Chanel No 19 Poudre by Chanel is a Floral Woody Musk fragrance for women. Chanel No 19 Poudre was launched in 2011. The nose behind this fragrance is Jacques Polge. Top notes are Galbanum, Neroli and Mandarin Orange; middle notes are Iris and Jasmine; base notes are Vetiver, Musk and Tonka Bean.

Iris is the central ingredient of the fragrance, along with several "new interesting musks", found by the perfumer. Talking about iris, the perfumer pointed out it is a very demanding ingredient. First of all, it's hard to source, because anything can affect the final quality of the oil, including climate and soil. Secondly, processing of iris is very time and labor-consuming process, which lasts a couple of years. However, Chanel never made a single compromise about the quality of her (their) perfumes. The new No.19 Poudré (2011) unites the latest technology advances (musks) and the best that can be achieved in a good old artisanal way.

I'm afraid 100mls is a size too big for this perfume, theres no nuance for it to be so. Got extremely bored of it after 30mls in and gave it to my progenitress.
Sticking to vintage 19 edt for earthy green-ness thank you very much

Mercedesbouter

Chanel l'Eau and Chanel Poudree are the ones to win me over, as a lifelong non-Chanel fan.

While green notes and vetiver are definitely not my favorites, the musk counters these. In scents like Labdanum 18 and Grey Labdanum (Abel), green notes are countered by musc and tonka as well.

In Chanel no. 19 Poudre, this projects as a beautiful blend. I'd say even delicious.

amanda0727

Somebody please tell me this gets stronger as it sits. Because I CAN'T SMELL IT AFTER AN HOUR. I am this close to decluttering. I am holding on to it because of the gorgeous bottle. I think I will stick to Iris Malikhan for my galbanum hit.

Subhuman

Damn, y'all really can't smell this stuff after an hour? I'm shocked. Must be the musks causing nose blindness. It lasts for almost an entire working day on me (seriously), and twice as long on clothing, although the sillage is intimate - which is entirely apropos for a scent like this. It's too elegant to be any louder. There's a layered richness to No. 19 Poudré that puts it a cut above the current version of No. 19 EdT for me, despite how different they are after the first ten minutes or so. Fans of No. 19 will smile at the effusive galbanum/iris opening, a shot of springtime with each spray. Things quickly go softer and more powdery (duh) soon after, with hints of wood and a veil of pillowy musk that feels relaxed and comforting, but never cloying. A soft, thin cardigan on a foggy spring day. A cup of green tea, a plush but sturdy armchair, and a good book. Refined, perhaps almost too refined to meet modern tastes for contrast and bombast. But No. 19 Poudré doesn't care. She's blissfully above such concerns. Her reading chair awaits.

The Scentimentalist

The opening is quite elegant, herbaceous and green. In the drydown, there is a musky sweetness that is unnatural and not entirely pleasant. Intimate sillage and modest longevity. If I could go back in time, I would have gotten No 19 EDP instead.

chnui

Like some of the other reviewers stated, the sillage, projection and longevity is pathetic. Which is so sad given how STUNNING this perfume smells to me! It’s giving me elegant, mature, in charge, self sufficient business woman. It’s giving me class and dare I say, status? Anyway, very green and powdery, which normally I never did powder fragrances. I normally would shy away from those. But this baby reeled me in. Now I have three powdery/iris fragrances to my name all thanks to Chanel No. 19 Poudre. I’m not sure this would be a safe blind buy so make sure to take your time with this one. It’s best for date night but even during the day this is a winner because it does not stay on you long enough to choke out a room. After maybe 2 hours it’s a skin scent. Again, it’s sad how short lived it is and makes the price a little hefty for what you get. But I would still recommend it and I will buy it again once I’m done.

CrisMS

Iris and galbanum, very powdery, don't get any other notes. Can barely smell it even after immediate application. Doesn't last more than max 1 hr and has 0 projection. I am heartbroken, I love the scent so much. The atomizer has a very fine mist, and the bottles are beautiful as always.
I want to get no.19 EDP, hopefully that's a little more potent.

arefuthescroob

Beautiful green and powdery iris. I can see the similarity to Prada’s Infusion d’Iris, but I think that’s purely due to the scent notes profile itself.

amanda0727

I purchased this a few days ago on the Chanel website and it was $165. Now it is $172. Price increases go crazy!

Update: Finally received my bottle. Never thought I would love a Chanel but this is THE ONE. Of course, it has to be the one no one talks about and probably not the best seller for Chanel lol. This fragrance has the classic lipstick/makeup-y iris but the added green galbanum note is just brilliant! Tbh I thought it would be more green, like the opening of Iris Malikhan (another love of mine), but the greeness is quite subtle here. LOVE LOVE

Moonami

As a fan of Chanel and Iris and powdery perfumes this would have been in my ally but it is a bit too dry and dusty powdery.

I got a sample of it when I bought Chanel no 22 Eau de Parfum and I don't think I'll purchase a full bottle.

MonicaCloud

I am a lover of iris and everything powdery, and N°19 Poudre is my dream come true. A gentle cloud of iris sweetened slightly by musk and tonka, grounded by earthy vetiver. Elegant, sensual, soft and comforting. Another timeless creation by Chanel.

Parkernosy

An airy and glimmering fragrance. Just enough floral fairy delicacy balanced with cool-headed powder. Best in the day and in spring and summer, as others have noted. Unfortunately so hard to find. My partner went on a multi-day quest for it in Europe that involved an airport salesperson saying No. 19 Poudre is "particularly lovely, one of the best, but we don't have it." He succeeded in the end, but hold on to it if you've got it.

Jurisprude

I layered this with Chanel 19 as suggested by a perfumist. Let's just say that women I didn't know were stopping me in the streets to ask me what I was wearing. I think it is a winner with other women. I particularly liked this combination and intend to repeat it. Better in Spring and summer in my view.

WhiteFlowerPrincess

N°19 Poudre by Chanel reminds me a lot of Infusion D'iris by Prada, but I think that I like N°19 Poudre slightly more. It is slightly more feminine leaning than Infusion D'iris, though I'd still class this perfume as a unisex fragrance.

The green and earthy accords dominate in this fragrance the most on me, followed by the woody accord and the powdery iris accord in that order. The bitter, aromatic and green galbanum dominates the opening and is honestly a bit too much for me personally. It isn't as strong as the opening of the original N°19 though and the citrusy and white floral accords from the neroli and the extra citrusy and sweet accords from the mandarin orange tame the opening down somewhat, thankfully.

The heart notes then are all about the iris for me mainly, with just a touch of sweetnesd from a non-indolic jasmine. It makes this perfume very powdery for me and it kind of reminds me of iris scented soap and body products that you would find at a 5 star hotel. It is a very clean and straight from the shower sort of smell.

Finally, the base is dominated by a very woody and slightly dusty smelling vetiver and a very powdery smelling musk. I don't smell any tonka bean at all and I wish that I could smell more of that. The notes in the base combined with the smell you gey from the top notes gives me a slightly scratchy throat and it is a bit too much for me personally.

I got 4 and a half hours wear on my skin with this fragrance and a barely moderate sillage. It almost felt like a cologne you'd splash on in either spring or summer during the day while you go about your business and I can imagine it being very appropriate (for the more serious man or woman) to wear at places like work, where you don't want to offend anyone.

N°19 Poudre by Chanel wasn't bad for me personally but I didn't love it and so that is why I'd only give this fragrance an average 5.5/10.

Silvuna

Lovely, soft, powdery, green with little sweetness fragrance. It would be among my top fragrances but it fades on me in 1 hour? Or at least I can't smell it on me anymore, which is pitty, considering it is edp.

alternateu

I really like this! I think someone called this a rich-bitch perfume, and I absolutely agree. Typically with irises you expect something fluffy, comforting, feminine, and powdery. This is icy-cold, green, and sharp.

Between this and No 19, I find this more unisex. No 19 actually leans unisex to masculine to me (very sharp and green). Longevity and projection are average on my skin, nothing to write home about. On me, predominantly bitter greens and powder. A severe work scent, and I love it.

Between Infusion d'Iris, I get the resemblance at first spray, but No 19 Poudre stays very bitter and green throughout the perfume for me. Infusion d'Iris settles down into this softer, woody, ever so slightly powdery scent. VCA's Bois d'Iris isn't even close to being similar imo - Bois d'Iris is actually sweet and woody to me rather than having any iris prominence.

zefragrancec

if chanel no5 and infusion diris had a baby

Sapienta

Goes in the same line with Prada Iris and Van Cleef Bois d’iris. They are all dry intimate irises. Chanel carries its DNA in front. Projects well actually. Warm weather pulls it out. Amazing sharp green and intimate.

This is a grown up woman, not an adolescent

Ferra_Verto

A beautifully green powdery iris scent, smells like a sweet compact of face powder. I like the tonka addition, makes it a touch warmer.
Best for warm weather, not a major projector but it's not supposed to be.

rosetinteddream

This reminds me of a sugar laced No 19, that’s the vibe I get. It’s not overly sweet, but that tonka definitely stands out. It’s present from the first spray for me. I’ve had my used bottle for almost two years now. At first I wasn’t much of a fan. I got a whiff of “baby wipes” a few times and wouldn’t really wear it. I’ve given it some more love and do like it. But it doesn’t satisfy me the way that No 19 EDT, EDP, and parfum do. It lasts longer on clothes, but I think my other versions of No 19 are better performers and overall nicer compositions.

pinkegobox

I’d say this is my #2 favorite perfume ever after Prada Infusion d’Iris. It’s not for everyone, but those who love dry powder and iris will find exactly what they want in it. It’s comforting in away only iris can be. Almost perfect

chridela

This is a masterpiece, pure and simple. It is worthy of any fragrance collection and I have bought multiple bottles of it through the years - for myself and as gifts. It is perfectly-blended, classy, versatile, and as close to perfume perfection as any fragrance I have encountered. The scent break -down is detailed well by Fragrantica and I won't go into this in detail, only to say that it is the most exquisite green-iris-powder fragrance in my collection.

yacoco

Amazing sexy softy elegant this how should perfume should it can be unisex

Sarahlen

Sad! Such weak staying power I wish I could
Take it back. Fell in love with the EDT no 19 this yr. Wasn’t love at first sniff it was just different, a more summer appropriate fragrance to wear in lieu of my much loved Chanel sycamore, it had its place. As time wore on though, found myself wearing no 19 daily and only loving it more with each spray, more And more in love with the Chanel DNA + greens. Enough to consider ditching all others and making no 19 my signature. The problem was staying power and sillage not great but it’s an EDT of course! Was so excited to try this for a longer lasting version. When I smelled at duty free I almost cried I loved it so much! No 19 with a lipstick edge a violety, Irisy baby powder edge and I do mean edge as in slight bend. Couldn’t get enough at first I told myself I was re applying bc i just loved it so much after about a week i realize this is probably the weakest fragrance I have ever tried. Gone in five minutes, even in my hair. I adore this scent bit it is so bad if I bought it from Sephora I would be returning. Maybe a vintage bottle? Def going for a vintage no 19 EDP.

Evie01

Very elegant makeup powder scent and perfect to wear on a rainy day. It is super feminine, classy and fit for a Princess! It also lasts all day

Abombxxox

I love the classy distinctiveness of Chanel, but the classics like no.5 are a bit too much for me.
I came across an old bottle of this in my great aunt's house months ago while we were cleaning it out for her. There were only about 6 sprays left in the bottom, so I would guess it was at least 10 years old (I read it launched in 2011). After using it a few times, my very fussy partner kept sniffing me and saying how nice it was! The scent lasted overnight and I kept smelling it on myself when I moved around. When I first sprayed, it made me wrinkle my nose as it was extremely sharp and almost smelled like wet soil and bitter herbs. Not the type of perfume I would ever go for, in fact it didn't even smell like a perfume to me, rather like an out of date nail polish remover inside an old cupboard. But after only half an hour warming up on the skin, I loved the deep powdery earthiness and it sweetened considerably, the sharpness disappeared. The baby powder smell surfaced, along with some lipsticky iris and musk.
Since then I have been meaning to purchase my own bottle, which I did yesterday at the Chanel counter in Selfridges. Quite lucky as they had a few in the drawer, but online everywhere it says out of stock, John Lewis, Boots, Fragrance shop etc.
My new bottle has the same bitter earthy sharpness in the opening, but also dries down into the same not-too-sweet tonka, as someone else described a warm cashmere powdery cleanliness that brings out a strong feeling of mature feminine confidence. I can see why it could be described as a wedding day fragrance, although I plan to wear it for work and special occasions, to feel put-together and classy.
The longevity is not the same as my aunts old bottle, but I feel like the scent is extremely similar still. It may be slightly sharper and more polished because it's so new, or because of a tweak in the ratio of each ingredient since 2011, or perhaps a different neroli/iris/mandarin/musk is used. The liquid in her bottle was a deep orange, and it was not kept inside the box (pet hate of mine) but my liquid is a pale green.
9/10 - the next on my list is No.5 L'eau, followed by Coco Madamoiselle

bluesunshine

I’m truly enjoying this flanker of no 19. Perfect springtime scent. Not heavy or too floral. The musk & tonka add a nice warmth. The iris doesn’t stick around long enough for my tastes. But it’s lovely for a few hours. It’s a nice powdery cashmere wrap of a fragrance. It’s very polished as well.

