any time.

The Beat gives me that sexy, strong, independent woman feeling. I woman you just want to smell again and again and closer and closer. Expensive smelling fragrance for woman with taste.

Sometimes I layer it with Alien, if I want even more sexiness. Very appropriate for clubbing.

Layered with a leather fragrance it becomes divine. The bad thing is, that I was told it's discontinued. Hope that's not true.

I had previously written a negative review where I called this scent boring and plain, but I have changed my mind. It has grown on me and I found myself reaching for it a lot. It is a very versatile, easy-going scent. There is an underlying musty tone in it that I am finding addictive (probably the musk interacting with the cardamom?). Otherwise, it is quite a well blended composition, creamy-powdery scent, with citrus, flowers, tea, and reminds me of expensive body lotion or body milk. This ‘musty’ undertone saves it from being just another soft musky floral I think, makes it more memorable and distinctive. I still think the scent itself is pretty innocent and feminine (the bottle color reflects this well). It is not edgy like the name or marketing implies. It does smell ‘youthful’ though, like when I smell this, I imagine a sweet girl-next-door type in her 20s (but really, any age can wear this). Not particularly sophisticated, not diva, but well-rounded, comfortable and feminine (with an interesting soft-spicy touch). Longevity and sillage are both pretty moderate, nothing to shout about. I like it. I don’t know if I’ll repurchase, but I am enjoying it for now. A good one for spring, early summer, and fall, very versatile, wear it to the office, on a first date, family gatherings, brunch with the girls, etc. It’s not crisp or fresh enough for hot days, nor thick or warm enough for cold winters.

mevans

The Beat is fresh with tea and citrus but a little floral sneaks in. It's young and vibrant for casual daytime wear. With the fresh vibe, I like it for summer. Nothing terribly original but I'll enjoy the 30ml bottle I got for $20 and move on.

AMajeedQT

A lightly-fresh tea scent with a powdery, make-up-like accord.

Likeable & casual. Something you'd wear blend in & be friendly. The marketing is targeting the youth but I can see any woman of any age wearing this.

"Like" & pass.

MirageMirage

Similar to Paul Smith's Floral, which is a lot more complete and fuller.

Burberry The Beat has been my reliable go-to scent for years now! Fresh and spicy, with a tiny hint of dark sweetness underneath, and an intriguing drydown of wood and leather. Perfect for cooler weather, but works well on summer nights too. Smells amazing paired with a leather jacket.

Absolutrly delightful! It is one of the freshest perfumes! For me it is really hard to find a perfume that I love, but I am telling you, Burberry the Beat is the best! Lasts aproximatively 8 hours and the siage it is pretty good too, I really recommend it! It is fresh, a little bit sweet, it's the best you can buy!

Amanjo

Scent: this is a fresh, clean and gentle scent. The opening reminds me of one of my shampoos and smells great. It's citrusy and woody, almost nauseatingly so at some point. 6/10

Who/where/when: this scent works in every season. It's warm enough for winter and cool enough for summer. I could see someone wearing this on a beach day, for a picnic, while shopping or at work. The person who wears this is sporty, happy and easygoing, kind of mysterious, and people might just fall in love with them.

Longevity: weak to moderate.

Sillage: soft to moderate.

gtabasso

A unique and lovely fragrance with the Burberry DNA. Though not listed as a note there is lots of tonka/vanilla in here. I would call the dominant notes as tonka, tea, cardamom, citrus with some musk and light florals.

jenniferg0924

TRULY one of the most unique fragrances ever! There is absolutely no other fragrance/brand that smells like Burberry The Beat.

It is one of my absolute favorites. It is so well blended and again just unique smelling. One of my favorite notes in fragrances is pink pepper and the pink pepper you can definitely smell in this and i LOVE that about it.

If you want something unique that you can wear all seasons, all occasions, i would recommend this.

9/10 fragrance!

pamelalasalle110

Foolishly gifted myself this gift early, before I realized my husband smelled it at Macy's and thought of me as well, so I have 2 1.7oz bottles of this perfume. Great that I'm in love with the spicy wonder of this fragrance. A little goes a long way, but a lot even better. I really get the pink pepper & Iris of this scent. With a small citrus kick that I love every day, all year long. The suede tassel on this sexy little bottle is a nice classy touch along with the classic Burberry tartan print.

seaside

What little smell I get, I don't like. Thankfully, it's gone within minutes.

For reference, I do like or love the other Burberry scents that I have -- London, Brit, My Burberry Black, and to a lesser extent Body Intense.

leda_ripa

Nice fragrance. A bit classy for my taste of fresh fragrances.

Mbrock

This is a very pretty, classy tea fragrance. I like it but I already own something that is pretty close but smells better & lasts longer. All those that like this or like this but have complained that is doesnt last should try Elizabeth Ardens White Tea. It is very well made, classy, lasts & is that same tea, green, clean fragrance you get from this.

dipisor

An uplifting scent. Really fresh and spicy from the pink pepper and the cardamom and yet, it has some kind of warmth in it, maybe from the tea.
I can also detect the iris and the mandarin, which give it a bit of sweetness.
It's really perfect for day time wear in spring and summer.
Quite great longevity and sillage.

yguess

This is fun stuff! Screams summer! Big peppery opening, then it blooms. So pretty, I always associate this as a grown up loves baby soft... Nothing really smiliar other than the pink. Does anyone else smell in color? Its pretty and clean, fresh! This lasts almost a full day on me, projection is mild. I can go nose blind to this quite quickly so not an everyday scent for me. Highly recommend!

Nuitdenoel

Another win from Burberry for me! The Beat is citrus and peppery in the top notes and dries down to a lovely tea, musk, and floral combination. I am surprised there isn’t a white floral in here! I would have sworn I smell the faintest hint of jasmine. The edp and the edt share a similar opening but the drydown on the edp is far richer, which I prefer.

My only quarrel is the longevity. I get three or four hours, max, depending on the weather and it becomes very soft soon after application. I don’t mind reapplying g during the day, though. Also, the 30ml bottle is just perfect for carrying in my purse.

NixNox

This is my perfect summer fragrance. I've had this a while - it's the sort of perfume that you have on the back burner, always reliably delicious, but sometimes eclipsed by other, more punchy scents. I have often thought of this as my office and daytime staple, always loved it, but it hasn't ever been one of my absolute favourites. Enter the current heatwave... this scent has been absolutely indispensable.

