Chance Eau de Toilette by Chanel is a Chypre Floral fragrance for women. Chance Eau de Toilette was launched in 2002. The nose behind this fragrance is Jacques Polge. Top notes are Patchouli, Pink Pepper, Pineapple, Hiacynth and Iris; middle notes are Lemon, Jasmine and Rose; base notes are Patchouli, Musk, Vetiver and Vanilla.

Chance in French means \'luck\'. Chanel and Chance sound so similar as if they were created for each other. Chance is the only Chanel perfume in round bottle as opposed to the classical plane Chanel N°5 rectangle bottle. It is not accidental, though, as it is a \'wheel of fortune\'. A wave of extreme freshness meets with the flowery notes and continues with sensual spicy composition. \'Chance is a tornado… the door open to adventure and unknown, just like lips ready for a kiss.\'

There are pink pepper, lemon and pine apple in the top notes. The heart encompasses hyacinth, jasmine and iris, while the base is composed of amber, patchouli, vetiver and white musk. The perfume was created by Jacques Polge in 2002.

It smells really nice! A perfect balance of fresh citruses and fruits, light floral notes and musky base with a touch of woodiness. I never had it in my collection but I’ve smelled it on many different women and it was always a fresh classy and clean scent in my memories.

After so many discoveries in the niche world, I sometimes crave a good, classic designer scent. I always come back to the Chanel DNA. It's classy, chic, sophisticated with that recognizable patchouli that I feel in most of their scents, and particularly in the Chance line. This is patchouli overdose with a hint of sweetness and zingy-ness from pineapple. After a few minutes, dries down into an earthy patchouli scent. Poor longevity (max 2 hours), but I like it enough to over spray and top up during the day. Chanel price range is a bit crazy though, its gotten more expensive than a quality niche frag.

Subhuman

I always ignored Chance in favor of its progenitor, Coco Mademoiselle, because I assumed it'd be a lighter, lesser version of something I already liked. But somehow Chance almost feels like an upgrade, or at least a more ironed-out iteration. Coco Mademoiselle is lush but (admittedly) a little crude with all that stuffy musk and spray-tanned patchouli fighting for dominance over the neon floral blend; Chance, despite being a "younger, fresher" take on the Mademoiselle template, ironically reads as more refined. All of Mademoiselle's pushy tendencies and rough edges have been sanded down and blurred - everything from the citrus to the florals to the patchouli/vetiver base feels more rounded and abstract, and much lower in volume, here. There's also a CKOne-ish fresh haze covering everything, lending Chance a certain genderless quality despite being knock-you-over-the-head obviously marketed to young women. It's easy to wear and doesn't have a whole lot to say, but that can be just the ticket when some of Chanel's more boisterous offerings might get on your nerves. In contrast to the likes of Mademoiselle, Allure Sensuelle or (especially) No. 5, I can't imagine anyone actively hating Chance. It's not interesting enough for that. Likeable and versatile, but don't expect fireworks.

[Edit 4/24: I've lost interest in Chance. It's just a little too clean and colorless for my liking. I'll stick to Coco Mademoiselle; bombastic as it is, there's more there there.]

I’ve been wearing Chance edt since Christmas, and I’m loving it. It’s bright and sparkly and juicy (pineapple) without being too sweet. The patchouli, which is often off putting to me in modern fragrances, is done perfectly in Chance. This is my new (new to me, that is) every day reach-for fragrance for going out and about. It puts a smile in my heart, and it’s well named. You never know what the day will bring as you head out the door. My only criticism is that I wish the sprayer was a finer mist. It comes out in more of a stream. But that isn’t enough of a negative to keep me away.

simonamasal

This is by far my favourite Chanel! The pineapple is overbearing at first but it all blends together in a gorgeous, lovely feminine scent. Similar to Mademoiselle but somehow feels more modern and easier to wear. Casual but the elegance is still there.

barry1052

Agree with @rosetinteddream Chance EDT is one of the best made fragrance from Chanel, but the OG is overshadowed by all the flankers from the Chance line (which I adore & wear them too) but to me the OG edt is the best!

Very Chanel fresh, chic, young, sparkling, confident and powerful at the same time! I love all the notes contrast in the OG EDT and love the Chance's marketing as well. grab your chance (luck)

booksandcats457

A year-round staple for me and a star in my collection. All occasions, the office, job interviews, even my wedding day! Just a really classy, feminine fragrance that is not too floral and not too overpowering. The pineapple note is really unique. I greatly prefer this to the Eau de Parfum version, which smelled much more powdery and floral (not my personal taste). I also much prefer this to the ever-popular Coco Mademoiselle - this is not nearly as sweet.

moths

I'm not usually a big fan of woody perfumes but Chance is nicely blended with sweet, citrusy notes that give it a really cheerful and uplifting quality. The dry down mellows it out a lot from the initial spray. My favorite time to wear it is in freezing cold weather, like the mid-winter -30°C weeks we get here in Alberta, Canada. Something about the extreme cold transforms it into something I absolutely love, but I don't tend to reach for it as much in other seasons.

Liyuhhj

Blasted me with a very strong citrus scent in a single spray which is something I really dislike. Not for me. Gives me a headache.

Robincp

WOOW! Amazing lucky scent, I love this. I got this few times, but it doesn't easy to carry for my short trip. Suggested by my friend to buy a mini perfume from Branddecant store, really quickly and original sample, same scent smelling in fact.

ballerinanoir

This is uplifting. A blast of energy.
I am big into aromatherapy, but I never met a scent that made me feel so awake and positive from a luxury brand. It really matches the name.

Well blended, very citrusy and spicy. I dont find it sensual at all. It is a fragrance I wear when I wanna feel straightforward.

Also, it feels bubbly, like a glass of icy champagne. My mom bought it in 2003 and I still feel the same when I spray this.

Lasts all day on my skin and projects well.
It is my antidepressant fragrance. Thank you, Monsieur Polge.

gressssie

This one and Chance Eau Tendre EDT are my go-to everyday scents. LOVE the chance line!

jhindsb

I coveted this fragrance for over a decade before finally pulling the trigger. Unfortunately, I think my tastes changed between then and now. I would describe the vibe as too….formal? I couldn’t see myself wearing Chance anywhere other than to a wedding. Even then, I guess it just doesn’t fit my personality. I wore it maybe twice and then gifted it.

rosetinteddream

Just received a 50 ml bottle from 2002, and it is so exquisite. I’m sure the overall scent is the same nowadays, but I don’t know about performance. I haven’t worn this for more than an hour, but is absolutely beautiful and radiating so nicely around me. I’m on my second bottle of the EDP, which is one of my favs. This is a little airier and brighter, honestly the review below me is spot on. It takes a little bit more time to get to where the EDP goes in less time. But it’s a fun journey! I didn’t think Chance would ever become one of my favorites. I started with Eau Tendre, gave it away within a week. Then got Eau Fraiche EDT but grew tired of it as it didn’t stay refreshing and also smelled a little synthetic. I smelled this original EDT years ago at a perfume counter, but I think I was both brainwashed into thinking I could only wear scents marketed towards cis men AND my nose wasn’t developed yet. This is just so nice. Maybe not groundbreaking, but it’s wonderful. I’ve come to love patchouli in the last year but mostly in the way that Chanel uses it. Sometimes I like it a little more gourmand, but sometimes I want something a little clean while also having depth and elegance. This is that. I’ll always wear it I think. I’m glad I gave it the Chance.

🥀

Next couple of days later, it lasts on clothes! Also, on skin it lasts for hours. I have oily skin and you would think many perfumes would last longer on me, but unfortunately something about my skin eats them up and they go away. Chance EDT and EDP seem to last and I am HERE FOR IT. As a man this smells so wonderful on me, and I get so many compliments when I wear Chance. I don’t seem to go nose blind to it either and that’s a super plus!

Update 11/03 - The more I wear it, the more I’m obsessed with it. The initial citrus and fruity opening that leads into the floral and spicy pink pepper heart is just oh so captivating. But when it gets to that vanilla/amber-patchouli/musk base…oof. Pure elegance and bliss. I’ve had a few friends and co-workers exclaim “you smell like a rich b**ch” when I wear it. Although a humorous compliment, it also feels nice. And that is how this feels…very nice. I feel at home with myself and every facet of me. I feel put together, at peace, powerful, and beautiful. This, Coromandel, Allure Sensuelle, Egoiste, and No 19 seem to be MY Chanel’s. My rotating signatures depending on season, and mood. I am so happy to love this as much as I do now. One of Chanel’s best scents IMO. Just so well balanced. And btw, DUA’s dupe “Leave It To Chance” is a spot on and amazing dupe of this. Just give it a few months to mature in the bottle. ♥️

Pat_Chouli

Chance EDT is quite similar to the EDP in the overall tone and mood it projects, but it's juicier, fresher, and sweeter (without being actually sweet). It's like the younger sister while the EDP is a little more mature and womanly, but they both exude sophistication and expensive taste and represent a balance between softness and boldness. Both are masterfully blended and versatile, suitable for many ages and occasions. Own one or the other and you've got an entire perfume collection's worth of utility.

JLaw7

Fresh and clean patchouli citrus and hyacinth

katie02kat

I like it even though this perfume has a lot of patchouli, for me it's a light airy scent which is especially suitable for spring.

ambervxyjul

Prefer this over the EDP. It’s more crisp and fresh. I forgot the name of the pink bottle but I had that chance for the longest time until I got sick of it and handed it down to my sister. This one is way better and I’m surprised I never tested it. Perfect for a signature scent, can be worn everyday/every season.

vsmr

I tried this because the edp version was too strong on me. It gave me a headache, so I think Chance in general is just not for me. Will be trying the Eau Tendre versions to give it one last chance (pun intended).

MelissaKS

I finally bought a decant of this and it makes me so happy to have it back in my collection. I owned a bottle back in 2003/2004 when it first came out. It was my first Chanel fragrance and my first “grown up” perfume (CK Escape, Sunflowers, Gap Heaven, etc. were nice for high school and college). On paper, the dry down reminds me of Coco Mad., but I’m sure when I test them side by side I’ll pick up the differences. Coco Mad. Smells like a lemon hard candy compared to Chance.

I love what Chanel does with patchouli and citrus.

Natalia.ca

I’ve been wearing this for 12 days straight now and I’m loving it.
I don’t know how I happen to love it because I hate citrusy perfumes, but Chance just has an aura, an enveloping quality about it that is welcoming to me.
I love that I got the twist and spray version because I take it with me sometimes and it soothes me.
I really like Chance and I can see it’s very high quality but I can’t wait to put my hands on the Eau Tendre as I believe it is everything I was looking for in Chance edt and almost got.
But I’m not retiring this version as it’s a beautiful scent and very distinctive.
But nevertheless I do have an issue with the lemon.

ina.rem

Chance Eau de Toilette is perfect for the summer season. It has aldehydes, which give it a fresh and clean scent, like you've just stepped out of the shower. Even in the summer heat, this fragrance lasts a long time, keeping you smelling great throughout the day. It's suitable for all ages, but especially for those who appreciate the beautiful scent of aldehydes in warm weather.

liat

An elaborate fruity-woody frgrance. The opening is very floral with a woody undertone and later the pineapple comes out. Chance is not as cold and unfirgiving as No. 5 or dry as Cristalle. It's the Chanel version of fruity, flirty, juicy in a mature way. I don't love it the way I love Cristalle but it's fun to wear.