LauraVTerrazas

Wow!!! This is beautiful.
I can't believe I slept on this for so long. I literally just skipped over it any time I would see/hear about it.
Boy was I wrong.
I love this profile.
Iris, powdery green perfume.
Once I finish my decant I will definitely be purchasing a full bottle. So happy I found it. 🥲

ArkangeL

A very green and powdery rendition of No. 5. The most pleasant version next to Première & L’eau in my opinion. A classy fragrance for daytime wear. Mostly white florals dominating the composition, with the perfect amount of tonka to give it a subtle sweetness. Iris is primary, while jasmine is less apparent. Neroli contributes to what makes this fragrance green and provides citrus accents on top of the mandarin. This perfume smells like a beautiful partly cloudy day, strolling through a park in the midst of Spring; encompassed by flowers and trees.

tanaC

Store test,

Clean, Cooling powdery in Baby powder way.
But it’s like expensive baby powder.
It has a green edge, probably Galbanum.

I wear no. 22 today while test no. 19 pourdre.
19 poudre seems flat and linear than 22.

I don’t mind the scent, it is ok.
But I find Prada Iris has better edge for commercially smelling better.
BLV pour Homme, provide similar profile with a bit more woody, spicy edge. So it’s a bit redundant.

Includes with bottle design.
I will probably pass on this one.

Edit 1 : May 9, 2023

It might be crazy but after I am really like 31 Rue Cambon (I kept using it), I crave a green scent with strong beautiful Iris as 31 Rue Cambon.

I am looking either, 19 edt, 19 edp, La Pausa or 19 poudre.

I keep drawing to this.
Might buy one shortly…
=====
Edit 2 : May 14, 2023

I tried sniff test on La Pausa, 19 EDP and Poudre.

I am sorry but I think poudre is weakest offering in the line.

It is very powdery compare to 19 / La Pausa, but it is so bright.

19 supposed to be groom and mute. 19EDP do the trick but I perfers La Pausa the most at it is offering the darkest shade of green.

Olivet09!

This fragrance is one of the softest and greenest fragrances I have encountered. What is nice about it is while the name includes powder it is not terribly powdery. It is very soft and gentle and not at all overpowering. It is made for women, however, I have worn it for about five years, and receive more compliments on this fragrance than any other fragrance that I have. Men should not be afraid to wear it as it sits very well on their skin.

Because it is a soft fragrance heavy sprays are not a bad thing. It will not be overpowering at all.

KippieBall

Beautiful powdery scent. I caught a whiff of the iris almost immediately upon spraying. Then as it dissipates from your skin, you can definitely catch the tonka bean and vetiver in this scent. Wonderful!

Juhhcarneiro2

Hello chanel 19 Poudré, I've wished you for a long time, I love your cousin infusion d'iris prada, you come with a greener iris, the prada has a more incense and woody iris, both powdery, the prada a little more.

For a while I abandoned chanel 19 and wore only his cousin Prada, for some reason it reminded me of something masculine on my skin, maybe the green note.

This week I decided to spray it again on my skin, and I fell in love with it, the smell of wet earth and soft iris. Reminds nature, in a delicate way.

If this perfume were a person, it would certainly be a woman who owns herself, who uses perfume to please herself, without worrying about other people's opinion, someone with a free soul and connected to nature. It's the not-so-simple simplicity of chanel.

I still prefer Prada! But this is my second favorite perfume from the maison chanel, after CM.
As for longevity, I have nothing to complain about, chanel perfumes are great on my skin, in this regard it beats its cousin infusion d’iris.

LauramaK

This is absolutely beautiful. It was a blind buy for me and I am so glad I bought it. Chanel No.19 Poudre is a beautiful feminine fragrance. It's dewy and warm while being chic, clean, and sophisticated. The iris is captivating and reminds me of my mother's beautiful gardens of irises. It does not project as well as other Chanel fragrances but I found that spraying my clothes helps it last longer and be more noticeable. It is one fragrance that draws compliments which are nice although I wear it to please myself. After the initial burst of spicy, foresty Galbanum there's a wonderfully sweet and feminine scent which wafts up notes of jasmine, violet, iris and occasionally musk. Chanel No 19 Poudre is not astringent like most green fragrances but is warm, somewhat soapy and powdery. This is a fragrance for a mature woman who is confident in herself, and is aware of her own strength as well as her femininity. It's ideal for any season and occasion but great for offices and walks outdoors on spring days. It evokes freshly mown grass and parchment as well as vintage clothing. Chanel No.19 Poudre makes me feel beautiful and elegant and is rapidly becoming one of my signature scents.

barry1052

I really liked OG N19 in any concentration but not the poudree version

soso.sofia

A beautiful elegant creation, so masterfully blended. Chanel No 19 Poudre has been an important part of my life, accompanying me through the years in everyday moments, decisive moments, and a very special mention to being the scent of my wedding day (even if it was because I accidentally sprayed this one on me by inertia instead of my intended wedding day perfume, lol). On myself it is a powdery green scent featuring iris and galbanum. It is sweet but in a dry champagne kind of manner. It envelops me in a gauzy air and makes me feel put together and beautiful.

Callista25

Even a year ago this was much stronger. Just got the newly restocked from Chanel website and it is still lovely but EDC strength skin scent now.

aviegravy

baby wipes, unfortunately :/

Callista25

Powdery sweet galbanum iris. For me, poudre is to no.19 what eau premiere is to no.5; a less demanding version I can wear anywhere, anytime and still feel put together.

Like No.5l'Eau, the name set up the perfume for some unfair comparisons.
No.19 poudre is not the work of art no.19 is. It is still green, but the formality and coldness have softened.
Dacob aptly included no. 19 edp and extrait in his top 10 perfumes to wear to court. Meanwhile the poudre version feels like being enveloped in a soft cloud of casual elegance.

My chanel boutique told me that this was discontinued, so I found it online at harrods and payed an extra $40 for it to be shipped to me in the states. This was back in may/June 2022. Now, I see it’s back in stock. I’m not sure why Chanel allows their SAs to straight up lie about the status of products. I guess oh well at this point, but still frustrating.

I’m not at all surprised that I love this so much. To me, this comes off as a very feminine, slightly green, and powdery floral. And the green I’m getting from this one is more of the dry variety. The powder aspect is soft and even slightly flirty. If not flirty, definitely flirty adjacent. A woman aware of her ability to captivate. I was sort of hoping for a bitchy vibe, but I think that’s attributed more to the original 19. Perfumes like this one are the reason I fell in love with perfume in the first place. This is very much a LOVE in my book. I seem to get about 4-5hrs of wear time from it before it starts to become harder to detect… and on my dry skin, that’s pretty much average and what I get from most perfumes so it doesn’t disappoint there. I feel like this one could be worn in any season, and since it doesn’t have a huge projection, I feel like it’s a great choice for the office too. It is more of a daytime scent for me.

————————

After testing side by side with 19… I think the opening of both is almost identical and it’s in the dry down where they distinguish from eachother. 19 has more floral notes to my nose, I can smell the rose and muguet mainly, with green notes still intact and Iris in the same proportion to the other flowers.

And in Poudre, the Iris really is the star of the show. After the initial green opening, it’s mostly the beautiful powdery Iris that I can smell, and indistinguishable floral notes are sort of in the background for me. I feel like this one is the more fancy choice, but both 19 and 19 Poudre are near perfection to me.

And I do also think this is slightly similar to Prada Infusion D’Iris. It’s almost like whoever created that one wanted to emulate the Jacque Polge creation. I could be totally wrong about that, but that’s the impression that I get. Prada’s though, leans a little more unisex to me with the woody notes that it has. Unfortunately, Prada does not have the same longevity as Chanel for me, but I do like the scent.

Kanz Oman

I love this scent sooo much, it's heavenly amazing classic fresh. However, It's also very frustrating how it has ZERO lasting power & no projection at all. I almost showered my self in it & all was gone in less than half an hour for all that price tag.
Seriously chanel !!!
I'd rather go back and repurchase Prada Iris than such disappointing performance of chanel 19!

Elsi

This has been reformulated, only relatively recently. I have worn No. 19 Poudre since 2011 and it's only been with my most recent repurchase have I noticed that the sillage and longevity that once defined this fragrance are now gone. I used to love the sweet, iris, vétiver and musk dry down, often lingering up to 12 hours after initial application, however it's now non-existent. I'm also detecting more violet compared to previous incarnations. For something that's more akin to an EDT, Chanel are still charging the same price and I feel a bit ripped off. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be repurchasing.

Nosyla

Beautiful powdery flanker of No 19, which in itself is the perfect green iris. I only wish No 19 Poudre stuck around for longer. It’s gone in under an hour. I’m glad I own a bottle though, as it is lovely to spritz regularly.

courant

It's discontinued now. I have a couple of back ups. Poudre is a reminder to buy perfume for yourself, to have and to hold, for the way it lingers on your skin, the scent that never annoys or morphs into something you didn't sign up for, the perfect marriage. It manages to suggest without actually manifesting-almonds, marzipan, wedding cake, vows.
Have you ever seen the video clip of Christopher Sheldrake showcasing Chanel's Iris butter? Iris pallida, the roots of which resemble ginger, but are pulverised to make perfumery base. In my horticultural training we split up iris rhizomes, discarding the dead centres, reducing the remaining pieces for replanting and rebirth. There was a mountain of them but slowly it was separated by nimble hands and the gossip of field workers. In each bottle of Poudre, not easily surpassed as a fragrance is a tiny fraction of iris butter. I love that it represents me, is of me, it's personal. Find your bliss.

Dashalu

If you are not the spitting image of pure class, you might feel like an imposter wearing this lol. That was my initial thought upon wearing for the first time. Intimidating but so gorgeous. I quickly got over that. It is the most ethereal airy perfume I’ve ever smelled. I quickly became obsessed with the opening! Like lipsticks, dewy greens, birds singing on the most gorgeous day. I find myself wanting to bathe in it! The opening is so gorgeous…it disappears within 20 minutes though and you find yourself sniffing your skin miserably wanting to smell it again. In that way it’s addicting that you always want to keep spraying/using it. What you’re left with is a faint dust like aura around you that is barely projecting…but when you get a whiff of it, it’s so pleasant! I have the same feeling about fragrances with aldehydes in the opening. Once the beautiful fizz disappears, you want to smell them again. To make it last you’ll need to spray it heavily as well as on fabric/your clothes. The dry down doesn’t make the scent disappear - it just becomes a very soft skin scent. It smells a little different on clothing vs skin but that’s one way to be able to smell it longer. I think it’s meant to be a skin scent where only someone who is intimate enough to be close to you can really smell it. It’s an “old worldly” vintage type of powder without smelling moldy or old. It’s somehow still pretty and clean. There is a VERY subtle candy like note from the violet that reminds me of Insolence from Guerlain, but it’s a lot softer. I love the iris, and the violet. For some reason it reminded me of Barbie or a doll lol. One of those porcelain dolls but instead of smelling old/dirtyish like a thrift store it smells like it was well taken care of. It reminds me of soft pink silk and white leather. The person wearing this gives the impression of flawlessness and perfectionism. Just a very beautiful pretty “perfect” scent. Unique and signature worthy. If the green in the opening remained the same all throughout, I would never want to be without this perfume! If Barbie wore perfume - I picture her wearing this one. I also picture this to be a ballerinas perfume. It has that sadness, perfectionism, and strictness yet delicate and feminine. On skin it turns into clean skin but better kind of thing within an hour or 2. Spraying this after a shower feels amazing. And it has a cooling effect in the hot weather. I pictured a very conservative white and black outfit the first time I sniffed it. Chanel’s white/black outline boxes actually match this perfume the best. It’s “perfect”, and closed off. I’ve never smelled it before and yet it somehow smells familiar. It is a bit cold hearted and very reserved. This scent does not care to appeal or impress others what so ever. Someone said it’s “bitchy”. But I disagree - I feel that this scent isn’t really trying to be anything. And to someone that might seem mean. There is a bit of sadness to that, but at the same time it’s so pleasant to the nose, that I don’t really care. It’s far away from mainstream. This is a good choice if youre in a situation where you want to be very neutral. I’d wear this when dealing with difficult people, or when you want to assert boundaries. I’ve heard someone say that the pure perfume/edp form makes them think of a psychopathic CEO, and I’ve heard a man say that they wear it for difficult court negotiations… and now I understand exactly what those people meant. Number 19 could seem frightening in that way because it lacks that warmth and appeal that we’re so used to from perfumes. I’ve not experienced the EDP but I’ve tested the EDT and loved how GREEN it opened up. Bright fresh and sparkly green. Zingy! This is not very green to me although the juice and notes are. It’s very slightly dewy green with soft powdery iris and a hint of violet. It is beautiful nonetheless but it wouldn’t be used to satisfy a “green fragrance craving” for me. I hate to put a gender on a fragrance…but this is a perfume of a woman. Though I love it I’m thinking to switch for an EDT for more of that green fix. And explore edp eventually. Of course the bottle is gorgeous. The scent is just so beautiful but it’s not green like EDT with added powder which is what I was hoping for. If you’re scared of powder, this isn’t a powder bomb. It’s a little soapy and definitely a warm weather fragrance. very curious about EDP now too if anyone has a decant. What others have said about the atomizer on here is true! It’s like it sprays more and it’s a louder sound than my other Chanels. There is something very satisfying about this atomizer lol.

