Starts off very dark with a hint of freshness then dries down to a sweet skin scent similar to spice bomb edt.
Smells mature and sophisticated.

exmin

very dense perfect blend. i can smell 5% guilty absolute dna in this.

fedejoan

Blindbought this, I hate the opening, but the drydown is more soft and sweet, similar to jpg le male le parfum. 6/10 performance

Anabol2336

Imagine Spicebomb but not as sweet and much more refined with a heavy leather note added. That's Man in Black. I personally think it's an improvement over Spicebomb and id choose it over that one any day. I don't see much resemblance to Spicebomb Extreme though because that one is more of a pipe tobacco fragrance. So it's not redundant to have both MIB and Spicebomb Extreme. The performance is a solid 12 hours easily. Beautiful classy fragrance.

The b*tch magnet

Very very masculine, Spicy, rich, dark, boozy, resinous this stuff is so good the leather undertone pops this fragrance into another league of its own.

Tobacco? Rum? Leather?
Thats how you know this fragrance means business

Last year before i was about to purchase this, the lady at the fragrance shop straight up told me this smells of a bad boys fragrance😳 . You will be grabbing alot of female attention with this.

You cant compare this to any of the spicebombs, this takes its own direction.

If you’re somebody that suits a confident, mature, manly, dominant persona, this fragrance is calling for you. I don’t know how this isn’t talked about more .

A true hidden gem

You will get ladies with this no doubt about it

Only area this fragrance lacks is performance. I get around 6hours with good projection for the first 2 hours, then it becomes more of a skin scent. Unfortunately im left to re-apply this throughout the day.

Its quite expensive for both the 60ml and 100ml and is not really worth the price because of the poor performance issues, your left to constantly re-apply so you run out of juice quicker. Not really economical.

What can i really say about this.. its CK One Shock with a bit stronger performance (but not much) and slightly better quality and less synthetic opening (if by a tad).
Personally i do not see the parallels with Spicebomb here. The tobacco and boozy notes are much more prominent here, and the scent is very linear.
Performance? Honestly, could and should have been better for the type of scent it is. But Bvlgari have been dropping the ball in that direction since forever, so be peppered to be disappointed again.
Otherwise its a pleasant, easy to wear winter scent that you can throw on everytime when you don't feel the occasion you are going out for deserves spraying one of your winter heavy hitters. Would you really wear an Amouage to go for groceries? If the answer is no, here is where Bvlgari Man in Black steps in.

Overall, enjoyable, but unremarkable and a bit underperforming scent. Don't overpay for this.

Palosanto

This is a very, very nice fragrance. Though not listed, I smell something like black pepper and a touch of incense. It makes me recall L'Occitane Eau des Baux, another great fragrance.

Freakmoney

Strong, masculine, dark, sexy. Kind of like a more balanced Spicebomb. Amazing fragrance if you like spicy, masculine fragrances. The spice pierces through a dark subtle set of notes. I love it.

New Parfum is out, wake up fragrantica

SkyLynx

I am convinced at this point that Alberto Morillas can do no wrong. There may be a fragrance or two from his mind out in the world that did not come out amazing, but it certainly is not Bvlgari Man In Black.

Intoxicatingly boozy and wrapped in notes of quality tobacco and a bit like chocolate covered almonds without being cloying, it is similar to Spicebomb and Rehab in it's opening, but quickly comes into it's own dominant alpha leathery aroma. The quality is definitely infiltrating the ranks of Initio and Tom Ford fragrances but at a much lower price point. I imagine this is what Johnny Cash smelled like if he had walked past me backstage, which only makes me like Man in Black even more as he is, in my opinion, one of the coolest guys to ever walk the Earth. It boggles my mind how anyone voted this as a 'female' scent, as it exudes masculinity in volumes. I suppose certain women could maybe pull this off, but it certainly is not feminine leaning at all.

The presentation is gorgeous, with reflective gold lettering set against matte black in a deco style bottle. Looking at all of the bottles in the Bvlgari Man series, I am inclined to save up a small fortune to collect them all, especially seeing that Mr. Morillas appears to have created nearly the entire line. For me, while sitting working at my desk I was able to smell this rolling around me for about two hours before it started to fade into a skin scent. Longevity varies of course depending on a lot of different factors, but overall I think the longevity is a bit poor. Regardless though, it is a safe blind buy if you already know you are somebody who enjoys boozy, tobacco scents.

@Danose4frag

I actually own Man in Black Parfum, so yes it has been released.

JessiB

One of the sexiest smelling fragrances EVER to be launched for men!!

BallSniffer

I prefer the new parfum

adl83

Real good. This is a spicy and subtle sweet scent. It's not overpowering, great for office use and night events.

Danose4frag

I'll believe it when I see it on their website and in stores.

Edit 3/22/2024: I found it on the Bvlgari Great Britain (en-gb) web page. Sadly, it is not on the U.S. (en-us) page yet.

Danziger

The new Man in Black Parfum is now available. Of course, nothing about it on Fragrantica...

Stef_2310

This is in a way a more mature and sophisticated version of the original Spicebomb. It is less sweet, more airy and also somewhat drier.
I would have loved it but I can't stand the pungent black pepper note in the opening. It mellows down as time passes but never really goes away. I wish it was only cinnamon instead of black pepper and I would have made it my winter signature scent. Its performance is a bit below average also.

xmpiscool

An absolute beast. One of the best winter/fall fragrances out there. Totally recommend!

MarkoBojkovski

@sonny35 new flanker is Parfum, reviews started to pop-up. I am low key hyped about it, it seems like performances are better...

LePianoMan

Actually really quite nice. Opens spicy and boozy, with almost a sort of orange candy note in the background, although I'm pretty sure that's actually just the mix of cinnamon and tonka among a couple other things - but it does kinda smell like orange candy. The color I get from this is an orangey-brown for sure. The spice definitely fades a lot as this dries down and it just dries down to sort of a mild, sweet, slightly spicy leather. Very smooth for sure.

I will say that longevity isn't spectacular or anything (at best, I've got 6-8 hours with about 4 hours of projection, so not bad) but that's actually fine by me.

Edit: coming back to this to also mention that after it dries down, I actually find that it smells a little bit like Tom Ford's Black Orchid in some ways. It has that similarly sweet earthy kind of smell, hard to describe exactly how they're similar but would be interested in knowing if anyone else gets that.

mordrod

Great stuff, masculine, but interesting. Spicy, boozy. Not impressed by the performance though. Very similar to Spicebomb original, except Spicebomb is more synthetic, but performs better. This one smells more refined. So, you can go for either one depending on your preference and options in terms of price. Got my Bulgary for only 50USD, so I am happy with it.

Ayman Abdelhameed

Male version Of 212 VIP (gold)

jamshiad

got this when it was initially released back in 2015 and fell in love with it completely. Then got the limited edition version with that African art design bottle and found it a little less boozy and more heavy on the leather but neverthe less an amazing flanker. so now in 2024 found a tester bottle at a great price from a legit seller so went for it but was soooo disappointed. the reformulation has sucked the performance out of it not to mention the blending of the notes in compression to my old bottle seems like a clone of its former self. i wouldnt call it maceration effect of my old bottle as this new 2024 version is never what i remember man in black used to be.

Unmodernize

Fine black frag, balanced

Maggzx

This is one of the best night out fragrance. It smells so mysterious. I own a 2016 batch of this, definitely what I smelling ain't the same on newest batch, but surely the old formulation is way more better. I have vintage bottle of this, and I'm selling it, im switching into fresh fragrances, just message me, also im trading it hit me up!!

sonny35

Fingers crossed for the parfum flanker having better performance. Should be out in the next month or two, hoping it won't be a disappointment.

DIABOULIKAL

A gorgeous fragrance I just wish it lasted longer and projected more. That boozy tobacco and leather is just so well crafted.

Lwjm

TL;DR: a lot of POWDER with delicate spice. This is a powder bomb - there are 60+ references to powder below, but you can't vote for it. Then there are light spices and balsam. I like it, but I can't love it. I was hoping for something "fuller" and more creative and decisive.

This'll be difficult for all the rufty-tufty big butch straight fellas to read, but... The early (strong, pre-reformulation) version of MiB smells a lot like Estée Lauder's Youth Dew, but at 20% strength and 3x the price, so if you're an adventurous perfumista and love this, that could be an interesting avenue to explore. I really love the Youth Dew "version" of this - especially relevant to the many people below complaining about dilution. I'm a 6'3" dad, and I wear Youth Dew 10x more than this.

Perfumeland needs a range of well-considered reviews, so that people can better make their buying decisions.

============================

Given this scent's profile, I expected to love this scent, but this blind buy leaves me thinking, "Well... It's fine, I suppose." the reviews on Basenotes are much more neutral than here, and I should have read them first.

This packs a HUGE powdery punch from the get-go, and you need to know that. There are at least 60 other mentions of powderiness in the reviews, but it's not mentioned in the notes breakdown above. You need to love powder.

This is accompanied by a light, delicate but masculine floral note. Some people are calling iris; maybe, but if this is iris then Demachy's Dior masterpieces are not. Iris can manifest as powder - maybe that's the link. then there are gentle balsams and spices - very gentle.

People are also finding rum and spice, which implies they've never smelled Bentley for Men Intense. And Spice bomb and especially Youth Dew are much deeper, spicier and more resonant that this scent.

As for leather, well... Perhaps if you've never put your nose on Acqua di Parma Leather, or any of TF's smash hit leathers, then maybe so. But to me, it doesn't even have the leather that some other florals have - like the violet-dominant Chanel Tuxedo.

I suspect that your perspective will depend on where you're coming from in your perfume journey. I own a bottle of this; I like it. But it's quite dainty, and not very exciting.