Heathermarie8617

when Chanel Chance EDT was released in 2002, it became my very first "big girl" perfume. Just like the Chance Eau Tendre I would experience later on, I first got a whiff of this from the pages of a magazine. I was ENTRANCED with its beauty and had never personally smelled anything so beautiful in my life. After saving enough money from my job as a cashier, I purchased a travel size twist and spray of this and my love for Chanel fragrances was set in motion. This made me feel like such a grown up and gave me such a boost of confidence whenever I wore it. It got me so many compliments, which boosted my confidence even more. I have tested out the EDP but I must say that the EDT is my favorite. The pineapple note just adds the sweetness that really makes the EDT superior, in my humble opinion, to the EDP. (Of course, I could be biased.) I haven't purchased this in a while; I gave both the Chance EDT and Chance Eau Tendre EDT quite a long break in usage, but I'm finding my way back to my original true loves. I tested this today while out shopping and it made my heart flutter. So yep, I will be picking up a bottle soon. This is not a safe blind buy, but if you love your warm, musky, patchouli fragrances...test this out. And don't dismiss it upon first try! Let it settle on your skin and go run errands, then see how you feel. This one was an instant love for me, but for others it may take time to warm up to. Cheers!

jaymeel119

I prefer this version WAY more than the Edp. So crisp, musky, sexy, addictive. Love.

gressssie

Great everyday smell! Good for any occasion! :) I have Eau Tendre EDT and Eau Fraiche. I will probably get this one eventually too! :) Also... I like this EDT better than EDP.

Nicole79

Chance EDT.. .I just purchased my self a bottle, for spring summer time, thou Chance it's an all year signature fragrance. I had the edp version , also . EDT it's sweater, juicyer from the, pineapple ,fruitier than edp which is more woody and powdery, more on the mature side! I love both! Chance is a true Chanel , it has the DNA , very recognizable! Classy and expensive! Every one can wear Chance, young and mature, fits everybody.perfect as signature fragrance! I love Chance!🧡

Kuty22

I'm crying in Chanel Chance Eau Tendre 😭😭😭 as I bought this Chance EDT by mistake 😩

Edit: I'm actually surprised 🤨 I really like this scent

User123

I’m not sure anymore if I tested the edt or the edp, but it was a very nice, classical scent.

Noelly88

I wasn’t expecting to love it, but I fell in love after sampling. The most prominent notes on me are the pink pepper, patchouli, vetiver and hyacinth, with secondary notes of lemon and pineapple adding a fresh sweetness. To me this is an incredibly fresh, light smelling perfume. It reminds me of smelling fresh spring air and grass. The patchouli is done so nicely in this one. I’ve tried the EDP and dislike the patchouli in that.

SaucyAudy

Was toying with the idea to get a bottle for quite some time. After smelling it more than a thousand times and doing more research on each specific note, I realized the pineapple was too overwhelming and I HATE PINEAPPLE. What's more, the new Eau de toilettes formulas are so weak that the performance is inexistent at this point. Sellers in big stores don't even know how to describe this perfume other than ''it's sweet".

For this amount and dose, there are many other alternatives with niche perfumes that have incredible performance and perfect scent balance. Moreover, with this Eau de toilette, any girls that you will cross in the street will have the same type of smell. Not special, bad performance, too overpriced. You just pay for Chanel...

santeripe

Had someone smell this with zero context on my hand, and a main descriptor they used was "masculine". I agree with that. They did describe Eau Tendre on my other hand as a feminine perfume, but it's interesting how masculine and dry this apparently turns on a guy's skin! Despite the ratings not describing this as unisex. I'm sure this does smell feminine and elegant on the target audience's skin.

Vetiverynice

I had a bottle of this in high school that I fought over with my younger sister - we both fell in love with it immediately, thought it was the most beautiful thing we’d ever smelled - and I’d never admit it back then, but I always felt like it was a bit too sophisticated for the hallowed halls of my high school, where VS body splashes tended to reign supreme. The result was I didn’t wear it as much as I really wanted to. My little sister, who is less shy than I am, ended up keeping our shared bottle.

Now that I’m in my 30s, I figured I’ve definitely grown into it by now, so I decided to repurchase it. Yay! I’m so pleased to finally own it again. It’s completely different from every other fragrance I own. It’s been a very long time since high school now, so I can’t say for certain if I can smell any differences…I feel like the opening is a little different, but after about five minutes it’s just as I remember it. The scent is perfumey without being too sharp or inaccessible. I can’t really pick out any individual notes, but I can say it’s sweet but not gourmand. I also find this fragrance easy to dress up or down. I don’t personally care if this fragrance is “dated.” Trends come back around, anyway.

Maybe the most impressive thing about Chanel Chance EDT is its performance. This was true back when I had it 15+ years ago and it’s still true now. It kicks the snot out of most of the EDPs I own. It lasts all the live long day. I put some on yesterday after work, went to bed, took a shower this morning…and behold, there she still was.

mibro

patchouli bomb. no further comment.

YenSung

I cannot say I needed Chance in my collection but I knew eventually I was going to get it.
This scent is undeniably beautiful, elegant and suitable for any occasion and any time of the year I just wished it would last longer, maybe it's one of those that we have to let sit for a few weeks (allure sensuelleis a good example, it had no lasting power when i first bought it now it lasts until i shower) you put coco mademoiselle intense with allure sensuelle you'll get Chanel Chance

Amoperfumes783

This was my signature and only perfume from years 2007-2017ish, people would know I was at a friends or family reunion just by the scent trail I’d leave everywhere.

I know there are so many beautiful fragrances now and this is considered generic but to me this is a classic and will be remembered as one of Chanel’s best, just like No 5.

Clean, fresh, elegant, beautiful, great quality, perfect for year round.

I still own a bottle, whenever I wear it, I always get complimented on how good I smell 🥰

mizzhoopz

Very clean and floral smelling, not so much musk or sweetness I smell within the fragrance. I smell mostly flowers with a little bit of sweetness, but it's a very beautiful fragrance and nice for spring and summer and can be worn during the day time and night time. Last very long as well and the smell projects in a good range so a little goes a long way.

MargotHarow

Thought I would love this based on reviews. I smelled no pinapple at all, which was unfortunate. I sprayed three bursts directly on my wrist and scent was minimal. It did last about 6 hours but felt like a faint skinscent. Biggest surprise and complaint was that it was very linear and so blended I could not discern what individual ingredients were at all. This may have been due to reformulations with synthetic based ingredients from around 2016.

funeralparty

The first time I tried this, I was like, whoa, this is way too pineapple-y and super weak, it reminds me of cheap body spray. On my second wear, however, my opinion completely changed. Somehow it lasted on my skin and clothes ALL DAY and the whiffs I got of it were almost pure patchouli and hyacinth. This version was much more like the refreshing chypre that I expected from Chance. I think the temperature might have had some effect on its performance, this is definitely a cool weather fragrance and I made a mistake attempting to wear it in the summer the first time around. This really grew on me and I will absolutely be wearing it more when spring comes around.

natasha calli

A strong scent when first sprayed but dries down to a light powder scent. It is a good scent but it does not last that long. It is a chanel fragrance so it is hard to dislike but compared to the other chancel chance flankers, it pales in comparison. A second runner up to the infamous chanel chance tendre.

Eveningrose

I was very surprised by the performance of this one as an EDT! I must say it is really good. I wore it to bed and I can still smell it on both skin and cloths even after 10 hours. The smell is light and pleasant . I can see what people mean by Chanel DNA. This does have it. I smell the pineapple note as well but it isn’t annoying to me. I am not a big fan of pineapple note so I was concerned about that. I tested the performance of this one and coco noir . Sadly, I had to send back coco noir because it was so disappointing in performance which is so important for the price u are paying ! Anyway, this one is a winner in my book and I’d definitely repurchase!

islandgirlmaranda

I agree with the review from "eaudemale." This is a little similar to Coco Mademoiselle EDT, but this one has the sweetness of pineapple. I can't detect the pineapple specifically, but I know it's just younger and sweeter than Coco Mad. It's well described as the younger sister of that one. On my skin this one wears lighter, fresher, and more uplifting. Coco Mad is more serious and elegant. This has easily become my favorite perfume. I own a small bottle but will order the largest available when I run out. This is a timeless classic modern fragrance that makes me feel beautiful, feminine, and confident. It literally makes me smile! Oh, I also don't love patchouli, but to me it's not in the forefront of this frag at all.

ishaisha

I wasn't expecting to love this one so much since I prefer sweet scents. I have repurchased it a few times and I just love how pretty it makes me feel. It is really elegant and feminine.

Dashalu

I have the largest (150ml) bottle of this that is fresh and hardly used for a fair price. Message if interested. Or I will swap for a 100ml new/newish edp. That’s because originally I liked the pineapple note in the edt but then I realized that I’m really an edp girl. Especially since I live in a colder climate 10 months of out of the year now.

Love original Chanel Chance! In both versions though! I love Chance especially when I don’t want to smell sweet. But I can’t think of a time or day when it’s not suitable. So easy for me to wear. Love the fizzy pineapple mixed with the dirt like musky patchouli in the EDT! So nice. Very earthy. I had some on my sweatshirt’s sleeve while camping and I realized that it reminded me so much of the surroundings. The green trees, moss, dirt, dampness, after rain scent…it’s earthy but somehow doesn’t turn into “hippie” but remains glamorous Chanel.

if you know EDP then know that EDT is that plus that fruity almost watery/juicy pineapple note with the pepper turned down! Without being too fruity. Edp lacks the fruitiness but the pepper is the top star/it’s heavier on the pepper. It’s deeper and richer and more smooth/vanilla in the dry down. But to me it’s also more subtle & less noticeable because there is no fruitiness. They are both great! To me edt can be worn year round but especially in warm weather while edp will shine more in the colder months because of the heavy pepper dose. They both also remind me so much of the dry down in Coco Mademoiselle Intense! Soooo similar…EDT has a nice fizzy quality to me although aldehydes are not mentioned.

haleykbhenry

It smells EXPENSIVE. It's pretty, feminine, playful yet office appropriate. Performs very well in HOT weather. She's a beauty and it's a flirty, pretty version of your average citrus florals. This is absolutely GORGEOUS! Amazing if you're looking for something feminine and pretty BUT still stands out from the average perfumes out there. You will need to apply generously with 5 sprays to enhance performance. Enjoy smelling lovely :)

la.femme.scent

Smells just like the EDP but doesn't last as long. Very fresh in cooler weather and more woody and patchouli in warmer weather.

liebecherie

This is a classy scent. I adored the pineapple. There is too much patchouli in this compared to my other Chanel fragrances. It’s very woody in the dry down.