Chanel No 19 EDP vs. Poudre: the experience on skin is very different from that on the test paper strip. On test paper strip, I preferred Poudre because it is very ethereal, light and delicate, whereas NO.19 EDP is a bit sharp for being woody and earthy. However, once sprayed on skin, the warmth of my skin brings out the roundness and sweetness of the floral notes and the basenotes in No.19 EDP, but Poudre is predominantly musky and powdery, and in the dry-down the powdery-ness becomes much more drier in texture and almost "dust" like. I went into the shop with the intention of getting Poudre but I am glad that I ended up leaving with No.19 EDP instead!

takema

Often, green fragrances are a challenge for me. Most of them smell a little unpleasant to me. No.19 Poudre is an exception for me. I find it one of the most beautiful fragrances. I love the dry, papery iris in the opening which is beautifully complemented by the green notes. This fragrance is romantic, feminine, classy and mature. I don't get much sweetness. Definitely not a sugary or fruity sweetness. The sweetnes that is there is more of the soft green sweetness of new buds in spring. I see the comparison the Prada Infusion D'Iris and agree there is some similarity, especially in the opening. As it dries down No. 19 is more green and powdery than the Prada while the citrus in the Prada is more pronounced. Both are beautiful and two of my go-to subtle fragrances.

This is a longlasting fragrance, but the projection is disappointing. I love the fragrance and am disappointed that it is such an intimate scent. I wish it would float around me all day rather than stay settled on my skin. I've tried overspraying, but it doesn't seem to make a difference. It only projects for about 1-2 hours, but it lasts all day, 8-10 hours, as a skin scent. This does make it a great scent for work if you want something that is classy and beautiful that stays subtle.

I love to wear No 19 Poudre in the springtime. It works well in all seasons and many occasions, but it smells like spring to me. When I wear it I envision a sunny, early spring day. There hasn't been rain for a few days and everything is new and fresh. It's a scent that just makes me smile.

I am curious to try the EDT, because I love this one so much. It's not available in store where I live, so no testers. I will probably have to blind buy it...seems risky for a green scent. I am optimistic though. I have had a lot of success with Chanel overall.

I love the atomizer on this fragrance. While the bottle is the same as the No 5 line, the atomizer is different. It dispenses the fragrance in a long slow fine mist. This allows for an all-over application with just a few sprays.

No. 19 Poudre is a soft, powdery iris-centred update of the classic No. 19. I first smelled this while working as an au pair in France - this was one of the French mother's favourite daytime scents. It retains the greenness of the original while being softer and more muted. Overall, No. 19 is a beautiful, soft and nuanced day scent that feels more modern than the 1970s time capsule that is the original, while retaining a vintage edge. I particularly love an iris note in perfume, and here it is perfection, bolstered by green galbanum and softened by musk. The main issue with this scent is its performance. I find the longevity of the EDP original No. 19 to be disappointingly fleeting, but Poudre is worse - it fades to nothing on my skin in under two hours.

Poudre opens with a beautiful haze of galbanum, quickly joined by powdery iris. It is soft and muted, yet lush and blooming. There is a hint of orange freshness if you look for it. Some clean jasmine emerges after a little while, enhancing the iris nicely, while sharper vetiver enhances the greenness of the galbanum.

As it dries down, it becomes musky, which complements the iris and green notes beautifully. It is very soft, fading quickly to a barely-there powdery, musky skin scent. Sillage is intimate-to-moderate, while longevity is weak. This is very disappointing, as this scent is a love for me except for its abysmal performance. Clean, soft and deceptively simple, Poudre is a beautifully crafted, subtle, springtime day scent. Elegant and feminine, but too discreet to be full bottle worthy. 3.5/5.

brokesta911

Chanel No. 19 Poudre (2011) - powdery galbanum - #jacquespolge ‘s perfume combines the soft powdery smell of Iris. I also get dewy Neroli and lush Jasmine. Yet, mixed with green Galbanum, Vetiver and Musk - it becomes this steely cold figure that masks all emotion.

upk

The green and fresh scent of Galbanum is combined with the bitter citrus of orange to create a deep breathing scent of nature.
A refreshing and clean unisex scent.

As I was deciding which version of No. 19 to spray, the clerk mentioned to me that if I didn't like this scent AT ALL, I wouldn't like ANY iteration of this scent. I guess that's how flankers work...you spray it on, and you say to yourself "I just wish the X component was stronger, and that Y was less prominent..."
I found myself like this, like, 6 or 7 out of 10, but felt that the floral-sweet elements detracted from the iris. For this reason, I'm looking forward to trying out either the EDT or EDP, and hopefully finding the combo that works for me...
Nonetheless, this is STUNNING, and would be perfect for the right person, but not for me. It just needs a few tweaks to fully maximise its potential here...

What is everyone else smelling?? I find this nothing at all like Prada Infusion d'Iris. To me that's just pencil shavings & a pinch of iris as an afterthought. No.19 Poudre is totally different, not just in-your-face cedarwood (the prada is v little else!) this is the epitome of 'your skin but better' or how I've imagined those kind of scents to be, far more so than the 90s version of the Body Shop's White Musk, which was my previous best idea of that kind of feeling. I tried both 19s yesterday in store. Don't think I've ever even seen them around to test before. I LOVED both. The edp reminds me of hyacinths, not the straight hyacinth scent but that springy fresh watery feeling & an overall sense of them. The poudre is so smooth, nothing at all sticks out alone & I don't recall smelling either on anyone else ever. The sales woman only had a huge bottle of either n I couldn't get both so at a pinch I decided the Poudre was better, smoother, more rounded, not too sweet n more suitable for all seasons. The vetiver here is blended into the backgorund & doesn't leap out in a masculine way. I will definitely get No.19 at some point as well though. I did go round all the stores in my town before going back to the first one to see if there was anything other than a huge bottle but there wasn't. The Chanel assistant said it's not discontinued they just haven't made enough of it lately. As for longevity I could smell this on my jumper still 24hours later & all I did were a few test sprays in store, I haven't opened the bottle yet. This is pure class & you are extremely unlikely to smell it on anyone else so is a perfect signature scent, unlike Coco Madmoiselle, worn by the world n his wife. I should've tried this years ago! Genuinely beautiful.

I have always admired Chanel no 19, but it has never been my scent. I tried the Poudre one day at a department store and was shocked by how fun the opening is. The marketing talks about "new musks" but I was jus hit by 1990's Alyssa Ashley, through my facemask!

So Poudre has that sweeter, muskier, aspect in addition to that green spring garden of the original no 19. In the dydown it also becomes very, very iris powdery.

Like everyone says, it disappears. Or stays really close to the skin. I spray my skin generously when I wear this.

karinatfragrantica

Very weak unfortunately. It becomes a skin scent after less than one hour....

Deppaholic

Finally got my hands on a bottle of this. I never have tried it before, and thought I'd give her a spin. Wah, backordered on Chanel.com and was chomping at the bit, hoping they didn't discontinue.

I wear No 19 EDP in the spring, and love it! It is perfect for the rainy slightly warmer days.

I have Prada d'Iris and never reach for it. Loved it once. But only go for No 19 EDP in the spring, sometimes No 19 EDT also. Prada is good, this is better (on me).

Having said all that, I will say, testing this in Dec ~ on me, is more rounded, not as sharp as EDP reg. No 19. I love this Poudre version tho. I can see me being a repeat buyer for this. I'm sucker punched when it has Iris in it, powder and galbanum. Also, when I see the JP name, I don't know, but he makes perfumes for my body chemistry. Honestly everything he makes, works on me. "Long live Jacques Polge".

Jaeyoung07

Reading the reviews made me want to buy this perfume - and in fact, I did (around 80 USD for a second-hand unused 50 mL bottle). To be honest though, I was kinda disappointed with the fragrance mainly because of the very strong (and unpleasant) top notes this perfume has. My guess is it’s either the galbanum or the mandarin orange. It’s too strong (punches you in the face) and borderline pungent. Thankfully, once these top notes are gone the perfume transforms into this beautiful earthy and flowery scent that everyone would be craving for. I would go on to say it’s perfect for sex since the scent is very sensual and tempting (it really draws you into where the scent was sprayed). Sillage is slightly weak (though borderline decent), and longevity is not that great. I like this perfume overall but definitely won’t buy it at full price.

LeSucreRose

I’ve wanted this one for a long time and my husband just bought it for me for Christmas. It’s a definite love and it just knocked Guerlain’s L’Instant Magic out of my top 5. It may even be my favorite Chanel now. We’ll see. I just love the green note and powder combination.

Diari

Does anyone notice how the sprayer of this is different from other bottles housed in the No.5 design? It has a slight resistance so the mist seems to almost come out in slo-mo, and so very fine; I find the same mechanism appears on those Les Eaux bottles. Chanel might've given Poudre this sprayer to encourage generous spraying—and for good reason.

On my skin the throat-slicing galbanum only growls for a total of 30 minutes before turning into a melodic hum, leaving sweet tonka bean and billowy musks to dance with the iris.

No.19 Poudre is the youngest daughter in a family of girl bosses. Born into wealth, she has the least childhood trauma of all. While being both pleasant and playful, she can rock a smart look of pencil skirt and red lipstick during family gatherings without looking as gaunt as her mother and siblings.

Now please if you have time: go watch "Emma." (2020). Emma Woodhouse the eponymous character would wear this scent, don't you think?

Adriennne

I do not like Chanel No.19 and I am not head over heels for Chanel chance eau fraiche, so I was scared that I will not like this one either. But it turned out I loved it.
* This is the best green perfume!
I want to buy it for spring. But I will have to test it again on my skin, because it is very expensive.
* Husband was not a fan of any green perfume I tested with him. He randomly says "Get Coco Mademoiselle". hehe

EDIT: I tested it again. I did not like it as much. Smells like green flower stems and hyacynth to me. Zero lasting power /the same as Omnia Crystalline/.

Sunkissed

I was expecting to love it and I had it on my want list, but unfortunately all I get is a playdough note. Surrounded by a soft mist of green... but a playdough note nonetheless. I can't find any reviews saying the same and I don't know why I smelled that. Maybe the tester had gone bad? I'm jealous of the people who love this.
I'm a fan of most Chanel perfumes, I wear many of them, and so far even the ones I do not like much, I do appreciate knowing they are just not for me. I will try it again someday because I'm stubborn, but I might have to skip this one.

sthgood_sthfun

I like this scent, no.5 is way too overwhelming on me, but this clean green floral scent is perfect for my taste.
However the longevity is SOOOO weak, it lasts only 4 hrs on me, EDP? More like a EDC, luckily I got mine in a good price from a nice lady.
Will never purchase it again in the full price if I finished my bottle.

ChesterVa

With all the comparisons to the gorgeous Infusion D'Iris, I had to try this and even sprung for a full bottle blind buy. Luckily I got a good deal and like so many Chanel scents, this is a gorgeous perfume. The best description I read of it , describes it as a greener version of Infusion D'Iris, especially true at first spray. I love powdery scents, both Prada and Chanel have so many. I do think this Chanel comes on a bit stronger and lasts longer than Prada, but that is true it seems for most Chanel products I have tried.. Prada has some of the most perfectly beautiful scents, but they are so light and don't seem to last. On the other hand they are cheaper and more frequently discounted. No 19 Poudre seems to be a typical, refined Chanel scent. If you like Infusion D'Iris and want something just a bit stronger, with a tiny hint of the original No 19 added in , that will just become a powdery skin scent this is a pleasant choice. For myself, Infusion D'Iris still wins.

Christine 78

The scent is really lovely, but on me it turns into a skinscent after 10 minuts!
Totally gone after an hour. 😳

mellyv1973

Pleasant, green, powdery...overspray on skin and clothes & this will last 6 hours. Really enjoy this and don't feel like it smells like Prada Infusion d'Iris because Prada's is sweeter & brighter. This one is more mature/serious. Just my opinion.

valevaleria

Opens up very herbal and after 15 minutes a subtle iris comes up. If you like infusion d'Iris de Prada, you will like this one because after the opening that is what it transforms into.

anelia_bg

Do you know that Poudré version smells exactly like Prada Infusion D’Iris 2015😊

SanyaL2404

Chanel No 19 POUDRE Edp I have used as my signature scent for 10 years. Don’t really know the number of bottles I’ve spent in that period of time but I can assure you that nothing has changed since the day it was released. No 19 Poudre is a totally different perfume than No 19 so please stop putting them in the same category! Poudre is a wonderful and classy scent and its silage is moderate, which means it doesn’t leave your personal space. Only people who have come within the arm length of me could feel it and believe me, compliments were falling like a rain! Mr. Jacques Polge knew how to make an exceptional perfum as we all know very well. Poudre is a delicate and sophisticated scent that makes every woman feel so classy and feminine and makes men want to hold you in their arms just a little bit longer with their nose on your neck. ;) While working in India, ladies who eventually became my dear friends, literally begged me to bring them a bottle of Poudre when I was going back home on a holiday, so every time I went back from Europe to India I was taking couple of Chanel No 19 Poudre bottles with me, to make them “ feel elegant “ as they used to say. Don’t compare this perfume to any other, Poudre is a masterpiece that some will understand and feel with every fiber of their being, while some will stay blind to forever.

Anamandy

I purchased this last winter and after one wearing put it away because the performance was abysmal. I thought it might behave differently in warmer weather, and also letting it sit and maturate more fully might help too. It doesn't and it didn't. This still has terrible performance issues, no matter the weather; and letting it sit around longer didn't make any difference either. While I think it is beautiful, and I do love that it is more powdery compared to the edp and edt (but honestly, I don't think by all that much), it breaks my heart that the only way I can smell it is to smell directly where I sprayed. I'm not surprised that the sprayer on the bottle is designed to give a wide, continuous misting. I think Chanel did that deliberately to make us think it should be treated like a body mist, which is fine, except this performs worse than any body mist on the market, including a $5 bottle of literally anything sold in Walmart. Chanel should be ashamed to release a product that's little better than water. They are really riding on their brand name with this one. I should have sent this right back when I had the chance. Now it is too late. The only way I could salvage this is to use it in conjunction with the edt or edp. Hopefully, it will help amp up the powdery facet in them. Outside of that, I consider this a major waste of money.

