Serpent Bohème by Boucheron is a Chypre Floral fragrance for women. Serpent Bohème was launched in 2020. The nose behind this fragrance is Anne Flipo. Top notes are Mandarin Orange and Black Currant; middle notes are Turkish Rose, Jasmine Sambac and Desert Rose; base notes are White Musk, Patchouli, Sandalwood and Labdanum.

The house of Boucheron is launching a new fragrance Serpent Bohème, named after a collection of gold and diamond jewelry dedicated to the iconic Boucheron snake, a protective animal and a symbol of eternity.

Perfumer Anne Flipo wanted to convey freedom of movement and thought, and the thirst for life through a multi-layered and glamorous composition of floral, musky and chypre notes.

Top notes: mandarin, black currant
Heart: Turkish rose, sambac jasmine, desert rose
Base: labdanum, patchouli, white musk, sandalwood

Boucheron Serpent Bohème is available as a 30, 50 and 90 ml Eau de Parfum.

Tested it and Loved it’s femininity, freshness and versatility. Loved the elegant bottle too. Too bad the scent was gone way too soon.

D@ne

This smells very similar to Armani Sì - a black currant-rose. They differ in the drydown, but it's hardly the star of the show for either. In that sense, it also reminds me of this perfumer's other cute floral, Armani Because it's You. Either way - derivative.

Beautiful bottle, durable, attractive fragrance. But Sì did it first and everyone wore it, and for 2020, too late. Kind of like this review.

Update - this is much more subtle than Sì. If you find Sì a bit loud (for work perhaps), this is more subtle, more citrusy, woodier, and less overtly floral (aside from the topnote). I quite enjoy it, as I'm a Sì fan, and it fits in with my "work wardrobe" of subtle, office-friendly scents. Also the bottle is just so beautiful.

Great and gentle, on my skin it's quite refreshing, I can feel it all day. reminds me a lot of boss jour

AnastasiaGostieva

Pleasant light fruity chypre with very soft texture. Watery fruity of a musky base with s touch of patchouli. Very well balanced fragrance. Tender snd feminine. It smells like many other perfumes, but still lovely.

The patchouli is the problem here for me... it is ruin the balance, a mess maker...
I will sell my pretty bottle as fast I can in spring.

SalinasL

Punchy rose right off the bat. Patchouli too. I feel an impending sourness in the rose and I dread it. But it just hangs there, always impending without fully arriving. Then a faint smoky warmth pokes through at the edges, like the kind vetiver can sometimes have. Then everything feels more in balance; the rose softens, the patchouli/labdanum is almost like a smooth warm incense. The slight sourness now seems to come from the currants, but they add a dark juiciness as well. I think I would love this if it had more smokiness. Overall, I kind of like it, and there’s something in it that I find different and interesting, but I’m content with only a sample vial for now.

Serpent Bohème was launched in August 2020, when the world was still bitter from the COVID-19 pandemic. In Brazil, it arrived in 2021 and suffered from the slow process of resuming imports and the low disclosure of luxury items, such an unemployment rate.

The concept brings back the beauty of the serpent, as we see in the name, whose jewelry collection – created in 1968 – was born from a necklace that Frédéric Boucheron gave his wife, in 1888, for his birthday. Who remembers the snake that adorned the lid of Trouble's bottle?

This time, the elements of the serpent are more explicit, and its golden scales are engraved on the box and also on the bottle. The design is very reminiscent of one of the beautiful rings from the Serpent collection, by Boucheron.

What a beautiful fragrance! It touches the skin with all the ammoniac beauty of blackcurrant and the freshness of mandarin while positioning itself as delicate and elegant from the very first moments. It doesn't take long for the beauty of the rose to begin to exude, here reinforced by the scent of desert rose, which reveals nuances of freshly cut roses.

Jasmine is also present but shows greener facets this time. And the evolution brings a creamier and smoother base, with much evidence of sandalwood and musk notes. And the result reminds me of the delicacy of the smell of a famous Brazilian children's shampoo, which is persistent without being insistent.

There are people who think that Serpent Bohème is not a chypre, but these people are still stuck with the chypre style of the past, which had a basic structure of bergamot, galbanum, and patchouli (top, body, and base), in the case of feminine fragrances. Modern chypre is already bringing a less green nature, which usually has a structure very close to that of this creation. So far so good!