LinnieR

One of my all time favorites. It smells like lipstick and hyacinths without being too sweet. A masterpiece

IsSheNotFragrant

If only we could tempt Monsieur Polge out of retirement. What a nose!

eaudemale

This is the OG and the younger smelling Coco Mademoiselle. Sweet pineapple, sparkly patchouli, jasmine, hyacinth and lipsticky iris. 100% feminine, everyone can wear wtv they like but this was though out for women. Way more niche and classier than the many niche fragrances around.. niche to me is better quality and the ability to detect different notes separately as opposed to a linear extremely blended concoction and Chance definitely gives me that.

Eva Wu

If Coco Mademoiselle is the gorgeous tan housewife past her prime, drunk on Moscato, flirting with everyone at the party, then Chance is her prim blonde daughter glaring at her from the other side of the room, cautiously sipping her Rosé.

For Chance is indeed a trimmed down, tightened up, straight-laced version of Coco Mademoiselle. It takes that same sweet-citrusy-patchouli idea, and makes it a little brighter, drier, greener, fresher. Basically, more approachable and less sugary.

It kind of misses the point, though... The reason I like Mademoiselle is that it felt like the only Chanel that allowed itself to get loose and have some fun.

BethyBee

This is definitely one of my best loved fragrances. Patchouli, pineapple, lemon, (all favorites) with that Chanel touch. Bright and glorious!

julietbythebalcony

Oh, Wow!
yesterday after trying it (along with the other Chance perfumes) and walking around with it on for an hour, I regretted not buying this right away and immediately went to the bay and got myself a bottle.

I had tested Chance Eau tendre EDT on my other wrist, debating which I liked better, and couldn’t help but go back to the Classic Chance EDT everytime.

It’s so lovely, and slightly masculine (it reminds me of Chance Eau Fraiche, which I already own and adore), but still entirely feminine, if that even makes sense?
It’s a bit warmer, less fresh than the Eau fraiche, but in the same ball park.
There was some BONITA lady in the comments before mine that, I don’t know, seems to have some personal vendetta against people who wear this perfume, haha, but please feel free to disregard that silly comment entirely.
This is such an elegant and gentle, though confident fragrance. I’m in my early twenties, but I
find this perfume could be worn by a woman of any age.
I don’t usually like patchouli (it makes me nauseous, though if the fragrance is good I’ll suck it up and still wear it) but this doesn’t bother me whatsoever, thankfully!
It’s all up to personal preference, but I definitely favour this over Coco Mademoiselle. It’s a bit stinky to my nose, whereas Chance EDT is pleasantly smooth and lovely.

Jana711xx

What a completely disgusting review by FlorecitaBonita, to describe a whole set of people that wear a particular perfume as boring and have no personality…that is discriminatory and in my opinion the comment should be removed from this forum. I don’t particularly like either Mademoiselle or Chance but I would not dream of making personal insults against people that wear them

DenisseScent

The words that describe this fragrance best is "Simply beautiful" or "Beauty in simplicity"
It is a delicate, sweet, classy and timeless smell. I don't know a single person that dislikes this - it can be worn on any ocasion, weather, it can be dressed up or down. It's a must have in any perfume collection same as Coco Mademoiselle

I wish people would stop comparing Chance to Coco Mademoiselle. Chance is a woody pineappley green floral with a ambery woods drydown. It's a hyacinth based fragrance. It has none of the candied orangey jasmine sweetness and heavy patchouli and incense of Coco Mademoiselle. It's more vetiver than patchouli. It is classy and dependable for any time.

BTW FlorecitaBonita's post is off base and hateful.

DHakky

I usually get headaches from too much patchouli but the edt version is chic and nice ...love it

FlorecitaBonita

Are you kidding me? Coco Mademoiselle is listed as "reminds me of"?
I LOVE Coco Mademoiselle and that was my signature for years [until it became too popular]
I HATE Chance Chanel!
Well... I don't "hate it" .... it is not a bad smelling perfume but I do HATE it being compared to Coco Mademoiselle as
these two have absolutely nothing in common! just look at the listing notes to begin with.

Second, they are two very different women, two very different personalities....
well, that's wrong...
Coco Mademoiselle has personality, she has depth and also some Patchouli [which I love]
and Chance Chanel is linear, boring and really this woman puts me off, she has no personality at all....
like decide for yourself, be something, a little something ...
well the name is "Chance".... guess she's still deciding or on the "chance" limbo
because Chance Chanel is boring, linear and quite to my surprise the very nasty [when smelled on its own Patchouli] but oh sooo... sexual when mixed...
here is listed as the TOP note! and also at the bottom... yet this person woman or man,
no matter how much patchouli they throw at them still remain
plain, boring and just ahh.....

Sharyssadeann1 you're entitled to your opinion but I disagree. Chance is pure class. It's perfect any time. The eau de toilette is one of my all time favorites. This is quality stuff.

KladfvbungMicshk

I ❤️ Chance, EDT. It does smell similar to Coco Mme if you take the orange fruit out and amp up the patchouli. They both have the distinctive Chanel DNA in equal amounts. But of course, they are completely different scents and personalities. Chance is Coco Mme’s sister who strays away from trends and likes to get lost in the woods.

I disagree with the notion that people only like this fragrance because it’s popular to like Chanel. I honestly couldn’t care less about brands and this perfume is great.

The woods are strong however, so it can lean a bit masculine if you’re not expecting that. But it’s a comfortable woods, not a sharp and medicinal one. You have to know you like patchouli to like this, but it’s a great example of patchouli well done.

Ford4630

@Sharyssadeann1 (below): that’s a rather big generalisation, don’t you think? Honestly, I believe that most reviews, with a few exceptions, are left by people who have a genuine interest in perfumes and are entitled to say what they think. I respect your opinion as much as I respect others but we are not all fakes.

Sreza7

Perfume is subjective. A certain perfume could smell like one thing to a person and smell like something else to another person. That’s why is very important to go smell them at a store before you purchase. If you can’t do that then you risk blind buying a fragrance that you may or may not like. Just because you are upset with yourself for wasting money on a fragrance you don’t like doesn’t mean it’s fragrantica’s fault! Lol these reviews aren’t fake! Chanel Chance edt is my favorite out of the Chance line. The EDP is stronger and more masculine leaning. The edt is fresher and sweeter. But this is by no means a sweet perfume if that makes sense. It’s a grown up casual day to day scent. It’s lemony, peppery and patchouli with sweet floral and fruity tones. Great for spring and summer !

Chanel chance and coco mademoiselle could be sisters. I think coco mademoiselle is playful, yet serious and unapproachable. Chance ,on the other hand is also serious, but more approachable.
For me, chance would be the everyday perfume to go to the university and study in the library, and coco mademoiselle for dressier events or when you need that extra drop of confidence. I don't think you need both of these fragrances, although they are GREAT! Coco mademoiselle would be my choice.

Coco888

My signature fragrance , I remember when I first fell in love with her , I was 13 and my friends sister had a bottle of this and I was in love , I didn’t get a bottle until my first job and treasured that 1.7 ounce bottle forever , my humble beginnings, the notes send some electro magnetic charges through my body, this fragrance is sexy, sophisticated, cozy and makes a statement, I’m that woman my little 13 year self would imagen she was , independent, classy, sexy , kind , sophisticated and confident ❤️

AutumnJade

One of my favorite Chanel perfumes. Smells expensive and classy -- I love wearing this to fancy dinners and parties.

I'm a big fan of the EdP but had never tried this one. Maybe my nose was just tired of sniffing so many perfumes that day, but I didn't smell a lot of difference between this and the EdP. It's everything I love in Chance EdP, but lighter and a little fresher. Delicious and a love for me, but not something I must own since I already have the EdP in my opinion. I will test it again when my bottle is empty.

RealWen

I've had this one (100ml) for almost 2 years. It is still 85% full. I imagine it should be suitable for a 40 yo successful office boss woman with black and white pantsuits. Kinda too old for me. So I hope I can grow into this perfume someday because let's face it this juice aint cheap. But girls who have it and don't wear it often, I am here to tell you a secret. This perfume is perfect to wear if you are going to the pool, especially when you are on a date. Because I found out that it smells so beautiful and attractive after you have dipped in the water. Much more likable than what it was. The guy was like, what smells so good? I also didnt know it was me at first. So I sniffed around and realized it was me. This perfume magically stays on even though it has been soaked. I thought some chemical reaction must of happened there with the pool water. Lol! Please try if you get a "CHANCE".

Caraanzara

I wanted this to work on me so badly. Everyone kept saying this is a high school scent but to me it's unisex and would suit 30-40 year old women better. The pineapple and pepper are screechy, the perfume indeed smells very 'Chanel' but it's not what I was expecting at all. The patchouli in this is not bad though. It smells older than coco mad. Not a safe blind buy imo. Good lasting power and moderate sillage. Smells boring to me, would suit all seasons and inoffensive for the office I guess. I have the edp on my wish list, maybe the edp would be better!

violxttx

I like it, but dont love it. Smells very unisex on me :(((

Di_berry

Well, when I blind bought it, I couldn't understand all the hype around this one...
It sat on my dressing room like one or two years, I wore it once or twice, but when I got pregnant it became my absolute one and only, I couldn't wear any other fragance than this one, and Chance EDP, which for me is almost the same fragrance...
I absolutely fell in love with this one in that super great moment of my life, that's why I will always have a bottle to remember just how nice it make me felt.
Super nice, ladylike, young sweet and flowery perfume, that leaves a soft trail but lasts a few hours.
Gives a good vibe for sure!

loliirain

Reminds me so much of highscool, very much an early 2000s scent, but not dated. It’s is a pretty, joyful scent, but it just does not last on me. I can get 2, maybe 3 hours of wear if I’m lucky. The eau fraiche version, which is a bit more green, lasts a little longer. The edp, which is less bright, more vanilla and patchouli, has the same poor performance on me.

sommersne

The opening is a bit loud and screechy. I don’t mind it. To me the opening smells like a realistic citrus perfume - reminding me of a summer in Italy. About an hour in it start to smell like a better, more rounded version of coco mademoiselle. Everything I loved about CM is present and everything I hated about CM is gone in this fragrance. I think this could be worn all year round but definitely spring and summer. Signature worthy 😍

Sampled this at the perfume counter yesterday, out of pure curiosity. I've never smelled the original chance before, but I heard good things about the EDT version, so I asked for a blotter.
Now, if you know me, you know I'm a patchouli hater. And this fragrance is patchouli based.
But honestly? I didn't hate this. With that being said I didn't love it either (but I'm not going to rate a patchouli fragrance based off my hate of the note, that would just be asinine) but I also wasn't repulsed by it. When you first spray it it is STRONG. The patchouli and pink pepper just smack you right in the nose, and it's somewhat overwhelming. But after a few minutes, it smells oddly fruity. You can definitely smell the pineapple. Some nondescript subtle florals, and at the end, a patchouli-musky-vanilla. With that lingering hint of pineapple. This is a nice, classy fragrance. I see someone in their early to mid-30s wearing this, as it seems like a transition fragrance away from younger smelling fruity florals, but not veering into vintage territory just yet. I don't believe I would ever wear this... but its not a bad fragrance. Definitely better than what I was expecting. This might grow on me when I get a little bit older. Until then, we will see.

pjspaceshit

Just got myself a partial bottle and I will probably like this. First impression: more fruity, fresh and lighter on patchouli version of Coco Mademoiselle EDP. Thumbs up!

jadepo21

For me, this is Chanel in the modern era. They are known for their classics, but to me, those haven't aged well and tend to come off as somewhat unmodern and outdated. This has all of the same classic and timeless elements while still having a relevant, youthful quality to it. I could wear this literally anytime, anywhere and it would work.