There is both freshness and rich depth here, which is a combo all too rare in summer-appropriate perfumes. The ceylon tea note gives a deep, complex aroma that hangs around for a remarkably long time on my shirt, and it is this that really makes this perfume so great. Cardamom also gives a deep spice along with the pink pepper that raises this scent head and shoulders above my other 'summery' scents, like Elizabeth Arden Mediterranean or Calvin Klein Reveal.

The depth of spice and tea makes this so flexible; fresh as a long island ice tea for daytime, but rich enough to add a little mysterious je ne sais quoi to your summer evenings. The top notes are fresh and fruity with the orange and bergamot, beautiful alongside the tea note. There's an intermittent wave of the iris, which gives a slight powdery depth, just enough to add interest and complexity. The vetiver and ceder are quiet and well blended, so I don't 'hear' these notes loudly, they just hum in the background.

All in all, an impressive blend of notes that make this cool, refreshing ice tea scent an absolute must for warm weather. I have been enjoying it immensely!

Rinio

If you are poor but have good taste in life this will treat you with respect and honour. Delivers sophistication and finesse to the empty wallet bearer.

Bouquet

I LOVE this, but on me it is fresh and uplifting--bergamot, iced tea, PEAR, light florals, and musk. Pear is not even listed in the notes!!

I get a sunny yellow feminine vibe from this.

Daytime, casual, sun dress, sun glasses and sandals, going to an outdoor event or barbecuing on the patio. Lasting power is a good 3 hours.

Pivoinie

On me, this is strongly cardemom-centered from the top all to the base. The cardemom paired with tangerine gives a sweet and cosy vibe. The tea note here is more like earl grey rather than green tea - also warming and cosy. To me this is not so much a fresh citrus, but a zesty spicy comfort scent.
It took me a long time to figure out why this somehow feels familiar, and then I realized: it reminds of Venice Beach perfume, the light blue slightly curved bottle from the 90s. Not to say they are the same: The Beat is like Burberry Brit is having beachy leisure time.

gannapodolska

How similar it is to Missoni Eau De Toilette . Very good Burberry's skeleton , but in all it's all the same with Missoni. Missoni though a bit aquatic and more tropical sweet, but these are all tiny nuances .
Anybody think so?
For me it's also more colder weather fragrance. Absolutely now what I've expected after reading all possible reviews and buying it online.
Beautiful, but I have Missoni, that I almost never use.
Also, I don't feel changes in it-all straight , just some notes (woody ) disappearing gradually, leaving pleasant sweetness. Too much for hot days.

coucoupetite

The top is really green/white tea to me and thus very spring. Fresh with a little citrus. Then it turns to a sweeter scent with a touch of woody smell. The scent stays pretty long on me, for sure 5-6 hours. I like this bottle much more than I expected I would. A good surprise with a very good price tag nowadays.

greenbluegray

If you like Philosophy Amazing Grace, you might like this a lot, a more sophisticated scent in the same clean youthful floral musk style -- but stronger with an extra kick of spice. Discontinued but can be had inexpensively. It is a favorite of mine for springtime. Thanks to all of you, I am going to try out Korres Bellflower now too for some lotion and shower gel.

A friend picked it for me and sent me to go smell. I have since bought many bottles in various strengths and sizes as well as the body cream and shower gel and copycat oil. It is now an old friend.

I love the minimalist modern bottle shape, very sleek and looking a little like an abstract head and shoulders. The tiny bottle of this fits right into my suitcase so well. I have people come into my office and demand to know what I am wearing.

The name makes no sense to me, unless it it meant to evoke a heartbeat. It is certainly not loud despite its good staying power and projection due to the soft notes, nothing sharp here. I normally love floral orientals, but this works so well for me in warm weather.

alluringvixen

I loved this perfume! I could feel the scent hours after I put it on! It was a really amazing smell

Edit: I wouldn't recommend purchasing a new bottle of this anymore, its performance has changed, after 2 seconds I don't smell it anymore

Chrysolaga

Pleasant floral that seems to disappear quickly on my skin. I think there are too many better longer lasting light florals to keep this one for $29.99. Will be returning.

chrisdimple87

I just love this perfume, loud initially but slowly settles down to a soft baby powder smell on me,Ifind it very comforting and nice.i wonder how has it not garnered the attention it’s supposed to have garnered, that being said I am happy that not many wear this.i smell tea somewhere in between when I wear this!!Nauseating if you spray too much so be careful! Just the right amount does the magic-I prefer to wear this to work

Lila_Hill

Hmmmm... this fragrance is a little sweeter than I would like, kinda like bubble gum. Initial spray brings out soft musk, bergamot and tea but it fades into a bit of musky sweetness after an hour on my skin. Not impressive on my skin. I would give it 2/5. I will not repurchase this one.

lupina_haiku

I received this as a sample, and all I can say really is 'NOPE'. I tried on paper and the strength was decent, but the scent itself was gah, maybe it's the tea leaves or it seems to have a bubbly mineral smell like club soda, but something in it just threw my nose off. I came back an hour later and the same nose-scrunching effect happened although it had mellowed out but this is one scent I do not see myself enjoying.

kimee

I adore tea and citrus fragrances but I can barely smell anything on me once applied. So sad as I've heard such good things about this one.

Princess

I love this perfume! So I am mad that it does not last! 1-2 hours :(((

kati77

I have 30ml edp, in my opinion it is not tiring nor addictive.
These perfumes are interesting, unclothed. Herbal note is very well mixed with vetiver and tangerine gives such a fresh / woody scent.
Although the categories are floral-wood. There is also a cardamom. Perceptible after 12 / 15min which gives an aromatic, spicy thread. But such a small side thread.
There is an iris, little pink pepper feeling.
Lasted for up to 6/7 hours. Flacon looks classic has color and decor.
But for me, just an adventure.

Erinbath22

I love The Beat. This is just one of those loveable, universal good smells. Shot to my top 5 most grabbed-for. You can wear it anywhere and it doesn't smell over the top in any direction, but it has a warm sweet n spice fresh thing I can't explain.
This is a really cute, cozy, work-friendly, sweet but not TOO sweet, delicate scent. I have grown to love it based on its friendly and mellow likeable factor.

Sweet tea with just a little nutty flavor and dash of spice.
I need to spray on a little more of this to make it last, but then it lasts around 8 hrs. My fellow perfume lover at work wanted to know what I was wearing:)
I think the touch of cardamom and pink pepper make this special. Toward the last hours of drydown, the spice factor reminds you how great this smells. Just lovely! My family really likes this one too.
This one gives me something to smile about and smell- good confidence. A lovely and crowd-pleasing Burberry!

margarita.angelova

Very fresh and pleasant smell. Tea is the most dominant note for me followed by the bergamot. Overall it's a bit soapy but not too boring; nice everyday one for the warmer season. Fits the vibe of the Bvlgari's Tea range.

rbcahay

This used to be my favourite scent and it's what turned me on to the fresher, more citrusy perfumes out there. I love how it gives you the run of the mill fresh floral notes but cuts it with masculine lime and woody undertones. It feels "cool" to wear it.