Parismoor

a few minutes after the mandariny opening, which I´m always waiting to dissapear for, it becomes a cloud of very smooth, like a cotton wool irisy something. it makes me want to put powder on my skin! the musk is not really noticeable to me (fine, beacause usually I hate srong musk in scents), the iris cold and unsweetened. the greenness more in the backround. Chanel DNA powderiness that comes out like steam from the CHANEL bottle...

MorganaLeFey

I smelled this perfume a couple of years ago and it stayed in the back of my mind ever since, so I caved in and brought a bottle. With this, you'd think I would know how to describe it, yet I really don't. It has a sharp, green opening, very vivid like a flashing image, fields of iris for miles, then it becomes more powdery and sweet. It's a nostalgic scent that makes you long for memories you haven't made yet. It's very elegant, but not that kind of scent that demands you to wear heals or dress up, it makes me think of elegant souls, that inner grace that some people posess because they were born with it, and it has nothing to do with the image you give.

HappyWhenItRains

No 19 without any sharp edges. As a fan of the blazing green scents of the 70s this is a bit too mellow for me. Ok for me only in really high temperatures but otherwise I think it’s too soft.

Zethre

Slightly sweet, possibly from the tonka, powdery, musky, green at first, then more of a caramel vanilla type sweetness, but not sugary sweet. Nice. Kind of like an iris/tonka version of Estee Lauder's Sensuous. Reminds me of someone, not sure who

MademoiselleMaya

Classy, clean and fresh grown-up scent that evokes gentle breeze during the spring.
It is decidedly an iris scent, supported by neroli that adds crispness and galbanum that curbs the sweetness of iris and freshness of neroli. You can detect also a clean musk that gives a soapy edge but in a good spectrum - smells like a freshly bathed skin. Vetiver gives the scent some roots :)
Not my personal type, but still - I like it.
It is a good creation and one can expect to grow into it with time.
It smells perfect on clothes too, it is office friendly, formal even.

SuzanneS

Powdery green 19esque. 19 with training wheels. Nice

It's perfect for spring! I guess it's my favorite version of N19 as it feels modern and sensual. When I spray my hair, the scent lasts the whole day. I couldn't rave enough about it!

Violinplayah

Oh this is a lovely nostalgic fragrance! Green and powdery with a vintage tone. It doesn’t remind me of a particular person but of a time period. Very light, but easy elegance for a warm day.

Update: sadly this fragrance has the worst performance of any in my collection. Even after generous spraying, within an hour it is barely a skin scent. Very disappointing, especially for the price. And now I’ve completely fallen in love with it! Gah!

LaContessina

I am a real fan of the original No.19.
No. 19 Poudré is a different frag than the original No.19.
Poudré is a good fragrance. And I said good, not excellent nor a masterpiece.
I was so happy when I initially sprayed it - inhaling I said, "wow, here is the No 19" - indeed the first seconds the two fragrances are identical: Green! Vetiver! Yay!
But then Poudré develops in its own way, reveling a milder nature (while No. 19 is reflecting a powerful, fierce woman) and a romantic spirit. I smell some jasmine and iris I guess.
But it's not a powdery or a cold iris. The powderiness comes from the aldheides.
Yes, it's a Chanel (like The Guerlains all have their Guerlinade!) and you get it by the aldheides.... that are emerging from the middle notes until the drydown.

Unfortunately - and this is the bummer for me - from there on I can only smell the powdery aldheides and the rest of the frag is exactly like N°5 Eau Première - I just don't need another version of it.
What a waste! One is almost a clone of the other! Instad of cloning the No. 19, they cloned Eau Première.
Mind you, Poudré is a good perfume, very elegantly conceived, easy to wear, office friendly, you name it, but it lacks personality, at least in my opinion.
Good sillage, average lasting power (4 hours max).
In a nutshell: good to try, easy to sport, but not to die for.

Sigh. I love this so much that I can absolutely see it becoming my signature scent - if it wasn't for the dismal longevity and lack of projection. I've tried adding it to unscented lotion, treating it like a body spray - you name it. Nothing really helps make it more than the most intimate of skin scents. But Chanel has me with this one. I will continue to purchase it as long as it is made, simply to enjoy it's fleeting beauty on my own.

CurrencyThat

No 19 Poudre is fresh, green and powdery. It opens up as a deep citrus that isn't quite light & airy but also isn't bitter. There's a greenness in its opening that keeps it grounded and 'put-together' for lack of a better analogy. It dries down to a powdery freshness all the while retaining a soft greenness. It's quite delightful and timeless. Elegant and fit for year-round wear.

Christinageor10

Beautiful, fresh, powdery iris scent! Perfect for any occasion in my opinion. Men give me compliments when I wear this as well.

lyka

Mc1995

Hmm interesting one. This is like a green version of Chanel No.5- which is more of a yellow scent. This is even lighter than No.5 though, great bedtime scent or just overall dusting of a scent. Not super amazing but not bad. Not surprised it ended up discontinued, it’s just not special enough for mass appeal. Initial spray is a bit hairspray but dries down to a nice skin scent, A makeup powderey smell. In a good way. I do think it’s a good flanker of No.19 though. If you dig the makings of the original but it’s maybe too earthy for you, this is a good alternative. I don’t know that I’d say it’s even worth the big prices though. Try to find a sample first I’d say.

Josesalinas

Strong Iris perfume and also super GREEN! Evokes a makeup scent like a face powder its also pretty cold/icy, sillage is great lasts all week on a jacket. Very similar to Dioramour but that's more of a greasy lipstick direction

Tolkashutka

Maybe I need to give my little 2 mL decant another try, but it appears that the two most recent reviewers share my opinions on this.

I know "poudre" is french for powder, but jumpin' Jehoshaphat, I was hoping for a little more than just that. Based on the supposed notes, I was very curious to sniff out the supposed neroli, iris, and vetiver/musk--but I get absolutely none of that. In fact, this might be more powdery to my nose than frickin' Love's baby soft.

I'm hoping that this was just an utter fail because of the season, and I will update the review when it's a proper spring day. No votes or button clicking at this time other than just the review.

lavender_wind.

Perhaps this perfume does not agree with my body chemistry. It smells stuffy, aged, and lackluster. Glad I only bought a sample. Somehow, it reminds me of the cheap knock offs from the 90's in the discount department stores... Definitely a no for me, and not a safe blind buy.
For reference, I like Elie Saab Le Parfum, Parfums de Marley Habdan and Athalia, several Jo Malone's colognes (Pomegranate Noir, Lime Basil Mandarin, Grapefruit). Thus if you like fruity and intense white florals, this perfume may not float your boat...

C. A. Jónsdóttir

I love the opening where the green is just for a moment a bit sparkly. I wish this lasted. It smells like good manners but never in an affectatious way. It exudes something very grounded but still classy and elegant. It is the First Lady horseback riding.

xpetra82

I like it a lot .it is crisp, clean and sexy in a very uniqe way (not sweat sexy like every parfum nowadays). But it doesn't smell as luxary as i would expect from a chanel. It smells like '90s to me .I bought it blindly i liked it at first but it doesnt suit to my colection so i gave it away.

Edit: Reconsidered...it has, 19th DNA after all.... it hasn't got that vintage vibe ...but sometimes i just want feel flirty and i need this...so i repurchased!

turkishgirl

smell 95% like infusion d'iris by prada! but more powerful and longer lasting! love it such a classy scent

frangiris

I wanted to add to my previous review by saying that it also has a calming effect. It reminds me of a luxurious soap in an expensive hotel. Very cosy and reassuring.

mdluli

I find this fragrance sweet I don't enjoy it very much.Maybe it will grow on me I prefer the EDT No 19.

frangiris

I bought a used bottle of this fragrance, and I am absolutely in love with it. The opening reminds me a little bit of Cristalle, in the same green vein although Cristalle is a lot more sharp. In the dry down it is like a cleaner and less spicy version of No 5.

I think it is a very pretty, elegant and beautiful fragrance. It is not at all syrupy sweet, just very light and floral/powdery and a bit warm. Probably suitable for women of any age. It smells put-together, pure, classic, elegant, expensive, natural, introverted and calm. Well mannered. Not at all provocative or risky.

The scent works very well on a rainy day in autumn. It has that slightly melancholic undertone, still beautiful, not harsh. Whereas Cristalle would suit better on a bright outdoors spring day full of energy, No 5 for an elegant evening full of joy, and Coco Mademoiselle for the signature of a young woman, I think this is the perfect scent to wear on special occasions to feel extra refined, pure, almost angelic. Like many have mentioned, a wedding. But it wouldn't offend anyone during daily use either.

Miasha

Wedding dream...
...but since it takes so long for me to get someone to marry me, I guess I will just have to buy this anyway.

Neosmiaphyte

Soft, plush, silky high-end powder. Supported by galbanum, it is a more interesting and lush iris than Prada, but the lasting powder isn't there. It is a pure skin scent, nose-to-skin needed. If the initial 15 minutes would be bigger and last, it would be my signature scent. OR if the price point allowed for generous sprays and reapplications. This is the only fragrance I find to be appropriate while holding an infant. It would also be appropriate dancing in an evening gown. It has a feminine, my-skin-but-better cleanliness on the dry down. Work or boudoir appropriate

April338

I had great expectations for this fragrance but sadly it did not work on me. The vetiver in this fragrance turn to into a dirty armpit smell. Imagine a powdered dirty armpit. I scrubbed it off and I could still smell it on my skin. It gave me a headache. I wouldn’t consider this a safe blind buy. Definitely test it out before you purchase.

liligen

I've been obsessed with Poudré, Chanel no 19 EDT and the EDP. For weeks I've been trying to make up my mind on which one to get and I think I'm heading towards getting all of them. I'm in love.

Chanel no 19 poudré is truly beautiful. It's a bouquet of iris which mellows down to a nice sweet vanilla note. The only criticism I have is that I wish the experience of the opening notes would last longer. However it didn't stop me from getting it. (spring, summer, early fall)

Chanel no 19 EDT doesn't have that sweet note. On the opposite, it's green and crisp and that's what you get. It's longer lasting than the Poudré version and it is the "bitchiest" in my opinion. (spring, summer) - also my bf's favorite on me.

The 19 EDP is rounder and more complexe because of the added rose notes. I initially fell in love with this version. (fall, winter)

Addict2Perfume

Chanel No 19 Poudre by Chanel smells of bitter green galbanum, dusty-cold iris, and woody vetiver. I imagine very pristine women and vintage Hollywood starlets in black and white movies with their perfectly tailored high fashion clothes. Not a hair out of place, flawless red lipstick, and she exudes the opulence of a diamond. The jasmine and neroli poke through in the dry down making this smell like the most divine ivory soap. No 19 is pure class all the way!

Not a Perfume Collector

Super Dacob said it best "Poudre is the cotton candy version of Chanel 19 - as cotton candy as Chanel no 19 can get because chanel 19 has no sweetness...." I agree 100%

churinl

Love at first sniff for me!! I am relieved that I find it different from Prada Infusion d'Iris. It is deeper and more powdery than IdI, which I find to be very airy and green, more like an EDT than an EDP. I just doused myself in Poudre and while I know I am somewhat anosmic to iris much to my dismay, I can still detect it and I love it here. This is now my ultimate iris. Other true loves include the Prada, Acqua di Parma Iris Nobile, and Love Chloe, which are all different, interesting, and beautiful in their own right. Not to say the others aren't, but this is so refined and elegant that it makes ME feel refined and elegant!
I am not going to go into notes because so many of you have done a wonderful job doing so, and I haven't gotten to the dry down yet. The only negative is what has also been pointed out by so many. It is very weak, with low sillage, and while I can not speak to the longevity yet, I can tell that it will likely be at best a real skin scent sooner rather than later. I don't mind though, as I can spray all I want and get my iris on anytime I want! A masterpiece.

churinl

Question - I just ordered this for my birthday. Just how similar IS it to Prada Infusion d'Iris? IdI seems to be the reference perfume by which almost all modern irises are compared. I have it and I love it (have the Absolu as well), but I don't want to spend the money on something that is nearly identical to what I already have. For that matter, I also own plain old No. 19 EDP! Would love to hear some opinions, so please PM me if you have one!

GoodVibrations

Green galbanum-iris-jasmine-vetiver accord that transcends the sum of the notes with Chanel depth, enveloped in a signature Chanel olfactory cabochon. The iris has a plush texture. In the extended dry down there’s an aura of gently powdery peppery self-assured freshness that commands sincere compliments. But it’s one to wear for one’s own joy. It is its own reward.

Toromusic2020

I love this one so much.
I enjoy both the green and fresh opening ( just like No 19 EDT/EDP) as well as the powdery musky slightly sweeter ( Tonka beans) dry down. It’s a tricky one to describe because it’s constantly changing and developing on me. It has a vintage vibe and I could imagine a mature lady loving this ( my grandmother might have had Chanel no 19. I’m not sure. Maybe it’s my imagination as I think of her when smelling this..) And that’s a good thing to me.
I wear it on spring mornings to work or just at home. It’s so classy and sophisticated like an expensive soap.
It’s one I wear for myself, not to attract compliments or attention. It’s not “loud” but rather closer to the skin and I think its perfect for this kind of scent. longevity is ok, 5,6 hours on my skin. The dry down is so beautiful, like a hug. Just love this.

wenna41

...what a conundrum- a case of "pure ecstasy and sheer agony", for it is indescribably beautiful and refined but unbelievably fleeting and transient...