Mentmorian

If I had to choose a signature scent, this would be it, as it provokes joy whenever I spritz it from my handbag refill bottle. However, this is my holiday scent, so I only wear it when I am on holiday (apart from the occasional guilty spritz when I am booking a holiday or wishing I was on holiday). I try not to cheat as that first spritz when I am on the way to the airport it so joyous, although I have had trouble in the past getting through security with the bottle... one of those marvellous perfumes that I can smell from a mile off and go AHHHH Chance! So uplifting, maybe it's the hit of hyacinth that I love so much, and the jasmine. I don't get the patchouli although I've worn patchouli since the oils from hippy markets in the 1980s... I'm battling so much right now not to go and spritz just thinking about it, so I've put another perfume on to deter me. I did not like Eau Fraiche at all though. HMMMM.

Olfactory_Jules

I remember my mom used both EDT and EDP. At this moment she is using EDP and it smells amazing on her. I cannot use the EDP now because I feel it is too mature for me. However, the EDT version, which is a bit lighter works better for my age (25). I still feel this is a scent for 30+, but I just love it too much to not wear it now. I feel it is safe for work, it represents a strong independent woman.
I had a time where I only liked sweet scents like flowerbomb, Armani Si, tresor la nuit and so on. However, the past year, all these scents are too nauseating and heavy. I needed something light, fresh, and work safe. That is how my journey with Chanel started. I actually like to mix this one with eau tendre when I feel like sweeten it up. Works so good!

Sol0013

Elegance in a bottle.😍 I'm half way through my bottle. And I'm definitely gonna repurchase. In the opening, I'm hit with a waft of patchouli. The dry down is beautiful jasmine.
I don't get much sweetness as stated in the accords. Vanilla is noticeable but it's not heavy at all.
This was my first blind purchase during the pandemic and where my perfume journey started. I asked a guy friend of mine which perfume he appreciates the most in the office and he recommended this.

Much already has been said about this beautiful scent. I agree all positive reviews and the fact that it reminds me of Coco Mademoiselle. I add few lines to express how much I love the house of Chanel; elegantly posh, wonderful house.

I own Allure edp and Coco Mademoiselle edp, current versions. I always smelled something common in these two, and Chance also shares whatever that note is. Chance smells “Chanel”, as much as do Coco Mademoiselle and Allure, though their compositions are very different. All of them are gorgeous. The edt and edp Chance are also very similar; edt is more citrusy and patchouli, while edp is more “ parfumy”.

I happened to wear either Chanel or Guerlain so far, and my mum owns two Diors, so I have some experience with these three houses. Today, after testing Chance for the first time, I noticed that the biggest difference is among the houses rather than among the scents of a given house. Dont laugh please:), I mean it. I have been testing Mon Guerlain, all La Petite Robe Noir flankers and sniffing my beloved my Shalimar Souffle over and over; I smelled something common in these very differently composed scents; I call it “being Guerlain”.

Chance is in a round bottle, not rectangular, so I must have Chance in my humble collection! Go and get a small Chance edt for spring ahead:)

Chance please bring me luck! I need luck for 2021, crossing fingers and indulging myself in olfactory heavens.

Edit December 2022: I bought a 35 ml Chance, got a job in 2021. My friend brought me another bottle as present in Sept 2022. I wished for Chance, and got chance:))

I forgot my Chanel Chance EdT some years ago. Back then I did not like wearing it, it felt too fancy in a wrong way. Now I tested, if it was still in good condition, being opened and unused for at least 3 years.. It smells perfect. I kept it well away from light.
During this very snowy and cold winter season, and yes, the ever so boring pandemic time, Chance really blooms. I am surprised I love it so much now!
Patchouli in the opening, patchouli in the drydown, and it's blended so well with other notes that it isn't too heavy or too earthy. I can detect iris and hyacinth.
Chance feels so warm and cozy, leaves heavenly traces on clothes.
This is definitely my favourite cold season scent at the moment.

kimberly.b.stone

My late father's last Christmas gift to me.

You know what? I'm going to wear it again. Not just because of fond memories of my dad, but because the more I think about it, the more I know it's a great perfume for me. I don't know why I didn't think so for awhile.

I'll update here when I wear Chance again for awhile and give my 'second impressions.'

cats_eye

I consider Chance to be my signature..and it actually came out in early 2002..I remember because I bought it. This is a special fragrance. It's effervescence is addictive.. Compared to Coco Mademoiselle, Chance has pineapple and is greener, spicier and has more of that signature Chanel muskiness. Lasts all day on me.. I prefer EDT to EDP and you can get a 5oz EDT for $140 which works out to be $28 per ounce. Unisex. Versatile.

FabulouslyLazy

Hyacinths are in full bloom right now and so is Chance. This perfume is beyond gorgeous on cold days — I love it more than ever!

mmxknna05

Absolutely stunning. My boyfriend describes this fragrance on me as, “a beautiful woman, walking down a grand flight of stairs into a ballroom”.
My straight...straight boyfriend said that and it really speaks to the poetry of Chance Chance. Even being an edt it still has gorgeous preformance on hair and clothes. 10/10

ruby_evelyn

This one is just classic. Reminds me an older noble woman wearing pink dress. It's very floral, sweet and powdery. I gues it's the combination of jasmine and hiacynth what causes me a headache. Nice to meet it on someone else, but not on me :)

chinna

This scent have something rare...it must be hyacinth . Kind of bitter, almost identical to ammonia , doesn't let it be an absolutely clean scent ... must said like urine. It last for hours including before a bath it is sticky on my hair. Nice flowers, edp a little sweet , Edt is powdery . I can't see it much special .

mdluli

Every time I wear this I thinks it best perfume ever,I owned this since my 20s now in my late 30s.

chinna

I like it more than edp. The same Floral bouquet, is kind of dirty and bitter ,but this one adds sweet fruity patchouli and that comforting powder makes it more feminine in my opinion. Pretty good longevity and nice sillage .

michelle_belle_de_jour

I use to wear this in high school (which was when it came out) and it lasted all day. Now that I'm in my 30's, I can't wear it anymore without it giving me a headache. I still love the smell of Chance, it has that classic Chanel smell that I've always loved. Now I wear Chance Eau Tendre because it is must lighter than OG Chance.

chelseamurdock

I feel like I’m the odd one out... I tried this fragrance a while ago and it smelled like bug spray to me. In my opinion, it smells very peppery and chemical and I got a strong and sharp kitchen lemon soap scent coming through... it just wasn’t for me. I don’t see the appeal...

meg0825

Chance is a classy springtime chypre that is appropriate for almost any occasion. A fresh opening with zesty lemon and juicy pineapple followed by hints of jasmine and hyacinth. Gorgeous woody, earthy, and musky dry down. The patchouli is not heavy handed. It's just right.

animahad85

I love this one! The combination notes of pineapple, pink pepper, rose and lemon, create a very interesting fragrant. Smells bright and warm spicy. This one combine fruity notes with spicy notes intelligently, without being too noticeable.

Suitable for sexy, flirty and confident young girl. Matured women can also wear for everyday use, and safe for the office wear.

LibraMoon

I've had this forever. It's a little bit similar to Coco Mademoiselle, but with a different twist. Chance edt does smell expensive. I do prefer Coco Mademoiselle, though.

baliszonyi

To me, this is Chanel's best offering for women. It has just the right amount of complexity, not too floral, not too much patchouli. Effortless and calming while being serious at the same time. Hats off to Jacques Polge. 10/10.

1guy1dog3cats

Take all of Chanel’s more modern mass-market releases: Allure, Coco Mademoiselle/Noir, Chance, Gabrielle, and all of their respective flankers. This, the original Chance, is the Chanel-est of those Chanels, out-Chanel-ing all the others. It perfectly embodies that sense of posh sophistication that Chanel does so well. Chance is sweetly earthy, with a patchouli base common to other Chanel releases. Over that, though, is a light citrus, some pineapple, and abstract florals, in which I mainly detect iris. Though marketed to women, Chance could easily, comfortably be worn by men.

Chance’s EDP and EDT formulations are much the same. The EDP has a warmer vanilla in its base, granting it a more mature character. The EDT, with less vanilla, smells fresher. They boast similar, solid longevity, so it all comes down to personal preference. For me, it’s the EDT.

If you’re looking for a signature scent that smells chic and effortless, Chance is a contender, regardless of gender. Love.

Djoker21

My wife recently received Chanel Chance as a gift and smelling it I liked the scent and thought it could be unisex so I gave it a wear.
I had Bleu de Chanel EDT as my signature scent for about 8 years, and I have to say I feel like Chance and BdC share a similar half. That would be the patchouli, vetiver and slightly sweet citrus. BdC second half is very masculine with the sharp grapefruit, incense and ginger. On the other side, Chance other half is floral, making the whole composition gender neutral.
Overall I love the scent on me as a male and I love it on my wife. Clean and very easy to wear, casual or dressed up.

TrickyPine

A very underrated fragrance indeed....Maintains the same composition as the original without the overwhelming sharpness of the og Chance. This also lasts, in my opinion much longer given that it is an EDT.

I always picture a woman in the middle of a summer day, when the heat has struck her at its peak. She's just started to sweat a little as a result, flustered cheeks and aware of the heat around her. This image is wrapped up nicely with this fragrance. A very cashmere smelling scent paired with the realism of the summer heat. A complimentary pairing if I'm honest. It sort of reminds me Cate Blanchett in Blue Jasmine, when she was dressed very immaculately but sweating her brains out at the same time xD

This scent will accompany any woman. Lasts very well on clothes.

SailorV

I feel like Chance EDT sometimes gets overlooked in favor of other Chanel fragrances nowadays, but it's one of my favorites from this house and rightfully a modern classic.