When Burberry launched their campaign for this fragrance, they had an edgy looking model with short spiky hair to represent it. I think that describes it perfectly. Pretty with an edge.

jenbennett

The citrus in this is way too sour and BO like on my skin. To be fair I did get it at a discount store so maybe the bottle had turned. Or just doesn't go with my skin chemistry.

LydiaLiu

The Beat is a warm, gentle, well blended perfume. If I will relate it to a music, I'd rather say it's a quiet and gentle type. I don't get much of the tea which many people describe it as dominant in the opening, every notes just perfectly mixed together. All I feel about this perfume is soft and comfortable, a good choice for the intimate moments? Yes, for me!

Madrona

Anything Agyness Deyn has been the face of is bound to speak to me and this is no exception. There is a coolness about this scent without being rebellious or tryhard. It's just a bit aloof, a bit "so what". It's the type of scent that is excellently paired with minimal makeup and wet hair (and a leather jacket with nothing underneath). Unconventional.

The tea note certainly stands out, it is definitely realistic. The pink pepper in this composition just serves to potentiate the freshness and adds a bit of attitude, it does not make me nauseous. Plenty of bergamot, mandarin and a bit of spice seal the deal. It is however more sheer than this array of nose-burning in-your-face notes would suggest, airy, lots of breathing room and I think that is what prevents it from parodizing itself. I really like it, but I still have a feeling that I would not reach for it that often, I would have to be in a certain mood.

Smelling this on a guy would be awesome too, by the way.

Toronto_pro

Bergamot is what kicks in first on me. It is not overwhelming though - that's why it's safe for work, job interviews, etc. Non-offensive. Base notes are complimenting to bergamot pretty well.

Not mind-blowing, but very pleasant. Don't expect much from it.

chicagogirl

Very unique, different perfume but not in a good way. It's powdery, sweet (in a non-fruit way), and peppery/woody. There is some citrus going on in there but the powdery, sweet woody notes are the star. When I first bought this, I loved it. But then I saw a review that said it smells like a plastic doll head. That ruined this perfume for me! I could never see it the same way again! Because it really DOES smells like a powdery plastic barbie head/the barbie's hair. I just couldn't place what I was smelling until I saw that review.

lilybet11

Burberry The Beat is a pleasant perfume, but not particularly special in my opinion. Upon spraying, I could definitely pick up on the orange/bergamont/cardamom - which was nice while it lasted. After a couple of hours though, it turned into a rather straightforward tea scent on my skin. Not bad, but nothing remarkable either. It's a nice, soft scent that stays close to the skin and lasts about 8-9 hours on my skin. I would consider a safe choice for a work/school environment.

cynthiafeliana

I simply don't like it. But i like the bottle, it's cute.

Rilani

Simply wonderful. The musk grows quit overpowering on me one hour after initial spray but I dont mind. It is a beautiful representation of floral woody musk line.

Red Sin

Does anyone know where can i find this fragrance nowadays?
I think it got discontinued.. Please let me know if anyone has a clue on where this perfume is available

tasoula

I forgot to say that it is reeeaaaally loooooong laaaaasting...

tasoula

Nice, cute, safe, inoffensive, sweet, teacher friendly, all year round, go to perfume, easy going, every day perfume. Could be layered with angel I guess.I really like it.

slavka.filipova

I get this without much thinking, it's wonderful fragrance. People on work always ask me what am i wearing and i say Burberry the beat why? They all said they like this one a lot and that kind of surprised me because didn't think it is something special or people will like this so much. Now 5 people went and bough this too and mine is almost empty so i will go and repurchase too. Very long lasting on me and even in afternoons people still smell this on even if i can't. Go and check it out!!!

8/10

UnearthlyApothecary

Wow is this wonderful! I didn't expect to like this as well as I do. Refreshing, lightly sweetened, citrus tea. There is something else here that I can't quite place, I noticed someone else mentioned that as well. This actually reminds me of the healing garden's green tea therapy which I loved as a 14 yr old in the late 90's. The pepper is not very prominent to me at all, this is soft, fresh and ever so slightly resembles a masculine scent. The composition is very masculine but sweetened and softened up for a woman. Another hit from this house, I have yet to try a bad Burberry.

KmiluK

I love this. Fresh citrus burst combined with light spice at first dying down to softer citrus, bergamot and something else I can't put my finger on. Definitely a morning perfume for me. The different notes in this scent seem well balanced. Young, optimistic but complicated. Not sweet on my skin. Feminine but in an innocent way. One of my favourites.

ShroomRavioli

This is lovely, it's a scent for a young, fun woman. Definitely smells of tea and citrus.

AngelEuphoria

We own and enjoy quite a few Burberry fragrances, so I tried this, too. Sadly not for me. This one smells like lemon pepper seasoning in the drydown. The orange fragrance note does not soar above the pepper note.

Soofiya

I didn't find it sour,sharp or zesty
As a tea scents lover I liked it,a nice tea, citruses, iris, musk combination..it's refreshing, bright, clean and interesting..I like how musk adds sweetness and rounds sharpness of citrus tea and spices are a great combination to powdery iris
It's wearable in all seasons except winter,is versatile and a nice casual fragrance with moderate projection
Til now I've liked all burberry perfumes for women

EvaKmp

Very sweet and pop smell! Very poor longevity.

dayonti

ladushka

It has the vibe of the Brit but it is much more straightforward. It starts sharp very very citrusy with a hint of spice. It takes quite a while for it to calm down to sweet-sour ice tea scent. Too sweet, too sour, too citrusy, too generic for me to love it but nevertheless I find it fresh and crispy. Not bad for a " wake-up" scent but you should be a citrus fragrance lover to really appreciate this one. I would hit the "neutral" button but ok, I agree, it can be quite likeable at times. The longevity and sillage are good.

Pinksugarplum03

Has this fragrance been discontinued?

SaraSeantae

I had this as a teenager because I was in love with the marketing and the idea of pink pepper. Looking back, I see that neither actually delivered. This is an unremarkable formula: there's nothing to smell here, move along. I neither like it or dislike it...there's really nothing more to say.