That does not mean that you won't love it - plenty of people do! (On fragrantica, if not Basenotes...)

dustanims

very very VERY masculine

madieraman

Recently got a tester vial of this. It's a really nice warm tobacco and spice scent. Great for cuddling up on winter nights with your girl. The only thing I don't like about this is every once in a while I smell a hint of what reminds me of peanut butter, maybe that's just me though. This seems to fade quickly too.
I actually think Maison Alhambra Tobacco Touch is better than this. It's the same scent only a bit stronger with better projection and doesn't have that peanut butter smell. Plus Tobacco Touch only costs about $20.

Scent: 8/10
Projection: 3/10
Longevity: 2/10

Overall I like it, but I would recommend Maison Alhambra Tobacco Touch over this.

Kamyarkiani

I love the smell but idk why it doesn’t have any projection and noone notices my fragrance when i wear this .

Prajwalcha

Purchased this for NPR. 8500 (~ USD $60).
This goes like Spicy Woody to a Boozy and then to a Leathery note as you wear it. Don't get anything sweet or gourmand, but the opening is quite intoxicating, not a harsh opening in terms of spices, it's just a very smooth boozy animalic smell.
This is something that you get if you take out the cinnamon and sweetness from Khamrah by Lattafa.
In terms of wearability, it's a perfect cold weather evening fragrance, but not everyone might like it. Smells a bit mature, like a 30 + year old would wear it in formals.
Not quite satisfied with the performance for a Spice-Wood-Leather background frangrance.
Overall Rating:
Presentation: 7/10
Scent: 7/10
Versatility: 5/10
Value for Money: 7/10
Projection: 5/10
Sillage: 5/10
Longevity: 6/10

Lucabear

Guy bellow me is a massive hater… this stuff is really nice, if you like spice bomb edt and extreme but you want something smoother and higher quality give this a try…

Got a bottle from eBay for half the normal price, currently is one of my favourite fragrances in my collection

TWN2RBO

Perfect cold day scent. Much better smell than Spicebomb. Nothing close to Inito - Rehab, that is the king of this type of scent. Boosy, tobacco, cinnimon is really all I smell with a hint of benzoin and tonka for depth and sweetness. NOT A SWEET fragrance, nothing feminine about this one. MY ONLY COMPLAINT with this fragrance is performance, specifically projection and scent trail. I can smell is on skin for about 6 hrs max, after an hour or its more of a skin scent. It is what it is, a lot of the worlds best smelling scents have some performance issues, get Inito - Rehab if you want a better version of this with amazing performance.

Smirky

Very nice scent that is masculine and boozy, a little sweet. Agree with other reviews - a more refined or sophisticated (or civilized, haha) version of Spicebomb Extreme. Performance is not great, which is unfortunate. Too quickly it's gone.

Update: Am almost finished with my sample vial and will retire it from my collection. Basically too weak and similar to Spicebomb Extreme so I'll take Spicebomb Extreme instead.

BlackAmberMoon

Oh, God, every man should smell like this. LOVE it.

RLSafari

While I have not smelled Spicebomb, this fragance reminds me a little to Ombre leather. I like it but since I got it I don't know its performance. So far so good.

Aryaberzan

This could have been the cold weather fragrance to replace spicebomb extreme for me, but performance is a shambles. Especially considering price.
Smell wise it is beautiful, masculine, mature, boozy. Like spicebomb extreme but grown up and more refined. Still a bit designer, but classy. Winter time only. It’s a big shame it lasts about an hour on skin, a couple on clothes before becoming very intimate. That’s why I would recommend spicebomb extreme over this. It’s louder, less mature but is a bargain when considering price, sillage and longevity.
I will not repurchase this, unless a much longer lasting version is released. I will continue to look for a more mature replacement for spicebomb extreme..

Bledon

The opening is like spicebomb the og one after it dries down it gets different you can smell the leather and the wood notes it is a masucline fregrance not as sweet as spicebomb though.
My rating for this 8/10

Azhar Tanvir

Opening is a Spice Bomb with Herbalistic/Majoon style spicy smell. Dry down is more like lattafa Asad.(Which is a performance Beast)
Performance is very weak.2-3 hours indoors.

TWN2RBO

What’s not to love, if you like Spicebomb, then you’ll love this. This is what Spicebomb was trying to accomplish, Alberto M came in and said… “hold my beer”. It’s a near perfect boozy, leather, tobacco fragrance with hints of cinnamon all over. 11/10. I found a new tester bottle for $65 shipped too!

Zenfold

Had a shower at a friends house a few years ago and he had the gift set shower gel version, thought I'd give it a try and felt like the sexiest guy alive. 2 years later I got it.

This thing is like Spicebomb but sexier.

I WISH it would last a lot longer, performance after an hour is extremely poor, sprayed on myself 10-15 times just to keep it around 2 hours. I have a good nose, I'm not used to the smell, it really is just poor.

Don't get me wrong however, this scent is amazing, super masculine sexy, I'm a straight dude but this makes me want to love myself.

Severi Kosonen

Beautiful fragrance. Very spicy, but I like it.

JeanPaulGaltier

I smell Black Currant as top note

FragheadMo

Well done Bulgari. The drydown of MIB smells a lot like spicebomb. I get a lot of cloves in the opening, which im not a big fan of, but the drydown is what makes this fragrance so good to me. Cinnamon, soft leather, booze, woods and vanilla. Unlike spicebomb, this is not too sweet. If the clove note in the opening was a bit toned down, this would have been a masterpiece.

9/10

ambervxyjul

Surprised to not see any woman reviews on this! I actually loves this so much on my partner that I even spray occasionally on myself. It’s the perfect blend of vanilla, leather and boozy notes. Very beautiful scent. To me it is unisex!

This has almost a “hay” or horse barn smell that is intoxicating! It lingers quietly and not in a gross dirty barn way. Reminds me of Clive Christian scents.

Doesn’t smell cheap or designer like!

TheDogfatherHTX

The most hyped Bvlgari fragrance by far. This one has shown up on more than a few top 10 lists. I bought into the hype and got a sample from a subscription box. Here's how it went;

Scent:
Opening is spicy, leathery, and boozy. The primary notes I get are spices, rum, leather, and tobacco. The strongest of the notes are the spices and leather giving it a warm and animalic profile, followed by the tobacco and rum that add to the warmth and provide a little bit of sweetness. There's also touches of iris for a little powderiness and guaiac wood for some woodiness. The dry down is sweet, leathery, and woody. The primary notes I get are tonka and benzoin for a vanillic sweetness, followed by rum, leather, and guaiac wood. The rum adds to the sweetness as well as providing booziness, the leather brings the same animalic profile, and the guaiac wood provides a sturdy woody background.

Performance:
Initial projection is strong at around 6 feet. Sillage is strong as well with an easily noticeable scent trail. After about 3-4 hours the projection was about 12 inches and the sillage was gone. What a shame.

When to wear:
This is a fall/winter fragrance most suited for evening wear. This would be too strong for the office, but would be a magnificent choice for a date night.

Blind buy:
This is a safe blind buy if you like sweet, leathery, and boozy fragrances. Just keep in mind that the performance isn't anything special.

Final verdict:
This is a magnificent scent, I just wish it lasted longer. For having heavy notes like leather, benzoin, and tobacco the longevity was very disappointing. If the performance were better, I could see myself putting this in my fall/winter rotation, but with the lack thereof I probably wont reach for it very often. To be honest, I'm starting to feel like maybe it's not the fragrance itself but something the subscription box company is doing. I'll probably end up buying a bottle and testing it again to see, just because I enjoy the scent so much. But as it is now, this is not a fragrance I would recommend spending money on. There's other fragrances with similar DNA's that perform better.

Scent: 9/10
Longevity: 5/10
Sillage: 5/10

Larinus

Incredibly beautiful perfume made for night out and dating. The most prominent note is cinnamon and rum, then guaiac and leather

Scipath29

I have a bottle manufactured in March 2022. I've been using it slowly but steadily. Half the bottle is exhausted, and it has been macerating for almost 2 years now. To me, it smells incredibly beautiful and very natural. The spices and tobacco, with the floral accords in the background, supported by mild sweetness, amount to a very sophisticated and masculine fragrance. In contrast to some reviews here, I find the performance to be perfect. It lasts for 8 hours on me, even longer on clothes.

Although I am always exploring and testing several fragrances as a hobby, every time I smell this, I am wowed. "This is it," I tell myself, "Nothing can beat this."

Several others have come close: MFK Grand Soir, Givenchy Gentleman Reserve Privée, Kilian Black Phantom, and Initio Side Effect. But all of them lack something or the other, be it the price, performance, or popular reception.

This.... (Sniffing my arm) this is a masterpiece.
(Sniffing again) This is it. Nothing can beat this.

Jeremycuh

When I'm falling asleep. When I'm walking, When I'm running. When I'm sleeping. When I'm eating food. When I'm in conversation. When I'm doing work. When I'm working out. When I'm washing my hands. When I'm brushing my teeth. When I'm taking vitamins. When I'm doing skin care. When I'm playing with friends. When I'm going out. When I'm breathing...

This fragrance is the only thing I think about.

I can't even begin to explain how attention grabbing, and pleasant this fragrance is. Its a beautiful combination of different notes of tobacco, vinniala, rum, leather and multiple different spices.

Your instantly high status and the most sophisticated person in the room if you are wearing this fragrance. I can't even explain my love for this scent.

Fragrancee123

Prices are getting higher, quilty is getting lower. And thats not a way to success.
Smells good , but Doesn't worth the money.

Siprian85

😒The new bottles (2020-2023) are very weak in performance and longevity (4-5 hours on skin in cold weather .) , drastically reformulated. they ruined this wonderful fragrance unfortunately. 😏.
I do not recommend its purchase
Save 80€ and buy something else of better quality😉

chrisk252

Smooth expensive black french leather, dry, not sweet, stark and dark, classy, and clean. I don't get the amber aspect as it's too dry and stark to be ambery (sweet and cozy). Great for fall and winter nights. Black tie events, maybe office if restrained with the sprays. Very nice.