Sparkling, clean patchouli and juicy lemons and pineapple give it a lively opening. It's tart and vitalizing, but not as sharp as the citrus-patch combo in Coco Mademoiselle (which doesn't work at all on my skin). Underneath the fruity notes you can smell the hyacinth, a floral that isn't used often nowadays and that can easily turn screechy and stuffy, but doesn't do that in Chance. It's blended with a wonderfully creamy jasmine, musk, super light, barely sweet vanilla and a good dose of pink pepper.
The perfume is fresh with an underlying warmth. It could work as a daytime or nighttime scent, it's at the same time elegant and casual. Not as preppy and girly as Chance Eau Tendre, but something that would fit in equally well with a little black dress or torn-up jeans.

When I tested Chance in winter, it didn't really unfold its beauty and felt a little sour. This is likely a skin-chemistry issue that won't be the same for everyone. On warmer days it's absolutely gorgeous though, without being a typical summer scent.

I really recommend to revisit Chance if you haven't smelled it in years, I'm so glad that I did and will definitely get me a bottle sooner or later.

Melodyy

One of my favourite perfume. People who know this scent will compliment me when I wear it. As a person who enjoys heavy and woody scents, this is a rare floral that I have in my collection.

GinCatsBooks

I love Chance Eau Fraiche and it never really crossed my mind to purchase the original Chance, I've smelt it and I liked it but I never really thought "I need a bottle" until recently.

I own quite a few Chanel fragrances; Coco EdP, Coco Mademoiselle EdP, No5 EdP, Allure EdP, Chance Eau Fraiche and No 19 EdT. But other than Coco Mademoiselle and Chance Eau Fraiche, my other Chanels all feel very "dressy" and a bit too much to wear casually, not that I'm slating them as I absolutely adore them and Allure EdP is my go-to going out/big occasion fragrance, but sometimes you just want an easy breezy jeans and t-shirt day and a fragrance to match, and for me, this is where Chance comes in to its own.

Chance, to my nose revolves mainly around pineapple and the spikey sweet/spicy freshness of pink pepper, wrapped up nicely by patchouli, jasmine and hyacinth, it feels very unisex, versatile, fresh, slightly sporty and very easy to wear. I can imagine Chance on a man or a woman of any age, you can easily dress it up for any important occasion but its equally easy to wear and fitting for casual day to day wear, we've recently had quite hot weather here in the UK and Chance still worked beautifully in the heat, it never became cloying or heady and stayed perfectly fresh and clean.

I think I've found a new favourite staple wardrobe piece, I love Chance!

nitschevo

Ever since this was launched, I was hooked. Few years ago I bought the EDP. When the bottle was empty, my longterm relationship at the time has ran its course and I kind of avoided rebuying because - scent memories.

BUT I really missed Chance. While I do have a lot of fragrances and enjoy almost all of them (rotation here and there, shop your own wardrobe etc.) there only a few that I would classify as signature, "fits like a glove", every day/anywhere. And I actually tend to go back to past favorites right now (Acqua di Gio is next, rather sure of that).

So for the last couple weeks I've been contemplating and today finally bit the bullet and bought a small bottle of the EDT as re-introduction and because Spring/Summer is upon us. And I couldn't be happier! Chance is so "me" and I find it highly unique. I understand reviews who deem this "perfumy" and liken the smell to that of the beauty aisle in a huge department store. And in a way that's true! To me, it takes the best from several styles I love and mixes them together perfectly - fresh-woody, Musky, fruity-floral with a pinch of a classic/austere floral. Nothing smells like Chance and lucky for me - only few people wear it, where I live.

As for the EDT/EDP debate: The EDP packs a heavier musk & vanilla punch. EDT is lighter on that and a touch more fruity-floral. Both have great sillage and longevity, even the reformulations. I will purchase the EDP in fall again and until then enjoy the EDT.

FragrantMama

This is such a beautiful scent. I was gifted this perfume by my sister. She had about 1/3 of a bottle left and said that she thought it smelled like something I would wear so I gladly took it off her hands. It is such a light yet feminine perfume. At the time (6 years ago) I was starting on my masters degree and had my first real professional internship. I decided that this would be a perfect scent as I would be working with children and didn't want anything too strong or overpowering. During my two years of grad school I wore this perfume every day and so now when I smell it I am instantly transported back to that time. This perfume is light and powdery yet it has excellent lasting power and moderate sillage. On me after about 5 hours it becomes a skin scent but I can definitely still smell it. This is a great scent to wear year round but for some reason it really reminds me of spring. Great daytime scent for the office or a stroll around a park. Classic, beautiful and understated. This scent will never go out of style.

Amelia1809

I think this is an unisex fragrance. But if this fragrance is worn by a female, I imagine that woman is independent, classy, and feminine. I notice patchouli domination. The dry down smell is so classy and elegant.

It's best if I used at day and dry season. I feel so fresh. Sometimes it reminds me of men fragrance but that's not a matter 😂

mdluli

I needed an up lift in my life and wore this today. I like the fact that is sweet without being overly sweet still remaining classic. I'll get lucky today.

Lauren19

Lighter and fresher than the EDP. This one lacks the musky notes that take over the EDP. Rather, this one is light and a huge burst of patchouli that is fresh, modern, and great for a Spring or Summer day. I wish the projection was slightly better but I love the scent enough to wear it anyways as the warmer months are upon us!

scentnut

I have worn Chance EDP for a few years now and just wanted a little something different to start off my spring fragrance wardrobe. I received a sample of Chance EDT with a recent purchase and gave it a try just out of curiosity. Lo and behold I finished the sample and bought a bottle of EDT! Why have both? Here is my take.

The EDT is more fruit forward, fresher, and like a bottle of sparkling white wine. It’s pretty linear IMO and smells amazing right away. It does fade after a few hours but it’s an EDT and that’s to be expected and stays on clothes quite well.

The EDP opens very strong, with it’s beauty developing over time (albeit short). It is like a buttery Chardonnay. The vanilla adds a layer of “warmth” to this one. It lingers longer than a few hours. I like it better on skin as the chemistry is necessary for that beautiful dry down.

In short I feel they’re both worth having and I adore them equally. Whichever one I grab depends on the weather, my mood, and the setting. I think I’ll lean toward the EDT for daytime and work, and the EDP for night time and going out.

AMH19

I have been going back and forth with this one. I tried the Chance EDT and initially really enjoyed it, so I tried the EDP and just wasn’t as impressed. I tested the EDT again and wasn’t sure about that one anymore. Fast forward a few months to the other day and I am in Sephora testing the EDT and I love it so much I get a sample! After wearing it and seeing how it smells on me, I think I may add it to my collection. This one is light and beautiful, it has a slight sweetness but it’s not overbearing. The dry down is earthy and very nice.

mdluli

I have all the chanel chance perfumes, this one I wear it when I need an uplift.I love the sweet not that comes up on the opening. It kind of reminds me of Gucci rush.

I love the EDT so much then EDP, eau Frachie not sure of vive and tendre

raiza1990

Pleasant fragrance. Soft and elegant. Starts green than gets powdery. Is slightly sweet, nothing overbearing. It has personality but it is inoffensive at the same time. Try it if you want to smell like old money 😜
Final note: 7/10

giedrute555

It's definetely a "must have" from Chanel(as well as Coco Mademoiselle eau de parfum).I never get bored of smell <3

redaddict

I was given this about 7 years ago. Back then I really disliked it. It just wasn't me. It has sat, unloved at the back of my wardrobe. Recently it has been very hot and I am in the midst of theatre rehearsals in quite an airless space. I wanted to wear a fragrance that inoffensive and a little fresher than I usually wear. In a hurry, I grabbed my bottle of Chance and spritzed it on. Not too much because I was still sure that, although I was fairly confident it wouldn't offend anyone, I myself wouldn't enjoy it. How very wrong I was! All through rehearsals I kept getting lovely wafts of this fresh and pretty but still warm and interesting fragrance. I actually regretted I hadn't applied more! Chance will never be my signature, it still doesn't fit my personality well enough for that, but I have definitely found a new appreciation and perhaps even love for this fragrance. She is not too sexy but not too innocent either. She is fresh but not aquatic and floral but not overpowering. A lovely, lovely fragrance... why on earth did I despise her so?

rbickel6

This is gorgeous. I would describe it as a burst of pink champagne. It's light and fizzy. I get a lot of orange and grapefruit, but it's widened out into a rosy musk and some other distinct florals I can't describe. I got it because a lot of people said it was "sophisticated" and for a "confidant" woman, but I don't get that. It's something to wear to a party, I think. It's bright and happy on the surface but those wonderful florals then bend it towards very sexy.

I spritzed it on at the office. Wonderful combination of lasting ALL DAY but not being overwhelming at all.

ylva

I think Chance eau de toilette and Coco Mademoiselle eau de parfum are the prettiest fragrances I've seen from the house of Chanel. I feel like Chance is a sophisticated fragrance. I don't like the opening, but after a while it just develops into this beautiful beautiful scent. Kind of reminds me of a perfume store. Once the sharp opening notes are gone, it's one of the most pretty scents I've smelled. <3

JustSimpleThings

This is an 'allright' for me. I don't get the pineapple note in the opening, only the lemon, which is a shame because I love pineapple!

I feel like this scent is cheerful and optimistic in a sophisticated way. Great choice for an office scent, especially for women in their twenties or thirties.

For me, personally, it just isn't provocative enough - there is something in it that speaks to me (is it the pink pepper note? or the patchuli perhaps?) BUT (and it's a big 'but' unfortunately) it just doesn't make enough of an impact for my liking - I like scents that are more assertive, more dominant and captivating - like HP by Dior or Gucci by Gucci EDP. I will try Chance EDP next, based on the notes alone, it looks like they have amped up the pink pepper and patchuli in that one, so it may suit my personality better.

I do NOT want to put this scent down though!!! It is lovely, and if you are the sort of person who identifies with this scent, go for it! It is a beautiful and complex fragrance.

aromatti

One of the best perfumes of our time, a modern masterpiece. In the day when every other fragrance smells sickeningly sweet and sugary, Chanel keeps the mark high by showing everyone how modern elegance, youthfulness and class can be united in a smell they called Chance, which by the way means LUCK in French.
The scent is sparkling, fresh and regal.

freakygin

Once, I take a walk and saw Chanel Chance on sale. Pretty darn good deal.
So, i tried to purchase Chance EDP, but somehow got the EDT instead.
Silly me... Those two really look similar
So, i tried it on my clothes right away
The first spray projects strong Pink Pepper & Patchouli notes.
After awhile, i could smell the familiar Chanel's powdery scent we've all known to love
Somehow i couldn't smell the pineapple note
Personally, i think Eau Fraiche is stronger compared to Chance EDT.