Longevity was poor, sillage was overbearing.

Betsywoolbright

I love this but unfortunately the sillage seems to be very poor.
I love tea scents, any spices (cardamom!) pepper (either pink or black) and bergamot. I'm learning to like iris.
It is lovely and beautiful, but I wish it were louder.

GalInGlasses

Finally got to test this one out, and like the reviewer below, I was a bit put off at first because the opening smelled almost sour to me. I'm not totally sure what I was expecting, maybe that this would be a sweeter fragrance, but I would say it actually has a unisex, sporty feel to it. Could be the vetiver coming through? Once I reconciled my expectations with the reality of the fragrance, I quite enjoyed it. "Fresh spicy" definitely comes to mind, but the pepperiness is not so great that it would offend anyone. No single note overpowers the others so that you smell like oranges, or tea, or pink pepper, respectively. I get more of a woody, slightly spicy citrus. In fact, I would say this is a perfect office-friendly fragrance for spring and summer, maybe even fall. Sillage was moderate on me. I got a good six hours of longevity out of it before it became more of a skin scent, but I could still catch whiffs of it after that.

Jmalone84

Pleasant surprise for a blind buy. There was a hint of sourness that I initially found troubling but I enjoy this now.

Lush citrus, tea and bergamot. It is very vibrant and uplifting. The tea with the mandarin and pink pepper remind me of a citrus iced tea drink with pomegranate and a hint of sugar- thirst quenching and delicious. There is a tangy sweetness from the mandarin, an elegant coolness from the tea, and the bergamot gives it some freshness. The florals give it body, and the woods and spices make for a lovely, unexpectedly warm and embracing dry down. Just what you want on a warm summer afternoon, first refreshment, and later a warm dry down to keep you cozy as the evening gets cooler.

This is nice for certain moods/ certain weathers. For me, not for everyday. Good for working out or keeping in your bag for when you forget perfume as the bottle is quite compact, elegant and sporty (I have the 50mL). Sillage is moderate, as is longevity- it is not terribly long lasting, maybe a few hours. Solid 6.5/10.

CrystalLullaby

I really wanted to like this, as I like most of Burberry's, but this one was just soooo peppery and harsh. I wish I got from it what most of you get... I think my nose must be sensitive to pink pepper :(

samr63

Mmmmm, Chi tea!

MonikaSlovakia

In the beginning - very sweet, i feel just the basics (quite significantly) When the smell is releasing, scent is much more interesting. In my opinion: Suitable for autumn and winter, it warms.

* Zo začiatku veľmi sladká, cítiť len základ a dosť výrazne, časom keď sa vôňa uvolní je oveľa zaujmavejšia. Vhodná na jeseň a zimu, zahreje.

x-x-x-ANGEL-x-x-x

Soft, powdery and delicatey feminine. Will have to invest in a full size bottle.

aniston

Had a spray of this from a dept store and i love it! Just a quiet and comforting scent. Felt like there's little butterflies circling around you. Planning to buy since.

Kanz Oman

every time i spray this, i get the smell of lipstick or make up powder. A soft feminine fresh scent for all days.

Algernon

Bought a tester because of the reviews here - but is the tester EDT or parfum? Doesn't say. Doesn't matter. This perfume rocks. Attaches itself with an alcohol-sweet too-much-to-decipher explosion then quickly devolves into a warm yet light effervescence of beauty. What's in it? I'm no good at that. But this smells divine.

My skin chemistry eats perfume. The best perfume is useless if it doesn't last. Putting perfume on clothes or hair for longevity - not ideal. It's the way perfume melds with one's skin which makes perfume unique otherwise we may as well all use the same scent to smell the same way.

So far so good (an hour later and it smells even better!). Keep smelling my wrist and smiling. O' Happy Day!

Morgenstern

Love at first sniff.
Bought it right away. Long lasting. Perfect Summer scent. :)
I was at first worried it'll turn sour on my skin, but it did not! Got to love Burberry The Beat!

Lavender Child

This one works SO well in Spring!

It's May now and I've been wearing The Beat religiously. With the green sweetness it goes perfectly with warmer weather and windy days help with sillage. It's energizing and full of character, uplifting, with bergamot and cardamom boosting the fresh notes.

The base is lovely, quite strong and warm. It makes me look forward to putting it on the next morning.

Carah

I love all Burberry perfumes and they all smell a bit same: very expensive :)
The beat opens with a blast of citrus notes mixed up with cardamom (which could be perceived as harsh by some) and it's all very sparkly and uplifting. The heart is beautiful and sweet (not modern gag-reflex sweet, nice-sweet very expensive sweet)with this gorgeous note of iris (white iris to be precise) which stays all the way through dry down. The longevity is very good, I'd say 8 to 10 hours on skin and more than 20 on hair (but then of course it washes off during a shower). I'd recommend this scent to anyone.

pauroj

i love the beat is peppery and clean and super modern i love the bottle and most of all i love that is a skin scent , i think the ad work really sums up the kind of feeling you get when you wear this is super modern
sadly sillage is basically none existent besides that is very good friendly yet interesting fragrance

victoria.mei1992

All is about spicy mandarin orange, just biting.

chanka

Very nice.. sweet original scent..
Little bit heavy so you need one sprinkle...

Miss-Fragrance62

ce parfum ne ressemble vraiment à aucun autre parfum.Je l'aime c'est un parfum frais et doux un peu sucré je trouve et avec une tenue vraiment incroyable. Il est devenu ma signature

sylviak

An unique fragrance which is different from all other perfume I'd ever tried. It's so fresh and slightly spicy at the beginning. You can't find any tenderness, sweetness or softness in it. After about 15 minutes, it comes to incredibly cozy.
But...... why dose it remind me of a kind of tooth powder I had used (It's really weird I know.Haha !!)since there's no mint in it?

pixiewinks

Beat is strong and high quality. I think this is def a one spritz fragrance for me, two is overpowering. The orange and bergamont are really nice in the beginning but don't last long...now we have a floral/tea/pepper woodsy blend. The iris seems to scream on my skin and it's a little too intense.
I like it but I'm not in love with it...of course I'm testing it in the dead of winter and I've been told this is more of a late summer scent or maybe fall, so i think i'll like it more that time of year.
Scent: 7.5
Packaging: 7

Miss-Fragrance62

Est ce que ce parfum va être discontinué?

denizz

It is a fresh perfume but not too light. I love it's strong peppery smell

recepozbey

I love this on my woman. It Reminds me of Jako Karl Lagerfeld.. I loved that discontinued Jako too.