Anast4s1a

A delicious, charming fragrance, in spring it just unmatched.
The invisible veil.
For all times, and that means it can be attributed to the masterpieces. This is noble, airy powderelyness with a refined fresh green nuances. Chanel 19 Poudre as if envelops by in irise mist so tender and cozy. A sophisticated, elegant, daytime & a truely Chanel perfume.

gracemg23

This is truly a beautiful perfume, and I wanted so badly to love it. It is green, powdery, and very soft. Springtime in a bottle. Mature. Sophisticated. A little cold. However, I struggle with green notes, and I prefer warmer perfumes. So, this will only get a "like" for me, and I will be swapping my bottle. I do worry I will regret finding this girl a new home in the future, but it just doesn't "fit" me that well. I can't imagine myself reaching for it often. If you are looking for a delicate, clean, powdery fragrance -- this is for you! Very professional and elegant. I can see this working in the office or even on a date (depending on the vibe you want to give off). It's much more a daytime than nighttime wear, but this is easily signature scent worthy, in my opinion.

Fleurpetit

This is a magical green bucks fizz of a perfume. If you like Prada Infusion d Iris, Poudre will be right up your alley. I have both but prefer the Poudre’. If only it lasted!
Poudre just has that extra zing.. it’s like in between a laundry detergent crossed with sherbet.. the reason being, the effervescence has finer bubbles rather than being overly harsh. If CHANEL could produce this same perfume with the longevity so I didn’t have to keep reapplying by the minute, this would easily be my signature. Alas, for now layering Iris Infusion with Poudre will have to do. Iris Infusion is very similar but is flatter and lacks the love.. but I love both each in their own right.

MarianB

I wanted this one so badly. On paper it smelled heavenly. Soft, green and expensive. However, on my skin it was the opposite. First it smelled like an old ladies wardrobe, then it smelled like cat pee and after half an hour I finally smelled the gorgeous perfume I wanted so much. That lasted for 10 minutes, after that it was vanished. Unfortunately, it's not for me

Happyme2009

Ethereal , heavenly soft. Next to zero silage. Starts green and colognish , turns iris powdery and ends up with the same base as Chanel 5 edt . This is it to sum it up .
I own the Chanel 19 edt vintage which is way stronger than this. And this is an edp. But in terms or wearability I definitely love this more. The Chanel 19 edt is hard to wear, it’s green and bitter and you need the right attitude and mood to pull it off. Chanel 19 Poudre is just beautiful even though the performance is so poor. It’s way overpriced for the lack of silage. I know iris is never loud and in your face, and this is ultimately an iris scent, but still .
It’s a blind buy for me.
Very beautiful , sad, meditative , melancholic ... not a trace of sexiness . Like a young and beautiful nun confined to monastery for life by her own choice ... carrying a secret or a deep pain from the past . It is wet foggy and soggy day today and this fits perfectly . Smells like fog itself indeed. I love it.

Catsylvania

I got the first 2011 edition and I remember hating it back when it was first released. Luckily, we all change with time.

At first I was for some odd reason anosmic to this frag. I'd feel it for about 15min and that's it. It took me a while experimenting with it and the amount I used and turns out, it was just a process of getting used to the scent itself, and after a couple of weeks I could finally smell it on myself all day long. So if you're somebody who's been put off this scent because it seemingly doesn't last long, perhaps, being extra patient and giving it a long-term chance might help.

I'm a typical Shalimar girl, and no. 19 Poudre was certainly a stretch from my comfort zone. The green bitterness and the powderiness with completely no sweetness made this scent very refreshing and a huge pleasure to use during the hot times of the year. I also found that Poudre is great to sleep in because of how soothing and calming it feels.

Poudre has become my to-go frag when I feel like I either want a break from my regular incense-heavy frags or if I need some kind of a refreshment.

The silage is very good, and I've had people call Poudre a very strong scent so even when I was just starting to use it and was somewhat anosmic to it, there was certainly no problem with silage and longevity. Very long-lasting and I'd still have it linger around late at night.

I highly recommend to give this chap a chance, and I agree with others, Prada's Infusion d'Iris has a lot in common with Poudre.

cemrelo

I can't stand this smell. green notes (probably galbanum) gives me headache. I can't carry the iris without a sweet side.
this can be the perfume of a cool, confident, ambitious woman. did not fit me.
stays on the skin for a long time. greens never stop. At the end a dirty iris remains in your hand. root smell with weeds. earthy.
I think its for the spring.

hannasevsay

It is a very soft warm and hugging fragrance that is perfect for winter . I wear it with a cashmere sweater or scarf

mewwt

After the initial sharp opening Chanel No. 19 Poudre envelops you in a comforting soft-green blanket. It stays close to the skin.

Jacklyn's Perfumery

Chanel No 19 Poudre. What a break from the usual mainstream. It's so different, yet classy. What a beautiful take on a soft powdery Iris scent. It is a spring time or daytime scent. It's sophisticated, but it's not for everyone. You have to love green notes like in the family of Mugler's Aura. It's feminine, it's delicate, but it's for a woman who know's what she loves and is confidant in her own skin. It's not to fit in with the mainstream I'll tell you that! I have come to appreciate this fragrance. The Iris note in this is so stunning and men love this fragrance. Men love outdoor fragrances with green notes, woodsy notes and iris, so it's no surprise when I hear countless testimonies of men saying they adore this fragrance. I still have yet to try Chanel No 19! I don't know if it would be for me, but I'm one of those women that when I love a house and it's offerings I have to investigate and study a fragrance to appreciate it if it's not my thing at first. This fragrance has above average longevity of 4-6 hours minimum and sillage is beyond arm's length. Hopefully sometime soon I will get to try the original 19, but for now this fragrance Is one I had to have in my collection of fragrances just because she stands out so well and the bottle is so pretty and so many love it and it's one that while it is different I still enjoy the beauty of her difference.

msiska

This is in a league of its own. It's so soft, so sophisticated, so classy. Absolutely above fashion trends, a true modern interpretation of a classic.
Orris and tonka, who'd have said it's such a heavenly combo.
I was looking for a classic fragrance and I chose this mostly because my grandma, whom I loved very much, used to wear Chanel No. 19. So I guessed this modernized version could be such a treat for me.
It is very wearable. Very grown up, but not mature or even old fashioned. I don't feel like I need to be all dressed up to wear No. 19 Poudré. Still, there is a distinct feeling about it - the feeling of staying on top of things. I can find no better way to describe it than by saying the fragrance just feels queenly. Yes, with No. 19 that's just the word.

hadassa

@ION, you might have developed anosmia to this scent, I also had it in the past, I used to feel the openings and then an hour or so, after that - nada. However, I came back to this perfume after a couple of years and suddenly discovered that it's very strong, just one spray is enough and lasts for around 6 hours at least. Now I remember how I sprayed like crazy a couple of years ago because I did not feel the scent, and people around me were suffocated ;) It's really strong

ION

This is a marvellous perfume I advise you not to buy. Two generous sprays on my left arm and two hours later nowhere to be found. Nothing! Disappeared.
I have instead bought a 30ml copycat that actually smells better than the current version of no 19 Poudre and also lasts longer (for a fraction of the price).
Same with their latest batch of No.5.

I wanted to buy it because it is a very refined and classy professional perfume with a distinct character that everyone notices, but it has severe longevity issues nowadays.

Ps. If anyone at Chanel wants a sample of my copycat of no.19 Poudre for analyzing, feel free to contact me. And I am serious here..

DrRosie

This screams, "Don't pay attention to my jeans and flat shoes, pay attention to my fragrance". Perfume is personal magic. It is a first impression and a lasting recollection"(cannot recall where I read this) but smelling this reminded me of this quote. Always remember "
"A woman's perfume tells more about her than her handwriting" - Christian Dior

colorfulmess

I must be anosmic, I can't smell anything but my husband can. He says it smells like I threw baby powder everywhere. Unfortunate that I can't smell it since I love powders + greens and I heard this one is one of the best of that iteration. Another Chanel strike out for me...so far Allure is the only one that works.

courant

I join the ranks of those who feel they need to 'va va voom' this fragrance and layer it with another. I was looking for suede effects, so I used 'Daim Blonde' and it's very spendy smelling, like money. I will try and find a sample of Avon Haiku for that recommendation.

Rux2589

Effortless elegance in a bottle. I find it to be similar to Infusion d'Iris, but with one significant difference: I can't possibly imagine wearing Chanel 19 Poudre with jeans and flip-flops. I sprayed it before going outside in a short summer dress and it felt inappropriate. For me, this smells like a business scent for women age 35+. I will be wearing it to the office for sure. I do think 'effortless' is a good word though, because it doesn't scream 'notice me' or 'look at me I am powerful', rather it is like a confident, self-assured woman who sits back and amuzes herself at the younger ones who are trying to be noticed and are competing for attention. Longevity is reasonable. I also love the tonka and vetiver, delicious combo. Signature candidate, for sure.

perfumeaddiction

Gorge!!! I was never to keen on the original 19. I think it transported me back in time a bit. So I took my time to smell this one as I thought I probably would not like it. Surprise surprise... it's lovely. Hiding in the background is the original 19 but it's sprinkled with a much more modern wearable edge. It's been masterfully crafted and updated to a more youthful version. I love it. It does bare resemblance to Prada Infusion D'Iris but it's no dupe. So you can easily own both and tell the difference.

kwanpekyee.1

a classic chypre given a modern twist compared to older sister No. 19
Soft beautiful, wearable for the modern younger ladies..anytime anywhere..

Aurabella

Beautiful just beautiful this is how I imagine angels would smell, I love the sweetness of the Tonka bean in the dry down, this is a true masterpiece worthy of the Chanel name, I just wish it would last a bit longer, but still worthy of the title of my favourite Chanel, move over coco Mademoiselle intense, you’ve just been knocked off your top spot.

joliecat

Oh, I LOVE the smell of Chanel 19 Poudre ! This was gifted to me from a wonderful friend. Beautiful soft chic lightly powdered scent that's cooling, rich, and pleasant. All by itself, Chanel 19 Poudre is a good office friendly perfume, non offensive, and like all current Chanel perfumes, barely noticeable after the first hour.

As many others have said, the projection and lasting power isn't very good, but mixed with other truly long lasting scents, Chanel 19 Poudre projects and lasts.

I spray on Avon Haiku, let it dry about 20 minutes, then spray Chanel 19 Poudre over it. Chanel 19 Poudre overcomes the scent of Haiku and takes the lead. Avon Haiku lends tremendous lasting power and projection to Chanel 19 Poudre, up to 12 hours on my skin.

Maybe some day, Chanel will learn to add the same ingredient other companies have discovered, that gives projection and lasting power to perfumes.

Flowercat

Oh YESSS! This is the soft, powdery, gentle statement I’ve been searching for in a perfume since they reformulated Love’s Baby Soft! Yes, I’m comparing this grownup and refined Chanel beauty to the innocent spray that got me addicted to perfumes as a child! It’s a high compliment! What they share is not so much their scents as their ethereal, dreamy clean powder hearts.
The first spritz was admittedly the green note that I’d read about here...very pleasant but not my thing, and I was delighted that almost instantly after that first second, the incredibly fresh powder essence dominates. And within that, iris? Iris is not familiar to me but I think I must love it if that’s the elegant flowery smell blending with the powder.
My Hypnotic Poison will have to slide over and make room for my new signature scent, beautiful Chanel No. 19 Poudre.
I’m so glad I trusted the positive reviews here and blind ordered it. Great job, reviewers!

Next day edit: As someone else here observed, Chanel 19 Poudre blends and harmonizes amazingly with other fragrances! I sprayed both of my favorites—it and Hypnotic Poison—on my wrists this morning and got a gorgeous new, sweeter love child of the two of them!!! Intoxicatingly beautiful!

Swedelish

I'm back with Chanel and falling in love all over again. They were my first true perfume loves, now we've come full circle. I agree with the reviewer who said this is one of Chanel's best creations, if not the best certainly alongside Coromandel. These 2 are so outrageously beautiful and well crafted it hurts. 19 Poudre is elegant and poised but warm at the same time. There's strength to it, and then softness & compassion so it strikes as matronly in the best way possible. I do not mean only mothers should wear it. It serves as a comfort scent, whether you are the comforter or comforted.

I have both a 2011 and 2015 bottle. There are a few differences but the greatest difference is that the 2011 has more vetiver and galbanum, it has more of a solid base and it feels seamless. 2015 is brighter with more citrus in the opening and the tonka seems more intense in the base. Also well blended, but perhaps a bit more flimsy. I like both but I do prefer my older bottle. The juice is golden green and substantial looking as opposed to an almost neon, very clear green. For those who were wondering ;p

rosequeen

I bought Chanel No. 19 Poudre when it first came out and I think with the possible exception of Coromandel it's the best perfume Chanel ever made. It's so unexpected in every way. You're expecting a sweet chalky powder, and you're hesitating, but you won't get that here. It's a soft fragrance, but not a dry scratchy one. I don't usually wear a lot of green fragrances, but this one overcomes all that with its lushness. It isn't even that much like Chanel No. 19. I wore the Poudre during the day today and the original 19 in parfum tonight and they really are quite different.

And about the original No.19, the description of it here says it came out in 1970, but I'm sure that isn't correct. I wore it in college in 1966 and it came in a spray bottle, undoubtedly aerosol, available at higher end department stores. I think it came out in the 1920's or 1930's.

hexed

I'm getting that kind of a sweet, dusty, musky baby animal smell from this.
Very interesting.