Scent : Sweet, Floral, Powdery
Longevity : 7 / 10 (Actually good longevity, i sprayed myself 7 AM. And i can still smell it at 16:00 PM)
Projection : 5 / 10

OMG! can not believe. It lasts forever!Tried yesterday evening after 12 hours still sniffing my wrist.I’ve tested 3-4 fragrances ( do not recommend to test more than 4 perfumes at once) and Chanel Chance was more memorable and characteristic than the others.I think I’ve been prejudged Chanel perfumes to be as sharp and masculine except Chanel Allure but...Each of them has a point, being masculine or crispness can not preclude the seduction of them. That’s why it’s in my wishlist :) So if you are looking for a fresh and dynamic fragrance can be worn all occasions with a pretty good perfomance, safe to say anybody to purchase

I could just cut & paste my review of Coco Mademoiselle here for this huge disappointment. Again, gorgeous fragrance, again love the patchouli, again gone in 20 minutes WTH.

There’s a really sharp top note in this that I really dislike, I think it must be the pink pepper. It smells like pencil shavings to me and is the thing that stops me reaching for this more often. Once I get past that I find it a nice fresh floral, good for spring and summer but I personally wouldn’t wear it in cooler weather. Sillage is average on this and I should top up after about 5-6 hours but I don’t very often because of that top note! I have about 5ml left in the 100ml bottle I bought 5 years ago and I’m determined to finish it so I’ll be wearing it all this week with that aim but I don’t think I’ll be repurchasing. There’s so many I like more than this now and from the Chanel lineup I’d much rather have Coco Mademoiselle, Eau Premiere or No 5 L’eau.

One of my roommates from over 10 yrs ago got this as a gift from her boyfriend- at the time I thought this scent was too mature for me and my wheelhouse of fragrance- the patchouli was a bit overwhelming to me at the time-however, I do recall how it would linger in our duplex and always left a trail- i did notice how the fragrance shifted the vibe and tone of our living space- there was such a richness to the scent- it smelled expensive, classy, seductive and romantic- there was something old school yet very modern about the fragrance-

as of recent I’ve thought about the scent as I’ve been hunting for a new signature-im feeling that I’ve finally grown into the age and have had life experience to pull off wearing this fragrance- it is now on my want list- I will likely buy a sample to feel it out-so interesting how we can grow into a fragrance like a young girl does when she was finally old enough to wear heels for the first time;)💄👠

Generic AF smelling... Smells like something you'd expect to find on a girl wearing UGGs and Instagramming pics of her heart latte foam

clintjr82

This is one of the few Chanel’s that doesn’t have your old grandmother scent. Thats right it’s way better than the par fum. It’s smells really good sexy and fresh for woman

Flemeth

This one could easily be a unisex fragrance. I'm always surprised to see it come up in the "sexiest scents" discussions on the forum as I've always considered this the least sexy fragrance in my collection. It's chic, modern, fresh, and inoffensive - I usually wear it when I know I'll be sitting in a meeting room all day.
I started wearing this as a child when my father bought me a bottle as a gift. I felt so grown up having this on! These days I rarely put this on so I'm always surprised how much I like it when I put it on whenever I need a safe office scent. I enjoy it very much but I won't repurchase, especially considering the strength of the recent Chanel reformulations.

Angeldaisy

citrus and fruitlike, reminding me of Allure.
then a dash of 1932 for a minute or two.
then it was like Barbie waltzed off to the Dreamhouse with my bottle of 1932 and sprayed herself too close to a heat source, with molten consequences.
nonetheless, quite nice, inoffensive and easily smelling like a Chanel, but perhaps these days, made with celebrity scent materials (?).
I like it.
this being from 2003, Chance does not smell dated and I prefer Chance to Coco Madamoiselle, with which it is often associated.

edit: been wearing this a lot for a further week since first testing. OK, there is a plastic thing going on in the opening (but only for a few minutes) and I realise this is not an Exclusif, but I must add that I have fallen in love with Chance EDT.
I have tested the EDP and I much prefer the EDT.
EDT is more complex, has same longevity and more sillage. I really enjoy wearing it and I should recognise it, it seems very popular, mainstream almost. What a nice discovery.

thegreekone

This fragrance is a true love!!Very feminine, modern, bright, clean, and classy. Not a typical mainstream fragrance. The composition is simple but intriguing,Very luminous and youthful fragrance,or at least for those who still feel young

Amazing creation,congratulations!

lmwimsatt

Im layering this with a brown sugar scented body spray right now and wow. The brown sugar really brings out the pineapple that I couldnt smell before! Just wow

tenten

This perfume is so pretty! I think of weddings when I think of this perfume. Idk if the bride would want to wear this, perhaps they would want something more exotic, but certainly as a guest it's perfect. It's powdery and lightly sweet, sophisticated.
It smells like a woman. I also imagine if you have a ton of meetings it might be good for the office too..the staying power is great. Not quite night time, not quite daytime, not quite casual, not quite formal. But great if you're going to be schmoozing at events.

P.s.I'm only adding my review to add to my collection of reviews on my page lol...I know this one must have been reviewed a thousand times over by now

chicagogirl

This is the best Chanel fragrance IMO. It's a very chic and sophisticated scent. When I think of who would wear this, I always imagine a really successful, confident independent woman with her own giant, beautiful office with an amazing view in some skyscraper downtown. I think this is a great job interview perfume because it's so confidence boosting and bold (yet pleasant and not in your face). It has strong patchouli notes with slight peppery, floral citrus-y notes in the background. It gives me an almost pencil-shaving like vibe, but it's somehow still good? It's sultry, confident, and sexy. It's sharp and lasts a REALLY long time. Longer than most of my other perfumes. I typically prefer really girly gourmand, vanilla sweet fragrances and this is the complete opposite. Sometimes it almost borders on unisex but it's still so feminine and chic. It's very distinct, not something that just fades and you start forgetting you have on. I don't think any perfume on the market smells as chic and elegant as this. The EDT lasts forever.

giuseppe98gp83

Chance is very delicate. A perfect mix of pink pepper, lemon and patchouli. Then jasmine and pineapple. A touch of class for a girl of extraordinary delicacy.
Thumb up :)

annxyz

This is very weak now as early reviews report. But so is everything at the Chanel counter . I know because I have purchased Chanels for 20 years. The price is high but the quality is no longer impressive .

temo

This one seems to be a chameleon! Constantly changing and somehow different with every spray. I first discovered my love for this fragrance many years ago and every now and then, I’ll pick it up and be surprised all over again. I never know which notes my nose will pick up on but I can’t help but love all of them. I think maybe it should be called “Change” rather than “Chance”. To say it is multi-faceted is an understatement!

S3ahorse

Chanel disappoints me with their qualities. I almost run out of my Chanel Chance eau de toilette so I bought the biggest bottle that they have (the 5 oz bottle) at one of the big department stores. My older bottle was produced in 2016 and my new 5 oz bottle was produced in 2018. I was curious if there is any difference between the older bottle and the new bottle, so I sprayed 1 sprit on each arm to test them out. To my surprise, I was left with huge disappointments. The scent of the new bottle is weaker than the older bottle. It is definitely a watered down version of the older bottle. Has anyone else notice the difference? If so, please share!!! I don't know why such popular house like Chanel would do this? I used to believe in the quality of Chanel so strongly but I now I am left with doubts. The price goes up over the years, yet the quality goes down.

Rose112

A citrusy musk with notes of pink pepper, lemon and pineapple. It makes for a sweet floarlly perfume with hints of sexiness. I adore this Chanel perfume, but I’d still say Eau Tendre is my favorite. This one’s a bit stronger, but with just as clean of a smell. Defintiely heavier and more noticeable, too.

Since people seem to like when I post how and when I wear my perfumes, I’ll do the same for this one! For this one, you can wear it just about any time of day and still turn heads. Whether it’s during the day or night, you’ll fit in with this beautiful perfume. While I do enjoy wearing this at night occasionally, I would say I tend to favor using this one in the mornings or afternoons.

For a date night routine, though, I do something a little different. Start with a shower as usual, but afterwards I’ll lather up my legs, chest and arms with some flower bomb body cream. It makes for an incredibly pretty base with the patchouli notes fitting in perfect with this perfume. After letting that settle in, I like to do a light misting of Miss Dior Cherie Eau De Parfum using 5 to 8 sprays on my body and in a cloud to walk into. Even more patchouli! Then I grab my oh so lovely Chanel Chance and hit my pulse points (ears, neck, wrists, cleavage, legs if I’m feeling myself!) after that I’ll throw my outfit on and finish up with a few more spritzes on my shirt, hair and scarf if I have one. The final product of Flowerbomb cream, Miss Dior Cherie and Chanel Chance perfume makes for a stunning flowery, rosey, slightly fruity and oh so sexy projection of fragrance. Other women especially are always quick to comment on how breathtaking I smell! Give this method a try if you want leave people sniffing for more ;)

brigitten

Very cliche Chanel, I was expecting it to be more fresh and bubbly. But no, very soon after bright pepper it suffocates with same old thing that goes through all Chanel perfumes and makes them unbearable in public occasions or transport.

Charess

The combination of patchouli, lemon and pink pepper makes Chance EDT very fresh and sharp. It makes me sneeze!
I would like this one better if the sharpness was toned down and the vetiver, vanilla, rose and iris would be more promiment. It's all about patchouli/lemon/pink pepper now. A bit unbalanced. Despite the fact that I don't like the scent, the quality is very good. Sillage is moderate and longevity is +/- 7 hours.

elmccullar

Unfortunately, on my skin, i get a distinct urine note with Chance. It's very light on first spritz, then dries down to something foul on my skin. Chanel No. 5 and Allure do the same on me, so maybe it's something that Chanel uses? Misia works beautifully on me though...

XoXo1793

I love it, the problem of this fragrance is longevity...I don´t smell it at all and people around too...just waste of money, maybe, next time I try the perfume version...

Miss Fussy

I tried this a couple of months ago and really liked it so I got myself a bottle. I thought it was fresh and feminine.

I am not even half way through the bottle and I am bored of it. I no longer consider it very fresh, I think it's actually quite sweet (but in a classy way).

I think it's probably much nicer in cold weather.

FabulouslyLazy

Masterful patchouli. The perfume for a woman who doesn't lack self-confidence and is the maker of her own destiny. Sometimes utterly feminine, sometimes more tomboyish, but always true to herself. I really have the feeling that this perfume is multifarious and changes according to the mood and attitude of the woman who wears it.

lilah_rouge

Unfortunately it does not work on me: it becomes masculine ans aftershave-like. Thw parchuli is also way too dominant for my liking.

Michelle12345678

Very much a patchouli scent. This probably isn't going to be to your liking if you don't like patchouli.

I like this scent. Despite a lot of people claiming it's generic - including Katie Puckrik - I find it unique and interesting.

It is very well-blended. The lemon and pineapple freshen up the patchouli.