AuraeliaBee

the nutty cardamom was very prominent on me, which unfortunately was something I didn't enjoy. But I can see why others would be attracted to this scent. It is interesting, just not for me.

bettybee983

This scent surprised me. I have never smelled anything quite like it. I can not think of anything that this reminds me of, and that is a good thing.

It is fresh but deep, soft yet ornate. Like a lovely song that continues to play, I don't seem to tire of this alluring, sensual smell.

yzmo91

It smells nice on other people, but sniffing it right from the skin I find it too salty and tangy for my liking. I'll stick with Burberry Brit.

EDIT: I tried wearing it in colder months. Love it!

goldenfire5

Tangy and soft spicy with a little tea, on a musky-woodsy base. This reminds me of taking a brisk walk in the fall, wearing a light sweater and boots, crunching the dried leaves on the sidewalk. Then coming inside to have something sweet spicy and warm to drink.

ScarlettX

I didn't expect it to be so so musky and strong. I think vetiver is also very dominant here. I am surprised because it's the only one of Burberry's fragrances I don't find any good at all.
It is sweet and spicy but I don't get any tea notes from it.
Good, for someone else.

Littlegrassstraw

Initially, I did not care for the Beat but I literally warmed up to it - that is, with the heat of summer, it transformed from a synthetic-smelling (and on me slightly head-ache inducing) sporty fresh/spicy to a soft, sweet, creamy and sort of peachy scent which I could really enjoy. So it has been my go-to scent this summer, not because it is the best perfume I have but because it is the perfume I have which is most flattered by hot weather. It has good durability and moderate to medium sillage - all in all perfect for a hot day or evening out and about.

Lavender Child

I decided last year to buy this perfume for summer. I think this is a marvellous summer scent, powdery but not too heavy and like a love child of Rihanna's Nude (vanilla and flowers) with the slighty green tang of Boss Woman.

The woodsy base is stronger though, and it comes through right from the start. It's the only one of the Burberry line I like and wear. It can be worn everyday during summer and autumn, but I feel that the middle notes disappear a bit soon for an Eau de Parfum.

mirul

I bought burberry the beat for my sister. Thank god, she loves it. She even put it in her top list even she has a ton of perfumes. Citrusy note really suit the hot humid weather in my country. My sister said it last all day on her skin which makes her loves it. The bottle is sleek and easy for her to carry with during her vacation.

pretty mini collector

This perfume is so complex. One minute, it's saying, "I'm edgy and aloof", but the next minute, "Just kidding. I'm warm and cuddly." I get a lot of compliments with this perfume. I think I was drawn to its duality, but I guess I'm not the only one!

LouisedeParis

I love the 'cute and shy' side of this fragrance more than everything.

Warm, powdery and slightly spicy, The Beat suits every occasion. Bottle is pretty as well.

Great fragrance! Smells like a very expensive piece of cloth.

teadrinker

At first sniff I thought this smelled exactly like Tommy Girl, which I wore faithfully when I was in college. The scent has that same slightly peppery, bubbly quality that Tommy Girl does. After putting it on, I found that the scent did soften considerably, becoming much more powdery, but still smelling an awful lot like Tommy Girl. Half an hour later the scent is nearly gone. The overall assessment? This is a pretty scent, but it fades far too quickly. I need more than a half hour's wear from my perfume.

Cupcakesprinkle

I actually smelled this perfume on a total stranger but had to ask her what it was since I basically fell in lovee with it. Then finally I purchased it and I got alot of compliments on it! The smell is fresh and floral and a little citrusy. I usally carry it in my purse and spray it every 3 hours. But it can easily be smelled when I walk into a room or flip my hair. It is really sticks to your clothes and the longetivty is pretty good . It is definettly my signature scent and I love it. Its the type of perfume you just cant get enough of! So basically I would definetly recomend this perfume it is one of my faves.

Sweelty

Thank you for a response which was helpful:)

Sweelty

Is this heavy???

Ioli19

Fresh and very uplifting, puts a spring into your step! It's unique and gets noticed, can be worn easily but I love it in the spring the most!
The tea note in this is perfection, and the citrus is there but not loud and in your face!
It's feminine enough but not very girly!
It has a certain confident, classy presence and any age could carry it!
Moderate silage and longevity, can't understand why they are discontinuing it!!!

DarlingOne

I love this scent! When I first sniffed it, an image came to my mind: I was wearing a light, floral, summer dress, walking by the river on a hot late afternoon, hand in hand with my beautiful husband and we were enjoying life. Mind you, it was winter and I don't even have a boyfriend :) But this scent provoked such a beautiful feeling in me that I just had to have it! I love it, but I wouldn't call it my signature scent, but rather a wonderful experience...

YogaRose

Beautiful combination of notes. Fresh, musk, tea, bergamot, and light iris...and although the pink pepper is a nice touch, it might make those around you sneeze. I've honestly noticed people compliment yet sneeze around me when I wear this.

When I first sprayed this I wasn't sure. I love The Beat Eau de Toilette and the notes are slightly similar only obviously this Eau de Parfum is much stronger. It's citrusy at first then mellows into a rather spicy little number and then a soft warm but clean smell. Not overly flowery and at first I thought no this is not for me but I kind of like it because it smells a bit different than other perfumes. Some scents blend into one another and could be anything but this smell is quite distinctive and the more I smell it on me the more I like it! :)

hedikukk

Looking at the ad. and the bottle I got a completely different vibe from this perfume. It surprisingly sweent and not fresh at all (which I personally thought it would be). I dont really even know what type of women is it for. Just strange and hard to pin-point.

neo_xx

it's nice smelling and has very good projection.
the tea with pink pepper do blend well here , a bit sweet and powdery . also it is settle,

not a masterpiece but very good specially in summer

kadinurr

I have smelled Beat EDP on paperstrip before and I liked it. Today I tried it on my skin and it was disaster - suffocating. It was sweet but not like candysweet, more like some kind of food needing something sour to balance things out. Based on the notes I should love it - woody, spicy but not too overpowering... but look what happened. I should try EDT, maybe that juice have more that citric side that seems to be lacking here for me.

t for two

Well, i bought today The beat intense elixir version in Winners for a great price. This version is quite rare. LOVE IT! WoW. So, much better than then edp or edt!

naaym.agecra

Got this blind buy, I didn't like it at first but eventually grew on me.