Coquita

A remarkably elegant unisex scent. It opens with the neroli and vetiver but quickly falls into the iris powderiness. I love that it's a dry powder, very green and just a bit sweet. The dry-down is musky and powdery. Longevity is around 6h, and the sillage is office-friendly. If I weren't debating whether buying this or 19 EdP, I'd totally get it.

camden-girl

i keep reading that no 19 poudre and infusion d'iris by prada are very similar.
id say that there are similaries but its not , at least on my skin, the same or too similar.
you can own both without guilt lol.
chanels no 19 poudre has a beautiful very green powdery iris like feel just like prada infusion diris but the galbanium note is very prominent in no 19 , it makes it a bit different to pradas infusion iris.
in pradas infusion edp there is no obvious galbanium note ( galbanium is there but blended in more softer) instead the incence is the star player.
The incence adds interest and debth. They both have beautiful iris of course but chanel comes accross warmer and prada cooler, both are amazing.

on my skin no 19 poudre is a tad more interesting it just seems such quality and you can tell it has lots of beautiful blending but is very green still and powdery but galbanium makes it more bracing.
prada infusion feels less obviously green yet it still is green and its a softer feel , creamy and dreamy with the incense, a sweetish less bracing feel than no 19, also no 19 poudre is less smoky , more smooth and a tad warmer than infusion d iris.
infusion d iris is colder and cleaner than chanel 19 poudre.

both are adorable marsterpiece perfumes , both get 10 out of 10 in my book but they are similar in places but not the same, im sorry i cant explain the differences and similarities in more depth as im new to reviews and my nose is not trained at all but diffrences there are as well as similarities.
both are well worth buying or trying ! :)

Tapioca

I'm not sure about the initial scent, but the drydown is to die for, and that's what you actually end up wearing. Totally addictive.

louiee

I love the poudre edition of The Chanel No 19.
The no 19 is somewhat to sharp and harsh for me... but oh this one really does it.
Feminine, soft, classy and sophisticated. Like a gentle and caring hug.
I really love this one.
Chanel poudre has a soft silage and an average longevity.
I wear it days when I dont want to scream with my scent or before I go to bed to enjoy it myself.
Poudre I adore you

Just got a bottle

I've bought a few fragrance sets over the years that come with matching lotion. It just occurred to me this evening that l can mix and match them with other fragrances, a "remix" so to speak.

So l got to work. l put on the lotion of my BV "Jasmin Noir", something which l hardly ever used and decided to pair it with No. 19 Poudré because I'm Dissatisfied with its very soft 'footprint'. Both fragrances share quite a few traits, like Jasmine flowers, musk, Tonka, and slight green tonality of the two.

I am utterly in love with the result!!! All the characteristics of Poudré appear amplified. A blast of cool, crisp galbanum, carroty vegetal iris, suede leather, cold triple milled bar soap, and a bit of powder. I believe in the Jasmin Noir there is a bit of Gardenia as well so together they present a more pronounced heart of living white flowers. For some moments l had to catch my breath. With the powder, musk, florals, and the huge dose of aldehydes, l thought l was smelling Chanel No.22. Everything is so white, starched, clean, non-sweet, prim and proper. As Poudré dials down as it always does the slightly heavier sweet, smoky, sexy, musky almost dessert elements of "Noir" appears. The once shy one liner Jasmine note in both perfumes is now firmly in a supporting role.

Wow. Still very retro/vintage smelling with a touch of sexed up glamour. Very femme and sophisticated.

I currently own a 100 ml of Poudré and 75 ml of the "Noir" lotion. Oh I'm going to have fun with these from now on.

gritzalimaria

While i hate green perfumes, what can anyone say about this beauty!? powdery and fluffy-very smooth and airy powder, it is fantastic, like a baby powder some times, like a delicate face powder other moments, oh, i love it so much, and the only thing that bothers me a little : it is not very long lasting on my skin... so i must apply more and more but i don't really mind. love love love <3

Swedelish

The most gorgeous green scent ever. I love 19 Poudre for its quiet beauty. It is chilly and warm at the same time. Full of rooty, mildly carroty iris, bitter galbanum, and a touch of lemongrass to my nose which I know to be vetiver. Sometimes I think I pick up frankincense in the base but who knows. It's quite heavy on the coumarin which I appreciate. Tonka is one of my favorite notes and it pairs so well with these sort of higher pitched florals and citruses and musk. =A fabulous concoction! It's not sharp in any way. It is smooth and refined. I get a cool earthiness when it opens, then the snuggly, inviting warmth comes in and there it remains- on its musky, powdery, tonka, iris cloud for the remainder of wear. Not at all the "bitchy" assertive green that can be No 19 edt. This is more of a relaxed kind of assertive, not overbearing in the least.

Powdery she is, but not like baby powder. More like a luxurious face powder. Longevity is good on me but it's not a huge projector. I find I reach for it a lot during that time of the month when my hormones are out of whack and my senses are looking for a break. It's my go to when I need to baby myself and it truly does the job! Couldn't ask for a better comfort scent if you're an iris lover. Just the best.

greyhoundmom

Wow!! Beautifully realistic galbanum. Galbanum has been an elusive favorite note of mine ever since I smelled it in the wild (literally) while hiking near Santa Barbara. I don't know about galbanum elsewhere but near the California coast it is actually quite sweet smelling and I'm not sure who was more inebriated off the scent, me or the bees!

Usually when I encounter galbanum in perfume, it is bitter and very dry.. which is fine but not really wearable with my chemistry as it comes across very masculine and maybe a little *too* "old school." This is the first time I've come across a truly wearable galbanum.. a galbanum that translates well to this generation and isn't too mature to be worn without judgment in public.

No 19 Poudre is indeed powdery and soft, but not so soft as to be a muted skin scent. The "green" note is quite prominent, nearly strident in its strength but never too strong.. it is just enough to be a unique scent among today's fruitchoulis and musky florals. I feel that I can wear this fragrance when I want to stand out a little bit in the crowd, but still be assured that I smell fabulous!

Another wonderful Chanel.. this is quickly becoming my favorite perfume house!

mykabering

God this is gorgeous. The powder is silky, not cloying or heavy. Iris in this composition is warm and smooth, accented by the cool earthiness of vetiver and a green snap of galbanum. There's a touch of white flowers in there, but the focus remains on the iris. No 19 Poudre wears like a sheer, watercolor silk scarf, gauzy and floating. It doesn't last as long as I would like, but it's so lovely that I don't really mind. I'm so glad I gave the whole N.19 line a chance.

madonnatella

Chanel no 19 poudré
this perfume needed a double, even triple take for me to truly appreciate its full delicacy and merits. now do I belong to that half of people unable to smell synthetic musks. it was amusing, walking through a perfumery with a blotter of Narciso Rodriguez for her (in various incarnations) smelling, even after ten minutes, nothing at all. the "musk" note there did me in. I guess I had the same with Chanel no 19 poudré. then came Alberto Morillas' Mizensir. Poudre d'Or with his musks named exaltone and paradisone. I smelled a full warm and lasting perfume also build around the iris. I love iris. and then now something may have altered my amnesiologic or olphactoric properties because it is now I can smell Chanels perfume from 2011 to the fullest. of course the striking similarity with, not so much "No 19" (which I love) but with Prada's "Infusion d'Iris" is spectacular. I guess they both have their own pluses but the sheer femininity and delicacy of Chanels iris perfume is revelatory. with musks I understood they traveled, cotraveled along with other notes to enhance these. Iris already is such fine yet also identifiable scent. it tends to become "poudré", and I like these 'old ladies' tendencies. Oriza L.Legrand also does them so well. "now this is perfume", as I am rather from the hefty hookerscents I always also had a knack for deft (old) ladies' scents. (Miss Dior, Joy de Patou, Calèche, No. 5, Fidji, Ivoire.) the perfume managed to become a myth and I am afraid "Gabrielle" and "JoyDior" are already too much marketsteered where it doesn't matter anymore if there are discernable ingredients palpable but where they curate these new perfumes .....to death.

piccolo3001

It's my absolute favorite from all of the Chanel fragrances!! I want to have two bottles of it back up! It's so beautiful to me! Just pure perfection!

Sabretoothkitten

Been sampling this for a few days.
Reminds me of original Chanel no 5 partum + Prad a Infusion d'Iris. Pretty, delicate powdery, plus the original Chanel feel but colder, frostier. I think this is good for early spring, easter, formal events. Could be slightly intimidating like a wealthy older woman who is intelligent and good at reading people. Smart classy but slightly cold. I like it but it's not " me".
I wouldn't call this sexy but maybe impressive.

The best channel perfume although smells synthetic but its a lovely smell.. Nothing like flowers or anything you could find in nature.. But its beautiful and unique not sexy ..not feminine but different and elegant ..like many Prada perfumes ..

As I sit here on my sofa, covered in a powdery elegant aroma. I smell galbanum, iris & musk. After 20 minutes the vetiver creeps up on my nose, it's starting to smell soapy, and some what dry. I like it, I like it a lot!

With 2 sprays I get about 2-3 hours of sillage & 5-6 hours of longevity. Just going easy with my sprays.
I remember going hard with 6 sprays, it caused my partner to give a sour expression, and he actually did tell me he hated it & never wanted me to wear it again.
I'm home tonight, he's not around... Lucky him hah.

Sneaky No 19 Poudre, making me think it's faded out, and then I get a waft of it like it's an actual powder lifting off my skin in a sheer cloud.
Chanel does powdery so well.
I didn't warm up to the original No 19, but Poudre... This is exquisite, a veil of iris powder.

This has sillage, but it is subtle, maybe too subtle. If you're like me, you're going to have to spray it on like you can afford it. But hey, how else are we going to empty a bottle?

If iris scented cosmetic powder is your idea of heaven, try No 19 Poudre.

Ms.Olive

In the beginning poudre is fresh yet soft and sophisticated, it's really that 'hhmmmm' oh yeah this is nice, it's a beautiful scent, she's pretty... but then it turned just a flat powdery on me, that prettiness was gone, was a sad moment for me, really want to love it.

One day, after he had already ordered the labels with the name COCO, he realized that she did not like them anymore. She then called him No. 19. Why N ° 19? Coco explained it just before she died to her friend and confidant Carmen Tessier. "It's the day I was born, August 19th. I was born under the sign of Leo. I am a lion and, like him, I take out my nails to prevent others from hurting me. And yet, believe me, I suffer more to scratch than to be scratched "
"So, this perfume?" He asked, still steaming a little. "How do you find it? You think that once, because of him, I was stopped by a man on the street. On leaving the Ritz, I felt a hand rest on my shoulder, turned around and saw the face of a stranger. I was ready to rebuke the arrogant badly when, with an American accent, he said: Excuse me, these two friends of mine would like to know what perfume it brings. "
CONFIDENCE OF MADEMOISELLE CHANEL TO CARMEN TESSIER ABOUT 19, LES ANNÉES CHANEL, PIERRE GALANTE, 1972, p. 322
Never trivial nor conventional.
It has something bold, an insolent spontaneity that makes it irresistible.
I love it

There are only a few Chanels that I truly like so far in my aromatic journey; those are: Allure edt, Allure Sensuelle edp and edt, a little bit of Chance Edp wouldn't hurt, and then there are Coco and the 19 range. Coco I haven't really found a way to wear yet but 19 edp and 19 poudre are becoming quickly favorites of mine, especially the Poudre version.

Which finally appeared in my local Sephora low on the shelves, these perfumes are not displayed properly with 19 edt missing completely, in May. Too pity, they are really really beautiful.

19 poudre smells by definition as a perfume. There is not one edible or sweet quality about it, instead it smells as abstract as possible and at the same time as modern as possible. You cannot deny the vintage flair, and you gotta love these types of scents. Powdery, bitter, dry, groomed, ladylike. So feminine, more feminine than Infusion of Iris. 19 Poudre definitely has more feelings than most irises I've smelled. Silky and sensual, lazy mayby? The scent of the afternoon in warm spring and summer when you finished all work and chores and just sit at your balcony, doing nothing. It's calm and quiet. Maybe melancholy. Maybe thinking too much. Appropriate for all seasons.

Initially I smell a lot of acrid notes, something between patchouli and galbanum, white musk for sure, green notes will develop soon enough and underlying bitter peppery notes. Good projection but not the best longevity. Four hours tops with constant projection and then it starts fading, but I don't mind reapplying.
For ladies.

With the Cristalle range I'll deal when I'll find them displayed; I just don't seem to find them anywhere.

Ignore the ridiculous comparison to lettuce. This is heaven in a bottle.

I fell in love with this perfume tonight. I’ve been on the hunt for a couple of new scents and happened to try on this one. The sharp green intrigued me, and the powder really balances out the sharpness, so there’s a bit of “prettiness” and still a bit of green mystery. I have been smelling my wrist all night and cannot wait to get my hands on a bottle of this beautiful perfume.

camden-girl

No 19 poudre a floral powdery green. LOVELY !

on my skin this starts out grassy green with a citrusy not quite sharp but noticable fresh lemony start , but in less than a few mins it looses the grassy start and becomes delicate and powdery. The iris is more tender and soft , a tad warmer (maybe from the tonka bean) than in prada,s infusion d iris.
Infusion is intensely powdery full on iris and incense and i love it very much but its got a slightly colder feel than this iris dominated chanel perfume which retains a slightly green and citrus feel with the iris ( instead of the incense of prada.)
As time goes on it becomes a beautiful very chanel skin scent and sadly in my book its more an edt in that way than an edp so for me it looses a few points for being almost too soft. I have to use a lot of this to build any noticable scent and its quite veil like , a whisper of fragrance. In n fact 10 mins in this is perfection , sadly it fizzles out over the next half hour and i keep spraying to get that lovely 10 mins to half hour perfection, my partner says he can still smell it however .
Chanel is quality and sometimes a gentle fragrance , a whisper of clean chanel powder , almost lemony icing sugar is more preferable to a heavy loud “perfumy “ perfume if you get my point.