Scent: 8 / Sillage: 7.5 / Longevity: 7

Mhthefragrancelover

This shit is spicy water. Lasts like garbage with no sillage. If the oil concentration in this fragrance was increased by probably about 7-10%, it would be one of the best designer mens fragrances on the market. It smells so nice and comfortable. Sometimes it reminds me of black haircare products though so I don't really like that. It's like on another review, a Filipino guy said he didn't like 'terrae essence' because he's sick of the smell of calamansi, he smells it all the time at home so he doesn't like it in fragrance. I always have Shea/cocoa butter and different oils that smell like this so I get sick of it quickly. Luckily it doesn't last long thought😄. I feel like if they turned up the spice just a liiiiitle bit and made it stronger it would be soo much better. In my opinion it isn't worth buying if you're building a collection. Lots of better fragrances than this.

turnerscott

surprising. not the same as spice bomb altho i see the comparison. this is like spice bomb combines over an astringent tuscan leather. way way more masculine than i was expecting....like it....need some time to get into it tho

Wiek_scents

Bvlgari man in black is a very masculine boozy fragrance with spicy and woody notes, in my opinion this is a classier and more mature version of spicebomb extreme. If you are a classy and masculine man you will enjoy this fragrance very much. In the opening there is a very strong rum note. as soon as the dry down comes there is a nice mix between rum, leather and tobacco. the versatility not great, it could be used as a everyday in the winter but its better for formal events. if there was one scenario to describe the fragrance I would say its a black tie event. The performance is solid, it lasts for 8 hours on my skin and the projection is nice in the beginning but after about 4-5 hours it sits very close to the skin. The best fragrance from Bvlgari.
8.5/10

Zenith Corvus

Hands down one of the best fragrances I have tried. The 2019 batch is really good.

The fragrance introduces you to a rich and spicy opening mixed with rum; sweet and robust without being overpowering. It begins to tone itself down after several hours with a soft and subtle vanilla base combined with hints of tonka bean and leather notes.

This is a great nighttime fragrance to wear while attending a formal party or perhaps when you are on a date. Best to wear during the autumn and winter months.

Overall, really good performance. Although the sillage does decrease over time, it is nonetheless a long lasting fragrance. Even after twelve hours, it is still present on the skin.

benlippi

Spice and booze heavy opening. Gets better as it dries down imo. It’s like a mix of dark rebel rider and spicebomb. I also get the pumpkin spice scent at times like someone else mentioned, which I love. This is a beautiful fragrance, it has a lot of character. Unfortunately for me it doesn’t project off my skin too well. That’s probably just my skin chemistry or perhaps a bad batch. If it was stronger it would be a near 10.

Update: Amazing scent but overspraying is necessary. Better way to describe this frag is a slightly more nuanced and less synthetically sweet Spicebomb. This is becoming my favourite for winter.

yashawwr

one of the best perfumes i have had in my life.

lenelene

very masculine and appealing smell of a boozy, tobacco and leather scent. perfect for cold nights due to the warm spiciness.

Guardian2471

This DOES NOT smell like Spicebomb. The scent is a 6/10 and this is not a fragrance that I would recommend checking out.

JusttheFactsMan

#322 in my "Tour de Fragrance"

Maybe a little too boozy opening for some? No worries. An hour in that note fades and the rest keep on projecting. I think you just keep the application minimal and it's fine. Overspray and it can get a bit much. Kind of old school but it a good way. Substitute rum for the conifer in any of the "Bogart-One Man Show" frags and that's kind of where this fits in. Cold weather scent for sure. Perfect for the slopes and the ski lodge. Not summer wear, not club wear. Date scent if used sparingly. Not office appropriate to my nose. Too sweet and boozy. You'll come across as that VP everyone talks about that drinks Rum and Coke with his lunch and falls asleep in the middle of meetings.

Personally I liked the "Orient" version for the Oud note and didn't like its rose note. I like this flanker's Iris note, but lose the sweetness. Niggling complaints about a line of scents that get it done, but they are kinda overpowered, so for me it's a single spritz, and they aren't as versatile as I generally like, so for me it's an occasional scent in the rotation.

Ferra_Verto

A well-loved leather jacket that's absorbed the scent of the guiac wood closet it's stored in. Has strong remnants of rum from where its owner spilled his drink, with strong remnants of spicy tobacco smoke. Really heady and persistent, but there's something very comfortable about it all.
Perfect for autumn and winter, cold weather only.
Projects very strongly, I can tell this will last all day.
Not unisex at all, but an adventurous woman who enjoys this scent profile will love this too.

AquaRegia

Bvlgari Man in Black is the quintessential fragrance for a sophisticated gentleman on a chilly evening. This fragrance combines spicy, boozy, and woodsy notes with a touch of leathery sweetness and amber.

Picture a suave and confident businessman in his 40s, attending a corporate New Year's dinner party with his elegant wife. He exudes the natural aroma of rum and vibrant spices, anchored by a base of leather and woody tonka. Above all, he radiates the scent of rapid success. Man In Black perfectly encapsulates this confident and long-lasting masculine fragrance, which fully justifies its higher price point.

Opting for the larger 100ml bottle is a wise choice, as it ensures you won't run out too quickly. This fragrance is undoubtedly a masterpiece in the world of designer scents, earning a well-deserved 10/10 rating.

QualityGuy

Gotta be the sexiest opening in my collection. I dont really care for openings that much, but this one blows me away every. single. time. wow

Cascayd

Beautiful and well rounded. The opening is great and changes in an interesting way with the tuberose note in the mid. I normally dislike tuberose, but in this it is subtle enough that it adds intrigue and compliments the overall scent profile.

simpa256

Man in Black Parfum is arriving. Cant wait as I hsve been a fan of this since day 1

Anzar Shah

"A high value seductive man in a sophisticated party dressed in a black formal attire" in a bottle. This fragrance is a masterpiece by Morillas with a perfect blend of boozy and spicy notes. While the spices may irritate only some people's taste, the boozy leather iris notes are phenomenal. An excellent example of a masculine scent as this thing does not project more than a feet, rather intimate, but the longevity is eternal. My brother travelled with 4 spays on his jacket and put it in the cupboard and said it made the entire cupboard smell, even after 2 days! Overall, the best masculine scent I've used so far

Shpend

I like it, but not my best.

Bvlgari Man In Black Bvlgari

Nice spicy warm and rummy tobac MIB. Liked by many, took me sometime to warm up to liking it better. A little sweet cuz of the tonka. Drydowns not too bad too. At least the iris isn't that pronounced.

THE HANDSOME MAN IN BLACK

The looks...
This perfume is the black Taj Mahal of perfumery, a monument to the more daring Italian designers. The presentation gives us one of the market's nicer-looking bottles, very manly and sober. Undoubtedly the matte black and rose gold flask does grab one's attention on any shelf. However, it's not built with rugged construction. Also, the handy smart locking sprayer may let you down sometimes.

The juice...
If one is allowed to have various signature fragrances, this is one of mine. It's very intense (an EDP), quite aromatic and spicy, with very good quality perfume essences and a manly dark scent. It smells expensive and classy. Only "Spicebomb | Viktor & Rolf" comes close, but why use Spicebomb when you have BVL Man in Black? Spicebomb is bolder and spicier but Man in Black is more woody, elegant and wearable (I use both perfumes actually).
For short, it's an aromatic, boozy, spicy and just a bit sweet oriental fragrance.
It opens with a punch of spices and rum. You may imagine yourself as a powerful pirate captain, fearful and full of confidence. Add some imagination and you will become either Barba Rossa or Jacques Laffite. You will feel like everybody is recognizing your power and strength. It's so good when we are the centre of the world...
The heart is not far apart from the spicy boozy opening. Tuberose starts the sweet cycle of this perfume, but the sweetness reais up with a sour dark leather that contributes to the fragrance DNA. You have the power, but you also exhale some smoothness and sweetness.
In the base stage, you consolidate your strength with a gorgeous blending of the fainting leather, dark Guaiac (called "saint wood" in some parts of Africa and Brazil), vanilla and tonka. And it lasts long enough for you not to regret your choice (8 hours longevity with 3 sprays in the back of my hand).
You must use Man in Black among people who like strong scents. Most people will love your sillage but may become uncomfortable with your close proximity. It would be best if you used it in classy parties, weddings, classy clubs or alone for your pleasure. Humphrey Bogart would have used it in Casablanca for sure if he could. Unfortunately, it may be too intrusive for close encounters (hugging and cuddling), but who cares... It's so marvellous on the proper occasions.
The nose behind it? It's one of the works I prefer from Alberto Morillas but I always think of it as a Nathalie Lorson creation. I wonder why?

My rates for this Bvlgari jewel:
___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___
- Scent Opening: 10.0 (ravishing tobacco and rum with sweet and dark sower seasoning of tuberose and leather)
- Scent Drydown: 9.0 (tonka and benzoin add a resinous sweetness still kept in the dark by guaiac wood)
- Longevity: 8.0 (slightly above average longevity of 7~8 hours with 2 sprays)
- Sillage: 8.0 (slightly above an average radius of 5 feet with 2 sprays; it projects for 2 hours)
- Uniqueness: 9.0 (I take off 1.0 just due to the 2 years older Spicebomb)
- Wearability: 8.5 (Fall and winter - day and night; Spring at night)
- Versatility: 8.0 (you may still have to "teach" other people to appreciate this wonderful fragrance; but you may well use it everywhere except the beach, gym, workout and any kind of hot sweaty place)
- Compliments: 9.0 (very good, but not the best; men rate its compliment-grabbing ability with a 10 and women with an 8; dark spicy fragrances always have a bigger compliment effect on men than on women)
- Quality: 9.0 (very good quality ingredients; sturdy enough flacon but a faulty sprayer locking mechanism)
- Presentation: 10.0 (one of the best-looking bottles on the market)
- Price: 8.0 (A bit on the expensive side for a designer bottle that costs more than 45~50 Euros for the 100ml flask, but remember that you are buying a market leader)

Overall rating: 8.76/10.0
between 7 and 8 =above average;
between 8 and 9 = recommended;

My opinion: In short Man in Black has Impressive looks, an impressive spicy dark scent, acceptable performance and price. Will I buy it again? Yes for sure!
Advice: You should not miss this one. You may be able to thank me later.