Eira Sol

I LOVE IT. This baby can go anywhere with me and it smells like warm heaven. Perfect! I constantly get compliments. A friend of mine bought after smelling it on me, unfortunately it smelled quite different on her. Luckily for me though, she gave her bottle to me.

yettb

dreamy creamy light fragrance the green tea brightens it a little and I can detect the iris a bit it and it is a bit baby powderish later on - just simply smells comforting to me very wearable

lollsazz

I had this quite some time ago, but I clearly remember that it smelt burnt car tires on me. I tried it out at least 5 times, hoping it would develop to something else at some point, but it for some reason didn't. There can be a lot of notes to blame for this: the vetiver is smoky and earthy, the citrus is sour, adding to the carbondioxide, "smoke smell in my hair"-feeling, and there are some sharp pepper and cardamom notes, which for some reason smelt quite plasticky. I do not remember smelling tea at any point, actually. I've found that far most Burberry fragrances are not for me - they tend to contain smells of spices that I don't quite understand.

FreyaMarie

I get a soft, powdery orange blossom with some cardamom. I find this to be a mellow, no-nonsense, very office appropriate, warm skin-scent on me. Easy to wear, yet not forgettable.

I normally cannot stand anything with a pink pepper note, but in this one I'm not picking it up at all. The first time I smelled it I found it a bit artificial, almost plasticky, but it quickly grew on me.

I don't find it flirty or sexy whatsoever - instead, this is the perfect work perfume to keep me calm and grounded. (It did keep my nerves at bay all trough a very demanding internship, so I'd say it works...)

slpkmack

A few years ago, I tested The Beat and LOVED it. I tossed around the idea of purchasing it but my fiancé didn't care for it so I abandoned the idea.

A few years later, I came across it at Marshall's and went for it. I was utterly obsessed with it for a few days and kept smelling myself like a lunatic.

It opens with a very bright and spicy citrus smell and dries to a moodier woodsy-musky smell.

Lately when I've attempted to wear it, straight away the scent punches me in the face with a strong, nauseating sour smell. It may be because it's now summer and the weather is hot. Or did I ruin it by leaving it in my car when it was warm (never in direct sunlight)? Perhaps my brain needed a break from all the self-smelling.

To me, it's really more of a cuddly autumn and winter scent so I'll have to give it another shot in a few months and see if I can fall in love again.

evacecilias

I recall very hasty trying this scent in an airport three years ago , after discovering I love cardamon in perfumes. I didn't pick it that time but through a swap I ended up with a sample...wich was nice !
First thought, smellling it on my skin was - Not like any other Burberry... and second thought after settlening....it reminded me of Molecules eccentric 02 though a lot lighter.
The top note is very refreshing with the citruses and cardamon.would have wanted it to stay like that. It turns teally soapy.powdery and a little mailish but then goes back feminine and mellows down to a soft warm musky base.that actually to my taste , turns too soft !
Looking at the large amount of people who picked it for their signature, its either because its so mainstream available or simply because its nice and different enough
All in all- an affordable and soft sleeping beauty !
Might not by it but would accept it in a swap...

genny17

I run hot and cold with The Beat,it has such a mass appeal that it becomes generic, although it smells pleasant enough, it just doesnt appeal greatly to me..it smells nice, outdoorsy, not extremely feminine, but it has its cult following..I like EDt better, it is fruitier..I just am not too interested in owning a bottle, a very anonymous Burberry. Would be great for a college student though..
Would make a good gift, it would appeal to any ages really..

hend whisper

At first smell its seem casual fresh light perfume with the warm and sensual effect of Burbery perfumes
so i bought it :)
but after it's settle on my skin its seem too annoying , very soapy and intense i feel just like I'm in a pharmacy or herbal store !!

i cant stand it on me skin , 4 me the beat is a disappointment :(

kellbell73

To me this smells like the less dark and dirty little sister of Cheap and Chic. lol. Clean and beautiful, for when you want that type of thing, something straight forward. When you want the slightly mysterious/sexy/smokey older sister, reach for the Moschino. They share so many of the same notes-Iris, musk, vetiver and bergamot...just missing that ambergris!!!

xabaras

I can smell the spicy pepper, the freshness of the citrus and the sweetness of the green tea. This harmony of notes lasts for about an hour and then The Beat develops into a musky scent which reminds me of other Burberry fragrances. They all seem to fade into the same musky/ambery note. Maybe it's my skin. A nice fragrance, no doubt. It's just not "special" enough to make me fall in love.

MsYvette

At first, I wasn't wowed by this because it smelled so generic, but time went on and I actually found that The Beat smells much more unique and lovely when I wore it during colder months. In the winter, the cedar, oranges, and vetiver are the most prominent on me. There was something very sassy yet classy about it. I also loved how versatile it was; I can wear to work, with dresses, or with a casual outfit. (I wouldn't say it's a nigh time fragrance, though.) I also found it lasts all day on me in the fall and winter. My boyfriend has also stated that this is his favorite fragrance on me.

During the summer, it's a completely different story. The Beat smelled a lot soapier and plain in the heat. Longevity was weak and it reminded me of a perfumed magazine strip. This really goes to show why I need different fragrances for different seasons.

One important note: Burberry is discontinuing The Beat, so it may be a little difficult to find now.

PiankoPianko

just ok nothing special

IsaIsabella

Soft, squishy and airy is the texture to describe this scent. I see it almost like a cute pink marshmallow. This is a sweet scent, although there's a bit of green and citrus in the background. I thought it would be greener but no, this is a mellow sweet scent. I'll pass on this one. It's nice, but nothing special.

pourfemme

Easy to wear but I dont believe that it will make a difference in anybody's life. Just an ordinary casual perfume... I couldn't decide that I like or dislike it. it is just ok. To my nose, it is the combination of burberry weekend and davidoff cool water :S not too fresh but not disturb too.

BikiniBabe

One of my transition fragrances... i used it when i was going from fresh citrusy perfumes to sugary syrups. =) It did its job in my case. But i wasn't a true fan. Its projection wasn't enough for my taste. It faded to skin way 2 fast. Its a spring fresh and slightly girly fragrance. Frankly i think its a bit overpriced and u could go with a body splash instead, unless u are a label fan. ;)

U can follow me on YouTube @ BeautyOnSale

hyacinth266

I fell in love with her at the first sight. It is very lady but definitely the pink pepper adds some more character to this perfume. I really like the poster which explains everything. Famine, modern, independent, gentle and charming~

Cwatson13

I bought this as a blind try from Marshall's as they had a large stock of the now discontinued scent. I love this perfume! It is intoxicatingly sweet on me without being overbearing. Appropriate for work bit especially for a fun girls night out.