This is imtimate and beautiful but for me personally it stops just slightly short of having the sillage i need in a fragrance its just a tad too quiet for my liking, that said a generous sprayer will give a little more so for me overspraying is essential , i use mine like body spray all over.
no 19 poudre is not harsh or bitter nor baby powder its something inbetween , a SILKY VEIL of beautiful and classy soft , expensive , powdery , fresh just detectable mandarin dusted in powdery iris , blended to perfection with tender kind hearted musks.
Its quite agreeable and inoffensive , pretty even ,refreshing in summer and cuts crisp in the colder weather.

TigerLillian down below explains this perfume perfectly !

edit:
I lOVE this it's VERY addictive the dusty slightly sweet silk Powder & mandarin is perfection and makes you want to keep smelling your wrist ,I cannot stop picking it up ! No 19 poudre grows on you so much , give her time !

CHANEL : we would love a deeper pure parfum of this Please ! oh and while your at it can we have bath powder and oil too ? :)

Chic-girl

This doesn't smell like Chanel 19 or Infusion d'Iris.
I have them both and haven't really learn to love No19. I have tried many times,
but who knows; maybe some day...
I Love Infusion d'iris and this Poudre version, but they smell different.
In addition Prada is much more sharper, this is soft.

Edit: My Prada (Infusion d'Iris) is eau de parfum, I can't compare to eau de toilette.

nvenus

This smells like used, wet, cigarettes and grass. The cigarett scent is similar to how a persons' clothes and hair - and skin - usually smells after they've smoked outside, in rain or drizzle. I don't know anyone who's tried this and disagreed with me but many seem to do that here and I can't understand how.

desertrat

Refined. It captures attention without screaming for it. Perfect for a woman of class who knows herself. The perfect Chanel woman. Exquisite.☆☆☆☆☆

AMBRA GRI

I am kind of hesitant in front of Chanels, usually, although I own and used to wear a lot Coco Mademoiselle ( can't anymore!), and still have on my immediate testing list Cuir de Rusie or CoCo Noir. However, I know what to expect from a Chanel- an exquisite formulation, classic beauty, austere, restrained elegance, always to be taken with a grain of pearls:). Well, Chanel 19 and 19 Poudre took me by surprise. Was expecting a more heavy and aldehydic form. Chanel 19 Poudre is far from that. It is, indeed , almost identical with Prada Iris (I have the 2015 version) . Moreover, it is easy to wear, not at all formal and subtle, inoffensive, easy to wear- it's more of a mademoiselle than Mademoiselle itself. and, as someone mentioned below, is almost unlike other Chanles or the misconception about this house. A fresh yet powdery iris, no talc , lipstick, powder, purple feeling whatsoever, almost a fougere chypre- if that's an accepted category of a fragrance. An uplifting, waiting for the spring feeling.Happy that I just bought a 50 ml full bottle at a quite low price from a local e-bay like website.

AnitaHendricks

This is the slightly powdery, warmer sister. All the No 19 perfumes are very green, foresty and fresh. It's still authentic to the others and very well made. I like it! It's a wonderful fragrance.

twinmalaysia

It really is a refreshingly green scent with a slight powdery feel to it. It's smooth and soft, really delicate to say. Like a delicate glass piece that's going to break if you don't handle it carefully. But it has a sort of a kick to it - like a classy and should I even say - a slightly naughty vibe to it?

It's not a sweet perfume, like at all. Nor is it sour or juicy.

It's comforting, yet classy. Sensual and calming. It just has this X factor that makes me so incredibly calm and relaxed. Totally opposite to my usual hot tempered nature.

I mean it's already hard for me to not love a perfume that has tonka beans in the base notes. And tonka beans really stick to the base notes in this one - they don't appear on my skin in the top or middle notes. The scent definitely has "by Chanel" written all over it.

Sillage is moderate and lasting power is moderate on my skin.

desertrat

Iris. Perfect Iris. It's refined, exquisite, sophisticated. It is my go to love. And it's Chanel. Wear it in close quarters with confidence. Long after I think it's gone, I get, "You smell wonderful. What are you wearing?" I also love that it's so unrecognizable it becomes your own unique scent. Beautiful, feminine, divine. It's worth every penny.

courant

This fragrance will garner compliments if you use it generously.

It is a beautiful musk and iris combo,, but way too costly when put against a great many iris/musk concoctions. It is a prestige brand and will appeal to the committed Chanel purchaser who enjoys understatement. Sometimes its enough to catch a simply stunning moment from a soft scarf; in this it matches Annick Goutal.

No 19 is my favourite perfume overall; Poudre as a flanker has very little to do with my perception of 19, so it mustn't be purchased on that basis. It's tonka marshmallow, infused with iris, a cupid's dart that will find its target with those of us who simply love what Chanel does with perfumery. Even though I have sampled many of the Exclusif range of perfumes and loved them whole-heartedly for an hour, their lack of longevity has prevented me from buying. I have purchased Poudre, it lasts in a similar way to Narciso FH, in little puffs of sillage and a very lovely skin scent.

Annabear

Definitely musky, almost mushroomy- green, soft, powdery.
I really like this fragrance, Chanel did a spectacular job on the iris - I haven't experienced the original No. 19, only the poudre and it's definitely that - green and powdery.
It's a dream of a fragrance that's mysterious, evocative, leaves a gorgeous trail and lingers well.
Earthy....

aelserafy

This is not the sweet delicate boudoir feminine powdery that I adore. This is more green fresh cold hit-you-in-the-nose kinda powdery. It's OK but not a keeper for me.

Chenet

this powdery fragrance it is very intense on me. If I wear it every day, it just gets stuck on me; even if I take a shower twice, I still smell it...lovely but overwhelming

Roxanne25

Interesting fragrance. Definitely powdery, due to the iris, and a tad sweet in the drydown (probably Tonka and musk). I bought it with the intention to use it mainly in the office, but soon realize that I love to wear it in the evening, at home, after shower. It has comfortable vibe and calms me down after a long day at work. Chanel 19 poudree is not distant and cool fragrance as it seems at first with the crisp freshness that hits your nose. Soon it smoothens and sweetens and that is the moment I love it the most. Pure femininity.

kristenboris1997

Sweet, definitely smell the iris and tonka. Musky too. For some reason, maybe my weird sense of smell, I get a nutty aroma also - like almonds. Perhaps that is just my skin. Unusual but lovely. I still prefer no 5 but this is lovely also.

desertrat

Elegant. Sophisticated. Feminine. Empowering. Enduring. I am absolutely in love with it. I was first afraid it didn't have much staying power. I could not have been more wrong. I get complements long after I assume it's gone. It can be easily worn in the closest quarters. I have absolutely found my Chanel. It is now my signature scent.

lalondem

Just bought large bottle at duty free shop, love the iris....have to say the sillage and longevity are poor though, rather surprised for a Chanel. Won't buy it again due to this.

Tigerlillian

Chanel No 19 Poudre is one that had me whispering "oh my God... oh my God... oh my God... " to myself at first spritz.

This opens with beautiful, crisp, lightly bitter galbanum tempered with dry vetiver.

I find vetiver to be quite multi-faceted, sometimes woody and dry, sometimes rooty and earthy, and sometimes gently sweet like dirty, natural cacao. Here, with the introduction of powdery iris, the vetiver delivers a subliminally delicate bitter cacao accord. Tonka presents its darker side too with a dry coumarin/hay aspect.

The citrus and neroli are also delicately bitter, slightly waxy and softened by musk, delivering that clean, French soap quality that is signature to this house and similar to the base of No 5 Eau Premiere. Jasmine is lucid and ethereal in the dry down which is dusted with iris.

No 19 is such a sublime, delicate beauty with a dream-like enchantment. I'm completely captivated by the symphony of notes and enchanting reverie.

artisy

This is unbelievably beautiful. I am very picky about musk and prefer them powdery or soapy. This winner is loud and soft at the same time.

It evokes a feeling of being somewhere damp where the fog is thick and enveloping to my nose. Where the collecting dew is green stems and purple flowers. It's not a cold feeling though, it's refreshing and energetic. Perhaps an Indian Summer where the day is hot and the more temperate afternoon brings new energy to the day with cooler but not cold temperatures.

blackangelic

This is such a beautiful perfume, so soft and powdery, delicate and warm, yet also lovely and fresh! The iris is superb, and so is the musk; so soft and rich and lush. Beautiful. And the woody vetiver is gorgeous. It's a very pretty, sensual, elegant and feminine perfume, and demure, quiet. For an elegant and delicate lady, which it certainly makes me feel! It's so lovely! And it's a highly complimented one I must say! And it lasts terrifically well too; all day. I love it.

cake n' cuddles

This is my powerful business woman who has a secret sensitive side and dances ballet after work perfume. I find the green color of the liquid very attractive, and I think it represents the smell well. Indeed, this is powdery, but also a green floral and woody. This smells very dry and makes me think of talcum powder and nylon tights. I actually don't get a lot of any particular notes, it's very blended. But you can smell a lot of what is in the note pyramid, if you pick it out, if that makes sense. I think maybe the resin and vetiver is just a little bit too strong for my taste for this to be a purchase for me. I really prefer prada infusion d'homme which is a bit similar.
Side note, I do prefer no. 19 EDT over poudre because I like the stronger citrus notes.

Chic-girl

Right now this is the most beautiful fragrance I know and more often reach. I love iris so much and this is fresh not sweet scent. I like each of all other notes too, can't specify them more. Although I wish it would be stronger. It's so much skin scent, I have to press my nose to my wrist to smell something. But it smells so beautiful. This is my favourite. I wish I would be able to write more proficient english, that my writings could be more complex.
I liked Fragrant Desert's review of this.

arxsyn

I haven't worn mine in months and I'm just smelling the atomizer bottle.

It smells dewy, floral, musky-powdery, woody, and grassy all at once. The addition of this musk powder facet imparts a gauzy veil over the bright, strident astringency of the original green gem. I would class this as a floral musk perfume.

When I focus on the musks, I can't help but notice how sweet it smells. It's comforting, cottony smooth as ever but there is something of a wide-eyed innocence to it. Like talcum powder. Also I can almost swear there is a cotton candy/burnt caramel smell to it: ethyl maltol. It doesn't smell pink by any means, more like a chalky grey to white. The musk[s], bitter galbanum, and aromatic tonka unite to give a leathery-suede textural impression. The sweetness of the musk also gives the Jasmine have a fruity, almost candied nuance. Iris has a sweet violet note gives the retro makeup powder feel. The aldehydes lend a waxy feel too a bit like lipstick and also luxury triple milled bar soap.

Whatever the case, the entire perfume is still very clean and classy. Poudre is definitely more overtly feminine, warm, romantic and cute than it's predecessors. That said, it still retains a bitter leather quality which gives it a nice dark edge. Vetiver as always gives it a grounded assertiveness. Extremely well blended perfume that settles in the skin in a low hum of Jasmine, Musks and aromatic Tonka.

I think this time around, the reformulation makes it more dissimilar to Prada's Infusion d'Iris because it lost its original dry character. Even if you compare the Prada flanker to Poudre, they definitely aren't alike, though they share similarities. I remember the Prada flanker as a total screechy vintage powder bomb like a velour powder puff, very resinuous and rich. Poudre is much more soft, genteel, transparent, and dewy. It's also quite a bit softer in projection and sillage, so it's also feels a lot more intimate. I think it also has a bright, happy personality but still refined and classic. Very Chanel.

This could work as a wedding perfume. I can see myself wearing this on dates. This could be worn to the office if the work culture is about soft, inoffensive scents... This can be worn year round but I will probably reach for this in spring and summer evenings.

Some loud complaints l would make is that this perfume is not loud enough as expected of most perfumes labeled "Parfum"; there is no Rose! How l miss it. Sigh.

That's why l layer my No. 19 EdP with Poudré. I know, it's excessive of me to purchase and wear both at the same time. I do it anyway. And happily.

spinderella

I adore chanel 19, especially the perfume-version, but this one is very nice too. I don't get the connection with the Original no. 19, because that is a fresh oakmossy green, while this is a powdery iris. But I love the poudré on colder days. Very cosy and comforting. It makes me feel strong and confident :-)

Mich03

Just added this bottle to my collection after a year of thinking it doesn't smell of anything! There was obviously something wrong with my nose the first day I tried this! I honestly could not smell anything after the first spray. Just proves that sometimes you have to give things another chance. So the fact that I've bought it says it's good! Don't really get powder from it but I do get green. First spray is very similar to No19 but it changes to softer more unusual scent altogether. But not too soft.Definitely not a mainstream scent. I am hopeless with picking out notes but I will say it's a lovely fragrance and one that lasts on me all day. I think it will be even better in the cooler months.

Basteth

So disappointed. I like powder, I adore Chanel no 19, so I figured this would be a safe blind buy. How ever. My lovely and fierce no 19 has now become an old lady. I feel a 100 years old wearing this. A classy old lady for sure, but still an old lady.. I should have listend to all the bad reviews. Maby it will grow on me.

Fragrance Review For No. 19 Poudre

By Chanel

Top Notes

Neroli Mandarin Orange Galbanum

Middle Notes

Iris Jasmine

Base Notes

Musk Tonka Vetiver

No. 19 Poudre is a reformulation of No. 19 and more of a powder scent. It opens with a green herbal galbanum and that is one chypre ingredient that has always pleased me. This is herbal as it opens and citrusy with mandarin orange and neroli/orange blossom. Smells fresh and crisp like walking under an orange grove in the autumn. The galbanum is still present and it is an homage to galbanum based scents in gorgeous chypres I have worn and experienced like Ivoire de Balmain and Aliage by Estee Lauder. This is not too camphorous as the powder from unlisted powder notes is stronger. The iris is the dominant flower here. It's a beautiful violet. The jasmine is indolic sort of like Alien by Thierry Mugler. In fact this doesn't smell too different from Alien. The jasmine is Indian night blooming jasmine. The bottom is composed of musk and vetiver giving this scent a nocturnal grassy outdoor smell. God I love it.