I used to think this fragance was disgusting when I first smelled it, tried it on a store and didn't like it. After purchasing it on an impulse, I was very scared, but after a single spray on my skin and not a paper, it really grew on me and I absolutely love it. You can really feel the boozy, leather and tobacco with a kind of sweetness that's not overwhelming. It's a cozy acquisition for a night out with friends or dates. Really recommend it.

Old_SnakeTwitch

As a Johnny Cash fan I have to think its cool & will buy

woomanmoomin

I'd never got around to trying this until today, partly because I'm wary of fragrances with generic spice notes in case they're anywhere near the cumin kind that makes for sweaty skank. Here they are not, at least on my skin. There's a kind of lightness or sheen about the opening that makes me think of a soft-focus starscape or something--there's a contrast between these little points of light and the underlying darkness, a kind of chiaroscuro, and for what it's worth, I like it. I don't think the leather here can be particularly dark or phenolic. Anyway though, within a few minutes, I'm mostly getting what smells to me like pencil shavings and some other resinous wood. Then the sweet cherry tobacco tonka kicks in, and from then I find this similar to Burberry London for Men, a favourite of mine, and, more obscurely, to Mauboussin's Une Histoire d'Homme Irresistible, which is more suitable for spring and autumn. I'm also reminded of Dad's beloved old Brut, but not in a bad way. Man in Black would make an adequate substitute for London at least, but I don't know that I'm really in the market for one just now. I don't know whether to say I love this, because it's on the same level as London, or that I just like it, because I've smelt something similar and at least as good before.

richmilton

Spicebomb is for sheep that follow the herd.
MIB is for the lone wolf that follows nobody.

If this triggers you my point is proven.

Arber Cami

This is a nice and cozy fragrance. Opens up really spicy, dries down to a tobacco leaf, boozy, leathery, spicy fragrance - all well blended. The spiciness is similar to Spicebomb from Viktor and Rolf but with the addition of tobacco, leather and booz. Really nice fragrance.

j.andresminor

Looove it! I use it specifically on dinner special nights friends, smells like a dark amaretto orange liquor, and quite bitter and warm at the same time. Longevity on skin a few hours but in by beard face i still smelling 8 hours later. BitterSweet SemiMature sexyness. 10/10

r0sebud

a sexy, musky scent that has a yummy sour dry down that smells like a freshly-opened sharp citrus fruit and has a slight resemblance to versace man eau fraiche.

Slowpainhauer

One of the greatest creations of all time but just doesn't last as much anymore. Sadly, not worth the price as it's not going to stay on your skin for more than 3-4 hours.

Falls somewhere between MIB Orient and MIB Essence, latter being the strongest, darkest and the heaviest.

radi85

Great fragrance sweet spices with vanilla. Smells expensive and of good quality. The performance is good. Definately try if you like spicy sweet fragrances.

MsChannigan

Alberto Morillas never disappoints. His are elegant, feel-good fragrances, classic yet modern. Always beautiful and with a twist of originality, and upliftment. To me the overall effect is of leathery licorice. Very manly and sexy, but fresh at the same time.

LeSmeller

Do you know those chocolate liqueur cherries? This smells like them, at least that's the vibe I get. Cherries and tobacco. For me, there's a tad too much tobacco in the scent, otherwise it's close to perfect. If there were less tobacco, I would love it. It's smooth, suave, sophisticated, and sensual. It's very well blended, dark yet cozy. Definitely a winter/fall night fragrance.

Regarding comparisons to Spicebomb, they are similar, though Man in Black is chiller and more sensual, while Spicebomb is livelier and more upbeat. Spicebomb is like playing with your kids in fallen leaves on a sunny autumn day, and Man in Black is a like a date night. In general, I think this is decidedly better, if not for the damn tobacco. Luckily, it eases up with time. It's a story similar to Dior Homme Intense - both scents open a bit questionable and start to shine about half an hour after application. Spicebomb doesn't evolve like that - what you get initially is what you get.

Powerfully sexy. Bought this for my husband a few years back, coming across this a few years ago looking to choose a new fragrance for him. While the spray in itself can be quite strong (I tried spraying on a t-shirt of his I was wearing, it was too much - don't try that) on a man's skin it smells sexy and sophisticated.
This definitely gives me a 'hot, mysterious guy in a nice dark suit' vibe...

ShanerD

Beautiful . Dark, sexy, gourmand, leather and Tonka, with boozy notes. Solid choice for a date night fragrance, or special occasions where you want to feel refined. Alberto Morillas does not miss. Wear during winter or fall, preferably during night time. Good luck pulling this off during spring/summer. Performance is slightly above average. Decent projection and sillage, with 5-7 hours longevity on my skin.

There comes a time in a cologne enthusiast's life when he is ready to make the leap.

No more flimsy boxes that flop down like your erection reacting to "Golden Girls" reruns.

No more bottles that slide around your dresser like a Vaseline-coated Drew Carey trying to spin the big wheel.

No more sprayers that feel like a $70 French prostitute is peeing on your neck.

When this time comes, you want a certain cologne. Bvlgari's "Man in Black" is not it.

First of all, "Man in Black" has nothing to do with Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones. If it was associated with Will, it might be the first cologne that, once slapped on, slaps you back.

Second, the tonka bean in "Man in Black" is insane. Have you ever been in a prison shower orgy with giant tonka beans? If so, this scent will bring back memories! This tonka bean makes you its bitch -- and you like it! Prepare to get tonked, big guy!

Fragrantica trolls aren't trolling when they compare "Man in Black" to the ill-conceived DeForest Kelley-Antonio Banderas collaboration "Cranky Seduction." It's about as wearable as fiberglass insulation trousers. If you want to take flak, wear "Man in Black"!

RileyB

This scent definitely reminds me of spicebomb but it’s less playful and a bit dryer with that big bang of leather in with the boozy spiciness. The slightly more formal leather with a touch of iris powderiness isn’t a bad thing though because it makes MIB more versatile than spicebomb both in occasions worn and seasons it can reach into. I read below some people even wear this in summer, and yes that doesn’t surprise me. It’s capable because the leathery iris aspect keeps the spices and booze tamed enough. I personally prefer it in cooler weather though, I get what I want from it during those seasons. I also especially like layering it side by side with the likes cherry tobacco scents to throw in a bit more complexity (layering with Mason Alhambra Hercules as I write this) but suspecting it would also layer great with other leathery type scents that are searching for some spices to be added. Maybe even boozy scents searching for the same. All in all its a solid buy for its versatility though, both on its own and for those mixing it up with other scents.

Fabean

This is a spicer Spicebomb. With Spicebomb I get more sweetness but this is shaper. Spice, leather and tonka are so prominent on my skin. As it drys down, it becomes more similar tho. Doesn't project much or last too long on me but the smell is really nice. I'd say cool weather but because it's pretty spice, it might work for slightly warmer weather too. Great scent profile which I wish would perform better.

Orangeboom999

I love this. Sexy, spicy, date night with the missus. A nice meal, followed by dancing and a cocktail or two. Makes me feel suave and powerful. A bonefied triumph

The smelly scientist

Not sure how I never reviewed this one since it’s one of my favorites I have. It’s a cool weather scent that is very leathery and I get alot of dark chocolate as well. That masculine darkness is balanced by amber and iris that gives it a slight powdery sweetness. Smells like a black tie event in a very expensive home with rich leather furniture and dark hardwood floors

monsieur.moustache

Given the scent profile on this, I thought I would like it much more than I do. I am rating a decant so there's always the chance that it's been adulterated in some fashion.

That said, from my experience, this is a smooth, bland, anodyne, office-friendly fragrance. Longevity is decent but projection is horrible. Overall a "meh" fragrance.

My signature winter's choice
I can write an essay talking abt how it blew my mind when I wore it for the 1st time
but lemme make it concise

This is man's warrior mode fragrance
Suit up, dress it down, gel your hair, and attack your target
It is a confident boosting elixir with maturity & testosterone
NOT FOR KIDS

It's not bold enough, rather subdue, stilled down, prudent image evoking juice
but that's the beauty of it. The silent harbinger type of man, not agressive but assertive, speaks louder than words.
and at the same time, classy.

Cinnamon like opening with screechy bitter rum kicking in
quickly supported by leathers and tonka bean
and foggy accent of tobbaco smearing all around
and howly Jesus, THIS STUFF IS PROFESSIONAL

It is kinda sweet but never cloying. If a weather is okay, u can even pull this up in summer.
Sweet, but not cloying, and tasty.
Bvlgari makes some serious stuff here

This is Boss, chairman, negotiator's choice
This is how a man's perfume should be done. High-end quality stuff.

fragrantlyenhanced

its nice. opening is anise, cinnamon infused rum and unlit cigar nosed upclose. the tabacco lingers a bit into the dry down. a dominant thick raw hide with a slight powdery iris touch pushes thru mostly. great combo. its ever so slightly sweet, vanilla. with a warm creamy / musty wood base. i like it but not for me.

MadameMerola

I bought this perfume for my husband in April and it was a blind buy. As soon as he sprayed it, I knew I was going to be wearing this perfume because I absolutely love the opening notes. I am a woman in my mid 40s and I pull off this scent beautiful with a layer of gourmand perfume oil. It has become my husband’s go to scent and he is in his mid 50s and works in construction as an Architect and smells great on him.

The scent does become spicier and woodsy at the dry note and it’s fine. But my love lies with the top note. Can be worn anytime of the day and in a hot climate without being offensive.

mint_on_

woody spicy wonderful scent. arguably NOT too masculine and can be worn by many people and come off pretty feminine!! (personal experience)

Hoofhearted74

Amazing scent, if only it lasted longer.