This could easily be worn by men, I don't think it's a scent that only suits women.

I tend to overspray this a little bit, since it fades in the drydown. Overspraying ensures a longlasting quality drydown. Just wait a little longer to leave the house, but it ensures all-day wear.

Fresh, interesting unisex scent. I can't understand when people complain about it being unimaginative or without personality.

al820129

In my opinion this is the most youthful Chanel perfume and the flankers are adorable too. I always had original, maybe since 2009. It was my work perfume for many years because of it's sporty elegance, if there is such term.

Now I spray it occasionally, the last bottle has a very light sparkly citrus - pepper scent, brand made it weaker, so I can easily wear it even on sunny day with tee and jeans. Yes, I am that person who wears Chanel with jeans too, for some reason all of them have tomboy vibe for me.

marusiatko

Beautiful perfume. Unfortunately, its sillage and longevity are minimal. The perfume itself is sweet(not overly sweet) yet fresh. It is generally pleasing, non-offensive and does not make a statement. However, the juice itself is beautiful but shame on its performance. It last 1 hour on my skin in the summer, maybe 2 hours in the colder months. The EDP lasts a bit longer, but not much.

marianafuzaro

It simply does not do justice to Chanel and pales in comparison with Coco Mademoseille. Just another cliche fruity fragrance, not really bad, but also without character.

Cathped

Not my type of fragrance. I wanted to test it because my friend uses this one. Patchouli? I think so, in the drydown. The start is more fresh. Then it gets sort of spicy. But it has a harsh/bitter note on my skin that makes it intolerable to enjoy. And I'm not a Chanel girl at all...

MoniSK

This was my first chanel parfume, when i got sample i was in love it with it so much i had to buy bottle, its femine sweet and citrusy. I normally dont like patchuli can be very strong but in here its well balanced. I think this can be worn day or night i personally wear this parfume for special occasions. Its jewel for me.

Emptiness

Chance is the greatest and the most luxury combination of freshness and dominant notes of accord "amber patchouli". This one reminds me of a champagne

Lilacs&Lavender

This is driving me crazy. Chance EDT reminds me of a fragrance I know, but I just can't pin it down. I looked at other floral chypres in my stash but can't find anything with almost identical notes. Perhaps it's The Vibe. Shades of Knowing, Aromatics Elixir, some of the Balenciagas and Halston Classic for Women perhaps. Unfortunately Chance doesn't stack up against those beauties for me. I know I'm in the minority here. It's not that I dislike Chance EDT whatsoever. It's just that it's not original enough to take a place on the top shelf. The opening blasts with citrus but I like that. I get the pineapple however that is soft on me. In too short a time I've lost it. A friend could smell it on me but for the price I want to smell it on myself.

EmilyCora

I struggle with the initial spray and top notes. Too sharp, cologney, and bitter. I don't think pineapple gives way to jasmine or hyacinth very smoothly. After about 2 hours, it starts to grow on me, but I'm still not entirely convinced.
I want to like it! I think it simply doesn't work well with my skin chemistry. Definitely test on body before buying.

villey91

Chance by Chanel reminds me of Dove's Cucumber and Greentea Shower cream! And I love it. It's my favorite soap. It smells fresh, but not in a citrusy way, and success! I don't own a bottle of Chance, but I will propably at some point. It's not a kind of scent that I wear usually, because I'm more into oriental and sweet scents(like Dior Addict, Chanel no 5, Alien, Ombre Rose). But I feel like Chance would be a great scent early in the morning right after shower when getting ready for work or gym etc.

parfumparfan

This smells so good in the bottle and on others. It's definitely floral but I can't pick out a clear note because it's that well blended. Unfortunately florals smell too cloying on me otherwise I'd wear it. My mother has this and I think it smells amazing. It's a very classic, elegant fragrance and I think all ages can pull it off. Very safe blind buy.

Estela B

I asked my husband to order Chance Eau Fraiche and then he made a mistake and ordered Chance EDT. When I saw it I was ready to send it back and exchange for my first choice. Then I was at a shop and tried Chance edt and... I loved it. now I kept it and also bought Eau Fraiche. I really like both, just can't decide...
I think this line is very fresh and young, my favorite from Chanel.

MeliMon92

I really thought I would like this since I absolutely adore the EDP, but this is a no for me. It opens up extremely green, kind of like cilantro or something. And it never truly goes away, it just dries down to a green musky type of fragrance. Perhaps it's just my chemistry, but this is just terrible on me. Not at all like the EDP which is a complete masterpiece.

Rizo Black

Have the purse edition (3 x 20ml.)

For me it's more citrusy, airy and "sharp" version of Coco Mademoiselle.

karo_dos-santos

Got a sample when I got Mademoiselle edp. First time I didn't get anything from it so took me a few months to give this another try and that day I kept smelling myself trying to understand that beautiful delicious, youthful smell. It is the most perfect blend of citruses, flowers and musk with amazing longevity and sillage. It's my signature now and I can't describe how good this feels. Pure love!

Yonny13

Love it! I stumbled across a cheap and full bottle in a thrift store and sprayed it on. I am a guy and I have a couple of women's scents that are musky like Fendi. This is great on me.

kristen0129

The only Chanel that wears beautifully on my skin and turns to my own scent. I see other Chanel rather clumsy and too earthy to be worn every day, but Chance fits glamour and cotton t-shirt equally. This is eternally youthful perfume.
The lightweight peppery note, pineapple and lemon make impression of champagne bubbles. Later it turns into woody jasmine and stays that way all day long. That's kind of scent that marks territory and all your things and closet will smell like this.

lulami

I would have never thought that patchouli had so many facet. I already own quite a few patchouli perfumes now to get familiar enough with it and the one used in this fragrance is totally different. Let's talk about Chance.

Again I was totally ignorant about this fragrance. Not that I didn't know about it but simply because it was so far from my budget range that I kept myself indifferent to it but still I'm happy to have discovered it now. I tried it just today by absolute Chance because my cousin had bought a 100ml bottle and I wanted to test it so bad.
This was beyond my expectations. I have tested a Chance once but I guess it was the EDP and I recall to not have loved it that much but the EDT blew me away. So no high expectations turnt out Big discovery.

Chance is loyal to the Chanel DNA, there's no doubt about it and even an oblivious person like me in the Chanel perfumes can tell that. I find that the peculiar characteristic that makes Chanel perfumes Chanel is that they all stay loyal to their identity. Rather than a new release I find them to be solid reinterpretations with different facets, with a more modern vibe of the classy ones and I really appreciate this philosophy of theirs which makes them stand out of the crowd. You can always recognize a Chanel perfume whether is a 1950s release or a 2000s one. They adapt their classic perfumes to the new generations, to the new tastes, time, to the ever evolving character and personality of a modern woman. Every woman somehow finds herself in a Chanel perfume, there's one for each of us. And by the way, my cousin is only 16 and this is her favourite ever perfume so here you go confirming my idea.

The perfume is not a sweet patchouli but a green one, fresh like a lemon and spicy like pink pepper. It has a very adventurous and audacious nature, like a young girl who wants to play but she always sets the rules and others have to obey. This perfume is no shy, she doesn't want stay in the shade but she's so daring it will blow you away, kind of a bad girl who still has some sort of innocence in her. This perfume manages to be youthful and elegant, classic and heavy so you might want to give a Chance or two to it.

cookygirl

Not wild about this.
I like the Eau Tendre and the Eau Fraiche so I thought I would like this too.
Smells like generic shampoo on me with a sort of masculine vibe

comfortablynumb83

Give chance a chance. I remember this came out and nearly every female I walked by smelled like chance. I was 17 or 18 at that time. I almost forgot what it smelled like. i haven't smelled it in the last ten years. I recently rediscovered chance again while walking through the mall. from the first blast of spray from the tester, I immediately thought to myself, omg this is horrible! It was peppered lemon patchouli. 10 minutes later i sniffed the tester strip again and my brain was flooded with happiness and nostalgia. After it dried down it became a piece of Chanel art. Still peppery patchouli, but oh so subtle in the background now. Pineapple, lemon, lilac and musk were the star notes. When i read the notes on here a few weeks ago I kept thinking that they cannot be listed right. That mix sounded odd. It's an absolutely genius composition.

Beadvised

Love this, I first bought this in high school. I didn't know anything about designer labels at the time. I was attracted to the beautiful box and bottle. Very modern and high class smell. High fashion sexy confident scent.

ballerina77

This babe is precious. I was 16 when it was released, and it was love at first smell. My mom bought a bottle, and I used to sneak into her bathroom to spray some...Love it ever since! The patchouli and pepper are proeminent, but the fragrance is quite fresh, in comparison to other Chanel fragrances, it`s not musky, in my opinion. It is a young fragrance, I would say. I don`t have any similar to this, it`s quite unique. And I think you can really smell the top, middle and bottom notes through the day, definitely not monotone. Heavy silage, lasting for 8 hours + on my skin. And also versatile, you can wear night or day. Love it.

Chenet

Pink Pepper and Amber Patchouli or maybe the Cumarin are the first notes that hit my nose then it turns sweet with the Vanilla, Lemon, and Geranium, however that Aldehydes are quite intense that I sense a mixture of citric and floral sweet dry fragrance...smells like a rare Champagne, Cheers!

gelo999

Fragrance of modern conception with little evolution. The entrance, citrus fruit very marked has a point more floral than fresh. A spicy union is detected that is not very pronounced but leaves its seal here.

During the heart the note of hyacinth hardly notice it although the iris and the jasmine yes that feel very well, are very pleasant and until elegant, these notes are in the background integrating very well in the mixture.

There is a musky citric-acid note that starts from almost the beginning until the drying that is similar to many fragrances that are made today as D & G light blue or Invictus, said note is dissonant with the balance and although it gives a good duration results Very synthetic, shrill and even laden, so I read in comments that people tire of it quickly.

The sweet point of the pineapple is pleasant, this sweetness that propagates very well until drying, thanks mainly to the support of patchouli and vanilla.

Chance is sweet but it is not cloying and although it is a fruitchouly does not project too much, in fact, it is immediately stuck to skin, leaving that residual aroma for a long time.

This perfume is a sweet combination of lemon and pineapple on my skin.

It's probably the most inoffensive perfume you can find and one of the best office perfumes. Very sophisticated and polite indeed. The sillage however isn't that big, so this is the kind of perfume you can build up - add as much as you like and it will never get to the point where you've added too much.

In my head this perfume is the perfect one for backyard pool parties. It's sweet, fun and fresh. You could also totally wear this on a vacation or to the beach. Very likeable.

I get alot of patchouli in the opening, but when it dries down, the patchouli vanishes and I get a very deliciously sweet lemon and pineapple combination with a side note of iris. On my skin I don't get any spicy pepper notes. The jasmine and vanilla are also barely noticeable. But I'm glad that the sweetness of the lemon and pineapple dominate - I really enjoy it.

alynewas

Caught this by accident whilst shopping and tried a tester, I was immediately hooked, it's sophisticated, fresh and sharp, I really think there's a hint of mint in this which gives it that crisp clean smell, I always feel a million dollars when I wear it. After wearing 19 and Christalle for years I really think this will be my new signature.