This smells great on me and on my Hindi girlfriend Charita. We associate this fragrance with our trip to India where we smelled it on a beautiful woman in Mumbai who only wears this scent. This is not exactly the chypre bomb that is No. 19 so if you cant stand the original 19 try this one. It has more flowers and more powder. It's mature, elegant, glamorous and smells amazing.

Recommended wear: evening wear, formal wear. Fall or Winter.

As it's comprised of galbanum and vetiver grass and something herbal that could pass for patchouli this is also unisex and a guy can rock this as well. Very nice. This is totally Chanel's bag. It smells like something Chanel would wear herself if she were still with us and we could smell her today. I wish I could smell her today.

Tussa

Reading all those (more than positive reviews). I would just go and buy it. But the price of this one made me be more cautious to try it first. Based on reviews, name, brand and colour, I was really expecting something completely different, I was not ready for sharp, bitterly green scent. It was immediate dislike, and I thought, it can not be right, they might have spoiled tester. Few days later I tried it again in different perfumery, but experience was the same :(
I was almost afraid to write my negative opinion about one Chanel, but sorry guys, I just do not like it. I think that this one is love or hate and nothing between.
I have to admit that this sharp note that come first to me disappear after while, and I could fell the real scent behind it, but not enough to start to like it.

lindley

I'm one of the people for whom it becomes "nothing" very quickly. I'm wondering if we are anosmic to the "interesting musks". It went on nicely enough, slightly metallic, but half an hour later all I was left with was an extremely faint scent of soap and talc if I pressed my nose to my skin.

Smellicious0000

I find Chanel 19 Poudre to be an intriguing scent. Rather strangely, I get a slight metallic scent soon after application which I can almost taste. It is really odd how it affects me, however, this doesn't take away from the fact that this Eau De Parfum is a wonderful, powdery, comforting and sophisticated scent.

Dadadida

My Mom occaisionaly wears it, and I love it when she does.

It starts off smelling like french bar soap that I used as a child - a soap fragranced with orange blossoms. This is a fantastic note that makes me think of my childhood and summertime. The galbanum makes it balmier and creamier.
Then comed a very soapy and clean jasmine and of course a powdery iris that is prominent throuthout.
The iris also gives this perfume a metallic quality, that weirdly, I don't mind at all.
The ending is all about vetiver for me, on the base of clean musk - nice and calming, and not dry at all.
I do smell something bitter that is slightly smokey. Although this version doesn list an incense or leather note, I can't help but smell it (galbanum was used historically for creating aromatic smoke, so perhaps that's why I sense incense) . Either way, the smoky vibe is good - it gives this fragrance an edge, making it a very memorable and powerful scent.

Overall, it's a beautiful and unique fragrance for spring, that can be worn at daytime as a "power" scent, but is special enough to wear in the evening too. I suppose it does have a slight "old lady" vibe, but not in a bad way - it's classic and classy.

If I would need to sum this in 3 words, they would be: Soapy; Green; Beatuiful

Hanica you are so right.it doesnt last 15 minuets on my skin.what a tragedy for chanel .i think its only a name now.i wanted to buy coromandel ,the notes were perfect for but it was so weak, a weak patchouli.im not saying every chanel is a disaster ,i have a very dry skin.well i wanted a light powdery perfume for summer its light alright.i think iv finished with chanel.i hope others find what i didnt.i wanted onre chanel for my wardrobe but its not to be.

lisa o

For so long, I tried to avoid 19 Poudré because I really always found it too watered down when I tested it, and the iris too sour...and prefered wearing 19 in all its austerity and elegance (I'm a galbanum lover).
But now I bought it (Freudian slip) and am in love. Yes, i agree, it could have been more special in its composition (actually I miss the galbanum here?!), but it's supergreat if it's still too cold outside for 28 La Pausa and the occasion is not formal enough for 19 and I have worn "my" beloved Sycomore for many days in a row. I even wear it after the gym or, actually, ahhm...everywhere at the moment, to be honest. This muskiness is so funnily unusual for Chanel...
The sillage is not very strong, nor is lasting power, that's ok with me, I only need a soft trace and I enjoy it, really.

Pinnacos

This is truly a beautiful frag. I'm curious though about the note pyramid listed above. I watched a fascinating video on the Chanel website about the making of Chanel No 19 Poudre and they go into great detail about how they had fields of Iris pallida and Iris florentina grown exclusively for them in Grasse, specifically to be used for No 19 Poudre.

Where I'm lost is the fact that it's specifically the orris butter (and subsequent orris absolute) derived from the rhizomes that is the predominant iris note. Shouldn't the note pyramid be featuring the rhizome (orris root) icon instead of the flower (iris) icon? Orris root isn't listed in the note pyramid above in any capacity and it's really this note that makes this fragrance sing.

Ironically enough, the two species of Iris used for this fragrance produce flowers that have virtually no scent to speak of. It's all in the rhizome.

olga_adriana

absolutely stunning stuff. i've worn it just a few times now, so i'm sure that my opinion on it may change, but probably only for the better. i don't see myself growing tired of this one. it's just too classic.

i've never been that into chanel perfumes, though i own three, including the new Eau Premiere, which i find equally stunning. I had read many reviews that No. 19, describing it as a green, cold, and sterile fragrance. when I smelled No. 19, it smelled a bit like...grass. it was indeed, very green.

No. 19 Poudre is different, and in a good way. it's an equal mix green, fresh, and powdery, and the notes work together seamlessly.

whereas you would never imagine wearing the plain old No. 19 in a romantic setting, you could wear No. 19 poudre. it has a feminine and somewhat whimsical sentiment- definitely warmer and more sensual than the No. 19 original version.

I find this one to be quite "makeup smelling" because of the powdery element. I love Insolence, but I find this one to be much more wearable and pleasant than Insolence, or Shalimar Parfum Initial, for example. It feels more versatile...very suitable for a signature fragrance!

If you find No. 19 a little too stark, give this one a try. I was surprised with how much I liked this.

It is truly a wonderful, high quality fragrance that has few drawbacks. The dry down is just as beautiful as the opening. Projection is just right, and longevity is good.

PastelMoon

Honestly, I am not that much a fangirl when it comes to Chanel. I like the brand but I do not love it.

Chanel No. 19 though... I just love the feeling of lux and comfort it provides.I feel great wearing it to the supermarket as well as to a business meeting.

It is floral, powdery, green -- laconic trio of words written on the back of the bottle fits the actual product very well.

It it clean, vegetal and airy with a cloud of old fashioned classiness.

Gigi The Fashionista

This scent is an eau de toilette version of No. 19 which only means that it's softer, more subtle and less intense and even less of a chypre. To my nose this smells more of the new formula for Pierre Balmain's Ivoire and has nothing in common with classic traditional chypres like Ivoire de Balmain the original or original Chanel No. 19 or Aliage by Estee Lauder. This is really very nice for an after shower scent or even to wear to bed because it's therapeutic like an aroma therapy on your skin. It smells amazing in winter time fall and on rainy days. It's got powdery notes courtesy of iris and orris root which make the greenery of the galbanum weaker. It's like a luxurious soap and delicate soft and even a tad sensual like a pea green boa on naked skin. The iris really rules this fragrance. The jasmine is shy but in the background. The base is mostly vanilla and a slightly spicy vetiver. This really does remind me a lot of Ivoire de Balmain more than anything else but I do like that one so this is also one I enjoy.

Emcia

I have owned this for about a year now. I loved it enough to buy it but then was discouraged by its sillage and longevity. I wore it to the library throughout the spring and summer and would sit there thinking that I could barely smell it. I sprayed more (up to 7 sprays at one point) but still was disappointed with its performance. It's not that I need everyone around me to smell my perfume, but if I don't even smell it myself, I don't really see the point.

My bottle didn't get a lot of love from me through the fall and winter, as I was craving heavier scents. Sometimes I would reach for it in the evening at bedtime, as it is perfect after a shower or bath and is extremely clean-smelling and calming. I would pick up the bottle and smell it from time to time, and the scent always brought a smile to my face because it is so evocative of those first few months wearing it (I had just moved to a new place). I thought - I'll keep this because of the memories but I'm not sure it will ever be a favorite of mine.

I reached for it the other day when I was so exhausted that my head ached, and the Alaia that I've been wearing felt too heavy, intense, too much energy to wear. I have no idea what's changed but now I find No 19 Poudre not only more gorgeous than ever but now extremely long-lasting and with decent projection. It lasts all day, creating a beautiful, creamy, powdery, woody, green aura. Winter is officially over but spring is struggling to show its face. Temperatures are in the high 40s, upper 50s (F) and the sun is finally out again. This scent is perfect for this time of year. It's wet and green, like a garden soggy after more spring rain, and I'm sensing more wood in this than I ever have before. Yesterday I finally sensed that phase where it is identical to Prada Infusion d'Iris, with the woodiness coming through.

I can't wait to see how it does in even warmer weather. So glad to have this beauty in my collection.

very deep, intense, moist, bold and strong iris, galbanum, vetiver & musk, bit earthy in dry down but I still get delicate, soft iris, musk and vetiver, yes it's marketed for women but in dry down, it is no more feminine side, what I get is earthy vibe almost dirty but not too much, it last from the evening to next morning on my body, not really get compliments because it was a bit classic, people around me doesn't like classic scent, hahahaaha, I don't care, I wear perfume for myself, not for others

This one just doesn't work with my chemistry, in the first hour it is nice, but soon turns into a sour mess. It's a matter of chemistry, no big deal. But something is a big deal: POOR LONGEVITY and extremely weak sillage. I read about the 2015 Chanel reformulations here numerous times, and to be honest, I thought that folks overdramatize the situation. Now I have to say: not at all. When I was testing No 19 Poudre, I sprayed Bvlgari Eau Parfumee au The Blanc (an eau de cologne!) on my other wrist, and the Bvlgari lasted waaaaay much longer. So people, don't get fooled by the name and the price tag, Chanel doesn't mean quality anymore.

I wear Chanel No 19 and top up with Chanel Poudre lightly. I walk out and the women are literally stopping me and complimenting the perfume. I had men look me twice. The perfume stops the traffic and leaves you as the main character of your own story. If you like compliments and take the centre stage this perfume is for you.
Personally my Grandmother wore this. And this perfume is like a grandmother hug to me. I feel serene, calm and comforted wearing it. I have space for many Chanels in my life now. It's strange. Up until now I felt Chanel was not for me. Now it simply is!

If they didn't tell me it's Chanel or if it wasn't in the lovely classic CC bottle, I wouldn't even touch it. No, I am not saying is bad but I was waiting a bit more from it. It would be my "let's change a bit old time classic". I was listening carefully to the creator's interview and I understand him. It's a rare smell from all the perfumes out there. In the beginning a bit harsh and it's majestic presence attacks your senses. Then the woody tone mixes with the green one and finally poudre name makes sense. The "older" noses will characterize this perfume pure luxury but "newer" just a strong green perfume with powdery base and weak sillage/lasting power. For sure it needs some more attention and some extra search/testing from me. What about you?

Tested on skin: A very sharp and green perfume. It could be easily a signature and good for those who're seeking for something unique and strong. Give it a try. It worths it and it will surprice you after so many generic and 'new' perfumes have rested your nose. Perfect for mature crowds and so Chanel.

I really wanted to like this fragrance buy I'm not a huge fan.
For me the jasmine is just too strong and overrides all the other components.
It smells like a fragrance my nan might have worn.
The original number 19 is much more classy and well rounded

Very pretty and feminine. One of my most complemented fragrances. Comforting, chic, and unoffensive. Great anytime!

A bit too..... carefully created if I may say. Yes, lovely, yes, nice and elegant, but would have loved a little bit more drama to it, bit more on staying power and sillage. For the prise tag and the company... don't know... Really not. Prada Infusion D'Iris, yes, it is closed to it, but in this case, Infusion D'Iris is enormously long lasting and beautifully rounded. No idea what is wrong with Chanel / Guerlain / Dior... kind of everything gets watered down to fit inn the trend... Pity.

Amazing powdery!!!! Fragrance!!!!!! I m in love with this warm embracing cloud of class and happiness!!!!!!chanel 19 poudre does the trick!!! For me!!!! I love the iris note!!!!! It s that nostalgic scent of old world soap that gives me the ultimate feeling of being pure and clean (body and soul) a pure unisex to me!!! Happy to have it!!!!
Good sillage the longevity on the clothes is remarkable!!!! It also stays well on my skin like a good quality body cream!!!!! Try to mix and combine chanel no19 poudre edp with lolita lempicka edp!!!!! I get an amazingly strong perfume with the edible sense of lolita and the profound clean fabric smell of chanel!!!!!! I love how they work together

One of my biggest nightmares is to be stuck with someone who wears this perfume. Or just to be forced to use it myself.

The opening is bitter-green, rather unpleasant for me, but lasts only for minutes, then a slightly sweet, light, powdery iris blooms on the skin. Yes, it is very similar to the heart of Prada's Infusion d'Iris, and to me, this stage is the nicest part of the fragrance's development. Unfortunately it soon looses this lovely airy, soft, irisy powderiness, and the drydown is just a sweetish, somewhat fruity, musky mess, very generic and dull. What a pity.

Update: I have to correct my review - now I'm in love with No. 19 Poudré. Green, slightly powdery, soft iris fragrance, just perfect for spring. The drydown is musky-creamy, not too sweet, but definitely feminine.