LeatherCouch

This is a nocturnal beast. A mysterious man with a black shiny leather jacket, slicked hair, sunglasses and black leather boots. Imagine him surrounded by attractive women and then f*** them in sensual dark rooms, under the aesthetically intoxicating purple light. The fumes of dark leather, lipsticky iris and boozy wet tobacco leave a dangerous trail behind.

_hypnotic_

Does anyone know when was the first change in formula of this? Cos it's definitely worlds apart what they're selling today compared to the old 2016 bottle that i have, before the reformulation, i just don't know when it exactly happened, 2017, 2018 or later?

B180

If you want to smell expensive get this one.
It has great performance. Great formal, great late night date scent in cooler weather.

xillage

This is Subtle, Dark, Powdery, Little Sweet. More sophisticated than Spicebomb which is more playful and sweet. This on the other hand is perfectly balanced, neither too dark nor bright. It sails in the mid-range. With the waves of Iris, Leather, Powdery notes and Spices one after another.

8.5/10

caffeinatedpony

Super spicy and tobacco-rich. When it dries, there is a strong blast of black pepper. Really good for a nice dinner, or a night out with friends. Good buy for cold seasons, but could work during spring.

ShaneL02

75ml give or take left in a bottle up for swap. In the UK. Loved this scent when I first got it, but I've sort of gone off it now.

NotAnEqualizer

I bought this fragrance because I'm a fan of tobacco and liquor notes. I thought this fragrance was going to be darker based on the scent profile. It's actually sweeter and lighter than I expected.

I do get the tobacco and liquor notes in the openings. The liquor note is weak, however. The tobacco note is very good.

One of the reasons I dislike this fragrance is that it smells quite generic in a boring way. I feel like this scent is designed to win the battle at the retail store counter on test strips. It's a quick first impression or tease.

My biggest complaint is longevity and weak projection. Maybe it's the batch that I got, but I'm absolutely certain it's not my nose. Not even my date smelled it on me, and she was on my skin. I tested it on shirts, and the smell was gone after only a couple of hours. This fragrance is easily the worst performer in my collection.

cho-ku-rei

The pros and cons tables above sum this one up well.

It seems a pleasant, if generic, even mainstream kind of fragrance to me; unobjectionable, even despite the slightly synthetic smell. I'm not sure why this is considered "polarizing" (if it in fact is, and that isn't some weird reverse psychology-style marketing hype). It seems quite safe, slightly bland, "commercial", etc.

Am inclined to agree with Guest2563's verdict.

ZiadAlzeni

Got this about 2 months ago as a blind buy, at first I didn't like it all as I thought it was too mature and kinda smelled like a church to me but after about a month it started growing on me and I fell in love with the rum tobacco and spicy smell which dries down into a more sweet smoky really enjoyable fragrance.
I think it's a really nice fragrance to wear in around fall and winter I spray around 3-4 sprays which last 3 hours with projection and 3 more hours without projection on my skin.
Although it's a really nice fragrance I wouldn't recommend it much to younger people as it fits a more mature man, but is one of my favorite rum fragrances.

mrperq

Opens up with a blast of rum and blended peppery spices. In a matter of minutes the rum becomes less prominent and hides below the spices. Sweetness is not absent, but compared to most in the genre I dont feel like this is a sweetness bomb. There's also a note in this I typically strongly dislike in fragrances, but nuanced and balanced like this smells really really nice. Not sure what it is. This has iris listed but I dont get iris at all. This is verry versatile and wearable for most occasions, maybe with the exception of high heat. It does come best in its own in cold or fall-like weather though. It is grown up, not sure this would suit young folks.

I love this kind of DNA and within its DNA, its one of my favorite smells. Delicious yet unapologetically masculine. It reminds me of Burberry London, another favorite of mine. This is more refined though (at a higher cost). I truely love this. Sadly, depending on weather, it does not seem to last long on skin.

One thing to note, I must admit the first time I smelled it I felt kinda meh about it. Not sure why. Back then I preferred London over it, but over time I changed my mind and I do prefer this. Both are absolutely great though. It was one of the first things I smelled, my nose might have matured. Most woman I know do like it on first sniff.

erik8

Great scent, but very weak performance.

TheGilbs1027

If you wished Spicebomb Extreme was more formal and more mature, this is the scent for you. Tobacco, vanilla, booze, spice. Easily one of my most complimented fragrances when matching its style. This is a cool and cold weather star. Pair it with a suit, tux, or a dressed up outfit for an intimate evening event, and you’ll be turning heads all night. I wore this to a semi-formal event in January and was getting compliments from women and men. I’ve been told “You smell nice” or “Whatever you are wearing is great” many times before, but Man in Black got me more than a few “You smell incredible”. I would not advise buying without sampling first, as it is very dark and rich and won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but is definitely worth the buy if you have smelled it and like it. Also, it isn’t super hyped, so it’s a great scent to smell great and unique at the same time.

Evan Massey88

This is just so good…the rum and tobacco with the leather and spices makes this one of -if not the best- winter and fall fragrances out there. I’m ready for summer fragrances, but boy will I miss wearing this for a while. Every once in a while I’ll spray it in the air just to smell it. Along with Aqva, this is easily one of the best bvlgari scent profiles.

Bvlgari man in black for me is between love and hate.I love this fragrance when I don't wear that one very often.I hate this one when i am wearing this everyday. This perfume does give me sweet tobacco and rum note.It blends too well that sometimes make me alittle bit nauseating yet smells so good. The performance is very poor.It is such a waste that people cant smell u althought it smells very nice.It can be a personal fragrance you can use as your mood enhancer. If you are a fan of a beast fragrance, this will
upset you.But you can still smell it on urself after u have worn it.

Apache1830

Well blended, very nice frag, smells like a wealthy men. I usually hate tobacco, but here it's delicious.
Unfortunately, on my decant, longevity AND sillage are weak...

Guest2563

It's ok. a bit too safe and flat. like something written by chatgpt.

jlog23

This smells exactly like the notes listed. It is beautifully blended and comes off sophisticated and mature. Mature meaning a guy that has his shit together, not an old man. Projection and longevity are sub-par but not awful. I feel a calming aura around me when I wear this.

Dumbplings

People think this smells like spicebomb extreme...I think it smells more like CH men prive. I hate spicebomb extreme it's too boring and just smells like cola. This smells like leather, rum, vanilla so basically CH men prive

great-heart-9

What a fragrance, Alberto as always did a great job. I'm addicted to this perfume.

Scent-Freek-287

I’ve never seen someone diss something so much and talk negative about it then say they like it and it’s good like @jeaq did. This definitely doesn’t smell like an ashtray or a sleeping tavern or whatever terrible analogies he used. It’s warm and sophisticated and definitely a scent for MEN not boys.

Oleo

Well, it's time to review the hype for this fragrance - which is not the same as reviewing the fragrance itself -. What usually happens in these cases is that people don’t dare to contradict the opinion and the effect that four famous YouTubers have generated - regardless of fragrance profile - .

The first thing to keep in mind is that MiB is a good fragrance - don't get me wrong - but within this category, it isn’t a “people-pleaser“:

The scent isn’t very original and not very versatile… projection is bad, sillage is minimal and it has poor longevity. However, the most curious thing about the fragrance is that - and totally against the hype created by these YouTubers - normal people don’t usually like it: And I say it very clearly, because I’ve received several negative opinions and none positive:

This is the reality with MiB based on my experience, not a test on paper. Clear as water.

It’s a fragrance with the imprint of a down-and-out gentleman who has been sleeping drunk in the office for a week because his wife kicked him out of the house. You should know that although this reminds you of the protagonist of Mad Men, doesn’t mean that it’s a seductive scent. Make no mistake.

That being said, I don't dislike the fragrance at all… but I certainly can't recommend it; especially for the public that buys the most, who are newbies looking for a fragrance for romantic dates.

This scent is not safe, and - at least in my country - it’s more likely to cause rejection than the opposite. Sure. I don't know how many girls these “phenomenal YouTubers” meet weekly and how many they date, but I’m very sure of what I am talking about.

Also, it's a difficult fragrance to apply: four sprays and they have to put their noses in your neck to smell it, but six leaves a projection - only quart and a half - with a strong smell that makes it seem like you've come out of sleeping in a tavern. And if it gets on your clothes, it also leaves that sillage of an ashtray and stale rum… pure seduction, I can tell you.

Look, this is a good release for style aficionados and maybe their wives, used to smelling a lot of different things -and for members of Alcoholics Anonymous, too -, but not for a newbie young man who wants to make a good impression on a first date.

Having clarified this, the fragrance is not bad at all. It's true; trust me, darling… So:

- Waiter, give me a light and another spray of “Man in Black”. :-)

MK_Fraghead696

No matter how much I love this kind of scent profiles, performance is weak on my skin. After one hour it becomes skin scent and people around me did not smell it on me.Atomiser is also not great. Will never get this again coz it doesn’t perform on my skin.I’m sure this works on others.

Swavey

I own a lot of fragrances that are vanilla and spice sort of scents and I decided to cop this anyway cuz i heard amazing things. This is an actual masterpiece. I am a huge spicebomb fan and this knocks it out of the park. I got this fragrance and I have been wearing it almost every day now because it’s just such an amazing blend of spices and booze. For the old man comments, keep in mind i’m 16 and i’m getting compliments by multiple different age groups around me which honestly proves how versatile this really is age wise and how much of a pleasant scent it becomes in the air. Definately buy this, strong performance I had people complaining over 3 sprays 4 hours into wearing it so definitely don’t overdo it but this fragrance is strong, amazing smelling and just a masterpiece. Buy it 10/10

smellsbells

love this stuff...dark yet thick and sexy. The rum is a dark rum and its similar to varvatos dark rebel to me but smoother and lasts way longer

Scentsibilities

This is honestly one of the best smelling dark fragrances but it is let down by moderate performance. Not weak but not what this profile should be wish their was a potent alternative to this this is like 2 frags in 1.Its got elements of Dior Homme Parfum+Spicembomb Extreme+Dark Rebel Rider if this was a strong performer it would be game over.