JennyNoelle0203

I have been searching for a perfume that is very fresh but doesn't smell like soap, and The Beat is perfect. I usually don't go for the Woody/Green scents, but this one is beautiful. I wouldn't even have classified it as such when I tested it at Ulta today. I would describe it as a Fresh/Flowery scent. Some are saying that it can be worn by men also, but I disagree. To me it's actually very feminine, and there is already a men's version of it. No need to share. I purchased the 1 oz. size so I can keep it in my purse and it is so chic and adorable with the charm hanging on the side that it makes it fun to take out and freshen up with. This is my new signature. Very happy with it!

Thelma Scents

I don't like it....smelled nicer on my boyfriend than on me. Burberry Brit does it for me. Not my cup of tea. What a drugstore scent!

MilicaaR

I am a big fan of every Burberry fragrance, but this one is one of my favourites! It is clean, simple, but still very modern and sophisticated.
It starts with a nicy fruity note, I suppose it's Mandarin Orange. But after a couple of minutes, it turns into beautiful, powdery, and sweet, but not too sweet, really feminine fragrance.
Very long lasting, good sillage.
Overall, absolutely amazing, feminine, young fragrance. I love it! :)

aning101

Most fragrances don't last very long on me but this one does. It just smells so good, and after a few hours fades to a soft burberry brit-ish scent. Definitely one of my favorites.

selinu

I used to have the body lotion and it was heavenly. Recently I smelled the beat on one of my friends and she said she uses perfume but I don't know that she mentioned edt or edp. I don't know which one has similar scent with my dear body lotion but I like the beat. Will try both of them in a few days and definitely will purchase it.

genny17

I had it, and I liked the EDT better, I feel The Beat is a victim of its popularity, it has no identity, I think overall it is a safe gift , as it really works for everyone out there. Consequently it is a bit common, and not very sophisticated. Let' s face it, Burberry makes interesting scents, not really elegant nor exciting
The Beat is a proper scent, clean, soft. A bit plain.

jessbug

I've had it for two or three years now, and don't find myself reaching for it very often. It's not because it smells bad or anything, but for me this perfume just lacks personality.

Kakibot

I used to have this when I was in my late teens - the whole brand did fit me perfectly, as I was in an indie band and all that x) I still like to smell it, but now that I am 24 I don't think I would wear it if I had my other perfumes around.

It's a very youthful, very citrusy scent, spring/summer, for an optimistic woman full of life. After a bit of time, it gets a classic Burberry undertone, which makes it a more luxuriously smelling scent than just a body spray.

Dollycat

A real burberry scent! It has a little plastic smell to it like the original burberry smell. I also smell a little bit cocos or is it just my nose? I haven´t make up my mind yet if i just like it or love it. It´s a very sweet, little plastic and fresh smell. Maybe i have to wear it a couple times to decide.

Juliana6

I noticed this scent 2 years ago. I sprayed it on a paper strip and already then I realized- one day I'll have it. That time I bought Lolita Lempicka because I wanted a gourmand fragrance. But the idea about The Beat was hunting me. And finally today I got it.

It's fresh ( even a bit minty), floral and clean. But still it has that Burberry secret note which we can smell in all their perfumes. Something warm and sensual, something close to skin, something intimate I would say.
I smell pepper ( spices),green tea, citruses, wood and some sweet flowers.
When I dries down it reminds me the scent of a beautiful woman who has just returned from a very expensive beauty salon. She takes care of herself, she is confident and elegant. I guess a very expensive lipstick could smell like that.
I noticed that the spray element is "invisible" through the bottle. The tiny "pipe" disappears in the liquid, this gives a touch of mystery and elegance.

I agree about the memories, sensations and humid asphalt scent which I like. I imagine this in a rainy, warm spring day...

thalassamou

İt's great to wear for work. Very clean, classy, feminine but not sexy perfume.

PastelMoon

The Beat... It's modern yet classy, a 'proper' perfume. Smells kind of unisex, and very aromatic. It's peppery but cold, almost tingling fragrance. Minimal sweetness but enough to make it smell feminine and delicate. When i smell it, i think of rain, thunder and asphalt. This fragrance is calm but full of underlying emotion.

talamantra

The best perfumes of Burberry the art without departing from the philosophy of singles are classy sweet believe that they should have vanilla plum in GREECE we have a variety of plum that we say vanilla
The secret to believe that they are without the variation is too great after 1h - 2h or add a dynamic and an ''insolence '' that a pleasant surprise

domodomo

I love the scent, though I kind of forgot about it! It smells fresh, crisp, woodsy, and feminine, though it has some nice masculine undertones.

Jama4

SimplyOliver

I'm a man, and a very close friend of mine is wearing this. I love it, I feel like a baby every time I'm hugging her. It also gives a wonderful smell to her scarf, that I'm wearing times to times. Reassuring, mature and classy woman scent.

THE BEAT by Burberry

Dry, spicy, white musky, lightly-earthy, lightly-citric, black tea of low sweetness. Opens with a blast of very dry bergamot, cardamom, and heavy handed dose of biting pink pepper. I get very little sweet mandarin from this one on my skin. Develops further with a rush of unsweetened black tea infused with a hint of earthy iris. Everything is engulfed by a flourish of grainy-lightweight vetiver, white musk, and a sharply lingering cedar finish.

I wouldn’t call it fresh so much as simply dry, bitter, and devoid of any vegetal sweetness throughout development.

I find it prickly and abrasive, attempting to wave the flag of elegance due to the absence of sweetness, and failing rather obviously due to a consistent rasping crudity of grainy bitterness, and an overly dry, harshly-abrasive lack of smoothness that is unrelieved throughout any stage of development.

All in all, it’s rather like a mixture of insect repellent and furniture polish on my skin.

*_koko_*

This is a special perfume, for sure.. I find it a perfect choice if you're looking for something good and light, but still feminine.. It starts with an intense note of tea on me, and becomes more floral with time.. I smell the iris, the pepper.. I love it for everyday, it lasts for soo long..and boys seem to appreciate this a lot..

mahatma7

I'm in love !

hollyms

The tea in here is very strong, giving it a breath-of-fresh air feel, like you're out by the beach or the mountains. It feels extremely aquatic to me. Personally, I prefer my perfumes to be warm, cozy, and maybe a bit gourmand. This isn't that - it's cold, if anything. But it still smells very nice, and it's super long lasting. Projection is good, too. My boyfriend also goes crazy for this scent.