The performance of this Eau de Parfum is very good, although it is not the type that exudes immensely, leaving a huge trail. Like I said before, delicate, and elegant. And I, particularly, think that the fragrance is quite shareable or, at least, it serves to practice layering with more woody and dense ones. And although it is not new in the perfumes of the Boucheron brand, the presentation is very beautiful and with an excellent finish.

Serpent Bohème: a subtle and dangerous fragrance like the slithering of a serpent.

MademoiselleMaya

Universal in clean-feminine-light cathegory. Has the potential to be a year-rounder, but wow factor I did not find apart from the bottle.

Mona708

Very bright and sophisticated…but unfortunately also very short lived. Even after I put on a generous amount, it only lasted about four hours on my skin. It smells a lot like Chloè’s Roses
Tangerine, but not as sweet. It does make a pretty good casual scent for warmer weather ONLY.

Deianera

I just wanted to comment that I completely agree with the review of onherown down below.

This is exactly what a lady doctor or lawyer would wear. It's a sophisticated, very feminine, elegant rose-jasmine-patchouli mix. It's not overpowering but still has quite some longevity and sillage.
It's perfect for like a business lunch, a city trip or a day in the office. It's smells safe, warm, comforting, reliable and expensive in a way, it's not extravagant, out there or different. Gold jewelry, flats and basic neutrals, old money/french je ne sais quoi aesthetic. Somehow I can't shake Emily in Paris vibes with this. :-)

UnearthlyApothecary

An expensive smelling “class in a bottle” type scent, nothing remarkable though, very inoffensive. It’s another rose-chouli. A nicely done one to be sure but rather bland. Decent silage and longevity

OnHerOwn

This is exactly what I imagine a rich lady doctor would wear. I love wearing this in the daytime with my wardrobe (all black, lots of Allsaints) for the contrast between classic/reserved/pretty and modern and asymmetrical.

I blind bought this for bottle and name alone, hoping for something more mysterious and bohemian. This isn't that, and I normally hate anything citrus, but this is dangerously close to becoming a signature scent. It's a non-offensive (but still beautiful) rose floral with a little citrus sharpness and a hint of citronella. Self-assured but reserved, wealthy, scholarly. I wish the longevity was better, but it won't stop me from repurchasing: sometimes I love smelling like I play a doctor on TV.

ekrapf

Absolutely divine. IMO, an interesting yet still safe and somewhat generic scent, with just a hint of *something* that makes it not generic. I’m suprised to not see Cassis on the notes list as something in it reminds me of Notebook Pink Pepper & Cassis. If you’re like me and enjoy fragrances with the bug spray / mosquito repellent note, try this. My new favorite perfume! I just wish it lasted longer.

amg7613

A green, musky rose with a bit of citrus on top. I love how it has the patchouli to patch the fragrance together and help it last longer. It is chic and understated (and I feel like this has been said a lot, but that’s exactly what I’m pulling too lol). I feel like a classy lady with it on. I am enjoying layering it with a fruity perfume, like Midnight Fantasy, to add a bit more youth. This is the first time I’ve bought a perfume due to the perfumer (Coach EDP is one of my favorites).

Hypatia.G

This type of essence is what one can call "A mute scent". It's exquisite and chic, a fragrance with a strong, yet subtle presence. This perfume is really similar to Coco Noir and Si intense. So, if you like them, then you'll probably love Serpent Boheme.

Rosy Ricecooker

I like this and find it quite clean and pretty.

Mandarine, musk, rose, floral, in that order on me. This is a sweet orange scent to me, and pretty linear. It doesn't project much. I pair it with Ariana Grande's God is a Woman, which is also quite musky and sweet, and this scent mostly wins out and seems to pick up some of the projection power from the other.

I wear it when it's raining on a cool day, or as a very safe clean scent. Gives me a bit of a melancholy feel.

lidiane_soares

I agree it the most reviews here... first time I really loved.. so I bought a 30ml one... but now that I think about it, I think I made a mistake. He reminds me of an old lady! hehehe I don't think I'll use it much! A feather! It didn't look so good on my skin.

Bubbles1964

I decided to test this Boucheron knowing that I’m soon taking a shower. I’m a week into my niche traveling box and their are some brands that I know I have trouble with, and that’s where I file this brand.

Onto the review and my first impression: the opening is a melange of fruit, florals, musk and patchouli. Kind of a nightmare mix for me but I manage to get through it. Dry down, as expected is smoother, a floral musk. But it’s also non descriptive, Serpent Bohème smells like a few dozen mainstream scents. It does not smell natural to my nose.