Edit:Longevity is good but projection is moderate if anyone knows a beastmode version of this available please let me know.Montale Oud Dream smells exactly like Honey Aoud not this so that's not a niche solution

okdaniel

Am I the only one that gets Herod vibes with this?? I’m confused that it’s not compared more.

ShaneL02

I used to love this fragrance but man, I don't know what the hell happened with the fragrance but im seriously going off it. For one this stuff smells literally watered down. This honestly smells like 40 percent MIB 60 percent water. It smells like there's like a watery note in here, no idea where it's from. It's so weak, lasts about 3-4 hours with intimate projection. This is basically a skin scent you're paying for, keep that in mind. Annoying atomizer, as someone said you have to press the spray down hard and quickly to get a good distribution, otherwise it squirts. Bottle is sorta goofy looking but does look pretty cool. I got this fragrance in a gift set which came with a deodorant stick which unironically smells better and is alot stronger lol

Dark and mysterious. 10/10

Anyone in the UK interested in a 100ml bottle of 'Man Black Orient' (95% full)?

djigoio

Wow.

Smells amazing, develops well, spices, leather, wood, Iris+tonka creamy combo... Lovely scent in all its ways. Performs wells, sillage adeacuate for what I think this one is made:

Formal occasions, dates, close-up encounters. Definetly not what I'd choose for Nightlife. A bit classy, but doesnt feel old.

On the bad side, the spray is terrible, most of the times first spray is like the bottle is pissing instead of difussing lol. Also, versatility; this one feels like the one you'd just take for special ocassions at night.

If you know TF, this one feels like Bvlgari take on TF Noir extreme. Spicebomb for grown-ups, spiced DHI

Edit: Bought it because it was on sale. No regrets. Also, the bottle is beautiful, kind of a ceramic-like touch to it. Also the diffuser seems better? Batch from 2022 October. Performance seems its gonna be mid/long, sillage is just moderate.

Edit 2: Ended up as a good performer (around 8h), also noticeable but not loud, specially if you spray on clothes. Would not recommend more than 3 sprays, specially for closed spaces. Leather + spices + rum + tobacco turns annoying when it's too much.

As said before, not the best option if you want it to stand out:
- 3-4 sprays = good for close encounters but won't be super noticeable for who's not near
- 4-5 sprays = Can get kinda annoying because of the strong notes it has. Specially if it's hot / you are in a closed space.
There's no middle point imho.

Jotica

Only thing i dislike on this one is the tuberose but i still like this fragrance i hate tuberose they did it right here dark fragance lovely leather well blended with the spices very masculine

rasquinho

A composition that definitely takes a while to understand and get used to - honestly I think that Spicebomb is much more approachable and easily worn than this. Every element of MIB is darker than Spicebomb - the leather more rustic, the tobacco partially smoked, the wood darker in colour, the spices more pungent, and all soaked in rum. My sample is growing on me as I experience it more - a great one to try out if you're multiple years into the hobby, and very much at the higher end of complexity and depth for a designer.

Mhthefragrancelover

Man, upon the initial spray, it makes the air near my nose smell like chai tea and tobacco/alcohol 🥰. I love the spices, and in general this scent is amazing. I just wish that it lasted longer and projected louder. Imagine this with a higher perfume oil concentration 😱. I'd say this would probably be my top 5 of all time. I'd say it's definitely best for late cool evenings, though I personally think you could pull it off almost anytime of year, without it seeming awkward, or cloying. Just be careful spraying too much in the heat. I could see the heat bringing this scent out very nicely with just 2-3 sprays. Beautiful warm, spicy, masculine scent that should please almost anyone. 8/10

Highly sophisticated and worthy of appreciation because of the olfactory structure it boasts, and also because of the great versatility it can provide when used in different periods and environments, ditto! Worth every penny Bvlgari Man In Black!

The opening is rustic, the smell of a powerful male who is well dressed and inside a semi-formal environment where fine drinks and bitter content are served, potent drinks that perfume the environment with a characteristic aroma of distilled herbs, added to a spice of woods vivid and more heavy smoke, sweetened, full-bodied that in addition to being heated, cooled by the mild climate of the environment.

Masterly drying of temperate flowers, dusted with a raw touch of geisha powder that becomes far from feminine due to a raw leather jacket styled like the Golden Goose Leather Bomber that perfumes the entire environment when they are worn. Very cool and interesting to still notice in this environment all the bitterness of the initial drinks, the smell of smoke and luxurious herbal!

After centuries of evolution on the skin, it manages to become even more interesting with the resinous and sweet notes of Benzoin, which form a completely complete, organized and notorious halo that as you move it exudes an aroma of luxury clothes. master brand! I love the scent of woody Tonka that it emanates in its last breaths, yes, it ends sweetly and with nuances of sweet woods! I have this jewel, in case it profiles the perfumes you have to make you feel special!

Bgraber1

This one has a weird spray nose that you have to press really hard and fast to get any width to the spray. It has a very pleasant Amber, Tobacco, Rum a floral aroma. I like it but just wished the bottle functioned better.

minhoEK3

I had decant of it for like a year and now i caught one for incredible price.
Its beatiful scent, opening spicy warm, tobacco and rum but for me drydown is where its at. Great Iris note when i have it on hand i keep smelling it from time to time that nice buttery iris with touch of vanilla and leather. When i got it and first few times i had it on me i smelled similarites to DHI and i didnt know what it is and then i checked it here that its have iris in note breakdown(but they are definately not the same just that iris/leather combo is present but not too makeupbaggy:) ) . I dont like overly vanilla heavy winter scents but this is amazing just right amount of ingredients. Alberto Morillas is genius! All of the fragrances that i have that he created are awesome(for me as frag newbie maybe not for niche lovers).
I dont like to talk about performance and all that because its very subjective, but for me i would say very good about 8 hours but performs for like 1-2 hours then more close to the skin but it is case in most of designer fragrances which I like .I dont wanna be that "cologne guy" and choke everyone in a room and have everyone know that iam wearing cologne:)
Events or places to which this is appropriate? Idk i wore it to dentist and to shopping mall. Just because youtubers gonna say this is black tie / suit or whatever date fragrance that doesnt mean i wont wear it casually(i wore suit like 5 years ago so i wouldnt be able to reach for it? hah). But for season yeah winter/fall maybe cold spring/summer nights.
I would also like to try OG Spicebomb i might try decant of it to see how close they are.

Rory75

Rich boozy and woody scent. Used to wear this a lot during colder days, always got compliments. Would definitely match it with a tux

Invasionbg

I've got a 2019 batch of this one. Great stuff... This is insane. So glad it doesn't get as much hype on YouTube so not everyone is wearing it.
Simply masterpiece, hope it hasn't been reformulated because this is a must for every perfume lover. If you like spices, tobacco, leather, booze plus some balsamic feel and a touch of buttery iris then try this one.

MrSpengler

Short review: rum, tobacco, leather... my hype was big, but it dissapointed me. It's not bad, it's just too sweet for me (worse, because of the heavy spice, it's almost cloying, but in the fragrance's defence, I'm really far from the sweet end of things). I don't doubt it might be liked by a lot of girls, so guys, if you like it, my humble advice/guess is to wear it on a special (or not, haha), cool-weather night date.

Overall: not bad, but far from being my cup of tea.

ScentDragon

One of the best fragrances in my collection, including niche. This one makes me happy. Beautiful boozy and tobacco fragrance. It's soft and classy IMO. I work from home so I don't get to dress up, but for me, I'd rock this with a suit and tie in the office. Excellent, excellent, excellent. As far as performance, this one lasts 7-8 hours for me. I really don't know what some of the other people are smelling when they complain about it. Glad to have two bottles of this one.

Chrisantonios

Captain Odour

Probably one of the best ‘bang for your buck’ fragrances out there right now.

Don’t believe me? Take a look at the many fragrance reviewers and collectors who have bottles numbering in the hundreds going out to buy a second bottle of this stuff because they’re nearly out of it. If you have any more than a couple fragrances, leaving a significant dent in a bottle is no easy feat. And yet, Man in Black is often right up there on the ‘I would buy this again’ lists we’re all, quite frankly, getting tired of.

So is it worthy of the high, high praise it receives? Well, to answer that question, I’m going to need to direct your attention to a misconception that’s extremely prevalent in the fragrance community. I’d wager that many people reading this review are (or were) guilty of thinking this way, and I’m no exception. More expensive does NOT equal better. When you have a collection that includes fragrances that cost two, three, four hundred dollars… it’s easy to fixate on them exclusively because, well, we have to justify the expenditure somehow. For every single person that venerates ‘cheapies’ and makes them the backbone of their collection, there’s another who’ll turn their nose up in disgust. How does that relate to Man in Black? Well. See above. People who own thousands of dollars worth of fragrances love this stuff and, in an ultimate compliment, may even commit the cardinal sin of wearing it two or more days in a row.

How would I describe the scent? It’s dark. I suppose the name fits, huh? I mostly get leather, rum and spices out of it. That works just fine for me, because they’re notes I absolutely love. I will say that this fragrance isn’t necessarily going to take you on a scent journey. It’s relatively linear, but that’s alright. Not every fragrance needs to be a transcendent experience. This is a nice, classy, versatile fragrance that gets attention without screaming for it. It’s a pleasant departure from the modern, citrus/fresh DNA and, since it won’t necessarily break the bank, it’s a fragrance you can wear freely. Thumbs up, Bvlgari. This is a future classic.

Johnnyboy123

Awful performance Can’t these perfumers make anything that performs anymore?