Britt005

i remember having a little sample of this and using it everyday!
the cedar and the musk make it woody and sensual while the citrus and the flowers just give it that tiny bit of freshness that makes it juicy and nice.

efratrav

After wearing this, I couldn't fall asleep.. it's so overpowering and heavy..

janelle70

Interesting back-story on how this frag was named. Although my rocker chic persona would not wear this to represent itself. However, my serious, slightly-preppy office persona would. :) I like it though -- a good warm fragrance but still wearable in our tropical climate.

isabellacherie

it is my absolute favourite, it is a very young, unique and vibrand scent :) and it is longlasting i love it!! and if you liked this you should try the EDT versión as well, it is defferent but lovely.

Pinksugarplum03

Such an amazing scent! It is so beautiful. It's great for day/ night and for any season! It is very long lasting. I get complements whenever I'm wearing it!

arxsyn

Every time i try this i just cannot bear it. The base is thick, headache inducing. Really synthetic too. Ugh

I dismiss it as angel and light blue muddled together with spices.
A more substantial light blue. The tops are so similar

RGR

I like this!

This is some strong perfume! I think the cardamom note is responsible for some people hating this. The beat starts quite fresh and fruity and then changes until it gives you a spicy, citrus tea-like scent that lasts and lasts through the test of time.

I find The Beat to be quite a rebel. This is not for everyone. This is not a crowd pleaser. This is for someone that goes against the norm, an independent thinker and perhaps has a rocker-type personality. This girl rides a motorcycle and wears leather jackets just like the boys. She really doesn't care if people stare or find her rough around the edges. She dances to the rhythm of her own beat. This is the reason I think this perfume is misunderstood.

I wear this in extremely cold and windy weather because in hot weather it just annoys me by being too rebellious and loud. I wear this when I am feeling brave, independent, rebellious and even risky.

annettepe

i dont like this fragrance too much. its a bit too woody for my taste, though the dry down is vanilla which is pleasant. not my type of scent even though its a lot of people's favorite.

Thepeacefulone

I sniffed a sample of Beat today and I loved it! I love tea so this babe is a winner! Bottle looks so innocent :) fragrance is fresh, young almost sexy. This one is for me.

Tara_Dan

Its really strange, that when I got this and sprayed it for the first time, all I got was the bergamot, and I disliked it. Not that I dislike bergamot so much, but citrus is just ubiquitous! And so I think it stayed tucked away for quite a while until recently when I used it again, and loved it. I think I get the occasional whiff of what I'm guessing is the tea...or it might be the pepper, or the vetiver. Whatever it is, that makes this perfume stand out for me. When I first got this, I thought I wouldnt buy another, but now I am not so sure!

However, on the drydown, I feel it smells similar to Burberry by Burberry. Its a little lighter and fresher, but still similar.

zanny

very fashionable, unique, unforgettable, modern, active but still a little bit feminine. that's all i feel about it <3 i really love this perfume!

Museumgal

The tea is lovely and fresh with the citrus, and the pepper keeps it interesting. The florals and basenotes especially keep this from being a "smelling like a tea shop" tea. Good if you want a tea that has more complexity to it.

sinclame

After my successful purchase of Burberry Weekend about a month ago I thought I would give a few other Burberry scents a chance while I was out shopping on date night. I came across The Beat and fell head over heels! I havent had a scent sweep me away like that since Heat by Beyonce 2 years ago.(which is still my signature scent) :D its all of my favorite scents (tea, bergamot, pink pepper, cardamom, iris, and mandarin) all rolled into one. Its stunningly fresh and delicious. I ended up buying the gift set (which included the 50ml parfum, the purse sized 5ml parfum and the body lotion). I will be able to wear it all year round and is now one of my all time favorite scents.

s_athena

Meh. Smells generically clean and inoffensive to me. I like it, but I think this is too innocent and... pastel for me. I like scents that are brighter, darker or earthier, not airy pastels. This is like Brit in its powderiness, but even Brit has more interesting bits with the lime-almond combo (and dried apricot-peach accords that I get), and less airy musk. Stick with Brit, even if everyone else has it. You might as well wear what everyone else has if you're going to blend into the crowd as much as this one does.

aliabooboo

I always spray this on my clothes because it feels like a refreshing non-invasive lift me up. I don't feel obnoxious wearing this perfume in public areas such as the office or public transit. The top note carries a grape-y kind of smell to me, like grape candy. But that just might be "mandarin orange" ... or "pink pepper", whatever that is.

Cams

A fresh, well-made and just beautiful scent. I have the EDT and the EDP and they both have their distinct, though similiar, personality. I absolutely love wearing them both - I just feel a little more dressed up in this one. A new favourite!

arimegahot

me pareció buena, para uso diario y de día. es limpio y femenino, pero no me parece nada audaz, me gustan los perfumes que llaman más la atención y este me parece un tanto aburrido

Lerior

Works for men too! (If you like 1 Million you'll probably like this!). It's so fresh and clean. I've got many compliments wearing this one!

Guys, go for it! It's not very feminine. In fact, there are many fragrances marketed towards men much more feminine than this.

8/10

octobersun

It is soft, clean tender, fresh but also in a way warm, slightly soapy, just a bit sweet. Safe choice, very wearable, especially for work, university... It will never offend anybody, that's for sure.

Sarahem

This is my signature scent.

It is light and natural. It is refreshing, yet warm and comforting. Not overpowering. My friends always say how good it smells (I spritz the EDP on the back of my neck so my hair whips the scent around).

The sensation is young, ambition, flirty, and innocent. I think the key to finding your signature scent is not trying to adapt yourself to the scent, but finding the scent that adapts to you--as this scent does for me. People say that this perfume smells like me, as it should be one with the person who wears it and represents their personality, energy, and essence. I love this scent.

Lookin4Happy

I'll agree with the posters that say this is nothing extraordinary, however, sometimes life just calls for that. Today it's going to be super hot and is already humid as heck in VA. I'm at the office. Perfect summertime, hot weather, office scent. It isn't cloying, but just leaves me feeling fresh even though I'll be soggy by the end of the day from this heat.

Aspendina

wow I am beating myself up now for pass this up at Ross all those times I saw it. This is amazing its like a spicy version of Anna Sui's Sui Dreams I LOVE this.

Edit: I actually get ALOT of vanilla from this even though I don't see vanilla in the notes. I am having a problem with the staying power even though its an edp,it wears so close to the skin that its crazy, I can barely even smell it on my clothes after a few minutes. I was ready to buy this but I will have to think it over a bit as no perfume is worth any amount of money if u or anyone else can't smell it on you, but good god its such an amazing scent.