Serpent Bohème is a yawner, now it’s time to shower it off. I do like the look of that bottle though.

cjlewis

I think it has a really lovely opening and heart notes. The floral smell and base notes are tempered by barely there fruit. The fruit doesn't stand out on their own, they just blend the floral and musk. But the base notes just ruin it. The heart notes don't stay very long and disappear to be left with overwhelming musk and patchouli. My husband teased me asking me why I was wearing a men's cologne. 😒 He even took the tester from me to try it for himself. I think it would be a good unisex scent.

In the beginning I thought the deeper scent was for a feminine boss b*tch CEO. But after testing it a few times the base notes make it smell like a more mature woman. I wouldn't recommend this scent for anyone below 45 years of age. This scent made me realize how much I dislike patchouli heavy scents, especially if they take everything over. It is not balanced.

Kanutten

This is a pretty, pinkish, happy fragrance. I mainly get black currant, rose and mandarin. Jasmine and labdanum is also present. On me black currant is actually the note that stands out the most. It has sweetness from the berries and fruit without being sugary or syrupy. It also has some freshness.

Not weak on me at all. Two sprays is enough, so projection is obiously (again) related to some sort of skin chemistry factor. Moderate longevity.

Is it unique and a favorite of mine? No, but it's feminine and very easy to wear. But sometimes that's just what I want - something easy and pretty for drama free days.

Lovely bottle design.

I have a tiny mini bottle, splash, no spray. I blind bought it based on reviews here and because it was created by Anne Flipo. All I can smell on me is my mother. My elderly mother wears Chanel No.5. Sure enough, comparing notes between this and Ch5, the notes they have in common is all I can smell. No nuance. I smell rose, jasmine, patchouli, and sandalwood with citrus on top. It is neither offensive nor interesting. It is certainly not a bohemian serpent. What a misleading name!

Fradora

Bought it based on the review here.. And it is everything I don't like in perfumes :( :( Proves again that people have so different tastes in frags :)
To me it is generic floral soapy scent. My mother loves such fragrances so I would say the Serpent Boheme is in same category with Issey Miyake, Escada Especially, Hugo Boss Femme etc.
If you like powdery / warm spicy (cardamon) / musky / soft rounded perfumes this is not for you!

clebermaximo

It is a very elegant floral with a good balance between flowers and musk. Some people may say it is "generic" but I do not agree. Generic female fragrances in the last 12 years have been gourmand, sugary, confectionery-like scents and Serpent Bohème is far from that; It is a light floral, a little bit refreshing without being citrusy.
It is classy and soft and that is the problem: too soft indeed. There is no projection or silage, it is a marvelous scent that is just close to skin. I consider a sin such lovely fragrance not having more powerful projection.
Office friendly, safe buy - as a gift it surely please anyone. It reminds me of Abercrombie & Fitch Authentic Woman.
Expensive for the product you get: wonderful bottle but being 90ml - that makes me mad, why not a standard 100ml? Worse than that just the fragrances which biggest bottles are the 75ml! - and with such weak silage, projection and longevity, it is advisable to buy it if it is discounted.

mangooo

I have a sample of this one! I was looking for a nice and fresh smelling daily scent.

Performance is quite poor and it's very faint even on initial spray, I could barely smell this. Sillage is quite weak as well. It's a nice fresh floral fragrance with a hint of citrus. It's very inoffensive, simple & classy. I can't imagine anyone hating this one, but at the same time It isn't groundbreaking for sure, very safe. But honestly with the performance I can't really justify buying this one.

ArcticCrocus

I hate to admit that I bought this blind from a discounter based solely on the look of the bottle and a quick check of this page. Happy to report that it’s really lovely, soft and pretty. Would be nice for spring.

Not remarkable, safe, a bit similar to Chloe rose tangerine in that it’s sweet, fairly linear and understated. For the shy girl who wants to smell nice but not be overly attention grabbing.

Shelbi98

The amazing bottle was first thing that urged me to buy it, mind it I didn’t try it by then. But as I went to buy it, I had to sniff for sure. Opening was so innocent and clean with the black current and mandarin that settles into sweet scent with rose and musk. Dry down though is more elegant inviting to come closer. This is a classy, lovely, sexy and rosy smell that deepens, warms and blooms as it approaches the dry down to sandalwood and musk. Patchouli is also there which is blended in perfect way. This classy, sexy and unique fragrance is all time wear. Highly versatile with strong longevity and silage. All my love to it!

the_internetguy

Just writing a few lines as a man who received this as a sample when ordering other fragrances. This is immediately crowd pleasing to my nose, very warm, comforting, slightly classy, and not challenging at all. I would easily recommend this to any woman.