Pilaz38

This was the first fragrance in my collection. It was a blind buy and I loved it straightaway. Went on a wedding party and I only received compliments. Top quality fragrance. It was a good value back then. Now they are selling around $110 in my country

80s Joe

Do not like this one. It smells like candy and has a bad after smell to me. It's not strong or spicy as I hoped it would be - just, no :(

saikura

@DJM maybe, i recently got the gift set and its most likely a 2022 batch but i actually haven't sprayed the bottles i bought yet, only the sample vial mostly. And you're right, after like 10 hours i can smell it but only if i dig my nose into my arm, i feel like it's going to be hard for other to smell it, since the sillage is very moderate, most likely when i start using the full sized bottle i'll respray every 4h, it could be my skin but im not the only one noticing that performance on this is kind of laid back. Long lasting, yes 6-10 hours, but sillage very weak and projection only 1h. Skin scent mostly, thats why i advise to respray. Overall I love the scent though, just wish performance could be better, doubt its my skin but it could be a small factor, i'll try to apply it on top of moisturizer next time.

DJM

@Saikura Maybe this is just not suited for your skin type. This is a heavy hitter for me and always has been. I get 10+ hours of this. This has to be my longest lasting fall and winter scent. I come home after a 9-10 hour shift and can still smell it as if I just applied it. And this is with no more than 3 sprays.

Either that or it has been reformulated for it to perform so poorly on you

saikura

This fragrance suits someone who is mature, masculine, professional, black suit type of fragrance. This is something that Lucifer from the show Lucifer would wear. Very similar to spicebomb extreme with a twist of boozy notes. One thing I can say that may be disappointing from this is because the performance is just ok. Lasts maybe about 6-7 hours on the skin usually, but after hour of spraying it almost becomes a skin scent from there, spray generously with this, maybe at least 5 sprays, and reapply every 4 hours if you'd like. Overall very masculine kind of scent, just wish the performance was better.

ooo_that_smell

One word, classy. This reminds me of a black suit event, or a moderately formal event with black suit, white shirt, top button undone.. simply eludes class.

ismellsomething

Got 2 compliments from female and one from male friend, but I dont like it at all. :(
Smell reminds me of painful experience with hot chili peppers and it reminds me of having pain in stomach.
After 4h on skin I start to like it.

eriksimon

Lovely stuff. But what’s the deal with Bvlgari pretending like they’ve gone out of business, or half of their employees are still out on Covid hiatus, so they can’t resume production? ~100ml used to be readily available at discounters for $40-$45 usd no more than two years ago. It was often mentioned as a more affordable (albeit quite different) alternative to Spicebomb. If Spicebomb (~100ml) can still be had for $70 usd at discounters in ‘22, there’s no reason MIB should be flying off digital shelves at $100.

JL2271

Really nice fragrance. In the same family as Spicebomb, 1899, Rehab etc , but it has another to side to it. I feel like the way Iris is used here balances everything and adds a little bit of a floral quality. Alberto Morillas knows how to create scents that are going to be really hard to dislike even if you want to. My issue with this one is it’s weak in projection, duration etc. It is most definitely not a powerful scent.

MsAd89

Without a doubt, a fragrance to consider if you like spicy scents. The spices are very noticeable in this creation but they are not annoying on the nose, the mixture with the rum, the leather, the benzoin, the iris is very well combined, I also notice it in the background but it does not turn it into a powdery scent. Do not buy blindly due to its cost and test on the skin.

La Nuit Noir

Sweet & mysterious cold weather fragrance!

Immediately stands out as a better version of the V&R Spicebomb Extreme DNA. I find Armani Code Absolu is already a better take on this type of fragrance than V&R SE but this goes beyond that as well.

What sets it apart is this Tom Ford Black Orchid element to it! I think it's from the overall blend of tobacco, rum, & spices, but the tuberose really adds some sweetness & mystery to it. There's also a slight hint of iris which just cleans everything up a bit and makes it neat and smooth.

This is an overlooked gem that eclipses much more hyped scents.

E.L.2002

Skin scent that smells just ok. Can't recommend.

Scent 5/10
Performance 4/10
Versatility 7/10

Aditya chatterjee

Masterpiece creation by alberto morillas. It will always in top 10 alpha man fragrance📈. Needless to say best winter and fall fragrance till date(for rum, tobacco, oud lover). It will give the vibes of night out hangout with your loved one, macho and standout from the crowd

Pros: smoth blended spicy , upto 8hrs logivity, attention graber.🖤🖤🖤

Cons: nothing till date ,just grab and enjoy it, top most blind buy fragrance.😎👍🏻

D&gredcap

On my the staying power is great - I think anything with TONKA stays forever on my skin for some reason.
My friend tried my bottle and it is almost all leather in him. It can easily be a feminine scent also

boogidybangpow

Im not understanding the HYPE that this one receives. Beautiful smelling fragrance but the performance is terrible. Projects maybe an hour, after that its a skin scent for maybe another hour and then its gone. you may be able to get another hour out of it if you spray it on your clothes. Definitely not worth the $100+ price tag. I dont even think its worth $50 with this weak performance. Love the opening, but after that first hour its gone. Fine something else to spend your money on people.

HYLAS

Distinctive and debonair are two words I would use to describe Man in Black.

At first I was greeted by bold, boozy dark fruits like plum and black cherry, a sensation akin to stepping into an orchard of slightly overripe fruit. A heady tincture of spice-heavy iris follows, though this mellows with the dry-down, turning the iris note soft and the spice powdery, until you're left with an intimate, smoky vanilla.

The iris definitely makes Man in Black what it is – a suave and understated fragrance for someone looking for a more unique scent. It’s dark and enticing, and certainly a stand-out among louder, more mainstream offerings.

My only disappointment is the longevity which, for an eau de parfum, is a little miserly. With a semi-regular top up, however, this is sure to draw interest.

Akos89

Nice cold weather night time scent for dates and formal occasions. But the projection is very low, it's only intimate, so if you find this too expensive for you then it will be a disspointment. I bought a used 30ml bottle, so I'm ok with it...

Roburrito

Really enjoy this scent, it just doesn’t last on me but it is beautiful. Found the essence version-that lasts a lot longer, although it’s slightly different. Liked essence enough that I have a back up bottle

market$$

Oh man, this perfume is great. The iris was there the whole time it lasted. Woody, slightly sweet, iris and the boozy note makes it a good fragrance. I'm no expert in fragrances, but this seems like the perfect combo for a cold autumn/winter situation, especially in the evening. Lasts around 10 hours on my skin, but mileage may vary. Sillage is a good 3 hours, but after that it's a skin scent. But this has no right to be loud, since it doesn't have the "Hey look at me, I have my Gucci shoes on and my Nike Tech outfit on and I'm ready to hookup with girls!" vibe, but instead it has the "Wanna get to know me? Come closer..." vibe. Very elegant parfum, you need to learn how to wear this and in which situation. I personally can't use it day to day. Price is not excellent, paid 70€ for a 60ml bottle, but for an occasional parfum it's acceptable.

richmilton

Best tobacco ever in men's cologne. It's like opening a wooden box of freshly rolled Cuban cigars. On my wife this would be a turn off..m on a dude it's purely masculine. If that hurts your feelings too bad!

Adri.p1000

Bvlgari waiting for extrait or Elixir of this
With better performance and silage

Please 🙏

Sullii

Great scent, I always get complimented on it.

Price is Meh...

But it honestly has one of the worst atomizers ever... Sometimes I get a nice burst, and sometimes it comes out in a stream

Erensworld

Absolute beautifull, sweet womanizer. Had the edp but still the performance and sillage is not that special good.
Smell itself is definitly a 8/9. I wish it was from a high end luxery brand so that people appreciate it more. This perfume must at least have the same popularity as dior home intense and sauvage.
Alberto morillas masterpiece.

ColoradoCouloir

I was super curious to see how similar this was to Spicebomb and the opening blast is extremely similar, although not identical. BMIB has some additional notes and some notable sweetness from the rum. But the similarity is easily apparent.
Having said that, the two fragrances are built different and go down different paths after the opening. BMIB is much more subtle and comes across more mature. The tobacco here is more naturalistic and the iris works in a supporting role with the other notes. It does enter the drydown rather quickly and the remaining skin scent is fairly subtle, but ultimately sophisticated.
*edit - Layering this with SBE has become my new cold weather date night fragrance and frankly it lasts longer and performs better than expected in that situation. I’m sure the wine helped but it received the seal of approval.
Side note - I love the flacon. The nozzle twist feels cheesy but the stone finish of the bottle looks and feels incredible. Dig the whole presentation.
Recommended for all cool weather uses where subtly and class is preferred.

marialena888m

A drydown of baby powder, a tiny pinch of allspice, and a wooden box of unlit cigars sitting on a brown leather couch. A dry scent with a sweetness that is subtle and addictive. Rum only makes a brief appearance at the start. It’s brilliant. Man in Black is sophisticated, seductive, smooth and so delicious it makes you want nuzzle in. It has depth and mystery while simultaneously being cozy, clean and inviting. Perfect fall/winter signature scent for men over 35. Also will work as a formal/evening/date-night scent for men 25-35. I imagine handsome DILFs, silver foxes, and suave corporate types rocking this one. Longevity is moderate (5-6 hours), good projection for the first 2-3 hours then turns into a skin scent. I’m a woman and I even love it on my skin.

A. Bayraktar

Beautiful fragrance, cozy, smooth, elegant and manly.... BUT the performance, the performance is nightmare 😕

MrSerious96

Bvlgari Man in Black is an absolutely stunning fragrance that combines the masculine notes of leather, tobacco, rum, spices and mixes them seamlessly and masterfully with more sensual florals and subtle dry sweetness of the Tonka bean.

In the opening I get silky smooth leather combined with rum, tobacco, cardamom, Tonka, benzoin and black pepper that gives it an elegant, sensual and mysterious feel that exudes class and refinement.
In the mid the rum notes starts to fade away but the other notes persist for some time. In the end the florals disappear along with the leather and you are left with soft sweetness reminiscent of balmy vanilla that you get with benzoin and some dry subtle Tonka sweetness.