Rosepowdery

I chose Chanel Chance edt as my signature because if I had to have only one perfume it would be this one. You can wear it all the year and in any occasion and it is never boring. Chanel Chance edt is fresh, a little bit sweet, a little bit floral. I love it from opening to drydown. I love body shower and body lotion as well. There ´s huge difference between edt and edp. Edp is much heavier and more muscaline. I will love Chanel Chance edt to the end of my life.

kingdomforaperfume

Winter masterpiece. I wish IT has just come out, I would buy it immediately.

bintTapputi

This is kind of lovely. Pink pepper! Hiacynth! Patchouli! So fresh and bright without overdosing on a typical citrus. The pineapple is light and lovely, I'm a big fan of pineapple in fragrance, it makes me quite nostalgic. It's earthy and clean smelling, while fresh and sweet. Very nice balance. Smells like luck. So far my favorite Chanel fragrance I think. Very reminiscent of Mademoiselle without the heavy citrus and floral notes. 7.5/10

zemiami

This is the Female version of Bleu de Chanel(EDT)...Patchouli,spicey, Fresh . if you add Ginger and Insence to Chance you end up with Bleu (edt)IMO

..im a guy , and Blind bought this fragrance for my Mom as a present .....and since i have BLeu , once i smelled chance on her , this is the first thought that came to mind .

redskyatnight

Sophisticated and fresh, but also slightly masculine. Great for office wear. Projects very well.

ElleNell

Slightly sweet, fresh, airy, pretty, feminine yet classy!!! A real girl girls scent. Very pleasant yet enchanting. A true modern classic. You cannot go wrong with this.would suit any woman of any age for any occasion. I think the men would find this attractive on their ladies xoxo

bettybee983

I first smelled this on a girl crush in college. It was absolutely intoxicating. It made me hungry! I asked her what it was and she told me. I accidentally bought the edp, which is still divine but with a lot more musk, which I don't fancy as much. The edt is sweet and fresh and rich, and not as heavy as the edp. Love! ❤️

Elissia

Lovely lovely! I love it; it's light and breezy, feminine, charming, gorgeous. The patchouli is heavenly! Absolutely heavenly. I adore pink pepper, and it's beautiful in this wonderful happy perfume. It's gentle but uplifting, elegant, and lasts really well. It's a pure pleasure.

sarahvigne

I smell this on my wrist and feel as if I am receiving a hug from a beautiful woman, wearing newly washed wool and linen, clean and motherly. It's a safe embrace, but not boring. It's elegant and feminine. After some time the pepper becomes stronger and I like it a bit less because it's less soft.

Madrona

Smells exactly like I imagined it would. A lot of people could wear this, even though it seems targeted towards the younger market. Effervescent, uplifting, slightly sweet, light enough not to raise any eyebrows, pleasant, clean, modern patchouli, yet I wouldn't call it boring. For some reason, pink pepper doesn't seem to bother me as much in Chanel perfumes as it normally does. I like it.

Missisjoker

To me it's a lighter and fresher/ crispier version of Madmoiselle. It is a very fresh floral with a touch of spice and citrus, perfect for office wear. However,if you want a bigger bang for your buck, go with Madmoiselle.

rozalia.ignatova

basicbae

im still unsure about this scent. I bought it for the pink pepper and citrus combo, but im getting more pineapple, iris, jasmine and musk. Certainly not unpleasant, its great for warm days. its cozy but also a bit elegant. I wish the pepper and lemon would be more prominent though, because then i would absolutely love it. It doesnt project a lot on me, its more of a skin scent, though i can smell it at random moments. It doesnt last a long time though (around 4-5 hours), and i can get away with spraying it more than three times. Overall i would say it's pleasant, but i cant say that i love it.

sillage 6.5/10
longeivity 5/10

TakaBeata

All scents Chanel are refined and beautiful. Even how some scent did not please to me straight off I put aside blotter , and the morrow beautifully smelt..
I tried really a lot scents of designers and of niche , but Chanel has in himself an elegance , a projection, a perspective, an elegance.
Chance is woodly- of fruit. With the particle of the smooth patchouli creates the splendid scent. :)
In summer toilet water brings you the freshness.. Into the summer I uses 3x spray.

Fonna2

Again,...tested it at an acquaintance's bathroom.
Oh come on, if they didn't want anyone trying it, it should be in their boudoir on their vanity...under glass...under lock and key.

First spray was bright and clean on the outside of my wrist. Then all I could smell was roses, and more roses after that. Oily roses.

It's a bit generic, but a pleasant scent......until...
I got a bit queasy, because it started to remind me of a doll scent...plasticky. Not big on doll scents.
At a distance, it was fine.

Within an hour it was gone. I timed it. All I could smell was a faint smell of Skooter's hair.
Not a fan.
Oh, for the price.... I would rather save up for a good bottle of No 5.

Sprayed on my lower arm, this has a strong pencil shaving/peppery quality, and somewhat non-descript. But once I sprayed on midriff area, it blossomed. It has similarity to No. 5 in the drydown, but it has its own character, it is softer, fresher, more streamlined and with a slight cologne briskness. Perfect for everyday.

Chance edt owns a special place in my heart because it was the perfume I used during my pregnancy.

In that time I started to feel uncomfortable with many perfumes I used to love, I found them nauseous, headaches inductors or simply unappealing.

Chance was my olfactory nest! I felt surrounded by a complex and earthy fragrance, that slowly fades with the pass of the hours but never leave me.

A strong femaleness, but not strongly sweet or floral.

From time to time I like to sniff it and immediately I'm transported to that special moment of my life. That's why I would never use Chance again, it's like a wedding dress, deserves to be treasured.

So I had a 100 ml bottle of Chanel Chance EDP for 4 years and had to give it away because I just never wore it. And it was strange, because in a perfume shop I just loved it. And now the secret is revealed - I tried EDT version but bought EDP! So yesterday I bought and EDT one and oh my.. I love it. It is very classy, light, luxurious, seductive.. And most important despite the fact it is an EDT, it stays on me for a long time. Love it.

This is the only non-Les Exclusifs Chanel I can tolerate, and I love this one. I put it on this morning and right now the I Feel Pretty song from West Side Story is flowing through my head. It makes me happy. :). The pineapple really stands out.

Class&Ass

I don't know why it's taken me so long to write a review on Chance. I wear Chanel Chance at least twice a week. The Pink pepper & pineapple combo is FABULOUS! Men absolutely LOVE this fragrance. Sometimes I wear perfume that women comment on & ask me about & sometimes I wear a perfume that men comment on & ask me about. Chanel Chance is one of those fragrances!

If I were a single girl dating, I would absolutely wear Chanel Chance. If you are a single woman out dating, WEAR this!

It's light, starts off a little powdery then settles into an earthy almost leathery scent that ads depth & warmth. I swear by this stuff.

Business meeting with men? WEAR this! Sit right next to them & watch them get all melty. You will get your way;)

It's not at all masculine, not really traditional & definitely not fruity or spicy but gives you sensuality & sexuality with class & an air of aloofness.

i'm a guy who has got bored with trying men's fragrances so i've gone for a several-month search for the holy grail of perfume....and nope i will never reach that holy grail :( but after trying millions of perfumes (some several times and changing my opinion) i was expecting coco madmoiselle to be The One due to its popularity..but nope. THIS is my favourite perfume on a girl, my next girlfriend will hopefully smell like this!

Heavenly smell

I love it chance chanel EDT is simply the Bomb.com my current signature And 4 Forever❤️

A simple fragrance with a Chanel touch indeed, mostly a patchouli floral with a touch of pepper and musk. I can understand why you have to dare to wear it if you haven't tried something alike before. I wore it for years in the warm months. I want it again but I am also curious about Chance Eau Vive this spring/summer so I will have to make a choice! I kinda like it more than Coco Mademoiselle EDP even, it is "spicier". You smell Chanel signature all over it, I only like the EDT though, the EDP is way too heavy. But for a bottle of EDT it really lasts all day long!

"Tart" is a great way to describe this fragrance. Long-lasting, super tart, and a patchouli-bomb. It's a serious, adult, lady-like fragrance and very, very citrusy. Good for spring, summer, and fall. The earthiness of the patchouli keeps it from being too young or casual. One of my longest-lasting citruses.

Peachysugarbuns

If Chance EDT is too tart and mish-mashed for your tastes, or if it just doesn't work with your chemistry, try the EDP version. There is a veil of powder and light sweetness in the EDP that tempers the patchouli and zippiness of the EDT.

I hated the EDT but really enjoy the EDP! I finally "get" Chance because of it. :)

novarenata

I love the muskiness of this fragrance. I don't normally like patchouli but Chanel Chance really got me. I'd wear it on balmy Bornean afternoons with a floral sundress and leather sandals. To me, Chance smells so exquisite, feminine and seductive, yet laid back and unpretentious!

SmellyBliss

I've always been addicted to Chanel fragrances and the love affair began in my teenage years. Chance by Chanel was the EDT I wore when I had my first kiss, drove for the first time, and graduated high school. My warmth caused it to emanate from my skin on my first day of college.

I love everything about this scent; it is refreshing and warm simultaneously. If luck were a fragrance, I imagine it would smell like this.

Initial spray is flowery-fruity, bright and luscious. Its evolution into a softer, brighter, flowery musk with the sweet bite of fruit keeps the sniffer addicted to luck. The dry-down is simply gorgeous and wonderful melange of vanilla and flowers.

I will deeply love this fragrance for a lifetime.

I will swap new 50ml bottle I received for Christmas ( one tiny spray)still in box, no cellophane. For Eau tendre, or offer me something.

katemax

Ill get hated for this but on me it just smells like a damp flannel. sorry :(

tule12

I love patchouli in my perfume. I get spicy sweet patchouli. This is long lasting but the sillage is close to skin with heavenly dry down.

Sarahm777

This smell like a headache in a bottle. Just so stong and over powering. Nothing special. It has cluttered notes. I smell black pepper and lemon. Not sexy to me just plain old boring. I wasted my money on this one.

greenteacherie

This smells like champagne and patchouli. And somewhere, pineapple. I'm only really tempted to wear this in the evening for a special occasion because it is really rich and the sillage is monstrous, but in the right frame of mind this is a rowdy Gatsby-style party. If I just want to wear a tee-shirt and go to the supermarket, this one feels a little wild.

rida.nayani

I loved the starting note, however, the fragrance is very limited! If I sniff my wrists closely, it's there but sadly someone standing as close as a few inches won't be able to smell it!
I have no idea what's wrong but this is really sad, given it's price (which is quite a lot)