Majo23

There is something so clean, innocent and lady-like about Serpent Bohème.
The opening combination of mandarin and black currant lends to a ever-so-slightly-sweet scent, until rose and white musk takes the stage. The drydown is an elegant, faintly-musky rose that invites to come closer.
This was a 7.5 purse spray gift, I wouldn't buy this fragrance for myself, but I really like it. A safe choice if you are looking for an everyday, wear-to-work scent.

Oh, the bottle is lovely too! ☺

SuzScents

Boucheron's Serpent Bohème EDP is a lovely, classy, well behaved, rose centric fragrance. The Mandarin Orange and Black Current lend just a bit of sweetness to the opening, before the roses and jasmine come out to play.

This fragrance is not given to shrill projection, nor do I think it's meant to. It deepens, warms and blooms during the dry down. The base's White Musk and Sandalwood maintain smooth balance. The patchouli is extremely well blended and behaved.

SB lasts and lingers longer on clothing more so than skin. This is a perfect church, office, court, business meeting or just relaxing at home, fragrance. It whispers, class. 😉

Princess Jasmine

Fell in love with this one. I cant say that it is a groundbreaking scent. But it is beautiful and delicate. Reminds me a little of Chloe Love Story which is another favorite of mine and is also by Anne Flipo.
This for me is something you would wear on a sunny spring day or maybe during summer.

NYA90

Nothing special. Have a tester but it is just an inoffensive dull fragrance.

reborn

This one is a good replacement for my beloved discontinued Dupont 58 avenue Montaigne pour femme.Almost identical on me,but this one has veeeeeeeery bad lasting power and week projection, kinda watered Dupont, but still nice

n_bogi

So this was my latest purchase - it was LOVE at first smell. So unique, so sexy. Fresh, citrusy but still has something musky and floral about it. I can smell the orange, but it is not very strong. For me this is the scent of this year. I love it very much! I am confident when I am wearing this.

However, I am very disappointed with the longevity. I have Quatre from Boucheron, which I could smell even the next day, but this one is very weak, no one even noticed on me. :(

brumbarche

Fresh and youthful, yet delicate, french, sophisticated and beautiful. Spring breeze in a bottle. Featuring an honest and realistic rose (at least an interpretation of it). Like the one you get from the flower shop and while waiting for your date, in the cool air you bury your nose in its petals. It may trick you that just because there are no secrets, there's no mystery either. But there is. It is not as generic as you might think. It is modern, authentic, minimalistic, stylish and what I wished that Lancome Idole to have smelt like. It is light and airy, but with nice longevity (6 hours on my arm). Serpent Boheme is maybe exactly what we needed - something to replace all those scents that it is supposed to remind us of, not because it's novel, but simply because it's better. A little free-fall escape to realism, surrender to its nakedness, draw breath of its crisp freedom and return to innocence.

genny17

Why is it that a stylish pretty scent is called genetic !? This is a word used so many times even when a perfume smells great
I guess for some people smelling great isn’t enough, like crowd pleaser is good I would think.

Wyded

It's a pretty perfume, but in my opinion it's the most generic of this year. It's completely office safe, crowd pleaser, nothing challenging, nothing groundbreaking either. The perfect gift for someone you don't know the taste.

genny17

Definitely a love for me! I just received my bottle from France, and what a beautiful perfume! it is like intoxicating, not in a heady in your face way, more in a refined sensuous clean warm way..the notes blend in so beautifully..I detect the mandarin, it is like so closely interwined with floral notes, I detect the sandalwood and the laddanum..truly a feminine, attractive creation..it doesnt project strongly, but there is a smooth vibrancy in this..so happy to own this, it is a distinctive scent, you wont smell it on everybody..my husband thinks it smells ravishing.
I think while wearing this, people will think you smell really good! I feel just good wearing Serpent Boheme..it represents well the exotic stylish jewelry it takes its name after, nothing overdone, just a hint of mystery.
I will add I love the classy bottle.

COSMICSCENTS

I love Boucheron fragrances and they were due for a main launch. The house is not as popular in the United States as it is in France or Europe but they used to be more popular years ago here in the U.S. The competition with other big names and celebrity perfumes made beautiful Franch perfumes vanish overtime, it is time they stand up again in glory!