The richness of the opening and mid is simply divine with the interplay of masculine notes and florals. It is still very masculine, if somewhat refined and will definitely require the wearer to be dressed up more elegantly, preferably in a black suit with a tie of suitable colour (they named the fragrance perfectly). It is office safe with its medium projection that lasts reasonably well for 3-5 hours (at about arms length) and then sits closer to the skin for the rest of its stay on my skin which is around 10-12 hours. It is not a room filler and isn’t very loud. It is perfect for colder weather of autumn and winter. It can also be very wearable in the autumn and spring where the temperatures get up to 20 degrees Celsius.
The comparisons with Spicebomb EDT are fair but the rum note in Bvlgari makes all the difference along with the leather and florals.

The fragrance is a very safe blind buy since it’s so beautiful that everybody will like it at least. It’s one of my wife’s favourite from my collection.

It will go down as one of the classics and a big masterpiece of Alberto Morillas.

P.S. I must admit that I have gotten quite cold towards this fragrance which now seems rather thin, cold and uninspiring compared to some of the other fragrances that I have tried since my review. I would love it to be thicker, heavier and sweeter. Then it would become niche level.

stateff

On my skin it doesn't lasts about 10 hours. Sticks to skin even after showering. Sillage is just ok, but I love it. It is my preferred winter time fragrance. And I can only recommend it to those who appreciate spicy, boozy fragrances.

JonMaddgician

This would make a few of the Tom Ford leather range redundant in one's fragrance collection, for half the price per item IMHO... 🤷

XOXO_marcel

I bought this for my boyfriend, now fiance, a few years ago. I absolutely love it on him. It's a very dark, mysterious, alpha male sort of scent.

Carina Ferrreira

I'm a woman and I love to wear men's perfumes.
This fragrance has an imposing,
mysterious, warm, manly scent.
I must admit. I feel very confident when I use it. And it conveys a lot of seriousness.
It makes anyone turn their necks, it causes reactions, it's not an "insignificant" fragrance.
And it gets a lot of compliments!!!
This fragrance dominates, makes an impact.
Once, I was using this perfume and when I approach my co-worker, she asks me the following: "What perfume is that?????
And I tell her her name and show her a picture on my cell phone.
And she says like this: "It's to kill! Carina, this perfume is to kill! It's a hot, spicy smell!"

I didn't know what to say (I wasn't expecting to receive such a spontaneous compliment), I just smiled and thanked him.
As the day progressed, I noticed that my colleague was getting closer and closer.
And whenever we talked about something, we were practically glued to each other. Skin to skin.
I believe it would be for her to feel the scent of the perfume with greater intensity.
I must confess that on that particular day, I felt a great deal of sexual tension.

Men, try/know the fragrance. It's really worth it!!!! I recommend! It is an extremely sensual perfume.
It is a good bet for those who want to seduce.
*(I apologize if I made any spelling mistakes, I turned to the translator).

Definitely smells like a spicebomb.. i dont like it.

basicfragdude

Chuck, if you are 38 and you think this is too old for you, I think you are still hanging out at the clubs too much. This is late 20s and up

rend72

remind me to Mon Numero 10 L'Artisan Parfumeur

A. Bayraktar

Smells good, but performs awful...

Chuckt228

38 y/o. Smoother spice bomb extreme but it smells too old for me! Return..

Hectuhhhhh

Perfect for a date night during the holidays. Not loud and obnoxious like spicebomb. I think the performance is exactly how I would want a scent like this to be, seductive and not loud

AnosmiaAnosognosia

I went to the mall today to try some fragrances, and came across this one. I tried a lot of stuff, and this is the only one I asked for a sample of. It hasn't come up a crazy amount on YouTube reviews, so I didn't really have any expectations. As soon as I smelled it, I knew it was something special. Pretty much everything I have read on here (reviews) is accurate. Exquisite fragrance but the performance is utterly disappointing. I will just enjoy this sampler on my skin at home until it is gone, but I do not predict buying it, unless it;'s a trade or something like that. The performance alone is the only reason I cannot justify buying it.

candi_n_spice

My husband used a sample of this this morning, and I said, "mmm, spicy!" Yes, it does remind me of OG Spicebomb, which we also love, but it's not exactly the same, just same genre. Would be extra nice in cool weather. Very yummy, creamy, spicy, masculine.

amaroache

amazing warm spicy sweet addictive. best for cool weather. longevity isn't great. girls love it, especially 20-25 yrs. date night/ intimate frag. will linger on your shirt and bed sheets the day after, the random riffs you get while you go about for the first 2 hours are to die for. Leaves scent rial on clothing so ur girl has to reminisce the next day.

Does smell close to spciebomb. I would get both but I love that type of frag. For someone who just wants to pick between one, Bvlgari man in black is cheaper

Carl0s

A warm, spicy (herb, not pepper), masculine woodsy scent. In as few words as possible this is a mature version of Spicebomb, not as loud but will last longer especially since it’s an EDP. I can wear it all year long but personally I think winter and fall is when this scent shines the most due to low humidity in my area in those seasons. One of my favorite scents to wear.

Sully92

This is tobacco done right! Absolutely beautiful fragrance. Smooth boozy tobacco with a bit of sweetness, a touch of spice and a woody tonka and benzoin drydown.
This could have easily been released by a niche brand and it would get hyped so hard. One of the best designer tobacco fragrances money can buy.
Longevity isn't amazing but I love the scent so much I don't even care.
It is stereotypically "masculine" but to me fragrance doesn't have a gender and as a woman I will happily rock this!

pkng7x

You know what! If there is no word "Man" from the bottle I would've bought this! it is such a beautiful and strong fragrance! it's a fighter, mysterious, dark and boss like scent! Perfumers should stop putting gender labels. This can be used by a woman too! a strong independent, mysterious woman!

Imv21

I found out about this fragrance from some ads on the internet. I liked the bottle and I felt curious about it. Ordered a sample and I fell in love with the smell! Ordered it for 65£/100ml which is amazing value for the money! It doesn’t projects too much when applied on skin, but it lasts around 4+ hours, which I think is good considering the fact that I see this perfume as a date night/dinner scent. Very masculine and mysterious scent. The rum note makes it amazing for my nose and those around me. Very similar to Prada Luna Rossa Black in terms of spiciness. Overall great fragrance and I absolutely love it!

tommithekid

In the drydown it smells like a mixture of the original Spicebomb mixed with Aigner N°1 Oud (but with higher quality). I like it very much. Longevity and sillage are both very good. Can recommend it.

BallsDeepFormula

I was lucky to have bought a 2020 batch in 2022 and it still smells DAMN good. It's woody in the most perfectly blended way but you nix the chocolate type smell in there and MAN It's good stuff. If you can buy this buy it in person and check the batch code before you buy it and if it's 2020 or 2019 you'll have a NICE cologne

sagarbhavsar007

A warm spicy concoction which is definable masculine. Being a spicy and warm fragrance, it is very airy and at no point it smells heavy, oily or sticky. Very subtle sweetness, nothing cloying. dry down feels little powdery dry balanced with smooth tonka.

A good one for winter or night time. Good perfume if you want to smell manly without smelling unpleasant or overtly dark or heavy.

Performance is rather average, gives me good one when over-sprayed. Find right balance in number of sprays for this one, as too much can also be cloying.

Not for teenagers, college goers. A 30+ in my opinion. Not for someone who is a beginner and mostly like freshies.

Safe blind buy for experienced and 30+ men.

sherifhassan78

Beautifully blended. Smooth, rich and deep. I prefer this to SB or SP eau extreme by miles. Very elegant and sophisticated perfume from a legendary perfumer.

hokieguy95

Received a sample from a friend. This fragrance is very unique. A sweet but not cloying combination of spice, boozy tobacco and leather. A friend stated it smells like someone poured rum into a baseball glove. At first I found a distinct medicinal and sharp smell somewhat like what many describe as medicinal benzoine. But after approximately 30 minutes in the drydown those notes become more tame and less astringent. I cannot detect the floral iris in this that defines the fragrance as a floral scent. It's a very enjoyable fragrance, is one of my favorite scent profiles I have, and stands out to me as very original in my collection.

My major issue with Bvlgari Man in Black is the performance. After a few hours it becomes a very light skin scent. You are going to have to spray this liberally on your clothes for it to stick. I have found it will last longer on clothes. At this price point I feel like it should do better and that's a complete disappointment. This is a scent that is meant to project. Went ahead and got a full bottle because the smell is just wonderful. bit Bvlgari should do better.

Scent 10/10,
Performance 4/10,
Price 6/10.

rafaelpdelima

My favorite spice inspired fragrance.
It is mysterious, sexy, strong, and mature.
Woody, spicy and boozy - very manly.

Who do I imagine using this?

I imagine a seductive man who already lived many exciting this in his life, travelled the world and seen many things, but still has a lot to come his way. Someone from the arts or humanities. Maybe he has a gorgeous girlfriend/wife, or maybe he is a big flirt. He is focused and assertive.

It is kind of a signature scent during the colder months for me.
It is one of the top 5 in my collection.

Cannonball

Love love love this one. Rich, sophisticated winter fragrance. I get good longevity, and I cannot stop smelling myself. And the price is so good comparatively.
Blind buy it. You will not regret.
9.5/10 (not 10 due to performance)

Had a 2ml tester of this. The scent is beautiful, but the performance is not there. Projects for about an hour and the longevity on my skin is about 4 hours tops, really disappointing. Will not buy a full bottle only because of the lack in performance.

YuceEnterprises

Just sprayed this, only because I wanted to. And I cannot even think of or imagine any other scent in my brain when I smell this on myself. Beautiful how intoxicating it is. Longevity differs from day to day.

Same exact notes as Salvatore Ferrargamo oud but both blended so differently. This is a masterpiece but I love how SF oud is blended!

First designer that left me speechless. Tobacco is very strong and it hides the iris, but iris was not even necessary in this blend ( my thoughts). Performance is slightly less but the smell compensates the drawback. Sheer perfection in a bottle when it comes to making winter suited profile that is non sweet yet so spicy and delicious. What a blend! What a blend! Beware as it is one of the most faked bottles, get an original and your mind will be blown.
